- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Mark Simone Show on seven ten woor filling
- 0:05Speaker 1: in for Mark, here's Ken Rosato.
- 0:08Speaker 2: As it is this Memorial Day, Mark is off enjoying
- 0:11Speaker 2: a well deserved long weekend, and I hope that you
- 0:13Speaker 2: are spending time with family and friends, enjoying the freedoms
- 0:16Speaker 2: that so many fought and died for. And that is
- 0:20Speaker 2: why our vets who lost their lives defended this country
- 0:24Speaker 2: so we all wouldn't have to worry about being attacked.
- 0:27Speaker 2: As a friend of mine who was a coastguardsman would
- 0:29Speaker 2: always say, don't worry about a thing. We got this.
- 0:33Speaker 2: But while it's a blessing to be able to enjoy
- 0:35Speaker 2: the day, relaxing, maybe having a hot dog, you tell
- 0:38Speaker 2: stories with people we care about, we do need to
- 0:41Speaker 2: take some time to honor the great people who died
- 0:44Speaker 2: for us, whether in active duty or in training, or
- 0:48Speaker 2: even people who were at the burn pits and they
- 0:50Speaker 2: came back and they suffered cancer and died after the fact.
- 0:52Speaker 2: The fact is they sacrificed their lives.
- 0:55Speaker 3: They went in.
- 0:56Speaker 2: They didn't they didn't want to die, but they went
- 0:58Speaker 2: in knowing that that was very possible, a thing that
- 1:02Speaker 2: could happen, that they could lose their lives joining the military,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and this is still an all voluntary military and these
- 1:09Speaker 2: people ended up dying. That's why we have this day
- 1:12Speaker 2: for them. They need to be revered. So whether you
- 1:15Speaker 2: take a moment of silence, you say a prayer, you
- 1:17Speaker 2: make a toast, please just take a moment, at the
- 1:20Speaker 2: very least a moment and dedicate the joy that you
- 1:24Speaker 2: experience on this day with your family and friends to
- 1:27Speaker 2: the honorable people who died to make it possible. And
- 1:30Speaker 2: may they all rest in peace. And may we eventually
- 1:32Speaker 2: arrive at a time when we no longer have war
- 1:35Speaker 2: and nobody dies in conflict. Former New York City TV
- 1:39Speaker 2: news actor Can Rozatto in for Mark Today. I spent
- 1:42Speaker 2: twenty years anchoring the morning and also the noon newscast
- 1:45Speaker 2: at Channel seven here in New York. I also used
- 1:48Speaker 2: to host Good Day new York on Channel five. Before that,
- 1:50Speaker 2: I was on the radio about a half a dozen
- 1:52Speaker 2: radio stations all around the Tri state.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Area for years.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Way before that, Gosh, I used like fifty different radio names. Hey,
- 2:00Speaker 2: you're listening to those stakes of wax. I did that,
- 2:02Speaker 2: yeah back in the day. Nowadays, you'd catch me out
- 2:05Speaker 2: in New Jersey streaming TV channel. It's called on New
- 2:07Speaker 2: Jersey o NNJ dot com o NNJ dot com. You
- 2:12Speaker 2: can see that anywhere in the US if you get
- 2:13Speaker 2: a chance.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Check it out.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Please when you when you uh, after you've listened to
- 2:17Speaker 2: WO or please for at least fifty hours straight, then.
- 2:20Speaker 3: You're allowed to go check that out for a minute.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I promise.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Well, we got so much to talk about today. It
- 2:25Speaker 2: may be a holiday, but there is a lot of
- 2:27Speaker 2: news happening. The phone lines are open. Please give us
- 2:30Speaker 2: a call one eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 2:34Speaker 2: One eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. So
- 2:38Speaker 2: if you're like some of my friends, in fact, I'm
- 2:39Speaker 2: gonna mention him by name. My friend Earl in Putnam County,
- 2:42Speaker 2: former cop, greatest guy in the world, Earl Diehard Conservative,
- 2:47Speaker 2: getting really pissed off at the president right now, saying
- 2:50Speaker 2: what is going on? Ken? All of my friends are
- 2:52Speaker 2: giving up on him. Whever I say, Earl, take a breath.
- 2:55Speaker 2: We literally text sometimes two in the mornings.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I take a breath.
- 2:59Speaker 2: So the question is, and I know a lot of
- 3:00Speaker 2: people are asking, what is the deal? Are we close
- 3:03Speaker 2: to solving things in Iran?
- 3:05Speaker 3: Well?
- 3:06Speaker 2: President Trump vowed again yesterday that Iran would never have
- 3:10Speaker 2: a nuclear weapon, and that is the most important thing
- 3:12Speaker 2: in his book. That after some Republican senators were a
- 3:15Speaker 2: little nervous about the details of this peace plant currently
- 3:19Speaker 2: being negotiated.
- 3:21Speaker 4: Right now, when negotiating and we'll see, but we're going
- 3:25Speaker 4: to get it one way or the other.
- 3:26Speaker 3: They're not going to have a nuclear lep Well.
- 3:28Speaker 2: On Saturday, Trump said his negotiators were finalizing an agreement,
- 3:32Speaker 2: but then yesterday he kind of pulled back a little
- 3:34Speaker 2: bit and said he'd post or he posted rather that
- 3:36Speaker 2: he would wait until the right agreement could be struck,
- 3:41Speaker 2: and he said that he told his representatives not to
- 3:43Speaker 2: rush into a deal and that time is on our side.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Once a deal is struck, world oil prices should drop
- 3:51Speaker 2: fairly quickly. I know they're telling you right now, Oh,
- 3:53Speaker 2: it could take months or years. That's not going to
- 3:56Speaker 2: take months years. It's not going to come down as
- 3:58Speaker 2: quickly as it went up. Of course the speculators all
- 4:01Speaker 2: made their money. But it will come down, and it
- 4:03Speaker 2: will come down quicker than they're saying. It just won't
- 4:06Speaker 2: be overnight. It may take a couple of months, but
- 4:09Speaker 2: you'll see how quickly and steadily it comes down. And
- 4:11Speaker 2: if you're like me, I think you understand that as
- 4:14Speaker 2: long as the American public sees the oil prices or
- 4:18Speaker 2: gas prices in the correct direction, even if it's only
- 4:21Speaker 2: dropping in nickel a week, that gets the point across.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It doesn't have to drop by a dollar next week.
