- 0:00Sallallahu, Alaika, Abdullah, Smillah, Rahman Rahim, brothers
- 0:04and sisters, wherever you are watching and listening from
- 0:06around the world, the Salaam Alaikum war, Ahmed Allahi, well
- 0:09Barakatu, and welcome back to another episode here on your
- 0:12favorite podcast after Maghrib. Now, last week, we were all
- 0:16celebrating the magnanimous, joyous celebration of Idol
- 0:20Radir, Idol Al Akbar. And we're only a few days away
- 0:25from the sorrowful month of Muharram, Muharram and Haram,
- 0:28where hundreds of millions of Muslims all around the world
- 0:31gather and mourn and remember and recall the tragedy and the
- 0:36massacre that took place on the 10th of Muharram, the day of
- 0:39Ashwara and the holy city of Karbala.
- 0:42So brothers and sisters, there's a lot of upcoming conversations
- 0:45we're going to have over the month of Muharram and Safar and
- 0:47Sha Allah, each and every single episode will be one that not
- 0:50just benefits you, but uplifts and motivates and inspires us to
- 0:54continue to understand Imam al Hussain, Imam al Mehdi and Allah
- 0:59subhanahu Atta Allah, not just for you, but for myself and
- 1:01Ahmed and for everyone here after Maharaj bin Shah Allah.
- 1:05Now in this discussion today, we want to have like an
- 1:08introduction to the holy month and the sorrowful month of
- 1:12Muharram, where of course, there are many emotions, there are
- 1:15many reflections. And there are many moments where
- 1:18over the last few years here after Muslim, we've been
- 1:21inspired by guests, We've been inspired by messages that you
- 1:24have sent in via e-mail or via Instagram, direct messaging,
- 1:27whatever it may be, it shapes our conversations.
- 1:30And this year, Rashad Allah is no different.
- 1:32And these conversations, as I always say, I can't have them
- 1:36alone. They're done by my Hosseini
- 1:38brother alongside my Hosseini brother, and that's none other
- 1:41than Ahmed Gokul Habibi as Salam Ali.
- 1:53I want to. Shake your hands.
- 1:56How you doing bro? Hamdallah, I'm well.
- 1:59How are you, Hamdallah? Hamdallah, are you feeling I'm?
- 2:03OK, Al Hamdallah. I'm OK.
- 2:07Life is good, Hamdallah. Can't complain.
- 2:10We are. Thank you for the introduction.
- 2:12I think I couldn't have done it any better.
- 2:14You know, you always say I can't have these conversations alone.
- 2:17It's true. Can.
- 2:17No, no, no. It's very true, honestly.
- 2:20But look, I think just to echo your words said we are now
- 2:24Hamdullah in our fifth year at Arthur Maghreb, entering our
- 2:30fifth season of, of the holy month of Mahabharam.
- 2:34And I just wanted to thank all of you at home on behalf of the
- 2:37aftermarket team myself, said Ali.
- 2:39So much by the whole team and really appreciate the kind of
- 2:44the, like I said, Ali said, all the feedback you've given us,
- 2:46all of the, the growth that we've had, the conversations
- 2:49we've had. And I'm sure if you've been
- 2:51following the journey from the beginning, you'll know that we
- 2:54have been on a journey to learn more, develop our own skills,
- 2:57our own knowledge and wisdom through the texture, the text
- 3:00that we read, the literature, the the scholars and the
- 3:03conversations that we have in Hamdullah.
- 3:05And I think this year, inshallah will be no different.
- 3:07I think our, our goal, our aim is to enter this blessed month
- 3:12with the right mindset, Inshallah, to make it as
- 3:14meaningful as possible. We thank Allah for the
- 3:17opportunity to to enter the month again and to be able to
- 3:20mourn for Abdullah Hussein Ali Salaam.
- 3:24That in itself is an honour the the grace of being able to shed
- 3:29a tear, to spend a moment to reflect on his life, his legacy,
- 3:35his mission, the trials and the the sort of efforts that he, his
- 3:42family, his companions went through.
- 3:44Now, if you're new to Aftermarket Abra and sisters,
- 3:46you will quickly realise that we are a Shia podcast and we're
- 3:51proud of that. We're very unapologetic and we
- 3:53recognise that a core part of our identity as Muslims and as
- 3:58Shia is the fact that Imam Hussein Alaihi Salaam, our third
- 4:03Holy Imam of the Albeit, is central to our ideology and
- 4:09central to how we not only understand religion, but how we
- 4:12live our day-to-day lives. Everything from the interaction
- 4:17we have with our friends and our families, to the way we stand up
- 4:21against depression in the modern day we live in, to the way we
- 4:25treat colleagues and peers and people we come across in
- 4:28day-to-day life. And even to the point of the way
- 4:31we communicate with our last panel.
- 4:33To Allah, the dicker that we do of our last pan to Allah, the
- 4:36Ibadah that we do to our last pan, to Allah.
- 4:38All of these day-to-day interactions are shaped
- 4:42fundamentally by the etiquettes, the Akhlakhyat that are taught
- 4:47to us by the Alibait Ayyam Salaam, many of whom and I say
- 4:52many of whom in terms of the AL debate.
- 4:54Much of these traditions can be found from members who were
- 4:58present in the battle of Karbala and Mohammed Hussain Ali Salaam,
- 5:02Imam Saljad Ali Salaam and Mohammed Bakar Ali Salam, 3
- 5:06generations of the AIM Ali Musalam who were present and
- 5:10witnessing what we see to be the most monumental event across the
- 5:17course of history. Now, before I ask you my first
- 5:19question, saying, I just want to make a point that a lot of the
- 5:24time we hear that the battle of Karbala in and of itself was a
- 5:31sad event, politically driven. We heard an incredible dialogue
- 5:36before kind of two or three weeks ago between Sheikh Mehdi
- 5:41Rastani and Sheikh Yasukadi, which was very, very, very good.
- 5:46And I applaud Sheikh Mehdi and the community for being able to
- 5:51put this together and I really appreciated it.
- 5:53I think both of the scholars spoke very well and it was a
- 5:58good start to kind of dialogue. One point that was made by
- 6:01Sheikh Yasukadi, of course, represents that discussion.
- 6:04At least he mentioned that the death of Mohammed Hussein is a
- 6:08tragedy. In his words, he says we
- 6:11recognize it, we speak on it, we love the Attle Bait, we love
- 6:14Imam Hussein. However, he said that the
- 6:17greater tragedy theologically is, for example, the death of
- 6:22Othman or the death of Mira Mamani in Imam Ali Ali Salaam.
- 6:25But the death of Imam Hussein was not a theological tragedy.
- 6:28It's like a political or a social tragedy, not really a
- 6:31spiritual tragedy. I think that's a key
- 6:34differentiation between the Sunni and the Shia.
- 6:36The fact that we see Imam Hussein sacrifice as something
- 6:40which is theologically defining. You're spilling the blood of the
- 6:44Hodja on earth, Allah's chosen representative on earth.
- 6:49Of course, to us as the Shia, Imam Hussein represented that
- 6:52position and that role. Therefore we see the tragedy of
- 6:55Imam Hussein, not just how he was killed or how many were
- 6:59killed or the manner he was killed.
- 7:01The main issue is who was killed, that the fact that the
- 7:07one who was named a part of the Holy Prophet Muhammad,
- 7:11Sallallahu Alaihi and Rasallah said Hussein a Mini Wah and Amin
- 7:15al Hussein, he is from the Holy Prophet and the Holy Prophet is
- 7:19from him. That he was slain in such a way
- 7:24after such torment in and of itself is a tragedy.
