- 2:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:42SPEAKER_09: Does it like hurt?
- 2:43SPEAKER_09: Like when you move it?
- 2:44SPEAKER_12: It di this hurts.
- 2:45SPEAKER_09: That's why just moving it like this hurts.
- 2:47SPEAKER_12: No, no, like trying to move it up and out like this.
- 2:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:50SPEAKER_12: I can't do that.
- 2:51SPEAKER_12: Oh I mean, I can do this.
- 2:52SPEAKER_12: And that's your snare hand too.
- 2:53SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 2:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:55SPEAKER_12: Oh no, this is my snare hand.
- 2:56SPEAKER_12: Oh wait.
- 2:57SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, you're right.
- 2:58SPEAKER_09: That's the that's almost more important.
- 3:00SPEAKER_12: Almost, but that's why I was that's why I was asking you that uh, you know, because we got a gig coming up at the end of the month.
- 3:06SPEAKER_09: At the end of the month.
- 3:07SPEAKER_09: So hopefully you'll have time to figure something out.
- 3:10SPEAKER_09: Figure something out, yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_12: I do have that that p hydraulic pedal.
- 3:15SPEAKER_09: That you could uh yeah, okay.
- 3:17SPEAKER_12: I do.
- 3:17SPEAKER_12: I it just it I'm not crazy about it, but maybe I can't have to figure something out.
- 3:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_09: So but maybe it'll heal by then.
- 3:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I mean I don't I don't think it's broke.
- 3:28SPEAKER_12: I think it's just a ligament thing because it because it hurts to move.
- 3:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_12: I mean, this this doesn't hurt.
- 3:33SPEAKER_12: Like I I can wiggle my fingers.
- 3:34SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 3:35SPEAKER_12: Doesn't hurt.
- 3:35SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 3:36SPEAKER_12: You know, as like trying to pick something up or trying to.
- 3:38SPEAKER_09: You're not moving your wrist though, right?
- 3:40SPEAKER_12: So it but it's like it's like here and here.
- 3:44SPEAKER_12: You know, it's like it's like a ligament.
- 3:46SPEAKER_12: It feels like a leg.
- 3:47SPEAKER_12: Like Dr.
- 3:47SPEAKER_12: Macharya doesn't think it's broke, but he's just he he ordered the x-rays just because well, for you know, being overly cautious, you know, because that's just how he is.
- 3:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_12: You know, so he's fun.
- 3:58SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:59SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, he is.
- 4:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_09: I know him well.
- 4:02SPEAKER_09: I haven't talked to him in a long time, actually.
- 4:04SPEAKER_12: I like I love going in there and just making him laugh.
- 4:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I know it's fun.
- 4:07SPEAKER_09: He's funny.
- 4:08SPEAKER_12: I just he's got the best laugh because it's like a whole body laugh.
- 4:11SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_12: You know, because I what did I tell him?
- 4:14SPEAKER_12: He he said something about me.
- 4:15SPEAKER_12: He's like, he's like, because when I told him about the wrist, he's like, I'm really surprised you told me about that wrist, because you know, Marines don't, you know, admit when they're hurt.
- 4:24SPEAKER_12: I was like, you know, I was like, Dr.
- 4:26SPEAKER_12: Richard, there's a lot going on.
- 4:27SPEAKER_12: I'm like a duck in water, you know, on the surface, it looks all calm, and then I was like, underneath the surface, everything going like that.
- 4:33SPEAKER_12: He friggin' lost it.
- 4:35SPEAKER_12: I was like, Yeah, I can understand that.
- 4:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he's a great guy.
- 4:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_09: Um, okay, a couple things to talk about.
- 4:44SPEAKER_12: I was you know what I was thinking about on the way home from work.
- 4:47SPEAKER_12: Please tell me.
- 4:48SPEAKER_12: I was I was thinking about Maddie for some reason.
- 4:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah?
- 4:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:51SPEAKER_12: I hadn't thought about him in a while, so I was like, I was like, because I was thinking about I don't know, I don't know how I got on the thought of it.
- 4:58SPEAKER_12: It just popped in my head.
- 5:00SPEAKER_12: And I was like, I hope we never get to the point where we forget about Maddie.
- 5:05SPEAKER_09: You know, I th I am to the point where I forget about milestones.
- 5:13SPEAKER_09: Like um like in November it would have been how long?
- 5:17SPEAKER_09: Thirteen years.
- 5:18SPEAKER_09: Thirteen years.
- 5:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_09: And um I don't forget the day because it was like the day before the day.
- 5:28SPEAKER_09: It was the day after Eli's birthday.
- 5:30SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 5:30SPEAKER_09: Uh so I'll never forget the day it happened.
- 5:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 5:34SPEAKER_09: But keeping up with boys, that was 13 years ago.
- 5:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_09: You know, that type of thing.
- 5:38SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I forget.
- 5:40SPEAKER_09: I forget his birthday all the time.
- 5:42SPEAKER_09: You know, if I see if I see um Mama Lynn post something, you know, I'll I'll obviously comment it, but I forget it all the time.
- 5:49SPEAKER_09: But I forget everything, too.
- 5:51SPEAKER_09: So I you know, it's it's nothing, you know, but yeah, I I agree.
- 5:56SPEAKER_09: I I hope we never get to that point.
- 5:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:59SPEAKER_12: Um I mean we did all those those uh benefit concerts for a scholarship.
- 6:06SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 6:06SPEAKER_12: But we only did like a five or six was it four, four.
- 6:10SPEAKER_09: I don't think it was five, I think it was like four.
- 6:11SPEAKER_12: Four, okay, yeah.
- 6:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and it became self-sustaining.
- 6:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah, which is good.
- 6:16SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:16SPEAKER_12: But I was like the farther away you go you know, away from it, yeah, the less you remember.
- 6:26SPEAKER_09: It's true.
- 6:27SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 6:28SPEAKER_12: Like if we tried to re you know, try to redo it, I don't think we'd have quite the No, I don't think so either.
- 6:35SPEAKER_09: You know.
- 6:36SPEAKER_09: I that well, because it's Because the first one was like four months after he passed.
- 6:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:42SPEAKER_09: And and that was huge.
- 6:44SPEAKER_09: It was fresh.
- 6:44SPEAKER_09: It was huge.
- 6:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and it was huge.
- 6:46SPEAKER_12: And it was huge.
- 6:46SPEAKER_12: I mean, there were so many people and we raised so much money.
- 6:49SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_12: And then every year it was still big, but it wasn't quite as big as before.
- 6:54SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 6:54SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 6:55SPEAKER_09: We should put this in context because you know, if you're if you're listening to us for the first time, by the way.
- 7:01SPEAKER_21: What?
- 7:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:03SPEAKER_09: I don't understand.
- 7:04SPEAKER_09: Hey Singapore, how's it going?
- 7:05SPEAKER_09: So uh I was just telling showing Doug that we had a a bunch more downloads.
- 7:09SPEAKER_09: Uh it's gotta be back catalogs last week.
- 7:12SPEAKER_09: It's gotta be.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_09: Um, but if you're wondering what we're talking about, our dear friend uh Matt Turnbull, who was with us on the radio as Nameless the intern, and became part of our band.
- 7:25SPEAKER_09: He was he was uh a roadie.
- 7:27SPEAKER_09: Um uh more than a roadie, really.
- 7:30SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 7:31SPEAKER_09: But we used to you know, we used to pick on him all the time, but we loved him dearly, like a brother.
- 7:37SPEAKER_09: And uh he was in a car accident thirteen years ago in November and uh lost his life.
- 7:42SPEAKER_09: And so it was it really affected us, and his parents started a uh found or a um uh scholarship fund, which we as a band um raised money for for a number of years.
- 7:56SPEAKER_09: So just I just wanted to put that in context in case anybody's hearing that for the first time.
- 7:59SPEAKER_12: So yeah, um I don't know why, but it popped in my head and I was like, man, I hope we I hope we never get to the point where we forget about Maddie.
- 8:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 8:12SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 8:13SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 8:14SPEAKER_12: I mean, I mean I know I won't because I got it tattooed here.
- 8:18SPEAKER_12: Yep, you know, so I'm like, oh yeah, you know, it's always there.
- 8:21SPEAKER_12: But that you know, that we don't, you know, we keep, you know, occasionally bringing him up and talking about him.
- 8:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 8:28SPEAKER_12: You know, so like that.
- 8:29SPEAKER_09: Um I found uh I don't think I told you this.
- 8:33SPEAKER_09: I found the lyrics to um what was the name of the song?
- 8:40SPEAKER_12: Pig bleeper.
- 8:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 8:42SPEAKER_09: I found the lyrics.
- 8:43SPEAKER_09: Did you find I did I did?
- 8:45SPEAKER_09: They're in they're in this pile down here.
- 8:47SPEAKER_12: Yes, finally, man.
- 8:49SPEAKER_09: So when we do eventually get into some sort of recording situation, we gotta record that.
- 8:53SPEAKER_09: We gotta record that.
- 8:54SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 8:54SPEAKER_09: We we have to.
- 8:55SPEAKER_17: Yep.
- 8:55SPEAKER_09: Uh and that was written as like a an Irish drinking song.
- 9:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:01SPEAKER_09: That was kind of the feel of it.
- 9:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:02SPEAKER_09: And so that that'll be.
- 9:04SPEAKER_12: I think we've only performed it once or twice.
- 9:06SPEAKER_09: Once or twice.
- 9:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:08SPEAKER_09: And but I think I'd like to get it recorded um and especially given to his parents while they're still around.
- 9:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:18SPEAKER_09: Um because that was classic.
- 9:20SPEAKER_12: That was great.
- 9:20SPEAKER_09: That was classic.
- 9:21SPEAKER_12: So great.
- 9:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:22SPEAKER_09: So yeah.
- 9:24SPEAKER_09: Uh we miss you, Maddie.
