- 0:01Genesis chapter 28. Let us pray.
- 0:08Lord God our Father, our everything.
- 0:13God, we thank you for life. We thank you for breath.
- 0:16We thank you for the blood that pours down Calvary and covers
- 0:21us. Thank you for the water spilled
- 0:24out of your side. God we drink of it.
- 0:27Father, we never thirst again. We thank you, Lord, for giving
- 0:31us the Holy Spirit, for giving us the Helper, the Advocate.
- 0:35Thank you, God, that we can gird up our loins and stand in the
- 0:39presence. We come running boldly into the
- 0:42throne room, Father. We come and sit at the table,
- 0:45Lord. We dine and Sup with you, God.
- 0:48We eat sumptuously upon the bread of life, God.
- 0:51We take our fill today, God, We drink of the blood, Father.
- 0:55We thank you for the remembrance, Lord, of what you
- 0:58did, God. Thank you for giving us the
- 1:01ability to come and to reason and to think and God to approach
- 1:05you boldly. Father, we ask that we can touch
- 1:08the hem of your garment. Father, we come.
- 1:11Lord, we come. Expect it today that you're
- 1:14going to do a mighty work in our lives.
- 1:18God, I pray that you'll snatch those out of darkness and bring
- 1:22them into the Kingdom of light. God, I pray that we will not
- 1:25succumb to all of the things of this world.
- 1:28The cultural pulls of the silence.
- 1:32Father, help us not to be silent.
- 1:34Help us to speak up. Father, for all the things that
- 1:37your word says, the revealed will that you've given us from
- 1:40Genesis to Revelation, Father, we thank you for the complete
- 1:45authority of your word. We thank you for all of the
- 1:48mandates. Lord, we thank you for all of
- 1:52your promises that you've given us.
- 1:54God, I pray for the prophetic timeline to come into fruition.
- 1:59God, we pray that Jesus return is imminent.
- 2:02We speed the day. God, we look up and see our
- 2:05redemption is drawing near. We see the leaves on the fig
- 2:09tree. God, but help us to wait well in
- 2:12the middle. Help us to understand that
- 2:14you're still working. Help us not to sit on our
- 2:17blessed assurance. Help us to be found in the
- 2:20firefight. God out in the streets and the
- 2:22hardest and the darkest places. God, we intercede for those who
- 2:26don't even know how to pray, they don't even know how to
- 2:29read. God, we intercede for those,
- 2:31Lord, and we ask that we can be the ministers of reconciliation
- 2:36that you've called us into. God, more than conquerors, you
- 2:39are a right guard, our rear guard.
- 2:41God, you are our front guard. You're the left guard.
- 2:44You're high above us, Lord, and you are everywhere that we go.
- 2:48Even if we are to make our bed in hell, Father, you are there.
- 2:51So, Lord, I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that you will come
- 2:57and shower us with your presence, with your Shekinah
- 3:00glory. God, shower us, Father, with
- 3:03your, with the light, Father. Make us the light, Lord.
- 3:09Make us salt, Lord. Make us more like Jesus today,
- 3:13Lord, I pray that we will not play games with you, Father, but
- 3:16we'll get serious about following after you.
- 3:19God, surely you're in this place.
- 3:22Thank you, God, for these scriptures.
- 3:24Thank you for the words Lord. You are omnipotent and
- 3:28omniscient. God, you're everywhere at all
- 3:31times. You're all powerful and all
- 3:33knowing God, nothing is hidden from you.
- 3:36It's all naked and laid bare. And so God, we come running in
- 3:40waving the word of God in front of you, God, and we are
- 3:44reminding you of the promises that you, Lord God, have
- 3:49promised to your Saints. And you told us, Lord, that
- 3:52we're two or more gathered. There you are, God.
- 3:55You told us that anything that we ask in your name shall be
- 3:59done, God. So we pray in the name of Jesus
- 4:02Christ for healing. Lord, Move the mountain, Father.
- 4:05Move the ocean, Lord, and let us walk across on dry land.
- 4:12Father, I pray that you'll take out cancer, Lord, take out heart
- 4:17disease, Lord, take out epilepsy, Lord, take out
- 4:22dementia and Alzheimer's, God, take out juvenile diabetes.
- 4:27Father, I pray God that you'll take out all of our infirmities,
- 4:31Lord, and heal us in the name of Jesus.
- 4:34Lord, I pray you'll reverse all of the ailments of the Saints,
- 4:39Father. But if you decide to leave us in
- 4:41that, Lord, I pray that you'll give us the peace.
- 4:44This surpasses all understanding, knowing God that
- 4:47you're working everything out, the good of those who love you
- 4:51and who are called according to your purposes.
