- 2:16Dayna Roselli: Welcome to episode 157 of Vegas Revealed.
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: Dana and Sean here, and just like the rest of the country, we've had a crazy week of weather here in Las Vegas.
- 2:27Dayna Roselli: Sean, two days ago, I was literally at the pool.
- 2:30Sean McAllister: I saw that.
- 2:31Sean McAllister: I was like, man, Roselli's getting a jump on tanning season.
- 2:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah, me and my friend Robin went down there to the pool.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: We had lunch.
- 2:39Dayna Roselli: We just sat out and did whatever we'd be doing in our apartments or condos that day.
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: We just did it by the pool on our phone, on our computer, just hung out.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: And it wasn't even cold in any way.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: When that sun shines and it's 70 degrees, it's warm.
- 2:51Sean McAllister: It is, it's beautiful.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: But today we're sitting here recording a podcast and it's snowing.
- 2:56Sean McAllister: Crazy.
- 2:57Sean McAllister: This is what the second week that we've talked about snow.
- 3:00Sean McAllister: I know.
- 3:01Dayna Roselli: And when we say snow, it's like we can see white stuff coming down.
- 3:04Sean McAllister: It doesn't stick.
- 3:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's not very like large flakes.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: What is that?
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: I think I just listened to one of our weather guys to call it grapple, which is like a mix of like I don't know.
- 3:14Sean McAllister: It's like a snow sleek.
- 3:16Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 3:16Sean McAllister: Like a or is that the stuff when it is snow in the air, but then it's liquid by the time it touches the ground?
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: Something like that.
- 3:25Sean McAllister: One of those weather terms.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we'll leave it to the meteorologist on that one.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: But that's what they were saying was happening right now.
- 3:30Dayna Roselli: So anyway, yeah, it's been a wild uh weather week, that's for sure.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: So um, if you come to Vegas, be prepared during these months.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: You really never know what you're gonna get.
- 3:40Sean McAllister: You don't, and it's funny, I saw a post on uh social media the other day because we had you know crazy 70 mile per hour winds that came through.
- 3:49Sean McAllister: It was really nuts.
- 3:50Sean McAllister: And and someone said it's perfect here for nine months of the year, and the other three, you're playing weather roulette.
- 3:58Sean McAllister: True.
- 3:58Sean McAllister: I was like, that is very accurate.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: I mean, we don't have anything like it never seems like major, major, but last night's wind, I felt like was the windiest night for me living in a high rise for the last about 10 years that I've ever experienced.
- 4:13Dayna Roselli: Um, pictures actually fell off my walls.
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: Yes, the walls were shaking.
- 4:18Dayna Roselli: That's how windy it was.
- 4:20Sean McAllister: Wow.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: I'm pretty high up in the high rise, so I'm sure the wind I might get it a little bit more than most people that are down on the ground.
- 4:28Dayna Roselli: But um, all of a sudden I heard bang and like this picture fell off the wall.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: And then on a shelf, I had like a picture leaning against the wall, and that fell forward.
- 4:38Dayna Roselli: It was crazy.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: The lights started blinking, the Wi-Fi went out.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: Never lost power though.
- 4:42Sean McAllister: Well, that's good.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: My rug on my patio was flipped up and on the other side of the patio.
- 4:48Sean McAllister: But lucky you still have a rug on your patio.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: It's true, it's true.
- 4:51Dayna Roselli: It's weird where my patio is placed.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: For some reason, the wind does not knock over things as much as you think it would.
- 4:58Dayna Roselli: It kind of, I don't know, sits in a weird pocket set back.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: So anyway, it has definitely been a wild weather week.
- 5:04Sean McAllister: Yeah, so just keep that in mind.
- 5:05Sean McAllister: When you come to uh Vegas during the wintertime, it it can be a mixed bag sometimes.
- 5:13Sean McAllister: Well, you know, we have seen a lot of over-the-top entertainment here in Las Vegas.
- 5:17Sean McAllister: There's no doubt about that.
- 5:18Sean McAllister: We've seen bands perform on the Bellagio Fountains, up on the rooftops of uh casinos on the strip and downtown, even at the Grand Canyon.
- 5:28Sean McAllister: But there's another music event that's coming up, uh, the likes of which we have never seen.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah, this is gonna be interesting.
- 5:35Dayna Roselli: Apparently, this has never been done before, which I guess I didn't really think about or realize.
- 5:40Sean McAllister: Yeah, me either.
