- 0:58The Arise Women of God Podcast hello, and welcome to another episode of the Arise Woman of God podcast.
- 1:05I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:06Anderson, and joining me today is the absolutely amazing Tiffany Fletcher, a member of our Women warriors of Light Advisory board.
- 1:16And she is so amazingly talented in so many ways.
- 1:20And so we're blessed to have her with us as we're discussing the beautiful power of unceasing prayer.
- 1:27First, we're going to normalize daily repetitive prayer, as Tiffany shares one particular prayer she has offered every single day for years.
- 1:35Second, we're going to break down the Savior's parable of the unjust judge, ultimate proof that persistence is rewarded.
- 1:44And third, we're going to discuss the humanistic trap why we mistakenly project our own impatience on God.
- 1:53Finally, we're going to talk about the weight and the no, including Tiffany's personal thorn in the flesh story about a broken foot that wouldn't heal.
- 2:02But first, let's kick it off by saying the same prayer over and over.
- 2:06And does God get tired of hearing it?
- 2:09My humble opinion is no.
- 2:11I do not think that God ever gets tired of hearing our prayers.
- 2:15If he told us to forgive 70 times 7, I think that he's okay.
- 2:1970 times 7 with our prayers that are 70 times 7 too.
- 2:23I feel like, I mean, you look at these women like Hannah and who who prayed for a son for such a long time.
- 2:30You know, Rebecca, I think that God answered their prayers because they continue to trust that he would be there and answer them for for them.
- 2:40I.
- 2:41I feel like God loves us and he is very much invested in our lives and what matters to us, matters to Him.
- 2:51Even if we ask him 150 billion times, it still matters to Him.
- 2:57To be honest, I say the same prayer.
- 2:59One of the same prayers that I say every day is I ask Heavenly Father to protect my children as they leave the home.
- 3:05It is the same prayer every single day.
- 3:07Please protect my children.
- 3:08Surround him with angels.
- 3:09Keep him safe.
- 3:10Bring him home safe.
- 3:11Same prayer every single day that I prayed every year that I've been a mother every day.
- 3:16And God still continues to protect my children.
- 3:19And I'm grateful for that.
- 3:21And so I feel like God is very much willing to hear our prayers and he wants to answer them.
- 3:28Sometimes it's not in our timing, sometimes it's in his timing, but.
- 3:33And sometimes the answer is no.
- 3:35And that's okay, too.
- 3:36Isn't it great to know that he wants to hear from us, even the same request, year after year?
- 3:43But I found that prayer isn't just about getting what we want.
- 3:47It's about syncing our divine will up with his.
- 3:51Sometimes that process requires us coming back until our hearts are ready for the answer.
- 3:58Jesus actually taught a specific story to encourage this kind of persistence.
- 4:06I love the parable of the unjust judge and that, that widow that was so, so persistent.
- 4:13I think there's a lesson in that story for us too, that the widow just kept going back and going back and going back, and finally the judge is like, oh, just give her what she wants so she'll stop
- 4:26coming back and quit pestering me.
- 4:29So I love that also example where Jesus is basically teaching us, if.
- 4:35If an unjust judge will finally give someone who is persistent enough what they're asking for, how much more will God give what we need if we ask for it, even unceasingly?
- 4:49Right?
- 4:50So there's a lesson in that as well.
- 4:53If the bad judge listens, the good Father is definitely listening.
- 5:00Now Tiffany's going to dive into a major reason we feel like we're pestering God.
- 5:06We assume God gets cranky, just as we do when our kids ask for candy for the umpteenth time.
- 5:13I think sometimes we see God from a humanistic view, thinking that he has the same, like, impatience and, you know, tendencies that we have.
- 5:23I mean, you know, if we're a parent and our child comes over and over and over again asking for candy before dinner, we're.
- 5:30We're gonna get frustrated with that child.
- 5:33We may even lose our temper and we may ground them from candy for a week.
- 5:37I don't know.
- 5:37But.
- 5:38But God.
- 5:39God is not that way.
- 5:41Like, he does not have those humanistic tendencies, right?
- 5:45He loves us, and he is forever and always Patient with us.
- 5:50So even if we're asking and the answer is no, and we continue to ask, he will still be patient with us.
- 5:58He sees us as a.
- 5:59From a loving father perspective.
- 6:02And he.
- 6:03He is perfect.
- 6:04And I love how you said if an unjust judge can give.
- 6:08Like, like think about a perfect father, right?
- 6:12Like, none of us, we have never met a perfect father because no father is perfect.
- 6:17We are all mortal.
- 6:18And.
- 6:19But our heavenly Father is.
- 6:21He is so perfect and he is so loving and he is so patient and he is so kind with us.
- 6:28And yes, he may chase to nest once in a while and say, you know what?
- 6:31I already.
- 6:32I already told you no.
- 6:33So maybe ask a different question next time, you know, kind of thing.
- 6:37But he will do it in a loving and a kind way.
- 6:41And that is why he is our Father and that is why he is God.
- 6:47Because his patience is never ending and his love is all encompassing.
- 6:52And that is something that we need to understand when we come boldly to the throne of grace and.
- 6:58And we can come boldly to the throne of grace when we understand that he is grace and that he gives it freely to each and every one of us, no matter who we are or what prayer we pray.
- 7:09Isn't it wonderful to know that God's patience is infinite?
- 7:13But that doesn't mean that a yes comes immediately after every prayer.
- 7:18Sometimes persistence in prayer is meant to teach us something else, something deeper.
- 7:24And Tiffany's gonna dive into this by sharing about a personal, physical trial.
- 7:29The whole parable was taught to us so that we can remember that we should pray unceasingly.
- 7:34And that was the same prayer that that lady asked for.
- 7:37The same thing over and over and over again.
- 7:39And God is the same way.
- 7:40He.
- 7:41He wants us to pray.
- 7:43I think sometimes if we feel like we're not getting the answers that we want, maybe ask a different question or maybe ask God if the answer is no, and if it is, then move on, right?
- 7:54Like, sometimes the answer is no.
- 7:55I.
- 7:56I have a sore foot that I have been asking.
- 7:58I broke it a while ago and it still hurts to walk.
- 8:00And sometimes I'm like, God, please can you heal this?
- 8:04And I kind of got the same answer.
- 8:05I felt as.
- 8:06As Paul did.
- 8:07You know, this is keeping you humble, right?
- 8:09Like, this is.
- 8:09This is something that you don't need to be healed for.
- 8:12This is to teach you that you don't have to run faster than you have strength, right?
- 8:17Like.
- 8:18Like there's so many things.
- 8:19There's so many things that he's teaching me in not healing my foot so that I can walk as much as I want to and do all the things and, and that's okay.
- 8:30I think that we need to be willing to accept when the answer is no.
- 8:35But if we haven't, if God hasn't said, you know, your answer is no, keep asking, keep asking.
- 8:41Rebecca did, Hannah did, and eventually they were able to have a son.
- 8:45And I feel like that is the same for us, that we will be able to have the things that we desire because God loves us and he wants us to find joy in this life.
- 8:57And what matters to us, matters to Him.
- 8:59I really believe that.
- 9:00So, my friends, keep ringing the bell.
- 9:03God isn't checking his watch or rolling his eyes when you come to Him.
- 9:08He is a father who delights in hearing your voice happy or sad or frustrated.
- 9:16Whether you are asking for a miracle or just trying to sync your will up with his, your persistence is a beautiful act of trust.
