- 0:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Good morning, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Long Island, and everywhere in between, really.
- 0:09Speaker 2: You know, it's a Friday, and it's a very special
- 0:13Speaker 2: day for me. It's a very special day. Today's my
- 0:18Speaker 2: last day at the Homeless Hospitality Center. And I've been
- 0:24Speaker 2: there for, and this is Steve Elsie, by the way.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I have been there now for seven and a half years.
- 0:31Speaker 2: And I've seen it all, man. I have seen it all.
- 0:38Speaker 2: And I was reflecting yesterday about what, in fact, I
- 0:44Speaker 2: accomplished at the Homeless Hospitality Center. And I can safely
- 0:52Speaker 2: say that my clients, anyway, were well represented. And I
- 0:59Speaker 2: think cared for and housed and provided basic life skills
- 1:10Speaker 2: and were treated as humans and not as some subhuman
- 1:20Speaker 2: that is out on the streets. So for my work,
- 1:29Speaker 2: I'm proud to say That I've made a difference.
- 1:33Speaker 3: I am.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I've made a difference. But I'm also going to say.
- 1:40Speaker 2: That I'm not enough. I made a difference. But the
- 1:49Speaker 2: outside forces. Right now. Prices of. Of groceries. Gas. Electric
- 1:57Speaker 2: bill like from Eversource is like. A million dollars a month.
- 2:01Speaker 2: For those who know. These bills. Are now taking.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Even.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Those who would think. They couldn't be homeless. And making.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And putting them in jeopardy. And more and more people.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Are finding themselves.
- 2:25Speaker 4: On the edge.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And kind of. in and out of our shelter because
- 2:31Speaker 2: of that. And we just don't have enough people. There
- 2:35Speaker 2: are programs we have that, you know, one person may
- 2:41Speaker 2: have 40 clients. Now, these clients require time and effort. Unfortunately,
- 2:53Speaker 2: there isn't enough time in the day or in the
- 2:56Speaker 2: month to get to all these folks adequately. But there's
- 3:00Speaker 2: also not enough funding to hire more people to do
- 3:03Speaker 2: it correctly. So, it's a vicious circle. I know the
- 3:11Speaker 2: people we touch, we help, but we're not enough to
- 3:16Speaker 2: help what's going on. Unfortunately, there needs to be more
- 3:20Speaker 2: that happens from the top. from the top down we
- 3:24Speaker 2: need to change change things from the top down we
- 3:26Speaker 2: need to you know things prices just need to come
- 3:29Speaker 2: down for everyday America they do and you know that
- 3:35Speaker 2: driving down here today gas is still $ 4. 39 the four
- 3:40Speaker 2: day war is still going on inflation is going up
- 3:44Speaker 2: grocery bills come on you come out with one bag
- 3:47Speaker 2: and you've spent $ 90 you know that it's not cool
- 3:52Speaker 2: man Not at all.
- 3:56Speaker 4: So.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Today.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Uh.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Is my last day. And I'll be going to the
- 4:01Speaker 2: Easter Seals.
- 4:02Speaker 3: In Norwich.
- 4:03Speaker 2: At Rally Point. Which is near Dodd Stadium. For those
- 4:05Speaker 2: who don't know. And I'll be their digital teacher. Essentially.
- 4:11Speaker 2: For the vets. So. There's going to be.
- 4:13Speaker 3: A lot of vets there.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Beautiful facility.
- 4:16Speaker 7: Um.
- 4:17Speaker 2: A gym. Museum in there.
- 4:20Speaker 7: Uh.
- 4:20Speaker 2: A day program.
- 4:22Speaker 8: Um.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And I'll be, you know, teaching computers, helping them with
- 4:30Speaker 2: cell phones, technology needs all around job search, resume building
- 4:37Speaker 2: all for vets. Now the vets that I work with
- 4:39Speaker 2: now at the homeless shelter are not the same vets
- 4:42Speaker 2: that are going to be up there up there. Those,
- 4:44Speaker 2: they already have housing homes. They just need help with.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Life.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Sometimes, um, they don't need a house. Um, But I
- 4:55Speaker 2: look forward to it. And I'm pretty good with technology.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So that's a bonus. And I think it's going to
- 5:04Speaker 2: be a good fit for me. And I will help
- 5:09Speaker 2: folks with technology and maybe even give them a chuckle
- 5:13Speaker 2: here and there. So that is today for me. being
- 5:18Speaker 2: my last day. Now, on this last day of being here,
- 5:21Speaker 2: with being here, filling in for the voice of Freedom Lee,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I had to get here kind of early. And so
- 5:32Speaker 2: last night was a bit of a challenge because my
- 5:37Speaker 2: aging dog, which I love, decided that he was going
- 5:43Speaker 2: to be sick all night. And His name is Baxter.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And he's a Labradoodle. Kind of big. But all night,
- 5:55Speaker 2: starting at around 1, he decided he needed to go
- 6:00Speaker 2: out about every 30 minutes. So, and, well, for those
- 6:09Speaker 2: of you who know, I found out because he made
- 6:14Speaker 2: a mess all over the floor. So that was the
- 6:15Speaker 2: first time. And then I put him out. And then
- 6:18Speaker 2: it was just a constant scratching on the door every
- 6:23Speaker 2: 30 minutes trying to get out. Now, if you guys
- 6:25Speaker 2: have old dogs or dogs and stuff, you know that
- 6:28Speaker 2: this is probably the worst ever is watching your dog
- 6:33Speaker 2: grow old and grow to the point where they can
- 6:38Speaker 2: no longer really just control themselves. And it's so sad.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And the strength of his legs are weak And he's
- 6:47Speaker 2: got like a harness, so I have to like pick
- 6:48Speaker 2: him up like a suitcase to get him off the ground.
