Today we're reviewing the dentist phrases from episodes 171 and 172. Luna: Oh good, because I need the practice. That was a lot. Lucas: We'll take it slow. First phrase: j'ai mal aux dents. Luna: J'ai mal aux dents. That's 'I have a toothache,' right? Lucas: Exactly. Let's hear it again: j'ai mal aux dents. Luna: J'ai mal aux dents. Lucas: Great. Now imagine you're at the dentist and they say: ouvrez la bouche. Luna: That's 'open your mouth.' Ouvrez la bouche. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's combine them. Say you have a toothache and the dentist asks you to open your mouth. Luna: J'ai mal aux dents. Ouvrez la bouche. Lucas: Nice. Now, the dentist might ask if something hurts. They might say: ça fait mal? Luna: Ça fait mal? That's 'does it hurt?' Lucas: Right. And you can answer: oui, ça fait mal. Or if it's really painful: c'est douloureux. Luna: C'est douloureux. That means 'it's painful.' Lucas: Yes. And the dentist might find a cavity: la carie. Luna: La carie. That's 'the cavity.' Lucas: Let's hear all of them in a row. Repeat after me: j'ai mal aux dents, ouvrez la bouche, ça fait mal, c'est douloureux, la carie. Luna: J'ai mal aux dents, ouvrez la bouche, ça fait mal, c'est douloureux, la carie. Lucas: You've got it. Now let's imagine a quick scene. You're at the dentist. You say: Bonjour docteur, j'ai mal aux dents. Luna: Bonjour docteur, j'ai mal aux dents. Lucas: The dentist says: Ouvrez la bouche, s'il vous plaît. Luna: Ouvrez la bouche, s'il vous plaît. Lucas: Then they ask: Ça fait mal ici? You say: Oui, c'est douloureux. Then they say: C'est une carie. Luna: So I have a cavity. J'ai une carie. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's do it one more time with feeling. You ready? Luna: Yeah. J'ai mal aux dents. Ouvrez la bouche.
