- 0:00The Iran peace deal is collapsing in real time,
- 0:02inflation is reaccelerating, and consumer sentiment just hit its
- 0:05lowest level since 1952. And with midterms fast
- 0:08approaching and dollar dominance hanging in the balance, this
- 0:11administration is running out of runway and running out of
- 0:14options. Enter the ARMA Act.
- 0:16Congress just introduced what might be the most desperate and
- 0:18brilliant move in American monetary history, a plan to
- 0:21revalue the nation's gold reserves and use the giant gains
- 0:24to buy a million Bitcoin. And nobody in the market is
- 0:27paying attention as Bitcoin sits in the deepest stretch of apathy
- 0:30it's seen in years. Could this be the Hail Mary move
- 0:33to save the American empire? This is truth block.
- 0:36I'm Hurley. Let's mind truth.
- 0:44Last Wednesday on Bitcoin pizza day, Congressman Nick Begich
- 0:47introduced the American Reserve Modernization Act, or ARMA.
- 0:51This is a bill with 21 Co sponsors, bipartisan support
- 0:55with both Republican and Democrat leads that would make
- 0:58Bitcoin a Tier 1 strategic reserve asset of the United
- 1:01States. It codifies Trump's executive
- 1:03order from last year into permanent law that can't be
- 1:06undone by the next president. Fox Business covered the bill in
- 1:09an exclusive yesterday. The administration is pushing
- 1:13for global crypto dominance in the US.
- 1:16Darren Botello is with us. He's on capital election.
- 1:19In plain English. How are they going to do it,
- 1:21Darren? Hi, good morning, Stewart.
- 1:24So the president is asking the Fed to review allowing crypto
- 1:27and fintech firms to store their money in the central bank.
- 1:30And this comes after Kraken got access to the central bank back
- 1:33in March. So they were the first.
- 1:35Now, other banks want the same kind of access.
- 1:38But in Washington, as you know, an executive order is only as
- 1:41good as the president who's in the White House.
- 1:43The next person that takes over, they could completely change
- 1:45that. That's why in a Fox Business
- 1:47exclusive, Congressman Nick Begich is introducing a bill he
- 1:51says to lock in Trump's plan in a officially establish A
- 1:54strategic Bitcoin reserve. Baggage tells Fox Business that
- 1:57this is basically the new Fort Knox.
- 2:01In order to maintain the sovereignty of the US dollar and
- 2:05the strength of the US dollar, you've got to have a strong
- 2:07reserve policy. That's why central banks around
- 2:11the world for so many years, thousands of years in fact, have
- 2:14held reserves on their balance sheet.
- 2:17We need to recognize that digital assets are the 21st
- 2:21century equivalent of those historical gold reserves.
- 2:25So Baggage wants the government to stockpile 5% of all Bitcoin,
- 2:29which is equivalent to how much of the world's gold the US
- 2:32stores in reserves. And he already found a way to
- 2:34fund it without taxpayers. The Treasury is currently
- 2:37sucking up crypto assets tied to Iran through Operation Economic
- 2:40Fury. Baggage's plan?
- 2:42Seize the Ayatollah's crypto and drop it straight into the US
- 2:45balance sheet. But he warns the GOP cannot
- 2:49afford to drag its feet. Conservatives have a tight 6
- 2:52month window to pass this bill and lock the end of law while
- 2:54Republicans still control both houses of Congress.
- 2:57So of course, as we know, the clock is ticking with the
- 3:00midterms coming up in November. Stewart.
- 3:02Oh yes, never forget the midterms.
- 3:04They're coming close. Darren, thank you.
- 3:06Begich calls it the new Fort Knox, and the Fox report covered
- 3:10the surface. But the real story is the
- 3:12funding mechanism, because it's quietly one of the most clever
- 3:14pieces of financial engineering Washington has produced in
- 3:17decades. the United States government holds 8133 metric
- 3:21tons of gold, more than any other nation on Earth.
- 3:25That gold is currently carried on the federal books at just
- 3:27over $42.00 per oz. That price was set in 1973 and
- 3:31has never been updated, with gold today trading at around
- 3:344500 per oz. That's a 107 X gap between the
- 3:38accounting fiction and reality. The ARMA Act closes that gap.
- 3:42The idea is you revalue the gold certificates to market price and
- 3:46you unlock over a trillion dollars in paper gains.
