Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. We are back with a
- 0:02Speaker 1: weekend recap. A lot of stuff happened college football NFL.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We have the Commissioner of college Football, Josh pay on
- 0:08Speaker 1: the show.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Right now.
- 0:10Speaker 3: There's too much bubbling in the college football world.
- 0:12Speaker 1: There's a lot going on.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Talk about games, we'll talk about teams, performances, everything else,
- 0:17Speaker 3: but there is a lot of talk about what's going
- 0:20Speaker 3: on the coaching world. So we had to have on
- 0:23Speaker 3: Listen you guys get a heavy dose of Willie C.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Taylor and Josh Pate on the Locker Room, which comes
- 0:28Speaker 3: out every Wednesday evening, where we kind of talk about
- 0:31Speaker 3: what our favorite picks are for the weekend. But this
- 0:33Speaker 3: feels like, you know, it feels like I had to
- 0:36Speaker 3: have it. Oh wait, economy vibes.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I think that was actually mentioned on
- 0:41Speaker 1: the show. This last week was the eight yeah crash.
- 0:44Speaker 1: But this tonight we got a doubleheader. We got Bills
- 0:48Speaker 1: are headed to Atlanta to face the Falcons and the
- 0:50Speaker 1: Bears are up against the Washington Commanders. Hail Mary, game back.
- 0:53Speaker 1: We're coming back. So first things first, we cooked up
- 0:55Speaker 1: a little parlay for the Bills game. We're talking about
- 0:57Speaker 1: Josh Allen anytime touchdown, Bijon anytime down, Josh Allen plus
- 1:01Speaker 1: two fifty pass and run stats Bijeon plus one hundred
- 1:04Speaker 1: rushing yards. Now, you can ride with the boys, or
- 1:06Speaker 1: you can cook up something for yourself. But what you
- 1:08Speaker 1: need to know is that fandal is giving all customers
- 1:11Speaker 1: a profit Boost token to use either Monday on either
- 1:14Speaker 1: Monday Night football game. So whether you think the Bills
- 1:16Speaker 1: are gearing up for a rebound game against Pennix after
- 1:18Speaker 1: their loss last week, or you think the Commanders will
- 1:21Speaker 1: really start to heat things up after Daniel's return, make
- 1:24Speaker 1: sure to drop a profit Boost token on either of
- 1:26Speaker 1: those games to make sure winnings get even bigger. Just
- 1:29Speaker 1: head Tofandle dot com Forward slash bus and to get started.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I like our parlay. I'm a fan of our. I
- 1:36Speaker 1: think there's a big Josh Allen goes off game.
- 1:38Speaker 4: It's one hundred rush plus receiving yards.
- 1:40Speaker 1: That's not what it says in the card. He said
- 1:42Speaker 1: it's one hundred rush plus receiving.
- 1:44Speaker 4: So that's even better for you to be one hundred
- 1:47Speaker 4: rushing yards.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's rushing and receiving combined. This two fifty I think
- 1:50Speaker 1: that's okay, So that originally got back to I think
- 1:53Speaker 1: that's what it was perfect.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I know we'll touch on this when we get to
- 1:56Speaker 3: the locker room again Wednesday evenings. The Boys and Josh
- 1:59Speaker 3: Pate from on the bus with the Boys Channel. I
- 2:01Speaker 3: believe we collabsed with your channel last week blowing up,
- 2:04Speaker 3: blowing up, blowing up. But hey, four and one of
- 2:07Speaker 3: the big games. You boy, it was a little spicy
- 2:11Speaker 3: over the weekend and right now going in now, don't
- 2:13Speaker 3: want to Jinxon knock on wood right now going into Monday,
- 2:16Speaker 3: Monday Night Football, we talked about six games on the
- 2:18Speaker 3: NFL portion of the locker room Clay and Delaney. Right now,
- 2:21Speaker 3: I'm sitting at four and O and I have a
- 2:24Speaker 3: confession for this is for all the boys, for everybody,
- 2:27Speaker 3: This for everybody, because this is on me. However, I
- 2:30Speaker 3: do think you guys, we'll understand because there at times
- 2:33Speaker 3: there are some solo missions on parlays that you have
- 2:35Speaker 3: to play and over the Sunday, I literally Sunday.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I saw an Instagram thing yesterday about this.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Bro here we go, but here's a parlay that's open
- 2:47Speaker 3: for me, and I'm glad we're talking about it because
- 2:49Speaker 3: this could be the jinx that makes it. Losing, I'll
- 2:51Speaker 3: feel much better. But if I win this have I
- 2:54Speaker 3: had an eight lake parlay plus eighteen hundred and it
- 2:57Speaker 3: was a Denver money line, Rams money line, Patriots money line,
- 3:02Speaker 3: Colt's money line, Seahawks money line, Tampa Bay money line,
- 3:06Speaker 3: Packers money line. And now I just need the commanders
- 3:08Speaker 3: to hit how much you put on it? One hundred
- 3:11Speaker 3: to win? Nineteen hundred?
- 3:13Speaker 1: What's about out right now?
- 3:14Speaker 3: Eleven eleven hundred and twenty seven dollars to cash out?
- 3:18Speaker 3: And would you I mean, I'm riding with it. I'm
- 3:20Speaker 3: for sure riding with it. Would you play now? Yesterday morning,
- 3:24Speaker 3: Sunday morning? But now I'm feeling guilty just because that
- 3:27Speaker 3: was one I did. I know. We share O parlays
- 3:29Speaker 3: in the group chats. Sometimes there are parlays we just
- 3:32Speaker 3: do on our own. Like I'm thinking of myself. Am
- 3:34Speaker 3: I who I think I am? Because I've been a
- 3:35Speaker 3: little hot since I've shaved the head?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you've been hot.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So you have a solo mission text thread with yourself.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Hey buddy, you're rolling right now? Yeah, seeing the same shit?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah for real, I happened just working, been working. Good
- 3:53Speaker 1: news for Will what was your what was there? College football?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Again? For and one four and one missed on Indiana,
- 3:59Speaker 3: which again apologies to the Indiana fans. I know it
- 4:02Speaker 3: went pretty hard last week because we got this little
- 4:04Speaker 3: thing we like to do with Coach Landing and Big
- 4:06Speaker 3: Netti and a simple lol after the game with Big
- 4:09Speaker 3: Netti after and three sig emojis. Indiana's beaten some ass
- 4:13Speaker 3: right now, they're one of the best teams in college.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Fo Yeah, great for Will College even We'll come to
- 4:17Speaker 1: the rondo plus four and one now turn around. In
- 4:21Speaker 1: a moment of silence, I went on one to five buddy
- 4:27Speaker 1: the way the Red River shootout was taking place, and
- 4:29Speaker 1: we didn't have much service. But we go away from
- 4:32Speaker 1: that Missouri Alabama game and Alabama's up ten. I'm thinking,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I said it on ESPN, don't be surprised if Alabama
- 4:38Speaker 1: wins this game by double digits. I felt really good
- 4:40Speaker 1: about that. We walk away, we get through the tunnel
- 4:43Speaker 1: and finally service arts popping up. Everyone just in their
- 4:45Speaker 1: phone and we was like, ooh, shows it over and
- 4:52Speaker 1: Missouri loses by three. I'm literally trying to speak in
- 4:55Speaker 1: existence for the next forty five. I think the line
- 4:58Speaker 1: was like two and a half, right, it was a
- 4:59Speaker 1: one A yeah, it might have been three. It might
- 5:02Speaker 1: have been a push.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Bama's up ten right now, but Miszoo has the ball
- 5:05Speaker 3: and they're in Bama territory. So it was one of
- 5:07Speaker 3: the situations where they score fast. I don't know if
- 5:09Speaker 3: they in a spot where they got an onside kick it.
- 5:11Speaker 3: We didn't get to see the ending of it. But
- 5:13Speaker 3: once they won, he's like, what was this spread on
- 5:15Speaker 3: the game? I was like three and a half. He's like,
- 5:16Speaker 3: are you sure?
- 5:16Speaker 2: One?
- 5:16Speaker 4: Two?
- 5:17Speaker 3: And I'm like, no, it was three.
- 5:18Speaker 2: You're totally sure. Here's the funny part. It's first off,
- 5:20Speaker 2: half of Missouri Stadium is construction right now, so you're
- 5:23Speaker 2: standing in the ends. I was on the field. I'm
- 5:24Speaker 2: standing in the end zone where the construction's happening, and
- 5:27Speaker 2: I'm thinking about, first off, wow, Alabama really needs this win. Secondly,
- 5:31Speaker 2: Missouri they're down ten, so they're trying to score and
- 5:33Speaker 2: get the onside and the moment that dude crossed the
- 5:35Speaker 2: goal line, I'm standing next to three of my staffers
- 5:38Speaker 2: and I just yelled, they got him, they got him,
- 5:41Speaker 2: and everyone else in that building, and they thought I
- 5:43Speaker 2: was talking about the dude scoring the touchdown. I was
- 5:45Speaker 2: talking about you. I was talking about you. Thank got
- 5:48Speaker 2: him because you were the only one I knew that
- 5:50Speaker 2: said they're gonna pull away. It was one of those
- 5:51Speaker 2: weird things where the almost the entire world, it felt like,
- 5:54Speaker 2: including me, said I'm gonna take Alabama. It's gonna be
- 5:58Speaker 2: really close. Though normally everyone's in Unison, something other than
- 6:02Speaker 2: what they're in Unison about happens. The game played out.
- 6:05Speaker 2: First off spread was three to three and a half,
- 6:07Speaker 2: total was fifty one. Final score was twenty seven to
- 6:09Speaker 2: twenty four. Everything about the game played out according to script.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, man, and anybody knew when we that was in
- 6:16Speaker 3: the tunnel. We get in the we get in the
- 6:18Speaker 3: car service to go to the airport. He asked the
- 6:20Speaker 3: next person that he sees, Hey, what was the spread
- 6:23Speaker 3: on the game? Was it uh and.
- 6:25Speaker 1: A and a half? To curse me, but I think
- 6:27Speaker 1: it was two and a half.
- 6:28Speaker 3: We get on the we get on the planes.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I'm thinking of myself because I've already gone through the games.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, I'm I'm oh and four right now
- 6:36Speaker 1: going into Michigan, USC.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Actual fandl App tells you it was three and a half.
- 6:39Speaker 3: He pit them up.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Hey, I got to get up. I got a guy
- 6:42Speaker 2: here at stand outside the carnival righte who says he
- 6:45Speaker 2: swears it was too and a half. Yeah, you guys,
- 6:46Speaker 2: sure he didn't get.
- 6:48Speaker 3: On the planet, he genuinely asked again out loud. And
- 6:50Speaker 3: I'm just kind of jukling to myself, like he can't
- 6:52Speaker 3: take this loss right now.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I couldn't take it because I'm thinking of myself
- 6:56Speaker 1: at the very least win one. Yeah, because I've I've
- 6:59Speaker 1: been at the top of our like it's been very
- 7:01Speaker 1: close between the three of us, but I've been sitting
- 7:03Speaker 1: on the top and I'm thinking myself, eventually it'll fall,
- 7:05Speaker 1: and I know it and I feel it, and I
- 7:07Speaker 1: know it's gonna come. But when it's actually happening, You're like,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I really didn't prepare for it. I just said the words.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I didn't emotionally prepare for this loss that I was about.
- 7:14Speaker 3: You're going for going into Michigan, USC which what we
- 7:17Speaker 3: got to witness on the locker room with the confidence
- 7:20Speaker 3: the noself.
- 7:22Speaker 1: The locker room, I think if you look that back,
- 7:24Speaker 1: you could I'm nervous. I even say, like I'm nervous
- 7:26Speaker 1: with this game, Like they match up really well with us.
- 7:29Speaker 1: What they do well is what we don't do well,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and vice versa. But I thought, at the end of
- 7:34Speaker 1: the day, like toughness is gonna win. And I was right. Yeah,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I was right. Toughness.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Toughness the tougher.
- 7:41Speaker 1: As much as I want to sit here and beat
- 7:43Speaker 1: my chest about Michigan, like the thing that makes me
- 7:45Speaker 1: so prideful in Michigan is like when the back's against
- 7:47Speaker 1: the wall, they scratch and claw and fight and you're
- 7:49Speaker 1: gonna you're gonna walk away, You're gonna miss it. You're
- 7:51Speaker 1: being missing a limb broken, like you're gonna have you're
- 7:53Speaker 1: gonna beat up when you play Michigan. And that game,
- 7:57Speaker 1: we had our guys getting hurt. Their guys are celebrating
- 8:00Speaker 1: on the sideline in the fourth quarter. They run for
- 8:02Speaker 1: what was it, two and twenty five yards.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Over five yards per carry, over five yards per carry.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And that's not with their starting running back in the
- 8:09Speaker 1: second in the Big ten. Now that that's not with
- 8:11Speaker 1: their second string bag that's what they walk on running
- 8:13Speaker 1: back and the mistackles. So yeah, we got our ass beat.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Good news.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Ro oh.
- 8:20Speaker 1: No, this week and I'll be I told JP this
- 8:23Speaker 1: before we started. I'll be putting a two leg parlay together.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It's a two little it'll be Michigan money line in
- 8:28Speaker 1: South Carolina money line. Because we're in October right now, Baby,
- 8:31Speaker 1: we gotta get it done.
- 8:32Speaker 3: I think, don't you guys have a buye?
- 8:34Speaker 4: No?
- 8:34Speaker 1: We play Washington this week? Yeah, this week and yeah, five.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Opened up at five and a half before Washington open.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Up at five and a half point favorite in the
- 8:43Speaker 1: Big House.
- 8:44Speaker 2: In the Big House, Washington got down twenty one to
- 8:46Speaker 2: Maryland and were on the road.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I know twenty four in the fourth quarter to win.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Washington is a tough team, Like the only team they've
- 8:53Speaker 3: lost to is Owaha State.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah, what do they do really well? Throw the ball? Well,
- 8:57Speaker 1: they got a good running back, they do rpo, they
- 8:59Speaker 1: get the ball out really asked. I think, what's the
- 9:01Speaker 1: quarterbacks name for usc? Mayava? Mayava? He got They were
- 9:06Speaker 1: showing it during the game like he was eating the
- 9:07Speaker 1: ball out in like one point three seconds. Good play,
- 9:10Speaker 1: like getting the ball making fast decisions. Like the pass rush.
- 9:13Speaker 1: They're like they know our pass rush is really good.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And they just, oh, they know our pass rush is
- 9:21Speaker 1: really good, so they just decided to.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Take care of it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: They did a great They did a great job. They
- 9:27Speaker 1: did it. There's some scheme things I wasn't a fan of,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, it's mazing blue.
- 9:30Speaker 1: We got to handle the Huskies.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Can I say this though ahead, You did not disappear
- 9:34Speaker 2: Saturday night. You were vulnerable, you were hurt, and you
- 9:36Speaker 2: were bleeding, but you were texting through it. You were
- 9:39Speaker 2: texting through I was texting through it. And there are
- 9:41Speaker 2: a lot of parentheses after the text.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I just text Peyton, I'm like, I'm so sorry, because
- 9:47Speaker 1: his whole thing was I got a Michigan problem until
- 9:49Speaker 1: Michigan proves me wrong. And I'm like, hey, I'm I'm
- 9:52Speaker 1: so sorry. We let you down. Literally the next play
- 9:55Speaker 1: probably underword to Marsh sixty four yard bomb, we're probably down.
- 9:58Speaker 2: We're backing it, we're probably yeah, yeah, yeah, we're probably not.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Like we're trying to reverse psychology. Text that text mess
- 10:04Speaker 1: exactly what I needed to do.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Because remember that's all we needed after the Nebraska game.
- 10:10Speaker 2: For the viewers who don't know, you're laying on the
- 10:12Speaker 2: field out there and it's tough. You've lost, and I've
- 10:15Speaker 2: lost a bet you've won. I go in the Michigan
- 10:17Speaker 2: locker room with you. You're celebrating, You're holding up the
- 10:19Speaker 2: bus and bowl trophy. Everyone's happy in there, and I
- 10:21Speaker 2: just kind of got to stand off on the cycles.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I'm the only guy in that whole room that picked
- 10:26Speaker 2: Michigan to lose the game. But and in the Michigan
- 10:29Speaker 2: locker room after the game, and everyone keeps making eye
- 10:31Speaker 2: contact with me. You keep making eye contact with me.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Everyone keeps making eye contact with me, And I'm in
- 10:36Speaker 2: there learning a lesson. I'm just never going against this
- 10:38Speaker 2: team again. When I'm on the fence, I'm gonna I'm
- 10:41Speaker 2: gonna ride with Michigan. And I rode with Michigan and
- 10:43Speaker 2: we crashed. This is what it feels like.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, good you Were you riding with Michigan for the
- 10:48Speaker 3: Michigan problem or did you, in your heart of hearts
- 10:51Speaker 3: think Michigan was gonna win that game?