- 7:30So I feel like there's a lot to talk about today.
- 7:33I just wanted to kind of get a few things off my chest, but I
- 7:39wanted to ask you kind of every year we enter this month, we
- 7:42have this conversation the last week before the 1st of Mahadram.
- 7:47How do you kind of feel at this point in time?
- 7:48What goes through your mind? How do you prepare?
- 7:52How do you Do you have to actively get into the mood of
- 7:57Mahadram or is this something which happens naturally for you
- 8:00you? Know Subhan Allah as you were
- 8:05saying all of this. I don't know if it's the right
- 8:07word, but I have. Goosebumps.
- 8:09Bro, no, I feel like there was a tightening here like on the
- 8:12chest. I just remembering like the
- 8:14tragedy of Karbala and the Mossad and the massacres that
- 8:17took place. It's not something easy, you
- 8:20know it's it's hard, it's heavy and it affects everyone in in in
- 8:25their own way. Yanni and you just mentioning
- 8:28now you mentioned that hadith by Rasul Allah, you said Hussain
- 8:31and Minu and Ahmed Hussain. It's as if I was just like
- 8:35picturing it now as you were saying.
- 8:36It's as if when they attacked, say the Shahada Salaam Allah,
- 8:41they were attacking Rasul Allah himself.
- 8:42Of course, of course. So when he says Hussein is from
- 8:45me and I am from Hussein, it's like when you hurt him, when you
- 8:48attack him, when you slaughter him, when you parade his head,
- 8:52when you trample on his body with the horses hooves.
- 8:54You are doing this to Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alayhi was
- 8:57saying. So it hits hard.
- 8:59Yeah. And it hits home.
- 9:00And I, and I think it's, it's the tragedy that keeps us, keeps
- 9:03you, keeps me, keeps the team, keeps our listeners all around
- 9:06the world alive, bro. It revives us and it brings us
- 9:10together and it allows us to understand what is, what is,
- 9:13what is the, what the Umar is all about.
- 9:15It's about this. It's about and you, you talk
- 9:17about, for example, in the Sunni world, we say, for example, to
- 9:20them, it's a tragedy that took place and it ends there.
- 9:22They say rather than Allahu and move on.
- 9:24No, like what? There was a mission behind it.
- 9:27It was God's mission. Yani Imam was saying, what was
- 9:29he doing? Just Yani Ichi had nothing else
- 9:32to do and just went to Karbalan and went to beef with the Caliph
- 9:37of the time of the Muslim Mano bro.
- 9:39There was a godly mission behind this and not just that, he was
- 9:43there to revive and restore the teachings of his grandfather.
- 9:46Also Allah Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
- 9:49I'm all over the place right now, like 1 inside.
- 9:51Where do you begin? I don't know where to start.
- 9:53It's it's a heavy topic, but but I think we should all start
- 9:57within ourselves. And this is a month where
- 10:00similar to the holy month of Ramadan where we turn to Allah,
- 10:04Subhanahu, Qatar, Allah, or we turn to the Quran, where we turn
- 10:07to the supplications and the Amal, the Al Qaeda.
- 10:10This is no different. Accent.
- 10:11Muharram's not a strange month to us.
- 10:13Yeah. And if we, you know, we, we, we
- 10:16say we hold on to the Thakalain, the Quran and Elbeit, we have
- 10:19Ramadan and we have Muharram. This is this is both for us.
- 10:23And Imam Hussain means the world to us, Ahmed.
- 10:24Do you mean in the point of like the Ibadat and the Dekal Quran?
- 10:29And is that what you mean in terms of the way we?
- 10:32Because you know, it's interesting you mentioned that
- 10:33today I heard something. There's two things which.
- 10:35Come, people think all we do is Azar and more knows much more to
- 10:39it. Well, yeah.
- 10:40You know, it's interesting, Yeah.
- 10:42There's a hadith from Imam and other Ali Salaam where he said
- 10:48and you know Imam and other Ali Salaam, all the Imams like
- 10:52always paid homage to their grandfather, Imam and Hussein
- 10:55and Islam. But Imam and other we know at
- 10:57the time of his death, he laid on the floor and said I want to
- 10:59feel the pain of my grandfather about Abdullah Ali Salaam.
- 11:03But one thing he mentioned in his lifetime which is profound,
- 11:07he said do not forego your good deeds and your ebadat and your
- 11:13supplication just because you have love of the albeit love of
- 11:16us in your heart. And likewise, do not forego the
- 11:20love you have for us just because you're doing good deeds.
- 11:24Yeah, and it's not enough to love us and abandon all your
- 11:27wajibat must habat as well. Likewise, it's not enough to do
- 11:31your wajibat must habat but have no love for us.
- 11:35So my own, I don't want to say advice because I'm not someone
- 11:41to give advice. I am a flawed individual and I.
- 11:45OK, put it this way as a reminder to yourself.
- 11:47A reminder to myself and also, I think like a reflection on the
- 11:51few years I've had learning or studying or even just kind of
- 11:55trying to act like a sponge of the wisdom from the Olama we've
- 11:58spoken to in the books we've read.
- 12:00Something small I think we should do or I should do is #1
- 12:05begin the holy month with a clear cut understanding as to
- 12:11why Imam Al Hussain did what he did, why he had to do what he
- 12:18did, and also the conditions of society at the time of the
- 12:23battle and prior. Because a lot of the time we
- 12:25begin and we feel like the story begins when the man Hussein
- 12:29arrives in Karbala or even, for example, the death of his cousin
- 12:33has a Muslim Ali Salaam. It begins much prior to that.
- 12:38You know, you can trace it back to, you know, the, the like the
- 12:44lifetime of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alewale when he, you
- 12:47know, there's so many examples. We can go on and on and on.
- 12:50When he gets the sand from Karbala, he gives it to to Umm
- 12:54Salim Alayhi Salaam. And there's so many stories in
- 12:57the life where he prophesizes Karabala, where he kissed, where
- 13:00he kisses Imam Hussein and he he, he where Jibrail will tell
- 13:04him this is what the prophecy is of your grants.
- 13:07There's so many examples, say the Fatima, Amin, Ammani and
- 13:10Imam has, but I want to ask you. Yeah.
- 13:12What was the condition of the Ummah in the years prior, let's
- 13:20say two or three years latter end of Maria's life, beginning
- 13:24of Yazid Caliphate? What was it like at the time?
- 13:27What was the mood in society 50 years after the death of the
- 13:30Holy Prophet? Yeah, yeah.
- 13:32I don't think I'll be able to answer that question in depth,
- 13:37but I can say from the little that I know and understand is
- 13:42that during the time of after Emir al Mumni aye Salaam, you
- 13:45know, attaining martyrdom hasn't taken over Mark Hussein being
- 13:49alive at the same time as his brother.
- 13:51There was this, this, this, this immense hatred towards the
- 13:55edelbate that existed. And there was this love for
- 13:58dunya. And you know, the Quran speaks
- 14:00about there are two types of people, you know, those who have
- 14:04love for the dunya and those who have no love for the dunya in
- 14:07the next life, right? So people were far away from
- 14:10God, people were far away from the son of Rasul Allah, Muhammad
- 14:13sallallahu alaihi Wali wasallam. And I don't think people
- 14:16understood the position and the status of the ehrlabet.
- 14:19It's as if Rasul Allah left his dunya left this world and that's
- 14:24it. Life went back to normal.
- 14:26People didn't care about the Ahara.
