- 0:00Yo. Man. So we're back again for another episode at the Grounded Show,
- 0:04and it's a nice little collaboration with Sean Madten. What's the official name
- 0:08of your podcast? I switched it to the Shawn matt Sean Mattens last year.
- 0:13All right, Yeah, what was it before the in the hall?
- 0:16In the hall? What was the origin of that? Getting kicked out of
- 0:21class? Just like talking shit with the It was the whole thing about like
- 0:25when you're in if you get kicked out of class, you're not the only
- 0:29kid in the hallway. There's hallway kids facts, you know, like you're
- 0:33just out there because you talk too much. But the kid next to you,
- 0:36like he had a gun in his backpack or like he stabbed the teacher.
- 0:39You you got to talk to him for ninety minutes till the cops come
- 0:42get Did you ever skip class? Like in high school? I didn't skip
- 0:47class, but I would just if I showed up to the school like parking
- 0:51lot and I already heard the warning bell like ding ding ding, I'm like,
- 0:54man, fuck this, I just I just went and got McDonald's breakfast.
- 0:56Yeah, Like, if you're going to be late, at least have
- 0:58some some food. I Remember we used to skip class, and it's like,
- 1:02when you think about it, it's the stupidest thing because you're still at
- 1:03school and the whole time you're skipping, you're just trying not to get caught
- 1:07skipping, you know what I mean, Like you're just kind of roaming the
- 1:11halls, and then you see other kids who were at school skipping. Yeah,
- 1:15that's the point exactly. That's what I'm saying. Like I think about
- 1:17it now, and it's like you would see other kids from Afar that were
- 1:19doing the same thing, and y'all just kind of like nod to each other.
- 1:22Just go learn the pythagory and theme. At that point, Bro said
- 1:25it hiding under the water fountain. Yeah, that's that's one thing that I
- 1:27wish I would have learned when I was younger, Like that, it's way
- 1:30harder to avoid work than just doing work. Yeah you know what I mean,
- 1:36Like you just go through so much trying to be lazy that it's like,
- 1:38Bro, just do it. It's just better for everybody if you just
- 1:41do it. Yeah, that's true. That's true for a certain extent.
- 1:46I did a golf course maintenance, and trust me, you'll do anything out
- 1:49the shovel sand. How was that? Where was it like a high end
- 1:55golf club or like oh yeah, yeah, yeah, this is when I
- 1:57was really down bad, like nine months ago. For like three months,
- 2:06I would get up at like four in the morning to go like cut grass
- 2:09or I would, Bro, you'd have a miner's light on your forehead because
- 2:15you have to do it before the first like person tease off. So Bro,
- 2:17I'd have to do like mister Miyagi circles in the sand with the rake
- 2:23to make it look beautiful. Oh yeah yeah at like four am. Dog,
- 2:27it's snakes and shit. It's crazy, like thinking about the problems that
- 2:31were probably in your life at that time. And then the guy that went
- 2:35to the golf course probably really was like mad whenever those circles weren't there,
- 2:39you know what I mean, Like that's the stuff that bothered him. Bro.
- 2:43You would see the members and they would all be like hmm, oh
- 2:46a good day, you know, like cause it was like one hundred and
- 2:50ten thousand just to just to like sign up, and then you got to
- 2:54pay like three grand a month. Yeah, oh dude, get some paper
- 2:59towels. It already happened. I mean, all right, they just gotta
- 3:04let it happen to me. But yeah, I get one hundred and ten
- 3:07thousand for what for the initiation fee for the initiation and it was like your
- 3:12three grand a month. Dudes. Oh gosh, bro, one hundred and
- 3:15ten thousands. Yeah, just to be able to play golf somewhere. Yeah,
- 3:20he'd be weed whacking and they're like like Ferrari's pull up and you're like,
- 3:24well, the only thing I know about country clubs is what I see
- 3:29on Curb your Enthusiasm when they be hanging out in the country club, and
- 3:32they may be making them like wear a shirt with a collar when they're inside
- 3:37and stuff like that. They can't have their cell phones out and stuff.
- 3:40I'm like, dang, bro, that's really how it be in there.
- 3:44Yeah, no, it's uh. They don't really play games, man.
- 3:46I mean they play games, that's the whole thing. But they don't look
- 3:49they don't look like they're having any fun, you know what I mean.
- 3:53All they're dudes playing games, but they look like they're miserable. They're playing
- 3:57games with mad rules, Like you're not just in in the game, you're
- 4:00playing mad restrictions on it. Just like it's Karen golf. Like you ever
- 4:05seen people play croquet. That's how rich people were there. They like would
- 4:09bring their own mallet and then they and they were all white. I didn't
- 4:15know that was a thing, dude, kind of creepy, big white like
- 4:17sombrero hats and like all white. It looks like, get out. It's
- 4:23like, do you think it's just like it's it's just been a custom for
- 4:27so long that that's just all they know, Like you know what I mean,
- 4:30Like they always had money, Yeah, they always had money. They
- 4:33always did things like that, So it was just kind of like I think,
- 4:36so you know, I feel like you can be so rich or corny
- 4:41and that's what the that's what they are, yeah, to a certain point,
- 4:44Like and it's like it's happened since the beginning of time. I feel
- 4:47like like if you're coddled, you're just a cornball, you know what I
- 4:51mean. Like it always happens like if if you got everything and you don't
- 4:57really you know what I'm saying, Like it's kind of crazy to think that
- 5:00you doing better. You're kind of dooming your future generations, you know what
- 5:05I mean, because then they don't got to do as much and then it's
- 5:08like, well, your whole bloodline gets like weaker and weaker exactly. Now
- 5:13you're seeing like royalty crumble because it's like everyone's on TikTok, you know,
- 5:17and it's like you just act like a king and they're like, you know
- 5:20what I mean, no one cares anymore, bro. But it's just a
- 5:24structure. It's crazy too, because like they have those stories of certain like
- 5:28sons of kings or whatever that once their dad dies and they take over,
- 5:30they just like destroyed a whole you know, they destroyed a whole village or
- 5:34destroyed a whole empire because they're just being idiots, you know. They crashed
- 5:39the family chariot facts, you know, joy riding, and now it's like
- 5:43the family mayback or whatever. Bro, It's just the same thing over and
- 5:46over. Yes, Wow, I was reading about uh, one of the
- 5:51sons of one of the emperors in Rome, so it was Marcus Relius,
- 5:56and then his son's name was Comedists, and basically Commodists was one of those
- 6:00like we're talking about, like he's he was kind of lazy. He was
- 6:02always just had like a whole bunch of prostitutes and stuff like that. So
- 6:09when he became king, he ended up getting like six hundred prostitutes, like
- 6:13three hundred chicks and like three hundred dudes. And that's just like that was
- 6:16his whole like little click of like his he was banging everything. Bro,
- 6:25at that point, you gotta respect it. You know. He sounds like
- 6:29a bodega owner. I owner. Yeah, I mean he pretty much was
- 6:33when you think about it, he definitely was. Uh, you know,
- 6:38he had control of the grains. He's just making me each a lotus in
- 6:42the back. Speaking of oudego owners, you've seen that one dude on TikTok
- 6:47that he makes the like crazy sandwiches and stuff and be like, shit,
- 6:53I don't know if I've seen him. I've seen the one where the guy
- 6:56like it's like a game show. People are just trying to buy backwards and
- 6:59he's like there's a color. They're like, bro, come on, it's
- 7:00like in Chicago. Yeah. Yeah. Now there's this one in New York
- 7:03that he's like he just makes them gross New York things that like, for
- 7:10example, there's like a little food truck around here that's like a New York
- 7:14food truck, you know what I'm saying. And you know, I went
- 7:16to it and I felt like everything there was like gross, Like it's like
- 7:19over you know, like mad cheese or like you get what I'm saying.
