- 0:16Speaker 2: what's up?
- 0:16Speaker 1: It is yours truly, Jason Derulo, right here on the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Small Z Show.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Jason Derulo on the show. Wonderful to see you. Can
- 0:23Speaker 2: I start by saying, as always, so well-dressed. Like, just
- 0:29Speaker 2: an absolute fashion icon you are.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Thank you so much. I appreciate you, my brother.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Now, I remember the last time you were here in Australia,
- 0:38Speaker 2: you came in for an interview, and you had a
- 0:41Speaker 2: little light, a man who held a light for you,
- 0:44Speaker 2: so you were always lit at the right angle. Are
- 0:49Speaker 2: you bringing him back with you this time?
- 0:50Speaker 1: No, there's been a budget cut, so I was going
- 0:53Speaker 1: to ask you, is it sunny.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Over there because.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We don't got the lighting guy anymore, so now we
- 0:59Speaker 1: just got to use the sun.
- 1:01Speaker 3: We can only shoot in the daytime.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. Look, it sounds like the economy is crunching.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It's affecting everyone, even Jason Derulo. No, I think you're
- 1:12Speaker 2: in China at the moment, and you're going to be
- 1:14Speaker 2: here in Oz next week, yeah?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yes, sir. Yeah, man, I'm super excited.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It feels like it's been forever since I toured Oz,
- 1:22Speaker 1: so I'm looking forward to it, man.
- 1:24Speaker 3: It's going to be pretty mad.
- 1:26Speaker 2: We love, we, you know, Australia loves, uh, Jason Derulo, man,
- 1:29Speaker 2: you have so many songs. I'm sorry. Sorry.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I say that like, you don't know, but like you
- 1:36Speaker 2: have so many songs, so many bangers. Like when you
- 1:41Speaker 2: put together, when you put together a set list, how
- 1:44Speaker 2: do you pick the good ones and like, make sure
- 1:46Speaker 2: like the fans get a taste of everything?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Um, I listen, man, you know, I think there's, you know,
- 1:51Speaker 1: some artists out there that, uh, are so into what
- 1:56Speaker 1: they do and what they want to do that they
- 1:59Speaker 1: curate a show that they want. But I really got
- 2:02Speaker 1: to pay attention and listen to the audience and give
- 2:05Speaker 1: the audience what they want.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So I don't have one of those shows where you'll
- 2:09Speaker 3: come and be like, damn, I can't believe he didn't
- 2:12Speaker 3: play that joint. But although I can't play them all.
- 2:16Speaker 2: When I said you have so many, like you, dare
- 2:19Speaker 2: I say, you could do a Taylor Swift eras tour
- 2:23Speaker 2: and you'd have to do two, you'd have to do
- 2:25Speaker 2: two nights just to do all the hits. Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I wouldn't go that crazy, but I think, I think
- 2:34Speaker 1: Taylor be performing for like four hours.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Let's do it different.
- 2:37Speaker 1: But yeah, man, I think the most common comment is always, damn,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I didn't realize I knew that many of your songs. Um,
- 2:46Speaker 1: But yes, it's been a long 15 years, man. And
- 2:50Speaker 1: I've released quite a bit of material. And I think
- 2:52Speaker 1: it's easy to kind of forget, you know, the songs
- 2:55Speaker 1: that I've released.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So I saw Bruno Mars last week. He's got a
- 2:59Speaker 2: tour coming to Australia next year. I asked him a question,
- 3:01Speaker 2: which I'm going to ask you, which is after 15
- 3:04Speaker 2: years and such a huge catalog of songs, what do
- 3:09Speaker 2: you reckon is the best song you've ever written?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Um, I'm going to go to some songs that the
- 3:17Speaker 1: world may not know.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Um, so I think, uh, I, I'm really in love
- 3:26Speaker 1: with a song called if I'm lucky, um, that the
- 3:30Speaker 1: average person might not know.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And I'm also really in love with a song called Cheyenne.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Oh my God. No, stop, stop.
