- 0:24Speaker 2: of goings on down there in the sash of his fedora.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Like he's crying.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Yeah, he always cries.
- 0:29Speaker 2: At the National sweats side of his eyes. He sweats
- 0:31Speaker 2: out of his eyes. He's at the medical turn a
- 0:33Speaker 2: game where two very little gas there. Josh has got
- 0:37Speaker 2: a great resume. He's just sitting.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I don't think he has a great He has a
- 0:41Speaker 4: great resume with Tom Brady.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Okay, well that's a pretty good resume. He's a great
- 0:44Speaker 2: quarterback of all time. But he didn't have it.
- 0:47Speaker 4: He didn't have anything to do with developing Tom Brady.
- 0:49Speaker 4: He became the offensive coordinator when Tom Brady had already
- 0:52Speaker 4: won three titles, and.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Then he had nothing to do with development. I don't
- 0:55Speaker 3: buy that. I don't buy that. And all right, he
- 0:56Speaker 3: was waiting tom Brady. It's two thousand and four, and
- 1:00Speaker 3: that was it. That was who he was. The rest
- 1:02Speaker 3: of the time.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Nothing changed in two thousand and five.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Nothing changed in two thousand and seven.
- 1:06Speaker 4: We have a chip in the ball. We can tell
- 1:08Speaker 4: definitively electronically whether or not Josh Allen got the food.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I thanks, you've been helpful.
- 1:15Speaker 2: All Right, we're gonna take a break because my food's here.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Mike brought a sandwich yet, Yeah, so good for Mike.
- 1:22Speaker 5: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,

- 1:30Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:34Speaker 2: at Jills Stadium. We got a big off season Thursday
- 1:38Speaker 2: show coming up. We got Paul, we got Duce, we
- 1:41Speaker 2: got alex In Tamara to what do we owe this?
- 1:45Speaker 6: Honor Tamara finally having a seat on the show because
- 1:48Speaker 6: Evan isn't here.
- 1:49Speaker 2: What are you talking about? During the season, he misses
- 1:52Speaker 2: the first twenty minutes because he's in the locker room.
- 1:54Speaker 6: So am I I.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Guess So okay, I guess you're with him? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 2: that's true.
- 2:00Speaker 6: Enough studio, the studio gets updated. There's couches in here,
- 2:05Speaker 6: but not enough for me. So out odd woman out.
- 2:09Speaker 2: But you could sit on an arm of a chair. Yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 2: stand behind us like Evan Dale in the corner. Again.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I'd give you my chair. I love this show.
- 2:16Speaker 7: I'm not I had to sit on an automan recently.
- 2:19Speaker 7: The lightning was terrible, exactly.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, recommend lighting.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Get me the r way.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Look at miss tan over here back from Guatemala. Sure,
- 2:27Speaker 2: I am at a wedding. Yep, how is that amazing?
- 2:31Speaker 7: I don't know if we have any Guatemalan listeners.
- 2:33Speaker 2: But what you're not disgruntled because you had to go
- 2:37Speaker 2: to a destination wedding this one.
- 2:39Speaker 8: No, because I don't think I was there for two weeks.
- 2:41Speaker 8: I don't think I spent one thousand.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Dollars two weeks.
- 2:44Speaker 7: Yeah, we did the first week in Antigua, Guatemala.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And you didn't spend one thousand dollars? Did you eat bugs?
- 2:50Speaker 9: No?
- 2:52Speaker 8: I ate rice and beans amazing, like these amazing hat
- 2:57Speaker 8: houses kill for made breakfast prepared by my Airbnb hosts
- 3:03Speaker 8: every day.
- 3:04Speaker 7: The food was amazing.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Oh that sounds really good.
- 3:06Speaker 8: We're up in the volcanoes and Antigua and it was
- 3:09Speaker 8: nice and didn't rain it all. And Antiga it was
- 3:12Speaker 8: like seventy five eighty every day and we're up in
- 3:16Speaker 8: the volcanoes.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So cool.
- 3:17Speaker 8: I saw volcano erupped. And then after the wedding we
- 3:20Speaker 8: went to this coastal city called Well, first we went
- 3:23Speaker 8: to mont Rico, but that wasn't the vibe, so then
- 3:25Speaker 8: we went to put it On. It's a little like
- 3:29Speaker 8: surf town on the Pacific. Bunch of German and Dutch
- 3:32Speaker 8: surfer nomads lived it up. It was incredible. I cannot
- 3:36Speaker 8: wait to go back to Guatemala.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Wow, that's cool.
- 3:38Speaker 7: But yeah, I had a wedding down there. Shut out
- 3:40Speaker 7: my friends Betsy.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Was there a beach?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Like?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Is there beaches there are?
- 3:44Speaker 7: Yep, it's on you have the Pacific Ocean on one.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Side on the beach. Like, do they have drink service?
- 3:51Speaker 8: Well, it wasn't really a resort I was at, but
- 3:53Speaker 8: we definitely drank on the beach.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Okay, but you just got to go to the liquor
- 3:56Speaker 6: store t get out there byo b Yeah, that's how you.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Don't spend a thousand dollars.
- 4:00Speaker 7: Yeah, I be well like ubers four dollars.
- 4:05Speaker 2: We safe.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I felt safe everywhere I was for sure. I
- 4:09Speaker 8: mean Antiquo's UNESCO World Heritage Site, So there's Mayan ruins,
- 4:14Speaker 8: there's it's a huge tourist destination.
- 4:18Speaker 7: So yeah, I felt super safe.
- 4:19Speaker 8: We were leavings, we were leaving the bars late at night,
- 4:23Speaker 8: walking through the cobblestone streets, no issues.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Nice And how was the wedding itself?
- 4:28Speaker 7: Best wedding ever?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:30Speaker 7: It was great.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yeah, they're going to go the distance there.
- 4:32Speaker 7: I think they will. I think they will.
- 4:34Speaker 8: It was up like in the mountains too, so you're
- 4:36Speaker 8: just the venues outside surrounded by all the volcanoes.
- 4:40Speaker 3: What did you do for your wedding? I was like,
- 4:42Speaker 3: it wasn't anything like this, like the volcanoes erupting while
- 4:44Speaker 3: they're saying they're vows guys.
- 4:46Speaker 2: At the VFW. Nice.
- 4:48Speaker 4: I yelled at Fred for watching NFL playoff games during
- 4:51Speaker 4: my wedding giving me, so did his wife.
- 4:55Speaker 2: So everybody behaved like, you know, the the speech is okay.
- 5:00Speaker 7: The speeches were fine.
- 5:02Speaker 8: It's actually funny because I was a bridesmaid in this wedding,
- 5:06Speaker 8: and I've been a bridesmaid more times than I can
- 5:09Speaker 8: count in the last two years, never the maid of honor.
- 5:12Speaker 8: So like all my good friends have like sisters or
- 5:15Speaker 8: someone else. However, I still find myself writing all these
- 5:19Speaker 8: made of honor speeches.
- 5:20Speaker 4: So it's why because professional writer.
- 5:24Speaker 7: People enlist in my help.
- 5:26Speaker 8: So I actually was sitting there at our table, the
- 5:29Speaker 8: table I was adds a bunch of friends from college.
- 5:31Speaker 8: We all stayed together the two weeks, like eight of us,
- 5:34Speaker 8: and I'm like, I've written so many wedding speeches and
- 5:37Speaker 8: my friends are playing themselves, not having me just give one.
- 5:40Speaker 8: It'd be the best one ever. And I'm saying this
- 5:44Speaker 8: real friend and Billy who are getting married in August,
- 5:47Speaker 8: and they're just kind of like looking at each other.
- 5:49Speaker 7: And I didn't think anything of it.
- 5:51Speaker 8: But then at the end of the trip, the last day,
- 5:53Speaker 8: they gave me a card asking me to officiate their wedding.
- 5:56Speaker 8: Oh wow, gotta get ordained. But yeah, it was funny
- 6:02Speaker 8: because I was just talking so much crap about all
- 6:04Speaker 8: the bridesmaid and grooms and speeches.
- 6:07Speaker 7: You hear, like the.
- 6:08Speaker 8: For those of the who don't know me, my name
- 6:11Speaker 8: is Jane. I was roommates with the bride in college.
- 6:16Speaker 8: If you had told me I would be here today,
- 6:19Speaker 8: I never would have. Like, you know, we've all had
- 6:21Speaker 8: through those, so shout out my friends Anna and Billy.
- 6:26Speaker 8: They're gonna have like a real proper speech as they
- 6:30Speaker 8: get married, and ah no, we're never that, okay, shout
- 6:40Speaker 8: out to my friend Janelle.
- 6:41Speaker 7: I actually didn't write her speech. She gave it herself.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 6:45Speaker 6: She went Rogue the first name I could think of, because.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Is it tough when she gets like four page she
- 6:53Speaker 3: stands up with like four pages and you're.
- 6:55Speaker 7: Like, oh boy, no, you know what kills me is
- 6:56Speaker 7: the iPhone?
- 6:57Speaker 4: The phone?
- 6:58Speaker 8: I like on a nice peace of like I like
- 7:01Speaker 8: dock Cart or something. On the wedding pictures.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I like it when it's like the best friend or
- 7:06Speaker 2: a sister and then you know, they start talking and
- 7:09Speaker 2: then they start crying and then people go, oh.
- 7:12Speaker 8: Come on yeah, Or when the groomsman like makes it
- 7:15Speaker 8: all about himself being more handsome than the groom.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah, talking about past hookups.
- 7:19Speaker 7: Or that cute.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I just don't. I just don't like weddings. They're a
- 7:24Speaker 2: waste of time. We have time to do a private
- 7:28Speaker 2: ceremony and then have a party, and then I enjoy weddings.
- 7:31Speaker 4: But I would agree generally with Fred that I think
- 7:34Speaker 4: you get invited to too many of them. That you
- 7:37Speaker 4: shouldn't really be like if they're you a family or
- 7:39Speaker 4: really close friends. I love that wedding, yeah, but I
- 7:42Speaker 4: think people in general it's too many.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I'm in like the never area though, Like you go
- 7:47Speaker 3: to a lot of weddings, like late twenties, early thirties,
- 7:49Speaker 3: and then you hit that kind of and then you
- 7:51Speaker 3: get like maybe a second wedding, which is always now all.
- 7:54Speaker 4: You got, you just got your kids, get your kids
- 7:56Speaker 4: and stuff.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Now all right, Well, people wedding fucking weddings. Let's let's
- 8:02Speaker 2: talk some football talk, some senior bow. Yeah, senior bowl.
- 8:05Speaker 2: We got Evan down there, I hope everybody's when reading
- 8:08Speaker 2: his updates on Patriots dot com. Yeah, a lot of
- 8:12Speaker 2: good information.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, good stuff talk.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Seems to be some pretty good depth down there.
- 8:17Speaker 4: So yeah, he gets some stuff from Rabel that I
- 8:19Speaker 4: found encouraging. Of course, I was smacked around for being
- 8:22Speaker 4: encouraged by it when I was on my show, Yees Patriots,
- 8:26Speaker 4: But I do I do think that the coach that
- 8:28Speaker 4: Evan got from Rabel, specifically about McDaniels, I think are
- 8:33Speaker 4: alleviating some of my concerns. And I called them small
- 8:36Speaker 4: sea concerns. Anyway, kind of like the Celtics, Alex I
- 8:39Speaker 4: have some small sea concerns there and we'll get to
- 8:41Speaker 4: that later. McDaniels my only one. My only fear of
- 8:47Speaker 4: McDaniels is that it's more of the same and sort
- 8:51Speaker 4: of locked in the past. I thought some of the
- 8:53Speaker 4: things that Rabel said about McDaniel's being willing to listen
- 8:57Speaker 4: to other voices.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I think that's.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Why probably Thomas Brown is here, who comes off that
- 9:02Speaker 4: McVeigh tree incorporating some quarterback runs RPOs that Evan talked
- 9:08Speaker 4: about that Rabel said that that that is all part
- 9:11Speaker 4: of the picture that has me a little bit more
- 9:13Speaker 4: excited about. Yeah, I mean the direction of the offense.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I mean, he'd really have to be kind of, I
- 9:20Speaker 2: don't know, really really closed minded. I'm talking about McDaniels
- 9:24Speaker 2: to come in here and expect that I can just
- 9:27Speaker 2: run a Tom Brady offense with Drake May. That would
- 9:32Speaker 2: He's smarter than that, right, he just so let's just
- 9:34Speaker 2: give him more credit than that, you know for those people. Oh,
- 9:38Speaker 2: it's gonna be the whole thing. Like he's a smart guy.
- 9:42Speaker 2: He knows what he has and Drake May he knows
- 9:44Speaker 2: he has to adjust and take advantage of his talent.
- 9:48Speaker 2: So let's you know, let's hold off on the you
- 9:52Speaker 2: know the place is burning down critique before we see.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Was Yeah, I feel like you'd be doing your He'd
- 9:59Speaker 6: be doing hisself a service to come in here and
- 10:01Speaker 6: try to do the same thing that he tried to
- 10:02Speaker 6: do with Tom Brady or even the same thing that
- 10:04Speaker 6: he tried to do with Mac Jones. Like these are
- 10:06Speaker 6: totally different quarterbacks. The game has changed. You have to
- 10:09Speaker 6: come in here and be able to adapt.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:11Speaker 3: He spent the whole lot of season just playing pickleball,
- 10:13Speaker 3: like just holding this playbook, like who wants me? I'm
- 10:15Speaker 3: ready to go. I got it, you know, like he
- 10:17Speaker 3: he hopefully evolved. I mean, I think some of the
- 10:19Speaker 3: questions though, is I think specifically, we've talked a lot
- 10:21Speaker 3: about the run game, and you know, that was the
- 10:23Speaker 3: big thing twenty twenty two. We're going to the wide zone,
- 10:27Speaker 3: We're going to run a lot more of this doesn't
- 10:28Speaker 3: really fit the personnel. I think the big piece of
- 10:30Speaker 3: Josh's offense was more power schemes and probably fits their
- 10:34Speaker 3: personnel a little bit better. Maybe fits for Mondra Stevenson
- 10:36Speaker 3: a little better. So I think That's where I'm curious
- 10:39Speaker 3: what kind of changes. I mean, I think Paul listed
- 10:41Speaker 3: the obvious ones of our po's mobile quarterback stuff. Sure,
- 10:45Speaker 3: but what what's the base run it's going to look like?
- 10:47Speaker 3: You know, is a fullback going to come back or
- 10:48Speaker 3: are they going to try to go get a block?
- 10:50Speaker 3: Those kind of things.
- 10:51Speaker 4: You know, is that youercentuate the positive.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well there's a base right. I mean that he's
- 10:55Speaker 3: not going to totally change everything. All this terminology is
- 10:58Speaker 3: not going to be different. There's probably core tenant he
- 11:00Speaker 3: still truly believes in, but you know, you can package it.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Paul wants to hear it. Yeah, we're not going to
- 11:04Speaker 2: be running the ball this year. Finally how you run
- 11:10Speaker 2: the ball.
- 11:10Speaker 4: And I think Mike is right. They're probably going to
- 11:13Speaker 4: go back to gap, power full back and hat on
- 11:16Speaker 4: a hat.
- 11:17Speaker 6: Yeah, it's interesting that due bread up the running backs.
- 11:19Speaker 6: I was just talking to Alex this morning when we
- 11:21Speaker 6: were getting ready in the locker room, and I was saying,
- 11:24Speaker 6: Ramondre Stevenson, you know, he got that big contract and
- 11:27Speaker 6: he wasn't utilized appropriately this season, and also he didn't
- 11:30Speaker 6: perform that well his season, so I'm not going to
- 11:32Speaker 6: put it all on the coaches and say like that
- 11:34Speaker 6: it's their fault while he fumbled as many times as
- 11:36Speaker 6: he did. But it'd be nice to see Ramondre Stevenson
- 11:39Speaker 6: get back to his old ways and be the running
- 11:42Speaker 6: back that they signed and extended.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, prior to this year was fumbling an issue with Remondre.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I mean the first I mean, out of the gate
- 11:50Speaker 3: it little bit.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Obviously this was bad.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I think it was what like a couple fumbles early
- 11:55Speaker 3: on his hair and then the spotlight.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Well, that's right, early on, that's right, that's right. Bill's
- 12:00Speaker 2: at him and we were mad because he sat him.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Well they sat him for as long as he can,
- 12:04Speaker 2: right exactly. Yeah, Yeah, but yeah, it so we've got
- 12:08Speaker 2: to figure that out. Yeah, whether it's the Kevin Fowk
- 12:12Speaker 2: elbow sleeve or whatever it is, he's gotta do something.
- 12:16Speaker 3: He's gotta do the thing from the program, like you
- 12:17Speaker 3: gonna be walking around with the ball. Actually, wasn't that
- 12:19Speaker 3: a Damien Harris joke? I think when he was here,
- 12:21Speaker 3: Damien Harris was talking about the movie The Program that
- 12:23Speaker 3: the character famously fumbles and then has to walk around
- 12:25Speaker 3: school holding the ball the whole time and everybody's always
- 12:27Speaker 3: trying to get it out. But I don't know what
- 12:29Speaker 3: the answer is with that. I don't know. I mean,
- 12:30Speaker 3: you you brought up that Kevin Falk thing like, which
- 12:33Speaker 3: I think could be almost as much mental as it
- 12:35Speaker 3: is actually physically helping hold the ball. It's like I
- 12:37Speaker 3: got my pad now I'm never gonna fumble.
