- 1:29Some of us still carry the burden of battle.
- 1:32It threatens to drown us in our everyday lives.
- 1:35In battle, we had our weapons and combat gear to keep us safe,
- 1:39to keep us confident, but when we returned home, we were not
- 1:43armed with weapons and gear to cope with our own minds.
- 1:47I was lucky to find my combat gear, my mental weapon and it's
- 1:51called Kamago. Kamago is a drug free device
- 1:54that allows you to achieve calm in less than 3 minutes and
- 1:58moments of anxiety, stress, anger, panic or insomnia.
- 2:03Not with medication, but rather by activating the
- 2:06parasympathetic nervous system through breathing regulation and
- 2:09multi sensory stimulation. A recent study has shown that
- 2:13Comago decreases PTSD and anxiety levels in Veterans,
- 2:16helping those who are suffering and having a long lasting
- 2:19effect. Visit comago.com to learn how
- 2:22you can get Comago through the VA or with a special Veterans
- 2:26discount code. All right, good afternoon and
- 2:33welcome to another episode of the Frondosier show, Trench Talk
- 2:37Edition. You know, these technical
- 2:40difficulties, you know, you just got to go with how it goes when
- 2:42it's live, huh? All right, again, thanks for
- 2:44listening and tuning in. Got a very important show for
- 2:47you today. As always here on the Trench
- 2:49Talk Edition. Let's see what's going on in
- 2:52life today. I was sharing offline about one
- 2:57of the things that I do throughout the week.
- 2:59Twice a week now, Mondays and Fridays, I mentor 4th and 5th
- 3:06graders around emotional intelligence and just some of
- 3:12the conversations that I hear the children discuss.
- 3:18I reflect back when I was in the 4th grade.
- 3:20I mean, we all have our are eras of, of generational things that
- 3:25we deal with in school. However, it's just some of these
- 3:27conversations that I hear these 4th and 5th graders having.
- 3:32They're like adult topics. Like these are not like children
- 3:35just playing and having fun. They are at like literally
- 3:38having discussions and issues and circumstances at 9 and 10
- 3:45years old that you would think that like where are you learning
- 3:49this from? But as you look at, of course,
- 3:53you know, today's generation with social media, just with
- 3:57things that go on at home. I mean, they hear the music.
- 4:00I mean, it comes from all different aspects of life, I'm
- 4:03sure. But this year, it was last year
- 4:07I did it. It was, it was different this
- 4:09year that just, and even the principles, like there's
- 4:11something going on this right now and very emotional, very the
- 4:17language a couple weeks ago, I had to address the N word with
- 4:22them. And these are a, a group of, you
- 4:25know, between sometimes between 19 to 24 students that we have
- 4:30each week. And like I said, as a, as a, as
- 4:33a grandfather now with, with grandchildren and a five year
- 4:36old grandson, it's like, man, like how do we, how do we help
- 4:41develop our children to where they have the ability to have
- 4:47the space to share 'cause I'm, I don't think they act like that
- 4:50at home. I think they probably hear that
- 4:51in their environment and then come to school and then play it
- 4:54out. But yeah, this year has just
- 4:57been, it's just been different this year for me.
- 5:01And I, I get an hour a week with them.
- 5:05So like 2 hours since it's twice a week now.
- 5:07And I'm just grateful that I'm, I'm able to do that and plant
- 5:11that seed while I'm there to, to just share, you know, life.
- 5:16And, and, and again, they have these affirmations that they
- 5:19say, I, I'm respectful of myself, my peers, my family and
- 5:24my community. And they got them all memorized.
- 5:28But when I came on the scene, I wanted them to talk about and
- 5:31express what it is to be respectful of myself.
- 5:35And what does it feel like when you're not being respectful of
- 5:37myself or of your peers or of your family or your community?
- 5:42And believe me, they know what's going on.
- 5:44They all have, you know, they're different words that they use to
- 5:47describe their experience of what that is and, and, and to
- 5:52hear them share like ways of how they feel when they're not being
- 5:59respectful, even of themselves or their peers.
- 6:01But yet they act like, they don't even act like they like
- 6:04it's just a totally different act on the other side of that.
- 6:06So they know what's going on, but to get them to practice
- 6:10being present to that experience and how you can leave a person.
- 6:14Yeah, we say that, you know what can make you mad or make you
- 6:17anything? Yes.
- 6:18But you have to have that, that strength and that
- 6:20self-confidence and self love for those words not to affect
- 6:23you. But if they but words are
- 6:26powerful, right? And so they do know how they
- 6:30feel in their emotional mindset. But, you know, just creating
- 6:33that space for them to have that talk.
- 6:36I pray that that's enough that, you know, that will start them
- 6:40to get to practice that throughout their classroom
- 6:43because of course it it plays on in the classroom.
- 6:46It plays on on the basketball court playing football.
- 6:49So that's what I'm up to. That's twice a week.
- 6:53The lit live show, the Revolution radio show that has
- 6:58came to an end. That was a four year run over
- 7:02there when it was Dash radio. Now it turned to Lit Live and
- 7:05between the MC Knights and The Who curated that Channel in the
- 7:10negotiations of the new Lit Live platform, they did not come to
- 7:15terms. And so that show has been
- 7:17discontinued for now. I am thinking about bringing it
- 7:20here to MBR, the Christian hip hop talk show.
- 7:24So I'm either going to do that or I, I did send it to SiriusXM
- 7:31to see what, you know, what I could get over there.
- 7:33They do have a Christian hip hop talk show on their app and so I
- 7:37sent it over there. Or I might just take a break.
- 7:40You know, I got, I got a list of shows that I do and so I might
- 7:43just take a break with that one. I'm praying on that to see how
- 7:47that one plays out. What else?
- 7:49Sunday nights, of course, 8:00 PM Pacific Time, KCA radio on
- 7:53that one. The Steel live, that's the
- 7:54variety show with sports as well.
- 7:58That's my, that's my #1 show. This as well.
- 8:00That's my #1 show. Yeah.
- 8:02What else? The Beyond 2D will be coming
- 8:04back soon. Jessica took a break.
- 8:06So that one is on break right now.
- 8:08So we'll be back either this month or next month, but I'll
- 8:12let you know when that comes out.
- 8:16I think that's it. The ABA basketball teams, yeah,
- 8:19we have three ABA basketball teams in EQ athletics.
- 8:24And so we have the Ventura County Orcas, the Riverside
- 8:28County Mavericks and the in the Empire Hounds, the IA Hounds
- 8:32right now my, my partners are only allowing me to launch the
- 8:38IE hounds right now. I, I do want to launch the
- 8:41Riverside team and I would love to launch the Ventura County
- 8:44Orcas as well. But what I did was I, I included
- 8:49them into the ownership. And so now I, I, I don't get the
- 8:53only vote anymore. So I have to share in those
- 8:56conversations. So if I get out voted, I get out
- 9:00voted. So right now we're launching the
- 9:02IE Hounds for sure. They were number 10 out of the
- 9:05entire, out of the 150 teams in the ABA last season.
- 9:08They were #10 up to #5. So we want to keep that momentum
- 9:12going. And also I did, we created a
- 9:15campaign for this season called For the Love of Dogs.
- 9:19And you know, me and one of my partners, Doctor Bonds were
- 9:24talking one day and you know, I've, I've had to put my dog
- 9:29down, my Boxer down after 14 years.
- 9:32And he was talking about how he had his dog for like 17 years.
- 9:36And so we were just, we noticed that both of us was still kind
- 9:39of grieving our animals. And you know, but the eye hounds
- 9:43being the dog, a dog, I was like, well, why don't we just
- 9:48create a campaign and and around in all the different services
- 9:51for dogs and kind of and bring those conversations to the
- 9:54forefront, especially those who have grieving their animals as
- 9:58as we are. And so we're working on
- 10:01launching the campaign for this season for the love of dogs and
- 10:04this we're going to be touching aspects all the way from
- 10:07breeders all the way to the the veterinarians and of course,
- 10:12those places that cremate animals as well.
- 10:16So we're going to get all those communities together, the foster
- 10:22organizations, all the organizations, things that are
- 10:24related to animals, to dogs for sure.
- 10:26We're going to bring them together with our entertainment
- 10:29is basketball and share a lot of stories, share some content,
- 10:34share some information, some resources.
- 10:36I've been looking at stuff on on social media and I guess there's
- 10:40some issues with the president and cutting funding for the
- 10:45animal shelters. So there are things going on in
- 10:47the world around our animals. And so we're going to kick it
- 10:50off with dogs and they were going to ease the cat cat inside
- 10:55of there because I mean, I'm, I'm 55, when I grew up, you
- 10:59didn't have a dog and a cat in the same house because somebody
- 11:01was going to get eaten that day. But people have trained their
- 11:04animals to share the same living space.
- 11:07And so I'm always amazed when I see a dog or a cat hanging out
- 11:12together because like I said in my day, Nah, that that didn't
- 11:17happen. And when I had my dog, for sure
- 11:19that cat was going to be somebody's dinner.
- 11:21So those are the things that we're going to be taking on for
- 11:24the the ABA, that's the American Basketball Association.
- 11:27It's still around. And then we have a couple of
- 11:30franchises over there. I think that's it for now.
- 11:33So, yeah, if you want more information about the sickle
- 11:36cell trade, of course, you can go to WDCON, set.org.
- 11:41There have been some breakthrough conversations
- 11:44around sickle cell trade for sure, because they're starting
- 11:50to document that with sickle cell trait and exercising and
- 11:57the rhythm myelosis. There have been people dying of
- 12:03course from those complications. But the kidneys are are become a
- 12:08problem because the proteins that has been urine in in I mean
- 12:12blood in the urine. And so they're associating some
- 12:15of those issues and even the rare kidney cancer is triggered
- 12:20by sickle cell traits. So they're starting to pay more
- 12:22attention to it because it is causing health complications.
- 12:27So it is not benign. We've been battling that
- 12:29conversation since I've been at at 14 years.
- 12:32Is sickle cell trait benign or not?
- 12:34And so it took, it took some studies from overseas in the UK,
- 12:39not in the United States, but took some studies overseas for
- 12:42them to come together and document that, yes, there could
- 12:45be some problems with sickle cell trait in the kidneys.
- 12:50And, and we've seen people have complications and, and a rare
- 12:54kidney cancer that's connected to sickle cell trait.
- 12:58Oh, somebody put, they put, people have trained their
- 13:02animals pissed on the toilet. Yeah, I've, I've seen videos of
- 13:05animals using the toilet. They don't flush the toilet, but
- 13:08they definitely use the toilet. All right, so we going to play
- 13:13one more PSA and come back. I have a very important
- 13:16conversation for you coming up next.
- 13:17Of course, Big Dre is here. We got another guest coming on
- 13:20at the bottom of the hour about the 45 minute mark and we'll
- 13:25just be having a organic dialogues here.
- 13:28So again, thanks for tuning in. This is the front dose show.
- 13:31Let me turn that banner off because that is going to play
- 13:34through there. All right, we'll be right back.
- 13:51Hey, Mister man, how you doing? Hey, did you see the game last
- 13:56night? But did you see the shot?
- 13:58I lost money from that. Oh man, the shot was.
- 14:01Old man, but it was good. Yeah, what's the name?
- 14:11You really want to know. I.
- 14:13Do exhaustion, muscle spasm, asthmatic issues, unexpected
- 14:21sickle cell trait trait? Damn are.
- 14:24You serious? When I was young I found out I
- 14:26had sickle cell trait. My mom's told me.
- 14:29But I didn't have no knowledge of it.
- 14:30But when I got older, I had a child and the doctor told me my
- 14:33daughter had sickle cell trait. You know, the fact that both
- 14:36parents have sickle cell trait, there's a 50% chance the child
- 14:39may have the trait and 25% chance of trying to have the
- 14:42disease, and that's what's the count.
- 14:44Do you know that 2.5 million people in the United States have
- 14:46sickle cell trait? 300 million people globally.
- 14:49I didn't find out I had sickle cell trait until I was in the
- 14:51army 10 years. Next thing you know, I had a
- 14:53sickle cell trait exertion site, simple cell.
- 14:56I thought that was a black gene or something.
- 14:58Nah, man, the black community is number 21 out of 36,000 babies
- 15:02are being born with sickle cell disease.
- 15:04You could be a Caucasian, Mediterranean, European.
- 15:07You got a bloodline, man. There is an inherited gene in
- 15:12our community that has been forgotten.
- 15:14The name is Sickle cell trait. WDCONSCT, also known as What's
- 15:19the Count, is out to bring awareness, education and
- 15:22prevention to people all over the globe.
- 15:25Want more information? Call us now at 323-215-5384 or
- 15:31visit www.wdconsct.org. All right, welcome back to the
- 15:50Frondosa Show on MB Radio. Make sure you go to MB Radio dot
- 15:54US to check out what's going on with our veterans podcast and
- 15:58talk shows over here. They're giving veterans a voice.
- 16:01Also, we have an app, so make sure you go download the MB
- 16:05Radio app. Whatever platform you use, iOS
- 16:08or Android, you can catch, you can stream live, you can watch
- 16:12all the different shows on there.
- 16:13All the schedules are there as well for all the different shows
- 16:15here on MB Radio. So today's topic is, you know,
- 16:20it's, it's very important. I, I, I lightly glazed over the
- 16:23conversation that I do with the elementary school students
- 16:27because it, like I said, I'm just, I'm just so shocked at
- 16:29their conversation. But really, really at the core
- 16:33of today's topic, I believe it is, you know, what is going on
- 16:39with us as people today, right? And for me, when I, the work
- 16:44that I've done on myself to, to, to be in front of you, that
- 16:50sense of belonging is important, right?
- 16:52And so we know that we all experience some little level of
- 16:55being bullied. We all experience some
- 16:58conversations if we tell the truth to our self that we all
- 17:02experience sometimes not being good enough.
- 17:04So there's something wrong with me.
- 17:06I'm on my own. We want to trust people, but
- 17:09however, I don't really trust myself.
