- 0:16Speaker 1: Them in to jag XAM.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I'm kind of Hona Stevens, Brian Sexton, John Osier with
- 0:19Speaker 2: us today. It's week eighteen. We've made it to the
- 0:22Speaker 2: end of the regular season. Let's talk about our big
- 0:24Speaker 2: things today, brought to you by GEH Government Employees Health Association.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Big Thing Number one is one more time. They've got
- 0:30Speaker 2: one more regular season game and it's against the Titans.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It's always fun to beat the Titans, Brian, and we're
- 0:35Speaker 2: hoping there'll be more games at the bank, but we
- 0:36Speaker 2: don't know that just yet. But this will be the
- 0:38Speaker 2: final regular season matchup.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Well, listen, beat the Titans and you will get one
- 0:42Speaker 3: because they'll win the AFC South and as the division winner,
- 0:45Speaker 3: you're guaranteed a home playoff game. So make that the story.
- 0:48Speaker 4: You know.
- 0:49Speaker 3: KAI In the Jaguars history of the AFC South, which
- 0:52Speaker 3: goes back to the two thousand and two season when
- 0:54Speaker 3: the NFL realigned, the Jaguars have not fared very well.
- 0:56Speaker 3: They have three seasons with four wins and they've only
- 0:59Speaker 3: won the division title twice. This would be an opportunity
- 1:02Speaker 3: to win five games for the first time to grab
- 1:04Speaker 3: the division title once again, but they're still behind in
- 1:07Speaker 3: the standings against all three teams, against the Colts, against
- 1:10Speaker 3: the Titans, and against the Texans, they have a losing record.
- 1:14Speaker 3: So for pride's sake, besides the division, go win at home.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Slam the door on these guys well, and it's.
- 1:20Speaker 5: A chance to to, you know, sort of stamp this
- 1:23Speaker 5: regular season as certainly the best since they've been in
- 1:27Speaker 5: the AFC South. They've won it twice, but they won
- 1:30Speaker 5: it with a ten and six record in twenty seventeen
- 1:33Speaker 5: and nine and eight record. Remember in seventeen, the Titans
- 1:36Speaker 5: were still sort of beating their chest. Oh we beat
- 1:38Speaker 5: the Jaguars twice. You win it with a thirteen and
- 1:41Speaker 5: four record. It's certainly the best season they've had since
- 1:46Speaker 5: realignment and O two.
- 1:48Speaker 4: So it's big in that sense.
- 1:50Speaker 5: But look, it's a second game and it's a division opponent,
- 1:54Speaker 5: just like last week. To talk like it's already won
- 1:57Speaker 5: is incorrect.
- 1:58Speaker 4: They got to go win it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Second.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Big thing, which is possibilities we're talking about. The Jaguars
- 2:02Speaker 2: obviously control their own destiny, but there's still some movement
- 2:05Speaker 2: that can go along.
- 2:06Speaker 1: In the AFC.
- 2:07Speaker 2: We don't know what the playoffs are exactly, gonna look like.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But John, this is what we've been talking about, wanting
- 2:12Speaker 2: to be in a position where the Jaguars can just
- 2:14Speaker 2: focus on themselves and not worry as much about other teams.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 5: I kind of looked today when I was looking for
- 2:22Speaker 5: a story that I was working on. They've only been
- 2:25Speaker 5: off the graphic for one week this year. I mean,
- 2:27Speaker 5: they've always been in that top seven, So that's what
- 2:31Speaker 5: you want to be. But you really want to be
- 2:33Speaker 5: there at the end if they can get fortunate and
- 2:37Speaker 5: have either the Broncos or Patriots to lose, which doesn't
- 2:39Speaker 5: look that likely, but weird things happen in week eighteen.
- 2:43Speaker 5: So go win in the afternoon and go watch in
- 2:48Speaker 5: the late afternoon, and maybe you.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Get a break and get to number two.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I was hoping last week that the
- 2:53Speaker 3: Chargers would give them a hand and beat the Texans,
- 2:55Speaker 3: and then I saw that Justin Herbert's not going to play.
