- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Well, related to a town legend.

- 1:44SPEAKER_02: But with no further ado, I'll go ahead and have him introduce himself to the world.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: It'd be kind of uncomfortable um introducing myself to the world.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: But to the people who know me, uh or the people who may not know me, my name is Unc.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Just somebody who cares about their community.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like my purpose is giving my all to my community.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: And before I even continue, thank you.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: Because I see what you're doing.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: I love what you're doing, and it is a purpose behind it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think everything has to have a purpose behind it for you to be all in on whatever it is you're trying to accomplish or do.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Um if it's not your purpose, then you just you just doing it.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: What are you doing it for?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: I that's something that the person that's doing it without purpose had to question themselves about.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but if it's no purpose, then you just not giving it your all.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: You don't wake up with it on your mind, you don't go sleep with it on your mind, and you don't go through your day trying to figure out ways to make it better and be better.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: I agree with you.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Okay, so can we go ahead and start?
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Like, how did you start your journey?
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Which part of my journey?
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: How did you start this journey of being able to be an activist, being able to help the community start, like, you know, start your own program?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I think, I think, um, I think that when I when I made a decision to um to get my life together, uh, I think I have always, before even when I was in the streets messing up, um, getting high, going in and out of jail, always, always been like um, even as a kid, I used to be like the big homie.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying, walk my little partner to school.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Like I've always been some form of like of like being like, you know what I'm saying, as far as trying to help people be better.
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Um in the process of me getting clean.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I just wanted other people to understand that they too could get clean.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: And I just wanted the youngsters to understand that the route that they picking ain't the right route.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And that um and then just be involved in their lives to try to be able to be a version of me that's that's best for my people, as well as try to guide them in a in a in a direction that is was different than the one that I um had been through, and not be who people had been to me to them.
- 4:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: As far as like just people that's older than you guiding you down the wrong direction.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: I wanted to be somebody that said, hey man, that ain't cool, but you can still be cool.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: A role model.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Like I'm like, I think, I think, I think uh a real model.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a real model.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, I love that.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Because a role model is somebody who's playing a role.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: This me.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: I'm this is the real version of me.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: I'm not in a role.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: I'm in my life.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: This is what I do, you know what I mean?
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: This is what I wake up doing, and um, I just wanted to be that for them, to be able to tell them the truth about the lies that they're learning.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And stand on it.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And still be accepted and still be uh viewed a certain way in my community from the people that's in the street still.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because that's what I mean.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I still got my credit.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I still I I don't, you know what I'm saying?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: I ain't turned I ain't I ain't turned my I ain't turned my life around and turned around for my people.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: I turned my life around and dove into the lives of my people.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: That's a good thing.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of like, I think that's when I got my life together, I just wanted to be um an example of what real looks like instead of trying to be uh playing a role.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: And I commend you, because I see you.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: And that's exactly what you said.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: We need people to make it look like it's cool.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Because a lot of people don't want it to be cool.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then you know, a lot of times we tell people they need to change their lives, right?
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: And and what they're saying is to a person that that's had low self-esteem, that might not have the right amount of confidence in themselves, you you're telling them that who you are ain't good enough, so you need to change that.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And that's not true.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: You just need to, you just need to, you just need to, you just need to learn who you are and learn how to use who you are to your advantage, not your disadvantage.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You don't need to change.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's some things that you, it's some dis choices and decisions that you need to start making.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: So you might need to change the way you see life in those areas so that you can make those life changes that you need to make.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: But who you are is good enough.
- 6:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Who you been might not be, yeah.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: But who you, your carbon fiber of who you are is good enough.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: You just gotta figure out who that person is.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we just don't spend time to figure out who that person is.
- 6:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: So we always just be running around being knockoff versions of what other people look like, hoping that it fit us and look just as good on us that it's like.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: I was just saying my hair, y'all.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: I was just saying, I love a natural hair, okay?
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: And I wear this fake shit because of fake people I be seeing.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: So I'm saying so No, but you're telling the truth.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: And that's what I wanted, like you said, this is real.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is real.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: Because if I was real, I would not be having this on.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of like just the angle that I live from.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Um that's kind of like where I made my trust in the decision.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: I wanted to be a role, I wanted to be a a person that I needed in my life to the people that need somebody in their life.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they need you.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Because we don't have a lot of mentors and we don't have a lot of father figures.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: And it's something about a man, like a man that's just being able to come and talk to us.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: Boys, girls, you know, young ladies, young men.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: It's something about a man that when you talk to the young or the youth, we listen.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: They listen to women too.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: They do.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: You you have to be relatable.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You have to be something that they look at and they see versions of themselves in.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: And you have to be something that they that's worthy of them looking up to.
- 7:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Um, and sometimes we want kids to to look up to us without putting the work in to even gain their trust to that level of what they understand or look like to for them.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: You want you want the kid to listen to you, but you ain't played no significant role in their life in no type of way.
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: So why should he listen to you?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Because most of our kids already lack a male role model in their life, period.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: They do.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: So when you enter their life, you're asking them to trust you in a way that they probably haven't trusted anyone.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: And then you coming from an angle of looking like a man, and a man might have been the first person that hurt him.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: So why should I listen to you?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: You're gonna abandon me just like the other person did.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: So why should I open up and allow you into my life?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: So you have to you have to put that time in, you have to put that work in to really get them to open up and trust you and and and be vulnerable and ask and understand that you're asking them to be vulnerable, and then also being man enough to make sure that you do everything in your power to make sure that you don't disrespect that vulnerability space that they allowed you in.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Amen to that.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: You know, and a lot of people don't respect their vulnerability space.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: They just they wanna they want to be dictators instead of understanders.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: I understand what you're going through.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: I've been there.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: And that's I was just gonna ask you on the next question.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: So, what was some of the earliest challenges?
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: Because you said you can relate.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: So what was I mean, I I mean, both of my parents used drugs.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: My father used to run in and out of prison.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Uh I started taking care of myself at probably 12 years old.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: Um you from Oakland too, right?
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you know what I'm saying?
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Uh I came in, I came up when uh when when crack really just first started hit.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: So all my young partners was first Davis drug dealers.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: I was still playing sports, trying to, you know what I'm saying, me trying to figure my way out.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: But I didn't have nobody in my life really holding me accountable to what being a uh responsible kid looked like.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Um I didn't have a I didn't have a role model that was there that could guide me out of my madness.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: And and most of the people that you look up to is lost just like you.
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: They just make their loss look better than yours.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: So that's what you want to follow.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: So they say the blind leading the blind?
