- 0:04Speaker 1: How many finals of Champagne have you used here today?
- 0:08Speaker 1: Kill Hello Sago. Probably more than ten.
- 0:23Speaker 2: And I learned that with champagne, instead of drinking it, you.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Should absorb it with your skin.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It feels better.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Yell me, I mean shout out to show to in Mianaga,
- 0:42Speaker 4: his translator, and Taylor McGregor, who has the best laugh
- 0:45Speaker 4: in all of baseball. T mac Congratulations to the Chicago
- 0:49Speaker 4: Cubs clinching a post season birth. Of course, in the
- 0:53Speaker 4: twenty twenty five season, this has been a team, guys
- 0:57Speaker 4: that I wasn't sure how they were gonna fare in
- 0:59Speaker 4: the NL Central. Obviously the Brewers win the division, but
- 1:02Speaker 4: the Cubs have been very strong all year long. AJ
- 1:04Speaker 4: will start with you, being a South Sider, what do
- 1:07Speaker 4: you like about what the North Siders did this year?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Do I have to answer this? They're in. They're in, buddy,
- 1:14Speaker 3: They're in.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Gotta give them their flowers, their props, you will.
- 1:20Speaker 1: You know what?
- 1:20Speaker 5: They've been good all year. Their offense has been really
- 1:22Speaker 5: fun to watch. The pitching is what it is. But
- 1:25Speaker 5: I love Palencia before he got hurt. I think of
- 1:28Speaker 5: in Auga is amazing to watch and listen. If there's
- 1:31Speaker 5: one advice I could give to a young player. What
- 1:33Speaker 5: he said is amazing. There are many times where I
- 1:35Speaker 5: got to celebrate. I wish I just would have enjoyed
- 1:38Speaker 5: the champagne on my ski in and not drink it,
- 1:41Speaker 5: because the next day was hell.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Nah seeing Kirs says, you don't work goggles, you gotta
- 1:46Speaker 4: let it burn, let it barn dance. And there is
- 1:52Speaker 4: Chicago Cubs shortstop dans By Swanson, some of the best
- 1:56Speaker 4: flow in the game, certainly the best beard in the game,
- 1:58Speaker 4: if you will, and a Chicago postseason berth under his belt. Danzy,
- 2:03Speaker 4: thanks for being with us.
- 2:04Speaker 3: We appreciate it.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Congratulations.
- 2:06Speaker 3: This has been a fun Cubs team to watch.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Take us through the moment of the final out and
- 2:11Speaker 4: just celebrating with your teammates. I know that the work
- 2:14Speaker 4: is not done, but that's got to be one box
- 2:16Speaker 4: you're happy to check.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, obviously, thanks for having me on. Glad to be here. Yeah,
- 2:23Speaker 2: I mean, it's it really is such a cool moment.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You obviously know that this isn't necessarily the end goal
- 2:31Speaker 2: for the season, but it is definitely a big step
- 2:34Speaker 2: and part of the process to achieving all you want
- 2:37Speaker 2: to achieve. I mean, This is something that you talk
- 2:38Speaker 2: about in spring training, being able to get into the
- 2:41Speaker 2: postseason and give yourself the chance, you know, to win
- 2:43Speaker 2: the World Series. So it was really fun being able
- 2:46Speaker 2: to celebrate with the guys. We put in obviously so
- 2:49Speaker 2: much work this season and been a part of all
- 2:53Speaker 2: the different, you know, struggles throughout a year, the highs,
- 2:56Speaker 2: the lows, all those kinds of things to get to
- 2:58Speaker 2: this point. So, you know, it's pretty it's a pretty
- 3:02Speaker 2: special group of guys and very thankful to be a
- 3:04Speaker 2: part of it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Did you celebrate like you should have celebrated because all
- 3:09Speaker 1: the hard work, all the different things all guys have
- 3:12Speaker 1: been out, come back, still out, whatever it is, Did
- 3:15Speaker 1: you guys celebrate hard or is it something that you
- 3:19Speaker 1: know we still got a game tomorrow. It's kind of
- 3:21Speaker 1: a tempered celebration. How how did your clubhouse celebrate it?
