Transcript
- 0:21Hey, everyone, welcome to bless us mess of grand podcast. I don't
- 0:23care here was students, douy. Alright, so we're back with you.
- 0:26We're finishing up our series on the Murdoch Murders because we're just a bunch of
- 0:32basic bitches and everybody else was doing it, so why not us. Anyways,
- 0:36Um, tonight we're covering Paul and Maggie and basically the finale to this
- 0:43current times of Alex Murdoch and his hideous family. That's what we're covering tonight.
- 0:50So if you miss the other ones, go back. We did Mallory
- 0:53the previous episode, and then Stephen and Gloria for the first episode. But
- 0:59I don't think that be in the list of the podcast episode. Yes,
- 1:02it would steward to be in the list of the podcast episodes. I'm just
- 1:04telling people, we don't know who's new here. We don't know you're you're
- 1:08stupid anyways, all right, So, um, anything new with us?
- 1:14Our bathroom model remodel is still ongoing. Well, I don't know how long.
- 1:19What kind of required all these podcasts in three days? Okay? Well,
- 1:21no, it's we're thirty days in. Yes, we're a month into
- 1:25what was supposed to be at ten to fourteen day remodel. I mean I
- 1:29thought ten days was being optimistic, but I thought maybe two to two to
- 1:36three weeks tops. But no, they were going to destroyed the tile job
- 1:42in the shower. They had to purchase on their own dime, all new
- 1:47tile for the shower, all new tile for the shower floor. Anyways,
- 1:52were we're di I wires. This was a huge ordeal for us. We
- 1:56are not like people that just go and like pay people to do stuff.
- 1:59This was something that was like way beyond our capabilities. But most of the
- 2:02time we do stuff on our own. So anyway, so this I've had
- 2:06an anxiety about doing this. That's why we put it off and put it
- 2:07off because I'm afraid to pay people money and then it be terrible. And
- 2:12now it's all happening, like it's all happening but in a bad way.
- 2:17Still don't know what that means. We were just watching it. We were
- 2:21watching the old episode. We were watching She's still married to Shay. I'm
- 2:25watching I don't know, old episodes of vander pump Rolls to see the little
- 2:29easter eggs of how uh Tom Sandival is going to screw over Arianna and sleep
- 2:36with Rachel. I mean Roquell. Her name's bitch's name is Rachel. She
- 2:42just when she came on the show, her name was rock Hill. You
- 2:45know. Yeah, they do that anyways. But hopefully the bathroom is supposed
- 2:50to be done. And I will never pay another human being to ever do
- 2:53anything for us ever. Again. This is the second time we've been screwed.
- 2:57I was just going to say, I told you so. What do
- 3:00you mean you told me so? Anyways, I digress from that catastrophe that
- 3:07is currently happening with us, and um, so let's just move on to
- 3:13a different catastrophe, stew that is the Murdoch family. Yes, how Alec
- 3:21is his name Alex Alex. I will not call him Alec. I will
- 3:24not give him the um what is the word I'm looking for? Yeah,
- 3:29Murdoch and he want they want to go buy Murdocks or coming. So yeah,
- 3:32we'll get into it tonight. We'll cover Paul and Maggie and do you

- 4:55that's not happening at night or this night or this night or Stu hates that
- 5:00when I say reference the time of day, No don't, Yes you do.
- 5:03Every time I say let's get into this episode tonight, you're like,
- 5:08You're like, just stop, why do you say tonight? No I don't,
- 5:11Yes you do? You do? All right, So we made the
- 5:14executive decision to stop that childlike, no, no, I don't, Yes
- 5:18you do, and let's start. So. Margaret Maggie Kennedy Murdoch Nay Brandsteader
- 5:27was born September fifteenth, nineteen sixty eight, to Kennedy and Terry Brandsteader in
- 5:30Nashville, Tennessee. She would attend the University of South Carolina, where she
- 5:34would meet her future husband Alex Murdoch. A fate, a day of infamy,
- 5:42Stuart, is that what they say? So for a lot of people,
- 5:46yes, that's where their life ended was when these two assholes met.
- 5:51I'm sure things would have turned out how he met some others. I don't
- 5:56know. I think maybe, I think maybe Glory Mario was a direct um
- 6:00casualty casualty of this this bitch. Anyways, but can you It's so funny
- 6:06to think that there's two people meeting somewhere right now and they're going to have
- 6:13they're going to be the cause of your death. You know, like there's
- 6:15two people. Well no, I'm just saying in general, just like the
- 6:18big picture, it's like it sets into motion. There's things that take decades
- 6:21and it leads to your demise. The other two dummies that met nice then
- 6:27they started podcasting. Yeah this is true, and now it's you guys as
- 6:31demise as you. So anyways, she met alex Murdoch, so together they
- 6:38would have two sons, Alexander Murdoch Junior, who went by Buster and Terry
- 6:42Paul Murdoch who went by Paul. But Paulus, Oh my god, stop
- 6:47no Jesus Christ. Paul was born in April fourteenth, nineteen ninety nine,
- 6:53in Hampton, South Carolina. Now in June seven, twenty twenty one,
- 6:57at ten twenty one pm. Now we're we're talking like this because if you
- 7:01if you're if you're like behind and you don't know anything, like go back
- 7:04and listen to the previous episodes. That's all I can tell you. They
- 7:09can be standalone episodes, but your best listening to previous episodes. So anyway,
- 7:15So on that day, June seventh, twenty one, a call came
- 7:21in from Alex Murdock to nine one one. He is hysterical. He's asking
- 7:26for police and an ambulance at forty one forty seven Mozelle Drive in Coleton County,
- 7:30South Carolina. He tells the operator, my wife and child have been
- 7:35shot badly. He tells her they are not breathing, and she asked if
- 7:40he saw anyone and he says no. Well, the police and the paramedics.
- 7:45They arrive at the scene at around ten twenty five pms. This is
- 7:47real quick turnaround and they find Paul and Maggie dead. Now, Paul was
- 7:53laying halfway in the kennels while Maggie was about fifteen away. Because this is
- 7:57a big, big, sprawling property. Um, I think we might get
- 8:01into it a little bit later, but it's over seventeen hundred acres, huge
- 8:05property. We talked about it a lot in the last episode. And so
- 8:09there's kennels like you have to drive to get yeah, yeah, you gotta
- 8:13load up and go places. So these kennels were over in another area so
- 8:18Paul's Paul's body is laying halfway in the kennels while Maggie was about fifteen fifteen
- 8:22feet away from him, and both had multiple gunshot wounds. Now, upon
- 8:28initial investigation, they could see that Paul had been shot in the head area,
- 8:31while Maggie had been shot multiple times. They know she was in the
- 8:37back and everything that, but well she was trying to run. Yeah,
- 8:39but we'll get into that. And also, I would just like to end
- 8:43this is our disclaimer. We know that there have been people dedicating their entire
- 8:48lives to this for the last couple I know, we've already told you you
- 8:50gotta go back. You'll you'll learn nothing new here. Okay, we might
- 8:54get some stuff wrong. Who knows, We don't know. Okay, there's
- 8:56so much information for these people, Like I I pride myself in doing like
- 9:01good research and everything, but these I mean, you have to you did
- 9:03have You would have to dedicate your whole entire life to researching these people because
- 9:09there's so much information, because they're that terrible of people, and there's just
- 9:13endless information about them, so and all the shitty things they have done.
- 9:16Yeah, So we're just we're summarizing what's going on and everything like that,
- 9:20and then but yeah, we understand, like there's there's so much information on
- 9:24this and it's and there's other podcast and TV show nothing about these people.
- 9:33Well, police interview Alex since he's the only one at the scene, and
- 9:37he tells police that around seven pm he took a nap and he walked up
- 9:41around seven thirty. I mean, who the hell takes a half hour nap
- 9:43at seven I know this is something if you're going to if you're gonna napping
- 9:48at seven pm, that's like a real hard decision, Like am I gonna
- 9:50take a nap or I'm just gonna go to bed. I'm just gonna go
- 9:52to bed. Yeah, I'm going to bed. I might stay up till
- 9:56seven thirty and then call it on it. I mean, I feel like
- 9:58if you make it pass four thirty PM and you have not made the decision
- 10:01to take a nap, you've made it. You've entered into like I'm just
- 10:03gonna go to bed early. Like you're either going to take a nap before
- 10:07four thirty or you're going to bed early. You can't do both, say
- 10:11before two, No, I think you could. I think I'm okay with
- 10:16like a three to four pm nap and you can still go to bed at
- 10:18like nine or ten. Well, how long is your nap? How one
- 10:20are you gonna wake up? Three to four? Wake up befour? You
- 10:24mean wake up at four? Yes? I thought you meant if you happen.