- 2:57Speaker 3: So listen, get the whole playoff game. See what you
- 3:00Speaker 3: can do with that one. And I mean, the Chargers
- 3:03Speaker 3: are a team that haven't played very well against this
- 3:05Speaker 3: football team the last three times out. The Bills, obviously,
- 3:08Speaker 3: Josh Allen is a superhero in football terms. But their
- 3:12Speaker 3: defense isn't playing very well. He looks like maybe he's
- 3:15Speaker 3: limping around a little bit. I think the biggest part
- 3:17Speaker 3: of this whole thing, John, is that when you look
- 3:19Speaker 3: at the AFC as a whole, Jaguars can beat anyone.
- 3:23Speaker 3: There isn't a power team. There's not Kansas City, there's
- 3:26Speaker 3: not New England of years past. There's opportunity for this team.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Just get into the tournament and the Jaguars are there
- 3:32Speaker 3: and Sunday they could really cement it with a home win.
- 3:36Speaker 4: And that note.
- 3:37Speaker 5: I tend to take the approach of if you're want
- 3:39Speaker 5: to win the Super Bowl, you're gonna have to beat
- 3:42Speaker 5: three or four good teams to do it.
- 3:45Speaker 4: If you beat Buffalo in the.
- 3:47Speaker 5: First round and not in the commerce championship game, if
- 3:50Speaker 5: you're good enough to win it, who cares who you play?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Absolutely a lot of good stuff ahead or final big
- 3:56Speaker 2: thing today going to be stay the course. We're talking
- 3:57Speaker 2: about not looking too far ahead. Of course, you have
- 4:00Speaker 2: to win this game against the Titans first, but that's
- 4:03Speaker 2: easier said than done at times, Brian, I know the
- 4:05Speaker 2: coaching staff is going to preach that as much as
- 4:07Speaker 2: physically possible. But how do you kind of keep focus
- 4:10Speaker 2: this week and not let yourself get ahead and start
- 4:12Speaker 2: looking at playoffs.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Well it's tough.
- 4:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 4:14Speaker 3: We talked about last week that they were coming off
- 4:16Speaker 3: the big win over the Broncos and had Christmas Eve
- 4:18Speaker 3: and Christmas Day. Well this week you have to win
- 4:20Speaker 3: over the Colts and you have New Year's Eve and
- 4:22Speaker 3: New Year's Day. Though they're not big and family Center
- 4:25Speaker 3: john right as Christmas are, it's a challenge and that's
- 4:29Speaker 3: why I think that last week's outcome, the way that
- 4:32Speaker 3: they won, turns out as a net positive for them
- 4:35Speaker 3: because they've won the last three games, holding a fourteen
- 4:38Speaker 3: point advantage throughout the entire fourth quarter against the Colts, Jets,
- 4:41Speaker 3: and Broncos. So this reminds them, oh, we can be beaten,
- 4:45Speaker 3: and it's I think it's a pretty focused team. I
- 4:48Speaker 3: think that the head coach has done an amazing job
- 4:51Speaker 3: this year of not looking ahead himself and not allowing
- 4:55Speaker 3: his team to follow that example. They have been very focused.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Yeah, at home really helps.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Look, it wasn't the same coaching staff, but if the
- 5:05Speaker 5: coaches want to give the Jaguars an example of what
- 5:09Speaker 5: can happen, just looked to two years ago. I mean
- 5:13Speaker 5: they went up with a chance. Now that team was
- 5:15Speaker 5: in decline, the nine and eight team in twenty twenty three,
- 5:19Speaker 5: but you still went up to Tennessee with a chance
- 5:21Speaker 5: to win it against the Tennessee team that was out
- 5:22Speaker 5: of it and they beat you. So if any players
- 5:25Speaker 5: don't know what can happen, all Josh Heines Allen and
- 5:28Speaker 5: Travis Dtn and Trevor Lawrence have to say, Hey, this
- 5:30Speaker 5: was you know, this isn't that different from that.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I think this is a different dynamic.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I don't feel that that is the same you know
- 5:38Speaker 5: scenario going in, But doesn't matter if it's same, they
- 5:42Speaker 5: can use that Litten.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Just one more example. How about Trevor Lawrence going around
- 5:46Speaker 3: the locker room the season finale in twenty twenty one
- 5:48Speaker 3: against the Colts. He was a rookie quarterback with an
- 5:50Speaker 3: interim coach and the Colts came here. All they had
- 5:52Speaker 3: to do was win, and they had locked up a
- 5:54Speaker 3: playoff spot, and yet they didn't. Trevor went around the
- 5:57Speaker 3: locker room and got everybody motivated to play. That was
- 6:00Speaker 3: that we were told, and they played well and they
- 6:02Speaker 3: beat them, And so he can go and remind them
- 6:03Speaker 3: that's a rookie quarterback with an interim head coach. They
- 6:06Speaker 3: have nothing to play for except pride. Let's play with more.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Absolutely, stay with us here on jagzam. We're and do
- 6:11Speaker 2: a little this or that when we come back after the.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Weak gigs am brought to you by Field Auto Group.