- 4:26Speaker 2: But as the prices come down, that will help because
- 4:29Speaker 2: worldwide supply would increase with all the oil that's currently
- 4:32Speaker 2: stuck in the Strait of Horror Moves, it'll be heading
- 4:34Speaker 2: out to the countries that need it.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Well, we want it.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Open, we want it free.
- 4:38Speaker 5: We don't want tolls.
- 4:40Speaker 4: It's international, it's an international waterway and not charging tolls.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That was Trump on the Straight of Horror Moves. Reopening
- 4:47Speaker 2: that should happen sooner rather than later. In Iran would
- 4:50Speaker 2: have to agree to allow safe passage of all vessels
- 4:53Speaker 2: through the strait, no matter what country. Also, Iran would
- 4:57Speaker 2: hand over its nuclear dust and would promise not to
- 5:00Speaker 2: sue the development of a nuclear weapon. We get the
- 5:02Speaker 2: highly enriched we will get it. We don't need it,
- 5:06Speaker 2: we don't want it.
- 5:07Speaker 4: We'll probably destroy it after we get it, but we're
- 5:09Speaker 4: not going to let them have it.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the key. And right now we're getting different
- 5:13Speaker 2: words again from different factions in Iran. Iran is saying
- 5:17Speaker 2: that we are close to a deal. They have acknowledged that,
- 5:20Speaker 2: but they said that they still have not worked out
- 5:23Speaker 2: the details on the nuclear aspect of it. But President
- 5:27Speaker 2: Trump is saying, oh, that is the whole plan, that
- 5:29Speaker 2: is ninety percent of it. So don't buy what they're saying,
- 5:32Speaker 2: because they're not going to get away with this, with
- 5:35Speaker 2: having anything related to anything nuclear. They will have to
- 5:38Speaker 2: make an agreement that they will abolish any nuclear plans
- 5:42Speaker 2: and we will get their nuclear dust. And if down
- 5:45Speaker 2: the line they try to do their nefarious deed again.
- 5:47Speaker 3: They're going to have to start from scratch.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And by the way, for those who don't realize, you think, well, ken,
- 5:52Speaker 2: they're going to do their nuclear plan no matter what,
- 5:54Speaker 2: we won't know. Yeah, we will know. Do you know
- 5:56Speaker 2: that from satellites we can detect anywhere there is even
- 6:02Speaker 2: tiny amounts of nuclear capability in terms of uranium stores
- 6:06Speaker 2: and things like that, we can detect it from the sky.
- 6:09Speaker 2: So if Iran tries to play the game, we'll know
- 6:11Speaker 2: it before anyone knows it except for the people actually
- 6:15Speaker 2: storing it or creating it. We will know it, so
- 6:17Speaker 2: believe me. We don't even have to send inspectors in
- 6:20Speaker 2: on the ground. We can detect it from the air.
- 6:22Speaker 2: And if we sniff out a little bit of uranium,
- 6:25Speaker 2: I think Iran will be in heap bigger trouble.
- 6:28Speaker 3: So just watch out for that.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Seven to ten wo R the Voice of New York
- 6:32Speaker 2: Ken Risotto in for Mark on Memorial Day, and of
- 6:35Speaker 2: course again some Iranian officials of poopoo this whole plan.
- 6:38Speaker 2: The problem is that you still do have and Marcus
- 6:41Speaker 2: talked about.
- 6:42Speaker 3: This on the show.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Different factions in Iran, all controlling different segments. Some control
- 6:48Speaker 2: the military equipment, some people are the religious folks, and
- 6:52Speaker 2: everybody is trying to take control. They haven't even really
- 6:56Speaker 2: consolidated control in their own country, let alone who was
- 7:01Speaker 2: in charge to talk on behalf of Iran with the
- 7:03Speaker 2: United States. But Trump will only have so much patience
- 7:07Speaker 2: and either somebody steps up to the plate and has
- 7:09Speaker 2: total say, or that country is going to be flattened,
- 7:13Speaker 2: as simple as that. Hate to say it, because there
- 7:15Speaker 2: are good human beings there, but then you got to
- 7:18Speaker 2: do something to step up and overthrow your government because
- 7:21Speaker 2: the people in charge there right now are useless. Seven
- 7:24Speaker 2: ten WR the Voice of New York eighties, thirteen minutes
- 7:27Speaker 2: after ten o'clock on Memorial Day Monday, and police in
- 7:30Speaker 2: DC if you heard this over the weekend, they shot
- 7:32Speaker 2: and killed a gunman near the White House. After the
- 7:35Speaker 2: twenty one year old pulled out a revolver. Who carries
- 7:38Speaker 2: a revolver anymore? He had a revolver. He fired at
- 7:41Speaker 2: a Secret Service checkpoint. The problem was that nearby inside
- 7:46Speaker 2: the White House at the time, the President was there,
- 7:48Speaker 2: so of course that puts everybody on alert. They had
- 7:51Speaker 2: to have lockdown at the White House. The shooting happened
- 7:53Speaker 2: just after six pm on Saturday, and a man approached
- 7:57Speaker 2: the Secret Service checkpoint that was at seventeenth Street and
- 8:00Speaker 2: Pennsylvania Avenue northwest. He pulled a gun from his bag.
- 8:04Speaker 2: He started to shoot at officers. The problem is when
- 8:07Speaker 2: you shoot at armed people, you better be accurate. Fortunately
- 8:10Speaker 2: he was not so all the Secret Service fired back
- 8:14Speaker 2: and killed him. He has identified as twenty one year
- 8:17Speaker 2: old and are best. He's from Dundock, Maryland, and they
- 8:21Speaker 2: know him because he tried to break in a year ago.
