- 0:27Speaker 1: Hey, it's another victory Monday, the eighth in a row
- 0:31Speaker 1: thirteen this season. The Daguars are your AFC South champs
- 0:34Speaker 1: and the postseason begins this week.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Welcome.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm Kinnannie Stevens, Brian Sexton, John Osier with me today.
- 0:40Speaker 2: And it was a fun one yesterday.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Let's go over some of our big things from it,
- 0:43Speaker 1: brought to you by g EAJ Government Employees Health Association.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Big Thig Number one has to be quarterback one, which
- 0:49Speaker 1: is Trevor Lawrence. And we've seen the best football we've
- 0:52Speaker 1: seen out of him in his career the past two months,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and that coincides in the AFC South title.
- 0:58Speaker 3: To see the progression and see just the attention to
- 1:01Speaker 3: detail from the coaching staff, not just Liam, but obviously
- 1:03Speaker 3: it's led by him. Just the attention to detail throughout
- 1:06Speaker 3: the week and the game planning, feeling the preparation on Sundays,
- 1:10Speaker 3: feeling it come to life. And I think just stacking
- 1:14Speaker 3: all those days and all those weeks now is why
- 1:17Speaker 3: we're playing so much better offensively, because sometimes it takes
- 1:20Speaker 3: some time, but now we have so many reps and
- 1:22Speaker 3: I really were ready for whatever the defense throws at
- 1:24Speaker 3: us and it's not always perfect, but it's been a
- 1:27Speaker 3: fun progression and he's a hell of a coach and
- 1:30Speaker 3: I'm glad he's here in Jacksonville and very thankful for.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Him, Brian.
- 1:33Speaker 1: In the off season, there were questions whether Liam Cohen
- 1:35Speaker 1: was going to be able to do for Trevor Lawrence
- 1:37Speaker 1: when he did for Baker Mayfield in the past couple
- 1:39Speaker 1: of months to put any questions to rest, as we've
- 1:42Speaker 1: seen the best of Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Without a doubt.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Remember when the story line was his footwork and how
- 1:46Speaker 5: he was going to have to change, and then early
- 1:48Speaker 5: this season there were some nuances and things that needed
- 1:51Speaker 5: to adjust.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Over the last six.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Weeks, nineteen touchdowns total, just one turnover. It's been a
- 1:57Speaker 5: remarkable turnaround for him. And now the confidence level that
- 2:00Speaker 5: this team has in their quarterback, well, if you haven't
- 2:04Speaker 5: seen the video of Jerry and Jones in the locker
- 2:06Speaker 5: room offering that gift, everybody believes in Trevor Lawrence in
- 2:12Speaker 5: this building and that means a lot going forward, John
- 2:15Speaker 5: because with the playoffs coming and Josh Allen coming in
- 2:18Speaker 5: here this week, the Jaguars feel as good about their
- 2:20Speaker 5: quarterback as any in the AFC.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Well, and they shiit. He's not just QB one.
- 2:25Speaker 7: I think he's a legitimate MVP candidate. If I talk
- 2:28Speaker 7: to voters in the offseason and he doesn't win it,
- 2:30Speaker 7: I want to know why his numbers, his performance is
- 2:34Speaker 7: as good as Drake Mays. Stafford beat him, and Stafford
- 2:39Speaker 7: has numbers, But the Ram's gonna have as good record.
- 2:41Speaker 7: You know, Christian McCaffrey's up there. Jaguars beat them. So
- 2:45Speaker 7: I'm not saying he's a walk away candidate, but for
- 2:47Speaker 7: him not to be in the conversation and not to
- 2:49Speaker 7: be in the forefront of people's mind for the most
- 2:51Speaker 7: valuable player in the NFL, show me what.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Sure, there will be many conversations about that. We'll be
- 2:56Speaker 1: keeping track in receipts as always. Big thing number two
- 2:59Speaker 1: today is going to be JAG's HQ. There were big
- 3:01Speaker 1: off teams and changes, a lot of that evolving around
- 3:04Speaker 1: the head coach and new GM and Tony bcell is
- 3:06Speaker 1: stepping into a new role at eedp Liam Cohen talked
- 3:09Speaker 1: a little bit about why that relationship between all three
- 3:11Speaker 1: of them is so special.
- 3:13Speaker 8: Tony and James and I are you know, it's a
- 3:16Speaker 8: pretty cool relationship. It's it's obviously goes beyond just a
- 3:20Speaker 8: working friendship and I can't thank them enough for their support.
- 3:25Speaker 8: And we truly do.
- 3:26Speaker 4: It all together.
- 3:27Speaker 8: That's the cool part. Like everything that we do, every
- 3:30Speaker 8: decision that we make is together, is a group effort.
- 3:35Speaker 8: And just to be to have Tony, to have James
- 3:39Speaker 8: and their roles and how you know, the continuity.
- 3:44Speaker 4: That we have.
- 3:44Speaker 8: I think the players feel it. I think the guys
- 3:47Speaker 8: in the locker room all believe that we're on the
- 3:50Speaker 8: same page and that the amount of time that that
- 3:53Speaker 8: we put into these guys, the amount of energy that
- 3:55Speaker 8: gets put into these guys. Tony says it all the time,
- 3:58Speaker 8: it's all about the grass.
- 4:00Speaker 2: John were around these guys a lot.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I think tons of credit ghost to Liam Collin what
- 4:04Speaker 1: he's been able to do coaching these players. But I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: not sure we're here right now if it wasn't all
- 4:08Speaker 1: three of them working together.
- 4:09Speaker 7: No, it's you know, people ask you why is it working,
- 4:15Speaker 7: and you say, well, the leaderships are on the same page,
- 4:17Speaker 7: and they look at you like, well, why wouldn't they
- 4:19Speaker 7: be on the same page, Because it doesn't always happen
- 4:23Speaker 7: to this degree. James Gladstone, you know the moves he
- 4:28Speaker 7: made to get you, Kobe Myers, Liam Cohen, the work
- 4:32Speaker 7: with Trevor everything. Tony Bacelli's sort of started all this
- 4:36Speaker 7: and was very influential in hiring these two and was very.