- 6:54Speaker 2: It's not fun. I don't like it at all. And
- 7:00Speaker 2: I often question why. Why the universe has made it
- 7:05Speaker 2: that dogs only live 14 years.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Why?
- 7:10Speaker 2: These things are so, these things, these incredible animals are
- 7:14Speaker 2: so smart. And really our only loyal companion that man has.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And what does the universe do? Only gives it to
- 7:25Speaker 2: us for a short time.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Why?
- 7:26Speaker 2: I don't like it at all. I don't understand why
- 7:31Speaker 2: it's 14 years for a dog and 200 years for
- 7:35Speaker 2: a turtle. What's going on?
- 7:38Speaker 9: Why?
- 7:39Speaker 2: Can we do something about that? I don't know. I'm
- 7:43Speaker 2: just kind of rambling right now because I'm a little
- 7:45Speaker 2: angry at it all. but this is what happens at
- 7:48Speaker 2: the end of a life of your pets. And I
- 7:50Speaker 2: know you guys have them. And on this show, um,
- 7:54Speaker 2: dogs are well celebrated. And, uh, you've seen the pictures
- 7:59Speaker 2: of Lee with all the dogs. Well, that extends to
- 8:01Speaker 2: me too. We grew up in the same house with that.
- 8:04Speaker 2: So we have this, this love for animals and it's just,
- 8:08Speaker 2: it's so hard. It's so, so hard. Um, when they
- 8:13Speaker 2: get old and, uh, And you know they know it,
- 8:19Speaker 2: by the way, as they look at you. For help, really.
- 8:29Speaker 2: For help and not quite understanding what's going on with them.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I don't think they realize it. And all you can
- 8:37Speaker 2: do is just be there. And just do exactly what
- 8:44Speaker 2: I did last night, which is I guess I'm going
- 8:47Speaker 2: to just be up the rest of the night. And
- 8:48Speaker 2: that's just it. And I'll have to deal with it.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And that's okay. You know, I'll sleep tonight. Knowing that
- 9:01Speaker 2: I gave my best for him.
- 9:06Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 2: So that happened last night. Not to take it on
- 9:10Speaker 2: a notch, but let's bring it up a little bit.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Because we have a good show today. A really good
- 9:15Speaker 2: show today. You know, a lot of our same guests.
- 9:17Speaker 2: 7 a.m. we'll have Hayward coming on, who's going to
- 9:23Speaker 2: school us a little bit on what's happening and his thoughts.
- 9:28Speaker 2: And then at 7.30 we have Boots, which is always,
- 9:34Speaker 2: you know, on this show, you know, sort of a
- 9:38Speaker 2: tension builder. But he calls it like it is, and
- 9:41Speaker 2: I like it. And then at 8 a.m., we have
- 9:45Speaker 2: Lady Mo coming on. And I think Jessica from Goodness
- 9:51Speaker 2: Gracious is going to call in and we're going to
- 9:52Speaker 2: have a great conversation, as always, about energy and astrology
- 9:59Speaker 2: and more. And it's always just fascinating. It really is.
- 10:03Speaker 2: This whole. This whole energy and astrology thing. And how
- 10:07Speaker 2: it can be read to you. And how it can
- 10:09Speaker 2: be a blueprint for your life. It's just very fascinating.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And when you learn about it. And you go deeper
- 10:14Speaker 2: and deeper about it.
- 10:14Speaker 3: You go wow.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You just really just. understand that there's just something more.
- 10:22Speaker 2: There's just something more that's happening around us. And then, yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 2: it's amazing. So that'll be a great conversation. And then
- 10:31Speaker 2: at 8.30, we're going to just close out the week,
- 10:34Speaker 2: kind of what the Voice of Freedom does or has
- 10:36Speaker 2: done in the past. We're going to get on with
- 10:38Speaker 2: Rick Koster, who will be here in the studio talking
- 10:42Speaker 2: about all things arts, music, and of course his books.
- 10:47Speaker 2: And if you haven't heard at all, Rick writes some
- 10:50Speaker 2: pretty good books and he has lots of book signing locally. Um,
- 10:57Speaker 2: and I've been to one of them and they're pretty,
- 10:59Speaker 2: they're pretty fun. I'm not going to lie. You know,
- 11:02Speaker 2: a bunch of people show up. I mean, just as
- 11:03Speaker 2: you think, right. And, uh, he gets to talk about his,
- 11:07Speaker 2: his product, his book, his, his work. Um, and you know,
- 11:13Speaker 2: for those who haven't written a book before, it's not
- 11:15Speaker 2: an easy task, not at all. Uh, Storylines, characters, printing.
- 11:23Speaker 2: You know, trying to come up with something original. Well,
- 11:28Speaker 2: that's Rick Koster.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Mr. Original.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Well, we'll see about that. So, anyway, that's the show
- 11:38Speaker 2: for today. We'll be back shortly. I'm Steve Elzey.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I'm coming to you with nothing left to.
