- 0:02Speaker1: Hey, everyone, and welcome to Eye Opener Society.
- 0:05Speaker1: Once again, we thank you so much. You, the wonderful, beautiful audience that tunes into us.
- 0:11Speaker1: And we're just getting over a little vacation. So last week,
- 0:15Speaker1: we did not have an episode for you.
- 0:16Speaker1: And I know you missed us. And I know that you've been waiting for this episode
- 0:19Speaker1: because I've been promoting it for a while.
- 0:22Speaker1: I always said I wanted to get on the road and go
- 0:25Speaker1: visit Metaphysical Shop and do a podcast from that shop and i found the perfect
- 0:31Speaker1: shop and it's in cynthiana kentucky yep and we are here with carly and carla
- 0:38Speaker1: from appalachian root works ladies how are we doing honestly
- 0:43Speaker2: We're tired it's a good tired yeah
- 0:48Speaker1: Yeah
- 0:49Speaker0: So it's just super excited um to be able to share time and space with someone
- 0:54Speaker0: that appreciates all the things the same way we do.
- 0:58Speaker0: So we appreciate you driving down and making the effort and all that.
- 1:02Speaker0: All the things. Yeah. So thank you.
- 1:04Speaker1: Yeah, absolutely. You're so welcome. It was great because we came down.
- 1:07Speaker1: It was like a nine-hour drive, and I haven't had a vacation in years with my
- 1:11Speaker1: wife. So it was nice to take the little break, come down here.
- 1:14Speaker1: And I came down right during – Cynthia has, I guess, this car show that was – The Rod Run,
- 1:19Speaker2: Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker1: Yeah, the Rod Run. And so the streets were packed, and we came in here a little
- 1:22Speaker1: bit early, and I saw just how packed the shop was.
- 1:25Speaker1: I said, this is beautiful because you're getting such great business.
- 1:28Speaker1: I was all excited for you guys.
- 1:30Speaker1: And I said, this is great. So my wife and I, we walked around the town,
- 1:34Speaker1: found so many other great little shops around here.
- 1:37Speaker1: I had such a good time and we came back and now I'm here and I'm recording with you guys on my show.
- 1:43Speaker1: And the exciting thing about Appalachian Rootworks is Carly and Carla also have
- 1:48Speaker1: their own podcast without a candle.
- 1:50Speaker1: So as soon as I pack up all my stuff, then we're going to switch over and then
- 1:54Speaker1: I'm going to be a guest on their show.
- 1:56Speaker2: Yeah. I'm excited about that.
- 1:57Speaker0: I'm excited about that too. Two birds, one stone today. Yeah. Yeah. That's awesome.
- 2:02Speaker2: Cool.
- 2:03Speaker1: Yeah. So what I wanted to do is this shop and the whole thing that fascinates me about shops,
- 2:11Speaker1: They all have their own individual feels to them. They all have their own vibe, their own energy.
- 2:16Speaker1: And that's due to the shop owners.
- 2:19Speaker0: Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker1: And I got that really great vibe just from your Facebook and from finding you
- 2:25Speaker1: on the podcast website on Facebook.
- 2:27Speaker1: And I said, well, these people are wonderful. And then when I heard you guys
- 2:29Speaker1: are doing a podcast, I said, this is going to be even more fun than I ever thought.
- 2:33Speaker0: Thank you.
- 2:34Speaker1: But sitting right beside you, and I know if you're watching me on video,
- 2:37Speaker1: I seem so short, but it's a short chance.
- 2:41Speaker1: All right. I'm way taller.
- 2:44Speaker1: We are. Well, no, I'm way taller. I'm like 6'5 or something.
- 2:48Speaker0: You really are.
- 2:49Speaker1: Just like I'm 20 years old too, right? But I got the wonderful sense that you're
- 2:56Speaker1: beautiful souls, both of you.
- 2:58Speaker1: Thank you. And that's why I really wanted to come down.
- 3:01Speaker2: Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker1: Get in touch with that, you know, vibe. And this shop has, I mean,
- 3:06Speaker1: amongst all of the crystals and, you know, all of the other types of metaphysical
- 3:13Speaker1: tools and the apothecary that you have.
- 3:16Speaker1: And then all of the services that you offer. Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker2: It's a feat to keep up with, but we manage.
- 3:22Speaker0: We're putting it on the wall up front so we can remember what we do.
- 3:26Speaker0: Yeah. Because we do almost everything that you need.
- 3:28Speaker2: Yeah. We have some, like, posters coming that I'm really excited.
