- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh hey, Martin heads into this weekend with the twenty
- 0:03Speaker 1: four point lead, and this weekend also provides him two
- 0:07Speaker 1: opportunities to become world champion. And who better to talk
- 0:12Speaker 1: to about the Solidarity Grand Prix then my favorite two
- 0:15Speaker 1: mats in Moto GP, Matt Clayton and Matt Burt. Welcome guys.
- 0:20Speaker 1: How's it going? Matt tell us? How was your flyaway
- 0:25Speaker 1: rounds where you actually come down to outside of the
- 0:27Speaker 1: world for once.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it was awesome to be well, awesome to
- 0:30Speaker 2: be with you for start. It's awesome to be back
- 0:32Speaker 2: in Australia. I think I've said it a million times before.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Loved that part of the world. Love flyp Island once again,
- 0:38Speaker 2: we got under the cracking race and Mark Marker is
- 0:40Speaker 2: winning after all the drama on the start, and yes,
- 0:43Speaker 2: seven weeks away from moment, I didn't come back actually
- 0:45Speaker 2: in between Japan and Australia, I think that's right. So
- 0:49Speaker 2: my brain's so frazzled off that trip. I'm not quite
- 0:51Speaker 2: sure what all of the races actually came in, but yeah,
- 0:54Speaker 2: I stayed out for the whole shooting match and had
- 0:57Speaker 2: great fun. Not going to lie, it was a little
- 0:59Speaker 2: bit tying at times. But OK, hey, I'm not going
- 1:01Speaker 2: to complain. You know, I'm still being paid to travel
- 1:03Speaker 2: the world and talk about motorcycle racing. So yeah, it was.
- 1:05Speaker 2: It was awesome, great time.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Well, I don't know what you lot are complaining about,
- 1:09Speaker 3: because frankly, of those six races in seven weeks, five
- 1:13Speaker 3: of them were in a fantastic time zone for Australia.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So listening to all the Europeans like, oh, the races
- 1:19Speaker 3: on at seven o'clock in the morning, it's like, here
- 1:21Speaker 3: is a very small violin and I'll play you a
- 1:23Speaker 3: sad song because it was brilliant for us down here.
- 1:26Speaker 3: But Matt, the best part about what you said before
- 1:29Speaker 3: is that you know we've got this final round. Now.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I keep going to see say, Valencia as shorthand for
- 1:34Speaker 3: the final round because I'm so used to doing that.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I've got to stop myself doing that this week. But
- 1:38Speaker 3: we've got a live championship fight. But only just.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, only just I mean twenty four points going into
- 1:45Speaker 2: the final Grand Prix. It's a huge, huge advantage for
- 1:49Speaker 2: Joje Martina me. You do feel like you know this
- 1:52Speaker 2: will be one of the biggest chokes, not just in
- 1:54Speaker 2: moneys GP history, but in any kind of sporting history
- 1:56Speaker 2: for jo Hae not to get it over the line now,
- 2:00Speaker 2: master pretty simply he knows himself if he wins the
- 2:02Speaker 2: sprint on Saturday is world champion. Doesn't matter where Packer
- 2:06Speaker 2: Manuit finishes. And we know that Jogey is a truly
- 2:09Speaker 2: prolific sprint winner, so it could be history made. He
- 2:12Speaker 2: could be the first ever independencing rider to win the
- 2:15Speaker 2: matter GP World Championship in the modern fource show here.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And of course we've never had a world champion crowned
- 2:20Speaker 2: on a sprint Saturday. So personally, I think that Joey
- 2:24Speaker 2: will get the job done. I just cannot see that
- 2:28Speaker 2: Peko I don't. I wouldn't be surprised if Packer wins
- 2:31Speaker 2: the sprint and the Grand Prix, but I just cannot
- 2:34Speaker 2: see Jorgey stumbling this late time. And he's been so
- 2:37Speaker 2: phenomenal all season long.