- 7:24It's like like two extra. And then like the guy that I'm talking about,
- 7:28he'll do something where it's like he'll make a sandwich with like ground beef
- 7:32and fruit loops and cheese and he'll fry cheese sticks on it and he'll put
- 7:36it on the on the grill and like fry it all up. It's like
- 7:40it's crazy, bro. That's just like that weird kid in middle school that
- 7:43grew up that would like put his milk in the corn and shit, You're
- 7:46like, bro, what are you doing? But you know how like there's
- 7:48like a whole there's like a whole community now of like you just see a
- 7:53whole bunch of gross treats. Like people will put like cheeseburgers on pizzas with
- 7:57nachos and like put it in the front, you know, in the oven,
- 8:01and it's like what is that. It's the end of civilization. It's
- 8:05kind of like like comedists he had the six hundred horse. To a certain
- 8:11point, we just eat everything. It's like fuck it, just put it
- 8:13all together. I mean, yeah, it's just ancient hunter Biden. Hey,
- 8:20that's kind of like commonists when you think about it too, Like he's
- 8:24just the guy's son, just always privileged. Look what he's up to.
- 8:28This was this was this was BC before computers, more computers. Bro.
- 8:33You have the laptop, the communist laptop. You think he had like a
- 8:37tablet, like a literal tablet where he just had like everything like scratched in
- 8:46engraved on something like today, I got my dick stuck from every angle,
- 8:50you know, Like if they found that, they're like, oh my god,
- 8:52hieroglyphics is the egg planta? You know, it's crazy, man.
- 9:00I was talking to my boy the other day, like just about the concept
- 9:03that no matter what time period we're talking about, like the means were different,
- 9:07but the ideas were the same. People thought the same thing, you
- 9:11know what I mean, Like emotions were the same. Emotions don't really change,
- 9:13you know what I mean. Oh it's crazy, bro. I got
- 9:16long story short. I got stuck in a mall in France with like credit
- 9:22cards denying because like I forgot to let him know I was going overseas.
- 9:28So I was just like sitting on a bench in a mall in France and
- 9:30just watching people interact with their kids and I'm like, it's all the same,
- 9:33dude. They're just slapping their kid with like, you know, with
- 9:37a different accents. We You're like, it's the same shit, dude,
- 9:43Yeah, this kid's fucking up the kid that the kid that runs in the
- 9:46mall fall starts crying. It's the same. It's just the same. We're
- 9:50all human, yep. But they just have a dumb accent. I always
- 9:54find it funny like certain people, and it's it's usually people that I don't
- 9:58travel as much that love to romanticize the location, like like if, like
- 10:03you said, like if the people were different there or something like that,
- 10:05right, And it's like, although to us, I feel like to a
- 10:09certain aspect, people are a little different places, but just from the point
- 10:13of view of like some places will be a little nicer. When you go
- 10:16to like a more busy city, people are a little more rude because they're
- 10:20just kind of just joke. Yeah, they're a little more just trying to
- 10:22do their thing type. See tourists as like, get out of my way,
- 10:26bro, I'm not here on vacation. Yep. You know what I
- 10:28mean this is my livelihood. Yeah, man, I lived in Pennsylvania for
- 10:33like three months. I came right back, bro, because when I was
- 10:35out there, it was just it made me miserable. So I understood why
- 10:39they were miserable, you know what I'm saying, Like, because I went
- 10:41out there and in the middle of the winter, you know, there was
- 10:45a blizzard. You got to wake up like mad hours before to like get
- 10:48somewhere because there's like snow everywhere, and you got to like defrost the car
- 10:52and stuff. Yo. Imagine you're getting up to start your day and before
- 10:58you even accomplish anything, it's been like three or four hours of you doing
- 11:01work. Oh yeah, your morning, dig your car out, dig your
- 11:07car out, slow drive, you know all that stuff. It just and
- 11:09then three four hours later then it's like, oh, now I'm at work
- 11:13and I have to work a whole shit to then do the same thing on
- 11:16my way back home, like and then find parking crazy. Man, nah
- 11:22Man, I don't shout out to the people that I live up north because
- 11:28nah man, bro, I lived it for like three years as a kid.
- 11:33The snow is fantastic, yeah, but I was like every time it
- 11:35snowed. I'd see like my dad like getting mad, and I'm like it's
- 11:39a wonderful time of the year, and he's like, yeah, I gotta
- 11:41shovel this shit. Yeah, you know, it's like always like a pain
- 11:45in the ass, and I'm throwing snowballs building snow man. You know it's
- 11:48funny, man, because when me and my brother when we moved up there,
- 11:52the first time we saw snow was up there, and we're originally from
- 11:56Puerto Rico, Like I was born in Puerto Rico, So I'm definitely not
- 11:58like a cold guy at all, you know what I mean. So like,
- 12:01boy, yeah, facts, when that first snow hit, it was
- 12:05the middle of the night too, we ran out like, oh man,
- 12:07this is crazy. The snow whatever. He made a snowball through it at
- 12:11me. That shit hurt. I was so pissed. It's probably more ice
- 12:15than yeah, yeah, exactly. It was basically like he just made an
- 12:18ice ice cube and just threw it at my face. Puerto Rican snowball.
- 12:22That's a Puerto Rica snowball. That's how you know. We was rookies,
- 12:26you know what I mean, Like we over here putting the ice together,
- 12:28throwing fucking first degree assault with the deadly weapon. Yeah, those are the
- 12:35window breakers right there. That's like a golf ball coming at you. Yeah.
- 12:39Bro, you got to get the powdery stuff. Yeah. I don't
- 12:41know now that you mentioned that. We went to Colorado on for twenty a
- 12:46couple of years in a row, but the first time that we went,
- 12:50it just happened to snow that time, like, and the people that lived,
- 12:54like all the uber drivers and everything were telling us like, oh,
- 12:56it's rare that the snow is just late in the year, you know what
- 12:58I'm saying. Yeah, but it snowed like close to like one of the
- 13:03top of the mountains. We're high as fuck. Dog, it starts snowing
- 13:07like and like the clouds are underneath us. It's snowing on a mountain.
- 13:11The sun's speaking, I'm doing a fucking snow angel. You know. It's
- 13:15for a twenty dog. It was like I felt like I was on top
- 13:16of the world that day, you know what I mean, Like especially not
- 13:20seeing that was my first time seeing like mountains like that, you know what
- 13:22I mean. Like I had seen mountains before, but not like you know,
- 13:26a mile up type stuff. And you know why, you really enjoyed
- 13:28it because you didn't have to drive down the mountain to go to work exactly.
- 13:33Otherwise you'd be like fuck, yeah, yeah, but yeah you're doing
- 13:35snow angels yep, not clocking in. Yeah, I can't even. Man,
- 13:39it's different when it's like an inconvenient because snow can be an inconvenience.
- 13:43Yeah, but if you're like I mean, I lived in in a long
- 13:48Beach, New York, and one of my favorite things was we had like
- 13:50a deck like a patio, and we would just put the beer and like
- 13:56all our stuff just in the snow. It was like just like an outdoor
- 13:58cooler. So we go out there. It was just like a vibe.
- 14:03I used to see people up there that would have like a jacuzzi built into
- 14:07the ground, like in their yard or in their backyard, and they would
- 14:09just be out there when it was snowing. Yeah. I saw that a
- 14:13lot in Pennsylvania. Yeah, because you're like sitting in a hundred degree water
- 14:16and you'll see them like melting around you. You'll see them get out like
- 14:20walking with the swim suit on, you know, because their body is still
- 14:22hot and everything. It's like a crazy snow you know what I mean yeah,
- 14:26but yeah, man, when when I came across you, it was
- 14:31like seeing all that Florida Man stuff and like those different things. And then
- 14:35I went and seen you. You were on the lineup with Jari and it
- 14:37was funny as hell, and I kind of wanted to ask you like when
- 14:41you started doing comedy and also like what kind of led to you kind of
- 14:46catching a vibe with like the Florida Man stuff and the interviews you was doing
- 14:50as the Florida Man. Yeah, so getting into stand up. I just
- 14:58kind of ended up being a loser in California. I ended up out there
- 15:01like doing a sales gig and it like fell apart at the office. So
- 15:07I was like living with like a coworker I barely knew, and he went
- 15:11home on Thanksgiving. I didn't have the money for like a ticket to go
- 15:16back to Florida. So I'm just like out there in California just like I
- 15:20was fat. Bro. I was like eating like a ham sandwich on Thanksgiving,
- 15:24and I was watching like every special like anything to just like make me
- 15:28laugh, you know what I mean, because I was just like down bad.
