- 0:46Speaker 2: it's and it always links to the Flanner say, now,
- 0:49Speaker 2: who's laughing?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do you think people appreciate it? I think people appreciate
- 0:53Speaker 1: being fulled on April Fool's Day. I think in the
- 0:55Speaker 1: year of Our Lord twenty twenty six.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It always works for us because we live in the
- 0:59Speaker 2: future and on the stags is.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Like, actually you profool you guys, you fucked it up,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and everyone's like they're in an Australian page. We don't care.
- 1:07Speaker 2: We rend the world go by our time, please, But
- 1:12Speaker 2: everyone always it always gets the Americans and those in
- 1:15Speaker 2: the UK because we are ahead as so we.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Fooled them, We fol them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Australians, we're
- 1:20Speaker 1: just better at it than then pretty much everyone. Yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: the best way to be in April Fuller is to
- 1:24Speaker 1: be in the future. I'm glad you've got a strategy
- 1:28Speaker 1: for it. But yeah, so welcome to the April mail Bag.
- 1:31Speaker 1: We have looped up our hands and dove run into
- 1:34Speaker 1: that bag and rummages around and pulled out a few messages.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But water based lubricant, that's correct. Yeah. Well we're friends
- 1:40Speaker 1: of the environment here at four finger discount. Yeah, but
- 1:42Speaker 1: we've got some questions to answer, We've got some news
- 1:47Speaker 1: topics to discuss, and basically we just got some banter
- 1:50Speaker 1: to have. Yeah, some good old fashioned forefinger discount chin wags. Correct, yes,
- 1:56Speaker 1: So yeah, what's up? What do you want to start with?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Let's art with the news story. So I did send
- 2:02Speaker 2: you a link and basically I saw that, No, no,
- 2:05Speaker 2: of course I saw that. Our man Bill Oakley. He's
- 2:08Speaker 2: going to be doing something this month, isn't he.
- 2:09Speaker 1: He is doing well. Two events on the same day,
- 2:12Speaker 1: two hours apart, in Albany, Matt Nay and early evening.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Later in the evening, I think one six pm and
- 2:18Speaker 1: one is eight pm. One gets one gets a little blue.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That's we're going to raunchy after dark, our power, our paler. Bill.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It's not like a Steamed Hams event. One might say.
- 2:28Speaker 1: He's talking about his career, his many many side hustles,
- 2:31Speaker 1: He's got a.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Couple and well, the thing is, as we discussed during
- 2:34Speaker 2: our chat with Bill, is that he owns the rights
- 2:37Speaker 2: now to Steamed Hams. Fox didn't do it and Disney
- 2:40Speaker 2: haven't done it, so I'm going to do it now.
- 2:42Speaker 2: He has the steam ham Society. But in the gay
- 2:45Speaker 2: Steamed Hams he says it's an Albany expression, correct, So
- 2:48Speaker 2: now in Albany he is going to be hosting an event.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Now tried to just open the link and our Times
- 2:53Speaker 2: Union is saying you need to pay us for digital access.
- 2:56Speaker 1: The best thing you keep going back to and was
- 2:57Speaker 1: like we could probably squeeze a quarter of two out
- 3:00Speaker 1: of dando here.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm going to google again, Bill Oakley, not Times you
- 3:05Speaker 2: would you Albany event. Let's see, let me promote this
- 3:10Speaker 2: thing for in April fourteen thirty years ago event bright
- 3:14Speaker 2: they won't take my money. So April fourteen in America,
- 3:17Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, two shows is that the Druthers Brewing
- 3:20Speaker 2: Company in Alban, New York. So it's, as it says
- 3:22Speaker 2: the overview, it's another in the expression A one not
- 3:24Speaker 2: only live show with Bill Oakley, writer of the iconic
- 3:26Speaker 2: Simpsons scene. A one night live event in Alban is
- 3:29Speaker 2: celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the iconic steamed Ham segment.
- 3:32Speaker 2: So that being my favorite Simpsons episode, I feel like
- 3:35Speaker 2: we need to find a guest.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm thinking.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I was thinking we could maybe maybe this is just
- 3:39Speaker 2: on the fly, get Bill and Josh both on because
- 3:42Speaker 2: I was show Runs at the time, and say, hey,
- 3:43Speaker 2: do you go on go on to another double head
- 3:45Speaker 2: to come back quickly and we'll do a thirtieth anniversary
- 3:47Speaker 2: special of twenty two short films.
- 3:48Speaker 1: That's very ambitious of you, and I applaud the effort.
- 3:51Speaker 1: They will say no, thank you. Yeah, they will say
- 3:54Speaker 1: new phone, who this? Yeah? Who's the other? Whos another guest?
- 3:56Speaker 1: We'll find a guest. I personally was thinking, Look, as
- 3:59Speaker 1: I said, it's the first of April. This event takes
- 4:01Speaker 1: place on the fourteenth of Abel. That's exactly two weeks
- 4:03Speaker 1: from now. We have got a fortnight to raise the
- 4:05Speaker 1: money to get damn no over there, Let's kick started.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Let's fly down, not over economy. Let's not go wild here.
- 4:13Speaker 1: We're not putting him in business. But let's get into Wolbney.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Let's get in the hangar, in the room where it happens.
- 4:19Speaker 1: There's two words that again to prevent me from doing that.
- 4:22Speaker 1: School school, mine, school, holidays, two kids. She will not
- 4:29Speaker 1: think it's very nice for me to not a great success.
- 4:35Speaker 1: This has become a borat podcast. Let's get cracking, but it.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Says Bill Oakley, author of steam Hands, present's a sixty
- 4:41Speaker 2: minute live show featuring the inside story. I love the
- 4:44Speaker 2: inside story, not the behind the scenes, the inside story
- 4:47Speaker 2: of how the scene was created and how it became
- 4:50Speaker 2: one of the most wildly shared and enduring moments in television.
- 4:52Speaker 2: For those of you that have never listened to a
- 4:53Speaker 2: Simpson's podcast ever, you get to find out brand new
- 4:56Speaker 2: information at this live event.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm just loving This is a fully live in p
- 5:00Speaker 1: as an event with stories, clips and audience interaction. I'm like, God,
- 5:03Speaker 1: there's always death. They have real conversations. Oh okay, not
- 5:07Speaker 1: those other live events boom, I get them.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But oh yeah, that's happening Alban, who plays a central
- 5:12Speaker 2: role in the scene itself with the line it's an
- 5:13Speaker 2: Albany expression of becoming one of the most quoted and
- 5:15Speaker 2: recognizable lines from the segment. This event brings that moment
- 5:18Speaker 2: back to the place of it famously named checks. It's
- 5:21Speaker 2: a fully live yet in person event with stories, clips
- 5:23Speaker 2: and audience interaction.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Or crowd work. Everybody loves it. I love it. He's
- 5:27Speaker 1: just backing it up.
- 5:28Speaker 2: So it's a one hour show, six to eight, six
- 5:30Speaker 2: and eight, So six to seven, he's like, everyone, get
- 5:33Speaker 2: the fuck.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Out of here.
