- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset, coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31People often ask me how I find the time to do all the things
- 0:35that I do here with coaching, my building out courses, writing
- 0:39books, taking care of all the animals.
- 0:42It's it's a often asked question.
- 0:44How do you find the time? And my answer is all pretty
- 0:47consistent. It's not that I find the time,
- 0:49it's that I make the time. It's very different from me.
- 0:52My concepts of time have always been somewhat different than
- 0:57most people around me because I look at it and I say, well, if
- 1:00the idea came into my mind and I really am compelled by it and
- 1:03I'm emotionally hooked to it, then I will find a way to make
- 1:06it happen. Because that's just the way it
- 1:10is. I will find a way to make it
- 1:11happen. So for me, when some, when I
- 1:15have to set something up, it's like I immediately look at my
- 1:18calendar and I'm like, OK, where can I put this in?
- 1:21What's the spot it's going to go into?
- 1:23I slot it in and I make time for it.
- 1:26Other things may go away and I have to, you know, act on those
- 1:32emotions. They're so high.
- 1:34So recently when I was talking about this with someone who is
- 1:38in the process of writing a book and not having enough time in
- 1:42their words to work on the book, I said, well, tell me on a scale
- 1:46of 1 to 10, how committed are you to writing the book?
- 1:50And there was this long pause and it was like, well, I really
- 1:52want the book done. I understand that.
- 1:54But how committed are you to it? Like what is that level of
- 1:58commitment? Are you at a 10?
- 2:00Because I will not go into doing something major like that,
- 2:04whether it's creating this coop and everything out here, the
- 2:07farm, everything that I do here, whatever it is, I'm consistently
- 2:11saying, is it a 10? Because if I'm not at A10, well,
- 2:15I should say it's really A9 or A10.
- 2:17I even, even if it's a nine, I will sit and ask myself what has
- 2:20to happen for this to be a 10? Because I'm going to need it to
- 2:23be that compelling. I'm going to need to be bought
- 2:25into it that much in order to do it.
- 2:27And if I'm at like an 8, seven or eight, let's say, I'm not
- 2:32going to commit to doing it at that point.
- 2:34I'm just not. That's why when I started the
- 2:36whole Chicken Coop podcast, I said I really wanted to do a
- 2:40podcast, but I wasn't sure of the concept.
- 2:42I wasn't sure the commitment was going to take, so I had to test
- 2:46it. So I said I'm going to do this
- 2:47for 30 days. If if you're new and you haven't
- 2:49heard this before, I'm doing it for 30 days and after 30 days,
- 2:53I'm going to see how I feel. I'm going to test it, but I'm
- 2:55going to commit to being consistent for 30 days.
- 2:58At the end of the 30 days, how do I feel?
- 3:00And at the end of the 30 days, I was really excited about it.
- 3:02I loved, first of all, I just love being out here with them.
- 3:05So it's another excuse to be out here.
- 3:06Second, it just felt so good to be able to, you know, see
- 3:11results from it and feel that I was getting to a spot where I
- 3:15could actually give, you know, this content to people and they
- 3:19could take it in their lives. And, and it was just, it was
- 3:23fun. It was just fun.
- 3:24So I made the time for it moving forward.
- 3:28I said this is a now a 10 or an 11.
- 3:30And I'm finding the same thing with the YouTube channel.
- 3:33I mean, it's been killing me because I got into the groove of
- 3:36shooting that I haven't really been able to shoot a lot because
- 3:39I can't stop coughing. So here I can hit pause, but on
- 3:42video it's kind of hard when you're hitting pause.
- 3:45Even here it's, it's, I've been a little wonky the last couple
- 3:48weeks because hitting pause in the middle of it, you lose your
- 3:50train of thought and it just throws you off.
- 3:53So I've had to really, even with the YouTube stuff, I've been
- 3:58like, no, I'm at, I'm at a, I'm an hour at a 12.
- 4:00I really want to make this work. I want to be able to help as
- 4:02many people as I possibly can, and I'm committed to it.
- 4:06So the question is, what is your level of commitment?
- 4:09Where are you with it? How high is it?
- 4:11What are you willing to commit to so that you can make sure you
- 4:14stay consistent And that you say, no, this is like, I am up
- 4:19there. This is about me making time for
- 4:22it, actually making time for it. That's what's so important.
- 4:26So I'm not going to go on and on about this today.
- 4:28I'm going to just say, hey, listen, what do you want to do
- 4:31in your life that you need to make time for that you're not
- 4:34making time for? What is it?
- 4:37Figure it out. Rate it on a scale of 1 to 10
- 4:40and just say I'm putting it in there.
- 4:42Undo it, rate it, get it up to A9 or A10 and put it in there.
- 4:46I promise you it makes all the difference in the world.
- 4:49All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow and I hope you
- 4:51have a blessed day. Bye.
