- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time to set your lineup with the dream team.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Here's Jim Zoki and John Halpin. All right, we join
- 0:09Speaker 1: you from all across America today to bring you this podcast.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Of course, John Halpin back in Charlotte. This is Jim
- 0:15Speaker 1: Zoki in Appleton, Wisconsin, getting ready for Thursday night football.
- 0:20Speaker 1: As we record this, getting ready for the Panthers in
- 0:22Speaker 1: primetime against the Green Bay Packers. And last year, what
- 0:26Speaker 1: you wanted, you got, was the win, John. It was
- 0:29Speaker 1: not a fantasy football stellar performance, though. Bryce Young threw
- 0:32Speaker 1: for like 102 yards, and the Panthers kicked a bunch
- 0:34Speaker 1: of Brian Fitzgerald field goals, but much happier to take
- 0:37Speaker 1: the win to get fantasy stats. But we'll see how
- 0:39Speaker 1: this one plays out. This one doesn't set up, in
- 0:41Speaker 1: my mind, I'll see about you, it doesn't feel like
- 0:43Speaker 1: this is going to be a 16-13 game this time,
- 0:45Speaker 1: does it?
- 0:46Speaker 2: It definitely doesn't. Over-under is 47.5, so we're looking at
- 0:50Speaker 2: a high-scoring game. Panthers are still without their cornerbacks, not great. Um,
- 0:55Speaker 2: Packers have some injuries too. Uh, so, and lots of
- 0:57Speaker 2: good skill players everywhere that I know we're going to
- 0:59Speaker 2: talk about, but yeah, 16, 13 doesn't seem likely more
- 1:02Speaker 2: like a, more like a 27, 24 kind of game.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Let's stick with them for a minute. You mentioned it.
- 1:08Speaker 1: And as we record this, we don't know about Matthew Golden, right?
- 1:11Speaker 1: He's got a foot and a shoulder injury. So they're
- 1:13Speaker 1: still listening to him as questionable. Does that feel like
- 1:15Speaker 1: a game time decision?
- 1:16Speaker 2: It feels like that. We, I haven't normally, you know,
- 1:18Speaker 2: you wake up in the morning on, let's say a
- 1:20Speaker 2: Sunday and And you hear, yeah, this guy's tracking likely
- 1:23Speaker 2: to play today on Matthew. We're doing this Thursday late morning.
- 1:26Speaker 2: And it's a we don't know on Matthew Golden. So
- 1:28Speaker 2: game time or close to that.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And so, as you mentioned, the Panthers without their two
- 1:33Speaker 1: top cornerbacks, also depth wise, I know it's polarizing, but
- 1:37Speaker 1: Caleb Evans will not play. He's another player you don't have.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So it looks like a lot of practice squad help
- 1:41Speaker 1: to go with Willie and Shaw Smith Wade at corner.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Could this be a bonanza potentially, and hopefully not, but
- 1:47Speaker 1: potentially for Christian Watson who can flat out fly with
- 1:50Speaker 1: the football? He's got six touchdowns.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, unfortunately I think so because with those injuries, on
- 1:56Speaker 2: top of those injuries, Christian Watson is a deep threat
- 2:00Speaker 2: and Jordan Love likes to attack. He's not a check
- 2:03Speaker 2: down Charlie kind of quarterback. He's a let it fly
- 2:06Speaker 2: kind of guy. So you would think they're going to
- 2:08Speaker 2: be throwing downfield quite a bit to Christian Watson and
- 2:11Speaker 2: Golden if he plays. I mean, if you look at
- 2:13Speaker 2: those two guys, Both of them. I mean, Golden's averaging
- 2:16Speaker 2: 15 yards a catch. Watson's up around 17. Like, these dudes,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you know, they get after it. They are not, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 2: catching four-yard slants and getting tackled. They are going downfield,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and I think the Packers are going to do a
- 2:30Speaker 2: lot of that tonight.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so probably some deep safety help to help those
- 2:33Speaker 1: corners out tonight for Carolina. I had Tucker Kraft last
- 2:36Speaker 1: year in fantasy. He was, I would say— maybe top
- 2:40Speaker 1: two tight end at the time last year, about this
- 2:42Speaker 1: time on the calendar last year, and he blew up
- 2:44Speaker 1: his knee against the Panthers. He's been back playing this year.
