- Audio: Welcome back to Just Ride, where we talk all things motorcycling, the people behind the helmets and the stories that make this community so special. Today's guests are Danny and Shelley, better known as Intrusive Riders, They're a motorcycling couple from Scotland who have built a growing community around it being authentic, relatable and showing the real side of bike life, the adventures, the mistakes, the learning, the laughs and the challenges that come with it. For meeting through TikTok and falling in love, you're not married yet though are you? But we'll talk about that later. Their love of motorcycles to Shelley progressing through her riding journey and advanced training. They've become passionate advocates for the motorcycle community and the positive impact riding can have on mental wellbeing. This summer they're taking on a huge challenge over a thousand miles from Land Centre John O'Groats hosting bike nights along the way to raise money and awareness of Annie's Man Club and Mental Health Motorbike. Danny and Shal... Welcome to Just Right. danny: clap ourselves in. Audio: like that. I like audience participation. Fantastic. No, I mean, danny: yeah. Audio: it is an intro guys and thank you very much for sending us your question there because you guys have done some fantastic things already and I feel like you're only really just getting started. I really want to start with the whole beginning and TikTok, I mean, it's a wonderful place. don't know, I seem to lose hours and I get told off by my wife, what are you doing? Stop scrolling. But you guys turned that into where you are today. Tell us about the whole TikTok thing, because I think that's incredible. danny: Yeah so we basically met on TikTok so Danny was in a live one day and as you said you know you just so happen to be scrolling through as you do and you get endlessly lost in that circle of the TikTok cycles and I was just scrolling came across a motorcyclist, you know, in a live. thought, oh, let's check it out. Helmet on, by the way, helmet was on. Actually, think it Audio: Laughter danny: And I thought, oh, let's just check it out, see what's going on. And at the time I was just starting my motorcycle journey as well. And I thought, let's go and see what it is about. Went in there, Danny was in there just chatting to, you everybody that was popping in and we just sort of started chatting, didn't we? Yeah, just sort of the rest Audio: and the rest is history as they say. danny: is history. But the best part is, is who slid into whose DMs? Audio: Well, Danny, Danny, you have read my mind there, mate. mean, so come on, the beans, who can you get? We'll danny: Mm-hmm. Who was the aggressor? Audio: hear more about that later. danny: I may have sent a DM. Audio: for two. Can you remember? Can you remember what it said? danny: I think it just said, I really like the bike. I think that's literally how it started, I really like your bike, yeah. Oh yeah. was a very Audio: That's a good chat up line isn't it? danny: good chat, well it worked. Yeah, bike compliments always work, always. Audio: And what did you reply with? you remember? danny: I think I said, do you want to see the face first or after? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Audio: Should I take my helmet off? So what you do tonight, gents, don't say to Danny, we love your bike. danny: Yeah, I know by the way, I'll be right I'll be there No, if you say if you're saying that you're saying it to me too because we have the same bike No, we don't. Yes, we do not have the same bike Audio: Yeah. right. Okay. I mean, you're not married yet, but you're already having one of those marital. We'll danny: Yeah, yeah. I love his tits. Audio: did either of you think that, I mean, obviously meeting on TikTok, the whole love of motorcycles, did you think that would become such a huge part of your relationship? danny: See the way it happened, it was just like, I know it sounds cheesy, but like, our stars aligned and I hate that, that is so cheesy and I'll probably get a red neck now, but it literally did. Like everything just worked out perfectly. And then I think we talked for about four or five months and then we did a bungee jump for our first date. Audio: Hang on, hang on. danny: Yeah. Audio: Let's just have a little bit rewind. You did what? danny: so the very first time, so obviously as Danny was saying, we were speaking for quite some time before we took the plunge, literally, if you like, before we went on our first date. And that first date we decided to do something just a bit crazy, a bit intrusive, and we went and did a bungee jump together on our first date. Audio: you just slipped that in there, didn't you? You just slip it right in there in truth. danny: Straight in man, straight in. Audio: an individual bungee jump? was that the tandem one? danny: No, individual. individual one. So Danny, the general ears went first. I showed everybody how it's done. I would have if I was close enough. Yeah, I wish you did push Audio: Did you push him? danny: me because it took me 20 minutes to jump. Audio: I don't know if I've got the bravery to jump Danny, so hats off to both of you actually, you know, for doing the jump. danny: was brutal. Well, it gets worse actually. So we did a bungee jump and then at the same place that we did it, they actually do a, what's the drop? It's a big drop. It's like a swing. one side of the bridge to the other. And Danny enjoyed Audio: I'll see you later. danny: the bungee so much he thought, let's do the swing as well. So we actually did the swing immediately afterwards. Audio: I'd like to do in Wales, we'd all like to do the zipwire. Zipwire? Yeah. danny: yeah, definitely. That's no fails as well. Audio: I think my wife doesn't know this yet. She might know after this podcast, it's her birthday in July. I've booked it. I don't think she likes heights, but she doesn't know. But this might go out after her birthday. Tom, make sure this goes out. danny: Well what you'd have to do is blindfold her, take her there, put her on it and then go happy birthday, take the blindfold off and let her go. Bye! Audio: Yes. See you later. Some bit of a way to show your wife that you're lover. Look love, straight down. I'm going danny: You Audio: to put bottle of at the bottom. But it's, yeah, I mean, where did you do that then? Where was this whole... danny: It was near... It's called Highland Fling. Yeah, Highland Fling. is it? Audio: nice, nice. danny: It's about an hour past Perth. Audio: Right. Excellent. So you've met, obviously, you created some content which seems to have just been, I mean, it's blown up, guys. I mean, obviously, you slipped into our DMs. No, you didn't. We just saw you guys all over. danny: No, you poked us. Audio: That was not me. That was producer Tom. But why do you think so? And we'll get into your content and kind of what you guys have got planned this year, which is incredible. Why do think so many people are really related to your content? I mean, we did straight away and we'll talk about your kind of cornering thing, because that really resonated with me. But why do think people are really resonating with what you guys are doing? danny: I think it's just because we're just real. we just, in the mistakes, you know, we just post it because we're not the only ones out there that make mistakes. We're not the only ones that have these types of conversations. Don't Audio: Thank you. danny: get me wrong. There's a few things we've had to filter out because we can't post. Yeah, because the chats do go wild. Audio: Yeah. danny: Yeah, I think it's just a case of being realistic as well. A lot Audio: Yeah. danny: of people, when they look at social media, they get a certain persona about how social media should be and it looks and sounds a certain way. Whereas we don't want to be like that. We're just being ourselves. What you see is literally what you get. Representing the gingers. Audio: Well I'm pleased to say that because I have got a little bit of ginger in me and we don't normally talk about that and in fact when the light we can see my wife always says I've got a ginger danny: yeah, can see it now. Maybe a little glow, a little glow. Audio: ring. I didn't think we're going to be talking about ginger tonight. danny: Hahaha Audio: Well we did say that some people like to go off topic and off topic. danny: Ha Moving on. Audio: I feel that we're already connected, Dan, on so many levels. danny: I love it, mate, I love it. Audio: But it is great. mean, you guys, you know, what you've got planned this year and we've obviously come out. And remember seeing