- 12:39Speaker 2: But whatever it takes.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a I mean then, you know, and to
- 12:42Speaker 3: tie it into the Senior Bowl and some of the
- 12:43Speaker 3: draft stuff. It's supposed to be a pretty good running
- 12:46Speaker 3: back class, so you know, maybe they consider some other
- 12:48Speaker 3: guys just his depth. I mean, you know, you don't
- 12:50Speaker 3: necessarily need a guy or depth or not if it
- 12:53Speaker 3: doesn't work out, you know, to have a little bit
- 12:55Speaker 3: of you know, just somebody you like and maybe it doesn't,
- 12:57Speaker 3: you know, day three kind of thing, and you're taking
- 12:58Speaker 3: a flyer. But if it's a deep last it might
- 13:00Speaker 3: be worth doing that and investing in somebody else.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yep, I agree. I think, you know, I would take
- 13:06Speaker 2: a running back in fifth or sixth round or sure,
- 13:09Speaker 2: you know.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I mean that's what's hard. You talk about what you
- 13:11Speaker 3: need and then you start to hear as the you know,
- 13:13Speaker 3: Daniel Jeremiah put out his top fifty prospects, and you
- 13:16Speaker 3: start to get a sense of the class and where
- 13:19Speaker 3: there's depth, and you know it's it might not be
- 13:21Speaker 3: what you need, but we always talk about, but maybe
- 13:24Speaker 3: you take one of those guys because that's where the
- 13:26Speaker 3: good players are this year, and you know, worry about
- 13:28Speaker 3: filling the holes elsewhere, or at least know that going
- 13:30Speaker 3: in with free agency and saying, you know, like there
- 13:33Speaker 3: isn't a lot of great position X, let's let's really
- 13:35Speaker 3: try to target that in free agency.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there's not a lot of like high high end
- 13:42Speaker 2: depth when it comes to offensive tackle, but it seems like,
- 13:47Speaker 2: you know, there's some later round guys that might be
- 13:49Speaker 2: worth picking up and some guys with like amazing measurables.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the kid from BC's a monster.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah was he six seven fifty or something like that,
- 13:59Speaker 2: But they say he moves around really well.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Like one hundred and fifty of us just in his
- 14:02Speaker 3: head alone. His head is just like it's bigger than
- 14:04Speaker 3: me and Andy's combline.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Probably we played against him actually in high school. Will
- 14:10Speaker 4: Will did Will's freshman year.
- 14:12Speaker 2: He's a good player.
- 14:12Speaker 4: That's Steve Trapilo's kid.
- 14:14Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 14:14Speaker 4: If you know BC. Yeah, he's a good player. Ozzie Trapillo,
- 14:22Speaker 4: I don't. I don't think he's necessarily someone that the
- 14:25Speaker 4: Patriots are going to be looking at to plug and play.
- 14:27Speaker 4: I don't think that's the kind of.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Player he is.
- 14:29Speaker 4: But he had a better day, I guess from what
- 14:32Speaker 4: everything I read yesterday. The first day he struggled a
- 14:34Speaker 4: little bit. Yesterday he was better.
- 14:36Speaker 2: The kid.
- 14:38Speaker 4: That seems to be getting all the attention is the guard,
- 14:41Speaker 4: the interior guy from North Dakota State. Yep, he seems
- 14:44Speaker 4: like he's been one of the best players there period,
- 14:47Speaker 4: regardless of position.
- 14:49Speaker 2: There's also another one from Kentucky.
- 14:51Speaker 3: I think, yeah, Deontay God, I'm blanking on his last name.
- 14:55Speaker 3: It'll come to you in a second. But yeah, he's
- 14:56Speaker 3: a monster too. But I think he's another one who
- 14:59Speaker 3: it's not like Jordan Davis where you have Walker is
- 15:02Speaker 3: his nast name, Dana Walker, you know where where Jordan
- 15:05Speaker 3: Davis was like not only a freak size wise, but
- 15:08Speaker 3: he also moved pretty well. And I think this kid's
- 15:10Speaker 3: a little bit more raw. I don't know. I wonder
- 15:13Speaker 3: I just again, going back to the defensive transition, how
- 15:15Speaker 3: much are you going to focus on that? What do
- 15:17Speaker 3: you think about Christian Barmore. I think that position is
- 15:19Speaker 3: vital to what they're going to do to have a
- 15:21Speaker 3: guy who can get up feel like Christian Barmore can.
- 15:23Speaker 3: It's just ken Christian Barmore. I want to do it.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I wonder going to, you know, on Barmore if the
- 15:28Speaker 2: team has information now like no, no, he's gonna be fine.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So that's a good point, totally wondering what they know. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:36Speaker 2: because maybe you can't know anything and it's just impossible
- 15:39Speaker 2: until he goes through certain treatment. But I just wonder
- 15:42Speaker 2: how much information they have and what they are preparing
- 15:45Speaker 2: for in that interior.
- 15:46Speaker 3: And I was shown tomorrow my my nerd depth chart,
- 15:48Speaker 3: and I was like, so, Christian Barmore is a little
- 15:52Speaker 3: like I like, I kind of have him in like Gray.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Do feign interest when Mike shows you his dorky chart.
- 16:00Speaker 6: He printed one out just for me, and so now
- 16:02Speaker 6: I have one at my desk.
- 16:03Speaker 4: So you actually are interested for reference.
- 16:05Speaker 2: So I'm the only one that's interested because you know,
- 16:08Speaker 2: I've said it before. I'm intrigued by this Mason Graham
- 16:11Speaker 2: kid from from me. He's a good player for you,
- 16:13Speaker 2: and some of the mock drafts have him going as
- 16:15Speaker 2: low as number seven. So if you can move down
- 16:17Speaker 2: a little bit, get him and then pick somebody else
- 16:20Speaker 2: up later in the first I mean that would be
- 16:23Speaker 2: I would be open to that.
- 16:24Speaker 4: I think him and Carter, I mean, Carter would be
- 16:27Speaker 4: my top choice. But those two guys, Oh yeah, Abdue Carter,
- 16:32Speaker 4: it's matter. Oh sorry Carter.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Sorry, he's gone, Paul, get over it, Abdul, Carter's going
- 16:40Speaker 3: in the top three.
- 16:41Speaker 6: You guys want to go defense with first pick.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Well, if it's like this, Mason Graham seems to be
- 16:46Speaker 2: a blue chipper.
- 16:46Speaker 4: I'm trying to figure out who the best player is
- 16:49Speaker 4: because really they need everything, you know. I'm just looking
- 16:52Speaker 4: at a scroll right now. It has Travis Hunter, yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 4: you know, tied to the Patriots at four. I don't
- 16:57Speaker 4: know who's Jeremy.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I could get am and then pick later on the
- 17:02Speaker 2: next pick a tackle who's actually played tackle like that
- 17:06Speaker 2: would be a good pickup.
- 17:07Speaker 6: Are you are you leaning heavier towards best player available
- 17:11Speaker 6: or your biggest need.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Best player available unless it's a quarterback or.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Unless it's a position. Why I always push back it,
- 17:20Speaker 4: you know, like, you know, the teams are get in
- 17:22Speaker 4: trouble that picked for need. No teams get in trouble
- 17:25Speaker 4: by picking bad players.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Unless it's Travis Hunter, do you know what I mean?
- 17:28Speaker 6: So Travis Hunter is an exception.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Cornerback, I would take Travis Hunter.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean also Daniel Jeremiah. He has Will
- 17:36Speaker 3: Campbell listed as a tackle too, So I mean we'll
- 17:38Speaker 3: get the arm measurables, which everyone is very curious to.
- 17:41Speaker 3: But I don't know that pick might make the most
- 17:44Speaker 3: sense if you think he can play tackle and you
- 17:46Speaker 3: really believe it that that guy. I also think, like
- 17:49Speaker 3: I just like his kind of presence and his personality,
- 17:52Speaker 3: and it seems kind of like it will be in
- 17:54Speaker 3: line with what.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Number four I can't be. I think he can play tackle, right,
- 17:58Speaker 2: That's that's my yeah, right, we cannot accept that whoever
- 18:03Speaker 2: we pick it for, we know he can play the
- 18:05Speaker 2: position that we're drafting him to play. Yeah, you know,
- 18:08Speaker 2: I agree.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, there's there's some risk there, but there also is
- 18:11Speaker 3: I mean, if you reach or if you miss on McMillan,
- 18:15Speaker 3: you know, and and he just can't play wide receiver,
- 18:17Speaker 3: there's not I mean, at least if you miss on
- 18:19Speaker 3: Campbell as a tackle, you kind of have a backup
- 18:21Speaker 3: plan or he'll probably be a really good guard. And
- 18:23Speaker 3: I know it's not what you need, but at least
- 18:24Speaker 3: it's not nik Kill Harry Worth. The guy just can't
- 18:27Speaker 3: play and there's nothing we can.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Do with them. If you pick McMillan and he's nik Kil.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Harry, then there's something we'll be having a coaching search again.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Or at least a person else there.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Right, But Mason Graham's appealing to me. I mean, it's
- 18:41Speaker 3: but I just again, like I think with the defense,
- 18:44Speaker 3: there's so many needs and if you have Devon Godshaw
- 18:47Speaker 3: and Christian Barmore, those are kind of your guys inside,
- 18:50Speaker 3: you know, and that's and and then no, not you know,
- 18:52Speaker 3: nothing against Mason Graham. I mean, I think I'd be
- 18:54Speaker 3: excited to have him, And certainly if they have questions
- 18:56Speaker 3: about Barmore, I think it makes a lot of sense
- 18:59Speaker 3: because that's what they need. They lost a lot of
- 19:01Speaker 3: games up front. Even if he's a third defensive tackle
- 19:03Speaker 3: and rotational and he's on passing downs like he could
- 19:05Speaker 3: be a sure thing.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I just liked the idea of just this dominant
- 19:09Speaker 2: interior line that is constantly pushing the pocket and getting
- 19:13Speaker 2: the quarterback off schedule.
- 19:14Speaker 4: And if Godchaw stays, he's not going to be here
- 19:17Speaker 4: much longer, you know, another year, maybe two tops. You know,
- 19:21Speaker 4: Vrabel might identify him as one of those veteran guys
- 19:24Speaker 4: he wants to keep. You know, I don't know if
- 19:26Speaker 4: he has any kind of past relationship with him, but
- 19:30Speaker 4: he's a guy that he could be here, and I
- 19:32Speaker 4: think it's fifty to fifty.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Yeah, do you think it's the same for Dietrich Wise.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I think he's he's probably less than fifty fifth because
- 19:39Speaker 4: he's actually a free agent. Yeah, so I think Jonathan
- 19:42Speaker 4: Jones ditrich Wise, I could see them both moving on.
- 19:46Speaker 2: And then we had some news some coaching people leaving,
- 19:52Speaker 2: Brian Belichick and Tellegrino leaving, so cornerback in safety. And
- 19:58Speaker 2: then they hired or reportedly hired uh the guy from
- 20:03Speaker 2: Uh where did he come from?
- 20:05Speaker 4: Buffalo?
- 20:06Speaker 2: Buffalo?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Right, it's like a nickelback coach.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Nickelback coach, but it's not getting too specialized.
- 20:13Speaker 3: And also what an assistant head coach? I got his
- 20:15Speaker 3: name right here. Sorry, Kevin Richardson was not the one
- 20:18Speaker 3: or Bookers.
- 20:19Speaker 2: And if people are wondering, you know, why aren't they
- 20:21Speaker 2: official announcing these things. I think the plan is they
- 20:24Speaker 2: announced the coordinators together, and I think the plan is
- 20:27Speaker 2: for all these assistant coaches to do one big announcement
- 20:30Speaker 2: once they have the staff, rather than a whole bunch
- 20:32Speaker 2: of announcements every day.
- 20:34Speaker 3: And still no receiver coach or you know, someone who
- 20:36Speaker 3: could possibly be the receiver coach.
- 20:38Speaker 2: And that's interesting. We haven't heard anything about Troy Brown.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I know he wasn't rest.
- 20:43Speaker 6: Like last year. We didn't really hear about him either.
- 20:46Speaker 6: He's kind of like a he's still here, but like.
- 20:48Speaker 3: His role wasn't say any of those guys like, I
- 20:52Speaker 3: don't know any of them really, you know really but no, no,
- 20:55Speaker 3: I'm not saying that they have been wide receivers coaches
- 20:57Speaker 3: in the past.
- 20:57Speaker 4: I'm saying, is there any chance that any of these
- 20:59Speaker 4: offense assistants could be working with wide receiver I don't
- 21:02Speaker 4: know any of these guys.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I mean maybe maybe that's one of the things that
- 21:05Speaker 2: they want to do, is like get all the titles
- 21:07Speaker 2: squared away.
- 21:08Speaker 4: It definitely seems the guys that they they I don't
- 21:12Speaker 4: really the guys they hired on defense we're all rabel ties.
- 21:16Speaker 4: The offensive guys, I don't really know a whole lot about,
- 21:20Speaker 4: you know, so I can't really like sort of exactly.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I don't really see it. I mean, you know, Ashton
- 21:24Speaker 3: Grant and Riley Larkin both seem like they're going to be,
- 21:27Speaker 3: you know, quarterback guys. Moron and Hoteling are offensive line guys.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Thomas Brown has kind of been reported as a tight
- 21:34Speaker 3: end pass game guy, unless maybe he's a wide I mean,
- 21:36Speaker 3: maybe he could do it. And then Tony dus is
- 21:38Speaker 3: pretty clearly a running back coach. So those all of
- 21:41Speaker 3: those ones seem like they're yeah, you know, I don't know.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I think it's still a hole and we'll see. It's
- 21:48Speaker 3: i mean, really obviously a really interesting position that we're
- 21:50Speaker 3: all kind of interested in.
- 21:52Speaker 2: When do you think like by a certain time you
- 21:56Speaker 2: would hope that they'd have these things. I mean, in
- 21:58Speaker 2: the past, we wouldn't find out titles for assistant coaches
- 22:02Speaker 2: until August, by the combine. By the combine.
- 22:09Speaker 8: When did we have that little new coach mixer last
- 22:12Speaker 8: year and everyone was in It.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Was in February vacation. Because I was not here for it.
- 22:16Speaker 4: I was away.
- 22:18Speaker 2: That's why I'm picking that, but maybe, and you know.
- 22:22Speaker 4: There's also a possibility that there's still a guy that's coaching,
- 22:28Speaker 4: you know, you know, like the Saints head coach job
- 22:31Speaker 4: hasn't been filled yet a lot of people think Kellen
- 22:33Speaker 4: Moore might get it, but they have to wait, so
- 22:35Speaker 4: he's still obviously working. Yeah, and you mentioned Pellegrino and
- 22:41Speaker 4: Brian Belichick just this morning. I think on Twitter, DeMarcus
- 22:46Speaker 4: Covington is going to Green Bay as the defensive line coach.
- 22:50Speaker 4: So there's another I mean, we all knew that these
- 22:53Speaker 4: guys weren't going to be back.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I think Bay, I think it's really good for him,
- 22:58Speaker 3: I mean everybody. I think the pression I got last
- 23:00Speaker 3: year was that, you know, he might have been a
- 23:02Speaker 3: little bit unprepared to be the full DC, but that
- 23:05Speaker 3: he was an excellent defensive line coach.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Theme of last year.
- 23:09Speaker 3: But it's funny how it's funny how it were though,
- 23:11Speaker 3: because I was prepared two years ago Jerry Montgomery was
- 23:14Speaker 3: the Packers defensive line coach and then he came here
- 23:16Speaker 3: and was now DeMarcus coming is going back there. So
- 23:19Speaker 3: it's always just always you know, what do you call it?
- 23:24Speaker 3: What's that game?
- 23:24Speaker 7: With the chairs G.
- 23:29Speaker 4: It is funny too, like around the league, how that happens.
- 23:33Speaker 4: And you know I saw that, did Salah go back
- 23:37Speaker 4: to San Francisco? Yes, d C right, And then they
- 23:40Speaker 4: had Nick Sorranson last year who replaced Steve Wilkes. Steve
- 23:45Speaker 4: Wilkes got the Jets DC job. I think.
- 23:48Speaker 2: So it's like.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Everybody's not happy with the guy they had, and then
- 23:52Speaker 4: everybody is excited to get the guy that.
- 23:54Speaker 2: You didn't want.
- 23:55Speaker 3: And that's just nobody perfect. And that's why it's so
- 23:57Speaker 3: easy for like your shows to just you know, every
- 24:00Speaker 3: but he's got baggage. At this point, they're either completely
- 24:02Speaker 3: unproven or they got bags.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Mike's got some beef with the with my shows.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I just doesn't, Well, who are the two guys that
- 24:10Speaker 3: they would have liked better than Josh McDaniels, guys, tants,
- 24:13Speaker 3: guys right from the.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Minnesota and so rams I've been pretty open. I I
- 24:19Speaker 4: wanted someone off the McVeigh tree. I'm willing to say
- 24:21Speaker 4: that that's Thomas Brown until I find out that he
- 24:24Speaker 4: can't coach.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Don't we just get Josh a stylist that.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Get him and get him?
- 24:31Speaker 8: He looks great also like.
- 24:38Speaker 2: The fashion hair color, like a lot of product jel.
- 24:44Speaker 8: Like on the top, Lululemon, joggers helping, and maybe a
- 24:50Speaker 8: medium size shirt but they're really a large.
- 24:55Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 24:55Speaker 4: They're called mediums.
- 24:56Speaker 7: It put the order and I'll go today.
- 24:59Speaker 2: I show up in a T shirt and a big
- 25:01Speaker 2: head would be like, you couldn't get a shirt to fit?
- 25:04Speaker 4: Trust introduce her. Matt has informed us that we have
- 25:07Speaker 4: some new listeners that aren't necessarily up to date with
- 25:12Speaker 4: our lingo. Okay, so you might be hearing tight pants
- 25:17Speaker 4: guy and thinking what are they talking about? It's not
- 25:20Speaker 4: literally a tight like a guy who wears tight it
- 25:23Speaker 4: is it's a mindset of minds of offense. It's a
- 25:28Speaker 4: new wave of offense.
- 25:29Speaker 7: Because are directly correlated to your ability to coach.
- 25:34Speaker 4: So I just want people that might be new to
- 25:37Speaker 4: the show to not think that I'm being superficial and
- 25:40Speaker 4: wanting a change to the offense because I don't like
- 25:43Speaker 4: the way looks, but.
- 25:45Speaker 11: Because that has nothing to do but came from guys
- 25:48Speaker 11: my coaches, buff But it came from guys like you
- 25:52Speaker 11: know McVeigh in with the Rams, who like started bringing
- 25:57Speaker 11: in this new wave offense and all these guys were
- 26:00Speaker 11: young guys who seem to wear type pants like these
- 26:03Speaker 11: sport pants, like the stretchy sport pants, and their staff
- 26:07Speaker 11: would all wear it as well.
- 26:08Speaker 2: And so you see all these guys, you know, kind
- 26:10Speaker 2: of you know, well built guys in shape, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 2: not your typical coaches that we've seen in the past.
- 26:16Speaker 2: These are like the new age guys, and so type
- 26:20Speaker 2: pants came from that.