- 2:47Speaker 1: He's not been as dynamic, but probably feel like as
- 2:49Speaker 1: he gets more and more recovered and healthy as the
- 2:52Speaker 1: season goes on, that he might be a guy that
- 2:54Speaker 1: really makes a difference in the second half of the season, right?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he's better than your average tight end
- 3:00Speaker 2: for sure. Talent-wise, he's much better. Stat-wise, 29 catches so far,
- 3:05Speaker 2: about 10 yards a catch, pretty good. You know, you
- 3:07Speaker 2: get in the end zone a little more often and
- 3:09Speaker 2: things work out pretty well. But, you know, Tucker Kraft's
- 3:11Speaker 2: probably in the top. If I was going to project
- 3:14Speaker 2: fantasy tight ends for the rest of the year, he'd
- 3:15Speaker 2: be in the top six or seven.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Wow. Okay. So keep an eye on him tonight as well. And,
- 3:19Speaker 1: of course, last week was the return of Josh Jacobs.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And he only ran for 36 yards. He had five catches,
- 3:24Speaker 1: 55 yards, and a touchdown receiving in his first game back.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And they are the worst rushing team in the NFL. So, again,
- 3:31Speaker 1: they are like the Panthers. A lot of injuries on
- 3:33Speaker 1: the offensive line, so hard to project everything. But he's
- 3:37Speaker 1: a guy, even if they can't get the run game going,
- 3:39Speaker 1: will probably get you something in the receiving game, right?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, even though he's the best back they have, even
- 3:43Speaker 2: with the backups, they were struggling to run all year.
- 3:46Speaker 2: They kept saying things like, you know, I can't wait
- 3:48Speaker 2: until Jacobs gets back because the other guys can't run.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And now Jacobs is back and he really couldn't run.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So it's like, you know, I think that they'll try,
- 3:56Speaker 2: but I don't think they'll be stubborn about trying.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And Jordan Love, back on draft season, You mentioned him
- 4:03Speaker 1: and that lump of players like, don't go chasing big-name
- 4:06Speaker 1: quarterbacks early. There's guys like Jordan Love out there, and
- 4:09Speaker 1: he seems like he's been playing really well as far
- 4:11Speaker 1: as the value of somebody taking him in their fantasy
- 4:13Speaker 1: draft and waiting.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, unfortunately, you wish Jordan Love would run a little bit,
- 4:18Speaker 2: but he's averaging 280 passing yards a game. Like I
- 4:21Speaker 2: said earlier, they kind of get after it.
- 4:23Speaker 1: They attack.
- 4:24Speaker 2: They don't just dink and dunk their way down the field,
- 4:26Speaker 2: and that's going to lead to bigger plays and more yards.
- 4:28Speaker 2: He's QB 14 in points per game right now, but
- 4:32Speaker 2: I think rest of the year again. With those two receivers,
- 4:35Speaker 2: Jordan Love is the guy who didn't cost you much
- 4:37Speaker 2: on draft day and is kind of nice to have.
- 4:39Speaker 1: All right, before we talk about the skill players for
- 4:41Speaker 1: the Panthers, of course, recapping a disappointing loss of Taylor
- 4:46Speaker 1: Moten after he just came back from the blood clots
- 4:48Speaker 1: and now the ankle surgery he's done for the year
- 4:50Speaker 1: at White Tackle. So Monroe Freeling back in. Damian Lewis,
- 4:53Speaker 1: the guard, will not play in this game. It's been
- 4:55Speaker 1: a tough year for the O-line. They allowed five sacks.
- 4:58Speaker 1: last week, which had a hand in the three turnovers
- 5:01Speaker 1: that Bryce Young had of the four turnovers Carolina had.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So now, moving into this game, you would think the
- 5:06Speaker 1: Panthers have to adjust to the fact that their offensive
- 5:08Speaker 1: line is not as stout as they hoped it would be, right?