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: But Billy Idol is having a concert at the Hoover Dam.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: And the Hoover Dam's been around for I think it's almost 90 years, and they have never done a concert there.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: Um, only 250 people are gonna be allowed to watch this concert live, but they are filming it.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: So I have a feeling we're all gonna see it eventually, um, whatever they decide to do with it.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: But um, they have packages happening, uh, same-day tickets, but again, it's very limited.
- 6:07Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be under the stars on April 8th.
- 6:11Dayna Roselli: And Billy Idol wants to bring awareness to the drought in the west um of the country, the western part of the country.
- 6:19Dayna Roselli: And so he's doing this awareness concert.
- 6:23Dayna Roselli: And it also says uh he's gonna bring along some of his friends and some special guest performances.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: So I don't know who else is gonna pop up, but I can only expect it's gonna be pretty cool.
- 6:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is gonna be happening.
- 6:33Sean McAllister: So on one side of the Hoover Dam, you have uh Lake Mead or what's left of Lake Mead.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 6:39Sean McAllister: Uh on the other side, you have that big canyon uh where you really see the drop-off of the Hoover Dam.
- 6:46Sean McAllister: And it sounds like they're gonna be setting up a stage down uh at the bottom of the canyon so that you know, as you watch the show, uh I it looks like there's gonna be all sorts of projections and lights up on the on the side of the dam.
- 7:01Sean McAllister: Um, and that will be the backdrop for Billy Idol and his guest performers.
- 7:06Sean McAllister: So that yeah, really unique and intimate event.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: I'm excited to see how this goes off.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: Oh, it does look cool.
- 7:13Dayna Roselli: Listen, you can go to thisisvertigo.live to get information.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: I think I saw that most same-day single tickets are gone, but the packages are still available.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: They have like packages where you can stay at the Waldorf uh Historia.
- 7:28Dayna Roselli: There's gonna be a bus that leaves there to take you to the Hoover Dam.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: There's a welcome party at the Hard Rock Cafe uh Friday night.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: There's a brunch with um one of the, I think it's like uh one of the performers on Sunday.
- 7:42Dayna Roselli: So there's a whole bunch of stuff that you can take a look at, but get it while it's hot because I think they're gonna go quick.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: Uh for a one-of-a-kind event like that, they're not gonna be hurting for uh ticket sales for sure.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: By the way, I've seen Billy Idle perform at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, and he was great.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: Was he?
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: Yes, really good.
- 8:00Dayna Roselli: He even whipped his shirt off.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: I think we talked about this, and I was like, good for you.
- 8:03Dayna Roselli: He looked great.
- 8:04Dayna Roselli: Billy will bring it down at the Hoover Dams.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: Keep on rocking.
- 8:07Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 8:08Sean McAllister: Well, you know, right now, if you live in Nevada, Dana, like we each do, and we want to play the lottery, we have to either call our parents back home in New York and be like, hey, when you're out, can you pick up some lotto tickets for me?
- 8:24Sean McAllister: And you know, do the Venmo exchange.
- 8:27Sean McAllister: Or you have to drive to California or Arizona to buy tickets because those are the closest states with lotteries.
- 8:35Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:35Sean McAllister: But that could be changing.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: And this has been talked about for years and years and years, and everyone's always shocked.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: Why doesn't Nevada have the lottery?
- 8:43Sean McAllister: I miss the lottery.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: It's fun.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: It is fun.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: But I guess, you know, we have enough going on with you know, we've allowed gaming for how long, right?
- 8:51Sean McAllister: Um, and so you do, but scratcher tickets are great.
- 8:54Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 8:54Dayna Roselli: It is fun, but they're addicting.
- 8:56Sean McAllister: It does uh oh, it sounds like there's a story here.
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: No, no, I was just gonna say there, I mean something that I was just gonna say that it's something that I feel like everyone in New York gives people on their in their birthday card.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: Oh, don't you agree?
- 9:09Sean McAllister: Growing up, I got scratchers almost every single year in my birthday card and in my stocking.
- 9:14Dayna Roselli: My stocking.
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: In fact, I did a scratch off when I was home during the holidays and I won 50 bucks.
- 9:19Dayna Roselli: Look at that.
- 9:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:20Sean McAllister: See, they start us young in New York, don't they?
- 9:22Sean McAllister: They do.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: But it would be great to have those where we could.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: I love being able to just put scratch offs in someone's card when you can't think of what to get them.
- 9:30Sean McAllister: It is nice.
- 9:31Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 9:32Dayna Roselli: But anyway, side note.
- 9:33Dayna Roselli: Um, yeah, and so it's always surprising that Nevada, you know, being a gambling state, we didn't have a lottery.
