- 0:00Hello there. Our mind holds the key to how we act and perceive things.
- 0:05Protecting the mind is very important for everyone, Christians and non-believers alike.
- 0:11How you think shapes what you do, what you attract into your life, and how you live.
- 0:17Your mind controls your conscious and unconscious state.
- 0:22In chapter 52 of the book, Your Life is Worth Living, Fulton Sheen gives his
- 0:27perspective on the mind and how to perfect it.
- 0:29In my simple words, it is the root of your being in happiness.
- 0:33It can take you down a path of self-abhorrence or arrogance.
- 0:38It needs watched and submitted to Jesus.
- 0:41What impacts your mind? I think what you read, what you spend time watching,
- 0:48doom-scrolling, who you spend your time with, your perception of others and
- 0:52yourself, not having guardrails around what your mind is being fed.
- 0:56All of this will result in strange behavior that is hard to explain even to yourself.
- 1:02For instance, you'll experience bouts of anger, preconceived notions put in
- 1:07place by something or someone other than you.
- 1:10You let these ideas get into your head without your control.
- 1:15I had the good fortune of resolving a conflict with a loved one recently,
- 1:20and I noticed that a lot of accusatory words were being thrown at me.
- 1:24They were not coming from a place of hate.
- 1:27They were coming from a place of strongholds that were embedded into the mind of this individual.
- 1:33When we sat down to parse it out and see that the issue at hand needed resolved
- 1:38with the data that we currently had and not the past, present or future,
- 1:42we were able to resolve it.
- 1:44But it gave me a chance to help them realize that their mind was drifting away
- 1:49from Jesus and hence the strongholds.
- 1:53When we do not protect our mind, we lose control to how we think and act.
- 1:58Satan and his minions get a chance to mess with us and make us feel like we
- 2:03are not in Jesus' loving embrace.
- 2:05It impacts our relationship with God and others. It is a slippery slope that,
- 2:10if not checked, will lead to lots of heartache and pain.
- 2:14How do we submit our mind to Jesus?
- 2:17First, easy step, is to spend time in Scripture.
- 2:22Second, when you have thoughts pop in your head, take them to Jesus.
- 2:27Initially, you will feel like everything is slowing down.
- 2:30But once it becomes a habit, it is like having a conversation in your head. Only it's with Jesus.
- 2:37Third, start your day with prayer. Pause every chance you get to pray and end your day with prayer.
- 2:44Ask God to lead and guide you through everything you think and do.
- 2:48Quote, Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against
- 2:54the knowledge of God bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
- 3:012 Corinthians 10.5,
- 3:06Jesus, Paul, and Isaiah in the Bible have really good advice on this topic,
- 3:11on how to renew your mind. This should not come as a surprise.
- 3:16Quote, Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
- 3:22with all your soul, and with all your mind. End quote.
- 3:28Matthew, chapter 22, verse 37.
- 3:32Quote, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing
- 3:37of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. End quote.
- 3:46Romans chapter 12 verse 2. Quote. Set your mind on things about, not on things on earth.
- 3:54End quote. Colossians chapter 3 verse 2.
- 3:58All this for the peace only he can give us. Protect your mind and enjoy the
- 4:04blessing you will experience.
- 4:06May peace reign your life. Quote, you will keep him in perfect peace whose mind
- 4:13is stayed on you because he trusts in you. End quote.
- 4:18Isaiah chapter 26 verse 3.
- 4:22Dear God, please help me stay close to you and never take my mind off of you.
- 4:29Help me protect my mind from the worldly noise that tries to separate me from you.
- 4:33May my thoughts and actions be for you and through you. In Jesus' holy name I pray. Amen.
