- 0:01Take a moment to look at your YouTube history, to look at the podcast
- 0:05you've listened to, to see the time you've invested in audio content, video
- 0:10content, and education. Look at this in perspective with the game you have
- 0:17achieved. I'm just in hit with inside strategic relations. Lately, I've been
- 0:22reflecting on the distractions that have taken me away from the goals and objectives that
- 0:27I've have. Looking at my YouTube history, I'll see hundreds of videos over
- 0:31the last couple of weeks, even thirty forty videos a day of content that
- 0:37was often entertainment or distraction, sometimes even absurd, but it kept drawing me
- 0:45back into the content itself. I've contemplated many times of blocking all social media
- 0:52channels because I find myself sometimes getting pulled into the content, into the drama,
- 0:58into the political news, into the social issues that are have little l
- 1:03relevance on my own life. So I meditate and I think, what is
- 1:10an ideal life? What is it that I need to do today to move
- 1:15towards the goals and objectives that I have for myself. These are challenging questions
- 1:21you may want to consider yourself. They're challenging questions that help you gain influence
- 1:26over your own mind, over your own activity, over your own focus,
- 1:32and start to develop to yourself the behavior of peak performance. See, when
- 1:38you sit down each day, you have the same twenty four hours as anybody
- 1:42else, and some people achieve a lot and some people achieve very little.
- 1:46And what you achieve today, it depends on your intention, It depends on
- 1:49your focus. It depends on what you do with the day, not what
- 1:56somebody else does. Not the problems that come up, not the distractions,
- 2:00the obstacles, because all those things are going to happen for a variety of
- 2:04reasons that you can't control. Now, yes, it is possible that past
- 2:07decisions have set you up for failure. Past decisions may have set you up
- 2:13for distraction, Past decisions have set you up for frustration. But if you
- 2:19take those each day and respond to them appropriately, you can turn failure into
- 2:23opportunity, distraction into action, focus, growth, and get today as the
- 2:30start of a new outcome. Now, when we talk about outcome management,
- 2:36we have outcomes pre defined by our goals and our objectives. What does that
- 2:42mean? It means if you're going to achieve something today and you predesignate it,
- 2:46whether you're using a notebook, or you're using to do list, or
- 2:51however you're managing tasks. You've blocked out time during the day to do specific
- 2:54things, and you commit to doing those things, and you do those things,
- 3:00and you move towards a goal. Now, when you don't have a
- 3:02goal, anything you do is good enough. You know a lot of times
- 3:07that I'm sitting down and I'm watching a video and I'm learning something. I'm
- 3:09finding it interesting and engaging. Yet it's information I already have, Yet it
- 3:16doesn't contribute to the things I want to do today. Yet it's taking me
- 3:21away from maintenance elements like cleaning or dishes or anything else that really ought to
- 3:27be done, but it's not top of my list because I don't want to
- 3:30do it. So if we want to gain peak performance, we have to
- 3:35make decisions. And again, the history on your YouTube channel holds you accountable.
- 3:42Your internet searches hold you accountable. The time you spend in front of
- 3:46a computer holds you accountable because now you can see that it's not moving you
- 3:51towards the outcome that you want. You can use a journal to reflect on
- 3:54these things. Like I said, I meditate on this and I think about
- 3:58it when I'm getting ready to go, like, what are the achievements I've
- 4:00had today? What is the goal? What do I want to accomplish tomorrow?
- 4:03What is the outcome? What am I doing that can move me towards
- 4:10the goals and objectives that I want. I don't steal over wasting time.
- 4:14I do waste a lot of time, as many people waste time. But
- 4:17I'm slowly, consider constantly and considerately focusing my activity, focusing my efforts towards
- 4:27the outcomes it desires that I want. What's very important in this is that
- 4:32we have to know what we want. We have to know what the goal
- 4:35is. We have to know what the outcome we desire is, so that
- 4:40we can push away the distraction. See, the only reason it's distracting is
- 4:45because it has room to be in your life. If you have a full
- 4:48schedule, if you have meetings, if you have telephone calls, there isn't
- 4:53any room for these distractions. So what can we do each day? Well,
- 4:59first off, if we want a time block, we want to know
- 5:01what time we're going to get up. We want to know what time we're
- 5:03going to start work. We want to have some structure to our day.
- 5:08Now it doesn't have to be super rigid, but some structure to our day
- 5:12where we're going to get at least three key objectives done. Now, how
- 5:15do you know what the three key objectives are? Well, the three key
- 5:18objectives are going to be based again on that goal. I've written a program
- 5:24that's what do you want? How do you get it? And it's really
- 5:27about going through the exercise necessary to determine what is the key goal, what
- 5:31is the key objective? And then from their understanding, why is that the
- 5:35key goal? Why is that the key objective? And then based on that
- 5:40goal or objective, what is it that you want? The clear and focused
- 5:46definition of what you want. See, when you know what success is and
- 5:51you've carefully mapped out what success looks like for you, then you can move
- 5:57towards it. See, you wouldn't be distracted by criticism because you've thought through
- 6:00and you've developed a plan for the outcomes that you desire. Other people might
- 6:05criticize it, but why do you care? Why would you listen? You
- 6:11don't have time for those types of things. Your only objective is to move
- 6:15towards the outcome. Now, this outcome doesn't have to be financial. It
- 6:19can be family and relationship based. It can be learning a new skill that
- 6:26you will apply. It can be reading a book or a resource. But
- 6:30it's not falling towards distraction. It's not mindless consumption. It's not gossip and
- 6:39bickering and the latest political drama. Those things will happen whether you're paying attention
- 6:46to it or not. Yet, those things are not necessary to make decisions.