- 17:11So, and really, when I, when I did the research biblically,
- 17:14bigly, I'm not supposed to trust in man anyway.
- 17:16I'm supposed to have confidence in you.
- 17:18I'm not supposed to put all that trust in you because it there's
- 17:21expectations or things that happened.
- 17:22I mean, we're flawed as people, but at some point, what drives a
- 17:27person, what drives a person to want to take another person's
- 17:31life or what level of anger or what level of disappointment or
- 17:35despair does one have to get that that has them want to take
- 17:39another person's life in any, in any circumstance, right?
- 17:43In any level, in any age bracket, right.
- 17:45So the little girl that we talked to on Monday, she's, we
- 17:51discovered for her to be kind of like the ringleader of the, of
- 17:54the, of the, the, the group. And when we asked her like, you
- 17:58know, what's going on, you know, things like that.
- 18:00And she says, well, I was bullied at the, I was bullied at
- 18:02the other school. And so now at this school, to
- 18:06protect herself, she's angry and and she comes across as with her
- 18:10anger, she leads with that upset and that frustration because she
- 18:13was bullied at another school. Now that's not saying it's right
- 18:16or wrong, but we're pointing to is her experience.
- 18:20And so we we talk about it, you know, we glaze over these
- 18:23conversations, but what is really at the root of a person's
- 18:29mindset that gets them to the point of where they want to do
- 18:32harm to another person? What is that?
- 18:35Because the commandments are those #1 and #2 is to love God
- 18:39and to love your neighbors as the same as you love yourself.
- 18:43So how much does one have to love themselves or not love
- 18:46themselves to take another person's life?
- 18:48And we see it all day long. But we have a guest today who's
- 18:52going to share some information and some of his background and,
- 18:56and what he's discovered and some of the things he's
- 18:58experienced around. I believe this top this topic
- 19:02because at the end of the day, and we're human beings, we want
- 19:04to belong, we want to be included.
- 19:06But there are things that happened to us that sometimes
- 19:10our minds make these corrupted decisions and then we start
- 19:13living from these upsets and these frustrations and, and that
- 19:17can cause another person to want to harm another person.
- 19:20And then you have mass shootings.
- 19:22We have things that happen at school.
- 19:23We have all these different things that the media, you know,
- 19:27displays for us. And then how do we take that?
- 19:30Do we tolerate those conversations because it hasn't
- 19:32hit, it hasn't hit my front door yet?
- 19:34Or do we really, you know, search and try to figure out how
- 19:37we can help these subjects? And for me, teaching that
- 19:42emotional intelligence, even at that level of 4th and 5th
- 19:45graders, you know, we pray every day that that they hear and
- 19:48apply something that they hear from us at those schools.
- 19:50So with no further ado, our special guest today is Mr. Bart
- 19:55Womack. Man, how you doing today?
- 19:57Doing well by yourself? I'm good, I'm good.
- 20:00Thank you for hanging out today with us.
- 20:02Yeah, I appreciate you having me.
- 20:04And me, I'm so enthralled with what you've been talking about
- 20:06so far and everything. I'm like, what am I going to go
- 20:08with this? I want to jump in on some of
- 20:13that other stuff. Yeah.
- 20:13Yeah, do me a favor, introduce yourself, and then we'll get
- 20:16started. How's that?
- 20:18Yeah. So I'm Bart Womack commenced our
- 20:20men retired and I say so I may watch her for over 29 1/2 years,
- 20:25honorably retired in 2006. Did did various things since
- 20:31retirement. But now I'm a public speaker and
- 20:34security consultant to provide proactive situation awareness
- 20:39strategies to mitigate insider threat and mass shooting attacks
- 20:43in academic institutions, the workplace, in places of worship.
- 20:49And I, like I said this, this has been going on for since I've
- 20:52been born. I mean, this, this is not brand
- 20:54new conversation. But before we get into that, why
- 20:57that that why you're here? What?
- 20:59What had you joined the service so long ago?
- 21:03Yeah, well, it was, it was, it wasn't intentional.
- 21:10You know, I was 17 when I graduated high school and I was
- 21:13always working like I had a paper route, you know, going way
- 21:16back, that long paper route for your audience, you had to put
- 21:19some down the shoulder. So you don't say what about it
- 21:22is it is a paper, a newspaper route?
- 21:26What is that thing? And I always, I always work,
- 21:29right? So I told myself because I was
- 21:3217, I'm going to continue to work for a year.
- 21:36And then when I'm 18, you know, after a year that I would go to
- 21:40college, right? So I didn't make it to that year
- 21:42end up joining the military. And that happened by the fact
- 21:46that I was my next oldest brother had wrecked a car and I
- 21:50used to drive to work and then I had to start catching the bus.
- 21:53I was in between transfers bus and went to recruiter's office.
- 21:56And because it was cold, I went in there to get warm.
- 21:59And they had the whole spiel. You know, one thing led to
- 22:01another and then probably a total of four months later, you
- 22:05know there was in the military. Yeah, wow.
- 22:10Anybody before you proceed, it was in the.
- 22:14Oldest brother had served in the Navy, but so he's like 19 years
- 22:18older than me. So his time and doing it and me
- 22:20actually, I, I never saw him in uniform.
- 22:22So he was in and out and I didn't know anything.
- 22:25I mean, I knew that he had served, but he didn't really
- 22:27talk about anything. So it wasn't like, you know,
- 22:29military family by any means. I wasn't following anybody.
- 22:32I was I was super naive about the military got invasion tried
- 22:36and said, hey, we had have this airborne school or this airborne
- 22:41orientation and I said, what's everyone said jumping out
- 22:44airplanes. I'm undergoing to that.
- 22:46Then it said they paid 55. I was mother like where I going?
- 22:50Where do I sign? I'm chief $55.
- 22:55That was it. OK, I'm ready.
- 22:59Yeah, I I mean to make it to the rank of command * major.
- 23:04I mean, that's, that's the top of the chart looking back on, on
- 23:11each level of rank, if you can remember, how was that for you?
- 23:15I, I, I know for myself, the, the pride and me and my identity
- 23:24going from E4 to E5 from that next, that, that level of
- 23:26responsibility, I think for me is where I noticed when I, when
- 23:30I reflect back that I, I kind of lost myself in, in, in that
- 23:34rank, in that responsibility that I became like Sergeant, you
- 23:39know, Sergeant dossier, like I became Sergeant, staff Sergeant
- 23:41like, because I say that because in my transition out of the
- 23:44service, when that rank in that uniform was taken away from my
- 23:48medical retirement, I, I was all, I was didn't know who I
- 23:51was. So, you know, looking back from
- 23:54your level and looking back, do you notice like for you that the
- 23:58different changing 'cause you went through the whole, you went
- 24:00through the whole list? Yeah, yeah.
- 24:04I think we're always given some leadership challenge or
- 24:09opportunity long before we are actually in a leadership
- 24:13position and and it's around us. So we see it.
- 24:16So we get to make a decision for ourselves about how we're going
- 24:20to approach that, you know, when it's our turn, even if they're
- 24:23the smallest task, take four guys over there and do police
- 24:26call, like how you're going to do that, right?
- 24:27Especially when they're your peers.
- 24:28So you learn long before you put the rank on.
- 24:30So when I put the rank on it, it didn't feel any different.
- 24:36The pain, you knew that was coming, but did everything else
- 24:39feel any different? OK, leading people.
- 24:41But you had done it to a degree, you know, so you were
- 24:43comfortable doing it. You didn't have, you know, a lot
- 24:47of people as a Sergeant. So I, I felt pretty comfortable
- 24:50doing it. And then long and behold,
- 24:53shortly after that, you know, I, I put in to be a drill Sergeant.
- 24:58I, I was AI was a drill Sergeant as a Sergeant.
- 25:01So I'm not sure if you can do that now.
- 25:03And I. Was 23 years old.
- 25:06Oh wow. Yeah, I was a drill Sergeant for
- 25:09two years, about nine months I was a Sergeant.
- 25:12The rest of the time I was a staff Sergeant, but I started at
- 25:1523. My my years as drill Sergeant,
- 25:17ages 23 to 25. So.
- 25:21Now, now, now that was different, You know, I remember
- 25:23that in terms of leadership, because you're taking people who
- 25:26just come off the street, don't know anything about the military
- 25:28and you have to teach them everything in this eight week
- 25:30period of time. So now it's now it's a little
- 25:33bit different and they haven't been LED or if they hadn't have
- 25:35been LED in this style. And then you have to develop
- 25:38your style as a drill. Sard versus, you know, versus
- 25:41the sardine is completely different.
- 25:43Like it, it's, it's a, you know, what's the persona, You know,
- 25:46you're leading the country's men and women and you, you, you're,
- 25:51you're making them a soldiers going to go out there to a
- 25:53fighting force. And you learn very, very quickly
- 25:56that you, you just came from that side and you don't want,
- 26:00you don't want a unit getting someone who's unfit, untrained,
- 26:06not ready for the military, etcetera, etcetera, even though
- 26:08they're going to go into the IT and all that type of stuff
- 26:10afterwards. So there's another influence of
- 26:12leadership that's involved in when you get the permanent
- 26:14party, but still, if you allow them to go to AIT, you have to
- 26:20be responsible for that. So, so I remember, you know,
- 26:24later on at time first class when I was a tourist on and
- 26:27you're getting a new soldier and you're like, who's your drill
- 26:29sock? I'm going to go smack him in the
- 26:30face. Yeah.
- 26:33Especially, you know, imagery guy, imagery guy, right?
- 26:36So they come out of ULSA, but they had the same drill, saw him
- 26:39for 13 weeks. Like I'm going to slap him in
- 26:41the face because he screwed up. But that's the, that's the,
- 26:47that's the, that's what you have to embrace as a drill saw.
- 26:51And they had to do that at a very young age.
- 26:54I, I didn't, I didn't think about the age.
- 26:56It was like, well, after my time where I was, I was that old.
- 27:02Yeah, pretty good. You know, so I'm not rating
- 27:06myself. I'm just saying I could look at
- 27:08some 23 year olds and say you there's some things you're ready
- 27:12for and some things you aren't ready for, you know what I mean?
- 27:14So yeah, so, so that was, that was that's probably when I knew
- 27:19I wasn't definitely in charge of people because it was completely
- 27:21different than what you had to where you got them and where you
- 27:24had to take them to. Right then left there, staff
- 27:26started, went to Korea. Now I'm on the now I'm on the
- 27:29building, the frontline of Korea where you were actually in and
- 27:33out of the JSA with the, with the, you know what enemy, you
- 27:36know, the Korean people's Army, right?
- 27:38So that that's different when you're squatting literally and
- 27:40denying people, you have a real mission that can pop off at any
- 27:43time, you know, and it didn't pop off.
- 27:45I won't get an act because it's it's it's a short, long story,
- 27:48but it it takes a path, but different level of leadership
- 27:52when you know you have to do certain things and there's a
- 27:55real enemy there and he hadn't done anything in a while.
- 27:57But while I was there, we actually got in a firefight with
- 28:00the KPAI can say a long story long time ago, but it's that
- 28:04level of preparedness that your squad has to be and you have to
- 28:08be as a leader, you know, So it's you know, it's eye opening
- 28:11and completely different, you know, sort of level and what's
- 28:16what's unique about that. And the same thing when you're
- 28:17when you're squad leader, you know, you've been the team
- 28:19leader, you've been to Joe, you know, all those duties and
- 28:22responsibilities. So now you can you can say that
- 28:25I won't actually do anything that I haven't done or not
- 28:28willing to do. But more importantly, I've
- 28:30already, you know, so can't you question, can't you?
- 28:33Question. Not at that level, no.
- 28:36I can perform it right now if I need to show you, but I don't
- 28:39think I need to show you. I'm going to tell you you're
- 28:42going to do it, but I'm going to tell you that man.
- 28:44Will you believe that? Not only do I know what I'm
- 28:47talking about, but he actually did, you know.
- 28:49So then you have to relay at the squad.
- 28:52You know, they come in cognate, they're filling their owns too
- 28:55as as a new staff. Starting and stuff, right?
- 28:57I've been charging. More people now you know what's
- 28:59not you know what I didn't charge of a team anymore in
- 29:01charge of a whole squad. There's more people
- 29:03responsibility and after a while, if they're really good,
- 29:06they're looking at your job and and I welcome that.
- 29:08You know, I'm I'm trying to transmitting me.
- 29:10So when I'm not here is going to be taken care of.
- 29:12So, but that's what happens each time you go up, you know, then
- 29:16your first arms, the same thing with those platoon Sorens and
- 29:19they're little they're they're obviously they're smarter than a
- 29:22squad leader, but they know they have expectations of what the
- 29:27first arms should be. And likewise, they've done that
- 29:31job for a year and a half, 18 months, couple years.
- 29:33They're eyeballing your job. They know they need the rank for
- 29:36it. And they're like, could you
- 29:37please like be sick for a day so I can just.
- 29:43Just be sick one day. Just one day.
- 29:45Give me one day. I was first on 'cause no one
- 29:49even says how long right it was like how long right I was.
- 29:52Yeah, it was actually 23 hours. The dude came back an hour, hour
- 29:56early or whatever, right. Anyway, but, but, but if it, it
- 30:04keeps you sharp because you know, you, you have to go out
- 30:07there and perform every day. Everybody's looking at you.
- 30:10Now, we always talk about the thing and you're talking about
- 30:12this with those, those students in terms of leadership.
- 30:16It's one thing to say, lead from the front, be the example and
- 30:21all that type of stuff. And it's another thing to say,
- 30:25do it as if, no, do the right thing when nobody's watching,
- 30:29but easier to say than it is to do.
- 30:33And that was, that was, it wasn't the hardest thing.
- 30:36I, I prided myself on actually doing that like 24/7 weekends.
- 30:43I might be seen I need to do the right thing soon as I'm not
- 30:47doing that at the first arm or point as a commands arm major
- 30:51like you, you, your credibility is gone #1 and you've created a
- 30:55new standard. But you have to live.