- 9:38Dayna Roselli: So now we're um considering it, apparently.
- 9:41Dayna Roselli: It's a proposed amendment to the Nevada Constitution, which would open the door to establish a state lottery.
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: And apparently they want to raise money to fund youth mental health programs.
- 9:53Dayna Roselli: So that's what they're going for right now.
- 9:55Dayna Roselli: And we'll have to see where it goes.
- 9:57Dayna Roselli: It could be interesting to follow, and it could be interesting to see if Nevada gets this.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: And, you know, I bet we can make a lot of money for services.
- 10:05Sean McAllister: This is something I'm all for.
- 10:07Sean McAllister: I know a lot of the uh big casinos and resorts are not in favor or historically have not been in favor of a lottery, but I think people would uh love it.
- 10:19Sean McAllister: And if it's raising money to go for a good a good cause and a need within the state, that's a great thing too.
- 10:27Sean McAllister: I know when we were growing up in New York, um the state lottery money went to the education system across New York State.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: So you know, and it raises a bunch of money.
- 10:40Sean McAllister: So hopefully here in Nevada it uh, you know, could end up helping out uh youth mental health programs and who knows if it makes enough.
- 10:49Sean McAllister: There could be other things that benefit down the line.
- 10:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean in New York State has some of the best schools, you know.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: Um that's where we grew up.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: But um, yeah, Nevada ranking 39th uh on a study that was uh done at UNLV for access to mental health care.
- 11:08Dayna Roselli: So they feel like that's something that we really need to low end.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, to up here in Nevada.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: So we'll see what happens.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: We will definitely keep you posted on that one though, because that'll be interesting to follow.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: I feel like it's been tried and attempted so many times, but it's always failed.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: So maybe this time it'll fly.
- 11:22Sean McAllister: I have my lucky penny ready for some scratchers whenever it happens.
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: Yep, get your key out, your penny.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: The key never works as good as the penny, though.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: No, it doesn't.
- 11:31Dayna Roselli: You need a coin.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: Like a dent.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 11:33Dayna Roselli: We know, we know.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, this is something that we haven't talked about in a while.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: The future of the Rio.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: And we're talking about the Rio Hotel that is just off the strip.
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: It's been a Caesars property for many, many years.
- 11:47Dayna Roselli: Um, but recently taken over by someone else and kind of rented back to the Rio, or sorry, to the uh to Caesars for a while, right?
- 11:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, and now that owner is taking back full operation of the Rio.
- 12:00Sean McAllister: And as part of doing so, there's gonna be a massive renovation of the property going on a little later this year.
- 12:08Dayna Roselli: And I think we have noted before it definitely needs a renovation.
- 12:11Sean McAllister: It's been uh uh stuck in the same era for a while.
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: It has.
- 12:16Sean McAllister: And you know what?
- 12:17Sean McAllister: I have stayed there before, but those rooms are huge.
- 12:21Sean McAllister: It's uh you know, the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.
- 12:24Sean McAllister: They it's all suites, like the name says.
- 12:27Sean McAllister: So they're big rooms, they have great views.
- 12:30Sean McAllister: Um I would love to see I have some wild memories of the Rio late nights.
- 12:38Sean McAllister: Uh I would love to see the Rio have a uh fresh air breathed into it.
- 12:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I we ever people were talking about it was gonna get knocked down for so long, and then we were like, but it's such a big building.
- 12:50Dayna Roselli: It's like you couldn't just renovate it and make it a nice hotel.
- 12:52Dayna Roselli: It's not too far from the strip, and like you said, it has great views because it's just set off the strip, like the palms.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: Um that bar or lounge at the top has a great view.
- 13:01Dayna Roselli: Voodoo voodoo.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:03Dayna Roselli: I forgot about voodoo.
- 13:04Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 13:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I've been up there too.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: Um, I've never stayed at the Rio, so interesting to know that you have and that the rooms are big and nice.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: That's interesting.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: Giant, yeah.
- 13:13Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: So they need a little refurb.
- 13:15Dayna Roselli: Apparently, um he and I when I say he, the landlord, current landlord, um, the firm that he is part of, Dreamscape Companies, has raised$850 million in capital.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: It's gonna use the funds to launch a real estate investment trust that will own the casino, hospitality, and entertainment assets, and then form an entity to operate the business.
- 13:40Dayna Roselli: So it's a whole financial thing for all the intricate stuff, you know.
- 13:44Dayna Roselli: Google it.