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: But we don't know that at that time because we all just trying to survive.
- 9:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: So a lot of these kids is out here right now just trying to survive.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: They're just trying to find their way.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Um it may be some people that's important in their life that's absent.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: So they don't have that.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: And then when you when they start getting in trouble and they start getting uh uh they start getting referrals to certain type of programs, um, some of the people that that that they're going to that that to try to help them don't understand them.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: A lot of them is just there for the job instead of the purpose.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: They didn't been to school, they done learned some things, so they they use what they they learn and they try to teach from a book point of view instead of a life point of view.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: A real life.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, real life.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: So, so like I said, I've been there.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Like I've been down, I know what you're going through.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, I understand the choices you're making because they you're making them for right now, you're not making them for later.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Because in the in in our in our environments that we come up in, in our urban cities, we don't, nobody teaches us how to to live for the future.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Nobody teaches us how to plan, prepare, uh, focus on something two or three years from now and and do the small steps now to be able to accomplish that later.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Nobody teaches none of that.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: We wake up every day trying to figure out how we're gonna make it through this day.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: And then we got all the challenges of wanting this, of wanting that, to look like this, to look like that.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: So you know what I'm saying?
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: And then most of our young kids right now, they on drugs.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: They are.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: And people don't understand that that they they're most of our kids right now have drug habits.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: So a lot of the things that they're doing is probably something they wouldn't do if they didn't have a habit.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: But this habit is controlling their mind and their motion and how they behave in our society.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And then you get four or five kids together that all got drug habits, they're gonna run together and terrorize the city trying to make sure make sure they take care of their drug habit and live up to this new Instagram uh acceptance that's what's going on in the world.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: So they they they that's an addiction, attention addiction from the grant, from social media.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: So it's like they facing a whole lot of things that we didn't have to face as kids.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: So you got to get into their world to be able to understand their challenges.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Even though they similar, they still separate.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: They a little bit different because the technology has changed the way that the world's operated.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: So, like you said, we can't go, they can't come to our world.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: We can go to their world.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have to be in their world.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: You have to be in it.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Like, not of it, but in it.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: And that's what made you want to influence like the community just changing your life?
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Or what made you want to start influencing them?
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Like, I just think that's always been my purpose.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Just always.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: And I had to go through my pain to be able to reach my purpose.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: For real.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: I had to go through my own things to be able to prepare me for who I am today.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: So at one time in life, I looked like, damn, I fucked up my life.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: I wasted a lot of time, I could have did this, I could have that.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Not understanding that I was built for this.
- 12:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And what I went through has a per had a purpose tied to it.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: And the only time that you don't realize that is if you don't ever step into it.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: So you'll be living in pain forever.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Instead of saying my pain, what I thought was pain was preparing me for my purpose, because everybody don't make it out.
- 13:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: And then some people make it out and they don't go back.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: They don't want to help the people that's still stuck back there.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: I think that um God, uh God put me through some things, allow me.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: I ain't gonna say put me, I'm gonna say allow me to go through some things to strengthen me for what he had waiting for me once I made the decision to turn my life around.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: And then that's why you able to influence or to talk to the kids.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, to the or whoever.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Other people that, you know, my friends that's on drugs, other people that's on drugs, people that's just going through something.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: You still have friends that you talk to that's on drugs?
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: I still have people that if I see you, I'll talk to you.
- 13:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: I don't hang out with you.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Of course not.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: But like, you know, I yeah.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Have they gave up?
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: They still like I still pull up on you.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: You need something, you're good, holler at me.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: But we don't, we don't have nothing in common.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: So I go down there and try to pull them out, but I'm only pulling so far.
- 13:56SPEAKER_05: Mm-hmm.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: And I'm only going so far because I also do know this is a scary, this is a scary um space for me as well, because I know what I come from and I know what's sitting there for me if I make this one bad decision.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna help you to a point that I'm willing to help you with, but I'm not helping you in ways that you're willing to help me with because I'm afraid of what it may do to me.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: And you never had nobody try to bring you back down that way.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: I take it.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: People, you be around people, so you know what I'm saying?
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: I don't think people purposely do it.
- 14:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: I think if you allow yourself to be in position to it and allow them to do it, it'll happen.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: You know, I just don't go at I don't go into them rabbit holes that I used to be in to even try to figure out if somebody's trying to turn me out or not.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: I just do me.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: So what made you say enough was enough?
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: Like what really made you just say, okay, I'm done with all of this.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: I'm l I'm changing my life.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Well, I was struggling.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Um, I was struggling at one point, just trying to get clean and couldn't get clean and get couldn't.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And then I had a daughter.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Um, and she was probably about four or five.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: I went to jail when she was, I went to jail like a month before she was born.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: When I got out, she was like two years old.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: So we but it seemed like our relationship had was already set in stone.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Even with my absence, she still was my baby, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: So when I came home, I went right into that role, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And um when she started getting a little bit older, like four or five, she started used to start finding my paraphernalia, you know, the things that I used to get high with.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And she wouldn't turn it in, she'd just bring it to me.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Like she, she hadn't, like it was like she knew that I was doing something wrong with this, and that I don't want nobody to know what you're doing, or I don't want to get you in trouble.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And she'd bring it to me.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: And I think over time that just started bothering me.
- 15:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Like start really start, start.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, me not looking my best, not being my best for her.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: I just think that um I wanted her to see me in a different light.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: So I just think like she's the, she's the um, she was the motivation and the and the inspiration that I needed to change my life because I didn't want to continue to hurt her.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Oh my God.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: That's a good, you a good man.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: Shout out, baby girl.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: For real.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: That's like my dog, like, you know what I'm saying?
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: It's nothing about my life she don't know.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Nobody can walk to her and tell her, your daddy this or your daddy that.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: I know everything about my daddy.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: I know my daddy better than he do.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: And I seen, she's about to have a baby too, right?
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: I seen your I see, okay, how you feel?
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: Your baby having a baby.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: And a baby.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Um I'm excited.
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to be able to be in a position in my life where um mentally, spiritually, and physically, well um to be able to be present for her in this transition that's gonna take place in her life.
- 16:49SPEAKER_07: Uh-huh.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And to be able to um give her the assistance and the help and the and the and the and the you know and the and the love that she gonna need while she's dealing with this new experience of her having a child herself.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: You know, so I'm grateful to be able to change my life to the point where I can be a grandfather instead of just a grandfather.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I can be uh I can be active, I can be present, you know.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: If I was still in the streets, I there's no way I would have been able to be a grandfather that the baby needed or the grandfather she needs.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: She needs.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: So we need it.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: So I mean, you know, um So yeah, I think that's that's a great thing for her, you know.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: It happened a little bit earlier than I wanted it to happen for her.