- 11:56Speaker 11: Hide I'm tired of being strong when I'm.

- 23:56Speaker 30: And before I go any further, I wanted to thank
- 23:58Speaker 30: so many of you for your kind words and feedback
- 24:03Speaker 30: on my little voice that I have each week.
- 24:06Speaker 3: It means a lot to me.
- 24:07Speaker 30: It means a lot that I have, you know, a
- 24:11Speaker 30: little bit of an impact sometimes and thinking things a
- 24:14Speaker 30: little bit differently in our world today.
- 24:17Speaker 3: So I appreciate that.
- 24:19Speaker 30: But this take that I have today This morning is
- 24:22Speaker 30: going to be hard to take.
- 24:23Speaker 3: It really is.
- 24:25Speaker 30: Because I saw a recent poll that broke my heart.
- 24:31Speaker 30: And I'm sure with my parents' generation and one before
- 24:36Speaker 30: them would be the same. Almost 60% of Generation Z
- 24:42Speaker 30: are not proud to be an American. In fact, 54%
- 24:47Speaker 30: said they were embarrassed to be.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Democrats, one in four. And this is the most insane
- 24:55Speaker 3: of all.
- 24:56Speaker 30: One in five young Americans now have a positive view
- 25:01Speaker 30: of Osama bin Laden, the brutal architect of the biggest
- 25:07Speaker 30: mass murder of innocent Americans in modern times. That's why
- 25:12Speaker 30: I say it's going to be hard to take on
- 25:14Speaker 30: this one. I wonder if the kids, though, in Iran
- 25:17Speaker 30: are proud of that slaughter.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Oh, wait.
- 25:20Speaker 30: They were slaughtered too. Executed for just protesting. A freedom here.
- 25:28Speaker 30: But not sure you're taught the difference.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Not sure. That's embarrassing to me.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Why?
- 25:34Speaker 30: Because comparing our young people to other countries is why.
- 25:40Speaker 30: Like 75% of young Canadians are proud to be. Kids
- 25:44Speaker 30: in Japan, same. They love their culture and daily aspects
- 25:48Speaker 30: of life in Japan. Our kids have become the cool-hand
- 25:52Speaker 30: Luke of our society.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Remember him?
- 25:56Speaker 30: Always trying to escape reality. I can just hear that
- 26:00Speaker 30: Southern Warden's cracky voice now. What we have here is
- 26:05Speaker 30: failure to communicate. We have failed in most aspects of
- 26:10Speaker 30: important influence for the Generation Z.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Our schools, our social media, political parties, our leadership.
- 26:17Speaker 30: A nonstop negative media pounding of how bad our country is,
- 26:22Speaker 30: 87% of the content of the time that they have
- 26:26Speaker 30: our attention is negative. No wonder the young hopefuls of
- 26:30Speaker 30: tomorrow think we're the bad guys. We have failed to
- 26:33Speaker 30: communicate the American way, our cultural values built on the
- 26:39Speaker 30: backs of generations. Yet, despite all that, If you look
- 26:44Speaker 30: at our country through the eyes of non-Americans who come here,
- 26:50Speaker 30: they are ironically the true believers.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I recently came across some woman.
- 26:57Speaker 30: Who was here with her friends from another country who
- 27:01Speaker 30: listed with a passion and pride, there you go, reasons
- 27:06Speaker 30: why she and her friends said America is so much
- 27:08Speaker 30: better than their own country. And the list was a
- 27:12Speaker 30: long list, but Just to pick a few, our music,
- 27:15Speaker 30: our sports teams, they love our entertainment, of course. Traditions
- 27:19Speaker 30: like Thanksgiving, barbecues, Hollywood, movies, movie stars.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Science, technology. We went to the moon.
- 27:27Speaker 2: They were proud of that.
- 27:29Speaker 30: Our passion to stop the bad guys, she mentioned, around
- 27:32Speaker 30: the world. Our dedicated military sacrificed so much. So, you know,
- 27:37Speaker 30: there's her words, not mine. She's not even on our team,
- 27:42Speaker 30: but would love to be.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Embarrassed? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 30: Generation Z should be more embarrassed that, well, some, not all,
- 27:52Speaker 30: because there's a lot of great kids out there motivated
- 27:55Speaker 30: and wanting to do great things. They're playing video games
- 28:00Speaker 30: and posting selfies. Their peers in China are eating their lunch.
- 28:09Speaker 30: 37% of Chinese kids reach the highest level of math.
- 28:13Speaker 30: versus just 7% of you.
- 28:18Speaker 3: 41%, even in Singapore. Are you kidding? Of all places.
- 28:22Speaker 30: Now, I would call that embarrassing for those 60% of
- 28:25Speaker 30: you that think patriotism is something vaguely embarrassing.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Wow.
- 28:32Speaker 30: Did failure to communicate miss some of the little details
- 28:36Speaker 30: about your country and others?
- 28:38Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 28:39Speaker 30: Did they ever mention How women are treated in parts
- 28:43Speaker 30: of the world, in some 50-some countries, that they are
- 28:46Speaker 30: just property. Zero rights, some covered from head to toe.