- 30:59Not everybody does even the same ranks they they everybody does
- 31:04not live it. You have to live it.
- 31:05I think that's the separation, not not that you're out there
- 31:08like I'm trying to be better or separate myself.
- 31:11You have to live it and that will show in your soldiers in in
- 31:15the entire post is going to see that dude lives that not
- 31:21overboard, not overboard. I'm just saying.
- 31:24Not overboard. Yeah, exactly.
- 31:25Not overboard, but. You're not going to catch me,
- 31:28but I can stay in front of, you know, those 4000 troops and say
- 31:31you ain't going to never catch me because I'm not doing it.
- 31:35I'm getting caught. You're never going to see me do
- 31:38it because I don't. It's that level of, of
- 31:43leadership that builds, you know, more credibility and
- 31:46really not that you now that you're trying to do this in the
- 31:49Army, but you know, it builds a brand of, of leader.
- 31:54No kidding. And and that's, and that's
- 31:58really, you know, what we want in, in our society, you know,
- 32:02and, and, and as you describe that, as you say that for me,
- 32:05I've learned to not just do that, but to be that and, and
- 32:08experience being that. And that's what people, because
- 32:11like you say, your character is, is inside of that.
- 32:14And if you get, if you get caught doing something, you
- 32:17know, that could mess it, that could fracture your character,
- 32:19that could fracture all of that stuff that you've built with
- 32:22that little place with those soldiers.
- 32:24So, yeah, no, thank you for that.
- 32:26That's very, very important. So one of the main reasons why
- 32:30you're here is, is to discuss some of these topics.
- 32:33And I, I know I want, I want to touch on the mental aspect of
- 32:39it, but I want, I want you to kind of open up the discussion
- 32:42and then I'll, I'll kind of follow along and, and, and ask
- 32:46my questions from there. But what do you want to start
- 32:47around this question, this conversation of?
- 32:50Yeah, I'll, I'll show this story of what people see in the
- 32:53background. You can see the embedded,
- 32:55pardon. You see a little bit of those
- 32:57letters, but it's embedded in here, which is the story of the
- 33:00March 23rd, 2003 insider threat attack against 101st Airborne
- 33:06Division by a fellow American soldier.
- 33:08So we we were poised, we were in Kuwait during across the border
- 33:10going to Iraq. You know, it's one O clock in
- 33:13the morning. A scenario grenade comes into my
- 33:16tent followed by a frag grenade. Chaos ensues the grenades
- 33:20throwing into the next tent. There's just a gunshot and then
- 33:24the grenades going throwing to the next tent.
- 33:26So at this point in another gunshot.
- 33:28So this .2 have been shot. Frag grenades have gone into
- 33:32three different tents where people are sleeping, the first
- 33:35being mine and that's all shot. The, the commander is hit by
- 33:41shrapnel and that first tent I, I managed somehow to get out of
- 33:46here about going through through all the details right in the
- 33:50second tent after hearing a gunshot and and frag grenade,
- 33:53they begin to stand up. So grenades thrown in there
- 33:56through them. Get it pretty good in there.
- 33:57Then that same thing happens in the third tent.
- 34:00So we're searching for insurgents, not been able to
- 34:01find them at all. And just just Fast forward, we
- 34:06have mass casualties going on and trying to get them medevac
- 34:09out of there. So complete and utter chaos.
- 34:12I realized something had to have changed in the camp.
- 34:14So what changed? The learning interpreters come
- 34:16in that night, so it has to be them.
- 34:18Go find them. We find them, interrogate and
- 34:20learn to have nothing to do with it.
- 34:22So now we're back on the insurgents that we've seen.
- 34:24No sign up. Then we do accountability check
- 34:28and learn the one person is missing.
- 34:30So are grenades, ammunition. That becomes our #1 suspect.
- 34:33And of course we find out that it was one of our own soldiers
- 34:36who committed the attack. He has one of the reasons for
- 34:39doing it that we later found out two years after that in the
- 34:43trial we had written anti American things.
- 34:48I'll read a couple to you. I do not like the military that
- 34:52had too much control over people's lives.
- 34:54I suppose I'm just anti government.
- 34:56I wrote that in 1990. Three. 1996 he wrote anyone who
- 34:59stands in front of me, she'll be considered the enemy and dealt
- 35:02with accordingly. 1996 he writes Destroying America was my plan
- 35:05as a child and as a juvenile and in college on life will not be
- 35:09completed as America is destroyed.
- 35:11Destroying America is my greatest goal. 1998 he joins the
- 35:14military. So this was planned, you know,
- 35:17so we're thinking like we're thinking after he's captured
- 35:21like what what did he put out there?
- 35:24What was the sign that that we that we missed?
- 35:26Well, we didn't miss a sign because man, this all along long
- 35:30before he even joined the military.
- 35:32So once in the military again, this happened March 23rd 2003 in
- 35:37February, he wrote in his diary, I'm not going to do anything as
- 35:40long as I stay here at Fort Campbell.
- 35:42But as soon as I'm in Iraq, I'm going to try to kill as many of
- 35:44them as possible. He ends up killing two and
- 35:47wounded thirteen others. So we start getting thinking
- 35:51about the mindset of a person who does this.
- 35:53Now, why do you why, why are you anti government?
- 35:57Why are you anti military? Why do you hate America and, and
- 36:01you're American more important, why do you join the military?
- 36:03You know, so religion doesn't pull the trigger, but you know,
- 36:08it was his religious beliefs. He even went on to say that you
- 36:12guys are coming into our country and you're going to kill our
- 36:15women and rape our children. That's what we said after after
- 36:19we caught them and I had to digest what is OUR our mean.
- 36:25Like I said, it was all put together later at the trial when
- 36:28we learned that he had those things in his diary.
- 36:30So, so my take away from that was that, you know, no
- 36:32profession, level of education, ideology or religion is above
- 36:36reproach. There is no profile inside a
- 36:38threat as closer than you think. You know, we would have thought
- 36:41that someone who wore the same uniform, took the same oath,
- 36:43etcetera, etcetera would be the least capable and having a
- 36:48mindset of doing something like this to his own fellow soldiers.
- 36:51But obviously not, you know, so I said take away for the world
- 36:56is that if it happened inside a close knit brotherhood of the
- 36:59armed forces that could have in any campus community or
- 37:01organization at any time and anywhere.
- 37:04Domestic terrorism is our new reality.
- 37:07You know, someone at the wide loss and bodies manually.
- 37:09You start thinking, what do I do with this?
- 37:11Like, what am I supposed to do with this?
- 37:13You know, God, God save me for a reason when other two other
- 37:16people that were in my team was three that they were they were
- 37:19wounded and others wanted, like I said, two people killed, you
- 37:23know, but but why me? You get that survivor's remorse.
- 37:25So I I knew that of course, something and so I wrote the
- 37:29book embedded enemy, the insider threat.
- 37:33And after you have the story of the book, I put in there the
- 37:38situation aware of the strategies to try to to
- 37:42enlighten people to have some tools they can use to mitigate
- 37:46an insider threat. And long behold, you know, mass
- 37:49shooter attack long before they were happened as frequently as
- 37:52as frequently as as they are now.
- 37:54So. Those strategies are trust no
- 37:58one. I heard you align what the Bible
- 38:02says about trust. I was like, wow, so poignant,
- 38:04so, so timely, right? And and and I didn't know that.
- 38:08So I appreciate you sharing that, you know, but but our
- 38:11strategy is trust no one. And you know, I'll see.
- 38:14I'm going to say that after coming out of an attack like
- 38:17that, if it happened in that manner, someone's supposed to
- 38:20supposed to have your back, shooting you in your back, like
- 38:24one person who killed a shot point black in the back, you
- 38:26know, so trust no one. And when I say that I want
- 38:29people to think about how they trust.
- 38:31I know that they're going to trust somebody.
- 38:33I like what you said, what the Bible says, I'm going to look
- 38:35that one up. But if I say trust no one,
- 38:38people are going to think, well, I have to trust somebody.
- 38:40And some people's the way they approach that is I'll trust
- 38:45until they give me a reason not to.
- 38:46I think wrong. So I say no one, they're going
- 38:51to think a little bit harder about how they trust.
- 38:53And that's what I want them to do.
- 38:54Start thinking about how you do it.
- 38:56Next one is observed listening report like we might see
- 39:00something, but but are we doing anything about it?
- 39:03And it's more than see something and say something in my opinion.
- 39:06Like you, you saw it happen. You might hear it or you might
- 39:11just see it, but then you need to report.
- 39:14I was an apartment building manager in in LA and you let me
- 39:18know how we're doing on time. And I just took over and
- 39:22realized this one light was was out when I came out this door,
- 39:25you know, and it was like January, you know, So 5:00 PM
- 39:28starts getting dark, right? And I realized the light wasn't
- 39:31on. So I go back in the building and
- 39:33I get a pen and a piece of paper.
- 39:35And I come back out again and I'm checking all the exterior
- 39:38lights so I can get them replaced.
- 39:40And I say to myself, if someone's watching me right now,
- 39:42they should think this is suspicious behavior.
- 39:44This case. I'm casing the building now,
- 39:47this apartment building in LA on Gately, right across, I mean,
- 39:51directly across the street from UCLA.
- 39:55Anybody have been UCLA? Most people around here don't
- 40:00look like me unless they play football.
- 40:02So you got that going on. And so I said, everyone looking
- 40:07at me and said thank, this is special behavior.
- 40:09So I go back in, come out another door, do some more
- 40:12checks to go back in the house and start checking into your
- 40:15lights, right? So I get to the fifth floor
- 40:17here. Freeze.
- 40:18Well, you know, I've been around long enough to know what that
- 40:20means. You know, someone's pointing a
- 40:22gun at you and they're behind me and I hear the voice.
- 40:23It sounds much younger than mine's like, OK, I'm compliant.
- 40:26I want them to be my experience. I want, you know, tricky finger,
- 40:30you know, and say put your hands up a dude, drop the pen in the
- 40:32paper. It has me on my back.
- 40:34I get handcuffed. Then they say, well, you think
- 40:36the one that was called in, I'm like, no, I am the description
- 40:39because remember, I just told myself, no, it is me.
- 40:42All all you did is going to happen if someone was paying
- 40:45attention and long and behold they were.
- 40:47So I applauded the person who was paying attention because
- 40:50it's right up the alley of observe, listen to report.
- 40:53There was nothing to hear but they observed.
- 40:55Was it to be suspicious behavior and then they reported it.
- 40:58Now I'm not sure who escalated to the level to have 5 police
- 41:02officers show up armed for the first who was called in to have
- 41:08a pen and a piece of paper. I don't know if that was
- 41:11dispatched or they had nothing else to do so everyone joined in
- 41:14on the call. Not sure I'm going to, so I'm
- 41:17coming. I don't know what that was.
- 41:18Anyway, in my opinion, the right thing was done.
- 41:22And, and so, so when I'm talking to the audiences, you know what
- 41:26I'm speaking. I, I, I like to share that one
- 41:29because the worst that happened was they got the guy, but
- 41:34nothing was wrong. No, again, way too many police
- 41:38officers showed up. You know, next one is know your
- 41:40neighbor alluded that and and you're in the beginning as well.
- 41:45And what I mean by that, I mean just the person next door, but I
- 41:47mean like your fellow student, your fellow, your your fellow Co
- 41:51worker know begin to know people, the more you know about
- 41:54them. And you have to get all in their
- 41:56business. But they will begin to talk.
- 41:58And once they begin to talk, they're going to tell you stuff.
- 42:01They're going to tell you something to happen at home.
- 42:02They're going to tell you on the way to work.
- 42:04So and so cut them off. That was the second time.
- 42:06It's the same guy on the same route.
- 42:08Now I got the license plate. I know somebody that's Pi.
- 42:11I'm going to, I'm going to I'm you know, if you are paying, you
- 42:15are listening to if you know them, they'll tell you, right?
- 42:18And it goes, it goes on, you know, the more, but just take
- 42:21some time to know them. Then the next one is listen,
- 42:24don't just hear. I used to work at a military
- 42:26college and these students were in the classroom, sophomores, 19
- 42:30year olds, criminal justice class to get on the subject of
- 42:33guns and see what I'm saying. I have a gun and I have a gun.
- 42:37This one guy says why have an AK47 and they kind of laugh and
- 42:41it's in the trunk of my car. Now the professor was in the
- 42:43classroom and he the professor knows that guns aren't allowed
- 42:47on campus. All right, but professor doesn't
- 42:50do anything, but a fellow 19 year old student was listening
- 42:57to the point where it sounded a matter of fact.
- 43:01You have to listen to where something sounds a matter of
- 43:07fact. Oh, why?
- 43:07You just hear, you know, someone told you say hey, you're trash
- 43:12and you don't do it right away. And they tell you three times
- 43:14like I know you hear me. Yeah, I hear you, but I'm not
- 43:17desperate to you right now. You know what I mean?
- 43:19So. So it's a big deal.
- 43:22It tells me that this is what happened in class.
- 43:25Someone said, yeah, AK47 instead of trunk of his car.
- 43:28It sounded a matter of fact. I don't know what you're going
- 43:30to do with it, but I, I just got to tell you, right.
- 43:33So almost along the lines of, of listening, your reporter, right?
- 43:37But more importantly, it was the listening of just hearing
- 43:39because there's other people in the classroom who did nothing to
- 43:41include the adult professor. So he walked him to his car, get
- 43:46about 100 yards from his car. So I just want you to know if
- 43:48you get to my car and the AK47 in the trunk of my car, no, no
- 43:53ill will was playing with that. He was supposed to link up with
- 43:56a buddy and take it over to his friend's house, to his friend's
- 44:00dad's house, who lived in a rural area.
- 44:01And dad was going to lock it up and they would come out there on
- 44:04the weekends and shoot it, but they missed the link up to
- 44:06death. So but his mistake was like I
- 44:09said, no, your neighbors and mistake was running his mouth to
- 44:14the point of all day, of all days of class in criminal
- 44:20justice class, the day they're talking about guns.