you, can't even say it, the distinguished gentleman's ride. I mean, how dapper the pair of were. I couldn't work out who was more dapper, though. was a bit like, who do you think was more... Ah, yeah. How was that then? You looked like you had an absolute blast. How was it? Why did you get involved in that? How did that come about? danny: it was actually our first one. it was actually when Shelley bought her bike from Edinburgh Triumph. And then we Audio: Got you. danny: kind of cheekily said, who does your bike reviews? And they said, no one. And then we said, well, we can. And then it was them that invited us and said, you know, do you want a Bobber and a... Tracker. Tracker. I thought it was a Tracer 400, but it's actually a Tracker 400. Audio: Nice. danny: and the edit gave us that for the day. But that was our first Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride and oh, what a turnout, what a turnout. It was brilliant, wasn't it? It was so lovely to be a part of. mean, on the day me and Danny were actually separated, Danny was doing the filming and so he was sort of riding in sort of around the group and through everybody and I had the honor of. sort of being right at the front behind the leader. it was wonderful sort of looking behind you and seeing 200, 250 bikers behind you. was brilliant Audio: Yeah. danny: and loved every single second. Audio: And it is a fantastic cause and I think we've always wanted to try and get involved in it and maybe we can do it next year. We haven't got time this This year we haven't got time. But danny: I feel you there. I feel you there. Audio: it was great and if anybody's watching listening to this, mean check out their socials, mean that, the pictures and the content from that was great. It's so lovely to get involved in that and as I it's something that we want to do. Guys, I mean, your story is fantastic. So tell us how you got into biking in the first place. So I'm going to start with Shelly. So how did you get into biking? What was your lead into it? danny: So it all started from my dad's my dad used to ride a motorcycle and I have very recently actually come across one of the bikes that he used to ride Very very recently or a week or so ago the actual was one Audio: the actual mic danny: of the actual bikes he used to ride. It's a 1960 Triumph Bobber Bonneville Bonneville Bonneville. Yeah Bonneville in Audio: Thanks. danny: red and it's beautiful, but it's all stemmed from him. So unfortunately he passed away when I was a lot younger and I always said that I would continue to do what he liked to do and unfortunately I got to a point in my life where I had a... horrible moment in my life and it made me just made me set up and realize you know life is too short why have I not done it yet let's let's just do it so I did I thought right that's it from that moment I went out did my CBT went straight into my dash training did my mod 1 mod 2 straight onto 650 and I haven't looked back it's been brilliant Audio: Yeah, that's fantastic. I know you were very open about, you know, the 2023 thing and it's, sometimes we do new things, don't we, kind of go, right, hang on a minute. And again, something's happened today, which is just completely through me. So I'm a little bit off tonight. It's just that I've had some news today, which again, it brings everything back, doesn't it, in terms of hanging a minute. This, and we've had a great day on the bike, so mean, the stuff that we've done today is, you know, when you're testing, are throwing yourselves into it. And you know, we've had sheep running out of the place with us. But you get news, don't you? think, hang on a minute, we've got to really take a stock of what we're doing and what do we want to do. And if there's anything you're doubting, just do it. Life's too short. danny: 100 % 100 % Audio: I know, we wouldn't get into that kind of thing tonight. And know, Danny, you've had something we should talk about later on and obviously the big ride you're doing. So I applaud you for doing that because it's... We've got to do it. You've got to go for it. And you only get one go. Yeah, one go. So you may as make it good and enjoy it. Yeah. danny: Absolutely. Life is too short. And the fact that you said that in Welsh, even better. Audio: I've been practicing all day. We should have gone to Wales actually, it would have been drier. We love going to Wales. danny: Hahaha Audio: So Danny, tell us your story. What kicked you off into the world of motorcycling? danny: Yeah, so it was my dad. When I was 12, 13, he bought a Suzuki SV650. It was the S version, the K3. So it would have been, yeah, Audio: Nice. danny: it would have been 13, 2003. Copper colour, oh, it was beautiful. Audio: I remember that color actually. Yeah so I had two SV650s, I the curvy version and I had the pointy version, which one was carbs and what it was injectors but phenomenal bikes, phenomenal bikes, danny: Yeah, so the pointy version was the K3, wasn't it? Yeah. Audio: phenomenal bikes, danny: yeah, as soon as I was on the back of his bike, I always remember him going down. we never used to hold on to him, we used to hold on to the grips at the back and Audio: Yeah. danny: then it'd open up and then it'd go down and next thing, all this wind just goes. And then that feeling, I was like, I'm gonna be a biker. Audio: I was gonna ask was that the moment where you thought, you know what, biking's definitely for me, I need to get myself a bike. I mean, you're only 12 at the time. How old were you when you were on the back of your... danny: Yeah, 12, 13. Yeah, 12, 13. Yeah. And that was it. That was the pinnacle moment. was like, this is me. Audio: Yeah, that's a great film. Tom hasn't seen that yet, but we won't go there. danny: Hahaha! Audio: He's the only one in the family who hasn't seen it. We're going to lock the door, danny: It's such a good film! Audio: tie him to the chair, tape his eyeballs and make him watch it. You are. going to do that. danny: You will love it, I'm telling you, you'll love it. Audio: We went to Bristol to see the actual show that goes before it goes to Broadway and to London. danny: yeah. Audio: I'm sorry I'm digressing. some amazing danny: I know, yeah. Audio: bikes in Bristol. The bikes in Bristol were amazing while I wasn't in Fowlers, danny: I went to Fowler's. Audio: yes, yes Fowlers know it very well. So I mean that's Fantel, we'll talk a bit more about your kind of riding experience a little bit later Danny, but Shelley, right, so you openly admit that confidence didn't come naturally. Do you think that's something new riders need to hear more often because I mean we've seen a massive increase in women riders coming into the market which is so refreshing and so incredible. Do you think that your kind of view and right I'm going to do this I've chopped through it you start doing your advance do you want to kind of tell us about why you've decided straight away to do your advance? danny: Yeah, so I'm still quite a relatively new rider. I mean, I passed on October 24. So you could say sort of a year and half or so riding. And I think it is really important. As you said, you there are a lot of new riders coming through women, especially at the moment as well. And I'm not, mean, for those that have seen our socials, you would have seen, you know, that I have myself have personally made quite a few errors when I'm, when I've been riding. And I think it's important to highlight, you know, that errors. as Arcel made you could be a new rider and you could be you know a very experienced rider Audio: Mm. danny: but doing your advanced riding you can always always learn new things and I think that's really important to take on board you know you you we pick up bad habits is same as when we're driving same as when we're riding we pick up bad habits and I Audio: Yep. Yeah. danny: think just bringing it back to reality just to say that you could you know potentially get a little bit better you know there are some things you may have you know that slip a little bit and yeah let's just make ourselves a safer better writer. Audio: Do you want to tell us about the 650 hitting the pavement? was an interesting thing. danny: Hitting, hitting the pavement. Yeah, I don't think I've told you Or mounting the pavement. What? Audio: Oops. All right, let's not have a domestic. danny: I've got two stories. I've got two stories of hitting the pavement. What? So I did Audio: Carry on. I think you want. danny: it once when I was doing my mod 2 training and then when we were out riding as well. Audio: Should we all take a break? danny: Yeah. So there's two stories. One