- 2:40Speaker 1: That's one thing I wanted to ask you man, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: something that me and Matt Clayton I'm going to have
- 2:44Speaker 1: to get nicknames for you guys as we don't but
- 2:46Speaker 1: me and Matt Clayton talk about a lot is we've
- 2:49Speaker 1: noticed a massive change in Jogey Martin, especially in the
- 2:53Speaker 1: second half of this season. Obviously you're on the ground
- 2:55Speaker 1: a lot more than we are. But what has your
- 2:58Speaker 1: take been with jorgem mart team this year is is
- 3:01Speaker 1: he like a switch is flicked in and he's just cool,
- 3:05Speaker 1: calm and collected.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. I mean, I Thinky learns so
- 3:09Speaker 2: much from this very stage last year. Of course, he
- 3:12Speaker 2: was in the battle with Peco twelve months ago, all
- 3:15Speaker 2: a bit a little bit differently. I mean, he was
- 3:17Speaker 2: the chaser at the time, so a different scenario. But
- 3:20Speaker 2: I think if you listen to Jorgey himself throughout this season,
- 3:23Speaker 2: that that process of the hurt, the real heartache and
- 3:27Speaker 2: missing out last year. You know, at this stage last
- 3:30Speaker 2: year he said himself it was a living nightmare. He
- 3:33Speaker 2: was having sleepless nights. He wasn't enjoying it. The pressure
- 3:37Speaker 2: was just that massive burden on his shoulders. It was
- 3:39Speaker 2: too overpowering ultimately in the final reckoning. But you're always
- 3:43Speaker 2: looking at an athlete at that level to see, Okay,
- 3:46Speaker 2: well that was a situation they've gone through, they've dealt
- 3:49Speaker 2: with it, but have they learned from it? You know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: has it made them come back stronger, and I think
- 3:54Speaker 2: Jey is living proof that he certainly has. You know,
- 3:57Speaker 2: i'd have to say when you sort of see him
- 4:00Speaker 2: up close and first, like I doing his medi debreeves
- 4:02Speaker 2: certainly in the press commerences, if he is, if he
- 4:05Speaker 2: hasn't got any butterflies, if he has got any nerves.
- 4:07Speaker 2: We've said this on commentary. He's doing a phenomenal job
- 4:10Speaker 2: behinding it because he does look cool, he does look relaxed,
- 4:13Speaker 2: he does look very at one with himself and ready
- 4:16Speaker 2: to embrace the times this year, where I think it
- 4:18Speaker 2: was the opposite twelve months ago.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Well, what's so interesting with all of this is that
- 4:23Speaker 3: he's been just as good in the sprints this year
- 4:25Speaker 3: as he was last year, and he squandered the title
- 4:28Speaker 3: last year because of the Sundays, and there's just been
- 4:31Speaker 3: this unbelievable consistency within this year that when he hasn't won,
- 4:35Speaker 3: I think it's what fifteen second place finishes now and
- 4:38Speaker 3: thirty podiums at all. But I wanted to touch on
- 4:40Speaker 3: Matt probably this story that's been bubbling around and we've
- 4:42Speaker 3: known this since Migello when we knew that Martin was
- 4:46Speaker 3: off at the end of the year. It's funny. We
- 4:48Speaker 3: had this crazy early rider market, silly season, and everyone's
- 4:51Speaker 3: looked up and gone, oh, it's the last round of
- 4:53Speaker 3: the season. All these guys are moving at the end
- 4:55Speaker 3: of the season. The big subplot to all of this
- 4:57Speaker 3: is that if Martin wins the world Championship, he's off
- 4:59Speaker 3: to a with the number one plate for next year
- 5:02Speaker 3: in a season where do Catti's won basically everything except
- 5:06Speaker 3: for one Grand Prix. And yes, it's going to say
- 5:08Speaker 3: Jorge Martin Dukati as the twenty twenty four world champion
- 5:11Speaker 3: more than likely, but that number one is going to
- 5:13Speaker 3: be on a different bike next year. And I don't
- 5:15Speaker 3: know about how you feel about this, but I reckon
- 5:17Speaker 3: it's been an underplayed story that's not been talked about
- 5:20Speaker 3: enough that the guy that they bypassed twice to be
- 5:24Speaker 3: Peckaba's teammate is off with the number one. Do you
- 5:26Speaker 3: think that's going to be a story that comes up
- 5:28Speaker 3: a bit more this weekend once it dawns on people.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure it will do. I'm sure there will
- 5:32Speaker 2: be the questions asked of the Kati about you are
- 5:36Speaker 2: letting the world champion GP world champion slip through your fingers.
- 5:40Speaker 2: He's going to a rival brand. I mean, I'm sure
- 5:43Speaker 2: there will be questions asked. The Cati's defense obviously will be, well,
- 5:46Speaker 2: we're replacing Jegey Martin or we overlooked Tojy Martin for
- 5:50Speaker 2: a hate time's world champion in Marquez. I think what's
- 5:54Speaker 2: been a big factor this year. I don't underestimate this.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I mean Jorgey has not really talked about it because
- 5:58Speaker 2: he hasn't really been asked about it much. I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 2: let's not beat around the bush here. He was absolutely
- 6:04Speaker 2: devastated when he was when he missed that last year
- 6:07Speaker 2: for the factory ride. Let alone this year. You know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: he was convincing. I mean, I remember we arrived in Magello.
- 6:13Speaker 2: All the Italian media, senior Italian media had gone with her.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Martin's got the Factory, the catty ride alongside Bang Night.