- 5:35Speaker 2: There's no there's no like sort of no show hanging out, hanging.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Around, you know, I mean you yeah, no, I mean look,
- 5:42Speaker 1: we've had our share of interactions with Bill lovely Fellow.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure he's not going to be like,
- 5:49Speaker 1: get the gfo ah.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So if you go to the it's only for the
- 5:53Speaker 2: eight pm show. I was going to say, how's he doing
- 5:55Speaker 2: the meet and greet? So for a standard ticket fifty
- 5:57Speaker 2: dollars for a show and a steamed Hans Burger, when
- 6:00Speaker 2: you even from the steamed hams burger.
- 6:02Speaker 1: It's prepared by the drop. It's just a hamburger, right,
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's a burger. It's just there. It can be anything.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And then the VP add on is an extra thirty
- 6:09Speaker 2: five dollars for a post show meet and greet, including
- 6:12Speaker 2: a photo op and a signed item. It's not only
- 6:15Speaker 2: stuff short there bill.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But I don't know I get that paper bill if
- 6:19Speaker 1: I'm saying, suddenly somef short thirty five bucks, judge more
- 6:23Speaker 1: than that, I suppose who knows what I would What I.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Would do is I tried my marketing brain, is I
- 6:28Speaker 2: would make the prices, adjust them to be an even hundred.
- 6:31Speaker 2: So it's like one hundred bucks gets me entry meat, bill,
- 6:34Speaker 2: gets up and signed, and get a steam taper. There's
- 6:36Speaker 2: one hundred and ten, one hundred ten. This seems like
- 6:38Speaker 2: so much more than a hundred.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Well that's corell. We all know about the philosophy of
- 6:41Speaker 1: like what does this cost ninety nine ninety nine ninety bucks?
- 6:45Speaker 1: What a bag? Then?
- 6:46Speaker 2: So what anyway, so one hundred and ten bucks you
- 6:48Speaker 2: can get. The lot of seating is limited limited for
- 6:51Speaker 2: each show. Food orders are taken prior to the show.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Service during The show is limited to drinks. Guests are
- 6:56Speaker 2: welcome to a arrivee early or stay after to enjoy
- 6:58Speaker 2: additional food and drinks. This is a special one night
- 7:01Speaker 2: anniversary event in Albany, built around one of the most
- 7:04Speaker 2: famous and frequently quoted moments in television. Advanced ticket purchase
- 7:07Speaker 2: is strongly recommended. So yes, I'll put the link for
- 7:10Speaker 2: that in the description of this podcast to just give
- 7:12Speaker 2: a bit of a boost and ticket sales, because you know,
- 7:13Speaker 2: we're the most downloaded listen to Simpsons podcast in the world,
- 7:17Speaker 2: the highest read of Simpsons podcast on Apple, the highest
- 7:19Speaker 2: read Simpsons podcast on Spotify.
- 7:21Speaker 1: This is news to me. Can I get a raise? No,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but I just got April fool.
- 7:28Speaker 2: But this is Yes, this is gonna be on April fourteenth.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So if you're in the area of Albany, or.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're on the East coast, if you're in
- 7:34Speaker 1: New York State, yeah, Bill means check it out, check
- 7:36Speaker 1: it out. Indeed, indeed or and as I said, let's
- 7:39Speaker 1: try and get dander there and some other news that
- 7:41Speaker 1: wouldn't really interest you. I saw that you sent a
- 7:44Speaker 1: link to this, and I was like, I'm not clicking
- 7:45Speaker 1: on that.
- 7:46Speaker 2: You're clicking on it. It was a real So the
- 7:51Speaker 2: headline is a real sort of what do you call it?
- 7:53Speaker 2: Bait the Simpson.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That's what headlines are designed for. Man.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, the Simpsons boss gives update on heavily rumored Project Revival.
- 8:00Speaker 2: That's what's the project revival?
- 8:02Speaker 1: Revival? What is it?
- 8:03Speaker 2: And it turns out that it's going to be Simpsons
- 8:05Speaker 2: Hit and Run. So they haven't officially announced it. I
- 8:07Speaker 2: think this is one of those things where the Simpsons
- 8:09Speaker 2: creators or careers, but the people who work in the show,
- 8:11Speaker 2: they know, if we want to get in the news,
- 8:13Speaker 2: just drop some sort of like nugget of he could
- 8:15Speaker 2: hear me, and then everyone's like, oh shit, it could
- 8:18Speaker 2: happen because the Simpsons Hit and Run, as you would
- 8:20Speaker 2: be aware, I've made you well aware obviously, is the
- 8:22Speaker 2: most beloved Simpsons game of all time. In my opinion,
- 8:25Speaker 2: everyone loves it. It's still my favorite game of all time.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I just I love going back to it. Elliot Love
- 8:28Speaker 2: was playing it because he's walk around Springfield kicking people.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Greatest day of He's love when he first discovered that
- 8:32Speaker 2: that little thing your child sounds like a psychopath. He
- 8:35Speaker 2: is a psychopath. Yes, that's why it loves us so much.
- 8:36Speaker 2: But the Simpsons Hit and Run could possibly be getting
- 8:39Speaker 2: a remake or a sequel, who knows, but it's.
- 8:44Speaker 1: What would you want out of Hit and Run twenty
- 8:47Speaker 1: twenty six.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I would want a remake but also a sequel. I
- 8:52Speaker 2: know it would require double the work, but if you
- 8:53Speaker 2: can do the remake first and then with the remake,
- 8:57Speaker 2: say at the end of it all, have it like
- 8:59Speaker 2: think saying, by the way, there's a sequel coming up,
- 9:01Speaker 2: Think people would be super pumped, So you'd.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Want to force awakens it kind of thing you'd want
- 9:04Speaker 1: to Yeah, you'd want more of the same and then more.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah and yeah, because I think the first game is
- 9:10Speaker 2: just so good, it'd be great to be able to
- 9:12Speaker 2: just I think a younger audience would be would find
- 9:15Speaker 2: it great to discover the original game. I think a
- 9:17Speaker 2: lot of older viewers and older fans like myself older
- 9:19Speaker 2: game I'm not a game, but older fans like myself
- 9:22Speaker 2: would love to be able to just put the game
- 9:23Speaker 2: in and play it with their kids. That's what were
- 9:27Speaker 2: was Crash Bandicoop. Where they did was they released a
- 9:29Speaker 2: new Crash bandicoot, but before they released that they did
- 9:31Speaker 2: a remake of the original trilogy of the Crash Bandicoot
- 9:34Speaker 2: game is one, two, and three, and my kids loved that.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Because they love that, They're like, can we play the
- 9:38Speaker 2: new one? So I think if they can remake this one,
- 9:40Speaker 2: people will by Oh my god, it's that game I
- 9:42Speaker 2: love when I was like when I was younger. They
- 9:43Speaker 2: play it with their kids, their kids fall in love
- 9:45Speaker 2: with it, they fall in love with the Simpsons, and
- 9:46Speaker 2: they go, I can't wait for the next one.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So basically, you got sucked in by capitalism. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 1: that's all of us. And the amazing writing of Matt
- 9:52Speaker 1: Salmon for the Simpsons game. He wrote the game, primarily
- 9:55Speaker 1: the amazing running.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I think it's just funny how people like Matt Salmon,
- 9:58Speaker 2: you know, twenties two thousand and three, So twenty three
- 10:01Speaker 2: years ago, like write this Simpsons game. He's like, fuck,
- 10:03Speaker 2: do I have to I'm already write in the show. Okay, sure,
- 10:05Speaker 2: he's writing this video game. This is before video games
- 10:07Speaker 2: were sort of really what they are today, right fully.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Immersive spirit experence.