- 6:51It's fun to watch, it's enjoyable to watch. But we can find
- 6:58joy and achievement. We can find joy in the finer things of life.
- 7:01We can find joy in our good health, we can find joy in good
- 7:05quality relationships. Now, this self reflection is difficult, by the way,
- 7:12because sometimes you might say, look, I have accomplished anything today. I've
- 7:15had the whole day and nothing happened. Oh it was because of the rain.
- 7:18Oh no, it was because of the U I had to wait in
- 7:20line for too long. It's very easy to come up with excuses. It's
- 7:26very easy to distract ourselves. Again, when we have goals, we have
- 7:31direction those goals when they're worthwhile, we move towards success. When we clearly
- 7:39understand what success looks like, we can more easily know whether we're on the
- 7:43right track for success or the wrong track. Again, you can manifest what
- 7:49you want in life, but it takes focus and effort to define, plan
- 7:58for, and move towards where it's through activity to the achievement you so much
- 8:03desire. The results that you want can come to you now, and they
- 8:09can come to you quickly when you have this focus. Now with the Inside
- 8:15Strategic Relations Newsletter, we have a lot of folks that want to gain political
- 8:20influence, they want to gain social influence, they want to have better career
- 8:26paths, they want to be able to get more of what they want.
- 8:30This is where we run into the conflict where other we depend on other people.
- 8:35So now instead of spending time in front of the television, we're spending
- 8:39time listening to podcasts or spending time away from people. We need to invest
- 8:46in connections. So put some music on in the background, open up your
- 8:52laptop and start sending emails to people in your list. More importantly, have
- 8:56some cards and write little note in each card, and mail cards to your
- 9:01friends and to your family, to your coworkers and to your associates. Follow
- 9:07up on work that you've done previously in the week. There are small connections
- 9:13you can make because again, we gain the majority of what we have through
- 9:16other people. And so rather than having an isolated and distracted activity, what
- 9:22kind of activities can you do that connect Now, if you're distracted with your
- 9:26friends, you're hanging out at the country club and you're relaxing with your friends
- 9:31and you're having a conversation, that's not wasted time because again you're contributing to
- 9:35other people's lives. Other people are contributing to you. It's far different than
- 9:41sitting in front of the television because there's a shared experience. There's an opportunity
- 9:45for mutual influence and impact. This could be getting involved in social organizations,
- 9:50or getting involved in fraternal organizations, or getting involved in volunteer organizations. This
- 9:56gives you an opportunity to connect professional organizations. So now rather than being isolated
- 10:03in front of a television or isolate it listening to a podcast, or isolate
- 10:07it reading a book all alone, or isolate it surfing the internet mindlessly or
- 10:13running around on social media, you can actually be in social environments and cultivate
- 10:18interactions that provide access to resources, that provide access to new information that provide
- 10:26a constructive dialogue that help you reduce stress, that overall help you connect with
- 10:33people who can help you. This is the application of relationships or strategic relationships,
- 10:41and it's a decision between doing isolated activities versus doing activities with other people.
- 10:48Now, if you want to entertain yourself or listen to a podcast,
- 10:54or mutually educate each other, you can do that in a group. You
- 10:58can have a watch party. Hey, folks, come on over Friday night.
- 11:01We're gonna watch a movie. We're going to share some conversation, we're
- 11:05going to share some good food. Hey, folks, I'm learning from this
- 11:09podcast. So, for example, I don't know of any situation right now
- 11:15where there are listening parties. But if there is a few people who got
- 11:20together listen to a podcast and then wrote a little bit about that or had
- 11:24a discussion about that podcast, that that time is going to increase in quality.
- 11:30That time is going to have more depth to it. That time is
- 11:33going to give you the opportunity to learn a little bit more about what your
- 11:37topic you're covering, and you're going to get better results. You're gonna get
- 11:41more connections, you're going to get better outcomes. So let's summarize. If
- 11:48you've ever looked at your YouTube history, you've ever looked looked at the list
- 11:52of podcasts you've listened to, you know those activities are distracting from the focused
- 11:58activities they get you the results you're looking for. Now. There's nothing wrong
- 12:03with listening to something while you're driving down the road or when you couldn't use
- 12:07the time otherwise. Yet are you listening to one program after another and not
- 12:13even remembering the one that you've got, the one you listen to already.
- 12:18So don't be afraid of the silence, because that again is going to be
- 12:22that reflective state, that state where you can look at your habits and look
- 12:26at your investment of time and then reorient yourself. But also the times that
- 12:33you can connect with other people so that you can advance relationships, those have
- 12:37greater value than the unlimited number of distractions that are available today. If you
- 12:43have challenges with distraction, and I admit I have those challenges myself, we
- 12:50have a coaching program available that can help you with accountability. It can help
- 12:54you with planning. A lot of the resources I have, I'll sit down
- 12:58with a client, sit down with the coaching of course, a coaching client
- 13:01and we'll go through a course and we'll get that thing set up in your
- 13:05life so that now you have new activities to fill your calendar that have high
- 13:11value, high outcome, production, peak performance. Very often you're doing things
- 13:16that work really well, but you don't know they work well because you're not
- 13:20measuring. And so in our coaching programs we can help you with the measurements.
- 13:24But even if you don't do any of these things, make the most
- 13:28of your time, create something, be a producer. Stop consuming. They
- 13:35want you to consume, so you stay distracted. If you want to gain
- 13:39influence at a marketplace, you've got to be influential. If you want to
- 13:43connect with people and help those people solve problems, you've got to connect.
- 13:48You just can't watch television and make it work. And why I say television,
- 13:52I mean YouTube and Rumble and all these different platforms where they're just it's
- 13:56a talking box, no different than network television. And if you're interested in
