- 0:40fun. Tune in every Monday for the Revolution of Purpose solo show and every
- 0:44Thursday for Revolution of Purpose Conversations.
- 0:48Welcome back to the Revolution of Purpose podcast. I'm John Streit,
- 0:51and I'm so glad that you're here with me today. So, today we're
- 0:54going to be talking about the principle that has fascinated me for a long
- 0:58time, and that is the vacuum law of prosperity.
- 1:01If you've studied prosperity consciousness before,
- 1:04particularly the teachings of Catherine Ponder, you may have
- 1:08encountered this idea. When we release the— what
- 1:11no longer serves us, we create space for something
- 1:14new. We spend so much of our lives trying to acquire more.
- 1:19We try to accomplish more, to become more, but sometimes
- 1:23the most powerful thing that we can do is release what no longer
- 1:27belongs in the life that we are creating. And here's what makes this principle
- 1:31so fascinating. It applies to far more than our
- 1:35possessions. It applies to our opportunities, our schedules,
- 1:38our beliefs, and even the way that we see ourselves.
- 1:42I want to walk you through 6 specific examples today.
- 1:46And as you listen, don't just think about what you want to bring into your
- 1:49life. Ask yourself what might be standing in the way and
- 1:54maybe it's time to let go of. So let's begin in nature.
- 1:57Imagine a garden that hasn't been tended in a while. You know,
- 2:01the weeds have taken over, the plants have spread out, the soil
- 2:05beneath them is shaded by all of that growth.
- 2:08And down in that soil, there may be seeds that have been lying dormant for
- 2:12a long time. The potential for new life is there, but the
- 2:16conditions haven't been right. Then one day you take the time to clear
- 2:20out that garden. You put on your gloves, you pull the weeds, trim the overgrowth.
- 2:25And let sunlight finally reach that ground again. With the
- 2:29right moisture and conditions, some of those seeds will begin
- 2:33to sprout. Think about that. You didn't necessarily have to even plant something
- 2:37new. You just changed the conditions for what was already
- 2:41there. I think about how that happens in our lives.
- 2:44How many dreams have we set aside because we couldn't see a way
- 2:48forward? How many gifts have we stopped using because
- 2:51life just got crowded? How many ideas have
- 2:55we been waiting patiently for our attention? If we just create
- 2:59the time to give them that focus, maybe the problem isn't that the
- 3:03potential is missing. Maybe it's buried beneath those distractions,
- 3:08the fear, the commitments that are absorbing all of our energy.
- 3:13And I wanna be careful here. Clearing a garden does not guarantee
- 3:17that every seed that was laying dormant will grow. Growth still takes care
- 3:21and time and the right conditions, but without clearing the
- 3:25space, some possibilities may never even have a chance.
- 3:28Sometimes the potential is already there. We just
- 3:32need to let the sunlight in. Here's a more everyday
- 3:36picture for you. Imagine that you've picked out a new sofa for your living room
- 3:39and you love it. You can see exactly where it belongs,
- 3:42but your old sofa is still sitting in that spot.
- 3:46So before the new one arrives, you make arrangements to move the
- 3:50old one out. I remember a story that Bob Proctor shared
- 3:54of 2 friends of his that he would go and visit them.
- 3:57And the friend's wife said, you know, I don't like to sit
- 4:00in that living room because I don't like the curtains. And Bob
- 4:05was like, you like the curtains? Fine. She's like, no, I really don't like the
- 4:08curtains. And he said, well, then why do you still have them? And all of
- 4:12a sudden, he said his friend's looking at him like, what are you about to
- 4:15do? Is my wife about to start spending some money? And so Bob tells her,
- 4:18if you didn't like the curtains, you would take them down. And then you would
- 4:22be sitting in a room without curtains, which means you would find new ones and
- 4:26put them back up. And so that's what they did. They took down those curtains,
- 4:29they sat in the room without curtains until she found the one she wanted.
