- 0:10Speaker 1: God bless football. Mikey, eh? God bless football, Taylor.
- 0:16Speaker 2: God bless football, Stu Gatz.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Thank you. Gino Toretto going to join us in about
- 0:20Speaker 1: 10 minutes. We are coming off a monster, monster football weekend,
- 0:24Speaker 1: especially on Saturday where you had just so many teams
- 0:29Speaker 1: in the top five, top 10 losing. The Canes weren't
- 0:32Speaker 1: one of those teams.
- 0:32Speaker 3: A lot of people thought they should have lost that game.
- 0:35Speaker 3: We'll talk to Gino Toretta about it coming up here
- 0:37Speaker 3: again in about five to ten minutes. Taylor, you have
- 0:40Speaker 3: winners and losers from the weekend here, both college and NFL, huh?
- 0:44Speaker 2: I just have NFL winners and losers.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Okay, so let's do that.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Let's do NFL winners and losers because we'll talk college
- 0:50Speaker 3: ball with Gino Toretta coming up. We have the college
- 0:53Speaker 3: football show later on today. So give us the music
- 0:56Speaker 3: and let's get to winners and losers.
- 1:01Speaker 2: My first winner. Yeah. Caleb Williams.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You almost forget what that Bears offense looks like when
- 1:09Speaker 2: Caleb Williams is at quarterback.
- 1:11Speaker 1: He's pretty good.
- 1:12Speaker 2: He was a perfect 24 of 24 for 248 yards
- 1:16Speaker 2: from a clean pocket in the Bears' Week 6 win
- 1:19Speaker 2: over the Falcons. 24 attempts are the most without an
- 1:22Speaker 2: incompletion from a clean pocket in a game since at
- 1:25Speaker 2: least 2018. That team is Super Bowl good when Caleb
- 1:29Speaker 2: Williams is back there.
- 1:30Speaker 1: No doubt. He's the greatest quarterback I've ever seen, if
- 1:32Speaker 1: he stays healthy.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Too far, but.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well, it's not.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Too far.
- 1:34Speaker 1: He makes hard throws look easy. He does. I mean,
- 1:37Speaker 1: he just does. Okay, too far. What do you have?
- 1:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:42Speaker 4: My first loser. Yeah. Mike McDaniel. Oof. Oh, yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 5: A season-low six points on Sunday and 259 total yards.
- 1:54Speaker 5: That lowered their 30th-ranked points-per-game average to 15.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Yep. That is insane. So bad.
- 2:03Speaker 5: They are 0-6 for the first time since 2000. And
- 2:09Speaker 5: after the game, Jim Harbaugh said they have to look
- 2:12Speaker 5: at everything. We have to address everything, and especially offensively.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Somebody's head is on the chopping block, and it's not
- 2:20Speaker 5: going to be Jim Harbaugh's yet.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yes, no, he's not going to fire himself.
- 2:24Speaker 2: No, McDaniel's got a one-way ticket out of L.A.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Today. By the way, I hate when coaches say that
- 2:30Speaker 3: I have to look at everything. Like Sark said it
- 2:33Speaker 3: after Texas.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, this might be a record week of coaches having
- 2:37Speaker 2: to look at everything.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Well, because everyone got upset. I mean, do you look
- 2:40Speaker 1: at yourself? Right, does Sark ever look at himself? I'd
- 2:42Speaker 1: say no. Too far.
- 2:45Speaker 2: The only person who's ever screwed up having a Manning
- 2:47Speaker 2: at quarterback.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You're right. What else do you have, Taylor?
- 2:55Speaker 2: My first loser, Jim Nance's wrist.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Ooh, what happened?
- 3:00Speaker 4: Oh, boy.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Tough one for Jim Nance. What happened?
- 3:03Speaker 4: Bad luck.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So J.J. Watt was trying to demonstrate to Jim Nance
- 3:08Speaker 2: what the peanut punch is and how the peanut punch
- 3:12Speaker 2: is so effective and ways to kind of counter it.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So J.J. was holding it and was trying to demonstrate
- 3:17Speaker 2: to Jim Nance on how to hold the ball properly
- 3:22Speaker 2: to avoid getting it punched out.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Dangerous game.
- 3:25Speaker 4: And then J.J.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Watt said, Jim, just give it a punch. Try to
- 3:27Speaker 2: punch this ball out. And Jim Nance, to Jim Nance's credit,
- 3:32Speaker 2: he tried to punch it out.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 3:34Speaker 1: He gave it a good shot.
- 3:35Speaker 2: The second he punched it, you heard the recoil. You
- 3:39Speaker 2: heard the ow come from Jim Nance.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Oh, boy.
- 3:41Speaker 2: A vocal ow. And then the next thing Jim Nance said,
- 3:44Speaker 2: I think my wrist is broken.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And he loves golf, and J.J. Watt might never be
- 3:48Speaker 1: in that booth again.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And they come back from break, and Jim Nance's hand
- 3:54Speaker 2: is basically wrapped in like a soft cast. And people
- 3:58Speaker 2: are like, wow, Jim Nance kind of going into the
- 4:00Speaker 2: bit that his wrist might be broken. Stu, we all
- 4:03Speaker 2: know Jim Nance. Jim Nance is not a bit guy.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Jim Nance is never going for the joke.
- 4:08Speaker 3: No, he's not sinking into it by putting a bandage
- 4:11Speaker 3: around his hand to give the appearance.
- 4:13Speaker 1: He's more hurt than he actually is. That is not
- 4:15Speaker 1: what Nance does.
- 4:16Speaker 4: J.J.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Watt was shocked how hard Jim Nance punched the football.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It's funny. I can't believe when he said ow, did
- 4:26Speaker 1: it sound beautiful, though?
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Jim. Ow in Augusta.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Ow.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Ow, friends. What do you have, Mikey?
- 4:43Speaker 4: Another loser.
- 4:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 5: All the teams that were marching for Arch because, whoo-wee,
- 4:51Speaker 5: he's probably not going to be your number one pick.
- 4:53Speaker 5: As a matter of fact, things are even getting worse
- 4:55Speaker 5: for him at Texas as they're expected to give an
- 4:58Speaker 5: uptick in first-team quarterback reps to redshirt freshman K.J.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Lacey Jr.
- 5:03Speaker 5: This week at practice. Arch Manning still the starter, but
- 5:08Speaker 5: it seems like they're setting things up for possibly.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Making a move if they need to.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I think at this point it's a fair question to ask,
- 5:16Speaker 3: will Arch be drafted in the first round, right?
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but to that point.
- 5:19Speaker 1: The Jets will take him.
- 5:20Speaker 2: To that point, though.