- 10:12Speaker 2: So he's just writing this Simpsons game, and twenty three
- 10:14Speaker 2: years later, everyone's.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Like, it's the greatest given. It must be sort of
- 10:17Speaker 1: because at the.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Time, there's no way he wrote this game thing and
- 10:19Speaker 2: this is going to be twenties from now one of
- 10:21Speaker 2: those blove of games of all time.
- 10:22Speaker 1: No, he probably not that he would dash it off
- 10:24Speaker 1: or anything like that, but yeah, there are some things
- 10:26Speaker 1: you think, oh, this is what I'll be remembered for.
- 10:28Speaker 1: This is my legacy. Something is like, well, good ching,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm getting paid and that's that.
- 10:33Speaker 2: And it's sort of depressing as a fan because you've
- 10:36Speaker 2: put so much love and you admire this piece of
- 10:38Speaker 2: work that when the person who created it doesn't No,
- 10:41Speaker 2: they don't care about that.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It's like it was just the thing I did. You're like, oh, yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 1: but it means so much to me. Oh of course, yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I think we've all had that. I mean, you and
- 10:49Speaker 1: I have both spoken to our share of creative people
- 10:51Speaker 1: over time. Hey, you know what really means a lot
- 10:54Speaker 1: to me is that and they'll be like that's all right. Yeah,
- 10:58Speaker 1: well it reminds me.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We recently spoke with Jake Cogan, former Simpsons writer, for
- 11:02Speaker 2: our review of Last Exit the Springfield, which will be
- 11:04Speaker 2: available in your feeds next week, but he is numerous
- 11:08Speaker 2: times rate the podcast. I would bring up to him saying,
- 11:11Speaker 2: how this gag it's so memorable, like the plane, this
- 11:15Speaker 2: needs braces or something something else like that, and he'd go, yeah,
- 11:19Speaker 2: I think I wrote it. He maybe someone else wrote.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I was like, no, big, take credit, take credit. Yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 1: just lie to us and say, you know, it was
- 11:31Speaker 1: the middle of the night to come up with the
- 11:32Speaker 1: best gag ever. Phila really, Philly really felt the tension
- 11:36Speaker 1: as soon as I felt the pen hit the pages, like, yes,
- 11:39Speaker 1: I've done it, another triumph. I needed something of what
- 11:43Speaker 1: was it was? Pencil in the butt crack, That's what
- 11:46Speaker 1: I needed. But it goes yeah, yeah, I think we
- 11:50Speaker 1: wrote it. Maybe someone else too. Sure, Yeah, So I
- 11:52Speaker 1: guess what we're trying to say is you disappointed, but
- 11:55Speaker 1: you certainly did not serve. It was a great interview.
- 11:57Speaker 1: It was a great interview, and it's being a great interview.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He recently.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and coming up not long after that one in
- 12:02Speaker 2: your feeds, one that shall be recorded after we record
- 12:07Speaker 2: this one is with the man himself, al Jean, which
- 12:10Speaker 2: is very exciting.
- 12:11Speaker 1: You pronounce an al Jean and I pronouncing a French
- 12:14Speaker 1: style like like an idiot.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Crandall yeah, but it's just this is this is one
- 12:22Speaker 2: of the guys who when you think of Simpsons Mount Rushmore's,
- 12:25Speaker 2: he's sort of the ones, one of the ones there
- 12:26Speaker 2: for sure. Like you come, you've got probably Matt Groening,
- 12:29Speaker 2: if you can Jim Brooks.
- 12:31Speaker 1: We're going to have to add a few more heads
- 12:32Speaker 1: to rout mush Route mush More Mount Rushmore. It traditionally
- 12:37Speaker 1: has four.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Heads because because Jim Brooks, he he sort of he's
- 12:41Speaker 2: an icon of Hollywood, not necessarily just the Simpson. I
- 12:43Speaker 2: would love to get him more obviously to talk about
- 12:45Speaker 2: Simpsons on the podcast. But I think al Jean, Matt Groening,
- 12:48Speaker 2: I think David Silverman's on there for me, and yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 2: there is you have to add more Gonaart, Dan Cassonever,
- 12:55Speaker 2: then you gonna add Harshier, and then you can add
- 12:56Speaker 2: Julie Cavan.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah you do.
- 12:58Speaker 2: There's a lot of famous people on the Simpsons, a
- 13:00Speaker 2: lot of iconic people. But when we're talking to alg
- 13:03Speaker 2: and I cannot wait. I'm excited for it.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I'm very much looking forward to that. So
- 13:06Speaker 1: we're doing that shortly. You'll be able to hear it soon.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yes, And if you're a support of ours on Patreon.
- 13:11Speaker 2: You can get it earlier than everybody else.
- 13:13Speaker 1: You use your incredible powers of persuasion and persistence, one
- 13:16Speaker 1: might say, being a piest to get James L. Brooks
- 13:19Speaker 1: on do it? Well, I do it. I'm trying to
- 13:21Speaker 1: think of Yeah. I feel like if we can impress
- 13:24Speaker 1: Al oh okay, oh sure we got impress him. I know.
- 13:27Speaker 2: So the thing is I'm doing the best. Once we've impressed,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I would put it out there. We've shared it and
- 13:31Speaker 2: stuff like that. I've like, hey, do you have Matt's email?
- 13:35Speaker 2: And then if we're gonna press Mat, way, we've had Matt,
- 13:37Speaker 2: We've had al Jean, You're next, buddy.
- 13:40Speaker 1: The like they say, I got to catch him. Oh,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I'm going to shift.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Throw a shout out to Matt's I won't say her
- 13:46Speaker 2: name cause she's want a name of it, but Matt
- 13:48Speaker 2: Salmon's assistant. Because I was like, do you know if
- 13:51Speaker 2: I can get the best way to contact al Jane?
- 13:53Speaker 2: And she's like, here's his email and I was like, oh, oh,
- 13:56Speaker 2: thank you. And then I waited about two or three weeks.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Do you want to a former assistant down?
- 14:01Speaker 1: Now? You probably a fire?
- 14:02Speaker 2: And then I waited two or three weeks and I
- 14:03Speaker 2: was like, do I email and do I knock? This
- 14:06Speaker 2: seems like a private email. I just went for him, like, hey, West,
- 14:09Speaker 2: you can ignore it or just say no. I was like,
- 14:11Speaker 2: I said, I got this from so and so, and
- 14:13Speaker 2: he's like, yeah, sure, sounds great, let's do it.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I was like, it's that easy. You just gotta ask.
- 14:19Speaker 1: There is a philosophy that I have started to embrace.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Dan has been clearly doing this for a while, even
- 14:23Speaker 1: if he's not using the name, but something called What
- 14:25Speaker 1: the Hell Wednesdays or if you want to be a
- 14:27Speaker 1: little crew at WTF Wednesdays, where it's just like it's
- 14:30Speaker 1: shoot your shot day. You know, you put together you
- 14:34Speaker 1: locate the email or contact details for someone that you
- 14:36Speaker 1: want to be associated with, somebody you want to be
- 14:38Speaker 1: in business with, someone you want to talk to, someone
- 14:40Speaker 1: you want to write for, et cetera, et cetera. Put
- 14:42Speaker 1: together a terrific email and you just send it out
- 14:44Speaker 1: into the ether. It's like, what happens.