- 17:37SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: But my my my life, I can't make decisions for her life.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: I had to make decisions.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: I had to hope that the decisions, I mean, I had to hope that the things that I taught her prepared her for the decisions that she's making for herself right now.
- 17:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, and then also stand through them with her as she goes through them.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of like where I'm at with that.
- 17:58SPEAKER_02: And she's gonna do it because you're right there.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: That's all people need is love and support.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: When you have somebody that's loving on you and supporting them.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: She has a good baby father.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: They've been together for two, three years.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: They've been through some things together.
- 18:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: You know, um, so they each other's emotional support, they each other's, they, they ride or die for each other.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: So if I'm glad that she's having that baby by someone she's been with.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: And not just some.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: But I didn't, she don't, she know outside, but she don't be outside.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: So I wasn't, I wasn't worried about her more so messing with somebody that was outside like that, that was gonna mistreat her and put her hands on her, you know what I'm saying?
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Because I wasn't gonna be able to do that.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I always told her the man you pick put me in situations.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: So always remember, if you pick the wrong person, then you might put your father in a position that may take you away from him.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: And see, that's what I'm saying.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: Just what you just said, that's why women need kids, need that.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: Like, we ain't even gonna talk about the guys because we know guys need it, but for women, because I was someone who didn't have my dad all the way around.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: And just like you said, like, we need that.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: Because we don't know.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: You gonna get somebody that's gonna misuse you or abuse you, and you don't know that you putting other people in harm's way because they're gonna want to come and stop the abuse and stop early.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: So it's like, so it's like you just pick pick somebody that, you know, that protects all of us.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: By how they behave and treat you, because I'm not going for no mistreatment.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: But also you don't wanna put me in a position where I might be put away from my purpose in life behind it.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: You picking the wrong person.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: But you know, it's sometimes you, you, you, you, it's all about it.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: It's all about who you raise.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: It's all about who you raise.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: You raise a good child, they kind of like prepare them earlier in life for those choices and decisions.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: And then you create an atmosphere for them where they don't have to be outside, finding love because they ain't getting love.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: Because that's what we do.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna go look for it in all of the wrong places.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: If you need you don't gotta look for no male love, you're getting it.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: You don't, you ain't just aligned.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And then you know what that looks like.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: There ain't that many males out there giving in anything.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: And then you know what that looks like.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: So when somebody treats you, you know what love looks like.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Because a lot of us is blind to it.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: And we stay with people that we know we don't have no business staying with.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: But they like to blame the people, but it's like you say, if it's a lack of information or we don't know, we learn in.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: That's why I say I I had to learn.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: Right, right, right.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: I didn't have somebody telling me don't do that.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: It was basically learn, learn.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, that ain't it.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: That ain't it, yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: But by the time we figure that out, whatever trauma and pain and all that is already set.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: It's already created.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: So, like I said, shout out, at least we know baby girl was the main reason that just kind of helped you be like, you know what?
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Enough of this is enough.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just by that time.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: But what was the hardest part about like after it?
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Like, once you stopped all of that, how did you be like start rebuilding your life?
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: So I ended up going to like a program.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Like I had gotten trouble when the judge was like, you wanna go back to the prison, you wanna go to the program.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Usually I'd have been like, I ain't going to program.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Send me to jail.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: I can know I can do jail better than that.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: So I just made a decision to go to the program, and the program gave me the opportunity to be in the world and and and just not with all the pressures of the world.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: And um it allowed me to to spend some time looking into myself and trying to figure myself out and to ask myself, um even though I was messing up, I had never gave up.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: That's a good thing.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: I already knew, like I always knew like it's something it's like like you that guy.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: You just going through something.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: And and I always knew once I figured it out that I was gonna be alright.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: So I think the most challenges uh once I got clean.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Was trying to adjust to real life.
- 22:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: And and and try to get all the information that I had stored up since I had been 12, 13, 14 years old to try to try to trash it and try to replace it with better ways of seeing life.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: So I just think in the beginning, that was the hard part.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Just trying to trying to catch up with what life looked like now.
- 22:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Based on what looked like for me in the in the lifestyle that I was living.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Like I was behind in life.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: And it was two different lives, huh?
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, totally totally two different lives.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: So just trying to figure out, navigate my way through that was hard.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Was like challenging to the point where, you know, sometimes you'd be like, man, fuck this shit.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm I can go figure myself out this situation, but then I'm what that looks like for me.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: It has the ability to fall back into place to what it used to be.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: And that ain't what you want.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: So just stug it out.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Because only down that way is only two, what?
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you can go sell drugs, but you're gonna end up using it eventually.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: It don't matter.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Like it just do all the stuff that I used to do.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Like I used to be a terrorizer.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Like I used to be robbing, I used to be doing it's just like none of that was gonna work for me.
- 23:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: And you feel me?
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: But sometimes when you in the early stages of your change, it's still an option for you.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: And then you just gotta keep working on yourself till that's no longer an option.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: And like you say, don't give up on yourself.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: And then surround yourself around people that's doing something good so you can always see it.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: So you can learn from what that looks like.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: So you know what I'm saying?
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: You put yourself in a position to be around people that's doing right, so you can learn what doing right looks like.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: It might not be exactly your right, but at least you have an idea of what it looks like, and then you can put you into it and then make it right for you in the ways that it fits you.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 23:49SPEAKER_02: And I was gonna ask you, what is something people praise you for that they used to criticize you for now?
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: I don't want to be praised for nothing.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: So they don't praise you for nothing.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be praised for anything.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: But I know they praise you for something, probably changing your life around.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, for the people, for my people that know me, that been through it, like they, they, they, they, they don't, I wouldn't say they praise me, that they uh they're happy for me.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: But I you know, it's people that know me, that hear my story, and then it's people that know my story.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: So the love comes different from the people that know your story than they're from the people that hear your story.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: You know, so when people that been through it with you, seen you at your worst, seen you at your best as uh when you was younger, and then see what you're doing with your life now, and they be like, but I love what you're doing.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they praise you for it.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: They praise you for it.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: That makes you feel good because it's like it's like people that really know, like, like you know what I've been through.
- 24:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Like you know, no, like it's some people that know, know what you've been through.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some people that know you from the story that you tell.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: So I I would say the people that um that just let me know, man, that you know that I'm happy for you and that man, I appreciate what you're doing for the community.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: And I used to be.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: And you giving them hope.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: And some of them be already, you know what I'm saying, got their life together.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: I'm not even saying people that's, you know, that's it.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just in just in general, period.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that bitch just know me from that.
