- KENT: I can't believe you are here. British Liz: Why? I didn't stay up all night watching football I did not KENT: You didn't? No, it's that it's not well, yeah, it is football, but it's soccer. You know, in America it's soccer. But British people call it footy or football or you know, British Liz: Yes. KENT: when I hear football, I think of Pete Manning or Eli Manning and football, like throwing the pig British Liz: Yeah. KENT: skin and stuff like that. You you say football and it's a little white ball getting kicked all over the place. But see, I British Liz: Yes and KENT: grew up and it was soccer because like I grew up with Pele. British Liz: Yes, whose KENT: Yes, yes, yes. British Liz: record of World Cup scoring has been broken by Harry Kane, the future Sir Harry, everybody thinks. I I'm I have become an enthusiast over the last couple of weeks. And KENT: awesome. British Liz: and England is currently still in the running 'cause KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: they beat Bosnia. No, not Bosnia. Who did KENT: I think America plays tomorrow. British Liz: they beat? Mexico. They beat Mexico in Mexico City. KENT: right mexico was like supposed doing really good they lost wow that was bad British Liz: They were it was it was an amazing game. And I have I have relatives in Australia who were watching, so we were texting back and forth like, Go, no, that was that was a crime, you know, all that kind of stuff. And KENT: Mm mm. Awesome. British Liz: also relatives in Cyprus, England and Denmark were watching. So we all had a family KENT: Use it. British Liz: reunion over the game. KENT: my gosh. Now were you drinking coffee while you were doing the watching or were we having drinky drink? British Liz: Not sure I drank anything. Maybe maybe tea. KENT: what are you drinking now? Like, hey, yeah. By the way, my name is Kent. If this is your first time listening to the British Liz: yeah. And this KENT: show. British Liz: and I'm British Liz and this is actually a Comic Con podcast. It is not a football, soccer, World Cup podcast. It just happens to be on my mind at the moment. KENT: Yeah. Well and again, if you're just joining us, you're our only subscriber. you know, we talk about other things besides Comic Cons, but you know, to start off with our coffee and things like that, and then we roll into the topics and get into the juicy stuff that we really want to talk British Liz: Yes. KENT: about. But yeah, like you know, I I I haven't gone out and gotten a coffee in a while because I usually make my own coffee and I've been doing the bullet coffee and stuff like that. But you know, I went to the movies today and as you can see my popcorn is right here. you know. When you go to the movies and buy a ten dollar bucket of popcorn, you eat the one bucket there and then you bring one home. So it's only five bucks, you know. But I had British Liz: Well, does that mean does that mean I could take this and get free popcorn? Next next. KENT: No, you can get a refill on that thing. they'll they'll charge you less. Yeah. Yeah, British Liz: Did you see? And KENT: I see the Mandalorian There you go. Mm-mm. British Liz: Brandon Wayne. Brandon Wayne. And I'm gonna take that to Rebel Scum and get a few other people to sign it to. KENT: There you go, yeah. So before I went to the movies, I went to Panera Bread to get a coffee. And I you know, I used when I was doing sales, I used to stop at Panera Bread all the time and get dark rose coffee and stuff like that. I think today and I'm like either they watered it down or I'm really getting bougie with my bullet coffee because you know I I I British Liz: You're getting bougie. You are so bougie with your coffee. Ooh the blend. Ooh the vanilla. Yes. KENT: No, no, I don't do all the you know, like British Liz: Yes, you do. KENT: high end, I don't get like ten pumps of vanilla and all the other flavoring. That that just adds more calories, you know. If you're watching, Liz has got her face up into the camera saying, yes he does, yes he does. British Liz: I I was just I was just expressing my opinion that you talk a load of rubbish. I Yes, KENT: Speaking from experience. British Liz: I am drinking guess what? Tea My PG tips is KENT: G tips. PG that that generic T Earl. It's not even Earl Grey, it's like black. British Liz: Well it's no, it is just it is just black tea and it's milk and sugar KENT: Huh. British Liz: and it's wonderful and civilized. What can I say? I'm and KENT: All right. Well, there you go. Be seven lines, yeah. But British Liz: I'm a loyal tea drinker. I always drink PG tips. I don't I don't