- 9:26SPEAKER_09: Uh thanks for bringing them up.
- 9:29SPEAKER_12: Well, I was like I said, I was thinking about them and I was like, hey, you know what?
- 9:33SPEAKER_09: You know what I've been doing too?
- 9:35SPEAKER_09: Point at me?
- 9:36SPEAKER_09: Well, that too.
- 9:37SPEAKER_09: Um I can point too.
- 9:39SPEAKER_09: I've been listening, you know, because uh, you know, I have Spotify.
- 9:45SPEAKER_09: Uh and Common Crossing is on Spotify.
- 9:48SPEAKER_09: And my youngest was in the car with me this morning.
- 9:53SPEAKER_09: And one of our songs came on.
- 9:57SPEAKER_09: Midnight Girl.
- 9:58SPEAKER_09: And she started singing the chorus.
- 10:00SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 10:02SPEAKER_09: Nice.
- 10:02SPEAKER_09: And I was like, you know the song?
- 10:04SPEAKER_09: She's like, Yeah.
- 10:05SPEAKER_09: She says, But can you put it on band in the baby blue van?
- 10:10SPEAKER_09: And I said, sure.
- 10:12SPEAKER_09: And then she's like, Of course, this is my wife's favorite song.
- 10:15SPEAKER_09: You're the band in the baby blue.
- 10:18SPEAKER_09: It's my wife's favorite song.
- 10:19SPEAKER_09: Well, it's uh Favorite one of ours.
- 10:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but uh I was thinking uh Thina and Pete, their youngest daughter, Angela.
- 10:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_12: It's her favorite song, too.
- 10:26SPEAKER_12: Is it really?
- 10:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah, which I was like, what?
- 10:28SPEAKER_12: Uh, you know I don't know why.
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: I don't know why.
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: It blows me away that people are like, oh, I love that song.
- 10:33SPEAKER_12: But I I get it because it's a fun song.
- 10:36SPEAKER_12: It is.
- 10:37SPEAKER_12: Um can I just play?
- 10:38SPEAKER_12: And it's all it's mostly true.
- 10:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah, mostly true.
- 10:42SPEAKER_09: What's not true about it?
- 10:44SPEAKER_12: Taking up two lanes.
- 10:45SPEAKER_09: I don't think I don't think we took up one lanes.
- 10:47SPEAKER_09: Well, that's probably true.
- 10:48SPEAKER_09: Uh I want to play it.
- 10:51SPEAKER_09: Uh, should I should I play the record version or the 2001 version with just you and I?
- 10:56SPEAKER_12: Now play the play the album version.
- 10:58SPEAKER_09: Play the album version?
- 10:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 10:59SPEAKER_12: That's a really good version.
- 11:01SPEAKER_09: Let's see.
- 11:02SPEAKER_09: Where is it her?
- 11:03SPEAKER_09: There it is, right there.
- 11:05SPEAKER_09: Um, because I you know, I hadn't heard it in such a long time.
- 11:11SPEAKER_09: Uh and I I love our album.
- 11:15SPEAKER_09: It's a good album.
- 11:16SPEAKER_09: It's a song-wise, it's a great album.
- 11:18SPEAKER_09: Um production wise, it's it Matt did a great job.
- 11:21SPEAKER_09: Um I would have done a lot of things differently in retrospect uh on my part.
- 11:27SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_09: Um but you're always gonna have that.
- 11:30SPEAKER_12: Oh, absolutely, I know.
- 11:31SPEAKER_12: There's always gonna be a Monday morning quarterback.
- 11:33SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, thing.
- 11:34SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 11:35SPEAKER_09: Let's see.
- 11:38SPEAKER_09: Let's turn it on.
- 11:50SPEAKER_05: We hadn't been together for long.
- 11:53SPEAKER_05: When the drummer walked in with a smile on his face, he said, Rush up on your cover songs, cause we gotta geek downstairs.
- 12:05SPEAKER_05: We didn't have a lot of geek, but we had enough to know.
- 12:11SPEAKER_05: What's that?
- 12:12SPEAKER_05: Does it seem thinner than normal?
- 12:13SPEAKER_05: Sorry, it's a little bit sad.
- 12:15SPEAKER_05: I'm sorry, boys.
- 12:16SPEAKER_05: I've only got one left.
- 12:44SPEAKER_09: You know what one of the differences is?
- 12:46SPEAKER_09: Um, I'm doing the harmony part on there.
- 12:49SPEAKER_09: And on the part that has uh just you and I.
- 12:53SPEAKER_09: Uh this one.
- 12:56SPEAKER_09: Wendy is singing.
- 12:58SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 13:01SPEAKER_05: We haven't been together for long.
- 13:04SPEAKER_05: Pretty close.
- 13:05SPEAKER_05: It's pretty close.
- 13:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's not fine.
- 13:06SPEAKER_09: It's a little faster.
- 13:08SPEAKER_09: It's a little faster.
- 13:09SPEAKER_09: You recorded this your drums in my basement.
- 13:11SPEAKER_19: You gotta get that.
- 13:13SPEAKER_09: This basement, right?
- 13:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_19: We didn't have a lot of things.
- 13:16SPEAKER_09: That's a pretty good drum sound.
- 13:18SPEAKER_09: I mean, it actually is.
- 13:18SPEAKER_09: It sounds comparable to the the other one, yeah.
- 13:23SPEAKER_09: I think we just used like SM58.
- 13:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's a little faster.
- 13:34SPEAKER_09: It is a little faster, yeah.
- 13:37SPEAKER_09: Alright, now maybe it's maybe maybe it's the uh guitar still that I'm hold on.
- 13:47SPEAKER_07: I do I like to fight our move.
- 14:14SPEAKER_07: I was listening to this this morning, I'm like, uh, not do, but would have done a different link.
- 14:26SPEAKER_09: Maybe that's the part right there that that that bugs me.
- 14:29SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 14:29SPEAKER_09: Uh, because on the version that you and I did.
- 14:33SPEAKER_09: You're right, it looks bad.
- 14:37SPEAKER_09: So this doesn't have any.
- 15:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_12: Back and forth.
- 15:13SPEAKER_09: We will think it did it on that version.
- 15:18SPEAKER_09: That little dodo, that little arpeggiated thing.
- 15:21SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 15:21SPEAKER_09: But I guess it does.
- 15:22SPEAKER_09: So I guess I don't know.
- 15:24SPEAKER_09: Pretty pretty closely.
- 15:25SPEAKER_09: I'm crazy.
- 15:26SPEAKER_09: I'm crazy.
- 15:28SPEAKER_09: But anyway, yeah, I'm excited to tackle some new stuff.
- 15:31SPEAKER_12: I just every every time I listen to our album, I think about stuff like when we recorded it.
- 15:36SPEAKER_12: You know, how much how much it was a lot of fun.
- 15:38SPEAKER_12: I mean, it was a lot of work.
- 15:39SPEAKER_12: It was.
- 15:39SPEAKER_12: I mean, we were there for three days and we were there for Intense days, yeah.
- 15:43SPEAKER_12: I mean, we got there on a Friday morning, we almost like instantaneously started recording.
- 15:50SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 15:50SPEAKER_12: We did the basic tracks and basic tracks, and then the next day, I mean, the I think s we went on a Friday and then Saturday was our longest day.
- 15:58SPEAKER_12: I think we did like 14 hours or something.
- 16:00SPEAKER_14: Something like that, yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_12: And then Sunday we did probably close to 10?
- 16:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:06SPEAKER_12: Friday, I think we did I don't know.
- 16:11SPEAKER_09: Eight, ten hours?
- 16:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:12SPEAKER_09: I think we could done it like was it eight or nine at night?
- 16:16SPEAKER_12: Something like that.
- 16:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:17SPEAKER_12: Because we had to check into the hotel and stuff.
- 16:19SPEAKER_12: We hadn't done that and stuff like that.
- 16:20SPEAKER_12: So yeah.
- 16:21SPEAKER_12: But I remember I had to re-record all the drum parts a couple months later.
- 16:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and I you told me why.
- 16:27SPEAKER_09: And is it just because Well, it was Maddie.
- 16:29SPEAKER_09: It was he they didn't line up or what?
- 16:31SPEAKER_09: He just wanted the he just wanted a different sound.
- 16:34SPEAKER_09: So he had you re-record the whole thing?
- 16:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I had to I had to do every song.
- 16:38SPEAKER_12: Did you play it to your old drums?
- 16:40SPEAKER_12: I played it to the song.
- 16:41SPEAKER_09: You played it.
- 16:42SPEAKER_09: Did he take out your drums?
- 16:43SPEAKER_09: I don't rem I think he did.
- 16:45SPEAKER_09: So he took out your drums and you could hear everything else.
- 16:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_09: And you just played it along.
- 16:49SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:49SPEAKER_09: Wow.
- 16:50SPEAKER_12: That's I remember doing that.
- 16:51SPEAKER_12: It took like I remember I had to go down.
- 16:53SPEAKER_12: I uh it was a Saturday.
- 16:54SPEAKER_12: I had to work till like noon and then I drove down there, so I got there like three o'clock ish.
- 17:00SPEAKER_12: And I didn't leave there till like nine.
- 17:02SPEAKER_09: I know I think um I think Shane went in.
- 17:06SPEAKER_12: Shane went in again and did uh I think I don't think I didn't you go back down?
- 17:10SPEAKER_12: I don't remember going back down, but maybe I did.
- 17:13SPEAKER_12: But I I don't think you did because Finn was born like a week after we had recorded, and so this is I I I was listening to this one, uh, the guitar solo in this song.
- 17:27SPEAKER_09: And I think this might be because I don't remember doing this.
- 17:30SPEAKER_09: I think this beautiful man wheel.
- 17:35SPEAKER_12: Well, I I remember it in the beginning with the the guitar with the the acoustic.