- 26:22Speaker 4: But to me, it's symbolic of a style like if
- 26:25Speaker 4: Alex van Pelt ran the Sean McVay system, I'd have
- 26:27Speaker 4: been perfectly fine with Alex van Pelt, right, and he
- 26:30Speaker 4: is not.
- 26:30Speaker 3: A not a tight pants guy, So just get real.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Back to my fella grim Mass thing. It was just,
- 26:36Speaker 3: you know, they're saying that, and all I'm seeing is
- 26:38Speaker 3: the other side of the street. I'm like, oh, so
- 26:40Speaker 3: the quarterbacks coach who got fourteen good games out of
- 26:43Speaker 3: Sam Darnold, that that's the guy, that's the answer, that's
- 26:45Speaker 3: what you would feel great about. You'd feel better about him,
- 26:48Speaker 3: which is just the unknown, I get it. But it's
- 26:50Speaker 3: also the like anger, you you want the box it's got,
- 26:53Speaker 3: you got a burden a hand, or you got one
- 26:55Speaker 3: like I don't know what that one is. Like, you know,
- 26:57Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels, you kind of know what it is. I
- 26:58Speaker 3: get it, yep. But it's also that intrigue of like, well,
- 27:01Speaker 3: maybe he's awesome, but at the end of the day,
- 27:03Speaker 3: the guy just coached Sam Donald for like, fort got
- 27:05Speaker 3: a good fourteen good games out of him, and then
- 27:06Speaker 3: he kind of regressed to the mean and looked like
- 27:08Speaker 3: Sam Donald the other point, which which I just I
- 27:11Speaker 3: don't know if I'm I don't know if I'm angry enough.
- 27:13Speaker 3: You have to Paul to bake this angry.
- 27:15Speaker 2: That's why I'm just letting it. But I'm gonna start.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I'm gonna start with you. I'm gonna start with a
- 27:19Speaker 3: with a not tip to you. You know, went a
- 27:21Speaker 3: little bit back into Josh at the Rams, and I'm like,
- 27:24Speaker 3: that was pretty bad. I mean, you know, and and
- 27:25Speaker 3: and Bradford was pretty good the year before. But the
- 27:28Speaker 3: other thing is is that the head coach of that
- 27:31Speaker 3: terrible team is also now the beloved coordinator of the
- 27:36Speaker 3: NFL right now. So I just thought I went back
- 27:38Speaker 3: to Spagnolo, So I went back to I don't want
- 27:42Speaker 3: to failed head coach coming back, So you know, like
- 27:44Speaker 3: it goes back to what we just said, like everybody's
- 27:47Speaker 3: got baggage. If you've better, either you've got baggage and
- 27:49Speaker 3: you failed somewhere or nobody knows anything about you and
- 27:52Speaker 3: you got to pick. And my final point is just
- 27:55Speaker 3: that I think they made the best decision, the safest decision.
- 27:58Speaker 3: If I was gonna bet on a head coach and
- 28:01Speaker 3: an offensive coordinator in this cycle, this is the safest
- 28:04Speaker 3: move I've met. Is it risky?
- 28:05Speaker 2: Not?
- 28:05Speaker 3: Not as risky as I would say, So maybe maybe
- 28:07Speaker 3: those risky moves would have.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Paid off more Brian Schottenheimer. According to Jerry Jones, did
- 28:12Speaker 2: you hear that?
- 28:12Speaker 4: But that's basically the argument is would you do you
- 28:16Speaker 4: want to go safe or do you want to go
- 28:18Speaker 4: for the home run? And a lot of people are
- 28:21Speaker 4: more comfortable going safe.
- 28:23Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 28:24Speaker 6: Also for the home run Josh.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Why can't Josh be a home run?
- 28:30Speaker 3: Spags is a home run for the Chiefs. Is the
- 28:32Speaker 3: defensive cordator.
- 28:34Speaker 4: But Spags has been dominant as defensive coordinator in multiple places.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Fair, but Josh is now getting a chance at an
- 28:40Speaker 3: actual different place. Now, I feel like, you know, I mean,
- 28:42Speaker 3: I know, well, the only.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Other place that Josh was offensive coordinator was Saint Louis.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but he also ran the offense at other places.
- 28:52Speaker 2: But right, you could say that, I could Yeah, you
- 28:55Speaker 2: could say that.
- 28:56Speaker 3: But you mentioned the production that DeVante Adam since Josh
- 29:00Speaker 3: Jacobs had them in that year, right, I mean, I
- 29:02Speaker 3: know they weren't great, but those guys had epic years.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I mean, you know those two you're and I know
- 29:07Speaker 3: that that talent doesn't back.
- 29:08Speaker 4: After it, but I can't get along with them.
- 29:11Speaker 2: But here's the thing, Paul, if maybe you weren't born
- 29:14Speaker 2: to be a head coach and you're all of a
- 29:16Speaker 2: sudden a head coach, it has to take away from
- 29:19Speaker 2: your ability to definitely And if.
- 29:22Speaker 4: People are listening and they heard me yesterday on my show,
- 29:25Speaker 4: clearly you know that I'm playing both sides of all
- 29:28Speaker 4: because yesterday I was Mike with Felagor and Max and
- 29:31Speaker 4: I played the mic.
- 29:34Speaker 2: No, this is really good. You guys don't understand.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Ultimately, I'm just trying to get out of Mike's skin
- 29:39Speaker 4: here on our show.
- 29:40Speaker 3: It's good.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It's good because that's what I do.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Both he was walking out Nestsary, I'm like, I'm like,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I love Paul on Feller. It's a whole new Paul.
- 29:47Speaker 3: It's like he's calm. He's like, you guys are crazy.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I might call that corporate poem. Corporate Paul. Yeah, I
- 29:53Speaker 2: do stay out of trouble, Paul.
- 29:54Speaker 6: I do agree with you, friend. I don't think everyone's
- 29:56Speaker 6: born to be a head coach. Like I know, like
- 29:58Speaker 6: there is you start this, isn't you go to DC
- 30:01Speaker 6: then you want to be a head coach. But I
- 30:02Speaker 6: feel like some people are kind of just meant to
- 30:04Speaker 6: be coordinators. Couldn't Like maybe Robert Salah, maybe he's meant
- 30:08Speaker 6: to be a coordinator. I don't know, but like could be.
- 30:11Speaker 6: And so I feel like it shouldn't be a knock
- 30:13Speaker 6: that he failed at being a head coach, because maybe
- 30:15Speaker 6: he's just a really good question.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I always bring up the example of Dick Lebou with
- 30:19Speaker 2: the Steelers. I mean, people asked him, why, you know,
- 30:22Speaker 2: don't you want to be a head coach? He's like, no,
- 30:25Speaker 2: I'm I'm a coordinator. That's what I do. And he
- 30:27Speaker 2: was a damn good one. Yeah.
- 30:29Speaker 8: It's kind of nice too that if they are successful,
- 30:32Speaker 8: Josh isn't just going to run away at the next
- 30:34Speaker 8: head coaching job, you know, like it's I would just
- 30:37Speaker 8: love to see finally some continuity here.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Yeah, the OC position, if he could do what Spags
- 30:43Speaker 3: has done in cac and really like everyone's like, geez,
- 30:45Speaker 3: you know, I mean, that's that's what I keep going
- 30:47Speaker 3: back to. I just call it a huge opportunity for
- 30:49Speaker 3: Josh to you know, go into Yes, he's back in
- 30:52Speaker 3: New England, but it seems like it's going to be
- 30:53Speaker 3: a little different this time. And I also just wonder
- 30:56Speaker 3: as he was sitting there in the off season like
- 30:58Speaker 3: last year, did he ever think, like, I'm get a
- 31:00Speaker 3: chance to cook Was that in the back of his
- 31:02Speaker 3: mind ever, like maybe just a line up and I'll
- 31:04Speaker 3: get it. I'll get a chance to coach this kid.
- 31:06Speaker 3: And you know, maybe he was kind of cooking things
- 31:08Speaker 3: up already in his mind of you know, while he
- 31:10Speaker 3: was making off season trips. I mean, maybe that's a
- 31:12Speaker 3: little The.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Thing about it is, whether it's Drake may or Jayden
- 31:15Speaker 2: Daniels or any of these guys, there's a lot of
- 31:17Speaker 2: quarterbacks out there that can run and pass that you
- 31:19Speaker 2: have to use both of those talents in order to.
- 31:22Speaker 6: Feel like that's the way the NFL is trending. Right,
- 31:24Speaker 6: all the quarterbacks that are coming into the draft, I
- 31:26Speaker 6: mean even look at your door, like, they're all like
- 31:28Speaker 6: that now, right, there's not this Tom Brady pocket pass situation.
- 31:32Speaker 6: They're more mobile and they're more more dual.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Right, you better be ready for that. If you're going
- 31:38Speaker 2: to be an offensive coordinator.
- 31:39Speaker 3: How do you make killers? That's what I want to know.
- 31:42Speaker 3: How do you make somebody?
- 31:43Speaker 2: I don't think and you're just.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Born with it?
- 31:46Speaker 2: I think before.
- 31:49Speaker 6: Yeah, you can't teach that.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Mahomes a killer in college. I don't know. I'm just asking.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I don't know was he was?
- 31:53Speaker 4: He?
- 31:54Speaker 3: Was he that kind of guy in big games?
- 31:55Speaker 2: That because that was Brady Cora, he didn't any The
- 31:58Speaker 2: question is less how do you make killers? Is more
- 32:01Speaker 2: how do you identify the killers? Well? What are the
- 32:05Speaker 2: traits before you draft them that you can look at
- 32:08Speaker 2: and say, this guy has it in him?
- 32:09Speaker 3: Wasn't it the Rose Bowl with Brady at Michigan that yeh,
- 32:12Speaker 3: a really good game.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Goes the Orange Bowl? But yeah, he played. He had
- 32:15Speaker 4: a good come from behind game. But the thing about
- 32:18Speaker 4: Brady that was impossible to know is why he kept
- 32:22Speaker 4: having to split time and.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Because Lloyd Carr was fixated on Drew Henson. No, I know, Yeah,
- 32:30Speaker 2: that's why.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Do you think if he had Tom Brady, like knowing
- 32:33Speaker 4: what he did, that he would have been fixated on
- 32:35Speaker 4: Drew Henson?
- 32:35Speaker 2: But he didn't give Tom Brady a chance? No, I know.
- 32:38Speaker 2: But do you think if he knew that Tom Brady
- 32:40Speaker 2: was as good as he was, he would have He
- 32:42Speaker 2: knew that he was better than Drew Henson, but he was.
- 32:45Speaker 2: He brought this kid in and he had.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Given Lloyd Carr way more credit than I am. I
- 32:50Speaker 4: think he was incompetent, didn't know what he had.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Well maybe, but I mean I think that's.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Like something you don't learn until later. Like why did
- 32:57Speaker 4: he lose five games as a starter? That's a lot
- 33:00Speaker 4: games from Michigan to loose.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Yeah, well, maybe what it was was that he had
- 33:03Speaker 3: a quarterback who physically didn't have the same measurables as
- 33:06Speaker 3: Drew Hanson, but was a killer. And he didn't really
- 33:08Speaker 3: realize this ventually a killer. I can't get past the
- 33:11Speaker 3: you know, kind of lack of physical stature or you know,
- 33:13Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it coming out.
- 33:15Speaker 1: What was it?
- 33:16Speaker 3: Too slow? The whole was greater than the some of
- 33:18Speaker 3: the parts with d I mean, it's hard to identify.
- 33:21Speaker 2: But like that.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I remember when he was coming out, I was like,
- 33:23Speaker 4: you know, why did he lose five games as a starter. Well,
- 33:27Speaker 4: come to find out, he probably wasn't the reason they
- 33:29Speaker 4: lost five games. It was because they kept dicking around
- 33:32Speaker 4: with it and putting Drew Henson in and that was
- 33:34Speaker 4: probably hurting.
- 33:35Speaker 3: The team behind him. It might have, you know, but.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Again, those are things that you don't necessarily understand if
- 33:41Speaker 4: you're not invested in the team. I'm sure like people
- 33:44Speaker 4: that were following Michigan football closely knew, Hey, this guy
- 33:48Speaker 4: is better than Henson? Why does he keep taking him out?
- 33:53Speaker 2: Good stuff? Everyone's got an opinion, especially our listeners. Travis
- 33:59Speaker 2: in West Virginia has one about the newsletter. He says,
- 34:03Speaker 2: I don't think the email of the week should be
- 34:04Speaker 2: a five hundred word essay, but it typically is. It
- 34:07Speaker 2: should be concise and pithy. Well, I'm the one that
- 34:11Speaker 2: picks those usually, So my fault, your fault because I
- 34:15Speaker 2: picked the ones that. Why don't you argue? No, I
- 34:18Speaker 2: usually pick ones that people put thought into, but I could,
- 34:23Speaker 2: I could, you know, pick ones that are more concise
- 34:26Speaker 2: and pithy, pithy. The concise and pithy ones generally get
- 34:29Speaker 2: read on the air too, but that's okay. They could
- 34:32Speaker 2: be email.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Did you pick the one? Fred? Really nice story about Paul,
- 34:35Speaker 3: like the guy that was long one Hall of Fame.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Also on Tuesday show, Eldrick called in stating that he
- 34:44Speaker 2: had been broken on the side of the road for
- 34:45Speaker 2: a couple of hours, and you guys offered no sympathy whatsoever.
- 34:49Speaker 2: You know, He's right. We kind of glossed over it, right, No.
- 34:52Speaker 3: We were entertaining him during.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I should have been like, you know, can I call
- 34:57Speaker 2: Triple A for you?
- 34:58Speaker 7: Imagine?
- 35:02Speaker 2: No, that's kind of He's right. We kind of glossed
- 35:05Speaker 2: over that. It's like, oh, okay, you're stuck. What else
- 35:07Speaker 2: you know? Really?
- 35:09Speaker 4: Hell, I hope you're okay.
- 35:11Speaker 6: I will say I really like the newsletters a lot,
- 35:14Speaker 6: like I look forward to them, especially like the cartoons
- 35:17Speaker 6: when Alex includes those. Evan one is like ten, tis
- 35:23Speaker 6: so good.
- 35:23Speaker 2: It's good stuff. And if you want to get the newsletter,
- 35:27Speaker 2: all you have to do is go to Patriots dot
- 35:28Speaker 2: com slash pu newsletter and sign up. Also, if you
- 35:32Speaker 2: haven't signed up yet but you've been getting it. You're
- 35:34Speaker 2: going to get an email in your box probably tomorrow
- 35:37Speaker 2: or Monday saying you haven't signed up yet, and so
- 35:41Speaker 2: there'll be a link to make sure that you do,
- 35:43Speaker 2: because we have probably about twenty percent of the people
- 35:46Speaker 2: on our list have actually signed up, but we're still
- 35:49Speaker 2: sending everybody. But if you want to keep getting it,
- 35:52Speaker 2: you got to officially sign up.
- 35:54Speaker 6: I had to officially sign up because I wasn't getting it.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I get it on my personal and my work email.
- 35:58Speaker 7: Wo whoa, I hope you're opening on them?
- 36:04Speaker 6: Is there an algorithm and good slash engagement slash data
- 36:08Speaker 6: for these as well?
- 36:09Speaker 2: You mean, like, who's what are they reading within it? Oh?
- 36:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, get that Kristen, get that report going on?
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah she's listening.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I'm sure all right. Uh eight five five PATS five
- 36:22Speaker 2: hundred is the tpx houtline podcast at patriots dot com
- 36:25Speaker 2: is the email address. Let's hit up the phone see
- 36:28Speaker 2: what people are saying. I'm sure there's topics we haven't
- 36:30Speaker 2: touched on yet that you want to talk about, and
- 36:32Speaker 2: if you do, now's the time to bring them up.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Cole's in Minnesota. What's up? Cold? Are you cold in Minnesota?
- 36:39Speaker 2: Good morning, all right, I.
- 36:40Speaker 10: Just wanted to pick your brand, get your opinion on
- 36:43Speaker 10: a little bit of the graft. I was curious something
- 36:48Speaker 10: that this organization or this new regime here could do
- 36:52Speaker 10: that could be a complete blunder in obviously have so
- 36:58Speaker 10: many needs. It's hard to imagine thinking it up, but
- 37:00Speaker 10: I know it's possible, like if able to go out
- 37:03Speaker 10: and just kindily invest in young talent on the defense,
- 37:07Speaker 10: would you guys.
- 37:08Speaker 9: See that at the end of the draft made.
- 37:10Speaker 12: Up by the organization. And then one other.
- 37:13Speaker 10: Question I did was about Kendrick Bourne. I don't really
- 37:19Speaker 10: see it. I guess I ken't. You know, I've been
- 37:22Speaker 10: watching this into scrim Mac and I guess I don't
- 37:24Speaker 10: get it, Like you've been benched twice by two different
- 37:27Speaker 10: coaches on our teams. Always seems to be in a
- 37:31Speaker 10: long headspace, and I don't One might pointed it out
- 37:34Speaker 10: a couple of weeks back about how you know he's
- 37:37Speaker 10: one of those oh my bad, my bad, you know
- 37:40Speaker 10: those kind of guys. But I'm curious, like, when are
- 37:42Speaker 10: we gonna stop, you know, defending this guys? Is it
- 37:45Speaker 10: just because of the as far as the talent goes,
- 37:48Speaker 10: he's really the only Athletics a good guy we have.
- 37:52Speaker 13: And I'll leave that.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Okay, thanks Cole well smarter.
- 37:57Speaker 3: You had a thing with what was it, Chad Graft,
- 37:59Speaker 3: I think speculating.
- 38:00Speaker 6: Yeah, there was a report in The Athletic predicting that
- 38:03Speaker 6: Kendrick Bourne would be released this off season, and I
- 38:07Speaker 6: was talking to Douce about I was like, do you
- 38:08Speaker 6: think that that's possible? And I know he didn't perform
- 38:12Speaker 6: that well coming off of his a CL, Like he
- 38:14Speaker 6: had to get what one good game coming off of
- 38:16Speaker 6: the a CL. So I get it if you want
- 38:18Speaker 6: to move on from him and pursue maybe just focusing
- 38:22Speaker 6: on Kashan Booty and to Mario Douglas And I'm blanking
- 38:25Speaker 6: on someone else's name right now. Oh Pop not pop
- 38:28Speaker 6: uh Poke Polk again, if you just want to focus
- 38:31Speaker 6: on those three and maybe draft another one. But I
- 38:35Speaker 6: just don't see you moving on.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I think everyone's on the table. I really do, especially.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Because he's worked with Josh before. I'm like, I feel
- 38:42Speaker 6: like joshould want.
