- 0:00Speaker 1: I, uh, I had a frustrating uh weekend Friday or Saturday. Well,
- 0:08Speaker 1: so I have I take this medication that I have
- 0:11Speaker 1: to take once a month. Once a month. I take
- 0:13Speaker 1: it once a month. It's an anti allergy medication. Okay,
- 0:17Speaker 1: prob Katie probably knows about it. It's and you inject
- 0:20Speaker 1: yourself once a month with this stuff. And uh so,
- 0:25Speaker 1: in the past, it's very expensive, extraordinarily expensive as a
- 0:31Speaker 1: matter of fact. So in the past, your your insurance
- 0:35Speaker 1: covers some of it. But the the company that manufactures
- 0:39Speaker 1: it has a program where they coupon yeah kind of yeah,
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's a it's a copay card, and they will pick
- 0:46Speaker 1: up the rest of the They'll cover the rest of
- 0:49Speaker 1: the expense. And I don't I don't know exactly how
- 0:51Speaker 1: that works. It's it's a it's a way for them
- 0:53Speaker 1: to make money. And you know, but so so in
- 0:56Speaker 1: the past, I've been getting this once a month and
- 0:58Speaker 1: it gets shipped to me in the mail and it
- 1:02Speaker 1: costs me zero dollars. So this pastime this time time
- 1:06Speaker 1: is say the pharmacy calls me up and says they're
- 1:10Speaker 1: not covering your cope anymore. Each dose will now be
- 1:15Speaker 1: fifteen hundred dollars. WHOA yeah, And I said, why will
- 1:20Speaker 1: they not cover the kope? Well, they say, you have
- 1:22Speaker 1: secondary insurance. No, I don't have a secondary insurance. I
- 1:27Speaker 1: have insurance at my work period. Now you have, They say,
- 1:30Speaker 1: you have secondary insurance. Well, and this is where I
- 1:33Speaker 1: want to put in a plug for pharmacists. Pharmacists are
- 1:38Speaker 1: wonderful people in general. Oh yeah, they will go to
- 1:41Speaker 1: bat for you and fight for you. I go to
- 1:47Speaker 1: the university pharmacy up here. They are terrific. And if
- 1:51Speaker 1: there's ever a problem with a medication and a cost
- 1:54Speaker 1: too much or you know, they say, look, let me,
- 1:56Speaker 1: well let's see if we can take care of this,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and we'll call them and and they'll fight for you.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And in this case, this is a specialty pharmacy. But
- 2:05Speaker 1: that I just deal with on the phone. But they
- 2:07Speaker 1: were the same way. They got on the phone with
- 2:10Speaker 1: this drug company and me. But it was a forty
- 2:14Speaker 1: five or fifty minute argument with this drug company calling
- 2:19Speaker 1: me a liar and saying I have secondary insurance. And
- 2:23Speaker 1: then when I call them back the next day, they said, well,
- 2:26Speaker 1: you know, your pharmacy called and told that you had
- 2:27Speaker 1: secondary insurance. Oh man, I said they did not. Why
- 2:31Speaker 1: would they do that. They're hoping that you'll give up.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's exactly mostly with insurance companies that they're
- 2:37Speaker 2: hoping they frustrate you enough.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Oh, this is the drug company, not the insurance company.
- 2:41Speaker 1: This is the drug company, the drug manufacturer. So then
- 2:45Speaker 1: they put me on Then the guy I'm talking to says, well,
- 2:48Speaker 1: would you like to talk to my supervisor? Yes, okay,
- 2:51Speaker 1: puts me on hold. I'm on hold for thirty minutes again,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and then it then it sends me to a voicemail.
- 2:59Speaker 1: This is so and so and so and so. Please
- 3:01Speaker 1: leave your number and your name and we'll call you back. Sure,
- 3:05Speaker 1: So I do now I have to say. Finally they
- 3:09Speaker 1: called me back and said, we're terribly sorry. We've put
- 3:16Speaker 1: you through a lot of problems here, and we've we've
- 3:19Speaker 1: found out that you don't have secondary insurance and you
- 3:22Speaker 1: you will be covered as you have in the past.
- 3:24Speaker 1: We'll cover the cope with this. It almost really sorry.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It almost feels like there was some sort of audit
- 3:32Speaker 2: and they are trying this with lots of people and
- 3:35Speaker 2: hoping hoping you'll give up.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder, I don't know, just give up and
- 3:40Speaker 1: send them the money so that it goes away. That's
- 3:42Speaker 1: what people do. Yeah, but I can't. I said, I
- 3:46Speaker 1: can't pay fifteen hundred dollars a month for this stuff.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I'll have to find some other solution. You do without it,
- 3:51Speaker 1: but you know it's but mister Handity says, we have
- 3:55Speaker 1: the greatest healthcare system in the world, you know. And
- 3:58Speaker 1: I kept saying to them, you have covered me in
- 4:00Speaker 1: the past. Nothing has changed. I have the same insurance,
- 4:05Speaker 1: same everything, nothing has changed. But they get something stuck
- 4:08Speaker 1: in their head. And plus you're dealing I think with
- 4:12Speaker 1: the people that you deal with at first, they just
- 4:14Speaker 1: kind of go on a script. Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Well, and you're dealing with I hate to say it,
- 4:19Speaker 2: but AI kind of stuff where it's not people looking
- 4:23Speaker 2: at it.