- 8:23Speaker 2: He tried to get through one of their checkpoints. They
- 8:26Speaker 2: say he seemed to be mentally unstable because a year
- 8:28Speaker 2: ago he claimed to be Jesus Christ, he claimed to
- 8:30Speaker 2: be God the Father, he claimed to be demons. He
- 8:34Speaker 2: added all different claims. The question is somebody like that
- 8:38Speaker 2: has to know people, family, friends, back home, and how
- 8:41Speaker 2: does everyone say, oh, yeah, in this series, he's you know,
- 8:43Speaker 2: he's just a funny guy. Really, how do you let
- 8:46Speaker 2: somebody like that around? And where did he get the gun?
- 8:49Speaker 2: And I'm sure that'll be investigated. But if somebody is
- 8:51Speaker 2: that mentally unstable, what's he doing with a gun? Because
- 8:54Speaker 2: you do have to pass a test, you know, you
- 8:56Speaker 2: do have to fill up paperwork, and if you've been
- 8:59Speaker 2: found to be met lane stable, you cannot get a
- 9:01Speaker 2: carry permit. We don't even know if if you had
- 9:04Speaker 2: the gun legally or not, but I'm sure that'll come
- 9:05Speaker 2: out in the investigation. A good samaritan This is great news.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Get this. A good Samaritan found a fanny pack in
- 9:13Speaker 2: Florida stuffed with thirty thousand dollars in cash that was
- 9:19Speaker 2: forgotten accidentally inside the bathroom of a wah wah. For
- 9:24Speaker 2: those not from New Jersey, you probably see what the
- 9:27Speaker 2: heck is a wah wah. It sounds like something, sounds
- 9:29Speaker 2: like you want a glass of something to drink. Wah
- 9:32Speaker 2: wah is a fantastic kind of quickie mark kind of
- 9:36Speaker 2: a place. And they started in the you know, the
- 9:38Speaker 2: South Jersey Philadelphia area, and they've now spread all over
- 9:41Speaker 2: the country. Anyway, instead of pocketing the money, this guy
- 9:46Speaker 2: spent days tracking down.
- 9:47Speaker 3: The owner of the money.
- 9:49Speaker 2: What would you do if you found thirty thousand dollars cash,
- 9:54Speaker 2: there was no id, no name, What would you do?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Be honest?
- 9:59Speaker 2: You know, I would imediately assumed that there was a
- 10:01Speaker 2: camera trained down me, and they want to see if
- 10:02Speaker 2: I'll do the right thing. So me, I don't care
- 10:04Speaker 2: how broke I was, I would probably do the same thing.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'd call the police, try to at least make an
- 10:09Speaker 2: attempt to find the owner. Well, this guy, Luis Salasar,
- 10:13Speaker 2: is a construction worker. He didn't know what to do.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I could have used the money himself, but he decided
- 10:18Speaker 2: now that would not be the moral thing. This was
- 10:20Speaker 2: back on May third in Palm Beach County, Florida. So
- 10:25Speaker 2: it was in a black fanny pack. Imagine that full
- 10:28Speaker 2: of singles, twenties and one hundred dollars bills. So what
- 10:33Speaker 2: happened was he decided to spend a week finding the
- 10:37Speaker 2: guy or woman who lost this fanny pack out. He's
- 10:41Speaker 2: assuming it was a guy. It was in a men's room,
- 10:43Speaker 2: so he had no evidence. He didn't know where he
- 10:46Speaker 2: could start looking. He had no id. The twenty four
- 10:49Speaker 2: year old owner of that fanny pack, though, didn't realize
- 10:52Speaker 2: he had misplaced the money until he was about fifty
- 10:55Speaker 2: miles away and he almost had a heart attack. What
- 10:57Speaker 2: it happened was the owner of the bag, everyone right
- 11:01Speaker 2: away thinks so it was probably drug bunny. No, it wasn't.
- 11:04Speaker 2: The owner of the bag is only in his early twenties.
- 11:06Speaker 2: His sister had a medical emergency needed a medical procedure.
- 11:11Speaker 2: The guy had a Pokemon collection he had saved since
- 11:13Speaker 2: he was a kid.
- 11:15Speaker 3: He sold it.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I don't know if it was like an online deal,
- 11:18Speaker 2: but he met a guy and he sold it, and
- 11:19Speaker 2: that's why he had that much cash. It had to
- 11:21Speaker 2: be sold and I had to be sold in cash.
- 11:24Speaker 2: So he ended up getting thirty twenty three dollars in
- 11:27Speaker 2: cash for all the Pokemon stuff, and he stopped by
- 11:31Speaker 2: the bathroom he stopped to get something to drink at
- 11:33Speaker 2: the wah wah, and he laid down the bag and
- 11:35Speaker 2: forgot it. And thankfully, if anyone were to find it,
- 11:39Speaker 2: this man Salazar, mister Salazar found it and was a
- 11:43Speaker 2: good construction worker, hard working man, and was able to
- 11:47Speaker 2: track down through the police. Because he contacted police. He
- 11:51Speaker 2: was able to track down the owner, he says, when
- 11:53Speaker 2: he presented the money back and the owner knew how
- 11:55Speaker 2: much money was in it. That's how we knew it
- 11:56Speaker 2: was the right guy. He was able to say exactly
- 11:59Speaker 2: how much was in there. He broke down in tears
- 12:02Speaker 2: and hugged and gave a kiss to the man. But
- 12:04Speaker 2: there are good people on this planet, very good people.
- 12:07Speaker 2: And mister Salazar's like I said, he's a hard working
- 12:09Speaker 2: construction man. But he said, I'd prefer to work for
- 12:12Speaker 2: my money, and I knew this wasn't my money. Good man.