- 3:38Speaker 2: It's on my list as one of your all time best.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Oh, so you know what? Smalls, I should have known, man.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You know what's going on, bro.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I was going to joke and say, I think Spicy Margarita,
- 3:50Speaker 2: but then I was going to come back and say Cheyenne.
- 3:53Speaker 2: But I am so glad you said that is such
- 3:57Speaker 2: a great pop song.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Thank you, man.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And, you know, ironically, we're just talking about Taylor, but
- 4:02Speaker 1: that's actually Taylor's favorite song of mine. That's Michael Jordan's
- 4:06Speaker 1: favorite song of mine as well. And it's my favorite
- 4:09Speaker 1: song of mine. And I thought it was going to
- 4:11Speaker 1: be a smash hit. If I'm being honest.
- 4:15Speaker 3: It was a hit.
- 4:15Speaker 2: If Michael Jordan tells you it's his favorite song, who
- 4:18Speaker 2: gives a f * * * what anyone else thinks?
- 4:19Speaker 2: He thinks it's a great song. Fads.
- 4:23Speaker 3: So you will be hearing Diane on the night. Yes.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Fantastic. Now, obviously people who know you, I've known you
- 4:32Speaker 2: for so many years, but all people will know that
- 4:34Speaker 2: you're also a mogul. You do the music, you do the,
- 4:37Speaker 2: You got the car wash business, which is like worth
- 4:39Speaker 2: $ 2 billion. I've got to ask, are we still in
- 4:43Speaker 2: on crypto or are we getting cold feet there? Because
- 4:46Speaker 2: you were all in for a little bit.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I'm still in on crypto for sure.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I believe it's our tomorrow for sure.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 4:54Speaker 2: He has to say that because he's all in. He
- 4:56Speaker 2: has to say that because he's all in. I'm joking.
- 5:00Speaker 1: No, I'm not all in. I can't be all in
- 5:02Speaker 1: on anything, man. Like you got to diversify. Make sure
- 5:05Speaker 1: you got it. A little bit here, a little bit there.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Because you never know, man. It's a crazy world.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Now, I want to ask you, have you seen, like,
- 5:13Speaker 2: literally earlier today, they announced the new iPhone. It now
- 5:17Speaker 2: folds in half. Yeah, they've got a– have you not
- 5:20Speaker 2: seen this? Have you just woken up in China? Because
- 5:22Speaker 2: it's the biggest story in the world, the iPhone.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I did just wake up.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I was going to ask you why you wanted to
- 5:28Speaker 3: do the call so early. Yeah, so– Sorry.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Well, anyway, the new iPhone, it folds. The new iPhone,
- 5:34Speaker 2: they announced it this morning, it folds.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 5:37Speaker 2: And they're charging $ 4, 000 for it. Yeah, that's what I did.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Are you upgrading, Jason Derulo? Or I'm just going to,
- 5:47Speaker 2: you know, I might skip this one.
- 5:49Speaker 3: You know what? I'm going to tell people that I
- 5:50Speaker 3: don't like the fact that it folds.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm going to tell people, yeah, you know, when it falls,
- 5:57Speaker 1: like it gets like all caught up in your pocket
- 5:59Speaker 1: and you got to.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Come up with a story. You know what I'm saying?
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah. No, you can't lead with, Oh, that's expensive. I
- 6:05Speaker 2: can't afford that. You just go, I don't, I don't
- 6:07Speaker 2: need to have anything trapped inside there. Um, you're here
- 6:09Speaker 2: next week. Uh, we can't wait to have to see, uh, tickets, uh,
- 6:14Speaker 2: right now, T E G dainty.com looking stylish as always. Uh,
- 6:19Speaker 2: see you next week when you're down under man. Can't
- 6:21Speaker 2: wait to see the show.

- 6:25Speaker 3: down there. It's been forever. And a big shout out
- 6:27Speaker 3: to all the fans that are coming. I'll see you soon.