- 17:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 17:40SPEAKER_12: You can hear the that's you tapping your foot because you were recording the acoustic guitar in the drum in the drum room.
- 17:48SPEAKER_09: That's right, yeah.
- 17:48SPEAKER_12: And so it was really like for some reason it was really you tapping your foot was really loud in there.
- 17:58SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:00SPEAKER_09: Um so this so listen to this rhythm guitar.
- 18:09SPEAKER_09: Hear it?
- 18:10SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 18:11SPEAKER_09: I don't remember recording that.
- 18:12SPEAKER_09: I may have, but I almost think how much I almost think Shane chained it.
- 18:17SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 18:18SPEAKER_07: I love what it's hard.
- 18:24SPEAKER_07: Great Harmony's there.
- 18:33SPEAKER_09: Nate?
- 18:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:34SPEAKER_09: Nate was there, yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_09: And that was great that Nate was there.
- 18:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was awesome.
- 18:38SPEAKER_09: And he actually did uh um he did some well, he did what on Like a Gypsy, what you always do.
- 18:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_09: And there was something else that he he ha uh He did a couple different things.
- 18:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah Um Yeah, anyway.
- 18:56SPEAKER_09: I I've been listening to it and I just I mean I can't wait to um I want to put some new music out.
- 19:01SPEAKER_09: Me too.
- 19:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 19:02SPEAKER_09: Me too.
- 19:03SPEAKER_09: I really do.
- 19:04SPEAKER_09: Um all right.
- 19:06SPEAKER_09: Let's uh let's go on.
- 19:08SPEAKER_09: Speaking of new things, new music.
- 19:10SPEAKER_09: Did you see this?
- 19:14SPEAKER_12: It's a 5150.
- 19:15SPEAKER_09: It is a 5150.
- 19:16SPEAKER_09: Stravaganza box set, yes.
- 19:18SPEAKER_09: Van Halen.
- 19:19SPEAKER_09: You know, they they did the revamping of um the for unlawful uncarnal knowledge album.
- 19:24SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 19:25SPEAKER_09: They did balance.
- 19:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 19:26SPEAKER_09: I don't know that they've done OU812 yet.
- 19:28SPEAKER_09: They should.
- 19:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah, they they definitely should.
- 19:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 19:31SPEAKER_09: Because that needs it.
- 19:32SPEAKER_17: Definitely.
- 19:33SPEAKER_09: But they are releasing 5150, the very first Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar.
- 19:39SPEAKER_09: Uh one of the things that bothers me about the Van Halen camp when they put when they put stuff together like this.
- 19:47SPEAKER_09: And they say, We're releasing these with all these extras.
- 19:52SPEAKER_09: Well, all of these extras are available in other places.
- 19:57SPEAKER_09: Um there might be a couple on here that that might be I don't, I don't know, worth it.
- 20:04SPEAKER_09: Um the remastered 5150 probably is worth it because I'm I'm thinking that it's a bigger sound and louder and oh, I don't hope so, yeah.
- 20:12SPEAKER_09: Um but what they've included in this package, it's the uh 5150 expanded edition.
- 20:19SPEAKER_09: It's three uh it's an LP three CDs Blu-ray collection.
- 20:24SPEAKER_09: Includes remastered versions of the original album uh as well as 90 minutes of previously unreleased live recordings from the band's New Haven concert.
- 20:34SPEAKER_09: Um Live Without a Net show?
- 20:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, well, uh I would think, right?
- 20:39SPEAKER_09: Because but they're releasing Live Without a Net with it as well.
- 20:42SPEAKER_09: Oh, they are.
- 20:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 20:43SPEAKER_09: Oh so it it might be a different show, but in New Haven, because remember they called New Haven New Halen.
- 20:49SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 20:49SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 20:50SPEAKER_09: Um so here's what you get.
- 20:52SPEAKER_09: Um well the LP is just the uh is just the album remastered.
- 20:58SPEAKER_09: The C D package is the album remastered, disc one.
- 21:03SPEAKER_09: And then disc two, best of both worlds, a single edit.
- 21:08SPEAKER_09: In other words, a shorter version that they put out to radio.
- 21:13unknown: Okay.
- 21:14SPEAKER_09: Dreams, a single edit.
- 21:16SPEAKER_09: Which just means the guitar solo is cut in half.
- 21:19SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 21:20SPEAKER_09: Love Walks In, single edit.
- 21:22SPEAKER_09: Same thing.
- 21:23SPEAKER_09: Why can't this be Love?
- 21:24SPEAKER_09: Extended version.
- 21:27SPEAKER_09: I think I don't know what that means, but that might be worth the price of admission.
- 21:31SPEAKER_17: Right.
- 21:31SPEAKER_09: Dreams, extended version.
- 21:34SPEAKER_09: I don't know what that means.
- 21:36SPEAKER_09: Best of both worlds live, rock and roll live, and Love Walks In Live, I'm assuming from Live Without a Net.
- 21:43SPEAKER_09: This is on a CD.
- 21:44SPEAKER_17: Right.
- 21:44SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 21:45SPEAKER_09: They're also releasing Disc 3, New Haven Veteran Memorial Coliseum from 1986, which has you know uh basically the things that you would find on Live Without a Net, except this one includes wild.
- 22:00SPEAKER_09: Thing.
- 22:00SPEAKER_09: They did a version of Wild Thing.
- 22:03SPEAKER_09: And then Blu-ray, Live Without a Net.
- 22:06SPEAKER_09: HD upgrade, promo video from Dreams, and a promo video for Why Can't This Be Love?
- 22:11SPEAKER_09: Now, that all sounds great.
- 22:14SPEAKER_09: Just like the Balance reissue.
- 22:18SPEAKER_09: They released a bonus material, a song called Crossing Over.
- 22:23SPEAKER_09: The two songs from the Twister soundtrack.
- 22:26SPEAKER_09: They're all available.
- 22:27SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 22:28SPEAKER_09: So they're not really bonus, it's just all in one package, that's all.
- 22:31SPEAKER_09: I want.
- 22:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah, those those two uh Twister songs were on the twist of Yeah, exactly.
- 22:39SPEAKER_09: So why are you releasing them here?
- 22:41SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 22:41SPEAKER_09: There are so many Hagar songs on YouTube, Hagar with Van Halen, that never got released.
- 22:49SPEAKER_09: They were like demos.
- 22:50SPEAKER_09: Have you ever heard those?
- 22:51SPEAKER_09: Any of those?
- 22:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 22:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 22:52SPEAKER_09: Why not finish one of those and put those on there?
- 22:55SPEAKER_09: Probably because it's Hagar.
- 22:57SPEAKER_09: It could be.
- 22:59SPEAKER_09: You know, I don't know.
- 23:01SPEAKER_09: But who am I kidding?
- 23:03SPEAKER_09: I'm probably gonna get it.
- 23:04SPEAKER_17: Wow.
- 23:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 23:06SPEAKER_12: I mean, naturally.
- 23:07SPEAKER_12: Right?
- 23:08SPEAKER_12: I just can't wait for the uh Van Halen 3 reissue.
- 23:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I hope it's good.
- 23:18SPEAKER_12: Like a whole new album.
- 23:22SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 23:23SPEAKER_09: New songs and everything.
- 23:25SPEAKER_09: You know, I feel bad for Gary Sharone.
- 23:28SPEAKER_09: I do too.
- 23:28SPEAKER_09: Gary is awesome, and for all intents and purposes, was a great lead singer for Van Halen.
- 23:35SPEAKER_09: It just didn't.
- 23:36SPEAKER_12: But it would just, it was like, you know, it was like you got Van Halen, and you got Gary Sharone.
- 23:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 23:45SPEAKER_12: And you're they're both great, and then you put them together, and then it's like Yeah.
- 23:50SPEAKER_09: You know, I I kinda Eddie was not in a good place.
- 23:54SPEAKER_09: And I kind of chalk it up to that.
- 23:56SPEAKER_09: But with Gary Sharone, and and I mean this kind of like um well you had so here you have David Lee Roth.
- 24:09SPEAKER_09: And then here you have Jimmy Hager.
- 24:11SPEAKER_09: David Lee Roth, great showman, yeah, very athletic.
- 24:15SPEAKER_09: Um then Jimmy Hager, also a great showman, could sing anything.
- 24:21SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_09: Did you notice that well like when Gary Sharon would do a Van Halen concert?
- 24:30SPEAKER_09: He could sound like Sammy and he could sound like Roth.
- 24:34SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 24:34SPEAKER_09: It was like I mean on paper, it should work.
- 24:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_09: Uh because he can handle the back both back catalogs and whatever they come up with together.
- 24:46SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 24:46SPEAKER_09: So it's like the the best of both worlds.
- 24:48SPEAKER_09: Literally.
- 24:49SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 24:49SPEAKER_09: Literally.
- 24:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 24:50SPEAKER_12: It just Yeah, for some reason, it just did it just didn't melt.
- 24:54SPEAKER_12: And I and I chalk it up to uh It's one of the great mysteries.
- 24:57SPEAKER_12: It's up there with like Roswell, Bigfoot, right, Loch Ness, Van Halen 3.
- 25:03SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 25:04SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 25:04SPEAKER_12: It's one of the they should be talking about this on Unsolved Mysteries.
- 25:08SPEAKER_12: It's true.
- 25:08SPEAKER_12: It's true.
- 25:09SPEAKER_12: It should have worked.
- 25:10SPEAKER_12: I'm waiting for Lawrence Fishburne to have it on History's Greatest Mystery.
- 25:13SPEAKER_09: I blame Eddie.
- 25:14SPEAKER_12: Why didn't Van Halen 3 work?
- 25:17SPEAKER_12: I blame that we we and Chris I'd love to see them like interview like David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, just put them in a room together.
- 25:28SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 25:28SPEAKER_12: Well, they went on tour together.
- 25:30SPEAKER_12: You remember that?
