Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on, everybody? This
- 0:14Speaker 1: is Jeff Mosher and Adam Kaplan, and we are– the
- 0:18Speaker 1: countdown's on, man. We're just a few days away from Sunday.
- 0:20Speaker 1: That's going to be the week one season opener for
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Eagles against the Commanders, 425 game. Obviously, there's some
- 0:27Speaker 1: football tonight, Wednesday night, Super Bowl rematch between the Patriots
- 0:31Speaker 1: and Seahawks. And then Thursday night, that game I'm even
- 0:33Speaker 1: more excited for in Australia between the Rams and 49ers.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So football is here. It's ready. So it's a good
- 0:42Speaker 1: time for us to do our season, some season predictions pod.
- 0:44Speaker 1: That's what we'll, we'll get to here based on some
- 0:48Speaker 1: outlooks provided by some sports books. And we'll get into
- 0:52Speaker 1: what they think. And Adam and I will go into
- 0:54Speaker 1: what we believe based on those numbers. Yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I look forward to other than the fantasy tonight. It's
- 1:01Speaker 2: so hard to get it Wednesday. I just feel so irregular.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I can't, I really don't like Thursday.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I'm good with. Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 2: The game in Australia, then the controversy of the Rams. Like,
- 1:12Speaker 2: the Rams are going to disrupt. Well, they want to
- 1:14Speaker 2: stay on their own schedule. Like, the Niners got there early.
- 1:16Speaker 2: The Rams are getting there, like, I don't know, 17 hours.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Whatever the hell it is. Whatever, how many hours before
- 1:22Speaker 3: the game. People are up in arms.
- 1:24Speaker 2: You're destroying the circadian rhythm, which I'm more than familiar with,
- 1:29Speaker 2: with my sleep. But biorhythms, what they used to be
- 1:32Speaker 2: called back.
- 1:32Speaker 1: In the day.
- 1:32Speaker 2: It's funny how people are getting all worked up about it.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And look, there's some day. I remember I was at
- 1:40Speaker 3: an NFL owners meetings.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I don't know what year it is, 2013, 14 or 15.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Suddenly goes, someone in the league office told me over drinks,
- 1:49Speaker 2: absolutely positively. We're going to have a team overseas. I said,
- 1:53Speaker 2: while we're, while we're alive, he goes, Oh, it'll happen
- 1:55Speaker 2: in the next 20, 30 years. I'm like, but did
- 1:58Speaker 2: you realize the logistically how hard that is? He goes,
- 2:00Speaker 2: I get it, dude, but you have to understand the
- 2:02Speaker 2: way we think.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah. There's money to be made. That's how they think.
- 2:05Speaker 1: There's money to be made.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Exactly right. No doubt. Yeah, that was the inference. But
- 2:10Speaker 3: I don't know. The Eagles play the Jags, what, in
- 2:12Speaker 3: week five?
- 2:14Speaker 2: In London. Tottenham or whatever the hell it's called.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yes. But that's the crazy thing because the NFL has
- 2:21Speaker 1: no problem just crapping on fans to please other fans, right?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Because this will be the second straight time that the
- 2:29Speaker 1: Eagles are playing a road game against the Jags in London.
- 2:33Speaker 1: which means Jacksonville area fans. And by the way, you
- 2:37Speaker 1: can be like, who cares? But there's a lot of
- 2:39Speaker 1: Philadelphians in Florida who probably, or even within driving distance,
- 2:44Speaker 1: they may live in the Tampa Bay area or even
- 2:46Speaker 1: down in Miami. There's a ton of Eagles fans in
- 2:48Speaker 1: Florida who would probably like to drive and see the
- 2:51Speaker 1: Eagles play the Jaguars. You won't get that chance again
- 2:54Speaker 1: because this game being in London.
- 2:56Speaker 3: It's like when the Eagles game was what? Was it
- 2:58Speaker 3: in Brazil two years ago?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I mean, it kind of sucked because it's the Packers,
- 3:03Speaker 3: you know, a NFC rival. It was a great game,
- 3:05Speaker 3: by the way. It was. Yeah, it's tough.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Like, internationally, your team's going to be playing there at
- 3:12Speaker 2: some point. That's just the way it is.
- 3:13Speaker 3: League rules. You have to play internationally at some point.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:17Speaker 2: But it's going to be a fun weekend.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the Eagles with a.
- 3:20Speaker 2: 4-25 game as we turn the page to this practice
- 3:23Speaker 2: schedule of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday walkthrough Sunday game. So
- 3:29Speaker 2: they have, what, one, two, three, four, five 1 o'clock games.
- 3:33Speaker 2: That's it on the schedule. Of course, the January 10th
- 3:36Speaker 2: game at the Giants, the last game of the schedule.
- 3:37Speaker 2: It could be a 1 o'clock game. But we'll see
- 3:41Speaker 2: what gets flexed.
- 3:42Speaker 3: We will see.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You'll appreciate this quick story. I was doing my 1
- 3:46Speaker 1: o'clock interview, as I do every week, on 97.5 The
- 3:49Speaker 1: Fanatic with Sean Brace and Ray Dunn. Great guys, by
- 3:53Speaker 1: the way. I really enjoy going on with them. And
- 3:56Speaker 1: they asked me for a quick sort of– You know,
- 4:00Speaker 1: they gave me the line on the game, which at
- 4:01Speaker 1: the time they told me was five and a half.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Eagles favorite by five and a half. And do I
- 4:05Speaker 1: think the Eagles are going to win? And I said, listen,
- 4:09Speaker 1: before I answer this question, I'm going to tell you
- 4:11Speaker 1: two guys something that our Inside the Birds listeners know
- 4:14Speaker 1: very well. Because I talk about it every year. I
- 4:17Speaker 1: was like, when the Eagles and the Commanders play, as
- 4:20Speaker 1: you've heard me say, It doesn't follow the script.
- 4:24Speaker 3: It's not a normal game.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I don't care what the line is. I don't care
- 4:28Speaker 1: who's hurt. I don't care who's healthy. It's not normal, right?