of them, was, it was on my mod 2 and I was Audio: Yeah. danny: out for the day riding with my instructor and I... got a little bit too confident thinking, this is fine, this is easy, you know, I can do this. And I was at a junction waiting to pull out, saw the opportunity and just twisted that throttle a little bit too hard, went whoop and straight onto the other side and hit the pavement. Came off and scuffed my brand new boots. it's not funny. I'm glad you're okay. Yeah, thanks Audio: the danny: babe. And then the other one was actually back home in Bristol and we were out riding and I target fixated and rather than, and it wasn't even a, it wasn't a, was a very tiny corner really to be honest. Audio: Yeah. danny: But I did Target's fixate and I ended up mounting the pavement and again that video is actually on our socials for people to see and it is either a love it or a hate it video. I think it was one of our first viral videos. Yeah was yeah probably Audio: It danny: one of our first viral videos. yeah. Audio: happens to the best of us. I've been in a ditch. He's been in a ditch. mean, well, you went over a fence, but I got knocked off after six months. I got knocked off my bike after six months danny: I can't... I... oof. Audio: of passing my test. So we've all been there. We've all been there. My golden trick is just falling off the bike when it's not even moving. So he seems to find dollars on the pavement. danny: We've all done that. Audio: So one of things I really want to ask you about, and this did resonate me, is that the whole Twisty Road story is brilliant from the first time doing it and hating it. Do want to just tell us that about that whole thing with the Twisties? danny: so it was actually when I moved to Scotland and I Audio: Mm-hmm. danny: had my Ninja 650 here with me and I hadn't even started any advanced rider lessons had I? So I was still a very new rider really. in fact, no, think I'd just started my advanced riding and I would have been practicing my cornering if you like with my instructor and then I thought, oh, I know the perfect road to take you on. And it's sort of slightly uphill, very twisty. And by the time I got to the top, I was so frustrated with myself. I just thought I can't do these corners very well. ended up cutting the corners, I go straight across the central Audio: Thank danny: line and just think I can't do it like that well Audio: Hmm. danny: this doesn't what I ride a bike well I can't call myself a rider I cannot do these corners Audio: Thank danny: and I was I walked away incredibly frustrated with myself I'm a bit disappointed Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: but obviously a year has passed since then I have done more advanced riding much bike has changed as well Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: and now we go up and down that road I can't keep up yeah I I absolutely, Audio: You never danny: when I did it for the first time and I really felt like I was leaning into the corners and by the time I got to the top, the smile on my face, Danny probably hated me over the cardo, know, squealing with joy. Audio: huh. danny: You know, I was just over the moon and now I just, love going up and down it. It's good. Audio: It's a great thing because and again, right. Residue me and I did, I passed my test. I did me advanced and these guys when we used to ride out with you and Jamie and I was on the, I was on the F 800 GS. Wasn't my first bike that I got as a press bike. Oh, what? Sorry. was an F 800 GS. It had a chain. was all anyway. GS you made fun of me of having all those years ago. Yeah. Sorry. I didn't mean it. It was the best bike you ever had as well. And so I had that and I did my advanced and stuff with the IM and then I got me first big bike in 2016, which was the R 1200 RS and I decided foolishly, I got talked into it to do Lansing at John O'Groats. But in one go, 18 hours and 10 minutes worth of getting wet and dry four times or danny: Wow. Audio: five times over something, which is better than how wet we were today. Can you imagine how much of riding that do to drive completely? And I kept struggling with the corners and I was overthinking it. was I was tensing up, was repping the handlebars. I kept thinking about what do need to do? And I remember going over the black aisle and then you start climbing up on the East Coast and there's a bit, there's a hairpin, a big hairpin, a big bang that goes up. And I went round this bend. I don't know what I did. I think by then I was so tired and just relaxed. And I went round, I was squealing. was absolutely squealing. I was like, I've done it. I've done it. And it was that one moment. like what you were saying there that, you know what mean? You get it. 27 degree angles. danny: Yeah. Audio: Actually you read that wrong. danny: you Audio: it was cause I was so frustrated. done everything. done all this training and that, but I just, was overthinking it, you know, and, and and hearing your story and then I'd love to go back up and do that as many times. Cause cause it's, cause it's brilliant. think of the Shelly's story there about the twisties. We have a road near us, which is hard side. Yeah. And hard side is a long stretch of road and, and it's very twisty. there's always two photographers dotted along in the same positions along that section of road. And if you're going down the bank, you, I always get out of shape always for the number of times I've wrote it. always, and I get just as you've described, Shelley, I get so frustrated and annoyed myself because I think myself, why didn't I get the line right there? Why didn't I get the And it's about going fast, just being smooth around that bend. And there's one photographer who's always on a hairpin, and you know he's going to be on the hairpin. And yet I never get the hairpin right. And just really frustrates me. And I get down the bottom and you just think, I'm back up the bank. danny: Yeah. Audio: And you go back up and you do it great. And when you do it great, you always see him, he's already photographing somebody else. think, why not? It's amazing what you can do. Yeah, it's danny: Yeah, although not there. Audio: not that far from you guys. And we do need to kind of maybe do a meet up. And we will talk about your trip in August, which I think we're going to come and meet you anyway. But we'll come on to that. But yeah, I think to experience that, you would love it, Shelley. mean, Danny, you'll be behind, way, way behind, because Shelley bit absolutely. danny: Of course, yeah, I know, Yeah. Audio: I know always, you said you're always trying to keep up like, so I mean, know, the responsibility danny: That's it. What can I say? I've learned not to argue so I'm just going to... yeah, okay. Audio: lies with the lead rider. So, she should be waiting for Danny to catch up. Yeah. Yeah. I don't. I'm normally lead danny: Yes, exactly. not too occasionally. When you're bored. Audio: right. don't. Yeah. It's really strange with that road. What do we stood, watch that policeman come down on his RT. And he just, made it look so effortless. I'm thinking, it danny: Mmm. Audio: was just effortless. It was just, it was just like watching this integrity. It just, it was beautiful. It was really nice. danny: It's almost therapeutic, isn't it? And think that's a goal for me, know, Audio: Yeah. danny: like, especially at the moment I'm watching my Rossbert Instructure and Audio: Mm-hmm. danny: watching him just take these rows and Audio: Yeah. danny: it's just nothing to him and it's just so smooth and YouTube baby. Audio: Danny, I've heard about your ride. danny: Hahaha! Audio: What you don't realise is your Ross for instructors going to go and make this look really good. She's following me. So danny: I know that's what it is, I know. I'm gonna ask him, I've got a lesson tomorrow, I'll ask him. Audio: just want to pick up on a point you made a few minutes ago. So you said, obviously you were lacking confidence and obviously you've done loads of training, but you also mentioned about a change in bike as well. So Was it more the training and the practice or do you think it was you were riding the wrong bike? What do you think was the key? danny: That's a great question. It was probably a bit of both to be honest with you. So I've done two lots of advanced riding now. I did my first lot of riding with my Ninja 650 and I think after all of the training that I did, I was a lot more confident and we did a pretty big ride out as well, didn't we? We went to rest and be thankful and I absolutely loved it. Absolutely really confident, no issues whatsoever. Season