- 3:31Speaker2: And I ordered them yesterday that it's going to finish that info wall of all
- 3:35Speaker2: of the things and it'll highlight the other practitioners that we have in the
- 3:39Speaker2: shop and it'll highlight the weekly services and events and stuff so I'm really
- 3:43Speaker2: excited to get that finished I sold that ship today and I was like
- 3:46Speaker1: Yeah it's
- 3:48Speaker0: Something that people miss um because it's not just us that are offering the
- 3:52Speaker0: services we have a collective and a community yeah offering the services so
- 3:56Speaker0: we can um you know give back so much more yeah and we're excited to be able to share this with yeah.
- 4:04Speaker1: Right that's i think that's great because
- 4:07Speaker1: much like eye opener society i am a society we are a group of people that all
- 4:12Speaker1: get together and you know even the guests that i have people that uh jump onto
- 4:17Speaker1: the show here part of that community as well and this shop does have that it
- 4:22Speaker1: has that community feel to it, the community vibe to it,
- 4:26Speaker1: amongst all the wonderful things that you guys got.
- 4:28Speaker2: Thank you. Thank you.
- 4:29Speaker1: Yeah, for sure. And like I said, just sitting here, Frank, I get the wonderful
- 4:33Speaker1: vibe from you, but however you guys want to promote it, I mean, let the audience know.
- 4:39Speaker1: About the shop, where it's located, where to find you, how to find you,
- 4:42Speaker1: and all the services you have to offer.
- 4:44Speaker0: If we can remember.
- 4:45Speaker1: If you can remember, yeah.
- 4:46Speaker0: So something I want to start off with first is that Appalachian Reworks joined
- 4:52Speaker0: with Carly and Rooted in Rune.
- 4:54Speaker0: So we share a space, but technically we're two businesses.
- 4:58Speaker0: And a lot of people miss that kind of piece of the puzzle, too.
- 5:02Speaker0: But Carly and I met. This is where she comes in because I'm not good with time and space.
- 5:06Speaker0: Like, days don't mean anything to me. so way back what to 2021 2021.
- 5:11Speaker2: Yeah so you started your
- 5:14Speaker2: business in 2019 peddling your soaps
- 5:17Speaker2: yeah um and then when you moved to your second location
- 5:20Speaker2: is when you found me when i was fundraising for my adoption
- 5:24Speaker2: and using my business at the time which is
- 5:26Speaker2: a complete 180 from what it is now um i used to sell like tumblers and t-shirts
- 5:32Speaker2: and stuff like that and so when she saw me fundraising she didn't even know
- 5:37Speaker2: me she was like hey i have this space come use it for your fundraising and she
- 5:41Speaker2: hasn't kicked me out yet and
- 5:44Speaker0: It was coffee with carly yeah.
- 5:46Speaker2: So it was coffee with carly i was using coffee as a fundraiser and um it was
- 5:51Speaker2: about a year and a half i was just showing up and telling her hey if you need
- 5:55Speaker2: help i'll help and then she was like come be a vendor and i started selling
- 5:59Speaker2: my shirts in the shop and then we moved here and she hounded me and bullied me into being a partner.
- 6:05Speaker0: I think that's fist and arm. Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker2: No, it wasn't. It wasn't a hard decision. I love, I love Carla. Who was that?
- 6:12Speaker2: Um, that was, we moved here November of 21. Okay. November of 21. November of 21.
- 6:18Speaker2: Yeah 22 okay 22 it's better it's
- 6:21Speaker2: 20 yeah 22 um so when
- 6:25Speaker2: we moved here we literally had just like ikea
- 6:28Speaker2: furniture and like furniture from marketplace and we would just use random tables
- 6:32Speaker2: and shelving that we would find and like secondhand stuff and then um this year
- 6:37Speaker2: more so we've added on more practitioners and more services and we're going
- 6:43Speaker2: back to school so to speak both of us to learn more stuff so
- 6:48Speaker0: Taking it back to the past of life from the past if that's okay um when i first
- 6:53Speaker0: met carly this was all kind of new oh so the first time we met in a service
- 7:00Speaker0: was she came to a reiki fair oh god and then i mean it feels like the rest is history.
- 7:07Speaker2: I bawled it took her a good like six to eight months to hug me just in general
- 7:12Speaker2: like give me a hug because the first time we hugged was me crying and she thought
- 7:17Speaker2: i would start crying again if she hugged
- 7:19Speaker0: Me and now i'm the weeper yeah yeah.
- 7:23Speaker2: So but
- 7:25Speaker0: Man we've grown a lot together a lot of awareness together um a lot of trials
- 7:30Speaker0: together too i mean still today oh yeah absolutely um with acceptance in the
- 7:35Speaker0: community as you probably know it's not always easy yeah for those that push
- 7:40Speaker0: the envelope just a little bit to be.