- 4:53So, Lord, we pray that you will give us understanding, give us
- 4:58discernment. In this hour, strengthen the
- 5:01church. Father, I pray God for
- 5:04marriages. I pray for the family.
- 5:07I pray God, for righteous leaders, competent leaders, God
- 5:12to rise up in the land. I pray for a global, worldwide
- 5:16revival. Father, bring it on.
- 5:18Every continent, every people group, God, every language and
- 5:22tongue crying out, Yeshua, I'm Messiah, crying out.
- 5:26I Usus Father, I pray that we'll cry out for our king and for his
- 5:33return. Lord, and dwell us.
- 5:35Lord, fill us. Holy Spirit, teach us and wreck
- 5:38us today. And it's in your holy and
- 5:40precious and powerful name that I pray King Jesus, Amen.
- 5:48Well, let's start in verse one. And Isaac called Jacob, and
- 5:53blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, You shall not
- 5:56take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
- 5:59So it looks as if Rebecca's talk with Isaac has worked.
- 6:07And she went and said she was so beside herself for the thought
- 6:11of Jacob taking a wife from the Philistines.
- 6:17And so Isaac here is finally let go of Esau being his favorite
- 6:23and Esau as the one to be blessed.
- 6:26And he's finally turned his attention to Jacob and he's
- 6:29agreed with his wife to send him off back to her family to find a
- 6:35wife to arise and go to Paranaram, to the House of
- 6:40Bechuel, your mother's father, and take you a wife from there
- 6:45of the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.
- 6:48So he was to go and find a cousin.
- 6:51He was going to go and intermarry into the family
- 6:56there. And that is what is pronounced
- 6:59here. And you can see that the
- 7:00trickery of Jacob and the deception of the mother and out
- 7:06pacing and out stepping God has resulted in this separation.
- 7:11But look at how God is working everything out friends.
- 7:14He can use it without excusing it.
- 7:17Never forget that there ain't God Almighty bless you and make
- 7:23you fruitful and multiply you, that you may be a multitude of
- 7:29people. So here is the blessing upon
- 7:32Jacob, who will later become Israel.
- 7:34He went from the heel grabber to wrestles with God.
- 7:39And we're going to see that, friends, as we go through this
- 7:43book. And you're going to find out
- 7:44here that Isaac finally understood that God is God
- 7:52Almighty. He is the All Supreme, He is our
- 7:58everything. And that is why he is called
- 8:00here. God Almighty make you fruitful.
- 8:06So what an amazing title that Isaac finally gets to understand
- 8:13and he sends him over to Laban. And Laban is much more clever
- 8:20than Jacob ever wished to be. And you can see how God is going
- 8:24to use Laban to teach Jacob a few things for and give you the
- 8:33blessing of Abraham to you and to your seed with you, that you
- 8:37may inherit the land where you are a stranger, which God gave
- 8:42unto Abraham. So this was Jacob's grandfather.
- 8:45This was Isaac's dad. And God had promised all these
- 8:49things to Abraham. And by default, by genealogy
- 8:53friends, it went down to Isaac. And now it's going down into the
- 8:58younger friends and and God told them that the older would serve
- 9:03the younger. And so you see that Jacob here
- 9:07is actually the younger son, but the promise and the covenant is
- 9:12actually sidestepping Esau because he cared nothing for the
- 9:16spiritual things. He was only a carnal minded man.
- 9:20And you see that God chose Jacob and he knew Jacob's character.
- 9:25Even though he was a heel catcher, even though he did
- 9:29deceive, that was not his identity.
- 9:32His identity was to be the father of the 12 tribes and all
- 9:37the names written on the gates of the New Jerusalem.
- 9:41What an amazing thought, friends, that the the whole
- 9:43entire Jewish nation is born out of this lineage.
- 9:50Five And Isaac sent away Jacob, and he went to Paranaram unto
- 9:54Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca,
- 9:59Jacob, and Esau's mother. So we see here that before God
- 10:03called Abraham, he was also a Syrian.
- 10:07And you see that God created an entire nation and promised the
- 10:11land and promised the blessings, and gave him the covenant.
- 10:16And it was not even dependent upon actions.
- 10:18It was all dependent upon God's love and mercy, friends, and
- 10:23that God desired to make him into a nation.
- 10:26And we do see that Abraham moved in obedience.
- 10:30We see that he was the father of faith and that he was the friend
- 10:34of God. And you can see here why God
- 10:36chose him. And it's an amazing thing when
- 10:39you see 2020, when you see with clear vision, when you get on
- 10:44the other side of prophecy and look backwards, it's amazing.
- 10:48And you can see why God does the things that he does.
- 10:51But when you're on the ground floor, when you're in the
- 10:53trenches, friends, when you're on the jungle floor and you
- 10:57can't see the helicopter view above you, then it's hard,
- 11:01friends. And that is where we need faith.