- 12:15Speaker 2: God bless you, mister Salisar, and I hope you come
- 12:17Speaker 2: into millions on your own because of the honesty, that
- 12:21Speaker 2: little bit honesty, quite a bit of honesty that you showed.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I hope you are rewarded manyfold as a result. Seven
- 12:27Speaker 2: ten wr The Voice of New York. Now we had
- 12:30Speaker 2: a nice story and we shift to a gross story.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I don't know if you heard about this.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Have you heard about the so called preppy Princeton killer.
- 12:39Speaker 2: So this is a guy who was behind bars. He
- 12:43Speaker 2: was being held in jail. He wasn't convicted yet, but
- 12:46Speaker 2: apparently there is video allegedly showing him stabbing his own
- 12:52Speaker 2: brother to death and beating him with golf clubs till
- 12:55Speaker 2: he was dead. And on video it shows that he
- 13:00Speaker 2: ripped out Sorry, folks, put down your food for a second.
- 13:04Speaker 2: He ripped out his brother's eye and consumed it. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 2: he was later found dead in his jail cell. But
- 13:14Speaker 2: as it turns out, it looks like the good liberals
- 13:16Speaker 2: of New Jersey were probably not going to prosecute him
- 13:19Speaker 2: because they believed that he was mentally unstable. Now you said, well,
- 13:22Speaker 2: of course, someone who would do that is mentally unstable.
- 13:24Speaker 2: But again, he wasn't metally unstable. Apparently the day before
- 13:27Speaker 2: he did that to his brother, right, So what point
- 13:29Speaker 2: did he become metally unstable? And at some point we
- 13:31Speaker 2: have to address the problem of metal instability because it's
- 13:34Speaker 2: it's really you know, you could use that as an
- 13:36Speaker 2: excuse for anything, but yes, it's pretty gross, and yes
- 13:39Speaker 2: it really did happen, and of course it happened in
- 13:41Speaker 2: New Jersey. And I got to leave you with this.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I thought, before we go to break, have you heard
- 13:45Speaker 2: about the you visa scam? Check this out. If you
- 13:49Speaker 2: are here illegally, you can't get a visa to stay,
- 13:52Speaker 2: or can you? There is something called a you visa,
- 13:56Speaker 2: like the letter you visa. It's meant for crime victims.
- 14:00Speaker 2: So if you're an illegal alien you get robbed or assaulted,
- 14:03Speaker 2: and there's proof, like there's a surveillance camera showing that
- 14:06Speaker 2: you were beaten, you were robbed, et cetera. It is
- 14:08Speaker 2: partially out of the goodness of our hearts, because you
- 14:11Speaker 2: were the victim of a crime in our country. And
- 14:14Speaker 2: it's also so police can use you to rite out
- 14:18Speaker 2: the person who did the crime, so they can go
- 14:20Speaker 2: after the criminal, so they keep you here as a
- 14:22Speaker 2: witness in essence. So it's called the U Visa program. Well,
- 14:25Speaker 2: under the Biden administration, of course, the illegals got wise
- 14:28Speaker 2: to it. It was passed among them. At about fifty
- 14:31Speaker 2: thousand U visas were issued under the Biden administration to people.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And once they get that U visa they could stay.
- 14:38Speaker 2: They're here, it's like you're a legal resident at that point.
- 14:42Speaker 2: So there are literally fifty thousand people walking around, and
- 14:46Speaker 2: then of course they send for their families, and then
- 14:48Speaker 2: before you know it, you have five hundred thousand people here.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Now it turns out we find out many of the
- 14:54Speaker 2: assaults were staged. They were staged. There are whole criminal
- 15:00Speaker 2: syndicates who offer their services on camera wearing masks to
- 15:05Speaker 2: pretend to beat you up and rob you. So they
- 15:08Speaker 2: made deals with bodega owners all over the country. They
- 15:11Speaker 2: made deals with people on the street through immigration centers,
- 15:14Speaker 2: et cetera. Said you give us, you know, a thousand bucks,
- 15:17Speaker 2: show up at this bodega at two am at whatever,
- 15:19Speaker 2: and we'll pretend to beat you up. We'll go light
- 15:21Speaker 2: on you so you're not going to have any broken
- 15:23Speaker 2: bones or permanent damage. And then you show the video
- 15:26Speaker 2: to the immigration they'll give you a U visa you
- 15:28Speaker 2: could stay. And so fifty thousand people have done it
- 15:33Speaker 2: so far. Well, now since Trump took office, that number
- 15:36Speaker 2: has been cut way down. Very few have been able
- 15:40Speaker 2: to apply. And by the way, about fifty people have
- 15:42Speaker 2: been thrown in jail because they were outed, they were
- 15:44Speaker 2: caught doing this crime. But guess how many people have
- 15:48Speaker 2: now applied for a you visa since Trump took office
- 15:51Speaker 2: because they know that it's going to be difficult if
- 15:53Speaker 2: they're here illegally to get citizenship. Four hundred thousand people
- 15:59Speaker 2: have applied. So suddenly everybody is assaulting illegal aliens all
- 16:03Speaker 2: over the country. Four hundred thousand. It went from a
- 16:06Speaker 2: few thousand to four hundred thousand. Like, we all know
- 16:08Speaker 2: who the people here are illegally, and we're all going
- 16:11Speaker 2: to assault them. It's just amazing. If there is a
- 16:14Speaker 2: scam to be had, somebody will have the scam. Eight
- 16:18Speaker 2: hundred three to two one zero seven ten eight hundred
- 16:21Speaker 2: three to two one zero seven ten and seven ten.
- 16:24Speaker 2: War is the voice of New York. Mark is off today.
- 16:26Speaker 2: This is Ken Rosatta. We'll take those calls next, so
- 16:29Speaker 2: definitely call up up.