- 13:45Dayna Roselli: For us, we just want you to know it's gonna be rentivated and they're uh renovated, and there's a possibility that a baseball stadium could go up next door.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 13:54Sean McAllister: On land that uh the Rio owns, uh, that is one of the uh sites that you know is being tossed around as a potential location for uh the Oakland A's if they make a move here to Las Vegas.
- 14:08Sean McAllister: So stay tuned for that.
- 14:09Sean McAllister: I'm excited for the Rio.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that'll be much needed.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, coming up, we're gonna talk a little bit about a red carpet that I did on Saturday with tons of rock and rollers like Rick Springfield, Sammy Hagar, um, Kevin Cronin of Ario Speedwagon.
- 14:24Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna talk about that.
- 14:25Dayna Roselli: We're gonna talk about a movie being shot um here in town with Mark Wahlberg, and we have a lot of other things to discuss.
- 14:34Dayna Roselli: But first we wanna hit up the Super Bowl again because as of our release date, there are 351 days until Super Bowl 58 here in Las Vegas.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: It's coming quick.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: So forget counting down to Christmas.
- 14:46Sean McAllister: We're counting down to the Super Bowl because we love it.
- 14:50Sean McAllister: You've already heard us uh talking about the Super Bowl coming to Las Vegas.
- 14:55Sean McAllister: You probably heard it at many other places as well.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: So we are the host city in 2024, and there have been signs of the excitement for the big game uh all over Las Vegas, including on Marquee's along the Las Vegas Strip, which have been lit with a countdown to the big kickoff.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: And we talked last week, like you said, about the Super Bowl.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: The Super Ball.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: It's so so hard not to say Super Bowl.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: It's the Super Ball, the Vegas Super Bowl arrived from Arizona.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: Huge football with the logo of the Super Bowl and our Las Vegas logo on it.
- 15:37Dayna Roselli: So that was fun.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: We went to Allegiance Stadium to see the Super Bowl.
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: Last week I told you I wanted a picture with it.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: I got my picture, so that's all done.
- 15:47Dayna Roselli: It's all over social media.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: But we also were able to chat with Steve Hill, who is the president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
- 15:59Dayna Roselli: It was fun to catch up with Steve.
- 16:01Dayna Roselli: And I'll admit, we bugged him a little for some details, but come on, give us something that that nobody's heard before.
- 16:08Dayna Roselli: Anyway, we stopped him, we talked to him, and here's that interview.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: We have watched uh well, it all started out in Arizona, right?
- 16:15Dayna Roselli: And now the Super Bowl is here.
- 16:17Dayna Roselli: This is just the beginning of an incredible year for you guys.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: It really is.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: Uh it's pretty exciting to be on the clock, and uh we're looking forward to the year, and we're looking forward to the Super Bowl in February 24th.
- 16:28Sean McAllister: And uh, being down in Phoenix and seeing everything that that just went on, uh, what have you learned?
- 16:36Sean McAllister: Did you get what ideas did you gather?
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, Phoenix did a great job, uh, really did, and they've got a lot of experience doing this, but uh Las Vegas has 60 years of experience putting on great events, and so we're really confident uh we're gonna do a great job.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Um the expectations are super high in Las Vegas.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Um we did have the opportunity to look at all of the different events in Phoenix and uh you know get some um behind the scenes uh information that's really helpful.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Um so we're we would appreciate their help on that.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: No shortage of uh one-upmanship that's gonna happen.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, no, this is this is definitely a contest and we're pretty competitive.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Um and you know, the expectations of the Super Bowl, the biggest event in the United States in the city that is the best in the world at hosting events, uh the expectations and the performance is gonna be really high.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: And so many people have been asking, like, what are we gonna- is it gonna be like a week of events, a month of events, I mean a year of events?
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: What can you tell us?
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: Well, there'll be some some interesting events along the way to the Super Bowl.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Um the the week itself is really a concentrated week of events that are happening all that'll happen all over the city.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: Some will be a part of what the NFL sanctions, but the you know, the city's gonna take advantage of everything there is to do around uh the Super Bowl as well.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Um but you'll feel the uh the momentum building as we get uh to that week.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of listeners from all around, really the country and the world.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: Should they all come to Vegas for the Super Bowl?
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, they all do already, right?
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: We have more people in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl when it's not here than the city that's hosting the Super Bowl.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, we're gonna be full and it's gonna be a funny.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: And uh are we the first ones to have a Super Bowl?
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: We're gonna be you're gonna be a number of first for uh Las Vegas that we'll set over the coming year.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: This is just the first of many.