go around drinking different brands and you know being unfaithful like you. KENT: Yeah, but PG Tips isn't paying you to drink their I mean if they wanna be a sponsor they could but to pay you to drink the tea but like generic tea like I wanna have it's you said generic British Liz: It's not no, you see, now I said that word weeks and weeks ago. I said generic. It's not generic. It is it's like the KENT: But look, I try different coffees. British Liz: yes, but PG Tips, it's like the the brand everybody drinks. It'd be like saying Nescafe, you know, it's just what everybody drinks. KENT: That's like going into Dunkin' Donut and just getting the glazed donut every single time you go into Dunkin' Donut. Yuck. You gotta have some variety in life. You gotta make that glazed donut a crispy cream donut. You know, you gotta have a different glazed donut. Like, you don't just eat Dunkin' Donut for the rest of your life. You go to Krispy Kreme, and then you go to Five Daughters Bakery, you go to and you try the glazed donut, and then you're like, this one's way better than the Dunkin' Donut because it's got more flavor, or it's got different dough, or it's like, PG chips, drink it. You just Yes. Everybody's gonna hate me. You go to Waffle House? my gosh, I didn't British Liz: You know, every Sunday, every Sunday we go to Waffle House. We go to Waffle House. We ought to Waffle House every Sunday that we're in town KENT: know you were a waffler. British Liz: and I order the same dish. I have ordered the same dish for probably fifteen years. KENT: Chocolate chip waffles. British Liz: No. I don't really eat waffles. But so I am a creature KENT: Okay. You go to so wait, what did you British Liz: of habit. This is what I'm saying. KENT: Okay, creature I have it. Yep, yep. What is it? British Liz: I've ordered the same breakfast at Waffle House for decades. KENT: What is it? British Liz: Cheesy eggs and raisin toast. KENT: Cheesy eggs and raisin toast, that's it? Okay. British Liz: Cider grits, cider bacon. KENT: Now here's a question. Is there was there a waffle house in Colorado Springs? Okay, all right. Yeah, yeah, we wow. British Liz: Yeah, and we went there for years. They watched the kids grow up. It's great. KENT: That's crazy. I moving to Tennessee, moving to Tennessee, British Liz: Yeah, so creature of habit. KENT: I've learned about Waffle House. It was interesting to go to the Waffle House a couple of times. Now, you know who's another big Waffle House fan? Rakishi, the wrestler. British Liz: Is he? KENT: my gosh, that guy he loves Waffle House. Like I've worked with him several times and he's like, we'd get done with an event, and it could be like seven o'clock at night, and he'd be like, Hey, let's go get some Waffle House. Like he loves Waffle House, like this. Yes, yeah. Have you have you see British Liz: Next time I am so in. You need to invite me. Just saying. KENT: Rikishi, the WW Hall of Fame wrestler at an event, just say, hey. Let's go to Waffle House. And he would probably he'll be like, let's go. I'm British Liz: Ha ha ha. KENT: not joking. He loves Waffle House. British Liz: Well I mean there are waffle houses and there are waffle houses. KENT: Yeah. British Liz: So so yeah, it's not always brilliant, but the food KENT: Mm. British Liz: is hot and straight off the griddle. It's great. KENT: Do they have tea, hot tea there, or do you drink coffee? British Liz: I don't drink tea when I'm out. I drink coffee when I'm out. KENT: So PG Tips is a generic at home brand. British Liz: Not generic. It's a brand. No, it's KENT: Ha ha. Okay, fine. See, I already finished my coffee, just listening to you. I'm out! British Liz: Okay folks, write to me and tell me why I'm using the wrong word here. It's not generic, it's standard, it's like the the go-to brand. It's like saying Kleenex, you know, it's just KENT: Mm-hmm. Like Bolgers. British Liz: Yeah, or something like that. Yeah. So it's like KENT: speaking of which, I all right, you're you're old school like me. You've heard of Folgers, coffee, and stuff like that. Yeah. Best part of waking up is British Liz: Yeah the there's folders in your cup something. Waking up. KENT: Folgers in your cup. And I'm not a singer. Okay. I am not. But every British Liz: Don't give up your day job. KENT: time I hear see those commercials or I hear that song, it reminds me of a little Johnny joke. British Liz: A what? KENT: A little Johnny. Little Johnny, you never heard little Johnny jokes? my gosh. So little Johnny is his boy, and he decides he wants to make his mom breakfast in bed because it's like a special day, Mother's