- 15:31Yeah, yeah, So I was like I'll watch you know, pretty
- 15:35much every comedy thing I could find, listen to anything podcast, and then
- 15:39I was like, I really think I could do this, Like I don't
- 15:43know, like I could figure it out, like I knew. It was
- 15:46like a bold statement of being, like having no experience in being like I
- 15:50could do that, because that's just like what everybody says. But everybody that
- 15:56I was listening to would say, like, move to New York City.
- 15:58That's where you got to start because it's the most stage time. So like
- 16:02for the next two years, I had my wallpaper on my phone of the
- 16:07club stand up in New York because I'm like, oh, I want to
- 16:10perform there. And like just after two years, I just like ended up
- 16:14in New York City just were you're doing comedy in those two years or b
- 16:18I just like, I'm going to start in New York City. Because you
- 16:23ever read the thirty three Strategies of War, So there's this thing called death
- 16:32ground where generals would literally put their troops up against mountains to where they couldn't
- 16:38retreat because when your back's like against the wall, you fight twice as hard,
- 16:45so they'd win more battles, putting them in shitty situations. So it's
- 16:49like a thing to that. So I knew if I'd just like trap myself
- 16:52in New York City, I'd have no other Stewart. Yeah, I like
- 16:57all either it orld just be like the funniest homeless person you know. And
- 17:03I had like four hundred dollars in a saturn I on two thousand and three
- 17:07and just mobbed up there. I remember driving through New York City the first
- 17:11night, just being like, what did I do? You drove from?
- 17:14I drove from Ohio. So I was selling alarms in Ohio door to door
- 17:18because that's like door to door sales is what I've always done. So I
- 17:22was in Ohio want a blitz, that's what they call it. And I
- 17:25was just in a neighborhood and I was like, dude, I'm closer than
- 17:29I ever will be to New York City. I'm like four hours I think
- 17:32it was like four or seven hours something like that. And I left at
- 17:34like three am, just fucking dipped on the company. And uh yeah,
- 17:41I had a hotel in New York for two weeks and I just like figured
- 17:44it out, bro. But it was nuts and had the time of my
- 17:47life. Dude, taking that risk, like some of the best years of
- 17:51my life. Bro, like the first two years in New York City,
- 17:52just not knowing what the hell to do. I could imagine. Man,
- 17:56New York is one of those places that literally looks like how it looks in
- 17:59the MOS when you go out there, like it's like mad, like like
- 18:03it's impressive, you know what I mean. Can't smell the movies, but
- 18:07the smell is the four D. The fort changes everything. But now there's
- 18:12nothing like New York City. Man, It'll forever have a place in my
- 18:17heart. That's where I got good at comedy because I feel like yourself going
- 18:21back there, Oh for sure, dude. I still have like really good
- 18:22friends there that are like like, shout out Nick to Lelly. He got
- 18:26past it a few clubs now. So it's like that's the dream. Is
- 18:30Like, it's one thing to be a New York stand up comedian, but
- 18:33to like be living off comedy in your city, especially in New York,
- 18:37that's like an accolade. Man. Everybody wants to be a New York comedian,
- 18:42you know, at least coming up. Yeah, So, so what
- 18:47what's the what's the aspect of New York comedy that's different than the aspect of
- 18:52like Orlando comedy, Well, I think it's just stage time, man,
- 18:56and uh, Orlando is about to change for the better twenty twenty four.
- 19:02I know that for a fact. It's just the lack of venues, bro.
- 19:04And there's no scene. There was no there's a scene now, but
- 19:08there was no like there's no other big names, Orlano's kind of a ghost
- 19:12town as far as stand up or like, I feel like a lot of
- 19:17live performance. But I feel like a lot of talented people come out of
- 19:19Florida. It's just they always feel like they have to leave the state.
- 19:22And that was the same way bro. Like I never started in Florida.
- 19:26Yeah, but I knew it has a scene and it's growing. And so
- 19:30I think the difference, man, is you can go on stage eight times
- 19:33a night if you want to. In New York. You might have to
- 19:37pay a couple five dollars for five minutes spots like pay to play. Yeah,
- 19:41but if you really want that stage time, I mean you could.
- 19:44You can get an hour of stage time over like eight to ten spots in
- 19:48New York City at night and they're all right there. You walk, take
- 19:51the uber, take the subway, and it's just like a it's every night,
- 19:56just like it's a movie, bro. You know, but it really
- 19:59is. I think that's the difference. Bro. It's just like the raw
- 20:03going down in the basements to tell jokes, going into like a fire hazard
- 20:07situation, to sling a dick joke. It's like, oh man, it's
- 20:11all worth it. It is. I have this like little theory where it's
- 20:15like, I mean, it's not like an exclusive theory, but I always
- 20:18feel like you got to pay the cost no matter what, you know what
- 20:22I mean. Like some people pay, like literally pay the cost by going
- 20:25to school, you know what I mean, where they're putting themselves in one
- 20:27hundred thousand dollars a debt to say this is what's gonna pay my bills and
- 20:32this is how I'm gonna go forward. Some people do it, you know,
- 20:34go to the army and they're literally you know, boot camp and away
- 20:38from their family, and they're doing the sacrifice that way, you know what
- 20:41I mean. But everybody always has to I don't want to say take that
- 20:47l but it's like it's sweat equity exactly, Like you're not you're not gonna
- 20:52ever jump in the situation and be like good, like well off, you
- 20:56know what I mean. And I feel like that's the part that be the
- 20:59barrier for all people where they just don't understand that. It's like you're always
- 21:06gonna have to be the corny one. You're always gonna have to figure it
- 21:11out that you know, whatever you're trying to do, it's not always gonna
- 21:15land. And that reality is I feel like what holds a lot of people
- 21:19back, you know what I mean? Oh, it's held me back man
- 21:22like up until I would say, probably like eight months ago, as just
- 21:30being like I don't give a fuck in the sense of like, yeah,
- 21:34even if the next forty podcast episodes suck, I'm still gonna do them because
- 21:41it's just you get better every time or you or you come up with a
- 21:45thought or an idea that leads to something better, but just be just being
- 21:49messy with it, man Like I always thought everything happened to be perfect.
- 21:55It just delays your your greatness so to speak, because you're just holding yourself
- 22:00back at that point and then kind of like going off what you're saying when
- 22:03you're doing the creative stuff. Your quote unquote resume is like the things you've
- 22:10done, you know what I mean. And like a lot of creative people
- 22:12don't understand that you never doing anything, it closes doors for you, you
- 22:18know what I mean, because people aren't going to reach out because they see
- 22:22that you're not working, right, you know what I mean. And if
- 22:23people see that you're not working, why would they put work your way?
- 22:27You know what I mean. And it's like a concept that people kind of
- 22:30don't understand, like you got to you gotta create some movement for people to
- 22:37want to move with you, you know what I mean. It goes back
- 22:40to that thing of if you're just sitting in your car with the flashers on
- 22:44and you're like, oh, man, you know, I wish someone was
- 22:47here to help me push my car. But if people see you pushing your
- 22:49car, they'll pull over and just help you push a stranger's car to the
- 22:53gas station. Facts. That's a perfect complete stranger bro. And it's the
- 22:57same thing like I'm one hundred and twenty five episodes or whatever deep into the
- 23:03podcast and I'm like not being patient with I'm like, dude, you've only
- 23:08been doing it two years. It's it's a complete reset. It's just like
- 23:11stand up, Like I'm seven seven to eight years in the stand up,
- 23:15but I'm only two years into podcasting, so it's not going to be as
- 23:18good as the stand up because it's a completely different format. But just building
- 23:23that catalog right now, Like even on YouTube, I have two one hundred
- 23:29and twenty four more episodes or more pieces of content on YouTube that people are
- 23:33finding as I'm sleeping. So it's like having that catalog and people want to
- 23:38see the progression. Man. Fact, go back and listen to your favorite
- 23:41podcasts or your favorite artists, like first couple songs, You're gonna be like,
- 23:45ooh, no, wonder they didn't blow up at that time. That'd
- 23:49be the thing too, man. And you know, I feel like we've
- 23:52all been guilty of it. It's like sometimes you get a little restless and
- 23:56kind of feel like, dang, why am I not geting my opportunity.