- 25:30SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_12: But I'd like actually, you know what'd be even better.
- 25:34SPEAKER_12: David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, Gary Sharon, all in the same room.
- 25:38SPEAKER_09: All in the same room.
- 25:39SPEAKER_12: And then they like in and then they're like, hey, Gary, your album sucks.
- 25:43SPEAKER_12: And he's like, I know.
- 25:47SPEAKER_09: And I honestly, I think those songs could have been.
- 25:50SPEAKER_12: I think if it done a different way, they could have been really great.
- 25:53SPEAKER_12: But it seemed like they just like didn't care.
- 25:56SPEAKER_09: And and uh like I said, Eddie was all over the place.
- 26:00SPEAKER_12: And I think that's probably why it didn't work, is because Eddie was just like he was not in a good headspace, it was not good physical space.
- 26:08SPEAKER_09: No.
- 26:08SPEAKER_09: So I And even like um the the song that they released, Without You, I think they released a couple songs, but the the the first single Without You uh almost sounded like extreme.
- 26:20SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 26:20SPEAKER_09: Uh with Eddie on guitar, but it was too much uh Eddie.
- 26:28SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:29SPEAKER_09: He he did too much.
- 26:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:30SPEAKER_09: It was busy, you know, and and I don't know.
- 26:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it just you know, I just like to think what could have been.
- 26:37SPEAKER_12: I mean, that could have been a great album.
- 26:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 26:39SPEAKER_09: Really could have been a great album.
- 26:39SPEAKER_09: I think it's I think it could have been too.
- 26:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:41SPEAKER_09: Um, moving on, sad news.
- 26:44SPEAKER_09: Uh, but it it it got me a chance to reminisce.
- 26:49SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, the lead singer of uh Three Dog Nights Chuck Negron passed away.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Jeremiah was a gold frog! Was a good friend of mine.
- 27:03SPEAKER_09: Do you know somebody was uh posted this because of Chuck Negron dying, the number of hits that they had surpassed I'm gonna say it wrong.
- 27:21SPEAKER_09: Surpassed the Beatles?
- 27:22SPEAKER_09: No, that's not right.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: Not right, never.
- 27:26SPEAKER_09: But people forget how big these guys were.
- 27:30SPEAKER_12: I think that they're very underrated, they're very forgotten about.
- 27:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 27:36SPEAKER_09: But all their stuff is great.
- 27:38SPEAKER_09: It's awesome.
- 27:39SPEAKER_09: And you know it, it's like the fabric of you know, the musical landscape, you know.
- 27:45SPEAKER_12: You've heard all these songs, but maybe you don't know who did it.
- 27:49SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 27:49SPEAKER_12: But you've heard all these songs.
- 27:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, here's Shambhala.
- 28:19SPEAKER_22: One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do.
- 28:26SPEAKER_22: Two can be as bad as one.
- 28:30SPEAKER_22: It's the loneliest numbers is the number one.
- 28:34SPEAKER_09: Uh I mean, these are all just one right after another.
- 28:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_09: This is written by Randy Newman, actually.
- 28:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you can kinda tell.
- 28:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you can't.
- 28:49SPEAKER_09: But they kinda make it their own.
- 28:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 28:50SPEAKER_20: What's some of this crazy question they're asking me?
- 28:54SPEAKER_20: This is the craziest body that could ever be.
- 28:58SPEAKER_09: Did you know?
- 29:05SPEAKER_09: It's on here, it's not on here.
- 29:12SPEAKER_09: Of course, this one.
- 29:14SPEAKER_09: It's an old-fashioned love song.
- 29:15SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 29:16SPEAKER_09: Uh this one.
- 29:18SPEAKER_10: We lunge up into Spain.
- 29:23SPEAKER_10: But I kinda like the music.
- 29:26SPEAKER_09: We always make fun of well, don't make fun of, but we when uh when Eli's making his way home.
- 29:34SPEAKER_22: This is Eras coming.
- 29:40SPEAKER_09: Eli's coming hide your heart, girl.
- 29:42SPEAKER_14: Elizabeth.
- 29:47SPEAKER_09: And slipping away.
- 29:49SPEAKER_09: Celebrate.
- 29:50SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 29:50SPEAKER_09: All just classic tunes.
- 29:53SPEAKER_09: What I was gonna show you.
- 29:56SPEAKER_09: I think you knew this, but I'm gonna tell you anyway.
- 30:14SPEAKER_09: Maybe you didn't know this, and if I if you didn't know this, I'm I'm happy to um inform you.
- 30:20SPEAKER_09: This one whoever invented this to me deserved.
- 30:22SPEAKER_09: No, we don't want a commercial.
- 30:26SPEAKER_09: We want this.
- 30:31SPEAKER_09: This was on one of the greatest hits packages called Sure as I'm sitting here.
- 30:55SPEAKER_12: You know who wrote it?
- 30:56SPEAKER_12: No.
- 30:57SPEAKER_12: No, you didn't.
- 30:58SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 30:59SPEAKER_12: I don't even think I've heard this song.
- 31:01unknown: Get them all before you die.
- 31:04SPEAKER_20: Show is upset here.
- 31:07SPEAKER_09: Uh once I play it, I think you'll.
- 31:20SPEAKER_09: Is that Hyatt?
- 31:21SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:22SPEAKER_09: What album's that?
- 31:24SPEAKER_09: Hanging around the observatory.
- 31:26SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 31:26SPEAKER_09: Early 70s.
- 31:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:30SPEAKER_04: Show it down 7.
- 31:32SPEAKER_09: Wow.
- 31:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was one of his early cuts.
- 31:36SPEAKER_09: He he written the song and he gave it to Three Dog Knight.
- 31:38SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 31:40SPEAKER_12: So I think I heard this on his anthology.
- 31:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah, probably.
- 31:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:44SPEAKER_09: Probably, yeah.
- 31:45SPEAKER_09: Alright, so uh, yeah, uh, rest in peace, Chuck Negron.
- 31:48SPEAKER_09: Uh he was uh 83 years old.
- 31:51SPEAKER_09: He had a long history.
- 31:52SPEAKER_09: I don't think this is this he didn't die of this, surprisingly, but he had a long history of addiction problems.
- 31:57SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 31:57SPEAKER_09: Um but uh I I'm pretty sure that's not how he passed.
- 32:03SPEAKER_09: Uh I don't think it said did it say how he passed?
- 32:06SPEAKER_09: Oh, he he battled heart failure.
- 32:08SPEAKER_09: Oh he had uh lung disease and CLPD for several decades.
- 32:12SPEAKER_09: Which of course could have been caused by some of his substance abuse issues.
- 32:17SPEAKER_09: But uh so yeah, rest in peace, Chuck Negron.
- 32:20SPEAKER_09: Got some new music to listen to.
- 32:22SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 32:23SPEAKER_09: Oh, because yeah, was it Sunday?
- 32:26SPEAKER_09: Sunday was uh no, yeah, Sunday was a full moon.
- 32:28SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 32:29SPEAKER_09: Yes, so we have a new Peter Gabriel song.
- 32:31SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah!
- 32:32SPEAKER_09: Yes, here we go.
- 32:34SPEAKER_09: Uh so this is from his OI album.
- 32:37SPEAKER_09: Uh this one is called Put the Bucket Down.
- 32:41SPEAKER_09: Uh let's see.
- 32:43SPEAKER_09: Put the bucket down.
- 32:44SPEAKER_09: Peter Gabriel.
- 32:45SPEAKER_12: So he's just he's just it's you know, you don't you just you can shake your head and you just be like, oh, that's Peter.
- 32:51SPEAKER_09: He's he's a unique individual.
- 32:53SPEAKER_12: Very tribal.
- 33:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 33:02SPEAKER_12: Ooh.
- 33:12SPEAKER_09: Kind of dig it.
- 33:17SPEAKER_11: Will the door begin with a dog in the hand?
- 33:26SPEAKER_11: What is the crack and the bottom water?
- 33:51SPEAKER_10: I'm coming to build.
- 34:45SPEAKER_09: I gotta say.
- 34:47SPEAKER_12: Is this a light cut or a dark dark side?
- 34:52SPEAKER_12: I know he's got the two different versions of this is a bright side.
- 34:59SPEAKER_12: Bright side.
- 35:00SPEAKER_09: Uh I gotta say, out of all the songs that we've heard uh in the past, I don't know how long, this is my favorite.
- 35:06SPEAKER_09: This is really good.
- 35:07SPEAKER_09: It keeps because it keeps my attention because it's the there's different different Well you you you're what you're wondering where he's gonna go next.
- 35:13SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 35:14SPEAKER_09: And and there's different melodic textures, like the verses one way, and then there's like a pre-chorus, and then there's a a bigger chorus.
- 35:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 35:22SPEAKER_09: Which I think is what you're in, you know, ultimately is what you want.
- 35:26SPEAKER_09: And some of the other things that we've heard uh from him have been very Peter Gabriel, yeah, but not as uh innovative.
- 35:36SPEAKER_09: Innovative or interesting.
- 35:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 35:37SPEAKER_12: Um well I shouldn't say interesting, because it is interesting, but um this one is it tends to be kind of like the same thing over and over and over again.
- 35:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah, like a like it gets I mean it's d I mean it starts off, you're like, hey, this is interesting, but it just then it just it doesn't go anywhere.
- 35:51SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 35:51SPEAKER_09: He gets a groove and he kind of sticks with the with the groove.
- 35:54SPEAKER_09: And this one, yes, there is a groove, but there's different melodic things going on.
- 35:58SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 35:58SPEAKER_09: So it's pretty cool.
- 35:59SPEAKER_09: I like it.
- 36:00SPEAKER_09: Uh uh that one uh called Put the Bucket Down.
- 36:04SPEAKER_12: Uh so that's kind of I don't understand the title, but I don't either.