- 4:33And finally, she stopped accepting something that she didn't like
- 4:37and changed it with something that she really enjoyed. And then
- 4:41that meant that they started using that room again, they started hosting
- 4:45people in that room again, because she actually liked the environment. And going
- 4:49back to the sofa analogy, here's the important part. There might
- 4:52not be anything wrong with the old sofa. It could be comfortable.
- 4:56It could be familiar. It could be part of your home for years. You don't
- 5:00have to hate it to release it. You can appreciate
- 5:04what something has meant in your life and still recognize that that
- 5:08season is over, that it's time to change. And of course,
- 5:12that applies to more than furniture. We can be grateful
- 5:15for a chapter of our lives without insisting that it become the whole story.
- 5:20And that brings us to a more challenging example.
- 5:24One of the greatest obstacles of an extraordinary life can be
- 5:27a perfectly acceptable one. Let that sink in a minute.
- 5:31So sometimes what holds us back isn't something terrible, it's something
- 5:36good. A good job. It's fine. A good opportunity.
- 5:40Oh, that's fine. A routine that works well. Ah,
- 5:43that's fine. A role that we've learned to play well.
- 5:46You know what? It's fine. And because it's good, because it's
- 5:50fine, we feel almost guilty imagining something different.
- 5:55Maybe you've been offered an opportunity that looks great
- 5:59on paper, but something in you knows that it doesn't align with where you're
- 6:03headed. Or maybe you're in a position that once challenged you and now
- 6:07just keeps you comfortably repeating what you already know.
- 6:11The question isn't, is this good? Is this
- 6:14fine? The question is, is this right for
- 6:18the person I am becoming? Of course, I'm not
- 6:22suggesting that you abandon all your responsibilities and make impulsive decisions.
- 6:26Discernment matters. Sometimes the wise choice is to stay,
- 6:30to prepare and make a thoughtful transition. But I do want
- 6:34to challenge the assumption that gratitude requires us to stay where we are.
- 6:38Sometimes we hold on to something not because it
- 6:42is right for our future, but because we're used to it. And so we
- 6:46decide we're gonna stay grateful for it and bloom where we're planted
- 6:49with no even possibility of the thought of moving
- 6:53forward, all because we owe an allegiance to what it meant to our past,
- 6:57but not a plan for how it can be incorporated into our
- 7:01future. Gratitude does not require us to remain exactly
- 7:05who we are or where we are. You can honor the opportunity
- 7:09that brought you this far, and still make room for the opportunity that
- 7:13takes you further. Now let's talk about something almost all of us
- 7:17can relate to, and that is just being busy in general. Have you ever had
- 7:21a day when you worked from morning until night, you checked
- 7:25things off your list, you answered messages, you handled problems, and at the end of
- 7:29the day you realized you had really not done anything that moved the closer— moved
- 7:34the needle closer to where you wanted to be in your life? Being busy
- 7:37is not the same thing as moving forward.
- 7:40Imagine someone who was always dreaming about writing a book
- 7:44and they leave a message worth sharing. You know, they know that
- 7:48they have this idea inside of them that they need to get out.
- 7:51They even know what the first chapter might be about. But whenever someone asks
- 7:56about it, they say, I just don't have time. Well, maybe their schedule really
- 7:59is demanding, but suppose that they look carefully and
- 8:03find a few commitments that they could step away from. Maybe 30 minutes
- 8:07of habitual scrolling that could replace with writing. Suddenly the
- 8:11dream has a place to live in their calendar.
- 8:1530 minutes a day might not sound like much, but it's 30 minutes
- 8:18of showing up with focused action toward their goal of writing a
- 8:23book. And that matters. This is where the vacuum law becomes practical
- 8:27in our everyday. If every hour is already claimed,
- 8:31a meaningful new pursuit needs an intentional place to
- 8:35live. Maybe you don't need more time. Maybe you need to reclaim some of that
- 8:38time that you're giving to things that no longer align with your purpose.
- 8:42And sometimes that means saying no to something perfectly good
- 8:46so that you can say yes to something deeply meaningful.