- 4:32Speaker 1: So it's really easy to look and say the Commanders
- 4:34Speaker 1: are beat up and Nick Sirianni is what, 5-0? in
- 4:37Speaker 1: season openers and be like, you know, Eagles by 20, whatever,
- 4:39Speaker 1: it's going to be a cakewalk. At that point, I
- 4:42Speaker 1: wasn't even ready to make a prediction. I hadn't even
- 4:44Speaker 1: thought about it. But all that could enter my head, Adam,
- 4:46Speaker 1: was that whenever these teams play, it's usually once a year,
- 4:49Speaker 1: not both games, but you never know which one it is.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Screwy stuff just happens when they play. It does.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It does. Remember in 24 when the Eagles were on
- 4:59Speaker 3: the win streak, Didn't Hurts get hurt in the first
- 5:02Speaker 3: quarter with a concussion?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Hurts got hurt. Pickett had to come in. That was
- 5:05Speaker 1: a neck and neck game. And Daniels basically willed them. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And then they met in the NFC championship game and
- 5:12Speaker 1: you think it's going to be close. And then three
- 5:14Speaker 1: of the strangest turnovers you'll ever see, because none of
- 5:18Speaker 1: them were interceptions. I think they were all fumbles or
- 5:21Speaker 1: one was like, a dropped pass that became an interception,
- 5:25Speaker 1: but it's like the commanders just completely their, their, their
- 5:28Speaker 1: coach just turned into a pumpkin that day. And then
- 5:31Speaker 1: they just became very ordinary.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Eagles boat raced them. They absolutely demolished them. They dominated
- 5:37Speaker 3: in just about every way.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yep.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah. But they've had some interesting games over the years.
- 5:41Speaker 3: There's no question about it. Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 1: There's the one with the brawl. I remember with Jason
- 5:45Speaker 1: Peters and Chris Baker, there was a Monday night massacre.
- 5:49Speaker 1: There was, there's just so many, There.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Was a body bag game, for those of you who
- 5:54Speaker 3: are old enough.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Oh, God, a long, long time ago.
- 5:56Speaker 2: It was at that game in 91. But next time
- 5:59Speaker 2: I see Brian Mitchell, I've got to ask him about that.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Sure.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got unbelievable stories.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So that's the game. For all you Survivor Pool folks
- 6:08Speaker 1: and bettors out there, that is the game that I
- 6:13Speaker 1: would never touch. I don't like division games anyway, for
- 6:17Speaker 1: those who like to bet. I mean, I don't bet,
- 6:18Speaker 1: but if I did, if it was something like I'm
- 6:21Speaker 1: in a pool or a weekly pick them. I just,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I hate division games because they're, they're weird. But that one,
- 6:27Speaker 1: that one gets the weird of the year game award
- 6:29Speaker 1: because you just never know what's going to happen when
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Eagles and the commanders play.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You agreed.
- 6:35Speaker 1: All right. So we've got some interesting stuff coming up
- 6:37Speaker 1: this week, even before the game on Patreon, we'll have
- 6:41Speaker 1: ask ITB. That'll be tonight for our tier. Well, it's
- 6:46Speaker 1: one and two members. Now we have, we have two
- 6:48Speaker 1: tiers now. So, $ 12 and $ 15 tiers. It'll be for them.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Ask Greg Cosell will start on Tuesday of next week
- 6:55Speaker 1: for our Patreon folks as well. They'll get to ask
- 6:57Speaker 1: Greg their questions in a live stream. It's one of
- 7:01Speaker 1: our most popular shows that we do on Patreon. And
- 7:04Speaker 1: of course, whether you're tier one or tier two, whatever
- 7:08Speaker 1: tier you are, you will get all of our shows
- 7:10Speaker 1: commercial free. Every single podcast early, up the night before,
- 7:15Speaker 1: sometimes even before that, and commercial free. One of the
- 7:17Speaker 1: best perks of being a Patreon member, and that is patreon.com
- 7:23Speaker 1: slash inside the birds. You ready for that grind? Let's
- 7:28Speaker 1: do it. Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 2: It's, it's, uh, we didn't, maybe we'll do the division
- 7:32Speaker 2: later this week, but this is, and I'm interested to
- 7:34Speaker 2: see where you, and we have to, we at least
- 7:36Speaker 2: have to come out with our hard total wind total.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I have mine and I have a wind range as well,
- 7:42Speaker 2: but the over-under total is nine, like here it is
- 7:44Speaker 2: nine and a half, the over, which is clearly where
- 7:46Speaker 2: the money is, where people are going. they're betting the over,
- 7:49Speaker 2: is minus 145, the under, plus 125. So, yeah, if
- 7:53Speaker 2: you think they're nine wins or less, go for it.
- 7:55Speaker 2: You're going to make money. For every 100 you bet,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you get 125 back plus your $ 100. So you're making $ 125. Now,
- 8:04Speaker 2: they don't do what I hate about these, though. All
- 8:06Speaker 2: books do this, I think. They don't do hard even
- 8:10Speaker 2: win total.
- 8:11Speaker 3: It's by half.
- 8:12Speaker 2: So they don't do 10 wins. They do 10 and
- 8:14Speaker 2: a half. The over, now this is where it gets fascinating.
- 8:17Speaker 2: The money is on the under.
- 8:19Speaker 3: That's where everybody's going here. Mostly everybody.
- 8:21Speaker 2: 10 and a half. So if you think it's going
- 8:24Speaker 2: to be 11 wins or over, you might as well
- 8:26Speaker 2: take this one. Plus 115 and the under is minus 135.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So the number is, the sweet spot is 10 wins.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Let me ask you based on that. What would you
- 8:36Speaker 1: put as the floor and the ceiling for the Eagles
- 8:39Speaker 1: this year?
- 8:43Speaker 2: I don't see any way there could be a team
- 8:45Speaker 2: under 500 with this I know there's some questions on
- 8:48Speaker 2: defense in terms of Gronard's health. And Rick Wallen, can
- 8:52Speaker 2: he be a quality starting corner?
- 8:55Speaker 3: I don't know that.
- 8:56Speaker 2: But overall, they're going to be really good. The Texans
- 8:59Speaker 2: are the best team in the National Football League on defense.
- 9:01Speaker 2: They have no weakness.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I agree. They're incredible.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Matt Burke, the former Eagles, he was a defensive coach
- 9:11Speaker 2: under Schwartz. And D'Amico knows him. Obviously, that's why he
- 9:14Speaker 2: brought him in. They run the wide nine. Will Anderson's
- 9:17Speaker 2: an absolute superstar. And obviously, Daniel Hunter's so good.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Secondary, great.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Safety group, good. Nickel, good. Linebackers, this Henry to O
- 9:26Speaker 3: to O.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Good job. That was good. Nice job.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Greg was shocked. Greg was shocked that he's been this good. Like,
- 9:34Speaker 2: it's just, they draft. Look, Nick Acera, Nick Acera, the GM.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I say it all the time. Great drafter, except for
- 9:39Speaker 2: offensive line.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Oops, not good enough.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yep.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Bad lung, bad tonsil trade. I don't, I don't see it, but. Anyway,
- 9:48Speaker 3: the floor would be to me 9. Could they be 9-8?
