Why Didn’t Authorities Press Larry Visoski for More Answers (Part 2) · Beyond The Horizon

Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome back to the program. In
• 0:03
Speaker 1: this episode we're going to pick up where we left off,
• 0:06
Speaker 1: talking about Larry Vesosky. The government clearly understood that Vesosky
• 0:11
Speaker 1: mattered because federal prosecutors placed him before the jury during
• 0:14
Speaker 1: Maxwell's criminal trial. His testimony helped establish the internal architecture
• 0:19
Speaker 1: of Epstein's world before survivors testified about what occurred within it.
• 0:25
Speaker 1: That prosecutorial decision alone demonstrates that Vysotsky was not considered irrelevant,
• 0:31
Speaker 1: yet being useful enough to establish Epstein's operational environment raises
• 0:35
Speaker 1: another question about whether authorities fully explored contradictions, inconsistencies, or
• 0:42
Speaker 1: gaps between what employees said they observed and what survivors described.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: The point of an investigation is not to presume guilt,
• 0:51
Speaker 1: but to subject potentially important witnesses to documentary verification. With Vysotsky,
• 0:57
Speaker 1: decades of records existed against which his recollections could theoretically
• 1:01
Speaker 1: be compared, making his position exceptionally valuable to anyone determined
• 1:06
Speaker 1: to reconstruct the entire enterprise. Consider what a pilot necessarily
• 1:11
Speaker 1: knows even without ever witnessing conduct occurring behind a closed
• 1:15
Speaker 1: cabin door. He knows destinations because he must physically fly
• 1:18
Speaker 1: the aircraft to them. He knows approximate travel dates because
• 1:22
Speaker 1: he's responsible for making the flight happen. He knows many
• 1:26
Speaker 1: passengers because aviation regulations and operational requirements make passenger identity
• 1:32
Speaker 1: and aircraft loading relevant. He knows which locations are visited
• 1:36
Speaker 1: repeatedly and which journeys depart unexpectedly. He knows which employees
• 1:41
Speaker 1: communicate travel instructions and which individuals receive special treatment. He
• 1:46
Speaker 1: knows when aircraft are repositioned without Epstein aboard and when
• 1:50
Speaker 1: another crew member takes over. He knows how often particular
• 1:54
Speaker 1: properties are visited and whether certain passengers recur on particular routes.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: That's why Vysotsky's value to investigators should have extended far
• 2:02
Speaker 1: beyond asking the narrow question of whether he personally witnessed
• 2:06
Speaker 1: sexual activity aboard the plane. The famous cockpit door explanation
• 2:12
Speaker 1: illustrates exactly why the questioning surrounding Vysotsky has remained controversial.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: Vysotsky testified that the cockpit door was closed while he
• 2:20
Speaker 1: was flying and denied seeing sexual activity aboard Epstein's aircraft.
• 2:24
Speaker 1: Taken literally, that could perfectly well explain why a pilot
• 2:28
Speaker 1: actively controlling an aircraft did not observe events occurring inside
• 2:32
Speaker 1: the passenger cabin, but the relevant investigative inquiry should never
• 2:37
Speaker 1: have ended with whether the pilot physically watched the sex
• 2:40
Speaker 1: act while airborne. Epstein's operation extended across decades, thousands of miles,
• 2:46
Speaker 1: numerous residences, and countless interactions on the ground. Pilots leave cockpits,
• 2:52
Speaker 1: arrive at hangars, wait for passengers, observe departures, coordinate vehicles,
• 2:57
Speaker 1: communicate with staff and spend considerable time around employers outside
• 3:01
Speaker 1: the few hours during which they're manipulating aircraft control. Vesovsky's
• 3:07
Speaker 1: own long tenure meant his interaction with Epstein's universe necessarily
• 3:11
Speaker 1: extended across an enormous period. An investigator interested only in
• 3:16
Speaker 1: what he could see through a cockpit doorway would therefore
• 3:19
Speaker 1: be asking... an artificially narrow question. The meaningful issue was
• 3:24
Speaker 1: what patterns Vysotsky observed over nearly 30 years and whether
• 3:28
Speaker 1: those patterns matched what prosecutors eventually established about Epstein and Maxwell.
