- 1:51of John J. Malone. The Nation Little Broadcasting Company presents The Amazing Mister
- 2:02Malone, an exciting half hour of mystery starring George Bagree as the lawyer who's
- 2:09practiced before every type of bar has become a legend. Our locale is the
- 2:14city of Chicago, the time, the present, and the hero of these
- 2:19weekly adventures, the amazing mister Malone. Malone's the name John J. Malone,
- 2:38Attorney and const law Tonight. In our study of the cliche, Let's
- 2:42take a Ganderet's hard work never killed anyone. You can never prove that.
- 2:46By Danny Brayden. Danny is the dark haired boy in a small furnished department
- 2:51on Chicago's South Side. Danny is what is known in the trade as a
- 2:55solitary drinker, and he's just made an amazing discovery. The liquor goes a
- 3:00lot further that way. Danny, Danny, what the devil do you want
- 3:06them? I don't want to nag you, Darling. Shouldn't be giving a
- 3:08down good imitation. I see who that is? Sure, darling? Just
- 3:15a minute, I'm coming. Yes, I'm looking for Danny Brayden. What
- 3:23do you want with him? I'm an old buddy. Here's from La.
- 3:25Just tell him it's Jack Buck. Tell what are you doing here? Hi?
- 3:30Danny? Good to see it. What do you want? Buck?
- 3:31Tell? Now? Is there any way to talk your little girl here?
- 3:36Think you weren't glad to see me? She'd be right. That's gratitude for
- 3:38you. And to think the minute I stepped off that bus, I made
- 3:42tracks right over here. Shouldn't have bothered. There's no bother talk. How
- 3:46are you doing, Danny? It's well you don't look at well you know
- 3:50me? Buck? I never believed in being ostentatious news? One hundred grand?
- 3:54Are you kidding? Darling? Shut up? Where can we talk the
- 4:00matter with this? Two things? One you haven't invited me in? What's
- 4:02the other? All right? Both? No problems? All right. I'm
- 4:05gonna gona take yourself a walk. No, you're gonna get mixed up in
- 4:10something, don't you understanding? I make it a nice long walk like from
- 4:15here to Evanston. Well, all right, Danny better call me before you
- 4:20come home. I like a girl of the mind. Sit down. Thanks.
- 4:28You said something about one hundred grand. Not so fast, Danny boy.
- 4:33There are one of two things we got to iron out first, such
- 4:36as I gotta be protected. Okay? Then sign right here? What is
- 4:44this just a little agreement that we split fifty to fifty on your income for
- 4:46the next ten years. You think I'd be stupid enough to sign this?
- 4:50Why lose? Well, if I went to work, you wouldn't do a
- 4:56thing like that. Don't be so smart. Let's not kid each other.
- 4:59Danny. I know you from a way back. You've got no more intention
- 5:01of doing an honest day's work than I have. Now, if you want
- 5:04to sign that agreement, okay, If you don't, that's all right too.
- 5:10Give me a pen. Hey, Daniel, m gret that's that.
- 5:19I was fine. Now what's the deal? You remember a little girl you
- 5:24were married to named Gloria Mason? That's your idea of a gag? How
- 5:29long has it been since she got killed in that fire? What are you
- 5:31a coming head? Just you and me for a couple of minutes with him
- 5:34six years ago, as I recall it, never did find her body,
- 5:38nothing left to find, just some silver bridgework. I bet you can afford
- 5:43platinum. Now what are you babbling about? She's alive, Danny, You're
- 5:47nuts. She started that fire herself. What why get away from you?
- 5:54What kind of crack is that? I tell you? Gloria is right here
- 5:57in town. When she calls herself Glinda, Yeah, that isn't all she
- 6:02changed. She doesn't have that red hair anymore. And she's married married to
- 6:10a fellow named Phil Stacy, Phil the Stacy that owns the Belmont Casino.
- 6:17I understand she's nuts about him. You must be out of your mind.
- 6:20Well, there is one way to convince yourself. Go up and see.