- 10:28Oh no, No, I mean like four thirties, like cut off,
- 10:31Like if you're not up by four thirty. Yeah, if you're not
- 10:33up by four thirty, then you're you're not going to bed. You're gonna
- 10:37be up till freaking one two o'clock in the morning, just watering around the
- 10:39house, meandering around like, oh my god, why did I take that
- 10:43nap? So, yeah, seven pm nap, that's not even that's a
- 10:46rich person problem right there, because you've done nothing all day. Yeah,
- 10:50you've done nothing. You're like, fuck it, I'll just take a nap
- 10:52at seven pm doing nothing. That's hard, that's far. This is rich
- 10:56people problems. I don't know, I've done nothing all day before and I
- 10:58was for a nap. I just went to bed earlier though. Yeah,
- 11:01that's what I'm saying. Like a rich person, they're like, I don't
- 11:03have anything to do tomorrow. I got all this money, I'll just take
- 11:05a nap. Yeah, my big ass seventeen hundred acres. Now, Alex
- 11:13says he didn't seek Paul or Maggie, and like, no, shit,
- 11:16why would you see him? You went down take a half at seven pm.
- 11:18Maybe they went to bed early, or maybe they went to do something.
- 11:22Okay, well that's fine, of course you wouldn't see. I was
- 11:24just saying, well, no, you might see somebody at seven thirty store.
- 11:28I don't know what your thing is that I don't do we not do
- 11:31we become invisible? I don't know. This is your your luxury what you
- 11:35call it, your vacation house on seventeen hundred acres. Don't they have another
- 11:39house somewhere else? They have a main house, they have this house.
- 11:43They definitely have a beach house that I know of, because that's where we'll
- 11:48get into it later. That old Maggie was living was the beach house.
- 11:52But yeah, it's a big property. So for him not to see anybody
- 11:56is not out of the norm, like they could be anywhere. Yeah,
- 12:00on the seventeen hundred acres doing god knows what, hunting, fishing, killings.
- 12:05Can't say that killing, sex workers can't say prostituts no anyway, Alex
- 12:13just assumed that the wife and the kid were somewhere out on the property.
- 12:18He said that he texted him around eight or five pm saying that he was
- 12:20going out to his parents' house. His father was gravely ill and his mother
- 12:26was suffering from dementia, So he heads to their home. You know,
- 12:31if he wasn't such a terrible person, I'd feel sorry for him. But
- 12:33I don't why because his father's ill and his mother has dementias? Do they
- 12:41do they really? Now? He heads to their home and spends a few
- 12:45hours, according to him, He then heads back to the Moselle property and
- 12:48arrives at about ten pm. He heads over to the kennel area, which
- 12:52is a short drive away on the property, where he finds Maggie and Paul.
- 12:58Alex is very I could have After a police arrive and he tells him
- 13:01that he believes that someone murdered Paul over the boat accident, the one that
- 13:07had killed Mallory Beach, and he tells him that he was not He's almost
- 13:13positive it was something somebody that was mad about that, but he's not sure
- 13:18who it could be. Yeah, he just knows that he's been getting threats
- 13:22or people are very upset about this because it has been two years and everything
- 13:26like that. But he just doesn't know who the actual person. Yeah,
- 13:28because because this boat accident quotation marks accident, it is an accident. He
- 13:37wasn't intentional. Well, this could have all been prevented. However, Okay,
- 13:43this accident could have been prevented. However, this is the one thing
- 13:48that starts drawn. Yes, they can. That's why we have safety briefings.
- 13:52So that's why this one can want to get into safety briefings. Do
- 13:56you want to get into safety brief yes, I would love to. Please
- 14:00tell me more. Start your safety brief briefing. Don't add to the population,
- 14:05don't reduce from the population. Don't end up in the newspaper, the
- 14:09hospital or jel and if you do end up in jail, established established dominance
- 14:13quickly. Really. Yeah, that's the safety work. That's a safety briefing.
- 14:20That's for all of you people today. Why can't you add to the
- 14:24population. You don't want to add to the that's the safety briefing today.
- 14:26Don't knock anybody up. Well, you must have missed that safety briefing.
- 14:31At least twice. I did. No, you missed the safety briefing.
- 14:37There should have been a safety briefing that day both days. Yes, we
- 14:43love the little, precious little nuggets to death. Though Alex has telling police
- 14:50that Paul had received numerous death roats over this boating accident, however, none
- 14:56of them seem credible. He then lets them know that he touched the bodies
- 15:01and that he had brought a gun out from his home to the scene.
- 15:05Why would you bring a gun out there? Well, you're just on you're
- 15:09out in South Carolina. That's just standard. You put your I mean,
- 15:11I don't understand why you tell him that you brought it. You put your
- 15:15pants on, you put your put your gun on. Just I mean,
- 15:20I don't have a problem with the person. I just like, why is
- 15:22that a Well he's just telling him I brought a gun to the situation.
- 15:28It's out there. Well, he's a lawyer, he knows. He's like,
- 15:30I need to tell the cops I brought a gun. An autopsy would
- 15:33later reveal that fifty two year old Maggie and twenty two year old Paul died
- 15:37somewhere between nine and nine thirty pm. Maggie was shot multiple times in the
- 15:43chest and the back with a semi automatic rifle. They determined that it looked
- 15:48like Maggie had been running away from the perpetrator when she was shot. Paula
- 15:54shot once in the chest and once in the neck face area with a shot
- 15:58gun. Yes. See, to me, it seems like maybe Paul was
- 16:00shot first and then Maggie started running away and the person who did this,
- 16:07I wonder who that, yeah, shot her? So that's what That's what
- 16:11it seemed like to me whenever I heard that, because he's confront Paul is
- 16:14facing the person, and Maggie's like, I can get the funk out of
- 16:17here. Well, OJ has been looking for the murderer of Nicole the golf
- 16:22courses. Did you maybe he could help Alex out by looking for them?
- 16:26He actually made a statement about all this. Oh I didn't think. Yeah,
- 16:30I don't remember what he said, but yeah, he's you know,
- 16:33he's yeah, OJ of course is going to show up. Of course.
- 16:40Now I gotta google this and find out. Yeah, I remember him doing
- 16:42it. Was like right after the verdict came down or whatever. He had
- 16:48something to say. Anyways, So as word got out about the murders.
- 16:52The media coverage just explodes. Paul was scheduled to finally go to court on
- 16:56June tenth, twenty twenty one. June tenth, tent tent can get June
- 17:03tenth, twenty twenty one. I gotta beat back the Rednecks to June tenth,
- 17:08twenty twenty one for the death of Mallory Beach in twenty nineteen. Like
- 17:12this is the death that we were talking about. He said he was getting
- 17:15threats or whatever. Now theories began to fly about why Maggie and Paul were
- 17:21killed. Who was the target and who was the collateral damage? Dude,
- 17:25that's the question. Which one actually needed to die and which one just had
- 17:30to die because they saw the other one die. Now, one of the
- 17:33first theories that emerges is that someone was upset about Mallory killed Paul out of
- 17:38revenge and Maggie just happened to be there, so she had to die as
- 17:41well, and that's what that's what Alex was riding on whenever he told the
- 17:45police. Seems plausible. Now. Another theory was that Maggie was the target
- 17:49due to rumors of her wanting to divorce old Alex. Now there was also
- 17:53the fact that the Murdochs came from a long line of solicitors, and this
- 17:57means that there could be a disgruntled criminal having wanted to retaliate against the family.
- 18:06So he's somebody along the long line of people that they've thrown in jail
- 18:11got out. Was like, I hate these people. I'm gonna lark by
- 18:14these hunting dog kennels and just wait for somebody to show up and killed them.