- 11:03We need to understand that God is moving everything in
- 11:06accordance to His perfect will that He revealed to us in His
- 11:11Word. And if we'll get in the Word and
- 11:13study the Word, if we'll own the Word and live the Word, friends,
- 11:17we will not walk blindly, friends, we'll live by faith.
- 11:20Even though we can't see it, we already know what the end is and
- 11:24in the middle we can have hope. And that is what it looks like
- 11:29to follow after an almighty God. 6 And when Esau saw that Isaac
- 11:39had blessed Jacob, he's and sent him away to Padalaram to take a
- 11:44wife from there, and that as he blessed him, he gave him a
- 11:48charge saying, You shall not take a wife of the daughters of
- 11:51Canaan. So we already know that Esau has
- 11:54taken wives of the daughters of Canaan.
- 11:57And look at how this man who is irrational within his own mind,
- 12:02he cannot even figure out his tail from his nose.
- 12:07And you can see here that he's trying to look in and he wants
- 12:11to win some kind of favoritism with his father.
- 12:15And it's pathetic. And let's see what he does.
- 12:22Seven it, and that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and
- 12:25was gone to put down the realm. 8 And Esau, seeing that the
- 12:30daughters of Canaan please not Isaac his father. 9 Then went
- 12:34Esau unto Ishmael, and took to the wives, which he had Mahala,
- 12:40the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of
- 12:44Nabajah, to be his wife. So you see here that Esau is so
- 12:50deranged in his thinking that he goes and not only does he marry
- 12:55the daughters from Canaan, but then he turns around and marries
- 13:00a daughter of Ishmael. 10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba
- 13:08and went towards Iran. 11 And he lighted upon a certain place and
- 13:14tarried there all night, because the sun was set, And he took up
- 13:18the stones of that place and put them for pillows, and laid down
- 13:22in that place to sleep. So here is one of the most
- 13:26famous Bible stories in the entire Word of God.
- 13:30And you can see here that Jacob's about to understand
- 13:35something about the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac.
- 13:39He's about to understand that God is for him and not against
- 13:44him. And God is moving everything in
- 13:48complete accordance to his perfect will and his perfect
- 13:52plan for all of humanity, friends.
- 13:55And he's about to bless him and birth the nation out of Jacob.
- 14:0112 And he dreamed and beheld a ladder set up on the earth, and
- 14:06the top of it reached to heaven, and behold the angels of God
- 14:10ascending and descending on it. That is the Son of man, that is
- 14:15Christ. The latter is Jesus Christ,
- 14:18friends. And you can see here that Jacob
- 14:22finally gets introduced to the Son of God.
- 14:27He finally gets introduced to our hope, to the only way to the
- 14:33Father, and that is the hope that we possess is Jesus Christ
- 14:39and the salvation that he wrought for us on Calvary.
- 14:43And here it is all types and shadows, and he's showing Jacob
- 14:47what is to come, The ladder of Christ, Christ as being this go
- 14:52between heaven and earth, Friends. 13 And behold, the Lord
- 14:58stood above it and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham your
- 15:01father, and the God of Isaac, the land where you lie to you, I
- 15:07will give it, and to your seed. So here we're going to see where
- 15:12this little land becomes the House of God.
- 15:15And he calls it, Jacob's going to call it the gate of heaven
- 15:21here. And I want you to know, friends,
- 15:23that this is available anywhere on planet earth, friends.
- 15:28And God has a very peculiar plan for the nation Israel and for
- 15:32the land there. And Jesus Christ is going to
- 15:35rule and reign for 1000 years from that literal geographical
- 15:39place on planet earth. New Jerusalem comes onto a brand
- 15:44new earth, new heaven and new earth, friends, everything made
- 15:47new. And God has a very special plan
- 15:52for that land, friends. And here you can see that Jacob
- 15:57is getting to understand a little bit more about the God of
- 16:01his father and the God of his grandfather. 14 And your seed
- 16:09shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread
- 16:12abroad to the West, and to the east, and to the north and to
- 16:16the South. And in you and in your seed
- 16:19shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
- 16:22Don't get it twisted. Make sure you lock in.
- 16:24Make sure you understand what this entire text is telling us,
- 16:29that all of the world, every single nation, every single
- 16:35people group, every single language, every single ruler and
- 16:40principality, friend, has to come through the God of Abraham,
- 16:46Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel, the God of the Jews.
- 16:50That is how we come in to all of eternity.
- 16:54That is how we are given our immortal bodies that will live
- 16:58forever and ever in His presence.
- 17:01Friends, there is no other way unto the Father, except through
- 17:05the Son that came through the Jewish line.
- 17:10Friends of Jacob here. And he tells him that his
- 17:15descendants will be more innumerable than all the dust on
- 17:19the earth. Can you even imagine it?