- 6:24And while you're at it, you might ask her for a couple of bucks,
- 6:27you know, so you're can to afford a cab back. I'm sure
- 6:30she wouldn't want her husband to walk Yes, Well, what do you know
- 6:51what? I never would have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my
- 6:55own eyes. What's the matter, Gloria, don't you recognize you? One
- 6:59and only? It's Danny. If you don't get out of here, you
- 7:02scream yes and head Phil Phil. Of course we both know he isn't home.
- 7:09I made sure of that. I don't know who you are. I'm
- 7:12not Gloria. You couldn't have forgotten or we meant to each other. I
- 7:15don't know what you're talking about. Well, maybe I know a way to
- 7:18show you. Did that? Bring back fond memories. What do you want,
- 7:25Danny? I knew it would ring a bell? What do you want?
- 7:28Only what's mine? You know? Ah? Now you're my wife?
- 7:32Honey. You don't know how I missed you. I'm sure you found someone
- 7:36else to beat up. Oh no, Gloria, Oh I beg your pardon,
- 7:40Glinda. There never was anyone like you. Well, what do you
- 7:45say? You pack your bags and I'll take you home. Let me go?
- 7:48Oh? Come on, sweet? Do you love it once you get
- 7:51used to the bugs? What are you after? I told you you?
- 7:57I only hope Phil won't be disappointed. You're not going to say a word
- 8:01to him. I'll kill you if you do. Well, he's bound to
- 8:03find out, after all, he thinks he's married to you. How much
- 8:07do you want? Now you think I came here for? How much do
- 8:11you want? I never thought of it like that? But if you'd rather
- 8:16stick with Phil, I fire be it from me to interfere with your happiness.
- 8:22Let's let's make it five grand. That's a nice round figure. Don't
- 8:28be a fool. Where would I get it? It doesn't have to be
- 8:31cash, honey, I'll take your check. I'm sure you wouldn't stop payment.
- 8:35How do I know you won't be back again? Of course I will,
- 8:39Glinda, You're my wife. What kind of husband would I be not
- 8:41to drop by when I'm in the neighborhood and I intend to be around real
- 8:46often. Oh, I'll tell him? Man, how goes the battle?
- 9:07Who is this? Jack? Buckchell? Is Danny around? Just a second?
- 9:11It's for you, Danny? Who is it? Mister Buck? Tell
- 9:16hello? Hi? Danny? Fine? How'd you make out? How'd I
- 9:20make out? I understand you were up to see missus Stacy this afternoon.
- 9:24Where do you understand that from? Oh? I got ways and means of
- 9:28my disposal? How did we do? We didn't do? I don't get
- 9:33you, Danny, very simple? Buck, this isn't the right names.
- 9:35Well, I ought to know I was married to him. Boy, don't
- 9:39try to hop me around. Never entered my mind. Sorry it worked out
- 9:43this way, Buck, But maybe we can get together on something else sometimes.
- 9:48Give me a call if you get me. Ideas, it's some more
- 10:01coffee, Glinda asked if you wanted some more coffee? Oh, no,
- 10:07thanks, Phil. What's the trouble, baby, trouble? You haven't said
- 10:11two words since we sat down. Well, I got a slight headache?
- 10:16You want right? Maybe if you ate something you haven't been hungry for a
- 10:20week. You don't stop picking on me. Sorry, honey, it's my
- 10:26fault, feeling. I'm just on edge. I'm gonna call Doc Willburn.
- 10:33I don't want you to. I tell you I'm perfectly all right. And
- 10:35what's bothering? Nothing? Absolutely nothing swhere. Look, Glinda, I promise
- 10:43when we got married, i'd never ask any questions. I know that Phil
- 10:48and I appreciate it. But if something's worrying you and you want to tell
- 10:50Papa, you'll always be ready to listen. Remember that. Hello, Well,
- 11:13Doris, it's Danny Brydon. Oh, Hi, Danny, my missus
- 11:16there what No, No, she ain't. Oh. I just got in
- 11:22to find a note saying she's going over to see you. Well, she
- 11:24left you ten minutes ago. I think she had an appointment with John J.
