- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:23Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former a Hallmark hater.
- 0:29Speaker 1: On today's episode, we are continuing our summer school series
- 0:33Speaker 1: with the sixth installment in the Mystery one oh one franchise,
- 0:36Speaker 1: Mystery one oh one Killer Timing. We'd love for you
- 0:39Speaker 1: to follow us on Instagram right now. We are Girls
- 0:42Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark. Hey, we have a Facebook group if you
- 0:45Speaker 1: want to join it. It's gonna get real crazy over
- 0:49Speaker 1: there in the next several weeks and months as we
- 0:54Speaker 1: gear up for the holiday season. So much talk, especially
- 0:58Speaker 1: with all the information that's now starting to come out.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Uh huh. People love to chat about it over there. Hey,
- 1:04Speaker 1: come join us. It's Girls Gone Hallmark in Facebook groups.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I have an email i'd like to share please. It's
- 1:12Speaker 1: from listener Kia and the email title is Mystery one
- 1:15Speaker 1: O one has me in a choke hold. She says,
- 1:18Speaker 1: this is only my second time writing, but I listen
- 1:20Speaker 1: to your podcast all the time and I just adore
- 1:22Speaker 1: you both in my head. We're friends. We are friends.
- 1:25Speaker 1: That's nice as The email title says, Mystery one O
- 1:27Speaker 1: one is my latest obsession. Oh my god, I've been
- 1:31Speaker 1: wanting to watch for a while because I love Joe Wagner,
- 1:34Speaker 1: not just on Hallmark, but she's a badass in Lioness
- 1:36Speaker 1: on Paramount Plus side note, do I need to watch
- 1:39Speaker 1: that show? But your summer school reviews pushed me to
- 1:42Speaker 1: finally sit down and start watching. Today, I'm writing to
- 1:45Speaker 1: say a few things. One, I am with you. I
- 1:48Speaker 1: am so nervous that this series is going to end
- 1:50Speaker 1: without an Amy and Travis kiss. I'd prefer a relationship,
- 1:54Speaker 1: but I'll settle for a kiss. I was swooning at
- 1:56Speaker 1: the end of Dead Talk when they were talking and
- 1:58Speaker 1: embracing at the end, and she obviously hadn't seen Movie
- 2:03Speaker 1: five at this point. Number two, I did to see
- 2:06Speaker 1: that that. I couldn't believe you two didn't mention. You
- 2:08Speaker 1: talked about Amy's gorgeous dress, but you didn't mention how
- 2:11Speaker 1: quickly she snatched her arm from Bishop's arm when she
- 2:14Speaker 1: saw her dad in Travis. It made me laugh out loud. Ps,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I'm in La and good lord, the number of Tesla's
- 2:20Speaker 1: is out of control. That's hilarious. That is hilarious. A
- 2:26Speaker 1: total side note about Tesla. My husband owns a Tesla
- 2:29Speaker 1: and he's getting ready to buy a new car, and
- 2:32Speaker 1: the other day he tells me, I decided I'm not
- 2:34Speaker 1: going to buy another Tesla, which I'm happy about it. Sure,
- 2:39Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, what made you come to
- 2:40Speaker 1: that conclusion? He goes, well, I was leaving the gym
- 2:42Speaker 1: and I decided to count how many Tesla's I would
- 2:45Speaker 1: get to before I got to my car. And I
- 2:47Speaker 1: was like, ann, He's like fifteen. Oh my god. Anyway,
- 2:52Speaker 1: so good news for me, good news for you. Very exciting.