- 4:40Speaker 6: Focused early on.
- 4:41Speaker 7: And this is going to be a transparent relationship where
- 4:45Speaker 7: the franchise does things right. And Brian, you've been around
- 4:49Speaker 7: longer than I have. The franchise is doing things right
- 4:53Speaker 7: because of those three.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Yeah, let me give you the best example that I
- 4:57Speaker 5: can of that. Last night I walked over to work
- 4:59Speaker 5: post game radio from the stadium to the Miller Electric
- 5:01Speaker 5: Center and walked into a crowd of Jaguars families. In
- 5:06Speaker 5: years past, there'd be a tent and people would maybe
- 5:09Speaker 5: go through on their way out, but they didn't want
- 5:12Speaker 5: to leave. They were in the lunch room, they were
- 5:14Speaker 5: out on the practice field. The culture is inclusive, and
- 5:18Speaker 5: it is about the players. You heard Liam Cohen say,
- 5:21Speaker 5: it's about the players on the grass. But the culture
- 5:24Speaker 5: that they've created here is so different than the culture
- 5:28Speaker 5: that was here last year. There was no culture under
- 5:30Speaker 5: Urban Meyer, the culture under Moron or Bradley, and you
- 5:32Speaker 5: go all the way back, the culture here is about
- 5:36Speaker 5: being a Jaguar and being a part of something bigger
- 5:39Speaker 5: than yourself. It was just overwhelming to stand there around.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Jacoby Meyer's family wanted to talk, and Anthony Johnson's Antonio
- 5:50Speaker 5: Johnson's family wanted to come over and talk. I mean,
- 5:52Speaker 5: there were just so many people that wanted to be
- 5:54Speaker 5: a part of this thing, and the Jaguars made sure
- 5:56Speaker 5: John that all of them felt like they were part
- 5:59Speaker 5: of it. And there was a jewel of that we
- 6:00Speaker 5: can talk about forever and ever. But they've got something
- 6:03Speaker 5: special going here right now because of what Tony Biselli,
- 6:07Speaker 5: James Gladstone, and Liam Cohen have done. And I just
- 6:08Speaker 5: want to say one thing about Bisselli because we spend
- 6:10Speaker 5: so much time talking about Cohen and Coach of.
- 6:12Speaker 4: The Year, and he deserves it.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Quietly, whether he's sitting in the lunch room or walking
- 6:17Speaker 5: on the practice field or walking through the halls, the
- 6:19Speaker 5: way that he has gone about this job this year
- 6:23Speaker 5: is remarkable, the way that people look at him, the
- 6:26Speaker 5: way that he talks to people. He has done a
- 6:30Speaker 5: remarkable job of giving this franchise an opportunity and they've
- 6:36Speaker 5: taken advantage of it.
- 6:37Speaker 7: Yeah, final thought, Guy he might be as good in
- 6:40Speaker 7: the front office as he was on the field.
- 6:41Speaker 6: And he's a Hall of Fame.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, hall of Famer.
- 6:43Speaker 1: That's quite high praise, and I think from what we've
- 6:45Speaker 1: seen so far just in one year, he's definitely working
- 6:48Speaker 1: towards that. If he's not there already, our final big
- 6:50Speaker 1: thing today is going to be it's about us.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Because we talk about this team, they are all one.
- 6:54Speaker 1: They are working together, and just what they've been able
- 6:57Speaker 1: to do on the field, it feels like it's not
- 7:00Speaker 1: just individuals, it's all them playing together.
- 7:03Speaker 9: It's very cool to realize for me as a player
- 7:06Speaker 9: the position that I am, that I don't have to
- 7:08Speaker 9: have the best game to have a win like this
- 7:12Speaker 9: or to win games because other guys are having their
- 7:14Speaker 9: moments as well, that I can continue to do what
- 7:17Speaker 9: I do, but celebrate those guys and celebrate those moments
- 7:20Speaker 9: and when it is my time to go, it's my
- 7:22Speaker 9: time to go. And AJ was like, you know, was
- 7:26Speaker 9: it my best game? I don't know, was it my
- 7:27Speaker 9: most impactful game? Probably wasn't. I did with a lot
- 7:29Speaker 9: of good things, But to sit back there and watch
- 7:33Speaker 9: AJ get that pick, and for me, what can I do?
- 7:35Speaker 9: To help to get a block, run my boat off
- 7:38Speaker 9: to get a block so he can find his way
- 7:39Speaker 9: and the in zone so he can have his moment.
- 7:41Speaker 9: And that's what we have a collective of guys to do.
- 7:44Speaker 9: And I think again, that's what makes our team.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Special, right And there's been many times when Josh Hensand
- 7:49Speaker 1: was the best player out on the field for the Jaguars.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But it is cool now that it's a full team effort.
- 7:54Speaker 1: It can be anybody's best game any week. And what's
- 7:56Speaker 1: even cooler about that is than when you're taking on
- 7:59Speaker 1: an opponent. Now that we know it's going to be
- 8:00Speaker 1: the Bills, it feels like it doesn't matter as long
- 8:02Speaker 1: as the Jaguars play their best games.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Now there's so many opportunities, places and people where you're
- 8:07Speaker 5: going to see success. The offensive line this year has
- 8:10Speaker 5: been a great one where they've had to move players
- 8:12Speaker 5: on and off the field, the secondary where they've had
- 8:14Speaker 5: to overcome injuries.
- 8:15Speaker 4: I mean, how are we here at the end of
- 8:16Speaker 4: this first segment.
- 8:17Speaker 5: We haven't even mentioned the fact that Kim Little kicked
- 8:19Speaker 5: the longest outdoor field goal in NFL history now owns
- 8:22Speaker 5: one and two. It doesn't matter who it is it
- 8:26Speaker 5: matters when their moment is there, do they rise to it?