Day and stuff like that. So he's whipping up stuff. She hears it, she's like, my gosh, what's going on? All of a sudden the door slams open. He comes in, he's got breakfast there, and he's got and a cup of coffee, and she's like, this looks great, thank you. He goes, Mom, drink your coffee, drink your coffee. And she's like, Okay, okay. So she starts sipping around and does a cringe because it's just bitter and nasty, you know, you know, little kid making coffee, not the best. And so she keeps drinking, and all of a sudden she looks in the cup and she sees like this green thing floating in there, and she's like, Huh. So she keeps drinking, and all of a sudden she sees a head of a soldier, and she's like, What the heck? So she keeps drinking and All of a sudden like she drinking it all the way getting it down and stuff like that. And she's like looking and she's like, Johnny, why is there a soldier in my cup? He goes, Mom, on the TV they say the best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup. British Liz: Okay, that's cute. KENT: I love that joke. That's a it's a cute joke. It's funny. Like old school people that drink soldiers get it. So Yeah, that's the only joke I I can ever remember. Like I used to be an encyclopedia of jokes. I can't remember but one. British Liz: I'm not a good enough actor to tell a joke. You have KENT: there you go. British Liz: to pause in the right spots. I'm not very good at that. KENT: I heard a joke today. I yeah, I'll I'll keep it to myself then. British Liz: Ha ha ha. KENT: We'll keep it VG here today. So yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. British Liz: good, thank you. KENT: How was your week? I mean, we talked about football and Mexico losing and everybody in the in your family's watching it all over the place and we got into our coffee. How was your week? did you go to a Comic Con? Were you at a con? Did you have Okay. British Liz: It was good. I was not. It was the big birthday weekend, two hundred and fiftieth. So KENT: two fifty. Did they blow up your city? British Liz: my goodness, there were so many neighborhood fireworks. It's KENT: yeah. British Liz: so funny. I've lived in Colorado the last twenty odd years and it was KENT: Yeah, can't blow anything up. British Liz: it you it was always there was always a firework KENT: Fire hazard. British Liz: ban because of fires and right now KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: they have fires already. KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: And so I think it never even occurred to me to do backyard fireworks, just KENT: yeah. Here you can. British Liz: my goodness, in Missouri you can. It was like a war zone from like KENT: yeah. Yeah. British Liz: Wednesday through to Sunday. It's just crazy. And KENT: Yeah. Still going on in my neighborhood. British Liz: and my hubby went out and actually filmed, it wasn't just it wasn't just the noise. There were people in the street setting off fireworks. I went to the city display and it was less impressive. It was funny. KENT: Well, the city here tried to blow up the city because it was being televised on TV. They had Boys British Liz: Mm-hmm. KENT: the Mind and they had s Ryan Seacrest and the Jonas Brothers. I mean, of course, it's British Liz: Mm-hmm. In Nashville. KENT: in Nashville, Music City, like they had this huge stage. Like you can go on Google, not Google, you can go on Instagram and just type Broadway or Nashville Fireworks or And I am not joking, it was wall to wall people for I want to say six seven blocks and each side street would I it like I'm not joking Liz it was crazy and then the British Liz: Where was this actually at Music City where we w where that con was? KENT: Yeah, well, on on Broadway, because they put the stage on on Broadway right by the waterfront British Liz: okay. Gotcha, okay. KENT: and then they used the stadium to launch all the fireworks and stuff like that. So British Liz: Wow. KENT: they blew up all kinds of fireworks. But I I was tempted to go down there just to see it and I'm so glad I did not. Because I heard the parking was terrible and then the amount of people I If you were to watch the fireworks, you would have had to do it. I would have done it from a rooftop bar. Not doing it British Liz: Mm-hmm. KENT: on the street because all those people down there, no way. I would have got on a rooftop bar. And then you probably had to be there like at noon just to get a good spot. So then what do you do? You drink and eat all day. And so you're spending a hundred dollars or more. British Liz: And and bake and bake what was it in