- 6:24Speaker 6: See Fields First Jackson's premiere Luxury Auto Group. Head over
- 6:26Speaker 6: to Fields Auto dot com.
- 6:29Speaker 4: This schools this school.
- 6:35Speaker 2: For a little this or that. On jagxam we were
- 6:38Speaker 2: talking about the team not looking ahead. We can look
- 6:40Speaker 2: ahead a little bit though, because that's what we do.
- 6:41Speaker 2: But let's start first with this game against the Titans. Obviously,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you have to win the game to win the division,
- 6:46Speaker 2: so that will be the main focus of this one.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But as we know, the Titans have not had a
- 6:51Speaker 2: great season, have been playing better as of late, so
- 6:53Speaker 2: I don't want to get too ahead of myself there.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But how do you look at the starters in this game?
- 6:57Speaker 2: Obviously they're going to play. You want to win the game,
- 6:59Speaker 2: but if you get a big lead, do you kind
- 7:00Speaker 2: of air on taking them out early? Also, if anybody's injured,
- 7:03Speaker 2: do you air on giving them an extra week?
- 7:05Speaker 1: Of rest.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Well, I think that this team has done a good
- 7:08Speaker 3: job John all season long of managing guys and being
- 7:10Speaker 3: willing to go in with replacements on the offensive line
- 7:14Speaker 3: or in the secondary. They've never forced someone Eric Murray
- 7:17Speaker 3: and Jordan Lewis to be two examples, they gave them
- 7:19Speaker 3: plenty of time, So I think that would be their approach.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I would say this as well. Recent history would suggest
- 7:25Speaker 3: that when the Jaguars have got a big lead against
- 7:27Speaker 3: the Colts, Jets and Broncos, they were willing to put
- 7:31Speaker 3: guys in and get their starters out. I would just
- 7:33Speaker 3: assume that would be their philosophy here, second half, Let's
- 7:36Speaker 3: give these guys a little more time and make sure
- 7:38Speaker 3: we don't take a cheap hit somewhere.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think you play it any different, And
- 7:43Speaker 5: once you've played it all season, I'm not sure you
- 7:47Speaker 5: even let a hint of that enter the building. Because
- 7:52Speaker 5: the foot's been on the gas and this is a
- 7:56Speaker 5: dangerous team, it seems, has Jeffrey Simmons on it. Cam
- 7:59Speaker 5: Wood has been playing better. Uh you know, even up
- 8:03Speaker 5: there two or three weeks ago. If you remember it
- 8:07Speaker 5: was when Devon Hamilton was snapping, it was a six
- 8:10Speaker 5: point game. At halftime, you think if they get one score,
- 8:13Speaker 5: you're back in it. So I don't think they'll take
- 8:15Speaker 5: any thing any differently than that. But in the fourth quarter,
- 8:19Speaker 5: if they have a lead, they'll do the same thing
- 8:21Speaker 5: they've been doing.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Hopefully we see that sooner earlier in the game than
- 8:24Speaker 2: we are used to. That would be nice. Let's also
- 8:26Speaker 2: look a little bit of had we have a lot
- 8:28Speaker 2: of playoff possibilities, but things are a little more assorted now.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So it looks like the Jaguars will either be playing
- 8:35Speaker 2: the Bills or the Texans, depending on if they win
- 8:37Speaker 2: this game.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Is there a preference? Do we care or do we
- 8:41Speaker 1: just feel.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Like the Charger's not in the mix I had seen there.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I think we'll talk a little bit about So they're
- 8:45Speaker 2: gonna sit justin Herbert, so I think with the loss,
- 8:47Speaker 2: it kind of takes them out of the mix a
- 8:49Speaker 2: little bit from what I've seen. Obviously, there's a million
- 8:51Speaker 2: that would be the ultimate possibility.