- 18:37Dayna Roselli: So plan early, right?
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: If you're coming, plan early, book your hotels, do all that now, maybe.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it would be a good idea to uh to lock that down, make sure uh that you've got a place to stay and get ready.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, we're looking forward to it.
- 18:50Sean McAllister: And I think we're also looking forward to uh what we're going to see at halftime during Super Bowl 58.
- 18:58Sean McAllister: Can you uh spill any information about what to expect?
- 19:03Sean McAllister: Is it going to happen on the field, or is it something that's going to showcase the entire city?
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Well, actually, the halftime hasn't been planned yet, and it is an NFL and the halftime sponsor, which is Apple uh in 24, and we'll have some input into that, but it's really their decision what happens uh at halftime.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Uh the halftime in Phoenix was spectacular, the halftime last year in LA is spectacular, so they've set the bar pretty high.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: We're gonna have to jump over it.
- 19:29Dayna Roselli: I feel like we'll do it.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: I I I feel like we are too.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: Listen, thank you so much.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: We can't wait.
- 19:35Dayna Roselli: I'm sure we'll be talking to you a lot throughout the year.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Appreciate it.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: So it'll be interesting to see who does the halftime show because Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: I can only imagine that it's gonna be fabulous.
- 19:47Dayna Roselli: Um and we will keep you posted on that.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: Any little thing we hear.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: I'm sure there'll be lots of rumors over the year.
- 19:54Sean McAllister: Oh, there will.
- 19:54Dayna Roselli: You know, of who's going to perform.
- 19:56Sean McAllister: And probably a lot of fan uh activity to try and, you know, get the name of their favorite artist out there too.
- 20:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was uh Rihanna last year, and then um, well, I should say this year, and then the year before that, you know, was a collaboration of hip hop.
- 20:11Sean McAllister: That's great, the hip hop collab, yeah.
- 20:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so I wonder what if they'll go in kind of a different genre this time or what they'll do.
- 20:17Dayna Roselli: I mean, it could be country.
- 20:18unknown: It could be.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: Has there ever been a country halftime show?
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: Uh I'm trying to think because country's huge right now.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: I'm not necessarily saying I want a country halftime show, but I'm saying it could happen or maybe some type of collab.
- 20:33Sean McAllister: I had to believe that there was.
- 20:35Sean McAllister: I can't think off the top of my head of one.
- 20:38Dayna Roselli: I can't either.
- 20:39Dayna Roselli: So I mean, I guess, you know, has Taylor Swift done a halftime show yet?
- 20:43Sean McAllister: No, I don't think so.
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: Oh, really?
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: Hmm, okay, we'll see.
- 20:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, she's like country pop.
- 20:48unknown: Yeah.
- 20:48Dayna Roselli: Crossover, right?
- 20:49Sean McAllister: She'd be good.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she'd be good.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: Luke Bryan would be great.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: So many people would be great that are headliners here in Las Vegas, but I don't know if the NFL will go that route.
- 20:56Dayna Roselli: I guess we'll have to wait and see.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, we will.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: Well, Dana, I was out of town uh while you were at one of the biggest fundraising galas that we see all year here in Las Vegas.
- 21:10Sean McAllister: The Keep Memory Alive, Power of Love gala.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: It raises money for the Cleveland Clinic, Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, a very important facility that we have here in Las Vegas.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: We are lucky to have as well, and and people come in for help and treatment um from all over.
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: So they have to raise a lot of money.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: They're looking for a cure, they're looking to help constantly caregivers, and those are the people who obviously help and assist and take care of people that get diagnosed with brain diseases.
- 21:45Dayna Roselli: Um they're constantly needing funds to expand.
- 21:49Dayna Roselli: And so they have to have a really big fundraiser to raise the money that they need to provide.
- 21:54Dayna Roselli: And so they bring out all their celebrity friends, and when I say they, Camille and Larry Ruvo, who are famous.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Fantastic people.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: Fantastic people.
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: Lou Ruvo Center is named after Larry's dad, who passed to Alzheimer's.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: It was a great red carpet.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: And this year, it was a collaboration.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: They do something different every year.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: This year was a collaboration of rock and roll.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: Okay, here's the rundown of who, and I don't even know if I'm gonna hit everyone, but um it was Sammy Hagar, Rick Springfield, Michael McDonald, Kevin Cronin of Ario Speedwagon, Chad Kroger of Nickelback.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: Wow, John Mayer, Sam Moore.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: They all did this huge collaboration on stage.
- 22:40Sean McAllister: That's cool.