- 38:42Speaker 3: To keep him.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Well maybe, but I think everyone's on the table to
- 38:46Speaker 2: be a cut or to stay, depending on what they
- 38:49Speaker 2: do in the draft and free agency. They need to
- 38:52Speaker 2: upgrade that room. They need better wide receivers and they
- 38:55Speaker 2: need as many as they can get. The question is
- 38:57Speaker 2: how many can they get? And it'll be a numbers game.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, yeah, mat me know.
- 39:02Speaker 3: After free agency, Yeah, I hope there's a lot of
- 39:05Speaker 3: competition and you know, stuff to push all those guys
- 39:08Speaker 3: and I mean they'll be like last year. You know,
- 39:10Speaker 3: I think last year were sitting at the same point
- 39:11Speaker 3: being like they got all these guys. Bring in more
- 39:15Speaker 3: and let competition figure it out and hope that you
- 39:18Speaker 3: actually get guys that can really push the envelope on point.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Know what they're doing always and in the big moments
- 39:23Speaker 3: they come through with the cutch plays.
- 39:25Speaker 6: I do want you to bring in more, but I
- 39:27Speaker 6: want them to be really good wide receivers, not just
- 39:31Speaker 6: like that one wide receiver one and then more wide
- 39:33Speaker 6: receiver six sevens. I want more ones and twos like
- 39:37Speaker 6: as Matt Smith would say.
- 39:39Speaker 3: He's one.
- 39:42Speaker 2: I think we're all on the same page. We need
- 39:44Speaker 2: high end.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I mean we talk about some of like Chris God
- 39:47Speaker 3: when I know, you know, Paul wasn't really interested in
- 39:49Speaker 3: him because he's coming off an injury. But you know,
- 39:51Speaker 3: if you if you could wrap your head around that
- 39:53Speaker 3: one of just a guy who you feel like when
- 39:55Speaker 3: he if when he would get out there, you would
- 39:56Speaker 3: feel pretty good.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, I mean that's and then draft one in
- 40:01Speaker 4: the second or third round. Then I would tell all
- 40:03Speaker 4: of the guys that are on the current roster and
- 40:05Speaker 4: say thanks, thanks for that's how you overturn your your room.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Could you get someone like Davante Adams since.
- 40:13Speaker 2: He technically is like not, Look, why would he want
- 40:18Speaker 2: to come here with Josh?
- 40:19Speaker 4: I think everything should be in play though, that's why
- 40:21Speaker 4: that particular one probably wouldn't happen because he hated them.
- 40:25Speaker 6: But or Tie Higgins and Brown, Brown don't just you're
- 40:30Speaker 6: getting me? Can we afford that?
- 40:35Speaker 2: Well, you could afford it. Absolutely, you can do it.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Do a show Brown on Brown with you, you can
- 40:39Speaker 3: do it.
- 40:40Speaker 4: But but that's the kind of like I think everything
- 40:43Speaker 4: that you could possibly come up with should be in play.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Now.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Is it realistic? Probably not, But if you can do that.
- 40:53Speaker 4: I made the comment. You know, we talked about this
- 40:55Speaker 4: a lot on the show. There are a lot of
- 40:57Speaker 4: guys that are under contract forget about Y's and Jones
- 41:01Speaker 4: and those guys that are going to be free agents.
- 41:03Speaker 4: There are a lot of guys under contract, some of
- 41:05Speaker 4: which just signed a contract like within within the year,
- 41:09Speaker 4: that are not going to be back. I don't know
- 41:11Speaker 4: who they are. Kendrick Bourne is certainly on that list.
- 41:15Speaker 4: I don't know how many of those guys they can
- 41:17Speaker 4: afford to let go. But my guess is Mike Rabel
- 41:20Speaker 4: wants to overturn that roster as much as he can
- 41:24Speaker 4: and find his mid level kind of free agents that
- 41:29Speaker 4: can come in and play right away.
- 41:32Speaker 6: Is Jakobe Meers a free agent, can we steal him back?
- 41:35Speaker 4: That's he's not next year.
- 41:36Speaker 3: But I two guys I would just consider julyn And
- 41:41Speaker 3: and Anthony Jennings, who I kind of like, and I
- 41:43Speaker 3: do think that like as a on the line comment linebacker,
- 41:47Speaker 3: strong side linebacker, he could probably.
- 41:49Speaker 4: But I really think everybody like it's dugger, it's the
- 41:52Speaker 4: guys that Mike just said, it's born, it's o WHENU
- 41:55Speaker 4: like Pepper's Peppers, They're not all going to go. I'm
- 41:58Speaker 4: not suggesting that bar and cut like ten guys farm
- 42:02Speaker 4: when you would say, yeah, well if they want to
- 42:06Speaker 4: go to depending on what they want to do for,
- 42:10Speaker 4: you know, for the style up front like that could
- 42:13Speaker 4: impact went.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Sure, Hey, Eldred's listening. What's up, Eldred?
- 42:19Speaker 4: Aldred on the side of the road, Eldred, I've been worried, sick.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Paul's going to come change your time.
- 42:30Speaker 2: But it's a it's a good question. So when you
- 42:32Speaker 2: see like a semi on the side of the road
- 42:35Speaker 2: broken down, what what's usually the problem? What's usually happening there?
- 42:41Speaker 14: It could be a bunch of things. One for that
- 42:43Speaker 14: car too, Like yesterday my break line, my upright had
- 42:49Speaker 14: a little little cut in it, some kind of.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Weight and.
- 42:54Speaker 14: Transmission chang okay, airlines, Yeah, goes to.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Stuff. Okay, so they had to get it picked.
- 43:03Speaker 14: But the bad probat is it takes them two hours
- 43:05Speaker 14: to get their butt over here. It takes them to
- 43:07Speaker 14: fix it, so you're running out of time and everything.
- 43:10Speaker 2: So they were able to fix it right there on
- 43:12Speaker 2: the road. Yeah, okay, if they don't do to I
- 43:17Speaker 2: know that's that's a whole thing.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I just have one question, if you can, I
- 43:21Speaker 3: ask you one more question. Have you ever seen over
- 43:23Speaker 3: the top and is there a subculture of arm wrestling
- 43:25Speaker 3: in the truck driving community.
- 43:29Speaker 14: I've never seen it. I've been a bunch of trucks
- 43:31Speaker 14: stopped or whatever were you're sitting there resting, And I've
- 43:35Speaker 14: never seen it. I heard about it, but I never
- 43:37Speaker 14: seen it.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Now it's pretty good. If you go over the top,
- 43:40Speaker 3: you know you'll win every time.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Are the truck stops as seedy as they make them
- 43:45Speaker 2: out to be with all with everything going on?
- 43:49Speaker 14: But they used to when I was over the road.
- 43:52Speaker 2: You know, I know what you're talking about. It's inappropriate.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I'm trying to get some insight here.
- 43:59Speaker 14: Yeah, appeals on what state? But uh, you'd be surprised
- 44:02Speaker 14: what state did that though? Yeah, And it was like
- 44:06Speaker 14: comment so t Texas, then Antonio, Houston, h Kennessee and
- 44:15Speaker 14: and like the Melifornia.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Are are there certain truck stops like on everyone's map,
- 44:19Speaker 2: like ooh the truck stop in San Antonio on exit three?
- 44:23Speaker 2: Oooh that one? Yeah? Is there like an app that
- 44:28Speaker 2: you can find?
- 44:30Speaker 14: Not really dontown. They just popped up dontown.
- 44:33Speaker 2: They don't, okay, And.
- 44:34Speaker 14: Like everybody else, we'll we'll call it it cause I
- 44:36Speaker 14: don't want to be able to fix the clock news.
- 44:38Speaker 14: Like everybody else where, you're going to jail in the
- 44:40Speaker 14: truck going the inpound lot and you come together.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Take care of So no, that's true. So what do
- 44:45Speaker 2: you what do you got football wise?
- 44:48Speaker 14: Football wise? You heard that rumor about uh, Milton Milton
- 44:55Speaker 14: might be traded to the Raiders to beat.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Carolonia Milton might be traded? Well, who started this rumor?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Somebody with two followers on that.
- 45:04Speaker 14: Nope, it's on. It's on the news seat on the
- 45:07Speaker 14: new seater sports thing. They come up about the Panthers, Patriots,
- 45:11Speaker 14: all the other teams, Ram Seattle, who might go over
- 45:14Speaker 14: then Seattle? They telling me about I won't make Cam bad.
- 45:18Speaker 14: But he said something about.
- 45:21Speaker 3: I don't like it here.
- 45:23Speaker 13: You want to come?
- 45:24Speaker 2: I heard that.
- 45:25Speaker 14: I'm like, well, damn, that's that.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Well he might be saying that. Then you offer him
- 45:30Speaker 2: a bag and it's like all of a sudden, I
- 45:32Speaker 2: like Massachusetts.
- 45:34Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah he might be. But I'm looking at but
- 45:37Speaker 14: And the other thing is, I'm waiting on the wide
- 45:41Speaker 14: receiver coach. That's who I'm waiting.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Okay, you know, waiting on that one.
- 45:47Speaker 14: But other than that, that did for Paul Brady and Hinson.
- 45:51Speaker 14: He was a he was a two star plus. He
- 45:53Speaker 14: was a two full athlete baseball and football, and that
- 45:58Speaker 14: what gave him presence over Tom Brady and Carson. Yeah,
- 46:03Speaker 14: Brady again, Brady won.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yeah, well all right, Aldred, thank you. Thank Brady was
- 46:12Speaker 2: a to sport athlete too, Yeah, yeah, exposed, right, but
- 46:16Speaker 2: he wasn't a picture Yeah he was.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Drew Henson came to Michigan as a very highly decorated
- 46:21Speaker 4: I know, and Cloud was a two.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Sport guy, but I think that clouded. Yeah, cars also.
- 46:27Speaker 4: Caused all kinds of pressure because he had pressure to play.
- 46:30Speaker 2: I agree, all right, we're gonna take a break. My
- 46:33Speaker 2: foods here when we come back. More calls and emails.
- 46:36Speaker 2: No picks today though, right, so we don't have to hurry.

- 48:00Speaker 17: Part Now for another edition of Pats from the Past podcast,
- 48:03Speaker 17: Matt Smith, Paul p Rolo and please to be joined
- 48:06Speaker 17: by former Patriot quarterback Brian hoy or Brian. Thanks for
- 48:08Speaker 17: coming by man.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Thanks appreciate me on guys.
- 48:10Speaker 17: Yeah, we asked this of everybody, so I think people
- 48:14Speaker 17: who are football fans Patriot fans know, is Brian gonna play?
- 48:17Speaker 17: Is Brian not gonna play? What's what's going on with
- 48:19Speaker 17: Brian Hoyr these days?
- 48:20Speaker 2: We nont know.
- 48:21Speaker 18: I think it would take a great opportunity to come
- 48:23Speaker 18: along for me to do that. Obviously, I was in
- 48:25Speaker 18: Las Vegas last year. I know I can still play
- 48:27Speaker 18: because I beat the Patriots last year, one of the
- 48:29Speaker 18: most tooche, one.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Of the most.
- 48:31Speaker 18: It's on my list, Brian on my list sweet moments
- 48:33Speaker 18: of my career. So we'll talk about that later. But
- 48:35Speaker 18: you know, so I know I can still physically do it.
- 48:38Speaker 18: But at thirty eight years old, my kids are getting older.
- 48:41Speaker 18: You know, I think it would take a really great
- 48:43Speaker 18: opportunity for me, you know, to come along, for me
- 48:45Speaker 18: to to kind of look and see. But so I
- 48:48Speaker 18: know I can still do it. Body feels relatively healthy
- 48:51Speaker 18: and you know, so we'll see. It's it's always open.
- 48:55Speaker 18: People always say, you know, you if someone's offering you
- 48:58Speaker 18: an opportunity to play and you feel like you could
- 49:00Speaker 18: do it, you know, you know, I remember a former
- 49:03Speaker 18: teammate saying, play till they tell you you can't. So
- 49:06Speaker 18: definitely capable of it. It's just got to be I
- 49:08Speaker 18: think the right opportunity at this point.
- 49:10Speaker 17: You know, idiots like us sit there and oh, you know,
- 49:12Speaker 17: he can play, or it's time to go, and everything
- 49:14Speaker 17: like that. But I don't think the lay people realize
- 49:18Speaker 17: what's it like to make that decision as a family. Yeah,
- 49:21Speaker 17: when you have a wife who's supported you cross country trips,
- 49:26Speaker 17: taking kids back and forth, at some point in time,
- 49:29Speaker 17: her decision or her opinion, while always valued, you got
- 49:34Speaker 17: to really listen to that's got to be hard, like
- 49:36Speaker 17: from a as a family standpoint, like at what point
- 49:39Speaker 17: time do I need to devote my time to them?
- 49:41Speaker 2: Right? And that's a huge part of the decision making.
- 49:43Speaker 18: So that's why I said, like, it have to be
- 49:44Speaker 18: the right opportunity and all those things, because you know,
- 49:48Speaker 18: deciding to go to play in Las Vegas last year,
- 49:51Speaker 18: it was not an easy choice. It was an easy
- 49:53Speaker 18: choice because it was Josh in my relationship with him,
- 49:56Speaker 18: but it wasn't an easy choice in the regards of
- 49:58Speaker 18: what does this mean for my family? And thankfully we
- 50:00Speaker 18: had a great school here that allowed our kids to
- 50:02Speaker 18: kind of virtual school with the help of a tutor
- 50:05Speaker 18: out there.
- 50:06Speaker 3: But it was rough.
- 50:07Speaker 18: It was it was a rough transition and they were
- 50:10Speaker 18: all happy to come back once the season was over.
- 50:12Speaker 18: And so now my son, he's going into seventh grade,
- 50:14Speaker 18: he's he got accepted as Avarian brother. So you know,
- 50:17Speaker 18: those are all things that you have to take into account.
- 50:18Speaker 18: Like I want to watch him play football at of course,
- 50:20Speaker 18: he's watched me play for a long time.
- 50:22Speaker 3: So maybe it's times, you know, for.
- 50:23Speaker 4: A role reverse when you have when you came out
- 50:26Speaker 4: of Michigan State. I mean, you didn't get drafted, yep,
- 50:30Speaker 4: And I don't know what your expectations were heading in,
- 50:32Speaker 4: but to then have what a fifteen year career off
- 50:38Speaker 4: of that, what were your expectations sort of when you
- 50:40Speaker 4: arrived here in two thousand and nine, what were.
- 50:43Speaker 2: You helping for.
- 50:44Speaker 18: I was just talking about this with my son the
- 50:45Speaker 18: other day and I said, listen, when I didn't get drafted,
- 50:48Speaker 18: you know, I kind of thought, Okay, the Patriots are
- 50:51Speaker 18: going to sign me. I'll learn from Tom Brady. Obviously
- 50:55Speaker 18: I grew up I watched Bill coach in Cleveland, so
- 50:57Speaker 18: I always kind of had an affinity to him, and
- 50:59Speaker 18: obviously him being a great coach, I thought it was
- 51:01Speaker 18: a great opportunity to go learn. And I thought, you know,
- 51:03Speaker 18: maybe I'll make the practice squad if I get released.
- 51:05Speaker 18: At least I'll learn from these guys. And then sure enough,
- 51:08Speaker 18: I kind of worked my way up the ranks, ended
- 51:11Speaker 18: up being Tom's backup my rookie year. And you know,
- 51:14Speaker 18: the things that I learned in those first four years
- 51:16Speaker 18: were so invaluable to me that when I finally got
- 51:19Speaker 18: some opportunities to play, you know, you put those in motion,
- 51:22Speaker 18: and then you just keep stack in year, stack in years,
- 51:24Speaker 18: and and you know the thing about the quarterback position
- 51:27Speaker 18: is if you're relatively competent and you're a good guy,
- 51:30Speaker 18: and you make some connections, you know, you just extend
- 51:33Speaker 18: your career, extend your career. That's I mean, when I
- 51:35Speaker 18: look at last year, if if Josh isn't the head
- 51:37Speaker 18: coach in Las Vegas last year, then you know, maybe
- 51:40Speaker 18: my my my career ends there. But you know, luckily
- 51:43Speaker 18: for me, I've met a lot of great coaches, played
- 51:45Speaker 18: with a lot of great players, and made a lot
- 51:47Speaker 18: of great connections which allowed me to do that.
- 51:49Speaker 17: That's a little bit unorthodox. Brian as a rookie, now
- 51:52Speaker 17: you're backing up Brady, who's, by the way, is coming
- 51:54Speaker 17: off a knee surgery at that point in time, and
- 51:56Speaker 17: you're the only backup quarterback your rookie year, that was
- 51:59Speaker 17: the same way, and twenty ten you're the only backup court.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Like not a lot of teams did that.
- 52:03Speaker 17: Well, how did that? What was your thought process in that?
- 52:06Speaker 17: Like you want to talk about literally next man up
- 52:08Speaker 17: in your one pitch away, Yeah, you're one pitch away
- 52:11Speaker 17: at that point.
- 52:11Speaker 18: I think I was too naive to even understand that
- 52:13Speaker 18: at that point. You know, now looking back, when you realize,
- 52:15Speaker 18: like Tom's coming off of major knee reconstruction, had you know,
- 52:19Speaker 18: some hiccups along the way, Man, if I had had
- 52:23Speaker 18: to play that year, I don't know how ready I
- 52:25Speaker 18: would have been. Obviously Bill believed in me, and Bill
- 52:27Speaker 18: O'Brien believed to me, and and so I'm sure it
- 52:30Speaker 18: would have, you know, worked itself out. We had a
- 52:31Speaker 18: really good team, So I think I would have relied
- 52:33Speaker 18: on those guys around me. But you know, at that point,
- 52:38Speaker 18: you're just I was just thrilled to be an NFL
- 52:40Speaker 18: football player. And now I'm going to a meeting room
- 52:43Speaker 18: every day with Tom Brady and soaking up what I
- 52:45Speaker 18: can I can learn from him, And then you know,
- 52:47Speaker 18: that went for four years and then until I got
- 52:49Speaker 18: released in twenty twelve. So I mean those years, like
- 52:52Speaker 18: you know, those are kind of like, you know, your
- 52:55Speaker 18: the years you're building your foundation of your career, and
- 52:57Speaker 18: I couldn't have done it in a better place.