- 16:30Speaker 1: In ten War filling in for Mark here again is
- 16:34Speaker 1: Ken Rosatto.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Nice to be with you on this day, Memorial Day.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Once again, remember all those people who have died as
- 16:41Speaker 2: a result of being part of our military to defend us,
- 16:43Speaker 2: protect us. This is a day that we remember them.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So as much as it's nice to spend time with
- 16:49Speaker 2: family and friends, enjoying your day off. Have that hot dog,
- 16:52Speaker 2: have that hamburger, because they did sacrifice so that you
- 16:55Speaker 2: could have the freedom. But don't forget that we should
- 16:57Speaker 2: always take that moment to say thank you and remember
- 17:00Speaker 2: them on the special day. Eight hundred three two one
- 17:03Speaker 2: zero seven ten eight hundred three two one zero seven
- 17:07Speaker 2: ten for seven ten w O R again, Ken Rosatto
- 17:10Speaker 2: in thank you to Mark Simon for letting me sit
- 17:12Speaker 2: in today, and to our friend Tom Cuddy, the program
- 17:15Speaker 2: director here at WR Radio. It's always an honor to
- 17:19Speaker 2: walk in the building. I still get goosebumps. I'm fifty
- 17:21Speaker 2: nine years old. I've been listening to the many of
- 17:24Speaker 2: the call letters that are housed in these buildings since
- 17:27Speaker 2: I was a kid, and so to walk in these
- 17:29Speaker 2: hallowed halls and see some of the personalities that I
- 17:32Speaker 2: listened to, especially the great Mark Simone, please get I
- 17:36Speaker 2: get goosebump sitting in the chair. So I promise, Mark,
- 17:39Speaker 2: I'll leave the studio neat. I'll clean up all my
- 17:41Speaker 2: all my little leg goodies here on your desk. I promise,
- 17:44Speaker 2: all right. Seven Ted Wi the Voice of New York Again.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten eight hundred
- 17:51Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. May have heard about
- 17:55Speaker 2: the hantavirus. Yeah, everybody's talking about hantavirus, any bola, hand
- 17:59Speaker 2: to virus, any bowl And I heard it over the
- 18:03Speaker 2: weekend a lot of a lot of newscasts, and having
- 18:05Speaker 2: been a news anchor for the majority of my career,
- 18:07Speaker 2: and look, we can't not report a story like that.
- 18:12Speaker 2: You have to do it, but you have to do
- 18:15Speaker 2: it not in headline terroristic fashion. You have to tell
- 18:20Speaker 2: the whole story. Is hantavirus on the rise right now
- 18:23Speaker 2: throughout the country. Yes, here's the part they don't tell
- 18:27Speaker 2: you before you get nervous. Hantavirus cases rise every year
- 18:34Speaker 2: at this time of the year. Do you know why, Well,
- 18:37Speaker 2: let me give you a hint how as to how
- 18:39Speaker 2: hantavirus gets spread, And then you could probably put two
- 18:42Speaker 2: and two together. The only way to spread handavirus is well,
- 18:46Speaker 2: with one exception actually the very rare type, but ninety
- 18:49Speaker 2: nine percent of the time, the way to spread handed
- 18:51Speaker 2: virus is with contact with rat droppings and rat urine,
- 18:56Speaker 2: rat feces, et cetera. So this is springtime, right, this
- 19:00Speaker 2: is when we clean up the garage, we clean out
- 19:02Speaker 2: the attic well. During the cold winter, the rats were
- 19:06Speaker 2: nesting and they gave birth to little baby rats and mice.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Right now, so all the built up feces and urine
- 19:13Speaker 2: that's dry. Okay, you go to clean out your garage.
- 19:16Speaker 2: In the corner, you move a box, you say, what
- 19:17Speaker 2: is that? You sweep it up, and all of a sudden,
- 19:19Speaker 2: dust goes in the air that could be dried urine,
- 19:23Speaker 2: dried feces from rats. That's how you can catch it
- 19:27Speaker 2: if the rat was infected with hantavirus. Now it became
- 19:31Speaker 2: a news item because in the last month or so,
- 19:34Speaker 2: we had a ship that had a bunch of passengers
- 19:37Speaker 2: and apparently there were rats on the ship and they
- 19:40Speaker 2: got the virus from the rats on the ship. But
- 19:42Speaker 2: normally you do not have to panic about that. And yes,
- 19:47Speaker 2: cases are on the rise, but the chances of you
- 19:49Speaker 2: catching it are slim. And it's not because we're gonna
- 19:52Speaker 2: all get attacked by the handa virus. So I just
- 19:54Speaker 2: want people to catch their breath and understand, yes, it's
- 19:57Speaker 2: on the rise. Yes you should be careful if you
- 19:59Speaker 2: clean up the garage where gloves, wear a mask, maybe
- 20:02Speaker 2: goggles take a shower after you you clean out the
- 20:05Speaker 2: garage or have a professional do it. Make sure you
- 20:07Speaker 2: disinfect everything. But no, there is no reason to go
- 20:11Speaker 2: into panic mode. It's ten thirty two right now, seven
- 20:14Speaker 2: to ten w R, the Voice of New York. We
- 20:16Speaker 2: go to our busy phones. Gene and Toms River, good morning.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Good on and Ken. Just to let you know that
- 20:24Speaker 6: I am a fan of yours and I wish you
- 20:26Speaker 6: were back on TV or on the radio in New
- 20:30Speaker 6: York area. I live in New Jersey. I met you
- 20:34Speaker 6: twenty five years ago. Ken, you were on very nice
- 20:38Speaker 6: street in Brooklyn. I said to you, you look your
- 20:41Speaker 6: bed looking in person that you are on TV.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Well, I'm so glad my mother sent you that check, Jean,
- 20:47Speaker 2: and that's very nice of you. Jean, what was what
- 20:51Speaker 2: was I do you remember what I was in Brooklyn for?
- 20:53Speaker 2: I follow you there for story you were working.
- 20:55Speaker 6: I don't know what you had your microphone, but you
- 20:57Speaker 6: had it all for the when I spoke to you,
- 21:00Speaker 6: but I don't remember exactly you know what you were
- 21:02Speaker 6: doing there? I was still I had my call being repaired.
