- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for Back to the Basics in Healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic. We're here with Dr.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Harley.
- 0:04Speaker 1: As we're getting a tour of the spine, we're working
- 0:06Speaker 1: our way down, and we're up to T6, or we're
- 0:08Speaker 1: down to T6. And I see this one, it just
- 0:11Speaker 1: says one thing. Some of them have a whole bunch
- 0:13Speaker 1: of stuff that says stomach.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, we are halfway through the thoracic spine. And some
- 0:18Speaker 2: of you listening are probably like, this is so cool.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I'm enjoying it. Some of you are like, I hate this.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Can we move on? We'll get there. We got like
- 0:23Speaker 2: 33 segments. So we're kind of halfway through at this point.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And as we are going down the spine, we've talked
- 0:30Speaker 2: that we've noticing more organ type things. So, yeah, we
- 0:32Speaker 2: are getting more into bigger organ specific issues that we're seeing.
- 0:36Speaker 2: And T6 is a big one.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And this is stuff that the things that this can
- 0:41Speaker 1: help are more internal things. So if I'm having issues
- 0:43Speaker 1: on the inside. So a lot of the time when
- 0:45Speaker 1: you think of a chiropractor, at least I think of
- 0:48Speaker 1: if I have a headache or if I have a backache,
- 0:49Speaker 1: but I would not necessarily think, oh, I have a
- 0:51Speaker 1: tummy ache. Maybe it's my back. But that could be
- 0:53Speaker 1: the issue, couldn't it?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it very much can be. We see a lot
- 0:57Speaker 2: of digestive problems. We talk acid reflux is a big one.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You know, as we look at, you know, we have
- 1:02Speaker 2: on our chart, we have the area, we have the symptoms,
- 1:05Speaker 2: stomach conditions, irritable bowel type issues, indigestion, heartburn, reflux, a
- 1:10Speaker 2: lot of those digestion type problems. And we've talked about,
- 1:15Speaker 2: you know, we have the parasympathetics part of the nervous system,
- 1:18Speaker 2: the sympathetics part of the nervous system, So that also
- 1:20Speaker 2: plays in there as well. If we're always in sympathetic
- 1:23Speaker 2: or fight-or-flight mode, our stomach's not going to be working
- 1:26Speaker 2: very well. So that's where we see adjusting the nervous system,
- 1:29Speaker 2: helping it to regulate. We see more of a balance
- 1:32Speaker 2: between those systems, and we see a big change with
- 1:35Speaker 2: digestive issues especially.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Very nice. And I know a lot of those things,
- 1:38Speaker 1: when you think about heartburn and reflux and different indigestion issues,
- 1:43Speaker 1: a lot of the time people are conditioned to drink
- 1:46Speaker 1: some stuff for it or take some tablets and pills
- 1:49Speaker 1: for it. I'm a big fan of not taking stuff
- 1:51Speaker 1: because if you don't have to take stuff, if there's
- 1:53Speaker 1: a way that you can just adjust the problem and
- 1:55Speaker 1: fix it instead of masking the symptoms, that's a lot smarter.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a better long-term solution. And acid reflux is
- 2:02Speaker 2: one of those. I'll have patients tell me they just
- 2:03Speaker 2: got diagnosed with it. It's like, oh, really? What changed?
- 2:06Speaker 2: Have you changed your diet a lot? You know, are
- 2:08Speaker 2: you eating more red meat, drinking more wine, coffee? You know,
- 2:11Speaker 2: all those things that are supposed to affect our stomach.
- 2:13Speaker 2: It's like, no, just whenever I eat, it's like, well,
- 2:15Speaker 2: that's not normal. So it's definitely not your food. What
- 2:17Speaker 2: else is going on? And I'm like, well, how's your
- 2:20Speaker 2: stress levels been? Oh, work's been crazy busy. I've had
- 2:22Speaker 2: so much going on. Well, there's going to be part
- 2:24Speaker 2: of the problem right there is you're not, your body's
- 2:27Speaker 2: not handling your stress load like it should. And we
- 2:30Speaker 2: see that with the nervous system getting kind of overloaded,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you know, overwhelmed. And it needs that regulation that helped
- 2:36Speaker 2: to get over your stress. And we start seeing acid
- 2:39Speaker 2: reflux and things like that start to improve when the
- 2:42Speaker 2: nervous system is more regulated and handling that stress better.
- 2:45Speaker 1: If somebody listening is going, man, that sounds like me.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I've got some issues. Maybe it's my T6. They maybe
- 2:50Speaker 1: didn't know that it was their T6 before, but they
- 2:52Speaker 1: knew there were some issues. If they want to come
- 2:54Speaker 1: in and find out if this is something that could
- 2:56Speaker 1: help them, what is the best way to set up
- 2:57Speaker 1: that appointment?
- 2:58Speaker 2: And you don't need to know exactly what's going on
- 3:00Speaker 2: with you. That's why we have that day one process
- 3:03Speaker 2: where we sit down and we talk with you about
- 3:04Speaker 2: your current health problems, past health history, trying to find
- 3:08Speaker 2: the answer to what's really going on. It starts with
- 3:11Speaker 2: a phone call. It's the simplest way to get a
- 3:13Speaker 2: hold of us. Our phone number is 605-215-1785. We even
- 3:17Speaker 2: have a book online option on our website to get
- 3:19Speaker 2: that new patient appointment scheduled. Very nice.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You can find that website at balancedlifesd.com.