- 10:52Speaker 2: Kind of both The model liked Michigan. I thought I
- 10:55Speaker 2: liked Michigan. I had the Michigan problem to overcome. So
- 10:59Speaker 2: now what do I do. I'm probably gonna pick them
- 11:01Speaker 2: begin against Washington. I don't really know what to do.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I feel like no matter what. I feel like no
- 11:06Speaker 2: matter what, because see, I thought Kansas may have Texas
- 11:09Speaker 2: Tech on upset alert a little bit too, so I
- 11:11Speaker 2: said it, and then I get text from the Texas
- 11:12Speaker 2: Tech staff after they blow him out. Hey bro, you
- 11:14Speaker 2: helped us out. Thanks. That puts me in a no
- 11:16Speaker 2: win position. If I vocalize that someone's on upset alert
- 11:20Speaker 2: and then they weaponize it in their building and the
- 11:21Speaker 2: upset doesn't happen because of me. What do we really
- 11:24Speaker 2: do at that point? Do I just write all my
- 11:25Speaker 2: picks in an envelope, don't say it on air?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, these were my picks. Yeah, you should do that
- 11:32Speaker 1: one week. Trust it keeps going.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Trust bee bro.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah it is. You've put yourself in this position though,
- 11:39Speaker 1: going back to sitting in the car listening people open
- 11:42Speaker 1: stuff up, putting the volume down, and going through the
- 11:43Speaker 1: whole segment yourself. You've done great now people.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Listen hoops to amongst us thought it would turn into
- 11:48Speaker 2: this though not.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I don't know how are you feeling about the rest
- 11:51Speaker 3: of the season for Michigan.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's all winnable, like, but how are you feeling when.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You watch, because again I had USC and my whole
- 11:59Speaker 3: thought process was the way Michigan goes about things offensively,
- 12:05Speaker 3: like as far as a lot of it has moved
- 12:06Speaker 3: the pocket, you're wanting to run the ball. The way
- 12:10Speaker 3: the resume that they had was they had these these
- 12:12Speaker 3: big explosive runs by your running backs that kind of
- 12:15Speaker 3: you know, it's got Haynes top of the league or
- 12:17Speaker 3: top of the country in rushing yards and everything else.
- 12:20Speaker 3: But it's like if teams are able to keep the
- 12:23Speaker 3: explosives from happening and you're behind.
- 12:25Speaker 2: And they broke explosives on your.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Right and you're behind, like, it's just it doesn't seem
- 12:30Speaker 3: like a team that's built to like come from behind
- 12:34Speaker 3: keep up offensively. So that's where my question comes in. Like,
- 12:38Speaker 3: when you have washing coming in, you kind of look
- 12:39Speaker 3: at the rest of the year and you kind of
- 12:40Speaker 3: see what Michigan has been doing offensively from your vantage
- 12:44Speaker 3: point when you're watching at home, it's like, how are
- 12:46Speaker 3: you feeling about the Michigan one?
- 12:47Speaker 1: When when I'm watching that game, there's so many things
- 12:49Speaker 1: that I look at that's okay, that's all you can
- 12:52Speaker 1: fix that The mistackles you can fix like USC goes
- 12:55Speaker 1: down in the first drive and Scoes seven should have
- 12:57Speaker 1: been off. Its pass interference should have absolutely been off.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's a pass interference. However it wasn't. And then we
- 13:02Speaker 1: go and it's like, Okay, the noise has been what
- 13:05Speaker 1: you just said. Michion has to run the football to
- 13:07Speaker 1: be successful. They get these explosives. If you take away
- 13:11Speaker 1: the explosives, then Michigan's not. But it's like you can
- 13:14Speaker 1: say that all you want. However, it's like Michigan, Hey,
- 13:17Speaker 1: don't get the explosives, but every game, Michigan gets the explosives.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So like what kind of back and forth we really
- 13:22Speaker 1: did with it? Seemed to me that like Michigan was
- 13:25Speaker 1: really starting to find in the Wisconsin game, they're a
- 13:28Speaker 1: passing threat, where it's like, Okay, McCaulay starts to come
- 13:31Speaker 1: on a little bit. This Mars kid, who's a five
- 13:32Speaker 1: star freshman, he's really starting to figure out the playbook.
- 13:35Speaker 1: He's got great hands. During the course of the game,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you realize these guys have really put a lot of
- 13:39Speaker 1: intention in the drop ball. So I think there was
- 13:41Speaker 1: maybe one, if not zero. So it's like, okay, you
- 13:44Speaker 1: see there's some level of course correction there. But you
- 13:47Speaker 1: start the first game with a three and out and
- 13:48Speaker 1: you try to throw the ball three times, and it's like, well,
- 13:52Speaker 1: that's not what we're saying. When we need to have
- 13:54Speaker 1: a vertical threat, it's like, let's utilize the run game.
- 13:57Speaker 1: We know the safety's going to come in the box.
- 13:58Speaker 1: We know for everybody's playing Michigan, you've got to stop
- 14:01Speaker 1: the run, So take advantage of it with the pass
- 14:03Speaker 1: and be a little more fifty to fifty. Be creative
- 14:06Speaker 1: in your past, be creative in your motions, and it
- 14:09Speaker 1: just seemed like Lincoln Riley had a better game plan
- 14:12Speaker 1: going into that from an offensive standpoint against our defense,
- 14:15Speaker 1: and their defense put us in third and long situations
- 14:18Speaker 1: and we're able to feast. Like it's said sometimes when
- 14:20Speaker 1: it's snowballs. Looking to the rest of the year, I
- 14:24Speaker 1: think there's a lot of times where teams are a
- 14:27Speaker 1: lot better than the way they played, and that's the
- 14:30Speaker 1: mission is a perfect example for that. They got their
- 14:32Speaker 1: ass kicked. And now you go into a team that
- 14:36Speaker 1: everyone in the Big Ten respects. Washington is a football club.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You get them in the East Coast time zone, you
- 14:40Speaker 1: get them for them what would be at nine am kickoff,
- 14:43Speaker 1: because it's playing at eleven or noon, and so now
- 14:47Speaker 1: it's like, okay, let's run the ball effectively, Let's be creative.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Let's move the.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Pockwet Brice underward and show sustained drives. Let our defense
- 14:55Speaker 1: have a comeback game and say, hey, I know we've
- 14:58Speaker 1: failed last game because we have five hundredards off. It's
- 15:00Speaker 1: put on us. But let's let's redirect receivers at the
- 15:04Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. Let's push back the offensive line. Let's
- 15:09Speaker 1: form tackle and if we're not a good position to
- 15:11Speaker 1: be to tackle, let's slow a guide down so the
- 15:13Speaker 1: calvalry can come. Let's see team football starting to happen,
- 15:16Speaker 1: because all these games are winnable. And then you've got
- 15:19Speaker 1: ohiosted at the end of the year, which we've been
- 15:21Speaker 1: four and oh against. So it's like it's not like
- 15:23Speaker 1: the season's over. It's just now you've put yourself in
- 15:26Speaker 1: a position where it's basically a win and go home.
- 15:28Speaker 1: If you think you're a college football team.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah that's about USC man, USC look good.
- 15:33Speaker 2: This is the week.
- 15:34Speaker 3: What are your thoughts?
- 15:35Speaker 1: Who they play this week?
- 15:36Speaker 2: They are playing at Notre Dame this week. Yeah, a
- 15:39Speaker 2: lot of Southern cow fans wanted to paint last week
- 15:41Speaker 2: as the statement week, and I was very careful because
- 15:44Speaker 2: I don't believe that was a statement, because I don't
- 15:45Speaker 2: believe you make a statement against teams your favorite against.
- 15:48Speaker 2: You make a statement by going on the road. You
- 15:50Speaker 2: do the whole cross country time zone thing. You go
- 15:53Speaker 2: play a team that is physically superior to you, has
- 15:56Speaker 2: been talent wise superior to you, in part because the
- 15:59Speaker 2: general manager for you now is who put that roster
- 16:02Speaker 2: together in Chad Boden. That would be the statement to me.
- 16:05Speaker 2: But it wasn't very impressive that USC did what they did.
- 16:09Speaker 2: They held Michigan. I think there long as we run
- 16:10Speaker 2: was thirteen yards, by the way, So they totally inverted
- 16:13Speaker 2: the game script the way people like me and you
- 16:15Speaker 2: thought it would play out. Okay, Now, if USC were
- 16:19Speaker 2: to go to Notre Dame and win, two things happened there.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Notre Dame's out of the playoff. That's the first thing
- 16:24Speaker 2: that happens. The second thing that happens is USC is
- 16:26Speaker 2: a bona fide playoff threat. Third thing that happens is
- 16:29Speaker 2: you all of a sudden look at Oregon's schedule down
- 16:32Speaker 2: the road, and you realize, oh wow, USC goes to
- 16:35Speaker 2: Oregon in November, and that becomes a monster game. So
- 16:38Speaker 2: a bunch of dominoes could fall Saturday just with that game,
- 16:41Speaker 2: and then the fourth domino up the road in ann
- 16:44Speaker 2: Arbor is We're sitting in this world where James Franklin,
- 16:47Speaker 2: who I assume we're about to talk about, was in
- 16:50Speaker 2: overtime with Oregon top five ranking sixteen days ago and
- 16:56Speaker 2: now he's out of a job, which shows you how
- 16:58Speaker 2: fast things can change in college football right now, so
- 17:00Speaker 2: I'm thinking about everybody. But since we were just talking
- 17:02Speaker 2: about Michigan, Michigan is a two lost team right now.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yep.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Okay, the Washington line opened at like five and a
- 17:08Speaker 2: half at home, not a lot of separation there. But
- 17:11Speaker 2: yet no one will be thinking on Monday or Tuesday
- 17:14Speaker 2: or Wednesday of this week really worried about Washington Michigan.
- 17:17Speaker 2: That's a Michigan thing. Only the rest of the college
- 17:19Speaker 2: football public's not thinking about that. Right If all of
- 17:21Speaker 2: a sudden, Washington pulls an upset and that just gets
- 17:24Speaker 2: sprung on America Saturday, the noise would be turned from
- 17:28Speaker 2: like three to seven on the Michigan staff. I like
- 17:31Speaker 2: those dudes, like I would prefer that not to happen,
- 17:33Speaker 2: but I would have preferred it not to happen to
- 17:34Speaker 2: James either. So I'm just saying, man, there are a
- 17:36Speaker 2: lot of conversations happening behind the scenes because that snowball
- 17:40Speaker 2: got kicked downhill with Penn State, and now the folks
- 17:42Speaker 2: at Auburn are talking, the folks at Florida are talking,
- 17:45Speaker 2: the folks at Michigan have been whispering a little bit.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I think it turns into an outright talk, not a scream,
- 17:51Speaker 2: but an not right talk if that happens Saturday.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 1: The bummer about that is the Michigan Twitter world, the
- 17:56Speaker 1: social media world of Michigan is louder than ever about
- 17:59Speaker 1: that circumstance. And I think it's a you've got to
- 18:01Speaker 1: essentially went out to a hot state for the fan base.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I don't know what goes on behind with everybody else,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but like for me, like as soon as the game
- 18:10Speaker 1: in text, sure on, hey man, keep your head up, yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: gotta keep it going, yeah, like the boys hopefully hopefully
- 18:14Speaker 1: everyone's healthy.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah. I want to be very clear, So when we're
- 18:16Speaker 2: talking about this like, I think a lot of this
- 18:18Speaker 2: is insane. I thought it was crazy the way they
- 18:20Speaker 2: were talking about Ryan Day last year. I learned it
- 18:22Speaker 2: doesn't matter what I think, because I learned I'm not
- 18:24Speaker 2: making decisions in these athletic departments. And in some cases
- 18:28Speaker 2: boosters are, in other cases administrators are. So what I
- 18:32Speaker 2: learned to do is just echo the reality. The reality,
- 18:36Speaker 2: regardless of whether I like it or not, is there's
- 18:38Speaker 2: gonna be a ton of noise around him. But they
- 18:39Speaker 2: don't win Saturday, and if they don't keep on winning,
- 18:42Speaker 2: like I think eight and four puts them on very
- 18:44Speaker 2: thin ice with hot blades, and they're a two loss
- 18:46Speaker 2: team right now.
- 18:47Speaker 1: And here here's let's let's go down the world. Can
- 18:50Speaker 1: you actually pull up? What was I going to say
- 18:53Speaker 1: to pull up? I forget what it was you mentioned something. Anyway,
- 18:57Speaker 1: I started going down the avenue of like, okay, what's
- 18:59Speaker 1: our well, it's our recruiting class. Look like, what kind
- 19:02Speaker 1: of things do we need where we're top ten recruiting class? Yep,
- 19:04Speaker 1: you have a lot of key freshman sophomore guys that
- 19:08Speaker 1: are playing already that are showing a lot of like,
- 19:10Speaker 1: oh hey, we got some guys coming up. What happens
- 19:13Speaker 1: and you got Bryce Underwood, and you got Bryce Underwood.
- 19:15Speaker 1: What happens if that staff isn't there next year?
- 19:18Speaker 2: Okay, remember this, So two things are happening. Firstly, Michigan
- 19:21Speaker 2: recruits itself. That's the first thing they're banking on. That
- 19:25Speaker 2: rather Yeah, that Michigan recruits itself. Guys are there for Michigan,
- 19:28Speaker 2: not for one coach, whether that's real or not. That's
- 19:30Speaker 2: what they're banking on. Number two, the rule just changed
- 19:32Speaker 2: in the NCAA. It was up until about five minutes ago.
- 19:36Speaker 2: If your coach gets fired, your entire roster can enter
- 19:39Speaker 2: the portal for the next thirty days and your class
- 19:41Speaker 2: falls apart and whatever. Now the rule for your roster
- 19:44Speaker 2: is you got to wait till the next coach is hired,
- 19:46Speaker 2: which may or may not be legal, but that's the
- 19:48Speaker 2: rule right now. So your roster's not going to immediately evaporate.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Number two, Michigan is very very well bankrolled, So I
- 19:55Speaker 2: think before they ever made a move, in a hypothetical
- 19:58Speaker 2: alternate universe where they made a coach move, I think
- 20:01Speaker 2: they would proactively make sure all their guys are locked
- 20:03Speaker 2: up and taking care of financially roster wise before they
- 20:06Speaker 2: ever touched the coaching staff. So I don't really see
- 20:09Speaker 2: this cataclysmic falling apart of the recruiting class falling a
- 20:13Speaker 2: part of the roster unless guys are just so loyal
- 20:17Speaker 2: to your current head coach. This goes for anyone unless
- 20:19Speaker 2: they're just so loyal that they want to make a statement, Yeah,
- 20:22Speaker 2: you fired my guy. That's why I was here. I'm out.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Some of that may happen with Penn State. I don't
- 20:26Speaker 2: know what's gonna happen with Penn State's roster.
- 20:28Speaker 1: You see the I think Penn State had like the
- 20:29Speaker 1: number two running back. Yeah, I thought that header kid
- 20:33Speaker 1: was the number one running back. Got you twenty twenty
- 20:37Speaker 1: seven running back? I think even before the game, he's like,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm not one hundred percent committed to Penn State anymore.
- 20:43Speaker 1: After James Frainer gets fired, he's now decommitted from Penn State.
- 20:47Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean there's a lot of things that happened,
- 20:50Speaker 1: just other than a head coach decides or a program
- 20:53Speaker 1: besides the firehead coach. All these kids are looking at
- 20:56Speaker 1: that and like, Okay, I want stability in my life.
- 20:58Speaker 1: One thing you do like I didn't realize that's so
- 21:00Speaker 1: important when I was going to college. Is like, is
- 21:02Speaker 1: the head coach going to be there for all four years?