- 21:05Speaker 6: That's why I was on thirty ninth stream. Can like
- 21:08Speaker 6: to say something I am a New York Mets fan,
- 21:12Speaker 6: disappointed New York Met fan, but I still miss Kate
- 21:16Speaker 6: Smith singing God Bless America at the end of the
- 21:21Speaker 6: seventh in uh Yankee Stadium. I don't know whatever happened.
- 21:25Speaker 6: I know she must have said something when she was
- 21:28Speaker 6: young to hurt some people. Uh but I growing up
- 21:33Speaker 6: in New York. I'm sure you said and I said
- 21:36Speaker 6: something to hurt somebody in anger that we regret. I
- 21:41Speaker 6: still miss her voice. I don't like Donald Merril whatever,
- 21:47Speaker 6: I forgot his name already, but I just wish they
- 21:50Speaker 6: would put her back on to sing God Bless America.
- 21:54Speaker 2: She was, I mean, she was one of the classic
- 21:56Speaker 2: voices Broadway voice in a Kate Smith and God. I'm Maraga.
- 22:01Speaker 2: All the old tape recordings of her singing that powerful
- 22:04Speaker 2: God Bless America. It seems like we we've gotten away
- 22:07Speaker 2: from that. You notice they don't do a lot of
- 22:08Speaker 2: any anything that mentions God. They try to get away
- 22:11Speaker 2: from whatever. But I'm within. Yes, my family are all
- 22:14Speaker 2: Mets fans too, so we're suffering the pain right now
- 22:17Speaker 2: as well. Maybe it is a mayor's curse. You believe
- 22:20Speaker 2: it's a mayor's curse cause on.
- 22:21Speaker 6: This I think so.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Well.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Gee, I thank you so much for calling. Let's remember
- 22:28Speaker 2: the people who sacrifice their lives for us on this
- 22:31Speaker 2: Memorial Day, and hopefully you have some time with family
- 22:34Speaker 2: and we appreciate the calleging. Thank you so much for
- 22:36Speaker 2: calling in.
- 22:37Speaker 1: This is the Mark Simone Show on seven ten wi
- 22:41Speaker 1: kin from Mark today. Here's Ken Rosatto.
- 22:45Speaker 2: And a very good Monday to you. Seven ten wore
- 22:48Speaker 2: you are listening to the Mark Simone Show on Memorial Day,
- 22:51Speaker 2: Monday morning, the day we honor our fallen military heroes.
- 22:55Speaker 2: To be in for Mark today and Mark will be
- 22:57Speaker 2: back in the seat tomorrow. So I'm promised to dust
- 22:59Speaker 2: everything Mark. I use the disinfectant wipes and everything big
- 23:02Speaker 2: of me. Right. Well, on these days off, people do
- 23:06Speaker 2: look for things to do. Showbiz four to one one's
- 23:08Speaker 2: Roger Friedman knows more about entertainment than just about anybody else.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Good morning to you, Roger.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Good morning. I don't know about that, but we'll see.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Well, listen, I do know one thing because I actually
- 23:20Speaker 2: read Showbiz four one one. So the Devil Wars brought
- 23:23Speaker 2: it too? Is en fuego surpassing what six hundred plus
- 23:27Speaker 2: million dollars.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Yeah, it's been a huge hit. I mean, nobody expected this,
- 23:33Speaker 5: but people really it's sort of like a redux of
- 23:37Speaker 5: the first movie from twenty years ago, and people loved
- 23:40Speaker 5: those characters and the fact that they're all still around
- 23:43Speaker 5: and that they look great, and it's a witty script.
- 23:47Speaker 5: It's not really much different from the first movie, but
- 23:50Speaker 5: there's a couple of a couple of new things and
- 23:55Speaker 5: the audience seems to just eat it up with a spoon,
- 23:57Speaker 5: so good for them. It can't hurt. So it's like
- 24:00Speaker 5: a great dessert, you know.
- 24:02Speaker 2: But it's what the good thing is. You have a
- 24:03Speaker 2: whole generation of people who were babies when that came
- 24:06Speaker 2: out who just want to see this and are in
- 24:08Speaker 2: love with all these people all over again, thinking wow,
- 24:11Speaker 2: Meryl Streep, who's that you know? And what great actresses
- 24:15Speaker 2: and actors these people are, and to see the fabulous
- 24:18Speaker 2: fashion and everything else. So this was a big deal.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I think I know people who've gone back several times
- 24:23Speaker 2: status see it.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Well, it's good for Anne Hathaway because I think that
- 24:28Speaker 5: she has an oscar, but she's been waiting for something
- 24:31Speaker 5: big to come along again and this is nice. Yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 5: So she's she surely deserves the success. And Meryl Streep
- 24:37Speaker 5: is always terrific, and Emily Blunt is fun and Stanley
- 24:40Speaker 5: Tucci so so it's all good. But I think the
- 24:44Speaker 5: big movie of the weekend and the movie you could
- 24:47Speaker 5: see today with this bad weather is The Mandalorian and Grogu,
- 24:50Speaker 5: which I loved a new Star Wars movie, and.
- 24:53Speaker 2: That made like one hundred it's like one hundred and
- 24:55Speaker 2: seventy mils so far, something like that, one hundred and
- 24:57Speaker 2: eighty mil.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Well, well, yeah, worldwide. Yeah, it's a it's a big hit.
- 25:01Speaker 5: And as you watch the Mandalorian TV series, which I
- 25:05Speaker 5: didn't originally. Now I've gone back and looked at it,
- 25:07Speaker 5: but I wasn't following this when it was happening. In
- 25:11Speaker 5: the Mandalorian TV series is three seasons and it leads
- 25:14Speaker 5: up to this movie. And now, of course they'll probably
- 25:17Speaker 5: be two more movies. But it's it's totally charming. It's
- 25:23Speaker 5: just great, and it's a real escape from our reality,
- 25:27Speaker 5: which is pretty dire. So it's nice to get away
- 25:31Speaker 5: from everything and go visit with the Star Wars people.