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: Because that's why I was like, you don't even have to be doing bad.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: You can actually just be living a regular life, but you giving me hope.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: Like, you get what I'm saying?
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: Like, nah, I could do more.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: I don't have to give up on myself, period.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: If I be a mentor and help the community, that's what I'm gonna do.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: And ain't nobody gonna hope until my guests.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: You don't gotta do it.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: You could just you could just invest in me doing it.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: You feel me?
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you don't gotta do, you don't gotta come out here.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: You can just send it to me.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, I take care of it.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: You know, but I do everything that I do go directly to the people that I'm trying to do it for.
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: I'm simple.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: I don't need a lot.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Um so I ain't out here trying to scheme and scan for no money for me because I don't need a lot.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: I I make enough to take care of me and the people that I care about.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: I work hard at that.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, um other avenues of support, helping the people that we that really needed our help, you know, a lot of people don't got the time.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: A lot of people just don't got the patience to deal with our people on that level, you know what I'm saying?
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: So they'd rather be an Uncle Man seeing a couple hundred, but you know what I'm saying, as my support to what you got going on.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Because they just want to be involved in something positive, but everybody got different positions and different roles and different purposes.
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: And your purpose is being right there in the front line.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: Front line.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: Why we both said it at the same time?
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Front line, period, okay?
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Did you ever feel like you wasn't gonna survive your past?
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: I know you said you never gave up on yourself, but if you kept doing whatever you was doing, do you feel like you would have?
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: I don't think uh in my addiction I ever I I won't say that it was times that I'd be like, damn, is this what life's gonna be for me?
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: But I never accepted, damn, this is what life's gonna be for me.
- 27:07unknown: Yeah.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Like I never, I never, I never because once you make that decision, it's over.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Like it it's it's probably gonna be too hard for you to get back from.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: Do you think people can come back?
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: From being far, I mean, I think anybody I came back.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: I think anybody can come back.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: You know, and and but it's it's work, it's a lot of work.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Like changes.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: I mean reinventing yourself and from the person that you was being or to or the things that you is doing or was doing, uh and and reprogramming your mind and digging it, but it's it's like it's traumatic.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Like, like somebody hurting you hurts.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: But understanding that you hurting you is way much a deeper pain than realizing that I allowed someone to hurt me.
- 28:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: You allowed yourself to hurt you.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Like and it's a lot of people doing that right now.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: I know people that is.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Like, like, and that's and nobody wants to like that's that's it takes work, personal growth work to dig in them holes and dig out that pain to the point where it don't hurt like it used to no more.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we just be victims to what we already victim ourselves for.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Because we continue to remember that time or that moment or them ways that we hurt ourselves and we can't get past that.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: And we continue to hurt ourselves by even dwelling on it.
- 28:41unknown: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Just like tearing the band-aid off, you know what I'm saying?
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: And it's a lot of hurt people hurting people.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: And but but you can tell who's gonna hurt you because look how they're treating themselves.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: I can't love on you if I ain't loving on me.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: But that's when you get a little bit older, because when you're young and silly, you kind of and you don't have that guidance, you don't really know.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: I think that's a good thing.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: You just go on with the flow.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: I just think that's a part of life that you gotta learn, period.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: And that's something that I had to learn.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, uh-uh.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I just think that has a lot to do with it.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Um just uh going out there and really putting that work in to pull out that pain.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Because if you don't pull that pain out, it's gonna it's gonna keep showing up.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: And the longer it shows up, the stronger it gets.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: And the stronger it gets, the more destructive it's gonna be to yourself about it.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: All right, well, listen, you know, I go by cam go crazy, right?
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: And I have a tr well, it's a would you rather?
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: And then I got a little gift for you too.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: Would you rather your partner be honest?
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Or sugarcoat everything to keep you happy?
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Brutally honest.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: Or would you want them to sugarcoat to keep you happy?
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna tell you this, right?
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: You see bullshit once you've been through some shit.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: Mm-hmm.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: So if you sugarcoating it, I'm gonna be able to see it.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: So if you if if you if you sugarcoat on life, then I'm gonna leave you.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying, me?
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Because it ain't no I've been through so much shit in life that the realest thing to do is just be honest about it.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: Because I'm not gonna judge you for it.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna appreciate you being honest for it, and we're gonna work through it.
- 30:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: Like I ain't the type I didn't give up on me, so I ain't gonna give up on us.
- 30:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: Until us get so destructive that it starts bothering who I am and what I'm trying to do in my life, then yeah, I'm gonna walk away from it.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: But if something, if you, if something is going on or something that's happened, or it's just something that you need to be real about that you know it's gonna create maybe a riff in our relationship, then say it.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: Because it's only a building block.
- 30:58SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: It's only a that gives us the opportunity to add more strength and power to our relationship.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: But some people don't like that.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: That's not you asked me a question about me.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: I get you right.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: You speak for other people.
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: You right.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: Because I'm like, some people want that little sugar coat, but I like how you say honesty.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: You're gonna know you won't, you like sugar coating, knowing they sugarcoating it.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: That's because you know why you like it?
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Because you still sugar coating yourself.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: So you ain't living in real reality.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: No way.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: So it fits right perfect, it goes right along the lines of how you treating you anyway.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: That's why I say some people like that.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, don't, don't bullshit me because I'm gonna be totally turned off by it.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't got to.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: So y'all better not come to him incorrect.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: You better come correct and honest.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Now, because I love that.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: And like I told you, I got a little gift.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: You got it.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: I got y'all something, you know.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: Every man loves to eat a little cat.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: And I know you're crazy.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: I be watching you, so yeah, you can take it out and show the people.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: What is this?
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: What you think?
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, y'all.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell you something, right?
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: I make those too.
- 32:09SPEAKER_02: So and I sell them.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm gonna tell you, right?
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna be um the only reason that I'm not gonna take this offensive.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: Is because a part of who I am and part of my personal world has something to do with this.
- 32:23SPEAKER_07: Mm-hmm.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: Based on who you call me.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: But but I would say this is this this podcast is called pain and purpose.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: You get what I'm saying?
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: I get exactly what you're saying.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: And that right there, that's why I brought it to just be like, cause we so deep with it.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: You feel me?
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: So that's just to get us to laugh.
- 32:43SPEAKER_02: It turns.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you feel me, just to get you to laugh.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: And then I like I told you, I make them too.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: So it's kind of like I'm trying to do two promotions at one.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: Everybody, these titties?