- 6:20Speaker 2: So you know Jorge was reading those headlines. He was
- 6:22Speaker 2: convinced himself that that was going to happen. So then
- 6:24Speaker 2: to have it all snatched away in the very same weekend,
- 6:29Speaker 2: don't discount just how much he has used that as
- 6:33Speaker 2: a powerful motivating tool. You know, that was a proper
- 6:37Speaker 2: rocket up all his backside. So to speak, because yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 2: he wanted to have proved to the catty. You know,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you're you're letting me go a guy that's won a
- 6:44Speaker 2: whole bunch of races for you. They're going to win
- 6:45Speaker 2: the championship potentially for you this year. So that was
- 6:48Speaker 2: a huge motivation for Halla this season, and it looks
- 6:51Speaker 2: like it's all pointing towards him. Yeah, taking that number
- 6:54Speaker 2: one play over to a priller, which will which will
- 6:56Speaker 2: hurt the catty.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm really curious to hear or what you guys. Both
- 7:01Speaker 1: of you have to think about the results this weekend.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I know, Matt, you' att Bert sorry you touched on
- 7:06Speaker 1: that earlier, but you said that you know Peco could
- 7:08Speaker 1: potentially win both these weekend. I want to hear from you, guys,
- 7:13Speaker 1: what do you think is the possible outcome or more
- 7:16Speaker 1: likely to happen on Saturday's Sprint and Sunday's Grand Prix.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Because we know that Jogey and Peco they're going to
- 7:22Speaker 1: be strong here on those GP twenty fours. But we
- 7:25Speaker 1: also know earlier this year Elish was strong in the sprint.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Mark Marquez he might be going for that final victory
- 7:31Speaker 1: before he moves up to the Factory Ride. So Matt Burt,
- 7:36Speaker 1: let's start with you. What do you think is going
- 7:38Speaker 1: to be the outcome on Saturday's sprint? Then where do
- 7:41Speaker 1: you think Peco and Jorge are going to place?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Ah, that's a tough one. I mean, we obviously got
- 7:46Speaker 2: a factor in the conditions this weekend. I mean we're
- 7:49Speaker 2: in mid November in Barcelona. It's still probably pleasant on
- 7:52Speaker 2: that part of the Mediterranean coast, but certainly not as
- 7:55Speaker 2: hot as it was in May, so that will be
- 7:58Speaker 2: a factor. A lot a lot cooler condo, and there's
- 8:00Speaker 2: a couple of real nihly tricky corners in Catalouony which
- 8:04Speaker 2: which can catch you up. Just look back in mate,
- 8:06Speaker 2: Pecker Bangyaya last lap of the sprint, absolutely cruising to
- 8:10Speaker 2: the victory and crashed at turn five. You know, this
- 8:14Speaker 2: is as high pressure as it gets for Pecka in
- 8:16Speaker 2: some respects although I suppose it's a double edged sword.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It at this pressure because he knows he has to
- 8:22Speaker 2: go and win both the sprint and the Grand Prix
- 8:24Speaker 2: to have any chance to win the championship. But also
- 8:27Speaker 2: he's kind of relieved of a bit of pressure because
- 8:30Speaker 2: it's win or bust. Isn't it. You know, he knows
- 8:32Speaker 2: what the score is. As I mentioned earlier on, I
- 8:34Speaker 2: can see Pecker winning both the Sprint and the Grand Prix.
- 8:36Speaker 2: But what I cannot see is Jorge losing twenty four
- 8:40Speaker 2: twenty five points, which he needs to. You know, there's
- 8:43Speaker 2: been bad weekends for the way this season, but I
- 8:46Speaker 2: just think now he's a different beast, a different animal
- 8:49Speaker 2: compared to last year. And as I mentioned, I think
- 8:52Speaker 2: Martin has its seven sprint wins so far this year
- 8:55Speaker 2: to Peko's at six. He was the sprint king in
- 8:58Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, wasn't it? Haway Martin? So I'm sure
- 9:01Speaker 2: Hauey would love nothing more. You'll sleep a lot better
- 9:04Speaker 2: on Saturda night if he's alreadyon the championship after the sprint.