- 28:51Speaker 30: Can't breathe, can't see, can't talk, can't.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Walk outside without permission.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Not here.
- 28:58Speaker 30: In our country, women are thriving. Some 14 million own businesses.
- 29:04Speaker 30: 17% of black women are starting businesses, the largest of
- 29:09Speaker 30: any group. In some countries, if you're part of the
- 29:15Speaker 30: gay community, you can't marry or worse, be stoned or worse.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Here, not here.
- 29:23Speaker 30: People are free to do as they please. In some countries,
- 29:26Speaker 30: if you decide to simply change your religious beliefs, it's
- 29:32Speaker 30: written punishable by death.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Not here.
- 29:37Speaker 30: You're free to choose as you wish and worship who
- 29:42Speaker 30: you wish. So you might be looking for love in
- 29:46Speaker 30: all the wrong places. Yeah, our democracy may be at
- 29:50Speaker 30: times on life support. I agree, especially these days. But
- 29:54Speaker 30: we still have elections and freedom to live the life
- 30:00Speaker 30: we've imagined. Your job, Generation Z, is to make sure
- 30:06Speaker 30: the next generation, and we need a letter, let's call
- 30:10Speaker 30: them Generation Gen H for hope, that you leave them
- 30:15Speaker 30: a place they can be proud of.
- 30:18Speaker 3: And in the meantime, count your.
- 30:21Speaker 30: Lucky stars, all 50 of them, that you were born
- 30:25Speaker 30: in the USA.
- 30:32Speaker 7: I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Now,
- 30:37Speaker 7: I got in a little hometown jam.
- 30:41Speaker 10: So they put a rifle in my hand. Send it

- 50:25Speaker 28: high around 70. Norwich police responded to Sunrise Street Thursday

- 50:33Speaker 28: with a skateboard. One person suffered a head laceration and

- 50:50Speaker 28: No arrests have been made and residents are urged to

- 51:50Speaker 29: I'm Sean Murphy. When news breaks, we break in.
- 51:59Speaker 31: All right, we are back.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Steve Elsie here for the Lee Elsie Voice of Freedom Show.
- 52:11Speaker 7: And.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Joining me now is Hayward. Hayward, how are you today?
- 52:15Speaker 40: Very happy to be here, as always. I always appreciate
- 52:18Speaker 40: whatever time I can get. You know me.
- 52:20Speaker 16: Yeah, no, it's great.
- 52:21Speaker 2: And, you know, every week brings on new spoils and
- 52:29Speaker 2: new things that we can talk about. You know, off
- 52:33Speaker 2: air here, we were just talking a little bit, you know,
- 52:35Speaker 2: just kind of brainstorming things. And, you know, I asked you,
- 52:39Speaker 2: you know, what did you think of the woman... who
- 52:42Speaker 2: was at the Trump rally, who was wearing the shirt,
- 52:46Speaker 2: you know, release the Epstein files, who was punched repeatedly
- 52:51Speaker 2: in the head. What do you think of that?
- 52:54Speaker 40: Well, I'm a person who takes a pretty strong stance
- 52:58Speaker 40: about not hitting women or people generally, if you can
- 53:01Speaker 40: avoid it. So it was pretty, pretty bizarre to see.
- 53:07Speaker 40: And If you're thinking about this from a historical perspective,
- 53:11Speaker 40: history in many ways is made by photographs, videos, famous quotes.
- 53:17Speaker 40: And if history is to survive the era that we're
- 53:21Speaker 40: in now in any recognizable form, the video of Trump
- 53:26Speaker 40: supporters beating up a woman with a shirt that says,
- 53:29Speaker 40: Release the Epstein Files, while Trump mocks the person, I
- 53:35Speaker 40: can think of few things... less advantageous to their electoral goals.
- 53:39Speaker 40: I mean, that's one of those things where as soon
- 53:42Speaker 40: as you see it, you know this is going to
- 53:44Speaker 40: be in the news cycle however long that might last,
- 53:47Speaker 40: but this is going to be in campaign ads, and
- 53:49Speaker 40: that's not great.
- 53:51Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I can't under any circumstances, any,
- 53:56Speaker 2: whether it be a Democrat, a Republican, an Independent, there's
- 54:01Speaker 2: just no space anywhere in my frame of mind for
- 54:05Speaker 2: such hatred and such abuse. You know, these weren't police.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Police ultimately came, but it started out with just other protesters,
- 54:15Speaker 2: you know, just beating the living daylights out of her,
- 54:18Speaker 2: you know, because she didn't like, they didn't like what
- 54:22Speaker 2: she was saying, right? And so there's just no space
- 54:26Speaker 2: for that, no framework for that. And going into an election,
- 54:28Speaker 2: as we just talked about off air here, you know,
- 54:32Speaker 2: this is, this is the face that is being brought
- 54:35Speaker 2: forward to everyone.
- 54:37Speaker 40: Yeah, it really doesn't put them in a good spot. And,
- 54:40Speaker 40: you know, this theme that we keep getting on of
- 54:42Speaker 40: the moving of the Overton window is happening. You know,
- 54:46Speaker 40: we have seen political violence, of course, throughout our entire history.
- 54:50Speaker 40: I'm not ignorant to that.
- 54:52Speaker 2: None of it's good.
