- 0:29Speaker 1: all of the thousands of you that listen to five
- 0:32Speaker 1: Minute Friday and Hurdle on the regular. I want you
- 0:37Speaker 1: to make sure that you're following Hurdle on social over
- 0:39Speaker 1: on Instagram at Hurdle podcast, and it would make my
- 0:44Speaker 1: day if you would either tag Hurdle on Instagram, show
- 0:49Speaker 1: some love to the show over there, or send me
- 0:52Speaker 1: a note over on email over at Hello at Hurdle
- 0:56Speaker 1: dot us. Let me know what keeps you coming back.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I'm confid in this period of reflecting and asking myself
- 1:04Speaker 1: what's working and what's not working, And I know that
- 1:07Speaker 1: there are so many dedicated community members out there that
- 1:11Speaker 1: can help me on this journey. So all of this
- 1:14Speaker 1: is me saying to you, hey, I could use your help.
- 1:18Speaker 1: What are you liking, what's feeling good, what's resonating? And
- 1:22Speaker 1: spread the goodness that is Hurdle. That's my little PSA
- 1:26Speaker 1: for the week. I want to tell you about something
- 1:27Speaker 1: that I did earlier this week on Tuesday. I believe
- 1:33Speaker 1: so I have this personal rule, and the rule is
- 1:36Speaker 1: that if I am sending someone an email and it
- 1:39Speaker 1: is outside what many consider to be conventional work hours,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I schedule send the email for the following day, unless
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's something that's urgent. I was doing this earlier this
- 1:52Speaker 1: week and struggling a little bit, if I'm being honest,
- 1:56Speaker 1: just about gosh, what's going on with work lately? It
- 2:01Speaker 1: feels as though for me, I am in this pattern
- 2:06Speaker 1: of banging my head against the wall. And I know
- 2:10Speaker 1: that it's only temporary, and I believe that there is
- 2:13Speaker 1: so much goodness on the way, but things have just
- 2:17Speaker 1: been a little lonely in the world of Emily A
- 2:22Speaker 1: Body LLC. And so with that said, I made a
- 2:27Speaker 1: choice that I know already I am so much better for.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I made the choice to schedule send ten emails to
- 2:38Speaker 1: myself that will arrive over the next two months. And
- 2:43Speaker 1: the body of these emails, it's nothing game changing. It
- 2:47Speaker 1: is truly like, hey, you're doing a great job. That's
- 2:51Speaker 1: the entire body of one email. Another email is remember
- 2:55Speaker 1: when you wanted what you have now? I believe A
- 2:58Speaker 1: third one says do good and good will come to you.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'll say that again. Do good and good will come
- 3:07Speaker 1: to you. And I scheduled ten of these let's call
- 3:11Speaker 1: them affirmative emails to arrive in my inbox before the
- 3:16Speaker 1: end of March. Sometimes we all need a little boost, right,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and I found that I had the opportunity to provide
- 3:24Speaker 1: that for myself. We each have the opportunity to be
- 3:28Speaker 1: our own biggest hype human. There are going to be
- 3:31Speaker 1: days where you don't feel so shiny and grey, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: so I understand that it is within my power to
- 3:39Speaker 1: show up for myself, and that when I show up
- 3:41Speaker 1: for myself, when I believe in what it is that
- 3:45Speaker 1: I have to offer, then the universe shows up for
- 3:48Speaker 1: me in return. And so, yeah, I scheduled those ten emails.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It might sound a little silly, and you know what,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I'm okay with that because I received the first one
- 4:01Speaker 1: earlier today and it put a smile on my face
- 4:04Speaker 1: and what an awesome moment. That was a moment that
- 4:08Speaker 1: reminded me exactly what I bring to the table. And
- 4:14Speaker 1: so my prompter you this week. Maybe you don't want
- 4:16Speaker 1: to schedule ten emails, and that's totally fine. I respect that,
- 4:20Speaker 1: But what is one positive thing that you can praise
- 4:24Speaker 1: yourself for right now. What is one good thing that
- 4:29Speaker 1: happened to you in the last twenty four hours. How
- 4:32Speaker 1: can you be your own biggest hype person in this moment?
