- 0:00Hey everybody, this is your GM, your bad bro
- 0:01Domus, your hopium, hopium, hopium, hopium, hopium
- 0:04dealer, your GM who currently is not on a team
- 0:06right now, but don't you worry about it, Kale,
- 0:08here to bring you episode 12 of the Stack and
- 0:10Shed series. Now in this series, we're covering
- 0:12all 32 teams, so everybody gets a chance to be
- 0:15talked about, all right? Now in this series,
- 0:17we're covering a few different topics and they
- 0:19include what went wrong, what do they need, Stack
- 0:23or Shed, their draft picks, One move I would
- 0:26do in their cap space. Right now, in this episode,
- 0:28we're going up north. We're going where all the
- 0:31cheese is at. We're talking about the Packers.
- 0:33So for all you Packers fans out there that's
- 0:35still wearing that Super Bowl 31 shirt, for all
- 0:38of you that's still wearing that Super Bowl 31
- 0:40cheese head, for all of you that's still wearing
- 0:42that Super Bowl 31 hoodie, throw that stuff away,
- 0:44get you some new stuff, and let's lock in. All
- 0:55right, let's get into it. So what went wrong
- 0:57in the Packers season? And I will venture to
- 0:59say it was more lows than highs. Going into last
- 1:01season, I believe the Packers were one of the
- 1:03best teams in the NFC, and I believe they were
- 1:06a playoff team. But I also realized that they
- 1:08were just missing one pivotal piece to really
- 1:11take this team to the next level. And that missing
- 1:14piece was Micah Parsons. Now, in no way was I
- 1:17expecting this team to have the perfect season
- 1:19like how the Dolphins did back in the day, but
- 1:22I was expecting this team to be a little bit
- 1:24more dominant. When we look at some of the losses
- 1:26they had this past season, it's a little bit
- 1:28of a head -scratcher. You lost to the Browns,
- 1:3113 -10. You lost to the Panthers, 16 -13. You
- 1:35lost to the Eagles, 10 -7. You lost to the Broncos,
- 1:3834 -26. You lost to the Bears, 22 -16. You lost
- 1:42to the Ravens, 41 -24. And then you lost to the
- 1:46Vikings 16 -3. You literally ended the season
- 1:49on a four -game losing streak. Now, I know there's
- 1:52some Packers fans out there that are saying,
- 1:54well, we lost Micah Parsons during the Broncos
- 1:56game. And to those people, I say this. Whenever
- 1:59you make a significant trade like how you guys
- 2:01just did for someone like Micah Parsons, the
- 2:03level of excuses is minimized. Because at the
- 2:06end of the day, you have just as much talent
- 2:08as all the other contending NFC teams did. So
- 2:11there's no excuse for you at this point. Either
- 2:14you can get the job done or you can't. There
- 2:16were also times where Jordan Love wasn't playing
- 2:18his best ball. He'll go through a stretch in
- 2:20maybe two or three games where he's pushing the
- 2:22ball down the field, the receivers are eating,
- 2:24the tight ends are eating, the running backs
- 2:26are eating, and then they'll go through a phase
- 2:28where they're not playing their best ball, Jordan
- 2:31Love can't push the ball down the field, the
- 2:33offense is stagnant, the run game is non -existent,
- 2:36and you're questioning what's going on. And there
- 2:38were also times where Matt LaFleur's play calling
- 2:40was very questionable. Some games, his play calling
- 2:43was a little bit more aggressive. And then there
- 2:45were other games where his play calling was a
- 2:47little bit more reserved or just downright unorthodox.
- 2:51Even when we look at the defense, there were
- 2:53times where the secondary looked really good.
- 2:56They were locked down. They were making plays.
- 2:58They were all over the field and they were physical.
- 3:01And then there were other times where the pass
- 3:03rush, for instance, couldn't get to the quarterback,
- 3:05couldn't stop the run, couldn't make any tackles,
- 3:08couldn't shed their blocks, couldn't do anything.