- 14:29People didn't go to seek power because they wanted to empower
- 14:32and better the Omano. They don't have for self gain,
- 14:34they want the a lot of tragedies took place, a lot of wars took
- 14:37place, a lot of oppression and justice, abuse of authority and
- 14:42abuse of so many things all upside down beyond the Mahayas
- 14:46reign or Yazid's reign. And we see some of these
- 14:49examples still living today. But just to stick in that time
- 14:52period, I'll go back to the days of Rasallah sallallahu alaihi
- 14:56Wali wasallam like you mentioned him prophesizing Karbala and the
- 15:00tragedy of Ashura. There was a time where as panel,
- 15:05I read this 2 days ago, there was a time you can find this in
- 15:08the Bihar Al Anwar, where the prophet was in the mosque, Rasul
- 15:14Allah was in the mosque and he was speaking to his congregation
- 15:16in the Masjid. And then he mentioned again,
- 15:21what will happen to you, Muhammad Hussein?
- 15:22Like if you look in history nicely, deeply, when you sit
- 15:25down, you find a lot of prophecies about the 10th of
- 15:29Muharram and he speaks about what will happen to his grandson
- 15:32and he says, you know, is it enough just to cry?
- 15:37It's like he's asking the people there, he told us it that as he
- 15:40was talking, the congregation was crying and he was like, is
- 15:44it enough just to cry or will you stand support and aid him?
- 15:48Like there was that rhetorical question the prophet gave at the
- 15:51time of his time to his congregation and the mosque.
- 15:55And the narration says, well, that General Masuduka Bilbuka,
- 15:58like the mosque start shaking from from from crying.
- 16:03So there was there was this happening during the time of the
- 16:05prophet where he was giving like hints that crying is not enough.
- 16:10Are you understand and support man?
- 16:12You understand like when? You same as what we, I mean we
- 16:15can say that about today. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:17And even beyond that, when I came across that and I was
- 16:20thinking why did I not think of it that way as well.
- 16:23I mean that is not just limited to that specific time, it's
- 16:28every single time. And then you come across the The
- 16:30thing is, if we don't make our self familiar with for examples,
- 16:34Yard Ashura, how are we going to tell the difference between
- 16:38right and wrong? For example, how are we going to
- 16:40tell the difference that, for example, Karbala is not just
- 16:42limited to the plains of Karbala or the to the 10th of Muharram?
- 16:46No, it's beyond because for example, we read the lines and
- 16:49the salmon Nim and Salim akum wah harbun Nim and Harabakum
- 16:52till when Ilaiyama, right. Yeah, so syllable Lehman Salim
- 16:59akum harbum, Lehman Haram akum didn't end on the plains of
- 17:03Karbala, right? It's until the day of judgement
- 17:05and people think, you know, how like how is that even possible?
- 17:08The battle took place, Imam and Hussain was martyred, his
- 17:11companions, his family members, etcetera.
- 17:14And then we come and look at things with Imam and Mehdi, the
- 17:18Ali, Farhat Al Hussain. There's a continuation, right?
- 17:22And then beyond that, when Imam and Hussain, you know, rejects
- 17:27given baya to Yazid where he says mithilai baiya al Mithlay,
- 17:31he could have used the simple terms.
- 17:33I, Imam al Hussain, do not give allegiance to Yazid.
- 17:37But he said may someone like me will not give allegiance to
- 17:42someone like him. So that means it's it's forever.
- 17:46Yeah. Now when we say ilaya malhiyama,
- 17:49this is it. And if you, if you say you love
- 17:52Imam al Hussain, you have his principles.
- 17:54You have his morals, his values. You can never, you know, fall
- 17:59trap to this, to this, to these people.
- 18:02So there is, I think, some depth that we have to look in our
- 18:05hearts, in our minds and give some clarity that Karbala is not
- 18:09just Karbala. It's continuous, it's from them
- 18:12and it will remain until the day of.
- 18:13Justice, this is it, man. This is it.
- 18:15Like this is. There's so many, there's a
- 18:17million and one points that I have to to mention.
- 18:19We just need to collect the dots, you know, and it all comes
- 18:22together. This is it.
- 18:23So panel there's a perfect symmetry with Karbala.
- 18:26Like it's so poetic the way when we look at the Kava and the
- 18:31Kadra Valas Pantala and his will and the way he implements his
- 18:35will and kind of the, like I said, the perfect symmetry that
- 18:40Allah has given to the whole saga of mankind and the Adul
- 18:46Beit Alehemo Salaam. We recognize that everything is
- 18:49very cyclical. The final trial of mankind is
- 18:53the Lord of the Imam and the Rajah.
- 18:55And we know this, right? And that all comes back to Imam
- 18:58Hussein. Imam Hussein's mission, he bases
- 19:02it on godliness and of course, reforming the community, The
- 19:06Omati Jadira Sallallah, right? As you said, it's lahidin.
- 19:10So this is so important. Now, a couple of things that
- 19:13come to mind. Firstly, just off the back of
- 19:15what you said, when we say, and we know where there was a whole
- 19:19period where this was debunked as a hadith, not we know, we now
- 19:22know there's not hadith. Every day, every day is our
- 19:27shala. Every day we know that
- 19:29disclaimer. If you think it's hadith, it's
- 19:31not hadith. OK However, and I know some
- 19:34people still see it as controversial, contentious.
- 19:37There is truth to it. There's a there's a truth to it,
- 19:39right? We're not saying we know what
- 19:42Imam hasn't said. There's no day like your day or
- 19:45oh, oh Hussein. However, like you said, when
- 19:49Imam Hussein is, there's a man like me.
- 19:51He can never give Behr to a man like him when he's speaking to
- 19:54Walidim in Udba on the night of Maharia's death, right?
- 19:59He's setting a precedent right for permanent.
- 20:03Generations rule, yeah. For all of mankind, eternity.
- 20:05Yeah, when he says, for example, prior to that, let's go rewind
- 20:11in the towards the end of the life of Maharia and my people
- 20:14think Imam Hussein was like silent, quiet up until Yazid
- 20:18Maharia dying. Yazid came in broke look in the
- 20:20life of Maharia in the year, I don't know what it was probably
- 20:255859. AH, roughly.
- 20:27So before Karbala by a couple of years.
- 20:30Imam Hussein Ali Salaam spoke in Mina at the sermon in sermon of
- 20:35Mina. It's known hot, but Mina, it's a
- 20:36very well known sermon. Go and research it.
- 20:38Incredible. Like when I read it a couple of
- 20:40weeks ago, fully in depth, fully open my eyes up.
- 20:44Like we read passages, we've read statements across the
- 20:46years. People politicize it now because
- 20:49it's got a very politically heavy context.
- 20:52But let me kind of summarize it like this, OK?
- 20:57And Mama was saying that Islam basically comes out, and he
- 20:59tells the people that there's a big problem, we need to fix it.
- 21:04Yeah. OK.
- 21:05And I'm going to summarize and paraphrase his holy words.
- 21:07He first criticizes the scholars.
- 21:11He says you guys hold a position of authority, You walk the
- 21:15streets and people respect you and you have an incumbency to
- 21:19perform Amrabel Maharoof Wanahin and Munkar to enjoy good and
- 21:24forbid evil. He then says, but you didn't do
- 21:27that. Like you have forgone your
- 21:31responsibility of Amrabel Maharoof.
- 21:33You've not enjoying the good and you've not forbidden the evil.
- 21:38And therefore, in these governmental positions or
- 21:41positions of authority within the community where you should
- 21:44not only set an example, but you should lead by example, you have
- 21:48not done so. And as a result of that, society
- 21:52has become lackadaisical. They just lacked poverty.