- 8:54Speaker 3: So Johnson, you're gonna win it. You're gonna have to
- 8:56Speaker 3: beat everybody, so you know, bring them on. You know
- 8:59Speaker 3: that the Texans gurry, Well, you understand their system. You
- 9:02Speaker 3: just played them and then there's a real ax to
- 9:04Speaker 3: grind with that one. You tell you what, if you
- 9:08Speaker 3: play the Bills here we saw in twenty seventeen, they'll
- 9:10Speaker 3: fill your building. They will challenge your fans to buy
- 9:13Speaker 3: all the tickets because they will come and they will
- 9:15Speaker 3: fill up your building. So I think you have an
- 9:18Speaker 3: electric atmosphere if you've got the Bills here.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it seems that out of all the other.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Teams, these two teams, the Bills and the Texans, both
- 9:30Speaker 5: have that war that I hate a superpower, right, Like,
- 9:33Speaker 5: the other teams are good, but you're really hard pressed
- 9:36Speaker 5: to say, Okay, why are they great. With the Bills,
- 9:38Speaker 5: you know they're great because of Josh Allen. With the Texans,
- 9:40Speaker 5: you know they're great because of their defense. So that
- 9:42Speaker 5: kind of a matchup can be really dangerous in the postseason.
- 9:46Speaker 5: I don't know if I have a preference, because I
- 9:48Speaker 5: know that if the Jaguars are leading by ten points
- 9:51Speaker 5: in the fourth quarter against the Bills, I'm not writing
- 9:53Speaker 5: my story yet because that team's really dangerous. But the
- 9:56Speaker 5: Texans defense is flight out scary. I guess I'd like
- 10:00Speaker 5: to see the Texans because it would be a fun matchup,
- 10:03Speaker 5: But I think they're both coin flips.
- 10:06Speaker 4: I will offer this too.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Listen, the Jaguars are doing they're not maybe great in
- 10:11Speaker 3: one area or the other. Like the Texans defense is great, right,
- 10:15Speaker 3: but the Texans offense is really struggling and the Bills
- 10:17Speaker 3: defense is really struggling. So I don't think it really
- 10:19Speaker 3: matters because I think the way that the Jaguars are
- 10:21Speaker 3: playing right now is they're playing consistent football. The quarterback's
- 10:24Speaker 3: playing at a high level, the offense has obviously been
- 10:26Speaker 3: really really good for the last six or seven weeks,
- 10:29Speaker 3: and I think that the Jaguars can.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Handle other one.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I think they'll they'll be able to deal with whoever
- 10:35Speaker 2: comes their way. I think it's always tough when it's
- 10:36Speaker 2: someone in your division because you've already played them twice.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And I feel like that's what's always tricky about some
- 10:40Speaker 2: stuff like that. So we'll have to see. We'll look
- 10:43Speaker 2: a little bit into it tomorrow as to what exactly
- 10:45Speaker 2: the matchups are going to look like in percentages and stuff,
- 10:47Speaker 2: because there's still a lot of stuff that can go on.
- 10:49Speaker 2: But stay with us on jag Zam because coming up
- 10:51Speaker 2: after the break, we'll talk a little bit about what's
- 10:52Speaker 2: going on elsewhere around.
- 10:54Speaker 1: In the NFL.
- 11:05Speaker 2: For twelve years, dream Viders Homes have been proud to
- 11:07Speaker 2: call themselves the official homebuilder of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Does
- 11:09Speaker 2: a Dreamfinders dot Com for all of the available inventory
- 11:12Speaker 2: and Go Jags.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Welcome back into a Wednesday edition of Jagzam.
- 11:17Speaker 2: We're getting ready to have the final regular season game
- 11:20Speaker 2: of the year for the Jaguars before we head into
- 11:22Speaker 2: the playoffs. But we're going to talk a little bit
- 11:23Speaker 2: about what's going on elsewhere in football, because what's cool
- 11:26Speaker 2: about this year is that it feels like anybody can
- 11:29Speaker 2: win it any given night. And we saw that on
- 11:31Speaker 2: Monday Night football, the Falcons and the Rams.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I don't think anybody predicted that one.