- 14:45Speaker 2: It happens, and a ten never get back to you,
- 14:48Speaker 2: but two do, yeah, guaranteed. One leads to money, one
- 14:51Speaker 2: leads to a fun time, one leads to who you
- 14:55Speaker 2: be emailing.
- 14:55Speaker 1: But what then't you anyway?
- 14:58Speaker 2: But yeah, interviews coming up, Yeah, would have been one
- 15:00Speaker 2: of something more entertaining episodes with reviews so far since
- 15:04Speaker 2: the last Male Bag, What mean some of your favorite
- 15:06Speaker 2: podcasts we've done. I was very happy with some of
- 15:09Speaker 2: the South Parks we've talked about. Yeah, because we've just Yes,
- 15:13Speaker 2: we've wrapped.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Up season nine. Now we're moving into season ten times,
- 15:16Speaker 1: which is where Chef was killed off the show. The
- 15:19Speaker 1: character we did smuggle like thanks, which is a lot
- 15:22Speaker 1: of fun as well. That wasn't good, But yeah, wrapping
- 15:24Speaker 1: up season nine. I mean, even if I think the
- 15:27Speaker 1: last episodes of season nine wasn't that great, Bloody Mary,
- 15:30Speaker 1: it was fine. It was fine. I think we had
- 15:32Speaker 1: some interesting things that we could talk about with in
- 15:34Speaker 1: that probably more controversial than sure, but it was good
- 15:38Speaker 1: spirited conversation between the two of us. Yeah, So I
- 15:41Speaker 1: know I've enjoyed our South Park chats. I've really enjoyed
- 15:44Speaker 1: some of the interviews we've done. I mean we've been
- 15:46Speaker 1: very very fortunate and speaking with some very interesting creative
- 15:49Speaker 1: people who have been very generous with their time, given
- 15:53Speaker 1: us a two powers, a bit of a peek behind
- 15:55Speaker 1: the curtain, and you know, I've got some terrific anecdotes,
- 15:58Speaker 1: some unexpected anecdotes. Yeah, no, it's it's been good times
- 16:03Speaker 1: all around. I mean, I'm not that I'm I should
- 16:05Speaker 1: be playing favorites here, but listen to all of these interviews.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I mean it's good banter between us and them, and
- 16:12Speaker 1: you'll you'll have fun and you'll learn a little something too.
- 16:15Speaker 2: As I like to say, we said we're going to
- 16:17Speaker 2: answer some questions, didn't we Hey, we did say that. Yes,
- 16:20Speaker 2: all right, So let's get the first one up here
- 16:21Speaker 2: from the mail bag. The email it is mail bag
- 16:23Speaker 2: at four finger discount dot com dot au Kelsey Cratic, Hey,
- 16:28Speaker 2: Daniel and guy, my name, my name is Kelsey. I've
- 16:31Speaker 2: been a long time listener from Sweden. I love that
- 16:33Speaker 2: from Sweden.
- 16:33Speaker 1: What's up, Kelsey? Yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Firstly, I just want to thank you for the hours
- 16:37Speaker 2: of entertainment you've given me. It's been like hanging out
- 16:39Speaker 2: with friends on my commute to and from work. A
- 16:42Speaker 2: lot of people seem to listen to the show to.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And from work.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Okay, get some, get some ready for work, or it's
- 16:46Speaker 2: like their final bit of paradise before they enter the office.
- 16:50Speaker 1: A little bit of pleasure before the grind. Yeah.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Speaking of friends, my question is do you think Milhouse's
- 16:55Speaker 2: life would be better had he not become friends with Bart?
- 16:57Speaker 2: Whilst he seems to be the Robin Twees Batman, I've
- 16:59Speaker 2: always seeing them as both needing each other.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Your thoughts, well, yeah, that's a very It's an interesting thought, Kelsey.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I don't think Millhouse will be better off without but
- 17:10Speaker 1: I was thinking about this. Some people are just better
- 17:12Speaker 1: or better. You know, they're not alphas. They and they
- 17:14Speaker 1: need to be directed by someone who's a little more
- 17:17Speaker 1: forcible and charismatics. They're Butters. Yeah, the Butter's Millhouse was
- 17:21Speaker 1: Butters before Butters was Butters. Correct. I get the feeling
- 17:23Speaker 1: if Millhouse did not have someone like Bart in his life,
- 17:26Speaker 1: he would be very sort of lonely, lonely and insular.
- 17:29Speaker 2: He'd be I feel like he'd be part of the
- 17:32Speaker 2: I can't remember the name of that of their group
- 17:34Speaker 2: but where the nerds like that Database and Martin all that.
- 17:37Speaker 2: He'd be in there, but he'd be almost like the
- 17:40Speaker 2: nerdy one of them. He'd just be there because he's
- 17:42Speaker 2: no one else likes man is going to join these
- 17:43Speaker 2: guys correct.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so Millhouse needs to touch grass as the as
- 17:47Speaker 1: the kids say these days, and bart enables that, even
- 17:49Speaker 1: if the outcome isn't always great. I get the feeling
- 17:52Speaker 1: that when the time comes, you know, Millhou's got a
- 17:54Speaker 1: few more miles in the meter, he looks back at
- 17:56Speaker 1: his child and he goes, hmmm, bart was the best
- 17:59Speaker 1: for to have. But he'll look back at the experiences
- 18:02Speaker 1: he had being a night watchman at a factory or
- 18:06Speaker 1: something like that, and he'll go, you know what, some
- 18:08Speaker 1: of those things were fun. The Cholbyville visit exactly right.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I get the vinam he will look back and go, hmm,
- 18:15Speaker 1: they made me who I am today, for better or worse.
- 18:18Speaker 2: It's interesting because I feel like the perception of bart
- 18:20Speaker 2: In particularly evolved as the show went on in the
- 18:23Speaker 2: first ten years. At the start, he kind of felt like,
- 18:25Speaker 2: I wouldn't say the cool kid, but he was the
- 18:29Speaker 2: popular kid, I think, but because he was like the
- 18:31Speaker 2: bad boy, and as the show evolved, it was almost
- 18:34Speaker 2: like they were. I wouldn't say bart was the popular kid.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Hen't one of the others, but I think out of
- 18:40Speaker 2: all the kids at Springfet, he shd' to be the
- 18:42Speaker 2: one that would stand up for himself, and Millhouse needed
- 18:44Speaker 2: someone there to back him up because Millhouse is a
- 18:46Speaker 2: character who's an easy target for bullies.
- 18:49Speaker 1: And every school's got them.
- 18:50Speaker 2: You look at and you're like Holly at school now, Al,
- 18:52Speaker 2: I'm like, I see their friends and I'm like, oh,
- 18:54Speaker 2: and thankfully that school doesn't seem to have many bullies,
- 18:56Speaker 2: if at all. Right, But I don't know, man, nine
- 18:59Speaker 2: ninety five, Man, you'd be getting picked on because it
- 19:02Speaker 2: just they just look like easy targets.