- 44:22Guess what you do, you do nothing.
- 44:26You don't talk, you know what I mean?
- 44:28But they will tell you if you are a situationally aware,
- 44:32right? And the last one is gut check.
- 44:34Like your gut is your strongest sense.
- 44:37It will, it will tell you a lot of things.
- 44:39So when these things happen, these shootings, right, no
- 44:42matter where they are, we'll hear they will.
- 44:44I always thought, I always thought, well, your gut hate
- 44:49that, you know, but you didn't do anything with it.
- 44:51Now we have dead people and wounded people.
- 44:54He even attacked 3 weeks ago, almost 3 weeks ago I think at at
- 44:57Florida State University. He was 2020 years old, the son,
- 45:04stepson of of a deputy sheriff. That's the guy he used to commit
- 45:10the attack. But he was in this, he was in
- 45:12this political group on campus there.
- 45:16I don't know what they meant this political group and the
- 45:20only rule they had was you couldn't be Nazi.
- 45:25That was it. And dude, begin to express
- 45:30extremism towards, you know, super, super, super far right.
- 45:36You know, politics doesn't pull the trigger here.
- 45:38I'm just telling you that the guy was in the group, right?
- 45:42And, and also white Supremes. He got extreme with both to the
- 45:52point where the president running the group kicked him
- 45:54out. You know, you violated the rule.
- 45:57It was obnoxious, but he was so extreme with it that they kicked
- 46:01him out. So extreme.
- 46:03Yeah. Yeah.
- 46:04But when when did we hear about that?
- 46:05After he killed 7 people, eight people.
- 46:10That's when it injured others to me that that was the sign.
- 46:14You have to pay for what they're giving you.
- 46:17I'm paying. You're already in a group.
- 46:19So it's already borderline something.
- 46:21And I think that, you know, people have a belief and we we
- 46:26are encouraging people younger and younger to believe in
- 46:29something like believer, whatever or fall for nothing
- 46:32type of thing, whatever the saying is.
- 46:33But we encourage them to believe in something.
- 46:36So we shouldn't be surprised as parents.
- 46:38Great. And when they go out and now
- 46:39they're believing in the same way.
- 46:40I didn't mean that you're not the wrong.
- 46:42I meant this not that when someone got to them radicalized,
- 46:48radicalized is OK, you know, But then when you are so against
- 46:54someone else who's not for what you were for, and then you
- 46:57become extreme about it. And after extreme, it just go
- 47:00just a matter of time. And that, and that's what
- 47:03happened to him now, he didn't even kill people.
- 47:05That was against what he was against.
- 47:07Two of the people that he killed was a, a, a guy there for the
- 47:12day to he, he provided all the food and stuff in the cafeteria.
- 47:17He ran that contract and he was walking around outside with the
- 47:21like the cafeteria manager. He didn't know if they how they
- 47:24were aligned or anything like that.
- 47:27But when you become extreme, it's just a matter of time.
- 47:32And when you become extreme, you don't just sit at home and
- 47:35become extreme. It'll happen like that.
- 47:38You've got to do something, to tell somebody something.
- 47:40So that's why we had to be situation aware, you know.
- 47:43So when I came up with these strategies, when the book came
- 47:45out in 2013, it's still new because you just got to find out
- 47:49about it, right? I didn't even, I began to find
- 47:53them at the time. They would be relevant for quite
- 47:55some time because while I was writing the book, I began to
- 48:00watch what I perceive to be inside a threat attacks.
- 48:04So I'm not talking about every shooting going on is one.
- 48:07I'm saying if it follows the model and it follows that these
- 48:11strategies can help them mitigate it, then in the lines
- 48:14with it, then I'll talk about and I'll use it as an example.
- 48:17So I had hope that it would, that the strategies would, would
- 48:26last for a while and, and, and be able to work in these
- 48:30situations. I, I couldn't fathom at the
- 48:33level of attacks that that have happened since that time.
- 48:38I, I, I did not see that. Yeah.
- 48:42But to this day, no one's the wiser in in an academic
- 48:46institution or the workplace about these attacks because they
- 48:49they don't even know that's just about these straight.
- 48:52They don't know about anything because no one talks about that.
- 48:54That that's why they're proactive.
- 48:56Yeah, exactly. Run high and fight once the
- 48:59bullets start. But you need that too.
- 49:01But when I'm talking about, we'll stop it before it happens.
- 49:04Let's stop the shooting. What leads what?
- 49:06Leads up to that, Yeah. What's with the patterns that
- 49:09leads up to that, right? And.
- 49:11You think about the risk of that little group, right?
- 49:14And this guy, this guy is this. The disposition was so bad they
- 49:19kicked him out, but he didn't go tell anybody on campus like we
- 49:24have this ticking time bomb that feels this way.
- 49:28Watch out if you are getting you didn't tell anybody, right?
- 49:32So that's why I, I, I watched the attack and I wait two or
- 49:35three days as they do their investigation because that same
- 49:39type thing comes out all the time after the fact.
- 49:43After the fact. After the fact.
- 49:45The fact after the fact, yeah. It's, it's, it's, it's, you
- 49:50know, we say we, we, we communicate well, but
- 49:56communication is all also listening.
- 50:00And we say that we're good listeners, but a lot of times we
- 50:03listen to react or to respond. And like you say, you miss those
- 50:08key descriptions, those keywords that people say that are on a,
- 50:15on a, on a level of extreme versus just a casual
- 50:18conversation. Like we, we, we overlook those
- 50:21even with our, you know, with our children, you know, with,
- 50:24with our, with our loved ones, Like we don't, we hear them.
- 50:29But like you said, I, I believe it is there's, there's a level
- 50:34of still a level of confidence, a level of self-confidence that
- 50:38has to be had for me to say, hey, you know what man, I heard
- 50:41you say that. What's going on with you like
- 50:42that? That's a different kind of
- 50:44person than to be like I heard it and then let it go.
- 50:48That's a level of I'd like to tell students that it is cool to
- 50:52be correct. I I need you to step in some
- 50:55things that are said beg a question.
- 50:58Some things that are done in front of you beg a question.
- 51:01UNL be a student in in ANBA class comes in in all black
- 51:06fatigues in military boots and all that in the NBA.
- 51:11That's fine if the subject was that, right?
- 51:15But teacher, that professor doesn't say nothing.
- 51:18Fellow students don't say a word.
- 51:20Now nothing happened. But in your eyes, in this class,
- 51:25when a person wears this and hadn't worn that before, it begs
- 51:28the question, I don't care if you make a joke about the
- 51:31question, but this is the education that that that
- 51:33students and people need. They're not they don't they
- 51:36can't think fast enough to be sad enough to say you can make a
- 51:38joke. Like, OK, do you have an
- 51:40audition as a military guy? Did you just join special forces
- 51:44or you dealt it or you me, you can make a joke about it, but it
- 51:47begs the question, let's hear what's coming out of their mouth
- 51:50because we don't know if they're going to go to wherever we go
- 51:52right back with the gun. It, you know, they they're
- 51:54making an assessment then having this class next week.
- 51:57I was coming soon, you know, I gave a warning.
- 52:01Doesn't this look odd? Does it happen?
- 52:03You an NBA? But no one said anything.
- 52:06Nothing happened. My point is, some behavior and
- 52:09some things beg a question. They put it right out there in
- 52:12front of you. But that type of thing happens
- 52:14all the time. Yeah, it's, it's, it's the
- 52:18ability to really, you know, we and we talk about, we, we talk
- 52:23about pay attention to your surroundings.
- 52:24Like I, I tell my daughters, always pay attention to your
- 52:28surroundings, like look and see what looks out of place, what
- 52:31doesn't fit the environment, you know?
- 52:33And so we, we say that. But then again, like you said
- 52:37it, it has to be some like some level of skill set to that.
- 52:43We have to be able to introduce, you know, scenarios or whatever
- 52:49that is. Like, hey, look, you got to be
- 52:51able to pay attention. You got to have the confidence.
- 52:53Yeah, it's, it's not that you're snitching or you're telling on
- 52:55somebody, but it's, it's, it's a level of safety, right?
- 53:00You know, it's a level of safety.
- 53:02I was, I was traveling one time and I had my golf bag and it's
- 53:05kind of a kind of hard plastic container, you know, so it's a
- 53:09golf. So it's, you know, it's, it's
- 53:10pretty round and tall, right? And I get into a Uber, you know,
- 53:14Uber driver says, is that a gun case?
- 53:18Like, OK, we obviously never seen a golf bag.
- 53:21But again, I appreciated him asking because it begged a
- 53:25question. OK, I'm a driver.
- 53:27I need to know if there's guns going going to be in my car,
- 53:29even though this thing going in the trunk.
- 53:30But it begged a question. Wow.
- 53:34Yeah, I can tell them all that I applaud as it's a golf bag or
- 53:37whatever. I didn't I didn't even applaud
- 53:38them for looking at this and and you know, saying a whole begging
- 53:42question thing. But my point is, he was
- 53:44situationally aware enough to know that.
- 53:48What is that? Yeah, having seen.
- 53:51I don't want to get it. Yeah.
- 53:54So if you got to get guns in there, you might have small
- 53:56guns, too. You weren't driving?
- 53:58Yes, Nobody. You got a gun in that backpack?
- 54:00Right, right. I ain't.
- 54:02Trying to get that. My point is, you know, he saw
- 54:05something and asked something. Yeah, let me take this
- 54:10commercial break. This is the Frondosier Show,
- 54:14military broadcast radio trench talk edition.
- 54:17Bart Womack is here. I hope you've learned some some
- 54:20information here. This is some stuff that is very
- 54:22important. I'm going to bring up Big Dre
- 54:24after the conversation after this PSA break here and let him
- 54:28ask him, 'cause he's made, he made a comment over here.
- 54:33He's been a security assessment on threat.
- 54:35Yeah. So he, he definitely has some
- 54:36some feedback for you in this dialogue here.
- 54:39This is the Frondosie show. We're going to come right back.

- 57:11All right, welcome back to another episode of the Farron
- 57:13Dosier Show, Trends Talk Edition.
- 57:16Wow. Again, I hope you had an
- 57:19opportunity to just kind of listen to these conversations
- 57:21because it is very important for us to, we say, pay attention, we
- 57:26say these things, but do we really implement these right?
- 57:31And, and, and, you know, for me to, to be able to relate to
- 57:34this, maybe not maybe because I was a, a soldier myself 24 years
- 57:39and I still have some of that listening ability.
- 57:43But then how do we teach this? Like, how do we help other
- 57:46people not just talk about it, but talk from it and pay
- 57:51attention. I think that is very important
- 57:53for people to pay attention. Let me bring in Big Drake.
- 57:56Big Drake, man. What's happening, man?
- 57:57Hey, you know man, once again, salute man, salute man.
- 58:04I was sitting back watching, meditating, thinking about what
- 58:08Mr. Womack was saying and he kept in that background 31 years
- 58:13security expert. So I know running for City
- 58:16Council and that's one of my main measurements is to get
- 58:20these incentives in the schools about that assessment of
- 58:24schools. And I called the shadow master,
- 58:25what I called it, what he was saying when the kids come and
- 58:28wearing, you know, all black clothes in school and asking
- 58:30that simple question. How I would look at it is pay
- 58:33more attention to your surroundings as a student
- 58:35individual. Like he was saying, I always say
- 58:38a little Bobby in the corner and you got people bullying him.
- 58:41You know what he's going through.
- 58:43And you know, all of a sudden the parents start changing every
- 58:44day. Every day now.
- 58:45I love Bobby, got black hair and nails.
- 58:47And. Right.
- 58:49And he used to be a, he used to be blind.
- 58:51And I. Didn't he looked?
- 58:52Before in the class and what is Bobby He absent?
- 58:54No Bobby sitting right next to you.
- 58:55He didn't change your parents. You don't pay attention.
- 58:57So then Bobby goes home and gets on on YouTube.
- 59:00Oh how do you how do you say more good.
- 59:03He told his father to go to the house now Bobby coming school.
- 59:05Most schools will stop going through the bags checking bags
- 59:08check most of them stop now and let their guard down Some of
- 59:11this America we we got it. You don't have it and then the
- 59:14kids decided I'm pissed off. I go at school that there has
- 59:17mass shooting, you know, so it's it's sad that we're not teaching
- 59:22that. So I taught that with my female
- 59:24bodyguards. Archangels taught them the best
- 59:27when Kevin trained them. Our serratic areas.
- 59:29My girls will tell you they are not.
- 59:30They don't go nowhere now without that.
- 59:32They don't park next to vans and none of that stuff.
- 59:35They park the lidded area. So you used well, Mr. Woolman
- 59:38was talking. I have I have my body of shield
- 59:40armor going on. I'm like, man.
- 59:43Let me bring him to the stage. Let me bring him on.
- 59:46This is real man. Salute you, Sir.
- 59:49All right, take the. Good service.
- 59:51Yeah. Well, expert, expert.
- 59:53I mean, I, I'm an expert in it. My uncle was a CIA Army Ranger.
- 59:58He he was, and he came from experience of training with,
- 1:00:02with him. I used to go in the and mom
- 1:00:03bought it and he had a cabinet trained up in the snow with him
- 1:00:06to shoot snipers, shoot with him, all that stuff.
- 1:00:08We, we learn hand to hand, you know, the survival stuff.
- 1:00:12And I came back, started teaching it.
- 1:00:13And I ended up putting A-Team together and we had a team for
- 1:00:16all these years. And I got in the game for 31
- 1:00:18years. I worked with the biggest names
- 1:00:20in the industry. I work with royalty from
- 1:00:22Princess Diana to James Brown. I've assisted a lot of people in
- 1:00:26different accolades. Then it comes to schools.
- 1:00:29The school shootings. I had a measurement.
- 1:00:31I went to the the schools to try to put the measurement in the
- 1:00:33school. They laughed at me.