- 7:42Speaker2: That's been about two years now since we've had to worry about that, thankfully.
- 7:46Speaker2: At one point, we did have some protesters in town, but that's a story for another
- 7:51Speaker2: day. Yeah, that's a whole other episode.
- 7:55Speaker2: But no, it's been pretty quiet for the most part on that side.
- 7:59Speaker2: On our side, next year, some big things happening.
- 8:05Speaker2: I don't know if Carla wants to share. It's up to her.
- 8:08Speaker0: Well, nothing's written yet.
- 8:10Speaker2: But we've we're manifesting okay
- 8:13Speaker2: So we're manifest. Do you want to share? Sure.
- 8:16Speaker0: So it's what we do. Okay.
- 8:18Speaker1: This is an exclusive only heard here on eye open of society.
- 8:23Speaker1: I just want to get that. Yeah.
- 8:26Speaker2: So we have a goal and we've been told in a couple different readings together
- 8:32Speaker2: and separately, ironically, that this is going to happen.
- 8:36Speaker2: And it's been something that Carla has been pushing and manifesting even before me coming on.
- 8:43Speaker2: And so it's slowly starting to become a reality.
- 8:46Speaker0: And just branching out. And so that means offering more services to more community.
- 8:52Speaker0: And how you do that unless you have more locations.
- 8:56Speaker0: So possibly, actually, no, it's going to happen in 2026, a second location.
- 9:03Speaker0: Yeah. So we're excited about that. Scared shitless. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 9:08Speaker2: So we're, you know, we're playing a lot out there. um we're excited about it
- 9:14Speaker2: um it makes me want to throw up thinking about it but it's a good like
- 9:19Speaker0: Nervous um.
- 9:21Speaker2: So yeah that's a little bit about the history of the shop um the services started
- 9:26Speaker2: with carla obviously um she started yoga training first
- 9:31Speaker0: Yes so yoga teacher training um in 2020 um not
- 9:35Speaker0: even sure still this day how i survived that because my dad passed
- 9:38Speaker0: away 2020 20 so during yoga teacher
- 9:41Speaker0: training we would meet once a month for the weekend and
- 9:45Speaker0: oftentimes i was in a corner like i was deep
- 9:48Speaker0: in grief just you know uh often crying because
- 9:51Speaker0: yoga is so deep of a practice it's not just the physical aspect of things like
- 9:57Speaker0: it's a deep practice yeah and um so made it through my grief with that made
- 10:01Speaker0: it through yoga teacher training and um so after that uh we don't have quite
- 10:07Speaker0: permission to use people's names.
- 10:09Speaker0: I didn't think ahead on that. So I'll just be kind of vague.
- 10:12Speaker0: I had an elder mentor in the shop and she's like, go do Reiki.
- 10:17Speaker0: I'm like, what the hell is Reiki?
- 10:20Speaker0: And she's like, it doesn't matter. Go do it. Right. So I did.
- 10:24Speaker0: And then that just kind of took off into some of the other things.
- 10:27Speaker2: And so I learned Reiki under her. And then in our second location,
- 10:32Speaker2: we started bringing more holistic stuff to the spiritual.
- 10:35Speaker2: So we introduced like the foot baths detoxes, the ear candling, the ear seeds.
- 10:41Speaker2: And now here we have more
- 10:44Speaker2: space than what we did at the last location and carla's
- 10:47Speaker2: first location um and we
- 10:50Speaker2: have the pemf machine we have um
- 10:53Speaker2: we do sound healing with our carla
- 10:57Speaker2: yeah so the singing bowls and she just introduced drumming with with her sound
- 11:03Speaker2: healing um i have a service called the basics 101 where i basically help people
- 11:10Speaker2: get a foundation of what spirituality and paganism is and help them find their path um carla has um
- 11:17Speaker0: More oh well when you teach you also teach some of those other classes like crystal grid oh yeah.
- 11:24Speaker2: So like my group classes like candle magic and then i also teach rune divination
- 11:29Speaker2: so i teach people how to read runes and be a room practitioner um carla soul
- 11:35Speaker2: strings and conversations in spirit explain that because i don't want to butcher it so um
- 11:40Speaker0: A conversation on spirit is probably the trickiest one to it
- 11:43Speaker0: well it's the least tricky one to explain so i'll explain that one
- 11:46Speaker0: first um it's about seeking closure
- 11:49Speaker0: and how do you do that if the
- 11:52Speaker0: person is maybe mentally emotionally unavailable or what if they're past so
- 11:58Speaker0: they're just unavailable right um so meeting with them and their soul state
- 12:04Speaker0: um to have that conversation and what whatever sacred space you choose um and a guided meditation.