- 21:57He repeatedly talks about poverty and injustice, the weak,
- 22:00the rights of the oppressed. This is so important.
- 22:03The Imam is consistently talking about social justice.
- 22:06He's saying that people are suffering and the scholars had a
- 22:10responsibility to do something. They didn't take up positions,
- 22:13they didn't speak up. And therefore, as a result,
- 22:17religion has become worthless. It's become something which is
- 22:21like a slogan. He says that the substance and
- 22:24the soul of religion has gone and now it's just being used as
- 22:29a weapon or as a leverage tool for positions of fame and power.
- 22:34And he repeatedly talks about this.
- 22:35He talks about how those in places of power are leveraging
- 22:39religion for their own usage and their own benefit.
- 22:42He talks about how people in positions of power are going
- 22:45back to the the kind of the teachings of Abu Safian and Abu
- 22:53Lahab and all the Jahiliya that we've seen pre Islam.
- 22:56And a lot of these things which were now ostracized from Islamic
- 23:01communities are now being kind of brought back in.
- 23:05So when he talks about this, he then takes a shot of the
- 23:07scholars and in essence, you start to see the beginning of
- 23:10the Imam's message. Then, of course, you Fast
- 23:12forward on the night of Mahariya's passing.
- 23:16Mahariya's died, right? Yazid wants to claim allegiance.
- 23:23Yazid sends a message to Walid Ibn Ottba, who's in Medina.
- 23:29He says I need allegiance from from three people obeyed Alab in
- 23:33Omar, obeyed Allahab Nimh Zubair and Imam Hussein.
- 23:37This time, he says these three people get their allegiance.
- 23:39Walid's like, how do I do this? He consults Marwan Abdul Hakim,
- 23:42who we know of course is a horrendous figure.
- 23:46And of course, not just at that time but also after he was
- 23:48obviously appointed governor of Medina by by Maharia, if I'm not
- 23:54mistaken. So Imam Hussein receives a
- 23:59message at the mosque saying Waleed wants to speak to you.
- 24:02He says, I think Maharia has died.
- 24:05He goes last night I had a dream was what Imam Hussein says.
- 24:08He says, I had a dream last night that the member of Maharia
- 24:11was set ablaze and fell on the floor toppled amazing, you know,
- 24:15solid. So he goes to the court of
- 24:17Walid. Walid's talking that we know.
- 24:19Obviously I don't want to go into in detail.
- 24:21Imam goes in. He takes 20 people with him,
- 24:23armed supporters including Abu, father Aaliyah, Salaam.
- 24:26He goes in. He says this line, a man like me
- 24:30will never give allegiance to a man like him.
- 24:32He then says, look, you want my allegiance.
- 24:34He says he give it to me now this time of night, otherwise
- 24:37you're never leaving here alive. Imam says you want my allegiance
- 24:40so the people can see it or you want it for God.
- 24:42He says no, I want the people to see that you're giving
- 24:44allegiance to Yazid. He goes why are you getting me
- 24:46to give it now? Get get me to give it in public
- 24:48in daylight. He says you know what, you make
- 24:51a fairpoint. Imam left and he started
- 24:54planning his next steps. This is how Karbala began.
- 24:58Karbala began, and this is what I think is so important for all
- 25:01of us at this time of year. The days entering the first
- 25:04night of Muharram and even the first few days before Ashura, we
- 25:07should start to think about why did the mum Hussein do what he
- 25:09had to do? Why was it so important that he
- 25:12left at that time? Why did he take his family and
- 25:16his companions? Why did he divert from Kufa
- 25:19towards Karbala? And then more importantly, are
- 25:22there any commonalities between what a mum Hussein complained
- 25:26about then whether it's the scholars, the mutt Mineen,
- 25:30whether it's people abusing positions of power, anything
- 25:35from then until now? Of course, there is like you
- 25:38look around the world today, there is an immense need for
- 25:42that justice and kind of that resolution.
- 25:47So sorry, yeah, to go on a bit of a monologue, but I, I like, I
- 25:51just, I really feel like there's no point entering these blessed
- 25:55months. Alhadam must suffer without like
- 25:58a concrete understanding as to what we doing here.
- 26:01Do you know what I mean? No, it's very true.
- 26:03And and you know, thank you for mentioning all of that.
- 26:05Forgive me bro. La La, la, you, you, you.
- 26:08You bro, I've spoken so long they haven't even switched
- 26:09camera. They've fallen asleep on my
- 26:10shop. You've dropped a lot of gems,
- 26:13Marshall. I see that it's you can give 10
- 26:16nights lectures on Moharam Inshallah one day.
- 26:17No chance, No chance for no chance.
- 26:19You're the grandson of 1. Alex, I love from you brother,
- 26:24but you know, upon like reflection, I, I think we
- 26:28focused a lot about this saying no to Yazid with Bayar, right?
- 26:31Yeah. There's a lot to learn from it.
- 26:33Because if you think about it, Imam and Hussain could have said
- 26:38yeah, shook hands and made a deal or whatever you want to
- 26:42call it, and life would be good, right?
- 26:44But he was comfortable and being uncomfortable.
- 26:48OK, let me ask you a. Question.
- 26:49He had gone. Please.
- 26:50Gone. Common question that we get a
- 26:54lot of the time. Why did Omar Hussein not just
- 26:57say yes to Yazid and give his allegiance?
- 27:04You're saying that it would have been more convenient of him?
- 27:07Yeah, and it would be easy to say yes.
- 27:10And, you know, you rule the Muslims that follow you and
- 27:13listen to you and. But no, there's a bigger
- 27:15picture. I play Ahmed.
- 27:17Yeah. I mean, if, if that incident
- 27:19that took place on the 10th of Muharram is alive today, it
- 27:23proves that saying no then was worth it.
- 27:28Because if he never said no and I don't ever doubt he had any
- 27:34other answer in his in his, you know, at play with the I don't
- 27:40use the wrong terminology. But had he said no, had he said
- 27:45yes to the Bayer and given said yes, I'll do Bayer and whatnot.
- 27:48I don't think today we will understand right from wrong.
- 27:51That's one that's on one level the difference between justice
- 27:55and injustice because now it's a muddy mixed world.
- 27:58People can excuse tyrannical powers today and say, ah, this
- 28:04defence, some are of self defence and from that.
- 28:07So there's a lot to learn from and a lot of lessons that we can
- 28:09take from there that keep us who we are as Muslims man.
- 28:13And if we talk about values and principles, if he didn't say no,
- 28:16we have no values and principles.
- 28:18Look at the other Muslims in the world today that don't take Imam
- 28:22Hussein as the imam in positions of power.
- 28:27What is the difference between? I asked this question, what is
- 28:29the difference between them and Yazid bin Malia?
- 28:33They're happy with it, bro. They don't mind.
- 28:35They sleep fine. They eat the best of foods, they
- 28:38drink the best of drinks. They have the best of palaces.
- 28:42What else do they want? They have this dunya, that's
- 28:44what Yazid. But, but if I go back to the
- 28:46point, Imam Hussein was comfortable and being
- 28:49uncomfortable because of the bigger picture, and this is what
- 28:52I think me, you and everyone come into play and and the
- 28:55equation here is that we should also be on that level. 100%.
- 28:59Because if we don't say no to certain things and this dunya,
- 29:03yes, it's not on the same level as what Imam Hussein faced.
- 29:06But if we can't say no to anything at the workplace, at
- 29:09home, I don't know. Wherever it may be to things
- 29:11that take us away from God, essentially there's no
- 29:15difference between US and being Yazid.
- 29:17Like if I can use that term, I don't know if I've gone away.