- 21:04Speaker 1: When you were there, I had to go through two coaches.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You were able to play your whole career with one coach.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of recruits are pretty I guess. Look,
- 21:11Speaker 3: I speak for myself, like I committed mainly to the
- 21:13Speaker 3: coaching staff. I feel like a lot of recruits basically
- 21:16Speaker 3: commit to the coaching staff. I know everybody says, like,
- 21:18Speaker 3: pick the school, pick the school, and that could be
- 21:20Speaker 3: great advice, but I feel like you just get caught
- 21:23Speaker 3: up in your relationships with the staff. You want them
- 21:25Speaker 3: to be there the whole time. So when somebody when
- 21:26Speaker 3: they leave, if they leave, make either lateral move or
- 21:29Speaker 3: get fired or whatever. I feel like that kind of
- 21:31Speaker 3: affects the roster. What do you see happening? We have
- 21:34Speaker 3: a tier talk here from Jared Ladd hashtag tear talk.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Where does Franklin go from here? Part of me seeing
- 21:39Speaker 3: like I've just been in the Nebraska world. But it's
- 21:42Speaker 3: happened at Auburn, it's happened at Florida. But when Nebraska
- 21:46Speaker 3: fired Polini because they're so fed up with nine ten
- 21:49Speaker 3: win seasons. Then you just see the decade downturn of
- 21:54Speaker 3: what Nebraska and the fans and the world has had
- 21:56Speaker 3: to go through since firing Bo Polini. Where do you
- 21:59Speaker 3: think think Franklin goes from here? What do you think
- 22:01Speaker 3: it means for Penn State? Do you think Penn State
- 22:04Speaker 3: is gonna hit when they get this next head coach,
- 22:06Speaker 3: whoever it may be.
- 22:09Speaker 2: If I were him, you wouldn't see me for either
- 22:11Speaker 2: you wouldn't see me for two years or I'd go
- 22:13Speaker 2: do TV. Because I've got a theory on this. Like
- 22:15Speaker 2: my theory is, I think when you're fired, if you're
- 22:18Speaker 2: fired as a head coach right now, James Franklin, for example,
- 22:22Speaker 2: very high profile coach. Okay, so been very successful up
- 22:26Speaker 2: until the last two weeks, basically been very successful. Dan
- 22:29Speaker 2: Mullen got fired at Florida. Dan Mullen did it right.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Dan Mullen went and sat on TV for a few years,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and you're just a genius on TV. You get to
- 22:37Speaker 2: be the one who second guesses, You get to be
- 22:40Speaker 2: the one who doesn't have to make the call and
- 22:42Speaker 2: live with the consequences. You just get to commentate. You
- 22:44Speaker 2: get to do what we do all the time. All
- 22:46Speaker 2: coaches sound like geniuses on TV. All coaches stocks go
- 22:50Speaker 2: up on TV. Go sit on TV. You're making buyout
- 22:53Speaker 2: money anyway, they're gonna have to pay you fifty plus
- 22:55Speaker 2: million dollars. See your family go sit on a beach
- 22:58Speaker 2: every now and then. But also what you do privately,
- 23:00Speaker 2: behind the scenes, is you circulate sort of your James
- 23:02Speaker 2: Franklin two point zero plan, or here are the lessons
- 23:05Speaker 2: I learned, Here's why it went sideways at Penn State.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Here's how I'm going to acclimate to the new landscape
- 23:11Speaker 2: of college football. If you hire me, here's who i'd hire,
- 23:14Speaker 2: blah blah blah. Then you wait and you select the
- 23:18Speaker 2: on ramp back to coaching. That's what I would do.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I don't think he's going to do that. Everything I've
- 23:22Speaker 2: heard is he's looking to get right back into coaching,
- 23:25Speaker 2: like maybe the UCLA job for example.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Maybe he looks at that, he says, taken.
- 23:31Speaker 2: That's actually true. Job looks okay, right, Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I think, well, yeah, I'll get that.
- 23:38Speaker 3: I'm confident. Look, if everybody else is on board with it,
- 23:41Speaker 3: is that.
- 23:41Speaker 2: A state college area code.
- 23:46Speaker 3: If the entire college football world's on board with it.
- 23:49Speaker 3: I'm good with UCLA just being two to zero and
- 23:51Speaker 3: they've just had they had they get to reset their
- 23:53Speaker 3: season with this interim head coach because they've been on
- 23:56Speaker 3: fire just these last two weeks.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I get I can get on that. I think
- 23:59Speaker 1: you say it might have to be ranked now they're
- 24:01Speaker 1: undefeated team.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yeah, they're undefeated right now with him, with him as
- 24:04Speaker 3: a head coach.
- 24:05Speaker 2: They are what I needed South Carolina to be. It's
- 24:09Speaker 2: BRIT's brewin Tober. It's not October right now, it's brewin Tober.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Then again, Oklahoma comes to town Saturday, so let's see
- 24:14Speaker 2: anyway money line.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Oklahoma money line this week? Oh sorry, except for
- 24:20Speaker 1: lying them. Yeah, my fault, my fault, my fault.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 1: It's interesting.
- 24:23Speaker 3: But also for Penn State fans celebrating this in such
- 24:26Speaker 3: a way, do you feel like.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I don't believe Greener? Yeah, I get it though.
- 24:31Speaker 3: That's where I sit there and think, like I had
- 24:33Speaker 3: a close friend of mine, Jeff d Low. He hits
- 24:37Speaker 3: me up. I think he's a Yes. I think he
- 24:40Speaker 3: sent me a clip of yours and was just talking
- 24:42Speaker 3: about like it being he's of the camp of happy
- 24:47Speaker 3: Franklin's out of there. It needed to happen. He fails
- 24:51Speaker 3: or as this is on the banner one and eighteen
- 24:53Speaker 3: against top what is it, top five, Top ten opponents
- 24:56Speaker 3: or AP opponents, And I'm sitting there message with him.
- 24:59Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, I feel you, bro, I promise you
- 25:01Speaker 3: I feel you. But the only experience I have is
- 25:04Speaker 3: same kind of thing, like a fan base is so
- 25:07Speaker 3: fed up with bo Polini. I was like, now, I
- 25:09Speaker 3: don't think you guys go out and higher, you know,
- 25:11Speaker 3: like an average coach, like we ended up going out
- 25:13Speaker 3: and getting Mike Ryleery that kind. I started the buy
- 25:14Speaker 3: and then we completely whipped on Scott Frost. I don't
- 25:16Speaker 3: think that'll happen because they have the resources, they have
- 25:19Speaker 3: the funds.
- 25:19Speaker 1: There's got to be a.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Sure thing out there. It doesn't matter if you got
- 25:22Speaker 2: well billions of dollars is different, But it doesn't matter
- 25:25Speaker 2: whether you're well resourced. If you're paying fifty plus million
- 25:28Speaker 2: dollars to fire a guy or you're just getting rid
- 25:31Speaker 2: of them, even if you didn't have to pay the buyout,
- 25:32Speaker 2: although that's reality, so you're paying the buyout. There's got
- 25:35Speaker 2: to be a definitive upgrade right for you to be confident.
- 25:38Speaker 2: So I understand Penn State fan cinema. First off, you're
- 25:41Speaker 2: looking at Ohio State and you're saying to yourself, Man,
- 25:44Speaker 2: I invest emotionally like my buddy Mike does. I invest
- 25:48Speaker 2: financially like my buddy Mike, the season ticket holder at
- 25:51Speaker 2: Ohio State does. Why can't I get the results he gets?
- 25:54Speaker 2: Why can't we get the results they get? Why can't
- 25:55Speaker 2: we get the results Michigan's gotten. They've both won At
- 25:58Speaker 2: the end, it was Signetti yeah, and then he makes
- 26:00Speaker 2: a lot of people look bad because he's doing it
- 26:02Speaker 2: way quicker than everyone who's been there a long time.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But you're looking at it and you're saying, Okay, I
- 26:06Speaker 2: don't want to just be very good. I would rather
- 26:08Speaker 2: take my chances and jump into the fog and try
- 26:12Speaker 2: and grab the grate. But with the risk that we
- 26:15Speaker 2: fall into terrible I would just rather take that risk.
- 26:18Speaker 2: That's emotion thinking. That is not logic thinking. But I
- 26:21Speaker 2: understand it because you're not supposed to be logical as
- 26:23Speaker 2: a fan. You're not supposed to So I'm sitting on
- 26:26Speaker 2: the outside, I'm not emotional about it, and I'm trying
- 26:28Speaker 2: to be more logical. And I'm trying to say you
- 26:31Speaker 2: could do two things at once. You could admit we've
- 26:34Speaker 2: just been pretty good. We haven't been great. We want
- 26:36Speaker 2: to be great. He needs to make changes to be great. Okay,
- 26:39Speaker 2: that's hand a while hand B also says, man, there's
- 26:43Speaker 2: so much further you could fall and making this move
- 26:45Speaker 2: than room to climb. And so I look at that
- 26:48Speaker 2: proposition and I say, does it really make sense to
- 26:50Speaker 2: make the move? Does it really make sense to pull
- 26:52Speaker 2: the trigger and fire him, not put pressure on him,
- 26:54Speaker 2: fire him? And I thought the answer was no. I
- 26:57Speaker 2: thought it's insane. They got's thirty four and eight with
- 27:00Speaker 2: three double digit win seasons over the past three years.
- 27:03Speaker 2: He was I cannot stress this enough for people who
- 27:05Speaker 2: were mainly NFL and just kind of dabbling college. The
- 27:08Speaker 2: guy was in overtime against Oregon sixteen days ago with
- 27:12Speaker 2: a top five ranking next to his name and the
- 27:14Speaker 2: lead in the game. And he's out of a job now,
- 27:17Speaker 2: twelve years in to his tenure. And remember when he
- 27:20Speaker 2: took the job, they weren't that far removed from crippling
- 27:23Speaker 2: scandal Like Penn State had huge stains on their brand
- 27:28Speaker 2: that extended well beyond football publicly when you mentioned Penn State,
- 27:31Speaker 2: no one taught football. They talked other terrible stuff, And
- 27:33Speaker 2: James Franklin comes in and correct me if I'm wrong.
- 27:36Speaker 2: There hasn't been a whiff of scandal since he's been there.
- 27:38Speaker 2: So my thinking was just how does this guy not
- 27:41Speaker 2: have more equity built up than this?
- 27:44Speaker 3: How much?
- 27:44Speaker 2: How much very very good can you turn in before
- 27:48Speaker 2: people just get fed up with very good and in
- 27:51Speaker 2: pursuit of great take this kind of risk because this
- 27:54Speaker 2: is a huge risk. And like you said, Okay, if
- 27:58Speaker 2: you want to go and you want to upgrade, that's fine.
- 28:00Speaker 2: If there were a guaranteed upgrade out there, I would
- 28:02Speaker 2: support this move. James Franklin himself logically couldn't push back
- 28:06Speaker 2: on this move. If you told James, hey, so and
- 28:09Speaker 2: so is available, like Nick Sabe Kirby Smart, Kirby Smart's
- 28:13Speaker 2: available and he wants to come to Penn State, even
- 28:15Speaker 2: James Franklin would have to say, yeah, you guys got
- 28:17Speaker 2: to make this move. Favared my money, You got to
- 28:20Speaker 2: make this move. Kirby's not available, None of the top
- 28:23Speaker 2: coaches are available. So again we're not talking about Penn
- 28:25Speaker 2: State having been terrible. We're talking about them floating in
- 28:28Speaker 2: about the eight to fifteen range right over the past
- 28:30Speaker 2: few years. So to upgrade, you've either got to go
- 28:33Speaker 2: get one of the top eight coaches in the country,
- 28:35Speaker 2: none of whom are going to leave where they are
- 28:37Speaker 2: right now. Or you've got to have such a sure
- 28:39Speaker 2: fire candidate out there. Maybe it's a hot shot coordinator,
- 28:42Speaker 2: or maybe it's a coach that I don't know is
- 28:44Speaker 2: like re emerging on the landscape and you're gonna be
- 28:47Speaker 2: his final step. You're hiring for the next fifteen years.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I don't see that. Like, do you know, I'm a
- 28:52Speaker 2: huge Matt Campbell guy. I'd hire him tomorrow if I
- 28:55Speaker 2: had an opening. But even I'll admit, with Matt Campbell,
- 28:58Speaker 2: that's not such a sure slam. I'm dunk that I'm
- 29:01Speaker 2: gonna fire James Franklin and pay him fifty million dollars
- 29:03Speaker 2: not to work here anymore, because I think Matt Campbell
- 29:06Speaker 2: may work out there. Like Matt Campbell's a ball coach,
- 29:09Speaker 2: and I get tout him until the sun goes down today,
- 29:12Speaker 2: and I think he would be a home run higher
- 29:14Speaker 2: for whoever had a job opening, because he's done great
- 29:17Speaker 2: things at a historically terrible program at Iowa State. I
- 29:20Speaker 2: don't know that I'm paying fifty million dollars to get
- 29:22Speaker 2: the other guy out of the seat just to find
- 29:24Speaker 2: out though. That's where my head's out.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta you have to know, Okay, we're getting
- 29:28Speaker 1: we're making this big of a move in sixteen days.
- 29:31Speaker 1: They have to know on their head, we know who
- 29:32Speaker 1: are next guys? And that text mess just going out
- 29:35Speaker 1: that burner phone has come out and be like, hey,
- 29:37Speaker 1: what do you think? Yeah, I would make that move.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Do you think they know who their target is or
- 29:42Speaker 3: who their guy is? Like, you're very connected in the
- 29:44Speaker 3: college football world and what you've seen because you watch Listen.
- 29:48Speaker 3: We'll be watching Thursday night football and I see you
- 29:50Speaker 3: tweeting about some game that's happening in college football.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Not some game. It's Miami Ohio Toledo.
- 29:57Speaker 3: That's an instinct rivalry game. So he coaches coordinators up
- 30:02Speaker 3: and comers, like, what is this list looking like for
- 30:05Speaker 3: Penn State? Like what are coaches that are you know,
- 30:08Speaker 3: for any of the jobs that might be opening up.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Before you answer that question, CBS had a whole report
- 30:14Speaker 1: on this. Have you seen that CBS report those are
- 30:16Speaker 1: your friends.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I can't remember which report it was.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Maybe it was about who the next head coaches. They said,
- 30:21Speaker 1: and I quote, it starts here and it finishes here.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I saw that one. I saw that one. You're talking
- 30:27Speaker 3: about my boy, You're talking about my second father.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I think I think the odds came out too, and
- 30:31Speaker 1: your boy is the number one front runner right here.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Hang on to your talk. Need Josh Bake to whisper
- 30:37Speaker 3: in my ear that rule won't go to Penn State.
- 30:39Speaker 1: If you're talking, turbulence is happening. The flight attendants looking
- 30:42Speaker 1: at us that she's not good right now, Hey, having
- 30:46Speaker 1: a conversation. We're having a conversation.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Doors shut, bust, door shut. I'm looking at you, okay.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I know, and you know, and you know that I
- 30:56Speaker 2: know that you know that that's your burner. I know that,
- 31:00Speaker 2: and I know that you want me to put your
- 31:01Speaker 2: mind at ease.
- 31:02Speaker 4: And you know.
- 31:02Speaker 2: I think it would be terrible if Matt left Nebraska
- 31:04Speaker 2: to go to Penn State. I think the CBS report
- 31:09Speaker 2: is right that that's their target because I think Pat
- 31:12Speaker 2: Craft and Matt rule. I mean, if you and I
- 31:13Speaker 2: vacation together and I'm the ad somewhere, and I think
- 31:16Speaker 2: that the job that I have control love is superior
- 31:18Speaker 2: to the job you have. Yeah, I'm going to offer
- 31:20Speaker 2: you the job. That's not the question. The question is
- 31:22Speaker 2: not is that their target? Because I think that may
- 31:24Speaker 2: be their target. The question is going to be is
- 31:28Speaker 2: he willing to leave? That's going to be the question. Yeah, yes,
- 31:32Speaker 2: he's gonna be willing to leave.
- 31:34Speaker 3: No, no, no, I'm I'm saying I understand. I understand
- 31:37Speaker 3: what you're saying. I think the rumors are very real.
- 31:40Speaker 3: I think the pressure will be at an all time high,
- 31:43Speaker 3: and I think it just comes down to what's in
- 31:46Speaker 3: coach rules, brain and heart.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I'm not trying to say he's not leaving. I hope
- 31:52Speaker 3: that these that these rumors aren't true, that they're not targeting.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I think all of that is very real. I just
- 31:59Speaker 3: I don't know what is in his heart, mind and
- 32:01Speaker 3: soul because I know he was a walk on there.
