- 2:07Speaker 2: Names.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Now, before we get into this episode, I have to
- 2:10Speaker 1: ask you, Beatrice, do you have any takeaways? Like when
- 2:15Speaker 1: you when you turned it off okay and you took
- 2:17Speaker 1: your deep breaths, you struck your meditative pose and you
- 2:20Speaker 1: calmed down a little. Huh, what was your thought? What
- 2:23Speaker 1: was your late vibe?
- 2:26Speaker 2: My general vite? But this week was that I feel
- 2:29Speaker 2: like Robin is getting kind of tired of Cody. Like
- 2:32Speaker 2: their Valentine's Day date was super awkward, and she just
- 2:37Speaker 2: looked like she was not happy to be there. Maybe
- 2:40Speaker 2: she ran out of ambien, I don't know. Like she
- 2:43Speaker 2: was looking a little ragged, her hair was looking a
- 2:46Speaker 2: little old.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I did clock some grays.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, And I mean, I don't care like grays are cool.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm not shaman the grays. But I'm just like, Robin
- 2:56Speaker 2: is always super put together. Her hair is always turbo died,
- 3:00Speaker 2: her makeup is always turbo done. I'm not saying that
- 3:03Speaker 2: she looks pretty right.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It's not done well. None of it is done well.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I'm just saying it is done.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Up, put together. She's normally a little bit chipper in
- 3:11Speaker 2: her interactions with Cody. I know it's Robin, but I'm
- 3:16Speaker 2: just saying, like this Valdine's date eate, Like when he
- 3:18Speaker 2: gives her the jewelry, which we'll talk about later, she
- 3:21Speaker 2: just looked like things like mine.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, I guess I didn't really pick up on that.
- 3:30Speaker 2: That was my ebe.
- 3:31Speaker 1: That whole thing felt very scripted to me, but we
- 3:35Speaker 1: will talk about it when we get to that heart.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Very interesting. Interesting. Indeed, my major takeaway was that Janelle
- 3:45Speaker 1: she's one of us.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Oh.
- 3:46Speaker 1: When Janelle opened up her meals to call out Robin
- 3:52Speaker 1: as a Diesel jeans model, I'm like, does she watch
- 3:54Speaker 1: our podcast?
- 3:55Speaker 2: I know, does she watch.
- 3:57Speaker 1: This podcast too? I'm thank you for calling it out. Oh,
- 4:02Speaker 1: And then you had to think in your I thought
- 4:04Speaker 1: in my brain, in my small little pea raccoon brain,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, Robin's gonna watch this back,
- 4:09Speaker 1: oh for sure, and she's gonna hear that. And she
- 4:12Speaker 1: probably already knows that. All of us on the internets
- 4:16Speaker 1: we say that all the time about her and her
- 4:18Speaker 1: break dancing pussy as well. So I'm just wondering what
- 4:22Speaker 1: Robin is going to think hearing that. And for the record,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I do not believe that Robin ever modeled anything a
- 4:29Speaker 1: day in her life. Now correct me if I'm wrong,
- 4:31Speaker 1: because I'm frequently wrong. But I don't think she ever
- 4:34Speaker 1: was a Diesel jeans model. I don't think either. Maybe
- 4:37Speaker 1: she pair. I don't think she was.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Well, maybe she was, you know, like like you go
- 4:43Speaker 2: on like a crappy commercial, Like maybe she was like
- 4:45Speaker 2: one of those people were an extra on.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Maybe like at the mall one Sunday there was like
- 4:54Speaker 1: a fashion show in Utah, Utah, she was like wearing
- 5:01Speaker 1: some Diesel jean. There's just no way I think she
- 5:04Speaker 1: tried on some Diesel jeans. She came out of the
- 5:06Speaker 1: bedroom and she said, Chlody, do you like these? And
- 5:09Speaker 1: that's the extent of her modeling career.
- 5:11Speaker 2: There's just no way, no, no, there has to be
- 5:14Speaker 2: no way. And like we've all been talking about her
- 5:16Speaker 2: being a Diesel Jeans model, like Reddit has been saying
- 5:19Speaker 2: it too, Like so maybe Jane, Yeah it's a raccoon.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Maybe she's on the internet and she's listened to podcasts
- 5:27Speaker 2: like ours, which I would love. I do you know,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I do you know?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Sorry about everything, but Hi, we love you and we
- 5:33Speaker 1: dan we do stand you. I just thought that was
- 5:36Speaker 1: such a great comment. And I live, I breathe, I laugh,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I love I love it too, love it so much. Yeah, okay, well,
- 5:43Speaker 1: is there anything else that we want to talk about?
- 5:45Speaker 1: I know we want to talk about the jewelry at
- 5:48Speaker 1: the Valentine's dinner, but we'll do that during the scene
- 5:52Speaker 1: or maybe afterwards. Yeah, like maybe we'll do it like
- 5:54Speaker 1: a Patreon exclusive because I have some things to say.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I have some thought me too that and I do
- 5:59Speaker 1: want to dive in and we'll do it at the
- 6:01Speaker 1: back end.
- 6:01Speaker 2: At the end the show.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, Well let's get into this episode. We are
- 6:06Speaker 1: in season nineteen. This was episode twenty two. Yeah, sure,
- 6:10Speaker 1: due two twenty Two's in my Shoes, Holly if you
- 6:14Speaker 1: need me love, I'm in the house anyway. So what
- 6:17Speaker 1: was the name of this one?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Love covers all Wrongs. I don't know what that means.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Well, it is a scripture. I think the scripture reads
- 6:28Speaker 1: love covers the multitude of sins? Okay, And I'm wondering
- 6:32Speaker 1: what this might be in reference to. Is it in
- 6:34Speaker 1: reference to Cody and Robin's love covering the multitude of
- 6:39Speaker 1: their wrongs? Because somehow I don't think ew the producers
- 6:43Speaker 1: would do that, but their love is not pure.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Maybe it's Christine and David's love.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Oh maybe because she does talk about her confidence taking
- 6:53Speaker 1: a huge hit and how now basking in the love
- 6:58Speaker 1: of David Woolliet's changed her life. Maybe that's what it is. Maybe,
- 7:02Speaker 1: but we'll get into it. We will get into starts
- 7:04Speaker 1: off Beatrice.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Well, we started off strong with Mary and Janelle on
- 7:08Speaker 2: Coyote Pass talking about lawyering up and the division of
- 7:14Speaker 2: Coyote Pass. And this was a really interesting conversation. It
- 7:19Speaker 2: was really interesting to see Janelle and Mary talk about
- 7:22Speaker 2: this so candidly because they're kind of going into Cody
- 7:26Speaker 2: and Robin a little bit. And even Mary is speaking
- 7:29Speaker 2: up and talking about how unfair. It is that Cody
- 7:34Speaker 2: and Robin think that they can just get away with everything,
- 7:37Speaker 2: get away with the land, get away with all the
- 7:40Speaker 2: money that her and Janelle contributed to. Like, so it
- 7:46Speaker 2: was really interesting. What did you think about this whole conversation.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I thought there were many compelling facets from the actual
- 7:54Speaker 1: contribution for Coyote Pass, the spiritual release slash divorce conversation
- 8:00Speaker 1: about Janelle and Mary and their relationship. Like, I thought
- 8:03Speaker 1: that there were some really cool moments. But I just
- 8:07Speaker 1: loved that they were getting in the ass of Cody
- 8:09Speaker 1: and Robin because they did contribute to that property, of course,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and it was the last Thanksgiving. We've got Mary coming
- 8:19Speaker 1: over with her final check presumably to pay for her
- 8:22Speaker 1: quarter of all this property, and so them bitching about
- 8:27Speaker 1: Cody not answering them, like not just having the decency,
- 8:31Speaker 1: And I think Janelle refers to this as just regular
- 8:34Speaker 1: regular human decency to just respond or to just let
- 8:38Speaker 1: us know what's going on, because we're trying to cut
- 8:40Speaker 1: cords here, we're trying to get what is ours, and
- 8:43Speaker 1: you won't even talk to us. I was just like, ooh,
- 8:47Speaker 1: And then when they cut to Cody and Cody said
- 8:49Speaker 1: something like, we actually paid one hundred and sixty thousand
- 8:53Speaker 1: dollars more than they did. I was like, that's because
- 8:56Speaker 1: you are the owner of more than fifty percent at
- 9:00Speaker 1: the time. That's because you both are a couple. Yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 1: so of course for your shares, you're gonna be paying more.
- 9:06Speaker 2: What do you mean, of course? But even then, I'm like,
- 9:08Speaker 2: you're paying that with the family money, which was contributed
- 9:14Speaker 2: by TLC and Janelle and Mary's paychecks and probably Christine's too.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Christine probably was putting into that post absolutely, but then
- 9:22Speaker 2: when she divorced from Cody, she was like, I don't
- 9:24Speaker 2: even care. I just want to be done and clear
- 9:27Speaker 2: of all of my ties to you because dealing with
- 9:29Speaker 2: financial stuff, she says later in the episode, sucks. Dealing
- 9:33Speaker 2: with Cody with finances sucks. So it was really interesting
- 9:36Speaker 2: this whole thing. And like Janelle said, the only reason
- 9:39Speaker 2: why she got a lawyer was because Cody was not
- 9:42Speaker 2: responding to emails, and Mary same thing. She's like, my
- 9:45Speaker 2: communication is null, Like I don't get to talk to Cody,
- 9:48Speaker 2: he doesn't respond to me. He's not telling me what
- 9:51Speaker 2: we're doing with any of this, And Cody panned to
- 9:54Speaker 2: him His justification for this is, well, I just don't
- 9:57Speaker 2: know what to do. I'm not responding because I don't
- 9:59Speaker 2: know what. I don't know, you know what to do.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I'm like, be a grown up, dude. You have your
- 10:03Speaker 2: name on all of these plots. These women are trying
- 10:06Speaker 2: to get out. They're leaving your ass because you don't
- 10:08Speaker 2: want them anyway.