• 3:34
Speaker 1: The absence of direct eyewitness testimony to sexual conduct does
• 3:38
Speaker 1: not eliminate the enormous circumstantial and logistical knowledge a longtime
• 3:43
Speaker 1: insider like Vysotsky might possess. I think that Maxwell's trial
• 3:48
Speaker 1: demonstrated this distinction particularly well, because Vysotsky's testimony helped jurors
• 3:53
Speaker 1: understand that hierarchy. He portrayed Maxwell as an extremely important
• 3:58
Speaker 1: figure in Epstein's life, effectively identifying her as second only
• 4:02
Speaker 1: to Epstein within the environment he observed. And that was
• 4:05
Speaker 1: a scorcher, because Maxwell's defense attempted to distance her from
• 4:09
Speaker 1: the responsibility of Epstein's conduct. Vysotsky could speak to her
• 4:14
Speaker 1: importance because he had spent years watching how Epstein's world
• 4:17
Speaker 1: actually worked. That is institutional knowledge in its purest form.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: Organizations often have formal titles that tell outsiders very little,
• 4:27
Speaker 1: while employees understand exactly who possesses real authority. Vysotsky's description
• 4:33
Speaker 1: of Maxwell revealed that he understood at least some of
• 4:36
Speaker 1: those internal power dynamics. If he could identify the hierarchy
• 4:40
Speaker 1: at the very top, investigators had obvious reasons to ask
• 4:44
Speaker 1: what else he understood about the people operating beneath it.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: Who requested flights? Who arranged passengers? Who traveled repeatedly? Who
• 4:52
Speaker 1: greeted arrivals? Who controlled properties? And who communicated Epstein's instructions
• 4:57
Speaker 1: were all questions falling naturally within his observational universe. Once again,
• 5:03
Speaker 1: none of these answers necessarily would have implicated Vesasky himself,
• 5:07
Speaker 1: but they could have helped map a conspiracy much broader
• 5:09
Speaker 1: than two people eventually prosecuted federally. And this is why
• 5:15
Speaker 1: the government's historically narrow handling of the Epstein investigation becomes
• 5:19
Speaker 1: impossible to separate from the Vysotsky question. Epstein's criminal world
• 5:24
Speaker 1: contained recruiters, schedulers, household employees, pilots, financial professionals, property personnel,
• 5:30
Speaker 1: and numerous other people who interacted with different pieces of
• 5:34
Speaker 1: his existence. A serious enterprise investigation should have attempted to
• 5:39
Speaker 1: determine where innocent employment ended, where willful blindness may have begun,
• 5:44
Speaker 1: and where knowing facilitation could potentially be established. Those categories
• 5:49
Speaker 1: are legally and morally different, and collapsing them together would
• 5:54
Speaker 1: be unfair, but refusing to explore them would be equally unacceptable.
• 6:00
Speaker 1: Federal conspiracy law does not punish someone merely for working
• 6:03
Speaker 1: for a criminal, nor does association transform an employee into
• 6:07
Speaker 1: a conspirator. Prosecutors generally need evidence demonstrating knowing participation in
• 6:13
Speaker 1: an unlawful agreement or another independently chargeable offense. But determining
• 6:18
Speaker 1: whether such evidence exists requires aggressive investigation of the very
• 6:23
Speaker 1: insiders most capable of explaining the organization. And Vysotsky's extraordinarily
• 6:28
Speaker 1: long tenure put him near the top of that list. And,
• 6:33
Speaker 1: of course, Epstein's aircraft were particularly important because geography was
• 6:38
Speaker 1: central to his system. Survivors described abuse at multiple properties,
• 6:43
Speaker 1: and Epstein's airplanes provided the bridge connecting those properties. Zorro
• 6:48
Speaker 1: Ranch alone demonstrates why this matters because the secluded New
• 6:52
Speaker 1: Mexico compound sat far from the scrutiny surrounding Manhattan or
• 6:56
Speaker 1: Palm Beach. According to survivor accounts and subsequent investigations, Abuse
• 7:02
Speaker 1: occurred at the ranch, while New Mexico officials later complained
• 7:06
Speaker 1: that the property had never received the federal investigative attention
• 7:10
Speaker 1: its significance warranted. The failure to fully investigate Zorro Ranch
• 7:14
Speaker 1: when Epstein was alive also magnified the importance of people
• 7:17
Speaker 1: like Vysotsky. Investigators can recover physical evidence from a property,
• 7:22
Speaker 1: but they can't recover conversations that disappeared decades earlier unless
• 7:27
Speaker 1: witnesses remember them or records captured them. Employees become living
• 7:32
Speaker 1: archives in cases involving long-running organizations. A long-time pilot can
• 7:38
Speaker 1: potentially remember unusual passenger requests, recurring travel patterns, periods of
• 7:43
Speaker 1: intense activity, and relationships that documents alone can't explain. And
• 7:48
Speaker 1: these are exactly the details that transform isolated documents into
• 7:52
Speaker 1: a coherent, investigative chronology. Vysotsky's decades of continuity made them
• 7:58
Speaker 1: unusually valuable documents. because employees came and went while he remained.