- 8:29Speaker 5: And they have and I'll reference to Jarry and Jones
- 8:32Speaker 5: video once again. I mean to see the joy on
- 8:34Speaker 5: their faces in the locker room together yesterday is very
- 8:38Speaker 5: similar to the way that they play and it's it's
- 8:42Speaker 5: been a good run as any in Jaguars history.
- 8:45Speaker 7: Yeah, you can't fake what's going on. You can't fake
- 8:49Speaker 7: the emotion in the locker room and they say Liam
- 8:51Speaker 7: coming in and they're excited for that moment.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Look, winning helps you know.
- 8:57Speaker 7: If that momentum and broken when you see this level.
- 9:01Speaker 7: I don't know, but sometimes you get around stories and
- 9:05Speaker 7: teams that you know are special and you always remember,
- 9:07Speaker 7: and this is one of them.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Stays here on Jagsam.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Coming up, we'll go over the highlights from yesterday and
- 9:12Speaker 1: talk more about.
- 9:13Speaker 2: This AFC South Crown DAGs fans.
- 9:17Speaker 1: If you want to customiz Dagworts furniture for your home,
- 9:19Speaker 1: check outzipcare dot com to rouse all the customizable options.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Zip Chairs Furniture for fans.
- 9:29Speaker 9: Longest wave in existence. You know, I just thought that
- 9:34Speaker 9: was pretty cool as well. But uh, you know, I
- 9:37Speaker 9: love our fans, man, I love them. I love when
- 9:39Speaker 9: to hear Duval in the crowd chanting as loud as
- 9:42Speaker 9: you can. I think that's an intimidating factor for us
- 9:44Speaker 9: that we can kind of hold on to a little
- 9:46Speaker 9: bit more so when the playoff game. Let's get a
- 9:47Speaker 9: little bit more of that, a little bit more juice
- 9:49Speaker 9: in the stands, and we'll get the next one.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Let's get more loud, loud in the stadium yesterday, and
- 9:55Speaker 1: I have feelings can be very loud on Sunday at
- 9:57Speaker 1: one to take on the Bills in close season, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: I did see that wave going on for like a
- 10:02Speaker 1: solid five ten minutes there in the third quarter, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: I was like, oh, we've reached.
- 10:05Speaker 2: That point in the game.
- 10:06Speaker 6: It is impressive.
- 10:06Speaker 2: It was very impressive.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Let's take a look at some of the highlights of
- 10:09Speaker 1: me yesterday. Titans came out early. Obviously, Jeffrey Simmons got
- 10:14Speaker 1: to Trevor Lawrence on the very first play of the game,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and then Titans were able to score early as well.
- 10:18Speaker 1: But unfortunately for cam Ward and the Titans, because they
- 10:21Speaker 1: got so much going on over there, he injured himself
- 10:23Speaker 1: on this touchdown run.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And I don't feel bad for the Titans.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I wouldn't go that far, but I mean they definitely
- 10:30Speaker 1: didn't need that on the icing to the cake of
- 10:32Speaker 1: the season.
- 10:32Speaker 5: No, The've got a lot of uncertainty now, obviously, which
- 10:36Speaker 5: only helps the Jaguars cement their hold at the top
- 10:39Speaker 5: of the AFC South. They're going to do coach and
- 10:41Speaker 5: the quarterbacks got a shoulder injury. Now we'll see what
- 10:44Speaker 5: that becomes. And for the Jaguars, it meant that they
- 10:46Speaker 5: got him out of the game and Brandon Allen came
- 10:48Speaker 5: in and could do nothing. It's why the game became
- 10:50Speaker 5: forty one to seven. It wasn't somewhat closer.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I think, what's cool about or not cool?
- 10:55Speaker 1: What's interesting when I look at the Titans and I
- 10:57Speaker 1: look at the Jaguars, and we look at last season.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Both teams were in really bad positions at that point,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and how quickly the Jaguars were able to turn things around. John,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen it with some other franchises. The
- 11:08Speaker 1: Bears are doing and the Patriots are kind of doing
- 11:10Speaker 1: it this year as well, But there isn't as much
- 11:13Speaker 1: of the hey, I need a couple of years to
- 11:15Speaker 1: fix this as we've seen in the past. Now you're
- 11:17Speaker 1: seeing some franchises that can turn the page quickly.
- 11:20Speaker 7: Yeah, well, not all franchises had Tony Selli involved. I mean,
- 11:27Speaker 7: I'm not trying to overplay this, but this is a
- 11:29Speaker 7: guy who understood what this franchise needed. He had been
- 11:32Speaker 7: around it and again was very influential and making sure
- 11:37Speaker 7: that this team got Liam Cohen knew what they wanted,
- 11:42Speaker 7: had that eye. Was there some luck involve Sure, when
- 11:44Speaker 7: you're hiring people, you never completely knows it's all going
- 11:46Speaker 7: to work out like this because I think a lot
- 11:49Speaker 7: of people listening when you said anything associated feeling sorry
- 11:53Speaker 7: for the Titans probably started laughing. And for those people, yes,
- 12:00Speaker 7: it was your largest margin of victory over that franchise,
- 12:02Speaker 7: the most points it gets that franchise, and you beat
- 12:04Speaker 7: that franchise sixty six to ten.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Brian, there are people who like.
- 12:07Speaker 4: That, Oh yeah, a lot. And the jackers of one
- 12:09Speaker 4: seven of the last day.
- 12:10Speaker 5: I'll also say this, there was talent here, right, I
- 12:13Speaker 5: mean the Titans don't have enough talent. They have a
- 12:15Speaker 5: few players, the roster had plenty of talented guys. They
- 12:20Speaker 5: just weren't used correctly last year. Offense, defense, special teams
- 12:23Speaker 5: have special teams the same guys here. But you get
- 12:26Speaker 5: what I'm saying is is that Liam comes in and
- 12:28Speaker 5: Tony comes in, they build.
- 12:29Speaker 4: A culture, they change the way that they do things.