- 29:21From I agree with you, the other thing as well is on that is like
- 29:24he said, if had he not said yes to Yazid sorry let me rephrase
- 29:29that. If he had said yes to Yazid and
- 29:31gave his allegiance to Yazid, like you said, the lines would
- 29:34be blurred between oppression and and injustice, oppression
- 29:37and and truth and justice as well as all kind of the other
- 29:42points you made additionally to that as well.
- 29:44It's like bro, the admission of Imam Hussein to Yazid, had he
- 29:51done that would in and of itself is like it's a false question or
- 29:56it's a false narrative. Can't even comprehend this
- 29:59because the Imam on repeated occasions talks about the
- 30:02Makamat of the other debate. I am Saddam as those who are
- 30:06chosen by our last Pantala. He even says from our Ruda Wyatt
- 30:12that Allah began Islam through us and he will end Islam through
- 30:18us and he says that we are from noble birth, noble lineage and
- 30:23we have attained these attributes through our actions
- 30:26and so on and so forth. He talks about the Mukam that
- 30:29they hold from a theological point of view, the Imam who
- 30:33believes that he is the Hajja of Allah.
- 30:36Phil Arab will never stoop below someone who is violating that.
- 30:43And if he did that, he would have been compromised in being
- 30:46able to perform his rights as an Imam.
- 30:50And it's very different to Imam Mahmanin and the 30 years where
- 30:52he was not the public caliph, as we say repeatedly, like
- 30:56obviously he was Al Khalifa. But it's very different.
- 30:59And inshallah, one day we can do a proper discussion on that.
- 31:01What's the difference between Imam Ali staying it's quote UN
- 31:05quote quiet or silent and Imam Hussein choosing not to remain
- 31:09silent? Because I think that's a great
- 31:10question, but that's that's a that's a very interesting.
- 31:13I like. Interesting and justify.
- 31:16Let's go back onto it just just for a moment.
- 31:18The the very fact he said no bro, it's it should be easy for
- 31:24us to say no to anything, to temptation, to desire, to Haram,
- 31:29to peer pressure. And it's not just limited to
- 31:31mourning and Azar remembering a debate.
- 31:33No, that no should be known to any Haram in this world, really.
- 31:37At home, at school, at work, because we get lost.
- 31:42And thanks to Muharram, and I say this all pasai and we're
- 31:45lucky, Ashiya Ahmed. Well, well, we're lucky.
- 31:48And Hamdullah, it's a blessing from Allah that we don't just
- 31:52have Ramadan that, you know, realigns us back on track, but
- 31:55we have Muharram that, you know, we're blessed, you know?
- 31:58Wake up, call it. Gives us a wake up call because
- 32:01you always remember, for example, I'm sure like I used to
- 32:05think like this younger. I'm sure you have and I'm sure
- 32:08many people listening is that sometimes when you are in a
- 32:10situation you feel like it's not worth it bro, I'll go Hussein
- 32:14here I serve you marmal Hussein and Ashi and hosseini.
- 32:20His eyes should never see Haram ashiya hosseini.
- 32:24His ears should never listen to Haram.
- 32:26His tongue should never speak Haram.
- 32:27His stomach should never be felt with Haram.
- 32:30And these are all values and principles.
- 32:31If we say we are Husseini today in 2026, what's the biggest
- 32:35things we face? What's the biggest challenges
- 32:37it's facing Haran? And if we have the Husseini
- 32:40principles and Husseini values that we learn, otherwise we
- 32:43haven't learnt anything, something we haven't learnt
- 32:45anything. One like every year we come, we
- 32:48go to the messenger, we go to the Husseiniere, we sit down in
- 32:50a lecture and we benefit from our amazing scholars and
- 32:53speakers and lecturers. But without them, I don't think
- 32:56any of us will be learning our Dean because everyone's on
- 32:59surface level, right? So thanks to them and thanks to
- 33:01the amazing work and dedication they put and the time they give
- 33:04to the community that we are able to learn the lessons of
- 33:07Imam Hussein Alayhi Salaam. So if we got to the Masjid, if
- 33:09we got to the Hussein here and we walk out the same thing as we
- 33:13did yesterday or the day before, then well, we haven't achieved
- 33:15any. And in fact, I would ask, I
- 33:17would ask this, let me ask you actually, Ahmed, is that you
- 33:21know when we I think it was during 15 Shaban, I think there
- 33:26was a question asked prior to the episode we had, we'll say
- 33:30the Hamad Bharat Taswini or poster, I can't remember what
- 33:32was during that season of the birth of Imam and Mehdi Angela
- 33:35to Al Farid Sharif. We would say, we would say if
- 33:38Imam and Mehdi saw your phone, would you be happy with you?
- 33:41If Imam and Hussain, the question should be right now, if
- 33:43we say what Hussain, if Mohammed Hussain was with us here today
- 33:46or we were with him today, what would we change?
- 33:50Because a lot of us relate more to Imam Hussain.
- 33:52Let's be real, we are raised in this, We are in many ways
- 33:58educated in the Husseini arts. We are many ways united as a
- 34:02community through this congregation and the, you know,
- 34:07the majorities of Imam Hussein Ali as Salam.
- 34:09So if we really want to please Imam and Mehdi, it's not just
- 34:14your and Mehdi, it's not just our last panel.
- 34:16It's all the and I would say in particularly Imam Hussein, why?
- 34:20Why? Tell me.
- 34:26Because you know, when Ibis says Hubble Hussein, generally it
- 34:30wasn't just the love, Ahmed, it was everything, Donia, life,
- 34:35money, whatever it is, Imam Hussain, he's our currency.
- 34:40Imam Hussain, he's our heart. But what I want to say, Ahmed, I
- 34:46know you're giving, someone's giving me a look over there.
- 34:48But what I really want to say is that someone asked once a
- 34:54question I saw in the comments and he was like all you Shias do
- 34:59is love Imam Al Hussain and love no one else from the prophets.
- 35:04You don't show the same love to Allah Subhanaw Ta'ala.
- 35:08So I want to ask you a misconception and I want you to
- 35:11answer it as a Shiite, Don't give me, you know, left, right,
- 35:15centre, don't be politically correct, don't play the cause of
- 35:18diplomacy. And you know, the accusations of
- 35:20taqaya, just be upfront with me because this, this
- 35:23misinformation has been, you know, found online, continues to
- 35:27be online as always asked even today we see in the comment
- 35:29sections, people ask this question, do the Shias Revere,
- 35:34Imam Hussein, Mona Rasol Allah, let me know.
- 35:37In fact, let them know. This notion that the Shia love
- 35:42the Holy Prophet less than Imam Hussein, I can understand why
- 35:46people think that. They see our love for Imam
- 35:49Hussein, and perhaps they don't understand it, maybe because
- 35:51they don't have that same love a lot of the time.
- 35:53They think that they love Imam Hussein more than we love Imam
- 35:56Hussein. It's not even a comparison.
- 35:58On the contrary, not only do I believe that we love Imam Al
- 36:02Hassan and Imam Al Hussain and say the Fatima Zaharah and Imam
- 36:06Ali Alai Salam more than others, I think we love the Holy Prophet
- 36:10Sallallahu Alaihi more than everyone else.
- 36:13This is because the Holy Prophet himself said hold on to the
- 36:16Quran and the Ahlal bait and you will never go astray.
- 36:19He holds his 2 equal index fingers together such that
- 36:23there's equality between the Quran and the Ahlal bait.
- 36:26He himself says Hussein and mini Wanaminal Hussein.