- 1:00:35They said, oh, yeah, we, we don't need that.
- 1:00:36No schools. Oh, you need it in the schools
- 1:00:38because that's what the kids are.
- 1:00:39Are are are mainly white people dealing with Bulldadism in
- 1:00:43schools. You need it there.
- 1:00:44And for some reason, Mr. Alberto, he don't, he don't put
- 1:00:48that big nose in no business and make make these schools a better
- 1:00:51place in LA. They, they, they give them kids
- 1:00:54that burning people's their hair out the LA students pushing kids
- 1:00:57on the 2nd floor, burning kids with with fire things.
- 1:01:01That's a threat. That's the actual adjustment.
- 1:01:03And that's what I did. No one listen, I don't know how
- 1:01:07we're going to change that. I mean, you got any solutions
- 1:01:10how you would change that? Yeah, I I think they need to
- 1:01:14hear that. The approach is proactive and,
- 1:01:17and, and not reactive. And I was going to say this
- 1:01:21earlier that, you know, as parents, really, there's this
- 1:01:27thing called a proximity illusion.
- 1:01:29And the closer you are to it, the more you believe it ain't
- 1:01:32going to happen. It ain't going to be our
- 1:01:34children until it's our children.
- 1:01:37I feel, I feel sorry for parents all the time.
- 1:01:39Except. For the ones who.
- 1:01:40Are buying their their kid a gun.
- 1:01:42I don't feel sorry for them because I don't know what the
- 1:01:44hell you expected but but for the ones who you know and they
- 1:01:49don't see the signs they don't listen they don't observe.
- 1:01:54They just it's just their kid doing what their kid does so
- 1:01:57even the thing like like you said earlier, it's telling you
- 1:02:01that, but do you say that? Well, parents, the closer you
- 1:02:05are to it, you don't hear it in the same way.
- 1:02:09So you think they care to Florida State, you telling me
- 1:02:13that you you have that level of extremism?
- 1:02:17I'm not saying it was taught in the home, but you trying to tell
- 1:02:19me one that ever came up in that house right now it came up.
- 1:02:23He might not have. He might.
- 1:02:25Not have took the. Conversation to the extreme but
- 1:02:27it definitely it wasn't a situation where it wasn't
- 1:02:30mentioned at all at all yeah at all right, but it's.
- 1:02:34Those things that proximity. Illusion, the closer you are to
- 1:02:36it, the more you believe it ain't going to happen.
- 1:02:37And that's what's happening in the schools.
- 1:02:39They think, well, you know, we had nothing like we had some
- 1:02:41fires and stuff like that and this stuff doing some stuff, but
- 1:02:45it ain't going to be like that. And so they they try to wish it
- 1:02:48away there. There was a school shoot in They
- 1:02:53were Santa Fe, TX in 2019 and. I'll tell you about.
- 1:02:58The attacker in a minute, but I went to hug this little girl
- 1:03:01because she said this. I always knew it was going to
- 1:03:06happen here. Now where did she get that from?
- 1:03:09Like what I'm saying? Standpoint, but say that.
- 1:03:14But guess who won't say it? The administration.
- 1:03:17Bingo. The administration wasn't saying
- 1:03:18it. Bingo.
- 1:03:20But the students are saying it. So they're like begging for for
- 1:03:24something, you know, so the dollars has to be put into to
- 1:03:29the training, you know, so when I go speak, I mean, it didn't
- 1:03:31cost that much to bring me in and, and facilitate a class to
- 1:03:34do a training and, you know, all that stuff and whatever to save
- 1:03:38lives versus some other stuff that they're spending money on,
- 1:03:43you know, so it, it, it does, it does cost you some money.
- 1:03:47But you know, I get AI get a college and I say, what do you
- 1:03:50charge? I say, what's the, what's the
- 1:03:51student's life worth? OK, what's your life worth?
- 1:03:54Obviously, silence happens. Right.
- 1:04:00Budget. Let's negotiate.
- 1:04:02But you. Know that's Bentley you're
- 1:04:04driving as a principal, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:06One student's life. I know that.
- 1:04:08My talks are going to say what people say, all of us in the
- 1:04:11audience. But how much?
- 1:04:12One student might work. Yeah.
- 1:04:14OK. But then you, you can afford me
- 1:04:15if you care about that. So, I mean, I understand your
- 1:04:18job as administrator, but you have student Gene.
- 1:04:20You have nothing, you know, so but that's high school when
- 1:04:25you're talking about the kid changing their nails and all
- 1:04:27that. He he wore the school he had
- 1:04:31wore it at a time a certain he said born to kill.
- 1:04:36I mean, you know what I mean something right.
- 1:04:39And then he frequently wore in Santa Fe, TX.
- 1:04:43He frequently wore like almost daily, a trench coat.
- 1:04:48Yep. When it's 8595°.
- 1:04:51Darn straight. Yeah, most of the time, right.
- 1:04:54And and now now 85, nine degrees, like OK, it rained 4
- 1:04:58times during school year, maybe 5, maybe 5.
- 1:05:03Yeah, wow. I'm.
- 1:05:05Getting 10 for the host, Yeah. You wearing it on days?
- 1:05:09Those 10 days plus those other days.
- 1:05:11It begged a question. I want to hear what would come
- 1:05:15out, what would have come out of.
- 1:05:16His mouth. To me, if I see that and it's
- 1:05:1985°, whether it ain't raining or whatever, and I said two days in
- 1:05:22a row, I mean as administrator, and I don't care how old they
- 1:05:26are, they need to know some history.
- 1:05:28What what, what does that mean? Miss Adams?
- 1:05:31You, I mean with the church coating school just about Well,
- 1:05:34well see what Trish is noted to me.
- 1:05:36What what is associated to me is that your whole mindset and your
- 1:05:40whole body mean that you're shameful, you're shame of
- 1:05:42something happening to you. When you cover the body up, when
- 1:05:45it, when it's when I learned the martial arts, when you cover it,
- 1:05:48it shows that your abundantly of your your your confidence is not
- 1:05:52good When you cross your hands mean you don't really care When
- 1:05:55I teach people when I was learning Mai Tai Chi.
- 1:05:57Back in the the. Keto my sensei had always tell
- 1:06:00me when you do this right here and you greet your, your your,
- 1:06:03your opponent, you never take the eyes of your opponent.
- 1:06:05He's always bow. Most people come down and do
- 1:06:08this right here and you so you bow.
- 1:06:11It's like a deer. People say, why did the horses
- 1:06:13have this right here? They have to concentrate and
- 1:06:15they're running for they can't see what's next to them.
- 1:06:17They're probably the horses. So when you put them triscoat on
- 1:06:20you're you're blinding everybody to the point that I'm selfish.
- 1:06:24I'm tired of it. I'm a cover up and no one can
- 1:06:26see me. It's in their mindset that no
- 1:06:28one's going to see me pull this 12 gauge shotgun out and the
- 1:06:32kids are coming to school doing it.
- 1:06:33The Columbine prime example, those doors just walked around
- 1:06:36for weeks. That's how I want it.
- 1:06:38That's that's how I saw it, because I think this is a.
- 1:06:40Copycat World. People are seeing it and they
- 1:06:43are doing it. How can I pull it off?
- 1:06:44Even even attack that embedded aim attack that that I survived.
- 1:06:48You know, six years later, a major in the Army did it at Fort
- 1:06:51Hood, Texas. Yeah, I've been with that.
- 1:06:53There's some years after that. A kid.
- 1:06:55In 2020. One, this kid joined the
- 1:06:57military to learn to just to learn the trade.
- 1:07:00He was, he was working with ISIS and giving them military plans
- 1:07:06to attack our troops when they were deployed, giving our
- 1:07:11fighting taxes to do that. And he wanted.
- 1:07:12To deploy SO. He could help them kill fellow
- 1:07:16soldiers. It is a copycat world.
- 1:07:18So they saw this guy do it in 2003 and like, well, I can do it
- 1:07:22too because it ain't nothing change.
- 1:07:23But when I was writing a book, I said, if they don't tell you
- 1:07:27nothing, keep doing what you're doing, keep getting what I want
- 1:07:30to try as well for the City Council I want to make.
- 1:07:32It put a city manager in LA and let the voters know you can vote
- 1:07:36on it or get some private funds to teach the school that the
- 1:07:40principal teaches teachers proper way of training certain
- 1:07:43drills. We you can vote, the voters can
- 1:07:45vote that measurement to put money inside.
- 1:07:47If it's if it's a dollar inside gasoline tax for school safety,
- 1:07:51then we need to do the next election and stop playing games.
- 1:07:54You want to put another another $0.25 on gas tax?
- 1:07:57How about 2510 on some security tax, you know, for secure our
- 1:08:01schools. So that's why I look at it.
- 1:08:02That's why I want to I'm going to put measurements I want to
- 1:08:04have. I start running the City Council
- 1:08:06that's meant for my main job is the security.
- 1:08:09I'm going to call you * major. It's Mr. Womack that the the
- 1:08:16the. Conversation we're having is
- 1:08:17like you said, that. This like the end result, it's
- 1:08:19like the after the fact, right? And you want to implement these
- 1:08:22conversation beforehand and again as as I open up the
- 1:08:27conversation the the. Heart of people, the heart of
- 1:08:33the man. The identity crisis like we just
- 1:08:36why why do parents not think that children don't deal with
- 1:08:42these identity. Crisis, I mean.
- 1:08:45To me, that's what I'm looking at.
- 1:08:46At this end of the day, human beings, we want to belong and if
- 1:08:50we don't have some type of identity, even if it's sports or
- 1:08:54whatever, I'm susceptible to political parties to find that
- 1:08:59connectedness, especially if I don't feel like I'm connected to
- 1:09:01my family. Like there's a lot of stuff that
- 1:09:04leads up to even this part of the conversation that to me.
- 1:09:08It's just still. Missed.
- 1:09:10It's still not there. I mean, you know, parenting is a
- 1:09:13tough job. You.
- 1:09:14Know it's more. Than just having the kids, it's
- 1:09:17especially, I mean, the parents have to keep up to date with
- 1:09:19what's happening in society, what could be happening at
- 1:09:22school. I mean, watching the news and
- 1:09:23see what's happening. Something that's happened in
- 1:09:25Iowa can happen in, in California, You know, just just
- 1:09:28a matter of time. And, and, and with this thing
- 1:09:31right here, the 13 year old student is finding out about it
- 1:09:34for you to come home from work because they're already seeing
- 1:09:36the thing to happen in Iowa and they, they decide where they're
- 1:09:39going to follow it, whatever take toward it, share with
- 1:09:43somebody else. You can see that.
- 1:09:44And they, they are much smarter now and where they can outsmart
- 1:09:47the parent and parent and parents don't have their
- 1:09:50household in in some form of order.
- 1:09:56And that, that's what makes it hard.
- 1:09:57In addition to, like I said, that whole proximity illusion
- 1:10:00that the closer you are to it, the more you don't think it is
- 1:10:02going to happen just right there in front of you.
- 1:10:04But I mean, I couldn't fathom that.
- 1:10:07You hear that too. The the parent who thought they
- 1:10:10knew in the end was their interview.
- 1:10:12I never would have thought that's their proximity move.
- 1:10:18Well, I'm in the. Process now with my team
- 1:10:20developing the Actors Student school app that's going to be
- 1:10:24implemented when when we a kids alert can see some of the people
- 1:10:27who can see that going to happen can alert there's a possible
- 1:10:31school threat in the school alert not the kids be just
- 1:10:35pulling just be pushing it. You'll go straight to operators
- 1:10:37and look we have a possible kid is pretty hostile.
- 1:10:40We walk around there acting kind of weird and you and you alert
- 1:10:43the the the principal's office. They let the whole world go on,
- 1:10:46school, go on panic reach the school or no, because school
- 1:10:49police are just a waste of time. Why, they even got uniforms on.
- 1:10:53I see them at a donut shop during the school hours.
- 1:10:56Don't you put me on the school property the whole time while
- 1:10:57school's in. I've been seeing them everywhere
- 1:10:59in LA, boy, don't you? And then that LAPD took over
- 1:11:02them, so they had to be on campus now and they put them in
- 1:11:05plain clothes now. Now putting you need to put them
- 1:11:07in plain clothes. They need to be like janitors.
- 1:11:09Well, you should be doing them every day.
- 1:11:11Remember we had proctors in high school.
- 1:11:12That's where they should be at in plain clothes proctors when
- 1:11:16they should be. They blend in.
- 1:11:17You'll never know when I'm talking to schools, you know.
- 1:11:21Because sometimes it may they want to try to protect the
- 1:11:24student. They, the students shouldn't
- 1:11:25hear this. I think the student should hear
- 1:11:27at every level because there's nothing I'm talking about that.
- 1:11:31They don't know. And I'm providing proactive
- 1:11:34strategies to mitigate it. And those aren't scary.
- 1:11:37It's just situation awareness that they don't know anything
- 1:11:39about, you know, but they think that they're protecting the
- 1:11:42student from OK, well, let's talk to this, the, the faculty
- 1:11:44and staff there because you don't know either.
- 1:11:47You're not, you're not doing it either.
- 1:11:48So let's talk to you. And then you, you'll filter it
- 1:11:51down. But they, they don't, they, they
- 1:11:54don't get it as well. But I think for a school who the
- 1:11:59the start again, the better you, the more you know your student,
- 1:12:04which is the know your neighbor part, the more you're going to,
- 1:12:08the more you're going to find out.
- 1:12:09So if I'm a principal, I'm trying to get the best
- 1:12:14communicators of my faculty and staff.
- 1:12:17You know, like you went to school when you went when we
- 1:12:19went to school, Mr. so and so, Miss so and so now I can go tell
- 1:12:23her anything. Man, we was cool when they were
- 1:12:25the football culture, whatever they were.
- 1:12:27There was always 1 teacher, if not a few that you can just go
- 1:12:31talk to, right? That's who they need to use.