- 22:41Dayna Roselli: It was a great, yeah, everyone's just raving about how it came out.
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: Um, Paula Abdul was there.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 22:47Dayna Roselli: Nikki Glazer, the comedian, did stand up.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 22:51Dayna Roselli: So it just, and I might even be leaving some other people out.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: But here's the deal.
- 22:55Dayna Roselli: I was on the carpet, I got to talk to uh most all of them.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: John Mayer did not walk the red carpet.
- 22:59Dayna Roselli: It was actually a pink carpet, I should say.
- 23:02Dayna Roselli: Um, but what a fabulous collaboration.
- 23:05Dayna Roselli: And they were so excited to come together.
- 23:08Dayna Roselli: Chad Kroger from Nickelback was telling me, I mean, when Sammy calls and says, hey, we need to perform for a good cause, and we get to all be on stage together, which we really, you know, don't do often.
- 23:20Sean McAllister: It never happens.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: Or have never done.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: I'm in, you know.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: And Rick Springfield was there.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: He's got a residency coming up, or a few shows anyway, at the Strat uh toward the end of March.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: Great to see him.
- 23:32Dayna Roselli: I'd never met Kevin Cronin from Ario Speedwagon.
- 23:35Dayna Roselli: Fabulous guy.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: Uh his mom passed of Alzheimer's, so he wanted to be there.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: Oh, Alice Cooper.
- 23:41Dayna Roselli: Alice Cooper, yes.
- 23:42Dayna Roselli: And you know, Alice Cooper 75.
- 23:44Dayna Roselli: I said to him, How do you stay energized?
- 23:46Dayna Roselli: He's on like a big, huge tour now and everything.
- 23:48Dayna Roselli: I said, Hi, you're still going.
- 23:51Dayna Roselli: He said, You know, I just I love life.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, I never really got into the major partying phase, and I never smoked.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: And he said, and it's just helped me to stay energized, focused, and healthy through all these years, which I thought was interesting.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: Good for him.
- 24:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:09Dayna Roselli: And then Kevin Cronin of Ario Speedwagon was telling me that, you know, his mom had Alzheimer's, and there were times where they would play music for her.
- 24:17Dayna Roselli: I think he said it was My Fair Lady, the soundtrack of one of her favorite shows.
- 24:21Dayna Roselli: And he said it just would turn on this light.
- 24:24Dayna Roselli: And he said it they're now looking at, you know, how music plays a part in keeping the brain functioning and all that.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: So all sorts, everyone really had like a personal story to tell.
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: And that just shows that Alzheimer's affects so many people.
- 24:39Dayna Roselli: Paula Abdul was there, her dad passed of Alzheimer's, and she said, you know, the support that she received from the brain center was life-changing, and she'll do anything she can.
- 24:48Dayna Roselli: Maria Schriver was there, and there's a huge women's movement now.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: Um, and she was saying a lot of the women out there become caregivers, whether it's their mom, their dad, uh, husband, whatever, um, in their family, and that it's important to keep our brains active, just as we do when we talk about keeping our bodies active and Pilates and all that stuff.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, it was a great carpet, a lot of energy.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: Everyone's so happy to be there.
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: Sammy Hagar said, You know what?
- 25:16Dayna Roselli: I love this town and I want to do this.
- 25:19Dayna Roselli: I called up all my friends and we're ready to put on a rock and show.
- 25:22Dayna Roselli: He told me he had chills when they did their rehearsal the day before.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's exciting.
- 25:27Dayna Roselli: He said, I've never people were thinking we need to take you to the hospital.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: They thought I had a rash.
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: He said, because the hair was I had bumps all over my arms.
- 25:36Dayna Roselli: So he was funny.
- 25:37Dayna Roselli: Um, so it was a great, it was a great time and a great collaboration.
- 25:41Dayna Roselli: You can see some of our social media videos on our Vegas Revealed TikTok and also our Vegas Revealed Instagram.
- 25:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, that looked like it was a great night.
- 25:49Sean McAllister: Glad you got to be over there for that.
- 25:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was great.
- 25:52Sean McAllister: Uh, we have a big movie star who we've talked about living here uh in Las Vegas now.
- 25:57Sean McAllister: Mark Wahlberg is not only living here, he is working here very hard with multiple businesses, uh, but he's also bringing Hollywood to town and he's been filming a new movie called The Family Plan at locations all over Las Vegas.
- 26:15Sean McAllister: And it's kind of exciting that there have been so many Mark Wahlberg sightings while he's in production out at Strip Casinos.