- 2:56Speaker 1: All right, let's hear a synopsis of Mystery one Killer Timing,
- 3:01Speaker 1: an escaped serial killer and an attempt on Travis's life
- 3:05Speaker 1: make their most dangerous case yet, as Amy and Travis
- 3:09Speaker 1: team up with his FBI agent X to find the
- 3:13Speaker 1: connection before it's too late. Killer Timing was directed by
- 3:18Speaker 1: Fred Gerber. He has a total of seventy six directing
- 3:20Speaker 1: credits with Hallmark projects like sand Dollar, Cove, The Gift
- 3:24Speaker 1: of Peace, and a few episodes of Goodwich. Outside of
- 3:27Speaker 1: the network, he's directed episodes from Switched at Birth, Designated Survivor,
- 3:30Speaker 1: and Firefly Lane. This installment of Mystery one O one
- 3:35Speaker 1: was written by John Christian Plummer, based on characters by
- 3:39Speaker 1: Robyn Bernheim and Lee Goldberg. Joe Wagner, Christopher Palaja, Robin Thomas,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and Preston Vanderslice all return. Aaron Khill co stars as
- 3:49Speaker 1: special Agent Kate Coolson. Aaron has one hundred and thirty
- 3:53Speaker 1: five acting credits and recently starred in Journey to You
- 3:56Speaker 1: earlier this year. You can catch her in Hollow as
- 4:00Speaker 1: Nora Jacobs, currently re airing on Hallmark Channel during Christmas
- 4:05Speaker 1: in July, as well as she appears in Christmas at Sea,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the docuseries airing on Monday nights. Real Aaron ka Hill
- 4:14Speaker 1: Summer It sure Is Miranda Edwards appears as Maria Valdes,
- 4:18Speaker 1: Travis's new partner. Miranda has sixty four acting credits and
- 4:22Speaker 1: was last seen on Hallmark in twenty twenty four's Private
- 4:25Speaker 1: Princess Christmas. She's appeared in other shows like Virgin River,
- 4:29Speaker 1: Snow Piercer and Amashta. The Eli Weavers story co starring
- 4:32Speaker 1: Luke McFarlane. Sharine Haas plays Rita Goff. Sharine has forty
- 4:37Speaker 1: eight acting credits and most recently appeared as Shane's doctor
- 4:41Speaker 1: and Signs Sealed, Delivered to the Moon and Back. She's
- 4:45Speaker 1: also been in Sugar Plumbed and Sweeter Than Chocolate. Daniel
- 4:49Speaker 1: Bacon plays Melgoff. He has one hundred and fifty acting credits,
- 4:52Speaker 1: with roles in Blind Date Book Club, a picture of
- 4:54Speaker 1: her and Nantucket. Noel Blake Statle plays Joe Pearson, the
- 4:59Speaker 1: bad guy that works at Elmsted, with twenty nine acting credits.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You might recognize Blake as Frank Senior. Wow. That guy
- 5:06Speaker 1: was a real piece of work in The Chicken Sisters.
- 5:10Speaker 1: He's also had roles in A Million Little Things, Riverdale,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and Supernatural. So I note Chicken Sister season two is
- 5:16Speaker 1: coming to Hallmark in August. We have not made a
- 5:19Speaker 1: final decision on our coverage of that show. We'd love
- 5:21Speaker 1: for you to weigh in Girls Gone Hallmark at gmail
- 5:24Speaker 1: dot com. I know how I feel about it, I
- 5:26Speaker 1: know how you feel about it. Fred Keating plays neighbor
- 5:31Speaker 1: Bill Bryer. Fred has one hundred and sixteen acting credits
- 5:33Speaker 1: and was last seen on Hallmark in The Blessing Bracelet
- 5:36Speaker 1: from twenty twenty three. He's also appeared in movies like
- 5:39Speaker 1: North to Home, Just My Type and Christmas in Evergreen
- 5:41Speaker 1: Letters to Santa Laws and Chambers plays Tabitha Felton. She's
- 5:45Speaker 1: the one up for the Dina Students job. She has
- 5:49Speaker 1: one hundred and three acting credits with roles and Come
- 5:52Speaker 1: Fly with Me, Napa ever After, and Christmas Sale. Killer
- 5:56Speaker 1: Timing was filmed in November twenty twenty in British Columbia, Canada,
- 6:00Speaker 1: premiered on March twenty first, twenty twenty one on Hallmark
- 6:03Speaker 1: Movies and Mysteries. Let's take a quick break and come
- 6:07Speaker 1: right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what is
- 6:19Speaker 1: your first impression of Killer Timing? Well, this one delivers
- 6:24Speaker 1: bodies in a drywall and an ex who nearly walks
- 6:28Speaker 1: away with the whole movie. Oh. My first impression is
- 6:32Speaker 1: how many times can I say? No? Wait? This is
- 6:34Speaker 1: my favorite mystery one I want you know. I was
- 6:38Speaker 1: a little bit nervous because I asked Megan off Mike
- 6:41Speaker 1: prior to recording, like, oh, hey, how did you like
- 6:43Speaker 1: this movie? And She's like, well, you'll just have to
- 6:45Speaker 1: wait and see, And I was like ooh. Because the
- 6:48Speaker 1: IMDb reviews are kind of all over the place. The
- 6:52Speaker 1: IODB reviews are interesting because I found that most of