the nineties there? KENT: I was ninety eight on the fourth of July. So yeah, no. I I don't need to get there, you know. I saw it from the comfort of my home in air conditioning, rocked out the door, British Liz: Yeah. KENT: threw a couple of eighties on the street and called it a day. British Liz: Well, now KENT: Yeah. British Liz: now that I know, if I don't have a con next fourth of July, maybe I'll join in the fun and set off some fireworks. KENT: Well, all you gotta do is there's always a fireworks stand around the corner somewhere. And yeah, so I'm gonna let you know. British Liz: they're everywhere. Those little pop ups. Yeah. KENT: Fourth of July, they will start a setting up in June and then they'll start setting right up after Thanksgiving for the new year. Yeah. So you get two times British Liz: For New Year's? KENT: to blow up everything. So yeah. Learn something British Liz: Okay. KENT: new, yeah. British Liz: So you obviously you were home for the fourth KENT: I was home. I was home for the fourth, which is surprising 'cause, you know, a week off. But I am heading to British Liz: Yes. Well and previous previous years it's I think Denver has KENT: Denver. British Liz: had the Fourth of July weekend. Well, they moved it for KENT: Yep, I always been in Denver. British Liz: May this year. KENT: Yep. But it'll be back next year. Yeah, yeah. British Liz: okay. So I probably won't be home. KENT: There you go. See. I I usually go to Denver because it's fourth of July and I have family that lives there. So two trips, you know, make it a work trip, family trip, get spend time with my nephews and stuff like that. So yeah, why not? Yeah, so but Are you going anywhere? Doing anything this week with Comic Con? where are you headed? British Liz: I am I am going to a horror con KENT: Mm. British Liz: in St. Louis called KENT: Horror. British Liz: STL Horror and it's it's interesting 'cause I am not a horror person, but KENT: Yeah. British Liz: it's not like it's scary, you know, because KENT: No, no. British Liz: even at even at regular cons you get all kinds of, you know, blood dripping kind of costumes. KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: So it's Not like they're gonna be any more horrific. KENT: Well, people dress up as some of the terrifier people or you know, Jason or Freddie and stuff like that. Yeah. British Liz: Yeah. And so so that that'll be fine. I'm KENT: I have to do one in August. British Liz: Where's that one? KENT: Noxville. Creepy con. British Liz: Great name. So KENT: Yeah. You should go. There you go. British Liz: I think my August is a little bit booked. KENT: Full. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, horror cons it's not like I'm sitting there like, my gosh, I gotta get the autograph of you know now people that have been around in the industry for a long time, yes, Robert England, gotta get one. That's nostalgia, British Liz: yeah. KENT: that's just sh why not? you know, add it to your collection of pictures with or autographs. Yeah, you gotta do it. But you know, yeah, I don't I'm not I I'm not searching for any specific person at a horror one. British Liz: Yes, it for me it's usually the other stuff they've done. KENT: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. The again there's like Nev Campbell who's been in Scream but she's been in a whole bunch of TV shows and movies and what's the one with Ron Pearlman that she was in? Hellboy? Yeah, Hellboy. British Liz: She was in Hellboy? KENT: Was she? Nev Campbell? Yeah. British Liz: Was she? KENT: Yeah. British Liz: Well, I never saw it 'cause you know, it it smacks of horror, so it's not Okay. KENT: No, no, you gotta watch Hellboy. Hellboy's good. Ron Furlman's in it. Sam Jones not what's his name? John a bunch Doug Doug Jones is in it. British Liz: yeah. KENT: yeah. So yeah, it's it's you would actually like it. It's actually from a comic book, so it's not really horror, it's more science sci-fi. Okay, so there you go, put it on your list. boy. Boom. Yeah, but British Liz: All right. So so then where are you headed this weekend? KENT: I'm going to New Orleans. I'll have a beignet. yeah, this is British Liz: this is the beginning of your epic trip? Where you've got like four in a row. KENT: yep. But I will get a beignet for you and take a picture, send it to you because we've had beignets in New Orleans before and sent pictures to our friends. So this is be British Liz: We have during Mardi Gras KENT: a yeah, Mardi Gras. during the first day of Mardi Gras. Yeah. British Liz: Yes. KENT: We even went and had hot dogs with the ninja turtles. Instead