- 3:48No new money printed, no taxes raised, and not a cent added to
- 3:52the deficit. And then you take those gains
- 3:54and you buy 200,000 Bitcoin a year for five years to 1,000,000
- 3:57coins total, locking in a vault for 20 years with military grade
- 4:01custody standards written directly into the bill.
- 4:03We're talking multi sig air gaps.
- 4:05Quantum resistant. This isn't A wish list, this is
- 4:07legislation. I just love how Eric Yakes
- 4:10framed it on X. Bitcoin is valuable because it's
- 4:13best competitor is a million years old and doesn't work on
- 4:15the Internet, and that ancient competitor is exactly what ARMA
- 4:18is using to fund the transition. Now here's the part that turns
- 4:22us from interesting policy into something much bigger.
- 4:24Because to understand why this bill exists right now, you have
- 4:27to look at what's happening outside our borders.
- 4:29The Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed since
- 4:31February 28th. The petrodollar system, the
- 4:34agreement that oil trades in dollars enforced for 50 years,
- 4:37is under more structural stress than at any point since Nixon.
- 4:40Trump posted on Truth Social this week mandatorily requesting
- 4:43that every country involved in the Iran negotiations
- 4:46immediately signed the Abraham Accords sign or chose bad
- 4:50intention. That was his language, and the
- 4:52peace deal is collapsing in real time.
- 4:54Iran directly rejected Trump's claim that Hormuz would reopen,
- 4:58saying it's far from the truth and that the Strait will remain
- 5:00under Iranian management. Then, two sources close to
- 5:03Trump's negotiation team told the Hormuz letter that Trump is
- 5:06now completely backing away from the deal under pressure from
- 5:09Israel and domestic allies. He posted a picture of a Mark 84
- 5:13bomb with his famous line written on it.
- 5:15Thank you for your attention to this matter.
- 5:17So the picture right now is an administration scrambling to
- 5:19hold together a world order that is visibly slipping.
- 5:22Dollar weaponization on full display for every sovereign
- 5:25government, watching foreign central banks, seeing in real
- 5:27time what dollar dependency looks like when it's tested.
- 5:30And trust once broken, doesn't tend to come back.
- 5:34And when you look at the armabile through this lens, it
- 5:36starts to look like an empire repositioning for what comes
- 5:39after the Petro dollar. And that's exactly why I want to
- 5:42talk to you about the Bitcoin Way.
- 5:43Because understanding what's happening to the monetary system
- 5:46is only half of it. The other half is making sure
- 5:48your Bitcoin is actually yours. The Bitcoin Way will sit with
- 5:51you, walk through your entire custody set up and help you get
- 5:55it right. Whether you're just getting
- 5:56started with self custody or you've been stacking for years
- 5:59and want a second set of eyes. Everything we just laid out, the
- 6:03geopolitical fractures, the gold to Bitcoin bridge, Congress
- 6:06positioning before anyone else. It makes self custody more
- 6:10important, not less. Schedule your free 30 minute
- 6:13consultation at the bitcoinway.com/hurley.
- 6:17OK, so the most significant Bitcoin reserve legislation in
- 6:20history just dropped with bipartisan support, a trillion
- 6:23dollar funding mechanism, and a geopolitical backdrop that makes
- 6:27it strategically urgent and nobody is paying attention.
- 6:30The question is why? James Lavish laid it out this
- 6:33week on the Bitcoin Macro Podcast.
- 6:35Your typical consumer is super frustrated right now because
- 6:39inflation's not 3%. Right.
- 6:42It's a slap in the face. Yeah, Dang.
- 6:45All the the houses are super expensive.
- 6:47So when you talk to young kids, I don't know if you have, you
- 6:50have kids are in their 20s and friends of that.
- 6:53And man, the despair on their faces with trying to get a job
- 6:58with AI coming out and, and, and, and just eating up middle
- 7:03manager and some of the low, you know, the lower entry jobs for
- 7:08data accumulation, that stuff and, and, and simple analysis.
- 7:12But you know, they're scared, really scared that they're never
- 7:17going to be able to own a home. They're never going to be able
- 7:19to catch up. The, the, you know, the boomers
- 7:22of all the money, the, the government is broken.
- 7:25There's they're, that's just a bunch of fraud.
- 7:27They don't trust anybody. And they're, and like, this is
- 7:29literally the, the, the typical conversation with a 20 year old.
- 7:32They're like, I need to find a way to make money fast.
- 7:36How can I do that? Well, you know you can.