- 6:55Speaker 1: them were in on like the Amy and Travis of
- 6:58Speaker 1: it all, but a lot of people didn't like the
- 7:00Speaker 1: mystery storytelling piece. Spoiler. I like the mystery what. I
- 7:04Speaker 1: have some criticisms about it, but I liked it. Well,
- 7:09Speaker 1: let's start with what you liked. Well, first of all,
- 7:11Speaker 1: it's Aaron K. Hill. M h slam dunk for me.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I loved her as Travis's ex Kate. She adds a
- 7:21Speaker 1: lot of chemistry and complexity without falling into the typical
- 7:26Speaker 1: like woman on woman CALFI over some dude. In fact,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I love that her character is so likable, and I
- 7:39Speaker 1: love that scene where she tells Travis how much she
- 7:42Speaker 1: likes Amy. I'm like, that is some like grown woman
- 7:47Speaker 1: kind of energy. Yeah, that's a girl's girl right there. Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'm here for it. And I was thinking while I'm
- 7:54Speaker 1: watching this, I was like, you know, I know, we
- 7:56Speaker 1: see Aaron K. Hill, like, she does a couple of
- 7:59Speaker 1: movies and she's in Holidays right now. We really liked her,
- 8:04Speaker 1: We really really liked her as Nora in Holidays. Yes,
- 8:09Speaker 1: she's my favorite. In fact, if you're a Girl's Gone
- 8:11Speaker 1: Homemark Newsletter subscriber. The newsletter that went out this morning
- 8:15Speaker 1: is what you should watch for Christmas in July, just
- 8:18Speaker 1: a couple of suggestions from us and Holidays is on
- 8:22Speaker 1: the list, and I did name Sheriff Nora as our
- 8:24Speaker 1: favorite part of that. She's great. But what I was
- 8:27Speaker 1: thinking was I like her in a detective role. I
- 8:32Speaker 1: think I would really like watching her in some sort
- 8:36Speaker 1: of mystery series for sure, for one hundred percent. Like
- 8:39Speaker 1: I could see her as the like a Mariska Hargeta. Yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I want her as the hectic Yes, me too, me too.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I really really liked her. You liked her as well.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I loved her. I love the addition of that character.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I think we're at the right place in the series
- 8:57Speaker 1: to get a big time character addition. You know, every
- 9:02Speaker 1: mystery movie introduces new characters, and even in a franchise
- 9:06Speaker 1: like this, we're introducing potential recurring characters. But I think
- 9:10Speaker 1: to introduce someone as strong as Aaron Cahill, you needed
- 9:13Speaker 1: to have fully established the other people. And I think
- 9:17Speaker 1: it comes at exactly the right time, and especially the
- 9:20Speaker 1: right time in Amy and Travis's developing relationship. Another thing
- 9:26Speaker 1: I think is done well based on what we know
- 9:29Speaker 1: of the characters is those are really nice. It's small,
- 9:31Speaker 1: but a really nice emotional moment when Amy calls her
- 9:34Speaker 1: dad asking him to head to the hospital while she
- 9:36Speaker 1: stays behind to answer detective questions, Like you can see
- 9:40Speaker 1: the depth of her feelings for Travis in that moment,
- 9:43Speaker 1: but you can also see the relationship she has with
- 9:44Speaker 1: her dad just through that phone call. Jill Wagner can act. Agree,
- 9:51Speaker 1: Let's talk about Jill Wagner for a minute. You and
- 9:55Speaker 1: I are haters. We were worried about bringing and a
- 10:00Speaker 1: certain bias. Yeah, she's a great actor. She's really good,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and I have a hard time I really do have
- 10:11Speaker 1: a hard time, like separating when they had that whole
- 10:15Speaker 1: big shuffle of Hallmark actors who went over to the
- 10:19Speaker 1: other channel and like made these declarations and I was like, Okay,
- 10:22Speaker 1: well you and I don't see at eye on things,
- 10:25Speaker 1: so goodbye. It is so hard when somebody is truly,
- 10:30Speaker 1: truly a good actor, like to Yeah, I'm not judging
- 10:35Speaker 1: her on the content of her character here, but I
- 10:37Speaker 1: have absolutely no idea what was behind her motivation to
- 10:39Speaker 1: go to Great American Family. I don't know if she's
- 10:43Speaker 1: currently making new movies over there. I am not paying
- 10:45Speaker 1: attention to what's happening over there, but based on I
- 10:51Speaker 1: in a vacuum, she's a great actor. Right, Maybe we
- 10:56Speaker 1: do need to watch Lionis. Yeah, like Nicole Kidman is
- 11:01Speaker 1: in that. I don't know anything about that show at all.