- 9:06Speaker 2: So I think Jorgey probably can take a little bit
- 9:09Speaker 2: more of a risk as well if he wants to
- 9:11Speaker 2: win the sprint and get it done and dusted. But yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I like you say, Rennie. So there's lots of other
- 9:17Speaker 2: factors to play in. Elijah Spigro super strong in Barcelona,
- 9:21Speaker 2: looking for a really happy fun farewell to a prillier,
- 9:24Speaker 2: Mark Marquez and a BASTIENI are the names that you
- 9:28Speaker 2: have to factor in as well. That could be a
- 9:30Speaker 2: little bit of a flies in the ointment.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I think for me, I'll be really curious to see
- 9:36Speaker 3: if Jorgey is able to sort of stay as the
- 9:39Speaker 3: new Jorge in that he's ridden a certain way to
- 9:42Speaker 3: get himself into this position, primarily in the sprints on
- 9:45Speaker 3: the Saturday. And so maybe you you know you play,
- 9:49Speaker 3: you don't play the school board. You play the game
- 9:51Speaker 3: that's in front of you. And I could see him
- 9:54Speaker 3: maybe not first three laps of Malaysior level of aggression,
- 9:57Speaker 3: but because otherwise your voice lod not survive until Sunday.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Mat I can see Jujo Bee's super aggressive in the
- 10:02Speaker 3: sprint because it's what's got him here. And okay, if
- 10:07Speaker 3: you don't, you've got to know when to back off
- 10:09Speaker 3: in that situation. But if you go and get it
- 10:11Speaker 3: done on Saturday by being who you've been on Saturday
- 10:14Speaker 3: for the best part of two years, that's almost the
- 10:16Speaker 3: best way for him to deal with this pressure, because yeah,
- 10:19Speaker 3: he's got this huge points advantage. And even if you
- 10:21Speaker 3: know Banyai was to win the sprint March, he was
- 10:23Speaker 3: to finish second, it's still twenty one on Sunday. It's
- 10:25Speaker 3: a big gap, but it does add that little variable.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Like you're talking about track conditions, but you know turns
- 10:31Speaker 3: two and five they're super sketchy. You just need one
- 10:34Speaker 3: little wobble on the Sunday and then you've got problem.
- 10:37Speaker 3: And it's all very well to say that he's kept
- 10:38Speaker 3: his composure, but you don't want that thing to go
- 10:41Speaker 3: to Sunday and you are wide on lap one and
- 10:43Speaker 3: you're sixth and you've got a bit to do all
- 10:46Speaker 3: of a sudden. So it wouldn't surprise me if he
- 10:48Speaker 3: goes pretty hard on Saturday to try and win it,
- 10:51Speaker 3: then to get it done, just to remove any last
- 10:54Speaker 3: bit of hope that Banyai has got. But I think
- 10:57Speaker 3: the thing for me, Matt, I don't know about you,
- 10:58Speaker 3: but the thing for me is I don't reck and
- 11:00Speaker 3: there's enough guys really stickly who can get between the
- 11:03Speaker 3: two of them to make it a real fight. I
- 11:06Speaker 3: dont think we're going to see the old Jollge loren
- 11:08Speaker 3: So Valencia twenty thirteen three backs everyone up and we
- 11:12Speaker 3: have a race that we probably shouldn't. But it wouldn't
- 11:15Speaker 3: surprise me at all if Martine goes for it on
- 11:17Speaker 3: Saturday and then deals with it from there because it's
- 11:19Speaker 3: it's what's got in here.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Really, Yeah, And I think Jojeyes's approach will be I mean,
- 11:23Speaker 2: it's very easy for us to stay from the sidelines.
- 11:25Speaker 2: He's going to have to treat it like a normal weekend,
- 11:28Speaker 2: or as normal as it possibly can be when you
- 11:29Speaker 2: when you're literally what twenty four to forty eight hours
- 11:31Speaker 2: away from a prize you've worked your own entire life
- 11:34Speaker 2: or but I think we saw in that Malaysian Grand
- 11:36Speaker 2: Prix and Tapang. I've spoken to so many people since
- 11:39Speaker 2: and that they could not believe the amount of risk
- 11:42Speaker 2: that Jorgey was taking to engage with Pecker because at
- 11:46Speaker 2: that stage, I mean, Peco's got nothing to lose. He
- 11:48Speaker 2: has to win and hope that there's bikes between himself
- 11:51Speaker 2: and Hallway. Haye could have just perfectly happily sat on
- 11:55Speaker 2: Peco's rear tire, kept the pressure and Hi maybe hoping
- 11:58Speaker 2: that Pecko woil making mistake. He certainly have to be
- 12:00Speaker 2: like going full send die bombing him everywhere. In those
- 12:03Speaker 2: first three or four that the thing it showed, you know,
- 12:05Speaker 2: that Jorge's mentality is like, I have to race as
- 12:10Speaker 2: the normal Joge Martine. If I start thinking about the challenge,
- 12:12Speaker 2: I started thinking about backing off episode slightly. That's when
- 12:15Speaker 2: you lose your concentration. That's when the mistakes creep in.
- 12:18Speaker 2: He's going to just keep himself fully focused and in
- 12:21Speaker 2: that zone and do everything that he's done in the
- 12:22Speaker 2: previous nineteen Grand Prix, because that's what's going to mean
- 12:25Speaker 2: to this position. You know, I think he's like you
- 12:28Speaker 2: said as well, Matt, I mean, it's gonna be fascinating
- 12:30Speaker 2: this weekend because I think a lot of people in
- 12:32Speaker 2: Malaysia thought that bang Yay might play a bit more
- 12:36Speaker 2: of a tactical race, a bit more of a strategic
- 12:38Speaker 2: race where he was gonna if he got the front,
- 12:41Speaker 2: which he did, do maybe slow the pace, try and
- 12:44Speaker 2: bring the likes of BASTIENI and Mark Marquez into contention.