- 5:11Speaker 2: Correct. And the Packers' defense seems to be improving, even
- 5:15Speaker 2: without Micah Parsons back yet. You know, the last, what,
- 5:17Speaker 2: four games they've averaged, they've given up like 13 or
- 5:20Speaker 2: 14 a game average. So yeah, I do think the
- 5:24Speaker 2: Panthers are going to score their points, even with the
- 5:26Speaker 2: offensive line injury issues. Um, but you know, as far
- 5:30Speaker 2: as how, I mean, if you scored 24, everybody can't
- 5:32Speaker 2: do a ton. Some weeks they have like, well, you'd
- 5:34Speaker 2: be like, Hey, Chuba and Teteroa and Jalen Coker. Everybody's great. Uh,
- 5:38Speaker 2: I don't know about everyone tonight. I tend to think
- 5:39Speaker 2: that this might be a Chuba night more than some
- 5:41Speaker 2: of the other guys. Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And because, you know, he still ran it well last week.
- 5:46Speaker 1: He just didn't get the opportunity. Seven carries 33 yards,
- 5:49Speaker 1: had four catches last week too. So he's a guy
- 5:51Speaker 1: obviously that is a dual threat as a receiver and,
- 5:54Speaker 1: and are running back here. On the road, you've got
- 5:57Speaker 1: some personnel issues. Helps to shorten the game, right? You
- 6:00Speaker 1: get a good running game going. They always talk about
- 6:02Speaker 1: it anyways. But just to take some of the stress
- 6:04Speaker 1: and the snaps off the defense.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah, totally agree with that. That would be a way
- 6:08Speaker 2: to go tonight. And that might lead to it being
- 6:09Speaker 2: a little lower scoring than we talked about earlier. But
- 6:12Speaker 2: good idea for the Panthers. And Chuba's been so good.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Like last year was the only blip on the radar
- 6:17Speaker 2: in how good he's been this season for fantasy managers.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Okay, so everything stunk last week in the loss to
- 6:22Speaker 1: Tampa Bay. And T-Mac and Jalen Coker combined for five catches,
- 6:26Speaker 1: 59 yards. That's what we expect one of those guys
- 6:29Speaker 1: to get in a half normally. So obviously Tampa Bay
- 6:32Speaker 1: took care of that too, but we expect some bounce
- 6:34Speaker 1: backs from both those guys, I would think, right? Yeah, definitely.
- 6:36Speaker 2: It's funny. You think a game, if you look at
- 6:38Speaker 2: the score, the one thing you'd think fantasy-wise was, well,
- 6:41Speaker 2: I bet the receivers got theirs in garbage time. And nope,
- 6:44Speaker 2: nobody got anything. It was just terrible. So I think
- 6:48Speaker 2: they'll bounce back and have solid nights. They're too good
- 6:51Speaker 2: not to. They get Even with the Packers' defense improving,
- 6:54Speaker 2: these are two we keep talking about. There's two number
- 6:56Speaker 2: ones here. They get open, and Bryce should find them
- 6:59Speaker 2: for some productive nights.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And classic, as we've talked about, Darren Waller every week.
- 7:03Speaker 1: He's so tempting, and yet you might catch him on
- 7:05Speaker 1: the right week. He had only one catch, but it
- 7:08Speaker 1: was a 50-yard touchdown. And so it's like you never know.
- 7:12Speaker 1: He could have had one catch for nine yards like
- 7:13Speaker 1: Jalen Cochran, but he got three for a 50-yard touchdown.
- 7:16Speaker 1: So you just never know. And you cautioned about, hey,
- 7:19Speaker 1: don't go in on Tommy Tremble with two touchdowns the
- 7:21Speaker 1: week before at Philadelphia. You just never know with this
- 7:23Speaker 1: group who's going to stand out.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I haven't yet done the exercise of combining the stats
- 7:27Speaker 2: of all the Panthers tight ends and seeing where they
- 7:30Speaker 2: would rank. I'm going to do that before next week.
- 7:34Speaker 2: But it's just, you know, so many touchdowns. Waller caught, what,
- 7:36Speaker 2: two earlier in the season? And he got one last week.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And Tremble got two the week before. So we're up
- 7:41Speaker 2: to five. Most of the tight ends don't have five. So, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 2: the Panthers tight ends in the aggregate, if he could
- 7:45Speaker 2: draft a team position, would be great. As far as
- 7:46Speaker 2: picking one of them, no chance would I ever try
- 7:48Speaker 2: to do that.
- 7:49Speaker 1: All right. So let's look around the league. And folks
- 7:52Speaker 1: need to know, set their lineups to Thursday night football.