- 4:24Speaker 1: The computer.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yeah thinks that you that you have second area and
- 4:28Speaker 2: they're not going to argue with that.
- 4:31Speaker 1: But again, I have to say, this is all. I
- 4:33Speaker 1: predicate all of this on the pharmacists. Oh, really terrific people.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Well bad Brad Wheeler just texted me. He said I
- 4:41Speaker 2: was ready to fly to Mexico to get Billy's drugs.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Thanks Brad, No, I'm okay. Brad, he'd do it for you.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I know you would. I know he would. But I'm fine,
- 4:51Speaker 1: You're fine. I've got They're coming, should be here tomorrow,
- 4:55Speaker 1: just in time. They said that. Pharmacist says, have you
- 4:57Speaker 1: missed a dose? And I said no, but it's getting close. Well,
- 5:00Speaker 1: we'll rush this out to you, don't worry.
- 5:02Speaker 2: So I had side my surgery, my gall bladder surgery,
- 5:07Speaker 2: and they gave me a prescription for the eight hundred
- 5:11Speaker 2: milligram ibuprofen.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Oh the big yeah, the big, the big guns. Ye yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And it says on there you know that you can
- 5:20Speaker 2: take it two or three times a day.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Oh really for.
- 5:25Speaker 2: But no, here's my here's my logic. You can take
- 5:28Speaker 2: it two or three times a day for for ten days,
- 5:32Speaker 2: but like I only take.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It once a day. Don't don't do that?
- 5:35Speaker 2: So can I take it for longer? Because I really
- 5:38Speaker 2: like the eight hundred milligram for good.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I really would like to keep taking that. No, you
- 5:45Speaker 1: don't do that. I know it's it's because I did
- 5:48Speaker 1: the same thing. I at one time on some pain
- 5:50Speaker 1: medication I had and I and I just man, and
- 5:53Speaker 1: the doctor said, are you taking it every three hours?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Like you're instructed to no, and I say no, I
- 5:58Speaker 1: just I just wait until it starts to hurt. Don't
- 6:00Speaker 1: do that. The way he described it was you have
- 6:03Speaker 1: to stay on top of the pain. I mean, I'm
- 6:05Speaker 1: not in pain like I was.
- 6:07Speaker 2: It's but it's more like that that that ibuprofen takes
- 6:10Speaker 2: care of all kinds of pains, you know, like.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Like my knees.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's not just my surgery.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It's the good stuff. You know. What I find odd
- 6:20Speaker 1: is that, Well, first of all, gene, if you really
- 6:23Speaker 1: like the eight hundred milligrams, you know you can take
- 6:25Speaker 1: that much. You don't have to have I know you can.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Take four of like a four regular advill.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Or what it.
- 6:32Speaker 2: But but the but I also know you're not supposed
- 6:34Speaker 2: to take ibuprofen for I.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Can't take ibuprofene at all anymore. Oh yeah, I have
- 6:39Speaker 1: to take a cet of menifin. And you know what,
- 6:41Speaker 1: it does nothing for me?
- 6:42Speaker 2: No, I'd be profen is a wonderful I don't.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I have no idea. Why why is it even around?
- 6:48Speaker 1: Does it? Does it help some people?
- 6:50Speaker 2: So, ibuprofen, it does one thing, and a seed of
- 6:53Speaker 2: minifin doesn't it. They affect two different A set of
- 6:55Speaker 2: minifin just is supposed to block your pain receptor.
- 6:58Speaker 1: It doesn't ibuprof and works on like inforamation. Yeah mm hmm.
- 7:04Speaker 1: But yeah, well, I haven't been to the pharmacy since January.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You're lucky.
- 7:10Speaker 2: You're not on anything.
- 7:12Speaker 1: See me every week? No, nothing, nothing, they see me
- 7:15Speaker 1: every week.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You're you're living well, Jackson.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Like I said, the one or maybe maybe you're not
- 7:21Speaker 1: the one person in our.
- 7:23Speaker 2: House that was you know, like I said, eight to
- 7:26Speaker 2: nine different medications.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Was my dog, Yeah, you know, but not you, not
- 7:32Speaker 1: one thing. Nope, you're lucky. Although I like the pharmacists.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Oh they're great. I enjoy going in there. Miss them.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Do you miss him, Carrie?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Do you miss them? They're great people up there. They'd
- 7:44Speaker 1: always say, we put beef flavor in for for for ripley,
- 7:48Speaker 1: so she'll eat it. Yes, thank you, thank you very much.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Oh that's right, they do. Pet Man's up there. Yes,
- 7:54Speaker 1: compounding