- 12:47Speaker 2: But afterwards, so I asked him about that. Actually he said,
- 12:50Speaker 2: I'm not that kind of rider. It's just not the
- 12:52Speaker 2: way that I like to approach it. But this weekend
- 12:55Speaker 2: it was kind of weird because in Malaysia he said,
- 12:56Speaker 2: I'm not going to do that. I'm not that kind
- 12:57Speaker 2: of riding and in the press conquence straight afterward he
- 12:59Speaker 2: was in Cataluna. I need help from and Mark. Well, really,
- 13:05Speaker 2: as you say, Matt, the only way that he's able
- 13:07Speaker 2: to do that is if he does back up the
- 13:10Speaker 2: field and slow down the place. Because at the moment,
- 13:12Speaker 2: whether it's been wet, dry, scorching hot, pouring down Moraine,
- 13:17Speaker 2: Pecaban and Juwe and Martina been head and showers with
- 13:19Speaker 2: everybody else so far this season, you know, and I
- 13:22Speaker 2: think it's going to be a tough ass to see
- 13:23Speaker 2: the likes of Anna and Mark run with him in
- 13:25Speaker 2: those two at the peak of their powers again this weekend.
- 13:29Speaker 1: How do you think Peco is going into this weekend?
- 13:34Speaker 1: We call him the Professor, which a lot of people do,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and we see Peco really analyzing every situation right. And
- 13:41Speaker 1: one thing that myself and Matt Clayton have spoke about
- 13:44Speaker 1: on this pod is it seems like the last few weekends, Friday,
- 13:49Speaker 1: Peco isn't himself. He looks a bit agitated, and Saturday
- 13:53Speaker 1: is qualifying in the sprint. He doesn't look like himself
- 13:57Speaker 1: on the bike, but then Sunday something clicks and he
- 13:59Speaker 1: becomes a whole different person. Do you think this weekend
- 14:03Speaker 1: him coming in because obviously we've had the change of
- 14:06Speaker 1: the circuit. We know he likes to be in control.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Is this playing into his favor or do you think
- 14:12Speaker 1: that he is just going to send it like you said,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think it wasn't Malaysia.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think that's it. That's his only option,
- 14:19Speaker 2: isn't it. You know, he knows deep down and anything
- 14:23Speaker 2: less than victory in the Sprint and the Grand Prix
- 14:26Speaker 2: is probably going to end his reign as world champion.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I think we've seen that the agitation of frustration from
- 14:32Speaker 2: Peco creeping in a little bit more when things haven't
- 14:34Speaker 2: gone his way on Fridays, because in his own words,
- 14:37Speaker 2: he's called this the Championship of Mistakes, and some of
- 14:40Speaker 2: the mistakes that he has made at real critical times
- 14:43Speaker 2: of the season now are really going to bite him hard,
- 14:47Speaker 2: you know. I mean it seems really weird to say,
- 14:50Speaker 2: doesn't it. Like a guy that's won ten Grand Prixs
- 14:53Speaker 2: potentially wins eleven Grand Prix in the season and does
- 14:56Speaker 2: not win the World Championship. I mean, this is unprecedented territory.
- 14:59Speaker 2: This is tag that Peco does not want to be
- 15:01Speaker 2: labeled with for his career, but it certainly looks like
- 15:04Speaker 2: that will be the case. I mean, all Peco can
- 15:06Speaker 2: do is go out there and do his job, folks
- 15:10Speaker 2: on himself. He can't really worry about what HOWI Martin's
- 15:13Speaker 2: in because he knows that if he wants to, can
- 15:16Speaker 2: just follow him home. In both the Sprint and the
- 15:18Speaker 2: Grand Prix. I think Peco's got one goal and one
- 15:21Speaker 2: mission only that is to somehow find a way to
- 15:24Speaker 2: win the Sprint, which he's one six this year. It's
- 15:27Speaker 2: never been sort of class as his forte and I
- 15:29Speaker 2: think he said himself once again in Malaysia, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 2: if he could change one thing about matter GP, it
- 15:34Speaker 2: would be the sack off Saturdays. He just hates the
- 15:36Speaker 2: sprint and see he just does not like it at all.
- 15:40Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, a guy that's won ten Sunday
- 15:42Speaker 2: Grand Prix is still twenty four points behind in the championship.