- 4:37Speaker 1: Don't overthink it. That's where we get caught up. Okay,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and now a listener question. Hi, Emily, my name is Pfeiffer.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'm a longtime listener of the show, but I've never
- 4:47Speaker 1: sent in a question before. I really admire the way
- 4:49Speaker 1: that you go about your solo adventures, and I'm especially
- 4:53Speaker 1: loving hearing about the new things you're doing in twenty
- 4:56Speaker 1: twenty five. Thank you. I am single and recently can't
- 4:59Speaker 1: seem to get comfortable with the idea of doing things
- 5:03Speaker 1: on my own, even though I really really want to.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Do you have any advice on where to begin? Thank
- 5:09Speaker 1: you so much for taking the time to read this.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Keep hurtling. Okay, this is a good one, and honestly,
- 5:15Speaker 1: this is the kind of question that comes in a
- 5:17Speaker 1: lot through my DMS as well. I want to reiterate
- 5:20Speaker 1: that I didn't really get comfortable with the idea of
- 5:22Speaker 1: spending time on my own outside of living on my
- 5:26Speaker 1: own for some times. In fact, I remember the first
- 5:29Speaker 1: time that I went on a solo vacation. I cried
- 5:32Speaker 1: on my way to the airport. I was so nervous.
- 5:36Speaker 1: With that said, I would say start small. So something
- 5:40Speaker 1: like going out to dinner on your own might feel intimidating.
- 5:45Speaker 1: It all might feel intimidating, but going out to dinner
- 5:47Speaker 1: on your own requires you to buffer against other people
- 5:51Speaker 1: if you will, whereas going on a solo date to
- 5:55Speaker 1: the movies might feel a little bit more accessible. You're
- 5:58Speaker 1: in a dark room, you don't have to think about
- 6:00Speaker 1: other people looking at you, and you're doing an activity.
- 6:04Speaker 1: You are occupied in that moment, So meet yourself with
- 6:07Speaker 1: where you're at. If you're starting, just to spend time
- 6:11Speaker 1: on your own, and I would recommend beginning with a
- 6:14Speaker 1: movie and then segue into I'm going to spend an
- 6:19Speaker 1: hour or two at a coffee shop reading perhaps, or
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm going to my favorite restaurant to sit at the
- 6:26Speaker 1: bar and enjoy a meal and then also read or journal.
- 6:32Speaker 1: That would be my secondary tip to all of this
- 6:34Speaker 1: is if you're out in the world on your own,
- 6:37Speaker 1: enjoying an experience, enjoying your surroundings, that's all find and good,
- 6:43Speaker 1: but do yourself a favor and bring something like a book,
- 6:47Speaker 1: a kindle, a journal, so that you're not sitting there
- 6:50Speaker 1: solo on your phone. I find that when you are
- 6:54Speaker 1: in the space of looking at your device and perhaps
- 6:56Speaker 1: scrolling through social media, we get into a viral of
- 7:00Speaker 1: perhaps comparison, and that is the last thing you want
- 7:05Speaker 1: during your solo time. This is time that should fill
- 7:09Speaker 1: up your cup, that should make you feel like the
- 7:12Speaker 1: badass human that you are, and content and good. So
- 7:17Speaker 1: those are my two beginner tips. As always, I'm hunting
- 7:20Speaker 1: your listener questions. Like I said at the top of
- 7:22Speaker 1: this episode, I want your feedback. I want to know
- 7:24Speaker 1: what you like. I want to know that you are
- 7:27Speaker 1: here with me, So hit me on Instagram over at
- 7:31Speaker 1: Hurdle Podcast, or shoot us an email over at Hello
- 7:35Speaker 1: at Hurdle dot us. I'm also over at Emily a
- 7:38Speaker 1: Body another Hurdle conquered. Catch you guys next time.