- 11:35Speaker 3: No, and Jean Robinson put on a clinic. I mean,
- 11:38Speaker 3: we'd heard that this was a generational running back and
- 11:41Speaker 3: he had not been able to I mean, he'd proven
- 11:44Speaker 3: his speed in his size before, but not like last night,
- 11:47Speaker 3: and not like he had against the defense like that.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I mean, we saw that defense in London and how
- 11:53Speaker 3: brutal they are upfront with their front four, and yet
- 11:56Speaker 3: you just shredded him. He was outstanding.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Yeah, the Rams are dealing with some injuries, but uh yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 5: a generational is the right thing for this kid. It
- 12:05Speaker 5: does seem like every generation has a running back at LT.
- 12:11Speaker 5: You know Adrian and you know so he is in
- 12:13Speaker 5: that category as a guy who wore a gold jacket.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Was a thirty five or forty yard run after the
- 12:19Speaker 3: ninety three yard touchdown where he planted his foot he
- 12:21Speaker 3: ducked underneath the defender. Yeah, and then literally was tripped
- 12:24Speaker 3: up by his shoestrings. Otherwise he's got another sixty plus
- 12:26Speaker 3: yard touchdown.
- 12:27Speaker 2: He is.
- 12:28Speaker 3: He's the real deal.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Pretty fun to watch, especially against a team like the Rams,
- 12:32Speaker 2: who many consider a Super Bowl contender of valid Super Bowl.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Though they were the best team in the league exactly.
- 12:36Speaker 1: In any given week you could see it.
- 12:38Speaker 2: So let's talk a little bit about ramifications for AFC playoffs.
- 12:40Speaker 2: The Chargers have said they're gonna sit justin Herbert in
- 12:43Speaker 2: the final week against the Broncos. Obviously, if the Chargers
- 12:46Speaker 2: had won, that would have a lot more of a
- 12:48Speaker 2: mix up. This kind of I mean, we don't want
- 12:50Speaker 2: to give anybody anything, but gives the Broncos a pretty
- 12:52Speaker 2: good solid chance of keeping the one seed there.
- 12:54Speaker 1: So you like the move.
- 12:56Speaker 4: What would you do?
- 12:57Speaker 1: I mean, in your situation, you think that's a smart
- 12:58Speaker 1: move for them?
- 12:59Speaker 4: If I'm the charge, yeah, I mean.
- 13:03Speaker 5: It's always hard to know how beat up a team feels,
- 13:08Speaker 5: meaning you know, you see him from the outside. But
- 13:11Speaker 5: I can remember in nine when I covered the Colts
- 13:13Speaker 5: and they were undefeated at the end of the season,
- 13:15Speaker 5: going for it, but the sense inside the building was
- 13:19Speaker 5: we are a tired, beat up team. They rested their
- 13:22Speaker 5: starters and a four went and undefeated season. Very controversial,
- 13:27Speaker 5: but the reason they did it they wanted to be
- 13:29Speaker 5: fast and fresh in the playoffs, and they were so
- 13:32Speaker 5: I understand their thinking, Hey, we're only playing for seating
- 13:37Speaker 5: this week. We want to be really fast, really fresh.
- 13:40Speaker 5: We feel like we've grinded through the end of the season.
- 13:44Speaker 5: I get it, and I would probably in their situation,
- 13:47Speaker 5: make the same decision if you're not playing for a
- 13:50Speaker 5: home game, which I don't think they feel like they are.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Listen, you saw what the league's number one defense did
- 13:55Speaker 3: to the quarterback last week. I mean they hit him
- 13:57Speaker 3: over and over and over, and he's been playing with
- 13:59Speaker 3: broken bones in his left hand. Now you're gonna put
- 14:01Speaker 3: him up against a team that many people believe is
- 14:03Speaker 3: the second best defense. It certainly is in the AFC,
- 14:06Speaker 3: if not in the National Football League. You wanted to
- 14:09Speaker 3: get hit over and over and over and over again.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I think it makes sense. I mean, they're going to
- 14:13Speaker 3: be on the road in the playoffs. What difference does
- 14:15Speaker 3: it make where they go? It makes a bigger difference
- 14:17Speaker 3: to have Justin Herbert and that offensive line perhaps a
- 14:20Speaker 3: little healthier as they head into the matchup.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 5: I don't know exactly what they think they're winning formula is,
- 14:26Speaker 5: but I don't think it includes him not playing.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Yeah, No it doesn't.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the same probably the way.