- 11:26Malone. Who you know that lawyer? Fella? What does she want
- 11:31with Malone? Well? I don't know that. Gee, I shouldn't have
- 11:35told you. You won't say nothing. Don't you worry, Dorith, I
- 11:37won't breathe it to it. That's the second had just a second. Yeah,
- 11:58I'm looking for John J. Malone to try the Prescoat building. Understand
- 12:01he's got an office there. His secretary told me he's never in, and
- 12:05then she said, if it was real important, I could find him here.
- 12:09Because she says a great big blab of MoU uh huh skip it.
- 12:11Come on in, missus braydon Thelma brief, sit down. Well, you
- 12:18don't have to worry. I won't bite. I left my uppers in my
- 12:20other head. What I don't try to figure it out? It's not worth
- 12:24it. What's your problem? The problem? There must be an echo in
- 12:26here. I'm sorry, mister Maloney's just that I'm nervous. Why why I've
- 12:31never done anything like this before. Danny would kill me. If he knew.
- 12:37Danny, I'd take it as your husband is on a divorce. No,
- 12:41what is it? Well, you see I married Danny three years ago
- 12:45after his first wife died in a fire. Well, well, just for
- 12:50the sake of argument, suppose she didn't die, Suppose she was still alive.
- 12:56When she's still his wife. It doesn't. Oh, don't stop on,
- 12:58my Malone. Didn't your mother ever teach it? On knack Lieutennis.
- 13:03She also taught me not to be noisy. That's a fun tennant thanks so
- 13:07will look Brooks, I happen to be very busy, and you're gonna be
- 13:09a lot busier before the day is over. Pay no attention to him,
- 13:11Thoma. I'm afraid she's gonna have to. I'm with the police, missus
- 13:15Brayden. How did you know her name was brad Oh, you'd be surprised
- 13:18what I know about her? She's thirty one, blonde and recently widowed.
- 13:22Widow. All right, Sinny, what are you getting at Her husband was
- 13:24murdered an hour ago. No, yes, you're lying. You're making this
- 13:30all up? Are you no better? Are you accusing her? No?
- 13:33No? Oh, I wouldn't worry, Thomas. Didn't they tell you Malone
- 13:35was amazing? Why with them on your side, all you can possibly lose
- 13:39is your life? Ain't that accompanying thought? You're listening to the amazing miss
- 13:48Malone. It's the Silver Jubilee on MBC East and West meet as mister Moto
- 14:00will move swiftly against those who would corrupt and destroy freedom loving people everywhere on
- 14:05the national front. Martin Kin, Private Eye will find himself involved in plenty
- 14:09of action as he becomes involved in whirlwind adventures beginning July. First, mister
- 14:13Motto and Martin Kain two invitations to suspense, intrigue and mystery over your favorite
- 14:20NVC station. And now back to the amazing mister Malone. There's one nice
- 14:39thing you can say for my apartments. It's convenience. Within a space of
- 14:43five minutes, I had two visitors and both gifted conversationless. The first was
- 14:48thumb of Braden, the second Lieutenant Brooks, and the dialogue was real scintillating.
- 14:54Then Brooks got started on a monologue. That's when the party got dull.
- 14:58That's my duty to warn you, missus Brad, and that anything you
- 15:00say may be used in evidence. Why did you shut up? Can't you
- 15:03see she's in a state of shock? Thomm huh? Can you understand me?
- 15:07He said I killed Dan. You didn't mean it, didn't I look,
- 15:11Sidney, use your head? Where's her motives? Oh? You're just
- 15:13talking to pad your part? Where's some motive? Why that husband has used
- 15:16to beat her like she was whip creed. That's not true? Are you
- 15:18kidding? The neighbors told me cut you around regularly. I didn't care.
- 15:22Why were you consulting alone. Well that's a confidential matter. How did you
- 15:26know she was here? My friends? You mean, Darius, You're right?
- 15:31Listen to me, Thoma, remember that matter we were discussing before he
- 15:33walked in. But you know about this girl you knew whose husband thought she
- 15:37was dead? The girl I knew, the one who was supposed to be
- 15:41burning that fire? What was her name? I can't think. You've got
- 15:45to look. Is this a private game? Or can a strange to take
- 15:48a hand? That's private? It's Stacy Glinda, Stacy Hill, Stacy's wife.