- 12:12Speaker2: Yeah wow
- 12:13Speaker1: Yeah so that's a lot i mean we're running through
- 12:16Speaker1: the whole kind of metaphysical rainbow here
- 12:20Speaker1: yeah absolutely you know and that's and
- 12:23Speaker1: i really like that because there's many
- 12:26Speaker1: people either they're very involved in
- 12:29Speaker1: the entire metaphysical you know world and they know but occasionally they are
- 12:34Speaker1: missing a little part of it and they want to learn about it or you have the
- 12:38Speaker1: complete opposite end of the spectrum where people know nothing about it but
- 12:42Speaker1: curious about it so they can reach out and you have all this to offer
- 12:47Speaker2: Yeah and
- 12:48Speaker1: So how do people find you
- 12:50Speaker2: So we are on um facebook so appalachian rootworks rooted in runes um tiktok instagram
- 13:01Speaker2: Our website, AppalachianReworks.com.
- 13:03Speaker0: A work in progress.
- 13:05Speaker2: Yeah. Don't judge us. I mean, you can book services on there.
- 13:09Speaker2: You can shop like a third of the store.
- 13:12Speaker2: And it's still a lot that's on there.
- 13:15Speaker2: I haven't quite got with Jamisa. We also have, I want to, we have helping hands.
- 13:20Speaker2: I'm so sorry. Our support team that literally keep our shit together.
- 13:25Speaker2: Jill and Jamisa, they're here once a week. both
- 13:28Speaker2: of them collectively work about two or three days for us um
- 13:31Speaker2: and they literally help us keep our shit together absolutely they help us stock
- 13:35Speaker2: um jamisa's a whiz with all of the technology stuff jill keeps us clean you
- 13:41Speaker2: know and then just their energy too everybody loves them like jamisa she makes
- 13:46Speaker2: all of our shirts now because that is i'm retired from shirt making well
- 13:50Speaker0: That's been an evolution right so when we first
- 13:53Speaker0: moved over here in those early stages um the
- 13:57Speaker0: only person that had to keep their shit together was me and so
- 14:00Speaker0: carly could handle me right right but now that carly's grown too i know something
- 14:06Speaker0: we both need a nanny we both need someone to keep our shit together so we love
- 14:11Speaker0: our support team yeah and that grew um organically and naturally like we didn't
- 14:16Speaker0: have to search for those people.
- 14:17Speaker2: They just showed up one day yeah kind of like how i did can't keep them out
- 14:22Speaker2: so but yeah um we're in cynthiana kentucky um so central kentucky we're about
- 14:28Speaker2: 20 minutes from georgetown about 30 40 minutes from lexington but depending
- 14:33Speaker2: on what side you come from um and we're about an hour from cincinnati i
- 14:37Speaker0: Want to drop another nugget yeah so alexandria is about 50 ish minutes from here.
- 14:44Speaker2: Okay so that
- 14:45Speaker0: Might be a.
- 14:46Speaker2: Halfway point yeah between in Cincinnati and here.
- 14:50Speaker2: But 208 Pike Street, you can't miss it. Old black doors. You usually have a
- 14:54Speaker2: lot of shit on the windows.
- 14:55Speaker0: And you usually smell the shop before you can see the shop. Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker1: It's always a good thing too.
- 15:01Speaker0: So burning incense. So was there any questions that you've had entering the
- 15:06Speaker0: space or what other questions.
- 15:08Speaker1: See what i was always interested in when um not
- 15:11Speaker1: only the fact that you guys have a podcast which we're going to get into yeah but
- 15:14Speaker1: when it comes to a shop as i explained uh to you guys it's
- 15:17Speaker1: always about the vibe to me and that's that's
- 15:21Speaker1: the most important thing with any shop melissa my wife who's here with us today
- 15:25Speaker1: uh and she's actually browsing around the shop spending all my money she's so
- 15:29Speaker1: excited and that's wonderful that's that's why i know it's a good vibe because
- 15:34Speaker1: we've been in shops before and i don't think people realize this especially when it comes to
- 15:40Speaker1: crystals and stuff like that if you're in a busy shop and
- 15:43Speaker1: everybody's got their hands all over those crystals it's absorbing those people's
- 15:47Speaker1: energies now someone like my wife who's extremely sensitive stuff like that
- 15:51Speaker1: she will pick up a crystal and she can pick up that negative energy from that
- 15:56Speaker1: right so shops like this um i'm sure your crystals are always cleansed we
- 16:02Speaker2: Cleanse And often what you were smelling were sage bombs that literally get lit frequently here.