- 18:18So that's the other theory. So we got three working theories that could
- 18:22possibly be why Paul and Maggie were murdered. Now, the first person that
- 18:26the police look at is the Murdo housekeeper. What, okay, was Alex
- 18:32Murta too soon Stewart? Too soon? Yes, Jesus. Why Gloria was
- 18:38the nanny? Oh? She was the housekeeper letter, wasn't she? Yes?
- 18:42No, she was the housekeeper first, then she turned to the nanny.
- 18:45But she's also dead, so too soon. Well you don't think they
- 18:48got another housekeeper aft of that? Oh? Okay, whatever, go on?
- 18:52It was just a general housekeeper, okay, sure it was sure it
- 18:56was oh, my goodness person too soon? Okay, So they looking at
- 19:03Alex for some reason, wondering if he had any reason he might want to
- 19:07kill his son and his wife. They began looking into possible stressors in the
- 19:11marriage. Now Paul was a major stress because of this boating accident, because
- 19:17he's a ship hidden. Yeah, this one boating accident just coused everybody start
- 19:22looking at this whole family's history and all the ship that's I mean, they
- 19:26were terrible before, but Paul just like pushed him into the Limelet and I
- 19:30don't care that Paul's did. He still doesn't make him Just because you died
- 19:33as an all of a sudden, just a race everything Badge did. Yeah,
- 19:36what a terrible human you were. Yeah, So Paul was a major
- 19:40stress because he had brought to light issues in the family with the substance abuse
- 19:45through the boat crash and continuing to drinking party while he was awaiting trial.
- 19:49Yeah, zero zero fus given on Paul's part for what he had done to
- 19:55Mallory. Now he didn't just continued he needed probably treatment for his alcohol addiction.
- 20:02Yeah, he'd probably been drank him since he was like ten. Well,
- 20:03no, we said, we know, we knew he we talked about
- 20:07his dude was fourteen. Well you don't You don't think he was sneaking before.
- 20:11Well, I'm sure he was, But I mean I was here for
- 20:14the four team where they allowed him to drink, but he might have been
- 20:18sneaking the stuff. Pretty sure. That was now Buster, the older son
- 20:22Buster. Why would you go by Buster, I don't know. Well,
- 20:26the Buster was the family name back in the Yeah, the Buster was the
- 20:32family nickname for his grandpa or whatever back in the day, Okay, And
- 20:37it was forced upon him, like everything else in his family forced upon him.
- 20:44Well, old Buster the oldest. He was expelled from the University of
- 20:47South Carolina for plagiarism, and at the time he was the only shining light
- 20:52for Alex and Maggie because he was set to follow in his father's footsteps and
- 20:56become an attorney and joined the family. My business, how lazy are you?
- 21:00You're a rich Okay. I've been to college a couple of times,
- 21:06okay twice. In really into it, I did not have any money.
- 21:11I did not have any help for my parents or anything like that. And
- 21:15I had to, you know, pay for everything and pay for school and
- 21:19do all this stuff. And I never once like plagiarized anything like that or
- 21:23like that. So this little shit who had everything given to him. I
- 21:27guarantee his parents were paying for his apartment, paying for his food, paying
- 21:32for every little necessity that he needed, all his lot, everything. All
- 21:36he had to do was study and do school work and drinking a party him
- 21:41and all he and he has to go and cheat like I mean, you
- 21:42had everything given to you. I mean, if anything, the poor kids
- 21:45should be the ones cheating. I mean they're busy, they're working. Yeah,
- 21:48I gotta pay for schooling. Yeah. Are you so you're you're okay
- 21:53with cheating if you're poor, Sure, yes, you're just it's a lot
- 21:57to do it. Well, if you any of you people that are struggling
- 22:02to make ends, mate, get caught plagiarizing or chading, just telling Carros
- 22:04that it was okay, it's okay. I'm just saying, you're already rich.
- 22:08What do you need? What do you need to plagiarize. It's like
- 22:11that girl that was like the Walmart eRASS or whatever. She got caught she
- 22:15was in college or whatever, and they found out she'd she'd paid someone for
- 22:18all of her schoolwork and take all of her tests. I thought you're gonna
- 22:22say she gotta caught shoplifting or something. No at Walmart. Yeah, that'd
- 22:25be awesome. It's some Nobo or whatever that's the brand is at Walmart anyways,
- 22:30no boundaries if any you're wondering. But no, she got caught because
- 22:34she'd been paying someone to take test and do all this stuff. She did
- 22:37her whole entire college degree, and she'd paid someone off to do the whole
- 22:40thing. It's like, why even get one just she was busy. She
- 22:44just wandered one anyways, kind of like if you want one of them design
- 22:49her dogs, you just go buy one. Yeah, well that's what they
- 22:52felt. Well, no, that's what happened to Laurie Laughlin whenever she tried
- 22:56to buy her children their degrees at whatever, you know university. Anyways,
- 23:03we're digressing. Go on, Stuard, go on, get back on,
- 23:04get back on. Point Buster's a ship. Heead, he plagiarized, he
- 23:07gets kicked out of college. Good for the college though, for actually following
- 23:11through on that, because I'm sure they wrote a hefty check to the University
- 23:15of Healthcare. I don't think they hadn't like Charleston money where they got like
- 23:18their own building named after him. There's probably not a Murdo building on site.
- 23:22Yeah, you're a poor man's Charleston. So what you're saying is Buster
- 23:27was poor and those he can cheat because he was a poor man's Charleston.
- 23:32Yes, no, Stuart, Okay, we've gone too far into this,
- 23:36too many jokes about that. Yes, we've gone way too deep into this.
- 23:38People are turning off the podcast right now. It's quite possible. Police
- 23:42also find rumors of cracks in the Murdo marriage. They believe not just butt
- 23:48cracks, though there's a lot of those. I'm sorry, it's a fifth
- 23:52grade joke. Funny in fifth grade, funny now. Now, they believe
- 23:57Maggie had discovered some finny anential issues, that Alex was not paying some of
- 24:02the bills, and this would have been a complete shock to Maggie given the
- 24:07families supposed great wealth. No, it's a great wealth, well the family.
- 24:12Yeah, it's just that you shouldn't be behind anyone. You shouldn't have
- 24:15any debt, You shouldn't have anything making this kind of money. Don't get
- 24:19me started on debt, Stewart, I don't know how much money they're making.
- 24:23They're making a lot of money, and they got all this inherited land
- 24:26and stuff like that. I don't think any of those homes that there have
- 24:30I think they're all like passed down through the family. That's what I think.
- 24:36I don't know. I didn't well, Maggie was said to have hired
- 24:38a forensic accountant to determine where all the money that was supposedly coming in,
- 24:45where it was actually going, and why they were just struggling despite what their
- 24:48reported income was. Man, you're a real skeptical of their income. I
- 24:52am like a lot of allegedly they were allegedly making money, they were legged
- 25:00lee bank bills. Now, to add to this, it was rumored that
- 25:03Maggie was seeing a divorce attorney and living at the Murdock Beach House out in
- 25:10Adisto. A disto, A disto, I don't know, A disco ball
- 25:15A Disto Adisto Tomato, Tomato. I'm sure we'll hear about it. Oh,
- 25:21I'm sure we will. If there's somebody living in a Disto beach gonna
- 25:25be like, these people are stupid. That's fine, Probably are probably right.
- 25:29Yep. Well, this a Disto Adisto is about an hour and a
- 25:33half from Hampton, South Carolina. Where the family home is located. So
- 25:38it's not too too bad. Well, I mean, if you're freaking live
- 25:41at the beach too, I don't know what. Well I would live at
- 25:44the beach, yes, but I mean if you're getting divorced, of course
- 25:47she's living an hour and a half away. There there's cracks in the marriage.
- 25:49Yeah, I'll SLED, which is South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, was
- 25:55brought in to investigate the murders. SLED, it's not hasn't anything to do
- 25:59with Santa Now. They were very quiet with the information, but they did
- 26:03state multiple times that there was no active threat to the public despite their being
- 26:08a double homicide and no suspects. Now that's alarming because if two people are
- 26:15murdered, you would think that if they don't know who it is and they
- 26:18don't have any suspects, you'd be like, hey, y'all, you need
- 26:21to wake up, you know, watch out, because there's somebody out there
- 26:22like killing people, shooting them and everything like that. You know, there's
- 26:26usually a threat to society if they know it's a stranger that came into this,
- 26:32so they know they know more than what they're letting on. So they
- 26:36released no other information that you would expect in a murder investigation. There was
- 26:40no information for the public to be on the lookout for, like a car
- 26:42or description of a person, which usually you get usually get a bowl and
- 26:45be like, hey, someone saw this car, or we need to look
- 26:48at this. Nothing they got. The public got nothing from these people.
