  I'm Carol. It's Thursday, March 5th, 2026. Let's
• 0:17
get you caught up. Multiple shootings across
• 0:19
Sacramento early yesterday led to an Uber driver
• 0:22
being injured and the temporary closure of two
• 0:25
major highways. A person of interest is now in
• 0:28
custody. Sacramento police say they first responded
• 0:31
around 5 .30 a .m. to the area of Dos Rios and
• 0:35
Vine Streets near Smyth Academy of Arts and Sciences
• 0:38
Middle School after reports of gunfire. Investigators
• 0:42
say a sedan traveling on Highway 160 near Northgate
• 0:45
Boulevard was shot at. The driver managed to
• 0:48
get off the freeway and stop near the school
• 0:49
to call 911. A 51 -year -old man was injured
• 0:53
in the shooting. His family says he's an Uber
• 0:55
driver and the father of two who had been working
• 0:58
early that morning. He was taken to UC Davis
• 1:01
Medical Center, where his condition was later
• 1:03
listed as stable. Because the shooting occurred
• 1:06
on the freeway, the California Highway Patrol
• 1:08
is leading the investigation. Highway 160 was
• 1:12
temporarily closed near Business 80 and later
• 1:15
southbound. Interstate 5 near Richards Boulevard
• 1:18
was also shut down for about an hour as officers
• 1:21
searched for evidence in connection with multiple
• 1:23
reported shootings. Authorities say a person
• 1:26
of interest is now in custody and the investigation
• 1:29
remains ongoing. In a separate and somber development,
• 1:34
a 54 -year -old U .S. Army reservist from Sacramento
• 1:39
is believed to have been killed in the Iran drone
• 1:42
strike in Kuwait. According to the Pentagon,
• 1:45
Chief Warrant Officer Robert M. Marzan was assigned
• 1:50
to the 103rd Sustainment Command. and was among
• 1:54
six U .S. service members killed when a fortified
• 1:58
tactical operations center was struck by a projectile.
• 2:02
California leaders have issued a statement honoring
• 2:05
Marzan's service, calling him a courageous Californian
• 2:09
whose dedication to the nation reflected the
• 2:13
highest ideals of public service. Flags at the
• 2:16
state capitol and state annex buildings are being
• 2:19
flown at half -staff in his honor. In City Watch,
• 2:24
Sacramento County Public Health has confirmed
• 2:26
two measles cases in unvaccinated children, bringing
• 2:29
California's total to 26 cases so far this year.
• 2:33
Health officials say one child contracted measles
• 2:36
while traveling to South Carolina, where a large
• 2:39
outbreak is underway. That child is no longer
• 2:42
contagious. The second child's exposure is still
• 2:44
unknown and is now recovering at home. Public
• 2:47
health officials say the child visited the Kaiser
• 2:50
Permanente Roseville Medical Center early Monday
• 2:53
morning. Anyone who was at the facility between
• 2:56
  6 .55 and 7 .15 a .m. on March 2nd may have been
• 3:01
exposed and should contact the Sacramento County's
• 3:04
Communicable Disease Program. Doctors are reminding
• 3:08
residents that measles is highly contagious and
• 3:14
spreads through the air, and on lingering on
• 3:18
surfaces. Officials say the MMR vaccine remains
• 3:22
the most effective protection with two doses
• 3:25
about 97 % effective. Residents are encouraged
• 3:29
to check their vaccination records and contact