- 54:53Speaker 40: But in this televised era, especially, there are moments where
- 54:56Speaker 40: anything like that is going to be utilized ad nauseum.
- 55:02Speaker 40: And I really don't like where that's moving because I
- 55:06Speaker 40: didn't see, at least at first, anyone in the audience
- 55:10Speaker 40: even attempting to slow down what was happening.
- 55:13Speaker 2: They were chanting America. They were chanting at that point.
- 55:18Speaker 2: And you can hear it. It's all on tape, please.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Everybody just Google it.
- 55:21Speaker 40: This gets into that thing that I worry very much
- 55:23Speaker 40: about any type of political movement. You hear people use
- 55:27Speaker 40: words like cultic. I sometimes use words like idolatry. The
- 55:30Speaker 40: idea is there's this central character. and in this case,
- 55:35Speaker 40: a central character who's aware of it and will joke
- 55:37Speaker 40: about shooting someone on Fifth Avenue and they'll still love him.
- 55:41Speaker 40: He recently said something to the effect of, I can
- 55:42Speaker 40: say any stupid thing you want and you'll still love me.
- 55:45Speaker 40: To some degree, he seems to be aware that at
- 55:47Speaker 40: least a segment of his base is just so fanatically obsessed,
- 55:53Speaker 40: and that's very dangerous. That type of dynamic where any
- 55:58Speaker 40: dissent is immediately silenced or pushed out, even within his cabinet,
- 56:04Speaker 40: That is not a situation that is conducive to American-style liberties,
- 56:10Speaker 40: especially not when you allow it to play out wherever
- 56:13Speaker 40: it's going.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I, you know, and you have
- 56:19Speaker 2: that happening. And then, you know, you know, just, of course,
- 56:24Speaker 2: the week of events here. And then, of course, there's
- 56:25Speaker 2: another shooting, right?
- 56:27Speaker 40: Yeah, it's pretty close to one per day and has
- 56:30Speaker 40: been for quite some time. And I sure don't expect
- 56:34Speaker 40: it to get better as our society continues destabilizing. There
- 56:39Speaker 40: are segment upon segment worth of information I could bring
- 56:43Speaker 40: about that kind of stuff. All the online extremist movements.
- 56:47Speaker 40: There's a new political category at the counterterrorism office that
- 56:51Speaker 40: says nihilistic violent extremists, which is even just a very–
- 56:57Speaker 40: small encapsulation of a incredibly diverse category. The amount of
- 57:01Speaker 40: online derangement that's happening right now exists in basically every community, uh,
- 57:07Speaker 40: online community. I mean, every online community, there's, there's a
- 57:11Speaker 40: fringe of people that are taking whatever it is, even
- 57:14Speaker 40: if it's a fandom of a video game and turning
- 57:16Speaker 40: it into something evil.
- 57:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 57:18Speaker 40: That's not good.
- 57:20Speaker 2: No, no, it's not. you know, and I, and, uh,
- 57:25Speaker 2: you know, I, I, It's always sad to see another shooting,
- 57:30Speaker 2: just another one, and then another one. And I just
- 57:35Speaker 2: got to say this. I'm just tired of hopes and prayers.
- 57:37Speaker 2: I am. I want actions. I want actions. I want
- 57:41Speaker 2: something to be done. The two parties need to come
- 57:46Speaker 2: together to figure out a better way around this. Listen,
- 57:50Speaker 2: if they wanted to, they would.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Oh, certainly.
- 57:54Speaker 40: And I think largely it's because it just affects those people,
- 57:57Speaker 40: which is us people. It really isn't something that affects
- 58:01Speaker 40: people with several layers of security around them at all times.
- 58:05Speaker 40: So there's less of a desire, an immediate visceral feeling
- 58:10Speaker 40: for something to be made better. And one of the
- 58:13Speaker 40: reasons I think there's very little political will to do
- 58:16Speaker 40: so is because to truly address the depravity, the ever-spiraling
- 58:24Speaker 40: condition of our national psyche, it would be so much
- 58:29Speaker 40: work to do that. It would be so many questions
- 58:32Speaker 40: to say, well, why is this happening now, for example? Now, obviously,
- 58:36Speaker 40: I understand why people have, especially being a Connecticut resident,
- 58:40Speaker 40: I understand why a lot of people look at firearms
- 58:44Speaker 40: as a cause. And I look at them as a tool,
- 58:47Speaker 40: cause being deeper. Now, we, for example, have had semi-automatic
- 58:52Speaker 40: weapons for quite some time.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:53Speaker 40: But the shootings in this way, there's a variable here.
- 58:58Speaker 40: And I would argue that that variable is largely tied
- 59:01Speaker 40: to the fact that the proliferation of mass misery and
- 59:05Speaker 40: hopelessness inherently breeds that behavior.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:10Speaker 17: One of the reasons.
- 59:11Speaker 40: Why we don't do that, focus on that as a culture,
- 59:15Speaker 40: as a government, is because that would mean questioning a
- 59:18Speaker 40: lot of the things that our entire society is based
- 59:20Speaker 40: off of. Greed, exploitation, bigotry, mass wealth accumulation, stratification to
- 59:27Speaker 40: levels that haven't been seen since the French Revolution. These
- 59:31Speaker 40: are things that drive human misery. One of the things
- 59:36Speaker 40: a friend of mine said a very long time ago is,
- 59:38Speaker 40: you know, I don't think happy people are driven to
- 59:42Speaker 40: commit mass murder.