- 7:55Speaker 1: But also this weekend, no Saints, Giants. Niners or Texan
- 7:59Speaker 1: players in fantasy football. Lamar Jackson for Baltimore was close
- 8:02Speaker 1: last week. Didn't quite get on the field. Does that
- 8:05Speaker 1: make you think he's going to play this week?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Sounds like he's going to play full practice Wednesday. You know,
- 8:09Speaker 2: last week it sounded like he could have made it
- 8:11Speaker 2: and he didn't, but they're playing the Bills big game.
- 8:14Speaker 2: So I think you can count on seeing him out there.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Why is Ravens Bills at one o'clock, by the way?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Come on, NFL.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Do better. That's dynamic, you would think, but... Hey, you
- 8:24Speaker 1: know what? I'm kind of glad I like early football.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So I like seeing some good early football happen. You
- 8:29Speaker 1: may not know this, I have a Sunday of no football.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I always love that. So some other injuries to keep
- 8:36Speaker 1: an eye on. Man, Philadelphia's snake bit. Devontae Smith has
- 8:40Speaker 1: the hamstring injury. And I saw they put their running
- 8:43Speaker 1: back Pierce. I mean, that's not a big fantasy player.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But just the depth over all of that team. They
- 8:49Speaker 1: have been that team that's been snaked by injuries this year.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, in the backfield. Bigsby, Shipley, and now
- 8:54Speaker 2: Pierce on IR. Saquon came back last week from a
- 8:57Speaker 2: hamstring injury and then got hurt. He hurt his back
- 9:01Speaker 2: during the game Monday night. But then when Pierce went out,
- 9:04Speaker 2: Saquon had to come back. I mean, they probably would
- 9:05Speaker 2: have kept him out, but it was like, well, there's
- 9:07Speaker 2: nobody else, right? And Saquon says even though his back hurts,
- 9:11Speaker 2: he's going to play this week against the Commanders. So, yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 2: you're right, and that's a mess. And Devontae Smith, hamstring
- 9:18Speaker 2: injury still out. There are rumors that they might just
- 9:20Speaker 2: shut him down. what a disaster season the Eagles are having.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I can't say I'm heartbroken about it, but it's a
- 9:27Speaker 2: rough one for them.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Your insight on this one, I told you I was
- 9:30Speaker 1: lucky in one of my leagues that no one was
- 9:32Speaker 1: paying attention to Jordan Mason. I picked him up last week.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I played, I didn't do anything much, but Aaron Jones
- 9:37Speaker 1: is a DNP, didn't practice on Wednesday, so could be
- 9:41Speaker 1: a big Jordan Mason week, right?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Aaron Jones hurt himself on Sunday and it didn't
- 9:45Speaker 2: look great. It's not an IR situation, but I'd definitely
- 9:49Speaker 2: be a little skeptical of him playing this week. And
- 9:50Speaker 2: Jordan Mason... Look, they're playing the Lions, who haven't been
- 9:53Speaker 2: awful against the run, but not a great defense. Last week,
- 9:57Speaker 2: you're right. He didn't get in the end zone, but
- 9:58Speaker 2: the volume was there. like we talked about that first
- 10:00Speaker 2: game of the season he carried 15 times uh last
- 10:02Speaker 2: week he got a bunch of work too I think
- 10:04Speaker 2: Jordan Mason could be in line for 20 carries this
- 10:06Speaker 2: week and if he if he if we think he's
- 10:08Speaker 2: going to get that he's probably worth starting in most fantasy.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Formats Kyle Menungai left it all out in the field
- 10:15Speaker 1: about a month ago. He had that 130-yard game. He
- 10:18Speaker 1: got injured in that game. He's got a thumb and
- 10:20Speaker 1: a toe injury. And for those who have DeAndre Swift,
- 10:23Speaker 1: it looks like you could continue to count on him
- 10:25Speaker 1: being the bell cow, right?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah, DeAndre Swift. A little bit of Roshon Johnson mixed in,
- 10:29Speaker 2: but Swift's been really solid, and they're not When they
- 10:35Speaker 2: got there with Ben Johnson, he didn't use Swift as
- 10:37Speaker 2: much in Detroit. He used him as more of the
- 10:40Speaker 2: 1B to David Montgomery and gave him less work because
- 10:43Speaker 2: he's a smaller dude. But they're working him as much
- 10:47Speaker 2: as they can.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Jalen Waddell, the chest injury. Obviously, he had that one
- 10:53Speaker 1: good game, like week two or week three. That was it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So the whole Broncos offense has been disappointing, obviously, with
- 10:59Speaker 1: Sean Payton. taking over the play calling duties, trying to
- 11:02Speaker 1: get some juice going there. But just everything with that
- 11:05Speaker 1: Broncos offense, they got some nice players, but really nobody
- 11:08Speaker 1: fantasy wise is standing out week to week.