- 8:50And I want to take this principle deeper because the most important space
- 8:54that we create may not be in our home or in our calendar. It may
- 8:58be in our understanding of our own identity. Imagine someone who
- 9:02has always described themselves as shy. Maybe they were the
- 9:06quiet kid growing up. Maybe they had an embarrassing experience speaking in
- 9:10front of a class. Somewhere along the way, they began saying,
- 9:14I'm just not someone who speaks in front of people. Years later,
- 9:18they realize they have a message that they want to share. They want
- 9:22to use your voice. They want to lead. They want to teach. They want to
- 9:24inspire, maybe even stand on a stage.
- 9:28But each time an opportunity appears, that familiar voice returns.
- 9:32That's not who you are. You are not a speaker. You've always been
- 9:36shy. Those are the cards that you were dealt. You're too introverted.
- 9:40They can take classes, they can practice their delivery,
- 9:43they can learn wonderful speaking techniques, and those things matter.
- 9:47But they also have to question that old story that says their past
- 9:52is a permanent definition of their future. Please pardon this
- 9:55interruption to your podcast episode. This will not take but a minute. Before we continue,
- 9:59I want to ask you something. Do you know that you're capable of more,
- 10:02but your life right now just isn't fully reflecting the person you
- 10:07know you can become? Then I want to personally invite you to schedule a Shift

- 11:14Every time you do that, every time you engage, you are helping to spread this
- 11:18message and inspire someone else to create their best life through
- 11:22also living their own revolution of purpose. Now let's get you
- 11:26back to the Revolution of Purpose podcast. One of the principles that I teach
- 11:30is be it and you will see it. And that doesn't mean pretending
- 11:33that you already have every skill. It means beginning to relate
- 11:38to yourself as someone capable of learning and growing and acting
- 11:42from that new identity. A person who is becoming a speaker
- 11:46starts speaking. Even if their voice shakes at first.
- 11:50A person who is becoming a leader starts making decisions even
- 11:54before they feel completely confident. And each time they take
- 11:58that action, they gather the evidence that the old
- 12:01story was never the whole truth. What if the greatest
- 12:04thing you need to release isn't something that you own, something you
- 12:09do, or somewhere you work? What if the greatest thing that you need to release
- 12:13is actually an outdated belief that you hold about who
- 12:17you are. There's one more thing that many of us hold tightly to, and that
- 12:21is our need to control exactly how life unfolds.
- 12:24And I totally understand this. It is human nature. We want
- 12:28to control it. But there is a difference between manifesting
- 12:32and controlling. Maybe you have a goal that you've been working toward
- 12:36for years, and you've pictured the opportunity, the people that are going
- 12:39to be involved, the exact sequence of events that will get you there.
- 12:43Having that vision is powerful. And you know, I believe in
- 12:46clear goals, writing them down, imagining what is possible,
- 12:50taking purposeful action. But sometimes we become
- 12:53so attached to the one route that we
- 12:57think will get us to our goals that we stop noticing other possible
- 13:00roads to get us there. What if the opportunity that you've been hoping for arrives
- 13:05in a form you never even What if the person who opens the door
- 13:09isn't the person you expected to open the door? It isn't that
- 13:13client that you've been trying to convince to work with you.
- 13:16What if the path forward requires a different first step
- 13:20than what you've planned, or a different fifth step, or a different tenth
- 13:24step? Here's the distinction that I want you to remember: be committed
- 13:28to the destination, but remain open to
- 13:32how you get there. Releasing control does not mean becoming
- 13:36passive. It means doing your part without demanding that
- 13:39every person, event, outcome, and the universe
- 13:43as a whole conforms to your exact script. You can
- 13:46pursue a vision with discipline and still remain curious.
- 13:51You can take bold action, but still leave room for
- 13:55surprise. Sometimes what we realize isn't the dream. It's our insistence
- 14:00that the dream must happen in only one way. Here's what
- 14:04I want you to understand about prosperity. It isn't simply about
- 14:07accumulating money or possessions. It's about experiencing abundance
- 14:12in the areas of life that matter to you most.
