- 0:00Happy Monday.
- 0:01Today I wanna talk about the power of lava cake, specifically chocolate lava cake.
- 0:07Let me explain.
- 0:09A couple days ago, I came across this recipe online for a healthy version of chocolate lava cake.
- 0:15I'm trying to manage my blood sugar levels, so I got really, really excited when I saw something that was low glycemic, low carb, low sugar, and had chocolate in it at the same time.
- 0:28You make it with cottage cheese, and eggs, and cocoa powder, and sugar-free chocolate chips, and all these good things.
- 0:34Anyway, this episode really isn't about chocolate cake, although there are very few things in life that excite me quite as much as anything chocolate, really.
- 0:44But last Monday night, when I saw this video, I decided that the next morning I was gonna make this for breakfast.
- 0:52And just the thought of this chocolate, we're gonna call it chocolate cake even though it doesn't really have the texture of cake, but I was gonna have this with my tall dark roast coffee.
- 1:04Coffee and chocolate, dynamic duo.
- 1:08Just thinking about it made me feel rather unstoppable.
- 1:12So fast-forward to Tuesday morning, I had my usual morning fatigue.
- 1:16I don't typically wake up refreshed.
- 1:19It's still a life goal to wake up feeling like I've actually slept, and although I'm not there yet, I am convinced it will get there.
- 1:27So anyway, I reached over to hit the snooze button, and all of a sudden I remembered, today is the day.
- 1:35Today is the day I'm gonna test this Instagram recipe and see if it's as delicious as it looked online.
- 1:42And believe it or not, I didn't even stay in bed for the length of my snooze because I had something calling me into the day, and that made me realize how infrequently I have something that calls me into the day.
- 1:57I don't wanna suggest that I don't like my day job or that I don't enjoy aspects of parenting and all of those things, but because they're part of the everyday, they don't necessarily have that same spark of anticipation.
- 2:11And I don't eat chocolate lava cake every day, although I might start.
- 2:16And that morning, I didn't have to push and shove myself out of bed because I felt pulled towards the day, and I think there's something in that.
- 2:26So much of life requires us to push ourselves, motivate ourselves, you know, get up, get moving, do the thing, be disciplined, be responsible, and all of that.
- 2:36But what if we also gave ourselves things that pulled us forward?
- 2:41Little things that made us actually wanna get up and enter our lives.
- 2:46So I guess that's my invitation for me and maybe for you, too.
- 2:52What's something, maybe something really small, that you could give yourself to look forward to?
- 2:58Something that could call you into your day?
- 3:01It doesn't have to be exciting to anyone else.
- 3:04It's all about what works for you.
- 3:08Although if you want the chocolate lava cake recipe, I'll put it in the show notes.
- 3:13Although you've been forewarned, it has more of a cottage cheese mousse texture than an actual lava cake.
- 3:21But apparently that was still enough to get me out of bed.
- 3:24So what might call you into the day tomorrow?
- 3:28Have a good one.