- 5:21Speaker 1: You leave him there. We're going to take him, yes.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Mikey's saying it's losers, anybody in the Arch Manning conversation.
- 5:29Speaker 2: If you liked Arch Manning in the first round, you're
- 5:31Speaker 2: going to love him in the fifth round when he's
- 5:32Speaker 2: still available.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Yes, but what Mikey is saying is the Jets have
- 5:35Speaker 3: three first-round picks coming up, and they will waste one
- 5:38Speaker 3: of them on Arch Manning, right?
- 5:40Speaker 7: Listen.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Nobody loses as many games as they can to get
- 5:44Speaker 5: a better pick in the fifth round.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Just saying. Yeah, right.
- 5:47Speaker 3: But, Mikey, if you're going to lose, having a Manning
- 5:49Speaker 3: at quarterback will make you feel better, no?
- 5:53Speaker 5: Listen, there's something to be said, as Taylor pointed out
- 5:56Speaker 5: with Sark, to be the only team that isn't successful
- 5:59Speaker 5: with a Manning at quarterback.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Right.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It's like a cheat code, yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, but we weren't expecting that from Texas. That's why
- 6:04Speaker 3: it's so shocking. I would fully expect that if he
- 6:06Speaker 3: went to the Jets, but at least we'd have a Manning.
- 6:08Speaker 4: That's all I'm saying.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 2: My next winner, Patrick Mahomes. He tied Tom Brady for
- 6:16Speaker 2: the fastest quarterback ever to 100 wins. Only took him
- 6:21Speaker 2: 131 games. He was 23 for 30 for 272 yards.
- 6:26Speaker 2: At this point, it seems clear that the AFC playoffs
- 6:28Speaker 2: are going through Kansas City. And again, we are going
- 6:32Speaker 2: to be sitting there at the Super Bowl just muttering
- 6:34Speaker 2: under our breaths, I can't believe the NFL let Patrick
- 6:37Speaker 2: Mahomes get Kenneth Walker.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Where Kenneth Walker goes for 128 yards, a pair of
- 6:43Speaker 2: touchdowns on the ground. We gave the best quarterback of
- 6:47Speaker 2: all time a running back to take a ton of
- 6:51Speaker 2: pressure off, an elite running back to take a ton
- 6:53Speaker 2: of pressure off.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:55Speaker 3: We're also going to regret talking about the Rams before
- 6:57Speaker 3: the season started and not the Chiefs. That's my big
- 7:01Speaker 3: loser from the weekend, the Rams. I mean, they have
- 7:05Speaker 3: to be. Also, the Cardinals at home.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's insane.
- 7:09Speaker 3: We talked about them going undefeated this year. They're going
- 7:12Speaker 3: to struggle to make the playoffs here.
- 7:13Speaker 4: They are.
- 7:14Speaker 3: They're just going to struggle to make the playoffs. They're
- 7:15Speaker 3: not going to win that division because the Niners are 5-0.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Go ahead, Mike.
- 7:20Speaker 5: My next loser, as you can tell, I've only got
- 7:22Speaker 5: losers today. My next loser, Cam Scadaboo.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 7:27Speaker 5: He must have been really bad in the doghouse for
- 7:32Speaker 5: John Harbaugh.
- 7:33Speaker 4: He got.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Zero touches in the game. He even lined up at fullback.
- 7:39Speaker 5: He wasn't a full benching. He put him in the
- 7:41Speaker 5: game to block for others. He's in the doghouse. He's
- 7:46Speaker 5: another big loser.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It was so weird, the dialogue or the conversation after
- 7:51Speaker 2: that game where John Harbaugh saying, Cam Scadaboo wasn't benched.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Him getting zero carries wasn't by design all of a sudden.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And then you have Scadaboo in the locker room saying, yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I got punished.
- 8:03Speaker 4: I got punished.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Seems like a disconnect.
- 8:05Speaker 5: I got punished for what I did. I understand it is.
- 8:07Speaker 5: So I got to be ready when the coach calls
- 8:09Speaker 5: my name.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And that wasn't today.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Cam Scadaboo might be the most overrated player in the NFL.
- 8:14Speaker 2: In terms of, like, knowing his name and what production
- 8:17Speaker 2: you get. And it's no fault to Cam Scadaboo.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:20Speaker 1: He is who he is.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more of a fault of his personality and
- 8:24Speaker 2: just playing in New York in that market where everybody
- 8:26Speaker 2: wants Cam Scadaboo to be, like, the greatest running back
- 8:29Speaker 2: in New York Giants franchise history. And it's like, he's
- 8:32Speaker 2: an okay running back.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:34Speaker 3: We spend way too much time talking about a guy
- 8:36Speaker 3: who hasn't done that much.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:38Speaker 3: No question about it. I'm with you on that. Big
- 8:40Speaker 3: winner from that game, J.J. McCarthy, even in a loss.
- 8:44Speaker 3: So I'm not on.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Board with J.J. McCarthy being a winner from that game.
- 8:49Speaker 2: But I'll get behind Jameis Winston being a loser because
- 8:52Speaker 2: the Jameis Winston experiment, it's over. I think at the
- 8:56Speaker 2: very least, if you're the Giants, you have to start J.J.
- 8:59Speaker 2: McCarthy moving forward because... If both of the quarterbacks are
- 9:02Speaker 2: going to be turnover prone, at least J.J. McCarthy can
- 9:05Speaker 2: move around in the pocket. Jameis Winston's a statue back there.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yes, plus you want to find out if J.J. McCarthy
- 9:09Speaker 1: might be your future, don't you? He's not.
- 9:11Speaker 2: He's not the future. When Jackson darts healthy, Jackson darts
- 9:15Speaker 2: QB1 in New York. There is no quarterback controversy when
- 9:19Speaker 2: it comes to the Giants and J.J. McCarthy.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Maybe you want J.J.
- 9:22Speaker 2: McCarthy to outperform expectations just so you can flip him
- 9:25Speaker 2: for a pick and use that pick to try to
- 9:28Speaker 2: recoup some of the value that you got trading for
- 9:32Speaker 2: him and helping out Jackson Dart when he gets back.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But there's no world where J.J. McCarthy is the starting
- 9:37Speaker 2: quarterback next year and Jackson Dart isn't.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Not so certain. You look pretty good. It was garbage time,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but you look pretty good.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Speaking of garbage time, another loser staying in that division.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:52Speaker 2: The Eagles.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:54Speaker 2: So this was even before.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It's a division full of losers, the NFC East.
- 9:58Speaker 4: It really is.