- 19:04Speaker 1: This is this looks like a Millhouse. This is a
- 19:06Speaker 1: sad fact of life. I mean, yeah, they just they
- 19:09Speaker 1: just perceptively just weak. You know. Some kids have got
- 19:13Speaker 1: the prey jeene. Yeah, sorry about that. And this is
- 19:16Speaker 1: not This is not to say that predators should take
- 19:18Speaker 1: advantage of that, don't do it.
- 19:20Speaker 2: A person like Bart might not be able to defend
- 19:21Speaker 2: him physically against someone like Nelson, but he can out
- 19:24Speaker 2: outwit the bullies a lot of the time. And maybe,
- 19:27Speaker 2: just maybe, because barn is sometimes friends with Nelson and whatnot,
- 19:29Speaker 2: that little bit of cred and been associated with Bart
- 19:31Speaker 2: means that Millhouse isn't being picked on as much as
- 19:33Speaker 2: he sauld unless he says, guess who likes you? And
- 19:36Speaker 2: Nelson just beats a share of him. So one of
- 19:39Speaker 2: my favorite mill House members of all time. Guess who
- 19:41Speaker 2: likes you? Custom Millhouse.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Yeah, kid with those eyebrows, he's being destined for trouble.
- 19:47Speaker 2: But he also does a bit of a bit of
- 19:49Speaker 2: a heel esk vibe to him as mel Millhouse when
- 19:52Speaker 2: when he's thinking, when things are going his way, he
- 19:53Speaker 2: can be an absolute dog.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Well that's the way with all of you, a little
- 19:56Speaker 1: bit of a taste of parent of course he's going
- 19:58Speaker 1: to exploit it. Yes, well, thank you for the question, Kelsey.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Thanks Kelsey all the way from Sweden. Yeah, justin Posner.
- 20:04Speaker 2: This guy's from Peterborough in the UK, which is not
- 20:06Speaker 2: far from Nicholas House. Oh yeah, she's in Boston, which
- 20:09Speaker 2: is yeah, all part of I think Peterborough is in Lincolnshire,
- 20:12Speaker 2: I think, but it's like a thirty to forty minute
- 20:14Speaker 2: drive from Nicholas House.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You might as well be talking about Middle earth Man. Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I think I'm pretty sure.
- 20:19Speaker 2: When we went to London, we got on the train
- 20:21Speaker 2: at Peterborough, which it felt like a half an hour
- 20:23Speaker 2: drive from her mum's house. Okay, yeah, it's not far away. Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 2: it's kind of like Peterborough is the worrib to adjalong.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Thank you for putting it in terms that I understand.
- 20:31Speaker 2: He says, get a mates. Justin here from Peterborough in
- 20:34Speaker 2: the UK.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I stolen valor Justin. You can't say get a mate,
- 20:36Speaker 1: of course you can actually Justin.
- 20:38Speaker 2: And I only recently discovered your show early last year,
- 20:41Speaker 2: but I've powered it all the way through to season fourteen,
- 20:42Speaker 2: whilst also listening to current episodes as they come out.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Love it. Oh thanks.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I'm wondering if you think the Simpsons would ever do
- 20:49Speaker 2: a crossover with the Muppets. They once had a cameo
- 20:51Speaker 2: on Sesame Street, but I think with the Muppets looking
- 20:54Speaker 2: like they'll be revived, could we get a crossover short
- 20:57Speaker 2: in some way? I think I'll discussed this on Talking
- 21:00Speaker 2: Muppets with Jaden. We're talking about potential guests and he
- 21:03Speaker 2: was saying how having the Simpsons drawn into the Muppet
- 21:06Speaker 2: studio would be a fun visual. I think it would be,
- 21:09Speaker 2: but it had to be a short though. It couldn't
- 21:11Speaker 2: be an episode.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Couldn't be an episode. I am personally not feeling this,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I like where your head's at, man, but sometimes chocolate
- 21:19Speaker 1: and peanut but are better separated. I can understand the
- 21:21Speaker 1: crossover with the Muppets and Sesame Street. They're all are
- 21:25Speaker 1: they all from the Henson sort of? Yeah? Well spring yep, yeah,
- 21:30Speaker 1: So they're the same, same but different. The Simpsons and
- 21:35Speaker 1: the Muppets, they've got sort of different comic sensibilities, different
- 21:38Speaker 1: comic rhythms. I get the feeling we'd hard to make
- 21:41Speaker 1: those two coalne you can give it a red hot
- 21:43Speaker 1: go by all means. I don't think it's going to,
- 21:45Speaker 1: you know, in the world if anything, if anything sort
- 21:48Speaker 1: of went wrong.
- 21:49Speaker 2: But I feel like the Simpsons of the early nineties
- 21:51Speaker 2: would fit better because when the kids were more rascals
- 21:53Speaker 2: and then just sort of being rascals in the Muppet
- 21:55Speaker 2: theater would be a better vibe. But I don't know,
- 21:59Speaker 2: because there was episode where, I think it was only
- 22:01Speaker 2: a short part of the episod where Katie Perry was
- 22:03Speaker 2: a guest star on The Simpsons and they had puppet
- 22:05Speaker 2: versions of the Simpsons. Okay, it could be a fun
- 22:09Speaker 2: way too, sort of if you had those puppets. They
- 22:11Speaker 2: start as drawn in and then sort of like a
- 22:13Speaker 2: Watch the Rabbit thing, and then they become puppets because
- 22:16Speaker 2: maybe Bunsen and Beaker creates some device that turns them
- 22:19Speaker 2: into puppets or whatever, and rich.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And boundless imagination you have.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Okay, I'm coming around to your work because uppet episodes,
- 22:27Speaker 2: the way they work is they have various acts and
- 22:30Speaker 2: songs whatnot, but there's a through line of a story.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Something's going on backstage or whatever. So maybe the story
- 22:35Speaker 2: could be that they're trying to turn the Simpsons back
- 22:37Speaker 2: into animated again.
- 22:39Speaker 1: There you go. Oh, he's just solved.
- 22:41Speaker 2: It could work anyway, because I think it would be
- 22:43Speaker 2: interesting to see Homer with Waldoff and Statler just hanging
- 22:47Speaker 2: shit on Fozzy and whatnot.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Well mistaken them for mister Burns.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yes, Mark Nelson, Hi, Guy and Dando love the show
- 22:54Speaker 2: and always listen on the way to and to and
- 22:56Speaker 2: from work.
- 22:57Speaker 1: We've found our audience, we found our people.
- 22:59Speaker 2: You might comfort listening after dropping the kids off at
- 23:01Speaker 2: school and helped calm my nerves before arriving at the office.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I'm also a big fan of going down to South Park.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I was hoping you could set.
- 23:07Speaker 1: A lot a job if you got Mark that you're
- 23:08Speaker 1: nervous where you're going to work. I might be near trafficing.
- 23:12Speaker 2: He's I've got a reputation to live up to, Mark
- 23:16Speaker 2: Nelson mal Jiggli. I was hoping you could settle this
- 23:19Speaker 2: dilemma for me. Which season of the Simpsons do you
- 23:21Speaker 2: think looks the best? I've always thought Season eight, but
- 23:24Speaker 2: my brother loves Season five, which I call the big
- 23:26Speaker 2: Eye era, as the character's eyeballs and pupils were huge.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Please tell me you agree, so that I may finally
- 23:31Speaker 2: explain to my brother why he has been wrong all
- 23:33Speaker 2: these years. It's personal preferencing, it really is.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I personally like a little exaggeration in my animation. So Mark,
- 23:41Speaker 1: your brother is correct and you are one hundred percent wrong.