- 10:09Speaker 1: M hm.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And they want to get out and that's fair. But
- 10:12Speaker 2: Cody's like, I don't know what to do. Jane feels
- 10:15Speaker 2: like she's owed something because she's divorcing me.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's how divorce works. Hello, you walk away
- 10:22Speaker 1: from the marriage and you're entitled to your share of
- 10:25Speaker 1: whatever you have built in that marriage. So Janelle absolutely
- 10:29Speaker 1: has the right to have an expectation to receive fairly
- 10:33Speaker 1: what she put into this. Yes, but like the way
- 10:35Speaker 1: that he frames it and when he says I think
- 10:37Speaker 1: something along the lines of like, Robin is the one
- 10:40Speaker 1: who's not ready yet to sell Coyote Pass, and I'm
- 10:43Speaker 1: just not going to let these women rush Robin, Like,
- 10:46Speaker 1: when she's ready, we will sell. I'm like, I'm sorry, sir,
- 10:50Speaker 1: but I can acquire an attorney and we can put
- 10:53Speaker 1: this in front of a judge and we can compel
- 10:55Speaker 1: you to sail. Yeah, because I'm a part owner. So
- 10:58Speaker 1: it's just like a power it's a constant power play.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And he likes to pretend that he doesn't want these
- 11:04Speaker 1: women anyway, although he changes his tune at the end
- 11:07Speaker 1: of this episode and that was interesting. But he likes
- 11:09Speaker 1: to pretend that he doesn't want these women anyway. But
- 11:12Speaker 1: the reality is, is he so turbo butt hurt that
- 11:16Speaker 1: they have the audacity, especially Janelle, to walk away from him,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and so he's just going to make it as painful
- 11:22Speaker 1: as possible. Oh of course, hold on all right, back
- 11:26Speaker 1: from Uncensored, my whole spin came and brought me a
- 11:29Speaker 1: very tall alcoholic beverage. So we'll see how I last tonight,
- 11:33Speaker 1: was I saying, was I talking most talking about Coney? Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 1: being turbo butt her? Yes, because these women had the
- 11:38Speaker 1: audacity to leave him, and so he's doing a power
- 11:43Speaker 1: play and making it as hard as he can.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And even Janelle calls that out. She says that she
- 11:47Speaker 2: thinks his ego is hurt by all of this and
- 11:50Speaker 2: that's why he's acting like a big baby. Mary is
- 11:53Speaker 2: like straight up mad. She's in her angry phase. Of like,
- 11:56Speaker 2: why does it even have to be this way? Like Mary,
- 11:59Speaker 2: even so in this conversation, she's like, I really thought
- 12:02Speaker 2: that Cody was going to be better about this, which
- 12:05Speaker 2: is kind of sad that she even thinks that, because
- 12:08Speaker 2: it shows Mary's loyalty and it shows her faith in
- 12:13Speaker 2: Cody as like being a good person. And it's sad
- 12:17Speaker 2: that she thinks that because we're all sitting here screaming
- 12:19Speaker 2: into the void about how Cody's demon possessed.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Right and awful. And it was just a few months
- 12:25Speaker 1: previous to this that he's clutching on to her, he's
- 12:28Speaker 1: depositing her in pariwan Utah after driving her uhau and crying,
- 12:34Speaker 1: sobbing about the end of an era. And so she
- 12:37Speaker 1: thought I think she definitely thought that they could be
- 12:40Speaker 1: friends and that they could conduct themselves like with integrity.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But as soon as he got back to Flagstaff, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: think he ghosted her and he never ever wanted to
- 12:48Speaker 1: talk to her again. And then of course there was
- 12:51Speaker 1: the crushing shame that came along with the spiritual release
- 12:55Speaker 1: and the determination that he abandoned Mary, like he can't
- 13:00Speaker 1: I cannot handle that, he can't handle any of this
- 13:05Speaker 1: that's why he's not responding to any of their emails
- 13:07Speaker 1: or messages, because he just doesn't want to deal with it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It's not that he doesn't know what to do, he
- 13:11Speaker 1: just wants to avoid it and wants to act like
- 13:15Speaker 1: it never happened. And like, Janelle is really cool here
- 13:18Speaker 1: because she is advocating for not only herself but for Mary,
- 13:21Speaker 1: and she's expressing to Mary over and over again in
- 13:24Speaker 1: this conversation that she feels so bad for Mary being
- 13:28Speaker 1: on a third of one plot, like she doesn't even
- 13:31Speaker 1: have her name on a full plot, and that sucks
- 13:33Speaker 1: because she's in kind of the worst position here. Janelle's
- 13:36Speaker 1: not in a good position either, but she's in a
- 13:38Speaker 1: better position.
- 13:39Speaker 2: She is.
- 13:40Speaker 1: She doesn't really have to help Mary, but she's doing it.
- 13:44Speaker 1: And if they join forces together, they can really compel
- 13:48Speaker 1: them to give them something that's fair. But like without
- 13:50Speaker 1: each other, they really don't stand that kind of a chance.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Probably it'll be harder and they would have to have
- 13:55Speaker 1: attorneys and they'd have to litigate the heck out of this.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yep. And this is also where we hear from Janelle
- 14:01Speaker 2: that Cody's always been like this and she should have
- 14:05Speaker 2: saw it coming. She should have seen this whole situation
- 14:08Speaker 2: coming and she didn't. And Mary advocates and is like, well,
- 14:11Speaker 2: you know, you can say you're naive, but like, we
- 14:13Speaker 2: actually thought Cody was going to be a good guy.
- 14:16Speaker 2: We thought that he cared about the whole family, and
- 14:19Speaker 2: it turns out he didn't. And then Janelle tells an
- 14:21Speaker 2: interesting story about how she had to pay off all
- 14:25Speaker 2: of her debt on her own and this debt is
- 14:28Speaker 2: what she took out to actually take care and support.
- 14:32Speaker 1: The family in Lehigh.
- 14:34Speaker 2: And then I guess when Robin sold her house in
- 14:37Speaker 2: Vegas or no, when she had her house in Vegas
- 14:40Speaker 2: or was it the house here in Flagstaff.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I think it was the house in Vegas that Cody
- 14:45Speaker 1: was talking about, like the proceeds of that sale went
- 14:49Speaker 1: toward family debt.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Right, which I'm like, I don't. I don't believe that.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I think it went to Robin's dead. I don't think
- 14:55Speaker 2: it went to family debt. And then Janelle talked about
- 14:59Speaker 2: wanting to be on the indeed for one of Robin's houses.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I think it was maybe the flag Staff house.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It's the first manage mansion, it's the McMansion.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And Cody said no because Robin needs her estate.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Right, and Janelle should have said in that moment, well,
- 15:13Speaker 1: I don't have an estate. I have nothing. I just
- 15:15Speaker 1: sold my house and I just gave you the proceeds
- 15:18Speaker 1: of that sale so that Robin could have this McMansion.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So if you put my name, in Mary's name, in
- 15:22Speaker 1: Robin's name on this house, then we all have part
- 15:24Speaker 1: of that estate.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yep.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Like, there were so many critical points in the process
- 15:29Speaker 1: over the years where they should have said something. I
- 15:31Speaker 1: thought it was very fascinating that Mary claims to have
- 15:35Speaker 1: said something and asked questions about like why are you
- 15:38Speaker 1: putting your name on all of the plots or why
- 15:40Speaker 1: are we doing it this way? And when she said
- 15:42Speaker 1: something like that, she got some pushback from a couple
- 15:46Speaker 1: of people in the family.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, she said, she got in trouble.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Yeah, she said she's so from who So obviously Cody.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Of course, Cody would not look like that, and I
- 15:55Speaker 1: imagine Robin would be the other person.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Oh for sure. But I feel like Robin probably wasn't
- 15:59Speaker 2: like outwardly mad, but she manipulated it and twisted it
- 16:04Speaker 2: into this situation of like, no, you're not being fair
- 16:07Speaker 2: you're not being a team player, because I think Janelle
- 16:09Speaker 2: mentions that too, Like any time they ever had any
- 16:12Speaker 2: kind of pushback about these weird financial decisions that they
- 16:15Speaker 2: were making, you know, Cody would say, you're not being
- 16:18Speaker 2: a team player, right, basically, shut up and stop dissenting because.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We're going to do it my way and I'm the patriarch.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I actually wondered in that moment if the person who
- 16:27Speaker 1: like gave some resistance to Mary was Janelle, because Janelle
- 16:31Speaker 1: said something in that conversation like, yeah, you know, we
- 16:35Speaker 1: just kind of had to fall into line or something
- 16:37Speaker 1: like that, like we couldn't be really loud about it,
- 16:39Speaker 1: we couldn't really make a fuss about it. I'm like, hmm,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'm wondering if Mary's calling you out a little bit.
- 16:44Speaker 1: But I just can't I don't know, I just can't
- 16:46Speaker 1: imagine that Janelle, with all of her financial acumen, would
- 16:51Speaker 1: have a problem with Mary saying can we get some transparency?
- 16:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 16:54Speaker 1: Can we figure out a strategy? Like why are we
- 16:56Speaker 1: doing it this way? I don't understand, and I have
- 16:58Speaker 1: every right to since I am paying in that eminently
- 17:00Speaker 1: reasonable yep, But if it wasn't Janelle then it was
- 17:04Speaker 1: Robin and Cody, Oh that gave Mary a hard time,
- 17:07Speaker 1: which is just wild to me. So Mary's being bullied
- 17:10Speaker 1: during this time, being bullied to hand over money. So
- 17:13Speaker 1: is Janelle, And what does she get for doing all that?
- 17:16Speaker 1: She gets ghosted and flag staff during a global pandemic
- 17:20Speaker 1: and has nobody, no one, not a one.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Not a one. And then when they're trying to divide
- 17:26Speaker 2: Coyote Pass fairly and equally, they're not getting any communication
- 17:30Speaker 2: from Cody or Robin. And then Cody's telling the cameras
- 17:33Speaker 2: that Robin doesn't want to sell, so we can't rush
- 17:36Speaker 2: it because apparently what Robin dictates poor little questions. And
- 17:41Speaker 2: that's the thing, like, that's what Cody's telling on himself
- 17:43Speaker 2: and telling on Robin here. When he's saying that, it's like, okay,
- 17:47Speaker 2: so now we know, yeah, all you care about is Robin.