- 32:03Speaker 3: I know he's an East Coast guy. I know he's
- 32:06Speaker 3: got you know, ties, their family, ties, friends, everything like
- 32:10Speaker 3: Penn State. When he came and took the Nebraska job,
- 32:13Speaker 3: You've kind of understood a little bit of this. Now
- 32:14Speaker 3: I'm understanding more of it. So I don't know what's
- 32:18Speaker 3: going on in his brain, but I do know that
- 32:22Speaker 3: in my opinion, he's grown and as he's been there.
- 32:26Speaker 3: He's on his third year now. He absolutely loves Nebraska.
- 32:30Speaker 3: His wife, his family loves Nebraska. He moved his family,
- 32:33Speaker 3: He moved some of his family over to Lincoln, Nebraska.
- 32:35Speaker 3: His wife has a business in Nebraska, his son is
- 32:38Speaker 3: a sophomore at unl At Nebraska, you get everything you
- 32:41Speaker 3: want at Nebraska, money, resources, facilities, you got recruiting classes.
- 32:47Speaker 3: He's got a lot of things set up to where
- 32:49Speaker 3: it's like you have some business that not only finished,
- 32:53Speaker 3: but you can be a legacy guy at the University
- 32:56Speaker 3: of Nebraska. I'm not talking anybody in particular, but we
- 33:01Speaker 3: got a lot of good shit happening in Lincoln to
- 33:04Speaker 3: where I just I think that as real as him
- 33:07Speaker 3: and him being boys with the A D. But he's
- 33:09Speaker 3: also very much great friends boys with the ad Troy
- 33:12Speaker 3: Dana and at Nebraska. I think that this is now
- 33:16Speaker 3: he's got emotional ties year and this is a program
- 33:19Speaker 3: that he legitimately wants to build and win championships with.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Do you know who Greg Madison is?
- 33:26Speaker 3: I know who Greg maddox Is.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Was yeah, both white moles. He was a defensive cornator.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I think he was with the Ravens for a little
- 33:34Speaker 1: bit and then it came to the University of Michigan.
- 33:38Speaker 1: He loved Michigan. He loved an arbor. His wife, kids, family,
- 33:42Speaker 1: everyone moved there. They started themselves a little shop and
- 33:44Speaker 1: on Main Street called Rock paper Scissors. It was like
- 33:46Speaker 1: a cute trinket store. Right holiday season. What could take place?
- 33:49Speaker 1: You go over there, get some fun ornaments for trees.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Spootoba would take place. You have a whole bunch of
- 33:54Speaker 1: stuff to kind of make your house a little more festive.
- 33:58Speaker 1: A year after I left, he went to Ohio State
- 34:02Speaker 1: because he had ties at Ohio State, and.
- 34:04Speaker 2: He's on record saying it's the worst decision of his life.
- 34:06Speaker 2: He didn't say that.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Rock paper Scissors is still there and it's actually functioning
- 34:10Speaker 1: very well. When I told my daughter to a game
- 34:12Speaker 1: last year, it's just as cute as it was before.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Okay, where's the thing.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Listen, listen to me.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Here's the thing. He opened Rock paper Scissors and that's great.
- 34:21Speaker 1: His wife opened paper Scisors.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Matt Rules started a whole brand. He's got a whole podcast.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I got you, Hey, show me that we talked with
- 34:29Speaker 1: his last week. Show me the brand of that podcast.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Where's the end?
- 34:33Speaker 2: Okay, that's just trademarking stuff, you know.
- 34:36Speaker 1: That's just you can't get a trademark from the school
- 34:38Speaker 1: you go to, you coach for it.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Maybe that's in the reasons house.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Rules, house rules? Can he easily go to blue and white?
- 34:44Speaker 3: All?
- 34:45Speaker 2: I'm asking you, and you and Matt Rule.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I'm just playing devil's advocate. I want him to stay
- 34:50Speaker 1: in the braswer because.
- 34:50Speaker 2: You think it would be terrible for college football if.
- 34:52Speaker 1: He left, I thin'd be awful for college football.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Do I You got to ask yourself this. And this
- 34:56Speaker 2: goes for someone who is working a job right now
- 34:58Speaker 2: that has nothing to do with football, that just may
- 34:59Speaker 2: be watching this. Are you happy when you wake up
- 35:02Speaker 2: in the morning and go to work. Most people's answer
- 35:04Speaker 2: is no. If Matt Rule's answer is yes, you've got
- 35:07Speaker 2: your answer. You don't leave happy. You don't try and
- 35:10Speaker 2: get happier than happy. And you've been around him a ton.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I've been around him a little bit. Unless he's totally
- 35:16Speaker 2: faking it, he seems happy at Nebraska, and if he's
- 35:18Speaker 2: happy at Nebraska, then the best thing he can do
- 35:21Speaker 2: right now, The best thing Troy Danny can do right
- 35:23Speaker 2: now is to make sure you understand, okay, to keep
- 35:25Speaker 2: this guy because he's in demand, which is a good thing.
- 35:27Speaker 2: By the way, if your guy's not in demand, he sucks.
- 35:30Speaker 2: The best thing we can do is make sure we
- 35:32Speaker 2: squeeze the sponge as hard as we can to drip
- 35:34Speaker 2: every ounce of resource out of the sponge that is Nebraska,
- 35:38Speaker 2: because that's what it's going to take to keep any
- 35:40Speaker 2: quality candidate at home. And that's what you do right now.
- 35:44Speaker 3: On doing right there, And it ain't looks we got
- 35:46Speaker 3: the facilities something right there. If it's a little extra
- 35:51Speaker 3: paid as Holgerson, he ain't take though he gets paid
- 35:55Speaker 3: overnight like he's he's made a shitload of money. Now,
- 35:58Speaker 3: it's how do you put position this thing? They put
- 36:01Speaker 3: it all in. They like getting more players, more talent.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Maybe that's it. But I think he stays in Nebraska.
- 36:07Speaker 3: But I am aware that this all this rule talk
- 36:09Speaker 3: to Penn State is very real.
- 36:11Speaker 1: But use the term, use the term happy, and it's
- 36:13Speaker 1: a point I think we can choice the word where
- 36:15Speaker 1: we talk about where Penn State is located at.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but one of the hardest things, hardest things to
- 36:20Speaker 3: do for successful people is to get the goalpost to
- 36:22Speaker 3: stop moving. I think he's in an incredible spot. I
- 36:25Speaker 3: think he wakes up very happy coaching the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
- 36:28Speaker 3: What are you laughing about?
- 36:30Speaker 1: You just your operation? Because literally, here's here's about it, bro,
- 36:34Speaker 1: I don't know, hold on, think about this. I'm sitting
- 36:37Speaker 1: on this show with my best friend and my second
- 36:39Speaker 1: best friend right now, and we're here talking ball. We're
- 36:41Speaker 1: talking ball, and I know my job at this point
- 36:45Speaker 1: on the show is strictly to push your buttons. Because
- 36:47Speaker 1: if it was if it was true, serum was on me.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I bet. I really hope Matt Rule doesn't leave. I
- 36:51Speaker 1: want to stay at Nebraska, and I'm watching my boy
- 36:56Speaker 1: just reach and pick and try to grab anything you
- 36:58Speaker 1: can't because all you're saying is right, yeah, put a
- 37:00Speaker 1: billion dollar contract in front of them and say you happy,
- 37:03Speaker 1: We'll bring anything you want. I just know that the
- 37:08Speaker 1: CBS report. You look at the odds, he's number He's
- 37:12Speaker 1: number one, and I last week you and I talked
- 37:15Speaker 1: about this, like, is Matt Rule gonna go to Penn State?
- 37:18Speaker 3: Is shut it down?
- 37:19Speaker 1: Is that a possibility? You shut it down? And like,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I just thought, Oh, that's that's an interesting thought process.
- 37:24Speaker 1: The minute James Franklin was fired, the Matt Rule headline
- 37:28Speaker 1: started and it was bigger than I ever could have imagined.
- 37:32Speaker 1: So I am as your best friend. I am afraid
- 37:35Speaker 1: for you right now. I'm nervous because where do we
- 37:38Speaker 1: go from here if we lose Matt. I know them
- 37:41Speaker 1: boys in Nebraska hate my guts because, like, how could
- 37:44Speaker 1: you go for Michigan when you were at our spring
- 37:45Speaker 1: game and say there might be that's one of the
- 37:47Speaker 1: end stands for knowledge. I went to Michigan. So I'm
- 37:50Speaker 1: obviously going to go against you guys, but I still
- 37:52Speaker 1: love and support you. Guys.
- 37:55Speaker 3: What happened.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Let let's play a hypothetical game, and I'm just gonna
- 37:57Speaker 1: look at you right now. If that Rule takes the
- 38:01Speaker 1: job at Penn State, where does Nebraska go from there?
- 38:04Speaker 1: Who do they go get?
- 38:05Speaker 3: You open up the wall for anybody.
- 38:06Speaker 1: That's that's the problem, though, is you can't just open
- 38:08Speaker 1: up the wall for anybody. You have to go find
- 38:10Speaker 1: the right guy and open the wall for that right guy.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna speak for both of us. Here's the answer.
- 38:14Speaker 2: If an asteroid drops on your house while you're asleep tonight,
- 38:19Speaker 2: what are you going to do tomorrow?
- 38:20Speaker 3: Nothing because you're dead.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I don't know what Nebraska would do because I'm not
- 38:25Speaker 2: allowing my mind to go there because it's not it's
- 38:29Speaker 2: not gonna happen. Okay, But the answer is I would go,
- 38:31Speaker 2: like get Alex Golish, I would go get one of
- 38:34Speaker 2: these coordinators. Just's begging for a shot. Because you want
- 38:36Speaker 2: to talk about legacy, talk about appreciation. And again this
- 38:40Speaker 2: is hypothetical.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Alma Mater. We gotta make sure.
- 38:45Speaker 2: That is actually.
- 38:46Speaker 1: We gotta look up wherever that is.
- 38:48Speaker 3: And I don't know, I don't know why. Like again,
- 38:51Speaker 3: I feel very confident with what we've built over the
- 38:53Speaker 3: last asteroids not dropping on us. Yeah, Mike Eckler in
- 38:57Speaker 3: that Special Teams unit is sitting at the top of
- 38:59Speaker 3: the right now. Nebraska, we play a tough Minnesota team
- 39:03Speaker 3: this weekond could be the first time we win six games.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Whatever, Ryan, you're happy, You're happy in Columbia, NFL, will
- 39:15Speaker 2: is Ohio State.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Why do they keep doing this to Ryan?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Day's not going anywhere. That's good news, that's good unless
- 39:26Speaker 1: a Penn State situation happens, that.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Fan base would never turn on him, that would never.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Take last year. They were like old Boston, House State
- 39:33Speaker 1: or Michigan.
- 39:33Speaker 3: All good, Nebraska, buddy.
- 39:38Speaker 1: You always knew that's exactly where this would go.
- 39:41Speaker 2: We spent three minutes on Penn State.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Maybe three minutes.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we knew this is where it was gonna go.
- 39:48Speaker 3: To get back to the A, to get back to
- 39:51Speaker 3: the original question. I know we made it about the Husky,
- 39:55Speaker 3: But who are these Who do you think these coaches
- 39:58Speaker 3: are that will be on these short lists when these
- 40:01Speaker 3: you know programs, because I'm sure we are pretty sure
- 40:03Speaker 3: that there will be more jobs open than just Penn State.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, man, who are these coaches that you.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Think will be making some big moves in the offseason.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I think that Matt Campbell is I'm going to go
- 40:13Speaker 2: back to him. I mean I might as well be
- 40:14Speaker 2: his agent, Like that's how much I believe in him.
- 40:16Speaker 2: So Matt Campbell at Iowa State would be my call.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Rule's gonna get mentioned with Penn State until the job
- 40:22Speaker 2: gets filled. I also think John summer All at Tulane
- 40:25Speaker 2: has been ready. I think he's smart enough to wait
- 40:27Speaker 2: for the right job to open, probably an SEC job.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I think a couple at least of SEC jobs will
- 40:33Speaker 2: come open. Alex Golis like we just mentioned at South Florida,
- 40:37Speaker 2: Like both of those guys in a previous life would
- 40:39Speaker 2: have already left, They would have taken a smaller job.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Those guys can just afford to wait for a bigger job. Remember,
- 40:44Speaker 2: Arkansas is open right now. Remember Oklahoma State is open
- 40:48Speaker 2: right now.
- 40:49Speaker 1: So Stanford, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, pennstake.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Like, I got no clue what you do if you're
- 40:53Speaker 2: Virginia Tech, I have no clue what you do your route. Ironically,
- 40:57Speaker 2: I don't think James is gonna take Pence or of
- 40:59Speaker 2: Virginia Tech. But your route may be to hire a
- 41:02Speaker 2: guy who's already making buyout money so that you don't
- 41:05Speaker 2: have to break the bank for him, because there's no
- 41:08Speaker 2: bank to break there.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Fun thoughts. Fun thought with some coaching experience, do you
- 41:15Speaker 3: look at somebody like from your alma mater, D'Angelo Hall.
- 41:20Speaker 3: D Hall has been in the NFL game. Yeah, well
- 41:23Speaker 3: my coaching right now, right, and you see d Jack,
- 41:26Speaker 3: You see some of these moves as far as like
- 41:28Speaker 3: Eddie could be a thought.
- 41:34Speaker 1: If you're going for these programs, I think there needs
- 41:36Speaker 1: to be a higher sample size before you start going
- 41:39Speaker 1: giving a d Angel Hall a Nebraska job or a
- 41:42Speaker 1: Penn State job.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and look that's more speculation, like it. But if
- 41:46Speaker 3: Dangel Hall was somebody that like wanted to coach at
- 41:49Speaker 3: Virginia Tech, that could very much be like a thought,
- 41:52Speaker 3: depending if he sits down in the right rooms interviews,
- 41:55Speaker 3: well and everything else, and if he's dying for a
- 41:58Speaker 3: Virginia Tech job at a legend in not only Virginia
- 42:01Speaker 3: Tech but also the NFL, that could bring a lot awareness, excitement, branding,
- 42:05Speaker 3: because Virginia Tech has been in a hole for a
- 42:07Speaker 3: long time, since since like the two thousands, that first
- 42:10Speaker 3: decade in the two thousands.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Staying on the coaching and you brought up Tulane SEC.
- 42:15Speaker 1: We know that Hugh Freeze is probably on the hot seat.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Little bit. We've talked about billion Naper.
- 42:18Speaker 2: All Saturday is a big game for Hugh Freeze. He
- 42:21Speaker 2: can play Missouri. It's all caps. Do you understand what
- 42:24Speaker 2: I'm telling you?
- 42:25Speaker 3: Fully picking up with Big Saturday on.
- 42:28Speaker 2: The planes for Hugh Freeze?
- 42:29Speaker 1: If okay, those two we know billionnap here and Hugh Freeze.
- 42:33Speaker 1: What about Brett Venables? Is there any noise there? You
- 42:37Speaker 1: lose a Texas at the Red Way the way you
- 42:39Speaker 1: do if sorry shootout, if my tears thumb doesn't get better,
- 42:45Speaker 1: and they go through this sec process where it was
- 42:47Speaker 1: kind of a hot seat situation before the season started.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Before the game.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Cocks, Let's say they lose to the Cocks. What's the
- 42:54Speaker 1: rest of Oklahoma schedule. Let's just say it.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Let's just say it all ranked teams.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Okay, so they're they're in they're in a cock Mo
- 43:00Speaker 1: November type of situation. Soon members, let's just call it
- 43:04Speaker 1: a tough schedule. Yeah, let's yeah, it's tough schedule. Let's
- 43:07Speaker 1: say it doesn't go the way they want. Is Brett
- 43:09Speaker 1: Vennables who was on who was kind of on this
- 43:11Speaker 1: like theoretical hot seaton before the season started. Is that
- 43:15Speaker 1: a situation where there's a vacant job at Oklahoma?
- 43:18Speaker 2: Yeah? Okay, yeah, that's another one.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I could have took way less time to a second.
- 43:22Speaker 2: It's another one that's not on the radar yet because
- 43:24Speaker 2: they started the season hot, right, you're looking at I'm
- 43:27Speaker 2: just I'm trying. I've tried to tell you guys, like
- 43:28Speaker 2: two weeks ago, I've been alluding to this the reason
- 43:31Speaker 2: that schedule. So that's the reason it's going.