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: Well, remember when he moved here, he had said he wanted Las Vegas to be more of what like a mini Hollywood right.
- 26:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, he wanted to bring production here.
- 26:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so now I love that he's shooting all around town.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: Uh, some locations we know that he did shoot, the Strat, uh, the plaza hotel casino downtown as well.
- 26:42Dayna Roselli: And then I think he was over at Aria and Bellagio, Caesars Palace, uh Hoover Dam, the Luxor Esports Arena.
- 26:50Dayna Roselli: So he's been all over shooting.
- 26:52Sean McAllister: That'll be fun.
- 26:52Sean McAllister: It'll be exciting to see what the movie's all about when that comes out.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: I was asking our friend John Caslamedes of the Review Journal, who was uh writing a column on this, and I think he said it's something to do with like he he used to be involved in some sort of I don't know if it's crime or money or whatever, and and then you know, realized he had a he has got a family, and then somehow he goes back to it.
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: Something sucks him back in.
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: Oh, I don't something like that, and that might not be absolutely correct the way that I said that.
- 27:25Dayna Roselli: So do not uh quote me on that, but something of that kind of thing.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: That it sounds pretty entertaining.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: It does.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: I would go see that for sure.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: All right, well, let's do some tips.
- 27:41Dayna Roselli: All right, first tip: a new restaurant, and that is a new restaurant that opened over at Red Rock.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: We know many of you love to visit Red Rock, it's out west, off the strip, a little bit of a drive, but folks that live over there in Summerlin always frequent Red Rock.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: It's the station casinos.
- 27:57Dayna Roselli: We um always talk about it because they have great restaurants, uh, great lounges.
- 28:03Dayna Roselli: It's a great casino.
- 28:04Dayna Roselli: They even have a wonderful ballroom area too.
- 28:07Dayna Roselli: And the hot and the hotel rooms are nice in the spa.
- 28:09Dayna Roselli: So they have like everything going for them.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: We love when they open new things.
- 28:12Dayna Roselli: And we had told you, um, I think like about a year ago that they were gonna start to open some new things.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: Some of the restaurants have been opened already.
- 28:23Dayna Roselli: The latest one is called Naxos Taverna, and they had a grand opening party, which was fabulous, Sean.
- 28:30Dayna Roselli: I went over there.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: You were busy, so I took, I took it on, I took on for two.
- 28:34Sean McAllister: Thank you.
- 28:35Sean McAllister: Thank you for repping for both of us.
- 28:37Dayna Roselli: Um, but they got an oyster bar too.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: It was a great party.
- 28:40Dayna Roselli: I just want to say the staff is just great.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: They are such nice people and so fun, and the way they interacted with the crowd, and they were bringing around all sorts of food.
- 28:49Dayna Roselli: The food was absolutely delicious, and I can tell they had like a hummus bar too.
- 28:53Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah, and like all sorts of stuff.
- 28:55Dayna Roselli: And obviously, we were just getting a sampling of the food, but I've seen people go there since it's been open too and doing some Insta stories, and the food does look really good, like the meals.
- 29:04Sean McAllister: Oh, I need to get over there.
- 29:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and they had the all the seafood out at the oyster bar.
- 29:09Dayna Roselli: Um, the drinks were great, and the space was nice too.
- 29:13Dayna Roselli: I mean, I think it's gonna really do well.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: It's a Mediterranean restaurant, and so a new addition over there at Red Rock.
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: If you want to go check it out, it is now open.
- 29:22Dayna Roselli: It's called Naxos Taverna.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: We need to go there for a proper meal, which we will.
- 29:27Dayna Roselli: But welcome to Red Rock and welcome to Las Vegas.
- 29:30Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 29:31Sean McAllister: I love what's going on over at Red Rock.
- 29:33Sean McAllister: They're kind of uh bringing some uh new things in over there, and it's making it just uh even more of a destination than it already was.
- 29:43Sean McAllister: Uh something else we have coming up, and a tip number two, uh NASCAR coming back to town.
- 29:49Sean McAllister: So we have two races per year now.
- 29:52Sean McAllister: We have a race in March and then a race later in the year during the fall.
- 29:58Sean McAllister: And this is the March race.
- 30:00Sean McAllister: I know it is upon us.
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: And the March race was the one that was there the whole time, right?
- 30:05Dayna Roselli: It was always in March, and then they added the fall one.
- 30:07Dayna Roselli: They added the fall.
- 30:08Dayna Roselli: So this is the race, the NASCAR race.