- 9:51Speaker 1: Sure.
- 9:51Speaker 2: If Hertz doesn't play well, if he doesn't get the scheme.
- 9:54Speaker 2: If last year was not an aberration with the run game,
- 9:57Speaker 2: that sequence on a decline, and the run game.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Has got to be better.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Obviously, it was historically bad in the number of metrics,
- 10:04Speaker 2: but let's just say it's better but bad.
- 10:07Speaker 3: It might only be nine wins.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Fall is the season where everyone gets busier, more calls,
- 10:12Speaker 1: more customers, more chances for something to slip through the cracks,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and staying ahead means having the right system, not just
- 10:19Speaker 1: working harder. That's why today's episode is brought to you

- 12:43Speaker 1: my personal floor was 10, but you've convinced me that
- 12:45Speaker 1: 9 is fair. It's fair. The worst that they could
- 12:49Speaker 1: be is still better than 500.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, let's say, okay. We know Smitty's
- 12:54Speaker 3: going to be good.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 3: And we've said this a couple times recently, and I
- 12:58Speaker 3: don't want to jinx it, but what if Goddard's out
- 12:59Speaker 3: a while?
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you're right. Injuries could be an issue. And,
- 13:03Speaker 1: you know, Smitty, too. If he gets hurt, we talked
- 13:05Speaker 1: about what they have at wide receiver and their size
- 13:08Speaker 1: issues there. Can you imagine? Yeah.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I mean, Makai Lemon, we don't know about Makai Lemon
- 13:13Speaker 3: right now.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:14Speaker 2: In terms of how good he can be, because he's
- 13:16Speaker 2: so far behind. And then Wicks is a full-time starter.
- 13:20Speaker 1: This guy was a fourth.
- 13:22Speaker 3: He's really a fourth.
- 13:23Speaker 2: If you had A.J. Brown here, you'd like him to
- 13:26Speaker 2: be your three, ideally. And if that is he, he
- 13:31Speaker 2: has a lot to prove. Now, he had a great
- 13:33Speaker 2: training camp, phenomenal, because he knows the scheme. He understands
- 13:37Speaker 2: the timing of it. He knows where to be. But
- 13:39Speaker 2: now we're going to see how well he could really
- 13:42Speaker 2: play when the lights go on, and now you've got
- 13:44Speaker 2: to do it.
- 13:45Speaker 1: For sure. What about the floor? I'm sorry, what about
- 13:48Speaker 1: the ceiling?
- 13:48Speaker 3: Ceiling?
- 13:49Speaker 1: Ceiling? I thought 12. I have a hard time thinking
- 13:55Speaker 1: it could be 13 or more. I think the division's
- 13:58Speaker 1: a little bit better. The NFC East will be a
- 14:00Speaker 1: little bit better. There'll be some surprises there.
- 14:02Speaker 3: The Giants will be better.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, even Dallas could threaten to be 500,
- 14:06Speaker 1: I mean, with their changes. And the commanders, we'll see.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Could they be better than five wins last year? Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 1: they could.
- 14:14Speaker 3: They will, but let me ask you this. If Hertz
- 14:18Speaker 3: is really playing well within the scheme, getting the ball
- 14:21Speaker 3: out on time, consistently. Okay. It doesn't happen.
- 14:23Speaker 2: He's not gonna do it every time, but what if he's,
- 14:26Speaker 2: we all watch it go well, he's really getting it. Honestly,
- 14:31Speaker 2: that's the number one thing for me.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Right.
- 14:34Speaker 2: If he's playing on time, I, again, I'm going to
- 14:36Speaker 2: use the Brock Purdy example. You don't have to have
- 14:38Speaker 2: a great arm or be very talented. I'm not, Hertz
- 14:40Speaker 2: is more talented, but you don't have to be a
- 14:43Speaker 2: great quarterback to be a good West coast quarterback. If
- 14:47Speaker 2: you play within the structure of timing, And he absolutely
- 14:51Speaker 2: destroyed the Eagles secondary. It was embarrassing what happened. Fangio,
- 14:55Speaker 2: I would think he couldn't sleep for 48 hours. I mean,
- 14:57Speaker 2: I would be so pissed off on him.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, Brock sliced him up that day.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I mean, and with backups.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And he's done that. Yeah, and he's done that. Because, again,
- 15:06Speaker 1: he plays within the system.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Play within the system. Play within the timing.
- 15:10Speaker 2: If he does it, because he's got the arm strength,
- 15:12Speaker 2: the mental toughness, just got to do it, he's going
- 15:16Speaker 2: to make Wicks better.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Wicks will be better than he's supposed to be. Smitty,
- 15:20Speaker 3: you know, is good.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Goddard fits the system very, very well. We'll get into
- 15:24Speaker 2: his props later. To me, actually, my upside is 13 wins.
- 15:32Speaker 2: But it starts with Hertz.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Okay. What did I say? Mine was 12. No, I
- 15:36Speaker 1: think I said 12 or 13. Yeah, I can't. I'd
- 15:39Speaker 1: probably more put it at 12. But I suppose if
- 15:42Speaker 1: just everything came together, I could see.
- 15:44Speaker 3: You winning 13.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Let me ask you this.
- 15:45Speaker 3: What's your hard number of win total? Let's go there.
- 15:48Speaker 1: So you're asking me what I think the Eagles are
- 15:50Speaker 1: going to finish? Yep. If you put a gun to
- 15:52Speaker 1: my head, I would probably say, man, I've been caught
- 15:58Speaker 1: between 11 and 12 wins there. Don't lie. 11 and
- 16:01Speaker 1: 6 or 12 and 5.
- 16:03Speaker 2: So the win range is 11 and 12, but give
- 16:05Speaker 2: me a hard number.