- 11:10Speaker 2: No, I mean, maybe, you know, Jonah Coleman's starting to,
- 11:13Speaker 2: he got back last week and they gave him the
- 11:15Speaker 2: most carries. So that's an interesting one in their backfield.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Be right about Waddle. Waddle was a third, fourth round
- 11:21Speaker 2: turn type of fantasy pick. I was really high on
- 11:24Speaker 2: him coming into this year going, hey, they traded a
- 11:25Speaker 2: first round pick for him. They're bringing him in and
- 11:27Speaker 2: they throw the ball a ton. This is going to
- 11:28Speaker 2: be great. It has just been a disaster. Part of me,
- 11:31Speaker 2: with the one team I have Waddle on, I'm looking
- 11:33Speaker 2: and going, thank goodness I might not have to start
- 11:35Speaker 2: him this week because I'm sick of him going out
- 11:36Speaker 2: there going 2-3-17.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Interesting to keep an eye on a couple of other receivers.
- 11:42Speaker 1: George Pickens is weird to watch. I've got him in
- 11:44Speaker 1: two of my fantasy leagues. And he'll have like zero
- 11:47Speaker 1: catches at halftime, but then the game ends and he
- 11:49Speaker 1: has like really good numbers by the end. Like Dak
- 11:53Speaker 1: remembers him in the second half.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Starts throwing to him. However, did he get a practice
- 11:58Speaker 1: injury or what's going on with him?
- 11:59Speaker 2: We're not sure because after they came out of practice,
- 12:01Speaker 2: after practice, he was on the injury report with a
- 12:04Speaker 2: hamstring injury and some of the writers were like, we
- 12:06Speaker 2: didn't know about this, so maybe it did happen during practice.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I think we're going to have to watch this one.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Been waiting on DJ Moore to come back from that
- 12:14Speaker 1: shoulder injury. He's been out for maybe more than a
- 12:16Speaker 1: month at this point. Is this the week he returns?
- 12:18Speaker 2: It sure sounds like it. I think he was limited Wednesday,
- 12:21Speaker 2: but they said he's tracking toward coming back, which is
- 12:23Speaker 2: great news for the Bills pass offense and good news
- 12:25Speaker 2: for that That Bills-Ravens game, that should be a lot
- 12:28Speaker 2: of fun.
- 12:29Speaker 1: What about Rasheed Rice with Kansas City?
- 12:31Speaker 2: Big, maybe. Since we're doing this Thursday morning, the guys
- 12:35Speaker 2: who are limited Wednesday, we're going to have to play
- 12:37Speaker 2: it by ear a little bit. But Rasheed Rice doesn't–
- 12:40Speaker 2: kind of sounds still pretty iffy.
- 12:43Speaker 1: And still waiting on Emeka Abuka. He had that concussion
- 12:45Speaker 1: that kept him out last week against the Panthers, but
- 12:48Speaker 1: also beyond that, he's got a foot injury, right?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and concussions are who the heck knows with concussions.
- 12:52Speaker 2: He was limited Wednesday, which means he is doing some work.
- 12:55Speaker 2: But concussions, I always say, you know, with a foot
- 12:57Speaker 2: or a hamstring, you can say, oh, that's usually two
- 13:00Speaker 2: to three weeks. The concussion is it's ready when it's ready.
- 13:03Speaker 1: What to do about Jeremiah Love? You know, there's been
- 13:05Speaker 1: no decision to make the last couple of weeks because
- 13:07Speaker 1: they haven't played him. But if he's up this week,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and we don't know that he is, but if he
- 13:12Speaker 1: is up, I mean, is it too risky to play him?