- 12:32Speaker 5: They put guys in a position to succeed on defense
- 12:34Speaker 5: in particular, and they took what was here and flipped
- 12:38Speaker 5: it from four to thirteen to thirteen and four without
- 12:41Speaker 5: really bringing in I mean, it wasn't like they went
- 12:43Speaker 5: out and wrote the big check for the high dollar
- 12:45Speaker 5: free agent. They brought some players in here like Robert Hainsey,
- 12:49Speaker 5: who were good players, but most people whore watching this
- 12:51Speaker 5: didn't know who Robert Handy was last year, and yet
- 12:54Speaker 5: they made a significant difference. That's what stands out so
- 12:57Speaker 5: much to me is they walked in here and said, oh, okay,
- 13:00Speaker 5: we can do something with this.
- 13:01Speaker 1: And talk about elevating the players that are already here.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Let's look at Parker Washington's touchdown from yesterday, because that's
- 13:07Speaker 1: someone we saw in training camp looked amazing. But to
- 13:10Speaker 1: think that he's at this point that he's at in
- 13:12Speaker 1: the season, John, we always talk about this.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Look at what Parker's been doing this season.
- 13:16Speaker 7: Well, and again I said last week, I think he's
- 13:19Speaker 7: made a Robbert I mean, he he took a hit
- 13:21Speaker 7: yesterday where I think Trevor was like, oh no, and
- 13:25Speaker 7: it looked at they're like two minutes.
- 13:28Speaker 6: Parker's standing up and he's doing his arms.
- 13:29Speaker 7: And it's like, you know the guy who you know
- 13:33Speaker 7: you hit a cockroach and he keeps on running around.
- 13:36Speaker 7: He's a remarkable, remarkable player, and it goes to show
- 13:43Speaker 7: sometimes you see these training camp and OTA stories and
- 13:46Speaker 7: they get lost this team. Parker is the best example,
- 13:50Speaker 7: but there are others. Jarian Jones, Antonio Johnson, Oh this
- 13:54Speaker 7: guy's playing, well, well, we're gonna we're not gonna ignore that.
- 13:58Speaker 7: We're gonna make sure we maximize that. And Parker Washington
- 14:02Speaker 7: is a core player on this team.
- 14:05Speaker 5: He's also a tough guy, you know, and he wants
- 14:06Speaker 5: to play and it might have hurt him, I don't know,
- 14:10Speaker 5: but there was no.
- 14:10Speaker 6: Way you could hurts Parker Washington.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you're probably right.
- 14:14Speaker 5: He was going to get back on the field that
- 14:15Speaker 5: all costs because he wanted to be a part of it.
- 14:16Speaker 5: These guys love playing with and for Trevor Lawrence and
- 14:20Speaker 5: I mean, listen. He finished the year with the most
- 14:23Speaker 5: receptions and the most passing receiving yards by a Jaguars
- 14:27Speaker 5: wide receiver.
- 14:28Speaker 4: And who would have thought.
- 14:29Speaker 5: That was going to be the case when the season
- 14:30Speaker 5: began and you had Brian Thomas Junior and Travis Hunter
- 14:33Speaker 5: and they spent ten million on Deanni Brown and here
- 14:36Speaker 5: comes Parker Washington, which just goes to show when they
- 14:38Speaker 5: needed him, he showed up big.
- 14:40Speaker 7: And by the way, that throw doesn't happen in weeks
- 14:42Speaker 7: five through six. That was a confidence throw. That was
- 14:45Speaker 7: a big time dart. It's what Trevor's doing well. And
- 14:50Speaker 7: it was an early statement that game. Okay, you got
- 14:53Speaker 7: a lead, but we're the better team.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's the trust to go around we saw.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I think Liam mentioned in his speech every skill position
- 15:01Speaker 1: player had to catch in this game. So on the
- 15:04Speaker 1: second touchdown, it was going to Brent Strange, but btj's
- 15:07Speaker 1: pass interference call kind of set things up on that play.
- 15:11Speaker 2: And John, when we talk about.
- 15:13Speaker 1: The offense with when it was Parker, the trust factors
- 15:17Speaker 1: that he's throwing it because he knows where Parker is
- 15:18Speaker 1: going to be. He still is trust in everybody in
- 15:21Speaker 1: this offense at this point in the season, which it
- 15:23Speaker 1: doesn't feel like he's forcing it to anybody.
- 15:25Speaker 6: And in particular, he didn't carry throws it too.
- 15:29Speaker 7: I was rewatching the game this morning, and there are
- 15:31Speaker 7: a couple of times, at least once, but I think
- 15:32Speaker 7: a couple of times where the announcer you know, oh
- 15:35Speaker 7: it's Brian Thomas Junior, it's Jacobe Meyers. Because there's no
- 15:40Speaker 7: trend in this, it doesn't matter to him who he's
- 15:43Speaker 7: thrown to. There was a series early it may have
- 15:45Speaker 7: been this one where he went to Brenton three times.
- 15:47Speaker 6: Yep, because it was there through to Parker.
- 15:50Speaker 7: I mean, it's it's I said it a million times
- 15:53Speaker 7: in this show. Most impressive things happened this year beyond
- 15:56Speaker 7: the obvious story of Trevor emerging as one of the
- 15:59Speaker 7: best players in the league is the fact that this
- 16:02Speaker 7: wide receiver corps was a liability early in the season.
- 16:07Speaker 7: And I'm not saying against those guys, but drops you
- 16:10Speaker 7: didn't know what they were and you thought Trevor can't
- 16:12Speaker 7: trust this. It's a strength and as you go into
- 16:16Speaker 7: the playoffs, one of the reasons you feel great about
- 16:18Speaker 7: this even though the running game isn't quite where they
- 16:20Speaker 7: want it to be, is you know, Trevor has complete
- 16:23Speaker 7: confidence in everything that's going on around him.
- 16:25Speaker 6: That was not the case in Nottop.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Well, listen, he had confidence on that throw.
- 16:29Speaker 5: Let's not overlook the throw to Brian Thomas where he
- 16:31Speaker 5: had Jeffrey Simmons bearing.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Down on him.