- 16:06Speaker 1: All right, 11 and 6.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:09Speaker 1: What were they last year? Same as last year. That's
- 16:10Speaker 1: what they were last year. It's weird. 11 and 6.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Because the last four years have been 14-11, 14-11. So
- 16:17Speaker 1: that averages out to about 12.5. So I felt like
- 16:20Speaker 1: 12 felt good. So I probably should say 12-5, to
- 16:23Speaker 1: be honest. But then I thought about losing A.J. and
- 16:26Speaker 1: some of the newness. First-time play caller on offense. So
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'd go 11-5.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I mean, not having A.J. Brown, which we should have
- 16:34Speaker 3: mentioned before when we talked about Smith and Wicks. But
- 16:37Speaker 3: it's just you don't have anyone that tilts coverage like that.
- 16:40Speaker 3: It's just... You just don't. You just don't.
- 16:46Speaker 2: It's funny looking at the measurements. You know, I went
- 16:47Speaker 2: back to the combine and I asked some personnel people.
- 16:51Speaker 2: AJ was only six foot one half inch at the
- 16:53Speaker 2: combine in 2019. I thought he was taller than that.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Six foot three quarters of an inch. He was only
- 16:57Speaker 2: six foot and a half. And Wicks was six foot
- 17:00Speaker 2: one three eighths of an inch. One team I spoke
- 17:02Speaker 2: to had him six foot one and five eighths.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Wicks is technically taller. Now understand because people on social
- 17:10Speaker 3: media don't understand English sometimes. Let me explain it to them.
- 17:13Speaker 3: We're here to educate. Nothing is official that's on team websites.
- 17:17Speaker 3: They round off. They do this on purpose. Education time.
- 17:22Speaker 3: It's like college schools are way worse.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Oh, God, yeah. They could have been 6'6 in college.
- 17:31Speaker 2: They'll go sometimes three inches taller, especially with quarterbacks. It's
- 17:36Speaker 2: really embarrassing, but overall, not having Brown.
- 17:41Speaker 3: to muscle catches, to do what he does across the middle.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:46Speaker 3: We just, a lot's going to be in wicks here, people.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Just be patient. We'll see what happens.
- 17:54Speaker 1: So what was yours?
- 17:55Speaker 2: I'm going to go 12 and 5. My range is
- 17:58Speaker 2: 11 and 12. I do a range for every team
- 18:01Speaker 2: and a hard number. My hard number will be 12
- 18:02Speaker 2: and 5. I definitely like the over, 10 and a half.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I do. And that's plus territory. That's plus 115.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. Good stuff. All right, now what about winning
- 18:13Speaker 1: the division? The Eagles are a plus 122 to win
- 18:17Speaker 1: the NFC East with Dallas at plus 184 in second.
- 18:21Speaker 1: So it almost seems like you can stand to make
- 18:26Speaker 1: some money if you take either because you're going to
- 18:30Speaker 1: make money if you're right. I love Dallas.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Well, no, to win a division, Dallas to win the
- 18:38Speaker 2: NFC East would be plus 184.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I don't like them to win it.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I don't have them– I didn't check the odds. There
- 18:44Speaker 2: are odds for finishing second, third, or fourth.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:47Speaker 2: To pick an exact– no, just they're the second-shortest odds
- 18:52Speaker 2: at plus 184. I don't have Washington Giants in front
- 18:54Speaker 2: of me, so I didn't really care. We're not talking
- 18:56Speaker 2: about them here. But I like the Eagles to win it.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I'm going with them. I absolutely believe they're the best team.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Based on Sirianni's history– Hurts, I mean, people could criticize.
- 19:10Speaker 2: We've had our criticisms. We've had our compliments. But the
- 19:15Speaker 2: guy shows up and he wins. I mean, I understand
- 19:18Speaker 2: he's not playing 1-11.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I get that.
- 19:19Speaker 2: It's more than that. But Sirianni, for the haters out there,
- 19:23Speaker 2: a lot of haters. There's still a lot of people
- 19:24Speaker 2: who do not like Sirianni. They can't stand him.
- 19:26Speaker 3: They just don't like him. But the guy wins. Five
- 19:29Speaker 3: for five. Five for five.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That's right.
- 19:33Speaker 3: You know how hard that is?
- 19:34Speaker 1: Yeah, very, very, especially in Philadelphia, which, you know, the
- 19:40Speaker 1: haters are going to say, oh, it's Howie because he
- 19:42Speaker 1: gives him a great roster.
- 19:43Speaker 3: So basically what you're telling me is Nick doesn't coach
- 19:46Speaker 3: the team. There's a ghost.
- 19:49Speaker 1: That that.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Look for anything they can that people hate him. Yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I've criticized Sirianni ad nauseam when I think he's way off.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Sure, he's criticizable.
- 19:59Speaker 3: He did a bad job on 23. He did not
- 20:01Speaker 3: do a good job last year.
- 20:02Speaker 2: You mentioned the issue last year with not having a
- 20:05Speaker 2: senior assistant was a major mistake. He still doesn't have one,
- 20:07Speaker 2: by the way. That's not what you're– Gerard Johnson is.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It's not even close to what he is.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Oh, no. No.
- 20:12Speaker 3: So it's not smart, but we'll see.
- 20:15Speaker 2: But the guy wins, and you've got the– I don't
- 20:18Speaker 2: even think it's arguable anymore. We went from absolutely crushing
- 20:22Speaker 2: Howie in 2020 to just over time pointing out what
- 20:27Speaker 2: looks good, this looks good, let's see what happens. He's
- 20:29Speaker 2: the best GM in football.
- 20:31Speaker 3: He just is.
- 20:32Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 20:33Speaker 3: John Schneider's right up there. Les Snead's right up there.
- 20:35Speaker 3: You want to argue, go ahead.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say you can put them
- 20:38Speaker 1: all in a blender.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I mean, they're all there.