- 3:27Speaker 2: I'd say somewhere in the middle. You celebrate at the
- 3:32Speaker 2: field hard in terms of spring champagne and doing those
- 3:37Speaker 2: kinds of things, but not so hard afterward because we
- 3:41Speaker 2: do have a game today and there's a lot more
- 3:43Speaker 2: things that we obviously want to accomplish, And I really
- 3:47Speaker 2: feel like a big part of our team is getting
- 3:51Speaker 2: back into the rhythm that we had earlier in the year,
- 3:53Speaker 2: and I feel like recently we've been getting closer to
- 3:56Speaker 2: that point, and so you want to be able to
- 3:58Speaker 2: keep that same momentum moving forward and that we're obviously
- 4:03Speaker 2: not trying to take, you know, any steps backwards.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Was there any one person, because your season you're like,
- 4:09Speaker 1: well whatever, I know what a World Series champagne tastes like.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Was there anybody And I asked this of the Phillies
- 4:15Speaker 1: just the other day after they had celebrated that really
- 4:18Speaker 1: like celebrated. I'm not saying like got super drunk. I'm
- 4:21Speaker 1: talking about was like wow, like really soaking this in
- 4:24Speaker 1: and telling everybody this is so awesome. More than somebody else, you.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Know, I will say, it was just really cool seeing
- 4:33Speaker 2: you know whatever, staff members or people that haven't had
- 4:36Speaker 2: this kind of opportunity, whether it's in their career just
- 4:39Speaker 2: in a while. And I think the biggest thing to
- 4:41Speaker 2: kind of just hit me yesterday was not taking any
- 4:45Speaker 2: of it for granted, right, Like, this game is incredibly hard,
- 4:48Speaker 2: this game comes for everybody, and being able to just
- 4:51Speaker 2: enjoy and soak up the moment when you get them
- 4:53Speaker 2: because getting to the postseason is obviously a huge challenge,
- 4:57Speaker 2: and it's not something that just every single time. Now,
- 5:01Speaker 2: obviously we want it to and we feel like, you know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: you feel like as a player that you always have
- 5:07Speaker 2: a chance to win at the highest level, and sometimes
- 5:11Speaker 2: things just don't fall your way. And I think that
- 5:14Speaker 2: we as a team yesterday just kind of realized like
- 5:17Speaker 2: we should never take any of this for granted and
- 5:18Speaker 2: just continue to pursue what's in front of us.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Dansby, do you have fans around Wrigley offering Kyle Tucker
- 5:27Speaker 4: the use of their calf. How do we get Kyle
- 5:29Speaker 4: Tucker back in that lineup? I know it's a huge
- 5:32Speaker 4: void on the impact he has on this team, but
- 5:34Speaker 4: let's get this guy healthy, right. The Cubs can go
- 5:36Speaker 4: so much further when you have that guy healthy and
- 5:39Speaker 4: back on the squad.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, he's obviously proven, you know, throughout his
- 5:44Speaker 2: career that he's a top player in this game. Just
- 5:48Speaker 2: is that bats are so consistent, His ability to draw walks,
- 5:51Speaker 2: put the ball in play, drive the ball in the air,
- 5:55Speaker 2: He just assuming things well. He obviously plays a really
- 5:57Speaker 2: good right field, runs a base as well. Makes our
- 6:01Speaker 2: team better makes our team deeper and just provides that
- 6:05Speaker 2: kind of like stable at that each and every day,
- 6:08Speaker 2: you know, whenever he's in the lineup. So, uh, you know,
- 6:11Speaker 2: we're we're definitely anticipating on getting him back. I don't
- 6:14Speaker 2: know when exactly that's going to be, but I know
- 6:17Speaker 2: that he makes our team better.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Dansby, does your phone work? Is your phone does? Yeah?