- 7:40The more there there were more, more money was spent on lottery
- 7:44tickets last year the United States than books, TV's, TV
- 7:51shows or or movies and and music all together they spend more
- 7:57money on lottery tickets. People did.
- 8:00Not the young people, but people.
- 8:02So why is that? Why is that?
- 8:05Because they're they need help. They they're desperate, they
- 8:08want, they just want to make money fast.
- 8:10So that's why you're seeing Polymarket and Kyle, she just
- 8:12explode in revenue. Like they're all betting on
- 8:16sports and and politics and anything.
- 8:19Just I got to have a quick win. When you're purchasing power
- 8:23bleeds out year after year, when housing continues to get further
- 8:27out of reach, when AI is threatening entry level jobs.
- 8:31When every institution feels broken, people don't have the
- 8:34bandwidth to notice that Congress just introduced a bill
- 8:37to buy a million Bitcoin. They're too busy trying to
- 8:40survive. And the numbers are staggering.
- 8:42Over the last six years, the S&P 500 has risen 130%.
- 8:46Over that same period, consumer sentiment has collapsed 55% to
- 8:51its lowest level since the data began in 1952.
- 8:54So stocks are at all time highs. Meanwhile, everyday people have
- 8:57never felt worse. That's not a healthy economy.
- 9:00That's two economies, one for the people closest to the money
- 9:03printer and one for everyone else.
- 9:05And Bitcoin is caught right in the middle of it.
- 9:07James Check published a piece over the weekend called Peak
- 9:09Apathy, and the picture he paints is exactly what it sounds
- 9:12like. Nobody's buying, nobody's
- 9:15selling, nobody's doing anything.
- 9:17The market has flat lined into the tightest trading range it's
- 9:20seen in years. Volatility has collapsed, and
- 9:23the only people posting with any confidence on X right now are
- 9:26bears. Mark Cuban just announced he
- 9:29sold most of his Bitcoin and told the world it's lost.
- 9:32The plot and Checkmate's conclusion is the part that
- 9:34matters. These are the exact conditions
- 9:37from both an on chain in a sentiment perspective that show
- 9:39up in very late stage bear markets and early bull markets.
- 9:43Every Bitcoin bear market to date has ended and it almost
- 9:45always ends when everyone still thinks it will continue
- 9:48indefinitely. Now layer the macro on top of
- 9:50all of this. Kevin Wash was sworn in as the
- 9:52new Fed chair three days ago and markets are still split on
- 9:55whether he's going to cut or hike interest rates.
- 9:58Fed futures are pricing a coin flip chance of a hike by early
- 10:01next year. James Lavish wrote a piece in
- 10:03his informationist newsletter this week called What If the Fed
- 10:06Raises Rates and he walked through all three options.
- 10:09Hike, hold or cut. the US has 39 trillion in debt and the
- 10:14interest alone is eating over a trillion dollars a year, more
- 10:17than the country spends on defense.
- 10:19The debt is so big now that it doesn't matter which lever Wash
- 10:22pulls, Every door leads to the same room. the Fed ends up
- 10:26printing money to keep the system standing, and I think the
- 10:29armabile is a response to that reality.
- 10:31So if the fiscal math is this broken, if the petrodollar is
- 10:34fracturing, if the system is forcing the basement no matter
- 10:37who sits in the chair, where does that lead?
- 10:39Luke Groman sat down with Marty bent on TFTC last week and
- 10:43walked it all the way to the end.
- 10:44I think it's start with gold. I think it's started.
- 10:47I think it's accelerating. Obviously, gold's higher than
- 10:50treasuries and global FX reserves as we speak that
- 10:53surpassed that last year. I think it's going to continue
- 10:55simply because there's just trust is breaking down and if
- 11:00you don't hold it, you don't own it.
- 11:01And the repeated weaponization of the dollar and treasuries and
- 11:04FX reserves, etcetera. So I think it'll start with gold
- 11:09and I think you'll see, you know, trade net, settle in gold.
- 11:13I think you'll, you know, China has that framework completely
- 11:17set up. It continues to boggle my mind
- 11:19that it's like hiding in plain sight.
- 11:21There's a yuan clearing offshore, yuan clearing bank in
- 11:24every single major gold hub, London, Switzerland, Singapore,
- 11:30UAE, Hong Kong and of course, in Shanghai.
- 11:36Why? Well, because if China's paying,
- 11:39you know more. With yuan, particularly in
- 11:42commodities, there's going to be commodity producers ending up
- 11:46with some excess you want and they're going to need to do
- 11:49something with it other than buy Chinese goods with it, solar
- 11:52panels, batteries and ID, etcetera.