- 23:44Speaker 1: You like Season five? Okay? Yeah?
- 23:46Speaker 2: Necessarily Season four has more of the big eyes I
- 23:48Speaker 2: think than season five, and season five was more natural.
- 23:52Speaker 2: But I do for me personally, I'm not a huge
- 23:55Speaker 2: fan of the look of the Season four s big
- 23:58Speaker 2: eyes characters, but it's again personal preference. I think I'm
- 24:02Speaker 2: more like a season seven ish Season eight. Maybe it's
- 24:05Speaker 2: because they're the episodes that were coming out when I
- 24:07Speaker 2: started watching the Simpsons, and it's what I associate the
- 24:10Speaker 2: most part, of course with when I'm being a fan
- 24:12Speaker 2: of the show. They're my favorite episodes as well, which
- 24:15Speaker 2: also helps. But I just think episodes like Summer of
- 24:19Speaker 2: four foot two, that's the end of season seven. I
- 24:21Speaker 2: just think that year of the show, when it's the
- 24:23Speaker 2: Simpsons at night. I remember to put a post on
- 24:25Speaker 2: the Facebook page once where it was just screencaps of
- 24:27Speaker 2: the Simpsons at Springfield at night. You know, it's just
- 24:30Speaker 2: the Quickie mine at two am in the morning and
- 24:32Speaker 2: the lights of the neon lights are on, but it's
- 24:35Speaker 2: peaceful in the street and stuff like that. I just
- 24:37Speaker 2: think the Simpsons visually. For me personally, I think season seven,
- 24:40Speaker 2: season eight is my favorite era. But again the probably
- 24:43Speaker 2: some people like season three, season two, maybe yeah, they're
- 24:46Speaker 2: weirdose the weirdos, No, but the season four, season five.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Do you think season five is your fan.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I would say around that era, yeah, when things are
- 24:52Speaker 1: it's a little bit more heightened. You look at the
- 24:54Speaker 1: first couple of seasons, it's like, this looks pretty rough.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I mean, this is sort of bleed over from Tracy
- 25:00Speaker 1: Ormond shorts and that kind of thing. It's not unattractive
- 25:04Speaker 1: to look at but it's like it looks so different
- 25:07Speaker 1: to what they became. Yeah, let's really take advantage of
- 25:10Speaker 1: the of the medium that we're working or the format
- 25:12Speaker 1: that we're working in here, and yeah, giving the heads
- 25:17Speaker 1: a little bit more size, eyes a little bit more size.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Just as I said, exaggeration of features and things like that.
- 25:22Speaker 1: You'll notice that when they bring another new carriacters or
- 25:25Speaker 1: guest characters look a little more sort of I won't
- 25:28Speaker 1: say photo realistic, but look more human or whatever. It's
- 25:30Speaker 1: kind of like, this is kind of disconcerting. No, I
- 25:34Speaker 1: like that. I like the exaggeration. So I'm going to
- 25:36Speaker 1: go with Mark's brother.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I'm sure younger people would say the Hahdi era probably.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I mean the Haiti era looks visually, it looks lovely,
- 25:43Speaker 2: but it almost looks too clean, too clean, especially the
- 25:46Speaker 2: new episodes. Now I'm looking at going as too it's
- 25:50Speaker 2: too perfect. You need a bit of scruff and people
- 25:53Speaker 2: like they front on Simpson. You ever seen front on Simpsons? Yes,
- 25:56Speaker 2: where it's terrifying, very much so. But you know they
- 25:59Speaker 2: back then they didn't expect you to be able to
- 26:01Speaker 2: freeze frame something, but they had to have the character
- 26:04Speaker 2: move their head of course, but I do like the
- 26:08Speaker 2: I like the idea of it just being hand drawn,
- 26:11Speaker 2: just as that feel of.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I like a little rough around the edges,
- 26:14Speaker 1: a little dirt under the fingernails.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Okay, let's go to the Patreon mail
- 26:19Speaker 2: bay us for some questions here. So this one's from
- 26:23Speaker 2: Pete Anderson. I run a small seasonal burger wagon on
- 26:26Speaker 2: an island in Maine, USA. This sounds dope and run
- 26:29Speaker 2: weekly special was alout bobs Burgers after it by the bay.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Check out Bob's pods if you're a fan of bobs Burgers,
- 26:34Speaker 2: ave aable exclusively on our Patreon. After a few seasons,
- 26:37Speaker 2: I'm running out of ideas. Are there any Aussie specific
- 26:40Speaker 2: burger combos that I should try to replicate for my customers?
- 26:44Speaker 2: What are your favorite flavor combinations on a burger related
- 26:47Speaker 2: chicken sandwich combos, French fry combos if I'm next door
- 26:50Speaker 2: to the land of Proutine, or other grabbing go foods.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I spent almost a decade as a public school dining
- 26:55Speaker 2: director and have introduced the kids in the community to
- 26:58Speaker 2: a lot of fun foreign items. My first foray into
- 27:01Speaker 2: Assie food was chicken salt and it's been a huge
- 27:03Speaker 2: hit so far. That blows my mind that I have
- 27:05Speaker 2: chicken salt overseas. It's like, if you want to win
- 27:07Speaker 2: the heart of someone who isn't from Australia, give them
- 27:08Speaker 2: some chicken salt.
- 27:09Speaker 1: That's true. Keep up the good work boys. Thank you
- 27:11Speaker 1: from Pete Anderson. Hey, no worries, Pete. Look, congratulations on
- 27:14Speaker 1: this burger van. This sounds kind of like my dream.
- 27:17Speaker 2: What if it's weird because I'm not a fan of it,
- 27:21Speaker 2: but I feel like in Australia, whenever you see macas
- 27:23Speaker 2: going we're doing the Aussie burger right, all that does
- 27:25Speaker 2: they slap a sluice.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Beet on beetroo? Yeah, I don't like it. I like
- 27:29Speaker 1: beetroo on a salad roll, but on a hot burger
- 27:31Speaker 1: I don't like it. Yeah, I must admit it's not
- 27:33Speaker 1: really my go to No. Yeah, So I don't know
- 27:36Speaker 1: how that's become the yes s anonymous with Australia.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Like did someone at a Fish and Chips or Acces
- 27:41Speaker 2: put beetree on a burger once?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Tonight? This is the doing He's one with the lot. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 1: because this has really got everything on. It's like we
- 27:52Speaker 1: got some beetree. We'd probably throw that in there as well.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I wonder if that's a term overseas a burger with
- 27:56Speaker 2: the lot, one with the lot. It would be some
- 27:59Speaker 2: variation of that. But we say burger with the lot.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Don't have friends in the Sound on the East Coast
- 28:05Speaker 1: have like the everything bagel okay, yeah, which I think
- 28:08Speaker 1: is fairly sort of loaded bagel. But one with the
- 28:11Speaker 1: lot sounds very Australian, doesn't it.