- 14:31Speaker 4: It's good.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's a good insight there. We appreciate you.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah, let's talk a little bit about Unfortunately, the finalists
- 14:36Speaker 2: for the Pro Football Hall of Fame came out earlier
- 14:39Speaker 2: this week and Fred Taylor did not make it to
- 14:41Speaker 2: the finalist list. And obviously we're a little biased here
- 14:44Speaker 2: in Jacksonville, But John, what's this process kind of like
- 14:47Speaker 2: and what's this.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Been like for Fred? And kind of the years follow
- 14:50Speaker 1: us along a little bit more.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Well, He's this was his seventh year as a semi finals.
- 14:54Speaker 5: If I had a math, correct he'd been in finals
- 14:55Speaker 5: the last two years. The Hall can be a momentum
- 14:59Speaker 5: thing with voting because voters vote for a guy and
- 15:02Speaker 5: then they convinced a couple other voters to vote. It
- 15:04Speaker 5: sort of happened to Tony. It's changed a little bit
- 15:08Speaker 5: with the voting. It's harder and like last year's class
- 15:11Speaker 5: only had four guys in it. You know, I think
- 15:16Speaker 5: Fred is Hall worthy. This step back concerns me a
- 15:20Speaker 5: little bit because now you've got to convince voters to
- 15:24Speaker 5: come back around on him. Look, I think it's wrong.
- 15:29Speaker 5: I think he's absolutely a Hall of Fame running back.
- 15:31Speaker 5: I think he's better than running backs are in the Hall.
- 15:34Speaker 5: And this process is not always fair. I guess the
- 15:36Speaker 5: best way to say.
- 15:37Speaker 3: No, it's not I sat with Sam Kuvaris, who has
- 15:39Speaker 3: the Jaguars vote. Each team has one vote they give
- 15:42Speaker 3: to a media member. They gave it to Sam in
- 15:44Speaker 3: nineteen ninety five, and you know, he went through his
- 15:48Speaker 3: presentation and when the numbers all line up, this is
- 15:52Speaker 3: Fred Taylor. He's a Whole of Fame running back. And
- 15:54Speaker 3: the guys who called Sam, you know, ray Lewis picks
- 15:57Speaker 3: up the phone. Ed Reid picks up the phone call
- 16:00Speaker 3: to make their case. There's no doubt he's a Hall
- 16:03Speaker 3: of Fame quarterback. But it's that that last word guy fame, right,
- 16:07Speaker 3: Frank Gore is a famous runner who has more yards
- 16:10Speaker 3: because he played longer than Fred, hid better than Fred,
- 16:13Speaker 3: but he's famous. He played in San Francisco.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Play in the playoffs.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I played a lot more than that. Same thing
- 16:19Speaker 3: with Adrian Peterson, who's the next guy that's probably going
- 16:22Speaker 3: to push Fred back a little bit because Peterson had
- 16:25Speaker 3: eight thousand yard rushing seasons, played in Minnesota, played in
- 16:29Speaker 3: some big games, and his neighbors.
- 16:31Speaker 5: He might be Fred's equal in terms of if they
- 16:33Speaker 5: were both in the same tea, who would you start
- 16:35Speaker 5: as a question? Frank gorge eron Bettis some other guys
- 16:38Speaker 5: are not Fred's in my opinion, No, But.
- 16:41Speaker 3: When you see Adrian Peterson's days that list, do you
- 16:43Speaker 3: understand sure he's gonna draw a lot more people because
- 16:46Speaker 3: he played in bigger games in bigger markets more consistently
- 16:50Speaker 3: than Fred. And and let's be honest, the people who
- 16:53Speaker 3: covered Fred are mostly guys our age or a little older,
- 16:58Speaker 3: and they're gone, and he doesn't in Jacksonville. But it
- 17:01Speaker 3: matters in places like Cincinnati and Cleveland, in places that's
- 17:04Speaker 3: allfread and they don't. He doesn't have the advocates that
- 17:07Speaker 3: he did back then, so it's going to take longer.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I remain convinced that Fred Taylor will ultimately get into
- 17:13Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame. It's just yet Gore and Peterson
- 17:17Speaker 3: coming right now, and that just pushes him off a
- 17:20Speaker 3: little bit. It's easier for the voters to put them
- 17:22Speaker 3: in because it's the Hall of Fame.