then finished. and then sort of my confidence dipped again, changed bike and it dipped again, didn't it? And then I thought, I feel like I'm starting from scratch. hence why I've gone back to do more advanced riding. Although I have to say the one of the... biggest things I think that's made the biggest difference is changing tyre. So Audio: Yes. danny: even though I've got, obviously I've got the Triumph Street Triple 765R, but Audio: Nice. danny: the tyres that came with the bike, I don't think helped me very well. They squared off quite quickly. So I've actually... Audio: They weren't Bridgestones by any chance, were they? danny: No, they're Continentals, they're Tac4s. Yeah. Audio: Normally Bridgestone. So what tyres are you running now? danny: I've got road sixes now. Audio: What have you got on your bike Mark? Road sixes, what have you got? Road sixes, what have you got Andrew? Road sixes? What have you got Scott? Road sixes. Tom? They're the future. I think we danny: I feel like there's a theme here. Audio: can all testify actually how good the tyre they are. mean, I when I picked up my bike, I changed them within a matter of weeks. I had some Dunlops before all my life. You didn't like them, did you? I did not like them at all. And the Road 6 is made by Michelin for those that don't know. Absolutely fantastic. And they've changed the way all our bikes handle. And it's interesting, you saw right by tyres. mean, I've always had since the first bike is Michelin and they've just got better and better and better and better. I think that you hear people say, oh no, you should be using these tires. I don't want to change because I think I'm confident the tires got better. And that's the bit I think that when you do relax and stop thinking about the tires and even I remember going down to Wales, I'd just got my sixes on. I think I had them on about three, four days, did loads of what you call it. No, when you're thinking in, scrub it in, in, scrub it in. danny: Miles? Audio: And I wrote down. down in Wales and I was absolutely sore and wet and you know what I didn't think I can't do this and I was I mean the six what's that road that you can never the four eight eight. Mya's going to tell me off you know it's the a483 yes you know for if I think I'm right Newtown Newtown Road Newtown Road danny: okay. Audio: yeah and I remember absolutely riding within the speed limit obviously But I just felt confident because I trusted the tires, you know, and danny: Of course. Audio: even it was absolutely so good. so it's interesting that you've felt that actually danny: Hmm. Audio: with these tires, I do feel, you know, bit more confident. But do you think that whole advanced riding has changed the way? Hang on a second. want to know, Danny, have you got the road sixes on yours as well? danny: I did, I actually tried the T-33s. I wanted to be Bridgestone. I really enjoyed the T-33s, but yeah, I went for the Road Sixes, yeah. Audio: Do you think advanced riding has changed how you view riding then Shelley and we are going to ask you some questions Danny it's not the air Shelley show. She said to me danny: Hey, you keep asking, I'm happy chilling, I'm listening. Audio: make sure it's all about me. danny: Of course, it always is. I'm the cameraman. Yeah, in regards to the advanced riding, I think it has helped quite a lot. Audio: Mm. danny: But I also, I think it shows that I have always been capable of riding the bike and I am still, I mean, I like to think so and I don't think that you agree. that I'm okay rider, I can ride quite well, but do I do in the advanced riding? It just highlights, again, as I mentioned earlier, maybe those bad habits that you've picked up or little things that you should maybe just be doing that little bit more, that little bit better. So for example, for me, my observations should be a little bit better. Audio: Danny, do you want to maybe jump in here now? danny: Yes. Audio: Come on, there's clearly something going on here. So Danny, come on, your chance to shine. danny: Well, just briefly on that. I do all the editing and now we've started reviewing bikes. Obviously, Audio: Yeah. danny: when I'm editing Shirley's and she's not looking at the signs around her, I'm having to blur certain images. Audio: right. danny: Yeah, it's a lot. My problem is when I'm obviously we use the Cardo headset, so if we're talking, let's just say I forget what I should be looking at. I'm too busy nattering away. I can multitask. This is a very weird situation. It is Audio: OOOO danny: a very weird situation. It's OK, because he's not wrong. Yeah, honestly. He's not wrong. Audio: Yeah, sorry, one of the things that did made his life as Dunny said, riding together is stressful. And Shelley said, and I caught it's reassuring and comforting. danny: Is that what you said? Audio: Why does Dunny find it stressful? Why do you find this stressful? danny: Yeah. Do you know what? It's not stressful. It's bloody stressful. Do you know what it is? It's because Audio: But danny: I feel like I'm not just riding for me. I'm very aware. So Audio: Yeah. danny: I'm riding for me and I'm watching everyone for her and I'm watching her. what mean? it is a lot. It's very tiring. Audio: Yeah, yeah, just yeah. And is it also I hope she's seen that sign otherwise I'm gonna have to blur that out again. danny: Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know about these new cars and like you drive past a sign that comes up in your dashboard? We Audio: Yes. Yeah. danny: kind of do that, I just repeat it. Audio: Stop stop! Danny danny: Yeah, stop. Stop. Audio: do you think this whole riding together has strengthened your relationship? We can see the chemistry is fantastic and I did ask the question, hang on minute, who's proposed? We're not going to go there. danny: We're not. Audio: do you think the whole riding thing has strengthened your relationship? danny: 100 % yeah absolutely, especially like I've already told you about our first date but our second date was Shelly on the back of my CBR650R Aquapurvic exhaust, full system. Audio: You're proud about that one, don't you? Was it remapped? Did danny: Mm-hmm. Like I said, it was a nice bike. Audio: you get it remapped, Danny? Or did you just put the system on? Just put the system Half a joke. what danny: No. Yeah, I actually bought it. I'm not sorry. I tell a lie. I actually bought it like that. It had the AquaPilvac on when I bought it, but Honda installed it. So I don't know if they would have changed it. I'm not sure. Audio: do you think is the biggest challenge? of riding together other than, I appreciate what you're saying in terms of looking out for and that, but what do you think, are there any sort of challenges from riding together than other than what you mentioned? danny: that's a hard one. Any time. Where to go? Audio: we might be danny: Yeah. Audio: able to help you with that. Hopefully this one's not about us, it's about you guys. danny: You don't say! Audio: So tell us more about the St. Mary's Lock first date. What was the story behind that then? danny: Okay, yeah, yeah, go ahead. you're asking me? Audio: Danny! It's the Danny show now, come on Danny, tell us about that story. danny: I forgot. Audio: She said you knew she knew you'd forget. danny: was actually the first time Shelley backpacked me and backpacked the bike, the bike, not me, the bike, yeah. Let's clarify that. Audio: All right. danny: And yeah, what we were on about, St. Mary's Lock. Yeah, so we went to St. Mary's Lock Audio: Yes. danny: and yeah, it was beautiful, wasn't it? It was just perfect. It was just perfect. But then I ended up editing a video, right? Audio: Yeah. danny: This is our first video together, it's perfect. So there was Audio: All right. danny: a bit where she jumped off and we're up on this very steep hill. So I got on first and I said, right baby, come on, jump on. And she goes, right, okay. And as she gets on, she stops, pauses and goes, sorry. So I put Audio: you danny: a wind noise in between that. It was perfect. I never. It Audio: You didn't. danny: was perfect. People to this day still think that happened. They think it's real. Yeah. Audio: Now everybody knows it was. you said it was real. She's a keeper, Danny, she's a keeper. danny: It was kind of real. it was not real. It was not real. But yeah, luckily we found it funny, we? Yeah, but that's what said to humor. Like it was from the get-go. Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: Do you know what mean? Audio: Yeah. I want to know more. danny: Mm-hmm. Audio: I want to know about this London. No, the Land's End. to John O'Groats' ride, charity ride, tell us about that. danny: Yeah. So we are going to be doing a charity bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats. We're going to be doing it over five days. But we've decided to not hit any motorways. Audio: Hmm. danny: So for anybody that feels like they would like to maybe join us, they can do regardless of the bike that you ride. Of course raising money for two really important charities. So Andy's Man Club, which is especially meaningful to Danny and also Mental Health Motorbike. So we're going to be raising money for both of those charities, splitting the money evenly. Audio: Excellent. danny: and hopefully just bring us some awareness to the biking community and others. Hopefully the reach might, well, hopefully reach the wider community as well, but mostly to the motorbike community is what we're aiming for, just to highlight to people that it's okay to reach out, ask for support and Audio: and. danny: to talk and to highlight sort of what you're going through and yeah. Audio: Yeah, and Danny, thank you for being so open about Brotherton. If you don't talk about that, that's fine right now, because I understand why you're doing it and the impact it had on you and obviously your dad. Do you want to talk about that? danny: Yeah, I'm okay, yeah. Audio: Yeah, do you want to tell us a little bit about that? Because obviously, they're doing this charity ride and raising money for such amazing charities and the support that they give people who I think nowadays people are starting to really kind of accept that they can open up and that people are going to listen. which wasn't around years and years ago for a lot of people. danny: It wasn't. Audio: So do you want to tell us a bit more about that? danny: my brother was 26. He passed away. had the borderline personality disorder. Audio: Nice. danny: And the reason why went for Andy's Mind Club was because Audio: Mm. danny: my dad uses Andy's Mind Club. Audio: Right. danny: And so he goes every Monday to the local one. And yeah, so it's really helped him, especially for his, and I'll keep moving around. Sorry, I'm a nightmare for that. Audio: That's okay. danny: Yeah, but for his generation as well, he was very... Very closed off, Yeah, very closed off. So the fact that he's went somewhere where there's Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: a group of them and he's felt comfortable enough to go to speak and he's done that for, yeah, six years straight now. Every Monday, yeah. Audio: Fantastic, fantastic. And those those things can be quite transformational for people who do attend that because they do feel very isolated. And I'm really pleased your dad's doing it. You did a video, didn't you, about about that whole thing and it blew up. Do you want to tell us a bit about that? danny: Yeah, yeah, so it was my brother's birthday Audio: Mm. danny: and we went for, we just went for a ride. It was only a local ride and I think, yeah, I just started talking and I just happened to record at the same time. But yeah, we were just talking about how sometimes you feel guilty for not, you know. remembering them 24 seven or saying their names all the time. Do you know what mean? Keeping their memory alive and you know, cause life happens. So Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: you do feel guilty. And I was just talking to that about Shelley and then I edited it and I sat on it for three weeks cause I didn't want to post it. Cause I was like, I'm very, I'm opening up there and I felt a Audio: Yeah, yeah, yeah. danny: bit, it was weird, but then I thought, do you know what? You were being vulnerable. Yeah. And I'll just do it. And straight away, like I think the next day I had like a million views. Audio: Yeah. danny: and we had like five, I'm not even kidding, probably 500 messages. And Audio: Yeah. danny: it was, you know, lot of, mostly men as well reaching out and telling me their story. Audio: Yeah, interesting. Yeah. danny: And from that, we kind of decided, you know, we need to do something. Audio: What did that kind of give you that feeling about the motorcycle community? Did you expect that kind of reaction? danny: No, I never actually. No, definitely not. Because I think, yeah, Audio: we know. Yeah. danny: it was... I didn't expect the reaction to be honest. And it was lovely, but also at the same time, it was very, very overwhelming. Because a Audio: Yeah. danny: lot of people were reaching out and I loved that they were telling me their stories. But then Audio: Yeah. danny: sometimes I had to put the phone down because like it's... Yeah. You're getting very emotional, aren't you? Yeah. Audio: Yeah, yeah, overwhelming. Yeah, yeah. And again, a power, the power of such an incredible community. mean, we know there's there's good and bad in the kind of multi-site community, certainly online. But I think that for you guys to get that is incredible and testament to you to Danny for really opening up and doing something about that. And, you know, and the charity ride, I mean, literally, you're going to do it. Is it August that you're doing it? danny: again, August. Audio: Have you prepared for this by the way? Have you done it yet? danny: Yeah, so it's to be the 12th of August to the 6th. 11th of August to the 15th of August. Yeah. Audio: You're gonna catch up because she's going to be finished. danny: I'm gonna catch up. Audio: Yeah. danny: So a thousand miles, five days, and four bike nights as well along the route. Audio: And have you had, I mean, I've seen this on, on, on your socials about you've got certain things confirmed. Do you want to tell everybody what you have got confirmed right now? And danny: Yeah, so so far we have all the venues confirmed for the bike nights. Audio: Brilliant. Yeah. danny: So on the 11th, thanks Shelley, the 11th of August, Audio: Yeah. danny: it's gonna be at the Fox and Goose in Somerset. then Audio: Thanks. danny: the second bike night is gonna be in Mold, North Wales, representing. Audio: Nice. Good place. We've been there, by the way. danny: Yeah, do you know the old stores? The old stores, motorbikes, don't they? Yeah, we're going there. That's where we're having it. Audio: Yes. danny: And then the third one, sorry, will be in Carlisle at the KC Superbike shop in Carlisle. And Audio: Nice. OK. danny: then the fourth one will be in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Triumph, two wheels. Audio: Brilliant. right. And people can just turn up and come and and you are raising money, obviously, for the two incredible charities danny: Mm-hmm. Audio: to so they can can they can they donate online and can they come along and how do people get involved? danny: we have also created a page where you can register to say that you're going to be coming along. Audio: Excellent. Yeah. danny: Donation is just a suggested donation. So if anybody does want to come along, you don't have to necessarily donate. You're still more than welcome to come along. Everybody is invited, Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: not just motorcyclists, but family and friends as well. At the end of day, we want people to come and to share stories, talk to one another, Audio: Yeah. danny: find help, find support if they need it. But yeah, there is going to be an event page where people can register for tickets and or register to attend. yeah they can tell us which one they come into. Audio: I think it's great because it's an opportunity for people to connect, come together, share their own personal experiences as well, but also danny: Absolutely. Audio: to raise money as well. Have you got a figure in mind that you'd love to raise? danny: It was so hard, this was the hardest one I think. This is something that we have tried to discuss multiple times and we cannot settle on a figure. It's so hard. Yeah. We've set it to 2,500 and Audio: Alright. danny: the reason being as well, we've got brands getting involved in this. So each Audio: a nice. danny: bike night we're going to be having raffles. Audio: Yeah. danny: So we've actually got local companies that putting forward as well. Audio: Yeah. danny: yeah, and brands like Cardo, R &G as well. Audio: Yeah. So your target danny: Yeah, the sport bike shop was a lot. Audio: wouldn't be great if we if that could be doubled. Yeah. If you can meet that. So come on, danny: that would be brilliant. yeah, that would be amazing. Audio: guys, girls watching this video, get on board, sponsor, you know, donate, you know, let's try and have these guys smash that target. I mean, think I think we've had a very brief chat. I think we'll we'll be getting