- 36:07SPEAKER_09: Um Whatever! I don't know that it it it explains what the song is about.
- 36:12SPEAKER_09: It just explains how it was recorded.
- 36:14SPEAKER_09: Oh, I'm sure yeah um well maybe it does.
- 36:19SPEAKER_09: I'm working on a show with the brain as the central core, and there are a number of songs uh that will be part of that.
- 36:26SPEAKER_09: This is one of those, and it's a point in the narrative where we can both read and write thoughts, and the person singing is not sure whether he has his own thoughts or not.
- 36:36SPEAKER_09: Is he inside his own mind or inside someone else's?
- 36:39SPEAKER_09: The bucket is all the crap that goes around our head all the time.
- 36:43SPEAKER_09: So it's putting the bucket down to find your way forward.
- 36:49SPEAKER_12: A lot of a lot of mumbo jumbo.
- 36:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but uh yeah, yeah.
- 36:52SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 36:52SPEAKER_09: Put the bucket down, Peter.
- 36:55SPEAKER_12: Put the beer down, Peter.
- 36:57SPEAKER_09: I don't know that Peter drinks beer.
- 36:59SPEAKER_09: I would think Peter.
- 37:01SPEAKER_09: I think Peter's a wine guy.
- 37:02SPEAKER_12: I think he does.
- 37:04SPEAKER_09: I think that too, but you know, I don't know.
- 37:08SPEAKER_09: Uh Roger Taylor from Queen has a new song.
- 37:12SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, I heard about this song.
- 37:14SPEAKER_09: Oh, oh, you did?
- 37:15SPEAKER_09: Oh, I didn't.
- 37:16SPEAKER_09: Uh yeah, I'm not impressed.
- 37:19SPEAKER_09: Have you heard the song?
- 37:20SPEAKER_09: Oh, is this I don't I don't want to hear the song.
- 37:22SPEAKER_09: Is this anti-America?
- 37:24SPEAKER_09: Is this what is this what this is?
- 37:26SPEAKER_09: It's called Chumps.
- 37:27SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 37:28SPEAKER_09: Okay, so we don't even wanna.
- 37:30SPEAKER_09: Oh yes.
- 37:31SPEAKER_09: Okay, this is political.
- 37:32SPEAKER_09: We're not doing political stuff.
- 37:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we're not doing political.
- 37:34SPEAKER_09: So I just saw the headline and I was gonna Yeah.
- 37:38unknown: Yeah.
- 37:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I saw this la last night and I was like, eh.
- 37:43SPEAKER_12: Tweets our own.
- 37:44SPEAKER_09: I'm not gonna We're not gonna partake.
- 37:46SPEAKER_09: We're not gonna go there.
- 37:47SPEAKER_09: We're I was going to, but we're you know, now that I know what it you know not that I know what it's about, but the fact that it's political, I don't want to go there.
- 37:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 37:54SPEAKER_09: Because when we get political, we whisper.
- 37:56SPEAKER_09: And I don't think the song's gonna whisper.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna have to be like this all the time.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna do it.
- 38:04SPEAKER_09: Uh anything else, or do you want to move on to the throne?
- 38:08SPEAKER_09: Shall we?
- 38:09SPEAKER_09: I got none.
- 38:10SPEAKER_09: You got none?
- 38:11SPEAKER_09: I got none! Alright, well let's do uh because I should have this prepared, but I don't.
- 38:18SPEAKER_21: Uh I think it's delightful.
- 38:22SPEAKER_21: Delightful.
- 38:23SPEAKER_21: Delightful.
- 38:31SPEAKER_09: There we go.
- 38:32SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 38:33SPEAKER_09: What are we talking about?
- 38:34SPEAKER_09: We're talking about poorly explained movies.
- 38:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah! 80s edition.
- 38:39SPEAKER_21: The 80s.
- 38:41SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna pick three.
- 38:44SPEAKER_09: And who knows, maybe we'll get on a roll and I'll just keep going.
- 38:47SPEAKER_09: Maybe.
- 38:49SPEAKER_12: Maybe, maybe.
- 38:50SPEAKER_09: That one maybe, maybe.
- 38:51SPEAKER_09: That one you will know.
- 38:55SPEAKER_09: Uh that one you will know, but I almost think we did that one.
- 39:02SPEAKER_09: I could be wrong.
- 39:04SPEAKER_09: Um you might not know that one.
- 39:10SPEAKER_09: I do want to do a couple that are challenging for you.
- 39:13SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 39:14SPEAKER_09: You'll know that one.
- 39:17SPEAKER_09: So I've got, is that four or three?
- 39:23SPEAKER_09: Oh, I don't know about that one.
- 39:25SPEAKER_09: I've got three that I think you'll know.

- 39:28SPEAKER_09: I'll I'll pick three that you I think you'll know and then one that I don't think you will.
- 39:32SPEAKER_18: Okay.
- 39:33unknown: Uh.
- 39:35SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 39:39SPEAKER_09: Just because it's more fun that way.
- 39:42SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 39:43SPEAKER_09: You ready?
- 39:44SPEAKER_09: I'm ready.
- 39:46SPEAKER_09: Let me cough for a second.
- 39:54SPEAKER_09: Thanks.
- 39:55SPEAKER_09: How's Cavery?
- 39:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 39:57SPEAKER_09: Um, alright.
- 40:01SPEAKER_09: Uh.
- 40:04SPEAKER_09: Hmm.
- 40:05SPEAKER_09: I don't know if you'll get this one.
- 40:07SPEAKER_09: You you probably I think you know this movie.
- 40:10SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 40:11SPEAKER_09: Uh, but it is a poorly explained.

- 40:18SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 40:19SPEAKER_09: Uh a girl cuts up a gift from her dad.
- 40:27SPEAKER_09: Let me know if you want the hint.

- 40:37SPEAKER_09: It is not.
- 40:39SPEAKER_12: She's friends with a duck.
- 40:41SPEAKER_09: More more precise.
- 40:43SPEAKER_09: Ducky.
- 40:45SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 40:46SPEAKER_09: Pretty and pink.
- 40:47SPEAKER_09: It is pretty and pink.
- 40:48SPEAKER_09: Ding ding ding.
- 40:50SPEAKER_09: She cuts up a she cuts up a gift.
- 40:53SPEAKER_12: Oh, yes.
- 40:55SPEAKER_12: Her father gave her a dress to wear to prom.
- 41:02SPEAKER_12: It was kind of lame in her eyes, so she.
- 41:04SPEAKER_12: So what she does is she puts her seamless and she makes it worse.
- 41:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:10SPEAKER_12: Because the end product is terrible.
- 41:12SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 41:12SPEAKER_12: I'm sorry.
- 41:13SPEAKER_12: I love that movie.
- 41:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:14SPEAKER_12: I absolutely love that movie, but that dress is hideous.
- 41:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:17SPEAKER_12: But don't they make it out to be like it's it's oh, everybody's like, oh, it's the best.
- 41:22SPEAKER_12: You know, I'm like, this is this is I could make a better dress out of duct tape.
- 41:29SPEAKER_12: Um I love that movie.
- 41:31SPEAKER_12: It's a great movie.
- 41:32SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 41:34SPEAKER_09: Here's number two.
- 41:37SPEAKER_09: Blaine?
- 41:38SPEAKER_09: A man.
- 41:39SPEAKER_12: It's not a name, it's a major appliance.
- 41:41SPEAKER_09: A man comes back from the dead twice.
- 41:49SPEAKER_12: Man comes back from the dead twice.
- 41:55SPEAKER_12: What's that?
- 41:57SPEAKER_09: He's a pirate.

- 42:05SPEAKER_09: I'm telling you.
- 42:07SPEAKER_09: This is I would not get it.
- 42:10SPEAKER_09: A man comes back from the dead twice.

- 42:21unknown: He's a pirate.
- 42:22SPEAKER_09: Want me to give you another clue?
- 42:24SPEAKER_12: Is there another clue?
- 42:24SPEAKER_12: No, there's not another clue.
- 42:25SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 42:26SPEAKER_09: You want me to give it to you?
- 42:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 42:27SPEAKER_09: The director of this movie just passed away.

- 42:53SPEAKER_09: The Dread Pirate Roberts.
- 42:55SPEAKER_09: Wesley.
- 42:56SPEAKER_09: Wesley, that's what I was looking for.
- 42:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 42:58SPEAKER_12: Everybody says it's Wesley, but it's not.
- 43:00SPEAKER_12: It's Wesley.
- 43:02SPEAKER_12: Is it really?
- 43:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah.

- 43:14SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 43:14SPEAKER_09: Without the clue.
- 43:15SPEAKER_09: Without the clue?
- 43:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah.

- 43:28SPEAKER_09: This is the one.
- 43:30SPEAKER_12: You know what's fun about war games?
- 43:31SPEAKER_12: What's that?
- 43:32SPEAKER_12: When they're in the uh the big the bunker there.
- 43:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 43:35SPEAKER_12: You notice that Loring Air Force Base is prominently displayed in that movie.
- 43:40SPEAKER_09: Because weren't we, wasn't wasn't the strategic air command that is that was Loring Air Force Base, wasn't it one of the first targets?
- 43:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 43:47SPEAKER_12: Like if there was it was if there was Loring Air A lot of people don't know this, but Loring was Loring was the closest air base in the continental US to the Soviet Union.
- 43:57SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 43:57SPEAKER_12: So it was gonna get hit.
- 43:58SPEAKER_09: The first one of
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: The first places to get hit in a nuclear attack.
- 44:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 44:02SPEAKER_12: That's why we were always doing air ray drills as kids.
- 44:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 44:07SPEAKER_12: Because we were basically in the blast zone.
- 44:10SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 44:10SPEAKER_12: So.
- 44:11SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 44:12SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 44:13SPEAKER_09: Um.
- 44:14SPEAKER_12: What did I watch?