of pizza, we went and got hot dogs. I remember that. That was British Liz: We did. Yes. Did we have didn't we have alligator hot dogs? KENT: Well yeah, it's it was the craziest hot dog. It was it's a famous hot dog place in New Orleans. I just remember that. And Ferris was there and British Liz: And we were we were just KENT: he bought like four or five hot dogs and Barry and who else was there? Just a lot. British Liz: Was it was it Barry that was so keen to find the place? He said there was this place and then we're tracing all over trying to find it. KENT: Yes. Yes. Yeah. We found it. We found it. We had fun. It was a good you know, I love those stories or those memories that you're like, yeah, I did that with Liz in New Orleans and we we were eating beignets and then we bumped into the turtles and you know, and we were having drinks at the hotel with Peter Cullen and Frank and just Yeah, British Liz: yeah. KENT: my gosh, that was crazy. See This is why subscribers listen to us. It's because we British Liz: Yeah. KENT: we're like, we I forget half the stuff we've done. Yeah, yeah. British Liz: I do too. Yes. KENT: but it's good, it's good. This is why we share these stories is just because, you know We rehash things that we've done and excited. You know, cause when we hear the fans their stories, it's like, I remember doing that. yeah, I've done that. So if you're listening and you've got a story about the turtles, I'm put it in the comments. I want to know. British Liz: This this would be this would be the original animated turtles. That's KENT: Yes. Can you name them all? Can you name right? British Liz: Well, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon, Rob Paulson, and KENT: Uh-huh. Rob Holston. British Liz: Cam. Him. KENT: Yeah, what's Cam's last name? brain British Liz: I'm such an idiot. KENT: fart. Is it Newman? British Liz: No shoot. Look it up. You're looking it up. KENT: Yeah, you just I am not looking it up but British Liz: But yeah, so the original four KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: absolutely lovely, lovely guys. KENT: yeah. British Liz: And just I've known Townsend a long time, so sorry. KENT: Cam Clark. Clark. British Liz: Camp that's right. Okay. I knew it began with a C. KENT: Yeah, yeah. But you're good friends with but you're good friends with Townsend, so British Liz: Yes. KENT: you know the turtles. Like. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. British Liz: Well, I know them a bit, but I know t I know Tanton for a long time. KENT: I forgot about that hot dog a adventure through New Orleans. British Liz: Yes. KENT: That was fun. That was fun. But yeah, if you're a listener and you love the turtles, tell us. I want to know how many people love the turtles. If you've ever met any of the turtles, and it doesn't even have to be the original, just a ninja turtle. Like, because that is a huge franchise. I mean, it's been movies and British Liz: huge. KENT: TV shows and all kinds of stuff. Like, yeah, it's kind of like the Power Rangers, just British Liz: And they they're constantly relaunching it. Yes. KENT: always launching something new. British Liz: Yes. KENT: Yeah, and we know the OG people. British Liz: Yes. KENT: Walter. but yeah, w we're we'll have to have British Liz: Yes. KENT: Walter on this show. Bring on one of the Power Rangers and British Liz: yes, we should. He's lovely. KENT: Yeah, teach us how to salsa dance or whatever. He'll teach you salsa dance. You don't know that? He's a he's a world champion salsa dancer. Yeah, Sam British Liz: Really? KENT: Jones, the Black Power Ranger, World Champion, Salsa Dancer, he's yeah, Walter Jones. British Liz: No, Walter, Water James. Yeah. KENT: Yeah, he's really good. British Liz: That's so cool. KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: Do you think he'd dance for us? That would be so cool. KENT: He if you go to a Comic Con, he will always have music and he will always dance. Like no joke, like he will get he'll just get up and start dancing and he'll grab one of the ladies in line and start spinning around and dancing. Yeah, it just makes it fun at the Comic Con. I love when the talent interacts with the British Liz: Yes. KENT: fans. Like just from my British Liz: Well rooker. KENT: Michael Rooker, yeah. He loves fans. my gosh. British Liz: He's he's so sweet with the kids. KENT: yeah. He I he like he does so many funny things with the kids. Like I've had push-up contests with the kids. I've I've seen him like this one kid came up and just didn't have enough money and he's like, go around and ask everybody