- 15:52I don't know. Check you go along with Brooks? Now you mean
- 15:56I can have it. I'll get your hopes up, Lieutenant. She's only
- 15:58for a lend. I'll be back for after I look up another prospect.
- 16:11I mean, oh well, well if it isn't the amazing mister Malone,
- 16:15come on in. Thanks. Hey, he's quite a place, you know.
- 16:21I've never been up here like it? Why shouldn't I didn't I furnish
- 16:25it? But what are you talking about? I figure with the dough I
- 16:26drop at your club, I must have at least bought the drapes. Thanks,
- 16:32Drake, What do you got? Scotch that's my boy. Say when
- 16:36that's one of these whoop? Yeah, what about you? No, I'll
- 16:44sit this one out. Well, like they say, here's the crime.
- 16:49Hmmm, all right, malone, what's in your mind? Can't a man
- 16:53just drop around for a sociable drink and not if you're other man? Well,
- 16:56I was kind of hoping to meet your wife. I have heard a
- 16:59lot about it. If you're round, no, unless you'd be back,
- 17:03I have no idea. And in that case, suppose we have a little
- 17:06talk as a concern Glinda vitally, then I don't want to hear it.
- 17:08I don't discuss my wife with strangers. How do you know I'm a stranger?
- 17:11Maybe Glenna and I have a big romss brewing. Oh, don't make
- 17:15me laugh. You know my reputation. Yeah, you're a sucker for a
- 17:17long shot. That's as supposed to me. Take it anyway you like.
- 17:21Look, Phil, I want to be on the level with you. I
- 17:22represent a thelmb of braid. I told you I wasn't interested. You ought
- 17:26to be because your wife's enough alone. I think you better go. You
- 17:30don't fail. You're a remarkable guy. There are not many men around wh
- 17:33would trust their wives so implicitly, I wouldn't know. Well, I would
- 17:37thanks for the drink and tell Glinda I was sorry to miss her. Maybe
- 17:41I'll catch her on the next round. Yes, Bill, help you with
- 17:56those packages? How do you much better? Good? Would you like a
- 18:03drink? I'd love it. You sit down right over here and Papa will
- 18:06take care of Did you bring the evening papers? Oh? I forgot?
- 18:11It doesn't matter. All the news is bad, which reminds me John J.
- 18:15Malone was up to see you this afternoon. Huh. You know lawyer,
- 18:19but he's representing film. What did he want? I didn't give him
- 18:23a chance to say, if you want your drink? What did he say?
- 18:27Phil? I told you I wouldn't listen to him, but I will
- 18:30do you. I don't understand. Look, baby, you know our deal.
- 18:37I never asked you about anything, but if you're in a jam,
- 18:40I want to know about it. Tell you everything's fine, darling, all
- 18:45right, Glinda hot to be like you say everything's fine and Malone or no
- 18:51Malone, Papa's going to keep it that way. Yeah, come alone,
- 19:04that's right. I'm so glad to find you in You don't know the trouble
- 19:08I had getting your address. You shouldn't have bothered. Oh, I don't
- 19:11mind, all right, let's get it over with. I beg your fore
- 19:15look, Junior, this is an old story to me, though generally I
- 19:17find him waiting inside. Weren't you send here to warn me off? A
- 19:19How in the world did you know that? I'm amazing? Besides that bulge
- 19:22in your pocket gave you away? Oh you mean this old thing? Hey,
- 19:26isn't that kind of heavy for a little man like you to carry?
- 19:30But then that makes you a big man, doesn't he? Definitely? Who
- 19:33sentya Glendas Stacy? And why would missus Stacey? You want to do that?
- 19:36Because we both know she killed Danny Brayden? Did she? Absolutely?
- 19:40She was legally married to Breagnan and he was probably shaking her down, so
- 19:42she took the obvious way. See my point? Well, isn't there something
- 19:45you're overlooking? You're right, I'd completely forgotten about her husband. Did Phil
- 19:51send you? Well? By his own admissions, oh, I wouldn't.
- 19:55I was just trying to get a cigarette and so you can smoke mine no
- 19:57nicotine, And he was saying, oh yeah, he'll do anything in the
- 20:04world for his wife, would he? Well? That's what he claimed,
- 20:07and I see No, wait a minute, I'll tell you phutto something else.