- 1:12:35Let Mr. or Mr. so and so befriend as many students as
- 1:12:38possible, because when this thing is going to go down over
- 1:12:41here, like like you talked about Mr. Evans and some that that
- 1:12:44happened in some of the schools or whatever, the people won't
- 1:12:47care. But something happened.
- 1:12:48Well, that's already planned. It's not, it's not, it's not a
- 1:12:53hasty thing that happened. It's already playing and
- 1:12:56students know some of them just want to be onlookers.
- 1:12:59They want to film it or whatever the case may be.
- 1:13:01So they know one of them can go tell Mister so and so who's
- 1:13:05befriends all the students. Hey, this is going down, but I
- 1:13:08just want you to know about you. Don't tell anybody I told you.
- 1:13:11They have to have that person that that's a start on the
- 1:13:14inside right there because they can make it.
- 1:13:16They're not going to the resource officer.
- 1:13:18They ain't going there in, in fact, when the shooting is
- 1:13:21going. Down these kids the. 14151617
- 1:13:25year olds, they're so smart and they're attacked they're taking
- 1:13:28out the resource officer first. That's the only threat.
- 1:13:30Let's get that one first. Now I'm going to do whatever I
- 1:13:32want to that's happening, but I I would love to let.
- 1:13:37Go you off the air and put something together for workplace
- 1:13:40and school. I have a lot of connections,
- 1:13:42principals and stuff. I would love to do that with
- 1:13:44you. I can get us in the schools.
- 1:13:47OK, let me, let me bring. To the deck.
- 1:13:51Oh. Oh.
- 1:13:54Oh, the legend. The one the only the legend.
- 1:13:58Frozen. Yeah, Ronnie, you got a good.
- 1:14:01Signal over there, man, Riley, he got he got the name.
- 1:14:03I should I? Should I?
- 1:14:04Had a signal? Wait a minute.
- 1:14:06What in the world? Let me see.
- 1:14:07Give me. Give me double jacks.
- 1:14:08Give me double Jack. I was wondering why that?
- 1:14:13That image looked the same. It didn't.
- 1:14:14I'm like, is he looking? In the screen down there, he
- 1:14:16froze down there. That's why he looked, you know,
- 1:14:18the movie froze, he froze it, froze it.
- 1:14:21But a jumper jacket? Is saying come on.
- 1:14:22That yeah, legendary. You know what I mean?
- 1:14:25But yeah, we, we, I would love to do that, man.
- 1:14:27Definitely. We have an icon legend, man,
- 1:14:29over the couple of ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:14:31Legend we got. We got Mr. Mr. Bill Montgomery.
- 1:14:35Over here in the What's happening, Bill?
- 1:14:38Hey man, I'm just, I'm just. Happy to be on.
- 1:14:40With you, With you brothers man. I'm going to listen in salute
- 1:14:43you, Mr. Hidden Figures. Powerful man, Lord.
- 1:14:46On yeah, man. I mean, I hear you.
- 1:14:49Guys talk about some. Schools, man you.
- 1:14:50Know that? That's my sweet spot.
- 1:14:52Yeah. Sweet spot.
- 1:14:54Sweet spot. Sweet spot.
- 1:14:57The sweet spot is not that sweet.
- 1:15:00It's an after the fact discussion, man.
- 1:15:02We're trying to keep people safe.
- 1:15:08Sometimes it works. Right, but everybody has to be
- 1:15:12involved. So the year 2018 a 14 year old
- 1:15:16student had posted on Julian Edelman's account, his his
- 1:15:22Instagram account right. You know who Julian elements
- 1:15:25also on this account that he was going to shoot up.
- 1:15:29He said watch the news because I'm going to shoot up the
- 1:15:32school. Oh wow, I remember that.
- 1:15:34I remember that didn't. See it but someone saw it.
- 1:15:39And it told him then he told his assistant he went in Boston that
- 1:15:44time, told his assistant who was in Boston.
- 1:15:46She told the Austin police who contacted the Ford Huron police
- 1:15:50in Michigan and they were able to foil the attack.
- 1:15:54You know, so, so it works. But when it started with someone
- 1:15:56being in situation aware to see where this kid had posted that
- 1:15:59thing, said he's going to do that, right?
- 1:16:01And then there's another one. There's an exchange student.
- 1:16:06He told his friend that hey, don't come to school on, you
- 1:16:09know, a certain date because I'm going to shoot up the school.
- 1:16:15And had the courage to be a. Hero and go report it so that
- 1:16:19attack was foiled. So you think about this, the
- 1:16:21exchange student so you had to come over here for someplace
- 1:16:23else has a guarded close to it. You get the what you get that
- 1:16:29proximity illusion where they don't know what's going on.
- 1:16:31This kid had bought various parts online to put a gun
- 1:16:36together. See that don't happen in Los
- 1:16:39Angeles? That's a beat down.
- 1:16:40LA you tell your your fellow friend I'm.
- 1:16:44Going to shoot up lock. High school on modern day or
- 1:16:47Dorsey, you get me down. I love you brother, I put you.
- 1:16:53Behind what happened to do so? I know what happened LA at all.
- 1:16:56No, it ain't what happened. We don't pay that up here.
- 1:16:59It's a whole new ball game. Yeah, all the other places, man.
- 1:17:03I exchange ass with exchange students.
- 1:17:06Exchange yourself back to your country.
- 1:17:10Exchange your hands. What you want to do?
- 1:17:12It's crazy. Man, the world, it's the
- 1:17:15parents. The parents ain't paying
- 1:17:16attention to their kids. Yeah, man, That's that's that's
- 1:17:20that's why. You know, that's why at least
- 1:17:22the ability to go into these, you know, elementary and middle
- 1:17:25schools at at that level. Bill has the power to do that,
- 1:17:29but I do have the power to do that.
- 1:17:31Because people listen to people who have who have initiatives go
- 1:17:34in and tell these kids, hey, have a National Safety day.
- 1:17:37We'll never have it for school. We have this, we have a apple
- 1:17:40pie day and a famous hot dog, geez, burger days and French fry
- 1:17:44day. And it's.
- 1:17:45Crazy The National Hot Dog Day. Really the head with your kid
- 1:17:50get shot at school on Thursday eat that hot dog, but you have
- 1:17:53national hot dog day. It's, I mean we, we, we pick our
- 1:17:56like you say, like you say, we don't, we don't.
- 1:17:59Pay attention until it's at. Your front door and then now
- 1:18:02it's going to happen. They're going to start talking
- 1:18:04about like what we should. Have done how did we miss the
- 1:18:07signs and but well you never pay attention all alone that's how
- 1:18:11so far removed from it you ain't never going.
- 1:18:14To. Going to solve it, man.
- 1:18:15You didn't do anything. So I'll I'll love to Mr. Mr.
- 1:18:19Woman, get with you. And put some big thing together.
- 1:18:21I have a couple connects to the mayor's office, somebody sending
- 1:18:24counsel people I can talk to the Holly Mitchells and about in
- 1:18:28different districts. Yes hey, we do a safety day for
- 1:18:30women for kids teaching kids how to defend themselves when it
- 1:18:34comes back to attackers. So yeah, I love to that and and
- 1:18:37and that and that and that listening skill we like I said.
- 1:18:40We say we listen, we say we pay attention, but a lot of it is
- 1:18:43reactive. A lot of it is is not.
- 1:18:45We don't, I don't pertain to me, so I'm not paying attention.
- 1:18:48I don't care about all this. Exactly.
- 1:18:50It does. You do, though.
- 1:18:52It does. So you just, you got to pay
- 1:18:56attention. You got to get off this thing
- 1:18:58for for a minute and pay attention that that's that's
- 1:19:02that's a huge distraction. I call the future.
- 1:19:04I call the future ex-wife. You're back, right.
- 1:19:07You're back to right. You, you back, you back.
- 1:19:09Knee. Bad knee.
- 1:19:10Allen. Really, man.
- 1:19:11Good. Wow.
- 1:19:13Yes, Sir, Bill's, Bill's saying. What's going on guys?
- 1:19:18Bill's saying legend, What's up man?
- 1:19:20I've been telling you about. The last few days I said Roddy
- 1:19:23could be on the street. Hey, I'm glad.
- 1:19:24Oh my God, we had a little technical difficulties there.
- 1:19:29Logging in so many people crashes.
- 1:19:32He's crashing the Internet for Ron and my man Drake.
- 1:19:36It's all y'all fault. There we go man.
- 1:19:41Ladies and gentlemen. It's all good.
- 1:19:42The man. The man. 1970s if y'all.
- 1:19:45Was around the 70s. And didn't know what a burger
- 1:19:47was until Rodney came along and said.
- 1:19:52It's too. Big for my mouth, everybody,
- 1:19:53Black said. We going to try anyway.
- 1:19:56My mother bought like 15. That's right, she.
- 1:20:01Came home and said she was on a commercial last.
- 1:20:03Night when y'all were in. The bed, I told.
- 1:20:06That we were we going to eat, she said.
- 1:20:08What do you want, jack-in-the-box?
- 1:20:09We're going to tell you. Yeah.
- 1:20:11Two team jump jacks. After that day, it was hooked on
- 1:20:14every Friday with Jumber Jack night every Friday.
- 1:20:17I found a house for over 10 years, man.
- 1:20:18I saw the name and before his picture.
- 1:20:22Now I'm thinking. That's what I wanted right
- 1:20:34there. That's what we.
- 1:20:51Brother, listen, I've been knowing I've been knowing for
- 1:20:53Ron for a while, been knowing Dre for a while.
- 1:20:56Bill, man, these are these are class act people because they
- 1:21:00care about the community. They care about a positive
- 1:21:04message. They care about helping the
- 1:21:05youth. I like being around good people
- 1:21:08and like you, brother. It's a pleasure meeting you too,
- 1:21:11man, because we we're very this time that we're in more than
- 1:21:16ever, we need to keep the youth motivated.
- 1:21:19We need to show them opportunities.
- 1:21:22That's why, you know, Trey's doing what he's doing Mr. Adams
- 1:21:25and and going to be making his mark in local politics and doing
- 1:21:29his thing for Ron. He's been doing such great
- 1:21:32things, you know, telling his story and and being able to
- 1:21:36really help shine a light on sickle cell and so many
- 1:21:39different other things. And I'm, I'm just fortunate
- 1:21:43enough to be able to be in the collection of good people.
- 1:21:47And my career, yes, I started out 1972 and worked with all the
- 1:21:54greats from Sammy Davis junior to George Burns to Mel Brooks to
- 1:21:59I can go on and on and on. And but now is the time that
- 1:22:03we're building. And so, you know, between being
- 1:22:07with Bill and the hidden pioneers and work with Bill and
- 1:22:10you know, Bill's, you know, Bill and I are developing ATV show
- 1:22:15called hidden garages with young people.
- 1:22:17And you know, it's just a, a real cool time for us to be all
- 1:22:22working together and making our mark in broadcast, in business
- 1:22:28and politics and and, and definitely through education.
- 1:22:33Yes, yes. Now one thing.
- 1:22:35I want to say I'm sure everybody feel the same way after.
- 1:22:39People that are listening right now.
- 1:22:41Rodney is inspiration for us black Americans because for a
- 1:22:45brother like him, for like him being in seven and all these
- 1:22:49years of Hollywood, never heard of Rodney going to jail, never
- 1:22:53seen no mug shots. And that's a that's a that's I
- 1:22:56mean, how many you people you know in the industry right now
- 1:22:58and and get a mug shot in Hollywood almost every other
- 1:23:01day. Robert Downey Junior, he broke
- 1:23:03the record and he was he was they would let him they would
- 1:23:06let him out of jail to do movies and stuff they had never been
- 1:23:09done. Let a brother go to jail.
- 1:23:11You wouldn't get no vin rings, but get out of jail.
- 1:23:12You do No, no part in the movie. You going to stay right.
- 1:23:16But but but but hey. Yeah, well, see, that's honestly
- 1:23:21I didn't want to. Dre brother, I didn't want to
- 1:23:24test the system, I didn't want to and so I had because it
- 1:23:30apparently for us it don't work the same.
- 1:23:32So I decided not to try that at all.
- 1:23:35And being and. And me, you know, growing up in
- 1:23:40Long Beach. I grew up with a family who you
- 1:23:43know, I saw my dad, he was a hard working man and my mom, she
- 1:23:47always took care of everything and just to be able to be a part
- 1:23:50of it. And once my career started, you
- 1:23:53know, my brother and sister, my sister Beverly Lee and my
- 1:23:57brother Kenneth Wayne, we all were signed up.
- 1:24:00It wasn't like I was some golden child.
- 1:24:01My, my sister actually was the first one in our family to land
- 1:24:05a commercial and she landed a commercial.
- 1:24:09And then my brother, he went out for the audition for the famous
- 1:24:13Coca-Cola commercial. Remember, I like to teach the
- 1:24:16world to sing in perfect Harmon. So my brother, he auditioned and
- 1:24:21went out and was a part of that. And then I was the baby of the
- 1:24:24family. I got the call for
- 1:24:26jack-in-the-box and was just blessed and fortunate to land a
- 1:24:31career or, or an actually an, an audition with jack-in-the-box.
- 1:24:36And at the time, what a lot of people didn't know back in 1972,
- 1:24:40jack-in-the-box was in foreclosure.
- 1:24:42They were all the way on the East Coast and they were losing
- 1:24:47the company and they got all the way to Texas.
- 1:24:50And that's when they made a corporate decision to say if we
- 1:24:53let this go any further, we're losing this company.
- 1:24:57So when they were just a West Coast operation from Texas to
- 1:25:00California, that's when they decided to do this last ditch
- 1:25:05effort to have this campaign, this jack-in-the-box commercial.
- 1:25:09They just wanted a boy, a girl, white, black, they didn't care.
- 1:25:13They just called 100 kids in and they were hoping for the best.
- 1:25:17And I landed the commercial and so.
- 1:25:22And that's what. Pulled them out of.