- 26:53Well I got a reassurance not to worry. Well, yeah, sure,
- 26:56I guess so. Now, at this point it seemed to the public that
- 27:00they had no suspects. However, some interesting actions by police were forthcoming.
- 27:04Stewart, Oh, do tell so they're not telling a lot to the public,
- 27:07but they're doing a lot of things behind the scenes. And it's a
- 27:11little odd because normally, normally when they have a suspect, even if it's
- 27:17the husband or whoever it is, they announced it right away. But they're
- 27:19not doing that because I feel like it's such a high profile case they're having
- 27:23to treat it in a different manner. On June twenty two, twenty twenty
- 27:29one, investigators announced that they are reopening the investigation into the death, which
- 27:34they are now classifying as a murder of Stephen Smith, based on evidence that
- 27:40they gathered during the investigation of Paul and Maggie murdo. Now this is just
- 27:44a so Like I said that Paul and Maggie were murdered on June seventh,
- 27:48So this is less than or right about two weeks after this occurred. Yeah,
- 27:55So the Smith family moms had been saying all along that this is odd.
- 28:00He wasn't hit by a car. Blah blah blah. She thinks there
- 28:03was some foul play or to her son's murder. Just blah blah blah.
- 28:10Wow, gonna call me out that are you? That's dirty. They've been
- 28:12working for years to prove that their son was not run Yeah, they knew
- 28:18he was murdered for the foul play, like if something hadn't gone down.
- 28:26Yes, yes, he'd been murdered. They or or Manslow or whatever you
- 28:29want to call it, got carried up. Someone attacked him and it got
- 28:33way out of hand and next thing you know, up to first degree murder,
- 28:36that somebody planning to killing you. They'd hired that private investigator and everything
- 28:40like that. Now this cast a lot of suspicion on Buster and or Paul's
- 28:45involvement with Steven's murder, making all those rumors out there potentially true. And
- 28:49if you're not. If you're not clear on the rumors, go back and
- 28:52listen to our episode two two times before this is that any saying chair one?
- 28:59Okay, Now this adds stress to Alex as well, who is already
- 29:03under suspicion and the death of his wife and son. Police continue to investigate
- 29:08the murders of Paul and Maggie, and Alex Murdoch's life quickly and continuously unravels
- 29:17after all this. Yeah, so on September third, twenty twenty one,
- 29:19we're kind of walking at this as you if you can't tell, we're walking
- 29:22through a timeline of events. This is there's this long timeline of these people
- 29:26are just always doing some you know. So on September third, twenty twenty
- 29:30one, PMPD PEED, PIMPED like I like to call it law firm,
- 29:37which is the this is the Murdoch's family law firm. They confront Alex about
- 29:41the misuse of funds in the tune of millions of dollars, Like he has
- 29:45fucked over multiple people, dozens of people, and it's cost the firm millions
- 29:51of dollars, both clients money. And then he's also been found that he's
- 29:53actually been stealing the firm's money too. So it's not just clients, it's
- 29:57the firm, it's everybody. He's just screwed everybody. So they forced him
- 30:02to resign that day. They sit him down in the room, they're like,
- 30:03hey, we know you've done all this stuff. And I think it
- 30:07was probably what they probably did was his reputation was going downhill quickly between the
- 30:14murders, his son Paul, all this stuff, all this stuff's coming light
- 30:18in sore, like, we need to look into old old Alex and see
- 30:21if we can get rid of him, because we need to get him out
- 30:22of here. And then actually when they started looking into they're like, oh
- 30:25my god, he actually did some really bad stuff. He did some real
- 30:27shady shit our firm, and we're out some money. Yeah. So and
- 30:32now we're gonna pay all these clients or they're going to come after us.
- 30:34Well, now we got to reimburse all these clients for all this shit.
- 30:37Yeah. I think they were probably looking for some reason to make him resign
- 30:41because he was he was causing problems for the law firm, and when they
- 30:45started looking into it, they found that there was actual he was actually doing
- 30:48something. So the next day, September fourth, it called that was my
- 30:53mom's birth day. Stem Anyways, a call comes in from Alex Murdoch.
- 31:00He is on Salca Hatchee Road, Salca hatche I practice saying this and I
- 31:04just missed. I still salkahatche similar to what you did earlier today. So
- 31:14Salcache Road in Collaton County. And he says that he stopped to check a
- 31:18low tar on the car. Now it was his late late wife's car that
- 31:22he was cruising around town in. So he says that he someone stopped to
- 31:26help him with the tar and everything that season, you know, passing along
- 31:30stops to help, and then all of a sudden that person just suddenly pulls
- 31:33out a gun, shoots him in the head and drives off. Just I'm
- 31:37sure this is common place in Old Hampton, Collaton County, South Carolina.
- 31:41I mean I've been all the time. I've been in a few places where
- 31:45it might be common Stewart like the former Baymont Baymont Oh Yeah hotel and law
- 31:53Oh my god, Yeah, I stopped at this Starbucks and long View and
- 31:56there was a anyways, we'll just I'll just stop. Anyways, So he
- 32:02says that he was shot in the head and they drove off. So Alex
- 32:05was bleeding but was able to make a phone call and he says he needed
- 32:08an ambulance and he could not drive. Now, immediately everyone believes someone had
- 32:13a hit out on Alex Murdoch and it was someone trying to take out like
- 32:17is this someone trying to take out the Murdock family. I remember I was
- 32:21pregnant through a lot of this and having children, so I'll be honest when
- 32:23it was happening. I don't remember a lot about the Paul Murdoch Mallory situation
- 32:31where he was drunk and everything like that, but I do remember specifically,
- 32:36I just watched a brief thing about it. It did seem like Paul and
- 32:40Maggie were murdered and then now Alex is about to be murdered. It did
- 32:44seem like someone was trying to take out this family, like someone had to
- 32:46hit out on him. So also the exact that was that I thought he
- 32:51was trying to But I didn't really know anything about any of this, Like
- 32:54I hadn't paid attention to any of it. Well, I guess we don't
- 32:58talk enough. Thing we don't. It's the least amount of talking we do
- 33:01is is for the best. That's why we got too bad. We only
- 33:05talk to each other while we're doing this podcast, which is why there's so
- 33:08much offhanded conversation. Now Alex is taken by helicopter to Savannah. We've been
- 33:15a Savannah Stewart is very nice. We stayed right around the corner from the
- 33:19Mercer House and it was one of the best places if you were anywhere near
- 33:22Savannah or you're thinking about going. We went to Charleston and Savannah. Savannah's
- 33:27ten times better than Charleston. I know I'm going to start. I love
- 33:32Savannah. Savannah's more my I'm going to use them. I'm going to use
- 33:37the Is it gen z? Are they below the millennials after the millennials before
- 33:43them? Or what are they gen z? What's gen z? I don't
- 33:47know what whatever these ship heads did that came after me because I'm technically an
- 33:52older millennial. Anyways, the vibe of Savannah was much better. I just
- 33:58love it. I've had so much fun. It was so much fun.
- 34:00We went. It was we went. We stayed at that Eliza Thompson house
- 34:04and we were right around from the Mercers and we the Mercer house where if
- 34:07you've read of the Garden, in the Garden of Good and Evil. Anyways,
- 34:15we walked out there, you walk out and we sat in one of
- 34:16those squeries. I remember, we were like drinking. It was. It
- 34:19was so much fun. Anyway, So he is flown by helicopter to Savannah
- 34:22and he is expected to survive. Oh thank god. Now the next day,
- 34:27this story is everywhere. It looks like this family is being targeted and
- 34:30a killer is on the loose. So all this stuff that the sleds tame
- 34:34like, Oh, don't worry. You know, whoever call it killed Paula
- 34:37Maggie. They're not gonna hurt anybody else. Now they're out there shooting Alex.