- 20:11Yes, indeed, Danny must have just recently found out Glenda was living.
- 20:15Would you believe? I have no idea what you're talking about? It
- 20:18doesn't matter. I was just thinking out loud, your mind, not at
- 20:21all the way I see it, Danny must have learned about Glenn in the
- 20:22past few weeks, otherwise his whole affair would have been precipitated a long time
- 20:26ago. Now, how did Danny find out? May I offer a suggestion?
- 20:32Please do? Maybe he saw her on the street. No, No,
- 20:34that's too convenient. There has to be another party who's pried the information,
- 20:37does it. That's the only way it adds up. Who could have
- 20:40tipped off Danny that Glenda was alive? I had no idea. Well thanks
- 20:45anyway, friend, you've been real sweet to let me run on like this.
- 20:48No matter, kid, can't you take it down there? I know
- 20:52I ought to be ashamed of hitting anyone smaller than myself, but you don't
- 20:55think a bully like me would hit anyone bigger? See oh in see hey,
- 21:08sessman, how do you spell consensus? I'll tell him heck, you're
- 21:12nose tool vision. Oh no, make for the healthman. That man's here
- 21:15again. Look here, you don't want to talk to here, don't speak
- 21:18at that. I'm not kidding, Lieutenant got the whole thing figured out when
- 21:21haven't I'm serious? Tell me Braiden didn't kill her husband. I'll naturally,
- 21:23it'd say that naturally, And I've just been with the boy who can prove
- 21:26it. But why didn't you bring him with you? He was in no
- 21:27condition to travel, He had a gun, and I saw no point in
- 21:30letting him use it. Coward who sent him? I wouldn't say, but
- 21:33I'd be willing to hazard a guess. All right, let's see, try
- 21:36and stay with me. Danny Brayden was blackmailing Phil Stacy's wife. Why because
- 21:41she was really Danny's wife. She was never legally married to Phil. And
- 21:44this couldn't possibly be as confusing as you make it sound. If you think
- 21:47it's rough, way to hear the rest. Danny thought she was dead.
- 21:51Recently he learned she was alive. Now that information had to come from someone
- 21:55who was it, Well, you tell me I'm the Schlamiel, remember,
- 21:59Okay, it came from the same guy. Who sent that punk Junior Greater
- 22:02around and knocked me off? And who's that Phil Stacy? Are you out
- 22:04of your mind? Who'd be in a better position to know all about Glenda's
- 22:07background? Well, why would Phill want a blackmail his own wife? That's
- 22:10what I keep telling you. She's not his wife, all right? Why
- 22:11do you want a blackmail Glenda? He's in the chips. What do you
- 22:14suppose that bankroll came from originally? Glenda? Charge? She must be the
- 22:18one who's loaded. Phil's past is a mystery. When Glenda left Danny,
- 22:21she must have waltzed off with all of Danny's dog This assumes he had money
- 22:25at one time. Yeah, and let's see if I understand you, it's
- 22:29your theory. Phil was blackmailing Glenda through Danny. Hooray you caught on.
- 22:33Well, I'll have to give you credit, Malone. You were right on
- 22:36one count. The information that Glenda was alive did come through a third party,
- 22:40only it was in Phil Stacy. It came from a fellow named Jack
- 22:44buck Tell. But if Phil wasn't the one who supplied the information, you
- 22:48were wrong on COUNTO. Yeah, but don't feel too badly. You were
- 22:52fifty percent right, and for you, that's a forty nine percent in proof.
- 22:55Keep it up counts. So you're doing fine. You are listening to
- 23:03the Amazing mister Malone. It's the Silver Jubilee on NBC. They say there's
- 23:17a thin line between the reel and the unreal, a place where time stands
- 23:22still, a land of silent mystery. We bring you excursions into the unknown,
- 23:27journeys into the future, and through the shadow filled corridors of the minds
- 23:33of men. On Dimension X, a program designed to bring you the unusual.