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: And so we're doing promotion too.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, is this candy or soap?
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: It's candy.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, is that right?
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: You can eat it.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: That's what I was like, it's promotion.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, this is pain and purpose, but you gotta also know you gotta be real.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, I'm for real.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: You see me?
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: Because I'm like, um, because I be seeing you too and you real.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, most definitely.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: I'm getting them out there.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: That's why I gave you this, because that's what I want y'all to know.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: Like the public, I want people to be.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: You can enjoy it, trust me.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: Don't enjoy it on camera.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: But it's almonds.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: So I hope you're not um.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna comments.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: Okay, good.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: Because some people are, but like I told you, I missed promotion too, because I'm trying to make it some way.
- 33:29SPEAKER_02: Somehow, somehow.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: So if I gotta make chocolate, if I gotta do interviews, if I gotta whatever I need to do, I'm gonna make it.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be true to me.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you gotta be true to you.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: Like you said, I gotta be honest.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: And that tells me a lot.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: Good.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: Forget it.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: Trust me.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: Y'all, for real.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: I love being crazy, y'all.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: I promise you.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Just being you.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I love being me.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: I can't be nobody else but you.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: And I appreciate the gift.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: I was about to say, I hope it wasn't too much, because you know what?
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: Some people, I don't be wanting to give it out, but then I'm gonna go.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: The only reason I said something, first of all, I was just saying something because I want you to always understand that to the um the platform that you're creating.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: And when you're creating platforms, you also create darts for people to throw at you.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: So you don't want somebody to be able to be like, oh maybe she's talking about pain and purpose, but she got this on there.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: Just to just to have, you know, haters with admonitions.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: So that's they will.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: But the only reason that I said what you did today is cool is because at the end of the day, that is a part of my persona.
- 34:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: So it's not like you was off topic or or presenting me something that I don't present to the world already.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: I see because I have seen Fab Weekend.
- 34:49SPEAKER_02: I didn't get a chance to, because I have kids, so I didn't have a babysitter.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: That's just light stuff.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: But that's why I was like, but I see you.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: That was a light work.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: That was like light work compared to.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: But you know, I've I've kind of matured lately.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: So I I have boundaries of how far I'll either go or how far I'll even let me being seen going.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Because I'm in another realm of life when it comes to dealing with kids and parents and this and that.
- 35:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: And you don't want people to be like, man, you your kid.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: He's mentoring your kid with this, what he's doing.
- 35:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Because like you said, it's always.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: I'm not trying to, I'm trying to save your kid's life.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: Your kid gotta make the decision to change his life on his own, but I am present for that as well.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: But my main concern is to make sure that he makes home every night, that he stays free, and he stays alive.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: Are there any kids that you uh work with that just make like you're real connected to them?
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: All of them.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: All of them.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: I'm not just if I if once we connect, we connect.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: You connect.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: I don't because I don't come across as this my job.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: You feel what I'm saying?
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: It's my life.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: So I and then I'm already, I'm probably connected to the kid before I get connected to the kid because the kid's gonna probably already know who I am when I get there.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: So when I walk up and be like, Uncle, what's up, she doing?
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: I'm into it, like, Unc, that was you?
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was me.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: And so now I'm so deep into it now that uh the kids, all the kids know.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm a mentor.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: I'm at juvenile hall, I'm here, I'm there.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: So the kids be asking for me.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Like, well, I need to get a mentor, Unc, you got me?
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: I was like, uh, let me see what type of charges you got.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: Because if they ain't heavy enough, then I I work with the most at-risk kids.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: So you work with them from the juvenile, from the uh I work with them from I work for this company called the mentoring center.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Remember, it's in Preservation Park.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Where I seen you.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: And so one of those buildings is our office.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: And then um, and we so we contracted, our contract that I work with is from DVP, that's Department of Violence Prevention.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: That's a uh they have a violence prevention thing that was for that's connected to the city of Oakland.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: So so most of my kids come to me, the referrals they come to me, they come from like they've been in jail already, they've been involved in the shooting, they might have got shot.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: Like they're already outside, outside, outside.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, um and then certain certain kids they give to me specifically, like, hey, this unc, get this kid the uncle.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, they kind of know my uh my level of how deep I go when it comes to saving the kids.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Like I'm outside, I'm in your hood, I'm on your block.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm there, present.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: Like it's not, I don't have no fears of um of mentorship.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: So I I'll go places where some people be like, it's dangerous.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: I'm not going down there.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: I'll be like, I'll be down there on the record anyway.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: So you like, nah, if I gotta do it, I gotta do it.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: It's gonna help me.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: Parents call me at 2.3 in the morning.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: I ain't seen my son a couple days this we hanging out at, making a phone call.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: Hey, but tell him you better call me by tomorrow.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: Like, all right, but I'm gonna kidding you.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, y'all know I'm gonna come through here.
- 38:01SPEAKER_02: Hey, that's dope.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: You know I'm gonna come through here tripping.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: So you either want me to come, you either want me to come through here tripping, or you wanna make sure you call me.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: And they and they don't even play.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: Uh, but we're gonna make sure you call.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: You don't even gotta go there.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: Like, tripping ain't me coming, me just coming like, bro, y'all, you feel me?
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Like, come on, bruh.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: Like, you feel me, like they're tripping is me coming aggressive with love.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: But like I told you just a minute ago, caring, showing the colour.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:30SPEAKER_00: Like I'm showing that, like, but sure, you know what I'm saying?
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: Like, but I'm like, Because some people don't have that at all.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have to hit you.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't care if you go home or not, but just tell him to call my phone, though.
- 38:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: I ain't tripping on that.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: Like, just tell him to call my phone so I can let his mama know I talk to him and he's alright.
- 38:43unknown: Yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: And then tell him, and then I need to say to him, but once you go see your mama, like you feel me?
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: Like, but whatever you're doing, tap in with your people.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: At least let them know you're all right.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't want to hear she's gonna be like, I don't care what you want to hear.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: You don't want to hear that she loves you, huh?
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: You come across as she's trying to control you.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: I get it, but she loves you, so don't give her that phone call.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: Man, that's dope.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: So that you can at least let her sleep better tonight.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: Because they need you to, like you say, because they'd look at you and be like, nah, I could listen to him.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: Ain't no, I can't.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: You is.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: You're gonna listen.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't you a kid, I'm gonna give you no options.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: I mean your face.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: And I have a level of respect already built from whatever, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: So it's like they, it's not, it's it's just different for me than it is for a lot of other people because I'm genuine.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: You are and kids know what genuine looks like.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: I could feel it now.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: You feel me?