- 34:39It seems like everybody and so they're like, hey, should we be
- 34:43worried out here? However, there does seem to be more to the story
- 34:46that starts coming out. The family makes a statement on Alex and the embezzment
- 34:52of money from Hint the firm, and Alex then tries to make a statement
- 34:55telling the public that he has an addiction problem and then he's going to go
- 35:00to rehab. Well, thank goodness, classic Alex. Mmmmmm. Now more
- 35:05confusion is added when Alex tells police a different story of about a week after
- 35:09the incident. Well, he is addicted to drugs. I mean, his
- 35:13story could change. He can do whatever he wants. That's his reason for
- 35:15doing anything. He's like, I'm addicted to drugs. That's why I snorted
- 35:19coke off that stripper's ass. I don't know why I did these things.
- 35:22You can say anything if you're addicted to drugs. You can say the drugs
- 35:25made me do it. Yeah, that quite maybe did? Okay, go
- 35:32on, stort. We had to record over something very inappropriate. I said
- 35:38something about some cock or something. What is wrong with you? I know
- 35:46I said that. I did not I would never say such a thing.
- 35:50Well, we have it on, had it on audio. It's gone,
- 35:53now it's done. More confusion has added when Alex tells police a story a
- 36:00week after the incident. He tells police he actually hired a man named Curtis
- 36:05Edward Smith to kill him so that Buster could get a ten million dollar life
- 36:08insurance payout. Fuck Buster. We don't care about Buster, neither, it
- 36:15is Alex. That's why this was staged. Nobody cares about care about Buster.
- 36:22Nobody cares about Buster. Poor buster Buster killed Stephen. We don't care
- 36:25about Buster either yes had a hand in it or oh Ginger was responsible for
- 36:32that? Do you think yes? I think he had a hand in it.
- 36:36I don't know Stewart he had a hand in something of Steven's allegedly allegedly.
- 36:43Now police interview Curtis and he claims that this is all false. He
- 36:46says he had been a friend to Alex and that if Alex had wanted him
- 36:51to kill him, he would be dead. He says that Alex did call
- 36:54him out to Basically, he's saying, I'm a good shot and if he
- 36:58wanted to be dead, he'd done be dead. I would have killed Dunbee
- 37:00did now. He said that Alex called him out to hard word road,
- 37:07had work, hard word Hatchee road. But Alex was fine. The road
- 37:14is not called hard word. It sounds like you said a hardwood road,
- 37:16hardwood, hard word Salca Hatchee road. Sure, okay, but Alex was
- 37:22fine. And when he arrived, but he was I rate. Alex pulled
- 37:25out a gun on Curtis and they wrestled with it. They wrastled with they
- 37:30had all that rassled with the gun. Buster would have been so excited.
- 37:36Yes, now the gun went off and grazed Alex head. Curtis then left.
- 37:42Police continued to investigate, and meanwhile, Alex financial crimes, they're all
- 37:46bubbling up, starting to catch up with him. On September fifty twenty one,
- 37:52Gloria Satterfield's family followed. Now, this was the housekeeper slash nanny to
- 37:58Paul that we spoke about in the first episode of our Murdoch series. Her
- 38:02family filed a lawsuit against Alex Murdoch over money they believe he pocketed from Glory's
- 38:08death. Now, they had been told for years by Alex and their attorney,
- 38:13Corey Fleming, that the money was still tied up. However, they
- 38:16found out through a newspaper article when the boat crash crash occurred, that the
- 38:21Murdoch's insurance had actually already paid out five hundred thousan dollars. They're reading this
- 38:24article and they're like, what excuse me? So they had never seen a
- 38:30dime of that money. Yeah, if you remember Alex, after mom died,
- 38:37Gloria told the kids, sue my estate for this money, and he
- 38:43said, homemater's insurance and this buddy of mine, mister Fleming will get you
- 38:46hooked up. You'll get some money for your mom's death. Blah blah.
- 38:51Me trying to make it right is what he was trying. He was trying
- 38:53to be well. He was the good person. So he says, they
- 38:57hire an attorney, and he quickly distover discovers that that not only had that
- 39:00five hundred thousand dollars been paid out, but in an additional insurance policy had
- 39:06paid out. Guess what Stewart tell me, five hundred thousand is like changes,
- 39:12yes, compared to this three point five million dollars, bringing that total
- 39:15to four million dollars that should have been paid to the Satterfield family over Gloria's
- 39:21death. Now, after some further digging, they found that Alex was the
- 39:24one that had obtained the money by using Corey Fleming and another lawyer who deposited
- 39:30the money into a special bank account. And the Filled family never received any
- 39:35of that money from Alex. So he had used multiple chains of things,
- 39:38and it was like a weird situation. The name of the bank was a
- 39:43common bank that was used for types of claims like this forage. I think
- 39:50it was called and so he had but he changed the name a little bit
- 39:52and it was very he hit it very well from if a lawyer or somebody
- 39:57was looking into it, they wouldn't even have noticed. So he did this
- 40:00to this family and it all got funneled to him, and I'm sure a
- 40:05cut got to Corey Fleming and whoever else do Why, yes, you gotta
- 40:08cut them in so they don't squeal on it. Well, Corey Fleming would
- 40:12have got his regular attorney fees, which would have been for something a third
- 40:16of it and everything that Alex got the rest of it. So they never
- 40:21said if the Corey guy got charged with anything, but which all that stuff
- 40:25could still be coming because like we said, they're digging all this stuff up
- 40:30and it's coming to light. Now we're going to find which one of these
- 40:32cops was getting paid off? Yeah, who had boats and stuff that they
- 40:36really shouldn't be able to afford. Yes, anyways, So yeah, the
- 40:39Sadderfield family got completely screwed on all this, and one of the sons was
- 40:44special needs. It's just even more terrible on top of he's just a horrible
- 40:49human being. The day after this lawsuit was filed, Alex was arrested and
- 40:54charged with fraud and conspiracy and his little suicide scheme back on September fourth,
- 41:00twenty twenty one, with mister Curtis Smith. Alex's lawyers argued that he was
- 41:07depressed by the death of his family members, he was struggling to quit painkillers,
- 41:13and he was still upset or depressed with his release from the family law
- 41:17firm. He was released to go back to the rehab facility, but his
- 41:22passport was taken. They thought he was going to leave out the country's due.
- 41:25I don't kind of understand why Garen damt he would have fled to Costa
- 41:30Rica. Well, I can go back to Costa Rica myself now a month
- 41:34later. Send you back to Costa Rica, would you Stewart now? A
- 41:38month later? On October fourteenth, twenty twenty one, Alex was arrested at
- 41:43the DTACH Center he was seeking treatment at in Florida for stealing millions of dollars
- 41:49from the Sadderfield family. He was hauled back to South Carolina and detained and
- 41:55detained and also denied bond YEP so he stuck and jump. So as the
- 42:01financial crimes against the sadder Fields are coming to the forefront, other victims are
- 42:06being discovered Now, one of those victims was from twenty eighteen, and this
- 42:09was a trooper who was in a crash on the job. Now, he
- 42:14was examined by a doctor who had diagnosed him with a sprained neck, but
- 42:19the pain it had actually continued to grow and get worse, and he paid
- 42:22out a pocket for a different doctors. They send me to one and they're
- 42:25like, oh, it's just a sprained neck, You're fine, And he's
- 42:29like, I don't think this is okay. Now, at that point he
- 42:30had been seeing a Workman's Comp doctor because I guess they assigned they have special
- 42:37doctors for Workman's comp, which seems a little shaky to me. Yeah,
- 42:42the new doctor said it was not a sprained neck, and then he actually
- 42:45needed surgery from this whole. He had been hit by a car and it
- 42:50had shocked his neck. So the claim was denied by the Workman's Comp and
- 42:53he could not afford to pay for it himself. Like, so he submits
- 42:58this and they're like, no, we're not doing this. Now, he
- 43:00was told by a lawyer in town. This lawyer was Alex Murdoch that he
- 43:06could help him get his surgery covered. They end up winning and the trooper
- 43:09was given one hundred thousand dollars check. Now, Alex told him he needed
- 43:14to put the money in a special account that would be set aside until all
- 43:16litigation was done. Well, the trooper never saw this money. He goes
- 43:22into Alice office, He signs over the check and signs the back of it
- 43:25and Alex takes it. Now, it would be three years before he found
- 43:29out he had been scammed by Alex Murdock. Now, as these additional crimes
- 43:34are uncovered, Alex was eventually charged with a total of twenty seven financial crimes.