- 23:40Tom Conway brings us back to reality as the deboneer gentleman adventurer Simon Templar
- 23:45who finds suspense and mystery awaiting him as The Saint. And here's another program
- 23:49note be sure to hear Martin Kin Private Eye, beginning on this station July
- 23:55first, and featuring the well known screen star Lloyd Nolan, X, The
- 24:00Saint and Martin Caine. Three top programs designed for your summer entertainment over NBC.
- 24:07Where the Chimes are And now back to the Amazing mister Malone. They
- 24:26say you can't keep a good man down, and they're absolutely right. Where
- 24:30Lieutenant Brooks thought he had knocked me out with his haymaker that Jack Bucktell supplied
- 24:33the information to blackmail Glinda. He was wrong. It was a bad blow,
- 24:37all right. But I picked myself right off the floor and stepped into
- 24:41another. So Phil needed Glendastow. And why you schmoe boy. Phil's been
- 24:45in the Chips since nineteen thirty, all right, So I made a mistake.
- 24:48It's nice of you to admit it. I can't help myself. Where's
- 24:52this Jack Bucktel? Now you know how to hunt you. That's that?
- 24:55And I happen to be prepared with an answer, susman showing mister buckto listen,
- 25:00Lieutenant, if you know what's good for it, he'll be silly.
- 25:03If I know what's good for me, I never would have been a coup.
- 25:06This is John j Ma Malone, so acting pressed. He's a big
- 25:08man. Buck Tell, I want to talk to you. I had nothing
- 25:11to say, Kenna, could you leave us alone for a couple of minutes?
- 25:12So you think it's safety outweighs you about forty pounds. M Yeah,
- 25:17On second thought, maybe you better stick around, Alison. Buck Tell.
- 25:21How much would Danny give you? What do you mean? How much he
- 25:22give me? All the money he blackmail from Glenda and he didn't get a
- 25:25dime from her, so he held out on you. No, he did
- 25:26just a minute. There was no split. That's because there was nothing too
- 25:30split. He told me Glinda wasn't the right girl. But you knew better.
- 25:33I knew nothing of the con when you learned Danny double cross, you
- 25:34you killed him, You went to his apartment, you shot him in the
- 25:37back. You're crazy, all right, Brooks, What are you waiting for?
- 25:40Do you hear him confessing? No? Well he practically I didn't hear
- 25:42him. You just haven't been reading between the line, and all a readon
- 25:45you've done must have strained your ryes. He couldn't have killed Danny. Why
- 25:48not because at the time of the murder he was in Detroit. He won.
- 25:52You heard me at the fly Susman there this morning to pick him up.
- 25:56That doesn't make sense if he didn't kill Danny, and it's barely possible
- 25:59your clients did. Oh, thanks for helping us out, Malone. I
- 26:03don't know what I'd do without you. Yes, I bet you're Glenda Stacy.
- 26:21I beg your pardon. My name's John J. Malone. Didn't your
- 26:23husband tell you. I was around earlier today. No, he didn't.
- 26:26I was, Unfortunately I missed you. What can I do for you,
- 26:30mister Malone? You can invite me in. I think that'd be a mistake.
- 26:34Oh hi, Phil, I didn't see you. It's pretty obvious.
- 26:37What do you want? Malone? Well, I just dropped. I to
- 26:40apologize, apologize? Yeah, can I come in? All right? Thanks?
- 26:48This is a lovely place you have here, Glenda. Well, I
- 26:52feel I know you so well. After all, I've heard so much about
- 26:53you. All right, Malone? What do you want? You're much more
- 26:56hospital this afternoon. You invited me to have a drink. Remember, what
- 26:59do you want? I guess I have to buy my own. I don't
- 27:00know where the money's gonna come from. Gee, get to the point.
- 27:03Well, as I started to tell you, I represent a thumb of braidon,
- 27:08I think you better leave us alone with Glenda. No, I want
- 27:11to hear this. I don't blame you a lover. It's pretty good yarn.
- 27:14You see, Thelma was married to a boy named Danny. You don't
- 27:17have to go into that. We read it in all the papers, not
- 27:19all Phil. You see, Thoma wasn't really married to him. Legally he
- 27:22was still Glenda's husband. Why that's a lie. I should have told him,
- 27:26lover, Look, Malone, what are you trying to hand me?