- 20:39Speaker 1: They each have different strengths, I would say.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Yeah. But, I mean, no one more aggressive than Howie.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Les Snead is 1A. Howie's 1.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Or you can vice versa because Les all of a
- 20:48Speaker 2: sudden has been just a real broke gambler.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 3: But the guy wins. But it's hard to imagine they
- 20:55Speaker 3: would not be in the playoffs. Moving on here, it's
- 20:57Speaker 3: hard to imagine they wouldn't be in the playoffs.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Oh, I agree. But if the Eagles don't win the division,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you and I both think the Eagles are going to
- 21:03Speaker 1: win the division. All right, I'm going to pick them
- 21:05Speaker 1: to win the division. even though it's dangerous because nobody's
- 21:08Speaker 1: repeated in 20 years. And then the Eagles went and
- 21:11Speaker 1: did that. They broke that streak. So it's like, are
- 21:12Speaker 1: they going to now be the first team plus 20
- 21:15Speaker 1: to do three in a row? That's scary, right? But,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I mean, I think they're the most talented team and
- 21:20Speaker 1: best equipped. But if it wasn't the Eagles, who would
- 21:23Speaker 1: it be? Is it Dallas clearly to you, or.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Do you think– Honestly– I think it would be Dallas.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It is because they are the healthiest of the– Their
- 21:35Speaker 2: star guard just had thumb surgery, but they're still overall
- 21:39Speaker 2: pretty healthy, and they've improved the roster. And Christian Parker's
- 21:42Speaker 2: going to be an upgrade with his Fangio system he's
- 21:44Speaker 2: going to run.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 21:46Speaker 2: They get Quinton Williams for a full offseason, same with
- 21:48Speaker 2: Rashawn Gary. Issues at linebacker still. They upgraded Nickel with
- 21:54Speaker 2: Caleb Downs. They've added Kobe Durant. Jalen Thompson's good safety.
- 21:58Speaker 3: They've upgraded.
- 22:00Speaker 1: They have.
- 22:00Speaker 3: But you're not having Smith. the, the, the guard is,
- 22:07Speaker 3: is a problem, man.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Right. Don't get as your rock who, you know, the
- 22:10Speaker 1: South Jersey kid, I know he had, he'll, he'll come back.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And by the end of the season, he could have
- 22:14Speaker 1: a pretty big impact. Yeah. Losing the left guard hurts
- 22:17Speaker 1: for a little bit about a month.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And we'll see if Guyton can, can do it to me.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Like if the ball bounces their way, they stay generally
- 22:26Speaker 1: healthy and they adapt well on defense to Christian Parker.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Cause the names you mentioned are pretty good players. Now
- 22:32Speaker 1: this is all having to come together and fit the
- 22:34Speaker 1: new names. Jalen Thompson, obviously Quinton Williams. We'll see if
- 22:38Speaker 1: they can get something out of Siobhan Revell, the corner
- 22:40Speaker 1: that they drafted in the third round, who's supposed to
- 22:42Speaker 1: have first, second-round talent. We'll see. If it comes together
- 22:45Speaker 1: and they have one of those seasons, I can see
- 22:49Speaker 1: them contending. The Eagles won the division by, what, four
- 22:51Speaker 1: games last year? That's an impossible ask to do it
- 22:55Speaker 1: that big of a margin again.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Dallas had a losing record at 7-9-1 with that. All
- 23:02Speaker 3: their offensive firepower.
- 23:05Speaker 1: It's embarrassing.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Their defense was not competitive for most of the season.
- 23:08Speaker 3: It was an embarrassment.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:09Speaker 3: It's been an embarrassment for years. But if we can't
- 23:15Speaker 3: beat them, join them. Bring in Christian Parker.
- 23:17Speaker 2: The guys have to learn how to run the scheme.
- 23:20Speaker 3: They've got to learn.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:22Speaker 2: But it's amazing. The real Fangio comes in after Jonathan Gannon,
- 23:26Speaker 2: and the real Fangio gets him to the Super Bowl
- 23:28Speaker 2: his first year.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Funny how they do that.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Crazy. Crazy. So let's run now to the last thing
- 23:33Speaker 1: on the Eagles, the winning the Superbowl, because I find
- 23:35Speaker 1: that I'm sort of fascinated by the, the how, where
- 23:39Speaker 1: everybody's all over the map. I just checked out some preseason,
- 23:43Speaker 1: like power rankings and where the Eagles were. And one
- 23:47Speaker 1: team ESPN had them fifth, fifth best team. I think
- 23:51Speaker 1: it was ringer had them eighth and Adam, I swear
- 23:54Speaker 1: to God, I've never seen this before. Somebody had them
- 23:57Speaker 1: 17th in the power rankings. And it was not like a,
- 24:01Speaker 1: Some site you never heard of. It was like, I
- 24:04Speaker 1: think it was Yahoo. Yeah, Yahoo Sports did their power
- 24:08Speaker 1: rankings and the Eagles were 17th. I don't think there
- 24:12Speaker 1: was a time. I've been on this beat since 05.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It's a long time, right? I don't think I can
- 24:18Speaker 1: ever remember the Eagles not being a top 10 or 15.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Did they give the reason? I'm curious what their reason was.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I didn't read their whole write-up on why. I can
- 24:28Speaker 1: probably find it. Uh, but just, I, I, I almost
- 24:33Speaker 1: fell off my chair.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Like if you, if you want to have them at like,
- 24:40Speaker 2: if you're doing ranking one to 32 for the first week,
- 24:43Speaker 2: if you want to have them at like 12, I
- 24:46Speaker 2: got no problem with it. I could certainly, you can
- 24:47Speaker 2: argue because we don't know if this offensive line in
- 24:50Speaker 2: terms of run blocking, pass blocking, they're really good last season.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Tape was really good. Run blocking, they were atrocious. They
- 24:56Speaker 2: may never be the same physically. We don't know that.
- 24:59Speaker 2: They look good in training camp, but that doesn't matter
- 25:01Speaker 2: right now.
- 25:02Speaker 3: They've got to do it when they're going up against
- 25:04Speaker 3: an opponent. Yeah, I'm looking at it now.
- 25:07Speaker 1: They didn't say anything other than their write-up was not projection-wise.
- 25:12Speaker 1: It's just stating a fact. It says we know A.J.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Brown is gone. What will a new look Jalen Hurts-led offense,
- 25:18Speaker 1: one that's been largely under wraps this summer, look like
- 25:21Speaker 1: is one of the league's more compelling games? Mysteries entering
- 25:24Speaker 1: the season. Okay, yeah, fine. If you want to knock
- 25:27Speaker 1: them a few, that's fine. But they have Rams, Seahawks, Broncos,
- 25:30Speaker 1: top three, Bills. They have the Bears fifth, which is shocking.
- 25:34Speaker 1: The Bengals eighth, Cowboys ninth, Lions 11th, Chiefs 13th, Chargers 15th,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Packers 16th. Just crazy.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Folks, I would implore you to look at the Chiefs
- 25:47Speaker 2: roster and tell me how their playoff team.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be tough, man, especially in that division.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:55Speaker 1: You can sell me on spags in that defense with
- 25:57Speaker 1: Matsua Delaney and some of the other guys that they
- 26:00Speaker 1: brought in being good, but that offense has not been
- 26:03Speaker 1: good for a couple of years now.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It's been in its steady regression. Mahomes missing.
