  a
• 1:03
  clean

  of

  pretense,
• 1:06
  envy
• 1:07
  and
• 1:07
  hurtful

• 1:10
  You've
• 1:10
  had
• 1:10
  a
• 1:10
  taste
• 1:11
  of
• 1:11
  God
• 1:11
  now,
• 1:12
  like
• 1:12
  infants
• 1:12
  at

  the

• 1:13
  drink
• 1:14

  God's

  pure

  kindness.
• 1:17
  Then
• 1:17
  you'll

  grow
• 1:18
  up
• 1:18
  mature
• 1:19
  and
• 1:19
  whole
• 1:21
  in
• 1:21
  God.
• 1:23
  Well,
• 1:23
  a
• 1:23
  really
• 1:25
  kind
• 1:25
  of
• 1:25
  a
• 1:25
  short
• 1:26
  and
• 1:26
  sweet
• 1:26
  and
• 1:27
  layered
• 1:27
  and
• 1:27
  powerful
• 1:29
  passage
• 1:29
  of
• 1:29
  Scripture
• 1:30
  for
• 1:30
  our
• 1:30
  reading
• 1:30
  for
• 1:31
  the
• 1:31
  day.
• 1:32
  So
• 1:32
  let's
• 1:32
  unpack
• 1:33
  it.
• 1:33
  Let's
• 1:33
  get
• 1:33
  into
• 1:33
  a
• 1:33
  couple
• 1:33
  points
• 1:34
  to
• 1:34
  ponder.
• 1:35
  First
• 1:36
  point
• 1:37
  to
• 1:37
  ponder
• 1:37
  is
• 1:37
  growth
• 1:38
  is
• 1:38
  the
• 1:39
  goal,
• 1:40
  not
• 1:41
  the
• 1:41
  arrival.
• 1:43
  Notice
• 1:43
  what
• 1:43
  Peter
• 1:44
  doesn't
• 1:45
  say.
• 1:46
  He
• 1:46
  doesn't
• 1:47
  say,
• 1:47
  now
• 1:47
  that
• 1:47
  you're
• 1:47
  saved,
• 1:48
  you're
• 1:48
  done,
• 1:49
  pick
• 1:50
  up
• 1:50
  your
• 1:50
  certificate
• 1:51
  at.
• 1:51
  The
• 1:51
  door
• 1:51
  and
• 1:51
  be
• 1:52
  on
• 1:52
  your
• 1:52
  way.
• 1:52
  No,
• 1:52
  he
• 1:53
  says,
• 1:54
  grow
• 1:54
  in
• 1:55
  your
• 1:55
  salvation.
• 1:57
  Salvation
• 1:57
  here
• 1:57
  is
• 1:58
  a
• 1:58
  journey,
• 1:58
  a
• 1:58
  becoming
• 1:59
  and
• 1:59
  not
• 1:59
  a
• 2:00
  transaction
• 2:00
  that
• 2:00
  gets
• 2:01
  stamped
• 2:01
  and
• 2:02
  filed
• 2:02
  away.
• 2:03
  And
• 2:04
  I
• 2:04
  love
• 2:04
  that
• 2:04
  because
• 2:04
  it
• 2:04
  kind
• 2:05
  of
• 2:05
  reframes
• 2:05
  the
• 2:06
  whole
• 2:06
  spiritual
• 2:06
  life.
• 2:06
  We're
• 2:07
  not
• 2:07
  trying
• 2:07
  to
• 2:07
  earn
• 2:07
  a
• 2:07
  gold
• 2:08
  star
• 2:08
  from
• 2:08
  God.
• 2:09
  We're
• 2:10
  being
• 2:10
  invited
• 2:10
  to
• 2:10
  grow
• 2:11
  slowly,
• 2:12
  gently,
• 2:12
  like
• 2:13
  a
• 2:13
  child.
• 2:15
  Now
• 2:15
  my
• 2:15
  wife
• 2:16
  and
• 2:16
  I,
• 2:16
  among
• 2:16
  the
• 2:16
  many
• 2:16
  things
• 2:17
  we
• 2:17
  like
• 2:17
  to
• 2:17
  do
• 2:17
  is
• 2:17
  hike
• 2:18
  at
• 2:18
  wooded
• 2:19
  parks.
• 2:20
  Especially
• 2:20
  when
• 2:20
  we
• 2:20
  go
• 2:20
  traveling.
• 2:21
  We
• 2:21
  travel
• 2:21
  out
• 2:21
  west
• 2:22
  quite
• 2:22
  a
• 2:22
  bit.
• 2:24
  And
• 2:24
  one
• 2:24
  thing
• 2:24
  you
• 2:24
  notice
• 2:25
  in
• 2:26
  like
• 2:26
  an
• 2:26
  old
• 2:26
  forest
• 2:27
  area
• 2:28
  is
• 2:29
  that
• 2:29
  you
• 2:29
  can't
• 2:29
  rush
• 2:30
  it.
• 2:31
  You
• 2:31
  just
• 2:31
  can't
• 2:32
  rush
• 2:32
  the
• 2:32
  growth
• 2:33
  of
• 2:33
  a
• 2:34
  200
• 2:34
  year
• 2:35
  old
• 2:35
  tree.
• 2:37
  Trees
• 2:37
  don't
• 2:38
  get
• 2:38
  tall
• 2:38
  overnight.
• 2:39
  They
• 2:39
  start
• 2:39
  as
• 2:40
  seedlings
• 2:40
  and
• 2:41
  saplings
• 2:41
  and
• 2:41
  grow
• 2:41
  from
• 2:42
  there.
• 2:43
  They
• 2:43
  grow
• 2:43
  through
• 2:44
  the
• 2:44
  seasons,
• 2:45
  weather,
• 2:46
  harsh,
• 2:47
  beautiful,
• 2:48
  everything
• 2:49
  in
• 2:49
  between.
• 2:50
  Your
• 2:51
  spiritual
• 2:51
  life
• 2:52
  is
• 2:52
  allowed
• 2:53
  to
• 2:53
  grow
• 2:53
  and
• 2:54
  to
• 2:54
  look
• 2:54
  like
• 2:54
  that
• 2:54
  as
• 2:55
  well.
• 2:56
  A
• 2:57
  progressive
• 2:57
  reading
• 2:57
  of
• 2:58
  this
• 2:58
  passage
• 2:58
  invites
• 2:59
  us
• 2:59
  to
• 2:59
  let
• 2:59
  go
• 2:59
  of
• 2:59
  the
• 3:00
  idea
• 3:00
  that
• 3:01
  faith
• 3:01
  is
• 3:01
  about
• 3:01
  having
• 3:01
  all
• 3:02
  the
• 3:02
  right
• 3:02
  answers
• 3:02
  all
• 3:03
  the
• 3:03
  time.
• 3:04
  Instead,
• 3:04
  it's
• 3:04
  about
• 3:04
  staying
• 3:05
  hungry,
• 3:07
  staying
• 3:07
  curious,
• 3:09
  and
• 3:09
  staying
• 3:10
  open
• 3:11
  to
• 3:12
  keep
• 3:12
  on
• 3:12
  growing.
• 3:15
  Point
• 3:15
  to
• 3:15
  ponder
• 3:16
  Number
• 3:16
  two
• 3:17
  what
• 3:17
  we
• 3:18
  crave
• 3:18
  shapes
• 3:19
  who
• 3:19
  we
• 3:19
  become.
• 3:22
  Peter
• 3:24
  lists
• 3:25
  some
• 3:25
  pretty
• 3:25
  ugly
• 3:26
  stuff
• 3:27
  in
• 3:28
  his
• 3:28
  teaching.
• 3:29
  Malice,
• 3:30
  deceit,
• 3:31
  hypocrisy,
• 3:32
  slander.
• 3:35
  And
• 3:35
  if
• 3:35
  we're
• 3:35
  honest,
• 3:36
  we
• 3:36
  don't
• 3:36
  usually
• 3:36
  plan
• 3:36
  to
• 3:37
  become
• 3:37
  those
• 3:37
  things.
• 3:38
  They
• 3:38
  sneak
• 3:38
  in
• 3:38
  through
• 3:40
  other
• 3:40
  ways
• 3:40
  in
• 3:40
  our
• 3:41
  life.
• 3:41
  What
• 3:42
  we
• 3:42
  consume,
• 3:43
  what
• 3:43
  we
• 3:43
  scroll,
• 3:45
  who
• 3:45
  we
• 3:45
  listen
• 3:46
  to,
• 3:46
  what
• 3:46
  grievances
• 3:47
  we
• 3:47
  keep
• 3:47
  feeding.
• 3:49
  And
• 3:50
  Peter's
• 3:50
  invitation
• 3:51
  is
• 3:51
  basically
• 3:51
  change
• 3:52
  your
• 3:52
  appetite.
• 3:54
  Crave
• 3:54
  something
• 3:55
  better.
• 3:55
  Crave
• 3:56
  goodness.
• 3:57
  Crave
• 3:58
  the
• 3:58
  kind
• 3:58
  of
• 3:58
  love
• 3:59
  that
• 3:59
  shows
• 3:59
  up
• 3:59
  for
• 3:59
  your
• 4:00
  neighbor,
• 4:01
  whether
• 4:01
  they
• 4:01
  vote
• 4:02
  like
• 4:02
  you
• 4:02
  or
• 4:02
  not.
• 4:04
  Crave
• 4:04
  a
• 4:04
  spirituality
• 4:05
  that
• 4:05
  makes
• 4:05
  you
• 4:05
  kinder,
• 4:07
  not
• 4:07
  more
• 4:07
  certain.
• 4:10
  Kind
• 4:10
  of
• 4:10
  think
• 4:10
  about
• 4:10
  this.
• 4:11
  And
• 4:11
  also
• 4:11
  in
• 4:12
  the
• 4:12
  framework
• 4:12
  of