- 28:13Speaker 2: But I feel like if I'm ordering a burger with
- 28:14Speaker 2: a lot, it's getting beech, it's getting pineapple, it's getting
- 28:16Speaker 2: all this shit.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That I don't want on my Hamberg. That's true. Yeah,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I mean back in the glory days of Texas Burgers
- 28:21Speaker 1: when it was still open here in Geelong, you know
- 28:24Speaker 1: you could get well, you could tailor it the lot
- 28:26Speaker 1: to You could do that with just about any place.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Of course, it's like you want the lot, but you
- 28:30Speaker 1: don't want the lot. Give me some tomato, give me
- 28:33Speaker 1: some onion, give me some lettuce, bit of cheese in there.
- 28:36Speaker 2: The staples when you go to like a Souperlaker or
- 28:37Speaker 2: a burger place, the staples usually get you usually pay
- 28:39Speaker 2: for cheese now extra, but it's always tomato onion. They're
- 28:43Speaker 2: the ones that they're the basics, lettuce, lettuce, tomato onion, lettuce,
- 28:46Speaker 2: and then you add for cheese, and you add the
- 28:47Speaker 2: extras as well. Yeah, but what what sauce you putting on?
- 28:50Speaker 2: I'm thinking I'm a garlic Aolie kind of guy. Now
- 28:53Speaker 2: are you talking about like for a sublaki or burger
- 28:55Speaker 2: for a chicken, a fried chicken burger for it?
- 28:57Speaker 1: Oh? No, more like a sort of a hot sauce,
- 29:00Speaker 1: you kind of hot sauce.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I'm the opposite. I'm like a huge fan
- 29:02Speaker 2: of hot sauce, but I'm more an Aoli guy.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yeah. I went to the supermarket last night and Franks,
- 29:07Speaker 1: the hot sauce people have brought out like a creamy
- 29:09Speaker 1: sort of fried chicken sauce, and I'm like, who I'm special,
- 29:12Speaker 1: better snap that up. Of course it's like ten cents
- 29:14Speaker 1: off or whatever. It's like, no, I still got to
- 29:16Speaker 1: get it. Yeah, No, it does the trick. A bit
- 29:19Speaker 1: of Mayo in there as well. It's some QP mayo.
- 29:21Speaker 1: They can be quite nice.
- 29:23Speaker 2: When I think Ozzie Burger, I think I wouldn't but
- 29:26Speaker 2: I would not recommend it.
- 29:27Speaker 1: No, I mean it's not something we necessarily want to
- 29:29Speaker 1: push on the rest of the world. I mean, give
- 29:30Speaker 1: it a try, But I mean, PiZZ sounds like an
- 29:32Speaker 1: adventurous guy. But with these various sides, maybe there's a combination.
- 29:35Speaker 1: You can mackles pickles. You gotta put pickles in a burger.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Yeah, see, I'm not. I've only just sort of grown
- 29:41Speaker 2: accustomed to pickles. I've never really liked I was.
- 29:43Speaker 1: I was the kidd took the pickles off the cheeseburger
- 29:45Speaker 1: at Macas. I always did it at maccas, and I
- 29:46Speaker 1: still do it at Macas. I don't. I don't really. Yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 1: for some reason, my taste Budge has just been accustomed to. Like, no,
- 29:54Speaker 1: Maca's burger should taste like this, and I should not
- 29:55Speaker 1: get the taste of pickle in there. Maybe in a
- 29:57Speaker 1: big Mac, but I don't have a big mak. See
- 29:59Speaker 1: my might be my uncle coming.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Somebody said to me when I was I took the
- 30:02Speaker 2: pickles off a Big Mac once, and they said to me,
- 30:05Speaker 2: they make it with all these ingredients for a reason,
- 30:08Speaker 2: create it the way they make it.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And I was like fine, I was like, you're right, No,
- 30:11Speaker 1: that's actually it. That's pretty smart. I mean, I can
- 30:14Speaker 1: understand taken out of a quarter pounder.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Those people are being paid millions to create accombination of
- 30:18Speaker 2: ingredients that it's going to be delicious.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You think you're smart. But if you're making your own
- 30:25Speaker 1: bespoke burger at home, yeah, I think slapping a few
- 30:28Speaker 1: little bread and butter pickles in there fantastic. Likewise, of
- 30:31Speaker 1: the chicken burger works a treat.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, just try it with Just try your burgers
- 30:36Speaker 2: with a slice of beetrip pick one and say that's
- 30:38Speaker 2: the ossy versions, the ossy variant.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Indeed, I'm wondering what other sort of ossy things you
- 30:42Speaker 1: could put in I've been trying to think of. I mean,
- 30:46Speaker 1: when you put pineapple in it, there's usually that. Oh
- 30:48Speaker 1: that's that Hawaiian burger joint. Yeah. Do I have hamburger
- 30:52Speaker 1: and batters overseas? Oh that sounds like a steamed ham,
- 30:56Speaker 1: doesn't it. Yeah?
- 30:56Speaker 2: And a fish and chip shop staple here is hamburgers
- 30:59Speaker 2: in batter and it's just literally just.
- 31:00Speaker 1: A big thick hamburger. I wouldn't I wouldn't put it
- 31:03Speaker 1: past our American friends. I think they tend to deep
- 31:05Speaker 1: forry a lot of stuff. When I was in the
- 31:07Speaker 1: States a few years ago and went to a state
- 31:11Speaker 1: fair or a county fair or something that was amazed
- 31:13Speaker 1: by all the sort of food variants in a lot.
- 31:14Speaker 1: It's like deep frying the hell out of that thing.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Deep frying the deep fryer. Hell yeah, all right, next
- 31:21Speaker 2: question here, Andrew Swan, are you prepared to see John
- 31:23Speaker 2: Lithgower in a new light once you get around to
- 31:26Speaker 2: watching Dexter with Nicholas So I messaged in the other day. Ah,
- 31:28Speaker 2: and we're talking about Ricochet. He's like speaking of John
- 31:31Speaker 2: with a villain. He's great in Dexter, and he's like,
- 31:33Speaker 2: you watched Dexter, knows that you have to watch Dexter
- 31:35Speaker 2: season four with John Gower.
- 31:37Speaker 1: He's very very good.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm looking forward to that, Sweanny, Thank you.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Andrew Kelly got tagged by a back today that being
- 31:45Speaker 2: got shipped on.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I guess, so just a lot of that got tagged.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I've never heard that.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Got any interesting run ins with animals, Andrew Kelly, any
- 31:54Speaker 2: interesting run ins with animals?
- 31:57Speaker 1: Gosh, I hand feather giraffe at the zoo. Once got
- 32:00Speaker 1: a scar above my right eye because a dog attacked
- 32:04Speaker 1: me as I was riding my bike home drunk and
- 32:06Speaker 1: hit my head on the corner of the gutter and
- 32:09Speaker 1: had to walk in and say, man, I fell in
- 32:11Speaker 1: my back. I was only I think I was seventeen.
- 32:14Speaker 1: At the Diamond, I had a couple of beers, a
- 32:16Speaker 1: couple of small beers, and yeah, a dog came out
- 32:18Speaker 1: of nowhere and snagged my pants and I fell off
- 32:20Speaker 1: my bike. Oh yeah, that's an interesting. That's an interesting
- 32:24Speaker 1: that dog tagged me. So I've had a funny story.
- 32:27Speaker 1: We're driving this American and it was a friend of mine.