- 59:44Speaker 2: You're right.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Probably not, right?
- 59:45Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 59:46Speaker 40: And, God, that's segment upon segment worth of conversation of...
- 59:51Speaker 40: How do we get rid of this mass misery? The
- 59:54Speaker 40: loneliness epidemic or people going to computers being more and
- 59:58Speaker 40: more separated from basic human connection, which makes hurting people
- 1:00:02Speaker 40: a whole lot easier.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Video games help out in that too.
- 1:00:05Speaker 40: And this problem is so, so, so deep. And there
- 1:00:08Speaker 40: just isn't the political will to deal with it because
- 1:00:10Speaker 40: it's hard. And they'd much rather get cheap political points.
- 1:00:15Speaker 40: We live in what I call the symphony of sound bites.
- 1:00:18Speaker 40: We want these oversimplified things like, well, now there's a
- 1:00:21Speaker 40: ceasefire in Ukraine, they say. Well, did anyone consult anybody
- 1:00:25Speaker 40: on that? Volodymyr Zelensky said, this is news to me,
- 1:00:28Speaker 40: but if it's true, okay. And just that same day,
- 1:00:32Speaker 40: their infrastructure gets hit again. So a lot of these things,
- 1:00:36Speaker 40: and I get to this all the time, and to
- 1:00:38Speaker 40: anyone in the audience that might think that I am
- 1:00:41Speaker 40: beating up one side more than the other, I have said,
- 1:00:43Speaker 40: these same things regardless of who's in charge because this
- 1:00:46Speaker 40: is a part of our national trajectory. We have almost
- 1:00:50Speaker 40: at this point a scams-based society and a scams-based government.
- 1:00:56Speaker 40: So when we think about all of these talks of
- 1:00:58Speaker 40: a ceasefire happening or the Ukraine war will be ended
- 1:01:01Speaker 40: on day one and people actually believed him, that type
- 1:01:04Speaker 40: of thing is not good. And the more people believe
- 1:01:09Speaker 40: in those types of things, the more they can get
- 1:01:12Speaker 40: away with it. So when we hear the ceasefire is
- 1:01:15Speaker 40: happening or Iran's ceasefire number 30 or so, who even
- 1:01:19Speaker 40: knows at this point, I'm reminded of what happens in
- 1:01:23Speaker 40: moments like this. You have a certain percentage of the
- 1:01:27Speaker 40: population bleeding off their support because they say, oh, well,
- 1:01:31Speaker 40: everything's okay. And they go back to their admittedly very
- 1:01:34Speaker 40: difficult and challenging lives. It's a full-time job to keep
- 1:01:37Speaker 40: track of the news. But I think back to 1994. And,
- 1:01:41Speaker 40: you know, I was a kid at this point, but
- 1:01:44Speaker 40: a lot of the audience surely has much more visceral
- 1:01:46Speaker 40: memories of this than I do. And I'm thinking of
- 1:01:48Speaker 40: the siege of Sarajevo. And there was a ceasefire in 1994.
- 1:01:54Speaker 40: And people started moving around the city, including the Devovovich family.
- 1:01:59Speaker 40: And the mother, Janana, who was pregnant at the time,
- 1:02:02Speaker 40: was walking with her daughter, her son, Nermin, and going
- 1:02:06Speaker 40: to their grandmother's house because.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: They couldn't go.
- 1:02:09Speaker 40: The house was on the other side of Sniper Alley,
- 1:02:13Speaker 40: a place that we've only found out in recent years
- 1:02:15Speaker 40: was the location for the human safaris where wealthy foreigners
- 1:02:19Speaker 40: would pay to shoot at people in Sarajevo. Depravity, right?
- 1:02:24Speaker 40: So Nermin and his sister and Janana were walking through
- 1:02:31Speaker 40: to their grandparents' house, and a sniper shot them. The
- 1:02:37Speaker 40: bullet passed through Janana, through her stomach, and hit Nermeen
- 1:02:41Speaker 40: in the head. Nermeen was killed instantly. The daughter was
- 1:02:44Speaker 40: able to run away, and Janana was whisked away by
- 1:02:48Speaker 40: UN security forces at the time. As soon as the
- 1:02:50Speaker 40: shooting started, of course, everyone scattered. This was supposed to
- 1:02:52Speaker 40: be a ceasefire, and they believed it. But there are
- 1:02:56Speaker 40: no ceasefires in genocide. There are no ceasefires in atrocities.
- 1:03:02Speaker 40: And that photo was published widely, and the photographer... who
- 1:03:06Speaker 40: took it said, you cannot be neutral in moments like this.
- 1:03:11Speaker 40: There is no one neutral in Sarajevo because you see
- 1:03:15Speaker 40: what is happening and your innate human soul reacts with
- 1:03:19Speaker 40: what we were given. And even Martin Luther King said
- 1:03:24Speaker 40: things like this. I could be misattributing it, so I
- 1:03:27Speaker 40: apologize if I am, but the quote goes, If you
- 1:03:29Speaker 40: were neutral in the face of oppression or injustice, you've
- 1:03:32Speaker 40: chosen the side of the oppressor. And so many dynamics
- 1:03:37Speaker 40: like this are playing out all throughout our society, all
- 1:03:39Speaker 40: throughout the world right now. It is so frustrating. And
- 1:03:44Speaker 40: it just keeps happening, and it keeps getting worse. I'm
- 1:03:48Speaker 40: going to comment in the Facebook feed for anyone online
- 1:03:50Speaker 40: that watches Facebook that will go over that Sarajevo situation because...