- 16:09Speaker1: Yeah.
- 16:09Speaker2: Yeah. And then we do ceremonial cleansing and stuff quite a bit.
- 16:13Speaker1: Right. And I think that's important for shops, metaphysical shops.
- 16:18Speaker1: It's the care of the stuff that you are selling and you're selling things that
- 16:22Speaker1: are clean, pure, and free of all the negative energy that can accidentally be picked up.
- 16:28Speaker1: And I don't think people really understand that. uh but this shop this here
- 16:33Speaker1: building is really interesting you know the history with this building um
- 16:38Speaker2: Very little it was like what 1914 or something like that
- 16:42Speaker0: So something in the history is kind of tricky because it was
- 16:45Speaker0: burnt at one point oh yeah yes so a
- 16:48Speaker0: lot of buildings were um refurbished and revamped and
- 16:51Speaker0: that kind of stuff this shop this gives me
- 16:54Speaker0: cold chills sharing this this shop has been a
- 16:57Speaker0: starting point for a lot of other
- 17:00Speaker0: small businesses still in Sydney yeah right
- 17:03Speaker0: um so the potential though
- 17:06Speaker0: opened up when we moved in and we
- 17:09Speaker0: put some love and care in it like the paints and
- 17:12Speaker0: then you know just restoring some of the things too so
- 17:15Speaker0: that changed the energy as well um we do
- 17:18Speaker0: know a little bit of a history like not names and stuff just
- 17:21Speaker0: stories one of the individuals that lived and
- 17:24Speaker0: passed here was in a wheelchair so in the front you see that bay window and
- 17:29Speaker0: so that she could roll up to the window and then she could watch up and down
- 17:33Speaker0: the street yeah um and i do know that she did pass in the building as well but
- 17:38Speaker0: nothing malicious here nothing out you know off-putting or anything like that i feel.
- 17:42Speaker2: Like she lets us know she's here quite a bit she rings the doorbell the developing door sometimes
- 17:48Speaker2: And it's only once in a while, like, hey, I'm still here type thing.
- 17:51Speaker2: And nobody's like walking through the door.
- 17:53Speaker0: Sometimes I'm called to say hello in a way that I am greeting someone here.
- 18:00Speaker0: You know, there's several times I come back and it's not a bad uncomfortable,
- 18:03Speaker0: but I come back and it feels slightly uncomfortable. Like maybe I have intruded
- 18:08Speaker0: on a space. I'm like, hello, how's it going?
- 18:11Speaker0: You know, and then I can go about my day. But for a quick moment,
- 18:15Speaker0: the space does have that feeling of just someone else is here.
- 18:21Speaker0: You didn't greet yourself, right? Yeah.
- 18:23Speaker1: It sounds good because that's a good lead-in, too. Do you guys do anything as
- 18:27Speaker1: far as paranormal, too, as well?
- 18:30Speaker2: So down the street, did you guys see Ra's Opera House?
- 18:34Speaker2: Yes. Okay. So we actually have an event we are hosting next Saturday, actually.
- 18:41Speaker2: We do it about once a year and it
- 18:43Speaker2: is an overnight investigation and this
- 18:46Speaker2: year we actually partnered with a group of paranormal investigation
- 18:49Speaker2: group out of lexington that's going to come down and split us into two groups
- 18:53Speaker2: and take us through the whole thing there um in the first two years we did it
- 18:58Speaker2: we kind of did that investigation just on our own we would all break up and
- 19:01Speaker2: do our kind of own thing but we'll meet here at 9 p.m and wander down there
- 19:06Speaker2: and hang out till about four or five and go
- 19:09Speaker0: So when carly and i did it years past um we didn't take equipment we didn't
- 19:14Speaker0: you know we took some toys and that kind of stuff um but we have so much that
- 19:19Speaker0: is brought to our awareness without trying um.
- 19:23Speaker2: That we didn't really
- 19:24Speaker0: Need tools yeah yeah so that makes sense
- 19:27Speaker0: down there like i was doing some dowsing rods
- 19:30Speaker0: and like listening so claire audient and a lot of other
- 19:33Speaker0: claire gifts too but i heard if you guys know what that means i heard ring around
- 19:38Speaker0: the rosie and then so one of our friends started singing around around the road
- 19:42Speaker0: and we caught some orbs yeah on video but that wasn't with equipment that was
- 19:47Speaker0: just you know using your body as your tool yeah so going back to.