- 43:33Speaker 3: To South Carolina, oh, miss Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri and finished
- 43:39Speaker 3: with LSU.
- 43:40Speaker 2: That you got a good season going eight and four there.
- 43:43Speaker 2: If you go eight and four against that, that's a
- 43:44Speaker 2: good season. Here's the problem, something called the recalibration of expectation,
- 43:49Speaker 2: a theory I have not presented on the show yet,
- 43:51Speaker 2: has happened with Oklahoma. If Oklahoma lost to Michigan in
- 43:54Speaker 2: Week two, people would have never recalibrated their mentality to
- 43:59Speaker 2: think Oklahoma be a contender because they would have had
- 44:01Speaker 2: a loss already.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:02Speaker 2: But the problem for Oklahoma, ironically, is they beat Michigan.
- 44:05Speaker 2: So people forgot their preseason expectations and they recalibrated on
- 44:09Speaker 2: the fly, and all of a sudden, Oklahoma became a contender. Well,
- 44:12Speaker 2: then John Mattier got his hand hurt, and then they
- 44:14Speaker 2: lost to Texas, and now people aren't thinking eight and
- 44:17Speaker 2: four is okay. Now people are thinking eight and four
- 44:19Speaker 2: given what my recalibrated expectations were, would be a disaster.
- 44:23Speaker 2: We need to get rid of him. Now you may
- 44:25Speaker 2: think that's crazy or not. Again, I think it's crazy.
- 44:27Speaker 2: James Franklin just lost his job, but it doesn't make
- 44:30Speaker 2: him any less unemployed this morning than he is. Yes,
- 44:33Speaker 2: I do think Oklahoma they believe they've got the entire
- 44:36Speaker 2: infrastructure in place, which they do, by the way, and
- 44:39Speaker 2: they believe if there's only one shortcoming, if there's only
- 44:42Speaker 2: one faulty wire here, and it happens to be the
- 44:45Speaker 2: head coach, that's a plug and play, and that would
- 44:48Speaker 2: be a very desirable job. And they're right about that.
- 44:51Speaker 2: And I've talked to some coaches about that. And now
- 44:53Speaker 2: Oklahoma's looked at a little bit differently in the SEC,
- 44:56Speaker 2: Like Oklahoma is the program that has this overlap of
- 44:59Speaker 2: rougher around the edges, blue collar roll up your sleeves
- 45:02Speaker 2: mentality that some coaches love, but it overlaps with that
- 45:05Speaker 2: SEC money and other places aren't like that. Like other places,
- 45:09Speaker 2: they're rich and they know it. Oklahoma's rich, but you
- 45:12Speaker 2: can tell their first generation rich like they still wear jeans,
- 45:16Speaker 2: they still tuck the T shirt in, there's no belt on.
- 45:18Speaker 2: There's stains on the jeans too, so you know they've
- 45:20Speaker 2: been out working in the back before they come in
- 45:22Speaker 2: for dinner. That's kind of how Oklahoma is. So I
- 45:24Speaker 2: say all that to say yes to that, and then
- 45:26Speaker 2: there's a big question on screen up there, if you
- 45:29Speaker 2: want to ask me that question, because I got an
- 45:30Speaker 2: answer for that one too.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Is Mike novel safe?
- 45:32Speaker 2: I got no idea because they'd have to pay him
- 45:34Speaker 2: sixty million because when the Alabama job came open, Jimmy
- 45:38Speaker 2: Sexton fleeced FSU and got them to sign a renegotiated
- 45:43Speaker 2: deal that puts Mike at about I think fifty nine
- 45:46Speaker 2: and change million in buyout money if they were to
- 45:49Speaker 2: fire him this year. Now here's the plus side. He
- 45:52Speaker 2: did take a one year reduced salary, so you only
- 45:54Speaker 2: have to pay him six and change this year, and
- 45:56Speaker 2: then he goes right back to ten. I think they
- 45:59Speaker 2: have eight conference games in a row in a god
- 46:02Speaker 2: awful acc They can't get up for any games except Alabama.
- 46:06Speaker 2: They got up for them this year. They're they're not
- 46:09Speaker 2: built like there is no future there because they've just
- 46:12Speaker 2: relied on the portal, so they haven't recruited anything. So
- 46:15Speaker 2: even though it's bad this year, normally it's bad, but
- 46:17Speaker 2: maybe you look ahead and say Okay, when our young
- 46:19Speaker 2: guys become juniors will be good. They don't have that there, right, So.
- 46:24Speaker 1: With three twenty three transfers going into the year, yep, yeah,
- 46:28Speaker 1: that's that's uh going on coaches that might go to
- 46:31Speaker 1: bigger and better jobs, possibly Texas Tech. McGuire, Is he
- 46:35Speaker 1: a possibility out of Penn State in the hypothetical world
- 46:38Speaker 1: to Nebraska?
- 46:39Speaker 3: A hypothetically hypothetically in Oklahoma? Uh, Michigan.
- 46:45Speaker 2: I wouldn't leave there if I were.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Hold on, there's a hypothetical world, there's a there's a
- 46:49Speaker 3: more I think, a more hypothetical world with Michigan than Nebraska.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Wait a second, so on the on the hypothetical tree,
- 46:56Speaker 2: I mean.
- 46:59Speaker 1: With you hypothetical, you're like more. I'm like, I'm seeing
- 47:02Speaker 1: odds that it's the search starts and ends with matt
- 47:06Speaker 1: rule and you're like, hypothetically.
- 47:09Speaker 3: We'll see who's laughing at the end of the season.
- 47:12Speaker 2: He took the knife out of Penn State's hands and
- 47:15Speaker 2: gave it to you, and you put it in A.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Tailor is oldest time. A tailor's oldest time on this bus, Hey,
- 47:22Speaker 1: you know what we need to do? O Son is
- 47:24Speaker 1: at Nebraska that's good.
- 47:26Speaker 2: That's that's news to me.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Actually that is that. Yeah, yeah, no, that's real. He's
- 47:30Speaker 3: on his staff, he's on coach real staff.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Things might be up in Nebraska, hypothetically. Hypothetically, we've already
- 47:39Speaker 1: gone through a coaching change and everything.
- 47:42Speaker 3: I just went to Equalizer with Denzel where he takes
- 47:44Speaker 3: the gun and points it back at him.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I'm thinking to myself, we're having fun.
- 47:48Speaker 3: We're having a good time out of here.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Listen, do you think you shouldn't leave? Okay, I want
- 47:56Speaker 2: to take you guys out there. I don't know that
- 47:58Speaker 2: business regularly takes either of you through Lubbock, Texas.
- 48:01Speaker 3: I just I just don't think you.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Guys regularly like travel through that part of Texas, So
- 48:05Speaker 2: it would have to be a one off. Their facilities
- 48:08Speaker 2: are off the charts, insane. They've got unbelievable money out there.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Cody Campbell, all those commercials he's doing, like, that's the
- 48:16Speaker 2: same guy that bank rolls Texas Tech. He is tied
- 48:19Speaker 2: into Texas. Joey was a high school coach for like
- 48:21Speaker 2: thirty years. Here's been a coach in Texas for thirty years.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Most of those were Texas high school. So He's kind
- 48:26Speaker 2: of just uniquely woven into the Texas culture. And so
- 48:30Speaker 2: the jobs I think he would leave Texas Tech for
- 48:32Speaker 2: were if the Texas job or the A and M
- 48:34Speaker 2: job ever came open and they all stayed in the state. Yeah, Like,
- 48:37Speaker 2: I just think he fits there. I think he'd be
- 48:39Speaker 2: a total fish out of water at Nebraska or a
- 48:42Speaker 2: Penn State or whatever. Maybe Oklahoma fits just a small
- 48:47Speaker 2: little Maybe Oklahoma fits you talking about.
- 48:49Speaker 1: The blue collar but we got money the whole thing. Yeah, Texas,
- 48:53Speaker 1: Texas Tech.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Texas Tech's awesome right now.
- 48:55Speaker 1: They seem like true contenders. Yeah, we could actually see
- 48:58Speaker 1: them playing in the national championship. Yeah, them in Indiana both. Yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 1: you can't see through them right now, you really can't.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Kurt signetty buddy, I love him. I think he is hilarious.
- 49:09Speaker 3: His name is coming up basically any potential job that
- 49:12Speaker 3: could be happening. Yeah, so what do you see with Signetti?
- 49:15Speaker 2: It makes sense that his name would come up, Like
- 49:16Speaker 2: if I were Penn State, I was talking about Matt
- 49:19Speaker 2: Campbell so much. I got to tell you because I
- 49:21Speaker 2: left out some context, I would call Signety before I
- 49:24Speaker 2: call anybody. I don't get the feeling Kurt Signetti's just
- 49:29Speaker 2: in a hurry to leave Indiana for Penn State. People
- 49:31Speaker 2: don't realize how much money he makes there. He's making
- 49:33Speaker 2: as much at Indiana with his renewed contract as James
- 49:36Speaker 2: was making at Penn State. So you're already matching the dollars.
- 49:40Speaker 2: You've got way less pressure on you. You are now
- 49:43Speaker 2: and as long as you want to be the face
- 49:44Speaker 2: of Indiana football, there was no before you. Right, there
- 49:48Speaker 2: is no shadows? Are you are Indiana football? And also,
- 49:53Speaker 2: do we just know that he is dying to go
- 49:54Speaker 2: to state college Pennsylvania. I don't know that I've actually
- 49:57Speaker 2: heard the opposite. Now, maybe have some other jobs can open,
- 50:00Speaker 2: maybe he entertains that, But.
- 50:01Speaker 1: What other jobs are he entertained?
- 50:03Speaker 2: Well, I mean, we just got the news that Michigan
- 50:05Speaker 2: is gonna come open, Like Michigan is highly likely to
- 50:08Speaker 2: come I would look at uh. I'm just saying, do you.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Think Signetty would want to go to Michigan?
- 50:14Speaker 2: D yes, Yes, the Michigan job is Michigan. You're down.
- 50:20Speaker 2: No way he could be sitting in this chair less
- 50:24Speaker 2: than a year from now. Yeah, welcome to Michigan.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Right, No, Swan Moore is he's woven in the fabric
- 50:34Speaker 1: and national championship coach. Mean, he was the head coach
- 50:38Speaker 1: during Penn State, during Maryland, which I said in the
- 50:40Speaker 1: championship year was gonna be the hardest game Ohio State,
- 50:43Speaker 1: Like he was a part of those.
- 50:45Speaker 3: I wish he was on the sideline in Nebraska. That's it.
- 50:48Speaker 1: That hurt people, hurt people.
- 50:50Speaker 3: So I do have a question what we just saw
- 50:52Speaker 3: with the Penn State and James Franklin, like the whole
- 50:55Speaker 3: very very good these years. Obviously he didn't win a
- 50:58Speaker 3: championship there. But Dabo Sweeney, could there be any movement
- 51:01Speaker 3: with Clemson if they were to drop you know, just
- 51:06Speaker 3: another real if you're going to lose a couple more games.
- 51:09Speaker 3: But if they lose another bad game, Like what are
- 51:13Speaker 3: there conversations happening at Clemson?
- 51:16Speaker 2: Not that I know of. That one would be off
- 51:18Speaker 2: the radar, out of left field to me. I know
- 51:21Speaker 2: when you say conversations, I know what you mean. There
- 51:23Speaker 2: are absolutely conversations of hey, what's our future going to be?
- 51:27Speaker 2: But not conversations of hey, we got a meeting tomorrow
- 51:29Speaker 2: morning ten am. We're about to discuss immediate termination of
- 51:33Speaker 2: our head coach. No, I don't think those conversations are
- 51:35Speaker 2: happening like North Carolina though with Belichick.
- 51:38Speaker 3: That's that's But you got to think about.
- 51:41Speaker 2: How many jobs we're stacking on top of each other
- 51:43Speaker 2: right now. At some point you got to look at
- 51:45Speaker 2: the coaching market and say, might we just wait a year?
- 51:48Speaker 2: Do we really want to compete against all of these
- 51:50Speaker 2: other programs that are coming open.
- 51:52Speaker 1: JP had a great take on this. When who they
- 51:54Speaker 1: lose to We're Clemson, they lost to it, and this
- 51:59Speaker 1: is when Dabo's kind of have to crash out the podium.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Maybe George Yah, it's probably Georgia Tech. And JP was like,
- 52:04Speaker 1: Clemson's got to remember who they were before debo because
- 52:06Speaker 1: they were nothing right they were. It was a it
- 52:09Speaker 1: was a bad program. It's been too long, too long.
- 52:11Speaker 2: And then like you lose.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Dabbo, who is, like you say, woven in the fabric
- 52:14Speaker 1: of a culture, like he is Clemson. You gotta keep
- 52:17Speaker 1: him there, let him die there.
- 52:20Speaker 4: Brian Kelly will be gone by.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 52:23Speaker 1: JP just said Brian Kelly will be gone by the interview.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Every coach besides who Brian days together?
- 52:33Speaker 2: Guys who will keep their Yeah, that's what it's turning
- 52:35Speaker 2: into we can't finish the sheet.
- 52:37Speaker 1: The Brian Kelly thing, that's another one too, is they
- 52:40Speaker 1: win that first game against Clemson. The recalibration you're kind
- 52:43Speaker 1: of talking about is like, oh ship, we're we're That's
- 52:46Speaker 1: all we needed was when the first get Yeah, we
- 52:47Speaker 1: want to see an opener. And now it's like, yeah
- 52:50Speaker 1: it is. Brian Kelly.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Is he safe?
- 52:52Speaker 1: Because I know there was like a whole lot of
- 52:54Speaker 1: oil and water type of mixture when it came to
- 52:56Speaker 1: l s U, Baton Rouge and Brian Kelly's personality.
- 53:00Speaker 3: So right now he's winning, Yeah, wells winning.
- 53:03Speaker 2: He's another guy who's got this not quite Oklahoma stretch
- 53:07Speaker 2: in the second half of the season. But he's got
- 53:09Speaker 2: a tough stretch now. I will say, is we're sitting
- 53:11Speaker 2: here talking, it's the Monday following the South Carolina game.
- 53:15Speaker 2: They only would they score JP twenty? Yeah, yeah, they
- 53:17Speaker 2: only scored twenty the other night two red zone turnovers.
- 53:20Speaker 2: I actually thought their offense showed more promise than I've
- 53:23Speaker 2: seen at any point this year. Doesn't really matter if
- 53:25Speaker 2: it doesn't click. That is one of two places LSU
- 53:29Speaker 2: and Oklahoma where neither guy's on an immediate hot seat,
- 53:33Speaker 2: and I'm not saying they are. Those are two places that,
- 53:35Speaker 2: because of the schedules they're about to play, could turn
- 53:38Speaker 2: on a dime down the stretch. Hot seat talk could
- 53:41Speaker 2: crank up immediately. And those are two places that view
- 53:45Speaker 2: themselves rightfully so as organizations that are built very strongly.
- 53:49Speaker 2: And if all you had to do was remove the
- 53:51Speaker 2: star above the Christmas tree and put a brighter star
- 53:54Speaker 2: on top of it would be a very desirable tree
- 53:56Speaker 2: to be placed on top of.
- 53:59Speaker 3: I love that.
- 54:00Speaker 2: It's really technical terminology. I'm sorry if I lost you there.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I followed. It took me a second, but I
- 54:04Speaker 1: got there. You want to be an upright star on
- 54:05Speaker 1: a nice tree.
- 54:06Speaker 2: You don't want to go have to find a new
- 54:08Speaker 2: tree in the woods.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Right.
- 54:09Speaker 2: The tree's nice, it's decorated, we got the tensil. We
- 54:11Speaker 2: got real popcorn. It's not even the fake popcorn.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Every year in my house, it's a it's a headache
- 54:15Speaker 1: every year.
- 54:15Speaker 2: And do it at LSU and Oklahoma.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Watching ball, Dude, I I love how college football is
- 54:21Speaker 3: such a roller coaster because this is the most fun
- 54:23Speaker 3: year for you. Yeah, I think these are like one
- 54:25Speaker 3: of the This is like one of the best years
- 54:27Speaker 3: in college because anybody, it feels like, can be anybody
- 54:31Speaker 3: just up in the air.