- 1:03:55Speaker 40: I've been studying a lot about the Bosnian genocide recently for,
- 1:03:59Speaker 40: I don't know, no particular reason, I guess. You know,
- 1:04:02Speaker 40: no warning signs that probably, you know, anyone who's interested
- 1:04:05Speaker 40: in having a better world might want to watch out for.
- 1:04:08Speaker 40: And I just, it's so hard to believe as someone
- 1:04:14Speaker 40: who loves history, who loves people, who loves was raised
- 1:04:20Speaker 40: with these values of skepticism of your government. I mean,
- 1:04:24Speaker 40: the whole reason that flag's on the wall is because
- 1:04:26Speaker 40: some British colonists found their line, that they decided this
- 1:04:31Speaker 40: is too much to deal with. And they tried. They
- 1:04:34Speaker 40: tried petitioning authority. I mean, look at the Declaration of Independence.
- 1:04:37Speaker 40: It says in it that we've tried to reason with
- 1:04:40Speaker 40: you folks. And the Declaration of Independence wasn't really a
- 1:04:44Speaker 40: declaration of war. It was saying, we don't want to
- 1:04:46Speaker 40: be a part of you anymore. It was the British
- 1:04:47Speaker 40: who sent the troops after all. But this is history,
- 1:04:51Speaker 40: and history is playing out every single day. During my
- 1:04:55Speaker 40: speech over at Mohegan Sun, I was saying that history
- 1:04:57Speaker 40: is happening every day. You're in history right now. We
- 1:05:01Speaker 40: often think, what would we have done if we were
- 1:05:04Speaker 40: in XYZ terrible time? Every time in human history is
- 1:05:09Speaker 40: terrible in some form. And a lot of people stand aside.
- 1:05:13Speaker 40: And now with people being so busy, so overworked, fuel crisis...
- 1:05:19Speaker 40: They don't even have the conceptual real estate in their
- 1:05:22Speaker 40: head to tackle these problems. And I think that's by design.
- 1:05:28Speaker 40: And so now when we hear, look, we just agreed
- 1:05:30Speaker 40: with Russia to release these billions of gallons or tons,
- 1:05:34Speaker 40: whatever unit of measure he said. Look at all this
- 1:05:37Speaker 40: Russian oil we've released.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 1:05:40Speaker 40: Well, I wonder where that money is going. I wonder
- 1:05:43Speaker 40: why we don't have oil in large quantities to begin with.
- 1:05:47Speaker 40: That's interesting. But I don't know how many people have
- 1:05:50Speaker 40: done the math about how long that crude oil will be.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 1:05:53Speaker 17: Well, so most Americans, they hear.
- 1:05:55Speaker 40: That and they're like, oh, this will help. This will
- 1:05:56Speaker 40: help me at the pump. On the scale of America,
- 1:05:59Speaker 40: it's about nine days worth of consumption. On the global scale,
- 1:06:03Speaker 40: it's about 15 minutes.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: So do we not control the oil of Venezuela?
- 1:06:13Speaker 17: In part, yes.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: However, it's.
- 1:06:16Speaker 40: And why do we? A very interesting series of events.
- 1:06:19Speaker 40: So we have control over Venezuela's oil. However, there are
- 1:06:23Speaker 40: very few refineries that are able to bring it to standard.
- 1:06:28Speaker 40: So there's one in– I think it's in Texas– ironically
- 1:06:31Speaker 40: owned by Saudi Arabia, so I don't know how much
- 1:06:33Speaker 40: of that we'll be getting as far as profits go.
- 1:06:36Speaker 40: But the oil was hard. You can't just take a
- 1:06:39Speaker 40: territory that has very unique and difficult oil and just
- 1:06:43Speaker 40: assume it will immediately bump everything up. And it may
- 1:06:47Speaker 40: in time, and if you, not you specifically, you, the audience,
- 1:06:50Speaker 40: are comfortable with a politics that is typified by just
- 1:06:54Speaker 40: taking whatever you.
- 1:06:55Speaker 17: Want, That's your prerogative.