- 17:50Speaker 2: And Cody even says something crazy like you know, when
- 17:53Speaker 2: he's talking about Janelle being entitled to something, He's like, well,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I don't have an estate. My only estate is Robin's estate,
- 18:01Speaker 2: Like okay, got it.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're tied to that, right, and you're trying
- 18:06Speaker 1: to say you don't have anything, but I just love
- 18:09Speaker 1: After we have this whole conversation and then they pan
- 18:12Speaker 1: over to them with Ariella's vanity and Earl the crap
- 18:16Speaker 1: in their house after he's talking about how he doesn't
- 18:19Speaker 1: have anything, and it's all really Robin's I'm just like,
- 18:21Speaker 1: oh my god, all the artwork, all the statues, all
- 18:24Speaker 1: the crystals, all the things, it is. It is wild.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It's crazy. Yes.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And also I'm sorry, no, go ahead jumping on you,
- 18:33Speaker 1: but him saying the line again and I'm just repeating myself,
- 18:37Speaker 1: but the audacity to say, like, I mean, Janelle expects
- 18:41Speaker 1: something after thirty years of marriage, she expects to walk
- 18:44Speaker 1: away with something when you're the one who walked away
- 18:47Speaker 1: when we all know, Cody you pushed these women away,
- 18:50Speaker 1: of course you did. But you're singling out Janelle here
- 18:54Speaker 1: because again, Janelle is the one that got away.
- 18:57Speaker 2: For Cody, definitely. And also she was the one that
- 18:59Speaker 2: he I think pressured a lot more into financial stuff,
- 19:03Speaker 2: like if she had to take on what probably thousands
- 19:07Speaker 2: upon thousands of dollars of debt just to support the family,
- 19:09Speaker 2: because maybe nobody else was willing to do that, who knows,
- 19:12Speaker 2: Like that's crazy. Yeah, she's entitled to one parcel, like
- 19:18Speaker 2: we even entitled so much more of course, of course,
- 19:22Speaker 2: but like in the respect of Coyote Pass, like she's
- 19:25Speaker 2: entitled to it.
- 19:27Speaker 1: She's not asking for a lot, No.
- 19:29Speaker 2: She's just entre She's just asking for her fair share.
- 19:31Speaker 2: And like we even Panna Christine being like, I'm so
- 19:34Speaker 2: glad I'm out of Coyote Pass, Like I really hope
- 19:36Speaker 2: they will divide it equally four ways. But if I
- 19:40Speaker 2: know Cody, like, it's not going to happen that way.
- 19:42Speaker 2: And we know because we've seen how the parcels were
- 19:45Speaker 2: kind of divided up. It wasn't really divided up like
- 19:49Speaker 2: we all thought it would be. People's names got switched
- 19:52Speaker 2: on to it. Whatever. I don't know how they divided
- 19:54Speaker 2: the proceeds from the one point five million dollars sale
- 19:56Speaker 2: of all of it, but hopefully everybody got their fair
- 19:59Speaker 2: share and they're done and over with it and cut
- 20:01Speaker 2: off their ties. What did you think about the whole
- 20:04Speaker 2: spiritual divorce conversation.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I loved this because on the one hand, we have
- 20:10Speaker 1: Janelle doing Mary a solid by aligning herself for their
- 20:15Speaker 1: financial interests, aligning themselves together, and then it's not really
- 20:20Speaker 1: a quid pro quo. Mary's not doing this for Janelle
- 20:24Speaker 1: because she owes her anything, but I loved seeing her say, well,
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'll show up for you. And they have the conversation
- 20:30Speaker 1: about the spiritual release, and we start by Mary saying
- 20:32Speaker 1: something like, yeah, oh God. Godi was really upset about that.
- 20:35Speaker 1: He didn't like how that went down, so they talked
- 20:38Speaker 1: about it a little. But then we kind of got
- 20:40Speaker 1: into Janelle's present faith and how she feels about a
- 20:46Speaker 1: spiritual release, and she makes it very clear that she's
- 20:49Speaker 1: not in the same situation as Christine. Now, Christine by
- 20:52Speaker 1: this point has abandoned her faith. I don't know about
- 20:55Speaker 1: her LDS, her Mormonism, her mainstream general stuff, but certainly
- 20:58Speaker 1: the AUB she's no longer a part of that. But
- 21:02Speaker 1: she did not feel the need to get a spiritual release.
- 21:04Speaker 1: She's like, I'm not married to this man. Legally I
- 21:06Speaker 1: can move on and I have no problem with that.
- 21:08Speaker 1: But Janelle is saying that she actually is still part
- 21:11Speaker 1: of the Face and she still does believe in their
- 21:15Speaker 1: doctrines and their tenants, and in the future, if she
- 21:18Speaker 1: meets somebody, presumably someone who aligns with her faith, like
- 21:21Speaker 1: is she going to feel like, well, I've got this
- 21:24Speaker 1: other marriage, this spiritual marriage, kind of hanging over my head,
- 21:26Speaker 1: so do I want to get it? So the conversation
- 21:29Speaker 1: that ensues from that, I thought was really cool to
- 21:32Speaker 1: see these women who have been through so much life
- 21:35Speaker 1: together and had ups and they had a lot of downs.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but Mary saying like, oh, I'll go with you. Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 1: we can do it together, and that was so awesome,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you know, and we can have a separate conversation like
- 21:46Speaker 1: not on camera, where I can tell you what is
- 21:49Speaker 1: involved and you can make the decision. So I just
- 21:51Speaker 1: thought that was really wonderful personally, really.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Cool, and I liked how Mary was still like validating
- 21:57Speaker 2: the spiritual part of it, like telling Janelle like, well,
- 22:00Speaker 2: you were married that way for thirty years and so
- 22:04Speaker 2: it is valid, and like, if you want to get
- 22:06Speaker 2: the spiritual release, freaking do it so that way you
- 22:08Speaker 2: have no more ties to Cody at all. And I
- 22:10Speaker 2: think that is what appeals to Janelle ultimately, because prior
- 22:14Speaker 2: to this, she was like kind of like I don't
- 22:16Speaker 2: really care, Like I'm done with Cody, I've already left.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I'm in North Carolina now, Like it doesn't matter. But
- 22:22Speaker 2: in this conversation, Janelle starts being like, yeah, you know what,
- 22:25Speaker 2: like I don't want any more ties, not even a
- 22:28Speaker 2: spiritual one, and she brings up God and she's like, well,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I don't want to upset God either if I'm like
- 22:33Speaker 2: still spiritually tied to him. I think she says something
- 22:36Speaker 2: like I believe in everything in my faith except for polygamy,
- 22:39Speaker 2: Like she no longer believes in that anymore, which was
- 22:41Speaker 2: kind of interesting.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I see her going back to just mainstream LDS yep
- 22:47Speaker 1: and just being a regular, regular, more Mormon, but the
- 22:50Speaker 1: faith is still very important to her. And I really
- 22:53Speaker 1: appreciated the conversation about the afterlife. Yeah, and like what happens.
- 22:57Speaker 1: And Mary was still so charitable because she talks about
- 23:01Speaker 1: Cody not wanting to be tied to her in the afterlife,
- 23:04Speaker 1: and so she wants to make sure he doesn't have
- 23:06Speaker 1: to be. But at the same time, she does not
- 23:08Speaker 1: want to be tied to that man either. And at
- 23:11Speaker 1: this time, the time of this filming, Mary is dreaming
- 23:14Speaker 1: of the next chapter, the next romance, the next person,
- 23:16Speaker 1: and she wants that very much for herself. So she
- 23:19Speaker 1: just wants to clean this late and she wants to
- 23:21Speaker 1: set up her life in the physical and also in
- 23:24Speaker 1: the eternal, which is such a cool little snapshot into
- 23:27Speaker 1: Mormonism for those of us who are not part of
- 23:29Speaker 1: the religion totally.
- 23:31Speaker 2: And I do like the subtle, like passive aggressiveness of
- 23:35Speaker 2: getting the spiritual divorce because Cody doesn't really subscribe to
- 23:38Speaker 2: as church anymore, doesn't really care.
- 23:40Speaker 1: About babe too, sometimes only.
- 23:43Speaker 2: When it's convenient, right, but like it's I feel like
- 23:47Speaker 2: they like the idea of the spiritual divorce too, because
- 23:49Speaker 2: it requires the church leaders calling up Cody and being like, yeah,
- 23:53Speaker 2: you abandoned Mary. We're giving her the divorce on the
- 23:55Speaker 2: grounds of abandonment, which hang up.
- 23:58Speaker 1: He is still piss Even at the time of the
- 24:02Speaker 1: filming of his interstitials, which I imagine is probably over a
- 24:05Speaker 1: year after the fact, he's still mad about it, and
- 24:08Speaker 1: he tells us on the couch, He's like, well, you know, essentially,
- 24:12Speaker 1: Mary's lucky I didn't show up and you know, testify
- 24:15Speaker 1: as to why this marriage broke down, because if I did,
- 24:18Speaker 1: they wouldn't have been able to give her the spiritual release.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Like okay, Cody, whatever, So what is.
- 24:24Speaker 2: It you wanted? To be involved, so that way they
- 24:28Speaker 2: didn't say that you abandon your wives because you hate
- 24:30Speaker 2: the word abandonment. Or is it that they would just
- 24:34Speaker 2: not grant the release, like he's trying to say, if
- 24:36Speaker 2: you're a man in the church, they won't grant your release,
- 24:39Speaker 2: but a woman can go to the church leader and
- 24:41Speaker 2: they'll give her a release no matter what.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't he's trying to say, like if I
- 24:46Speaker 1: told them all the things Mary actually did to me,
- 24:49Speaker 1: they wouldn't grant her the release. I'm sorry, I don't
- 24:52Speaker 1: think so. The fact that she's asking for it sounds
- 24:54Speaker 1: like all she that's all she needs to do, and
- 24:56Speaker 1: she's going to get it. You're just bitter and unhappy
- 24:59Speaker 1: because you got called out in your religion. And that's
- 25:01Speaker 1: the only reason you're no longer a part of that
- 25:03Speaker 1: religion is because they called you out and they said
- 25:05Speaker 1: you abandon these women. If they were still holding you
- 25:07Speaker 1: up as some kind of a polygamous prize, you would
- 25:10Speaker 1: still be aligned with that religion. It's all about your narcissism, yeah,
- 25:14Speaker 1: and your ego.
- 25:15Speaker 2: And he can't handle failure, like he's been a failure
- 25:18Speaker 2: as a husband. He's been a failure as a father,
- 25:21Speaker 2: he's a failure as a polygonist, like, as a business person,
- 25:24Speaker 2: as a perspider, yep, as a guy with hair, like.
- 25:27Speaker 1: He's a failure on every level.