- 15:46Speaker 2: He seems very very strange to say, but that's clear
- 15:48Speaker 2: proof of the fact that he has dropped the ball
- 15:51Speaker 2: on too many occasions this year eight DNFs. I think
- 15:53Speaker 2: only Juan mir Honda has had more dns. We know
- 15:56Speaker 2: what a terrible time Juan's having at HRC. It's really
- 16:01Speaker 2: really gonna hurt back O this year.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I feel sorry for the graphics department having to put
- 16:06Speaker 3: the Joan Mere crash Rider Okay graphic up every a
- 16:11Speaker 3: couple of times every weekend. But you mentioned before that
- 16:14Speaker 3: you know we're going to be at Cashaloudier and it's
- 16:16Speaker 3: the site of you know, one of these dnf CD
- 16:19Speaker 3: he's had this year from you know, an unforced ere
- 16:21Speaker 3: you might say. And we're talking before about potentially backing
- 16:24Speaker 3: the pack up. I reckon this is another variable that
- 16:27Speaker 3: might go against Spanyay here because Valencia at this time
- 16:31Speaker 3: of year, it is a track just because of its
- 16:33Speaker 3: layer and the nature of it that you can do
- 16:35Speaker 3: the whole hey Lorenzo twenty thirteen tactic and back people up.
- 16:38Speaker 3: But you think of what that castaloud your layout is like, Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 3: you've got those two lefts that we were talking about,
- 16:43Speaker 3: You've got this whacking great front straight. That's a really,
- 16:46Speaker 3: really hard layout to play with the rest of the field,
- 16:49Speaker 3: particularly if you're talking about GP twenty fours in the pack.
- 16:52Speaker 3: It's you know, Valencia has got that short front straight.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It's not a massive factor in terms of how you
- 16:57Speaker 3: can run a race. Tactically, We've not had the potential
- 17:01Speaker 3: for a strategic race like this in Barcelona. It doesn't
- 17:03Speaker 3: tend to happen, even at the earlier part of the
- 17:06Speaker 3: year when it's baking hot. So I think that's another
- 17:08Speaker 3: factor that's going to play against Peco because, as you said,
- 17:11Speaker 3: reallyd like Picko likes as few variables as possible. If
- 17:14Speaker 3: you held every race weekend in the laboratory with benign
- 17:17Speaker 3: whether and everything's the same the whole way through, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 3: Pecker will just build, build, build, build build, get to
- 17:22Speaker 3: Sunday win.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 17:23Speaker 3: That's when there's variables. Yeah, it's when there's variables that
- 17:26Speaker 3: I think he gets in trouble.
- 17:27Speaker 2: And these guys are the very best in the world
- 17:29Speaker 2: because they hate to rely on external factors. They want
- 17:33Speaker 2: to be in control of everything themselves. It's all about
- 17:36Speaker 2: them getting the job done for themselves. You know, Pecker
- 17:39Speaker 2: Band is not going to be going at this weekend thinking, well,
- 17:42Speaker 2: I'm looking for favors from an A, I'm looking for
- 17:44Speaker 2: favors from Mark, Yeah, because they're they're factors that he
- 17:48Speaker 2: cannot control. He's got no control over how Mark, how
- 17:52Speaker 2: Anya performed this weekend. And I don't think that's a
- 17:55Speaker 2: situation that any rider likes, but in particular Pecker. I
- 17:58Speaker 2: think he's a ride that really likes to be in
- 18:01Speaker 2: control of his own situation, in control of his own destiny,
- 18:05Speaker 2: and he knows pretty much that's outside of his hands.
- 18:07Speaker 2: This weekend, let's.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Touch on the next battle in the championship, the battle
- 18:14Speaker 1: for third between Mark Marquez and Annea Bashinini. And I'm
- 18:18Speaker 1: really curious to hear both your opinions on this because
- 18:22Speaker 1: I have this idea in my head that Anaya is
- 18:26Speaker 1: not going to be happy if Mark does beat him
- 18:29Speaker 1: for third, now that Mark is taking his ride at
- 18:32Speaker 1: a do Caddie. But I don't know what Mark's going
- 18:36Speaker 1: to do this weekend. Is he going to try and
- 18:38Speaker 1: go for one last win on his Grissini before he
- 18:41Speaker 1: does move up to the factory, or is he going
- 18:43Speaker 1: to let the whole championship situation play out. I'm really
- 18:46Speaker 1: curious to see. But what what's your opinion on that, Matt.
- 18:50Speaker 2: But maybe we'll just we'll have to our rap names
- 18:56Speaker 2: be a Matt scene next time pot names. I think
- 19:04Speaker 2: Mark is going to be going all in for that big,
- 19:06Speaker 2: last final hurrah with Graisini racing. I mean Mark, he's
- 19:10Speaker 2: a born winner, is a serial winner. That's in his DNA.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I think Mark will be just going all out for
- 19:17Speaker 2: the victory. He's not going to give one IoT. He's
- 19:21Speaker 2: not going to care one bit about the championship. I
- 19:23Speaker 2: don't think. I mean, I think if he's racing closely
- 19:25Speaker 2: with Martin and Bangyi, and then of course he will
- 19:28Speaker 2: show them respect and maybe he will think twice about
- 19:32Speaker 2: making one of his typical hard moves. But I think
- 19:36Speaker 2: if there's an opportunity that presents himself and Mark to
- 19:38Speaker 2: win this weekend, well he's that kind of guy that's
- 19:41Speaker 2: not going to pass it up. It's just not not
- 19:43Speaker 2: in his nature at all. So I think, yeah, I could.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I couldn't agree more. I thought, it's funny, Matt, you're
- 19:51Speaker 3: suggesting that Mark might get himself involved in a championship.