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: Just being in the interview.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Like it's kids kids know when you so when you ask them to do certain shit, they're gonna be like, but I mean they might say, but I only doing it because you asked me to do it.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: I don't care why you doing it, just do it.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: So But that comes from being active.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: Proactive in your community.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: And I was gonna say, like, why is it so important for us to step up for our for our next generation?
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: Like, why is it important for people to step up?
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: That's how life works.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: It ain't important.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: That's how life works.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Our kids are our kids are a reflection of the love we stopped showing them.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: That's all they are, man.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: The guidance, the love, the care, the concern, the education.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: And the generation is what matters.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: They're only a reflection of what we didn't give them when they was coming up.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: If we was better role models, we was better leaders, we were better parents, we were better community activists, if we was better, whatever that they need in their lives, then they would be better in life.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:48SPEAKER_00: We responsible.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: We are, we have a lot of responsibility into the way they're acting right now.
- 40:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: And if you don't own your response, if you don't own that, then you don't care about going to help.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: You're gonna always sit back in the corner and talk about what they're doing.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: You ain't gonna never get on the front line to show them that's a better way to still accomplish the things that they want to accomplish in life.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: In our generation, the new generation is always the ones that's gonna help us when we get older.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: So it matters.
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't want nobody walking around doing all this crazy stuff.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm old.
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, I want you to be cool.
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: I want you to look out for other people's.
- 41:21SPEAKER_00: We don't, we don't, we don't, we, we, we've turned the a lot of us, and I'm gonna say everybody, a lot of people have turned their back on their people.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, why?
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: Because they're so focused on just trying to make sure they are right.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: That that don't nobody care no more.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: Nobody cares no more.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Like, um, you get what I'm saying?
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: So I understand some people, but I also do understand that that when you my nephew says it's a certain line, right?
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: He said uh that a like a kid that ain't getting loved by the the village or later come back and burn the village down.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: Not on purpose, but just from the lack of teaching.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: And then the lack of not caring because no one cared for them when they was going through the things that they cared.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: So why should I care?
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: Why you robbing the old lady?
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: Who hurt people?
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: Why should they?
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: And then I'm on drugs.
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: Didn't nobody come for my rescue?
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: Nobody come for my rescue.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: Now I'm out here destroying and terrorizing.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Y'all want to say, man, hold it, hold it.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: What nobody said, hold it, hold it for me.
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: When I was out there needing it.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: You feel me?
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: So.
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: But that's why, that's what's crazy, because everybody now, you gotta really meet some good people.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: Because some people like they so into their own little bubble, they can't even get out of it.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: Like and like I said, and I understand in some cases, but I'm just saying if we want our society, our community, our village, our neighborhoods to be better, we have to go back in them and try to show what better looks like for them.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: So that's just kind of like where I'm at with that.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: And what's one thing you wish the community understood about healing and accountability?
- 43:04SPEAKER_01: Like something the community.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: I understand about healing and accountability.
- 43:13SPEAKER_05: Well they kind of go to the same.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: I s I was just thinking, I was like, they go hand in hand with me.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: You gotta be real.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: You gotta be real honest with you gotta be every people like me because I'm that's the word they use.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: I'm transparent.
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: I'm open, honest, real.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: I lay it all out there.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: I don't just show my wins.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: I show when I'm suffering, I'm stressed, I'm depressed.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: And that's why people look up to me.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Every way, uh you see everything with me.
- 43:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: Like I don't just post when I'm up, I post when I'm down.
- 43:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: I post when I'm working my way back up.
- 43:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Person when I'm falling down from the top.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: So people can relate to that.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: So but that also allows me to heal and help heal.
- 44:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: Because that allows other people to be open and be like, man, you know, what have me trying this?
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: Or give other people the opportunity to be like, I'm like, oh, what's up?
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: I'm going to what you think.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: I'm only gonna give you some advice.
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna tell you what you should or shouldn't do because I really don't know the situation to that point.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: But that's why I think about it.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: Being accountable is a part of the healing.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: The healing process, you know what I'm saying?
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: And being willing to hear some, hear from someone else that you look up to that's you know going through some shit because they show you that they're going through some shit.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: So they ain't they don't feel bad about showing you what they're going through and hoping that you won't have to do that.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: I have to be vulnerable.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: Be vulnerable.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: Because you already put your business out there.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: Because I don't want you, I don't want to put my business out now.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: You looking at me, shaming me.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: I can't shame you for some shit that I told you that about me that's way worse than what you're talking to me about right now.
- 44:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: You want me to shame?
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: I lay all my shit out there.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: Like everything.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: It's laid out.
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: It should stump, step on it, just out there.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: No.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: I don't want it.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: Can't nobody judge you but God.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: I don't want it.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: Imitate is just I tell people all the time, right?
- 45:12SPEAKER_00: If I gotta know my truth and I gotta love me for it, so do you.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: Period.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not giving you a version of me.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: You can accept me.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not giving you a version of me because I only want you to see me a certain way so that you can love me the way that I think that looks like because I'm only giving you a certain amount of information to love me from.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: And you're gonna love me for it all.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: You're not gonna love me at all.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: I'm about saying that's how some relationships end up failing.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: People end up doing it.
- 45:36SPEAKER_00: They ain't put it out there.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: It ain't that they ain't doing fashion.
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: They just ain't put all that out there.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: So they're withholding?
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: Withholding.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: Well, that's like don't withhold from me.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: Let me know what it is.
- 45:46SPEAKER_02: Don't let me fall in love with you when you holding back the stuff that's important.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: That I know that can help me know how to understand you, to treat you, and deal with you, understand why you do some of the things that you do.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: Or even give me the opportunity to want to do it.
- 45:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think a lot of people get a world fake version of themselves.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: Everybody got costumes on, and every room they walk in, they got a different costume.
- 46:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: I just take unk wherever I go.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: That's why I told you, that's why I should have just never worn this wig.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: I just can't go crazy, y'all.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: From boardrooms to the entertainers, to the homeless, to the kids, to the f.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: I'm unk all the time.
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: Period.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: And you know what I know?
- 46:27SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: Everybody loves that version of me.
- 46:29SPEAKER_00: They do.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: So why should I try to be a version of me that I want him?
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: I'm only can be great at being me.
- 46:34SPEAKER_02: I was about to say mostly your nephew, because I see you like he always videotaping you.