- 6:25Speaker 5: Because I swear you told me to text you to
- 6:27Speaker 5: come on and I didn't get even I didn't even
- 6:29Speaker 5: get an f off like that would have been happy
- 6:31Speaker 5: with an f off, but you know, instead I got
- 6:34Speaker 5: a crick got it. I didn't even get a cricket
- 6:37Speaker 5: like I could have.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You want to know something that's funny, Join are lot
- 6:41Speaker 2: of our PR people. She was like, yeah, they texted
- 6:44Speaker 2: me about you getting on the show, and I literally said, yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 2: I really meant to text AJ back about Pittsburgh was
- 6:52Speaker 2: going to be impossible, but Cincinnati would be good. And
- 6:56Speaker 2: I said, please please let him know that that is
- 6:58Speaker 2: where my brain is at, because I know that when
- 7:01Speaker 2: I get on this show, he's going to bring it up.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Well.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Also, it's a lucky day. I'm in Cincinnati, you're at
- 7:08Speaker 5: the hotel. I'm at the ballpark. Something's wrong with this
- 7:11Speaker 5: picture here, right. You should be here working out. I
- 7:13Speaker 5: should still be at the hotel. But you could have
- 7:16Speaker 5: just come on live with us. You could have sat
- 7:17Speaker 5: next to me. There's a chair I could have pulled up,
- 7:19Speaker 5: you know, you could have had your cubby blue on
- 7:21Speaker 5: and we could have talked about this in person.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the game is still in six hours, okay, we
- 7:25Speaker 2: still got a little bit of time. Got a little
- 7:27Speaker 2: bit of time.
- 7:30Speaker 5: I figured you'd have to work. You had to work
- 7:32Speaker 5: out the champagne, all right. But what I really want
- 7:34Speaker 5: to know is PCA. What's going on with PCA. PCA
- 7:37Speaker 5: had an unbelievable first half, gone a little bit up
- 7:40Speaker 5: and down here in the second half. Can he turn
- 7:42Speaker 5: this around and be the force that he can be
- 7:43Speaker 5: that we've seen him?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Uh? Yeah, I mean, well, as you know, I mean,
- 7:49Speaker 2: there are times and moments where this game just can
- 7:53Speaker 2: almost feel easy. To some extent, everything seems to go right.
- 7:57Speaker 2: You're just in a very confident headspace. And Pete was
- 8:02Speaker 2: such a driving force of our team in the first half.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I think just the beauty of the game of baseball
- 8:08Speaker 2: is it presents so many challenges and opportunities throughout a
- 8:12Speaker 2: one sixty two that you're you're bound to go through
- 8:17Speaker 2: moments where you're not as good as that you want
- 8:19Speaker 2: to be. And you know, especially as a young kid
- 8:23Speaker 2: with all the talent the world, guy like Pete, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 2: goes through something like that, and it's it's a really
- 8:28Speaker 2: good opportunity for him to like learn how to come
- 8:31Speaker 2: out of those or how to come out of that
- 8:34Speaker 2: kind of funk. And you know, if you look at
- 8:36Speaker 2: his A bats over the last three or four games,
- 8:39Speaker 2: they've been really, really good. Been hitting the ball hard
- 8:43Speaker 2: and hit the ball on the gap and putting together
- 8:46Speaker 2: just solid at bats of people on bas So definitely
- 8:49Speaker 2: think he's on his way out of whatever funk he
- 8:52Speaker 2: was in because you know, he's a special player, he's
- 8:54Speaker 2: a special talent, and he makes our team a lot better.
- 8:58Speaker 1: When do you see somebody that's super energetic and I
- 9:00Speaker 1: have no idea what he's like in the clubhouse, how
- 9:04Speaker 1: did he handle those ups and downs? Because it's part
- 9:07Speaker 1: of the reason why some guys in baseball are like, yeah,
- 9:11Speaker 1: everything's fine, and I'm not going to show any emotion
- 9:13Speaker 1: because when things are good, it's great. When things are bad,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I look the same. He's not. He didn't seem like that.
- 9:19Speaker 1: He seems like he is like, go get it, hit
- 9:22Speaker 1: the wall whenever he needs to. But when things go bad,
- 9:26Speaker 1: how what type of level of energy did you see
- 9:29Speaker 1: from him?