- 19:54Speaker 2: He can't.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Actually, we've just been him. We've just been him. We
- 19:57Speaker 3: don't need to go back there.
- 19:58Speaker 2: But you know what, when when his first three laps,
- 20:01Speaker 2: three or four laps in Zapang and this little sort
- 20:03Speaker 2: of demon on my shoulder kept sort of thinking Sapang
- 20:06Speaker 2: twenty fifteen, I was like, no, no, don't don't go
- 20:08Speaker 2: with there. Do not mention that in country what.
- 20:11Speaker 3: You well, I think I think we're contractually obligated to
- 20:16Speaker 3: mention it every single podcast. But the interesting thing for
- 20:18Speaker 3: me with the best KNOWNI Marquez thing is that I
- 20:21Speaker 3: reckon it would mean more to best Needi to finish
- 20:23Speaker 3: their than it would finish for Mark. Obviously, Mark's won
- 20:26Speaker 3: six Premier Class world titles, but if Bestinini at least
- 20:29Speaker 3: manures to finish in front of the guy that's taken
- 20:31Speaker 3: his ride for next year, that would be some sense
- 20:34Speaker 3: of satisfaction. Doesn't keep he doesn't keep his job, surely,
- 20:37Speaker 3: but I think Mark will be keen to win the race.
- 20:40Speaker 3: But as to whether he finishes third or fourth of
- 20:43Speaker 3: the World Championship, there's only one position that Mark gets
- 20:45Speaker 3: out of bed for, and that'll be the one that
- 20:46Speaker 3: he's getting out of bed for next year.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, could couln't couldn't agree one. And I think
- 20:50Speaker 2: Mark Mircus himself is saying a CATALOONYA not really one
- 20:54Speaker 2: of his favorite hunting grounds, that that sort of fast
- 20:58Speaker 2: flowing layout never really suits is sort of aggressive, heartbreaking
- 21:02Speaker 2: riding style. There's a couple of heartbreakings on in Cataloonya
- 21:05Speaker 2: but not too many of them. And then of course
- 21:07Speaker 2: A Bastienini back in May, end of May, I remember,
- 21:12Speaker 2: and A went on his one mat self protest going
- 21:15Speaker 2: three where he got the penalty, didn't he for running
- 21:18Speaker 2: cutting the course at turn one and turn two and
- 21:21Speaker 2: then thought he'd give them back enough time, and then
- 21:23Speaker 2: of course he he went through the full range of penalty.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I think he got initially another long lab, which he
- 21:28Speaker 2: was like, no, I didn't know anything wrong, I'm cracking on.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Then it was it was a double long lab that
- 21:33Speaker 2: ultimately ride through and it was just yeah, A bas
- 21:36Speaker 2: GINI like sort of a last man standing against the
- 21:39Speaker 2: air play M Stewards because he just carried on, just
- 21:41Speaker 2: raised on. But yeah, I mean again, it would be
- 21:45Speaker 2: interesting to see if if Ay and Mark can get
- 21:48Speaker 2: themselves into that battle. The Catty have been absolutely insistent
- 21:53Speaker 2: all throughout proceedings that they're not going to interfere, They're
- 21:55Speaker 2: not going to intervene there. There'll be no team orders
- 21:57Speaker 2: as far as they're concerned. Now I'm not I'm really
- 22:00Speaker 2: sure I believe that. You know, you can imagine a
- 22:02Speaker 2: situation on Sunday if Peko's second behind, and they are
- 22:07Speaker 2: and Martin's further back enough for Peco to win the championship.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Then I think we might see the return of the
- 22:13Speaker 2: old mapping eight dashboard message, or mean, we might see
- 22:16Speaker 2: some single for him to ease alongside, because yeah, I
- 22:21Speaker 2: think if push came to show and there was a
- 22:23Speaker 2: situation where the Kattager keep that number one plate on
- 22:26Speaker 2: Bangy Eyve's bike, then they have to intervene. That's what
- 22:29Speaker 2: it's all about. Yeah, we don't want to see it.
- 22:31Speaker 2: We don't like team mourners, but I'm sure it will.
- 22:33Speaker 2: It will play a role at some point if that's
- 22:36Speaker 2: ni arise it.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Well, Matt, before we let you go, I have one question.