involved if you if you'll have us if we can support. Yeah. danny: Absolutely. As long as you bring your hoodies. I like your hoodies that you guys wear. Audio: Well, think, mean, the merch shop is now live. No, no, no, I think what we'll do, you said danny: Did I say that right? Audio: good, Thanks Danny. I think what we will do, I think we might be able to donate some things. think certainly in terms of some memberships, we definitely want to support it that way. And we've danny: That'd be awesome. Audio: been discussing potentially being able to get there as well. I think that would be for us. I think... I think we are going to be there basically. we are, we are, we are really danny: That'd be amazing. Love that. Audio: going to support you guys. I think what you're doing is absolutely incredible. And I think it's important as well. danny: We appreciate that. Yeah, thank you. Audio: This is our little Andy club as well. Because we, danny: Love that. Audio: yeah, we, we, for as much as we love motorbikes and we all live very close to each other as well. We all live in a matter of a few hundred meters of each other. Can't get away from each other. danny: wow. Wow. Audio: We spend and our families spend time together as well. And it's our it's we're the people that we all go to if we need a bit of a chat. And we all danny: Mmm. Audio: know if one's struggling a little bit, the rest will find out quite quickly. It's the case. Yeah. We will go meet at someone's house or we'll go meet and just do something. So it's really important. And it is. And we've all had things as well. We've all dealt with things. And Tom and I and I mean, Scott as well. In fact, we all have. You know, and It really is quite powerful. And we get out on the motorcycle and we'll soon as we put the lids on and run the bikes, it's a whole different thing. And we just relax into we have a bit of fun. come back with hyper and then we'll go to the pub. danny: Yeah Audio: then wife's like, should we make it now or go? danny: Yeah. Audio: But it is. I think this is why what you guys are doing seriously is phenomenal. And I'm so blessed that we're having this and you're on the podcast tonight. And I hope this goes. danny: thank you. Thank you for having us. It really means a lot. Yeah, we really appreciate you wanting to get involved as well. Yeah, it'll be brilliant. Audio: No, that's fine. So the links for all of this will be in the description. So if you want to donate or whatever you need to do to support these amazing people. We all looked a bit like over to producer Tom. Yeah, because he was giving us direction. danny: I've seen that, was like, are they looking at me? Audio: We get sore and sometimes some of us go off in tangents. Not me. We all thought Tom was having a moment and he may need to speak about something. Yes, Tom, you can go to the toilet. Normally he's got his danny: No, no. Audio: laptop on his lap and then he puts a message up on the screen and we go, right, okay, we've got it, but this time we haven't got it. So we're like lip reading. So let's go back to your social media and the influence that you guys are having because it is blown up and it's... It's so lovely to see, but do you think you describe yourselves as authentic and relatable? Was that deliberate from the start? mean, I know when you first started talking is that that's what you wanted to try and do, but it's very difficult sometimes to say, we're to try and be that. And you guys have been the way you've been all the way through. was it kind of deliberate or was it just come naturally? danny: It definitely just came naturally. think, yeah, we just kind of... It evolved over time as well. Yeah, we had a laugh to start with, Audio: Yeah. danny: you know, you know, doing little dances and things like that. I miss them. Yeah, I think we want, in the beginning, you know, we wanted people to see... our personalities to start with. We do like Audio: Yes. danny: to have fun. We do like to laugh. We do like to joke and we do it all of the time. But Audio: Yeah. Yeah. danny: I think over a period of time, our videos did just gradually evolve and we realized that people don't necessarily want to see videos of you in a helmet and not really know who you are. They want to know the real person, like who they're actually watching and who they're viewing. And we Audio: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. danny: did just eventually start taking off the helmets and actually showing who we are. We still have fun. We still laugh and joke, Audio: Yeah. danny: but Now you're seeing the real people. That was hard, Audio: Yeah. danny: I'm not gonna lie, that was hard. Audio: Who's the better dancer? Oh, it's gotta be Shelley. For danny: Mmm. I'm Welsh. I'm Welsh. Audio: those of you listening on Spotify and Apple podcasts, Danny's just pointed to himself like quite hard. He's danny: Yep, absolutely. Audio: flexing as well. danny: I ain't got nothing to flex me. Audio: Is that why you're wearing that big hoodie? danny: Yes, very big. We're actually on the same video. Audio: very nice. So Danny, where does the name Intrusive Writers come from? danny: This one, 100 % this one. The intrusive thoughts. Yeah. my Audio: Intrusive thoughts. danny: God. It is brutal. Remember when I said to you, there's some things we can post, there's a lot of things we can't post? Audio: So, Shelly, have you been sitting there looking at us thinking, I wonder which one's head's going to explode first? danny: I decided that within the first 30 seconds. Audio: Don't look at me. Nobody look at me. feel the eyes. need to danny: You Audio: know now. You're on the danny: Go on, Sally, which one? You! Audio: know, Shelley, you have danny: Yeah, it's me. Audio: a hectic life. know that Danny thought we were going to do a test during the day and I think you were wall to wall with meetings because you do a of calls on your new online quite a lot, which is I think why I think I asked you that would you be all right coming on camera and you're on camera all the time, aren't you? It really comes naturally to you. But danny: She's a pro. Audio: yeah, is it difficult kind of balancing that life and sort of commitment and the content? Because it is a lot of work involved in creating content that I think a lot of people don't probably appreciate. it? danny: Yes baby there's a lot of work. is yeah I mean when I've done a hard day's work and then I've got to be here and then I've got to edit all these videos. Audio: Danny, that was for you. was for you. But it's because you are hmm. danny: I mean, it is difficult. It is difficult to juggle. You know, we can't deny it. I we both have full-time jobs and yes, I work from home and yes, I'm on camera all the time. But sometimes, you you want to come off the camera and you want to switch off. when we know we've got things to record, things to do, you know, Audio: Yeah. danny: it's, yeah, it can be a lot. But, know, I am very fortunate that yes, I can be on camera and I'm quite happy being on camera. But yeah, the editing goes to Danny. I am very fortunate. Audio: Yeah, there you go. danny: Thank you, I was waiting for that. I was waiting for that. So yeah guys, I do the editing. Audio: You never mentioned it. So we've got a couple of guys and I was doing the editing. So Scott does editing, don't you? And Tom as well over there. And the filming part is I was about to use a phrase easy because we can have loads of cameras running, but then it just makes it more content to edit. So sometimes it's easier danny: Mm-hmm. Audio: to run fewer cameras and then edit it. That's why AI is great as well. Come danny: What's that? What's AI? Audio: on Danny. The danny: Ha ha ha ha. Audio: rest of us can edit. We just keep very quiet about it. I can't. I can't. I'm useless. danny: I'm still learning. still learning. I think what it is though, when we go out, we've Audio: Mm. danny: got four cameras. So two on our bikes and then two helmet Audio: Yeah. danny: cams. And then I've got the mics connected to each one. So then I've got to bring them all together and then make sure they match. Thank God for Final Cut Pro. Audio: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. How many cameras have People only see the final product of all, but they don't realize the hours of actually trying to capture the shot to start with. and then actually edited it so it's usable for people to view. And you might record 45 minutes, four hours, and you might only have a 30 second clip. That's taken up danny: Yes. Audio: to do it. And some people don't appreciate it. you hear that Shelley? Do you hear that Shelley? takes