- 11:04Speaker 1: My husband watches Day he says it's great. Paramount Plus
- 11:06Speaker 1: is a streamer that we do have, and I never
- 11:10Speaker 1: open it up ever. Really, I don't watch anything on
- 11:13Speaker 1: Paramount pluss. I know Big Brother stars this week. I
- 11:15Speaker 1: think I'm gonna watch it. Is it on Paramount Plus?
- 11:18Speaker 1: Well it airs the next day on Paramount Oh it's
- 11:20Speaker 1: still on CBS C Yeah, I still actually have cable.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Megan and I, for those who don't know, used to
- 11:29Speaker 1: really get into Big Brother. Yeah, we did whole prediction
- 11:33Speaker 1: episodes back in the days when we were on Big Brother.
- 11:37Speaker 1: We were on Big Brother, like what was that? They
- 11:41Speaker 1: had a tell us your favorite Big Brother character fan
- 11:45Speaker 1: activation and we sent in a video and it was
- 11:48Speaker 1: during our YouTube days, and so we had been recording,
- 11:52Speaker 1: so we had like our light and camera and everything.
- 11:54Speaker 1: We were miked. We had like Lavalier mics on and
- 11:58Speaker 1: we recorded our because we loved he was a dentist.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I don't remember his name. Johnny Mac, Johnny Mack, that's
- 12:06Speaker 1: what it was. And they played some of the fan videos.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I got to tell you, they were not good. They
- 12:13Speaker 1: were all poorly lit. It was horrible. Arts looked great,
- 12:16Speaker 1: ours looked great. And then people came for us on
- 12:19Speaker 1: Twitter back when Twitter existed, and they were like, they're
- 12:23Speaker 1: a plant. They're wearing mics. But yeah, we had our
- 12:29Speaker 1: fifteen seconds of fame on Big Brother. That episode actually
- 12:31Speaker 1: aired on my ten year wedding anniversary. Oh, I remember
- 12:34Speaker 1: being out of town when it aired. Yeah, we were
- 12:36Speaker 1: both we were in the same place. Oh, that's right,
- 12:40Speaker 1: that is right. I forgot about that. I forgot about that. Funny. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 1: So Big Brother airs on well, I think streams the
- 12:48Speaker 1: next day. So it starts soon, starts Thursday night this week,
- 12:52Speaker 1: tomorrow night, July tenth as this episode airs. Yes, speaking
- 12:57Speaker 1: of likes, I have a mini one. I'm glad we
- 12:58Speaker 1: got closure for Claire taking a detective job in Honolulu.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Happens off screen, but at least we haven't forgotten about her.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Let me get Bud talking about it. I appreciate the
- 13:08Speaker 1: attempt at closure. Good for Claire getting an opportunity good
- 13:11Speaker 1: and I'm happy for her. I mean I would have
- 13:15Speaker 1: taken that job too. Absolutely a couple likes for me.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I thought Hallmark really brought some suspense with this episode.
- 13:25Speaker 1: One plot thread fizzles for me. I will talk more
- 13:28Speaker 1: about that in a minute, but I do think there
- 13:30Speaker 1: were some solid mystery angles that gave this movie a
- 13:35Speaker 1: little bit of a darker, more thriller kind of vibe. Huh,
- 13:42Speaker 1: I love it. The Wolfman revenge arc I thought was suspenseful,
- 13:47Speaker 1: especially when it keeps Travis in danger, like now we're
- 13:50Speaker 1: worried about Travis. Yes, right, I thought that was good.
- 13:54Speaker 1: The shady couple who live next door with you know that.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I was intrigued by that whole storyline. And then when
- 14:02Speaker 1: they Travis knocks down that drywall and there is a
- 14:06Speaker 1: mummified body in the wall. What yet, did this movie
- 14:10Speaker 1: give you elements of horror movie? Now? Stick with me.
