- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swahili with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey Lucas, I was thinking about our last episode with classroom objects. Lucas: Oh yeah — kitabu, kalamu, dawati. Good stuff. Luna: Right. But today I want to talk about how we're feeling. Lucas: Perfect. Today we're learning emotions — simple ones you can use right away. Luna: Like happy and sad, maybe? Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with 'happy'. In Swahili, 'I am happy' is 'Nina furaha'. Luna: Nina furaha. Lucas: Great. 'Nina' means 'I have', and 'furaha' means 'happiness' or 'joy'. So literally 'I have happiness'. Luna: Oh, that's kind of nice. So Nina furaha. Lucas: Yes. Say it with me: Nina furaha. Luna: Nina furaha. Lucas: Now, what about 'sad'? 'I am sad' is 'Nina huzuni'. Luna: Nina huzuni. Hmm, that sounds a bit heavier. Lucas: It does. 'Huzuni' means sadness. So Nina huzuni. Luna: Nina huzuni. Okay, I got it. Lucas: Let's try a little scene. Imagine you just got some good news. Luna: Oh, like I got a promotion or something? Lucas: Sure. So you'd say: Nina furaha. Luna: Nina furaha! Lucas: There you go. Now imagine you dropped your ice cream. Luna: Nooo! That's sad. I'd say: Nina huzuni. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's learn how to ask someone else. 'Are you happy?' is 'Una furaha?' Luna: Una furaha? So 'una' means 'you have'. Lucas: Right. Just like 'nina' but for 'you'. Una furaha? Luna: Una furaha? Lucas: And 'are you sad?' is 'Una huzuni?' Luna: Una huzuni? Lucas: Perfect. So now you can ask someone how they feel. Luna: Let me try. Una furaha? Una huzuni? Lucas: Very good. Let's do a quick dialogue. I'll ask you, and you answer. Luna: Okay! Lucas: Luna, una furaha? Luna: Ndiyo, nina furaha! Lucas: Ah, that's great. And now, una huzuni? Luna: Hapana, sina huzuni. Lucas: Whoa, you used 'sina' — that means 'I don't have'. Very advanced. Luna: I remembered from earlier episodes. We learned 'sina' for negation. Lucas: Awesome. So if you're not sad, you say 'sina huzuni'. Luna: Sina huzuni. And if you're not happy, 'sina furaha'. Lucas: Exactly. But for now, let's stick with the positive forms. Luna: Okay, got it. So today's phrases: Nina furaha, Nina huzuni, Una furaha?, Una huzuni? Lucas: Yes. Let's repeat them one more time. Repeat after me: Nina furaha. Luna: Nina furaha. Lucas: Nina huzuni. Luna: Nina huzuni. Lucas: Una furaha? Luna: Una furaha? Lucas: Una huzuni? Luna: Una huzuni? Lucas: Beautiful. Now you can express your feelings and ask others. Luna: This is really useful. Like, if I meet a friend, I can say 'Una furaha?' Lucas: Exactly. And they'll be impressed. Luna: Nina furaha kujifunza Kiswahili. Lucas: Oh, 'I am happy to learn Swahili'. That's perfect. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. I think this episode was really fun. Lucas: Glad you enjoyed it. Remember, practice these phrases throughout your day. Luna: Will do. And thanks to Fexingo for this show. Lucas: Yes, keep learning with us. See you next time! Luna: Kwaheri!