hours. danny: Do you hear that, Shelley? Did I not just say that all the editing goes Let me just turn this up. Audio: Did you know that Shelley takes hours? danny: I do appreciate it. I know how much effort goes into it. I am aware of that. Audio: So let's talk about motorcycle opinions because there's something I want you guys to discuss, chicken strips. danny: Mm. Audio: actual subject. I love chicken strips, particularly with fries. danny: Mm-hmm. So do I. I'm sponsored by KFC. Audio: Do you think the whole thing about like making this whole thing about, look, you chicken strips and do you sand it, whatever? Do you think like... danny: I think it's dangerous, mate, if I'm being honest with you. And that's just from experience. I remember when I first passed and I went out with a few lads and they were like, you're tooking strips. And I'm like, well, why can't I lean my bike more than the way they're leaning theirs? And then you end up pushing yourself to a limit where you don't need to be there anyway. Like, Audio: Yeah, danny: it makes no sense. Audio: Yeah. I've seen some pictures of Shelly's tires and she's got nothing on her chicken strips now. I think it's because of those twisties. danny: It is those swissies. No, no, we swapped tyres recently. Audio: Oh, another one. What's the one myth about bikers that drives you guys mad? Come danny: coming from someone that hasn't been riding that long, pre doing my motorcycle motorbike test, from a driver's point of view, you see sort of motorcyclists, know, driving along the road, you know, sometimes obviously driving really fast, maybe even filtering, you know, and maybe not necessarily riding the best that they probably should. And you just think that, what an idiot, they're being stupid, they're gonna end up hurting themselves, they're gonna end up killing themselves, they're really reckless. That really is a very, very small portion of the motorcycling community. Most people that ride a motorbike have hyper awareness of, know, Danny being a perfect example, hyper awareness of their surroundings and what they're doing. They are extra vigilant, they are incredibly safe on the road. So if there is going to be a myth, it's not that motorcyclists are reckless. In fact, they're probably far safer on the road and more aware of the road than most. Because we're not on our phones, are we? Audio: no, no. On our cameras. danny: Uh, well, unless you got the car pride. Have you got the car pride? Audio: Yes. danny: Hahaha Audio: But it's all voice activated. we're sorted. This whole voice danny: Yeah, some voice actors do that. Audio: Tell us about the NC 500 model camping trip. danny: Yeah, that was, it was a last minute thing, if I'm being honest with you. So it was creeping up. We were gonna go and just do the NC 500 for four days. We Audio: Mm. danny: didn't realise you need a lot more than four days. Four days isn't enough because the first day you're just travelling Audio: Yeah. danny: just to get there and then you're at the start point. But then I kind of thought, right, we haven't booked any hotels. We haven't done anything. I was like, do want to camp it? And then was like, absolutely not. And I was like, why? It's an experience. You get one with Audio: It's called the adventure. danny: nature and on the bikes. It's gonna be amazing. No, and I was like, I'll tell you what, let me see if I can get some decent gear. I'll ask the community what gear they use and basically made a video about how do I keep Shelly warm. And everyone messaged. It was amazing. Yeah, they're like, don't take her. Audio: Take it off. You said it was just in savage view. danny: No, that was a joke. That was a joke. Sorry. That was me being passive aggressive there. Sorry. Yeah. So basically I just can't stand being cold and shocked being a, you know, riding a motorcycle. But I don't like being cold. So for those that know me, you know that I really layer up when I'm out riding. I probably double my size when I'm out on a motorbike just Audio: Yeah. danny: through the sheer determination to try and keep warm. So when Danny said about camping, Yeah, it was just not on the agenda to be done, but he made it his mission to prove that it's a great thing to do. yeah, the Motorcycling Community has played a blinder, haven't they? And they really, really helped us out. Yeah, because we could have spent a lot of money on tents and gear and things like that. And Shelley might not like it. So we've actually got a lot of people have been giving us stuff to go camping with. So we've got a motorbike tent. sleeping bags as well. We have got loads of stuff. Audio: Shelly said she's got a motorhome. She didn't want us to tell you. Someone's done it. So if you're going around the course, they're following you. Danny's like, where's Shelly? It's a bit colder than you might have thought. danny: Well, the thing is, I told her that we have a tent, we've actually got a poncho. Audio: You could be a one with nature and all those... danny: Exactly, oh we will. Audio: 500 bidgies just like this post. Well, that sounds like a bit of a difference. danny: Don't mention midges, I ain't told her about that. I saw a video on midges for the first time the other day. Yes. Audio: and the West Coast of Scotland, they are known for it from June, well, for end of June to the middle of August. That's midgey season. We'll have to get them on the next podcast. danny: We'll have to do a live stream for you. We'll do a live stream so you can see how it's going. Audio: Like he we entertained Dunning and Shelley well, it's got the business. You'll definitely have to keep your lids on So that sounds like a bit of danny: Yeah. Audio: an Where do you guys danny: You Audio: see intrusive riders in five years? That's the big question everyone's asking. With an adventure bike riding channel. danny: That is a question. is a question. Do you know, with an adventure bike, potentially, potentially, where do we see it going? Audio: Yeah. danny: And I'm going to probably give a really boring answer, but I feel like you can't, you can't predict that. We're just taking it each day as it comes, appreciating, you know, what we've got, what we're able Audio: Brilliant. danny: to do at the moment and, and the response that we get at this moment in time. We want to live in the here and the now rather than thinking about the future. Obviously it'd be wonderful for us to, you know, experience, you know, new adventures, new countries, meeting new people. That would of course be absolutely brilliant. And hopefully that will happen. at the moment, yeah. Well, I've actually got a five year plan. She just didn't know about it. Is this where you propose? No, it's a... Audio: We were on a chat where we were like, hmmm, and you'd left the by that point. danny: You did, yeah? Audio: go on then, Andy. Come on, Andy. Am I doing it? I doing it? I doing it? Here we go. All right, hang on. Where are we? Where are we? go. Here we go. OK, so at the end of every podcast, we always ask a series of questions which we ask everybody. I'll ask is individually and you can give us your answers. In fact, we'll probably break these questions up for everybody to ask something tonight. So I'll start the first one, then we'll go over to Martin and so Danny, Danny, I'm really interested to know it to know if money was no object, what bike would you buy? danny: If money was no object and I could get my hands on it, hands down, it would be my dad's SV650S, 100%. Audio: yeah. danny: I've actually tried to buy it and he sold it to his friend. It's now a trap bike and he can't get in touch with his friend. So Audio: No. danny: my dad's friend, if you're watching this, let me buy it. I want it. Audio: He knows who he is and we need the bike back. needs to come home. Yeah. Yeah. danny: Absolutely. Audio: Yeah. Shelly, what about you? What bike would you buy? danny: So I would actually, like I mentioned at the very beginning, my dad's Triumph Bonneville 750, 1960. Audio: So yeah, my dad had one of those too. Yeah, I know exactly how that made me feel as a young man. So anyway, Martin, over to you. Great. Okay. So we'll start with Danny. Danny, who is your motorcycling hero? danny: So usually I would say my dad, because it was my dad that got me into the motorcycle scene. But my mum has just passed her CBT. Audio: Do you want to give her a shout out then other than mum baker? danny: Yeah, she's actually started to content. She is also on Yeah, motorcycle content. She's on Instagram. Yeah, she's on Instagram. Yeah. Yeah, Wrinkly Audio: No. she can overtake you guys. She's in Instagram. We'll have to give