- 1:25:24Pull them out of. Bankruptcy and so, you know, 50
- 1:25:27years later, the company still in they, they've got a, they got
- 1:25:31a little bit of hiccup going right now, but you never know.
- 1:25:34That creates an opportunity for me to to re emerge again with
- 1:25:38them and do some work already ready.
- 1:25:50To Go and Mr. Womack, you know I am.
- 1:25:53You hate, you know me. I.
- 1:25:54Call about online on the air all the time I'm going to call you
- 1:25:57out again all you corporates at jack-in-the-box.
- 1:26:00Y'all know for a fact the reason why people eating eating the
- 1:26:03jumbo Jack is cousin's brother over here to the you're thinking
- 1:26:07about. Hey now in in in the industry.
- 1:26:12It's like they they're taking a few chances on new things, but
- 1:26:15they're going back and doing sequel or prequel or recoil They
- 1:26:19they got so many cools going on. We don't know what they are
- 1:26:21exactly exactly. Oh yeah, the.
- 1:26:24Audience right, but I just. Think about that.
- 1:26:26You think about that Mister Ribby of of 72 and now a world
- 1:26:31was then commercial then and then, oh man, that's a that's a
- 1:26:35classic beginning all over again.
- 1:26:47Hey you. Know what?
- 1:26:48It's a no brainer. It's a.
- 1:26:50Marketing no brainer because our generation now have kids and
- 1:26:56families and and if they say you know, I remember back in the day
- 1:27:00when I was a young man and like you Dre and and eating a jumbo
- 1:27:04Jack and now shoot, you know, you you still get to take a pit
- 1:27:08stop by and grab one and and you know that's what it's all about.
- 1:27:12Yeah, what you ever do? I'm going to feel myself.
- 1:27:14I'm going to go up and say, hey, it's 2.
- 1:27:15Bits for my mom. How do you been telling me,
- 1:27:18Jumbo Jack? That's right.
- 1:27:35That's right and that man. Should be ashamed to sell a
- 1:27:37little box. Head Man with the little jacket
- 1:27:38box of his head. Hide his face, be afraid to get
- 1:27:41you get a check, that's what it is.
- 1:27:43But you put Snoop Dogg in the munchie meal and and you give
- 1:27:48Ice Cube his own. And Ice.
- 1:27:50Cube would say. What did they?
- 1:27:51Say, wait, when Snoop saw you, tell me what Snoop told you he
- 1:27:54saw you for the first time. I I actually I bumped in the
- 1:27:58Snoop. And I was at the the night that
- 1:28:02actually was really funny. My homeboy is Flavor Flav from
- 1:28:04Public Enemy. And so that was the night that
- 1:28:07they roasted Flavor Flav on MTV And, and what happened was Snoop
- 1:28:16was there as part of the people that was roasting Flav.
- 1:28:19And I'm tell they said some of the most horrendous stuff.
- 1:28:22The Flav I just ran. I just it was, it was so rough
- 1:28:26that it was funny. And I was just like, Oh my God.
- 1:28:29But you have, you know, if you going to be roasted, you got you
- 1:28:32open yourself up for that. But we were all backstage.
- 1:28:35And so I saw Snoop. I never met him.
- 1:28:37You know, he's from Long Beach. I'm from Long Beach.
- 1:28:39He was on the east side. I was on the West side.
- 1:28:42And I said, man, I want to meet Snoop.
- 1:28:43So we're backstage and I just talk him to him.
- 1:28:46And I, I tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around.
- 1:28:49I said, hey, man. I said, I just want to say hello
- 1:28:51to you. And he's like, yeah, man.
- 1:28:52I said, hey, I'm Long Beach, man.
- 1:28:55Rodney Allen Rippy. He said, what?
- 1:28:57Rodney Allen Rippy? And he freaked out.
- 1:28:59He was like, man, everybody's Rodney Allen.
- 1:29:04Rippy. I was like I was.
- 1:29:05Like, I couldn't believe he freaked out like that.
- 1:29:07I mean, he really did. I was like, and I was like,
- 1:29:13yeah, man, it it. Was really cool and I'm I'm.
- 1:29:15Happy to see. Him with all his success and all
- 1:29:18the things that he's done and the Olympics and so many other
- 1:29:21things and it it's just when you see that type of push and that
- 1:29:27type of reach within the masses, not just in California,
- 1:29:32globally, he's a he, he's an influencer.
- 1:29:36And so you know, what do you expect?
- 1:29:38So that's how the big, the big offers come in.
- 1:29:41That's how a lot of stuff happens.
- 1:29:43So I'm looking at between working with Bill and for Ron
- 1:29:47and you, Dre and, and Mr. Womack.
- 1:29:50I mean, I, I want to be able to use what I have as an act as a,
- 1:29:57you know, as an access to the city of Los Angeles, the
- 1:30:01education, the youth, not only just here, but across the
- 1:30:04country. And I mean, we've got everything
- 1:30:08from technology. I'm part of a group called
- 1:30:11Matrix Capital. And Matrix Capital is a great
- 1:30:15group of leaders. I mean, we've got generals that
- 1:30:19are part of Matrix Capital. We have the president of the
- 1:30:23West Point Society. I mean, we have so many
- 1:30:27different people who have built industries in communities.
- 1:30:31There are grant writers that are part of Matrix Capital who've
- 1:30:35closed $1,000,000 deals and they're doing, they're doing a
- 1:30:38big development in Las Vegas now they're down in north, you know,
- 1:30:43North Las Vegas, like downtown and they're building a, a STEM
- 1:30:48center down there. These are the type of things
- 1:30:50that our community need and should know about.
- 1:30:54And you know, I'm happy to just to be a part of good things in
- 1:30:59in the community. Yeah, I found about now I know
- 1:31:02for a fact you work for LA Vets. What are you doing with LA Vets
- 1:31:05for them? Then we talked a couple of
- 1:31:06times. Yeah, LA vets, you know.
- 1:31:10They are, that's US Vets. US Vets, you know, that's a
- 1:31:14major, major veterans organization.
- 1:31:17They help veterans who have went through a tough transition.
- 1:31:21Some of them need a place and US Vets is directly connect to the
- 1:31:25VA so they make sure that they get housing and health and
- 1:31:30mental health services. And so that's what I'm wanting
- 1:31:35to do. I'm I'm in the process of
- 1:31:37starting the Rippy Foundation. I'm going to work with at risk
- 1:31:40youth, senior citizens and veterans.
- 1:31:42There shouldn't be one homeless veteran anywhere on any St. in
- 1:31:46America. Thank you.
- 1:31:48Let alone let alone Los Angeles. That's right.
- 1:31:53And they have given their all, believe it or not.
- 1:31:56I actually knew a veteran and it was sad because he was trying to
- 1:32:01get VA services and the line and the the the medical care was
- 1:32:05kind of sketchy. And he actually died waiting on
- 1:32:10services. And I'm hoping that, you know,
- 1:32:12that these. Yeah.
- 1:32:14So you, you know. We right and these.
- 1:32:18Are the type of things that should not happen so hopefully
- 1:32:22you know better times will come for our veterans and better
- 1:32:26opportunities repurposing them getting them trained you know
- 1:32:31and and they should be the first in line for a home you know with
- 1:32:36all the available real estate. Our veterans should be better,
- 1:32:39you know, better taken care of. OK, I always say that the.
- 1:32:44In my experience. Even I didn't go to the VA until
- 1:32:48seven years after I got a military just just because of
- 1:32:51the myth. And then I finally said I'm
- 1:32:53going to and I'm going to either confirm or deny the myth.
- 1:32:57And I confirm the myth. Like I've made an appointment
- 1:33:02and I had to wait three months for it or four months.
- 1:33:05And then then they called and they cancelled.
- 1:33:09I made another one and on the day of my appointment I'm
- 1:33:13driving and I'm like 5 minutes away.
- 1:33:15They called and said oh, we have to cancel your appointment.
- 1:33:17No you're not. I'm coming right now.
- 1:33:19What's your name? I'll come.
- 1:33:22Here and talk to you then like. They get the well what happened?
- 1:33:25They called an emergency meeting last night, but I said well you
- 1:33:28got my number, why don't you call and tell me why?
- 1:33:29Why do you have to wait till 10:30 in the morning as I'm
- 1:33:31driving here to do that right? The reason I got to be in the
- 1:33:341st place just confirm or did not admit and it's not a myth.
- 1:33:37Y'all got I didn't use profane. I refrained.
- 1:33:41I didn't turn. Sorry.
- 1:33:42I made it from I said this is about me in terms of my
- 1:33:50appointment. I said the way you guys treat
- 1:33:54people, it ain't it ain't going to affect me right now, but you
- 1:33:58know it's going to affect that person.
- 1:34:00That's 7075, whatever the age are, they don't have they don't
- 1:34:05have the vigor to put up with this to fight you.
- 1:34:08So they'll just going to go home and die, Uncle 74?
- 1:34:14And that's going to be on you, but you're not going to know
- 1:34:16because you your. Appointment, they didn't even
- 1:34:19get here after that. Hurry up, we got me in.
- 1:34:22That was my first. That was my intake that just do
- 1:34:24the blood work and all. That's all it was.
- 1:34:29Because they say. All the doctors are in the
- 1:34:31meeting upstairs would take me up there.
- 1:34:33This is a great time to tell them what the heck they're
- 1:34:35doing. We're going to change the focus
- 1:34:37of the meeting right now. Right now, we lost Bill.
- 1:34:41Bill, how to pick? Someone.
- 1:34:46Has to fight for him you got. Someone has to fight for him.
- 1:34:49Yeah, that's right. I want to piggyback what Rodney
- 1:34:52was saying about your US, Vance. Bill, I know you and Rodney work
- 1:34:55simultaneously on a lot of things, so tell me about who you
- 1:34:57are. Mr. Bill.
- 1:34:59Yeah, so I'm CSI. Bill stands for Common Sense.
- 1:35:02Intelligence at the high school students gave me that nickname
- 1:35:05because I've come from military family.
- 1:35:09My dad was in Marines for 22 years and and he's always
- 1:35:12besides spank that butt. He was a use your common sense
- 1:35:14boy. So I grew up saying use your
- 1:35:18common. Sense use your common.
- 1:35:19Sense and I did I started teaching in high schools and I
- 1:35:24said the same thing and the kids got to get said Mr. Montgomery,
- 1:35:26you always tell my common sense we're going to make a nickname
- 1:35:30CSI Bill. And I was like, OK, so I've been
- 1:35:33that since eight years ago. How's how's you meet Rodney?
- 1:35:37Oh man, I met I. Met Ronnie.
- 1:35:39I meant what? I mean, Rodney at man.
- 1:35:41It's been jack-in-the-box, jack-in-the-box.
- 1:35:45Like all of us, what you talking about are.
- 1:35:47You going to go back to 1972? I was two years old.
- 1:35:53Yeah, there you go. From a guy named Al Ramirez.
- 1:35:56Radio. Guy and he talked about Rodney's
- 1:36:01man you got, you know, you got to meet this guy and and I met
- 1:36:05Rodney and ever since we connected up we got some the
- 1:36:08same views and yeah man we we we started connecting up and then I
- 1:36:13think for Ron came maybe a little bit later same thing man.
- 1:36:17So I met for Ron, you know, quickly for Ron went to the
- 1:36:21schools man and and just dynamic man.
- 1:36:23So, you know, we're we're on the same page.
- 1:36:26Of course, I was 18 years old. I was jumping.
- 1:36:28On the airplanes. So I went into the 82nd Airborne
- 1:36:32down in North Carolina, had a had a great time in and, and
- 1:36:37actually I was going to do, I was going to do 20 years.
- 1:36:40But it it. It started getting soft, you
- 1:36:43know, even back then. So I was like, man, I, they,
- 1:36:44they, I got to get out of here, man.
- 1:36:46Yeah, even back then. So now it's really, really soft.
- 1:36:50Oh my God, they can't recruit. Every recruiting levels are
- 1:36:52lowest ever. We can't see your face, Bill.
- 1:36:54We need to see your face. Roku TV.
- 1:37:18I'm glad you guys said. It obviously you can see the
- 1:37:20NASA shirt because. There you go with with NASA.
- 1:37:24And. Yeah, man, I'm just.
- 1:37:26I'm happy to be able to give the information on this platform and
- 1:37:30thank you guys so much because media exposure that that's
- 1:37:35everything these days. So thank you guys for having me
- 1:37:38on and I'm I'm just going to kick it back to you guys, man.
- 1:37:39I'm just happy to be here. I got.
- 1:37:42I got a question also if. You if you want to know.
- 1:37:45If you want to know more about Bill, just go to Hidden Pioneers
- 1:37:49dot com. That's hidden, HIDDEN
- 1:37:53pioneers.com. We're really excited because
- 1:37:55Bill is connected to some great people.
- 1:37:58There's a lady named Emmeline King.
- 1:38:01Emmeline, She is the first African American female hired by
- 1:38:05the Ford Motor Company in the design division.
- 1:38:08So she was recently at a big event that we had out here.
- 1:38:12The lady plays a mean saxophone. She's an artist and she's got a
- 1:38:16big heart. She cares about the kids and
- 1:38:19Bill every, what is it? Every Monday night, Bill has a,
- 1:38:24a, a stream that he does. And we go live and we just kind
- 1:38:28of work together with people who come in to talk about solutions.
- 1:38:33Not just talk, but we're looking for solutions for the community
- 1:38:37through STEM education and STEAM that science, technology,
- 1:38:42engineering, the arts and math. And Bill is kind of bringing
- 1:38:46back, you know, the shop classes and the lab classes for the
- 1:38:50young people. And that's what that's what the
- 1:38:52Hidden Pioneer is all about. And that's my measure, too.
- 1:38:54I'm running for city councilors and bring it back me and.
- 1:38:56Riley talking about that karate's my campaign manager and
- 1:38:59that's what's going to happen to the point that we know for a
- 1:39:02fact it's evolutionizing with these kids are to come and tech
- 1:39:06everything we had all in high school when they took it all out
- 1:39:09and the pledge allegiance. Well, what happened to your
- 1:39:11school? They turned to prisons.