  many

• 4:27
  and

  humor,

• 4:31
  Real
• 4:31
  things.
• 4:31
  Not
• 4:31
  the
• 4:32
  latest
• 4:32
  hot

  take.
• 4:34
  Not
• 4:34
  hypocrisy.
• 4:35
  The
• 4:35
  good

  stuff.
• 4:36
  And
• 4:37
  Peter
• 4:37
  says
• 4:37
  now
• 4:37
  that
• 4:38
  you
• 4:38
  have
• 4:38
  tasted
• 4:39
  that
• 4:39
  the
• 4:39
  Lord
• 4:39
  is
• 4:39
  good,
• 4:41
  think
• 4:41
  he's
• 4:41
  saying
• 4:42
  once
• 4:42
  you've

  had

  the

  real

  junk
• 4:45
  food
• 4:47
  won't
• 4:47
  do
• 4:47
  anymore.
• 4:48
  It
• 4:49
  just
• 4:49
  doesn't
• 4:49
  satisfy.
• 4:51
  Here's
• 4:51
  your
• 4:52
  action
• 4:52
  step.
• 4:54
  Do
• 4:54
  a
• 4:54
  24
• 4:55
  hour
• 4:55
  appetite
• 4:56
  audit.
• 4:57
  Just
• 4:58
  notice
• 4:58
  what
• 4:58
  you're
• 4:59
  feeding
• 4:59
  your
• 4:59
  soul,