- 16:33Speaker 5: That was a throw that Patrick Mahomes made on Monday
- 16:35Speaker 5: Night Football where the Jaguars had him dead to right
- 16:37Speaker 5: and he put the ball up and it became a completion.
- 16:40Speaker 5: In this case, it became a pass interference. He put
- 16:42Speaker 5: the ball where Brian Thomas could go make a play
- 16:44Speaker 5: on it and drew the flag. That's another thing that
- 16:46Speaker 5: we have seen from him is timely throws under pressure,
- 16:49Speaker 5: and he delivered a big one yesterday that set up
- 16:51Speaker 5: a fourteen to seven league.
- 16:53Speaker 7: He had a couple of yesterday pure talent throws. Even
- 16:56Speaker 7: one of them was sort of a checkdown, but he's
- 16:58Speaker 7: under pressure and flicks it. I think it was Brenton
- 17:01Speaker 7: Strange over on the left, could have easily fallen short
- 17:04Speaker 7: and all of a sudden you're looking at third and long.
- 17:06Speaker 7: Instead it's a first down. You keep going. He has
- 17:09Speaker 7: some hidden plays that are special the great quarterbacks do.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Let's talk about some of those other players contributing that
- 17:15Speaker 1: we've been talking about kind of you know, star games
- 17:18Speaker 1: here and there. Antonio Johnson, who's had some very impressive role,
- 17:23Speaker 1: impressive plays on defense, after maybe not a great season
- 17:26Speaker 1: last year, we didn't know what he could be. We
- 17:28Speaker 1: always knew these athletic here with the pick six, not
- 17:31Speaker 1: that anything was ever in jeopardy at this point, but
- 17:33Speaker 1: then you're kind.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Of like, all right, everybody's going to do it today,
- 17:35Speaker 2: we got it.
- 17:35Speaker 5: Antonio Johnson started the season as a special teams player.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Remember they signed Eric Murray and then they drafted Caleb Brandsaw.
- 17:44Speaker 5: They didn't see Antonio Johnson in this role, and they
- 17:47Speaker 5: gave him the opportunity. And this year under Anthony Campanealy,
- 17:51Speaker 5: he finishes with a career high five interceptions, and that
- 17:55Speaker 5: was a great play.
- 17:56Speaker 4: It blew it open.
- 17:57Speaker 5: But he finished the game last week, you know, with
- 17:59Speaker 5: then interception as well.
- 18:00Speaker 4: He's a momentum player.
- 18:02Speaker 5: He delivers hits in the run game, he delivers quarterback
- 18:05Speaker 5: pressures when they've sent him in the pass rush, and
- 18:07Speaker 5: he delivers takeaways when he's had the opportunity. This year,
- 18:11Speaker 5: he is a great example of the player who was
- 18:13Speaker 5: here last year, who didn't have a role, who was
- 18:16Speaker 5: an unknown when training camp began and became something special.
- 18:20Speaker 5: He's a big part of what they do on defense.
- 18:22Speaker 7: Yeah kay, he said it wasn't in doubt. This is
- 18:24Speaker 7: a moment's league, and it's fourteen to seven there on
- 18:27Speaker 7: the other side of the fifty. I don't think the
- 18:30Speaker 7: Titans win that game. But if they score there and
- 18:33Speaker 7: make it fourteen to ten, it's not the happiest celebration
- 18:38Speaker 7: dance in the rain game. I mean, it's so that
- 18:41Speaker 7: play was big and Antonio he catches the ball, which
- 18:47Speaker 7: not all defensive backs do, and he's caught the five interceptions.
- 18:53Speaker 6: Forty years ago that wasn't a lot.
- 18:54Speaker 7: Five interceptions in the NFL these days is a lot
- 18:56Speaker 7: of interceptions.
- 18:57Speaker 6: He's had a really impressive season.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Three of those I think are on the last defensive
- 19:01Speaker 1: plays of the football game, which is.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Kind of like calling game.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You're like Texans game, Remember picked up my ball and
- 19:06Speaker 1: go home? So pretty cool moments there as well. And
- 19:09Speaker 1: then of course we have to talk about Cam Little,
- 19:10Speaker 1: who already owns the NFL's longest field goal record.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Indoors is Brian as you mentioned now he owns.
- 19:15Speaker 1: The outdoors as well, and it's just so funny because
- 19:18Speaker 1: he lines up at this point and.
- 19:18Speaker 2: You're like, oh, yeah, it's almost an gimme it. Feel well.
- 19:21Speaker 5: I wonder what Mike McCoy was thinking when he decided
- 19:24Speaker 5: on fourth down.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Especially because he knows better than anybody I can't do that.
- 19:28Speaker 4: I mean, you just listen.
- 19:30Speaker 5: When you see this, you think, well, that's three points
- 19:33Speaker 5: and from sixty seven yards away. I'm not sure at
- 19:36Speaker 5: what year, whether it was last year or this year
- 19:38Speaker 5: that we decided that that is that scoring territory in.
- 19:42Speaker 4: The NFL, whether you the Cowboys.
- 19:44Speaker 5: With Brandon Awberry or the Jaguars with Cam Little, but
- 19:47Speaker 5: I thought, Mike.
- 19:48Speaker 4: What are you doing? You should at least punted.
- 19:50Speaker 5: You're gonna give them three points and then outtrots Cam
- 19:53Speaker 5: and sixty seven yards. So what probably my favorite moment
- 19:55Speaker 5: of the game yesterday, just because it's been that kind
- 19:58Speaker 5: of a season where you've had spec fun plays, whether
- 20:01Speaker 5: it was the seventy yarder that he kicked in the
- 20:02Speaker 5: preseason or the sixty eight yard er in Vegas.
- 20:05Speaker 4: This was like, oh, yeah, this might be our year.
- 20:08Speaker 6: It's a good thing they didn't cut him.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember when everyone wants to bring someone.