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah? I think the one thing I've tried to just
- 9:33Speaker 2: remind him on is, you know, one of his superpowers
- 9:36Speaker 2: is his passion and love for the game, and just
- 9:40Speaker 2: to continue to remind him, regardless of whether things are
- 9:43Speaker 2: good or bad, that you can still impact the game
- 9:45Speaker 2: in different ways. Like you can if you're not hitting,
- 9:48Speaker 2: you can still go catch the ball. If you're on base,
- 9:51Speaker 2: you know, you can still run the base as well,
- 9:53Speaker 2: you can still run the bass hard. You can help
- 9:55Speaker 2: impact the team's performance without just hitting. And you know,
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's one of the reasons why he's the way he
- 10:03Speaker 2: is and the way that he impacts your team, because
- 10:06Speaker 2: he can go get it in centainfield just as good.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It's not better than anybody else in the league. He's
- 10:11Speaker 2: obviously got really good instincts on the bases and has
- 10:15Speaker 2: stolen a lot of bases for us. So, you know,
- 10:17Speaker 2: my biggest reminder for him and just really any young player,
- 10:21Speaker 2: any player in general, is the more that you can
- 10:24Speaker 2: kind of bring your unique superpower to the table. The
- 10:27Speaker 2: better off will be as a group and will ultimately
- 10:29Speaker 2: help us win games. Crats.
- 10:33Speaker 6: I'm gonna steal a line right from the top here
- 10:35Speaker 6: about me Undies a cut for every butt. I took
- 10:40Speaker 6: a line that I feel like you would enjoy, but
- 10:42Speaker 6: then you stole my thunder with show and tell. What
- 10:45Speaker 6: do you have there.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Besides a huge Baduka dunk. This is my pair of
- 10:51Speaker 1: me Undies that I got. I'm not going to show
- 10:53Speaker 1: you the other pair right now because I got him on,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but it doesn't even feel like you have him on
- 10:58Speaker 1: super soft fla flexible and yet holding everything together.
- 11:03Speaker 6: I love the twenty different styles, one hundred different colors
- 11:06Speaker 6: and prints, and the micro modal fabric is what you're
- 11:10Speaker 6: talking about. Breathable, stretchy, unbelievably cozy and right now, as
- 11:15Speaker 6: a listener of FT, you can get cozy and spooky
- 11:18Speaker 6: for less with deals up to fifty percent off at
- 11:21Speaker 6: meundies dot com slash foul and enter promo code foul.
- 11:24Speaker 6: That's me undies dot com slash foul. Promo code foul
- 11:27Speaker 6: for up to fifty percent off me Undie's Comfort that's
- 11:31Speaker 6: made for fall.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Dan's be congratulations to you and your beautiful wife Mallorie
- 11:36Speaker 4: on the announcement that you guys are expecting your first child.
- 11:38Speaker 3: That's so awesome.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Obviously a power couple in sports, but certainly in the
- 11:43Speaker 4: Chicago area. If your beautiful child only gets to have
- 11:46Speaker 4: the athletic prowess of one of the parents, who do
- 11:50Speaker 4: you want?
- 11:52Speaker 2: Uh, I'm gonna well, I mean, of course, I'm gonna
- 11:54Speaker 2: say my wife's if.
- 11:56Speaker 4: You want to stay married er er.
- 12:00Speaker 2: She just she's got something just special about her as
- 12:05Speaker 2: as an athlete. You know, we it's finny. We kind
- 12:07Speaker 2: of talk about it. You can you can watch people
- 12:10Speaker 2: play and tell if they kind of have it. And
- 12:13Speaker 2: she's just one of the rare breeds of athletes that
- 12:16Speaker 2: just has it. Just her competitive instinct, her fire to win,
- 12:21Speaker 2: her commitment, determination, along with the athletic ability is is
- 12:27Speaker 2: pretty incredible to watch. So if if our baby can
- 12:33Speaker 2: get a little bit of that, then we'll be in
- 12:34Speaker 2: good shape.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Name three sports that she can beat you in and
- 12:39Speaker 1: three sports that you can beat her in? Obvious obvious
- 12:43Speaker 1: ones can be used.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Well, we can start with soccer. We're going to start
- 12:47Speaker 2: with that. Any bit of conditioning that's like over maybe
- 12:53Speaker 2: like one hundred meters, you know, any bit of like
- 12:57Speaker 2: running event that involves a little bit of you know, endurance.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I would say she's got me on past that, though, Man,
- 13:09Speaker 2: I don't know. I got a pretty good athletic you know,
- 13:12Speaker 2: skill set as well. Over here, Okay, got a pretty
- 13:15Speaker 2: good jump shot, good ping pong player, you know you
- 13:19Speaker 2: can do. You know, I'm very multifaceted, shall we say, uh,
- 13:25Speaker 2: with sports, So I'll give her those, But past that,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I mean, I will say, this isn't really a sport,
- 13:32Speaker 2: but our household gets after it with uno and she
- 13:37Speaker 2: typically beats me more often, you know, than I beat her.