- 24:00It's like you're not there yet, you know what I mean. And that's
- 24:02a hard reality for people, you know, just to really understand, like,
- 24:06yeah, you're getting better and you're figuring it out, but you're not
- 24:10there yet. You haven't that like you said, that sweat equity is not
- 24:12there. I've had that conversation with myself a lot too, is like,
- 24:17yeah, you're good, but you're not great. You're not you know,
- 24:23there's so many comedians out there, why would why would they pay to watch
- 24:27your act? And if you have that like honest conversation, not only do
- 24:33you like really get in the books and like start writing or like just being
- 24:37it makes you be more creative, like forcefully, I can't explain it.
- 24:41Yeah, but you almost will your way into like bettering yourself. Yeah,
- 24:45that you were like the second and third person that's told me that recently.
- 24:48So I definitely gotta do it. I'm gonna get a nice little notebook and
- 24:51start doing that. Do it, bro. But that that kind of makes
- 24:55me think also of like a concept that I always argue with is like,
- 24:59you know, you always see these things on Instagram and stuff. People are
- 25:02saying like, oh, support your friends, like you support these celebrities whatever,
- 25:07whatever, But it's like I look at it the other way, Like,
- 25:10brother, people around you never signed up to be a fan of your
- 25:12type of content, you know what I mean, Like just because they mess
- 25:17with you, like people don't think like maybe these people don't consume this kind
- 25:22of content period, you know what I mean? Like for us to think
- 25:26that the people around us have to support just because we decided to do something.
- 25:30It's kind of like to me, it's like kind of naive. And
- 25:33also like you gotta find your people, you know what I mean, Like
- 25:34shout out to my boy Freddie. He helps me a lot with like the
- 25:37music marketing and promotion and stuff. He's the one that really put that in
- 25:42my brain, like you got to find a fans of your music, you
- 25:45know what I'm saying, Like, don't try to make people around you like
- 25:49you. Already everybody that messages like that that is around you, they've already
- 25:55decided if they're going to listen to your music or not. Go look for
- 25:57other people. You're being the the kid that has to sell chocolate bars to
- 26:02go on the field trip, and you're just hitting up everybody you know,
- 26:04like you want to buy some chocolate, and it's like, no, dog,
- 26:07I don't even eat chocolate. That's your podcast, that's your music,
- 26:11that's your stand up. So yeah, I get that, bro. And
- 26:15it's also like people are so people that aren't in the entertainment industry, they
- 26:21don't understand like the lifestyle or how you have to operate in order to achieve
- 26:26the level of success you want in that particular industry. And seeing that is
- 26:32like, I gotta be less Like I don't know, people ask me the
- 26:38same comedy question over and over and over again, just like every day or
- 26:42anytime I meet someone new. It's like, so, you know, how
- 26:45do you come up with your skits? Do you know what you're gonna say
- 26:48when you go on stage? And it's it's copy and paste for everybody.
- 26:53But I gotta be more, Like I gotta just be more understanding of that.
- 26:59I'm like, yeah, it's got to be weird because this is a
- 27:00weird ass thing that I do. Yep. And it's like those people that
- 27:04have never even stepped in a comedy club or never have like even put themselves
- 27:08out there for anything, they'll ask you because a lot of times they're impressed
- 27:12by it, you know what I mean. It's something especially with comedy,
- 27:15man Like it's something everybody always says, but comedy is super brave. Bro
- 27:19Like you're standing up in a room full of strangers, like trying to because
- 27:23it's not to me, it's not just jokes, Like you're trying to relate
- 27:27through the joke. You know what, I say, like, at least
- 27:30that's how I feel like whenever you're listening to comedy, because if it was
- 27:33just somebody just straight trying to be funny, you know, I don't feel
- 27:37like it would be the same thing as somebody really telling a story and making
- 27:41it funny, you know what I mean? Yeah? And I think when
- 27:45you asked me before earlier before we recorded, was like, what's your twenty
- 27:48twenty four goals? And I think one of them is also to like take
- 27:52time to tell a story and not just have these jokey jokes or like funny
- 27:57thoughts, would actually like be more vulnerable on stage and like I guess share
- 28:04more a piece of like who I am. Yeah, And just like that
- 28:08makes me think about that show that you were at too, the comedy competition
- 28:14that Jari put on. Remember the guy that got towards the end of the
- 28:17competition, he was just saying he ran out of he ran out of material
- 28:21two rounds ago, and was talking about how he just started doing comedy.
- 28:25He didn't have enough material for this, but people thought it was funny because
- 28:26he was just saying some real stuff. And then he went on to talk
- 28:30about his life and like his wife and stuff, and it was just like
- 28:33naturally relatable and funny, and that's what won that round for him, because
- 28:40it's just people want the real now, bro, people are people see right
- 28:44through the fake shit? Now. Yeah, people are way too smart and
- 28:47also way too dumb. That's why. That's why I feel like the reps
- 28:52are so good, Like you're saying, like going Like, for you,
- 28:55it's going to different clubs and working on material and stuff. For me is
- 28:57being locked in the studio. It's like you're you're just trying to be honest,
- 29:04but you're refining your skill to do your honesty in a way more clever
- 29:10way than a normal person would, You know what I mean? Because yeah,
- 29:14being honest is easy, But being honest in a way that you can
- 29:18captivate an audience. Being honest in a way that you can make people laugh
- 29:21and think about what you said and relate it to their lives and stuff like,
- 29:23that's a different thing, you know what I mean? Oh, for
- 29:26sure. And going back to why you do it in the first place,
- 29:30you know, like I got in a stand up because I was like alone
- 29:37and like fucking sad and shit, and uh, I'm like, oh,
- 29:41I want to I want to be. I want to be adding to the
- 29:45content of somebody else who needs like a laugh, or someone who's like on
- 29:48the way to work of a job that they hate, but they got that.
- 29:52They got that six am laugh on the way to work because it's like
- 29:56something I wrote or said, like once you go back to like want to
- 30:00have fun with it, Yeah, changes everything bro facts and even like for
- 30:06example, like with me with the music, there was like a time period
- 30:08where I was just like, even up until very recently, that I was
- 30:11just trying to make the best music I could. But like that was literally
- 30:15my mentality. I wasn't like we were saying, I wasn't trying to tell
- 30:18a story with it. I wasn't trying to think, Okay, what vibe
- 30:22do I want to give this? I was just like, yo, I
- 30:23want to make the best music I can and trying to make bangers exactly.