- 36:29Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein, and Imam Hussein
- 36:33himself said I rose only to reform the teachings of the
- 36:40community who followed the religion of my grandfather.
- 36:44So when you understand this concept, do you recognize that
- 36:47by loving Imam Hussein you love the Holy Prophet Muhammad?
- 36:50Finally, from a theological point of view, the Holy Prophet
- 36:53Muhammad, sallallallahu alaihi wasallam is first in our
- 36:57theology, followed then by the Ayaam alaihi musallam, and then
- 37:01followed by the Ambiya Alai musallam.
- 37:04This is incredibly important for us to make a note of what Imam
- 37:07Hussein gave us. He is the ark of salvation and
- 37:10the beacon of guidance for all of Muslim mean, all of the mutt
- 37:14mineen around the world. Whether you are a Shia or you
- 37:17are a Sunni, whether you are a Muslim or you're not a Muslim,
- 37:21what you can learn from Imam Al Hussein El a Salaam will
- 37:24transform your life, your dunya and your achara.
- 37:28I truly believe that, but I want to ask you the same thing
- 37:31because a lot of the time people say this and they say not only
- 37:34do you guys love Imam Hussein more than you love the Holy
- 37:37Prophet, you, for example, love Imam Hussein so excessively.
- 37:42You mourn Imam Hussein so excessively that you don't know
- 37:45where to draw the line. I'm going to ask you another
- 37:48misconception since we're bringing this up and I know this
- 37:51is something this time of year where people ask these questions
- 37:53a lot, right? I remember in school these
- 37:55debates all the time and one of the common themes which we get
- 37:59asked, as she has at this time of year, is why do you mourn the
- 38:05death of Hossein more than you should or more than other
- 38:09Muslims would? To not mourn Imam and Hossein is
- 38:13an injustice for any Muslim, Sunni, Shia, whoever you may be.
- 38:17To have no grief of your sorrow of your side for the tragedy
- 38:22that took place on the 10th of Muharram on the plains of
- 38:24Karbala. Are you even Muslim while Rasool
- 38:27al-Assad, Hossein and Minni when I'm in Hossein Haba Lam and Haba
- 38:30Hosseiner Anafi Oluba Munir Hararatan, you know that flame
- 38:36Rasulullah speaks about the eternal flame in the hearts of
- 38:38the believers that never fade away.
- 38:40For my grandson Imam Al Hussain Ali Assalam, this is me, this is
- 38:43you. This is all I would say
- 38:45Inshallah the Shia and inshallah one the all the Muslims.
- 38:48Let them say well Hadi is is. Let them ask these questions.
- 38:52Yani. I I would want to say if you
- 38:54want to stop us. Morning Imam Al Hussain.
- 38:57You have to fight against us all.
- 38:59Allah, if you want to stop us from mourning the tragedy of
- 39:02Karbala, go against God and see what happens.
- 39:06Because we say haba Lam and haba hosseinah.
- 39:10Did I say this? No, our prophet said this.
- 39:14If you show love to Imam al Hossein, if you love Imam al
- 39:17Hossein, Allah loves you. What greater status do we want
- 39:21as Muslims than the love of Allah, Subhanahu utti Allah?
- 39:23Beyond that, I go back to a narration where Rasul Allah
- 39:27Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was having a conversation with his
- 39:31beloved daughter Fatima Zahra Ali Hasallam, where she saw him
- 39:36crying. She went to him.
- 39:38Abatah Rasul Allah, why are you crying?
- 39:40And he told her what will happen to her son Imam and Hussein Ali
- 39:44has Salaam Fatima Zahra. She herself began crying.
- 39:48She said, Yah Rasul Allah, who will be there when this takes
- 39:52place? Who will cry for him?
- 39:55Who will remember him? Who will mourn him?
- 39:58What the Rasul Allah say to her? He said Fatima, there will come
- 40:04a day where Allah, Subhanahu wata Allah will create Shia, not
- 40:11just Muslims, Shia. Who will mourn about Abdullah?
- 40:15Who will remember ABBA Abdullah? Who will cry for the tragedy of
- 40:18ABBA Abdullah? Who's going to stop us?
- 40:20You want to stop us from crying? One is is any bro.
- 40:24We've been doing this since the battle of Karbala.
- 40:27And we will cry until the day of judgement.
- 40:29I'm being very real, Ahmed. You cannot be a Muslim.
- 40:34And asking these questions that in fact, let me take it
- 40:36personal. Yeah.
- 40:38You want to stop us from crying? Imam Al Hussein banished us from
- 40:40this Earth. We're going to take us to the
- 40:42moon. We'll hold the measures on the
- 40:44moon. You want to put us in prison?
- 40:46We'll turn the prisons, the jails into Hussein.
- 40:48Here. We all try.
- 40:50You can't stop this. This is a promise by Allah by
- 40:55the by, by the narration I mentioned of Rasul Allah between
- 40:58him and his daughter Fatma Zahra Ali as Salaam Bro, this is
- 41:02you're not going to be able to. End this.
- 41:03Yeah, of course, man. And if you have a problem with
- 41:06the way Shia Muslims mourn Imam and Hussein, you have a problem
- 41:10with God. That's how I see it.
- 41:12Because you haven't understood Rasul Allah, you have, you
- 41:14haven't understood, understood the mission of Imam and Hussein
- 41:17on the plains of Karbala. Imam Hussein didn't just die for
- 41:20me and for you. No, he died for you as well.
- 41:22For those of you who don't mourn or cry for ABBA Abdullah Wasirah
- 41:25Salaam. And not just Muslims bro, that's
- 41:27I won't. Say that I can tell this.
- 41:29It means a lot because we always get attacked.
- 41:32We always, you know, people try to gaslight everything and drop
- 41:38comments left, right and centre and you know, she has this and
- 41:41she has that. No, bro, we're very happy.
- 41:42In fact, she has what we do, what we worship Allah, upon
- 41:47Allah, we pray five times a day, we fast, we pray our zakat, we
- 41:52do Amar Bilmarov, we go to, we do all of this, all the
- 41:54obligations as Muslims we do. So if you have a problem with
- 41:57us, you have a problem with Allah, Allah, That's it.
- 42:00Allah Allah, Allah Allah Ahmed One.
- 42:02They're OK bro. No, no, I got frustrated, man.
- 42:05Why are they asking these questions in 2026?
- 42:07Yeah, go bro, go look at what's happening in the Middle East and
- 42:10then ask us again. That's it.
- 42:12No, you're right. No, I mean, look at this time of
- 42:14year. Like I said, you get this guys.
- 42:18Go easy on state. Ali, please in the comments
- 42:20please. Every year we get the same
- 42:21question. Go easy for his help.
- 42:24Put the new question for the love of Imam Al Hussain Ali, his
- 42:27Salam. Honestly, I love you, bro.
- 42:30I love you all. I love you.
- 42:31But yeah, you're speaking facts. You're speaking facts.
- 42:33Mashallah I agree with it. That mean, do you want me to ask
- 42:36you another misconception? No, no, no.
- 42:37I think you're going to get my blood pressure.
- 42:39Yeah, no. This, this is the love of Imam
- 42:44Hussein. No, I know, I know.
- 42:45No, I know. There's a look, There's a lot of
- 42:46these. Another one is that this year I
- 42:48killed him and Hussein. God, don't get me started.
- 42:51We've had this. We've been there.
- 42:53We've done that. Google.
- 42:54It did. This year I killed him and
- 42:55Hussein. You're going to have one speaker
- 42:58say, yeah, this year I killed him and Hussein.
- 43:00They called him Imam Hussain was heading there.
- 43:04They abandoned Muslim, they abandoned Man Hussain.