- 13:40Speaker 4: She's making you draw four like on top of each other.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, she's got she's got some good strategies.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That's a sport. No, that's all. That's all part of
- 13:50Speaker 1: the competitive Like I hope you're attracted to each other
- 13:53Speaker 1: because of your competitiveness, because that plays like there's I
- 13:58Speaker 1: bet there's so you could take her in a sprint, though,
- 14:00Speaker 1: but after one hundred yards, she's got.
- 14:02Speaker 2: You one hundred. Like the longer it goes, the less
- 14:07Speaker 2: my chances are that I'm going to continue to hold on.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, falling falling behind? All right, well somebody that's not
- 14:13Speaker 1: falling behind Kate Horton. Does Kate and Horton win the
- 14:19Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year or how do you tell? How
- 14:22Speaker 1: do you sway people's votes that maybe don't see Kate
- 14:26Speaker 1: Horton on a regular regular basis?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Well, Number one, I think being able to truly like
- 14:35Speaker 2: anchor a rotation as a rookie is incredibly impressive. And
- 14:39Speaker 2: to do it on a team in a second half
- 14:42Speaker 2: when you're most needed, you know, I think he has
- 14:46Speaker 2: the lowest cra among starting amongst any starting pitcher in
- 14:49Speaker 2: the second half. Uh, and being able to consistently rely
- 14:53Speaker 2: on somebody of you know, rookie status to go out
- 14:56Speaker 2: there and basically shove is incredibly impressive. I know there's
- 15:01Speaker 2: some other guys that have had some really good years,
- 15:03Speaker 2: but for him to do it on a on a
- 15:06Speaker 2: team that's excuse me, on a team that's going to
- 15:10Speaker 2: the postseason, and being that consistent force and the way
- 15:14Speaker 2: that he is is I think really all you need
- 15:17Speaker 2: to know it's it's not fully just about oh, he's
- 15:21Speaker 2: not punching out this many per nine. He doesn't want guys.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Guys don't seem to hit him hard. He gets quick outs.
- 15:29Speaker 2: He makes our team better. He's got this like competitive
- 15:33Speaker 2: just I'm here to handle business that not many guys have. Yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 2: I mean he would have my vote if I have
- 15:44Speaker 2: a vote, And you know, I think it's as simple
- 15:47Speaker 2: as that.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Hey, Dansby, what's it like playing with Shoda every day?
- 15:56Speaker 5: I mean that guy's interview last night was awesome where
- 16:00Speaker 5: he said champagne is better on your skin than it
- 16:02Speaker 5: is in your mouth, and it makes your skin feel better.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I mean, he just says things.
- 16:06Speaker 5: Every time he put a mic in front of him,
- 16:07Speaker 5: he says something that is absolutely hilarious. What's it like
- 16:10Speaker 5: being around a guy like that every day?
- 16:13Speaker 2: Oh Man? Show does the best. He's got such like
- 16:16Speaker 2: a clever, witty way about him. But I think just
- 16:21Speaker 2: from a from actual baseball perspective, he's he's such a
- 16:26Speaker 2: joy to watch because he just does a couple of
- 16:29Speaker 2: things really well, knows what he does really well and
- 16:33Speaker 2: basically just kind of goes up there and alt does
- 16:35Speaker 2: it from what everyone else is trying to, you know,
- 16:39Speaker 2: counter him with, and he's got you just can rely on.
- 16:44Speaker 2: He works hard, he wants to be involved. He does
- 16:49Speaker 2: like to trash talk from the dugout, which is awesome.
- 16:53Speaker 2: He likes, you know, chirping and and kind of ask
- 16:55Speaker 2: some of the other starting pictures about some good you know,
- 16:59Speaker 2: trashed so you can get from the dugout. So he's
- 17:02Speaker 2: always bringing a little bit of something for you each
- 17:04Speaker 2: and every day. And me and him got to know
- 17:07Speaker 2: each other a little bit last year and obviously more
- 17:11Speaker 2: so this year. But he's always got good jokes that
- 17:15Speaker 2: he's always just kind of got some up asleep.