- 14:15It's not just about money. Prosperity is about
- 14:19relationships. Abundance is about your peace,
- 14:22your opportunities, your joy, your purpose. And the vacuum law
- 14:26of prosperity isn't just some promise that if you throw
- 14:30something away, something better will magically appear tomorrow. It's instead an
- 14:34invitation to live with intention. To notice
- 14:38what is consuming your attention and to create conditions
- 14:42in which new possibilities can grow.
- 14:45And that, my friends, begins with a choice. I'd like to
- 14:48leave you today with 3 questions to consider. If you
- 14:52can write these down, that would be great. If you're driving right now, obviously you
- 14:55can write them down later. But first, what am I holding onto
- 15:00that no longer serves the purpose I am becoming? An important distinction here is
- 15:04to look at the identity of who you are as the wish fulfilled,
- 15:08as who you are as someone who is living this goal-achieved life
- 15:12you want to live. Look at it through the lens of that identity, not the
- 15:16person that got you to today, but the person you desire to be tomorrow.
- 15:20That new reality you're manifesting and creating. And then say,
- 15:23what am I holding on to that no longer serves
- 15:27that person I'm becoming? The second question: what am I
- 15:31saying yes to that is preventing me from saying yes
- 15:35to something more meaningful? Just yesterday I had someone present me
- 15:39with an opportunity and they asked me if it was something I could do.
- 15:41And I had to say no. I had to say no because the time commitment
- 15:45I knew would not be something I could do while working for my
- 15:49business, working for the speaking events that I have lined up, working for my
- 15:53coaching clients that are working with me, working for planning the next month
- 15:57or two of the podcast. Like, I'm just like, I, I know I can't commit
- 16:00to that. So I said no to that to keep room
- 16:04for the things that I'm working toward that match my identity of my wish
- 16:07fulfilled. And the third question is this: what is one thing
- 16:11that I can release today to create space
- 16:15for the life I desire? And y'all, I'm saying one thing,
- 16:19and that one thing is important because maybe that one thing is a distraction
- 16:22that you could release, or maybe it's a commitment that you've outgrown.
- 16:25Maybe it's a belief you can let go of that you've repeated for so
- 16:29long that you've now mistaken this for truth.
- 16:33You know, some things can be true about you when you were 19,
- 16:3620, 25 years old that aren't true about you when
- 16:39you're 30, 35, and 40 years old. There are things that were true
- 16:43about you as a child that are not true about you as an adult,
- 16:46and that's okay. But we can't live in that old
- 16:49truth and expect it to fit who we are in the present. I want you
- 16:54to choose one specific action that you can take this week, clear the space,
- 16:58and then use that space for something that matters.
- 17:02Because making room is only the beginning. What you choose to
- 17:06nurture in that room matters because that is what you're choosing to
- 17:10get you to the life you desire to live, to the goal that you're
- 17:14desiring, to, to that, that purpose deep within you that you know is
- 17:18there for a reason. You have a light, you need to
- 17:21shine it. So choose the actions that are going to get you to that light.
- 17:25And if that means letting go of some of those old actions,
- 17:28create the room for new actions to come.
- 17:31Remember the garden that we talked about earlier? Those seeds did not suddenly
- 17:35acquire the potential to grow when the sunlight reached them. That potential
- 17:40was already there. And I wonder how much potential is already
- 17:43within you today, waiting for you to create the
- 17:47conditions for it to emerge. Maybe it's time to release
- 17:52that old belief. Maybe it's time to let go of that distraction. Maybe it's
- 17:56time to walk away from something good because you know that
- 17:59you're being called towards something great. Whatever it is, remember this: you
- 18:03don't always have to add more to your life to experience
- 18:07more from your life. Sometimes the greatest transformation begins with what
- 18:12you're finally willing to let go of that makes room for more.
- 18:15Thank you so much for tuning into this Revolution of Purpose podcast.
- 18:19I hope that you'll take these 3 questions seriously,
- 18:23and until next time, keep living your own personal
- 18:27Revolution of Purpose. Thank you so much for spending this time with me today.