for a dollar and then if you really want the autograph, we'll get you'll get it. And the kid went around and asked asked people for a dollar and came back and had the money and he gave him a discount so he could get it, but it was he just wanted he wanted British Liz: That is so sweet. KENT: to see if the kid really wanted the autograph. And then he also wanted to see if he was a go-getter, would he take on the challenge and stuff like that? So yeah, I love stuff like that. Like I work with Ray Parks, and anybody that comes up to the table with a lightsaber, well, there's a distraction right there, because he will get out British Liz: Ha ha ha. KENT: and he's whipping that lightsaber around and spinning and doing jump kicks and backflips and all kinds of crazy stuff. British Liz: Is he still doing cons? I haven't seen him in a few years. Mm-hmm. KENT: Yeah, Ray Parks, yeah. He's still doing some. He not as many, but yeah, I just saw I saw him at Collecticon. British Liz: Yeah, so it's been a couple of years since I've seen him. KENT: So yeah, it's it's pretty good. So yeah. British Liz: But so you're headed to New Orleans. KENT: New Orleans, I'll have a beignet for you. Yep. Yeah, British Liz: Thank you. And then is it Connecticut after that? KENT: then I go to Connecticut, to do I think that so I'll probably be with Kevin Smith in New Orleans and Bryce Papenbrook. Or Johnny Young Bosch in Connecticut. And then after that, I fly to San Diego to do San Diego Comic-Con to come back. British Liz: Now, what are you gonna be doing there? KENT: that one is up in the air right now. attending mostly. but I probably will end up helping some of the talent that I know at the show, doing what I do, handling and helping them with the customers. British Liz: Well, 'cause I know one of the years one of the years I went, you KENT: Mm-hmm. British Liz: were just attending and then you ended up with Bryce Pappenbrook 'cause he needed somebody. KENT: Yep, that's how it happens. Yep. And then gripping burns and yep. I like that because it keeps me busy. Cause I literally British Liz: Yes. KENT: can go through I've been doing San Diego since ninety-two. All right. So that's 30 plus years. I know it like the back of my hands. The only thing is is I don't do the panels. Because one, I'm not standing in those long lines. And I've heard most of the stories. So British Liz: Yeah. KENT: I usually hang out in the vendor hall, you know, and make new connections or go see the like Mary Lee has a booth there and you know she always has something new and exciting or I'll go to the sideshow booth and or I know the people at the Star Wars pavilion area so I hang out with them and see what's new and what's late and get the free swag and yeah I make it fun but I could do San Diego in a day British Liz: Yeah. KENT: not four days but British Liz: Yes. And just the the steps so huge. Just my yeah, my KENT: You you definitely get your steps then at San Diego Comic Con. British Liz: my feet were extremely unhappy when I went. So yeah, I don't know I don't know about doing that one again. It was just it was too big, I thought. For me. For me. KENT: What you need to do or what you could attempt to do is go to New York. British Liz: I should do New York at least once. Yeah. KENT: You've done MegaCon. I know you've done Salt Lake. I know you've done Demper. I know you've done San Diego. The one British Liz: Yes. KENT: you oughta look at is New York. That way you can say you've done the big ones. British Liz: Yes I should look into that. KENT: Yeah. So put it on your list of bucket list, yep. British Liz: My bucket list. KENT: Yep, yep, yep, yep. Man yeah. British Liz: So are you are you going back to Nashville after San Diego or do you have another one? KENT: n and then yeah well I go back in between all of these but British Liz: okay. KENT: no I go actually go back and then I go to CreepyCon. So yeah. British Liz: Busy, busy, busy. KENT: And then after that I go to Vegas for Star Trek. British Liz: Yes, that's right. And that's in middle of August? KENT: First week in August, yeah. British Liz: Okay. KENT: Yeah, so it's a busy summer, which is fine by me. I I still love this stuff, it's fun. I get more stories to share. British Liz: Yes. KENT: Speaking of stories, British Liz: Yes. KENT: if you can't see, I have my AMC bucket of popcorn right here. British Liz: Yes. KENT: went to the movies today. British Liz: Yes, you said. What did KENT: Yeah. British Liz: you see? KENT: I went and saw Supergirl. Yeah. And it was it was alright. I mean well British Liz: That's a that's a little bit damning, no? KENT: I mean James Gunn has created a a new Superman, Supergirl, he's doing it in his vision, you know, and you know my expectations weren't high, but I also had just from the previews. you know that she's drunk and she's on this other planet and Lobo's there and there's gonna be this battle and stuff like that. And it really wasn't what I was expecting. So it was kind of a surprise. British Liz: So the preview was a little misleading or KENT: Yeah, a little misleading because you know, I I don't want to give it away for people. But you know, she basically is fighting somebody to save something. Yeah. British Liz: Okay. KENT: And then in between, there's this girl that needs Revenge and they bond and supergirls attempting to help her and stuff like that. So it wasn't too bad. I mean I would I need to watch it again? Probably not. But this is my opinion. And so if a subscriber is getting upset because they love Supergirl, awesome. You know, I I'm excited because I work with, you know, Sean Gunn and Nila and some of the people of the Superman cast. So British Liz: Yes. KENT: the hearing their stories about Millie and how excited they were for her to, know, be Supergirl and and then, you know, just little bits like Superman's shows up in the movie and has a few roles in there, nothing big, but you know, he's there and you know it it it ties them in a little bit better than what you saw on Superman. You know. So yeah. Again, would I go back and watch it? Yeah, maybe if I was bored and it was on the plane and there was nothing else British Liz: Yeah. KENT: to watch. So Sorry, James, don't don't be hurt by my opinion. Everybody else probably loved it, but yeah, I mean go watch it. It was worth the watch. The graphics were good. you know, girl power and bonding and you know good versus evil. So yeah. It was worth the watch. British Liz: Okay. KENT: Yeah. Have you seen anything good lately? British Liz: I've been watching Silo, which is KENT: you know what? I just earmarked that one on Apple TV because I was like, 'cause isn't that British Liz: Yeah. Yeah, I just KENT: Go ahead. British Liz: Yeah, it's the Rebecca Ferguson who plays the mother in June. she's KENT: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She's a great actress. British Liz: she she really is. KENT: Now my question is this the silo from the movie the British Liz: There was a movie? KENT: yeah British Liz: like some time ago. KENT: Long time ago. Yeah, where they're i underground British Liz: I don't know. It's KENT: in the silo because earth is terrible and da da da. Timothy Hudson? British Liz: Well, yeah, I think the idea is that the the surface is is poisoned and so they all have to live underground. KENT: Yeah. British Liz: And then there's there's a little bit of conspiracy, a mystery, some murders, and so you've got the the double whammy of the almost cri criminal procedural plus the overarching mystery of what's really going on. Why are we down here? And is it green up top? Or is it still poisonous? So you've kind of got this Yeah, this kind of double thing going on. And she's she's she does awkward really well. KENT: Let's see. British Liz: She she manages to make you uncomfortable just watching her because you don't know KENT: Mm. British Liz: what's going on in there. but it's KENT: That's British Liz: we're just ooh, five episodes in maybe. And KENT: Okay. British Liz: it is great. It's really strong. And I heard that season three, which just came out like I think last week got I think a hundred percent on Rotten Tomatoes KENT: Okay. British Liz: which is unprecedented so that's exciting. So I'll be watching that in between football games. KENT: football games that's funny. British Liz: Yeah. KENT: Yeah. All right. No, I was there's there was a movie with Tim Robbins in it and it was like Silo. And that's why I was like, ooh, I want to watch silo. British Liz: And Tim Robbins is in this. KENT: Yeah, yeah, that's why I was like, I wonder if this is just kinda British Liz: you mean not the old one you were saying? KENT: Yeah, and I was just looking up to see if I could rem City of Embers. I think that's it. I can't remember. It's just there was one like that where they were underground because the the planet was toxic and why are they in the silo and then the the mayor like trying to keep everybody there. British Liz: I feel like it's I feel like the idea is not you you know KENT: New. British Liz: it was the hundred. KENT: Well that was a TV show. I didn't watch the Hunter. British Liz: But it's similar thing. Everyone was underground because the surface KENT: okay. Yeah. Yeah, British