- 17:18Speaker 4: It almost feels Dansby like he's like a college teammate
- 17:21Speaker 4: of yours. He just seems to have like that playfulness
- 17:23Speaker 4: about you. What was it like when you were at Vanderbilt?
- 17:27Speaker 4: One of our colleagues here Unfelt Territory justin Long wants
- 17:30Speaker 4: to know a little bit more about your Vanderbilt career.
- 17:33Speaker 4: And do you you look back at that now and
- 17:36Speaker 4: see how much more you can appreciate that time in
- 17:39Speaker 4: your life because not everybody goes that route. Are you
- 17:41Speaker 4: glad that you did?
- 17:42Speaker 2: Oh? I mean, it's probably second or third best decision
- 17:51Speaker 2: in my life. And one is obviously after convincing Mallorie
- 17:55Speaker 2: to marry me. Was that just it really really molded
- 18:00Speaker 2: me into the player and person I am now. I
- 18:05Speaker 2: feel like I had a lot of kind of just
- 18:07Speaker 2: like natural gifts, but once going there, CORPS just brought
- 18:12Speaker 2: out all the best in me and just taught me
- 18:14Speaker 2: so many different valuable lessons about leadership, about being a
- 18:19Speaker 2: good teammate, and just how to play the game the
- 18:21Speaker 2: right way and some of the things that already somewhat knew,
- 18:25Speaker 2: but he was able to just kind of sculpt and
- 18:28Speaker 2: mold me to be a better version of that. The
- 18:31Speaker 2: amount of guys that played with their just the brotherhood
- 18:34Speaker 2: that you create with one another is real, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 2: it truly is something that lasts a lifetime. And I
- 18:42Speaker 2: think it's just pretty evident in how people continuously rep
- 18:47Speaker 2: Vanderbilt that you know, I've never heard anyone that's gone
- 18:51Speaker 2: there say anything bad about their experience. There really is
- 18:55Speaker 2: more than just baseball. It's about growing, you know, these
- 18:59Speaker 2: these college kids in demand and CORPS it is the best.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Out of it.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I wouldn't I legitimately would not be where I am
- 19:06Speaker 2: today without Corpse in the program. And you know, the
- 19:10Speaker 2: other coaches, Coach Jewett, Coach Brown just it truly is
- 19:16Speaker 2: the best place in the world.
- 19:19Speaker 1: All right, where does this rank? We talked about the team,
- 19:21Speaker 1: we talked about other guys on your team, your wife.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Where does this season rank for you? In the sense
- 19:28Speaker 1: I get it, you guys won the World Series, so
- 19:30Speaker 1: you don't know where this season is going to go.
- 19:32Speaker 1: But as far as just your playing, how well you're playing,
- 19:37Speaker 1: the way things are going for you, and just the
- 19:39Speaker 1: way you feel coming to the ballpark every day.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Man, it's it really is difficult to rank teams and
- 19:51Speaker 2: seasons because they're all so drastically different. And even if
- 19:54Speaker 2: you have I think that's the beauty about sports is
- 19:58Speaker 2: you can have the exact same team year to year,
- 20:01Speaker 2: but the vibe and the environment is a little bit different.
- 20:04Speaker 2: You have to kind of recreate, you know, different standards
- 20:08Speaker 2: and culture to be able to get the most out
- 20:10Speaker 2: of a group. So I don't rank them. I will
- 20:14Speaker 2: refuse to rank them. But I very much enjoy winning.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I always have, and so anytime a team I'm part
- 20:21Speaker 2: of is winning at a high level, I'm pretty happy. Here.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Let you go, first of all, should diego Pavia? Let
- 20:30Speaker 5: diovonn go on a date with his mom?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Hey, the boys are playing some good ball down there,
- 20:38Speaker 2: all right, So whatever kind of stuff they got working,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I'm good with it.
- 20:44Speaker 5: So Yesovon should be able to go on a date.