- 20:11Speaker 6: In that's just calm down.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Patience is not a virtue in this league. Well, it
- 20:17Speaker 5: is a virtue, people just don't see it as one.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yes, I'm very happy they were patient with him, patient
- 20:22Speaker 1: with him for those couple of weeks earlier in this And.
- 20:24Speaker 7: Apparently apparently there's a better kicker out there because you're
- 20:27Speaker 7: not in the Pro Bowl.
- 20:28Speaker 4: But is it the guy of Baltimore.
- 20:29Speaker 7: I don't know who it is too, maybe but it
- 20:33Speaker 7: might have been a miss.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Well, we'll see if they can have the Pro Bowls.
- 20:36Speaker 1: We'll see what camp can do in the playoffs for sure.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Stay with us, Hear and jag Zam.
- 20:40Speaker 10: We're gonna tell you what our hot takes are after
- 20:41Speaker 10: the break.
- 20:52Speaker 2: The exam hot takes brought me by fire Huse ups.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And Brian, you like you wanted to mention this, I
- 21:00Speaker 1: thought we'd show the footage. This is when the Internet
- 21:02Speaker 1: comes to life. I don't know if you guys have
- 21:04Speaker 1: seen the AI image of Trevor with grills and well
- 21:08Speaker 1: now he's got real girls. I'm sure Marissa was in
- 21:11Speaker 1: on this as well, because I don't know how he got.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Molds for his teeth. But the defense gifting a set
- 21:15Speaker 2: of grills.
- 21:16Speaker 1: To Trevor, Lawrence and Austin. If that's not a good
- 21:19Speaker 1: omen for the playoffs, I don't know what is.
- 21:21Speaker 2: John. If we win, I'll get you set.
- 21:23Speaker 7: To I don't know that Sherry would be able to locate.
- 21:26Speaker 4: I'll talk to you and he's sort.
- 21:27Speaker 7: Of sizing for my teeth. So that's impressive stuff. But
- 21:30Speaker 7: it's it's again. There are memories and moments like you're
- 21:33Speaker 7: about to say, it's a moment that make you realize,
- 21:37Speaker 7: you know, you can't fake it and you can't invent
- 21:41Speaker 7: this sort of camaraderie.
- 21:43Speaker 6: It has to come from, you know, a.
- 21:45Speaker 7: Year's worth of these guys being together and genuinely liking
- 21:47Speaker 7: each other.
- 21:47Speaker 5: Well, you can see it if you go back and
- 21:49Speaker 5: watch it. You see an Anton Harrison, who's over Trevor's
- 21:51Speaker 5: left shoulder. You just see the look of pure joy
- 21:53Speaker 5: on his face. And the other thing is the way
- 21:56Speaker 5: that this team has rallied around him, the way that
- 21:58Speaker 5: they believe in him.
- 22:00Speaker 6: It is I believe in him too.
- 22:01Speaker 5: I've not seen that in the Jaguars locker room since
- 22:05Speaker 5: nineteen ninety six.
- 22:06Speaker 2: All right, Brian, what's your hot take for US today?
- 22:08Speaker 4: One at us to reference nineteen ninety six.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Again, this football team is playing so well on every
- 22:14Speaker 5: side of the ball. Your kicker just kicked a sixty
- 22:17Speaker 5: seven yard field goal. Your run defense hasn't allowed a
- 22:20Speaker 5: running back to run for more than seventy five yards
- 22:23Speaker 5: in a single game all season, and your quarterback is playing.
- 22:27Speaker 4: At the top of the National Football League. As John said,
- 22:30Speaker 4: an MVP level. Listen.
- 22:32Speaker 5: That is not a formula for maybe the Jaguars can
- 22:34Speaker 5: do it. It's a formula for the Jaguars can do it.
- 22:36Speaker 5: And I say, why not go get it done. They
- 22:39Speaker 5: have the number one run defense and this week, John,
- 22:42Speaker 5: they get the number one rushing offense in football. The
- 22:45Speaker 5: Bills come in here having passed the Baltimore Ravens yesterday
- 22:48Speaker 5: at one fifty nine point four rushing yards per game,
- 22:52Speaker 5: So it's just about right half they the Jaguars give
- 22:57Speaker 5: up eighty five. They they run for one man. Let's
- 23:01Speaker 5: see what this thing does. I think the Jaguars are
- 23:04Speaker 5: a team that is well, let's put this way. They're
- 23:06Speaker 5: not the front runner in the AFC. That's the Denver
- 23:08Speaker 5: Bronco because the number one seed. But I'm not sure
- 23:10Speaker 5: there's a better team in the AFC than this one.
- 23:13Speaker 6: The AFC is can be a dogfight.
- 23:14Speaker 7: I don't know if the jag Wars will win it,
- 23:16Speaker 7: but there's four or five teams that can, and they're
- 23:18Speaker 7: one of them. Look, this thing can end in a hurry.
- 23:22Speaker 7: It's why my hot take is very cool. Now forget
- 23:25Speaker 7: about it, which they will. I mean, the division's cool.
- 23:28Speaker 7: I mean the season has been cool. All those videos
- 23:31Speaker 7: are cool. It can be over Monday morning. Yeah, and
- 23:35Speaker 7: when it ends in this league, it ends fast. And
- 23:38Speaker 7: that's why.
- 23:41Speaker 6: We've all talked about it on this show.
- 23:43Speaker 7: The eight games they had to win to get here,
- 23:46Speaker 7: they're used to this. They're playoff tested. They've beaten two
- 23:50Speaker 7: playoff teams during that streak. They beat the Colts twice.
- 23:53Speaker 7: They're a good team. And now I meant Trevor talked
- 23:58Speaker 7: about in the podium, you got to go win it
- 24:01Speaker 7: and have another chance. And it's about who's playing the best,
- 24:05Speaker 7: and this team has a chance.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Drag Wars are I think playing at the top of
- 24:07Speaker 5: the AFC. The one thing you've got as a quarterback
- 24:09Speaker 5: in Josh Allen. People may have seen a couple of
- 24:11Speaker 5: weeks ago they were down thirty five to seven to
- 24:13Speaker 5: the Patriots were the number two seed on the road
- 24:15Speaker 5: in New England, and they came back and won. They
- 24:17Speaker 5: have five wins this year where they're down two touchdowns
- 24:20Speaker 5: they come back.