- 13:15Speaker 2: The way they've been going. So first of all, that's
- 13:18Speaker 2: an if he's up. But we said each of the
- 13:20Speaker 2: last two weeks, the coach has said things like, well,
- 13:22Speaker 2: if he's not 100%, he's not going out there. And
- 13:25Speaker 2: the last two weeks, they've not only gotten production out
- 13:27Speaker 2: of Tyler Algeo, but they've got it out of Bam Knight.
- 13:29Speaker 2: And last week, Bam Knight didn't get a ton of work. But,
- 13:33Speaker 2: you know, 7 for 48 rushing, 3 for 15 receiving.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Not too shabby. Like, they have a three-man committee option here,
- 13:41Speaker 2: and they seem like they want to protect Love for
- 13:44Speaker 2: some weird reason. Like, you and I have talked about before,
- 13:46Speaker 2: you know, you draft a guy in the first round,
- 13:47Speaker 2: you should use him. And they seem content with... with
- 13:50Speaker 2: babying him a little bit. And I know he's been injured,
- 13:52Speaker 2: and I don't want to get on him for that,
- 13:55Speaker 2: but you're right. If he plays, I'm like, okay, how
- 13:58Speaker 2: much work are Knight and Algie are going to get?
- 14:00Speaker 2: Probably a decent amount for both of them because they've
- 14:02Speaker 2: been pretty good.
- 14:03Speaker 1: J-E-T-S. Jets, Jets, Jets. That's a couple guys to talk about.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And you're a Giant fan. I know it hurts you
- 14:08Speaker 1: to hear that. Brees Hall, Braden Allen. What do you
- 14:11Speaker 1: see for their health?
- 14:12Speaker 2: So it sounds like Brees Hall is coming back, which
- 14:15Speaker 2: is great. But Braden Allen... He's played four games since
- 14:19Speaker 2: Hall's been out and he's averaged 89 yards. He's a
- 14:21Speaker 2: good runner. If you're the Jets, why would you just say, hey,
- 14:26Speaker 2: bring him down and take a seat? You know, you're
- 14:28Speaker 2: going to get four carries today. I think they're going
- 14:30Speaker 2: to use both of them.
- 14:32Speaker 1: All right. I'm scared here. One's an injury. One is
- 14:34Speaker 1: just what the heck's going on in Indianapolis question. Broad strokes.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You have traded away two key players, offensive and defensive line.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I have Jonathan Taylor in one league who's been terrific,
- 14:44Speaker 1: except for one game he didn't get much. His wife
- 14:47Speaker 1: went to social media saying, is he going to be traded?
- 14:49Speaker 1: Is he going to be sat down? Because they're going
- 14:52Speaker 1: to trade him and they don't want him to get hurt.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And then you do have an actually hurt, very good
- 14:56Speaker 1: tight end, top five tight end, I would say, in
- 14:58Speaker 1: Tyler Warren, who's got the groin injury. He suffered in
- 15:01Speaker 1: practice a couple weeks ago. Talk about Tyler Warren and
- 15:04Speaker 1: also Jonathan Taylor.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Tyler Warren was limited in Wednesday's practice, which hopefully
- 15:07Speaker 2: is a good sign since he's missed the last two games.