- 52:59Speaker 4: So I wanted to ask you a little bit about
- 53:01Speaker 4: that rookie season. You were part of some really good teams,
- 53:05Speaker 4: and you know, ultimately you were part of a champion
- 53:07Speaker 4: in eighteen, but you know, you had that great year
- 53:10Speaker 4: in twenty ten, twenty eleven, you go to the super
- 53:13Speaker 4: Bowl in two thousand and nine. You probably didn't recognize
- 53:16Speaker 4: it at the time, it's your rookie year, but do
- 53:18Speaker 4: you kind of look back and say, there was a
- 53:20Speaker 4: little bit of something amiss in two thousand and nine.
- 53:23Speaker 4: That's sort of the way it's kind of viewed here.
- 53:25Speaker 4: That was kind of a reset year, and we're very
- 53:28Speaker 4: spoiled because we've been brought up a lot of like it.
- 53:30Speaker 2: I didn't know any better. Tennesse is going to the
- 53:32Speaker 2: playoffs and all that stuff is not I thought it
- 53:34Speaker 2: was a great I'm like, man, I'm a great But
- 53:36Speaker 2: did you did.
- 53:36Speaker 4: You see did you sense any like sort of dysfunction?
- 53:39Speaker 4: At the time, or you know, maybe looking back at it,
- 53:42Speaker 4: do you feel like that wasn't the same as some
- 53:44Speaker 4: of the better teams that you were on.
- 53:45Speaker 18: Definitely wasn't the same. I think looking back now, knowing
- 53:48Speaker 18: what I know and being on some great teams, it wasn't.
- 53:51Speaker 18: There was definitely some learning curve, There was some adjusting
- 53:54Speaker 18: to new I mean, that was Bill O'Brien's first year
- 53:55Speaker 18: as a coordinator here, you know, so now I know
- 53:57Speaker 18: how important that is, you know, being a quarterback. When
- 54:00Speaker 18: you're learning, even if you're keeping somewhat of the system intact,
- 54:03Speaker 18: you're working with someone new, and and that was you know,
- 54:05Speaker 18: so those were kind of I guess you call growing pains.
- 54:07Speaker 18: But I thought, like, man, we're going to the playoffs,
- 54:09Speaker 18: like we're this is I'm on the Patriots. This is
- 54:11Speaker 18: like a super Bowl organization. Like Okay, one year, you know,
- 54:16Speaker 18: we didn't win the super Bowl, and I'm like, oh,
- 54:17Speaker 18: we'll win it next year. I mean, I think that
- 54:19Speaker 18: that's kind of the expectation you have when you come
- 54:22Speaker 18: into that organization. And I've always said this, I've always
- 54:25Speaker 18: looked at it. When Tom Brady was the quarterback. I
- 54:27Speaker 18: never went into a game, thinking we're not going to win. Ever,
- 54:30Speaker 18: there was never and I did, wait, well, I've been
- 54:32Speaker 18: on other teams, whether I was the quarterback or someone
- 54:34Speaker 18: else is the quarterback, and I'm like, man, I don't
- 54:36Speaker 18: know how much a chance we have this Sunday. And
- 54:39Speaker 18: I can honestly say every game that I ever played
- 54:41Speaker 18: here backing Tom up, that there was I never had
- 54:45Speaker 18: that feeling. And obviously a lot of other players around that.
- 54:47Speaker 18: But you know, when I talk with a lot of
- 54:49Speaker 18: my old teammates, I think that that feeling was very
- 54:52Speaker 18: you know similar.
- 54:52Speaker 4: I bring it up because it's again that's why I
- 54:56Speaker 4: preface it by saying we're spoiled, you know, when that's
- 54:59Speaker 4: considered a uote unquote down here. But you know, Bill
- 55:03Speaker 4: infamously said on that documentary, I just can't get these
- 55:06Speaker 4: guys to play there.
- 55:06Speaker 18: I was playing in that game at the time, Tom
- 55:10Speaker 18: standing rushed by New Orleans, and I think I remember
- 55:13Speaker 18: thinking to myself, like, wow, I'm playing it a Monday
- 55:15Speaker 18: night football game. You know, like, Okay, one bad game,
- 55:18Speaker 18: we got crushed, But I'm playing in a Monday night
- 55:20Speaker 18: football game.
- 55:20Speaker 3: That's pretty cool.
- 55:21Speaker 18: And you know, you see that and you really and
- 55:24Speaker 18: then having been on Champion Champion team and teams that
- 55:27Speaker 18: went to super Bowls, you realize like we probably didn't
- 55:29Speaker 18: have a chance.
- 55:30Speaker 2: To go to the super Bowl that year, right, and
- 55:32Speaker 2: then you have and now great moments in history.
- 55:39Speaker 19: I had to stop at that Shell station down next
- 55:42Speaker 19: to Luciano's on one Fred Yeah, filling up for gas.
- 55:46Speaker 19: So I go in to pay the cashier, this woman
- 55:48Speaker 19: who's been there forever pump you, I know, I like
- 55:51Speaker 19: to go in and pay pre pay.
- 55:52Speaker 6: I like that.
- 55:53Speaker 2: I just look it better.
- 55:55Speaker 3: Come, don't get me on it, don't get cap it.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Why do you like? I get the card, credit card?
- 56:00Speaker 3: It's just twenty bucks on or fill it up.
- 56:03Speaker 19: No, I usually put in a certain amount to do
- 56:05Speaker 19: that at the pump. I know you can Jerry Seinfeld
- 56:08Speaker 19: from the commercial that he did back in the day
- 56:10Speaker 19: when he remember he did that.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Oh oh oh, and he pulled the credit card. Why
- 56:13Speaker 2: would you all the way in there? All the way
- 56:16Speaker 2: It's not like you're walking fifteen miles. You can't understand
- 56:20Speaker 2: if you didn't have a credit card, all you had
- 56:21Speaker 2: was cat because then you got that. I can't understand anyway.
- 56:24Speaker 19: So I go into the store that makes no sense
- 56:26Speaker 19: anyway I go into the well, stop it and let
- 56:29Speaker 19: me finish the story.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Why would you go in? Oh, it's just such a hassle.
- 56:32Speaker 2: It's not a hassle.
- 56:33Speaker 17: You're the laziest person.
- 56:35Speaker 19: I've never known that they did this at the I'm
- 56:37Speaker 19: walking ten steps to walk into the door so I
- 56:39Speaker 19: can pay for cash.
- 56:40Speaker 2: And say I'll have this. It's for our convenience.
- 56:43Speaker 19: Have you ever seen the signs on there that a
- 56:45Speaker 19: lot of places say pre go inside and pre pay
- 56:49Speaker 19: before you pump. A lot of places won't let you
- 56:51Speaker 19: do that thing at the pump.
- 56:51Speaker 2: You know, what the hell do you maybe in Arkansas?
- 56:54Speaker 2: That's another great moment from it all right back here
- 57:00Speaker 2: and Patriots Unfiltered A five to five pass five hundred
- 57:03Speaker 2: is a tpx houtline podcast at patriots dot com is
- 57:05Speaker 2: the email address. Spiing Fresno writes in as a previous
- 57:09Speaker 2: emailer of the week, I love the shirt. I never
- 57:11Speaker 2: got it fits perfectly when I'm naked. Matt's like, I
- 57:18Speaker 2: don't know, can we do we not have shirts in
- 57:21Speaker 2: people's sizes? We only have small what we have animal sizes.
- 57:24Speaker 2: We don't have people sizes. We don't have extra large.
- 57:27Speaker 2: We don't have our fans sizes. We need to get
- 57:30Speaker 2: more T shirts, more extra largest. Who's in charge of
- 57:33Speaker 2: ordering T shirts?
- 57:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 57:35Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 57:36Speaker 6: But can we go back to that commercial that just
- 57:39Speaker 6: happened the Greatest moments from the greatest filters that pay
- 57:45Speaker 6: before you pump. You can pay at the pump. You
- 57:47Speaker 6: don't have to go inside.
- 57:49Speaker 2: You paid before if you only have cast exactly.
- 57:51Speaker 6: And the only time I probably count in my hand
- 57:53Speaker 6: how many times I've actually gone inside only done that.
- 57:56Speaker 6: If some gas stations there's one one actually that like
- 57:59Speaker 6: offers you a discount if you pay in cash. I
- 58:01Speaker 6: never have cash, but sometimes I do, and then I
- 58:04Speaker 6: will go inside to get the discount. Other than that,
- 58:06Speaker 6: I'm always using my course.
- 58:07Speaker 3: How do you I'm not going to course pay before
- 58:10Speaker 3: exactly and then you're going to go back in and
- 58:12Speaker 3: get your change. You're like, well, I gotta just put
- 58:14Speaker 3: forty bucks in.
- 58:16Speaker 2: This is what I had with.
- 58:17Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 58:18Speaker 2: This is what I had to do.
- 58:20Speaker 8: That's your unless he's like overly cautious about like skandit
- 58:24Speaker 8: card scammers, because I've had a friend.
- 58:26Speaker 6: That it happened to me someone stole my card number
- 58:29Speaker 6: from the pump.
- 58:29Speaker 7: They would never use a debit, but.
- 58:34Speaker 6: I just got a new card.
- 58:35Speaker 3: I was like, even the fear of it. He would
- 58:37Speaker 3: just be like, no, I'm not even risking it.
- 58:39Speaker 2: But by the way, if you go in and pay
- 58:41Speaker 2: with a credit card, they can do it there too.
- 58:42Speaker 3: Sure.
- 58:43Speaker 2: They have these things that go over the credit card
- 58:45Speaker 2: machine that actually takes your stripe twice, so it can
- 58:50Speaker 2: happen anywhere that you're giving your credit card.
- 58:52Speaker 3: So using credit card.
- 58:53Speaker 2: The only way to avoid that it is to use cash.
- 58:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I never have cash because I lose it. I'll
- 58:58Speaker 6: find it in care later in my pocket.
- 59:01Speaker 4: Anyway, it's funny and you say that who carries cash?
- 59:04Speaker 2: I went in.
- 59:06Speaker 4: I was hungry this morning, so full disclosure, I got
- 59:09Speaker 4: myself in a muffin. Faddy got himself an age me
- 59:13Speaker 4: muffin this morning. So I was there and I didn't
- 59:16Speaker 4: have my My newspaper hadn't arrived yet.
- 59:18Speaker 2: This morning, so the whole morning is screwed up.
- 59:22Speaker 4: Thank you, Fred for understanding. You understood perfectly. So I said,
- 59:28Speaker 4: stole your neighbors, so let me know, let me get
- 59:30Speaker 4: a newspaper. Well, I mean, you know, right, down the street.
- 59:32Speaker 4: The McDonald's is connected to the little.
- 59:34Speaker 2: You know, they have the mini store kind of convenience store.
- 59:37Speaker 4: So I get the newspaper, which, by the way, is
- 59:40Speaker 4: four dollars. That was for a globe. That's criminal anyway.
- 59:45Speaker 4: So I put the globe up and get my card out,
- 59:48Speaker 4: and he's like, oh no, you can't. You can't pay
- 59:51Speaker 4: for the newspaper with a credit card. Has to be
- 59:52Speaker 4: cash only. And I'm like, oh, so I look at
- 59:55Speaker 4: my wallet. Of course I had three dollars on me.
- 59:58Speaker 2: So I'm like, cash for newspaper just leaves better. It
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: gets better.
- 1:00:03Speaker 7: Wandering money.
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: So I said, okay, so what if I buy something else?
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Can I pay for the pay with the card?
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: Then?
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, So I got a bottle with you know,
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: big stunner. Here a bottle with.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: Diet PENSI in the newspaper. So for six dollars I
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: could use my card. So was it a thing because
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: he said it was because of the newspaper. But then
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: he let me get the newspaper, So I don't know.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: That's weird because it was like a minimum spell. Yeah,
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: someplaces say I don't under ten dollars, we don't accept
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: credit cards because of the fees. It could also be
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: the distributor of the newspaper. Maybe they have to pay
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: them in cash because you know those Yeah, I just
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: thought it was those newspaper distributors. Let me do it though, Yeah,
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: so I don't know.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I don't know what the ye, I don't know what
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: the restriction.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Anyway, Spie goes on, he says, what are your guys?
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Muffin was good though, Oh yeah, yeah, and I paid
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: it and I paid with a card for that too,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: if you what are your guys plans? Food plans for
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: the Super Bowl? I always make two dishes themed after
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: the team's playing, so this year it's smoked ribs and
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: cheese steak sandwiches. Don't know what I would have done
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: for Washington, but would have liked to try buffaloes beef
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: on weck. It's thinly sliced roast beef on coumel weck roll,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: which is a type of kaiser roll top with a
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: coarse salt caraway seeds, served with horse radish and au
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: ju for dipping. But damn, I missed the days when
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: the clamshowder flowed like wine. Yeah, yeah, I know, I
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: hear what you're saying, so, that's a good question. What
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: are you guys playing on?
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Well, I haven't planned yet my earlier in the day,
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: I'm going to ref three girls hockey games.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: I knew there had to be something.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Like three three games, and I'm going to work up
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: a really good appetite. But I don't know yet. It's
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: a great question. I like what he's saying, though. I
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: love the thought of beef and horse radish, Like that's
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: that's appeeling is good.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: It's a little song. Now the bread is much too
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: salty for my taste.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: I will be in New Orleans, so I have absolutely
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: that's right.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Yeah, working I sorry, crawfish jambalaya.
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: Looking forward to alligator not that. Oh it's so good.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: I can't do it.
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: I'll try anything twice.
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: People who have like even in Florida and things on
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: the menu, I'm like, I can't.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Do I have to stick to.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: What what?
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: What's the weird?
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: This is more of a cultural thing, but like octopus,
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: A lot of people think it's pretty weird, but I
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: think it's kind of normal.
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: See, I can't. I can't do the alligator of the
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: frog leg.
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: Alligator is probably the weirdest thing I've had deer.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I've had Newport jerky.
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: Has king Rue jerky that I've tried before that might
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: be weird too.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: We had a listener named Matt who was a hunter
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: and before the show he came here from Oregon. But
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: he came here and set up a grill in the
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: parking lot. This is not game day, this is like
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: a Tuesday and grilled elk and then brought it into
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: the show for us to eat.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: That sounds good.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: I'd eat that.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: It was.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: It was really good. Then we got in trouble for
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: having like open flires. No but the security.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: We wanted to have him do it in the kitchen,
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: but they wouldn't. They don't allow people to bring in
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: food from outside into the kitchen. I'm like, well, how
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: does all the did he shoot?
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: Wasn't Matt Light? Like killing turkeys on property is putting
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: them in the fridge?
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, duck.
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: So it's just who you are.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I say too.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: I listened to Matt patricia on on Edelman's podcast, and man,
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: did he have some Matt Light stories. And I feel
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: like I've heard some of them over the years, but
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: he sounded like a pain in the ass, Like it
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: sounded almost like dude, just chill, Like why does everything
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: have to be constant Frank's And yeah, I mean like
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: he talked about pranking Bill O'Brien and he had like
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: an app so that it came up as Robert Kraft
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: calling O'Brien and they're watching Bill O'Brien like look at
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: his phone and freak out and think that Robert's calling him,
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: And like the guy was relent.
- 1:03:48Speaker 8: They messed with scarneki Is like mouse for a whole
- 1:03:51Speaker 8: season two on his computer and all the IT guys
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: in like the IT guys are probably on the borderline.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: And being fied, right, because I think Matt Light was
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: just you know.
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: I moderated a panel last year with or maybe the
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: season before with Matt Light, and like within two minutes
- 1:04:07Speaker 8: I realized I am absolutely useless here. He's going to
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: carry this whole thing.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: And that means it was good. That means you did
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: a good job. You stayed out of the way. Yeah,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: you did a good job.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: Let him do his thing.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Patty's on the line, what's up, Patty? Yeah? What have
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: we got for a spread? On a week from Sunday?
- 1:04:31Speaker 20: I'm taking the Eagles. That's what I'm thinking.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: I'm not sure what the spread is though, I think
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: food wise, I meant food, Yeah, just spread.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: I could care less about your pick.
- 1:04:42Speaker 20: My wife's making her famous her grandmother's Italian old Italian meatballs.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Okay, old Italian meatballs.
- 1:04:51Speaker 20: Yeah, her old style, her old country italianata.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: The old country meets using that you have the veel
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: in there, got gravy or sauce on those meatballs.
- 1:04:58Speaker 20: Gravy, God, he's got a little bit of gravy.
- 1:05:01Speaker 14: No feel though that.
- 1:05:02Speaker 20: I'm a little disappointed. She doesn't use deal but she
- 1:05:04Speaker 20: uses round and ground beef. So I just want to
- 1:05:07Speaker 20: ask you guys. I know one of you brought it up,
- 1:05:11Speaker 20: but did any of you peruse the Daniel Jeremiah's top
- 1:05:14Speaker 20: fifty prospect list.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Deuce was talking about that earlier. Anything on screen.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:22Speaker 20: One thing that stood out was, I mean, if Carter's
- 1:05:26Speaker 20: not there or which probably he's not gonna be. Yeah,
- 1:05:30Speaker 20: I'm sorry, Fred If if if they think, if they
- 1:05:36Speaker 20: they test Will Campbell and think that he can play
- 1:05:38Speaker 20: left tackle, I think that's got to be the pick
- 1:05:41Speaker 20: because we got to protect the quarterback. Jeremiah like wrote
- 1:05:45Speaker 20: a great piece on him too. I think he had
- 1:05:46Speaker 20: him as his number eight prospect. But if you look
- 1:05:49Speaker 20: at what he said, he said, like as far as
- 1:05:51Speaker 20: like the arm length goes, he doesn't think it's going
- 1:05:53Speaker 20: to be concerned and he's like, barring any health problems,
- 1:05:57Speaker 20: this kid should play tackle for the next ten years. Yeah,
- 1:06:00Speaker 20: and really out of this draft.
- 1:06:02Speaker 14: More than anything.
- 1:06:03Speaker 20: That's kind of what I'm looking for, And I just
- 1:06:05Speaker 20: want to get your.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Guys thoughts on that.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Okay, thanks, Patty. Listen, if that's what they believe, that
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: he can play tackle for the next it's not a
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: bad pick. I think I'm not.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: Confidence that those guys think he can play tackle, But
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: him playing the next ten years is not the same
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: as playing well. Yeah, Eric Fisher played for ten years.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: I need better than that.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Yeah, But listen, if let's just if he was Matt
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: light Goood, would that be good enough? Yeah?