• 8:03
Speaker 1: And allowing such institutional knowledge to disappear without exhaustive public
• 8:07
Speaker 1: accounting represents an enormous missed opportunity in any investigation of
• 8:13
Speaker 1: Epstein's network. Then, of course, there's the issue of loyalty,
• 8:17
Speaker 1: a subject that can't be ignored when analyzing Epstein's inner circle.
• 8:21
Speaker 1: Epstein did not simply employ Vysotsky briefly before moving on
• 8:25
Speaker 1: to another pilot. He kept him around for almost the
• 8:28
Speaker 1: entirety of the period, during which Epstein developed a lifestyle
• 8:32
Speaker 1: that eventually became inseparable from allegations of systematic sexual abuse.
• 8:37
Speaker 1: Long-term employment creates economic dependence and often personal loyalty, especially
• 8:43
Speaker 1: in the rarefied environment of private aviation and Reports and
• 8:47
Speaker 1: records concerning land, financial arrangements, and other benefits reinforce the
• 8:51
Speaker 1: impression that Vysotsky's relationship with Epstein exceeded a completely impersonal
• 8:57
Speaker 1: commercial transaction. And while that might not establish criminality, it
• 9:02
Speaker 1: does establish a relationship worthy of careful examination because loyalty
• 9:06
Speaker 1: can influence what employees notice, what they rationalized, and what
• 9:10
Speaker 1: they eventually tell investigators. Epstein possessed enormous wealth and could
• 9:15
Speaker 1: substantially improve the lives of people whose cooperation he valued.
• 9:19
Speaker 1: Investigators confronting such a structure should always examine whether benefits
• 9:24
Speaker 1: were ordinary compensation, generosity, retention incentives, or something more complicated.
• 9:31
Speaker 1: The public deserves to know whether those questions were pursued
• 9:34
Speaker 1: with the intensity appropriate to a decades-long sex trafficking investigation.
• 9:39
Speaker 1: rather than simply assuming that employment relationships were innocent or
• 9:43
Speaker 1: sinister without doing the work. One of the most frustrating
• 9:48
Speaker 1: aspects of the Epstein saga is that the public repeatedly
• 9:51
Speaker 1: received fragments rather than a complete organizational picture. We learned
• 9:56
Speaker 1: about the flight logs without always receiving a comprehensive explanation
• 10:01
Speaker 1: of the flights we learned about assistance without seeing every
• 10:04
Speaker 1: investigative interview conducted with them we learned about properties long
• 10:09
Speaker 1: after opportunities to search them had vanished we learned about
• 10:12
Speaker 1: financial relationships through civil lawsuits years after Epstein's first prosecution
• 10:18
Speaker 1: We learn through Maxwell's trial that long-time employees could describe
• 10:22
Speaker 1: internal hierarchy even while denying awareness of criminal conduct. Bososki
• 10:27
Speaker 1: embodies that fragmentation perhaps better than almost anyone. His name
• 10:32
Speaker 1: appeared across flight records, testimony, correspondence, and the broader history
• 10:36
Speaker 1: of Epstein's properties, but the public has never received anything
• 10:40
Speaker 1: resembling a complete prosecutorial accounting of what authorities determined about
• 10:45
Speaker 1: his knowledge. Look, at the end of the day, Larry
• 10:48
Speaker 1: Vesosky matters because Jeffrey Epstein could not have maintained his
• 10:52
Speaker 1: extraordinary lifestyle alone. Epstein required people who flew airplanes, maintained properties,
• 10:57
Speaker 1: arranged schedules, handled money, answered telephones, coordinated visitors, and solved problems.
