God wants to spend time with you. And so it's an encouragement for you to go open your Bible and spend time with God on your own and let God speak to you. That being said, today is May the 7th and our reading today in the New Testament portion of our Life Journal reading plan is Matthew chapter 24. And I want to share with you today, ⁓ you know, honestly, as I was going through the reading today and preparing my journal entry, I had a couple different thoughts. And I wasn't quite sure which one to put on paper. And so I'm going to share one of them, but it might end up being that I share both of them. So we'll see. But here's where it starts. Matthew chapter 24 verse 45 through 46. Jesus is talking and Jesus says this, who then is a faithful and wise servant whom his master made ruler over his household to give them food in due season. Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Surely I say to you, this is verse 47 now, that he will make him ruler over all his goods. Jesus is talking right here about the end of the age. And if you go back a a couple of verses, a couple of passages, starting in about verse 36, and he begins to talk about when he will return. And And what he's saying here is that when the master comes, when Jesus returns that blessed are those whom he's going to find doing what he asked them to do. And he gives us analogy. He says, all right, so here's kind of, you know, the, the, scenario. Imagine you are a Stuart, you're an employee somewhere and your boss gives you an assignment or a task. The, the employee, the person, a part of the organization that's going to find favor. that's going to get rewarded, that's going to get promoted, that's going to get an increase. They're the one that when the boss comes back, he finds them doing the thing that they were assigned to do. In the same way, what he's telling us is that all of us, we've been given an assignment and we've been given commands by Jesus. Jesus is the Lord. Jesus is the master. He is the ruler for anyone. who's given their life to Jesus, we've surrendered and bowed our knee to him as ruler, to him as master. And all of us, we've been given the commands, the ways, the teachings of Jesus that we are to live our life according to. By the way, it's why it's a big deal. We spend time reading our Bible because we have to grow and increase in our knowledge and our understanding of God's ways. But all of us, we've been given the teachings, the ways, the words of Jesus. that we are to obey and follow. And also God has things individually for us that maybe he speaks to us, maybe he starts dealing with us and he gives us commands and assignment. Maybe it's a purpose that he's given us to fulfill on this earth. And his point is that those who will be blessed, those who will be rewarded, those who will see God's hand on their life, it's those who when the master comes, when the master looks, He finds them, He sees them doing the thing that they were asked to do. The other verse I thought about sharing was verse 42. Here's what Jesus says, watch therefore, for you don't know what hour your Lord is coming. Jesus says, you don't know when the end of the age is. You don't know when I'm coming back. No one knows except for the father. So you should watch and you should pray and you should live every day as if this were your last day. as if Jesus were coming back tomorrow. Live every day being mindful and aware because you don't know. And the thing that I thought about that, there's all my observation, here's my application. The thing I thought about today was, I doing what Jesus has asked me to do? Without getting all into the purpose and the will of God and the, let's just start basics. Am I walking in the ways and the commands of Jesus? I was talking to someone recently there, I just don't know what to do. Pastor Brandon, as I'm entering into a new season and I asked them, I said, well, are you already doing all the things that you're supposed to do? So what do you mean? So what you're looking for like, what do I do? And I want to know, are you doing what God's already asked you to do? Let's just go to the Bible. All of the commands, the teachings, the words and ways of Jesus, are you living in those? Because oftentimes God doesn't give us a new thing until we do the old thing. heard one pastor say, when you don't know what to do, go back to what you already know God's told you to do. And so my first application is just asking myself, am I doing what Jesus has asked me to do? Like just basic fundamental daily Christian living. Just daily fundamental basic walking in the ways of the kingdom. Am I living in the way that Jesus wants me to live? Secondly, the things that I do know that God's called me to. Am I doing those things? Am pursuing those things? Am I actually putting action to the things that God's put in my heart? And my encouragement to you today is check yourself. Check your own life. We don't know when Jesus will return. We don't know when the season of our life will change. We don't know when a new door of opportunity will open up and therefore we have to live in such a way that says every day, like, Like the master's gonna come and check today. Like the season's changing tomorrow. Like the door of opportunity is gonna open tomorrow. Like Jesus will return to, I'm gonna live today like this wise steward, like this wise employee, like this wise person whom when his master comes, he finds him not sitting on the couch, not being lazy, not procrastinating, but he finds him doing the thing that he was asked, commanded. instructed to do. Let's do what we know Jesus has asked us to do. At a basic level, let's obey and walk in the basic fundamental commands and ways of Jesus daily Christian living, but also the things that God has called you to do. The things that you know God's put your heart. I was talking to guy this past week. He's like, man, I know God's put it in my heart to write this book. And I'm like, bro, do it then. Do it. Stop talking about it. Just, just do it. God's, God's put something in your heart. just start moving, start doing the thing that you know God's asking you to do in this season. So my prayer today, it is that God would help us to do that. So let's just take a moment and let's pray together. Lord Jesus, I pray for myself and everyone who's listening and everyone who will listen. And I pray that in these moments, Holy Spirit, wherever they're listening today, whether they're driving in the car, whether at the gym, whether they're sitting at home, I pray in the name of Jesus that wherever they are, you would convict their heart. and you'd show them and remind them of things you've asked them to do that they're not currently doing. God, bring us through the correction and conviction of your Holy Spirit back to the basic teachings, the fundamental one-on-ones of daily Christian living, walking in your ways. Help us to come back to that, that you would find us doing those things, living in those ways. And I pray that God, you would help us. to be mindful and aware of what you're calling us to do in this season and that we wouldn't procrastinate another day, but we begin to do it. you would find us so doing the things you've asked us to do, empower us and help us by your spirit.