- 25:30Speaker 2: So you just can't handle it. So that's why he's
- 25:33Speaker 2: pissed off about it. But I love it. I'm like
- 25:35Speaker 2: wallow in it. I don't care.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I don't know. Just to me, it seems like it
- 25:39Speaker 1: would be so easy to be like, yeah, I got
- 25:41Speaker 1: really bad at the end. Yeah, again, I didn't want
- 25:43Speaker 1: to see any of these women and I was happy
- 25:46Speaker 1: to just spend time with Robin. Obviously, I am more
- 25:50Speaker 1: inclined to monogamy at this stage in my life, and
- 25:53Speaker 1: I could have been a better husband, And yeah I
- 25:55Speaker 1: did abandon her, Like how hard would that be to
- 25:57Speaker 1: just tell the truth? Why are you still trying to
- 26:00Speaker 1: lie and put on airs because you can't handle it?
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like, is it because he
- 26:06Speaker 1: can't handle it like internally or is it because he
- 26:09Speaker 1: doesn't want to appear that way to us we already
- 26:12Speaker 1: see you though?
- 26:13Speaker 2: Well yeah, but I think it's both. Like if he's
- 26:15Speaker 2: a true narcissist, like narcissism is a giant cope of
- 26:19Speaker 2: like you can't deal with shame, you can't be a failure,
- 26:22Speaker 2: and so you overinflate your ego for everybody else. Like
- 26:25Speaker 2: he puts on this air for everyone else that he's
- 26:27Speaker 2: this rich guy, he still has hair, he's a good husband,
- 26:31Speaker 2: he's a good dad. But we all know the truth
- 26:34Speaker 2: and it's just a giant cope. So like I think
- 26:36Speaker 2: he can't deal with it inside and he's putting on
- 26:39Speaker 2: ears for everybody else.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Okay, but it's like it's sad. It's got to be
- 26:43Speaker 1: a sad way to live.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Seriously, it's pathetic.
- 26:45Speaker 1: It'd be so much easier to just tell the truth.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And like there's so much power in like owning your mistakes, right,
- 26:51Speaker 1: your failures. Yeah, like that's the phoenix rising from the
- 26:54Speaker 1: ashes ironically. Seriously, Yeah, same thing.
- 26:58Speaker 2: With Rob And it's like if you just told the truth.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Just can't yeah, because she can't be the villain, even
- 27:03Speaker 2: though we all know she is the villain.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And in her attempts to try and appear as not
- 27:08Speaker 1: the villain, she embeds herself even more as the villain.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Like when we get to the conversation when they go
- 27:13Speaker 1: out to dinner and we talk about Aspen and the
- 27:16Speaker 1: way she's just editing, the way that Cody's talking, and
- 27:18Speaker 1: I'm just like, don't even get me started. Okay, we'll
- 27:20Speaker 1: get there when we get there, but I'm just like,
- 27:22Speaker 1: she's the villain. She is one villain evil yeap. And
- 27:25Speaker 1: then we pan over to like this weird little segment
- 27:28Speaker 1: for Valentine's Day with Christine and her girls Aspen and Mchelty.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I am a broken record and so I don't want
- 27:36Speaker 1: to visit upon you. Just my absolute rejection of Mchelte.
- 27:40Speaker 1: She was so annoying in entirety. But I'm just like,
- 27:44Speaker 1: here we go again with this weird energy, just grasping
- 27:49Speaker 1: for the limelight, grasping for a moment. It is so
- 27:53Speaker 1: uncomfortable to me. I'm truly in this moment. I'm like
- 27:55Speaker 1: me too. Bye, I'm going back to my room. Y'all
- 27:57Speaker 1: do whatever you want to do with your sexy dancing.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And we had to go back to the lap dance.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I know why I had to go back. We have
- 28:03Speaker 1: to go back to I don't know why why Christine
- 28:08Speaker 1: to be a sexual being. I love that she's getting
- 28:10Speaker 1: loved down by David Wily, but do we really need
- 28:13Speaker 1: her to pan to mind a strip teas trying on
- 28:15Speaker 1: a red dread. Do we really need to harken back
- 28:17Speaker 1: to the wedding and the lap dance?
- 28:19Speaker 2: No, we do not know.
- 28:20Speaker 1: This is a completely superfluous, unnecessary segment, and it's like.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Low key inappropriate because truly's there and she's freaking fourteen,
- 28:29Speaker 2: and she's.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Like, please don't, like, could you not? Though?
- 28:31Speaker 2: We don't need to talk about mom being sexy in
- 28:33Speaker 2: front of me? Like that's gross. Like it's one thing
- 28:35Speaker 2: with Mikeltine Aspen, who are grown adults like they have
- 28:38Speaker 2: their own children, it's another with Truly right there. And
- 28:40Speaker 2: then Christine makes a comment about Truly already has to
- 28:44Speaker 2: live with newlyweds and she doesn't like it very much,
- 28:46Speaker 2: which I'm like, does that mean because you're banging a lot?
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:50Speaker 1: Probably that's gross when you're probably kissing and you're very
- 28:52Speaker 1: demonstrative and affectionate, and that's okay, certainly, Sure, it's okay
- 28:57Speaker 1: in moderation, let's say, but like, is she hearing stuff?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Probably no, And that's what makes me mad about it.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I've talked about it before on the.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Podcast You have pis it does it's inappropriate, but like
- 29:09Speaker 1: michelt walked in with that energy. It's just like talking
- 29:12Speaker 1: about Aspen's plans for later in the day. I just like,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you're gonna have sex and what are you doing? Kelthy?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Just be a normal person. You don't have to fill
- 29:21Speaker 1: every moment with your words and with your energy. Just like,
- 29:24Speaker 1: back off the Aspen in this.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Moment, I know, just chill out.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Why it down. I can't stand her and even Christine,
- 29:30Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Aspen's Hair's just always too much. These
- 29:35Speaker 1: people are too much.
- 29:36Speaker 2: This is where Michelta gets it from. Yeah, I mean
- 29:38Speaker 2: low key.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I mean, this is why we talk about person.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Christine being kind of annoying. It's because m Chelty is annoying.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Like they feed off of each other and like they're
- 29:48Speaker 2: obviously best friends and that's great, but like I don't
- 29:50Speaker 2: need to see Michelty.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I don't need to see it either. It's like Christine,
- 29:53Speaker 1: Peyden and Michelty are all very similar personality wise, and
- 29:57Speaker 1: you've got Aspen and Gwendolen and then you have Aspen,
- 30:01Speaker 1: Isabelle and Truly who are just like trying to be
- 30:04Speaker 1: like in the background, like just please don't look at me,
- 30:06Speaker 1: don't personally refer to me. I don't want to be
- 30:08Speaker 1: in this.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Shot, yep, and that's me.
- 30:10Speaker 1: That's me in that moment as well. I don't need this.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Don't look at me.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So Christine's really excited because it's the first Valentine's Day
- 30:17Speaker 1: celebration since they got married. Well, they're going to be
- 30:20Speaker 1: going out, so she's called her daughters over, both of
- 30:22Speaker 1: whom have such beautiful hair at goals for real, just
- 30:27Speaker 1: and you know, objectively. Aspen and Michelty are both beautiful
- 30:31Speaker 1: young ladies. Yes, totally and the pride I'm sure of
- 30:35Speaker 1: Christine their mother. But she's called them over so that
- 30:37Speaker 1: she can try on dresses and produce content for the show.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And it is c ringe for real. I'm just like,
- 30:46Speaker 1: oh God.
- 30:46Speaker 2: And then she picks like a red numbers off the
- 30:48Speaker 2: shoulders so she can show her titty tattoo. And then
- 30:51Speaker 2: she goes to dinner with David and with like a
- 30:55Speaker 2: place near a fireplace or something. I don't know. It
- 30:58Speaker 2: looks lovely, looks great.
- 30:59Speaker 1: They have alcohol, which is interesting, and she has more
- 31:03Speaker 1: than one drink, which I love for her because here
- 31:05Speaker 1: I am having a beverage as well. What I loved
- 31:07Speaker 1: about this was not a lot. But what I did
- 31:10Speaker 1: love about this was having Christine given a moment to
- 31:15Speaker 1: talk once again about how her marriage to Cody affected
- 31:20Speaker 1: her and how him telling her that he was not
- 31:23Speaker 1: attracted to her, not just in the last few years,
- 31:26Speaker 1: not just in the last decade, but on the day
- 31:29Speaker 1: of my cat's Keene Saniera and our wedding. I was
- 31:32Speaker 1: not attracted to you. I have never been attracted to you,
- 31:34Speaker 1: even though I was able to get my dick card
- 31:36Speaker 1: and give you I don't know six children if you have,
- 31:39Speaker 1: but I was never attracted to you. And like, what
- 31:42Speaker 1: a toll that took on her emotionally as a woman,
- 31:47Speaker 1: and how that hurt her so much, And then we
- 31:48Speaker 1: get that flash back to the Mormon conference room where
- 31:53Speaker 1: she's telling him that they are going to be divorcing
- 31:57Speaker 1: and they're hashing it out, and I just felt, once again,
- 32:01Speaker 1: just really bad for her. I can't of even imagine
- 32:05Speaker 1: not having a husband who's obsessed with me, obsessed with
- 32:09Speaker 1: every curve that I have, and I have so many,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and my husband loves every bit of it.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Hoodie. I can't imagine living in a world where I'm
- 32:17Speaker 3: not being adored sexually and in every way by my husband,
- 32:22Speaker 3: like truly though I feel bad, and he's so glad
- 32:25Speaker 3: that she's found David.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Will And honestly, I thought it was really cool how
- 32:30Speaker 2: she talked about it, like how her confidence took a
- 32:33Speaker 2: plummet and then she really had to work on herself
- 32:35Speaker 2: before she even thought about dating again. And now you
- 32:38Speaker 2: see her. I know, I'm like, you literally dated David
- 32:41Speaker 2: Willie like two seconds.
- 32:42Speaker 1: After Yeah, but okay, whatever.
- 32:44Speaker 2: But at the same time, it's cool that she was
- 32:47Speaker 2: able to do that inner work allegedly and like, you know,
- 32:52Speaker 2: move on and get with a guy who literally says
- 32:54Speaker 2: at the dinner table on their date, like you're so
- 32:57Speaker 2: very hot. So that's lovely bad for her and she
- 33:01Speaker 2: deserves that. Like no matter how annoying she is, I
- 33:03Speaker 2: really am happy for her and all of the lap dances.