- 20:48Speaker 5: Oh look at you.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Wow.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Always it's okay. So now's so now. So now I
- 20:53Speaker 5: want people to know how much you've changed. Okay, because
- 20:55Speaker 5: when I played with you in twenty sixteen, you know,
- 20:57Speaker 5: you were the resh hot rookie coming out up here,
- 21:00Speaker 5: this and that and didn't speak. Now you're giving guys
- 21:02Speaker 5: lessons PCA on how to stay the right course and
- 21:06Speaker 5: all this. You know, it's just amazing how people change
- 21:08Speaker 5: over time. But here's the thing I have. If your
- 21:12Speaker 5: last game ends the way my last game ends, and
- 21:15Speaker 5: there's a young rookie on second base that doesn't score
- 21:18Speaker 5: on a hit that they should score on and I
- 21:20Speaker 5: could have had my Derek Jeter moment, would you still
- 21:23Speaker 5: be mad at him?
- 21:26Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing. Say, look, this is good base running. Now,
- 21:31Speaker 2: that's great base running, So you can't.
- 21:34Speaker 3: You could have scored so easy. Look you barely made
- 21:36Speaker 3: it to third. Look what are you doing?
- 21:39Speaker 2: Go back first? Brother? If he catches that and I'm
- 21:41Speaker 2: going to third and I get him free out, it's
- 21:44Speaker 2: everybody there, and I'm just not just mine. You look,
- 21:48Speaker 2: I'm celebrating.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I like, it's my Derek Jeter moment. What are you doing?
- 21:54Speaker 3: Even snit's over there going.
- 21:55Speaker 5: That's why we let him go in free agency because
- 21:58Speaker 5: he didn't score on that hit from Prazinski.
- 22:03Speaker 2: You're always going to hold that one over my head.
- 22:05Speaker 2: But I would be proud.
- 22:07Speaker 3: It's all I got, It's all I got it.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I'd be proud of a young player knowing how to
- 22:12Speaker 2: run the bases properly. You know, the fundamentals, playing the
- 22:15Speaker 2: game the right way. That's that's the most important thing.
- 22:17Speaker 2: And so that's the part.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Taught you that didn't he yeah, oh yeah, another guy's moment.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I see I see.
- 22:26Speaker 2: No, no, no, it's about it's about the team.
- 22:30Speaker 5: See exactly that we were losing a hundred games.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Not in that case, it was all It was clearly
- 22:36Speaker 1: all about age. It was clearly all about a J
- 22:41Speaker 1: and that was great base running for kids who watched it.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Don't be don't be an AJ in this situation. Be
- 22:48Speaker 1: a dance. The balls in front of you, you can't go,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and it's not freezing the line. Drive you go back
- 22:53Speaker 1: on the line, driving it's not about you looking like
- 22:57Speaker 1: looking like Jose rayis running around the base.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Is like, look at me. It's all about me. Who
- 23:03Speaker 3: was my last game and I last a bat and
- 23:05Speaker 3: I knew it.
- 23:06Speaker 5: So anyways, I appreciate dansyfore the fact that he got
- 23:09Speaker 5: to third on that ball and didn't get thrown out,
- 23:11Speaker 5: and also the fact that, uh yeah, that's all I
- 23:14Speaker 5: got on him because I don't know. He was a
- 23:16Speaker 5: good teammate, He was a good kid, and it worked
- 23:18Speaker 5: out because they went on to win the World Series
- 23:20Speaker 5: like four or five years later, so apparently something did.
- 23:23Speaker 3: He did something right.
- 23:24Speaker 2: We make that joke. We make that joke all the
- 23:26Speaker 2: time about like, yeah, when I was a young kid,
- 23:29Speaker 2: you know, it was like me or JT or anybody
- 23:31Speaker 2: like I didn't speak unless spoken to, you know, like
- 23:34Speaker 2: I didn't even think about opening in my mouth.
- 23:39Speaker 3: But you were good. He was good. I will give
- 23:42Speaker 3: him this. He was good. He was good as a rookie.
- 23:44Speaker 3: So somebody taught him right.
- 23:45Speaker 5: He did the right things except for the base running,
- 23:48Speaker 5: but everything else he did right and has turned into
- 23:50Speaker 5: obviously a start.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Dan's be good luck. It's been a lot of fun
- 23:55Speaker 4: watching you guys. In Chicago or the course of this season.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Best elected us the way in this postseason push. We
- 24:01Speaker 4: appreciate you taking the time and honestly, more than anything,
- 24:04Speaker 4: best of luck to you and Mallory and the health
- 24:05Speaker 4: of that beautiful baby. And thanks you're taking the time.
- 24:08Speaker 2: To be with us. Thank you all. I appreciate it.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Thanks for having me on