- 14:15Speaker 1: There are several moments we believe throughout this movie that
- 14:18Speaker 1: Travis is in danger, and so they are aware of
- 14:21Speaker 1: Travis being in danger. But there are several moments where
- 14:24Speaker 1: Amy walks away, like Amy goes home by herself. Yeah yeah,
- 14:29Speaker 1: And then at one point she even goes to her
- 14:31Speaker 1: father's house because there's been a shooting at her house.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But it's almost like the don't go into the basement
- 14:37Speaker 1: moment when you're watching on because you know Amy's in
- 14:42Speaker 1: danger too, or at least potentially, even if you don't
- 14:45Speaker 1: know what's going on, you know that if they're together
- 14:47Speaker 1: when these things are happening, she has the potential to
- 14:50Speaker 1: be in danger too. And then her dad leaves and
- 14:52Speaker 1: she's alone in the house, and you're like, oh, good,
- 14:54Speaker 1: don't pick up the phone, don't go in the basement.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Oh and don't do all of those things. I'm right
- 14:59Speaker 1: with you. I absolutely agree, absolutely agree. My last thing
- 15:06Speaker 1: that I really liked stick with me here the explosion
- 15:10Speaker 1: that kicks off the movie. It's a little TV low budget.
- 15:16Speaker 1: It's a little hokey, but still startling, startling, and I
- 15:19Speaker 1: like that it starts there and then loops back to
- 15:23Speaker 1: the beginning and then we catch up in real time.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I thought that was cool how they did that. Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I really like that too. I have three little likes. Okay,
- 15:33Speaker 1: wrap this up. I thought there were some great comedic moments.
- 15:36Speaker 1: This series has consistently brought the humor even in some darker,
- 15:40Speaker 1: heavier storylines, the Purp saying this can all be explained
- 15:44Speaker 1: and Travis saying, yeah, I just explained it all. And
- 15:47Speaker 1: then when they're at the hospital, Graham's trying to like
- 15:49Speaker 1: make Amy get there about who Kate is? Great, He's
- 15:52Speaker 1: like Travis ever mentioned that his ex wife's name was Kate,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and Amy's like, no, he was her name was Kate? Like,
- 15:58Speaker 1: get there faster, Amy. The phone call from Graham interrupting
- 16:01Speaker 1: their nice moment at the end, great callback. Loved that
- 16:03Speaker 1: they reincorporated Graham Bianna you know what he's got killer
- 16:08Speaker 1: timing yeah. And finally we get a better fight scene
- 16:12Speaker 1: from Amy than we did from Travis last week when
- 16:15Speaker 1: the IT guy breaks into our house and she she
- 16:17Speaker 1: throws salt in this face and she kicks him with
- 16:20Speaker 1: her heel. It's a whole you know. Oh it was
- 16:22Speaker 1: like a roundhouse kick. Yes, you know. Christopher Plaw himself
- 16:27Speaker 1: commented on our reel. I pulled that clip and he
- 16:29Speaker 1: commented on it, and he was like, great feedback and
- 16:31Speaker 1: shouldn't let me know. I'll do that next time on
- 16:34Speaker 1: the holding Somebody Ahead, and oh, I love it. I
- 16:40Speaker 1: haven't seen his comment on it. I hope he wasn't
- 16:44Speaker 1: being snarky. I don't. I mean, I don't. I didn't
- 16:47Speaker 1: get that impression. I'm choosing to believe he was just
- 16:49Speaker 1: being funny. It was the comment was one hundred percent
- 16:55Speaker 1: on team Christopher Palaw like, you could have taken the dude.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It was just a funny. You know, it is so
- 17:00Speaker 1: funny that scene what we're talking about. If you guys
- 17:04Speaker 1: didn't listen, we're talking in the last movie, in movie
- 17:07Speaker 1: number five, he gets in a fight with the bad
- 17:11Speaker 1: guy and Travis could have easily taken this guy down.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I was thinking about this the other day. I watched
- 17:18Speaker 1: this movie two weeks ago. I was getting ready and
- 17:21Speaker 1: I was thinking about that fight scene, and in my head,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I go, there would have been there would have been
- 17:26Speaker 1: two hits, me hitting you and you hitting the floor.