- 46:38SPEAKER_02: But I was like, he got to, because you are a character.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we just um giving the world the opportunity to see the raw version of our relationship.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 46:49SPEAKER_00: Like, this would like people, I'm skits.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: I've shit, so it might be skit-ish.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: But that should be real life most of the time.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: That is funny, because that's what I'm like when I see y'all relationship, it reminds me like of a son in uh like a dad and a son relationship.
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 47:07SPEAKER_00: More so like uh a favorite uncle and his nephew.
- 47:11SPEAKER_00: Favorite uncle.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: Because I can be all those roles in that role.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: Like, like, like not saying that I play, like I can give you advice from all points of views.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: And I can also listen to you because we have a relationship that's open enough for me to be respect your mind and how you move and how you operate, and understand that, you know, he's kind of been there from he's kind of been there from the start of what change looked like for me.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: Me played a very um sufficient and efficient role in me becoming the man that I am today.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: So, and it comes from a lot of the love and and support and guidance and leadership that we share back and forth.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: And that's somebody who never counted you up.
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: You feel what I'm saying?
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: And if that's not even my nephew.
- 48:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, it ain't?
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: No, we I'm just we just from the same environment.
- 48:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: But our relationship is so tight you wouldn't know it.
- 48:09SPEAKER_02: I would have never.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm saying.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: I'm true.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: People don't know it.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: They don't know.
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: Like, we ain't, but all kin folks ain't skim folks.
- 48:16SPEAKER_02: No, it ain't.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: But the connection is so real.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: Because it's not built on, it's built, not already in place.
- 48:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: We built this relationship with each other.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: Like, we've been through some shit together as far as shit that's going on in my life, shit that's going on in his life.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: We always stand strong.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, yeah, we're not like Bud Ken, no.
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's.
- 48:41SPEAKER_00: But I'm unk to him.
- 48:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you unk to everybody.
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: But I'm unk to him.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: The world called me unk because he called me unk.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because that's why.
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: I that's only.
- 48:51SPEAKER_00: That's where, so you hear him say unk so much, and he'd be like, uh, uh, uh, and then it just stuck.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, when somebody was like, unk.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: So But yeah, um, I uh my nephews have played this very strong, powerful role in and me getting to the point in life that I am, and still plays a strong and important role in my life as well as I play in his.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: You know, and and I tell people all the time this the fact that we're not, because I want everybody to understand, like it makes them really appreciate our relationship.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: Because it was one that was worked on, not one was just you, I'm your uncle, you gotta listen, like, or you my nephew, I gotta let it wasn't giving.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: It wasn't giving.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: It was created, it was worked at.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: It was, you know what I'm saying?
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: So it's important that people understand that part of of um of relationships.
- 49:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:48SPEAKER_00: You can build them and put them together and you can put somebody in place in your life that.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: And blood don't always make you thicker.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: You get what I'm saying?
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: So I get exactly what you're saying.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: I I thank you for even telling me that.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: I probably love him more than I love a nephew.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: Because our relationship is different.
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not forced to be an uncle.
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: I appreciate being in position to be able to, that's how you see me, and I hold that role, and I I appreciate that role, and uh stand next to you with that role in your life.
- 50:21SPEAKER_02: And we all love it.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 50:24SPEAKER_02: I love to see it.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: And I was gonna say, with your radio station too, you have you're on the radio.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: I ain't I ain't really been doing it lately.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: No.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: Because I don't really care for it.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: All in radio?
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: I've seen you do it.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I be doing it.
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: But I don't I I haven't done it like I've done it once this year.
- 50:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: But I wasn't doing it for me.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: I was doing it for the people.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: So when people just stop really investing in themselves to be able to help me pay for the time I need to pay for the style I need to fucking get their music to the world.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: At some point, you I did it for like two years, and it was just like, it was just like, I'm not saying I'm finished with it.
- 50:57SPEAKER_00: I just, I just, I just, right now, it's just like not what's on my plate.
- 51:02SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 51:03SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: It's still more with the year.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: But the opportunity is there, you know what I'm saying?
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: If I want to do it or not.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: But I have so much other stuff that I'm trying to accomplish.
- 51:11SPEAKER_00: It's that if that you are accomplishing.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that if in that hour you don't want to invest in yourself, then I can use the hour to do something.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:19SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 51:20SPEAKER_00: And then I if I gotta pay for my time out of my pocket to hit you in a DM to get you to send me your music to help you get hurt.
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: And that's what it is.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I just but I um I be on there.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: I don't really, it ain't for me.
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: Okay, see, because it was music.
- 51:37SPEAKER_02: I thought you was able to bring kids on there too.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: I can bring whatever on there.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: You can do whatever I want.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: It's my hour.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: But what I'm saying is it's just hard.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of work to try to, you know what I'm saying?
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: And then people don't want to like, the community don't want to invest in positivity.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: So it's like, it's like see, this is pain the purpose, right?
- 51:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: You ain't gonna get too many views on this because it's us trying to tell the people turn it away.
- 52:03SPEAKER_00: It's about the people that is able to help when they do view it.
- 52:06SPEAKER_02: And that's what I was gonna say.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: I don't even count that.
- 52:08SPEAKER_02: I go to the ones who really, because I appreciate you for coming here because it's people that's really going through pain.
- 52:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: And I want them to know, like, no, you can get through it.
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: It's gonna take some time, it's gonna take some grace, but you got it.
- 52:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: You just can't give up on yourself.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: But you gotta be yourself too.
- 52:25SPEAKER_02: You gotta be real.
- 52:26SPEAKER_02: You cannot be somebody that you wanna or you think other people want you to be.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: You gotta stay true to you.
- 52:32SPEAKER_02: And that's what I love.
- 52:34SPEAKER_02: 100% true.
- 52:34SPEAKER_02: I I promise you I love that.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: Because I was like, look at look at I just like that you be honest.
- 52:39SPEAKER_02: Like you say, it's not too many people who wanna be honest.
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: You know, like the attraction, like people like, people will look at me and they'd be like, they'd be like, all the girls love you.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: Like, all the niggas love me too.
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: Like it ain't a like like like so when you think like I'm like I'm just it's just something that comes off me that people love to have around them.
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: So niggas be like I be like, girls like me, but that don't mean they wanna fuck me.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 53:14SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: Like you but it comes across that way when they when you see their first interaction, because it'd be like, hey, uh, and then it'd be like, and then some do.
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: However that may be.
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: But niggas do the same.
- 53:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: You feel what I'm saying?
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: Niggas be just as excited to have me get a pin.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: And then you'd be like, and the average person would be like, feeling like, I don't got fans.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: I got family.