- 30:27And then I realized it's like I can't just try to make the best music
- 30:32I can. I got to figure out what's going to be the message with
- 30:36these things, like what are the topics, Like what's what's going to be
- 30:40the twists and turns in the song? Like we got to figure out the
- 30:42bones of it first, you know what I mean, that's their soul exactly
- 30:45exactly, and no feel it too. Like some of the best albums,
- 30:49you're just like you can feel that that person really took their time and like
- 30:56made something masterful. So so check this out. I want to get your
- 31:00opinion on this because in music, they always say that after somebody drops their
- 31:04first album, it's only downhill from there because their first album is kind of
- 31:08like their whole life. Well it's that, yeah, the sophomore jinks what
- 31:11they call it. So do you think that that kind of principle translates to
- 31:18comedy, because I feel like comedy is much less like common that somebody like
- 31:22their first special is like their greatest special, you know what I mean,
- 31:25Like sometimes it'll be like the second or third, you know what I mean,
- 31:27a lot of it, I mean for some some some people only have
- 31:32one special, you know. But I think it's the same way. I
- 31:37think. I think the more money you make in comedy, the less funny
- 31:40you get. It's harder because after a show, when you get on a
- 31:44private jet, I feel like, you know, I hope I never mail
- 31:48it in, But yeah, I think I think the more comfortable you get,
- 31:55the less they're the less of your edge is there. Do you think
- 32:00certain people like always think, like Kanye comes to mind, Like, do
- 32:05you ever think some artists kind of subconsciously torture themselves to not sacrifice their art
- 32:12Because I've always kind of felt like there's certain people that they'll just get to
- 32:15such a comfortable place that they just create chaos themselves because they just kind of
- 32:21like that feeling of the friction, you know what I mean. I think
- 32:23a lot of it goes to self sabotage, you know, like some people
- 32:29are some people are scared of success, and so though purposely sidetrack themselves or
- 32:37ruin theirselves, because once you go into that, that's a different people take.
- 32:42People don't like change, even if it's for like positive change. And
- 32:45I've been a victim of that too, of like I've turned down certain business
- 32:50opportunities to not get pulled out of the comedy world. Yeah, and sometimes
- 32:57you sit there broke, or like you get paid thirty bucks for a show
- 33:00and you're like, damn dog, I should have did the financial opportunity.
- 33:07But then you have those guys that are in that looking at and looking at
- 33:12what you're doing, and they're like, man, it's so cool that you're
- 33:14like following what you want to do because like the money is only a piece
- 33:19of it. Yeah, Money's a funny thing, man. Like I was
- 33:23when I was like in high school, there was like a little time period
- 33:27where I was homeless. Like it wasn't that long, but like it was
- 33:30like something that I always always put it in perspective for me, like how
- 33:35unimportant money is, you know what I mean, Because when you hit that
- 33:37rock bottom, it's like you kind of really see that, like if you
- 33:43you go up, you go down. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 33:46you just got to live your life no matter what's going on, and you
- 33:50can always find a way to navigate, you know what I mean. I
- 33:52feel like a lot of people kind of lead with their money situation instead of
- 33:58saying, Okay, I know I need to do certain things. You know
- 34:01I need you know, you need to make changes to get out of it.
- 34:04Let's let's change up this routine, you know what I mean, instead
- 34:07of just focusing every day all I don't got money. You know, It's
- 34:09kind of like what you were saying earlier, like you fell down and out
- 34:13and you came up with a plan, you put it in an action,
- 34:15and it propelled you to a better situation, right if you were just kind
- 34:19of sitting around like dang, I'm broke, like this sucks, you know
- 34:22what I mean, Like, you got to just keep it going, bro,
- 34:24You got to keep going man, Like there's a beauty in the struggle
- 34:30and rock bottom, dude, Like when you have nowhere to go but up,
- 34:36that's that can be so powerful. You know. I remember my car
- 34:39was out for repo, and like every time I hear like a tow truck
- 34:43or like a beep, I'd run outside. Yeah, and it was like
- 34:46it would be like an Amazon like backing out of the neighborhood. And I'm
- 34:51like I remember, like I got my car, Toad, and then every
- 34:54time I heard a beep, I'd freak out. But then I'm like,
- 34:57nah, I already got my car, Toad. Yeah. Yeah, the
- 34:59worst thing that could happen has happened. But now it's all right, let's
- 35:04get another car, you know what I mean. Like, you got to
- 35:06just keep going, bro. Like people are scared to like they say,
- 35:10like forty grand kills a lot of dreams. People are scared till I've never
- 35:15heard that. That's crazy. People are scared to just have their like back
- 35:19up against the wall, bro, or like the new thing now is like,
- 35:22oh, if I leave, I won't have health insurance or dental insurance.
- 35:25And it's like, Bro, you're gonna give up your dreams for dental
- 35:29insurance And Bro, that's crazy that you put it that way, because it's
- 35:30really like it's such a low amount of money to just like crush your soul,
- 35:36you know what I'm saying, Like just to agree to just be a
- 35:38little robot, you know what I mean, Like I'm gonna take this money
- 35:42and just be unhappy, like cause there's no my thing. Bro. Is
- 35:45like there's no way anybody could tell me that the presence set a situation like
- 35:52the present situation that we're all in with this working and all this shit.
- 35:55Ain't nobody happy doing it? Bro, I don't care what anybody says.
- 36:00Nobody wants to go to work like that, you know what I'm saying.
- 36:04Everybody wants to I feel like everybody does want to accomplish something in their day
- 36:09and feel like they did something, But everybody don't want to be going to
- 36:13work. Dog. So it's like like you said, man, so many
- 36:15people just agree to just be a part of that situation and have you know,
- 36:22somebody they don't respect telling them what to do. And you know what
- 36:25I mean, it's just kind of crazy to me, man, Like I
- 36:29always it always kind of blows my mind that people don't realize how much in
- 36:34control they are of their own life, you know what I mean, Like
- 36:36it's your life. You're the one making the decisions, you're the one choosing
- 36:38the path, you choose how people treat you, You choose how you treat
- 36:42people, and for you to just maneuver yourself into like a corner, it
- 36:46just doesn't make any sense to me. You know, it's your avatar,
- 36:50dude, Like when you start looking at it as like you're just in this
- 36:54thing, like you can really go and get it, like you really can.
- 37:00But I feel like we're in it to do it the best that we
- 37:04can, you know what I mean. Like it's just like I said,
- 37:07it'd be wild. I mean, think about people just not even thinking outside
- 37:12of their day to day problems, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 37:16it's really it's really consuming, you know what I mean. And there's a
- 37:20lot of distractions now, man, and you have to avoid that at all
- 37:22costs. You know, you have your people think because they have a nine
- 37:27to five, they can't do anything else, bro. But you can have
- 37:29a you come home, you have a six to nine, take that hour,
- 37:31break, shower, whatever you got to do, and then work from
- 37:36six to nine on your side business, your hustle, your art, and
- 37:39then you have now you have now you have three say you do that money
- 37:43through Friday. You put fifteen hours into your craft or your side business.
- 37:47Do that for two years. Now you don't have the nine to five.
- 37:52Now you can spend all the time on your craft. Like that's the dream,
- 37:54bro, is to give the peace sign. Yeah, but now you
- 37:59have to work twice as hard. But it's something that you give a shit
- 38:00about exactly. That's the difference, bro. Like I'll put eighty hours a
- 38:05week into comedy if I could, you know, because that it is work,
- 38:09but like the editing and all that, it's for like the ultimate purpose.
- 38:13Yeah. And then eventually you can have you can have a team,
- 38:15you can hire a camera guy, you can hire an editor, but you
- 38:20need like I feel like that's where I'm at, dude. It's like I
- 38:22kind of need a unit. Yeah, and it kind of goes back to
- 38:25what we were saying earlier, like if you don't create that motion, nobody's
- 38:29gonna want to help you out, you know what I'm saying, Like people
- 38:31don't want to most of the time. People don't want to get you off
- 38:36the ground. They want to help you elevate, you know what I mean.
- 38:38Like, and that's the thing, Like it's exactly what you said about
- 38:43pushing the car, Like you got to push the car yourself if you want
- 38:45anybody to help you, you know, like, yeah, not many people
- 38:46go zero to sixty with you, but like sixty two, one hundred,
- 38:51they'll like haul out, you know what I mean, Let's do it,
- 38:52like let's go yeah, cause, but but everybody. That's the thing that
- 38:57you have to bring something to the table exactly. I always like it kind
- 39:00of like I said earlier, like you got to look at it from their
- 39:02point of view, like if they're going to sacrifice their time, if they're
- 39:06going to sacrifice what they're doing, like their comfort, you gotta be you
- 39:09gotta be doing something that they gotta feel like is really something worth being around.