- 9:59Speaker 2: But this was. even before literally yes this was even
- 10:02Speaker 2: before jalen hurts gets ruled out for the season because
- 10:05Speaker 2: of the blood clots traveled to to his lungs yep
- 10:08Speaker 2: the philadelphia eagles yesterday you're watching them i think they're
- 10:12Speaker 2: officially on tank watch Because I don't think they're winning
- 10:16Speaker 2: the NFC East with Tanner McKee at their quarterback position.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Tanker McKee.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Feel better?
- 10:30Speaker 2: You can't feel good about that one.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Feel better about yourself?
- 10:34Speaker 1: I do, yes.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I appreciate you asking. You led me right to it.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I think the Eagles have so many injuries right now.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Tanker Bigsby.
- 10:49Speaker 4: He's on IR.
- 10:51Speaker 7: And his name is Tank.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I didn't need to add Tanker. Tanker McGee. I apologize.
- 10:58Speaker 2: So the Eagles have so many injuries right now. I
- 11:00Speaker 2: think you're looking at them. And I know the division
- 11:03Speaker 2: is still winnable. technically it is but even if you
- 11:07Speaker 2: win the division like what what's the best case scenario
- 11:10Speaker 2: you you host a first round playoff game and you
- 11:13Speaker 2: lose by 30 points with tanner mcgee starting Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I mean, what are you going to do?
- 11:17Speaker 5: Win a Super Bowl in Philadelphia with a backup quarterback?
- 11:21Speaker 4: Get out of here with that.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I mean, don't compare those two situations right now.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Well, why?
- 11:27Speaker 2: The rosters aren't comparable. This Philadelphia Eagles team is terrible.
- 11:32Speaker 2: They're limping their way to whatever the midway point of
- 11:36Speaker 2: the season is. Half their team's on IR. They're basically
- 11:39Speaker 2: the San Francisco 49ers, but without the wins.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It's so bad Andy Dalton doesn't want to play there.
- 11:45Speaker 4: I got a winner.
- 11:46Speaker 1: All right, go ahead. Wow. Look at you.
- 11:49Speaker 5: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Really?
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 4: What? Why?
- 11:54Speaker 5: Dylan Daniels played so well that there's a quarterback controversy.
- 11:57Speaker 5: He took the Steelers to overtime. You're getting chip on
- 12:00Speaker 5: his shoulder, Baker Mayfield, when he comes back. Watch for
- 12:02Speaker 5: the Bucs to resurge.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Kind of a long-term, you know, visionary you are.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Long-term win. Yes. Long-term win.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Panthers are starting to run away with that division, though.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Right. They are.
- 12:12Speaker 7: 3-2.
- 12:13Speaker 1: They're on their way to eight wins? Can you be
- 12:16Speaker 1: running away, put it on the poll, running away with
- 12:18Speaker 1: a division at 3-2? I think I agree with it.
- 12:23Speaker 2: They are running away with it, yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, winner.
- 12:27Speaker 4: No. Too far. It's played okay, guys.
- 12:35Speaker 7: 4-2.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I have another loser, and I think this is a
- 12:38Speaker 2: clear one.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Aaron.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Aaron.
- 12:40Speaker 2: No, it's the Indianapolis Colts where they fire their GM.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Shane Steichen feels like he's on borrowed time now. You're
- 12:49Speaker 2: thinking about who the first coach could be fired in
- 12:51Speaker 2: the NFL. And once you fire Ballard, it feels like
- 12:55Speaker 2: all bets are off the table where if the Colts
- 12:58Speaker 2: lose their next game or lose a couple of upcoming games,
- 13:01Speaker 2: there's nothing really keeping Shane Steichen there. And we know Ursae...
- 13:05Speaker 2: Ursae is keeping tabs, keeping her notes. And her notebook
- 13:09Speaker 2: right now, I bet you if you got Ursae's notebook,
- 13:12Speaker 2: it just says, what is Shane Steichen doing? More like
- 13:16Speaker 2: Shane Steichen bozo. All over it.
- 13:18Speaker 1: That's all it says?
- 13:21Speaker 5: If she could figure out who Shane Steichen is, because
- 13:23Speaker 5: I'm convinced he could be standing next to me and
- 13:25Speaker 5: I wouldn't know who he was, would he already be fired?
- 13:28Speaker 5: Did she fire Chris Ballard?
- 13:30Speaker 1: Thinking he was Steichen.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Are you the coach?
- 13:36Speaker 5: They literally put Shane Steichen on the screen with a
- 13:39Speaker 5: graphic underneath that says Shane Steichen, and I.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Went, who is that? I said, thank you. They play
- 13:45Speaker 1: Minnesota next.
- 13:46Speaker 3: They play Jacksonville after that.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Off a bye. He's so fired. Gino Toretta next. Stugatz here.
- 13:57Speaker 1: You guys know me.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I'm watching sports all weekend anyway, and there's nothing better

- 15:13Speaker 3: He's a former Heisman Trophy winner for the University of
- 15:16Speaker 3: Miami and was on the call of the Miami-Florida State game,
- 15:19Speaker 3: one of like 15 great games.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Over the weekend on Saturday.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I can't imagine what he was thinking because no one
- 15:26Speaker 3: expected that game, even in a rivalry game, for it
- 15:29Speaker 3: to be that close. So, Gino, take us through your thoughts,
- 15:32Speaker 3: your emotions, as Florida State almost pulls off the upset
- 15:36Speaker 3: against the University of Miami.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Well, you know, we were all throwing out the cliches
- 15:41Speaker 4: during the week, throw out the records. It's a rivalry
- 15:44Speaker 4: game and this, but I don't, I don't think any Miami,
- 15:48Speaker 4: you know, alumni or fan thought it was going to
- 15:50Speaker 4: be remotely close. I think it was a matter of, okay,
- 15:53Speaker 4: is it still raining or when's it going to stop raining?
- 15:55Speaker 4: When we go out and tailgate after we're up like
- 15:58Speaker 4: by four touchdowns. So I think that was, that was the,
- 16:02Speaker 4: the impetus going in upon further research, I thought their
- 16:06Speaker 4: offense was pretty good. They can make big plays. Our
- 16:08Speaker 4: quarterback has shown a pension for that. Deuce Robinson, six, five, six, six.
- 16:12Speaker 4: And I don't care what anybody says. He can't be
- 16:14Speaker 4: covered in college football and you give them a chance to,
- 16:17Speaker 4: to make some plays. Florida state didn't figure that out
- 16:20Speaker 4: until the third quarter. Um, thankfully, but it, And then
- 16:25Speaker 4: as the game started, progressed, I'm like, wait a sec.