- 24:21Speaker 4: So this is going to be a nail bier all
- 24:23Speaker 4: the way.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Jaguars have won the last five or six games by
- 24:26Speaker 5: what nineteen point one points.
- 24:28Speaker 4: That's not happening this week.
- 24:29Speaker 7: And but this is the This is the best situation
- 24:35Speaker 7: the Jaguars have ever had going into the playoffs. And
- 24:37Speaker 7: I know they had two home games in ninety nine,
- 24:39Speaker 7: but eight straight games going in they have momentumumber ninety eight.
- 24:43Speaker 7: They got there, but they sort of, you know, lost late,
- 24:46Speaker 7: lost to the Titans late. There was questions about, you know,
- 24:49Speaker 7: in ninety nine snuck in in twenty two eight games
- 24:53Speaker 7: in a row with a win over that number one seed,
- 24:56Speaker 7: they should be considered a favorite along with the Patriots
- 24:59Speaker 7: and the Broncos.
- 25:00Speaker 1: John, I think you made a good point about kind
- 25:02Speaker 1: of enjoying this but moving forward, because I felt like
- 25:05Speaker 1: the team was on that page. Because there's sometimes when
- 25:07Speaker 1: you see when someone wins a division and there's celebration,
- 25:10Speaker 1: as there should be, but they're not just happy to
- 25:12Speaker 1: be there. There was very much Okay, cool, we're happy
- 25:14Speaker 1: we won as we expected.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Now what's next.
- 25:18Speaker 1: And that's a good spot to be to see they're
- 25:20Speaker 1: not just happy to be in the playoffs.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Yeah, and.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Every team would say that in that situation, But.
- 25:28Speaker 6: I don't know how to express it.
- 25:29Speaker 4: You just felt it.
- 25:30Speaker 1: There's a vibe you can feel for sure. I We've
- 25:31Speaker 1: been around enough teams that I felt that for sure.
- 25:34Speaker 1: It was excitement, yes, but okay, we got to we'll
- 25:37Speaker 1: get back to work. And there's other places where it's
- 25:39Speaker 1: just excitement to be a part of it.
- 25:41Speaker 7: It has the feel, Brian of a team that's been
- 25:44Speaker 7: there before, even though it sort of hasn't. But I
- 25:48Speaker 7: guess there are players in this locker room who you know,
- 25:51Speaker 7: who were there in twenty two when they won and
- 25:54Speaker 7: then lost, and they're in twenty three when it fell apart.
- 25:57Speaker 7: So I do kind of think we forget that a
- 26:00Speaker 7: lot of these guys have had this, have touched this
- 26:04Speaker 7: kind of experience before, and that may be giving them
- 26:07Speaker 7: perspective that fans don't realize they have.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Let me bring back a term from February intangibly rich.
- 26:14Speaker 5: The Jaguars are intangibly billionaires right now. I mean in
- 26:18Speaker 5: that locker room. You have so many things going their way.
- 26:22Speaker 5: You felt it all in the video with Liam, the
- 26:24Speaker 5: video with Jarian, over this eight game stretch to watch
- 26:28Speaker 5: and to listen to these players, and then I felt
- 26:30Speaker 5: it as I walked through the families last night as
- 26:32Speaker 5: they were celebrating together. The intangibles around this football team
- 26:36Speaker 5: are at an all time high, and I think the Jaguars, Brass, Tony, James,
- 26:43Speaker 5: and Liam will understand how to harness that because they
- 26:47Speaker 5: have all been involved with these kinds.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Of late season runs, even if their players haven't.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Tony with the Jaguars, and James and Liam with the
- 26:55Speaker 5: Rams and the Buccaneers.
- 26:57Speaker 7: I think, which you can get lost too kind many
- 27:00Speaker 7: to delay your fiery hot take. They've got all this,
- 27:04Speaker 7: They've got a lot of things going, They've got the
- 27:06Speaker 7: defense playing very well. I got a lot of questions
- 27:10Speaker 7: last night, why does this feel real?
- 27:12Speaker 6: Sixteen?
- 27:14Speaker 1: And that leads right into my take, which is this
- 27:17Speaker 1: team will go as far as Trevor will take them,
- 27:21Speaker 1: and that for me means in the past three years,
- 27:24Speaker 1: never Trevor hater by Eddy means.
- 27:26Speaker 2: But I was waiting to see it.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I wasn't here for that twenty two run, I didn't
- 27:28Speaker 1: get to see him do those crazy magical things. And yes,
- 27:31Speaker 1: he's been banged up, so there's some stuff in between there.
- 27:34Speaker 1: But these past two months is the Trevor Lawrence that
- 27:36Speaker 1: I think we all knew he could be, and he's
- 27:39Speaker 1: been consistently for a good amount of time now, and
- 27:42Speaker 1: this team has won games because of what Trevor Lawrence
- 27:45Speaker 1: has done and I'm not sure that he's done that
- 27:47Speaker 1: consistently before. So now, when you have a defense that's
- 27:50Speaker 1: playing as well as they've been playing, a special teams
- 27:52Speaker 1: that can be complimentary to your team, and a quarterback
- 27:55Speaker 1: that can win you football games, that's what's going to get.
- 27:58Speaker 2: It done in the playoffs.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And at no point do I feel that they're going
- 28:01Speaker 1: to be deficient in that, even going up against Josh
- 28:05Speaker 1: Allen and the Bills. And we'll talk more about that
- 28:07Speaker 1: this week. But Trevor Lawrence can go out there and
- 28:09Speaker 1: win you a regular season game and a playoff game.