- 1:39:12Their minds have got slaves in their mind.
- 1:39:15That's what the kids are all messed up at.
- 1:39:17So NASA is like they well, they're doing ads now They're
- 1:39:20doing the CIA doing ads. They ain't never did the CIA
- 1:39:22done never did we want you in the CIA.
- 1:39:24I'm like, what? At midnight you get an ad for
- 1:39:27CIA. To apply for a.
- 1:39:28Job that NASA too, now the astronauts that was stuck in
- 1:39:32space for 11,000 years when they came down, they said.
- 1:39:38They was paying them. What $5 a day?
- 1:39:40Did you see that? Is that true?
- 1:39:43They get they overtime they got that's a trillion dollars in
- 1:39:46space. That's a trillion dollars,
- 1:39:48though. OK.
- 1:39:48I got you. There you go.
- 1:39:51And and and. President Trump said well.
- 1:39:52I paid overtime. What is it?
- 1:39:53What? It's $14.53 so of course you're
- 1:39:56going to pay overtime and $14.00 but you stay in space nine
- 1:39:58months with your family, all you got is $11.00 overtime.
- 1:40:02They didn't want to pay it nothing.
- 1:40:05That's crazy man. So your.
- 1:40:07Bill not. Not so.
- 1:40:09Is that how? How do they get paid?
- 1:40:12Well, they astronauts, they go up.
- 1:40:14Well, you know, it's almost like, like, like the military,
- 1:40:17you know, you're. You're, you're on a contract and
- 1:40:18you, you know, you sign up and you know, you make $0.65 an hour
- 1:40:22man for 24 hours man. OK, there you.
- 1:40:24Go. That's good money, man.
- 1:40:25That's good money. Yeah, yeah, so, so yeah, the.
- 1:40:28Number Jack back in them days 60. $0.05 Yeah, I got back in
- 1:40:31them day. Yeah, how do you pay?
- 1:40:35And how do they? Go by the overtime.
- 1:40:36How do they come up with $11.53 overtime?
- 1:40:40Well, I don't know, man. Whatever.
- 1:40:42Whatever that. Like I said, whatever the
- 1:40:45they're part of the military. So whatever that track is, you
- 1:40:49know, you know, it's like private, you know, first class,
- 1:40:52you know, and you get a little bit more.
- 1:40:55Yeah, I think. I think astronauts get a, you
- 1:40:57know, a little bit more because of the hazard pay, but it's,
- 1:41:00it's not. You would think there'd be a
- 1:41:02lot, but Nope, it's. Yeah, well, I won't be fine with
- 1:41:05space no time soon, but you try. To think $3,000,000 to go up to
- 1:41:08the upper part and then come back on you try $3,000,000 to go
- 1:41:13up to the upper part. Of space to come back on.
- 1:41:15That's crazy. Hey, Bill.
- 1:41:17Bill, how much was? How much was jump pay?
- 1:41:21Well, jump pay was was was $83 a month when?
- 1:41:24I was there 82 I don't know what it.
- 1:41:29It might be. 100 What? Year was that?
- 1:41:31What year was that? This was a. 888383 to 80. 6 Did
- 1:41:38they give you a tip? If you turn your ankle it.
- 1:41:41Was 50. $5 Sorry sorry man, you said he was getting 55.
- 1:41:44Dollars back in in. His.
- 1:41:46Days 77 Who $5 Hey. I'm I'm trying I'm trying to get
- 1:41:51service. Connected now as we speak.
- 1:41:53Oh my God. My my ankle.
- 1:41:56He. Turned his ankle.
- 1:41:57I'm messing up, boy, I tell you. But but yeah, there's there's
- 1:42:00so. Much information offline, Bill,
- 1:42:02we'll talk, we'll talk about that offline.
- 1:42:03OK, OK, that'd. Be great.
- 1:42:05Oh yeah, yeah, definitely. There you go, but.
- 1:42:08It's an honor, man to see, you know, these these these
- 1:42:10stingiest gentleman here today and people understand behind all
- 1:42:14this experience and this knowledge and this God-given
- 1:42:17talent. You know, it's here to help
- 1:42:19society what society is all about.
- 1:42:20It's about our kids and what are we going to do gentlemen, about
- 1:42:23these kids generation? Is it talking to the parents?
- 1:42:26Is it what do you think is it the parents talk first we to the
- 1:42:30reconciliation Malachi 4-5 and. 6 says that we can return the
- 1:42:34hearts of our parents back to our children, the hearts of our
- 1:42:36parents back to the children, back to their parents.
- 1:42:39So hey man, it's the direction. We can get our children.
- 1:42:44To, to, to, to develop and go home and share what they learn
- 1:42:48from an emotional, from mental toughness standpoint that
- 1:42:50parents going to come to the school and be like, what are you
- 1:42:52teaching my child? Because now they're talking.
- 1:42:54Different they ain't. Talking like they used to.
- 1:42:57Now we draw that or we have the parent come in and have a
- 1:43:00conversation one way or another. That's where it starts for me.
- 1:43:03It starts at that family dynamic.
- 1:43:06And then we can restore that heart of that child back to that
- 1:43:09parent. And I and I truly honor my
- 1:43:12father and mother. I'm not going to want to hurt
- 1:43:14you. I'm not going to because my, I'm
- 1:43:18going to think about what my mom and dad's going to say if I
- 1:43:20steal that candy. What if I steal that?
- 1:43:22What is my mom and dad going to say first?
- 1:43:25I'm not going to do that. But why do we have to wait till
- 1:43:27we get in jail or get in our 40s and 50s to discover that that's
- 1:43:31what life should have been about, you know, 40 years ago.
- 1:43:35We can make those collections today.
- 1:43:38Those that are willing, everybody ain't willing to do
- 1:43:40that. Those that are.
- 1:43:41Willing to look at that conversation like a famous
- 1:43:45Eddie. The.
- 1:43:46Famous, Eddie Griffin said. We my black folk were so fast.
- 1:43:50We had to. We had to beat that street light
- 1:43:51out. Hey, let me tell you, it's just,
- 1:43:57it's just. Passing.
- 1:43:58Be in the house. You're going in the house.
- 1:44:00Yeah, you go to the house. So brother running a. 193 So you
- 1:44:05know what a free life you know now they blink.
- 1:44:07As soon as they blinked, it was a wrap.
- 1:44:10Drop the bat, drop the football. Nowadays. 11 years old out
- 1:44:16there. Until 11:00 on school nights,
- 1:44:20running around shooting the gun. No, man, I have.
- 1:44:23I have one. 5th grader when I was when I started last year and
- 1:44:27we were talking about what is it to be respectful of my, of my
- 1:44:31family. And he said, oh, I know my, my
- 1:44:35mom stutters when she's lying and I'm like, what?
- 1:44:40Like he. Already got his?
- 1:44:41Mother figured out that when she stutters, she's lying.
- 1:44:46Now what happened? He caught what happened where he
- 1:44:49discovered that that stutter was connected to something she said
- 1:44:53that was not true. Now that's how he listened to
- 1:44:56his mother. When she stutters, she's lying.
- 1:44:59And he's 50. He was a 50 year.
- 1:45:02I'm going to tell you what. I, I was brought up in a little
- 1:45:05bit of different way. My Mama could tell me anything
- 1:45:08and I believed it. I'm going to tell you.
- 1:45:12Thank you. I, I had, I had the type of
- 1:45:14parents that whatever mom or daddy said, I believe it.
- 1:45:18I and there was no questioning if you couldn't ask why, I mean,
- 1:45:22because that, that that would entail the Hickory stick that if
- 1:45:26you started asking why that would the Hickory stick would
- 1:45:30come out and I, I didn't need the Hickory stick.
- 1:45:33So well. Well, let me tell you guys
- 1:45:35something in in high. School I.
- 1:45:37I've done the. R&D OK.
- 1:45:38The the couple things they say, first of all, like you said,
- 1:45:40soon you say something. Why?
- 1:45:42What? OK.
- 1:45:43And then they they say when they get in trouble, so they say
- 1:45:47nobody told me. Nobody told me.
- 1:45:50So those, those, those are the things that that the kids say
- 1:45:53now why? What?
- 1:45:54And nobody told me. Yeah.
- 1:45:57Wow. And Bill.
- 1:45:58Bill. Also has a great thing.
- 1:46:00And it's, it's called the, your, your the cell phone curriculum
- 1:46:05that Bill has it's, it's the pocket computer.
- 1:46:09And Bill is, you know, also has a curriculum that's teaching the
- 1:46:12young people how to, you know, confidently use a cell phone and
- 1:46:17not to abuse it and not to get addicted to it.
- 1:46:20Because so many kids, you know, parents say, hey, you know, you
- 1:46:24used to be able to put a kid on restriction.
- 1:46:26All you got to do is take the cell phone.
- 1:46:27They'll freak out. So, you know, the whole thing
- 1:46:31is. But now we know that there's a
- 1:46:33lot of very good uses of the cell phone and all of the access
- 1:46:38and, and everything. But there's a lot of, there's a
- 1:46:42lot of bad. Yeah, it's too much.
- 1:46:45It's overkill. And if your and if your child is
- 1:46:48not properly using the the phone and the tablet and the computer
- 1:46:52in a wise way, because they really can get into some deep,
- 1:46:56deep trouble. Rodney, get a campaign manager.
- 1:47:00For so I want to make sure. We we, we get that in that
- 1:47:03pocket. Computer curriculum has to get.
- 1:47:06Into. It's got to get into our.
- 1:47:08Schools it's man let. Me tell you what T they don't
- 1:47:11want none of me you. Got 6 foot 4300 plus that's
- 1:47:14running the City Council. I, I, I'm not running.
- 1:47:16So you can, you can make a threat.
- 1:47:18Daddy can make threats. I mean, I'm highly trained.
- 1:47:20So I would would approach my my podium.
- 1:47:24Please approach it. And say what you're going to
- 1:47:26say. I want people to know that it's
- 1:47:29your fault as a parent, your fellow, as a parent, because by
- 1:47:31your kids out there at 17 St. doing drive by mini bikes up and
- 1:47:35down the street at night time go karts and and we allow the
- 1:47:39police allow them to drive around the streets like that.
- 1:47:41Now it's like I got a question. I got a question because I I.
- 1:47:45Just happened to be in Hollywood the other night and and I was
- 1:47:51Mandy still came down the street.
- 1:47:53Stunting on dirt. Bikes.
- 1:47:54No. Yeah.
- 1:47:55Lights. No Hell.
- 1:47:58Yeah, and the. Police was on the other.
- 1:47:59Side of the street. And I was like.
- 1:48:01I remember back in the day, if you had a mini bite, it was
- 1:48:04over. They confiscated your mini bite.
- 1:48:08Done you done you, done you walking home.
- 1:48:10Done, I mean. No, if they stopped.
- 1:48:12You if they stopped you, your bike got confiscated.
- 1:48:16Your parents had to get involved.
- 1:48:18It was a ticket. And now, I mean, the police were
- 1:48:21just sitting there on Sunset and these dudes came down, came down
- 1:48:25Hollywood Blvd. study and it had thirty of them.
- 1:48:29That was for Yeah on 3rd. That was for Instagram.
- 1:48:32That was for Instagram, man. That's Instagram.
- 1:48:34Tick tock money. Tick tock money.
- 1:48:35Wow. I'm going to stop there with the
- 1:48:37street takeovers. That's my main.
- 1:48:38One of my initiatives, if your parents got a kid under 18
- 1:48:41driving that and tree takeovers we snatch in your car, we're
- 1:48:44going to dissemble it and the parents are going to pay to get
- 1:48:46it out. So you're going to get pizza of
- 1:48:47it out. You didn't get the whole car.
- 1:48:49You're and you want the two you want the you want the steering
- 1:48:52wheel, both tires. Here you go.
- 1:48:55All right, gentlemen, we got to get out of here.
- 1:48:59It's our major man. I, I thank you for hanging out
- 1:49:02with us, man. Thank you for your information,
- 1:49:04for your book, for your knowledge.
- 1:49:07And, and as you can see, we are, we're all on the same page with
- 1:49:09you. So we look forward to having
- 1:49:11some more discussions and figuring out how to implement
- 1:49:14these conversations are missing. They're missing in our
- 1:49:17community, in our school. So that's what we're up to.
- 1:49:21You write a book, man called Why?
- 1:49:23Why bully? Me.
- 1:49:24But Drake, it hurt you. What do you call the book?
- 1:49:26You scared of kid? Bring back.
- 1:49:28Scare straight. Bring it back.
- 1:49:30Bring it back. That's right.
- 1:49:33I told Doctor Bond yes on Monday.
- 1:49:36Like, man, we need to have a boot camp, I'd say, because man,
- 1:49:39LA, you know, LAUSD is so protective.
- 1:49:41You can't really say nothing because the child could be like,
- 1:49:44oh, he said something to me or he he in jail be in trouble.
- 1:49:47But I'm like bro, like. I can, you can.
- 1:49:49Only say so much. Yeah, right.
- 1:49:52You need to have a boot camp. So so we could do some front.
- 1:49:55Leaning rest or something everything but they messed up
- 1:49:57like you corrective they don't get in shape at the same.
- 1:50:01Time or something, but there's this.
- 1:50:03They're so protected, not in the wrong way, but you really can't
- 1:50:06even say much to them without right trying to get it.
- 1:50:10You might be in trouble for saying something, but you can't
- 1:50:12do that. You can't say that and listen at
- 1:50:14Washington Prep High School. They had two ROTC instructors,
- 1:50:19one was there for a long time and he had his uniforms like
- 1:50:23that in the in the front lobby, blah, blah.
- 1:50:26Man. He, he, he said something to kid
- 1:50:28kids and he said something. They they, they got rid of them,
- 1:50:31man. Yeah, the kids are the winners.
- 1:50:33The kids. Are the winners.
- 1:50:35So definitely, but all you all to Mr. Woman, what we're going