- 17:28Speaker 1: This is what I was thinking. And I was like, oh, yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 1: that's so funny. That's what totally would have happened with
- 17:33Speaker 1: this movie. I mean, if that was like a real
- 17:35Speaker 1: fight in anyway, Mystery one on one has us in
- 17:41Speaker 1: a choke hold too. Yes, let's talk wishes for me.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I got to say the storyline with the IT guy,
- 17:53Speaker 1: maybe one of the dumbest motives ever. Yeah, it doesn't
- 17:56Speaker 1: hold water for me, like big yikes. Yeah, Look, can
- 18:01Speaker 1: I say I did clock him as the bad guy
- 18:03Speaker 1: the instant he walked on the screen, of course, and
- 18:05Speaker 1: then in the next scene that he's in when he
- 18:07Speaker 1: comes to Amy's office, My husband walked in the room
- 18:09Speaker 1: and he goes, is that the bad guy? Like he
- 18:11Speaker 1: hasn't seen one second of this movie and clocked him
- 18:13Speaker 1: as the bad guy. I just her taking the laptop
- 18:17Speaker 1: was the icing on the bad plot line cake for me.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It just felt like he's so in love with her
- 18:23Speaker 1: that he's going to kill to make sure that she
- 18:25Speaker 1: comes with him. No, yeah, it doesn't. It doesn't land
- 18:31Speaker 1: for me at all. I did really like the Wolfman storyline,
- 18:35Speaker 1: like I thought that was suspenseful and good. Yeah, and
- 18:39Speaker 1: the whole revenge piece of it all. Yeah. Yeah. When
- 18:44Speaker 1: Travis is on the stand and he's like, I'm in
- 18:46Speaker 1: Garrison now, I was like, no, don't tell him where
- 18:50Speaker 1: you're at, dude. Yeah. But the it guy who wants
- 18:54Speaker 1: to kill Amy, No, no, it does not work for
- 18:59Speaker 1: him me. No. And also he could probably hack her
- 19:03Speaker 1: email without having her physical computer. You're the it guy
- 19:06Speaker 1: like this stuff does not live on a physical space.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean, your eighteen year old could probably exactly. Computer.
- 19:16Speaker 1: We're doing a lot of college paperwork these days, and
- 19:18Speaker 1: sometimes I sit with my kid really's doing it, and
- 19:20Speaker 1: just like watching the way he like navigates the Internet.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and just computers in general. I'm like, how'd
- 19:26Speaker 1: you do that? You know, I have a seventeen year
- 19:30Speaker 1: old And she laughs and my face at how slow
- 19:33Speaker 1: I am navigating, like the buttons on my phone. Oh
- 19:38Speaker 1: my kid's like, Mom, just give it to me. And
- 19:41Speaker 1: I think of myself as pretty techy. Me too. My
- 19:45Speaker 1: son's a gamer, so he uses a bunch of keyboard
- 19:47Speaker 1: shortcuts even in his everyday life. Oh so, anyway, the
- 19:50Speaker 1: whole New World, I have a couple wishes. Honestly, my
- 19:53Speaker 1: entire wishes is the I don't buy it segment, starting
- 19:56Speaker 1: with the it guy. But the next thing I don't
- 19:58Speaker 1: buy is the next door neighbor. Dude, it's just gonna
- 20:00Speaker 1: walk into a crime scene and what walk out with
- 20:03Speaker 1: a mummified body. I didn't understand his intentions a lot
- 20:07Speaker 1: of things here. Does he not see the detective standing
- 20:10Speaker 1: right in front of the house exactly, You're just gonna
- 20:13Speaker 1: lift the yellow tape and walk on in and then yes,
- 20:16Speaker 1: are you he doesn't know the state of the house
- 20:19Speaker 1: inside that they have already? Wait have they already? They
- 20:23Speaker 1: had expose, they had it right. So was he just
- 20:25Speaker 1: gonna like dig into the drywall with his bare hands
- 20:28Speaker 1: and then what they're gonna come back and there's gonna
- 20:31Speaker 1: be a hole in the wall and they'd be like,
- 20:32Speaker 1: that's weird, that's weird. Yeah, that was weird. Uh. The
- 20:37Speaker 1: fact that he walked in the front door and broad
- 20:38Speaker 1: daylight was the hardest to buy for me. And finally,
- 20:42Speaker 1: as much as I am team Amy Winslow is a badass,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I don't fully buy that she would be put solely
- 20:48Speaker 1: in charge of choosing the new dean of students. They're
- 20:53Speaker 1: not going to give that to another professor. Maybe she'd
- 20:56Speaker 1: be on the committee to vet these people. But someone