- 15:10Speaker 2: As far as Jonathan Taylor, I don't know. Part of
- 15:13Speaker 2: me thinks that they won't trade him. They traded the
- 15:16Speaker 2: other two guys, Nelson and DeForest Buckner, because they had
- 15:19Speaker 2: expiring contracts. Taylor's different. He just signed a two-year extension.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm not convinced that they're going to trade him. I
- 15:26Speaker 2: don't know that it's this thing where they're going to
- 15:28Speaker 2: trade everything that's not nailed down. With that said, last week,
- 15:32Speaker 2: they tried to counteract the Minnesota defense and the pass
- 15:35Speaker 2: rush with a lot of running. And Seth McGowan carried
- 15:38Speaker 2: the ball 11 times. They like Seth McGowan, and he's
- 15:40Speaker 2: Taylor's backup. Now, I don't know that they're going to
- 15:42Speaker 2: sit Taylor. I find that difficult to believe. But with
- 15:46Speaker 2: that said, you might have McGowan giving Taylor some more
- 15:52Speaker 2: breathers than he might have before.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Got you. Chargers-Rams, weird matchup of the week. Chargers coming
- 15:58Speaker 1: off a bye week, come back out of it and
- 16:00Speaker 1: say Mike McDaniel is still an offensive play caller. So
- 16:03Speaker 1: weird there. They're struggling. They've got what everyone thought is
- 16:06Speaker 1: a very talented quarterback. He's shown it for years. And
- 16:08Speaker 1: then Ladd-McConkie with the concussion. So first of all, Ladd-McConkie,
- 16:12Speaker 1: what do we know about his potential return? And how
- 16:14Speaker 1: do we feel anyway about anybody with the Chargers? I
- 16:17Speaker 1: actually saw Marion Hampton on the waiver wire, and I
- 16:20Speaker 1: passed right by him. This is a guy I would
- 16:22Speaker 1: have taken. Second, third round probably before the season began.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah. So, okay. McConkie concussion, but full practice Wednesday. They
- 16:29Speaker 2: were on a bye last week. This sounds pretty promising
- 16:32Speaker 2: that he's going to return. So they went 0-6. Harbaugh
- 16:37Speaker 2: came off the field and basically said right away, yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 2: we're going to change the play calling. And then this
- 16:41Speaker 2: week he was like, nah, I don't think we're going
- 16:43Speaker 2: to do that. McDaniel's going to still call plays. All right, sure, whatever.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I do take heart. If you drafted Ladd-McConkie in the
- 16:49Speaker 2: third round of a draft like I did, I take
- 16:53Speaker 2: solace in the fact that if you remember when he
- 16:54Speaker 2: was healthy, which has been a while, in the first game,
- 16:57Speaker 2: they threw to him a lot. Before he got hurt,
- 17:00Speaker 2: they were targeting him very intentionally and with high volume.
- 17:04Speaker 2: And I think if he's healthy, they're going to try
- 17:06Speaker 2: to do that again. Now, will they be successful? Will
- 17:07Speaker 2: the offense be functional? Can't really answer that right now.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But I'm not giving up on Ladin McConkie.
- 17:13Speaker 1: At this point. All right. And one more injury note.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He hasn't played yet this year. Is this the week
- 17:18Speaker 1: Zach Charbonnet returns? And as we know, he wouldn't be
- 17:22Speaker 1: like a bell cow, but he's certainly a guy that
- 17:24Speaker 1: could be short yardage touchdown guy for certain players. Yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 2: So they had faked everybody last week. They're like, oh,
- 17:30Speaker 2: he's coming off the, you know, his windows open to return.
- 17:34Speaker 2: And then they decided not to return him. Now, even
- 17:36Speaker 2: if he does return, well, Jadarian Price is supposedly going
- 17:40Speaker 2: to return to practice too. And I don't know that
- 17:41Speaker 2: they're going to bury Jadarian Price. They have other guys
- 17:43Speaker 2: there that they've been using. Manuel Wilson. Is that Wilson?
- 17:46Speaker 2: Am I got the right guy?
- 17:47Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 17:48Speaker 2: And George Filani. So I don't know. If Charbonnet's active,
- 17:52Speaker 2: I wouldn't be starting.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Him this week. All right, let's look at the waiver wire.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I mentioned a couple of people I've been able to
- 17:57Speaker 1: pick up the last week or two. I'm seeing some
- 17:59Speaker 1: retread names in here this week. Let's start with quarterback,
- 18:02Speaker 1: if you're looking to find one off the waiver wire.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Well, basically what you do if you want a streaming quarterback,
- 18:07Speaker 2: you look and see who's playing the Cowboys. And if
- 18:09Speaker 2: the quarterback's available, you pick them. So Jacoby Brissett, you're up.