- 3:10Now, with that being said, what do the Packers
- 3:12need? And that is more consistency. And this
- 3:14isn't directed at just one player or one coach
- 3:17or one side of the ball. Everybody needs to be
- 3:21more consistent because you need to maximize
- 3:23this window that you have right now because you
- 3:26can't trade away the assets that you just traded
- 3:28away to get someone like a Micah Parsons and
- 3:30not go to the Super Bowl and win. Even Matt LaFleur's
- 3:34play calling needs to be more consistent because
- 3:36at the end of the day, what separates the winners
- 3:38from the losers is the small details. So if you
- 3:42allow the small details to go unnoticed and unchecked
- 3:45for an entire season, guess what? Those problems
- 3:48are going to emerge in the playoffs. But if you
- 3:50are an ass about it and you are very meticulous
- 3:53about those small details, I guarantee you, you're
- 3:57going to see a better result and I guarantee
- 3:59you, you will make it to the Super Bowl. Now,
- 4:01with that being said, the question. we all need
- 4:02to ask ourselves is stack or shed and I will
- 4:05eventually say stack and the reason why I say
- 4:07that is because this team is still competitive
- 4:09this team is still one of the better teams in
- 4:11the NFC all they need to do is get their act
- 4:14together and the only way that they do that is
- 4:17if they come in with the same mindset that we
- 4:20are all here for one goal and one goal only and
- 4:23that's to win it all Because if this Packers
- 4:25team cannot win with the amount of talent they
- 4:27have on both sides of the ball, then this will
- 4:30go down as one of the worst trades in NFL history.
- 4:33And I don't think they want that title hanging
- 4:35over their heads. Now, with that being said,
- 4:37when we look at their draft picks, they have
- 4:38their second, their third, their fourth, fifth,
- 4:41sixth, and three seventh round picks. Now, luckily,
- 4:44the Packers have a great track record of drafting
- 4:46and developing players outside of the first round.
- 4:49So I think the Packers are contempt of where
- 4:51they are right now, and I truly believe they're
- 4:53not going to do anything crazy on draft day to
- 4:56try to get into the first round. Now with that
- 4:59being said, the one move that I would do if I
- 5:01was the GM for the Packers is draft a defensive
- 5:03player. By losing Quay Walker, Rashawn Gary,
- 5:06and Kenny Clark, the Packers need to find a way
- 5:08to refill those positions with young, cheap,
- 5:11and productive talent. Now luckily this is a
- 5:13defensive draft class, so I believe they'll be
- 5:15able to accomplish that. Now the question is
- 5:18this, what defensive position are you going to
- 5:20address first? Are you going to go after a defensive
- 5:22tackle? Are you going to go after a pass rusher?
- 5:25Because personally, I'm attacking the defensive
- 5:27line first. If you can get someone like a Dante
- 5:29Corleone, if you can get someone like a Daryl
- 5:32Jackson, if you can get someone like a Lee Hunter,
- 5:34I think that's a really good start. Because at
- 5:36the end of the day, you want a defensive line
- 5:38that is just as productive with or without Micah
- 5:41Parsons. Now, I know there's some Packers fans
- 5:43that disagree with my stance, but let me just
- 5:45explain it to you. What we're starting to see
- 5:47now is that offenses are starting to operate
- 5:50in 12 and 13 personnel double tight end formations.
- 5:54And the only way that you can mitigate that is
- 5:56if you have a ferocious defensive line who was
- 5:59able to get through the chip blocks, create pressure
- 6:01on the quarterback, stop the run, and do everything
- 6:04else that a highly productive defensive line
- 6:06is supposed to do. Looking at their cap situation,
- 6:08they have 23 .1 million. And I don't expect for
- 6:12them to do anything with that anytime soon. A
- 6:14majority of that is going to go to them. draft
- 6:16picks, and then the rest of it is probably going
- 6:18to go to that second and third wave of free agents
- 6:20that they're going to sign. Now, I remember last
- 6:22year the Packers had interest in trying to trade
- 6:25for David Njoku, but were unable to do so. Now
- 6:28that he's a free agent, do you try to sign him?
- 6:30Do you try to go after an offensive lineman?
- 6:32Do you try to go after another corner? Do you
- 6:35go after a veteran defensive lineman? Because
- 6:37you have a lot of options. You can get someone
- 6:40like a Cam Jordan. You can get someone like a
- 6:43Yerter Gross Motos. You can get someone like
- 6:45a Bobby Wagner. You can get someone like a Joey
- 6:47Bosa, for instance. You have a plethora of different
- 6:50options, and I guarantee you, not all of these
- 6:53options are going to be super expensive. At best,
- 6:56you're probably going to give one of these veterans
- 6:57a one -year deal that's probably between $5 to
- 7:01$12 million. That's not bad at all. But only
- 7:03time will tell. But I'm going to end this episode