- 16:29Speaker 4: This is a heavyweight match. Like when I was in school,
- 16:32Speaker 4: this is right cross and uppercuts and guys getting staggered
- 16:36Speaker 4: and stopped in their stance. And then we get down
- 16:40Speaker 4: to the fourth quarter. We go to overtime. And touchdown
- 16:46Speaker 4: radio doesn't pay extra for overtime. So, obviously, I was
- 16:48Speaker 4: a little disappointed. You know, I mean, there is that issue.
- 16:52Speaker 4: You run the company. I mean– Hey, we, we, we,
- 16:55Speaker 4: we couldn't add a more commercial break. So I couldn't
- 16:59Speaker 4: even get a extra out of the, uh, out of
- 17:01Speaker 4: the overtime. So, um, but they go back and forth
- 17:06Speaker 4: and Florida state, I will say not only completed one
- 17:10Speaker 4: Hail Mary, but they completed two Hail Marys in a row. And,
- 17:13Speaker 4: you know, listen, people didn't agree with me, um, or
- 17:17Speaker 4: don't agree with me, but the first one, I thought
- 17:21Speaker 4: it was a late holding penalty. I mean, the ball
- 17:23Speaker 4: was already gone. I thought it might have been a
- 17:26Speaker 4: late hit on the Miami player on the first one.
- 17:31Speaker 4: And then on the second one, I really thought, I
- 17:34Speaker 4: thought that ball, I thought that Deuce Robinson had his
- 17:37Speaker 4: hands on the ball the entire time. I thought the
- 17:39Speaker 4: ball came down in the lap of Fitzgerald. And I said,
- 17:43Speaker 4: tie goes to the runner. If they both have the
- 17:46Speaker 4: ball when they get down on the ground, it's possession
- 17:49Speaker 4: to the offense. And, you know, I'm just watching him.
- 17:53Speaker 4: He never moved. His arms are, I mean, over his head.
- 17:57Speaker 4: I can't even get my arms that close together over
- 18:00Speaker 4: my head. And they didn't move. Like, he wasn't, like,
- 18:03Speaker 4: pushing his feet down, trying to get closer into the
- 18:05Speaker 4: pile like he had lost control of the ball. So,
- 18:09Speaker 4: to me, I thought he had control of the ball
- 18:11Speaker 4: the whole time. And then, you know, the official calls touchback.
- 18:15Speaker 4: I thought he called touchdown.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Touchdown.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I'm not sure why we need a touchback. It's overtime,
- 18:20Speaker 4: and if it's an interception, the game's over with, and
- 18:23Speaker 4: it's all over with. But since they called it an interception,
- 18:29Speaker 4: it goes to the replay, and the replay isn't if
- 18:31Speaker 4: there's joint possession. The replay was, okay, did the defensive
- 18:35Speaker 4: player catch the ball? Well, the ball never touched the ground,
- 18:37Speaker 4: so they just gave the possession to the defense. I
- 18:41Speaker 4: was hoping for a mutual catch, and we get at
- 18:45Speaker 4: least a two point conversion try. And maybe we go,
- 18:48Speaker 4: maybe a Florida state gets it, go to the third overtime,
- 18:51Speaker 4: but I thought they had made the catch in the end. And, uh,
- 18:54Speaker 4: I don't know how good of a look it was
- 18:55Speaker 4: with Michael Irvin running off the sidelines shaking the hand
- 18:58Speaker 4: of the official as he's saying, game over.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He confirms it. It's a heady play.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I don't know about that. That's necessarily a great look.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Gino, what would you say to the people that are
- 19:11Speaker 2: saying this was just the ACC protecting its golden goose?
- 19:15Speaker 2: It's one ticket to the playoffs, the Miami Hurricanes.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of that. I mean, listen.
- 19:23Speaker 4: would have been called differently if it was in Doak Campbell.
- 19:25Speaker 4: I think probably a lot of people would think it
- 19:28Speaker 4: might have been called differently if the game was in
- 19:30Speaker 4: Doak Campbell. I don't think the officials think like that.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I think that with replay, to me, replay is to
- 19:40Speaker 4: get the call right. If you go to replay in
- 19:43Speaker 4: that instance, just this play for example, shouldn't the replay be, hey,
- 19:48Speaker 4: was this a joint catch? Not they can't, they can't
- 19:52Speaker 4: actually change the call to say it was a catch
- 19:56Speaker 4: by Florida state because they called it an interception. So
- 19:59Speaker 4: they can't say it was a catch by the other team.
- 20:03Speaker 4: They're either confirming it was an interception and that was,
- 20:06Speaker 4: that was it. And I, I just, to me replays
- 20:09Speaker 4: to get the things right. And, but you couldn't really
- 20:12Speaker 4: tell where the ball was in the pile. I mean,
- 20:15Speaker 4: Miami guys are jumping all over the place and I
- 20:17Speaker 4: get it. I mean, you get in a scrum like that,
- 20:20Speaker 4: you know, all bets are off. You don't know what,
- 20:22Speaker 4: what's going on in that scrum and where the ball's
- 20:24Speaker 4: going or what guy's hands are, are, are going in there. So, um, yeah, it's, uh,
- 20:30Speaker 4: I think it's unfortunate Florida state and unfortunate for us.
- 20:32Speaker 4: We maybe we've got a, got another two point conversion
- 20:35Speaker 4: and maybe seen third or fourth or, fifth or sixth
- 20:38Speaker 4: or seventh overtime. Right.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Four more overtimes in which you're not getting paid is
- 20:41Speaker 1: what you were rooting for.
- 20:44Speaker 4: No more commercial breaks.
- 20:47Speaker 3: That is a good point. A play of that magnitude,
- 20:50Speaker 3: it shouldn't be based on what's called on the field.
- 20:52Speaker 3: It was a confusing play. It was hard to see.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I think they should approach that and just say, let's
- 20:56Speaker 3: make sure we get it right, regardless of what was
- 20:58Speaker 3: called on the field. And that never seemed to be
- 21:00Speaker 3: an option, him catching the ball, the Florida State wide receiver.
- 21:04Speaker 4: It wasn't. My wife pointed out. I mean, we went
- 21:06Speaker 4: back and watched the game. When I got home, it
- 21:07Speaker 4: was really late. And she goes, I want to see
- 21:09Speaker 4: what happened at the end of the game. And she goes,
- 21:12Speaker 4: never once did the ACC officiating office in Charlotte say,
- 21:18Speaker 4: was there possession, dual possession by Florida State receiver? Right.