- 19:51Speaker2: One so why ring around the road was such
- 19:54Speaker0: A trigger.
- 19:56Speaker2: There is because one of the stories is that two kids ended up dying in the fire
- 20:02Speaker2: that happened during when like cynthiana bird down though they hang out at the stage and like tricks
- 20:08Speaker0: So yeah did you not know that no i
- 20:11Speaker0: didn't okay and they you know there's often stories of them like petting
- 20:14Speaker0: women's hair and that kind of stuff too so um but as far as like other paranormal
- 20:19Speaker0: stuff carly has you know a little bit of a sense of knowing um and i feel like
- 20:25Speaker0: we in reiki sometimes get those yeah some Some of those medium shipworkings come as well. Yeah.
- 20:33Speaker0: I mean, hopefully that helps. It does.
- 20:36Speaker1: Yeah, it does. It totally does. Yeah. All of that encompasses basically
- 20:42Speaker1: what this metaphysical shop is i mean if there was
- 20:45Speaker1: a so-called full service metaphysical job
- 20:48Speaker1: this would be it you know i you know because a lot of places they just deal
- 20:52Speaker1: with oh here's a bunch of crystals or here's some books and they don't have
- 20:57Speaker1: as many services but this i would say would be a full service anything you want
- 21:01Speaker1: or need and i'm pretty sure too you have um you know if there's something you
- 21:05Speaker1: don't offer yeah you can find oh yeah
- 21:08Speaker2: Oh yeah we do do that um i think
- 21:11Speaker2: it's important to know that cindyana is rural kentucky
- 21:14Speaker2: yeah so you have to drive quite a bit to get to anything so we try really hard
- 21:19Speaker2: to make things pretty accessible for the community um so if we don't have it
- 21:23Speaker2: here like your wife was asking hey do you have this i'm like nope but i'll order
- 21:26Speaker2: it and get it for you yeah and that's what we do like people just if we don't have it yet we will
- 21:31Speaker2: tell us like yeah the same thing with services yeah
- 21:34Speaker0: All the things so i'm not sure if
- 21:37Speaker0: you notice wandering cindyana but we are a community
- 21:40Speaker0: of middle low class right so pricing
- 21:44Speaker0: is super important to us as well yeah
- 21:47Speaker0: with the intention of accessibility like everyone
- 21:50Speaker0: needs access yeah to be able to grow and develop
- 21:54Speaker0: and have the things right like it shouldn't be out of reach for anyone yeah
- 21:58Speaker0: and that's a different sense of having a community support which we offer um
- 22:04Speaker0: versus some of the there's no dissing any of the other you know shops but um
- 22:10Speaker0: we're not in it for profit really no.
- 22:13Speaker2: We're truly in it for like the community and i think that's why
- 22:16Speaker2: um we chose the name for the podcast and decided to go and teach that way because
- 22:22Speaker2: that's how we teach is you're the greatest tool you don't need to buy all this
- 22:26Speaker2: stuff this stuff's fun this stuff's cool if you want to get it but you don't
- 22:30Speaker2: need it it's not a need in any practice and
- 22:34Speaker1: I like that that's this day and age especially especially
- 22:38Speaker1: in the communities that you're in that's just wonderful that
- 22:41Speaker1: you know you're thinking really of the community first rather
- 22:44Speaker1: than the business where a lot of businesses now they're
- 22:47Speaker1: only putting themselves first so i really like that honestly bravo to both of
- 22:51Speaker1: you for that and i'm sure the community is very you know thankful for that as
- 22:56Speaker1: well which then you brought up and i wanted to talk about yeah on top of all
- 23:01Speaker1: of this you guys started a podcast without a candle and that's the whole reason i connected
- 23:06Speaker2: With you guys found each other so i was on facebook asking questions um so we
- 23:12Speaker2: launched it um summer solstice of this year so june 21st um i i don't know it
- 23:18Speaker2: just felt good that we launched it that day um but carla came up with the name without a candle.
- 23:26Speaker2: And that goes back to
- 23:28Speaker2: we teach people that ironically we sell all the stuff but we tell you like hey
- 23:33Speaker2: you don't need it right um but yeah you want to you want to share your thoughts
- 23:37Speaker0: Before that before it was a thing it was an aha moment and i thought i was sitting
- 23:44Speaker0: at a kitchen table right here in the middle and i looked up i don't remember
- 23:48Speaker0: who was with me that day but i looked up and i'm like,
- 23:51Speaker0: this would be a great spot you know for like videos or
- 23:55Speaker0: podcasts and then i'm like carly's and kill me so i mentioned it and then just
- 24:00Speaker0: like with that you know lots of other things um i drop good ideas off and carly
- 24:05Speaker0: i just go you make those happen yeah just go love for that so much um but we
- 24:11Speaker0: share so much on a daily basis like we.