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Probably?
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: I just think you can't let me just go back.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: I feel like I heard Jerry maddle on in my head.
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: I think you've got to tell people who manager I
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: believe making all of us better. I believe that when
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: you look at the past four years, especially since I've
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: been here, the draft classes have been so bad for
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: the Patriots, minus a few people like Christian Gonzales, Marcus Jones,
- 1:06:58Speaker 6: et cetera. But I think you can't afford to go
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: into this draft saying if you play this person at tackle,
- 1:07:05Speaker 6: he could work out to be great. You have to
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: go in there and be confident about the person you're picking.
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: You cannot afford to go into this draft and do
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: the same thing you've done in the past four years
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: and go off a whim and pick someone and hope
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: it works out. You got to be really confident this
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: person is going to be a star player for you
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: for the next four years plus.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think I forget who wrote it. I
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: think it was Evan recently. But it seems to be
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: that Belichick's style of drafting leaned toward need rather than
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: best player, and that a lot of it was fitting
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: a certain thing that we wanted to see at that position.
- 1:07:42Speaker 6: I still didn't see how cold strange and you fit
- 1:07:45Speaker 6: into that right.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: And you're taking a big risk in the NFL because
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: now you're taking a guy to do a certain thing
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: from college into the NFL, and it's not always translatable.
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: So you told me that that time Cole Strange was fit,
- 1:08:00Speaker 6: your need was the best player on the board that fits.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: That's what they thought. That's what they thought.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: So I think that I would push back on that.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: I don't agree with that at all. I think all
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: teams picked for need, and I think that there's there's
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: a difference between and just making a bad pick doing
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: it for the wrong reason.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Well, there's a difference between we need a cornerback, and
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: we need a cornerback who does ABC No, we just
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: need a great quarterback. And I think, and look, this
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: is what So those are two That's what I said.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: Those are two different things, picking for need and picking
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: for specific skill sets. That's that's not the same thing. Right, Like,
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: they needed a guard that year, they picked the wrong guy.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: And I would argue that in general, you don't take
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: guards in the first round. Now, you could make an
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: argument that Indianapolis they took Quenton Nelson, Osyrus Torrens been
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: a really good guard in.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: The first round.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: I wouldn't take a guard in the first round guy
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: that you know is going to be a guard. Now,
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: Logan Logan Man was a tackle coming out. It's also
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: a little bit different. He was the thirty second pick,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: and he ended up playing guard at an all pro level,
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: And that's a great pick. I think that teams like,
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: if you just stay to your board, you're gonna end
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: up with guys that you don't need. Like, if you
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: just want to stay with your board all the time,
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: you don't want to reach to fill a need. That's
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: different than picking for need. You know, Bill Belichick, I
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: think had a tremendous amount of success drafting for ten
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: twelve years, taking guys like Ty Warren, you know, in
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: the first round. I mean, how many all those first
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: round picks year after year after year nailed every single
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: one of them. A lot of those picks were for need.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: They couldn't stop the run. In two thousand and two,
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: they went out and got Ty Warren in the first round.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: He probably wasn't the highest guy on the board at
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: the time, but he was an excellent fit for what
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: they needed, and he worked out really, really well.
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: So like you can pick for need and but get
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: it right. But it's easy to do that when you
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: have good players and then you're just filling hole.
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: Well that's why right now I wouldn't say, you know,
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: I think tomorrow earlier in the show you were talking
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: about so you guys think defense in the first round
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: as a post offense, not necessarily. I'm just trying to
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: figure out who the best player is, and I think
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: Abdul Carter might be the best player in the draft period.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: So if you were there at four, I'd have a
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: hard time, you know, passing him up. So I could
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: take Will Campbell, who I don't think is anywhere near
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: as talented is Abdul Carter. I need both of those spots.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: Right, That's where drafting for need hurts.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: You, right, or even compare him to Mason Graham, where
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: it's you know, you might have a really good defensive tackle.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Who's I mean, like not a top the needs list
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: or you get a server of suite.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: We need some things.
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: Yeah, And I want to say, like make sure people
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: hear me loud and clear and like, oh my god,
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: you don't think that these players are good that we
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: drafted Drake May excellent pick obviously, Marcus Jones. I love
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: what he brings his team. A lot of versatil like
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: there's players Pop Jugglass.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Like, but we all know the four people.
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: Yes, I just want to say, I just want to
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: say there. Yeah, Christian Gonzales excellent pick. So I want
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: to say that, like, I'm not saying that those were
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: bad picks, just I cannot get the thought out of
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: my head. For my first year here at the draft party,
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: we drafted Cole Strange. You could hear a pin drop
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: in the room.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: That was a bad pick. Yeah, that was around on
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: TV laughing at us.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: And it's not because of Cole Strange that it was
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: a bad It was just doesn't make sense to take
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: a guard. First of all, you took a guard. He
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: wasn't anywhere near the top guy on the board. He
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: wasn't even the top guard on the board at the time,
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: and you just overdrafted the position as well. That that pick,
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: I think is sort of how people now define Bill
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: Belichick's drafting strategy, and I don't think that's fair. I
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: think your other part that you said, like Nikhil Harry,
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: Nikil Harry was an end of the first round, top
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: of the second round that year.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: He got taken where.
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: Everybody thought he would would get taken where I think
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: that Bill kind of looks at as what you said, like,
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: is he a wide receiver who can.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: Play on all four downs? Will he block right, you know?
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Is he verse little to play inside out's like? No,
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: just just if you wanted to take a wide receiver there,
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: take the best one, right.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: That's AJ Brown right like and then AJ Brown goes
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: however many picks like.
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: But if you think that that DK Metcalf is better
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: than Kaneil Harry, you're an idiot, as Michael Lombardi famously.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Told me, Kyle and Pembroke last night, Felger and Mass
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: decided to criticize Evan for the repeated use of Coach
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: Rabel in his article. F both of them, especially Felger, Mister,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: why is it may at Rabel's press conference the wine bag.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Evan is a great reporter and a great writer. Also
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Catch twenty two and Pu are better than Felger and
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Mas any day. Yeah you hear that. Yeah, now that
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I'm done ranting, so get the compensated in a similar way.
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: Since we're better, I think we should.
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: You look at me, clip email and put in your newsletter.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: We greater than sign right?
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: How you do it? Now that you now that I'm
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: done ranting, thank you guys for all you've done. What
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: would you guys think of the patriots going after Khalil
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: Mack for a one or a two year deal.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: Sure, I think they need I don't hate it. Uh,
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: that's one spot. I feel the same way about wide receiver.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: I won't kick anyone out of bed like yeah him.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: I mean, you're gonna need somebody rushing off the edge
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: with some speed. And I mean maybe he's you know,
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: I think it a good year this year? Didn't he
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: was always okay?
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, good game against the Patriots again,
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Norman daytona beach. I agree with Fred me too. Josh
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: is no dummy. I'm guessing he's going to create his
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: offensive game plan to the strengths of Drake and whatever
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: weapons they add this offseason. Do you, guys and ladies
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: think he's coaching for his NFL life? Considering he wasn't
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: coaching last year and after to fail head coaching jobs,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: it didn't seem like he was highly pursued during his
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: years during the coordinator hiring cycle. Or is it we
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: just didn't hear about any interviews that he had.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know. I mean, there's also
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: be his last job, did they just Yeah, I mean
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: I agree with what Paul said, But you know was
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: it already kind of wink wink, No, not everybody knows
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: he's going there. I think there were reports connecting him
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: to here for a while. I also just bring up
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: that they interviewed I guess Eric b Enemy came out
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: a little bit later to add him to the mix.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I would just let me clarify, like, I think
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: that he'll be an offensive coordinator. Let's say he coaches
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Drake May for the next eight or ten years and
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: he's very successful with that, and then whatever the coaching
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: stat you know, he could he I think would be
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: in line to get more offensive coordinator work, whether it's here,
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: continuing here, or go to someone else's thing. But I
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: don't think he'll ever be a head coach again, tough.
- 1:14:53Speaker 6: Do you think that maybe if he didn't get any
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: other offensive coordinator interviews anywhere else, that it's because people
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: wanted to see more from him first, Like maybe they thought, Okay,
- 1:15:04Speaker 6: maybe he is yeah kind of in a box and
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: what he can do, like he really can do this,
- 1:15:09Speaker 6: but we don't know if he can do this.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Do you think that's why I think that he could.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: Prove that he is not just reliant on Bellichidy Belichick
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: and Brady. Yeah, yep, if he has a lot of success.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: Right now, you know with Rabel and Drake, may Zach
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: and Pennsylvania. This email is specifically for Mike and Paul.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Really looking forward to the upcoming podcast on the four Patriots.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Personally my favorite Patriots team of the Dynasty one point
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: zero era since they beat the Eagles. However, while he's here, please, please, please,
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: and Caps do not squander your opportunity Friday to finally
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: thank Matt Patricia for everything he did for us in
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: twenty twenty two. Please use your influence as the boss.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: I would say I really enjoyed him on Edelmans and
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: more more so just from my own private nerd them
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: because when I was blogging, like you guys all know,
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: I really like the defensive side of the ball, and
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: a lot of when Matt Patricia was coaching here, I was,
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: you know, we talked a lot about Nickel being the
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: new base and these were like, you know, arguments that
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: we would get in and people, you know, it was
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: a three four or four three, and it would be like,
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: it's not that anymore. And so Matt Patricia in a
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: couple of parts of that podcast just kind of rattle through,
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: you know, eight oh nine, ten eleven, like the evolution
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: of the defense schematically, which to me, and this is
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: maybe more a me thing, but I just I found
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: it kind of validating some of the things he said.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: I was like, that's what I was seeing, you know.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: And the cleip to lead thing we've we've mentioned on
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: the air. Once they got him, it felt like we're
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: going man defense now, and it was that just to me,
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: that was and he's crazy.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: The one that we were ahead of the curve when
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: they lost to Sante Samuel and Paul Andy and Fred
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: said they need a number one corner how many years
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: in a row? Yeah, they got to get they got
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: to replace that corner. They got to replace that ten eleven.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: Matt Patricia was telling you the same stuff that we
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: were complaining about all that.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: It wasn't until maybe fourteen that they find it was.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: Twelve, Yeah, twelve when they got to leave.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Went from age twelve.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: You know, they had the guy say it's Gilmore.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: Yeah, Gilmore. But you know, it's crazy how prepared Matt
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: Patricia was and just the detailed files that he keeps,
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: and you know, I know what people call him a
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: rocket scientist, but just he's obsessive about these things. And
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: he was talking a little bit now about how he's
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: using AI to start to like evolve his you know,
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: how he covers the team. So I don't know, took
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: a year off. I'm excited to talk to him tomorrow.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: And it was really interesting listening to him on the
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: podcast before. I felt really, you know, prepared to talk
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: to him tomorrow with a good background, so it'd be good,
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: try to get the most that I can out him.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: I don't know if I apologize for Fred or not,
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: but we'll probably I think I think I'm under orders
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: two thousand and four.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Only let's go to the TPX Christians in LA. What's
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: up Christian?
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: Hey you guys, Good morning to you. A good afternoon
- 1:17:54Speaker 9: as it is over there. So it seems like to
- 1:17:57Speaker 9: me with the draft, probably not going to get a
- 1:18:01Speaker 9: skilled player until the third round, right, like maybe at
- 1:18:04Speaker 9: Dull Carter first round he's there, or Will Campbell and
- 1:18:07Speaker 9: then vite versa.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: Well, you're making you're making an assumption that I don't
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: I don't no idea. I don't think. I don't know
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: if that's true or not.
- 1:18:15Speaker 9: I mean, from from what I'm hearing from what I'm
- 1:18:17Speaker 9: reading everyone's you know, the mock drafts are saying that
- 1:18:20Speaker 9: we're probably going to take Carter or Campbell in that
- 1:18:24Speaker 9: first and second round, So it seems like we probably
- 1:18:27Speaker 9: won't wind up with an offensive skill player until the
- 1:18:30Speaker 9: third round. I was looking at.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Carter and Campbell are first round picks, the top ten picks. Yeah,
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: so what about the second round? Yeah, you could take
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: a wide receiver. This, I mean, I'm not going to
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: quibble by. What I mean is that skill player.
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: Like it we take an offensive lineman or defensive lineman
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: first round, and then bye versa an offensive lineman or
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: defensive lineman second round, and then wait for the third
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: round to get the skill position that we're that we're
- 1:18:57Speaker 9: trying to finally get. So that's just what it's teams like.
- 1:19:00Speaker 9: I'm not saying that it is. I don't have a
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: crystal ball.
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: Agency.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: Yeah, Do you guys see anyone that particularly stands out
- 1:19:09Speaker 9: that you think would lie that far that we might
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: get our hands on. For example, the kid that's on USC,
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: who's who's the running back from USC. He happened to
- 1:19:20Speaker 9: be their their number one receiver. Both from the backfield
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: and from their wide receivers. Does that give you, guys,
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: Jamier Gibbs, like, you know, feelings if the guys the
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: number one receiver on USC, but he's their running back,
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: maybe something that we should target.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like if you're saying that he's slated
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: for first and he could go to second, I still
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: wouldn't pick.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: Him, you know, Yeah, No, they need receivers.
- 1:19:47Speaker 9: I mean yeah, I mean he was the number one
- 1:19:50Speaker 9: receiver on USC.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: They were a terrible team.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: They lost like six games.
- 1:19:57Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well that that's so.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: I mean, wasn't Remondre Stevenson like the leading receiver for
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: the Patriots a couple of years ago? Like did he
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: have did he give you any Jamier Gibbs Vibes.
- 1:20:10Speaker 9: Well, you know what, he did, not as fast, but
- 1:20:12Speaker 9: he was a multi.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: Talented so I do, Like, listen, if you want to
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: talk about this guy in the fourth round, okay, but.
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: Well that's what he's saying, like down in the third
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: or fourth round when he thinks they're going to take
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: that first.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: Out back then back in the forth Yeah sure, why not? Yep?
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: But I don't get Jremier Gibbs Vibes just because there
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: running back is the team's leading receiver, like Jamiir Gibbs
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: is an outstanding player.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Yeah I could.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: I grew with Paul, though, you gotta wait till free agency.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: Like there's a lot of holes to be filled.
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: What if they signed Stanley right now, right in free
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: agency and signed T Higgins as a wide rear, Like, yeah,
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: they could. There's a lot of things that can happen
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: in the months before the draft that will change everything
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: that we're talking about.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's just like.
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: That's what I'm hoping. I'm hoping that they get two
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: really good veteran wide receivers to add to room versus like,
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: you have enough young guys in there already that are
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: still developing, So I'm hoping that free agency would be
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: the time when you get those skill players and maybe
- 1:21:08Speaker 6: you can focus more on the draft on the defense.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: It's just funny because everybody just skips right over free agency,
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: Like you just have like two guys you T Higgins,
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: and that's free agency. That's the only guy in free agency. Like,
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: there's a lot of potential options and plenty that we're
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: you know, probably not even highlighting yet, but there's a
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: lot a lot of a lot of work to be
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: done before you get to the draft and needs and
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: projecting what they're gonna do.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Kendall's in North Carolina. Hey Kendall, Hey, Hey, you guys
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: doing good.
- 1:21:34Speaker 12: Get on one question for you guys. Paul might be
- 1:21:37Speaker 12: best for this one. I'm going to radio I got
- 1:21:41Speaker 12: credentials to my network for Super Bowl week next week,
- 1:21:43Speaker 12: so I'll be down there in New Orleans next week,
- 1:21:46Speaker 12: and we just want some advice where they had to
- 1:21:48Speaker 12: handle Radio Row down there. You know what goes on
- 1:21:51Speaker 12: at Radio Row and just how to approach it.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: So are you still there? Yeah, so you have credentials
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: as a media member. Okay, so I'm taking you don't
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: have like a table set up, You're just going to
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: be wandering around.
- 1:22:10Speaker 12: Well, the network get them apart.
- 1:22:12Speaker 14: I think they do.
- 1:22:13Speaker 12: I think they do have a table sit up, but
- 1:22:15Speaker 12: I think I'm gonna be wandering around.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Too, Okay. Yeah, I mean so Radio Row is quite
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: a thing. Yeah, I mean there's I'll be there.
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: There are radio stations from markets all over the country
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: and they they're on the air all the time. You know,
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: I know that my shows will.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Be there, So I would imagine your station has already
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: set up interviews. But what happens is all these people
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: like you know, uh, Joe Montana will come in, but
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: he's sponsored by Sketchers, so Sketchers is the reason he's there.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: So they try to set up interviews with him with
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: some of the bigger stations so that he can you know,
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: get in his plug and then they start talking football.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: But a lot of these guys have handlers and they
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: have schedules, so you have to be if you're not
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: at the table and you haven't already set up, you
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: have to be aggressive. You have to get out there
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: and try to drag them in or interview them, you know,
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: right where they're standing waiting for something. You have to
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: be aggressive. But you'll see guys. You'll see people like
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: not just sports celebrities, but just celebrities in and out
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: all day and it really heats up, Like from Wednesday
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: to Friday, it really heats up.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Early Monday, you tell Kendall what the experience is like
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: at the Super Bowl.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: Mike doesn't happen experience, But but that's the way that
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: you have to be aggressive. And later in the week.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: It later in the week, it really heats up. Saturday.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: I think it's a it's a it's dead, right, Yeah, everybody's.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: Okay Monday through Friday, especially as the week goes on
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: and it'll get busier and Fred I think very accurately
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: put it all together. There'll be all kinds of sports,
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: retired sports guys. There'll be you know, Hollywood type people around.
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: Every already has a handler. You know, there's a lot
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: of pr folk for something. Yeah, it's it's it's quite
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: a scene. It's it's overwhelming.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: I remember when we were in huh no, we're not going.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: Will be there, but she'll be working.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, yeah, all right, thanks Kendall. I mean luck
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: remember when we were at the Mall of Minnesota, Stern
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: had a set up.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: I don't remember if I wasn't there, that's right. All
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: I heard was everyone complaining about it.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: That was a good subtle left turn though with the head.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: I liked that. That was well done, calculated. It was
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: well done. I don't think it was calculated, but it worked. Yeah. So, uh,
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: it's it's a lot of fun. Radio it is Radio Row,
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: and it's not really Radio row anymore. No, it's a
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: huge row.