- 21:23Speaker 4: That was never a question. It was just like, what
- 21:26Speaker 4: was the call on the field? Interception. Was it an interception? Well,
- 21:30Speaker 4: of course the ball never hit the ground. It's in
- 21:32Speaker 4: the lap of Fitzgerald, but Oh, by the way, you
- 21:35Speaker 4: got to another player's hands on it with possession. And look,
- 21:39Speaker 4: I mean, Deuce Robinson was the guy that got his
- 21:41Speaker 4: hands on the ball and possessed it first. I thought,
- 21:44Speaker 4: you know, Fitzgerald had it kind of let it go
- 21:46Speaker 4: as they're falling down, but Robinson, I didn't think he
- 21:50Speaker 4: ever let it go. And, um, You know, it was just,
- 21:53Speaker 4: it turned into, you know, another game. I mean, listen,
- 21:57Speaker 4: I played in wide right one and wide right two.
- 22:00Speaker 4: It's just a finish that's, you know what, that's what
- 22:03Speaker 4: you expect out of Miami and Florida State. The bad
- 22:05Speaker 4: thing for Florida State is they haven't won a road
- 22:08Speaker 4: game against a power four team since 2023. I mean,
- 22:11Speaker 4: it's just absolutely crazy when you think about, I mean,
- 22:16Speaker 4: don't you get lucky in that course of a time?
- 22:18Speaker 4: You're going to beat one team? You know, but... It
- 22:22Speaker 4: is what it is. Miami's still undefeated and number one
- 22:24Speaker 4: in the country now. Gino, in a.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Weekend that saw so many upsets in college football and
- 22:29Speaker 2: so many top 10 teams losing, I do think Miami
- 22:32Speaker 2: deserves credit for finding a way to get that game
- 22:34Speaker 2: across the finish line, but overall, would you say you
- 22:38Speaker 2: leave that game more concerned about Miami being a national
- 22:41Speaker 2: title contender, or is that just a rivalry throw-out-the-records game?
- 22:47Speaker 4: I would say I think a combination, but I was
- 22:50Speaker 4: on the sidelines for the Miami-Stanford game, and Stanford's personnel
- 22:55Speaker 4: isn't what, let's say, Miami's is, and I didn't think
- 22:58Speaker 4: we did a great job run blocking at all. And
- 23:02Speaker 4: I thought, all right, this is a weakness or could
- 23:05Speaker 4: be a weakness exposed. I mean, Miami's offensive line had
- 23:09Speaker 4: a serious size advantage over Florida State's D-line, yet they couldn't,
- 23:14Speaker 4: you know, there was like no consistency. Now, they got
- 23:18Speaker 4: some big plays. Um, and that got better. Um, you know,
- 23:22Speaker 4: as the, as the young freshmen got in and, and man,
- 23:26Speaker 4: he had some bursts and he had fresh legs. You
- 23:28Speaker 4: watch him run versus Fletcher and Fletcher's the fourth quarter.
- 23:31Speaker 4: It was, you put in that young kid and he
- 23:33Speaker 4: had burst, but that was, that was the concern. I
- 23:37Speaker 4: would say in general of, of all of those teams that,
- 23:40Speaker 4: that lost, you have now a nine game schedule in
- 23:44Speaker 4: the SEC. They're I thought Georgia was the dominant team
- 23:54Speaker 4: physically and just overall better than everybody else. But it
- 24:00Speaker 4: doesn't seem like there is a Miami of the late 80s,
- 24:06Speaker 4: early 90s, an Alabama of 08, 010, a Georgia where
- 24:10Speaker 4: you're just like, this team's walking to a national championship game.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I don't think there is that dominant team And I've
- 24:17Speaker 4: said for months that there's going to be a three-loss
- 24:19Speaker 4: team in this playoffs by the end of it because
- 24:22Speaker 4: look at, you know, Texas loses. You've got Alabama loses
- 24:26Speaker 4: on the road to Tennessee. You know, it's a great season,
- 24:31Speaker 4: but there's going to be– there isn't that dominant team
- 24:34Speaker 4: in college football this year.
- 24:36Speaker 3: You had Notre Dame losing as well. Wait until they
- 24:38Speaker 3: expand it to 24 teams. You'll have five-loss teams in there.
- 24:42Speaker 4: You know, and that's– Like in this whole thing, did
- 24:45Speaker 4: anybody ever in that discussion say, is this better for
- 24:48Speaker 4: college football?
- 24:49Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 24:50Speaker 4: It's how much more money can we get? And by adding,
- 24:54Speaker 4: you know, the season 25% longer and make these kids
- 24:58Speaker 4: play three or four more games. But yeah, if you
- 25:02Speaker 4: go back to last year, we'd had, you know, James Madison. Hey,
- 25:05Speaker 4: great story. I'm not sure what conference they play in. Like, okay,
- 25:08Speaker 4: we're going to put, throw them in the playoffs. Then
- 25:11Speaker 4: we're going to get a four loss Iowa team. They're
- 25:14Speaker 4: going to be in the playoffs. Now, you and I
- 25:16Speaker 4: have watched Iowa. I mean, what are we going to watch?
- 25:18Speaker 4: 15 punts, 18 punts, 20 punts by them? I mean,
- 25:21Speaker 4: just awful Big Ten, three yards on a cloud of
- 25:25Speaker 4: dust football. And it's like, I don't want to watch
- 25:27Speaker 4: those games. I don't watch those games now. Do I
- 25:31Speaker 4: really want to watch them at the end? And because
- 25:33Speaker 4: of the additional games, you lose. Like, does LSU-Ole Miss
- 25:39Speaker 4: even matter in a 24-game playoff? Hell no. You're like, yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 4: what does it matter? you know, I'm old enough to
- 25:46Speaker 4: where when I was a kid, you made the NBA playoffs.
- 25:49Speaker 4: You were a good team. Now it's like, who doesn't
- 25:53Speaker 4: make the NBA playoffs? And because of that, people don't
- 25:56Speaker 4: watch the regular season. It doesn't, doesn't really matter. So
- 26:00Speaker 4: I just think I'm disappointed. They went to, I would
- 26:03Speaker 4: have given them 16 because if they're going to let
- 26:05Speaker 4: some non power five schools get in the playoffs, but
- 26:10Speaker 4: If they would just go to a 12 team and
- 26:12Speaker 4: it's the top 12 ranked teams, fine, let's go.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:15Speaker 4: And let it eat. Yes. And that's fine. Give you
- 26:17Speaker 4: 16 if you're going to put some, okay, we got
- 26:20Speaker 4: to put these guys in to make sure we can
- 26:22Speaker 4: give them some money and that. But 24 is ridiculous.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I think it's just more games you can get hurt,
- 26:29Speaker 4: more games. I would say more games that you're not
- 26:32Speaker 4: being paid for.
- 26:33Speaker 7: Right.
