- 0:01Several days ago, a Seeker raised a question, rephrased
- 0:05here. I read SRI aurobindo his
- 0:08writings regularly and for a time they stay active within me
- 0:13but then it falls away and I feel blank inside.
- 0:18Am I losing the benefit of Sri? Aurobindo is teaching and if so,
- 0:22how can I ensure that it stays active within me?
- 0:27There are periods of active development and growth and then
- 0:31there are other periods that are times of assimilation.
- 0:35During the assimilation period, not much of anything is visible
- 0:40on the surface of the being. And thus, we may believe that
- 0:45our spiritual progress has been somehow suddenly arrested.
- 0:49We may experience a feeling of emptiness or dryness.
- 0:53Then when the needed inner development is ready, it appears
- 0:58as if miraculously There is a phenomenon which is called the
- 1:04all-or-nothing response for instance if we are in a darkened
- 1:09area we see only Darkness, we will not perceive light until
- 1:13sufficient photons are available and firing our vision cells in
- 1:18our eyes. Thus we do not see a gradual
- 1:22increase of light but an appearance of Darkness followed
- 1:26by a period of sudden light. Three-hour window describe
- 1:31something in the evolutionary development, which is akin to
- 1:34this when he discusses the concept of The evolutionary
- 1:38psaltis the sudden leap in Consciousness, that appears to
- 1:42have no direct precursor and thus no immediately preceding
- 1:47species. This helps explain what
- 1:50anthropologists consider to be the gaps.
- 1:52In the fossil record that seemed to imply a break in The
- 1:56evolutionary cycle of development.
- 2:00An analogous process occurs in the development and growth of
- 2:03Consciousness. As the individual undertake
- 2:06sadhna. If the Seeker has the basic
- 2:09understanding of the phases, the light phase and the dark phase
- 2:14of the development, taking place internally and recognizes that
- 2:19the process continues. Even if unseen, then Faith,
- 2:24patience. And persistence will eventually
- 2:27be rewarded with the next stage of Consciousness manifesting in
- 2:31the Seeker, when all things have been prepared behind the scene,
- 2:37dr. Dalal writes, quote, whatever
- 2:40the path. Followed the process of inner
- 2:42growth, involves a transformation of the normal
- 2:44State of Consciousness, a progressive, Awakening of inner,
- 2:48and higher states of being culminating, in a total reversal
- 2:52of Consciousness, a new birth, One feature of the reversal of
- 2:57Consciousness which gives it the appearance of a sudden
- 3:01revolution rather than a gradual change is that it involves a
- 3:05process similar to what has been called.
- 3:09Unconscious incubation. The term incubation has been
- 3:13used in Psychology to denote a period of time during which no
- 3:18conscious effort is made to solve a problem, but which
- 3:21terminates with the solution citation from Arthur Reber the
- 3:26penguin dictionary of psychology.
- 3:29Hence, the advice to sleep over an insoluble problem, waiting
- 3:33for the solution to emerge, a somewhat similar phenomenon is
- 3:38involved in the reversal of Consciousness.
- 3:41It is a sudden happening preceded by a more-or-less long
- 3:45period of preparation which takes place behind the veil of
- 3:49the surface Consciousness and of which the Seeker is therefore
- 3:53unaware, The mother observes quote for a long time.
- 3:59You have the impression that nothing is happening, that your
- 4:02Consciousness is the same as usual, and if you have an
- 4:06intense aspiration, you even feel a resistance as though, you
- 4:11were knocking against a wall, which does not yield.
- 4:15But when you were ready within a last effort, the picking in the
- 4:19Shell of the being and everything opens, and you are
- 4:24projecting Did into another consciousness.