- 54:31Speaker 2: One more thing I was talking to like fifty agents yesterday,
- 54:35Speaker 2: and one thing they kept saying is something that's right
- 54:38Speaker 2: in front of your face and you're not realizing it
- 54:40Speaker 2: that we're having to deal with right now, is we
- 54:42Speaker 2: have been used to forever. Towards the end of the season,
- 54:45Speaker 2: guys get fired and then coaching searches start to happen
- 54:48Speaker 2: behind the scenes, but it's always it's never going to
- 54:51Speaker 2: be public or finalized until the end of the year,
- 54:53Speaker 2: all right, So if you don't make a bowl game,
- 54:55Speaker 2: it happens early December. And if you're going to a
- 54:58Speaker 2: bowl or if maybe if you're going to play all
- 55:00Speaker 2: for national championship, you agree if you're a coordinator. Kirby
- 55:03Speaker 2: Smart once stayed with Alabama through the national title game
- 55:07Speaker 2: even though he had taken the Georgia job. That was
- 55:09Speaker 2: the old school way of doing things. But no one
- 55:11Speaker 2: used to fire guys in October. Now everyone's getting fired
- 55:14Speaker 2: in October. And these agents were talking to me yesterday
- 55:16Speaker 2: and they were saying, you know, we're not hearing from
- 55:19Speaker 2: these universities. They want to wait to the end of
- 55:22Speaker 2: the season. They want to do the search now to
- 55:25Speaker 2: walk that through to a conclusion. What that means is theoretically,
- 55:29Speaker 2: if Penn State were to try and go get Signetti
- 55:31Speaker 2: or go get Matt Campbell, or go get someone else,
- 55:35Speaker 2: they want it to happen during the season. I don't
- 55:39Speaker 2: even understand how that functions.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Yes, so they went and got Matt Campbell, will use
- 55:43Speaker 1: his name. Would they say, Okay, we've hired Matt. Gets
- 55:46Speaker 1: November fifth, Matt Campbell's the next head coach of Penn State.
- 55:49Speaker 1: And then at Campbell just goes to Penn State I
- 55:52Speaker 1: think coach at Iowa State for the rest of the
- 55:54Speaker 1: I think he coaches.
- 55:55Speaker 3: Like say they're playing, say they're in the Costable Playoff,
- 55:58Speaker 3: like he coaches through or maybe who knows, but he's
- 56:01Speaker 3: finishing out the year. But it would probably work the
- 56:03Speaker 3: same fashion it would like the NFL to where somebody
- 56:06Speaker 3: might somebody's gonna leak it. It's not gonna be the
- 56:09Speaker 3: team coming out saying this is gonna be our next
- 56:11Speaker 3: head coach. Because to your point, what's probably going to
- 56:14Speaker 3: start happening is these coaches, these staves are going to
- 56:17Speaker 3: be interviewing during the season right over zoom. Uh, you know,
- 56:22Speaker 3: on the phone face not They won't be flying and
- 56:24Speaker 3: going face to face unless because that right there again,
- 56:27Speaker 3: you're gonna you're gonna that's gonna get leaked. It's all
- 56:29Speaker 3: gonna get leaked. But staves are, like head coaches are
- 56:32Speaker 3: going to be interviewing on the phone on zoom during
- 56:35Speaker 3: the season.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Not just head coaches, but like coordinators as well. Yeah,
- 56:39Speaker 1: who's the OC from Missouri? Yeah, it's it's all good.
- 56:43Speaker 1: We can forget his name of a second, Are there
- 56:45Speaker 1: he already interviewed for the Arkansas.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Job middle Yeah, yeah, yeah, there you go. But are
- 56:51Speaker 3: you do you Are you hearing about any coordinators in
- 56:53Speaker 3: the college football circuit that could be potential hot names?
- 56:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Kirby Moore is Na. Yeah, tons of them. But
- 57:01Speaker 2: I don't I think it all works downstream of which
- 57:03Speaker 2: head coaches leave and which head coaches are available. Yeah,
- 57:06Speaker 2: there are a lot of places where if you look
- 57:07Speaker 2: number three or number four in their list, it's a coordinator.
- 57:10Speaker 2: But that's contingent on the first three names, which your
- 57:12Speaker 2: head coach is not being available, So it's and then
- 57:15Speaker 2: what normally happens in this kind of cycle, is okay.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Current head coaches climb up the ladder and fill the openings,
- 57:23Speaker 2: and then those jobs like the if the Indiana job
- 57:25Speaker 2: were open, if the Iowa State job were open, if
- 57:28Speaker 2: some other job were open, those are the places that
- 57:31Speaker 2: look at a coordinator. Historically, that's what happens. If John
- 57:35Speaker 2: Summer All were to take the Auburn job, if it opened,
- 57:39Speaker 2: two Lane looks at a high profile coordinator. That's probably
- 57:42Speaker 2: the way that goes.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Yeah, uh, I want to I know we kind of
- 57:46Speaker 1: brushed over it a little bit. We talked about UCLA
- 57:47Speaker 1: being two and o and they should be two and
- 57:49Speaker 1: o at this point we should all just we should
- 57:50Speaker 1: erase everything from the prior head coach. But I remember
- 57:54Speaker 1: a conversation you had a con coward. I clicked on
- 57:56Speaker 1: the link and I will listen to you guys talk
- 57:58Speaker 1: about UCLA and how bad of a job at is.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Your stadium's forty five minutes right from the campus. You're
- 58:03Speaker 1: the second best recruiting team in the city essentially, and
- 58:08Speaker 1: now all of a sudden there're two to zero. Who's
- 58:10Speaker 1: the h is it?
- 58:11Speaker 2: Tim Skippers the head coach? No, No, No, who's the
- 58:13Speaker 2: OC Jerry Newheisel.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Is that Jerry Yeah?
- 58:16Speaker 4: Team?
- 58:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Jerry Neuheisel is the face of the team.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Is that now?
- 58:20Speaker 1: Having that conversation, we'll call on Coward. Is that now
- 58:22Speaker 1: a job? That's like, yeah, new Heeidel seems like he's
- 58:25Speaker 1: the perfect man for that job.
- 58:27Speaker 2: If I were them, I would probably go that route.
- 58:29Speaker 2: I don't know the UCLA jobs intimately, Like I've had
- 58:33Speaker 2: more conversations about the UCLA job over the past month
- 58:35Speaker 2: than I've had my whole life. Very eye opening, and
- 58:38Speaker 2: what it shows is apathy towards the football program. They
- 58:41Speaker 2: don't have their nil affairs in order, they don't take
- 58:44Speaker 2: it nearly as seriously as basketball, and they love to
- 58:47Speaker 2: tout how rich their alumni base is, but it doesn't
- 58:50Speaker 2: matter if football can't tap into it. Frankly, Arkansas has
- 58:52Speaker 2: had some of those problems recently. Really a ton of
- 58:54Speaker 2: money in Northwest Arkansas. It doesn't matter if the needle
- 58:58Speaker 2: doesn't go into football, how much money you have. And then,
- 59:02Speaker 2: at least at Arkansas you know everyone cares. At UCLA
- 59:05Speaker 2: you have the added burden of trying to make people
- 59:07Speaker 2: care about football, which is a very unenviable position to
- 59:10Speaker 2: be in. Like, if you're trying to make people care
- 59:12Speaker 2: about football in a country that's football obsessed, you're probably
- 59:15Speaker 2: just in the wrong part of the country, or in
- 59:17Speaker 2: that case, in the wrong part of town. Even Riley
- 59:19Speaker 2: struggled with that at USC though they packed the coliseum Saturday.
- 59:22Speaker 2: But that's called Michigan's in town. And because they may
- 59:26Speaker 2: be winning. If they're not winning, they don't draw anything,
- 59:29Speaker 2: and that's USC. So I don't I still think the
- 59:31Speaker 2: same thing I think about the job. It's just maybe
- 59:34Speaker 2: they've caught lightning in a bottle and they found out
- 59:36Speaker 2: the answer was in their building the whole time.
- 59:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's a good answer to have.
- 59:41Speaker 3: That's what That's what I enjoy seeing with the UCLA positions,
- 59:45Speaker 3: just having like because he played there, right sure, Yeah,
- 59:48Speaker 3: just having a little sick of somebody who understands the culture,
- 59:50Speaker 3: who understands like wanting to bring this brand back. He's
- 59:52Speaker 3: had some success.
- 59:54Speaker 1: It's like a bruin too. He's got the wave going there.
- 59:58Speaker 1: It's like, this guy's.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Perfect for you. It seems like he's having a blast
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: getting this opportunity. I think that would be an awesome.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I don't even know who what Tim Skipper looks like. Like,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I feel like it's about the face of a program.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: He's the interim head coach. I don't even know what
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: this guy even looks like at all.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: There's Tim Skipper there.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: He is.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Wouldn't have guessed full transparency, would not have guessed Sherman's
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: brought up here. Does a three lost SEC team make
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: the college football playoffs?
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Yeah? Probably more than one. Yeah, that's why Saturday is important.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: Listen.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I know we're in October and no one's like thinking
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: this through all right. Last weekend Arizona had Byu on
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: the ropes and they let him off. They let him
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: off the hook. No one's thinking about the ramifications for
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: the SEC when BYU and Arizona are playing at one
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: o'clock Eastern time in the morning. But it's big because
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: if bringing Young keeps winning those close games and they're
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: sitting there eleven and one are undefeated versus a nine
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: and three SEC, they're going to get the playoff nod
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: later down the road. All right, So that's first thing.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Think about. Second thing this Saturday. If Notre Dame loses
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: to USC, they're gonna be out right now. A ten
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: and two Notre Dame versus certain nine and three secs
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: is a legitimate playoff debate. Come December, all the nine
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: and three SEC teams will get the NOD over a
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: nine and three Notre Dame because they will have lost
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: their only two high level games and lost their third one.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: So they will have lost their three games against their
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: three biggest opponents elsewhere, their strength of schedules garbage, So
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: a lot of these games outside the SEC are going
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: to have as much impact on this as the SEC
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: games themselves. Then in the SEC, what you want to
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: ask yourself is, right now you've got ten teams with
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: zero or one conference losses. You got to start having
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: some separation. You've got to start having a few teams
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: separate instead of just a bunch of two, three and
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: four loss teams, because at that point it gets really
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: hard to differentiate two from here, two from there. But
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I think I think the over under on three loss
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: teams is like one and a half, and I'm going
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: to take the over. By the way some setting the
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: number and taking the over it sounds fair. Yeah, I
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: think three loss teams are going to the playoff really god,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: And that means other three lost teams are gonna get
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: left out because you're gonna have a bunch of three
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: lost teams, I think in multiple conferences confree So I
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know. A and M's undefeated guys
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: can Ole missus undefeated. Ole Miss goes to Georgia Saturday.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: By the way, oh miss dog. Washington State doesn't matter
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: because they weren't even aware they were playing Washington State
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: until about eleven am Saturday morning. They've just been busy
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: prepping for Georgia. So don't worry about that.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Okay, I'm not gonna worry about that. Let's talk about
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: more coaching hypotheticals.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin Florida. It's it, that's Florida.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Is that does he cause there? I don't know if
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I heard this made it up in my head.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Who cares?
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Seems like he kind of wants to go.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: I don't know if he does or not. I think
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I think he did once upon a time. He may
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: still want to go. I could find you people who
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: know a lot about that situation who would swear he'll
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: take the job. I was of that opinion. Yeah, okay,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: we also know he has talked a lotublicly, including in
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: a documentary that just got released like last week, about
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: how woven into the fabric of ole Missy is now
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: I moved his family there, this and that. That could
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: be bs. He could be lying to you, or he
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: could mean every word of it.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. Can you bring up the AP,
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: the AP twenty five top twenty five?
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: You just want to look at it?
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to look at it. I just want
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: to get his opinion on a couple of things because
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: he's got the Commissioner's poll.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: It slowly, it's making its way as the number one.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Then the AP catches up a couple of weeks later.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: AP catches up a couple weeks later. We're bringing it
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: up here Twitter. Interesting, right, Yeah, what an opportunity you
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: have at the bottom of this list, Cincinnati being twenty four,
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: Nebraska being twenty five.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Oh to correct it, to correct correct the historical record.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: And also it's like in your mind when you were
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: breaking down all the college ball, like thinking about Illinois
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: being unranked because they've gotten mopped by Ohio State and
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: they got mopped by Indiana USC being a one loss team,
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: that one loss being to Illinois, who even though they
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: did get mopped. Their two losses are to the number
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: one and the number three team in the country. Like,
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: when you're looking at the ap pole, who are they
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: missing on this week? Who do you think?
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: It's?
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Like? Hey, you know, is it is Illinois ranked in
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: your Commissioner's poll or else on the chart? And for
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: the love of God, you better? Are you moving up?
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: Georgia Tech?
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Georgia Tech's probably about I have done. I haven't done
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: the Commissioner's pole, so I like to marinate on these things,
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: make emotional decisions.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: You're right, but I do want an emotional comment.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: I do want to say. The Notre Dame Texas conundrum
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: confounds me a little bit. Texas and Notre Dame two
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: loss teams. Texas I think was twenty first, Notre Dame's thirteenth,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: and Texas has two losses just like Notre Dame. But
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Texas has a win over Oklahoma, a top ten Oklahoma.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Notre Dame's best win is what Boise or Arkansas like?
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: They don't they don't have a quality win. I guess
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: they're saying because their losses are to top five teams,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: then that kind of carries more weight. But at some
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: point I'm asking doesn't winning the games matter, like you
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: lost to good teams. Okay, but the key word there's
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: lost and Texas just beat. I don't know. I'm not
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: that upset about it because they're both two lost teams.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: But I still think Vandy's a little bit too low
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: because I don't think Vandy was in the preseason anything.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: And so what I think people are doing with Notre
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Dame all the way up at thirteen is I think
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: they are reverting back to their preseason expectation of Notre Dame,
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: and they're also projecting because now everyone who thought Notre
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Dame was going to be good, they're looking for any
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: reason to believe Notre Dame's good, and by the way,
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: they probably are good. And now they're projecting they'll keep winning.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: So we're gonna proactively bump them up to thirteen. Whereas
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Vanderbilt didn't think they'd be up there, we begrudgingly had
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: to put them up there. The moment they go loose
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: to Alabama will knock them down. And meanwhile, they open
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: as a favorite against LSU, Vandy a points spread favorite
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: against LSU in the fall. Don't lie to our game.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: Of the week, Yes eleven am kickoff, I may walk
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: to the game. Yeah. I also think it's crazy that
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: Washington is not ranked their only losses, their only losses
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: to the number one team in the country.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: They weren't They weren't invited to the party, and they
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: were in.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: That game too, regardless of what the score says, like
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: they had opportunities to win that game.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Are you on board with Oregon potentially being on on
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: fraud alert with their their only states?
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: People are saying, oh man, the Penn State win is fraudulent.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Now I look at that the opposite way. Do either
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: of you think that Penn State would have imploded had
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: they beaten Oregon?
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: No?
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: No, I don't either. So if Oregon caused that, I'm
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: not going to knock them. Because the team they killed
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: played dead the following two weeks, I'm going to credit
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: you for killing that team. So, no, they got beat
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: by a good Indiana team. Like at every turn, people
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: are trying to find a way to cut the legs
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: out from under Indiana's resume. Maybe Indiana's just really good.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Maybe Oregon is just really good. That wasn't impressive, though,
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: So I fuck with you.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Josh Bate.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Yes, last question before we go because we have Greg
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Olsen coming up. Of all the head coaches that could
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: possibly take a job this offseason, who is, in your opinion,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: the best head coach? The two names have come up
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: the most is Matt Campbell and Kurt Signetti.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Campbell is younger, much younger than sig so Matt Campbell
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: would be my answer. Matt Campbell. People just forget how
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: much of a wet bag of garbage the Iowa State
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: football program was, and he has made it so consistent
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: an idea that you can win there that people are
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: taking it for granted. This is not James Franklin at
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Penn State. This is a historically terrible program, and Matt's
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: won there. They went to the Big twelfth title game
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: last year. They won eleven games. Last year. They're down
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: two starting corners, lost their nose guard and tailback in
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: the game the other night, down to their third string kicker.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: Like that's the reason they're losing right now.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: They have no depth.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Plus they just sent two wide receivers to the NFL Draft.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: You should never be doing any of that at Iowa State.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: So that guy's good My number.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: One signating number two, Yes, do you have a third.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Let me think on that. I'll see you Wednesday.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: This has been eye opening, eye opening experience. Every single
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: job in college football is open.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: Isn't that crazy?
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Is there anything about Beamer? Should we be worried about
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Beemer at all?
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: No?