- 43:06They wrote him the letters and then they never showed up when
- 43:09it came to battle. Come on, man.
- 43:10I'm not going to get into that now.
- 43:11I don't want to do kind of a rebuttal, but obviously we know.
- 43:15We are the school of Torhida. We know who killed Imam Hussain,
- 43:18we know who killed the school. When Sam and Hussein prayed that
- 43:21final prayer on the battle of Karbala.
- 43:23But we are the school of Torhida.
- 43:24You know what can I say something to you on this year?
- 43:27You know, I read today Subhanallah was thinking about
- 43:31this year, the battle was meant to happen on the 9th of Muharram
- 43:34as we know, I would have been sad came with his came with his
- 43:41his envoy towards the camp of Imam Hussein.
- 43:45Aye Salaam say the Zainab woke up Imam Imam was having a nap,
- 43:49she woke him up. She said they're coming, wake
- 43:53up, be prepared. So Imam Hussein looked at Abu
- 43:56father and he says go and see what they want.
- 43:59Our father rode out like a warrior that he is He said to
- 44:02Omar beside what do you want? He said today is your day you're
- 44:07either going to give allegiance now or we're going to have to
- 44:08kill you. Yeah, I'm alive you rather but
- 44:13hazard Abbas said his son went back to Mama Hussein.
- 44:15He kind of conveyed the message and Mama Hussein said ask them
- 44:19for one night's respite such that I can do my about that
- 44:23Allah. I want to pray, I want to
- 44:25supplicate, I want to seek forgiveness to Allah, I want to
- 44:28recite the Quran. He said my Lord knows how much I
- 44:31love to do this. He said specifically my Lord
- 44:34knows how much I love my Salah. When Imam Hussein says I want
- 44:40one more night to pray my Salah, tomorrow we can touch base.
- 44:46When they went back to Abu, father went back to Omaha.
- 44:48Beside he said we want one more night to worship Allah, to read
- 44:53the Quran, to pray our Salah. Omdem Masad was in two mines.
- 44:57He had two commanders with him. The names are mentioned in our
- 45:00wayat one commander said don't give it to them.
- 45:03If they were Turk from the Turkish tribes or another tribe,
- 45:06you should give it to them. But I don't know why, some
- 45:08cultural reasons. And another commander said Nah
- 45:11give it to give it to him. One of Assad was confused.
- 45:14Ultimately he said yes, fine, one more night, fine tomorrow,
- 45:18deadline day, If you don't give me allegiance tomorrow to give
- 45:22to Yazid, game over. We know who killed Imam Hussein.
- 45:26Who were those 30,000 plus? Who were they giving allegiance
- 45:30to when obeyed Allah bin Ziad? When he was speaking to Imam
- 45:37Sajjad Ali Salam, you know, he said to him, it's crazy, it's
- 45:42crazy. He said Allah killed your father
- 45:50and Imam Sajad Ali Salam himself said Allah did not kill my
- 45:56father, it was you who killed my father.
- 45:59Allah is a witness to what you did.
- 46:02Allah. And that in and of itself is an
- 46:05answer to those like Jahil guys today and in the past who
- 46:11claimed that the killers, Imam Hussein, were the Shia
- 46:14themselves. The Shia were the ones who are
- 46:16with Imam Hussein. Habi bin Madahil.
- 46:20You're talking about the likes of horror.
- 46:22You're talking a lot about the likes of Al Qaasim Ali Salaam,
- 46:26the family, the companions, many of those who join the Imam.
- 46:30You look at the companions of the imam crazy, crazy.
- 46:33I mean, in a good way, like unbelievable.
- 46:36Like, I'd not to say in this way, like, and I hope this
- 46:40doesn't get taken the wrong way. It's kind of like a band of
- 46:42misfits looking at people from different tribes.
- 46:45Some were old, some were young. You had a teenager from Turkey
- 46:49who was a servant. You had Habib, who of course was
- 46:52an elderly man. You had Wahab, who of course was
- 46:56from a Christian background. You had people from different
- 46:59backgrounds, Joan. You had all of these people who
- 47:02represented a different path or a different struggling life.
- 47:04They represented the world. They represented the world.
- 47:07They represented humanity. They represented like sincerity,
- 47:12like these were people who were drawn towards their mom's
- 47:16mission. Let me just say something in a
- 47:18microcosmic fashion. What we saw of the companions
- 47:23who were drawn towards Imam Hussein will be what we see with
- 47:27Imam Al Mehdi and those who are drawn towards him.
- 47:30People from diverse backgrounds, people with different struggles
- 47:32from different parts of the world, who are drawn towards
- 47:35this man's goodness and his godliness.
- 47:38Like there's something about this man which is drawing me
- 47:41towards him. I don't care if it's him versus
- 47:43the world. I'm choosing him.
- 47:46We know when he unlit the candle on the night of Ashura and he
- 47:50said to them, now's your chance to leave.
- 47:52And they said no, no. Yah, Hussein, if we were to be
- 47:57killed, burned, chopped into 1000 pieces, revived and had it
- 48:03done again, we would still stand with you.
- 48:07Yeah. ABBA Abdullah.
- 48:09And imagine just the concept of absolute conviction.
- 48:13You're clean. That this is your imam.
- 48:14I know this is my mum. I know he's on hack and I know I
- 48:17will never leave him no matter what odds are against me.
- 48:20That means that you have more belief in the truth of this man
- 48:24than in the inevitable pain and suffering you'll face in a
- 48:27physical sense from what is to come through standing with him.
- 48:31It's just like a mind boggling thing.
- 48:33Yeah, it's. Absolutely mind boggling bro.
- 48:35I mean. As Hab the companions of Imam
- 48:37and Hussein Ali has Salaam they they.
- 48:39Superheroes. They bro, they had conviction.
- 48:41Yeah, yeah, like real life. Superhero.
- 48:43They understood the mission and we we mentioned for example, I
- 48:47remember, I think it was our first Muharram or second
- 48:49Muharram here on after Maghrib, where we were talking about the
- 48:55companions of Imam Al Hussein and why Imam Al Hussein said
- 48:59these companions are the best companions, bro Yani, if we just
- 49:03focus on the companions themselves, bro, each one.
- 49:06Yes, yeah, yeah. Is a message, each one there
- 49:08are. No companions like my
- 49:09companions. Imagine that.
- 49:11That's incredible, man. And speaking about this Ibar
- 49:14there where you mentioned, for example, Imam Hussain requested
- 49:16one final night of, you know, being able to watch one last
- 49:19final with the Allah. The narration say wait, say what
- 49:22about his companions that the way they were worshipping was
- 49:25like bees at the sound of bees. This is how much they were
- 49:29engaged in about the to Allah. So final matala, which which is
- 49:32which is mad when you think of it.
- 49:34Yeah. And you know you're about to die
- 49:35Inevitable death. You know, for example, not not
- 49:38just you. Your Imam is going to face
- 49:4030,000 sorts and Spears and the likes.
- 49:44Of can I add to that? Yeah, sorry.
- 49:46You know, like Shahramaban after a long day of fasting.
- 49:50Some of us, we're thirsty. We don't even want to pray Salah
- 49:54before we break our fast. Yeah bro.
- 49:56The Imam had water cut off from him for three days and the
- 50:00desert heat of Karbala 3 days. Him, his children, his family.
- 50:04He knew. He'd said Al Qassim, They will
- 50:06not spare us. Al Qassim will be killed.
- 50:08Abdullah Ravi will be killed. With that thirst, the inevitable
- 50:14death and destruction which will face them.