- 26:33Speaker 4: But if I'm the players, I'm like, okay, you just
- 26:36Speaker 4: made our schedule four games longer. I want more money.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I'm certain they'll ask for it.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Gino, the main concern for Miami coming out of this game,
- 26:59Speaker 6: I know you mentioned the running game, their ability to run.
- 27:01Speaker 1: They did run it against Florida State.
- 27:02Speaker 4: It would be the defense.
- 27:03Speaker 1: That was surprising. The defense giving up that many points
- 27:06Speaker 1: to that offense.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Well, it's But Florida State, they have talent. I know.
- 27:11Speaker 4: I mean, Stu Gatz, let's be honest. I mean, listen,
- 27:14Speaker 4: Krum was a stud. An unfortunate injury, you know, with
- 27:17Speaker 4: an ankle. Florida State has players. They have talented players.
- 27:21Speaker 4: If you look at their offensive stats, you're like, wow,
- 27:24Speaker 4: this team's pretty good. Yeah. But you look at their
- 27:27Speaker 4: defensive stats, and, I mean, they gave up 400 yards
- 27:30Speaker 4: on the ground to Louisville. They gave up, like, it's
- 27:34Speaker 4: crazy how their defense has been gashed. So, you know,
- 27:39Speaker 4: I think more of the concern, I think, listen, Miami
- 27:43Speaker 4: gave up some big plays, but Florida State, listen, Deuce Robinson,
- 27:47Speaker 4: I kept saying, I'm like, you got a guy that's
- 27:50Speaker 4: 6'5 on the outside. It's fourth and two and you're
- 27:53Speaker 4: in the red zone? And just throw him the ball.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Throw him a jump ball. I mean, I don't care
- 27:58Speaker 4: who the DB is. He's got a size advantage. And
- 28:02Speaker 4: they didn't try it until Miami somehow comes back and
- 28:07Speaker 4: ties the game. And then they go right down the sidelines.
- 28:09Speaker 4: He runs a fade. And I'm like, okay, he can
- 28:11Speaker 4: run too. Why? Like, I don't know. To me, it's
- 28:15Speaker 4: like keep it simple, stupid. Like, he's one of your
- 28:17Speaker 4: best players. Try to get him the ball. Ohio State,
- 28:20Speaker 4: Jeremiah Smith, he's one of your best players. The best player. Oh,
- 28:24Speaker 4: by the way, we're just going to keep throwing it
- 28:26Speaker 4: to him in triple coverage and see if he can
- 28:30Speaker 4: catch it. Doesn't seem like a hard game.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Gino, I am wondering here, you've been around some of
- 28:35Speaker 3: the all-time greats at the University of Miami.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You yourself are an all-time great at UM.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Malachi Toney, I know it's early, but he had 11 catches,
- 28:45Speaker 3: 154 yards, two touchdowns. He's incredible. So fun to watch.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Where does he rank for you right now in terms
- 28:51Speaker 3: of all-time great Miami wide receivers? Because he's climbing the
- 28:54Speaker 3: charts pretty quickly here.
- 28:56Speaker 4: He is amazing. I, you know, he's going to break it.
- 28:59Speaker 4: He's broke every record of a freshman. He'll break the
- 29:02Speaker 4: sophomore record. He had a hundred some catches, which is
- 29:05Speaker 4: astounding as a, as a freshman, his football IQ is
- 29:10Speaker 4: higher than every receiver. I think that that may have
- 29:14Speaker 4: gone through Miami crazy, like how he runs a route,
- 29:18Speaker 4: how he sets up guys. Like, sometimes he'll come off
- 29:21Speaker 4: the line of scrimmage and kind of stutter step, and
- 29:23Speaker 4: then he just, like, throws a shake and bake, and
- 29:26Speaker 4: all of a sudden the defender falls down. I mean,
- 29:29Speaker 4: what he was doing, but even Miami, Stugatz, did you
- 29:33Speaker 4: think they really targeted Malachi until, like, okay, hey, we
- 29:37Speaker 4: have Malachi Tony and we're in a, we're in a
- 29:39Speaker 4: fist fight. Let's get him the ball. Let's just give
- 29:42Speaker 4: him the ball on a reverse and see what he
- 29:44Speaker 4: can do. And he was the guy. I mean, the
- 29:46Speaker 4: one drive was 72 yards. He had 65 of it.
- 29:49Speaker 4: That's like, okay, why weren't you doing this all game? Um,
- 29:52Speaker 4: but he is, he is, I played with a guy,
- 29:55Speaker 4: Kevin Williams, and Kevin Williams, I say, was Malachi before Malachi.
- 30:01Speaker 4: And those little BS passes where the quarterback doesn't throw
- 30:06Speaker 4: the ball, he just tosses it in front of him,
- 30:08Speaker 4: but it counts for one for one and good completion
- 30:10Speaker 4: percentage and yards after catch. We didn't have that when
- 30:14Speaker 4: I played. But he's got the toughness. He's got the shake.
- 30:19Speaker 4: He's got his zero to 60 is amazing. His hands,
- 30:24Speaker 4: his body control. I mean... Is his weakness his height?
- 30:29Speaker 4: I guess. I mean, there isn't a weakness. Tony's a
- 30:33Speaker 4: Hall of Famer and a gamer. Yeah, he's a gamer
- 30:38Speaker 4: for sure. Yes.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Taylor, is there a chance that Miami goes to North
- 30:42Speaker 3: Carolina and College Game Day goes to Chapel Hill for
- 30:44Speaker 3: that game?
- 30:46Speaker 2: On Halloween, too, Gino?
- 30:47Speaker 4: Gino, all I'm saying is all.
- 30:50Speaker 2: The Miami Hurricane fans circle that as a win before
- 30:52Speaker 2: the season. And all of a sudden, this North Carolina team,
- 30:55Speaker 2: you don't want to come to Chapel Hill in October. Halloween,
- 30:59Speaker 2: it's going to get spooky there.
- 31:01Speaker 4: St.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Nick.
- 31:02Speaker 4: St. Nick is back. You're back into believing you're drinking
- 31:06Speaker 4: the Kool-Aid. You know, if it was Duke, though, you know, Stugatz, remember,
- 31:10Speaker 4: that's a tough walk from the visiting locker room to
- 31:13Speaker 4: the field. Yeah, Mikey.
- 31:16Speaker 5: I'm sorry, you think they're not going to Ohio State-USC?
- 31:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Come on.
- 31:21Speaker 1: And Miami-Notre Dame is the following week.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I don't know, Mikey, if Wisco takes care of business
- 31:28Speaker 4: this weekend, you know, that's going to take down that
- 31:30Speaker 4: SC matchup a notch.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yes, and you're calling that game.