- 26:08Speaker 3: He's going to be ready, but he missed a significant
- 26:09Speaker 3: time to a major knee injury. The receiver, of course, underwhelming.
- 26:13Speaker 3: They've got offensive line problems heading into week one. there's
- 26:18Speaker 3: not a lot of talent on this team anymore.
- 26:20Speaker 2: What they are, what they are clearly is they're a
- 26:24Speaker 2: national team that the books overrate. How the hell could
- 26:28Speaker 2: they be at some books that favorite to win the
- 26:29Speaker 2: end of the ABC West?
- 26:30Speaker 1: It's embarrassing.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Come on.
- 26:32Speaker 1: That, that is shocking to me. So that brings us back.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I don't know that that's shocking to me. And then
- 26:37Speaker 1: looking at the Superbowl odds for the Eagles winning, being
- 26:40Speaker 1: the same as the chargers.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 1: 1700. I, it's just strange to me. You know, I mean, I, I, I,
- 26:48Speaker 1: we did our top 10 teams. I had the Eagles
- 26:51Speaker 1: in the top 10. Um, you did too, to, to
- 26:55Speaker 1: put them on the same level as the chargers when
- 26:57Speaker 1: the chargers are an upcoming team. And sure. Like they've
- 27:00Speaker 1: got Michael Daniel. I get the optimism, but what have
- 27:02Speaker 1: they proven? You know, what have they done to, to
- 27:05Speaker 1: earn that they are on the same level as the Eagles. That,
- 27:09Speaker 1: that to me is a little surprising. That shows me
- 27:11Speaker 1: that people are not really that people, the people in
- 27:14Speaker 1: charge of making these things, what do you want to
- 27:15Speaker 1: call figures or whatever that, They're really in the dark,
- 27:19Speaker 1: or at least very, as that write-up said, mysterious about
- 27:22Speaker 1: this new offensive concept and how it's going to work.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Well, we've known all along what it's going to look
- 27:27Speaker 3: like because we talked about it in February. It's a
- 27:30Speaker 3: West Coast system. It's timing-based. But the issue we don't know,
- 27:34Speaker 3: we just don't know how it's going to look. That's
- 27:37Speaker 3: the real mystery.
- 27:39Speaker 2: We know what it should look like, but until you
- 27:43Speaker 2: get there, And until, because what happens is if Hertz
- 27:46Speaker 2: is not playing on time, we don't know what it's
- 27:48Speaker 2: going to look like. If he's playing on time, we
- 27:50Speaker 2: know exactly what it's going to look like for the
- 27:52Speaker 2: most part. And look, there are always surprises, but, you know,
- 27:55Speaker 2: I know people are big on the Barkley reception total
- 27:58Speaker 2: and stuff like that.
- 28:00Speaker 3: That's so hard to figure.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Out, man.
- 28:03Speaker 3: It's so hard, you know?
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree. So, yeah, plus 1,700 to win
- 28:12Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. I suppose if you are of the
- 28:15Speaker 1: belief that the Eagles are as strong as they've ever been.
- 28:17Speaker 1: And this offense will take, that's, there's some money to
- 28:20Speaker 1: be won there. They can win the Superbowl.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I don't have a Miss Superbowl team. I just don't
- 28:26Speaker 3: see it.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I haven't figured that out in my head yet.
- 28:29Speaker 1: We're going to have our, we do this every year
- 28:32Speaker 1: on our, on our website. We will have our predictions
- 28:37Speaker 1: for winning divisions and things like that. But yeah, I
- 28:41Speaker 1: haven't reconciled in my head Superbowl yet. I'll get there.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You know, obviously the Rams are everybody's favorite. I don't know.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Am I being contrarian if I don't think the Rams
- 28:51Speaker 1: are in the Super Bowl? I have to, like, check
- 28:53Speaker 1: myself on that because they clearly have the best assembly
- 28:56Speaker 1: of talent in the NFL. It doesn't always mean you're
- 28:58Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl.
- 28:59Speaker 3: It doesn't.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Having these so-called super teams doesn't always work. Ask the
- 29:06Speaker 2: New Jersey Nets that in NBA when they try to–
- 29:08Speaker 2: they masked, like, every– superstar they can get in the
- 29:12Speaker 2: middle of their career didn't work.
- 29:13Speaker 3: It was a total disaster.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Sometimes super teams work with Miami, but it doesn't always work.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Now, how could the Eagles be a Super Bowl team?
- 29:22Speaker 2: Everything we just mentioned earlier, it all looks great. And Mannion,
- 29:26Speaker 2: of course, we didn't mention him as a first-time play caller.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Who the hell knows how he's going.
- 29:29Speaker 3: To handle the pressure?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Agreed. Let's get into some individual players, Adam. An expectation
- 29:35Speaker 1: of season for Jalen Hurts from a passing yard standpoint,
- 29:39Speaker 1: because he's, if you look at his career, right, he's
- 29:42Speaker 1: just all over the map. I mean, earlier on that
- 29:46Speaker 1: 2022 year, they go to the Super Bowl. He's got 3,700 yards. 2023,
- 29:49Speaker 1: they have this infamous implosion, but they weren't good on defense.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So they had to throw the ball out. He had 3,858 yards.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I'm sorry, 3,858 yards. And then they go back to
- 29:59Speaker 1: this football, win it. And he has this fewest passing
- 30:02Speaker 1: yards of his career with 2903. And then last year
- 30:06Speaker 1: at 3224. I mean, this guy, it's kind of hard.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I mean, he's all over the place. Yeah, I don't.
- 30:12Speaker 2: This is what I'm going to pass on at 3249.
- 30:14Speaker 2: The over and the under is minus 110. 3249.5, that is.
- 30:18Speaker 3: So he's got to get 3250 or more for it
- 30:21Speaker 3: to go over. Without A.J.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Brown.
- 30:25Speaker 3: You know, it's one thing if we.
- 30:28Speaker 2: If we could do this after four weeks, I would
- 30:29Speaker 2: tell you, although it may, it probably won't look good
- 30:33Speaker 2: early on.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Cause usually defense are ahead of the offenses, national football
- 30:36Speaker 3: league every year this time. But yeah, I don't, this
- 30:39Speaker 3: is a pass for me. I wouldn't, I don't like it.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Well, I would just say this, if the number is
- 30:44Speaker 1: 32 50, okay. Um, to get around number last year,
- 30:48Speaker 1: he passed for 32 24. So can Jalen hurts with
- 30:51Speaker 1: this new offense pass for 25 more yards, uh, I
- 30:57Speaker 1: think he could. And then he may have to play
- 30:59Speaker 1: in the season finale. Who knows? Usually they don't play
- 31:02Speaker 1: 17 because the last game wasn't that much. This year,
- 31:05Speaker 1: maybe it is. So I would think over the 32-50.