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Saturday he'll be fine.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Yeah, hell yeah, what happened?
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: That's right, Josh Bade. Everybody breaking down the college football world.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: We're going to take a quick break and then we

- 1:10:46Speaker 5: We don't do that in youth football, as we can't
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: tell you about them right now.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: I see you, Luke on the drawing up the game plan.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Four linebackers on that little clip.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: I saw, yeah, just a four to four.
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: Luckily the production company Blur announced it didn't see exactly
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: where we lined.

- 1:11:20Speaker 4: I got it?
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: What was before we get into what was the result
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: of last week's game?
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Uh, thirty two to zero thirty two? Nothing?
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: And I know, hey, listen, I know we don't. We
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: don't coach the score. We coached the process. Talk to
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: me about the tackling, the coverage, operation on offense, like
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: I need to hear it all.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Luke will started.
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: Doing t team. So not a lot of coverage. We
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: had one ball that almost got over our head, but
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: like we had a good pass rush. The tackling was good.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: Greg's what is it? They had twenty eight plays for
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: twenty six yards. Had twenty eight plays twenty seven yards.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Got to love that, Luke.
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: When you deal gave up one first down on a
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: little jet They actually had a nice little concept. They formation,
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: you know, whated us and UH ran a little shotgun
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: speed pop and uh our kids were all chasing the
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: back and they kind of just popped it to the
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: fast motion guy and he got around our edge. That
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: was their one first down.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: Now is that where you're getting in Luke's ear or
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: you're pretty confident that he's gonna get the defense corrected.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: You gotta make we gotta make some adjustments. Well, the reason,
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: I'll be honest, I didn't get anyone's ear because I
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: coached the D line and our right edge, our right
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: end was the one who ran inside and didn't keep
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: the edge. So it was actually my fault.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Now, when you're looking at your league, we know the
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: NFL is a copycat league. Can we say the same
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: thing for Papa Warner? You see that jet sweep and
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: you're like, hey, maybe we should throw that in our bag.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Oh, we run a ton of but we run a
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: lot of jet sweep. I'll just put it that way.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, let's don't give up too much.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: I know, give away a lot of our secret.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Definitely want Luke coach kickley when you're going against a
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: wing te Uh, how how much are you getting in
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: the head? Coaches here to get a little extra time
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: in practice, because I understand this is a big eyes game.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: We got to be very disciplined. We've got to be
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: very good with our eyes. Any subtle motions happen, you
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: need a transition. How much are you trying to capture? Hey,
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: we need an extra period for this wing tea. Look,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: we're about to.
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: Face Luckily, we've played against it four times in the
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: last two years, so we've got a pretty good feel
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: for But you don't you don't need to practice with
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: the ball. Everybody just needs to be in their gap,
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: do their job, eyes in the right place, and if
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: you try to make somebody else's play in the wing tea,
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: that's when the ball pops. So when we practice, we
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: don't practice with the ball. Do your job, play your gap,
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: play physical, and tackle the guy in your gap.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: And it's pretty straightforward.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: It's a no ball period. It's a no ball period. Boys.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys, I know the season's coming to an end, right,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: We're getting close to the final.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: Wednesday's last game?
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: Man, last game?
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Do we got playoffs? Is there champions?
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Oh, this is just we got to win this one.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Put a bow on top of an undefeated and just
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: put a bow.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: This team is good. We knew they were our last
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: game of the season. They're good. They've only lost one
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: game in overtime, so they could be undefeated. They're good.
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: They got some talented kids, they're well coached. This is
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: this is probably gonna be our biggest challenge of the year.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: What about this team?
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Do they do so well?
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I know, you guys, I don't know if you've watched
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: too much film yet, but are they big motion or
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: they just our guys?
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: They got a couple of good athletes, but that you
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: know at this age obviously, when you have a couple
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: good athletes, you've you've you build everything around them. So
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: we got to work out out for us on defense.
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: There they got a good back, their quarterback. They can run,
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: they can throw, they're fast, So we got to get
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: hats to the ball. We gotta tackle. We got to
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: get these guys on the ground because they got two
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: kids that on any play they could score.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: Coach Keikley, what kind of chip are you building on
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: your shoulder? Because just what I'm hearing the rumors on Reddit,
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: there's a lot of message board chatter talking everything else
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: that talking a lot of shit about your philosophy, the
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: way you coach ball, saying you close the fridge with
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: your hip, lay on your tummy at night, do a
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: lot of things that Again, they're building a lot of
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: bulletin board material I'm wondering if you're hearing the noise
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: and how you're approaching this week.
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: Hey, we do the same thing when we talk to
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: our kids about We don't worry about the outside noise.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: We believe in what we do.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: We believe in our scheme, we believe in attitude, effort,
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: and intensity, and we believe in the game plan that
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: we put forward every week. So all that bulletin board material,
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: how I close refrigerator, I don't think it really matters.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: Are you the type of coach that whenever you're getting
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: stops or tackles for loss, you're yelling at the other
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: sideline saying, google me, look me up?
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: Like, what's that's for? Saying that about? That's it? That's
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: like what Signetti does? You said google me?
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's a dog for that. This is a
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: This is a question for both you coaches in the
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: if you follow college football at all right now, there's
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: a lot of head coaching jobs being lined up. A
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: lot of people may be being plucked from one place
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: to go to another. A lot of rumors are swirling
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: around the pop Warner culture that Luke Keigley is one
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: of the head guys for a head coaching job in that.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: I know what rumors you guys are looking at right now,
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: but you're you're you're Reddit sources I don't think are
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: super true.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you see, I asked a question about you leaving.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Now Greg wants to stand up to No.
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: I didn't like that I was sitting and he was standing.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: It made me feel very uncomfortable.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Is this great?
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: Do you?
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Are you concerned about Luke Keigley taking a much deserving
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: head coaching job in your league.
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: The advantage, the advantage that I have is I'll out
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: pay I could outbid anybody in America.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Oh you got oil money, you got oil money and
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Pop Warner.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm like Texas Tech now right where we're just
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: we're just outbidding everyone for players, softball, pitchers, facilities. So
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: the good thing is like, there's nothing anyone could offer
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Luke that I can't match. Pizza, buckets of beer. Yeah, day,
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: you know, Monday morning film session. No, we're not talking
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: about the Panthers. We were both calling the game yesterday.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: We're not talking about the Panthers. We're talking about getting
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: our boys ready to finish the season strong. So I
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: think he values that over money. I think he values
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: that over prestige. So I'm confident that our relationship is
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: stronger than any rumor.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: Yeah, Coach Olsen. With the landscape of trickling down from
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: NFL at college football, it's coming for high school and
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: these coaches kind of position themselves with nice buyouts if
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: they do make a move. Just asking both of you, Luke,
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: are you looking at structuring your contract a little bit
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: differently if there is a buyout situation happening? Uh, if
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: there's one already in place, what is the buyout look
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: like for Luke Keekley or Greg Olsen or coach Stewart.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: Are you guys are these conversations taking place in the
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: youth football community.
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: I think if you position yourself for a buyout, you
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: already thinking about getting fired. And we don't have that mindset.
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: Our mindset we're just gonna win, We're gonna coach well,
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: We've got a great relationship.
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: You guys are just trying to drive a wedge in
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: between us all.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: This is.
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: Year four of this. We've never been closer in our lives.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Now is not the time to get defensive Coach Kickley,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: We're strictly just reporting.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: The trying to drive a wedge because these young kids
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: are going to learn, They're gonna learn about the reality
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: of the media.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: To ball out here.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: Look at it. Look they're getting uncomfortable.
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: They got the.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Canvas going crazy. What do you guys say to the
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: rumors swirling about you guys taking the head high high
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: school football coaching jobs, because I've I've We've received a
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: couple of texts there Charlotte area code and it's the
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: it's they're going by the name. Don't worry about five
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: seven three people are saying, and a lot of coaches
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: in the high school world are talking ship like they
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: could they Look they can do it in the pop
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Warner world.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: There's no shot they could do it in high school.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: Coach hear those rumors. Greg Ozie travels with the sun.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: His son's gonna be playing high school ball here very soon.
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: Yeah, we've been very clear. We have a great relationship
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: with the high school staff. Chris James, the varsity coach
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: at Charlotte Christian, good buddy of mine. I make it
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: very clear to everyone our job at the middle school level, yes,
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: we want to win. Yes, don't get me wrong. Our
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: job is to turn over as many good football players
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: as many kids ready for high school football to him
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: in ninth grade as humanly possible. We sent him a
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: class last year that are now freshmen. Our tailback from
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: our eighth grade team right now, Jamal Jamal Rule, who's
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: the kid going to Nebraska, the running back he broke.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: He hurt his thumb and had surgery, so he's missed
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: the last couple of weeks. Our backup as a freshman.
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: He played for US last year as an eighth grader,
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: had never played football before, and now he's playing on varsity.
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: He had two touchdowns friday night against a really good
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: team out of Georgia and is playing real ball. He's
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: played one year for US. Our goal is how many
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: of these freshmen in every class can we have ready
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: to play high school ball. Whether it's as a freshman,
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: a sophomore, junior, who knows, but we're going to give
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: him another really good class to back up that one.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Our eighth graders this year are really good. Our seventh
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: grade class might be as good as any of them,
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: if not better. So as many of these classes that
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: we can prep hand over to the varsity to kind
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: of build this thing from the ground floor up. That's
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: our model. That's what we're trying to do, and we've
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: been very clear where our support lies, what our roles are.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: We are the farm system. We are the fundamental foundation
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: of the Charlotte Cristian football program. We take great pride
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: in that we believe doing it at that level and
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: letting these kids grow up through the program is the
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: right way to do it. It's the best long term
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: way to do it, and that's what we believe in.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: So it's safe to say you're, you know, in the
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: immediate future, let's you say ten years, ten years, they're
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: going to have this farm system in place. Middle school
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: football grey goals and Luke Keekley coach Steward, just ten
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: years is probably aggressive, Okay, just I didn't know. I
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: didn't know what kind of future we're looking at over.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Here, doubling down on that, How old is your youngest
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: son who is going to go through this process?
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: Seventh grade? So I got five, we got five more.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Years, five more years. Well, they go to high school
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: right ninth grade?
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: Correct, but he got he's letting the fan base know
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: my kids are right now, eighth and seventh Okay, so
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: I got my son after Wednesday, he's got four more
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: years of high school football. He'll be a freshman in
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: the next fall, and then my seventh graders got five
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: years left. He'll have eighth grade and then four years
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: of high school. So I got five more years after
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: this until my young my three are all gone, and
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: that'll be That's where our emphasis is, can we get
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: a five year grind? And again, I want to be
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: very clear of what we're doing here. There are a
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: lot of schools around Charlotte that impoor kids on a
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: daily basis. Kids are changing classes, changing schools mid season.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: We got kids transferring after week five and then going
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: to show up and play quarterback on another team five
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: days later. Like what you see happening is happening here
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: in Charlotte. We have kids that want to come to
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: Charlotte Christian. If we could get everyone in, it'd be
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: a lot easier, but we can't. So you get in
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: a couple here and there. But we don't have open enrollment.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: We don't have open admissions like some of the other
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: schools we compete against. And the reality is this is
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: the harder way to do it right, Like this is
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: the this is a bigger grind, and we don't shy
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: away from it. We're going to continue to coach the
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: hell out of these kids. We're going to continue to
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: coach our kids kids and build that core and build
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: that you know, it's no different than at the college level.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: If you don't recruit well, you can only transfer portal
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: your wish so much, high school football has become the
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: transfer portal, at least here in North Carolina. There's always
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: going to be an element of kids coming into the program.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: That's common. But you have to add good kids to
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: an already very good core nucleus of players that understand
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: your culture. That's the secret. You see it in college.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: It's no different than in the high school world.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: So this is again I'll clarify. I'll see if what
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: what I'm saying is correct, because this sounds like pretty
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: big breaking news that Adam Schefter would cover. Charlotte Christian
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: can feel good about having this staff in place in
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: the middle school era for the next five years.
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: I want to be clear. We are going to coach
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: the middle school team one more year. Next year, we're
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: going to get this current seventh grade class that we're
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: coaching now, okay, he will get them to high school.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: How we manage doing. You know, do we start helping
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: out with some of the JD stuff to allocate some
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: time to there as these classes get older before they're
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: ready for varsity.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: We will coach the middle school team, Okay, one more year,
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: next year, get my younger son up to high school
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: contracts up and maybe some sort of hybrid middle school
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: JV type world while you know my kids are in
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: ninth and tenth grade.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: This is this is exactly why Greg Olsen has such
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: a great career on the podium and he's doing so great. Yeah,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: he's so well spoken. He said, we'll do the JV
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: and we'll do the Pop Warner. But we know when
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: it sounds like he doesn't want it, we're gonna have
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: a head football coach for the high school coach James Is.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: He doesn't know what's coming. I have, and I honestly
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: don't blame him.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: I want to stay.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: When I start that rumor, we're putting that rumor to.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Bed, and that you're doing a great job right now,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: you're doing a phenomenal job. We'll put the room in
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: the bed. I'm gonna put the room.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: Be not.
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: Eager, nor do I really want at whatever. I want
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: to be a head high school coach. That is a
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: twelve month of year job. I could not call my
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: games like volunteering. Doing what we're doing now as a
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: as a program accessory, as a program kind of helper
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: is one thing. Coaching real high school ball, if you
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: want to do it right, is a seven day a week,
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: twelve month a year, full time job. I'm not doing that.
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: Maybe Luke wants to do that. I'm not doing that
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: right now.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: Some people saying you don't love it enough. Coachiley, Coach Kickley.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: When you have, you know this next year going into
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: the final year your guys' contract, When you have seventh
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: graders hitting the portal and wanting to visit Charlotte Christian,
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: what is your message to them, knowing they're not going
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: to get you for the full two years at Charlotte Christian.
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: Well, they'll keep growing. We will still be part of
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: the program. So they might not get us that year,
- 1:24:42Speaker 5: but the next year will be still there. So they
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: just got to continue to learn and play hard. And
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: you want to come play real football, you gotta come
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: a shark Christian.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: I love that.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: It's our slogan. We play real ball.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: We play. Yeah, hey, we have so, Luke And by
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: the way, whenever this your guys a season ends again,
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: invites on the table both you guys, Greg, you travel
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: around a lot as well, but open invite to join
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: the boys in.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: The locker room or NFL forty five minute flight really easy,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: We'll put you out the whole thing.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Quick flight forty five minutes will feed you really well.
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: Camaraderie will be high, will be with Clay Matthews and
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: Delaney Walker. But where I'm taking you with this question.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: Clay Matthews has a very competitive kindergarten flag football team.
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: He's under a lot of heat right now from the
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: outside noise in the fan base and the parents that
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: are with that team because he went in the championship
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: Sunday and apparently didn't play all the kids because he
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: was trying to win a football game. Now he's taking
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: a lot of heat for not playing all the kids.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: Care to comment, both of you, guys.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: Derry Coacher's versus Night Fair. I'm shocked that there's not
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: playtime rules. When we used to do the kids at
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: the younger level, when we did Pop Warner, when Luke
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: and I and my dad did Pop Warner. A couple
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: of years ago. For a few years there was minimum
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: playtime rep. So this was well like fifth and sixth grade.
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: We had minimum plays and they had somebody who actually
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: sat on the sideline with a clipboard and had to
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: check off every kid had to play what ten plays?
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: Ten plays? Minimum play time You've always had in the
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: football world. There's been rules in place when we did
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: flag football when the kids were small. Each kid had
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: to play like a quarter or that whatever. There was
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: like ways to quantify playing time. So I don't know, Listen,
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: I'm not judging anyone. We have not always gotten it right.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: It's very easy to get caught up in the moment
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: of trying to be competitive and trying to win at
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: the you know, kinder kindergarten six year olds. Yeah, even
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: I'm like, let him get a rep. I mean, they
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: don't have to get the ball.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: Greg greg play has lost sleep because that trophy. They
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: lost the game they were in a they were in
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: a tough one, and he's trying to win a game.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: All the kids don't get in. It's five on five.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: I think this team carries fourteen on the roster. It's
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: a lot of games, but he's lost sleep over not
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: having the championship, and after you know, he's still bleeding
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: in a lot of parents, he's hearing a lot of
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: noise he didn't play my kids.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: A lot of emails take place, a lot of random
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: text messages from different area codesh coming out at him
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: So it's tough, Luke, Are you trying to win a
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: football game or are you making your you getting all
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: the boys in?