- 44:15SPEAKER_12: I was watching a YouTube video about uh main uh main lore, and they were talking about the UFO incident in 1975 of this whatever buzzing uh Loring Air Force Base.
- 44:32SPEAKER_12: Uh-huh.
- 44:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:33SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 44:33SPEAKER_12: It was interesting.
- 44:35SPEAKER_09: Um, do you think there's like stuff still at Loring?
- 44:38SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 44:38SPEAKER_09: Like what stuff?
- 44:40SPEAKER_12: I'm not sure, but there's something still there.
- 44:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 44:43SPEAKER_09: Like in the ground?
- 44:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:44SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 44:46SPEAKER_12: It's not something where you're gonna be able to get to it easy.
- 44:48SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 44:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:49SPEAKER_12: But I I I'm almost positive there's stuff still there.
- 44:53SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 44:53SPEAKER_12: Just in case.
- 44:54SPEAKER_12: You would think there would have to be.
- 44:55SPEAKER_12: I mean, if they were if they were done with it, they would have torn everything up.
- 44:59SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 45:00SPEAKER_12: Including the I mean that that airstrip is still usable.
- 45:05SPEAKER_09: Well the yeah.
- 45:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:07SPEAKER_12: So I mean, it wouldn't take much for them to reactivate it.
- 45:12SPEAKER_12: True.
- 45:12SPEAKER_12: So and they probably did that on purpose.
- 45:14SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 45:15SPEAKER_12: Of course they did.
- 45:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:16SPEAKER_09: Um, all right, last one.
- 45:18SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 45:18SPEAKER_09: This one, um you I think you will not get.
- 45:25SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 45:27SPEAKER_09: Um, two brothers with six fathers try to find their mom.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: No idea.
- 45:42SPEAKER_09: You want the hint?
- 45:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:43SPEAKER_09: They're telepathic.
- 45:46SPEAKER_09: 1988.
- 45:50SPEAKER_09: I gotta say that I don't think I've seen the movie.
- 45:52SPEAKER_09: I know I know of the movie, but I don't think I've seen it.
- 45:55SPEAKER_09: I have no clue.
- 45:56SPEAKER_09: No.
- 45:56SPEAKER_09: Two brothers with six fathers try to find their mom.
- 46:00SPEAKER_09: Okay, so when I tell you the name of it, I want you to try and figure out the explanation.
- 46:04SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 46:05SPEAKER_09: If you've if you've seen it, you maybe you haven't seen it.
- 46:08SPEAKER_09: Uh, it's twins.
- 46:10SPEAKER_09: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
- 46:13SPEAKER_09: Have you seen that movie?
- 46:14SPEAKER_09: I've seen that.
- 46:15SPEAKER_09: I saw it a long time ago, but I don't understand the six fathers.
- 46:17SPEAKER_09: Two brothers with six fathers try to find their mom because they're not really twins, right?
- 46:26SPEAKER_09: Or are they?
- 46:27SPEAKER_09: I've never seen the movie.
- 46:28SPEAKER_12: I can't remember the premise, but they're somehow they're twins.
- 46:31SPEAKER_12: They're like fratern, not identical, of course.
- 46:34SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 46:34SPEAKER_12: But they're fraternal.
- 46:36SPEAKER_09: So they're separated.
- 46:38SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 46:38SPEAKER_09: And so, so uh But I don't understand the six fathers.
- 46:41SPEAKER_09: Annie DeVito has a uh a biological father and a stepfather.
- 46:45SPEAKER_09: Arnold has a biological stepfather and a stepfather.
- 46:48SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 46:48SPEAKER_12: I I don't it that's why I'm confused because the six fathers things that they're telepathic.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: What does that mean?
- 46:55SPEAKER_12: Well, they're telepathic if they can communicate with their minds.
- 46:59SPEAKER_09: Well, I know what telepathic means, but I mean well I don't remember that part.
- 47:02SPEAKER_09: You don't remember that part?
- 47:03SPEAKER_09: No.
- 47:03SPEAKER_09: Two brothers with six fathers try to find their mom and they're telepathic.
- 47:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I never would have got that.
- 47:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:10SPEAKER_21: No.
- 47:11SPEAKER_21: I knew you wouldn't.
- 47:12SPEAKER_21: That's why I picked it.
- 47:13SPEAKER_21: Well, that's a good choice, my friend.
- 47:14SPEAKER_21: Oh, thank you.
- 47:15SPEAKER_21: Okay.
- 47:17SPEAKER_21: Alright.
- 47:18SPEAKER_21: We are a little bit early with this, and it's gonna be a shortened version, but uh not gonna be bad! Let's do it anyway.
- 47:26SPEAKER_16: It's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 47:29SPEAKER_16: With everyone's favorites O'Brien, Doug, cousin Larry, and yours truly, Ms.
- 47:34SPEAKER_16: Judge Ness, Judge Ness, Judge Ness.
- 47:37SPEAKER_16: It's time to play next day.
- 47:40SPEAKER_12: Alright, I don't remember what the question was.
- 47:42SPEAKER_12: This is the summer.
- 47:44SPEAKER_12: Great summer song.
- 47:47SPEAKER_09: Uh best song for the summer at any time from any generation.
- 47:51SPEAKER_09: So we already gave our answers to that, right?
- 47:53SPEAKER_17: Correct.
- 47:54SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 47:56SPEAKER_18: But now we have to see what the judge said.
- 48:01SPEAKER_18: Become the judge, become the judge.
- 48:06SPEAKER_09: But and we didn't pick a question this week, is that right?
- 48:09SPEAKER_09: Correct.
- 48:09SPEAKER_09: Okay, because we're dumb.
- 48:11SPEAKER_12: Cause we're idiots.
- 48:14SPEAKER_12: Okay, this is gonna be really short.
- 48:16SPEAKER_12: She said, uh, my apologies for the abruptness.
- 48:19SPEAKER_12: I'm having well house issues all week.
- 48:21SPEAKER_12: Sounds like well house.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: Like her water.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: All her water.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: So here we go.
- 48:30SPEAKER_15: Hey guys, that was a really fun week of picks from Xcape.
- 48:33SPEAKER_15: I really enjoyed those songs.
- 48:34SPEAKER_15: Doug caught me off guard again with Ice Cube.
- 48:37SPEAKER_14: It's a really awesome song.
- 48:39SPEAKER_15: Um, but I really enjoyed O'Brien's pick, uh Summer of 69.
- 48:43SPEAKER_15: That's just a very iconic song, and I feel like that song, just the wordplay in it, you know, the best days of my life, that's iconic for summer.
- 48:50SPEAKER_15: So definitely had to go with O'Brien this week.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: She's not wrong.
- 48:55SPEAKER_09: No, she's not wrong at all.
- 48:56SPEAKER_09: I picked it.
- 48:57SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 48:58SPEAKER_09: Um again, we all I think we always have uh three pretty good picks.
- 49:03SPEAKER_09: Um but summer summer 69, dude.
- 49:06SPEAKER_09: I mean, yeah, you just can't really go wrong with that.
- 49:08SPEAKER_12: No, it's it's it's iconic.
- 49:10SPEAKER_09: Iconic! So now are we now we gotta pick a new one.
- 49:14SPEAKER_09: Pick a new one.
- 49:14SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 49:15SPEAKER_09: Um I don't know why.
- 49:18SPEAKER_09: Do you do your headphones seem loud?
- 49:20SPEAKER_09: No.
- 49:21SPEAKER_09: Like do we seem like we're overmodulated our voices?
- 49:24SPEAKER_09: Because the the the meters are alright, but everything seems so loud to me.
- 49:27SPEAKER_12: I don't I don't I don't feel that, but maybe it's because you're not not well hundred percent.
- 49:34SPEAKER_09: Uh I don't know.
- 49:36SPEAKER_09: I don't I don't I don't know if that's it.
- 49:38SPEAKER_09: But anyway.
- 49:41SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 49:41SPEAKER_12: This is an interesting one.
- 49:43SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 49:44SPEAKER_12: That was that was quick.
- 49:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I was like, bang! Jumped out of me.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: He's like, pick me, dog, pick me.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.

- 49:55SPEAKER_12: With that card?
- 49:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I know he's stupid.
- 49:58SPEAKER_12: Um what song makes you want to get out, get all of your flannels back out, buy a pair of Doc Martins, and shred some jeans.
- 50:12SPEAKER_12: So I'm assuming it means either punk or grunge.
- 50:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 50:16SPEAKER_12: So you could go either way.
- 50:18SPEAKER_09: The first thing that popped into my head.
- 50:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 50:21SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 50:22SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna go with the first thing that popped into my head.
- 50:23SPEAKER_09: There you go.
- 50:24SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna write it down so I don't forget it.
- 50:25SPEAKER_09: Don't forget! Because I will forget it.
- 50:27SPEAKER_21: And I'm gonna send it to Cousin Larry so I don't forget.
- 50:30SPEAKER_09: Uh let's do this.
- 50:33SPEAKER_09: If I write it down here and then put it over in the corner, do you think I'll remember?
- 50:38SPEAKER_12: If I could save time in a bottle.
- 50:40SPEAKER_09: No, that's not the one I picked.
- 50:42SPEAKER_12: That'd be funny, though.
- 50:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 50:49SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 50:50SPEAKER_09: Ooh, there we go.
- 50:52SPEAKER_09: Uh, so we're gonna take a break.
- 50:54SPEAKER_09: We're gonna come back, and we are going to climb Z Wall of Dunes.

- 51:06SPEAKER_09: We're dumb.
- 51:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 51:07SPEAKER_09: Isn't that what we're calling this episode?
- 51:10SPEAKER_09: Or we're so dumb or something like that.
- 51:12SPEAKER_09: What we've already forgotten.

- 54:15SPEAKER_12: What are we gonna talk about today?
