- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Episode 128! I'm Lucas, and with me is Luna. Luna: Hola everyone! I'm Luna. Ready for some more Spanish? I am. Lucas: Last time we talked about weather at the park. Today, let's do something fun — buying ice cream at the park. Perfect for a sunny day. Luna: Ohh, I love ice cream. Okay, teach me. Lucas: First question you need: '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado?' That means 'How much is an ice cream?' Let's break it down: 'cuánto' how much, 'cuesta' costs, 'un helado' an ice cream. Luna: '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado?' That's a mouthful but I like it. Lucas: You got it. Say it with me: '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado?' Luna: '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado?' Lucas: Yes! Now imagine the vendor says 'Dos euros.' Two euros. Then you need to order. Say 'Quiero un helado de chocolate' — I want a chocolate ice cream. Luna: 'Quiero un helado de chocolate.' Quiero means I want, helado ice cream, de chocolate chocolate-flavored. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice that: 'Quiero un helado de chocolate.' Luna: 'Quiero un helado de chocolate.' Lucas: Perfect. Now what if the vendor asks you '¿De qué sabor quieres?' — What flavor do you want? You can answer 'De fresa, por favor.' Strawberry, please. Luna: '¿De qué sabor quieres?' That's a question. So I say 'De fresa, por favor.' Lucas: Right. 'De fresa, por favor.' Fresa is strawberry. Good. Luna: Then the vendor gives it and says 'Aquí tienes.' Here you go. And I say 'Gracias.' Thank you. Lucas: You got the whole flow. Let's run a mini scene. I'm the vendor. You come up to my ice cream stand. Luna: Okay. '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado?' Lucas: 'Dos euros.' Luna: 'Quiero un helado de chocolate.' Lucas: '¿De qué sabor quieres?' Oh wait, I already know chocolate, so I should say 'Aquí tienes.' Here you go. Luna: Right. 'Gracias.' Lucas: Perfect! You just bought ice cream in Spanish. Now let's add one more detail. If you want two scoops, you say 'Dos bolas de helado, por favor.' But we can save that for another day. Luna: Yeah, keep it simple for now. I think I've got this. Let me practice all the phrases together. Lucas: Sure, go ahead. Luna: '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado? Quiero un helado de chocolate. ¿De qué sabor quieres? De fresa, por favor. Aquí tienes. Gracias.' Lucas: Beautiful. You even switched to fresa there. That's good. Luna: So now if I'm at the park on a hot day, I can order like a local. Lucas: Absolutely. And speaking of the park, you know what's nice? Learning Spanish with no ads. That's something we're proud of at Fexingo. Luna: Yeah, I love that. No interruptions, just learning. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make progress, and you want to support that ad-free experience, there's a way. It's buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Just a simple way to keep this going. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps us keep making episodes like this. Now back to ice cream — what if I want vanilla? How do I say that? Lucas: Good question. 'Quiero un helado de vainilla.' Vainilla is vanilla. Try it. Luna: 'Quiero un helado de vainilla.' Lucas: Yes. So you can now order chocolate or vanilla. Let's do one more run: ask the price, order chocolate, and say thanks. Luna: '¿Cuánto cuesta un helado? Quiero un helado de chocolate. Gracias.' Lucas: Perfect. You're ready for the park. Practice these phrases, and next time we'll learn how to say 'with sprinkles' or something fun. Luna: Ooh, sprinkles. That sounds good. See you next time, everyone! ¡Adiós! Lucas: ¡Adiós! Keep practicing with Fexingo.