- 43:39On December thirteenth, twenty twenty one, during a hearing, he agreed
- 43:44to pay the sadder Fields four point three million dollars. Despite this, his
- 43:49bond was set at seven million dollars and he remained in jail. Alex remained
- 43:53in jail while investigators continue to look into the murder of Paul and Maggie.
- 43:58New evidence pointing to Alex being the killer came to light, including a Snapchat
- 44:02video old Snapchat. Yeah. Apparently the judge was not too impressed with Alex
- 44:07Murraau. That's why he said his bond at seven million dollars, which is
- 44:09completely like unprecedented because these were for financial crimes that he was in therefore,
- 44:15not for any murders. So that's just like crazy that someone gets seven million
- 44:20dollars bond. Yeah. Now, On July fourteenth, twenty twenty two,
- 44:24Alex wasn't dited on two counts of murder for Paul and Maggie murder. On
- 44:30July twentieth, Alex was at his first hearing, where he pleaded not guilty
- 44:35and the defense and prosecution went to work to make their cases. Alex's team
- 44:40asked for the trial to be scheduled as soon as possible now. On January
- 44:45twenty fifth, twenty twenty three, the prosecution stated during opening arguments that Alex
- 44:51first shot Paul twice with the shotgun, once in the shoulder to stop him
- 44:54and then once in the head to kill him. He then picked up a
- 44:58rifle and shot Maggie in the leg to stop her, and then proceeded to
- 45:00shoot her multiple times to kill her. Now, the motive behind the murders
- 45:05was Alex. Alex's financial troubles and the trouble Paul had gotten into with the
- 45:09boat crash. Murdering his wife and child would draw attention away from him and
- 45:15solve some of his problems. They're like, hey, look at this,
- 45:19or just bring everything crashing down. Yeah, look at the left hand while
- 45:23the right hand is doing whatever. Don't don't pay attention to Is that the
- 45:27same? Okay? Now that the defense argued during opening statements that Alex was
- 45:32a loving father and husband who would never harm his family. They argued that
- 45:37there was no evidence tying Alex to these murders of Paul and Mackie. I
- 45:43no pa that nobody had ever heard him. We'll get into that, but
- 45:47never heard him. He called him Paul Paul the whole entire time, and
- 45:50no one had ever heard him call him Paul Paul. It was like a
- 45:52technique to make him seem more loving. No, he was an idiot.
- 45:58Yeah. Now. The prosecution presented evidence arguing that Alex did not seem very
- 46:02distraught or panicky during the initial interaction with police. He also immediately started offering
- 46:08possible perpetrators, like trying to distance himself from being the prime suspect. They
- 46:15walked through the timeline where Alex said he left to go to his parents' house,
- 46:20and Alex said on multiple occasions that he did not go to the kennels
- 46:23with Maggie and Paul. However, prosecutors introduced an explosive video caught by Paul's
- 46:31cell phone camera. It's Paul, what a dog? In the background.
- 46:36You can hear at least two voices. One is Maggie and the other one
- 46:39is clearly Alex, and he is calling a dog named Bubba, while Alex's
- 46:45face the dog's name is Bubba. Now, while Alex's face is not on
- 46:50the camera, the prosecution brought for six witnesses that identified the voice on the
- 46:54video as that belonging to Alex Murdock. I mean, I don't even know
- 46:59the fucker, but let me tell you what I want. I heard the
- 47:00video. You could hear Maggie, you could hear a pole and that you
- 47:02heard the voice the background, and it was Alex. Margat has a very
- 47:06distinct tone and in an accent. Everything like his voices. You can pick
- 47:12it out easily just by hearing him a couple of times. You know that's
- 47:15him. Yeah, if you've heard him and then you hear it a voice
- 47:19thinking yeah with him. Now. The next witness they bring to contradict his
- 47:24alibi is the caretaker of Alex's mother, She says that she saw Alex around
- 47:30nine twenty pm, which was an odd time for him to visit. She
- 47:35says he left after just fifteen minutes and seemed very nervous. She says the
- 47:38next week after the murders, Alex spoke to her and tried to get her
- 47:43to tell investigators that he was there longer than he actually was. Now I
- 47:46have a theory on this whole thing where she said he seemed nervous. Rich
- 47:51people don't ever seem nervous. You know, rich people walking in with I'm
- 47:55just saying, I'm just assuming I'm well, I hope out nab with quite
- 48:01a few stuarts, have you. Yes, rich people are never nervous.
- 48:06They're just come in. They're just like, I'm fucking here, I'm rich,
- 48:07bitch, What you gonna do about it? Can you hanging out with
- 48:10Daschappellagan? Yes, So he walks in these nervous, which is a weird
- 48:15thing because, like I said, rich people aren't nervous, then they ain't
- 48:21got nothing to lose. I ain't nervous. I'm nervous all the time.
- 48:24Like what, like you murder somebody? Yeah, I'm like someone trying to
- 48:28get me, like, you know, like you murdered somebody and you're about
- 48:31to get caught at home. I feel like someone's always trying to like one
- 48:36up me or like trying to come at me. That's just my paranoia.
- 48:38Though. Well, one day I hope to be rich, and I'm offended
- 48:43that you are a future stereotyping me as a rich person. That I just
- 48:45you're never nervous, But I would exactly. Rich people aren't nervous, they're
- 48:51just nervous. That could be nervous, little allis No, I'd be nervous.
- 48:55Somebody was trying to kill me all the time because you're rich or kidna?
- 48:58That marror, Okay, anyways, go on, Stuart. That's just
- 49:01my theory, she says. The next week after the murders, Alex spoke
- 49:06to her and tried to get her to tell investigators he was there longer than
- 49:09he actually was. She also stated that the morning after the murders, Alex
- 49:15showed up with a blue tarp like item bawled up under his arms. The
- 49:19caretaker immediately went upstairs upon seeing him, police him. He makes her nervous.
- 49:27Yes, I can see that police searched the home and find a large
- 49:31raincoat bawled up in a closet. They tested and find that it did have
- 49:37gunshot residu on the coat. Yeah, it's it was a blue coat,
- 49:40and it was that. It did look it looked like she was aiming,
- 49:44like it's a blue tarp like item. That's what it looked like. It
- 49:46was a big, old, long raincoat. And they find that, and
- 49:52yet it had had the gunshot residu like he had planned on wearing it and
- 49:57disposing it as its parents. They did get test for a gunshot like a
- 50:04first degree murder m like it's planned. Really now. Another witness that came
- 50:09to the stand for the prosecution was Maggie's sister Mary. Mary said that Maggie
- 50:15only went to Moselle that night because Alex asked her to because she had been
- 50:20staying at the beach house, which, like we said, is an hour
- 50:22and a half away. A few other main points they brought are the fact
- 50:27that he stated he tried to help Maggie and Paul and touched them and everything,
- 50:30yet he had completely clean hands and clean clothes. I mean there was
- 50:35blood. I mean, these people were shot multiple times and he ain't got
- 50:37nothing on him. Might be on the raincoat. Probably. Now they also
- 50:42have video of him saying I did him so bad. This is this is
- 50:45the quotes from the video when referencing what happened to Paul. Almost like a
- 50:51slip of the tongue, admitting to the murder. It's almost like that,
- 50:52what's the guy with the jinks? The oh, Robert Durst. Durst is
- 51:00in the bathroom. He didn't know who he was up. Yeah, he
- 51:04admitted to the murders. So anyways, he said I did him so bad.
- 51:08And so the final nell in the coffin was cell phone data showing Alex's
- 51:14movements that night, which showed that he had enough time to commit the murders,
- 51:17drive to his parents home, and then made it all the way back.
- 51:20Now, the prosecution had a final big win when they were allowed to
- 51:22present the financial crimes of Alex to the jury. They believe this was the
- 51:28reason behind the murders, and it was to build sympathy, and by time
- 51:31it was the reason he killed Paul and Maggie. He needed those two things
- 51:37like, oh my god, my wife and child just were murdered. Yeah,
- 51:40don't look at this, like let's just move on past this. But
- 51:45Yeah, it was. It was clear from the cell phone data he was.