- 31:10Speaker 1: If I had to take one, yes.
- 31:13Speaker 3: But again, no A.J. Brown. I'm going to give you
- 31:16Speaker 3: another one. What if the running game is phenomenal? Absolutely phenomenal. Right.
- 31:20Speaker 3: If not, too bad.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 31:22Speaker 2: They don't want to be a passing team anyway. They're
- 31:24Speaker 2: looking for balance, and it starts with Barkley. It will
- 31:28Speaker 2: never change as long as Barkley's here. It's starting with Barkley.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Of course. Absolutely.
- 31:33Speaker 3: They're not going to become a passing team. It doesn't
- 31:35Speaker 3: mean they can't hit explosives. That's what they're looking for.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Correct.
- 31:38Speaker 3: But it's a tough deal, man.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Yeah. To get to 32-50, you've got to average about
- 31:43Speaker 1: 191 passing yards per game. Last year, he was at 201.
- 31:46Speaker 1: And even in 2024, when he only threw for 2,900 yards,
- 31:48Speaker 1: it was still– 193.5 per game because he started 15
- 31:55Speaker 1: games that year, not 17. So there's never been a
- 31:59Speaker 1: season where he averaged 191 or fewer yards. So that's
- 32:04Speaker 1: why I think he can, I would definitely take the
- 32:07Speaker 1: over on the third.
- 32:07Speaker 3: But he hasn't played without.
- 32:10Speaker 1: I know, I know that is the big, that is
- 32:12Speaker 1: the big, but if, so I can listen, I'm not
- 32:14Speaker 1: saying I'd, I'd be a winner. I'm just saying if
- 32:17Speaker 1: I'm just going, you're right, you're right. You have to
- 32:19Speaker 1: factor in the AJ Brown part of that. same thing
- 32:22Speaker 1: with passing touchdowns around 23. Like he's had 22. He's
- 32:28Speaker 1: at 23. He's at 25 last year. And he's also
- 32:31Speaker 1: had 18 in their most successful year. And again, no
- 32:34Speaker 1: AJ Brown. That that's a number. That's just, it's sort
- 32:37Speaker 1: of scary because he's all over the place.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I pass on this one on that one. In fact,
- 32:42Speaker 2: I like the under in that one. If it's 22
- 32:44Speaker 2: and a half, I like the Barkley Russian prop. I
- 32:46Speaker 2: love the over of 10 99.5. So 1100 or more
- 32:48Speaker 2: and you win. There's no way in hell if he
- 32:54Speaker 2: plays 15 games, this line is going to be better.
- 32:57Speaker 3: It's not going to be 24.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Obviously, it would be basically impossible. It's an NFL record.
- 33:03Speaker 2: But I'm seeing 1,400 or 1,500 yards. I just believe
- 33:08Speaker 2: it was 90%, 80% their offensive line, 20%.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Barkley because he had to change his style. It just
- 33:14Speaker 3: didn't work.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I agree.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Now they're changing. We talked about the outside zone versus
- 33:20Speaker 3: what they were running before. Way more outside zone than
- 33:23Speaker 3: inside zone now. It looked good. Well, Shipley looked good.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I love that over. 1,100 yards or more. I love it.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I love it. I agree. I mean, that was a
- 33:33Speaker 1: struggle bus for him last year, and he still hit
- 33:35Speaker 1: right around that mark. And I would say the same
- 33:39Speaker 1: for Devontae Smith. If you gave me 1,100 yards or
- 33:42Speaker 1: fewer for an over-under on Devontae Smith, I will jump
- 33:47Speaker 1: at the over a lot. I mean, I think he's
- 33:49Speaker 1: going to have 1,100 in his sleep this year, Adam.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's 1099.5, the over and the unders. The over
- 33:55Speaker 2: and the unders, I believe it's actually minus 110. I'll
- 34:01Speaker 2: double-check that.
- 34:02Speaker 3: But I love the over. I really do. Yeah, agree.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 34:10Speaker 1: long lines, we've all been there. But when it comes
- 34:13Speaker 1: to your cannabis... Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 34:17Speaker 1: the dispensary for sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly
- 34:22Speaker 1: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast.
- 34:25Speaker 1: No hassle, no waiting. And they don't just care about convenience.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff
- 34:33Speaker 1: makes sure you feel taken care of every time you
- 34:36Speaker 1: walk in. Plus, they carry only the best quality cannabis
- 34:40Speaker 1: at the fairest price. So whether you're stocking up for
- 34:43Speaker 1: the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a big win,
- 34:47Speaker 1: you know, you're getting the good stuff without overpaying. They
- 34:51Speaker 1: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 34:56Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis,
- 35:01Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans 21
- 35:05Speaker 1: and up. Now Wix, we talked about that. That's a
- 35:07Speaker 1: tough one. Uh, Can he make it more than 600
- 35:12Speaker 1: yards this year? You almost say the Eagles need it
- 35:16Speaker 1: if they're really going to be a Super Bowl team.
- 35:18Speaker 1: They need that number two wide receiver to replace what
- 35:22Speaker 1: they're going to lose from– help replace, I should say,
- 35:25Speaker 1: what they'll lose from A.J. Brown. Makai Lemon, I think
- 35:29Speaker 1: he'll probably take a few weeks to get into the
- 35:32Speaker 1: swing of things. But Wicks at 600 yards, boy, that's
- 35:36Speaker 1: a scary one.
- 35:37Speaker 3: A pass. That's a hard pass. 599.5 is the total.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Over in the under is minus 110. That's a hard pass.
- 35:44Speaker 3: It's so hard to.
- 35:47Speaker 2: We know the pass entry is going to be Smitty,
- 35:49Speaker 2: it's going to be Goddard, and then it's going to
- 35:50Speaker 2: be Wicks. If by midseason, you hope that it's Smitty, Goddard,
- 35:54Speaker 2: then Lemon.
- 35:55Speaker 3: You hope. For the future, it better be Smitty than Lemon.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Listen, I would even say if by November, if it became...