- 18:13Speaker 2: He's 44% rostered on Yahoo. The over-under in that game
- 18:16Speaker 2: with the Cowboys is 54 and a half. He leads
- 18:19Speaker 2: the NFL in pass attempts because the Cardinals are so bad,
- 18:21Speaker 2: they have to throw all the time. I mean, that's
- 18:23Speaker 2: the reasoning. It's not that Jacoby Brissett is a great
- 18:25Speaker 2: real-life quarterback, but he's got a great fantasy matchup this week.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And then running back, using your logic, I'm guessing Bam
- 18:31Speaker 1: Knight of the Arizona Cardinals, another option on many waiver wires.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and I will say that this is the best
- 18:37Speaker 2: of a bad bunch. I said he might be in
- 18:39Speaker 2: a three-man committee, and he might, but it's not like
- 18:42Speaker 2: you've got any guys that, are going to carry the
- 18:45Speaker 2: ball 15 times that are available. So Bam Knight, he's
- 18:48Speaker 2: available in three quarters of Yahoo leagues. Again, he's, he's
- 18:50Speaker 2: been pretty solid. The Cowboys have given up 145 rushing
- 18:52Speaker 2: yards per game. That's near the bottom of the league.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Bam Knight could have some success again.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You've got a couple other possible running back options. If
- 19:00Speaker 1: Bam Knight's not available, right? Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I mentioned Seth McGowan again, he'd be a sidekick to
- 19:03Speaker 2: Jonathan Taylor, but that's, it's possible that he could produce
- 19:06Speaker 2: also Mike Washington, a junior on Vegas, Ashton Gentry, something's
- 19:10Speaker 2: wrong there. Like, I think it's probably an injury. I
- 19:12Speaker 2: know they're using him more as– not as a third
- 19:15Speaker 2: down back, but they're giving Washington more work. He was
- 19:18Speaker 2: only 6-27 last week, but he seems to be on
- 19:20Speaker 2: the field more. If I had Jenty– I mean, if
- 19:22Speaker 2: you have Jenty, you're pretty much angry if you picked
- 19:27Speaker 2: him in the first or second round. But Mike Washington Jr.
- 19:29Speaker 2: seems like he's going to get more of a workload
- 19:30Speaker 2: moving forward.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I lived through Gentry last year in two of my leagues.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I didn't even go near him this year, so I'm
- 19:35Speaker 1: glad I did not make that mistake twice. Wide receivers,
- 19:39Speaker 1: those seem to be a little bit easier to find
- 19:40Speaker 1: week to week on the waiver wire. Anybody solid out there?
- 19:43Speaker 2: Well, let's go to the Monday night game. I got to, um,
- 19:46Speaker 2: McKay lemon from Philly. We mentioned that everybody else is out. Uh,
- 19:49Speaker 2: he was seven for 67 and a touchdown on eight
- 19:52Speaker 2: targets last week. He was a first round pick. He's talented.
- 19:54Speaker 2: They like him. He's probably the lead receiver at this point,
- 19:56Speaker 2: other than maybe Dallas Goddard. Otherwise you look across Antonio
- 19:59Speaker 2: Williams on Washington from Clemson, uh, 19% rostered on Yahoo's
- 20:04Speaker 2: playing against the Eagles. It with Terry McLaurin out for
- 20:07Speaker 2: the season, uh, Williams and one other guy we're going
- 20:10Speaker 2: to mention in a minute, step up as probably the
- 20:13Speaker 2: leading targets in the Washington offense. And I think Jaden Daniels,
- 20:16Speaker 2: for whatever block-headed time management he's working on, he's not
- 20:19Speaker 2: a bad quarterback.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Yeah, sticking with your Monday Night Football theme, tight end
- 20:23Speaker 1: and defense also are the games that might provide some
- 20:27Speaker 1: relief to somebody looking for somebody this week, right?
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty much down on the Eagles. So Chigokonkwo,
- 20:32Speaker 2: in his last two games, one of them with McLaurin out,
- 20:34Speaker 2: 13 targets, 11 for 129. That's pretty good for a
- 20:38Speaker 2: tight end if you're looking to stream one. And this week,
- 20:40Speaker 2: if you have Kittle out, Isaiah Likely out, someone like that.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Or if you're just kind of bottom feeding a tight
- 20:44Speaker 2: end and streaming week to week, a Conco could be
- 20:46Speaker 2: pretty good. I actually picked him up and I'm hoping
- 20:48Speaker 2: to use him for most of the rest of the season.
- 20:50Speaker 2: The other one, as far as the defenses that are
- 20:52Speaker 2: widely available are not that good this week. The Commanders
- 20:56Speaker 2: being pretty widely available against the Eagles and Tanner McKee
- 20:58Speaker 2: is one that I might go after. The Eagles' expected
- 21:01Speaker 2: point total based on the over-under is 17.5. Not so great.
- 21:03Speaker 1: All right. That's it from us. Hope you have a
- 21:05Speaker 1: great week, and we'll catch up again on the pregame
- 21:07Speaker 1: show next week.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You too.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Thanks, Jim.