- 33:06Speaker 1: That she gives to And I never want to see that.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I just never want to see it.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Well, and watching their scenes had me questioning whether they
- 33:14Speaker 1: could really support a show just themselves. Yeah, any maybe
- 33:21Speaker 1: as a part of a triad, you know, her, Janelle
- 33:24Speaker 1: and Mary and what they're doing with their lives. Like
- 33:27Speaker 1: I could never just watch a show about Christine and
- 33:30Speaker 1: her weird ass children. I know and like what she's
- 33:33Speaker 1: doing with her life, even though I'm sure it's very interesting,
- 33:35Speaker 1: I could never do it. Like these segments don't need
- 33:38Speaker 1: to be in these episodes. No, they really don't.
- 33:41Speaker 2: And the only reason why they included their Valentine's Day
- 33:43Speaker 2: dinners so they could just juxtapose it with Robin and
- 33:46Speaker 2: Cody's Valentine's Day dinner, which is kind of like the
- 33:49Speaker 2: next thing we get to before. So we before Valentine's Days.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I've just been picturing them rising from their coffins, bats,
- 33:58Speaker 1: flying cobwebs. They're vampire children, Cody Sparratu and Robin Sparratu
- 34:05Speaker 1: sitting across from each other like drinking from skulls straight up.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Just oh god, they're terrible.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Evil people, man, They're terrible people. And like before the
- 34:14Speaker 2: whole Valentine's Day dinner, we have them building a freaking
- 34:18Speaker 2: vanity set for Aril who listen, Okay, she's an innocent child.
- 34:23Speaker 1: We're not going to dig out Ariol.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I'm not gonna shot on, of course not.
- 34:27Speaker 1: She's a baby.
- 34:28Speaker 2: She's a baby, and she doesn't realize her parents are demons, right,
- 34:32Speaker 2: but yeah, yeah, but Cody talks about how every year
- 34:37Speaker 2: for Valentine's Day they like to get their kids gifts,
- 34:41Speaker 2: and so they bought little Aril, who's like, I don't
- 34:44Speaker 2: know nine, I don't know, you care a talk. They
- 34:48Speaker 2: buy her a vanity for her for Valentine's Day. And
- 34:52Speaker 2: I'm just like, I was so bitter as a child
- 34:55Speaker 2: watching this, because I'm just like, man, you can't even
- 34:57Speaker 2: call your other kids like on their actual, let alone
- 35:01Speaker 2: Valentine's Day, Like you can't even like have a relationship
- 35:05Speaker 2: with all the other children you brought into the world.
- 35:07Speaker 2: But yeah, let's buy this ten year old of vanity set.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Here's my question. What about Saul. Oh well, yeah, he's
- 35:14Speaker 1: standing right there. What does he get It's Valentine's Day
- 35:17Speaker 1: for Saul too. I mean he went to school that
- 35:20Speaker 1: day and he probably exchanged little Valentine's cards. I mean
- 35:23Speaker 1: he's celebrating Valentine's Day, but like nothing for him. Cricket,
- 35:28Speaker 1: A new coffin, A new coffin. It's in the basement. Honey, Sorry,
- 35:38Speaker 1: so terrible. Sorry, So I shouldn't have said that's fine,
- 35:41Speaker 1: but like.
- 35:44Speaker 2: The coffin, Yeah, it's nice. And come from forgive me Lord.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I'm just like, what about Solomon, I'm kind of weird.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Like when my husband and I celebrate Valentine's Day, which
- 35:56Speaker 1: we never do because it's a corporate holiday just about
- 35:59Speaker 1: making well, we don't care about it. But if we
- 36:01Speaker 1: were to do it, it would be just as much
- 36:03Speaker 1: about him, yeah, as it is about me exactly. And
- 36:06Speaker 1: plus you have twenty thousand other kids who I'm sure
- 36:09Speaker 1: would love to hear from you, just yeah, one phone
- 36:12Speaker 1: call from you for Valentine's Day. But no, it's all
- 36:14Speaker 1: about Ariella. I can imagine being his other children or
- 36:18Speaker 1: his daughter's watching this back.
- 36:20Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying, Like, I would have been so
- 36:22Speaker 2: freaking pissed if I saw my dad like giving his
- 36:25Speaker 2: other daughter a really awesome vanity because she likes the
- 36:28Speaker 2: makeup and it's a really thoughtful gift for a little Ariella,
- 36:31Speaker 2: and it's great. I'm glad that she's happy, But like
- 36:33Speaker 2: if I was a daughter, I'd be like really, like
- 36:35Speaker 2: I don't even get like a little box of Heart chocolates.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I can't even get that a text like come anything.
- 36:41Speaker 2: But what was interesting about this segment is that when
- 36:44Speaker 2: they bring up the Amazon package of this vanity box.
- 36:47Speaker 1: And there's my husband mowing. You told him, I don't think.
- 36:50Speaker 2: It can we can hear it. I don't think anybody
- 36:53Speaker 2: can hear it. I think you're crazy. You don't have
- 36:54Speaker 2: to always find me, can leave it in or whatever,
- 36:56Speaker 2: But I think so. But it's like, are you sure
- 36:59Speaker 2: you hear the mowing? To know that you can't hear it.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Beatrice told him that he could, and so now he's
- 37:05Speaker 1: going to be out there just mowing all night. Buddy,
- 37:07Speaker 1: you know, he's got a beer and he's going for it.
- 37:10Speaker 1: But his little core is sorry and just letting you
- 37:13Speaker 1: know in advance. There might be some moan going on
- 37:15Speaker 1: in the background anyway.
- 37:17Speaker 2: But anyway, So they bring up the Amazon package from
- 37:20Speaker 2: their basement full of other Amazon.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Packages next to the Dickensian Village and all those American
- 37:26Speaker 1: girl dogs.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Exactly, and Cody makes a comment about how Robin's the shopping.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Queen again on the heels of the conversation between Janelle
- 37:34Speaker 1: and Mary about how these people aren't paying them their money.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Chef's kiss. I love the producers for that. I feel
- 37:41Speaker 2: like they're totally throwing some shade, or maybe throwing us
- 37:44Speaker 2: some fan service a little bit with these edits. They
- 37:46Speaker 2: could do more. I think they could do a lot more.
- 37:49Speaker 2: They could, but they're doing the best that they can
- 37:52Speaker 2: and I'm liking it a lot. And then we talk
- 37:54Speaker 2: about Valentine's Day and how Cody's the babe ruth where
- 37:57Speaker 2: he sometimes knocks it out of the park and other
- 38:00Speaker 2: times he strikes out, which I'm just like.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Right, I thought it was an interesting discussion about Valentine's
- 38:07Speaker 1: Day in the polygamist structure, how it does kind of
- 38:12Speaker 1: put the husband into a precarious situation because like, you
- 38:15Speaker 1: can't give one wife like preferential treatment. She gets something
- 38:19Speaker 1: great and the other wives don't. We see some flashbacks
- 38:23Speaker 1: to a time when he's like handing out flowers and
- 38:26Speaker 1: he's not giving anybody a kiss, and it's all very platonic,
- 38:30Speaker 1: and I did think it was I thought it was really,
- 38:34Speaker 1: I don't know, insightful of Robin. I know that's strange
- 38:38Speaker 1: to hear in the form of a sentence. I just
- 38:40Speaker 1: thought it was very insightful when she talked about how
- 38:44Speaker 1: she entered the family and the rule already existed that
- 38:48Speaker 1: they could not show affection. Cody could not show affection
- 38:50Speaker 1: to his wives and they could not show affection to him,
- 38:53Speaker 1: and that it was her philosophy that they should, and
- 38:57Speaker 1: that the wives and Cody were quick to like have arguments,
- 39:01Speaker 1: have edgy talks, have fights, but they never allowed us
- 39:05Speaker 1: for love and for affection, and maybe if they had
- 39:09Speaker 1: it would have been better for everybody.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Except then it would have been more obvious, yeah, to
- 39:14Speaker 2: see the disparity between the affection that Cody gave all
- 39:17Speaker 2: the other wives and Robin, and she talks about this,
- 39:21Speaker 2: like how this rule made Cody and all the other
- 39:25Speaker 2: wives probably feel alone and feel like they couldn't show
- 39:30Speaker 2: their affection their love towards their not's even secure, and
- 39:35Speaker 2: Robin says that this was like a huge mistake. She
- 39:37Speaker 2: thinks that this was kind of like the downfall of
- 39:39Speaker 2: the family. And we were already jealous anyway, so who
- 39:43Speaker 2: cares if you saw him be with another wife affectionately
- 39:47Speaker 2: like we're already jealous, which I can understand. But then
- 39:50Speaker 2: we pan over to Christine and Mary who kind of
- 39:54Speaker 2: give their takes on it and say, well, it wouldn't
- 39:57Speaker 2: have bothered me. I think Mary was the one that
- 39:59Speaker 2: said this, like it wouldn't have bothered me if I
- 40:00Speaker 2: was in a good place with Cody to see him
- 40:03Speaker 2: be affectionate with other wives. But when I was struggling,
- 40:06Speaker 2: and Christine echoes this, when I was struggling, it was
- 40:09Speaker 2: really hard for him to see. For me to see
- 40:12Speaker 2: him be in a better place with the other wives,
- 40:14Speaker 2: which I could respect, it would be difficult. And this
- 40:16Speaker 2: is why polygamy does not a good.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Option, right, Yah, not good at all. And this is
- 40:23Speaker 1: where we get the interstitial from Cody, where he talks
- 40:25Speaker 1: about how Mary historically, certainly when they were first married,
- 40:29Speaker 1: was very clingy, Yeah, very needy, like sit in his
- 40:33Speaker 1: lap and hug him a lot, and how it was
- 40:36Speaker 1: Janelle's mother who approached him and said, it's really hard
- 40:40Speaker 1: for Janelle to see that affection, so you might want
- 40:42Speaker 1: to make a shift and a change. And from that
- 40:45Speaker 1: moment on, they enacted this rule that they weren't going
- 40:48Speaker 1: to show affection to one another. And Janelle says in
- 40:50Speaker 1: her talking head like, yeah, like, you can have the
- 40:53Speaker 1: rules applied to the different marriages according to the people
- 40:55Speaker 1: in those marriages, And if everybody felt good about Cody,
- 41:00Speaker 1: the relationship with Cody, it maybe wouldn't have been a
- 41:03Speaker 1: big deal if he was affectionate or they were affectionate
- 41:05Speaker 1: with him. But because there was always a problem in
- 41:08Speaker 1: one of those relationships, they could never manage it.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Exactly, and because Cody couldn't manage his other relationships with
- 41:14Speaker 2: everybody to make it feel like it was equal for
- 41:17Speaker 2: everyone and make everybody feel equally loved, because you know,
- 41:20Speaker 2: love should be multiplied, not divided. It would have been better, yea,
- 41:24Speaker 2: it would have been fine. Right, They could have dealt
- 41:26Speaker 2: with it, but they couldn't because it's all Cody's fault.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Right, Is this when Janelle talks about how Robin doesn't
- 41:33Speaker 1: really understand that life because by the time she came
- 41:37Speaker 1: into the family, like they had already scrimped and saved
- 41:42Speaker 1: and like had all their hardships and then she just
- 41:44Speaker 1: reaped all the rewards. Was it this part or was
- 41:45Speaker 1: it somewhere else?