- 30:10Dayna Roselli: And it's um going to be on March 5th, which is a Sunday, but there's events all weekend, March 3rd to the 5th.
- 30:17Dayna Roselli: So it's coming right up.
- 30:18Dayna Roselli: And the Penzoil 400 race is the one that will be on Sunday.
- 30:22Dayna Roselli: That starts at 12 30 p.m.
- 30:23Dayna Roselli: If you want to get tickets, you can go to LVMS.com to up at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
- 30:29Dayna Roselli: Sean and I will be there because we realized when we went last time in the fall, hey, I'm into this.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: It was cool, right?
- 30:37Sean McAllister: It was so much fun to be there at the race.
- 30:42Sean McAllister: Uh it's just it's such a great time.
- 30:48Sean McAllister: The president of the motor speedway, Chris Powell, uh, we spent some time with him and his wife over there at the race.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: They're fantastic.
- 30:57Sean McAllister: So it's gonna be exciting to be back there at the speedway.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: Well, and Chris, when we talked to him on the podcast, was telling us that before we'd actually went to the recent race, he said, you know, there's nothing like seeing and being at NASCAR in person and watching a race live.
- 31:15Dayna Roselli: And he's right.
- 31:15Dayna Roselli: I mean, the thing is, is people do watch it on TV.
- 31:19Dayna Roselli: It's become a thing, you know, it's just like football on Sundays.
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: But and it's cool to see on TV, but to actually be in front of it and have the chance to be in front of it, it is so worth it, everyone.
- 31:28Dayna Roselli: I'm telling you, it's such a fun time.
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: They have the neon garage there, lots of different uh food items and attractions.
- 31:35Dayna Roselli: There's stuff to do all day.
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: And usually the weather's really, really nice.
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, I highly recommend it.
- 31:42Dayna Roselli: Um, I know you do too, Sean, because when we left that, we said, you know, we got to go to the next one, and we'll be there March 5th.
- 31:47Dayna Roselli: We're looking forward to it.
- 31:49Dayna Roselli: Um, if you go and you see us, say hello.
- 31:52Dayna Roselli: Again, it's LVMS.com.
- 31:55Sean McAllister: And by the way, Dana, I'm just looking up uh ticket prices right now for the Penzoil 400 uh that Sunday, and they start at$64.
- 32:04Sean McAllister: Great, which is uh an extremely affordable price for uh all day entertainment.
- 32:12Dayna Roselli: I mean, you can't beat really the seats.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, anywhere that you watch it is gonna be great.
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: You and I actually stood on the roof and watched last time.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and that was a great spot too.
- 32:23Dayna Roselli: So it doesn't matter like if you're not that close, you can hear it and you can feel it when they turn that corner.
- 32:29Dayna Roselli: And we got to see, I mean, I don't want to act excited about it, but we got to see a good fight.
- 32:33Sean McAllister: A good fight, I know.
- 32:35Dayna Roselli: That was random.
- 32:36Dayna Roselli: That was when that driver, and I forget their names, got out of the car and went toward the other guy.
- 32:41Dayna Roselli: Thought, oh my gosh, I've never seen this before, even on TV, but I'm sure it happens.
- 32:46Sean McAllister: It but not often.
- 32:47Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 32:47Sean McAllister: So that was one of those rare moments.
- 32:49Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, I wonder what this uh race will bring.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: So, again, check it out if you've never gone in person.
- 32:55Dayna Roselli: Now's your chance.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: I know that from the strip, if you're in town visiting or you come into town, I think they have like a bus route back and forth, a shuttle.
- 33:03Dayna Roselli: Um, so you can look up that.
- 33:04Dayna Roselli: Just Google it.
- 33:05Dayna Roselli: There's tons of information, especially on the website that I just mentioned.
- 33:09Dayna Roselli: And check out the Vegas Near Me app.
- 33:11Dayna Roselli: We told you it's now available for Google and iPhone.
- 33:16Dayna Roselli: So Android and iPhone, um, tons of events on there, tons of attractions, tons of places to go.
- 33:22Dayna Roselli: You can book an Uber.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: There's maps inside the hotel casinos.
- 33:25Dayna Roselli: It is a must-have.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: It's really starting to catch on.
- 33:27Dayna Roselli: I know people are using it and saying they're finding it very, very useful.
- 33:31Dayna Roselli: Click the link in our show notes and download the app for free.
- 33:35Sean McAllister: And we will be back with episode 158 of Vegas Reveal.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: The desert sky is cold, but then the odds will ride.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: Ryan on a Friday rental baby.