- 54:16SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 54:18SPEAKER_12: Stuff is funny.
- 54:20SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 54:20SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 54:21SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 54:21SPEAKER_12: Well, that'd be Super Bowl this weekend.
- 54:23SPEAKER_21: Oh yes, we haven't talked about that yet.
- 54:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah, so that'll be fun.
- 54:28SPEAKER_12: I think it's gonna be a good game.
- 54:30SPEAKER_12: Looking forward to it.
- 54:32SPEAKER_21: Who do you think's gonna win, Doug?
- 54:35SPEAKER_12: Well, honestly, of course, you know, we're all rooting for the Pats.
- 54:40unknown: Yeah.
- 54:41unknown: Oh no!
- 54:42SPEAKER_12: Because if that does happen, you realize that the Patriots are gonna be the first team in history to win seven Super Bowls.
- 54:50SPEAKER_12: So history could be made this weekend.
- 54:54SPEAKER_09: Um, did you wanna sorry as I look for a CD that I dropped?
- 54:58SPEAKER_09: Did you want to uh uh address the fact that Bill Belichick got overlooked for the Hall of Fame?
- 55:05SPEAKER_09: Did we already talk about that?
- 55:06SPEAKER_09: No, I don't believe we did.
- 55:09SPEAKER_12: It doesn't make any sense to me.
- 55:10SPEAKER_12: I don't know why.
- 55:13SPEAKER_12: I mean, he should go in to the Hall of Fame alone just for coaching the Browns and getting a playoff win.
- 55:24SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 55:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I do.
- 55:26SPEAKER_12: That alone should qualify him.
- 55:28SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 55:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 55:29SPEAKER_12: I mean, come on.
- 55:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I mean, you know, you got six Super Bowls in New England, and he's got two with the Giants, and I mean, yeah, yeah, I mean, I don't understand why he didn't go on the first time.
- 55:43SPEAKER_12: I it doesn't make any sense, it makes no sense.
- 55:46SPEAKER_12: He is the He's one of the winningest coaches in NFL history.
- 55:50SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 55:50SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 55:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 55:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah, somebody mapped it out on Instagram, they were making a joke of it.
- 55:57SPEAKER_09: Uh, and it was it was this coach had this and this is and this coach had this and this this much stuff, and certainly he's gonna go into the Hall of Fame.
- 56:08SPEAKER_09: No, it was I I wish I could tell you uh who it was, but it was quite entertaining.
- 56:14SPEAKER_09: But yeah, the all the stats, uh Bill Bilichick stats, he should have been in a long time ago.
- 56:21SPEAKER_12: Well, I he hadn't retired yet, so you you can only go in a certain time after you retire, but but still, he should it should have been a no-brainer.
- 56:30SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 56:30SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 56:30SPEAKER_12: It should have been a no-brainer, right?
- 56:32SPEAKER_12: And there's people that are like uh But I honestly don't think he really cares.
- 56:36SPEAKER_09: I don't either.
- 56:37SPEAKER_09: There was people boycotting um certain things because of that.
- 56:42SPEAKER_09: Um because it was so stupid.
- 56:44SPEAKER_12: Um what do you what are you gonna boycott?
- 56:46SPEAKER_12: I mean, come on, what do you what do you you're not gonna go to a UN it's UNC game?
- 56:51SPEAKER_09: Well, but no, I think they were they were uh boycotting the NFL or something, they said.
- 56:57SPEAKER_09: Oh, it was like a big name uh Well what does it matter?
- 57:01SPEAKER_12: I mean the season I mean after Sunday season's over.
- 57:04SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 57:05SPEAKER_09: Maybe they're not gonna watch the Super Bowl.
- 57:06SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 57:07SPEAKER_12: Oh, that'd be no that'd be a shame.
- 57:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah, right.
- 57:10SPEAKER_12: Um I mean it really would, because it's gonna be a game, but uh you know, we have to suffer through the halftime show and well you don't have to.
- 57:19SPEAKER_12: Well, no, I'm I'm not.
- 57:20SPEAKER_12: I never do.
- 57:21SPEAKER_12: I I it'd have to be somebody really, really good for me to be like, oh, I'm gonna watch the halftime show.
- 57:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:27SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 57:28SPEAKER_12: It'd have to be like another prince.
- 57:29SPEAKER_12: You know, I had to or you know.
- 57:31SPEAKER_09: I I saw another somebody posted on uh uh Instagram.
- 57:35SPEAKER_09: Um they were talking about how people were upset that Bad Bunny was the halftime show.
- 57:41SPEAKER_09: Uh and then they went on this tirade about how Bad Bunny represents America, he's the number one artist in the world right now.
- 57:49SPEAKER_09: Um blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 57:51SPEAKER_09: And so, you know, talking about how people are upset.
- 57:54SPEAKER_09: And I I don't care that Bad Bunny is the halftime show.
- 57:59SPEAKER_09: The style of music is just not my style of music.
- 58:02SPEAKER_09: That's all.
- 58:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:03SPEAKER_09: I want classic rock artists, or I want, you know, somebody that could well like a couple years ago when they had like Dre and Eminem and all these guys.
- 58:12SPEAKER_12: That was that was a pretty good idea.
- 58:14SPEAKER_09: That was great.
- 58:14SPEAKER_09: And I was I'm not even a hip-hop guy.
- 58:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:17SPEAKER_09: But, you know, I can appreciate that.
- 58:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:19SPEAKER_09: You know, that was uh that was like a reunion, and it was but it was like a big thing.
- 58:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:24SPEAKER_09: You know, and Bad Bunny may be the number one artist in the world, which I'm understanding that he is.
- 58:31SPEAKER_12: I've never heard one song.
- 58:33SPEAKER_12: I don't I couldn't tell you a single song.
- 58:35SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 58:36SPEAKER_09: So and he's got you know all these downloads and all these listen the streaming on Spotify.
- 58:41SPEAKER_09: Again, I don't know who he is.
- 58:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:43SPEAKER_09: And it has nothing to do with the fact that he's uh his you know, his race or or whatever.
- 58:50SPEAKER_09: It's just I don't know who he is.
- 58:52SPEAKER_09: So if I don't know who he is, and I'm a music aficionado, at least I think I am, then why would I watch if I don't know who he is?
- 59:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't I I care less.
- 59:01SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 59:02SPEAKER_12: You know, I'm not gonna tune in.
- 59:04SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 59:05SPEAKER_09: Tuning in is stupid.
- 59:06SPEAKER_09: I dare say that even if they put Springsteen on the halftime show, I would probably watch because I know Springsteen.
- 59:13SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 59:14SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 59:14SPEAKER_09: I may not like what he does, but okay.
- 59:17SPEAKER_09: I would still watch.
- 59:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 59:18SPEAKER_09: Um because I know who he is.
- 59:20SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 59:21SPEAKER_09: Um but Bad Bunny, I have no idea who he is.
- 59:24SPEAKER_09: And it it it Green Day is doing the pregame or something like that.
- 59:29SPEAKER_09: I don't care.
- 59:29SPEAKER_09: I mean, that's cool.
- 59:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah, whatever.
- 59:31SPEAKER_09: Green Day is I like Green Day.
- 59:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Green Day is cool.
- 59:34SPEAKER_09: You know, I have nothing against, you know, it's not necessarily about message and and and and um race or anything like that.
- 59:42SPEAKER_09: Uh my my protest of the halftime show.
- 59:44SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna turn it off because I don't know who he is and I don't want to see.
- 59:47SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 59:48SPEAKER_09: I don't know his music.
- 59:48SPEAKER_09: That's all.
- 59:49SPEAKER_09: I don't have a clue.
- 59:50SPEAKER_12: Um so I just wish I would piss pick somebody that's like universally known.
- 59:57SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 59:57SPEAKER_12: You know, stop this, you know, whatever they've been doing.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean, what they've been doing is they've been um measuring uh popularity.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_09: And Bad Bunny supposedly is the number one artist, and you know, bully for them for for getting the number one artist on their halftime show.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_09: It's just I'm sure that wasn't cheap.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_09: I'm sure it wasn't.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_09: But you know they're gonna make that money back.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_12: Easily.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_09: I have an album.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_09: Now that I surfed it, or you know, I got it out from under it, it fell down.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_09: So I got it out.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_09: So, let the guessing begin.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_09: Is it a band?
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_01: Is it a rock band?
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_09: Pop rock band, but yes, okay.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_21: And yes, I picked this.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_09: Ah, the classic.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_09: However, it is it an exp it is the expanded edition.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_17: Ah, yeah.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_09: It's the twenty fifth anniversary.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_09: So this is uh crack review.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_09: Um, the debut album from Hoodie and the Blowfish.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_09: Debut major label album from Hootie and the Blowfish.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_09: Uh, with all the the songs that were Have you ever seen a na uh copy of Coochie Pop?
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_09: Yes, I have.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_09: Have you?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_09: Like a on a picture of it.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_09: I've seen a picture of it.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I I've always wondered.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_12: I've I've never seen it anyway in any store ever.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah, no, I don't think I think it was a local thing.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_09: I think it was a you know, uh southern, eastern, southeastern uh United States.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_09: Actually, um but of course I bet you could find a copy somewhere.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_09: I th I bet you they probably sell it on their website.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_09: I bet you can get it.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna look at it through the whole So of course Crack Review has all the songs that got killed by radio.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_09: Um first time I remember hearing this, and I think I've told this on the podcast before, uh, I was heading down to Bangor for something, I don't remember what it was.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_09: But WKIT, which was a rock station, um, started playing Hold My Hand.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_09: And I'd never heard anything like it before.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_09: I was like, wow, what is this?
