With the Fourth of July just around the corner, hospitals in Kansas City are already bracing for fireworks fallout—three kids already treated before the big show. To handle the rush, the University of Kansas Health System is launching a “Fast Track” at its Burnett Burn Center, deploying a specialist on standby to quickly assess and treat fireworks injuries. The program runs from July 3rd to July 7th, following last year’s 56 patients ranging from age 2 to 67.