- 51:47There was a whole thing. I don't I didn't put it all in
- 51:50here, but there was a whole thing about even like they had pinpointed him
- 51:53on the property in making like paces, they could time how fast he is
- 52:00walking based on this cell phone date. It was. It was pretty accurate
- 52:04or pretty detailed anyway. Yeah, drink. Yeah, so definitely they had
- 52:08the uh, the smoking gun with that one. The defense did argue that
- 52:15evidence at the scene was compromised due to a sloppy investigation. Now if there
- 52:20was no doubt, Now, if there was a sloppy investigation, as the
- 52:22prosecutor, I would say, I'm sure that that's the one that Alex murder
- 52:27I tried to purchase. Was a sloppy investigation because we know there's some some
- 52:30complicit members of the law enforcement in this area. Yeah, especially on the
- 52:37boat crash, I think less so on this well yeah, well, I
- 52:42mean, I mean, if you're whatever, if you're one of these these
- 52:47dirty sons of guns that let them take the the evidence, they let them
- 52:52take the boat off the scene. Yeah, just take take our prime evidence
- 52:57of the boat crash. The boat itself. The brother took the boat and
- 53:00hauling it out of here. Yea, yeah, I know, right right
- 53:01there with the cops watching and everything. Yeah. So I think a lot
- 53:05of them have been weeded out then and by the time this occurred. It
- 53:08was like on the video you can see where the cops say, oh,
- 53:12the Murdochs and they're like, we need to be on top of four ship.
- 53:15But there are still people within that that were close to the Murdochs and
- 53:21needed probably need to be removed. But it was a slopping investigation. They're
- 53:24just they just you get these cops, you get these big murder cases and
- 53:29these small towns. These cops don't they're not used to this. This isn't
- 53:31they're not in the middle of of like Washington, DC or something where it
- 53:36occurs all the time, these murders, and they're like, we need to
- 53:37be on top of things and keep a They just didn't. They just don't
- 53:43do it. They don't know. Yeah, they don't know whatever until like
- 53:46sled comes in they called Sled in and uh, of course they're more experience,
- 53:52they're more experienced. They're like, oh, you guys didn't do this
- 53:55right, and this right and we've already compromised evidence. But that was the
- 54:00lawyer's argument at that point. Now, there was a lack of investigation at
- 54:04the scene, including not taking fingerprints or check to check bathtubs and showers for
- 54:09blood from cleaning up after the crime. Well, that would have been at
- 54:13the parents house. I feel like the raincoat or one of the hound that
- 54:17could have checked all the two houses on the property. And yeah, they
- 54:22didn't check any of that to see if it had been if someone had cleaned
- 54:24themselves up. Yeah, they also found no blood evidence on him. They
- 54:30never recovered the murder weapons and all they had with circumstantial evidence. Now there
- 54:34is something with the weapons. I was watching. I didn't put it in
- 54:38here, but there. I was watching it because there's so much information around
- 54:42this. It's just, I mean, it's exhausting. I'll be honest with
- 54:45you people, it's just exhausting. The mount someone was like in the fluid
- 54:50drone over there and actually saw a buster and the grandpa I think, or
- 54:54one of the or the uncle carrying guns out and he was able to zoom
- 55:00in and see that it was one that might have been a shotgun in an
- 55:04aar well. They were removing a lot of gun. Yeah, they were
- 55:07removing a lot of things. They didn't know why. There were situations where
- 55:09Buster and the uncle were out in Vegas, like spending a bunch of money.
- 55:14It was almost like they were trying to like blow through the old guid
- 55:17in games. Yeah, there's a lot of things. We didn't put it
- 55:22all in here because, to be honest with you, it's just it's too
- 55:23much information. It's so much information. These people suck. That's all you
- 55:27need to know. Is that all I need to know all they know.
- 55:30After three episodes, we could have just said episode terrible and they suck now.
- 55:38Alex also had several witnesses come on his behalf to talk about his grief
- 55:44over the loss of his wife and child. Paul. Buster took the stand
- 55:50and defend his father, saying he was completely broken over their deaths. The
- 55:53final witness for Alex was Alex himself, and he chose to take the stand
- 56:00and defend themselves. Now this is where OJ chimed in. He said that
- 56:06Alex looked this up in the meantime. Yes, I did, like an
- 56:09hour ago, he or OJ. Yeah, OJ so that he couldn't believe
- 56:16that Alex was going to take the stand in his own defense because he was
- 56:20a known liar, and how is he gonna be on the stand for up
- 56:24to eight days without lying? And it was just like why O, why
- 56:29are you stepping into those didn't Oj take the stand in his own defense?
- 56:31Yes? Yes, And he also wrote a book called If I Did It?
- 56:36Well the family the family, there's a whole thing about the suit thing
- 56:40and they had he had to put if I did it, and he had
- 56:43to put the if really small And that's why it says I did it because
- 56:46the family like worked out a thing and said, look, you're going to
- 56:49make money off this, because they actually won the civil suit while they while
- 56:52he was um not convicted of the murders in a criminal in a you know,
- 56:58with the state and everything like a criminal suit, he was convicted in
- 57:01a civil suit based on the evidence. And so he wanted to release this
- 57:06book if If I Did It. And the family was like, Okay,
- 57:08if you're going to make money off this, it's gonna come to us.
- 57:10You're gonna put the if really really small, and you're gonna put I did
- 57:14It on the book cover. It was like a whole thing. So they
- 57:17got they. I mean he's still been paying them because he did lose that
- 57:21civil suit, like because it was obvious he killed, he was acquitted.
- 57:24He killed both of them, and then Casey Anthony, we're both acquitted.
- 57:30Yep. Alex spoke of his love for his wife and child and cried on
- 57:35the stand recalling how happy they were. The defense did ask him about lying
- 57:39to investigators about being at the kennels with Maggie and Paul, and he admits
- 57:45he lied, and he did this due to his pill addiction. Of course.
- 57:49Of course, he also admits a line to his clients and taking them
- 57:53their mother, their money, their mother, their money whatever. Well,
- 57:58he did take the Satterfields, Yeah, because of his pill addiction. Ye.
- 58:02His new story is that he was out at the kennels at around eight
- 58:07forty four pm to rescue a chicken. I mean, come on, come,
- 58:13is there any reason other be out the kennels than to rescue a chicken,
- 58:17A very beloved chicken, beloved house chicken. On. I mean,
- 58:22eggs are expensive even for rich people. Yes, so he's back. He's
- 58:28saying he's back at the main house at eight forty nine pm. So at
- 58:32eight forty four he's at the kennels, caught on tape on snapchat video rescuing
- 58:39a chicken or choking his chicken. Went on. Oh, and at eight
- 58:44forty nine, only a mere or five minutes later at the time of the
- 58:47murders. At the time of the murders, conveniently, he's back at he's
- 58:52away from he's away from so he's jumped on his golf cart for wheel or
- 58:54whatever, drove drove in a car. It was at a car. He
- 58:59drove back to the main house and he's back at the house by the time
- 59:01that they actually got murdered. And then and he said he didn't hear any
- 59:06of the gunshots, and that this is he decided this is when he was
- 59:08taking a nap, So he didn't take a nap at seven pm. He
- 59:12took a nap at eight forty nine pm and never heard anything. Yes,
- 59:16So the prosecution and defense presented closing arguments, and on March second, the
- 59:21jury went into deliberations. After just three hours, they found Alex Murdock guilty
- 59:27on four counts, two murder charges and two charges of possession of a weapon
- 59:30during a violent crime. I watched this one. I was into it at
- 59:35this point I was watching it on the yes, and you were calling man
- 59:37at work. Yeah, oh my god. Anyway, so he was sentenced
- 59:43to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of pearl. And now he is
- 59:46currently in jail awaiting trial for his financial crimes because remember he was charged with
- 59:52twenty seven financial crimes. So he's he's gonna appeal this obviously. I don't
- 59:58know if he'll get the appeal those do for for the dramas. Maybe I
- 1:00:02want it, you know, maybe I wanted Stu. Maybe I want him
- 1:00:05to get another trial. Just yes, yes, so I can hear him
- 1:00:08say Paul, Paul and all that whatever. So but yeah, that's where
- 1:00:13he's at. And uh, we'll see. It's it's always, it's ever
- 1:00:15changing. Buster could be in jail next. We don't know. He probably
- 1:00:19killed Stephen. We don't know. They're they're going to hume the bodies,
- 1:00:22both Gloria and Stephen. They're onto this family now that they're terrible human beings,
- 1:00:28all right, So that's our case for this case, the case for
- 1:00:32this case. Yeah, that sounds ridiculous. Anyways, do you have a
- 1:00:36y'all need Jesus or did you do your homework? Well, do you not
- 1:00:38want to tell him where Alex Murda is currently doing? Time don't love or
- 1:00:43something. I don't know where I've read something about it, like a club
- 1:00:45fed. He ain't doing like hard time where he's got to look over his
- 1:00:47shoulder when he's in the shower. Oh, it's like a cushion. Drop
- 1:00:52the soap in that lifestyle. I think he can drop the soap where he
- 1:00:55is. I mean, he might want to drop the soap. I don't
- 1:00:58know. We don't know. Okay, anyway, so you have a y'all
- 1:01:00need jesus. Yeah, But first, you know, remember I was telling
- 1:01:04you about Jersey last episode and that we had a listener in Jersey, and
- 1:01:08I was like, I was like, why are they breaking out the Jersey
- 1:01:12thing? Whenever you go to your your geographical data on where your listeners are
- 1:01:20coming from, I'm like, Jersey. Why are they breaking out Jersey separate
- 1:01:23from the United States? It just seems weird. They were It was like
- 1:01:28it was his own country or something. Okay, so I had to look
- 1:01:30it up. But I had to look it up, and it turns out
- 1:01:34Jersey is its own country. Do you mean? And we were right there.