- 24:14Speaker2: Have so many good conversations like we were just having one with you before
- 24:17Speaker2: we started i was like gary hit record because this is a podcast yeah like that's
- 24:22Speaker2: how it is day after day whether it's just being carla or if it's people coming
- 24:26Speaker2: in and having meaningful conversation like this shit needs to be recorded for
- 24:31Speaker2: the collective like it's it's missed opportunity to just free education for people
- 24:36Speaker1: It is and i like it and without a candle i said i love that idea because um
- 24:42Speaker1: i know you talked about in one of your episodes and i spoke about it too it's
- 24:45Speaker1: like we gotta stop the gatekeeping within this community
- 24:49Speaker1: you know it's gatekeeping right and
- 24:53Speaker1: i feel the same way so you know most people leave
- 24:56Speaker1: mainstream religion because of that because it's always so strict so structured
- 25:01Speaker1: you have to do it this way we get into spirituality to be our own free self
- 25:06Speaker1: yeah to do things the way we feel is comfortable for us yeah so without a candle
- 25:10Speaker1: struck a chord with me i said that's beautiful yeah thank you
- 25:14Speaker0: Yeah go intuitively teaching is huge
- 25:17Speaker0: for us too right this oh excuse me
- 25:21Speaker0: when we're teaching reiki and that kind of thing um i
- 25:24Speaker0: request that people do their own book learning
- 25:27Speaker0: first and then when they come in here we're going
- 25:30Speaker0: to learn the traditional you see you should we practice if
- 25:33Speaker0: i can talk sorry about that that's right um we're going
- 25:36Speaker0: to learn the traditional practices and traditional techniques but
- 25:39Speaker0: then when we go to our own hands-on stuff um
- 25:43Speaker0: you're gonna learn how to run a service intuitively
- 25:46Speaker0: and to listen to your instincts yeah and that's
- 25:49Speaker0: huge um and i did that because what
- 25:53Speaker0: i found was happening when i was a reiki student um
- 25:57Speaker0: just just level one i want to highlight that because
- 26:00Speaker0: my level two teacher and my master were absolutely amazing
- 26:03Speaker0: and that was not the case um i left being
- 26:07Speaker0: like okay now what so i got the.
- 26:10Speaker0: Education the knowledge um and the
- 26:13Speaker0: certificate but i honestly felt a little
- 26:16Speaker0: bit like she was gatekeeping the practice right like
- 26:19Speaker0: she wanted a student for the sake of having a student
- 26:22Speaker0: yeah but she didn't really want a new practitioner no
- 26:25Speaker0: so coming in um so jeff
- 26:29Speaker0: sue taught was my reiki to um teacher and my
- 26:32Speaker0: reiki master practitioner as well um he
- 26:35Speaker0: came in and he was the one that gave
- 26:37Speaker0: me the aha moment of like people need to leave seeing
- 26:41Speaker0: a service like they need to know how the service is ran yeah does that make
- 26:45Speaker0: sense and i really appreciate jeff for that but that was a you know another
- 26:50Speaker0: excuse me breakthrough about um not gatekeeping yeah like knowledge not that
- 26:57Speaker0: knowledge and information should be free,
- 27:00Speaker0: But when someone pays for that knowledge and information and to be a practitioner,
- 27:04Speaker0: they should have the option to truly do that, you know? Yeah. Right.
- 27:09Speaker1: Well, that's great. So your episodes are amazing. Thank you. I will say that.
- 27:14Speaker1: The other amazing thing you're going to have a really great guest on too on
- 27:17Speaker1: your next episode yeah this guy called gary from it's going to be amazing i
- 27:24Speaker0: Don't know you know so just a few minutes ago that i opened society it didn't
- 27:30Speaker0: click with me until today when it really with me like the message oh he's not
- 27:36Speaker0: even shared the message but to literally um,
- 27:40Speaker0: my understanding from my intuitive like you know self is that sharing information
- 27:46Speaker0: sharing knowledge and partnerships and clubs um to.
- 27:50Speaker1: Literally open
- 27:52Speaker0: People's eyes you know to be able to see and um know that there's more right
- 27:58Speaker0: yeah um that's so funny that's just like i want you to be a minute you.