- 25:36Speaker 5: And of course the mandal the Grogu, you know, is
- 25:39Speaker 5: like a little Yoda. They don't say Yoda, but that's
- 25:41Speaker 5: he's apparently the baby Yoda or something like that. And
- 25:45Speaker 5: the Mandalorian is Pedro Pascal, who's sort of like an
- 25:48Speaker 5: early Han Solo kind of character.
- 25:50Speaker 2: And even the word Grogu doesn't that sound like a
- 25:52Speaker 2: cute little baby named.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Yes, he does.
- 25:56Speaker 5: He's not a baby though. He's very smart. I give
- 25:59Speaker 5: him a lot of credit. He could get Best Supporting Actor. Wow.
- 26:04Speaker 5: So he's it's very good the Mandalorian. And of course
- 26:07Speaker 5: the Michael Jackson movie is booming, just passed three hundred
- 26:12Speaker 5: million dollars on this way to four hundred and I
- 26:15Speaker 5: just looked on iTunes on Amazon and Michael Jackson's Thriller is.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Number one, uh huh, no shot.
- 26:23Speaker 5: And he has four other albums in the top ten
- 26:27Speaker 5: and a bunch more through the top one hundred. And
- 26:29Speaker 5: this is amazing. These out these songs are more than
- 26:33Speaker 5: forty years old, but.
- 26:34Speaker 2: They're timeless songs. These were the reason why they have
- 26:37Speaker 2: such massive hits in the day is that they're timeless.
- 26:40Speaker 2: And you have younger people now listening to it who
- 26:42Speaker 2: never would have given it a listen because we're in
- 26:44Speaker 2: an error. Remember when we were kids, we would listen
- 26:47Speaker 2: to the radio and you could hear a top forty station.
- 26:49Speaker 2: You would be exposed to different music. Today they're not.
- 26:51Speaker 2: They listened to their They download their one MP three
- 26:54Speaker 2: that their friend heard on YouTube, and that's why they
- 26:56Speaker 2: they're exposed to music. I on the show I Do
- 26:59Speaker 2: in New Jersey, see what I guess. Last week we
- 27:02Speaker 2: had the kid who played Tito in Michael in the
- 27:05Speaker 2: film and I asked him, I said, you know, were
- 27:08Speaker 2: you raised as a Michael Jackson fan? And he said, well,
- 27:11Speaker 2: my parents only like seventeen. He said, my parents were listened,
- 27:14Speaker 2: you know, years ago, and I kind of thought it
- 27:16Speaker 2: was great music, of course, but then I had to
- 27:18Speaker 2: become Tito, so I had to learn everything. But it
- 27:21Speaker 2: was fascinating to hear how he developed the character. But
- 27:24Speaker 2: it is timeless music.
- 27:26Speaker 5: Well, this is what's going to happen. Not next year,
- 27:29Speaker 5: but in April twenty twenty eight, there's going to be
- 27:32Speaker 5: the Four Beatles movies and that'll be something. Now. Paul
- 27:36Speaker 5: McCartney has a new album coming out on Friday. I
- 27:41Speaker 5: don't know if you know about this. It's called The
- 27:43Speaker 5: Boys of Dungeon Lane and they want me to call
- 27:46Speaker 5: it a masterpiece. It's hard for me to call it
- 27:48Speaker 5: a masterpiece because of Sergeant Pepper, Aby Road, the White Album,
- 27:52Speaker 5: Hate jud and all that. But you know what, it's
- 27:55Speaker 5: paulm It's a fabulous album and it's probably his best
- 27:58Speaker 5: album since two thousand and seven of them since a
- 28:01Speaker 5: record called Flaming Pie. It's just a beautiful, beautiful record
- 28:05Speaker 5: with lots of potentials and very complex compositions and arrangements
- 28:13Speaker 5: and beauty, and it's very well sung. I know he's
- 28:15Speaker 5: sounded sort of rough on TV, but it sounds great
- 28:18Speaker 5: on the records.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Old he could sound. He's he could stand there and
- 28:24Speaker 2: just be Paul McCartney and I would watch well.
- 28:27Speaker 5: But he hasn't just stood there, which is the interesting thing,
- 28:30Speaker 5: because that's what I say in this review. I just
- 28:31Speaker 5: put up on Showbiz four on one. He could just
- 28:35Speaker 5: you know, do something, put it out and say that's it.
- 28:40Speaker 5: But he's really done. These are fourteen songs. There isn't
- 28:43Speaker 5: a dud in the bunch. They are all terrific, and
- 28:47Speaker 5: it's really kind of shocking that this stuff is still
- 28:50Speaker 5: pouring out of his head, you know. He said to
- 28:53Speaker 5: Stephen Colbert a couple of years ago he was on
- 28:55Speaker 5: Colbert and Colbert SAIDs from, I know everyone asks you this,
- 28:59Speaker 5: but how do you writing? How did you write these songs?
- 29:02Speaker 5: And he said he starts giving him a lot of
- 29:05Speaker 5: different reasons that Paul looks at him and he says, well,
- 29:07Speaker 5: maybe it's just that I'm a genius and he is,
- 29:10Speaker 5: and you're like, I think that's what it is. He
- 29:13Speaker 5: doesn't even really know how he writes the songs. They
- 29:15Speaker 5: just pour through him. And this new album is just
- 29:20Speaker 5: full of these songs. It's fascinating. And I've listened to
- 29:23Speaker 5: it about ten times already in the last week that
- 29:26Speaker 5: I've had it for review, and it's going to as
- 29:28Speaker 5: soon as the CD comes in, it's going to be
- 29:31Speaker 5: in my car forever.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Absolutely. And we only about a minute. Let but we
- 29:34Speaker 2: can't depart without talking about Billy Joel and how he
- 29:39Speaker 2: wants nothing in terms of a movie made about him.
- 29:42Speaker 2: So is it because of the rights to his music?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Is that what that's about?