- 32:30Speaker 1: So I had a friend over from America who was
- 32:32Speaker 1: an aussy and he brought his American friend. He rean
- 32:34Speaker 1: driving sort of out in the bushway and we're driving
- 32:37Speaker 1: down the highway in the middle of the night and
- 32:38Speaker 1: it was like pitch black, and an Emmy ran in
- 32:41Speaker 1: front of the car and he had never seen an
- 32:43Speaker 1: Amy before, and this American guy in the fact of
- 32:46Speaker 1: the car. He goes, what the fuck was that?
- 32:49Speaker 2: Oh God, oh shit, I thought these things weren't real.
- 32:52Speaker 2: And he was like, what the fuck was that? I
- 32:54Speaker 2: was like, I don't think the things were really These
- 32:56Speaker 2: things like from back in like like years and years ago,
- 32:59Speaker 2: but we thought are extinct.
- 33:00Speaker 1: He was like, shit, go bad. We've got to get
- 33:02Speaker 1: footage of it. We've got to get footage of it.
- 33:05Speaker 1: What pranks.
- 33:06Speaker 2: But just that initial what the fuck was that? Because
- 33:10Speaker 2: think about it, you've never heard of an emu. You've
- 33:12Speaker 2: never seen an emu. This giant, fucking fluffy thing on
- 33:15Speaker 2: two long legs with a long neck just runs.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Across the car. They're a weird looking beast.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was just like shoom straight in front
- 33:24Speaker 2: of the cargo blow, kind of like alien when it goes,
- 33:28Speaker 2: and it's just what the fuck was that? I thought,
- 33:32Speaker 2: I've got to use this bit and.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Any The other running I had with an animal was
- 33:37Speaker 1: when I was at boarding school. A timber top, which
- 33:41Speaker 1: is you know, in the mountains sort of it's not
- 33:44Speaker 1: necessarily in the bush, but it's bush adjacent. It's walking
- 33:48Speaker 1: between classes one day and what comes out of the scrub.
- 33:52Speaker 1: But a one bat, you know what a one bat is?
- 33:55Speaker 1: International lesson is hopefully know what a one mat is.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Like a cute little marsupial, a little tank on four leggs. Yeah,
- 34:01Speaker 1: they're pretty solid. They're pretty solid. I'm like, oh, that's
- 34:04Speaker 1: a door. Yeah, then it saw me and it started
- 34:07Speaker 1: charging towards me. And I mean, I'm like your American friend.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I mean, I'm like, I'm unfamiliar with a lot of
- 34:14Speaker 1: Australian fauna.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I was like, holy shit, just ran away because you
- 34:19Speaker 2: don't see these things in the wild very often. There's
- 34:21Speaker 2: always underground hiding in their dad.
- 34:23Speaker 1: And they look very cute, but they're chunky, chunky little monsters. Yeah.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Indeed, this one's on an anonymous anonymous member eight three.
- 34:32Speaker 2: I'm turning thirty this year. What life advice wisdom do
- 34:36Speaker 2: you wish each of you knew? Which life advice wisdom
- 34:39Speaker 2: do you wish each of you knew at thirty? My
- 34:43Speaker 2: advice is, I'm gitting that point in my life now.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I'm giving me thirty eight this year where my mortality
- 34:49Speaker 2: is starting to sort of hit me and it's going
- 34:51Speaker 2: don't second guess or put things off. If you have
- 34:55Speaker 2: the ability to go and go on an adventure or
- 34:57Speaker 2: an experience, don't push it off. Just go and do it,
- 35:01Speaker 2: because eventually you know you'll have it might be a
- 35:04Speaker 2: job that prevents you from go and do something.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Kids.
- 35:06Speaker 2: You know, when you have kids, it's prevents you've been
- 35:08Speaker 2: able to just get up and go and do something.
- 35:10Speaker 2: If you have the freedom to do something right now,
- 35:12Speaker 2: go and do it.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Yes, I agree with that. I'll hardly do it now.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Don't delay.
- 35:18Speaker 2: And if you're a drinker, cut back on your drinking
- 35:20Speaker 2: at an earlier age because it gets harder and harder
- 35:23Speaker 2: to get old. I mean, I've never really been much
- 35:24Speaker 2: of a drink we I've got a couple of friends
- 35:25Speaker 2: who just sort of come to me recently. They're like, Man,
- 35:28Speaker 2: I need to come back on my drinking. It's just
- 35:30Speaker 2: just hard.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm just so used to.
- 35:31Speaker 2: I've said a mention. One of my mates has a
- 35:32Speaker 2: couple of beers at dinner every night. He's trying not to.
- 35:34Speaker 2: It's like, it's just difficult.
- 35:36Speaker 1: It's just bad habits. The longer you let them go, Yeah,
- 35:38Speaker 1: routines get programmed into you. Practical advice, go for a run,
- 35:43Speaker 1: keep yourself, keep yourself, floss, floss your teeth. Invest a
- 35:49Speaker 1: small amount of money in like an index fund or
- 35:51Speaker 1: something like that. Every week, just put a couple of
- 35:53Speaker 1: bucks in compound. Interest is your friend.
- 35:55Speaker 2: And buy three books and try and read them this year.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Read books. Reading is just great for the brain, yep, body,
- 36:02Speaker 2: mind and soul. Just you know, find something for each
- 36:05Speaker 2: of those and do it on the regular. And one
- 36:07Speaker 2: final one here This is from James Tolstrup. He says
- 36:10Speaker 2: more of a comment than a question. No need to
- 36:12Speaker 2: read this one out if you feel it's too deep.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Just wanted to make you guys aware of the profound
- 36:15Speaker 2: impact you've had in my life. You've never met me,
- 36:17Speaker 2: but you guys were there during some pretty big events
- 36:20Speaker 2: for me. I was actually listening to forfing a discount
- 36:22Speaker 2: when I got ran over and dragged under a van
- 36:25Speaker 2: that plowed through a pedestrian crossing whilst I was on
- 36:27Speaker 2: a run. But more importantly, you guys kept me company
- 36:30Speaker 2: during lon recuperation, when I was teaching myself to hear
- 36:34Speaker 2: and feel pain again. See if you can guess my
- 36:35Speaker 2: favorite Sisters episode. I'm now pleased to share that I'm
- 36:38Speaker 2: two days from successfully completing a bi clip of Taiwan
- 36:41Speaker 2: and you guys are keeping me motivated during this insane headwinds.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Keep up the good content and thanks for.
- 36:46Speaker 1: The last while, and navigate life's highs and lows. Cheers James, James,
- 36:50Speaker 1: you are and I make this joke a lot but
- 36:54Speaker 1: we don't use the word hero very often. But holy moly,
- 36:56Speaker 1: that's great, man. I mean, I'm glad that you are
- 36:58Speaker 1: fully recovered. We're glad you're on the bike.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I love to know what episode I'm not making light
- 37:02Speaker 2: of the situation. What episode were you listening to when
- 37:04Speaker 2: you got run over? And like, so you're under the
- 37:06Speaker 2: bus and you're just hearing us speak bullshit.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah, imagine if my voice was the last thing in
- 37:11Speaker 1: her Sorry, no, no, but well, look, we're glad you're well.
- 37:16Speaker 1: It sounds like you're more than on the men. Sounds
- 37:18Speaker 1: like you are men dead. But yeah, more power to you.
- 37:23Speaker 1: This is congratulations. Keep navigating life highs and lows.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Yeah, now this one here also finally, quickly, this is