- 28:03Speaker2: Know literally as soon as i like met you and you were like sharing a little
- 28:07Speaker2: like a podcast literally i was on my way to michigan and i deep dived into like
- 28:12Speaker2: the whole six hours i'm like daniel and i kept pausing and i'm like telling
- 28:15Speaker2: my husband i'm like daniel you gotta listen to this and he's like too tired
- 28:19Speaker2: like i'm like whatever i'm going to and i'm like eating it like candy like yeah
- 28:23Speaker2: i was i was enjoying it i really liked it
- 28:26Speaker1: Yeah well i opened a society you know it's it is a society basically uh where
- 28:31Speaker1: we can we can all share ideas people can come on and share their ideas as well
- 28:35Speaker1: i've got other podcasts and the name the name
- 28:40Speaker1: really was something that i discovered on facebook when
- 28:44Speaker1: uh i just when i first came on i didn't know you could have
- 28:46Speaker1: like a business page or an alternative page so
- 28:50Speaker1: i said oh i was gonna start like a ufo because i love ufos it's
- 28:53Speaker1: my biggest thing and i was gonna start like a
- 28:56Speaker1: group where we could meet and then
- 28:59Speaker1: i would say oh just came up with the name eye opener society and that
- 29:03Speaker1: was probably like 2018 and the name just sat there the whole time and so then
- 29:09Speaker1: when it came to podcasting and i had my first podcast and then when i had a
- 29:12Speaker1: rebrand i said eye opener society that's it there's a reason for that name and
- 29:17Speaker1: that's where it went so okay that's where it comes from so excuse
- 29:22Speaker1: I want to do that
- 29:23Speaker2: A little bit more.
- 29:24Speaker1: Yeah. Oh, you definitely can do that. But I want everybody that's within the center.
- 29:30Speaker1: It's like Ohio, Alexandria, Lexington, even Pennsylvania. Apparently a nine
- 29:35Speaker1: hour drive is not a big deal to me. So thank you.
- 29:37Speaker2: I appreciate that.
- 29:39Speaker1: Yeah. It's, it's really worth the drive, but you could go appalachianrootworks.com as well.
- 29:44Speaker1: And you could order stuff as much as that's on there right now.
- 29:48Speaker1: And you could always, you know, if there's something you want,
- 29:50Speaker1: that's not on the website, these are the people that could get it for you
- 29:52Speaker2: And if you don't see it on the website that doesn't mean you don't carry it
- 29:56Speaker2: just shoot us a message we'll take care of you
- 29:59Speaker0: So one last mention that almost slipped my mind,
- 30:03Speaker0: If you're not local, I'm feeling some of your, you know, your throat stuff.
- 30:10Speaker0: So if you're not local and you won't serve with us, Carly offers virtual rune readings.
- 30:14Speaker2: Oh, I do.
- 30:15Speaker0: And then we both offer distance Reiki.
- 30:17Speaker2: Yeah. So if you're not here, we can still take care of you.
- 30:21Speaker1: Yeah. And that's something I learned over the years, too. I was always never
- 30:25Speaker1: really comfortable with Reiki sessions or psychic sessions online.
- 30:30Speaker1: I thought so much gets kind of looted through, you know, internet world.
- 30:34Speaker1: But in actuality, you can feel it's no different than being in the room with somebody.
- 30:39Speaker1: It's something I actually learned. So, yeah, I'm glad it's there.
- 30:43Speaker2: Yeah, we do. So you get nosy.
- 30:46Speaker1: Yeah. So we want to appreciate everybody. And in case anybody's wondering about
- 30:51Speaker1: Lizzie, because I know she's not on the show on this year episode.
- 30:54Speaker1: But again, we're talking Utah, two hour difference. My drive down here,
- 30:58Speaker1: I didn't know when it was actually going to start.
- 31:00Speaker1: Next episode, Lizzie will be back We've been working together So much behind
- 31:04Speaker1: the scenes And I can't wait to get her back into the show Get back to this new
- 31:08Speaker1: groove of things There's something cooking that's in the works These two people
- 31:11Speaker1: know about it They're keeping the secret
- 31:15Speaker1: They're going to probably be a part of it too as well So once I have everything
- 31:19Speaker1: put together And everything's in order I'll be making the announcement And I
- 31:22Speaker1: hope everybody follows us over to this new
- 31:24Speaker1: Entire new opening This entire new world that I'm so excited about So I want
- 31:29Speaker1: to thank everybody for tuning in.
- 31:30Speaker1: I'm going to be getting myself prepared to be on another great podcast called Without a Candle.
- 31:35Speaker1: So again, don't forget to stop by Appalachian Rootworks, and we'll see you on the next episode.
- 31:40Speaker2: Thank you.