- 39:15And also like this is the thing that people don't realize is if you're
- 39:21on if you're affiliated with somebody or or their affiliated with you, is your
- 39:25representation of them. So if you're like you know, if you're like sloppy
- 39:30not showered out of shape, like, no one's gonna want you in their
- 39:34crew, regardless of oh you're funny and you're talented. It's like you gotta
- 39:39come correct, you have to have everybody has to be on point exactly.
- 39:45That's what it is. You got to be on point. And that's that's
- 39:47the hard part for a lot of people, just because it's a work that
- 39:51comes along with it, you know what I mean. I always think about
- 39:52this thing. Andre d. Thousands said on the Rick Ruben podcast a long
- 39:55time ago. It was not long time ago, It probably like four or
- 40:00five years ago by now, but he was basically just talking about with making
- 40:05music. He always kind of understood that like the repetition and the work that
- 40:10you're putting into it, into the craft is what gets you to the next
- 40:15level. Just even from the aspect of you recording and practicing, that builds
- 40:22up the strength and those facial muscles, you know what I mean. Then
- 40:25those muscles are stronger, and then you could do other vocal things that you
- 40:29couldn't do before you could last a little you know, you have a little
- 40:31more breath, you know exactly. And it's like when he said that,
- 40:34it was like, dang, Like it makes sense. Like you're literally by
- 40:37working, you're literally learning, you're getting better, you're seeing what not to
- 40:42do. Because I feel like that's like another big thing for people. They
- 40:45don't recognize the value of like doing something wrong because it at least tells you
- 40:51I'm not gonna do it that way, and you're eliminating it off the bat,
- 40:54you know what I mean, You're never gonna go down that road again
- 40:57because you already know that's not for me, that work. And it's you
- 41:00know what I'm saying, for whatever reason, Nah, So whenever that comes
- 41:04up again, you're already just pushing it off to the side. It's like,
- 41:07yeah, that's not for me, it don't work. Yeah, if
- 41:08it doesn't work, it's not for you. Get rid of it. Fact
- 41:12in any aspect. Yeah, it's it's a great point, bro. That's
- 41:15I think that's why I fall in love with comedy so much, is because
- 41:17it's just you get the instant gratification of like, hey, that thing that
- 41:22you wrote didn't get a laugh. Yeah, So now you can go home,
- 41:25you can be like damn, I suck, or you can rewrite it.
- 41:29And it's crazy how like you switch one word or one sentence and now
- 41:31it's like it hits. Yeah, everybody's clapping and you're like, wow,
- 41:37it's just a it's you gotta know what's funny. But it's also a puzzle.
- 41:40Yeah, and figuring out the formula. And I think that you know,
- 41:44with music and everything, everything has like this little formula to it,
- 41:46and it's just constantly playing with that the process of it. Patience and then
- 41:53speaking slow. That's the thing that I've been working on is like just take
- 41:59your Yeah, when you take your time, people see like okay, he's
- 42:05he's like in the pocket. Yeah, you know people people can read you
- 42:08like like that. Bro. Yeah, that that is definitely a good point.
- 42:14Like when people recognize that you're like seasoned, you know what I mean,
- 42:16they kind of perk up a little bit because they know they're about to
- 42:21hear some shit as opposed to like, you know, feeling the amateur vibe.
- 42:24Yeah, the body language, man psychology, that's the one thing I
- 42:30wish that I you know, if I did go to college, I would
- 42:31just take like a year of psychology, just even if it was like the
- 42:36basics. Yeah, because like I've been in sales for a long time and
- 42:38it's just I'm just so fascinated bro about like the human mind. Yeah,
- 42:44things and stuff yo, speaking about like stuff that works. The way you
- 42:49kind of came across my radar before I've seen you at the show that you
- 42:52were you and Jari were on, was the Florida Man stuff that you were
- 42:55doing. Would you say that that's like directly tied like where you grew up
- 43:00or in a way. Yeah. So I moved to Bradington when I was
- 43:05young, and it was just like cows and you could smell, you know,
- 43:07if it was a windy day, you could smell the cowshit, like
- 43:10on that kind of level. When I like we moved there when I was
- 43:14like eleven, and it was like a culture shock because I grew up in
- 43:17like DC area. Okay, so yeah, I would just I would make
- 43:21fun of like, you know, I was the only one in school that
- 43:23wasn't wearing a cameo jacket. I didn't go hunting, yeah, you know,
- 43:27I didn't have a big truck, never like was into that. Now
- 43:31I think it's like hilarious. But yeah, I was in La Man and
- 43:35I uh I ordered the Florida Man hat. It was like the it's a
- 43:40cameo hat with a mullet attached to it, okay, And I was gonna
- 43:45go to Rodeo Drive, call it Rodeo Drive because that's just what. And
- 43:50I was gonna like ask where like the gun shop or the pawn shop or
- 43:52the best pro to like a bunch of rich people or like a bunch of
- 43:57you know Persian Yeah, yeah people and shit, and just cause a scene
- 44:02you know what I mean down there and uh pandemic happened. So now I
- 44:07just have like the smullet thing, and I was like, I'm gonna do
- 44:09the Florida Man. And my friends were telling me out there, they're like,
- 44:13Florida Man is like that's the character, bro, Like that's the way
- 44:16out. And I'm just like whatever, it's a fucking mullet hat. But
- 44:21then yeah, like I would just play around with it, and I started
- 44:23making sketches and then like I put a few tiktoks out and they got like
- 44:29a couple of million views and stuff, and I'm like all right, there's
- 44:30something here. And then I ended up just I was applying for jobs and
- 44:35I was doing a bunch of interviews, but no one was hiring. At
- 44:37the end of the day, no one was hiring me for some reason.
- 44:39It was like a front, like everyone's hiring urgently but not hiring anybody.
- 44:45Yeah, and so I'm like, well, if I'm gonna be doing five
- 44:47zoom interviews a day and not getting hired, I might as well just troll.
- 44:52So I put the Florida man hat on and just kind of like made
- 44:54a whatever job I was applying for, I'd make like some weird backstory.
- 45:00A lot of it was off the top of my head because I didn't know
- 45:01what they were gonna say, so I'd play off of them. And it
- 45:05was like, it's just fun dude, and I might. I might do
- 45:07a bunch more. That's all people want for me now, Yo, it's
- 45:10funny because it's funny you saying that. It made me think about it,
- 45:15Like all the times that I've gone to California, they like know right away
- 45:19you from Florida, Like they hear it in your voice. They for some
- 45:22reason they know it from your outfits. You know what I mean, like
- 45:27one of the things that they that they were saying out there too, is
- 45:30like that we wear a lot of shorts. Yeah you know what I mean,
- 45:32Like I guess out there they don't really wear shorts like that, but
- 45:35they wear jeans and flip flops and it's like, bro, what are you
- 45:37doing? Yeah, they don't pick a lane. They'll have like a beanie
- 45:42and like a tank top. I will say this though about California. Man,
- 45:45Like you remember when you would watch like because you grew up in Florida
- 45:50too, so remember you will watch like a Disney show or whatever when you
- 45:53was young and the kid is like at the beach in a hoodie and you
- 45:58was like, what the fuck is he doing? Wear? You gotta be
- 46:01hot as fun because you're just thinking about Florida, right, you know what
- 46:05I mean. But then you go out to California and you see, like
- 46:08what it's like out west Yo. That weather it's just like if you've never
- 46:14been out there and you've never experienced it, that weather is perfect. Like
- 46:17you understand why it's expensive to live out there. Southern California is the probably
- 46:23the best climate on earth, right like sixty eight And just like Sonny so
- 46:30it's like cold but sunny. You can't even explain it, Yo, everything's
- 46:35room temp. We shot a video one time in La and after the video
- 46:40was done, I caught a tan, but I never sweated. Yeah,
- 46:45it was like a great way. I thought about it, and I'm like,
- 46:46I'm looking in the mirror. I'm like, dang, I got mad
- 46:50tan. That's a bar. Bro. Yo, it's crazy. It's crazy
- 46:52you out here. You step outside and you're instantly baking. Bro, It's
- 46:59like the worst. I don't even like getting dressed in the summer, you
- 47:00know what I mean, because like you don't even feel clean, like you
- 47:04can we wear a nice outfit in your sweating immediately when you walk outside of
- 47:07the stains and ship it's the worst. It's the worst. I think.