- 41:46Speaker 2: It was probably earlier, but it was in the context
- 41:48Speaker 2: of like Cody can have his Diesel genes model and
- 41:51Speaker 2: live happily ever after, but like, she's never been through
- 41:54Speaker 2: the hard times with you, she said, she's never been
- 41:57Speaker 2: through the starving years. She talks about when she was
- 42:00Speaker 2: holding her up with a freaking safety pin, diaper pin,
- 42:03Speaker 2: and like they were broke as hell and she was
- 42:06Speaker 2: with him through all of it. And I think James
- 42:09Speaker 2: talked about this on My Take on Reality a little bit.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Maybe he talked about it on a speak pipe or
- 42:13Speaker 2: when we did our live with him, but he mentioned
- 42:15Speaker 2: this very thing. So it was interesting to have Janelle
- 42:19Speaker 2: echo it on the show and say like, yeah, that's cool,
- 42:22Speaker 2: Like you can have her now when you're rich and
- 42:25Speaker 2: you have all this money and all these cool things,
- 42:27Speaker 2: But she wasn't there with you during the hard time,
- 42:30Speaker 2: and that's the woman you want to keep, and you
- 42:32Speaker 2: got rid of all three of.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Them, right, So it's easy for you, Robin, to talk
- 42:36Speaker 1: about wanting affection or displays of affection, but you weren't
- 42:39Speaker 1: there when we were trying to figure out all the
- 42:42Speaker 1: rules so that we could make this family work. And
- 42:44Speaker 1: so now though you've entered the family and we've all left,
- 42:47Speaker 1: now you get the benefit of all of the resources
- 42:51Speaker 1: and all of the money and all of the assets.
- 42:53Speaker 1: You get to have them, He gets to have his model,
- 42:56Speaker 1: and I guess we're just out in the cold.
- 42:58Speaker 2: And this is like something we've talked about prior episodes
- 43:00Speaker 2: of like would Robin leave Cody when the resources.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Robin have stayed exactly if Robin was the second wife,
- 43:08Speaker 1: if Robin was the third wife like back in the day,
- 43:11Speaker 1: would she have stayed during the lean years or would
- 43:13Speaker 1: she have had a problem with that? I suspect given
- 43:16Speaker 1: the debt that she walked out of her first marriage
- 43:18Speaker 1: with to the Victoria's Secret and everything, I would suspect
- 43:22Speaker 1: she would have not have been happy. She would not
- 43:23Speaker 1: have wanted to struggle, and she never had to struggle
- 43:26Speaker 1: with Cody. Nope, That's why she is going to be
- 43:28Speaker 1: disinclined to leave him now because again the question is
- 43:31Speaker 1: where are you going to go though, rob Bed, Where.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Are you going to go?
- 43:34Speaker 1: What you go to do?
- 43:34Speaker 2: I mean for real?
- 43:35Speaker 1: Because money is her motivator exactly.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Very interesting.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Yes.
- 43:40Speaker 2: And then the last scene that we have is the
- 43:42Speaker 2: Valentine's dinner with Cody and Robin some weird steakhouse or
- 43:45Speaker 2: something right, And this is where Cody gives her the jewelry,
- 43:49Speaker 2: which we'll probably talk about later at the.
- 43:50Speaker 1: End because let's let's save that for Patreon. We'll have
- 43:54Speaker 1: like a deep dive discussion about the jewelry and how
- 43:56Speaker 1: we really feel about that. Yeah, it is, talk about
- 44:00Speaker 1: it then.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yes, but he gives her the jewelry. He says, it's
- 44:03Speaker 2: pretty jewelry for a pretty Ladyka, which I'm like, is
- 44:06Speaker 2: the pretty lady in the room with us?
- 44:07Speaker 1: It's the pretty jewelry in the room with us for real.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Yeah, And then we get into a conversation about I
- 44:14Speaker 2: guess Cody went and visited some of his eldest daughters.
- 44:18Speaker 1: He went, I think probably for a visit with Truly,
- 44:21Speaker 1: and when he was there, he also met with Aspen
- 44:26Speaker 1: And it sounds like a couple of sons from a
- 44:28Speaker 1: different mother, So I'm thinking obviously Janelle, unless he's preferring
- 44:33Speaker 1: to Peyden and another brother. I don't really know who
- 44:35Speaker 1: this was. But he did have a conversation with Aspen,
- 44:39Speaker 1: which sounds truly heartbreaking. Yes, and as a parent, I mean,
- 44:45Speaker 1: I was just so sad for Aspen hearing how Cody
- 44:50Speaker 1: is recounting the conversation as if it was like such
- 44:53Speaker 1: a beautiful thing. But go on, I don't want to
- 44:57Speaker 1: jump on your toes.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Like Robin asks the question like how was that?
- 45:00Speaker 2: You know, because she's reading a script and so she's
- 45:03Speaker 2: asking Cody like, how was that? Conversation and Cody says, well,
- 45:07Speaker 2: Afspin came to me and said that she feels like
- 45:10Speaker 2: I hate her like and I don't want to be
- 45:13Speaker 2: around her.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Why don't you like me, daddy?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Why don't you like me? And Robin makes a comment
- 45:18Speaker 2: and says, well, that was more of a confrontation, which
- 45:21Speaker 2: I didn't like. And actually I had a conversation with
- 45:24Speaker 2: Ethel about this because Ethel said this was the moment
- 45:28Speaker 2: for her where she realized Robin was the villain because
- 45:32Speaker 2: Cody is recounting Aspen telling him this heartbreaking thing, why
- 45:36Speaker 2: don't you like me? Dad? And Cody in his talking
- 45:38Speaker 2: head is like, sweetheart, I love you. That's what he
- 45:40Speaker 2: says to the camera anyway, and Robin turns it into
- 45:44Speaker 2: what was a confrontation, makes it a Harsher moment than
- 45:47Speaker 2: what it needs to be. And Ethel said this is
- 45:51Speaker 2: indicative of Robin's soft manipulation, like always turning the situation
- 45:56Speaker 2: into something worse than it actually needs to be. But
- 46:00Speaker 2: maybe Robin this entire time has just been pushing Cody
- 46:04Speaker 2: away from his kids because she wants him to be
- 46:07Speaker 2: focused on her kids only. And it shows because like
- 46:10Speaker 2: the vanity set for ril, it's like, does she need
- 46:13Speaker 2: that though she's ten and Cody's not giving that same
- 46:18Speaker 2: kind of love and affection to truly or to any
- 46:20Speaker 2: of his other kids. So it was actually really interesting,
- 46:23Speaker 2: like Ethel making that observation of Robin framing that conversation.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Like so but importantly yes, And I wondered if she
- 46:33Speaker 1: caught herself doing it, because she is the Cody whisperer. Ye,
- 46:37Speaker 1: and we've had Janelle call her out for trying to
- 46:39Speaker 1: constantly therapize and be in that role. Like I wondered
- 46:43Speaker 1: if she caught herself reframing it as a confrontation when
- 46:46Speaker 1: it was Cody who introduced it as a conversation. Yes,
- 46:49Speaker 1: because then she's like, I mean a good confrontation though,
- 46:52Speaker 1: But like I think she was trying to set it up,
- 46:55Speaker 1: like like worst case scenario would be she's trying to
- 46:58Speaker 1: covertly present it to us as Cody goes over there
- 47:01Speaker 1: to hang out with his kids and askin forces the
- 47:04Speaker 1: confrontation in which she accuses Cody of neglecting her or something.
- 47:09Speaker 1: But Cody in that moment, he's so dumb anyway, But
- 47:13Speaker 1: in that moment, he's like, no, it was actually a
- 47:15Speaker 1: really great conversation. Yeah, and so she asked me this
- 47:18Speaker 1: question and I told her absolutely not, I love you
- 47:21Speaker 1: and two things and I'm hoping I'm going to remember
- 47:25Speaker 1: them both. But the first thing was as a parent,
- 47:30Speaker 1: that is not what I would have said. I would
- 47:31Speaker 1: have ended with that how much I love you. The
- 47:34Speaker 1: first thing I would have said, though, would have been
- 47:36Speaker 1: around taking responsibility for the fact that I have not
- 47:40Speaker 1: contacted you and even the way that it refers to
- 47:44Speaker 1: this on the couch. And he's like, well, you know,
- 47:46Speaker 1: because these women were talking about me and the kids
- 47:50Speaker 1: were seeing me through their filter and you know, I
- 47:54Speaker 1: just couldn't deal with it or whatever. So like, what
- 47:56Speaker 1: you're actually saying then, is that you took out on
- 48:00Speaker 1: your children the problems that you had with their mothers
- 48:03Speaker 1: instead of compartmentalizing, dealing with the moms on the side
- 48:07Speaker 1: and still making space and time for these children. Like
- 48:10Speaker 1: that's your mistake, that's what you did. It wasn't the
- 48:16Speaker 1: onus of the The onness wasn't on the children to
- 48:19Speaker 1: reach out and maintain and manage these relationships. That is
- 48:23Speaker 1: on the parent every single time. So that's the first thing.
- 48:25Speaker 1: The second thing was was that this felt like a
- 48:28Speaker 1: private conversation, like Aspen was not on camera. There have
- 48:33Speaker 1: been other times that she could have brought it up
- 48:36Speaker 1: on camera, even to Christine, she has never done that.
- 48:40Speaker 1: She has been very reserved. And while she's been supportive
- 48:42Speaker 1: of her mother and she's been there for her mother,
- 48:44Speaker 1: she's never trash Gody, not that I've seen at all.
- 48:47Speaker 1: This felt to me like he's recounting the details of
- 48:51Speaker 1: a private moment that Aspin tried to have with him,
- 48:55Speaker 1: which gives him the benefit of framing and contextualizing it
- 48:59Speaker 1: according to how he wants us to hear it, and
- 49:01Speaker 1: it takes that away from Aspen. And did Aspin even
- 49:05Speaker 1: want this out in the public square? Did she want
- 49:09Speaker 1: us knowing that? Very vulnerably she went to her father
- 49:12Speaker 1: and said, Daddy, why don't.