• 11:03
Speaker 1: Some of those people may have been entirely innocent employees
• 11:07
Speaker 1: performing legitimate jobs for an employer whose criminal conduct remained
• 11:11
Speaker 1: hidden from them. Others could theoretically have possessed varying degrees
• 11:15
Speaker 1: of knowledge, suspicion, or involvement, and only evidence can tell
• 11:19
Speaker 1: us where particular individuals belonged on that spectrum. Vysotsky's longevity
• 11:26
Speaker 1: and proximity make him especially important because very few people
• 11:30
Speaker 1: observed Epstein's movements over such an extended period. He witnessed
• 11:35
Speaker 1: the evolution of Epstein's empire from the early 90s through
• 11:38
Speaker 1: the years of criminal investigation, conviction, renewed social rehabilitation, and
• 11:43
Speaker 1: eventual federal arrest. He transported Epstein while the financier accumulated
• 11:48
Speaker 1: powerful acquaintances, and maintained residences across multiple jurisdictions. He watched
• 11:54
Speaker 1: Maxwell occupy a position important enough that he later described
• 11:58
Speaker 1: her as Epstein's number two. He remained close enough to
• 12:02
Speaker 1: the operation that prosecutors called him during the most consequential
• 12:06
Speaker 1: Epstein-related criminal trial ever completed. And that's precisely why the
• 12:10
Speaker 1: lack of broader accountability surrounding Epstein's infrastructure remains so maddening.
• 12:15
Speaker 1: The federal government successfully convicted Glenn Maxwell, proving beyond a
• 12:19
Speaker 1: reasonable doubt that Epstein did not operate entirely alone. Once
• 12:23
Speaker 1: that proposition became legally established, the obvious investigative question was
• 12:29
Speaker 1: how far the architecture of assistance extended. Not every employee
• 12:33
Speaker 1: was a conspirator, and accusing people without evidence just produces
• 12:37
Speaker 1: the very kind of injustice legitimate investigations are supposed to prevent.
• 12:42
Speaker 1: But an organization capable of moving Epstein, staff, young women, guests,
• 12:47
Speaker 1: and associates across numerous properties for years unquestionably depended upon infrastructure.
• 12:53
Speaker 1: And aviation was one of the most important pieces of
• 12:56
Speaker 1: that infrastructure. And Larry Vesosky sat inside that aviation operation
• 13:01
Speaker 1: longer than anybody. And that's why it's important that Vesosky
• 13:05
Speaker 1: is not understood as just a byproduct or somebody in
• 13:09
Speaker 1: the back pages. He occupied a front row position to
• 13:13
Speaker 1: the logistics of Epstein's existence for a period spanning nearly
• 13:16
Speaker 1: 30 years. He knew the aircraft, the destinations, the properties,
• 13:20
Speaker 1: the travel rhythms, and many of the personalities passing through
• 13:23
Speaker 1: Epstein's world. Epstein apparently trusted him enough to maintain the
• 13:27
Speaker 1: relationship across decades and extend benefits well beyond a fleeting
• 13:31
Speaker 1: commercial association. Maxwell's prosecution demonstrated that Vysotsky understood at least
• 13:38
Speaker 1: part of the hierarchy surrounding Epstein. while released correspondence has
• 13:42
Speaker 1: further illuminated how deeply aviation was integrated into Epstein's day-to-day logistics.
• 13:48
Speaker 1: Whether that knowledge ever crossed the line into criminal awareness
• 13:52
Speaker 1: is a question that must be answered with evidence. But
• 13:56
Speaker 1: there should be no ambiguity whatsoever about whether authorities had
• 14:00
Speaker 1: reason to investigate the question aggressively. When a convicted sex
• 14:04
Speaker 1: offender maintained a sprawling interstate and international operation, involving private aircraft,
• 14:10
Speaker 1: remote properties, and the movement of young women? The long-time
• 14:14
Speaker 1: chief pilot was an obvious witness whose knowledge demanded exhaustive examination.
• 14:20
Speaker 1: The enduring scandal is not that the public can conclusively
• 14:23
Speaker 1: declare Larry Vesosky a criminal, because the publicly established record
• 14:28
Speaker 1: does not justify that conclusion. The enduring scandal is that
• 14:32
Speaker 1: everything we know about Jeffrey Epstein, Americans are still left asking...
• 14:37
Speaker 1: what one of his longest serving and most trusted insiders knew,
• 14:40
Speaker 1: what investigators learned from him, and why the government has
• 14:44
Speaker 1: never provided anything close to a satisfactory answer. All the
• 14:51