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_09: And then the chorus was just so big.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_09: And I was like, wow, this is pretty cool.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_09: And I said, I have to find out who this is, and I did, and before I knew it, they had Let Her Cry, Only Wanna Be With You, Uh, Time, and uh I think that was it from that for singles from their debut album.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_09: Um, the reason I picked well, not the reason, but I did pick this uh off the shelf.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_09: This was their 25th anniversary.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_09: This has a bonus disc of B-Sides Outtakes pre-LP independent recordings.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_09: So I have a bunch of stuff from Coochie Pop on here.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_09: Um Coochie Pop, of course, was their EP before their major label, before Crack Review.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_09: So you'll you'll have a lot of songs that were like only Wanna Be With You, the the Coochie Pop version.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_09: So it's from their EP.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_09: Um let's see.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_09: Time.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's a 91 version.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_09: Uh sorry's not enough coochie.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_09: Hold my hand, the coochie pop version.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_09: The old man and me, which is from their second album.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_09: Uh they have there's a coochie pop version on here.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_09: Um and then there's some songs that that I had never heard before.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_12: Well, I found Looking for Lucky, which is probably their worst album.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_09: But I can't find Coochie Pop.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_09: On on where?
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_09: Amazon?
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_09: Amazon, yeah.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah, did you look on Hootie's website?
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_09: I have not.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_09: Because I think, I mean, if it's Hootie.com.hootie.com?
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_18: Yeah.com.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_09: If I go to store Wikimedia Media Woody.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_12: If you could uh view all the music for what it's worth.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_12: What is it?
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_09: They did a ver they did a cover for what it's worth.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_12: And I got the lyrics here.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_09: Oh, you can get it.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah, no, it's not here.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_09: Interesting.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_09: Not here.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_09: Um well, incidentally, um I mean I do have some of the let's see.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_09: This is the old man and me.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_09: No, let me do hold my hand.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_09: This is the coochie pop version.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_02: With a little look.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you can tell.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_02: Not quite as polished.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_09: Not quite as polished.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_09: You know, the song is there.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_02: You know, oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_09: But it's still.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_09: And this is like I said, on their second album, they had a hit single with a song called Old Man and Me.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_09: This is from the Coochie Pump released.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_09: But what I like most about this is there are songs on here that have never been released.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_09: And I I I'd never heard them until uh this came out in 2019.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_09: This is called All That I Believe.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_09: See, I mean, I think that's cool.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_09: I like that.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_09: And then there's one called Where Were You?
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_02: Where were you when I needed a friend?
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: Where were you when I kissed my very first girl?
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_02: Haven't seen you for fifteen years now.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_12: Oh, this is about his dad.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_12: I think they I think they talked about the song in the uh in the book.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_12: What book?
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_12: Only want to be with you.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_12: I can't see why I'm watching.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_12: You have that book?
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_01: How come I don't have that book?
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_12: Oh no, no, no, no.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_12: Maybe how come I didn't know that book existed?
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_12: I told you about it.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_12: You did?
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_12: When did you tell me about it?
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_12: Uh probably a month or so ago.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_12: It was written by T uh Tim Tim Cummer?
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_12: He was the Atlantic guy that got him signed to a he was the A and R guy that.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_18: This is old.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_18: Yeah, you tell.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_09: Speaking of, here's another one.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_09: I was just gonna say this is called little girl.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_09: I wasn't sure if this was the toad.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_09: Little girl.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_09: The toadlets brought it up.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_09: It's not though.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_02: Where do you go, little girl?
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_02: Where are you bro?
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_09: Some of them you can understand why maybe they weren't included.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_09: But they're still pretty good.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_09: Cool slice of history.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: Where is let my people go?
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_09: You can hear the missed miss notes in the bottom of that.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_02: What do we call it, my name?
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_02: Well what can you do?
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_02: Will I just stare at you?
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_02: Tell me all in the state.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_09: If you're going my way.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_09: Could have done a whole other album.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_17: Oh yeah.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_02: Save the remote.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_02: Save me.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_02: Tell me that you don't want to go.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_02: Try not to tell you the store.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_09: What did he say?
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_02: No idea.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_02: I'll be there for you.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_02: Don't be afraid to say goodbye.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_09: And here's one called Sorry's Not Enough.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_09: I just think it's a neat little uh snapshot of where you're on where they came from, you know.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_12: Well, they were big into REM.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_12: Uh, you know, all these 80s alternative bands that, you know, and you and you can tell it's reflected in like especially this stuff right here.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_09: Uh Hoodie and the Blowfish Crack Rearview, their debut album, but this is the 25th anniversary edition.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_09: Uh, which is uh disc one is a remastered version of the album, and disc two is B Sides Outtakes Pre-LP Independent Recordings.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_09: So good stuff.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_09: Nice.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_09: We love us some Hoodie.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_12: Uh I I man, every time I listen to Hootie, it always brings me back.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_09: Every time I listen to Hootie, it always makes me want to record more music.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_12: But I was like, you know, because in that book they were always talking about, you know, there was such a backlash against Hootie.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_12: But I don't re I don't remember experiencing that.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_12: Because we used to listen to it all the time.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_12: When that album came out, when we got that album, we played the crap out of it.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_09: I'm I'm telling you, uh even this the next two albums, uh Fairweather Johnson and Musical Chairs.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_09: I loved both of those albums.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, I love all of those albums.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_09: Um it was after Musical Chairs that not that I didn't like what they put out, but it just wasn't the same.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_09: Um there was the self-titled album, there was Looking for Lucky.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_09: Um there was another Scattered Mother.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_09: Well that I liked.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_09: Uh that was all covers.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_09: That was all covers, but it was older stuff too.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_09: You know, like like covers they had done in the past.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_09: So and I like that.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_09: Um but Looking for Lucky had some good songs on it.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_09: Um the the the uh self-titled was.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_09: Do you remember that one?
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was a little hit or miss.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_12: There's some good stuff on it.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, there's definitely some good stuff.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_09: There's good stuff on all of them, but I think my favorite song off that one is that one.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_12: Um Innocence.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_09: Innocence is a good one.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_12: I love that.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_12: That chorus.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_09: Every time that chorus comes on, I'm just like that in here, but maybe I don't know.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's how much I like that album.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_09: It's not in my iTunes.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_09: Not even having it.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_09: Not even in my iTunes.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_09: Um I think am I forgetting an album?
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_12: No.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_12: No.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_12: That's all.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_12: And the the one that just came out of it.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Imperfect Circle, which I thought was great.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_12: That's a that's a very good album.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_09: Um very, very more it's more slick than their other albums.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_12: Well, it was it was it it's very natural.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_09: It is very natural.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_09: Um Yeah.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_09: But I'll always be a hootie fan.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_09: I I just think they're just a bunch of regular guys.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_09: Yep um that like playing music and and uh made their own made their own thing.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_12: Well they I you know, I I credit them for getting us I think so too.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_12: You know, them and bare naked ladies and toad and yeah, you know, all those guys.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_12: Uh you know, getting us into music.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_09: Well, not that getting us into music because I was always into music.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_12: Well, we were always into music by getting a band starting a band.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I think that's starting to play out because we were like, oh, we gotta do this.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_09: Because this album this album came out in ninety four ninety five, yeah.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_09: And we started playing college dorms uh shortly thereafter.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah, right?
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_09: You going around with your broken guitar guitar and playing drums on the broken guitar.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_09: Um yeah, no, I I I think you're right.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_09: I think there's a definite correlation between us starting as a band and and Hootie coming out.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_09: Um a lot of people give them a a hard time and you know because radio did uh did them in really they were all over the place.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_09: And um then Darius went and and did uh well he first he did like a soul album.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_09: Do you remember that?
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_09: Uh which wasn't very successful.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_12: Well, they didn't promote it.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_12: There was something it's in the book, it's in that book also that something happened.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_12: Promoting it and it just it just went nowhere.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_12: But and he found It had something to do with their whole contract with a planet and stuff like that.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_09: He found his footing though, uh in country in country.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_09: Um but you notice he hasn't been um I don't know if he's working on an album or what, but uh he's been with Hootie for quite a while now.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_09: Like the past couple years.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_09: He's been playing shows and stuff like that.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_12: Which is fine with me, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_09: I prefer uh Darius with Hootie.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_09: So do I.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_12: You know, I I mean his his country stuff's okay.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but it's not my favorite.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_09: No, neither am I.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_09: So um although you can understand his words now.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_12: I did notice that.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_12: I mean he's become very eloquent.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_12: So I don't I don't know.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_12: I don't know if he's just trying to like, you know, be like, you know, I mumbled all the way through Hootie.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_12: I probably should uh you know speak more distinctly when I'm, you know.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_09: Um Alright, so there you go.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_12: Um I didn't even I didn't even check the list.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_12: I I know we must have had it.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_09: We have we have to have.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_09: I think we must have done their new album when it came out, right?
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_12: I'm not sure if it was a it's hard to say, because I mean sometimes I surpr I I get surprised by who we have and who we haven't.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_09: I guarantee you we've done ODNOFish.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah, right here.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_12: This is the third time we've done it.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_09: I'm not surprised.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_12: And the checkbook go in the book.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_12: Here we go.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_09: Uh alright, so that's episode 277.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_09: And um we'll be back at you next week, I guess, right?
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_09: Nothing else?
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_09: We're dumb.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_12: Well, where are we gonna go?
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_12: Good thing we put it in the beginning of the episode.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_12: We're so dumb.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_12: Something what were we gonna call it?
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_09: I think it's we're so dumb.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_12: Something about being dumb.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_12: I think it's we're so dumb.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_12: It's gotta be something like that.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_12: It was something very simple, and we were both like, that's it.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_12: That's fun.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_12: So we're so as soon as we're done here, we're gonna rewind.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_09: I think it was like the first minute.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it was like in the first minute or two.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_09: A minute and a half or something.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_12: So yeah, it's it's gonna be easy to find.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_12: Luckily, we don't have to search the whole episode and try to figure out where did we say that?
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_12: I wasn't even paying attention to what we were saying.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_21: I was drunk.