- 36:03Speaker 1: smitty lemon goddard the eagles are in pretty good hands
- 36:06Speaker 1: because yeah they love that yeah that's what they would
- 36:09Speaker 1: love yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Yeah it's all about trust he's he's got to get
- 36:12Speaker 2: there we know he had really good hands in college
- 36:15Speaker 2: that's not the issue here the issue is getting where
- 36:18Speaker 2: it being where he's supposed to be within the route
- 36:20Speaker 2: on time this is new to him he's a rookie
- 36:23Speaker 2: missed a ton of time was available for less practice
- 36:26Speaker 2: than he was available for it's a problem but.
- 36:29Speaker 3: You got to give it time absolutely All right, what
- 36:32Speaker 3: else stands?
- 36:32Speaker 1: Any other season projection type of yard stats?
- 36:37Speaker 2: This is a good one for Goddard. Yeah, let's do
- 36:39Speaker 2: Goddard quickly here. Goddard over under minus.
- 36:44Speaker 3: 110, 574.5. That's it. I like the over.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I like the over. I don't know how I feel
- 36:50Speaker 1: about that.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Because of his injury history?
- 36:53Speaker 1: Age, injury history, the difference in the offense. What did
- 36:58Speaker 1: he have last year?
- 36:59Speaker 3: A hit? Who's going to get the ball? Think about it.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I know. I know.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Someone else has got to catch the football.
- 37:05Speaker 1: It's just a little high because last year was 591.
- 37:08Speaker 1: The year before that was 496, but that was 10 games.
- 37:10Speaker 1: So that would have been a huge year. God, he
- 37:12Speaker 1: was on pace for an enormous year in 2024, but
- 37:16Speaker 1: he missed all those games. He went on IR once
- 37:20Speaker 1: and then wound up missing, I think, four games again,
- 37:22Speaker 1: but didn't go on IR or else he would have
- 37:24Speaker 1: had a monster season.
- 37:26Speaker 3: I guess.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I guess 570 is not so bad. Yeah, yeah. I
- 37:35Speaker 1: just don't know, Adam, man. You know when players get
- 37:37Speaker 1: a little older, sometimes they just hit a cliff and
- 37:40Speaker 1: they're just not the same guy. And I do think
- 37:43Speaker 1: one year it's going to be like, all of a sudden, God,
- 37:44Speaker 1: it's not going to be that guy because he's taken
- 37:46Speaker 1: such a punishment. He's not an avoid hits kind of player.
- 37:53Speaker 1: But I guess to your point on– Who else is
- 37:56Speaker 1: going to get targets? Yeah, it would make sense.
- 37:59Speaker 2: You look at the missing target numbers with Brown gone
- 38:02Speaker 2: in terms of dispersion of the football. I know they're
- 38:05Speaker 2: running a different scheme, but when you throw the ball,
- 38:07Speaker 2: who's it going to?
- 38:08Speaker 1: Smitty's one.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Who else really commands the football? Lemon doesn't yet because
- 38:13Speaker 3: he's new.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Wicks has got to prove himself. Jalen and Dallas have
- 38:19Speaker 2: a really good relationship in terms of chemistry. I like
- 38:23Speaker 2: the over there. Oh, okay, now this is interesting. He
- 38:26Speaker 2: shocked the world with 11 touchdowns last season. That's not
- 38:28Speaker 2: going to happen. So basically he's going to, so somehow
- 38:33Speaker 2: he's going to regress to four and a half.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Wow.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Over where the money is. Everyone's on it. It's minus
- 38:39Speaker 2: one 30. The under plus one Oh five. How can
- 38:41Speaker 2: he not get five or more?
- 38:42Speaker 3: Come on.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Ah, that would, yes, you're right. And that is an
- 38:46Speaker 1: area where I'd say I would love the over on
- 38:48Speaker 1: four and a half touchdowns.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Here's mine. And I like
- 38:53Speaker 3: the over. Now, so does everybody else here.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Jalen Hunt, the sack total, 6.25.
- 39:02Speaker 3: There's no such thing as a quarter of a sack.
- 39:04Speaker 3: It's a half or full.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Why would they even do that? Oh, because they're right.
- 39:08Speaker 1: You can get a half.
- 39:08Speaker 3: They want it over six. They don't want it on
- 39:10Speaker 3: a hard number.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Right.
- 39:12Speaker 2: The over is minus 145. I like the over. The
- 39:14Speaker 2: under is minus 115. He's a full-time starter now.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Now, whatever that means, is it 70% playtime 90? We
- 39:20Speaker 3: don't know that.
- 39:21Speaker 2: But he is everyone's breakout player, I would think.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Love it.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I love the over. Seven or more. Six and a
- 39:27Speaker 3: half or more.
- 39:27Speaker 1: That's it. Six and a half or more. it's a
- 39:29Speaker 1: hard that's a hard not to say no to I
- 39:32Speaker 1: mean anything can happen he's still a young player that's
- 39:34Speaker 1: hard to say no to based on the kind of
- 39:36Speaker 1: year that he had last year and we know he's
- 39:38Speaker 1: we know Vic basically said it he said listen you
- 39:43Speaker 1: guys keep asking me am I surprised by this am
- 39:44Speaker 1: I surprised by that and I'm not he's just he's
- 39:47Speaker 1: that good That's what he's been basically saying. So, yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: that feels like a really strong opportunity for him.
- 39:54Speaker 2: And by the way, contract drive. The Eagles don't wait.
- 39:58Speaker 2: They could extend after the season.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Okay, just telling you.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yeah, if he gets in that eight to nine sack
- 40:06Speaker 1: territory or more, it's going to be a no doubt
- 40:09Speaker 1: about extension for him next offseason. All right. That's good stuff.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I like going through the stats. I like trying to
- 40:14Speaker 1: make predictions. And again, on our website, we'll have all
- 40:17Speaker 1: of our NFL season preview predictions on inside the birds.com.
- 40:21Speaker 1: We'll pick division winners. We'll pick Superbowl. We'll pick like awards,
- 40:25Speaker 1: like MVP, comeback player of the year, coach of the year,
- 40:27Speaker 1: all that stuff that we like to project. And that'll
- 40:30Speaker 1: probably be up in the morning, Wednesday morning on inside
- 40:33Speaker 1: the birds.com. That's going to do it for this episode
- 40:36Speaker 1: of inside the birds, the leading podcast, in Eagles Intel.
- 40:39Speaker 1: And as always, we thank you for flying with us
- 40:42Speaker 1: inside the bird.