- 22:42Speaker 1: We know that this weekend, we know what the possible
- 22:44Speaker 1: outcomes are, but obviously you've got a busy weekend because
- 22:47Speaker 1: you have one day off and then you're straight back
- 22:50Speaker 1: to work for six hours or something. You were saying
- 22:52Speaker 1: for the tests after. Is there any particular changes happening
- 22:58Speaker 1: next year that you're really excited to see?
- 23:01Speaker 2: Wow? I mean, where do you start for twenty twenty five?
- 23:03Speaker 2: The so many exciting aspects for us to sort of
- 23:07Speaker 2: look forward to next season, I mean, yea, I was
- 23:10Speaker 2: just say the valency test on Tuesday made that mistake already.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I'm sure there'll be a few more of those this
- 23:14Speaker 2: weekend coming up. Yeah, I mean the test is always
- 23:17Speaker 2: it almost feels like it's Christmas comes early from by
- 23:19Speaker 2: the GP fans, doesn't because we get the first look
- 23:22Speaker 2: at twenty twenty five. I mean, the most obvious answer is,
- 23:24Speaker 2: of course, Mark Marque is moving to the factory, the
- 23:27Speaker 2: catty team, and just how that is going to evolve
- 23:31Speaker 2: between himself and Pekabanya. We've already seen them have a
- 23:35Speaker 2: couple of hard races, a couple of pretty controversial moments
- 23:39Speaker 2: this season in Porteramow and in Harass, and we know
- 23:44Speaker 2: that Mark's going to be He's a he's a ruthless
- 23:48Speaker 2: He's a ruthless guy. You know he won't care that
- 23:50Speaker 2: at the moment, that team is all about Pecker Banyay,
- 23:52Speaker 2: He's the clear number one. Mark's going to try and
- 23:53Speaker 2: get in there and russle feathers. That's what he's all about.
- 23:56Speaker 2: He doesn't care for reputations. I think I'll be fascinating
- 24:00Speaker 2: to see how Pedro Costa goes in a factory back
- 24:04Speaker 2: team I know it's me in the fact for sporty team,
- 24:06Speaker 2: but also with that experience under his belt as well,
- 24:09Speaker 2: so so many different aspects look forward to in twenty
- 24:13Speaker 2: twenty five. Yeah, and we get to talk about it
- 24:14Speaker 2: for six and a half hours on Tuesday, So hopefully
- 24:17Speaker 2: a few of you, a few of your viewers are
- 24:19Speaker 2: tuning in. More importantly, hopefully we get a full dry
- 24:22Speaker 2: day on Tuesday, Catalonia and there are actually bike circulating
- 24:25Speaker 2: it out on track.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Well. I know that Roniti is going to be tuning
- 24:29Speaker 3: in for a couple of reasons. One because it'll be
- 24:33Speaker 3: really interesting to see Jack Miller at a new address,
- 24:35Speaker 3: and two because she's hoping that christening this team Pramaha,
- 24:39Speaker 3: which he has been doing on every single podcast we've
- 24:41Speaker 3: done for the past six months, actually stick. So your
- 24:44Speaker 3: job now, Matt, is to get that in the comms
- 24:46Speaker 3: on Tuesday, be a bit of a trendsetter for us,
- 24:49Speaker 3: and it'll be trading on social media and a religial
- 24:52Speaker 3: sticking at the top of a CV. So there's your goal,
- 24:54Speaker 3: not a.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Problem, consider it already done. I will do that for you,
- 24:58Speaker 2: and I'll even give you a name check as well.
- 25:01Speaker 2: On the Life I won't take credit for it. I'll
- 25:03Speaker 2: credit the sauce. I'll make sure you've got the copyright.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And that one I actually love that one. What was it?
- 25:08Speaker 2: Prama tramah? Yeah, listeners, thank you.
- 25:14Speaker 1: We always say to our listeners drinking game. How many
- 25:16Speaker 1: times are going to say it? We should play a
- 25:18Speaker 1: drinking game? And how many times do you guys say
- 25:20Speaker 1: Valencia and not Barcelona this weekend as well, you might
- 25:23Speaker 1: not get to.
- 25:24Speaker 3: The end of six.
- 25:26Speaker 2: That's going to say. Yeah, you might want to start
- 25:27Speaker 2: off on tomorrow's juice initially and then work exactly.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I love it, Oh, Matt, thank you so much for
- 25:37Speaker 1: taking the time to come and chat with it myself,
- 25:39Speaker 1: and man, we can't wait to hear all about everything
- 25:42Speaker 1: that happens at this weekend. So all the best are
- 25:45Speaker 1: with this weekend and also Tuesday's test. Hopefully your voice
- 25:48Speaker 1: is still holding up by the end of that.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Thanks so so much, guys, Thanks for pleasure, join you
- 25:54Speaker 2: as always, and as we always say about this weekend,
- 25:56Speaker 2: let's hope that it's the best ride that wins.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. We can't wait to see you on track
- 26:03Speaker 1: action and if you guys listening want to watch everything