- 17:24Speaker 5: And they do do it positionally, like Brian sawmy have fifteen.
- 17:28Speaker 5: So a lot of times the voters I've talked to
- 17:30Speaker 5: enough of him the way they think. Even when Miscelli
- 17:33Speaker 5: was going through, Hey, there were four linemen that they
- 17:37Speaker 5: thought wanted to get in, so the voters were going
- 17:39Speaker 5: to vote for those four sort of in order. They
- 17:42Speaker 5: do do it positionally like that. I'm not sure that's right,
- 17:46Speaker 5: but that's the nature.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Of the vote.
- 17:47Speaker 3: The number of players who called Sam Kavaris from around
- 17:50Speaker 3: the league who played against Spread is truly impressive. If
- 17:54Speaker 3: those players continue to support Fred, he'll get in.
- 17:58Speaker 1: It's a bit of a campaign as well.
- 18:00Speaker 3: But it's the other players that wanted to make sure
- 18:02Speaker 3: that they stood up for Fred. Maybe I didn't say
- 18:04Speaker 3: that clearly. They knew that Fred was battling uphill being
- 18:07Speaker 3: in Jacksonville and being in a small market, so they
- 18:10Speaker 3: came to his defense and to propose to everybody, we
- 18:14Speaker 3: Hall of famers think he belongs.
- 18:16Speaker 5: Yeah, one problem that we sort of it's easy to miss.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Every market has their guy like this, and I get
- 18:26Speaker 5: the Jacksonville's mad, and I'm sort of mad that Fred's
- 18:28Speaker 5: not you know, in by now. But it is a
- 18:32Speaker 5: hard process and that Tony Bissel you said very sincerely
- 18:35Speaker 5: every year he didn't get in, he said, look, the
- 18:37Speaker 5: five guys you got in are unbelievable players. Just because
- 18:41Speaker 5: I'm not getting in doesn't mean these guys shouldn't. And
- 18:44Speaker 5: that really is the reality of.
- 18:45Speaker 4: It, you know.
- 18:46Speaker 5: And I'm with Brian. I think eventually it will work out.
- 18:52Speaker 5: It's just going to take time.
- 18:54Speaker 2: How many years was it for Tony? What was his process? Like,
- 18:56Speaker 2: I'm unfamiliar, so just early six years?
- 18:59Speaker 4: No, it was longer.
- 19:00Speaker 5: It was he retired in O one and got in
- 19:04Speaker 5: in what twenty one?
- 19:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but it was a six year process where he
- 19:07Speaker 3: was a finalist.
- 19:08Speaker 4: And the het in and he was I it was
- 19:12Speaker 4: longer than six, but it was it was long, I mean, and.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So once you get to that, it's stages, right, So
- 19:17Speaker 1: it's like.
- 19:19Speaker 4: You sort of build toward it.
- 19:20Speaker 5: And that's what we hope with Fred is that you
- 19:22Speaker 5: can get him back on that track where there's momentum
- 19:25Speaker 5: building towards because he deserves it well.
- 19:26Speaker 3: And a lot of it is the other guys that
- 19:28Speaker 3: come into the room. You see Eli Manning is in
- 19:29Speaker 3: the room this year, right, he hadn't been in previously.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Well that that it isn't like they have to take
- 19:34Speaker 3: a running back. So you see some of these guys
- 19:36Speaker 3: that get in and you think, well, I mean they're
- 19:38Speaker 3: obviously Hall of famers. Eli Manning, you know, one beat
- 19:42Speaker 3: the one, two super Bowls. I mean, he's clearly going
- 19:44Speaker 3: to get in. So that takes away some votes, and
- 19:47Speaker 3: it's the dynamic has to be there, and it finally
- 19:50Speaker 3: was for Tony Boselli, and there were a lot of
- 19:52Speaker 3: people that got in his corner, and I think eventually
- 19:55Speaker 3: a lot of people will get in. How many years
- 19:56Speaker 3: you have twenty five years in the modern era, yeah, yeah,
- 19:59Speaker 3: so he's got an number of years.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Left a little more about timing but unfortunate step back,
- 20:03Speaker 2: but we're gonna keep a eye on it, and we
- 20:05Speaker 2: always encourage anyone to talk about Fred Taylor.