- 28:12Speaker 5: And I don't know if people pay enough attention to
- 28:13Speaker 5: the little mechanics of a football game, the way that
- 28:15Speaker 5: he gets a team to the line of scrimmage, the
- 28:17Speaker 5: way that he gets in and out of the huddle,
- 28:19Speaker 5: but I see it on the practice field every week,
- 28:21Speaker 5: and he has john claimed control of this thing. I mean,
- 28:26Speaker 5: they don't show video of it practices, practice, but the
- 28:29Speaker 5: way that he steps out of the huddle head get
- 28:30Speaker 5: in here, and the way that he commands at the
- 28:33Speaker 5: line of scrimmage is so different that it was even
- 28:35Speaker 5: early this year.
- 28:36Speaker 4: It was never that way in twenty two. Kai.
- 28:38Speaker 5: He is a different player in the sense that he
- 28:41Speaker 5: feels this is his and his teammates have given.
- 28:44Speaker 4: It to him and they're following him.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 7: I don't mean to keep eating his drum, but I
- 28:49Speaker 7: guess I do. If you only looked at the sea.
- 28:54Speaker 7: He's the most valuable player in the NFL over the
- 28:57Speaker 7: last two months of the season. Yeah, he's the best
- 28:59Speaker 7: player in the NFL right now. And I don't necessarily
- 29:04Speaker 7: I keep getting emails when's it gonna end?
- 29:07Speaker 6: Why do I trust this?
- 29:08Speaker 4: Look?
- 29:08Speaker 7: I don't care why you trust it anymore. This is
- 29:10Speaker 7: what he is and uh, I'm not looking ahead. But
- 29:15Speaker 7: he's only he's only known Liam Cohen for like ten months. Yeah,
- 29:19Speaker 7: how good is this gonna look? As he goes forward?
- 29:21Speaker 7: Because they have a core around him, So look out.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Actually comfortable together and seeing this grow. It's gonna be
- 29:28Speaker 1: fun to see it in the postseason for the first time.
- 29:30Speaker 2: To say with the sun.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Jagzam will tell you what's coming up this week as
- 29:32Speaker 1: we get ready for the playoffs.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Jag Vam brought to you today by Hynday.
- 29:43Speaker 1: We're here in the Hundai Studios and this Sundays now
- 29:47Speaker 1: that we know playoff game gonna be brought to you
- 29:49Speaker 1: by dailies, it's nicer here. There's tickets out there, go
- 29:52Speaker 1: and get them because a lot of them are already gone.
- 29:54Speaker 2: And this place is going to be rocking on Sunday afternoon, and.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Everyone that is not held by a Jaguars fan, it
- 30:00Speaker 5: will be held by a Bills fan.
- 30:01Speaker 4: They will fill your building if you don't.
- 30:04Speaker 5: So the home field advantage that Josh talked about earlier
- 30:07Speaker 5: in this show is it will be a huge difference maker.
- 30:11Speaker 4: So we need people there.
- 30:12Speaker 7: And this kind of goes without saying, but most people
- 30:16Speaker 7: watching this have been to a playoff game. If you
- 30:18Speaker 7: happen not to have been too a playoff game, even
- 30:22Speaker 7: the jaded old sports rider in me will tell you
- 30:25Speaker 7: they're different. There's a different energy to it and that
- 30:28Speaker 7: stadium is fun to be in during a playoff game.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Little Florida Sunday afternoon weather.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I mean, I don't feel like I need to convince
- 30:36Speaker 1: anybody because she's going to be awesome. And we'll talk
- 30:38Speaker 1: more later in the week. But going up against the Bills,
- 30:42Speaker 1: who have Josh Allen against Trevor Lawrence, who we know
- 30:45Speaker 1: has been playing amazing, this could be a cool quarterback
- 30:47Speaker 1: battle too.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it'd be great. I just read this morning.
- 30:50Speaker 5: Josh Allen's never won a road playoff game, so they
- 30:52Speaker 5: are used to playing at home. They won five in
- 30:54Speaker 5: a row in the first round. They've won a playoff
- 30:57Speaker 5: game in the last five seasons consecutive, but they've all
- 31:00Speaker 5: been at home. So you get him on the road
- 31:04Speaker 5: and listen, he's great, but Trevor has The numbers are
- 31:09Speaker 5: almost the same. He's got twenty five touchdowns and ten interceptions.
- 31:13Speaker 5: And what Trevor finished with twenty seven touchdowns twenty eight, yeah,
- 31:18Speaker 5: twenty nine and nine rushing ran for nine.
- 31:21Speaker 6: So look, he's.
- 31:24Speaker 7: This is absolutely a game where if Trevor goes out
- 31:28Speaker 7: and outplays Josh Allen, that's not what it's about. But
- 31:31Speaker 7: that's what National media likes to latch onto there's no
- 31:35Speaker 7: reason that Jay Wars don't win this game. There's also
- 31:38Speaker 7: any reason the Bills on win this game. It's that
- 31:39Speaker 7: sort of game.
- 31:40Speaker 5: And as I mentioned earlier, they run for one hundred
- 31:42Speaker 5: and sixty yards a game, So we're taking the number
- 31:44Speaker 5: one runt defense and putting it up against the number
- 31:47Speaker 5: one run offense.
- 31:47Speaker 4: That alone is worth the price of admission.
- 31:50Speaker 1: And the stat I've been hammering all week it felt
- 31:52Speaker 1: like last week that they haven't allowed one hundred yard rusher.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I believe per our stats, they haven't allowed a seventy
- 31:57Speaker 1: five yard rusher.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Dalthn Taylor got close seventy four.
- 32:00Speaker 5: The only two seventy yard performances were both Jonathan Taylor,
- 32:03Speaker 5: who was one of the best runners in the league
- 32:05Speaker 5: this year.
- 32:05Speaker 6: But this kid Cook is good.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You can do it.
- 32:08Speaker 1: So that's gonna be something we'll look at later this
- 32:10Speaker 1: week as well. But for now, enjoy this victory Monday,
- 32:13Speaker 1: eighth in a row as we had into the playoffs.
- 32:15Speaker 2: We'll see you back here on jag Zam later this week.