- 21:00Speaker 1: who gets paid to make decisions like that is going
- 21:02Speaker 1: to make decisions like that, particularly when Amy's like, yo,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I got a conflict of interest here, and they're like,
- 21:07Speaker 1: don't worry, we trust that you'll get it handled. We
- 21:11Speaker 1: just need you to get it done. And then the
- 21:14Speaker 1: hardest part for me is, like that storyline is dropped,
- 21:17Speaker 1: like she talks about like we have six days to
- 21:19Speaker 1: make a decision, and then she spends all this time
- 21:21Speaker 1: investigating the wolfman situation with Travis, and it's only picked
- 21:24Speaker 1: up toward the very end. It's a little a little
- 21:28Speaker 1: messy for me. Yeah, I agree, I agree, one little
- 21:32Speaker 1: final wish for me. No Holly again. And we do
- 21:37Speaker 1: get mentioned of her and her coffee shop, but we
- 21:40Speaker 1: don't see her. I know she's gone. I don't have
- 21:46Speaker 1: any did you see that? I don't either, and I
- 21:48Speaker 1: only have one per IMDb. Okay, per IMDb. It says
- 21:54Speaker 1: Amy mentions the body in the wall reminds her of
- 21:57Speaker 1: Edgar Allen Poe's murder in the Rue Morgue. Travis asks
- 22:03Speaker 1: if Poe wrote about bodies in a wall, and Amy replies,
- 22:06Speaker 1: in the Chimney, Poe did write a story about a
- 22:09Speaker 1: body and a hidden wall called the Black Cat, And
- 22:11Speaker 1: any professor of literature that specializes in mystery writers and
- 22:15Speaker 1: stories would have known that Poe writes about a lot
- 22:20Speaker 1: of weird, like the heart buried in the floorboards, some
- 22:24Speaker 1: dark stuff. You know. Pae comes up a lot for
- 22:28Speaker 1: us on the podcast. Yeah, we did. John Christian Plummer
- 22:32Speaker 1: write the Murder at Mosby Movies the Jade Mysteries, Now, yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I mean I think it's a classic dark, you know,
- 22:42Speaker 1: murdery situation to reference. I did want to say that
- 22:47Speaker 1: several people have written in to us referencing an interview
- 22:52Speaker 1: done over on The Homewark Mysteries and more podcasts with
- 22:55Speaker 1: John Christian Plumber where he does go through his vision
- 23:00Speaker 1: for the next movie, and they've encouraged us to listen.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I'm not listening until after the finale that we get. Yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 1: he has a vision for like the next one. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 1: got it. Oh that's interesting. I'm interesting. I have not listened,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and it's for the same reason why I didn't watch
- 23:17Speaker 1: Movie seven before we recorded this, because I wanted this
- 23:22Speaker 1: experience to be pure without knowing what's coming. And I
- 23:24Speaker 1: want my Movie seven experience to be pure, even though
- 23:27Speaker 1: I kind of know what's coming because it's been spoiled,
- 23:29Speaker 1: but I don't want to know the future. I want
- 23:30Speaker 1: to watch it and then I will go listen to
- 23:33Speaker 1: that interview and we can discuss his thoughts on that. Nice.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I'll put a link in our show notes. Yeah, well,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I think I know what you rated this movie. But
- 23:41Speaker 1: go ahead and tell me who'd you ride this movie?
- 23:43Speaker 1: I don't think you know. I gave it four point
- 23:45Speaker 1: seventy five. It's nearly perfect. Yeah, I actually gave it
- 23:48Speaker 1: the same rating because I wanted to give it five
- 23:50Speaker 1: stars because the viewing experience was so fun. It's a
- 23:54Speaker 1: really fun movie to watch. Just some of the mystery
- 23:58Speaker 1: pieces of tea stuff. Yeah, I am the neighbor. Who
- 24:02Speaker 1: I mean, the dude killed his wife and put her
- 24:06Speaker 1: in a wall. It's like you get a bill that
- 24:09Speaker 1: you don't want to pay and you just like throw
- 24:10Speaker 1: in a drawers wild wild. So thank you for listening
- 24:15Speaker 1: to this episode of Girls Gone Homework, a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 24:18Speaker 1: We will be back next week with the final Mystery
- 24:21Speaker 1: one oh one movie review in our Summer School series.
- 24:24Speaker 1: But never fear, Summer School continues with Mistletoe Murders after that.