- 49:13Speaker 2: You like me?
- 49:14Speaker 1: Like I wouldn't want that, I wouldn't want the raccoons
- 49:17Speaker 1: consuming that as trash if. I'm just trying to ask
- 49:19Speaker 1: my dad this vulnerable question, and yet he presents it
- 49:23Speaker 1: producing content again in this moment, and I'm just like,
- 49:26Speaker 1: oh God, that stinks too, Honey.
- 49:28Speaker 2: That's actually a really, really good point because Aspen is
- 49:31Speaker 2: pretty private, like she doesn't really talk about this stuff.
- 49:33Speaker 2: We've seen Isabelle on camera express that she's upset with
- 49:37Speaker 2: how Head's dad doesn't talk to her, doesn't engage in
- 49:41Speaker 2: a relationship with her. But we haven't seen a lot
- 49:44Speaker 2: of that from Aspen. And maybe there's footage of that
- 49:46Speaker 2: that we that got edited out or something. I don't know,
- 49:50Speaker 2: but that's a really good point. I wonder how she
- 49:52Speaker 2: feels about her dad talking about putting her on blasts
- 49:56Speaker 2: and talking about it with Robin of all people, when
- 49:59Speaker 2: I think assume most of the kids don't.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Really like this much because she's awful.
- 50:04Speaker 2: So it's very interesting and to your point, like Cody
- 50:08Speaker 2: might be misrepresenting this whole conversation, like maybe it wasn't
- 50:12Speaker 2: that beautiful. Maybe Aspen didn't leave that conversation feeling like
- 50:16Speaker 2: things were resolved or like she had her dad back
- 50:19Speaker 2: in her corner. Maybe Cody's framing it like that because
- 50:22Speaker 2: he's trying to rehab his image to us and trying
- 50:26Speaker 2: to take responsibility or like be there for his kids
- 50:30Speaker 2: when he when we know he isn't. And he even
- 50:33Speaker 2: brings this up like he's like I was afraid to
- 50:36Speaker 2: reach out. I felt like, what did he say? He
- 50:38Speaker 2: felt discouraged to reach out to unwelcomed. Yeah, and I'm
- 50:42Speaker 2: just like, really, yeah, really unwelcomed because apparently Aspen said, like,
- 50:50Speaker 2: I've never been unwelcoming to you, like I've always wanted
- 50:52Speaker 2: a relationship because I've never said anything bad about you
- 50:54Speaker 2: a day in my life, right.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but you don't. At that time in my life,
- 50:58Speaker 1: I was feeling unwelcome based on what was going on
- 51:01Speaker 1: with these moms. And again, that's not the fault of
- 51:05Speaker 1: the child. Asking all of the other kids as well,
- 51:08Speaker 1: other than the ones that you have with Robin, like, yep,
- 51:10Speaker 1: that's not their fault. You're the dad. You're the one
- 51:13Speaker 1: who's supposed to be making building the bridges yet and
- 51:16Speaker 1: making those connections.
- 51:17Speaker 2: And that's such an emotionally immature thing for him to say, like, well, unwelcomed.
- 51:22Speaker 2: These are your kids, dude. They didn't ask to have
- 51:25Speaker 2: their parents divorced. They didn't ask to even be on
- 51:27Speaker 2: national TV and have their parents' divorce be projected to
- 51:31Speaker 2: the rest of the world and judged and nitpicked and
- 51:34Speaker 2: analyzed and all this stuff. They just care about having
- 51:37Speaker 2: their dad and their life right, and care about their
- 51:39Speaker 2: dad being present in their life and asking them questions
- 51:42Speaker 2: and wanting to be involved. Right, but oh, okay, boo hoo,
- 51:46Speaker 2: you felt unwelcomed because your ex wife left you, right,
- 51:50Speaker 2: your kids didn't leave you. And that's the thing. Cody
- 51:52Speaker 2: even admits that he assumed that the wives were just
- 51:56Speaker 2: talking grab about him to the kids. And we have
- 51:59Speaker 2: a scene with Christine being like, I've never done that,
- 52:02Speaker 2: which I'm like, I feel like you did a little bit.
- 52:07Speaker 1: You certainly have on television. Yeah, and we presuppose that
- 52:11Speaker 1: your children are probably watching these episodes well, and.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Like you're also calling up Michelte after your first date
- 52:17Speaker 2: with David being like, does Tony make you feel supported?
- 52:21Speaker 2: And Keelty's like yeah, and Christine's like, oh cool, like
- 52:24Speaker 2: because that's how David makes me feel. And then Michelty
- 52:27Speaker 2: makes the assumption like, oh, that's how dad never made
- 52:29Speaker 2: you feel. Like you are talking to your kids, You're
- 52:31Speaker 2: talking to the adult kids at least about your divorce
- 52:35Speaker 2: and how Cody made you feel, and you're saying all
- 52:38Speaker 2: this stuff on camera for them to ultimately watch. Sure,
- 52:40Speaker 2: like it is happening, But at the same time, Cody
- 52:44Speaker 2: should not have assumed it, Like the saying like assuming
- 52:47Speaker 2: makes an ass out of you and me, like you
- 52:49Speaker 2: shouldn't have assumed that the wives were talking crap about
- 52:52Speaker 2: you and that the kids didn't want to see you.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Also, it doesn't matter even if these wives are talking
- 52:57Speaker 1: bad about you, that doesn't change the fact that you
- 53:00Speaker 1: should still be putting yourself in front of your kids, exactly.
- 53:03Speaker 1: I mean, even just to counter whatever these moms might
- 53:06Speaker 1: be saying, like having your own life, having your own
- 53:09Speaker 1: relationship and connections with these kids that they can rely
- 53:12Speaker 1: upon that. But your choice was just to ghost them.
- 53:15Speaker 1: You just ghosted them and they never saw you again.
- 53:18Speaker 1: I mean, that's what it sounds like. So why aren't
- 53:21Speaker 1: we taking responsibility for that? Even in your interstitial or
- 53:26Speaker 1: out to dinner with Robin, why aren't you talking about
- 53:29Speaker 1: the things that you've done wrong? They're just so fucking vapid. Yep, Beatrice,
- 53:33Speaker 1: it's just like, yeah, it was a really sweet moment.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I told her I loved her, I love of course,
- 53:36Speaker 1: I love you.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Ever, in that moment, Aspen needed and required so much
- 53:42Speaker 1: more emotional support. But you're not capable of it because
- 53:45Speaker 1: there's nothing there except demonism exactly. And Robin's just sitting
- 53:50Speaker 1: across the table, like, oh my god, sounds so great.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Why didn't you go, Robin exactly? I mean, I thought
- 53:55Speaker 1: you were super close with Tony and mackelty and their twins.
- 53:57Speaker 1: I thought you were there for the birth and everything.
- 53:59Speaker 1: I mean, Grant, none of them want to see you,
- 54:01Speaker 1: and you're the reason. I'm sure that they feel. The
- 54:03Speaker 1: kids feel you're the reason that their family has blown up.
- 54:06Speaker 1: But for all of the love you say you have
- 54:09Speaker 1: for all of these kids, and the devastation that you
- 54:10Speaker 1: feel because your family's been torn apart, why aren't you
- 54:13Speaker 1: there making overtures or trying to have relationships?
- 54:16Speaker 2: Like you guys are the grown adults here. I mean,
- 54:18Speaker 2: I know the kids are adults too, but they're young
- 54:20Speaker 2: adults like you guys are the old adults, like grow up,
- 54:24Speaker 2: suck it up, be humble, but like they can never
- 54:27Speaker 2: they can never do that. And then we have this
- 54:30Speaker 2: stupid conversation that's so scripted and dumb of Robin asking
- 54:34Speaker 2: Cody is one wife enough for you? Are you sure
- 54:38Speaker 2: you don't want to live polygamy anymore? And this was
- 54:41Speaker 2: so dumb because obviously we know the answer.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Right and he said it a million times and we've
- 54:46Speaker 1: already discussed this with you, Robin. And don't act like
- 54:49Speaker 1: you really want polygamy. I never really wanted polygamy. I've
- 54:51Speaker 1: only ever really wanted Cody. Don't act disappointed that now
- 54:55Speaker 1: you're a monogamous. This is what you've always wanted and
- 54:57Speaker 1: now you have it. So here we are.
- 54:59Speaker 2: And she keeps talking about her faith like I'm scared
- 55:02Speaker 2: of plural marriage. I don't know if I want to
- 55:04Speaker 2: live in again, but it's a part of my faith. Like,
- 55:07Speaker 2: shut up, you're the only one that's subscribing to the
- 55:10Speaker 2: AUB stuff. I mean, I guess Mary is and Janelle
- 55:14Speaker 2: kinda with the spiritual dumb I mean, I guess, but
- 55:16Speaker 2: like Mary, Robbin's the only one that's saying she still
- 55:20Speaker 2: believes in all this. But I'm like, you haven't been
- 55:22Speaker 2: to the AUB church since you guys left Utah and
- 55:25Speaker 2: seasoned Freaking one or two or wherever it was. Mmm,
- 55:28Speaker 2: like miss me with this, I'm so tired of this conversation.
- 55:31Speaker 1: And I don't believe anything you have to say. And
- 55:34Speaker 1: the reality is, and we're all in the reality TV
- 55:37Speaker 1: cringe dumpster is we realize that if he did bring
- 55:40Speaker 1: a young Chippy home and wanted to have another wife
- 55:43Speaker 1: introduced to the family. You would absolutely not put up
- 55:46Speaker 1: with that, and you would leave him. There's just no way.
- 55:48Speaker 1: There's no world in which you would ever let that happen.
- 55:51Speaker 1: So stop lying. We all know this. Don't act like
- 55:53Speaker 1: we don't know this.
- 55:54Speaker 2: I mean for real. And then we end the episode
- 55:57Speaker 2: with Cody and his interstitial reflecting on his comments that
- 56:00Speaker 2: he made yes about never loving any of the OG
- 56:04Speaker 2: three women. And I thought this was really interesting because
- 56:09Speaker 2: I don't know if it's like genuine, but maybe it is.