- 11:55And they're recycling into gold. You can see it clear as day if
- 11:57you look at Switzerland's gold exports to Saudi Arabia.
- 12:00It's astonishing chart, right? So there's an offshore yuan
- 12:04clearing bank in Switzerland and Swiss gold exports to China.
- 12:08They're like this over the last four years since since we
- 12:12sanctioned Russian FX reserves, which is interesting because I
- 12:16had two different people that don't know each other.
- 12:18They're long time veterans in the oil market say to me, and I
- 12:20quote, the Saudis were horrified, quote, horrified by
- 12:26the US sanctions of Russian FX reserve.
- 12:28And so now it looks like you've got Saudi net settling some
- 12:32portion of their oil sales in gold.
- 12:34That's just a fact. You know, if you look at the
- 12:36trade flows, if Saudi purchases of gold from, so you'll say
- 12:39Swiss exports of gold from Switzerland to Saudi or like
- 12:42that some portion of Saudis gold oil exports are getting settled
- 12:48in gold. Why they're either converting
- 12:51dollars or you want it doesn't really matter.
- 12:53You know, it's which Chuck E Cheese token you use to buy the
- 12:55gold doesn't really matter. But my point is the Chinese have
- 12:57facilitated to make it very easy to do that.
- 13:01And so that to me is the road map.
- 13:04I think that's going to continue.
- 13:06I think the Chinese are going to continue to do that.
- 13:08I think others in Asia will do that.
- 13:10And I think what we're seeing in in, you know, if you call up a
- 13:13chart of, you know, the two year Japanese, you know, government
- 13:15bond yield against gold over five years, like they're the
- 13:18same chart. Japanese people are very
- 13:20monetarily sophisticated. They're smart people.
- 13:23Like they know where this is going.
- 13:25They, you know, they did the same math Kyle Bass did on Japan
- 13:2715 years ago. Like once it gets to a certain
- 13:30number, they're screwed there. There's no way out.
- 13:32So what do you buy when you buy gold?
- 13:36So now Bitcoin, I think is ultimately I think going to
- 13:42serve that role as starting with sort of the people, if you will,
- 13:48rather than sort of the official dumb.
- 13:52But in the short run, it trades as as sort of high beta tech.
- 13:55And if rates are going up on high beta tech, not good rates
- 13:59are going up on high, you know, on on Bitcoin is not good for
- 14:04now. Now ultimate is to be really,
- 14:06really good because there's nothing more bullish for a
- 14:08neutral reserve asset then sovereign insolvency.
- 14:14There's nothing more bullish for a neutral reserve asset than
- 14:16sovereign insolvency. And remember, Groman isn't a
- 14:20conviction LED Bitcoiner. He sold most of his Bitcoin late
- 14:22last year. He's just a macro analyst who
- 14:24spent his career studying sovereign debt, trade flows, and
- 14:28central bank reserves. And when he follows incentives
- 14:30all the way through, he arrives at gold first as the
- 14:33institutional play, then Bitcoin from the ground up.
- 14:36And notice what the Armor bill does?
- 14:38It follows the exact same logic. Revalue the gold to buy the
- 14:42Bitcoin. The legislation and the macro
- 14:44thesis arrived at the same conclusion independently.
- 14:47Gold is the bridge and Bitcoin is the destination.
- 14:51OK, before I bring this all together, I want to let you know

- 15:05Stephen Lebka wrote something this week that I keep coming
- 15:07back to. He said our current society is
- 15:09not a stable destination. It's a transitional zone, an
- 15:13uneasy bridge between the old world and the next one.
- 15:16At this point, standing still is not an option.
- 15:18We don't know if the armor bill passes.
- 15:21We don't know if this administration sees the gold to
- 15:23Bitcoin bridge the way we do. But the incentives point here,
- 15:27the math points here, the game theory points here, and now the
- 15:30legislation exists. Peak apathy and maybe peak
- 15:34convergence and almost nobody is watching.
- 15:38That's not a problem, that's a signal.
- 15:40All right now I want to hear from you.
- 15:42Did you even hear about the armabile before this episode?
- 15:45How is this not the biggest story in Bitcoin right now?
- 15:47Are you watching the geopolitics?
- 15:49Are you still focused on the short term price chart?
- 15:51And if the gold to Bitcoin bridge is the play, what does
- 15:54that mean for your timeline? Drop your thoughts in the