- 27:27You folks said nothing to worry about what Danny did. There's nothing to prevent
- 27:30you from getting remarried. I don't like those kind of jokes. No joke,
- 27:33Phil, But I did do you an injustice. Some guns will come
- 27:37up to my apartment early this afternoon in like a fool. I jumped to
- 27:40two conclusions, one that you sent him. Now looky, just hear me
- 27:44on. I also came up with a weird theory that you were behind a
- 27:47blackmail plot to shake down Glendon. Are you out of your mind? I
- 27:49must have been. Lieutenant Brooks told me you were the one with the money.
- 27:52I didn't take his word for it, so I check with your bank.
- 27:55He was right. Where do you get I know? I got my
- 27:57nerve. They told me something something else. But in the last month,
- 28:02Glenda here issued four checks to Danny Braiden. I know about that, sure
- 28:07I did, Baby. He's telling the truth, Lover. He saw the
- 28:08endorsement. So it's all being the kind of man you are, naturally,
- 28:11it took steps and all of them in the direction of Danny Braden's apartment.
- 28:15Then later you sent that punk around to scare me off when you thought I
- 28:18was gonna hang Danny's murder on Glenda. You're trying to say I killed him.
- 28:22I thought I did. Why you know he wants to slug me,
- 28:26which I hadn't come in so fast. Go on your too big a hand
- 28:29to miss a cue now, fool of public and act like a policeman.
- 28:49Hey, George, hop out little service here? Oh what are you complaining
- 28:52about my lawn? We're getting this middle of this possible. I don't know
- 28:56why I come here every week. Everybody's a coming. Listen the lord,
- 29:00what do you want a How did you know philm killed Danny brad Well?
- 29:07It all came down to the process of elimination. You had a cast iron
- 29:11alibi for Jack Budtell so so that took care of him. And as far
- 29:17as Glinda was concerned, it wasn't in character for her to commit murder,
- 29:19or she would have done it long ago. Look what she went through to
- 29:22get away from Danny. Then when he turned up again she paid him off.
- 29:26Well, maybe maybe she got tired of it. Never you know,
- 29:30the first touch is always the hardest for a blackmailer. Once the victim kicks
- 29:33through, from then on it's clear sailing. So that took care of Glenda
- 29:37and left his phil Oh why didn't he let on to Glenda that he knew
- 29:41about Danny, Because that's kind of a guy, phil Is he was crazy
- 29:44about her. If she thought she was keeping something from him, he wasn't
- 29:47gonna let on. Now does that take care of all your questions? Now?
- 29:51No, this is all well and good about the process of elimination,
- 29:53but there's one party in this deal you want for Look who your client?
- 29:57Why couldn't thumb have been filtered because you made the paint? Well, well,
- 30:02you were right last week, so now it had to be my turn.
- 30:03After all, I'm the one who's amazing. Good Night, Lieutenant.
- 30:17Never hear the story of a man who came up with an interesting theory about
- 30:21life, then one of his friends shot at full of holes. As a
- 30:25lawyer, I can tell you it was murdered. I'll put you in on
- 30:29a guard of tales next week, So why don't pick me up in my
- 30:30office the same time. I'll be waiting for you. Good Night. George
- 30:37Petrie was starred as John J. Malone with Larry Haynes as Lieutenant Brooks.
- 30:42Our program is written by Eugene Wang and directed by Richard Lewis. The Amazing
- 30:47Mister Malone is based on a famous character created by Craig Rice and produced by
- 30:52Bernard L. Schubert. The events and characters in this story were entirely fictional,
- 30:56and any resemblance to person's living or dead is entirely cool. That Bred
- 31:00Collins speaking, the Amazing Mister Malone has come to you from New York.
- 31:08Stay tuned for the man called X next overmost NBC station. Welcome back.
- 31:15Well, another solid episode and Larry Haynes does continue to steal the show as
- 31:22Lieutenant Brooks. But I thought just on both sides for Brooks and Malone had
- 31:27some just incredible dialogue and it does kind of stand out from the rest of
- 31:33the characters as almost a relief. All right, Well, we have several
- 31:37more weeks of this and then we'll be getting into the Australian version. But
- 31:42that will do it for today. Send your comments to Box thirteen at Great