- 31:35Speaker 4: You are pretty much right, because I would say the
- 31:37Speaker 4: Big Ten is Ohio State and Indiana. Yes. Florida-Georgia. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Well, I mean, there's some steam off that game as well.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It might be Miami at North Carolina. You're on the
- 31:49Speaker 1: Wisconsin call this week, right? Yes, you're doing that game?
- 31:51Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Is that killing two birds with one stone? See your
- 31:55Speaker 1: daughter call Wisconsin?
- 31:56Speaker 4: It is. My daughter is a senior at Wisconsin, so
- 31:58Speaker 4: I always try to take a Madison game. And USC,
- 32:01Speaker 4: I think, is the team. I would say they're similar
- 32:04Speaker 4: to Florida State. There's a better record than Florida State.
- 32:06Speaker 4: They have the talent. Jordan Maiava is a great quarterback.
- 32:10Speaker 4: They have a young, talented group. their defense has just
- 32:14Speaker 4: been suspect. You know, they're kind of hit or miss.
- 32:16Speaker 4: They got beat at home by Oregon, which was disappointing.
- 32:21Speaker 4: But I think that USC's a team, if they somehow
- 32:25Speaker 4: figure it out, I mean, they got Gary Patterson, he's
- 32:28Speaker 4: a Hall of Fame coach, and now he's their D coordinator.
- 32:30Speaker 4: If they put it together on defense, they should be
- 32:33Speaker 4: able on paper to, to beat anybody with their, uh,
- 32:37Speaker 4: with their personnel. But you know, the story with, without
- 32:40Speaker 4: there is, you know, with Lincoln Riley, I got to
- 32:42Speaker 4: see it to believe it. Cause it's when you get
- 32:44Speaker 4: to those big games, they, they haven't, uh, they haven't
- 32:48Speaker 4: cashed in.
- 32:49Speaker 3: No, uh, Taylor put it on the pole before we
- 32:51Speaker 3: get to a game here with Gino. Michael Irvin shaking
- 32:54Speaker 3: the referee's hands right after the game.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Bad look? Yes or no?
- 33:01Speaker 4: Slim shady?
- 33:03Speaker 1: Did he slide him anything? That would have been even worse.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Did he shake his hand before? Did he influence before
- 33:09Speaker 4: the call was made? Oh, God. So good. College football.
- 33:13Speaker 4: By the way. Do we really need to see as
- 33:16Speaker 4: much of Michael on the sidelines? I mean, I love Michael.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I worked out with him, but do we really need to? Like,
- 33:24Speaker 4: he's not making calls. He's not meeting with these kids.
- 33:27Speaker 1: He's cheering.
- 33:29Speaker 4: He is cheering.
- 33:30Speaker 1: It's wildly entertaining. He's doing something. He's doing something. Let's
- 33:37Speaker 1: get to Mark. I will not ask you no follow-ups.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I don't want you to elaborate on that. He's just
- 33:41Speaker 1: doing something.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Let's get to our game here with Gino Toretta, Heisman
- 33:45Speaker 3: Trophy winner from the University of Miami.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Taylor, give me the imaging.
- 33:50Speaker 7: There's one table left at the hottest spot in town,
- 33:53Speaker 7: and everybody wants it. Who's getting it, and who's getting
- 33:58Speaker 7: left outside? Greatness gets seated. Everyone else waits. This is
- 34:05Speaker 7: One Table Podcast.
- 34:07Speaker 1: It is one table.
- 34:08Speaker 3: We have Toretto's Steakhouse here in the Heisman House, okay?
- 34:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 34:14Speaker 3: They built it in the Heisman House, Toretto's Steakhouse, and
- 34:16Speaker 3: we also have one at Coral Gables, okay?
- 34:19Speaker 4: So two steakhouses. We've got to be Italian Steakhouse. We've
- 34:22Speaker 4: got to have some Italian in there. But, yeah, I'm
- 34:24Speaker 4: with you on the carne. Okay.
- 34:26Speaker 1: It's your restaurant.
- 34:28Speaker 3: You determine who gets the one table, the one seat
- 34:30Speaker 3: that is left, if two people walk in at the
- 34:32Speaker 3: same time.
- 34:34Speaker 1: With that said, Taylor, take it away.
- 34:36Speaker 4: So, Gino.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Charlie Ward walks in. Chris Winkie walks in. Who gets
- 34:42Speaker 2: the table? Two FSU alum. This is the Heisman House location, yes.
- 34:48Speaker 4: You know what? I'm probably better friends with Wank. And
- 34:56Speaker 4: he's just a big dude. You don't realize how big
- 35:00Speaker 4: he is. He's probably like 6'5. Charlie could walk by
- 35:04Speaker 4: all of us and we wouldn't know it was Charlie Ward. Right.
- 35:08Speaker 4: You know, six foot, 165 pounds. Mm-hmm. Who gets my table? Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 4: you decide. I give it to Charlie. But I would
- 35:19Speaker 4: deal with it. You know what? I would give Charlie
- 35:22Speaker 4: the last table. Winky gets a seat at the bar,
- 35:26Speaker 4: and you know what? He would not be unhappy with that.
- 35:30Speaker 1: He'd prefer it, actually. It's well done by him.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Exactly, exactly.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Mikey, you got one here?
- 35:36Speaker 4: Yep.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Jameis Winston walks in.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Tim Tebow walks in.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Wow.
- 35:42Speaker 4: That is so easy. Jameis Winston in a second.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Really?
- 35:45Speaker 4: Okay. Jameis, well, Jameis, listen. Jameis, my daughter was probably
- 35:51Speaker 4: four years old. and we used to have a Heisman
- 35:54Speaker 4: dinner dance, and Jameis couldn't have been nicer. He had
- 35:58Speaker 4: her out there on the dance floor dancing, and he
- 36:01Speaker 4: was really nice to my daughter, so he definitely gets
- 36:04Speaker 4: the edge.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I love that.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Go ahead, Taylor.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Barry Sanders walks in.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Wow.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Baker Mayfield walks in. Who gets the table?
- 36:14Speaker 1: I mean, Baker thinks he's getting it, just so you know.
- 36:16Speaker 2: People I've seen in commercials with Gino Toretta.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Yep. Oh, yes. You know what? I love both of them.
- 36:22Speaker 4: I play with Barry in Detroit. Baker, obviously known since
- 36:28Speaker 4: his time in Oklahoma and the Heisman, Davey O'Brien, all that.