her a follow. danny: Riders, the name is, Wrinkly Riders. Audio: Why am I little bit suspect on actually searching that up on Instagram? danny: Oh, do it. it. Yeah. She's awesome. Audio: She's going to get five new followers tonight. is. We've got one more person watching the podcast. So Danny, your mum's your motorcycling hero. What about you, Shelley? danny: I would So I would actually say, and his head is going to explode, probably would, Danny would be one of them. no, I was only joking. No, no, It would be two people so of course it was always going to be my dad hands down Audio: Yeah. danny: you know he's the person that I would have and will always continue to you know want to do this for and I'd like to think that he is my guardian angel whilst I'm riding but in Audio: Yeah. danny: the here and the now you know Danny is the one that has really helped me from the beginning to help me through my motorcycling journey so he is my motorcycle hero. baby thank you. You're welcome. Audio: Yeah, that's that's that's lovely. Thanks for sharing. So favourite place to ride, Danny? danny: I'm going to say actually the one we've done recently, Glencoe, going up to Glencoe. Oh, I loved it. Loved it. Audio: yeah, was very nice. Did you go all the way up and come all the way back down and then go all the way up again? danny: No. No, we didn't. No. No. Right, is that what you did? No, we were actually meant to do a Audio: what? What? Did you just do it once? Have we done it once? danny: circle. We were meant to go down to Oban, weren't we? Yeah, so we were meant to do the big circle. Is it really? Oban. Oban. Oban. Audio: Auburn, my favourite place to pronounce Auban. He can't pronounce it. He can, he just gets it wrong. We were danny: you Audio: up there last year, spent a few days there. a year ago this week. Actually, we went up there and made it. Unbelievable. danny: It's beautiful though, isn't it? Like Glencoe is just spectacular and it's gorgeous. Yeah, we really enjoyed that, didn't we? Apart from the potholes. Audio: no, they laid out some new tarmac for us when we went. danny: did they? Audio: Yeah, the borough must be coming up for that. danny: yeah. Yeah. But that was a year ago, you said, wasn't it? Yeah, but was them GS's that ruined it for us. Audio: Are you sure you didn't go up Glencoe? You're supposed to speak to the road. danny: yeah! I'm Welsh, aren't I? Audio: What about you Shelley, other than the twisty that you talked about, or is that your favourite road? danny: Yeah, so that is one of my favourite roads. We did really enjoy Glencoe, but when I had my Ninja, we actually rode around Wales as well, didn't we? We drove up, well, drove up, rode up round through Abergavenny in Wales, you know, riding around all the valleys and everything. That was lovely. That's what my cousin is like. So, you know, it was tidy, yeah? It was tidy. Audio: Not far from where my hometown. Super. Lady. We went there, didn't we? We went there. So I think danny: you Audio: then he's about nine miles from my parents. Yeah. I'm a vision from Ebbw Vale. So there we go. There's a lot of Welsh people in Wales, mind you not that, don't you? Daniel's got it in the room. danny: Oh, no way. No way. I wonder, you might know my cousin then. He's a Jones. Yeah, it's just a Jones. It's not a popular name. Audio: Yeah, Jones Davis. Barry. Barry. Right, I got a question. danny: Barry. Barry. Audio: So this one's for Shelley first, because you've all gone for Danny first, so I'm changing it up. Favorite motorcycle danny: My man. Audio: accessory danny: Anything heated. Audio: Funny feeling, that was good to hear. danny: Yeah, for me, well, it could be multiple things, but if I want to keep warm, it's something heated normally, or my base layers. So I use ZeroFit for my base layers. Wonderful base layers will certainly keep me warm and will keep anyone else warm that is struggling to stay warm on their plate. Audio: Okay so I'm going to change the question now. Obviously the same danny: Mm-hmm. Oof. Audio: question but it's lovely and warm, it's sunny, you're not cold, what other accessory would you buy? danny: What other I mean, I do love my helmet as well. yeah. I do love my helmet. Yeah, in Audio: There we go. danny: fact, can, it's right there. You can see it behind us. It's right there, that's my helmet. Audio: Yes. Yeah. What, which, what brand? danny: So it is a Nex R3R Well done. Well done. Audio: so Danny same question to you favorite accessory danny: Ah, see the more editing I do, the more of a camera geek I am. Audio: Whoa. danny: yeah, cameras or audio equipment, yeah. I just love it all. So it's gonna be... Oh, Audio: So which camera? Give me a camera. danny: so if I had to, oh, okay. So if I was allowed... Audio: you danny: I would get the DJI Action 6. Yeah, I'll get the 6. Audio: Good camera. Just hang around a bit. That's all Danny, because we've got a member of the team that buys all of the cameras that are available. Then he sells them on what we call Scotty Klarna. So you danny: Hahaha Audio: can get them at a premium discount anyway. So just keep in touch because things will be up for sale at some point. You open his garage and it's like... danny: Oh, I'll be there. I'll be there. You didn't hear that. didn't hear that. Oh, I did. Yeah. What's that? Audio: From the drones. me just clarify that. drones? danny: For those listening on Spotify, he was referring to a drone flying up. Audio: I have four drones. Yes, I do. danny: Wow, have you? Yeah. You only need three. Audio: Yes. I've got one for every occasion. I need five for all of them. And we danny: I think that's next on the horizon. Audio: Where would you prefer driving the most course line or mountains? danny: definitely mountains I love a mountain I'm like a mountain goat yeah yeah yeah yeah can you ask that again I don't to let my country down Audio: Not a mountain sheep. So where would you prefer to ride mountains or coastlines? danny: it's definitely going to be the mountains, 100%. Audio: And where would that be, danny: No particular reason at all. Audio: What about you, Shelly? danny: Both for me. Definitely both. The you know, riding through the mountains especially around here as well absolutely beautiful, but I'm also a Coast girl I love sitting listening to the the sea and and the views that you get from the coastline as well So for me, I couldn't choose it would be both Audio: great. I think we've got some fantastic insights there. So do you want to, before we wrap up then, do you want to give us and the listeners and the viewers some shout outs to the people that supporting you, the kind of your socials. Do you want to give a shout out for that? danny: Now I mean it's shouting out to everyone that's supporting us. Every single supporter from the very beginning. Isn't it? From the very Audio: Yeah, good. danny: beginning. Every single follower but also every single... brands that have also supported us up to this point as well. we want, yeah, so you wanna shout Audio: Yeah. Do you want to give up? Do you want to give it a shout out for some of those friends? danny: them out? Yeah, I'm gonna ask a shout out to Cardo UK, Samara, who works at Cardo UK. She's a legend. She's the reason why we met you guys at the ABR. Audio: Excellent. danny: So, mm-hmm. You like that, didn't you? Yeah. Audio: He's getting good, we're just about wrap up, he's getting good. danny: Also ZeroFit and Sparda. Again, Audio: Nice. danny: we wear their base layers and their motorcycle clothes Audio: hosted. danny: with every ride pretty much, don't we? And light lock as well. Light lock also for our bike security. huge, huge shout out. cannot forget Edinburgh Triumph. So the guys at Edinburgh Triumph, Karen and the team there. They've been amazing. Audio: Yeah. And it's, and it's really pleased that you're doing the last bike a night at the Edinburgh Triumph as well. So I think that'll be fantastic. Yeah. And finally, yeah. danny: Yeah, I think that was important. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. Just to show our appreciation. Audio: And finally as well, just reminds of the two charities because the links will be in the description below. So we've got Andy's Man Club, knew the charity was. danny: mental health motorbike. Audio: So obviously we want people to go along and sponsor and let's smash this two and a half thousand quid. Let's smash it. Yeah. absolutely. danny: That'd be awesome. That'd be absolutely amazing. It will be split equally between both charities. Audio: So, so listen guys, honestly, from, from us, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy lives.