- 29:46Speaker 5: No? Now, this guy, there's a guy who is his
- 29:49Speaker 5: manager from nineteen sixty six to nineteen seventy two, when
- 29:53Speaker 5: Billy had a group called the Hassles. This was before
- 29:56Speaker 5: he became a solo artist, and the music's not very good. Uh,
- 30:00Speaker 5: and Billy owns all the music. But this manager and
- 30:04Speaker 5: then the manager, this manager has gone, I know what
- 30:07Speaker 5: he's heard from him again, and now after all these years,
- 30:10Speaker 5: he probably he's probably in his eighties, and he wants
- 30:13Speaker 5: to cash in on knowing Billy Joel. So he commissioned
- 30:16Speaker 5: someone to write a movie about his time with Billy.
- 30:20Speaker 5: But of course Billy owns the rights to his own
- 30:22Speaker 5: life story, and he own hits to his songs. And
- 30:25Speaker 5: this they've told this man several times, you cannot make
- 30:29Speaker 5: this movie, and he announced it anyway, It's not gonna happen.
- 30:33Speaker 5: There's no way it can happen. And it's terrible when
- 30:37Speaker 5: these old managers try to come along, old people who
- 30:40Speaker 5: used to know stars come along and say, well, time
- 30:42Speaker 5: to cash in on the stars. You know, five decade career,
- 30:47Speaker 5: I've done nothing but wait for this. It's terrible, so
- 30:50Speaker 5: kind of cheesy. Well, Billy Joel's not going to happen.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Billy Joel deserves something great because he is an American icon.
- 30:56Speaker 2: There's no question you may or may or may not
- 30:58Speaker 2: like his music, but you can't deny it's brilliant music
- 31:01Speaker 2: and lots of it, and they were all massive hits.
- 31:03Speaker 5: You cannot like his music, of course, I can't. Forget
- 31:06Speaker 5: about it. You can't. Everyone should like everyone. One hundred
- 31:10Speaker 5: and fifty shows at Madison Square Garden. Hey tell us
- 31:13Speaker 5: you're how popular here?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Is always at least one song that you will love
- 31:17Speaker 2: that Billy Joel is right now, there's a lot of
- 31:19Speaker 2: them that I love. I mean, Bottle of Red about
- 31:21Speaker 2: why you know you can? How do you not love that?
- 31:23Speaker 5: That's just it's he's a and he's a great guy,
- 31:26Speaker 5: and he's a New York hero, and you know we
- 31:29Speaker 5: love him, so we don't like people being taken to
- 31:32Speaker 5: That's it.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Hub good right, good man, You're I totally agree with
- 31:36Speaker 2: you and Billy Joel. We are treasured. He is a treasure.
- 31:39Speaker 2: I should say, we are lucky to have you here
- 31:41Speaker 2: in the New York area all these years. Showbiz for
- 31:43Speaker 2: one one's Roger Friedman. We appreciate you coming on on
- 31:45Speaker 2: a holiday. Always great to have you on. Thank you, sure,

- 32:20Speaker 2: You are on the air.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Yes, Ken, yes, yeah, Tell Nicky Shirley to stop warning

- 32:35Speaker 4: our utilities and leave Ice, let them do their job.
- 32:40Speaker 4: And that's the and then that's the deal.
- 32:43Speaker 3: I will you.
- 32:44Speaker 4: And the only way we're going to stop her is
- 32:46Speaker 4: all your Republicans get out and vote in the primary
- 32:50Speaker 4: next Tuesday.
- 32:51Speaker 2: All right, you mean Nicky Cheryl? I was saying. It
- 32:54Speaker 2: took me about five minutes. And who the heck is
- 32:56Speaker 2: Nicky Shirley.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Surly is the guy with the fraud?
- 33:00Speaker 2: Oh that's oh yeah, that's I know. Give me the
- 33:02Speaker 2: kid who went to Minnesota.
- 33:05Speaker 4: And I read in my paper she worried about ice.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Let ice do their job.
- 33:11Speaker 2: You know what it is. She wants to get reelected
- 33:14Speaker 2: so badly, and she could taste it, and that's all
- 33:17Speaker 2: she's playing the game. Mikey Cheryl is so protected and
- 33:21Speaker 2: insulated in New Jersey. Her people, her handlers, will not
- 33:24Speaker 2: let her do any show other than MS now. They
- 33:27Speaker 2: will not let her on. There maybe an occasional CNN.
- 33:30Speaker 2: If it's not friendly media, they won't let her on.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Listen.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I'm a journalist thirty years in the New York area,
- 33:35Speaker 2: forty years overall. Right, I've won seven Emmy Awards. I
- 33:39Speaker 2: want about a half dozen other awards. You would think
- 33:43Speaker 2: if there's anyone she would talk to. And I've always
- 33:45Speaker 2: given politicians a fair shake. I've interviewed probably twenty twenty
- 33:50Speaker 2: five major politicians, including three presidents. I would give Mikey
- 33:54Speaker 2: Cheryl a very fair time. Right, she refuses to let
- 33:59Speaker 2: me sit down and talk to her. She will not
- 34:01Speaker 2: do it. So there you go. You know, I mean, hey,
- 34:03Speaker 2: what do you think I'm gonna do? Bite? But her
- 34:06Speaker 2: press secretary says, have you ever heard of what Risotto
- 34:09Speaker 2: says about Mikey Cheryl? What did I say about Mikey Cheryl?
- 34:12Speaker 2: If she gets called to task, we're going to call
- 34:16Speaker 2: her to task on things. But she is welcome to
- 34:18Speaker 2: refute what I say. She's a big person.
- 34:21Speaker 3: She can do that.
- 34:22Speaker 2: She put on your governor's pants and come and sit
- 34:24Speaker 2: down and talk to us all. We appreciate the phone call.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Thank you very much. The number again, eight hundred three
- 34:28Speaker 2: to two one zero seven ten. Eight hundred three to
- 34:31Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten. You're listening to seven ten
- 34:34Speaker 2: wo R. The voice of New York. Ken Rosotto went
- 34:36Speaker 2: from mark we're back after the news