- 1:01:37It's over in France. It's officially the Bailey Wick of Jersey and it's
- 1:01:43an island country and self governing British Crown dependency near the coast of northwest France.
- 1:01:51So we have a listener in someplace called Jersey, Jersey, which is
- 1:01:54an island in the Channel Islands off the coast of France. And we were
- 1:01:58close there when we were in Bay. You if we would have gone a
- 1:02:00little further. So this is a Jersey listener that's not from like New Jersey.
- 1:02:06Yeah, correct, did you? He's a Ginger. He's from Jersey.
- 1:02:09So it's not one of those Jersey people. Okay. Now, because
- 1:02:13we have more than one listeners, it's almost like Georgia the country versus Georgia
- 1:02:17the state, because I get those confused sometimes, do you all the time
- 1:02:22all the time? Okay, well that's cool. So we hear that one
- 1:02:27listener out in Jersey, France or whatever. Next time in France, will
- 1:02:30we'll stop by. We'll pop over to your aisland and see you get the
- 1:02:34passport damp? What the hell are there? Okay? I mean, I
- 1:02:37mean, do we get one that we got to go through customs? I
- 1:02:38don't know, I don't think so, Stuart. I think it's just part
- 1:02:42of Jersey. I mean France. I just tell you. I mean,
- 1:02:45if it was regular Jersey, you'd need tetanus shots for sure. Problem.
- 1:02:50Sorry, Jersey listeners, you know we love you immensely. It's like it's
- 1:02:55a ongoing joke about Jersey with us. So if you're new and from Jersey,
- 1:03:00don't be offended. You can't stand us now then whatever? All right,
- 1:03:04so let's do your goal need Jesus. Yeah, we got this coming
- 1:03:07in from mister boots and pants and boots and pants and boots and pants.
- 1:03:10Yeah, he's emailed at the proper time because we were recording this and I
- 1:03:15was like, hey, stude, someone made it found your Yeah, because
- 1:03:21it studs usually just like searched around. I'm annoyed. What are you talking
- 1:03:24about? Okay, come on, I'm ready to be done. Come on,
- 1:03:28let's do you not hurry me up? Because you remember last time,
- 1:03:30somebody was still listening and wanting to know about George Jones get on his lawnmower,
- 1:03:37and we didn't even get to what Whale and Jennings had to say.
- 1:03:38Okay, well, let's just finish. Let's just do this well you don't
- 1:03:42care because you say you like country music, but you don't like country music.
- 1:03:45You told me that Keith Urban was a country music I never said that.
- 1:03:51Come on, Stewart, you like Keith Urban, I I do like
- 1:03:53Keithting, but get the funk on with it. Woman arrested after allegedly running
- 1:04:00onto an Arizona tarmac to stop a missed flight. Now, this seems like
- 1:04:05something you should do if you're about to miss your flight. If it's de
- 1:04:10Fiji, sure well you're still not getting the Fiji, so I would not
- 1:04:15suggest doing this even if your flight is to Fiji. A woman was arrested
- 1:04:18in Phoenix. Okay, this is coming nat Us from twelve twenty nine,
- 1:04:23twenty one. Let's get that straight. A woman was arrested in Phoenix on
- 1:04:28Sunday after allegedly running onto an airport tarmac then an attempt to stop a plane
- 1:04:33that was about to take off without her. The woman was identified by Phoenix
- 1:04:39police is fifty three year old Vicky Myers. Fifty three, yeah, get
- 1:04:44your shit together. Twenty five year old but not over Yeah, a drunk
- 1:04:48twenty four year old be like, oh shit, shit's going to cane gonna
- 1:04:53be on the spring break flight. No, this is a fifty three year
- 1:04:56old woman. You know where she's going. This is a be even worse
- 1:05:00when I tell you where she's going. Now Myers Jersey, is it?
- 1:05:04It might be. She was arrested at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport after she
- 1:05:10allegedly late for a scheduled flight and entered a secure area of the airport.
- 1:05:15Now, court documents reviewed by Phoenix Base blah Blah identified that area blah blah
- 1:05:20signs and at least two languages that warned members of the public against trespassing were
- 1:05:26visible. Are that you're not supposed to run on the Tormac's plane down.
- 1:05:30I mean, it doesn't matter how many languages. And I don't we all
- 1:05:32know this is Yeah, there's a red circle with a slash throat like do
- 1:05:35not enter. Yeah, but it's not a language issue, it's a dumbass
- 1:05:40re issue. Yes, So she allegedly entered the restricted area. Staff at
- 1:05:45the airport made immediate contact with her, and they called law enforcement to assist
- 1:05:49in their efforts. Where is she going? Oh? Where was she going?
- 1:05:56Yeah? You told me you were like you never believe where she's going?
- 1:05:58And I was like okay, and you're like, well, it wasn't
- 1:06:01it wasn't. Well, let me get there. I gotta keep you on.
- 1:06:08You know, you know how you keep her a rocal assholes and suspense.
- 1:06:12I'll tell you later. You know what story? You don't know what
- 1:06:15you're doing. And that's the only reason I'm in suspense because you don't know
- 1:06:18the story. Yeah, I know the story. Now you gotta pop up
- 1:06:25blocking you're reading. I just saw that cookie you didn't see. I saw
- 1:06:30that cookie pop up in like block your view of being able to read the
- 1:06:34story. Anyways, she went out the emergency exit doors on a guitar.
- 1:06:42Max started arguing with ground crew as to why she should be allowed to try
- 1:06:45and stop the point. Okay, do you want to fill the air?
- 1:06:51Why you? Um yes, I want to start talking, um so m
- 1:07:00m hmm yeahs. And a lion walk into a bar. No no,
- 1:07:09no, it's an imam a priest and a rabbit walk into a bar.
- 1:07:15Okay, all right, And the bartender says what do you have? And
- 1:07:17the rabbit says, I don't know. I'm just here because of the fucking
- 1:07:19auto correct because he's a rabbit. Oh my god. Yeah, she was
- 1:07:31going to Saint Louis Moss so stupid. Okay, Saint Louis, that's not
- 1:07:34that bad. No, the golden arches, there's the McDonald's. Oh my
- 1:07:39god, we're gonna get a letter again. And there's some arches or something
- 1:07:42there. There's a the Saint Louis Arches. Okay, yes, yes,
- 1:07:45it isn't congratulations on making a giant McDonald's. But whatever, it's only one
- 1:07:49of the arch Okay. So you couldn't even finish the arch arches. Yeah,
- 1:07:55well they didn't paint in gold either, so I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:07:57So I mean, okay, we're gonna get a letter. I'm sure
- 1:08:00we'll get a letter. But evidently you can go to the top and look
- 1:08:03out. Well, so you can. You can do that at the Sydney
- 1:08:05Bridge, Stewart, would you You wouldn't even climb up there though, No,