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: It's a huge room.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: I mean they have like elaborate sets with everyone's got
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: TV cameras.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: NFL, NFL Network and ESPM will have these huge you know,
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: probably Fox Sports, we'll have like these huge podium that that. Yes,
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: they'll have their area, and then everybody else is just
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: like rows and rows of desks, and you have your
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: setup and you have your you know, your backdrops and whatnot,
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: so everybody knows what station is what and what market
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: you're in.
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: That's when I come over and I appear and I'm
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: on in the middle of my set, and all of
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: a sudden, Stephen A. Smith comes over and it's like, Paula.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: And I got I gotta Paul, good to meet you.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: Brother Stith.
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: Really now, get out of my seat.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: You just you just said, Paul. It's pretty.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: These years later, friend of Stephen.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: Ye, that was that was a while ago. I would
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: imagine in Orleans, Uh, media rows in the convention center.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Is that right? I would thank you?
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably where I would put it.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: All right, who's this? Uh? Somebody named Nicolette on the line.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Who's this? Hello?
- 1:26:06Speaker 18: Is it me?
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: I don't know? Is your name Nicolette?
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: Me?
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: Nicolette used to work here.
- 1:26:18Speaker 21: I was actually hoping to be anonymous because I was
- 1:26:22Speaker 21: going to call in asking the girlies what they thought
- 1:26:27Speaker 21: about Taylor Swiff's bangs.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: Taylor Swift bangs, I am not allowed to have a
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: comment takes on Taylor Swift lately.
- 1:26:35Speaker 7: Are you sure you don't want to hear from him?
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: No?
- 1:26:38Speaker 21: Fred, what do you think about Taylor Swift's banks? Do
- 1:26:40Speaker 21: you think she's a little too old to have bangs?
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Oh? My god? Who?
- 1:26:47Speaker 6: No?
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: I mean, I love bangs on a girl, do you?
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: I do not even joking?
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: Like, is this something? So wait a minute. The last
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: time I saw Taylor Swift was during the last game. Obviously,
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: did she have the banks? Yeah? I didn't even notice.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Yeah no, I didn't even notice, Like it just looked
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: like Taylor Swift to me?
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: Is that Guyko also has a take that she not
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: only has bad bangs, but also bad outfits, like she
- 1:27:12Speaker 6: can't dress.
- 1:27:13Speaker 21: Oh a hundred percent, she dresses so horribly. You shouldn't
- 1:27:19Speaker 21: be somebody who has that much money and walking into
- 1:27:22Speaker 21: a stadium wearing what she wears.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: I know, but like if she all of a sudden
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: started dressing like Shizza who is not confused.
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: Like like that?
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: But but that's not her style. Like she she should
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: be true to herself. And I don't think she should
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: go and start dressing like Beyonce.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, okay, that.
- 1:27:49Speaker 21: You're you're like love in the slippies and on the
- 1:27:52Speaker 21: slippy side. But as somebody who was talking crab about
- 1:27:55Speaker 21: tailor slip in a video the other day and then
- 1:27:57Speaker 21: an earthquake happened, Oh no, that there's some weird butchery
- 1:28:01Speaker 21: magic going on. I'm just gonna say, I don't think
- 1:28:07Speaker 21: you should have bangs for longer than a year if
- 1:28:10Speaker 21: you're above the age of twenty.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Who was the girl on the sitcom This This Girl
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: or she has? I like her.
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: I like those.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: She's delightful and that was kind of like her things
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: health too, I think. Yeah, So I don't know. I
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: think I think it just depends it's pretty.
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: I just have to be pretty only because she's dating
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: Travis Kelcey in the Spotlight just so much that everyone
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: has a hatred towards her right now.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: I think it's fixed knowing her. It's part of her
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: next album that's coming out.
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: It's gonna be titled Banks.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: It's gonna be titled Banks.
- 1:28:54Speaker 21: I wear my Banks.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: The side.
- 1:28:55Speaker 21: I wear my banks with a hat.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: I wear my banks everywhere. Wow.
- 1:29:00Speaker 21: Now that's all I really had to say.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: I know, Taylor. I'm glad you said it here.
- 1:29:10Speaker 6: Nico knows that our off season all right, thanks Nico.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: Different Yeah, ironically its best numbers ever because we mentioned
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Taylor Swift.
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: There's a million people increased by three percent.
- 1:29:21Speaker 7: Hold on actual email.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: Hold on Ben Ben and Hershey, Pennsylvania Wright saying, he says,
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: Paul first, I give no credence to the tinfoil hat
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: theory that the NFL has raped or scripted in any way.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: That being said, your comments about the Swifties on Tuesday
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: was grossly understating the financial impact that Taylor Swift has
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: had on the NFL. A twenty twenty four report by
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Apex Marketing Group found that Swift's association with the NFL
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: and her relationship with Travis Kelcey has generated approximately three
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: hundred and thirty one point five million in brand value
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: for both the chiefs.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: And the NFL.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: An independent digital communications and marketing company reported that Swiss
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: presence has contributed to an estimated increase of over two
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: million female viewers if every NFL franchise had a Taylor Swift,
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: maybe the league could finally afford better instant replay technology.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: Okay, there's only one Taylor Swiss, so I'm well aware
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: of these reports. Yes, there's a reason why I took
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: the number three hundred million as an example.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: I didn't just make that up.
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: That's why, because I read the reports too. Yep, I'm
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: telling you I don't believe them. I don't believe the numbers.
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: I don't believe ratings. Fred will tell you this goes
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: back twenty years. The ratings, the breathless press releases that
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: we get that every game that's ever been competed is
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: broke the previous record for the biggest TV audience ever.
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: It's impossible to have every single game break a record,
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: but yet that's what the NFL will lead you to believe. Okay,
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: streaming Monday night, Sunday nights, Wednesday afternoon, every game is
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: more than the previous one.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: Except for I don't last week's championships were down.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: I don't believe the numbers, and I don't believe these
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: quote unquote independents.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Did a little bit.
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: So how many more people? How many more people were
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: at the game just out of curiosity? The answer zero.
- 1:31:28Speaker 7: Because sales days and it was a lot of little girls.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Because the game.
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: The game was sold out, like every other game is
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: sold out. Have they been oh, yeah, no, that every
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: game is sold out. Now they don't all show up,
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: but the games are sold out. I feel like we
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: had a lot of Since Robert Kraft has owned the team,
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: every game has been sold out, right, that goes back
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: to ninety four.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: But again they don't show up.
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: The girl he showed up that day with signs that
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: signs that said they all wanted to sailor under that
- 1:32:00Speaker 8: specific suite.
- 1:32:01Speaker 6: They all wanted to sit right below it, right, so you.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: Want to be able to turn around and look at
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: So that's what they wanted to do.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: So how many seats would you say underneath the Taylor
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: Swift sweet.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: Not three hundred million?
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: I'm going to guess there's not three hundred million.
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: Another number accurate, But I don't I don't think you
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: can deny that there's been an influx like Kylie Kells
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: Young Podcast.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: Of Young Men. Yes, I would absolutely say that.
- 1:32:26Speaker 7: That's why why do people even know.
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: Don't even get me on the side topic of podcasts.
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: Don't even get me on the ridiculous notion. Lou Holtz
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: is trying to tell me that eighty million people have
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: downloaded this. I do not believe those numbers at all. Ever,
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: that's ridiculous. If everybody was making what they claimed to
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: be making on a podcast, no one would do anything.
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: But podcast has podcasts that make a lot of money.
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: It's very very And let me see what happens, like, say,
- 1:32:59Speaker 4: actually a year of these so called you know, Joe
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Rogan's podcast.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Is ridiculous, the barstool ones.
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: Let's see what happens with all these other ones that
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: are claiming that they do they do better. We'll see
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: if they're still here in five years. But anyway, there
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: is absolutely more young women interested in the NFL because
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: of Taylor Swift. That's an undeniable fact. I just don't
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: think it puts a dent into the the overall number.
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: I don't think it's adding three hundred plus million in revenue.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: I don't think it's adding a significant amount. The rating
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: for the Sunday's game will be very close to the
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: rating for less the.
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: Challenge in the Super Bowl before that, the challenge for
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: the NFL, and maybe you can call it the opportunity
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: is converting these young women from Swift fans to NFL fans.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: I don't think that's happening. That's Fred's got a better
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: argument than me. What happens.
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: It's so shortsighted. If Travis Kelsey year, are they gonna
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: they're gonna give me breathless rep what's that they've dropped
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: by three hundred million because Taylor Swift is no longer involved.
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: I'll guarantee you you're not going to get that because
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: Travis Travis Kelsey is probably going to retire after the
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: game Sunday. So you lose Taylor Swift, are you're gonna
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: lose them undred and thirty five million in revenue? Does
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: anybody believe that that will happen?
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: What if he cheated on?
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: But also, it's not really revenue, it's brand values, right,
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: that's my point.
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: That's my point. Yes, in equity, Yeah, nonsense and the buzzwords,
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: and we're going to effort that.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: It's like you're in a you're a meeting.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: It's like going back to last year's head coach with
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: all the buzzwords and the silos and things that don't mean.
- 1:34:40Speaker 8: Well, it's a real number, specific revenue to it. If
- 1:34:43Speaker 8: it's physical people like viewers, it's hard to.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: Catch well a real numbers. City chief came out and said,
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: or NFL properties came out and said, we have X
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: amount more.
- 1:34:58Speaker 22: You know Kelsey j Travis Kelsey, you're so young women,
- 1:35:02Speaker 22: that's a real number and that I would buy, Like,
- 1:35:06Speaker 22: I'm not buy the shirt numbers.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: My guess is.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: Travis Kelsey shirt sales have increased. That would be a
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: pretty safe guest for me.
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: Can I get back to Taylor Swiftfield about everybody wearing
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: her boyfriend's jersey?
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: I'm much more I'm much more interested in this, this
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: larger thing with is this a thing like Taylor swift
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: can't dress like that's a common like women think questionable.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: I just like her music.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: But even when even when she dresses good song, even
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: when she tries to scantily, like you know, when she's
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: on stage and you know, she looks like somebody that's
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: a band major.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: Atte like, she she doesn't really that's a great band majorrette.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: Like, she doesn't really have the style of Beyonce for example,
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: you know, and but that's not her, that's not what.
- 1:35:57Speaker 7: She's more of the geeky girl in the play patterns.
- 1:36:01Speaker 8: Her best style was when she performed at the Victoria's
- 1:36:04Speaker 8: Secret Fashion show and she's so tall that she looked
- 1:36:07Speaker 8: like she could have been one of the models, and
- 1:36:09Speaker 8: it was great.
- 1:36:09Speaker 7: But if she's left to her own devices or.
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: I feel like this is taking me back to the
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: Devil Wears product, which is one of my favorite movies.
- 1:36:21Speaker 6: And when Anne Hathaway was hired, and yeah, she also
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: probably dressed. She dressed like Taylor Swift, not very well,
- 1:36:30Speaker 6: and she got an argument and was just like, I
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: just think that style is a preference. It's like, no,
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: it's not a preference.
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: You can dress.
- 1:36:41Speaker 8: Everyone like oversized Louis Vauton, like giant jacket that looks
- 1:36:48Speaker 8: like it was Travis's like off White, probably rolling over
- 1:36:51Speaker 8: in his grave, rest in peace.
- 1:36:53Speaker 7: And it's like red tights with like combat.
- 1:36:57Speaker 8: I just don't get out. It's like five years behind
- 1:37:00Speaker 8: and it's still even five years ago.
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: I also think that some people think that they can
- 1:37:04Speaker 6: dress because they're wearing something expensive, and just because you
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: put something expensive doesn't mean you know how to dress
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: or style it appropriately.
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: Okay, I'm just saying I know I like it.
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: Fred's favorite check.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: When it comes to sport style logo, it's a topic.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: It's not just for Taylor SWI fans, the players themselves.
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: Arrival photos are really important to the players these days
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: because they're wearing their own stuff or they're being asked
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: to wear stuff by you know, a local designer or
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: a big time it's a big point. It's and I
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: love it. I think it's a great it's it's a
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: it's an added feature of the NFL and pro sports
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: these days. It's great.
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: But that's the Tomar point about. It might be a
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: stylish outfit that she's wearing, but she shouldn't be wearing it.
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: Or like, as you talk about the players, how many
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: times used to play like wow, that's a really like
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: that's a really cool suit, but not everybody can wear it, Like.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: An offensive lineman can't be wearing.
- 1:38:08Speaker 8: Showing up in like a key on white outfit would
- 1:38:12Speaker 8: be I would pay money to see it, even if
- 1:38:14Speaker 8: it was just like, uh, you know when Ryan Fitzpatrick
- 1:38:18Speaker 8: came out with like the chain on and.
- 1:38:22Speaker 4: Christian from but Christian might be able to pull it off,
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: whereas you know, it looks totally different on Cooper Cup.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: You know, remember when Lebron wore his suit with the
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: shorts and like, you know, we stormed out of the
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: press wearing these shorts. Lebron a few years ago, like
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: he had like a regular suit on, but it was
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: short pants.
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: I think a lot of those styles are awful, but
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: you know, I'm not the demographic, you know, fifty six
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: year old white guy, Like I don't get it, you.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: Know, but well it's not for me.
- 1:38:54Speaker 8: That's like when we were in Germany, I was wearing
- 1:38:57Speaker 8: a really chic, all white outfit with like a long
- 1:39:00Speaker 8: and an unfortunate situation.
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: Say so herself.
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: She was wearing a really chic outfish well killing.
- 1:39:07Speaker 8: Who the billionaire says it, But I spill the MORELSS stories.
- 1:39:12Speaker 8: An unfortunate situation happened and I got red wine spilt
- 1:39:16Speaker 8: all over my outfit and it was all white, and
- 1:39:18Speaker 8: we go back to the team hotel in Germany and
- 1:39:21Speaker 8: I'm like, I look ridiculous.
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: This is so embarrassing, and security Brian is like, I.
- 1:39:25Speaker 8: Don't know if one of the players rolled up on
- 1:39:26Speaker 8: game day wear and that would probably look normal, flattered
- 1:39:30Speaker 8: all over.
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: You know, It's like that's a good way to look
- 1:39:32Speaker 7: at it.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: It's the wine line.
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: Like that, there we go the wine line.
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: I like that conversation. I'm learning something.
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: I'm just surprised because I just like and I also
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: learned that Mike likes Banks.
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan, like to get bang. Everybody's
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: got a type, Johnny and Madtown writes in I hate
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: to be that guy. Actually, I don't give us one space.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: I beg of you one where we don't have to
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: hear about Taylor's She's Voldemort from here on out. We
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: don't say their name.
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: I don't know what that means.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: That's from Harry Potter.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: Did you realize that you had quoted? You did a
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: Taylor Swift song quote while you're doing your things should
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: not be left to her own devices. She's left your
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: own a devices? Like were you working in quotes the
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: whole time? I didn't even realize.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: I think, oh, that happens to me all the time.
- 1:40:15Speaker 7: Is just embedded in my brain, and it'scious.
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: Ford and Savannah says, the only way that three hundred
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: million more fans are going to tune into the NFL
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: is if the Kansas City Chiefs turn into Fleetwood Mac
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: of the NFL. And Swift has an affair with my
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: homes man, I can't say I'm not rooting for that
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: level of drama. Well, that's that's the danger with those
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: That's that's what's going to bring the bills down. You
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: watched Imagine Imagine that it's not gonna last her three
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: way affair and she turned.
- 1:40:43Speaker 15: To h.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: Tony Braxton online too. This is how the NBA works.
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: Is not cute.
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: Have you guys seen his brother? He doesn't have a relationship.
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: You're not five years old. Alert Tyler get a real
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: haircut home.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: It's like, it's like, I think, I think he's got
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: terrible quarterback style. I think he's amazing, he's a great player,
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: but just to look at him aesthetically, and I love, like,
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: I love aesthetics. I'm like, he just like the head
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: thing and the bad helmet and like it's too high on.
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: He does this.
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: I love that that picture right there, that is the
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: perfect quarterback esthetic.
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: I do feel like you have to have a certain
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: level of swag to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: He just don't care. He's great, Like, but you know.
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: It's just like, and I will say that his style
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: might not be but he's got quarterback swag, and I
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: agree with every great quarterback has it have it.
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: Like Manning his head cop to the side like Manning
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: had weird kind of ticks to like. That was another
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: thing about Manning, Like a Brady to me was just perfect,
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: like he just looked quarterback.
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: I bet that's the quarterback.
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: No question with Brady and I I mean Manning too,
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: but just I never like Manny's face mask.
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: He was always you know, jumping in the pocket.
- 1:41:59Speaker 7: You're saying is the Manning brothers are not as fortunate?
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: Don't even get me on. No, I mean like Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: Right now, Joe Burrow, of course, Joe Burrow to Joe cool.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: I think Lamar Jackson's got great style.
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: Like he looks the part Hurts and his fiance are like.
- 1:42:15Speaker 8: The talk about good styles.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: Is almost too cool. I was too cool. I have
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: so chill.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, I hate those new helmets without the
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: bar across the top. They look stupid. Don't wear them
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: anyone ever.
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: Why are you so fix like.
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: He's like the helmet police.
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: And healthy quarterback aesthetics?
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: Please?
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: You know what I'm talking about.
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: In our meeting last week, who said that he thinks
- 1:42:43Speaker 6: that the silver pants are like just overused.
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: To your dead.
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: Ye, going for it, especially with the white pants, the
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: uniform that doesn't match the better than blue. The blue
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: with the silver pants is fine. White with the silver
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: pants doesn't doesn't match in the pants just look dirty.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: If you ask, what.
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: Very what if we were those Jerseysiu.
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: Bell writes in what does everyone think of Pasta's outfit
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: he wears to the rink for every nationally televised game. Well,
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: i'd have to pay a check. I love.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: I think you gotta like you gotta have you know,
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: you gotta appreciate like the Western, the Eastern European kind
- 1:43:21Speaker 3: of stylity that he rocks.
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: So, I don't know.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: I always give those guys a little.
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: Like the glass gonna wear different brackets for like Celtics,
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: like NBA arrivals, NFL arrivals, and then hockey like screwing
- 1:43:36Speaker 6: around different buckets.
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: Yeah, totally ye.
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: Robert writes in Uh, it's great to hear Tamara's voice
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: on the show once again. I started to get worried
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: that I missed an announcement that she was moving on. Uh,
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: we have an announcement?