- 20:08Speaker 1: We love to talk about Fred Taylor.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So hopefully we'll see some more progress with that going
- 20:12Speaker 2: forward in years to come. Stay with you here on
- 20:14Speaker 2: Jackson we'll tell you what's coming up the rest of
- 20:15Speaker 2: the week.
- 20:23Speaker 1: DAGs fans.

- 20:28Speaker 2: Chair is furniture for fans and the regular season finale
- 20:31Speaker 2: against the Titans, brought to you by Ticketmaster, the official
- 20:34Speaker 2: ticket marketplace of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 20:38Speaker 1: One more chance, at least hopefully more to check out
- 20:42Speaker 1: your team at the bank this weekend. It's maybe even one.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Yeah, And for fans maybe they don't really this.
- 20:47Speaker 5: I think they're gonna I think they're gonna win a
- 20:50Speaker 5: They're gonna have at least one home game in the playoffs.
- 20:52Speaker 4: But this is sort of the last chance to.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Be in the old lady, Yeah with eight you know,
- 20:57Speaker 5: with seventy thousand people, uh, you know, so for twenty
- 21:00Speaker 5: five years, if you've been to games, have memories. This
- 21:03Speaker 5: is sort of the last time it's going to be
- 21:05Speaker 5: this level. I have forty thousand, and then it'll be new.
- 21:08Speaker 5: It'll be tougher to get a ticket next year as well.
- 21:10Speaker 4: So and you're playing the Titans, right, I mean, this
- 21:13Speaker 4: is the team you hate.
- 21:14Speaker 3: So it's funny because the Titans came in here as
- 21:16Speaker 3: the Oilers and they played in the first game in
- 21:19Speaker 3: the stadium in nineteen.
- 21:20Speaker 4: That's a good point. September third.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Now they became the Titans and they're playing in essentially
- 21:23Speaker 3: the last as you just said, as the old lady.
- 21:26Speaker 3: So the league doesn't miss you guys know this. The
- 21:28Speaker 3: league doesn't miss the chance to create just a little
- 21:30Speaker 3: bit of drama around it, just a little bit. They
- 21:33Speaker 3: hope that everybody catches on and does this. I just
- 21:38Speaker 3: it's going to be a beautiful day. And it has
- 21:40Speaker 3: been an amazing season. And we can debate if this
- 21:43Speaker 3: season is the best season in Jaguars history.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Yeah, a regular season, it is, But I think that's up.
- 21:50Speaker 3: For debate too. You know, two old guys to go
- 21:53Speaker 3: back to the early days, the glory years of the Jaguars,
- 21:55Speaker 3: who think this team is worthy of that conversation and
- 21:59Speaker 3: if that's the case, I'm a lot of people who
- 22:00Speaker 3: are watching field the same way. Come on out, let's
- 22:03Speaker 3: start celebrating this thing. You know, they always like to
- 22:05Speaker 3: throw a historical side to this. If the Jaguars win
- 22:07Speaker 3: on Sunday, they will have won seven games at home,
- 22:10Speaker 3: which matches the ninety six ninety seven nine teams who
- 22:14Speaker 3: won seven at home. So it's been as good a
- 22:16Speaker 3: year to be a Jaguars fan in Jacksonville as it's
- 22:20Speaker 3: ever been.
- 22:21Speaker 2: It's a potential hat and T shirt game as well.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Come on, we love apparel. I do want to close
- 22:26Speaker 2: this out. We're going to get We're all about ball
- 22:27Speaker 2: here on Jags Am. So we have to give some
- 22:29Speaker 2: credit to the production department winner of Fantasy Football, Gabby
- 22:35Speaker 2: Dalton all ballmers, no.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Fantasy, as we like to say, So give her full credit.
- 22:39Speaker 2: She's behind all the masters someone's giving her full credit.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I mean, you know, a few people, just a few people,
- 22:44Speaker 2: but we people are upset with this. We're giving her
- 22:46Speaker 2: all the credit because anytime a woman in the department,
- 22:49Speaker 2: I will give her all the credit. She's behind all
- 22:51Speaker 2: of the masterpieces. You guys love on the Hunt series,
- 22:54Speaker 2: and there's a new episode coming out very soon that
- 22:56Speaker 2: you do not want to miss. So congratulations to Gabby All.

- 23:02Speaker 2: helps us out a little bit. We'll see you back