- 53:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: I got people who appreciate me.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: Not people who I'm not in I'm not entertainment to people.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: I'm actually somebody different to people.
- 53:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: That I haven't even found a way to actually truly explain it.
- 53:55SPEAKER_00: But I'm hoping inspiration.
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: You are.
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: Because when I see it, I see inspiration.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: And I'm hoping inspiration to people.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: With the youth too.
- 54:03SPEAKER_02: Like all of them that keep doing the silly stuff, like technology, you keep posting it.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: Like you're telling them stop.
- 54:09unknown: Stop.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: But stop.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Or or or or just, you know, just doing what's my purpose is.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: Like you feel me?
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: Like, you might not stop, but I'm gonna give you a heads up.
- 54:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: So.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: I want y'all to stop.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can't gonna stop, but I won't stop.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: I want them to stop too, but you know they gotta stop when you're ready.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna let you know, but look, this how this is.
- 54:30SPEAKER_00: But you hurt a lot of people with you not stopping.
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: This how they tearing you off by the shit that you're doing.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: You hurting you, you hurting the people that whatever it is you doing shit to.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: Your family that actually love you who don't want you to do that.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, Ollie, you're hurting the victim that you victimized.
- 54:45SPEAKER_00: You're hurting your family and you're hurting yourself.
- 54:47SPEAKER_02: Everybody.
- 54:48SPEAKER_00: Nothing positive coming from what you're doing.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: But you don't understand it because you ain't chasing nothing positive.
- 54:53SPEAKER_00: You chasing some paper that you're gonna fuck off by the morning.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:56SPEAKER_00: You're gonna take something from a you're gonna take something from a person that works hard for a long time to be able to obtain that.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: And in one moment, you're gonna just strip that away from them.
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: The memories of it, the the struggle of it, you're gonna take something away from them, but that they blood, sweat, and tear to earn.

- 55:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:23SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 55:23SPEAKER_02: Because they're not going to the rich, the heat.
- 55:25SPEAKER_02: They do, they do.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, they do?
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: They don't.
- 55:27SPEAKER_00: They do.
- 55:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 55:27SPEAKER_00: Cause I'm like, y'all got less than a lot of people.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: But I'm saying majority of the damage that's being done, we do to ourselves.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying I won't say because I they they go up there and they're in the places.

- 55:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 55:48SPEAKER_00: Your family, your kids, taking yourself away.
- 55:51SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of the pain you're doing to the people that love you is way more hurtful than the pain that you're doing to the people that you victimizing.
- 55:58SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 56:00SPEAKER_02: And how was you able to turn your pain into purpose?
- 56:06SPEAKER_00: Taking my pain and doing the right thing with it, turning into purpose.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: You don't want to feel it no more, right?
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I don't I didn't pay any anytime you've been through some pain, it's for a purpose.
- 56:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: You just gotta find out that purpose looks like and then take it and and and build from it.
- 56:28SPEAKER_00: Like what you go through is what you grow through.
- 56:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:32SPEAKER_00: You feel me?
- 56:32SPEAKER_00: If you don't go through nothing, you don't grow through nothing.
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: You don't grow to be nothing.
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: You gotta go through something to grow to grow to be something.
- 56:40SPEAKER_00: Like you know what I'm saying?
- 56:40SPEAKER_00: So I like going through shit.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's actually the the struggle is what makes it I'm going through shit right now.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: I ain't 100% healthy right now.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: I'm at this podcast and my energy just went away.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: I'm drowsy, I'm down, but I'm juicing now.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: I'm doing shit, I'm trying to figure out what's going on with me because I really don't know, and the doctors can't find nothing.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: But I'm like, okay, I guess this pain got a purpose.
- 57:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: Let me fight before I can get to the end of it so I can figure out what message I need to use this for as to my people.
- 57:12SPEAKER_02: Well, I hope and pray they figure it out.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: I don't even think it's nothing to figure out.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: I just think that I'm going through something that consists of me having to have a message for it later.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:21SPEAKER_00: You get what I'm saying?
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: So whatever.
- 57:23SPEAKER_02: You always look at it as a as a as a good thing, as positivity.
- 57:27SPEAKER_02: Like I like that.
- 57:29SPEAKER_02: Like optimistic.
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: How you say optimistic?
- 57:31SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't one of them ones that look at stuff bad.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: You like, no, if this is happening to me, it's for a reason.
- 57:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so just go to it.
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: This is whatever it is.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: Like, whatever it is.
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: And maybe, maybe some damage I've done in my life when I was living the other way.
- 57:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: That's just saying, uh, you can't get away from this.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: You gotta go through this too.
- 57:50SPEAKER_02: So that's the best thing, y'all.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: Try not to.
- 57:52SPEAKER_00: So you know, maybe your body gotta fight through some elements that based on some things that you've done to it when you weren't living the right life, now it's catching up with you, and now you gotta face that too.
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: It's like, okay, cool, let's do it.
- 58:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.

- 58:09SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 58:09SPEAKER_02: That's all we know.
- 58:10SPEAKER_00: Do I like having to go through it?
- 58:12SPEAKER_00: No.
- 58:12SPEAKER_00: But I share with the world.
- 58:13SPEAKER_00: I let them know.
- 58:14SPEAKER_00: I mean, I ain't healthy.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: I'm going through this.

- 58:31SPEAKER_02: He actually does natural healing.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: Healing.

- 59:07SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: Now, and before we even end it, what is something you want to tell the world?
- 59:13SPEAKER_02: Or anything you want them to know?
- 59:15SPEAKER_00: I got I live by one corner rule.
- 59:17SPEAKER_07: Mm-hmm.
- 59:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, how rough it gets, you build for it.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: And as long as you keep the right mindset, you can get over it.
- 59:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:26SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: Like how you deal with it is how it's gonna be dealt with.
- 59:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: And if you allow it to beat you, it's because you had a uh a mindset that was defeat defeatable.
- 59:39SPEAKER_00: You feel what I'm saying?
- 59:40SPEAKER_00: I'm undefeatable.

- 59:46SPEAKER_00: And you shouldn't go out neither.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: You better not.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: You better stand up and fight for yourself.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: You better not allow what you're going through to dictate how you see yourself, how you feel about yourself, and how you go about life.
- 59:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:59SPEAKER_00: If you get up in the morning, you got some shit to go through throughout the day.

- 1:00:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_00: Why you don't think you need to take a break, a water break, a refreshment break, uh uh uh have the right people in your corner to tell you, like, hey, watch out for this, watch out for that.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