- 47:09I think that's a big reason why like the like people going out like discourages
- 47:16people. You know what I mean, because it does for me. Bro.
- 47:20If it's hitting, if that sun is hitting, Bro, I'm home.
- 47:22You know what I'm saying. I'm not trying to be out there and
- 47:25seven that humidity. Man, Like you ever seen that picture of the of
- 47:30the parking at the Orlando Airport. No, the pickup It's like a picture
- 47:37of the pickup of the Orlando Airport, and then the caption is I could
- 47:39feel this photo. You know what I'm saying. Whenever you come from another
- 47:44place, those doors open. Oh my gosh, bro, it feels like
- 47:49in the you know, in the in the movies, the Lan Airport,
- 47:52those doors open. Bro. You just feel like you open the oven doors,
- 47:54yo. For real. Feels like the movies where they're like in outer
- 47:58space and somebody opens the you know what I mean, that like destroys the
- 48:01atmosphere pressure or something like this. Exactly, well, guy, it burns
- 48:08a lot. Yeah, exactly. That was Oh my gosh that It's the
- 48:13worst, man, It's the worst. Fucking faint waiting on an uber yeah,
- 48:16facts, but yeah, man, I love Florida though, Yeah,
- 48:22for sure. Man. I've been to a lot of different places, and
- 48:25I feel like Florida. I Mean, everybody says everything they want about Florida,
- 48:30but at the end of the day, we just do whatever we want
- 48:32to do. Like, it doesn't get any better than that. Man.
- 48:37A lot of people talking ship on Florida, a lot of people moving to
- 48:40Florida facts, a lot of people vacation. Hey, we see those Instagram
- 48:45photos all right, talking shit about Florida Bro, then on a jet ski
- 48:51Yeah next week exactly. Oh, I think it's not that bad, is
- 48:54it? Loki? Hating? You know, hating bro take your ass back,
- 48:58especially like we were talking about in the getting with the people up north.
- 49:00Ain't no way. You know that you're pissed that you have to deal
- 49:05with that cold. Ain't no way anybody up there is just happy about it.
- 49:08Oh man, I'm in the pool on Christmas Day. What are you
- 49:10doing? Facts trying to dig your grandma out of the avalanche? Drinking vodka
- 49:16just so you can listen to your uncle. Oh man? Yo, So
- 49:22what do you got coming up as far as like shows, any projects that
- 49:25you got going on? And so I gotta get with you offline? Yes,
- 49:30sir? Talking about filming the Special, Yes, sir, I got
- 49:35the name for it. If I want to drop it yet, I don't
- 49:37want anyone to take it. It might be it's too the titles too cold,
- 49:40it's too cold. You might have to give it to me off air.
- 49:44Off air, Yeah, as soon as it goes off, I'll let
- 49:45you know. But yeah, I would love for you to shoot the special.
- 49:50Man or something. Yeah, man, I'm working. I mean I've
- 49:52been working with for years. Shout out my boy Freddie. Always shut him
- 49:54out of my podcast, and shout out my boy Johnny too. He's a
- 49:58super dope videographer. And I've just been trying to like kind of like you
- 50:01were saying, man, like trying to get a nice little team together so
- 50:06we can, Like I feel like there's so many dope people out here that
- 50:09just need a little help, Like we all do, you know what I'm
- 50:13saying, Like we all need like a little hand to spread the word a
- 50:16little more to elevate what we all doing. You know what you got.
- 50:20Everybody has to come together, man, it's gotta be full Justice League twenty
- 50:23twenty four. Bro. Yeah, me, Neid, Aquaman and Superman for
- 50:27real. Every time you hear any story about anybody coming up, bro,
- 50:30they always had those one, two, three people that were locked in with
- 50:34them that they all cultivated it together and everybody everybody ate off of it.
- 50:37You know what I mean, Bro, you need it's also your graduating class.
- 50:44Like if you notice, like a lot of you know, I hate
- 50:46to say the word, but like celebrities will come out at the same time.
- 50:50Yeah, it'll be like the same eight people pop within a year of
- 50:52each other, and it's like, oh, like they probably went to school
- 50:55together or and a lot of them, a lot of the actors did go
- 50:59to the same like Santa Monica High School. But just with anything is like
- 51:02you're here, you know, in this part of Florida. I'm I'm a
- 51:07little bit further away. But it's like, yeah, if we all meet
- 51:09downtown or we all you know, I come out here and I do an
- 51:12episode with you every now and then, it's like everybody's got a rise together.
- 51:15Yep. And that's the thing like if I'm if I'm a fan of
- 51:20you, you're a fan of me. Like the people that like our ship
- 51:22are gonna like each Other's just off principle, bro, Because like any when
- 51:27I meet that's friends with Jari, I'm like instantly, you know what I
- 51:30mean, It's just that's the immediate vib is like, yeah, a friend
- 51:35of a friend of Jory's a friend of mine. Yeah, fact, you
- 51:37know, so it's uh, it's just cool. I don't know why.
- 51:40I imagine you saying that with like a pint in like an old Irish club
- 51:45b. Yeah, say what you want Bro, that might be the worst
- 51:52time to live in history medieval times, but just to shake someone's hand like
- 51:54that would be worth it. Dog, is so funny. Like me and
- 51:58my wife was talking about that the other day because I'm like, I was
- 52:00saying the same exact thing. I'm like, Bro, this time is terrible.
- 52:05Bro. Like people, you always got to worry about somebody trying to
- 52:08take over your village, you know what i mean. Like you got a
- 52:12king that like he just whatever, whatever vibe he's feeling that day is however
- 52:16he's gonna do. Things might pop off yo, crazy like and then it's
- 52:21like you might come to your castle brow thousand deep. Then you got that
- 52:24like noble class that like you cannot look at them sideways at all, bro,
- 52:30Because it's like, Bro, like a cock pools you over. You
- 52:31could kind of get away with saying some slick shit, you know what i
- 52:35mean, Like you could be pissed off about it. But back in the
- 52:37day, Bro, a night going by, you know what I'm saying.
- 52:40You you know, look at him and say, oh, puppy cuck,
- 52:44he's taking your head off, bro, Like you're not surviving that just discarded
- 52:47you facts like you heard about like how they used to like quarter people.
- 52:52Oh yeah, bro, it's yo. Like for people that don't know,
- 52:57quartering is literally what it sounds like. They cut your body in quarters.
- 53:00Oh they break you down like a QP. Crazy bro crazy, Like who
- 53:08just thought about that? Like, bro, you people were like I have
- 53:13a whole thing about this. Like people were like, oh, it's a
- 53:15scary time now, and I'm like, bro, back then, you were
- 53:17just like, oh, I'm gonna go take a piss and like as your
- 53:22painted issue, like and then you go back over the hill and they're like
- 53:27all your family's are on a stick. Yeah, bro, And you're like,
- 53:30damn, bro. It's funny because I had a similar thing about like
- 53:34like the World War two times, you know what I mean, Like people
- 53:37like exactly what you said. Like people now be like, oh man,
- 53:39I hate for kids to grow up now. I'm like, bro, imagine
- 53:43you were a kid when they was just like drafting people like nah, you
- 53:46going to war and people was just dying left and right. It was like
- 53:50a famine because you know, there was no money like in the country.
- 53:53Yeah, like little kids are going to work at factories and stuff. It's
- 53:58like, come on, man, you up that what's going on right now.