- 56:13Speaker 2: It was just weird how he brought it up, Like
- 56:16Speaker 2: how he only said all of those things because he
- 56:19Speaker 2: was angry and upset and like trying to shove off
- 56:22Speaker 2: his feelings about all of these divorces and try to
- 56:27Speaker 2: shift blame to like, oh, I just never loved any
- 56:29Speaker 2: of them. But then he says out of his mouth
- 56:33Speaker 2: the truth is that he did love them, and that
- 56:36Speaker 2: he wishes nothing but the best for them.
- 56:38Speaker 1: I guess like that he would love if they could
- 56:40Speaker 1: be friendly. Yeah, at the end result of all of
- 56:42Speaker 1: this trap is that they could have friendships. Yeah. My
- 56:47Speaker 1: vibe on that was that he is socially aware like
- 56:51Speaker 1: both Robin and him, and I wouldn't be surprised if
- 56:54Speaker 1: they had like a PR crisis team or somebody counseling
- 56:57Speaker 1: them behind the scenes, Like you've got to address this,
- 56:58Speaker 1: Like you can't just say this crazy crap about these women.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I mean, and you have to know how you're being perceived.
- 57:04Speaker 1: So I have a feeling that they do. Yeah, and
- 57:06Speaker 1: so he's doing damage control in these moments. And of
- 57:09Speaker 1: course you loved them. We all know that you loved them.
- 57:11Speaker 1: We watched the show even in the beginning of the show.
- 57:13Speaker 1: We're doing rewinds were season six. You were loving these women,
- 57:18Speaker 1: so of course you did. And so now you're just
- 57:20Speaker 1: trying to repair your image.
- 57:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and trying to again shift blame a little
- 57:25Speaker 2: bit and be like, oh, it's just angry. It's like,
- 57:27Speaker 2: even if you're angry, you shouldn't be saying such awful,
- 57:30Speaker 2: vile things on public television.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Well, they were trashing me, and so yeah, I trashed
- 57:35Speaker 1: them too. Okay, don't really remember any of them out
- 57:39Speaker 1: and out trashing you. In fact, they seem like they
- 57:42Speaker 1: were being pretty delicate with how they were handling you
- 57:44Speaker 1: until you were out here saying all this wild stuff
- 57:48Speaker 1: about them. Then they're like, O goad, gloves off, We're
- 57:50Speaker 1: just going to tell the truth. Then, okay, I just
- 57:51Speaker 1: tell the truth. And even so they haven't been as
- 57:54Speaker 1: hard on you as I would be in this moment,
- 57:56Speaker 1: even with Mary right, like she's still covering for you
- 57:59Speaker 1: to some degree.
- 58:00Speaker 2: They should be so much harder.
- 58:01Speaker 1: They should be dragging you through to drag him, drag him.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Oh my god. And you're lucky they are, because I
- 58:09Speaker 2: feel like they have I don't know, thirty years of
- 58:12Speaker 2: stories that they could tell, indeed to make you look
- 58:15Speaker 2: even worse of a person. But they're not. They're being
- 58:18Speaker 2: very careful.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Yep.
- 58:20Speaker 2: And so now he's also being careful. Oh, I only
- 58:22Speaker 2: saw those students because I'm mad.
- 58:24Speaker 1: And what did you think about him admitting that his
- 58:26Speaker 1: identity was tied up in how they viewed him, and
- 58:31Speaker 1: them telling him that he's awesome, and them the wives
- 58:35Speaker 1: telling their kids, your dad is awesome, and then his dad,
- 58:38Speaker 1: his kids telling him you're an awesome dad, Like he
- 58:41Speaker 1: was so invested in the perception of his family. Yes,
- 58:45Speaker 1: that was his whole identity.
- 58:48Speaker 2: That was really interesting.
- 58:50Speaker 1: That was truthful.
- 58:51Speaker 2: I think that was totally truthful, and it makes sense
- 58:53Speaker 2: why he was so vitriolic and why he had such
- 58:58Speaker 2: a negative reaction, because his whole world kind of turned
- 59:02Speaker 2: upside down, Like, especially when Christine left. I don't think,
- 59:04Speaker 2: and I've said this before, I don't think he was
- 59:06Speaker 2: ever expecting Christine to be the first one to go.
- 59:09Speaker 2: I think he was hoping it was going to be married, yeah,
- 59:11Speaker 2: and that maybe Janelle and Christine would just stay and
- 59:14Speaker 2: be platonic wives so he could keep their money and stuff. Like,
- 59:18Speaker 2: he was never expecting this to happen. He wasn't expecting
- 59:21Speaker 2: all three of them to leave in such a short
- 59:23Speaker 2: period of time after each other. So like, I'm not
- 59:26Speaker 2: trying to justify Cody's actions because they were completely ross
- 59:29Speaker 2: and disgusting and despicable, But like it makes sense when
- 59:33Speaker 2: he's saying that his whole identity was surrounded informed by
- 59:38Speaker 2: everyone else thinking he was so awesome and.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Das sudden, all of those people. So the wives and
- 59:43Speaker 1: the children think that you're a piece of crack and
- 59:46Speaker 1: the whole world, And so I think what we witnessed
- 59:49Speaker 1: was his extinction burst, Like he could not handle how
- 59:53Speaker 1: they felt about him, in addition to how the rest
- 59:56Speaker 1: of us felt about him and how everybody's talking about
- 59:59Speaker 1: him on social media, and he talks about how he
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: was in such a dark place that he even considered
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: walking away from Robina was interesting. Yes, do we believe him?
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: I believe them, Okay, But why why would he ever
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: do that? What else would he ever have outside of
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: her and their life together?
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I mean, he says it was self destruction, which I
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: could see, but like it would have been really interesting,
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Like I feel like it was probably a manipulative tactic
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: that he employed on Robin. Maybe that's what he meant
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: by being unfair to her, like of him just being like, well.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I'm so fucking awful, and why don't you just leave
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: me already? Right like that, maybe I'll leave you right? Yeah?
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, I bet they were fighting.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Maybe I think she was unhappy with him, and maybe
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: that informs even in these moments like when they're out
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: to dinner, like how she does feel energetically like a
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: bit trepidacious around him and unsure.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: And see she feels unsafe because she.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Really doesn't know like are you better? Are you returning
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: to your old self? Like are we going to be? Okay?
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Does not know?
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Even then, I'm like watching them as a couple, like
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: we've been watching them since the beginning, right, I'm like,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: you guys are not the same as season one, and obviously,
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: like honeymoon phases, Dieter, like your relationship changes after you've
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: been with each other for a long time. But I'm like,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: I don't see the chemistry there as much anymore.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I see it on his side, I still feel like
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: he's sprung for her. Of course he's in love with her. Yes,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: he thinks she's pretty. He wants to do all of
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: these things for her, But like, I don't know that
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: she feels that for him.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, and like, how can your relationship really
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: be the same after all of this, Like your whole
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: family's tarnish, your images are tarnished, And like, I don't
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: think Robin appreciates being the villain in the public eye.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: It's why she's privatizing and deleting her Etsy accounts and
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: you know, being very secretive because she doesn't like all
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: of her dirty laundry.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Being eared out right.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: But I'm like, you're a terrible person, so that's what
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: you get, you know. But I just wonder how long
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: this can really last, and maybe it will, maybe it
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: will last, but whats what if they have to declare bankrupts.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: And that's the thing, Like there's a lot of conversations
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: online around this kind of feeling like the last season
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: of Sister Wife.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very funny.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Where are you going to go from here? Like if
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: we suddenly have a well adjusted Cody who's not raging
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: and unhappy, and we still have Robin just hiding all
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: the time, and like all this produced content and like
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: the lives of the other women. I mean, we're happy
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: for you, but it's kind of boring. And what we're
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: getting is what Christine's giving. I don't want it so
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and this is such a long season. I know it's
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: anomalous in that way, Like what if they are setting
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: it up to close it down at the end of
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: season nineteen.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I could see it.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, what will Cody and Robin behind you?
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: They're gonna have to sell a lot of cameos, a
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: lot of cameos, and they're going to have to sell their.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: House, yeah, and a lot of that artwork and that
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: weird jewelry as well. Like they're going to have to
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: be some significant changes in their life, definitely, because that's
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: what a lot of people are feeling like and when
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: you when they drop like trailers or whatever on TLC,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: or like scenes from the next week or whatever. Like
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: the comments, honey are just like when is when are
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: you getting these people off of our television? We don't
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: want to see this anymore? Like when is this? Wrap
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: it up already?
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Straight up?
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: What if they do?
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: I mean, what are we gonna do? There's no way
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: we're gonna have twenty more episodes in season twenty.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Of what I like, what lawsuit?
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Maybe that would be interesting, but TLC's not gonna give
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: us that.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Well, then you've got nothing exactly. You don't have anything then,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: because like the only thing interesting about this season has
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: been Coyote passed of course, and obviously Mary leaving and
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: all the women leaving and spiritually still things were interesting,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: But so much of this season has been filler and unnecessary. Yep,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: and TLC obviously produces shows that are filler and unnecessary. Yes,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: but I just don't. I really don't know where we
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: go from here.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: No. A lot of people are so tired of it.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: A lot of people are like, I don't even watch
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: this season anymore, Like I don't even care.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: I just watched the recaps.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Yeah, like they're just watching podcasts like ours because they
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: just don't want to be bothered by it. So I
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: don't know, it'll be interesting to see what they do
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: in these tell alls and stuff and in these next
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: coming episodes.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Well, even the preview for next week is boring. Af
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: We've got Mary talking about dating.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: I know, I'm like, ugh, what.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Was the other thing?
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: It was?
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Mary talking about dating dating?
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: She says people are uninterested in her because of her background.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: And then we have Christine saying her and David fight sometime.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Cares like nobody because But then they don't show the
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: preview for what next week's episode's gonna be about, which
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: is addressing Garrison.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: But is it, like yeah, because we only see that
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: on the TLC like Instagram page.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they said next Sunday.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Okay, why didn't they show that in the preview? And
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: are you telling me, Beatrice? Are you telling me that
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: we're gonna have an episode where we finally talk about
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Garrison's unfortunate passing and how this impacts the family. We're
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: gonna have Janelle crying, yeah, and then we're gonna cut
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: to David Woolley climbing over a fence, or we're gonna
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: cut to Mary dating. Yeah, in the same episode. Yeah,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: that is so inappropriate, it's horrible. That is really not
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: the way to do it. No, I sure hope it
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: doesn't go down like that.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: It's gonna go down like that.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: It's not going to be a separate episode. You don't
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: think it's gonna be in the same episode.