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: Well, Luckily for us, we can get him in before
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: the game starts.
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: We play a fifth quarter, so all the kids we
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: get twelve offensive snaps twelve defensive snaps before the game.
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: We get all our kids in, so once the ball
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: kicks off, we're trying to win a football game. The
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: rules for the pop warner that Greg talked about helped
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: us out a lot, and then that fifth quarter before
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: the Christian game helps us out a lot because all
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: the kids get an opportunity to get a couple reps
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: every game, so they know they're going to get in.
- 1:27:40Speaker 5: And then when we play the real game, we get
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: our kids in there that can go play and help
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: us win football game. So I think we just we
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: owe it to the kids to go out and try
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: our best to win the games, and if the score
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: and the time in the game dictates it, we can
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: put the other kids in and get other kids opportunities,
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: because I think the best thing that we can do
- 1:27:57Speaker 5: is try to prepare our seventh graders for live action
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: next year. So it's the eighth grader and the older
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: guy's job to help us get ahead, get a lead,
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: and put those young kids in to give them an
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: opportunity to play for next year.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Just a couple of season bets. They knew all these
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: questions were coming. They've read everything we've read as well.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: They did.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: They just know, they don't they know what they're doing. Absolutely.
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: I'm just shock you guys, since so much time on
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: message boards.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Listen, that's what friends do. Greg Like, we sit there
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: with Greg's friend might.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: Say, your friends, your message boards just trying to drive wedges.
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: Do I have a buyout? Am I going to coach
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: somewhere else?
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: And they what what a friend?
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: Look?
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: Would a friend allow all that noise to keep happening
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: or give you these to be able to sit there
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: and say, listen, this is not true. This is true.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: So we're giving you guys a massive platform for you
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: guys to say, Listen, I know everyone. Everyone's eyes aren't
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: Charlotte Pop Warner football right now, let us be very
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: clear about Charlotte Christian Pop Warner, Boom Warner. Listen, it's
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: under high school, it's Pop Warner. It's a blame, I
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: think a thing. That's how it goes.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: I just think, how can I motivate these boys? How
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: can I give them some Multimore material? How can I
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: give them some fodder? You know, I know a lot
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: of people from your area tune in. They want to
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: know are we going to have a staff over the
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: next few years. I'm trying to do my journalism as well.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: I think they tune in because they hope we lose.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: That's that's exactly where you want to be to. You
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: kind of want to be hated in that world. You
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: got you gotta love. Coach, go ahead, if you guys
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: win this game. I don't know if the league gives
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: you a trophy for going to feed or will you
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: guys go out and get your team trophy? So hey,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: undefeated season maybe rings now, probably not.
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: You know, I think that would go against everything we've
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: preached to the boys all year. I want to make
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: sure we're consistent, like playing to win and being out
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: there for the sole purpose of only caring about winning,
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: I think are two very different things. Like we believe
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: winning is a byproduct, like winning is a byproduct of
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: how we prepare as coaches and the plan we put in,
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: and then winning is a byproduct of how we practice
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: today and then our film study that we're going to
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: do after and how we and how we warm up
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: and how we execute, Like we believe if we do
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: all those things, winning will take care of itself, right,
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: Like we will win if we do all of these things.
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: We're not gonna sit here and say rule number one
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: win because then I feel like we're losing all of
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: the development. We're losing all of the pieces that we
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: all understand prepares these kids to play in high school,
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: prepares these kids to be really good varsity players at
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: some point in the next couple of years. So if
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: we win every game, great, If we don't win every game, fine,
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: Like we understand what we signed up for. We're gonna
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: try to win. We're gonna do everything in our power,
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: and then after the game ends, sure we'd be seven
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: and oh if we were fortunate enough to win, or
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: we were six and in one if we weren't, And
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: the conversation is, did we get better? Did we develop
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: these kids? Did we develop an attitude and toughness around
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: football that we can carry over into high school? Like
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: we want to make sure all those things are right.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: We feel like if we do, all those things are
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: odds of our winning any given game, this game two
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: weeks ago, whenever it was, are in our favor. If
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: we play well. If we don't play well, this team
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: can beat us.
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. If I have an air, I
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: want to play for you tube?
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: You do you do?
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: I don't have an air. I don't have a boy.
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: I thought you had a boy.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: No, two girls? Two girls?
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: Girls? Got it? Then come on cheerleader squad?
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, looks I love, I love, I love
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: I guess yeah, I love him to cheer for your
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: if I if I ever have a boy, I'm moving
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: to Yeah.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Perfect.
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: You guys are all girls?
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: All girls? Four girls come in the.
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: Water on that bus.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: It's I think it's the size really than anything. Just
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: there's always a I think it's the same. Who is
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: it Tobb? I think it's yeah, But there's also like that.
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: I think it's God's way of saying, like you're too
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: massive generation.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you're too massive, much masculine dogs.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: You are too much dogs playing on that grid iron.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: We have to give you a girl to calm yourself
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: down a little bit.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: I love that.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: You guys, what talks a matter of football?
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: Real quick?
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: Yep? I got six minutes perfect.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: Let's rapid fire Panthers go and beat the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys defense is absolutely terrible. But Bryce Young has
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: himself a nice game. Are we going to be surprised
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: after Bryce Underwood get Bryce Underwood, Bryce Young gets benched
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: last year? Playing better?
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Are we going to be surprised when the Carolina Panthers
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: give him an extension.
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: I think they got to figure out what they're gonna
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: do with that fifth year option first.
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: That's the big thing going into this offseason, and I
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: think Dan Morgan and Bran Tillis and those guys in
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: the front office are going to try to figure out
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: what they want to do there.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: I think Bryce has played a lot better in spots.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: Obviously through the interception yesterday that wasn't his fault as
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: a slant that got dropped, and I thought at the
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: end of the game. Bryce took us down at the
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: six minutes to go to go score and win, so
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: he's played better in spots. I think what all we're
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: looking for from this team is just more consistency. I
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: think we're good upfront. We've run the ball really well
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: the past couple weeks, and for Bryce, I think it's
- 1:32:59Speaker 5: protecting the football and more consistent. And we got plenty
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: of games left to figure out what they want to do,
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: so I think the biggest thing before an extension gets
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: figured out is what do we do.
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: With that fit your option? They'll have to figure that
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: out this offseason.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: Have you watched much Dallas defense tape, Luke?
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: Yeah? They struggle, man, I mean, is it is it not.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: Like when I'm watching, Like I'm sitting there and it's
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: surprising to me how stagnant the back end is on
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: their pre snap keys and everything else they feel. I
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: know that they've mixed in a lot more man recently,
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: but those first several weeks, I feel like they're just
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: kind of like they're just kind of showing you what
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: they're doing. And they also they're so vanilla with Cover
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: two and everything else. They're not. They don't have an
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: all world roster, but they're not doing anything you know,
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: defensive philosophy wise that like help them out, you know
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: when they're gonna blitz because they're all lined up across
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage. But are you surprised when you're
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: watching kind of this Dallas team operate defensively.
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I just think, you know, watching it, especially last
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: week against the Jets and then watching some of the
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: game yesterday, a lot too high shell with two deep safeties.
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: And for us, that's what we do best is run
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: the ball from under center. So anytime we get that
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: two deep shell like that, Bryce is either checking into
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: a run or sticking with the run. And on first
- 1:34:11Speaker 5: down we are averaging almost seven yards of play and
- 1:34:14Speaker 5: a lot of it was based on the run game.
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: And then we have the ability to throw some play
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: action off of it. And I think for us, you
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: take a light box with our offensive line what Rico
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: has been able to do. And I tell you the
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: biggest thing us yesterday is I think Dave Canalison Izay
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: have done a great job of dialing plays up and
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: calling plays and calling him at the right at the
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: right moment. So yeah, Dallas has struggled defensively this year obviously,
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: but I think those guys in the.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Offensive side of the ball did a really good job
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: of calling stuff.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Heading over to the NFC East, you got the Giants
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: defeating the Eagles on Thursday Night football, largely due to
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: the CREA team Caucasians, Camp Scattaboo and Jackson Dart. Do
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: you think the way both those guys play definitely not
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: sustainable long term? However, right now it's the most electric
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: thing we're watching in football. Do you think think they
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: can will this Giants team into possibly being I'm not
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: gonna say NFC East Championship, you still the Commander's there,
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: but maybe a wild seventh, you know, make the playoffs.
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Can you see it happening?
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: I mean, I guess you could see anything happen. I
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: mean I saw them before dark even took over. Again.
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: Coming off what we're just talking about with the Cowboys offense,
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: they very well should have another win. I mean, they
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: lost by a sixty four yarder at the end of
- 1:35:25Speaker 4: regulation in a game they scored forty in overtime against
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: Dallas in Dallas when Russ went off and threw for
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: a thousand yards or whatever.
- 1:35:35Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: So I mean we've seen them play well. I think
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: their defense is really good. Obviously, Scataboo and Jackson Darton
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: now are the toast of the town, as they should.
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: They're fun, they don't take themselves too serious. They're letting
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: them loose. All that is all fun as long as
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: you continue to win. But I think defensively, I think
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: they're pretty nasty, right. I think that Brian Burns trade
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: is obviously paid off. I know he was leading the
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: league in sacks? Is he still I don't hit another
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: one though he was going into yesterday. I don't know
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: where he stands now. But you know, a duel Carter
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: Cavon Thibodeau's and playing well. Obviously they got big dex
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: Dexter Lawrence in the inside. So I mean that defense
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: they invested in heavily is playing really well. And then
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: obviously Skataboo and Jackson Dart have given them a little juice,
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: given them a little energy. I think losing neighbors at
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: some point, not having that go to guy is gonna
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: catch up to you at some point. But listen, can
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: I see them sneaking in as a seventh seed? Yeah?
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: I mean why not? I mean, we've seen teams that
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: don't even have a winning record. We've been on one.
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: We made a playoffs without a winning record. So you
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: never know in the league what I bank on it
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: probably not. I still think Philadelphia figures it out. I
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: still think Washington is a good team. Dallas is a threat.
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: Just because they're gonna score thirty a game, you're gonna
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: have to win in a shootout. At least that's what
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: it shows. So the division still challenging, which always makes
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: the path a little bit more difficult.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: What you're doing to camp Scataboo in the a gab luke.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: With good angle. He's a young guy, he's a rookie.
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: You can't let a rookie run through dude.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: Hey do you see uh do you see the Zach
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: vond clip on the sideline back to backs? Right? He's
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: physical man, bro physical, kind of had Zach on the side, shoulder.
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: Down the checko just wants to run through your face. Yeah,
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: that's how Scataboy is. He's the same exact way. Yeah,
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: he loves the contact.
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: Oh loves it. You see him just having a helmet on,
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: just head button, a brick wall and the outside. His
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: mom came out and said he used to put on
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: his older brother's shoulder pads when he was little and
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: just go run into the telephone pole.
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: Like I said, not not sustainable, but oh my god,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: this is going to be the most electric four or
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: five of your career we ever see a camp'scatabilly.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: Dude, what do you guys? What are you seeing from
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: the Philadelphia Eagles. I feel like they have the problems
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: are kind of coming to the surface. I feel like
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: they are four and two right now, could easily be
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: a one in five football team. If Cede Lamb catches
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: the deep ball in Week one, if they don't block
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: the field goal last field field goal, Yeah, field goals
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: against the Rams. They don't block a pun against the
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Obviously I'm reaching more with that one,
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: But to me, it seems like all the stuff is
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: coming to the surface about the Philadelphia Eagles. There's a
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: lot of frustration. It seems like Jalen Hurts is holding
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: on to the football, just not spinning it when he
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: has the opportunity. What are you seeing when you watch
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: that game?
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I've called a lot of their games over the years.
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: I think their rosters as good, if not better, than
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: anybody in the league. I think offensively, some of these
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: conversations have been going on for a while. I think
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: they still got to figure out their passing game. I
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: think last year when Saquon's busting seventy five yard touchdowns
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: what seemed like a weekly clip, at least through the playoffs,
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: it was. It can kind of hip little things. When
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: you're that explosive in the run game, it makes up
- 1:38:42Speaker 4: for some limitations in the passing game. Personnel wise. In
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: the passing game, there's no reason they shouldn't be better.
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: Talent wise. The two receivers got it. They got the
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: best two tackles in the league combo, so they should
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: be better. The thing that surprised me the most against
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: the Giants was the defense. Like I I you know
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: that Vic Fangioe. They're talented, they're young, I know they
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: Obviously they didn't have I don't think Carter played right.
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: Jalen Carter's play was out against the Giants. Obviously, JA
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: that made an issue. But like I think, defensively is
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: where they got to get back to being dominant. Right
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: you look back at last year the Super Bowl run
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: top defense in the league, a uniquely explosive running game,
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: and then the next factor was we still could get
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: vertical on you in the passing game.
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: D A. J.
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: Brown and DeVante DeVante Smith and and hit Chump plays.
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: So like, when your explosive passing game is your like
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: third best thing you do, you're gonna be hard to beat.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: I think that was last year's journey. So if the
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: defense and they can't get Saquon going, now, all of
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: a sudden, there's a lot more emphasis on the passing game.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: And I think that's the biggest difference between this year
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: and last year.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: I know you got to get out of here. The
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: last thing I'll ask you about is Kansas City Chiefs.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: They got Rashid Rice back this week. They've had a
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: dominant win over the Lions, who we all thought was
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: the best team in the NFL. Well, the Chiefs back,
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: what do you think.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: I think they have a lot more weapons than they
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: have in the past.
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: They got Worthy, Hollywood, Brown, Kelsey played well, Pacheco, Kareem
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: Hunt sounds like it looks like like Mahomes is playing
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: better last night. And then they can rush the pass
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: from the defense side of the ball. So I think
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: they played some close games earlier. They lost by a
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: real small margin in those first few weeks, and I
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: don't know. I mean, I don't think you can ever
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: count those guys back, count those guys out. And now
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: they have a more physical presence on the inside, I
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: think they're gonna.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: Be just fine.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: Anything sneaky you're seeing in the NFL right now that
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: you're like, hey, this is a team that's going to,
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: you know, be the cream of the crop come the
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: end of the yea.
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: I think Tampa Bay is really good. I think if
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: they could ever get healthy, they don't have anybody. I mean,
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: they don't have a soul out there. And I know
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: San Francisco obviously was too, so give them, you know.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: I hate that Fred Warner went down, dude, I know, disgusting.
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: Did forty nine ers just seem like they cannot escape
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: the injury curse? But this goes back years. But Tampa Bay,
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: I mean, Mike and stand on the side room. I
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: think god Win they lost, and Buka and Beck, I
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: mean they they have I think Bucky Bucky Irving was
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: out like there, I didn't did Worst not play too?
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: I know that works played the last year I got
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: home from.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: My game, and I kind of watched it in passing
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: as I was getting organized. But like the point being,
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: Baker might be the MVP of the league right now,
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: in the top two or three. He's literally willing them
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: to win. And were they five and one? I mean
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: they're they're really good.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: Yeah that that that run on third and what fourteen?
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: It's hot from Baker Mayfield.
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: God, he is the truly willingest team to win. Guys,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: good luck.
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: I thought this was a nice treat.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: Oh dude, it was.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: This is awesome. This is everything more you could possibly
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: ask for in a Monday morning.
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: That's that's my king. That's my king right there. When
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: Fred Warner went down with yesterday, it felt like any time,
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: you know, Luke would go down and I'm like, man,
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: he's gonna play the next week's out for the season,
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: and just kind of breaks your fucking heart. That's right.
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: The boys all eyes on the championship. I know it's
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: not technically a championship.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: But we're rooting for you.
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Ignore the noise, ignore the noise. We love you, guys.
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: Don't worry.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: We're doing We'll keep the reddit. People love you, bro.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: That was fun.
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: See you Luke. Yeah, all right, we just finished up
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: with Greg Olsen talking. You know, obviously we sat there
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: and talked all youth sports. We talked a couple of
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: the NFL games, We talked a lot of We had
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: a lot of conversation with the upcoming potential coaching carousel,
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: carrousele carrals carousel. I know I've struggled with that word
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: in the past. We'll get to a lot more football
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: talking tomorrow's episode. We're gonna do a big time. We're
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: gonna be talking to October. We're gonna be talking checking

- 1:42:49Speaker 3: will be on tomorrow's episode because I know we only
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: got to a couple today. We have a lot, we
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: have a lot to cover that'll be on tomorrow's episode.