- 54:00They would have kids back then just to have extra, just to have
- 54:05income, just to have help. Bro. Like, oh we got Timmy
- 54:07in the coal mine. Yo, it's crazy this first day in the mind
- 54:10he's for they're just literally having kids, just like salivating waiting for him to
- 54:15be able to do some work. Bro, I think we should put these
- 54:19Fortnite kids in the coal mines. Bro. Yo, you think they'll just
- 54:22be doing a little dance like shit. But nah, I definitely agree,
- 54:30Like, I don't. I don't think that we're in like that crazy times.
- 54:34Like everybody's just saying crazy shit, you know what I mean, Like,
- 54:37like, look here's the thing, bro, people people people say we
- 54:40live in a scary time, as if they're on the Gaza Strip. You
- 54:45know that's a scary time. Like, let's be real, yeah, fact
- 54:47we're chilling here though. Okay, yeah, we got a lot of shit
- 54:52we need to work on. I got that, But I don't have to
- 54:54worry about getting hit with a fucking missile. Facts. You know, it's
- 55:00all about that perspective man, like, like and even like you know,
- 55:05so many people comment on like different situations and stuff, and it's like,
- 55:08bro, at the end of the day, you're chilling, So your opinion,
- 55:14I almost feel like you're their opinion is not even valid because it's like
- 55:16you're not even there. You don't understand what's going on. You're you're not
- 55:20living it, you're not seeing anything firsthand, you're not talking to people that
- 55:22are experiencing it. Like it's like, you know, everybody obviously can have
- 55:27their opinion, but at the end of the day, like we don't understand
- 55:30that, you know what I mean, Like we we literally have no clue.
- 55:32Like you saw a clip on Instagram and you're like, oh, yeah,
- 55:36exactly, it's a dark time. Then you go get a salad that
- 55:39fucking olive garden. Yeah, nah, man, that's exactly how it'd be.
- 55:45But yeah, man, it was dope having you on for sure.
- 55:47Absolutely, Like you said, Man, we're definitely gonna get in some more
- 55:52some more content, some more stuff this year. You know, we've been
- 55:55talking about on the podcast, like it's Me, my boy Joe, my
- 55:58boy Quincy, and we've all just been talking about, you know, taking
- 56:01everything to the next level, just from the point of view of really really
- 56:07like locking in with like the community, really locking in with people as far
- 56:13as like just spreading the word and just you know, put an account content
- 56:17out there in a more physical way, you know what I mean, Because
- 56:20it's kind of like we were talking about with the pandemic and stuff, everything
- 56:22kind of went digital. It was all content and everything. But it's like
- 56:24I feel like now like people want that real people want to see you in
- 56:29the flesh man exactly. You know, It's it's a different experience. Like
- 56:34you know, people see comedy clips online and like all that guy's not funny,
- 56:37and it's like I bet if you went to see him live, you'd
- 56:39be peeing yourself the same joke. It'd be the same joke you see on
- 56:44the TikTok if you was there and caught the vibes the energy. Bro,
- 56:45We're not supposed to consume live art through a through a seven inch screen or
- 56:52whatever it is, you know, even a TV screen. It's not the
- 56:55same effect. Yeah, fact completely different, Bro. I always think about,
- 57:00like you saying that makes me think of Donnelle Rawlins, Like I saw
- 57:04him at the Improval one time, and I always heard how Dave Chappelle says
- 57:07that, like it's he's the best stand up that he's seen. Bro.
- 57:10When I was, I was just floored with how funny it was, you
- 57:15know what I mean. And it's kind of like you said, sometimes it
- 57:17just don't translate to TV the same way. He's always been funny, you
- 57:21know what I'm saying. But seeing him live, bro, And I've seen
- 57:23a lot of comedians live, you know what I'm saying. Like, and
- 57:27I mean I've seen d L Hugly freaking Charlie Murphy before he passed, Eddie
- 57:31Griffin, Sedgri Danna Tainer. You're like, You're like, you're like a
- 57:37true appreciator of Yeah, I love I love comedy, Bro, I love
- 57:39comedy, and I really like comedians and cars, you know what I mean.
- 57:45I always catch that I love that show. But yeah, and Donelle
- 57:49Rollins was just one that I was like, dangn bro, this was so
- 57:52freaking funny, Like he really is like one of the funniest stand ups I've
- 57:55ever seen. Like, and that's the thing, Bro, the people that
- 57:59people that truly work on the craft and aren't making the sketches and the little
- 58:04like memes and shit, like you go see them live, You're like,
- 58:07oh, that's where they've been putting the work in but sometimes the real,
- 58:13true raw work doesn't get rewarded, so you got to play the game of
- 58:15like, you know, like I'm not a big fan of the Florida Man
- 58:20interview. Yeah, I think some of them are funny, but it's not
- 58:22what I want to do now. I feel that because there's always that little
- 58:25dance between like stuff that you know works and the stuff that you really want
- 58:30to do and kind of find like a balance, and especially with music,
- 58:35like music is very like there's a specific formula if you want to be successful
- 58:38in a certain way that you can follow that formula and it's almost not a
- 58:43guarantee, because nothing's a guarantee, but it's almost like if you work hard
- 58:46at it and do it, you can get in that lane, you know
- 58:50what I mean. And it's like kind of navigating where like, Okay,
- 58:52where do I fit in? Though, you know what I mean. I
- 58:55feel like it's the Florida Man interviews are like artist puts out like a single,
- 59:00like a radio single, and it's not what they really want to do,
- 59:04but it's catchy and it gets ten million eyes to their album. Yeah,
- 59:08and then people, you know, a million of those ten million go
- 59:12wow, I actually like the rest of their catalog. I didn't know they
- 59:15had ten albums yep before and then that one song makes the whole catalog,
- 59:21you know, worth it. It's kind of like something I heard Mac Miller
- 59:24say, and we'll kind of start wrapping up with this is like he he
- 59:29would say, you got to give him that. You got to give that
- 59:32first album for like basically for the record label, which would basically what he's
- 59:37saying by that is like, you got to give the people what they want
- 59:43so that you can give them what you want, you know what I mean.
- 59:45That's the hardest thing to need, bro, And it's like you got
- 59:47to It's kind of like an exchange. It's like, hey, all right,
- 59:50I'm giving you the content that you want from me. Here it is.
- 59:52But now this is what I'm coming with next. Hopefully you've gained enough
- 59:59trust in the fan is that they're gonna give that thing a chance, you
- 1:00:01know what I mean. And it's that little dance. It's that one for
- 1:00:04you, one for me exactly exactly. I feel like, yeah, three
- 1:00:07million people see the Florida Man video. The next video they watches my stand
- 1:00:12up and they go, oh, this guy has more than just a character.
- 1:00:16He can actually go up there with just a mic and do his thing.
- 1:00:20Yeah, and if that's the billboard or the ad quote unquote to get
- 1:00:23him to come see me live, then we'll do that, bro, Because
- 1:00:27if as long as it's making people laugh, that's my goal. Yeah,
- 1:00:30even if it's something that I'm not a big fan of. And everybody,
- 1:00:34everybody make sure they tap in with Sean too, man, cause I don't
- 1:00:37know if we were talking about on the show or off air before, but
- 1:00:38like, the comedy scene in Orlando is just like, Bro, there's so
- 1:00:44many shows going on that are so funny. A lot of people that no
- 1:00:49me, no Jari too, So it's like they know that he's doing his
- 1:00:51thing, but it's like, bro, like y'all got to actually come out
- 1:00:53and see these shows, you know what I mean, because it's a vibe.
- 1:00:55Yeah. Man, if you haven't seen me live, man, I've
- 1:01:00been really working. I feel like I'm happy with where I'm at. Obviously
- 1:01:02I want to keep growing, but yeah, man, guys like Jarry shout
- 1:01:07out Cam Patterson, Man, I'm gonna be out in California. Nice.
- 1:01:09Nice. He's got me on some of his summer tour, so I'm grateful

- 1:04:33like I couldn't record or I would have to wait in between their clips,
- 1:04:36you know, remember between their takes, you know. And they were like
- 1:04:40a heavy heavy metal band, you know, I mean the sound proof so