- 36:33Speaker 4: I got to go, Barry. You know, maybe that's just
- 36:36Speaker 4: an age thing. I mean, he's the great. I can
- 36:39Speaker 4: just tell you watching film when I play with Barry
- 36:41Speaker 4: in a regular season game, every running play, the entire
- 36:46Speaker 4: offense was like, nice run, Barry. Nice run, Barry. Nice run, Barry.
- 36:50Speaker 4: It was like how many defensive guys touched him before
- 36:54Speaker 4: they would tackle him? One to five.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 36:56Speaker 4: And that was him. But, yeah, Barry, they're both my guys.
- 37:00Speaker 4: That one would be tough, but I think a seat
- 37:05Speaker 4: at the bar for Baker, too, would be okay. All right.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Go ahead, Mikey.
- 37:10Speaker 5: All right, last one for me. Johnny Manziel walks in.
- 37:16Speaker 5: Cam Newton walks in.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Hmm. Wow. Johnny Manziel and Cam. It's a tough one.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I'm going to go with Cam. Because Cam is so
- 37:31Speaker 4: goddamn big, I'd be afraid of him. Right.
- 37:34Speaker 5: Yes.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 37:35Speaker 1: You fear for your life.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Yes.
- 37:36Speaker 1: 6'6, 250 walks in.
- 37:37Speaker 4: I'm like.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Where do you want to sit? You can have a
- 37:43Speaker 4: table for four.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Clear tables, yes. Go ahead, Taylor.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Two more and we'll get you out of here, Gino.
- 37:50Speaker 2: So now we're going to Toretta's in Coral Gables. The
- 37:56Speaker 2: 92 Miami Hurricanes in town. Warren Sapp walks in. Mario
- 38:02Speaker 2: Cristobal walks in. Who gets the table, Gino?
- 38:04Speaker 4: Wow, wow, wow.
- 38:05Speaker 6: Oh.
- 38:07Speaker 4: I'm closer with Warren. Um. I think the gold jacket
- 38:13Speaker 4: kind of tips the scale in your favor with that one.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Atta boy.
- 38:17Speaker 4: Yes. I go with that.
- 38:19Speaker 6: All right.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Good. Good answer.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Last one. This is the Coral Gables location. Michael Irvin
- 38:25Speaker 3: walks in. Malachi Tony walks in. Who's getting the table?
- 38:34Speaker 4: You know what? Michael could talk his way into another table.
- 38:38Speaker 1: He had an existing table, yes.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Yeah, like he would somehow know somebody and talk his
- 38:46Speaker 4: way in. Malachi because of the present. Listen, we're a
- 38:52Speaker 4: young upstart Italian steakhouse. We're trying to catch a little buzz.
- 38:57Speaker 4: The buzz is created with social media and all this
- 39:00Speaker 4: other stuff these kids do. So I'm giving it to Malachi,
- 39:07Speaker 4: and I'm going to let Michael walk around the restaurant
- 39:09Speaker 4: and annoy somebody to pull up a chair.
- 39:11Speaker 2: On all fours?
- 39:12Speaker 4: He can be their additional person.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Gino, Carson Beck walks in. Cam Ward walks in.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Who gets the table?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, that was quick.
- 39:25Speaker 4: All right. Cam Ward had the greatest season of any
- 39:27Speaker 4: quarterback in University of Miami history. I don't know. I
- 39:31Speaker 4: don't think that's a debate. I know Carson got us
- 39:33Speaker 4: to the national championship game, but I'm going based on
- 39:38Speaker 4: Cam's season.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Would it be Cam over Mensah? Mensah has to do more, right?
- 39:43Speaker 4: Uh, yeah, so far, so far, you know, I, I
- 39:46Speaker 4: think it, I think it goes to the end. Um,
- 39:49Speaker 4: you know, I would, I would say so far, but, uh, he's,
- 39:52Speaker 4: he's shown, I mean, Mensah's he's, he's done everything right.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Made some question was that one that got picked. And
- 39:59Speaker 4: I thought the one in overtime that was, he tried
- 40:01Speaker 4: to jam it down the right sideline. There was two
- 40:03Speaker 4: Florida state guys that got their hands on the ball was, uh,
- 40:06Speaker 4: was a risky one, but, uh, he's, he's undefeated so far. So.
- 40:10Speaker 3: All right, Gino, it was a great college football weekend.
- 40:13Speaker 3: We appreciate the time. Listen, that take you have on
- 40:16Speaker 3: Florida State.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Whisper that.
- 40:18Speaker 3: When you're walking around Coral Gables, I wouldn't say that
- 40:20Speaker 3: out loud. People are not going to be happy with
- 40:22Speaker 3: you that you think that should have been a catch
- 40:24Speaker 3: and we should have been headed to a third.
- 40:25Speaker 4: I didn't say we were going to lose the game.
- 40:26Speaker 4: I'm just saying. I thought it was a catch. I mean,
- 40:29Speaker 4: I've got to give my honest opinion.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Now, Stu Gottsch, I've got to tell you this. First off,
- 40:35Speaker 4: You've never been in a broadcast booth location at Hard Rock,
- 40:38Speaker 4: have you?
- 40:39Speaker 1: No.
- 40:39Speaker 4: For radio. No. Okay. So you remember where Home Plate was? Yeah. Okay.
- 40:45Speaker 4: That's the booth location.
- 40:46Speaker 1: All right.
- 40:47Speaker 4: And that's at the opposite other corner of the stadium. Yes.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Bad view. From where that play happened.
- 40:54Speaker 5: Yes.
- 40:54Speaker 4: So I was in Broward County. The ball was incomplete
- 40:58Speaker 4: in Dade County.
- 41:00Speaker 6: And.
- 41:01Speaker 4: As a 56-year-old man, hell, I can barely see. I'm
- 41:05Speaker 4: trying to watch the replay at the same time as
- 41:07Speaker 4: watching the game. It's not an ideal setup, if you will.
- 41:13Speaker 4: I hope that I won't tell you that.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Okay, but you thought it was a catch, and I'm
- 41:15Speaker 1: just telling you to whisper.
- 41:16Speaker 4: I can defend myself. I'm like, I can't see that far.
- 41:19Speaker 4: I mean, I'm 200 yards away. I might as well
- 41:22Speaker 4: have been on the 50-yard line in the third deck,
- 41:25Speaker 4: and I'd probably have a better look at that play.
- 41:27Speaker 4: All right, I'll leave you alone.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Gino, we appreciate the time. Enjoy Wisconsin. Enjoy seeing your daughter, man.
- 41:32Speaker 3: The Canes are number one. They're undefeated.
- 41:34Speaker 1: They don't have to apologize to anybody.
- 41:35Speaker 5: Thank you, man.
- 41:37Speaker 4: Sounds good.