Liz: was toxic. KENT: yeah. And then the mayor's trying to keep everybody, but he knows it's good and blah blah blah. Yeah. Yeah. British Liz: Yeah. So so yeah, it's it's a compelling show. So enjoying that. KENT: Well there you go. Yeah. And anything else? British Liz: well I have a con in two weeks KENT: Okay. British Liz: in Waterloo, Iowa, folks. If you'd like to go to Waterloo, Iowa. It's called Con Quest KENT: Mm-hmm. Ooh, Iowa. Okay. British Liz: on the s 16th, 17th, KENT: Yeah. British Liz: that weekend of July, which I don't know that we'll have aired this then, but but I'm helping with the organization of that. So KENT: Ooh. British Liz: That should be fun. It's got a lot of vendors and about fifteen guests. So yeah. First time con. So I'm excited to be part KENT: Fifteen guess, that's a pretty good size one. Okay. Well, hopefully that goes well. British Liz: of that. KENT: Yeah. Yeah, well, sounds like we're both busy. A lot of stuff going on. And then, you know, for the listeners out there, you know, like we always say, if you're gonna go to a Comic-Con, you know, look up the area that you live in, see if there's a Comic-Con going on, pre-game your Comic-Con, like the one in Iowa that you're doing. I would look it up, I would see who the guests are, find out if they got pricing for the autographs or selfies on the website so you can British Liz: They do, yeah. Mm-hmm. KENT: gauge how much money you're gonna spend. Because you know, you wanna, you know, it's not like you walk into Disneyland and just say, all right, well, let's go over here. Usually most people that go to Disneyland pre-game, all right, we're gonna start at the jungle cruise, and then we're gonna go over to the British Liz: Yeah. KENT: scary mansion, and then we'll walk over here to the Matterhorn, and then we'll do you know Space Mountain, or we'll just do a circle. You know, same thing with the Comic Con. You wanna pre-game. British Liz: Yep. Figure out who you want to meet, whether you want to buy an autograph, selfie, get a KENT: Uh-huh. British Liz: a photo op with them. If KENT: Yeah. British Liz: you're gonna budget to buy com stuff, T shirts and toys and collectibles and comics and costumes and lightsabers and all of that. But KENT: Swords. British Liz: and yes, all swords. and and what should they bring? Kent, what's the number one thing they should have in their pocket? KENT: Deodorant. Cats money. Yes. Cats is king. my gosh. I was British Liz: Cash money. We we can't recommend enough to bring your cash with you. KENT: just out of show and Most people had cards. the ATM was out of money in the cell service and the service British Liz: As it usually is. KENT: was terrible. So trying to use the credit card machine was just circling and circling and it's like, hey, how you do hey, what brought you here? like I had to go have a conversation just because I was waiting for the money to hit the machine when we could have been through like three people already. And it was a pain in the butt. But those who had cash got to get cuts in line. Because I gotta keep the line going. So if you're got a card and it's taking a little bit, hey, if you got cash, I can take you next and then you can go get your autograph and get on to the next person. So yeah. it is. Well, I don't know who it's awkward for them or me. British Liz: Yeah. And it's it's rather socially awkward, isn't it? When when y you're like, well it's not taking your card. It's not taking your card but it's because KENT: it's British Liz: of the delay and the signal and all of that. And then it becomes you know, you have to ask ask for a different one or KENT: socially awkward for I think it's more awkward for us than them. British Liz: sorry? KENT: I think it's more awkward for us than them. Cause yeah yeah. British Liz: Yeah. that's what I mean. It's it's it's painful to say, Do you have a different one or do you have cash or something? It's KENT: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. British Liz: almost like you're accusing them when it's actually the problem of the internet. Yeah. KENT: Technology, you gotta love it, but then it also is your worst enemy. Awesome. Well, Liz, my time is done. My coffee is empty. British Liz: My tea is not quite empty, but it is cold. And you know we do not we do not KENT: Well, it's cold, so that means we've been talking long enough. British Liz: say the word iced tea in my house. KENT: No okay. No iced tea. British Liz: No I stay. KENT: You just go stick it in the microwave and reheat it. British Liz: Yes, I do. KENT: Alright, everybody, that is our time.