- 50:17He knew what was to come tomorrow.
- 50:19He even had a dream on the 9th of Ashura the night of Muharram
- 50:23where the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salah Aliwal came to him and
- 50:26said you will be joining us very soon.
- 50:28Oh grandson, you think about even knowing that like after
- 50:32three days this is what I can't stand 3 days of thirst.
- 50:36Then to be supplicating like you said, humming like bees
- 50:40overnight. I cannot wrap my head around
- 50:44that. Like even just talking now.
- 50:45How long? However long we've been talking.
- 50:47Bro, I'm tired. My do you know what I mean?
- 50:48You need to finish the pod soon. Man's tired.
- 50:50I need some more, you know, Mashallah, like it just goes to
- 50:54show like there was a complete, complete connection to God.
- 50:59Yeah, unconditional loyalty to the mum of their time.
- 51:04Yeah, Yeah, it's one last song I know.
- 51:06And that's beautiful. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 51:07I just just just finally, I think on the companions is that
- 51:11I generally believe they, they they saw and tasted gender
- 51:16before going gender honestly, because they were with Sayed
- 51:19Shabab, eh, legend, you know, and you, you're with the very
- 51:22man who's going to lead you in paradise.
- 51:24Like how beautiful is that? I mean the status and the makan
- 51:27as Hab of Imam Al Hussein have and bro, it's tragic.
- 51:30And as much as we're talking about the greatness and the the
- 51:34status with the last panel at Allah, they face a tragedy
- 51:38themselves. Go read the Makati.
- 51:40Go read and and I you know, something that's very sad, a lot
- 51:45of people who go to yard in Karbala, they forget to visit
- 51:48that haba of Imam Hussein. It's it's happened a few times.
- 51:51So for example, they go to the shrine and they go to the vary
- 51:55of ABBA Abdullah Hussein Alehissalaam.
- 51:57Then you ask them, OK, did you go, for example, to Habibi Bibin
- 52:00Mubahir? Did you see the place where
- 52:03tragically the head of Imam Hussein was severed?
- 52:06Did you see that Hab the like, no, I don't know.
- 52:08I just went, you know, I just went to the and I didn't know
- 52:11everything else that was happening.
- 52:12Nothing is important that we can educate ourselves to understand
- 52:16Imam and Hussain is to understand not just him, but
- 52:19those who died with him alongside him.
- 52:21And I think that's very important and shut Allah.
- 52:23And I think finally, because I think we've we're coming towards
- 52:26the end the podcast. Ahmed, you know, there's a lot
- 52:30of people who say I want to serve.
- 52:34I always see this question being asked, how can I get involved?
- 52:39Are there ways? Do I have to contact
- 52:42communities? Do I have to, you know, call up
- 52:44centres or husseiniads? What's the best way for someone
- 52:48who doesn't belong to a community but wants to serve
- 52:51Imam and Hussein this Muharram? How can they go out about that?
- 52:56It's a good question. I know you're very, you know,
- 52:58you're involved with. Community no mushroom this
- 52:59conversation I've learned from you my whole life.
- 53:02Look, ultimately my humble opinion is, is that Hidma is an
- 53:07honour. If you're granted that honour,
- 53:10don't say no to, don't decline it, don't deny it.
- 53:12Sometimes you're not, it's not over, so you won't be told.
- 53:16Would you like to volunteer? Sometimes it is, sometimes it's
- 53:18not. Sometimes the thought comes to
- 53:20you like an Ishara or an I'll harm, like an inspiration into
- 53:23your mind. You have an intention, you want
- 53:26to serve, you've got an idea, you've got resources and
- 53:28capacity. Smiller like Allah is giving you
- 53:30an opportunity. Do it right.
- 53:33How to serve. We're very lucky in the world in
- 53:35the way that we live in a world where we have communities around
- 53:38us. For the most part.
- 53:39We have Rosania. We have in many cases, you don't
- 53:41have that. Or if you do have that, you
- 53:43don't. You're not in a relationship
- 53:44with them. Maybe you're not local or you're
- 53:46not on terms with them. Fine, It happens.
- 53:49At the same time, you have many other things.
- 53:51I will never, ever underestimate and never understate the power
- 53:54of digital resources. After Maghrib, his digital
- 53:57resource as a classic example where a couple guys who were
- 54:01like, yeah, we want to talk about religion, All we have is a
- 54:03camera. Do you know, on a YouTube
- 54:05account, Spiller, let's do it. Let's build a digital community
- 54:08that serves the imam. So the same way you can do that,
- 54:10Like how many video editors do we know?
- 54:12How many people do we know that writes blogs about the imam?
- 54:15How many guys do we know that are graphic designers and
- 54:18sisters, guys and girls and those who are serving the Imam
- 54:21in their own ways beyond that as well, bro, it can be absolutely
- 54:23anything. You can be doing Hidma in your
- 54:26own heart. You go in the street and you'll
- 54:28see litter and you're picking it up because you want to build a
- 54:31world that's prepared for the coming of Imam and Mehdi by
- 54:34cleaning the earth, for example. Or you teach in your local
- 54:38school or as your Sunday school, Islamic school or whatever your
- 54:42madrasa, you're educating the next generation.
- 54:44Or it could be visiting the elderly in the community, could
- 54:47be helping them out with their tasks, their shopping, and
- 54:50they're visiting the sick. There are so many ways to serve.
- 54:53Serving and service in and of itself should not be limited to
- 54:57what we consider traditionally to be Hidma, which is stirring
- 55:01the pot of Kheema, you know, climbing the ladders, drilling
- 55:04the flags into the walls that these are what when you think of
- 55:07Hidma, you think of like the, you know, what we see on
- 55:10Instagram reels, you know what I mean?
- 55:12Like the guys who are carrying the member or the guys who are
- 55:16like putting the flags up. Yeah, of course that's service.
- 55:20Of course service comes in many forms.
- 55:22Bro. Anything you do feels to be
- 55:23Allah with the intention for proximity towards our last
- 55:27Pantala to please your Imam Ali Salaam.
- 55:31In and of itself it's counted as Hedma who inshallah we all
- 55:34accept is Hodam. That's our goal, that's our aim.
- 55:37It's an honour, inshallah. Yeah, man.
- 55:39Listen, last point from me, then I'll wrap up.
- 55:41We both wrap up from me. Last point is firstly, Brothers
- 55:44and Sisters after Maghrib is going to have a good few
- 55:48episodes this Muharram where we're talking about the saga of
- 55:52Karbala directly or indirectly. Some podcasts of course,
- 55:56especially the the Holy nights, the 1st 10 nights are going to
- 55:59be specifically about Imam Hussein Majalis, Ashura Karbala.
- 56:05Then of course as we drift towards Arbaeen, we're going to
- 56:07be starting to talk more about the global mission of Baham
- 56:10Hussein, Arbaeen, say the Zainab Imam Sajad Ali and Saddam.
- 56:14And of course many of the other stories that took place after
- 56:18the 10th of Muhabram. We're also going to be talking
- 56:20about things that are indirectly affecting this time of year and
- 56:26are affected by this time of year.
- 56:27So for example, our lives, our struggles, our relationships,
- 56:32our communities, these are things which we have to talk
- 56:34about at these times because it's now, right?
- 56:38We learn. If not now, when?
- 56:40Like we use this time to learn. Yeah, bro.
- 56:42So my only request from from everyone at home is firstly,
- 56:46subscribe. Please do support the channel,

- 57:58I'm excited to see what the comments say.
- 58:01Lasha yeshbahu karabana. What can I do about it?

- 58:16Salaam alaikum.