- 17:2115 And behold, I am with you, and will keep you in all places
- 17:25where you go, and will bring you again into this land.
- 17:29For I will not leave you until I have done that which I have
- 17:32spoken to you of. So here God is promising Jacob
- 17:36that he is going to fuel, he is going to funnel, He is going to
- 17:41make sure that all the promises that he gave to to Abraham and
- 17:45gave to Isaac will be fulfilled through Jacob.
- 17:50And Jacob couldn't mess it up if he wanted to.
- 17:52And we're still seeing the ramifications of a people group
- 17:56who outstep God and outpace God and want to do things on their
- 18:01own will and their own accordance.
- 18:04And God's will will be done, no matter, friends.
- 18:07It'll all happen exactly the way that He said that it will.
- 18:12But it does not excuse all of the mischievousness.
- 18:17It does not excuse the sinfulness of mankind.
- 18:21God will have His way, and God will make sure that everything
- 18:24goes in accordance to plan. But if we step out of the
- 18:28perfect and pleasing will of God, there is discipline for us,
- 18:33and there is a loss of rewards for us and for those who are
- 18:36doing things outside of the will of God.
- 18:39There is eternal damnation for those who are using and abusing
- 18:44the things of God, and it is to their own detriment. 16 And
- 18:52Jacob woke out of his sleep and said, surely the Lord is in this
- 18:57place, and I knew it not. He is yet to make the
- 19:01connection. He's still operating within his
- 19:04own senses. He's still operating within his
- 19:07own intellect. He's still operating within the
- 19:11confines of religion and God wants to take him to
- 19:16relationship and to Covenant 17 And he was afraid and said, how
- 19:24dreadful is this place? This is none other than the
- 19:28House of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
- 19:32Jesus Christ revealed himself to Him pre Incarnate.
- 19:37And Jacob here is finally getting to understand the
- 19:41severity and the seriousness and the weight of God's glory.
- 19:46Friends 18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and he
- 19:54took the stone that he had put for his pillow, and he set it up
- 19:58for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it, the oil of
- 20:03gladness, the Holy Spirit being filled, being.
- 20:08Poured out upon the stones, friends.
- 20:10And Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone, and he was right to
- 20:14make an altar there. He was right to worship God in
- 20:18that place. But, Friends, we can do that in
- 20:21our houses. We can do that in our cars.
- 20:23We can do that in the workplace. We can do that on vacation.
- 20:27We can do that everywhere that we go, Friends.
- 20:30We worship the Lord God because you are the temple. 19 And he
- 20:37called the name of that place Beth El, but the name of the
- 20:41city was called Luz at the first.
- 20:44So this is the House of God. This is the gate of heaven. 20
- 20:48And Jacob bowed about saying, If God will be with me and will
- 20:59keep me in this way, that I go, will give me bread to eat and
- 21:06clothing put on, 21 so that I come again to my father's house
- 21:12in peace, then shall the Lord be my God.
- 21:17The Lord God is his God, regardless of this little deal
- 21:20that he's trying to make with God.
- 21:23But thank God that he is so long-suffering and he is so
- 21:28patient with us, as we are still being sanctified, as we are
- 21:34still ignorant within our own intellect and we're still
- 21:38relying on our own cleverness. And God sits in heaven and
- 21:43laughs. 22 In this stone which I have set for a pillar shall be
- 21:52God's house, and of all that you shall give me, I will surely
- 21:57give a 10th unto you. So here he's trying to strike a
- 22:01deal with God, and says, If you'll do your end of the
- 22:03bargain, then I'll make you my God, and I'll give you some
- 22:06money. And sadly, friends, this very
- 22:12place that God revealed himself mightily to Jacob, to Israel,
- 22:22will slowly become a place of idol worship and that God will
- 22:29send them into captivity for their disobedience.
- 22:33The will of God is perfect and He will make it all come to
- 22:37fruition in due time. But in the meantime and in
- 22:40between time, we have some responsibility.
- 22:44And it is to break down all of the false idols, pulverize them
- 22:48into dust. It is to consecrate the temple
- 22:51and get rid of all the merchandisers and drive them out
- 22:55with the cord, friends, and do not let them cohabitate within
- 22:58the holy sanctuary. Friends, Jesus Christ deserves
- 23:05all of our attention, all of our honor, all of our glory.
- 23:11We give it all over to Him. We spill out all the oil,
- 23:16friends, upon His feet, we pour out the alabaster, friends, we
- 23:20anoint Him with our tears because He is so worthy.
- 23:24I pray that you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 23:27Word. I know I sure have many times
- 23:30over. I'm praying for you.
- 23:32I love you. We'll see you back here
- 23:34tomorrow. God bless you.