- 1:43:53Speaker 6: What was that?
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: On Tuesday? Show. I love the Mike Paul exchange about
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: Josh's role in Brady's development? Is this the first time
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: that they have had such a heated exchange? High five
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: after the show. I say this in jest, as I
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: was fully anticipating dudes quoting Raliota from Goodfellas to end
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: the show. How How am I funny?
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: That was fun? It was fun?
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: Just to be clear, that's a Joe Peshy line on
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: a radio funny scared somebody like that?
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: Like I love that character in that thing, Like he
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: just all of a sudden turns and is that much
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: of like oh God, Like no, dude.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: We were all you know, you got it all wrong. Boy,
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: he knows what he said right right, and you're like
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: getting uncomfortable.
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: And that's why I think it was satisfying when they
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: finally got him at the end, you know, you just
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: do Finally the bad.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: Guy was going, I want to go back to something.
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: I want to actually turn back to football for a second.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: Eldred said something and uh an email kind of triggered
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: it about a rumor about a trade.
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: Joe Milton to the Raiders. I hadn't heard that. I
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: had heard a lot of Joe. Milton's gonna, you know,
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: get us vintage Tom Brady in a trade. I'm sorry
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: if I'm going to be a little skeptical of that.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: But do you think that somebody liked the Raiders, Let's
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: say they bring in uh, Russell Wilson, like, maybe they
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: want to get a guy like Milton to kind of
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: develop behind him.
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: I'd like to ask, I'd like to ask, why would
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: you just draft one that? I'd like to ask, because Milton,
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: you can He's got an arm, He's got an unbelievable Yeah.
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: So maybe they But if you're just looking for a
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: developmental mobile quarterback, just draft one. Why are you going
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: to give up a rear?
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: Because maybe you see something in Milton specifically that you
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: say this guy can do it.
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: Well, they're not going to be able to trade up
- 1:45:43Speaker 6: and get one a good one right now?
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: The Raiders. Yeah, yeah, Now Fred's saying that they will
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: sign like Russell Wilson to play, but they want Milton
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: as a backup.
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: I don't know why you want to trade not a backup,
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: a developmental future guy.
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: I don't know why you would trade for that.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: No, I don't know.
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: I mean that's I mean because you love them.
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: Well, then why are you signing Russell Wilson just trade
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: from Joe Milton is not ready yet? Why do you
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: have to be so difficult?
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: Because I don't think. I just I can't get past
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: the fact that he's like the two undredth pick of
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: the draft and play the game and now he's worth
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: giving up resources to be your developmental guy. That's better
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: than anybody coming out of the draft.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: Now, what about a fifth round pick? Is that too
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: much to ask? I mean, I wouldn't do it if
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: I were the Raiders, but I don't know.
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: Someone might, Okay.
- 1:46:29Speaker 6: I also, I'm just intrigued. I was shocked that they
- 1:46:31Speaker 6: hired such an old coach because I was expecting, like, Okay,
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: if you're drafting a young quarterback, wouldn't you want your
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: coach to be around.
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: To develop and think they're going to be able to
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: draft a young quarterback. That's the problem the way they are.
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: But yeah, I think the Pete Carroll Higer.
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: Was it was strange, and if it's true that it
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: was a Tom Brady choice.
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: Is in question.
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: So here's one that I'm going to kill my show.
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: Yeah right, they're big on this.
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: Rather have Tom Brady. Why why didn't Robert Kraft do
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: this for Tom Brady?
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: Why didn't.
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: So he his first big move is to sign Pete
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: Carroll as the coach. And this is the thing that
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: you're trying to tell me is why we should be lamenting.
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: This is our fomo.
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: Like they got Pete Carroll, Like, why on earth would
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: you lose an ounce of sleep like that could have
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: been us.
- 1:47:22Speaker 6: Seriously, I thought they were going to try to get
- 1:47:24Speaker 6: Ben Johnson. So when they got Pete Carroll, was.
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: Like, huh right, why maybe they tried Maybe Tom Brady's
- 1:47:30Speaker 4: you know, gravitas could get you the best coach on
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: the market.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: No, what got you?
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: Pete Carroll? Who isn't I'm not diminishing his career, but
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: he's seventy three years old. What are you going to
- 1:47:41Speaker 4: get out of Pete Carroll? And now they're trying to
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: link him with a quarterback, Well, now Tom Brady, who
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: probably he'll probably want a guy that he knows that
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: you know, he can be comfortable with, you know, like, oh,
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers makes all the sense of what this is?
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: What's like this is like inspiring confidence. This is the plan.
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: This is the plan that you think we should be
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: lamenting missing out on Pete Carroll and Aaron Rodgers. Those
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: are my guys.
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: I heard it another trade. AJ writes in he hears
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: a rumor about a t J. Watt trade.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: So I saw this on online. I don't think it
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: was reputable anyway. And I got the text from my son,
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: DJ texted me yesterday. Are we really in line to
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: get t J Watt? I go, I don't think sobody,
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: Ah damn, yeah, take them.
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:31Speaker 6: While I would like that, I would also.
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: Not like that, Oh oh right, uncle Mike, and you
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: take it.
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: I would not like that we were going to say
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: I actually have some ins information.
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: There's no way I feel they're gonna let him walk
- 1:48:46Speaker 6: out the door. I feel like he's the type person
- 1:48:49Speaker 6: that's going to be like a Steeler for life.
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I mean, I love the people are
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: throwing these big splashes out there because I think that's
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: what the team needs. And it's hard to project what
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: stories can happen. You know, they usually come out of nowhere.
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: I'm sure you guys can all talk to that of
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: you know trades that you're like, we just traded rich.
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: You know, it's never the it's never the people that
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: you're really speculating on. It's like, Wow, this deal just
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: kind of came together. I think that's what they need
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: this offseason.
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: Jeremiah says, I totally agree with the whole quarterback swag thing.
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: Whenever Mac Jones walked across the stage the draft night,
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: I knew he was going to be a rough tenure
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: in New England. Yeah, it's just a look.
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: I'd also put it on.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: I need to speak to the manager.
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: Like Willia McGuinness is like just the perfect outside linebacker
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: fifty five, like the old school, Like I just I
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: love that.
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: I love it. Eduardo says last podcast, there were no
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: ladies and Deuce was looking mighty fresh. The beautiful ladies
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: Alex and Tamara are both on and Deuce is in
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: an old hoodie. Come on, man, do better?
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: No sorry, as a little throwback, it's a nice that's
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: actually a nice hoodie.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: Does anyone want to guess? So this a Bill Belichick?
- 1:49:53Speaker 6: You know, I'm the hoody guy looking very Bill BELI is.
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: It's old.
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: I didn't cut it off yet, but there was a
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: famous playoff loss in this particular hoodie. It was cut off.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: Does anyone care to Adventure guests on which playoff loss
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: Bill Belichick wore this particular hoodie with a cut off exactly,
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: this just cut off.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: It had to be Ravens.
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: Yeah, no, wow, earlier, No, really, twenty ten he was
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: still with twenty ten Jets. I was literally one game
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: changed in twenty twelve. Twenty twelve was when Rebok went
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: away and and Nike took over. But yeah, two famous
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: things with this one was, yeah, he wore this in
- 1:50:27Speaker 3: the Jets game. It was cut off. You might remember
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: him yelling at Patrick Chunk about calling that fake punt
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: that fired on the sidelines. And then in twenty seventeen,
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: long after Rebok was no longer the hoodie supplier of
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: the NFL, in the playoff game against the Titans, he
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: had this on underneath his jacket. And I'm at like
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: a bar me and fits. He did like a bar
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: party for the game, and everyone's excited about the playoff game,
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: and I'm.
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: Like, he's wearing a rebold hoodie. In twenty seventh, because.
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: You're not supposed to, let you.
- 1:50:54Speaker 7: Know, he couldn't show the old logo logo.
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: So I don't know that was that was, you know,
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: that's a little insight into my nerd.
- 1:51:00Speaker 7: Have you had that this whole time? Or was that
- 1:51:02Speaker 7: an eBay final?
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: No, I've had this one. This is personally I bought
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: this actually in my own mind's in good condition. Yeah,
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: pretty good, pretty good.
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: So she has never seen the Drive since.
- 1:51:10Speaker 6: Seems to be into coaches style. What's a freaking style?
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: Is guy.
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: Windbreaker sleepless wim breaker with like a tight long sleeve on.
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: I don't know, it's definitely yeah, it's definitely got to
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: look quick.
- 1:51:23Speaker 7: Yeah, he's got to look can tell he's like giving
- 1:51:26Speaker 7: finance bro.
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: He's got the long arms.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: I think that's.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: You know what I just thought though, long arms, Right,
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: it's probably the opposite of Belichick always said to cut
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: the hoodies off because he had short arms. So I
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: think Mike go's vest with the long sleeves so that
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: his arms have, you know, are free to accentuate his
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: arms accentuate him. You know, when he does remember the
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: push ups before the playoff game I did.
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: I didn't care for that.
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: We should ask him about that.
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: Now I'll be consistent and say I agree with Fred.
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: It was a heart old move. Fred will now love
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: it when he does it. Opening Day now, what was
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: the last Chargers coach name? Brandon Steele Brand.
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: And Staley doing the cat cows on the sideline with
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: like his back arching and the it's a real yoga term.
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: I know, thank you.
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: That was from I did cat cows this morning.
- 1:52:16Speaker 17: I know the term.
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: I know the term, but no, I don't know what
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: it is.
- 1:52:20Speaker 6: It's not something you should be doing on the side
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: of you know, No.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: Definitely not.
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: It's it's very Yeah, no, I'll hurt myself.
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: All the ladies would get a little hot and bothered. Paul.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: Let's get to the line a couple more calls before
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: we have to call it quits. Uh. Today, Robert is
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: in Henderson? Is that in Las Vegas, Nevada? Yeah, Robert, Robert,
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: Robert is no longer there. Three to one, we'll going Henderson, Nevada.
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: We'll go to l. A. Nelson? What's up?
- 1:52:52Speaker 6: L A.
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: Nelson? All right? Nelson, don't swear talking about.
- 1:53:02Speaker 14: Losing a little bit over there? I know?
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: Is that it?
- 1:53:10Speaker 10: No?
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: One more thing?
- 1:53:12Speaker 15: What?
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: What? What?
- 1:53:13Speaker 9: What's everybody thinking.
- 1:53:14Speaker 14: That Kelsey better than Gronk.
- 1:53:15Speaker 9: I don't think Kelsey is better than Gronk. Bronk is
- 1:53:18Speaker 9: the best tight end ever, and that the hopefully I
- 1:53:21Speaker 9: wondered wonderful day.
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: Okay, thanks Nelson.
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: I think the best all around is Gronk is better.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: But man, you can't argue with Kelsey's production and his winning.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: I mean, who's going to deny that? No, I mean
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: it's it's unbelievable the numbers he's put up.
- 1:53:39Speaker 6: Do you think that he would have the same production
- 1:53:42Speaker 6: on another team like anywhere else?
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: Well, I think Patrick Mahomes has a lot to do
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: with that, obviously, and Andy reed, But you could say
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: the same thing with Gronk, like if he was with
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: Cleveland all those years or you know what, do you
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: have had? No, of course not and a lot of people.
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: The thing they're pointing to with Kelsey mostly is his
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: playoff production in the last seventeen games, eighteen touchdowns, amazing,
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: thirteen hundred yards. It's it's like in the biggest games,
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: you can't deny that. So like, let's give him his
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: due and he also let's not get this particular game.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: I don't think he holds a candle to Gronk overall,
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: but in this particular game he blocked really well too.
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: Now, if Gronk was as healthy as Kelsey has been.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Not that Kelsey hasn't had injuries, but Gronk had big
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: injuries and it stunted his career a little bit, absolutely
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: broke his army to embraced the rest of them.
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: I mean knee that Cleveland kneed.
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: We probably would have had another Super Bowl if he
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: wasn't hurt.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: I don't know what it would have been like in
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: Indianapolis for you guys, but I'm sure it would have.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Been James Pettigrew in Indianapolis. It was a great week, Joe,
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: James Pettigrew the most interesting Patriots fan in the world.
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: Rights in. When Joe Burrow smokes a cigar, it looks
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: like he earned it. When Mac Jones smokes his gar,
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: it looks like he stole it from his dad's humidor.
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: I will check.
- 1:55:02Speaker 6: I will say everyone should not be allowed to do
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: that after a big win.
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: Smoker.
- 1:55:08Speaker 6: Yes, you have to have earned it, as he said,
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: but also have the swag to do it like just
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: everyone does not look right doing it.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: I know it's true, you can't do it. Not everyone
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: can do like he looked good in college.
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: Yes, yes, I will never forget his senior night doing
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: that like.
- 1:55:25Speaker 7: I never will yep, the camera Lsu had too on him,
- 1:55:28Speaker 7: like so good.
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: I stole one of my dad's cigars once in front
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: of my friends and smoked and I threw up.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: Well because you inhale and inhale, I'm cool. Sorry, guys,
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: I go home. I smoke. Let me tell you, Cincinnati
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: doesn't deserve Joe Burrow. He needs to be in New York,
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: like he should not be.
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: And me and Matt we gotta love him because he's
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: a major star wars nerd. I think it's so funny
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: he bought like like a Batman suit, like he's by
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: a ball feel like, I just love that he's a nerd.
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: But everybody thinks he's super cool.
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: I love it. Does he have a girlfriend? Yeah, that's
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: why I knew he has a thing for.
- 1:56:06Speaker 7: Women named Olivia.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: A roster as well.
- 1:56:10Speaker 7: He had his long term girlfriend was.
- 1:56:11Speaker 8: Named Olivia, and then some people were speculating they broke up,
- 1:56:15Speaker 8: and then he had a break in and a sports
- 1:56:18Speaker 8: illustrated model named Olivia is the one who was the first.
- 1:56:22Speaker 7: Reporter to the police.
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: What was her, guys, though, Like, what was she supposed
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: to be? Like, wasn't she supposed to be like his
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: house sitters.
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: They said that she.
- 1:56:28Speaker 7: Worked for him. Sports Illustrated.
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: Working the words of a former coach. He said it,
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: Roberts and Henderson. He's calling back, what's up, Robert? Hello?
- 1:56:48Speaker 14: Sorry it might be late in the show.
- 1:56:49Speaker 13: I got disconnected. But my question for you today, if
- 1:56:56Speaker 13: the chief three p is it officially, is it better
- 1:56:59Speaker 13: than what the Patriots did? Is it a better dynasty?
- 1:57:03Speaker 13: As Andy Reid?
- 1:57:05Speaker 9: Does he pass Bill Belichick.
- 1:57:07Speaker 13: I don't think Patrick Mahomes quite little past Tom Bray
- 1:57:10Speaker 13: with this repeat, but he's definitely like, keep climbing the ladder,
- 1:57:14Speaker 13: and I want to know what you're comparison.
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: So they Yeah, the Patriots did not repeat, So if
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: the Chiefs do that, it's something the Patriots never did.
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: But the Patriots sustained the type of success winning Super
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: Bowls for twenty years, and that's something that to this time,
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: the Chiefs have not done yet. So let's see, right now,
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: the Patriots dynasty is better than the Chiefs dynasty, but
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: the Chiefs are on track if they keep doing this
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: to be better.
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: I totally agree that's one hundred percent what it is.
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: I would just say that Mahomes is ahead of schedule.
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Mahomes is done so far and his time
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: as the starter is greater than what Brady did at
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: the same time.
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: But think about it in perspective too, like the Chiefs Mahomes,
- 1:57:56Speaker 3: Andy Reid winning like the twenty thirty six super Bowl,
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: you know, like that's the longevity, which look it could
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: they might bang out five, six, seven of them before
- 1:58:04Speaker 3: twenty thirty whatever, and it's better. But still just that's
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: what's overwhelmed.
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: But what happens if they don't have a ten year gap?
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: I mean, I're just different.
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: That would be my concern. No, I'm saying as a
- 1:58:15Speaker 2: Patriots fan, I would worry about that even that ten
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: year gap. Within the gap with three were super Bowls
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: that they got to when they lost, and a lot
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: of AFC championships that they were in. So it wasn't
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: like they stopped winning during that gap. No, no, no.
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: But my point being right now, like I think it's
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: seven years, Yeah, seven years, Mahomes has three titles, same
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: as Brady, but also two other tips to the Super Bowl, yep,
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: And that's better than what Brady did. Sure, So what
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: if he keeps doing this, then he's going to be better.
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: But I know, but people just dismissed that as out
- 1:58:54Speaker 2: of hand. Is my point, that can't happen. Happen. I
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: got news for you.
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: As long as he's healthy, it can happen, right right,
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: I agree, Like they're not just going to miss the
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: playoffs like which I think you might have predicted last
- 1:59:05Speaker 4: year when their window closed.
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: They started out slowly. I was onto something that was
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: two years ago out That's what.
- 1:59:10Speaker 4: I'm saying last year, not this year.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: I'm still going. But here's the thing about the Patriots dynasty.
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: You know, in the twenty year span, even if you
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: look at the dynasties of the past, the forty nine Ers,
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: the Steelers, the Cowboys, they didn't do what the Patriots did.
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: So Patriots redefined what it means to be a dynasty
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: in the NFL. And it's the duration and the winning
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: throughout that. And so could the Chiefs do that? Yes
- 1:59:40Speaker 2: they can, Yes they can. They're on track to do
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: it and to do better, I don't think. But there's
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: a lot. There's a lot that can happen between now
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: and then, and that's why the odds are against it.
- 1:59:51Speaker 4: But I don't see if it's if you're just going
- 1:59:53Speaker 4: to go strictly, you know, chronological. It's the amount of years.
- 1:59:56Speaker 4: I don't think Mahomes will play until his mid forties.
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 1:59:59Speaker 4: I think he might win more than Brady did before
- 2:00:01Speaker 4: he's done. That's why he won't play into his mid forties.
- 2:00:03Speaker 4: That's probably because I don't think he has any interest
- 2:00:05Speaker 4: in it.
- 2:00:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think. I don't think Andy Reid is
- 2:00:07Speaker 6: going to be coaching.
- 2:00:08Speaker 4: Don't think.
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: I don't think he'll want to do that. Really, I
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: think he loves football, Yeah he does, but I don't
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: think he wants to play when he's forty five. Well,
- 2:00:14Speaker 2: see if he can't be wrong. Yeah, all right, that's