- 1:06:57Speaker 40: You can support that. But we also have a war
- 1:07:00Speaker 40: with Iran right now. And a lot of people talk
- 1:07:03Speaker 40: about the horrible regime in Iran. And very few people
- 1:07:07Speaker 40: will argue with that, of course, because it is a
- 1:07:10Speaker 40: very difficult regime. They just got through massacring a huge
- 1:07:13Speaker 40: percentage of the population that we left to die while
- 1:07:15Speaker 40: they were actually trying to get their freedom back. Why
- 1:07:19Speaker 40: is Iran that way? A lot of people, especially media,
- 1:07:22Speaker 40: will only go back to like, you know, them. mid-20th
- 1:07:26Speaker 40: century and not look much before that. I wonder why
- 1:07:29Speaker 40: that is. Well, in 1979, the Shah was overthrown, and
- 1:07:35Speaker 40: we had the Islamic Revolution take place, and there were
- 1:07:38Speaker 40: one of many different factions, and the fundamentalists won out,
- 1:07:42Speaker 40: and that's how we got what we have now. But
- 1:07:44Speaker 40: who were they overthrowing? They were overthrowing the Shah. Well,
- 1:07:47Speaker 40: how did the Shah get there? Oh, the Shah was
- 1:07:50Speaker 40: put in by Western interests because the Iranian people elected
- 1:07:55Speaker 40: Mohammad Mossadegh, who nationalized their oil supplies. And the Western
- 1:08:01Speaker 40: powers didn't like that very much. So they installed the Shah,
- 1:08:05Speaker 40: who put in an extremely repressive police state. Why do
- 1:08:09Speaker 40: we think Iran broadly rose up against the Shah if
- 1:08:12Speaker 40: he was so good to live underneath? And we have
- 1:08:15Speaker 40: these photos, right, of Iranian women in miniskirts in front
- 1:08:19Speaker 40: of a modern stove, Yeah, you can go in any
- 1:08:22Speaker 40: population and find the elite or the upper middle class
- 1:08:26Speaker 40: and take good photos. But that motivation to overthrow that
- 1:08:29Speaker 40: government didn't come from nowhere. So what are we doing here?
- 1:08:35Speaker 40: This selective acknowledgment of history is part of how people's
- 1:08:40Speaker 40: ignorance gets taken advantage of. So you can argue maybe
- 1:08:44Speaker 40: Iran was getting a nuclear weapon. We don't know because
- 1:08:47Speaker 40: our government fundamentally broke that trust with us with Iraq.
- 1:08:51Speaker 40: So even if they're right, who can even actually believe them?
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We don't know.
- 1:08:57Speaker 17: We don't know.
- 1:08:57Speaker 40: And so how can we trust our government at this?
- 1:09:00Speaker 40: this point when they have a proven track record of
- 1:09:02Speaker 40: getting involved in wars in the Middle East and seizing resources,
- 1:09:05Speaker 40: much to the detriment of the entire region, and creating
- 1:09:09Speaker 40: God knows what consequences down the line? We wouldn't have
- 1:09:12Speaker 40: the Iran we had now if we didn't forcibly remove
- 1:09:17Speaker 40: the person they democratically elected. And then set in a
- 1:09:20Speaker 40: series of events creating the extremist, potentially nuclear-armed adversary we
- 1:09:24Speaker 40: have today.
- 1:09:27Speaker 17: We don't talk about it.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: No, no. And that sort of depth of knowledge is
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: difficult for– For most people to understand, right? So what
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: they want to hear is what you said before, is
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: the sound bites, the symphony of sound bites, I think
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: you called it, right?
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: I did.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: And that was anything but a symphony of sound bites, right?
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: But that is the real part of history. And what
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: they want to hear is Iran's bad and they just
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: want to kill us all. That's the sound bite they hear.
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: And but nobody knows why. And that's and that's part
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: of it.
- 1:10:00Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:10:00Speaker 17: And, you know, we live in the world we live in.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:10:03Speaker 17: They hate us now.
- 1:10:04Speaker 40: They're they're sponsoring terrorism all over the world. They are
- 1:10:09Speaker 40: in large part an adversary to our geopolitical interests. But
- 1:10:13Speaker 40: when we ask why that happened and the extremism that
- 1:10:17Speaker 40: outflowed from it, why did that happen? then we start
- 1:10:21Speaker 40: to think, well, maybe we can prevent this in the future.
- 1:10:24Speaker 40: Maybe we can stop stepping on rakes left, right, and
- 1:10:26Speaker 40: center and actually try to have a more conscientious approach.
- 1:10:30Speaker 40: And we used to do this to some degree. But
- 1:10:33Speaker 40: due to the large-scale, I talked about it before, the
- 1:10:36Speaker 40: assassination of the American intellect, you have people that are overworked, exhausted.
- 1:10:41Speaker 40: They go to schools that, despite the best efforts of
- 1:10:43Speaker 40: the teachers, are really just in such an unfair position
- 1:10:47Speaker 40: to educate the population. And I homeschool my kids for
- 1:10:51Speaker 40: a number of reasons, but also I tend not to
- 1:10:54Speaker 40: trust a government-funded school to teach my children all the
- 1:10:59Speaker 40: information that they need to navigate the world in a
- 1:11:01Speaker 40: truly honest way. I tend not to believe that's very likely.
- 1:11:06Speaker 40: And a lot of my friends that I talk to,
- 1:11:07Speaker 40: even people that I hire, they say, oh, I've never
- 1:11:10Speaker 40: heard any of this stuff. That's by design.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:15Speaker 26: By design, you know, These wars, you know, it's a petrodollar, right?
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Is that the new standard? Is that what we're fighting
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: for these days, really?
- 1:11:29Speaker 40: Well, if your entire society and your entire world economy
- 1:11:32Speaker 40: is based off of a finite resource that you pathologically
- 1:11:35Speaker 40: refuse to develop alternatives for, you are eventually going to
- 1:11:39Speaker 40: reach a point where that resource is less plentiful. And
- 1:11:42Speaker 40: if your entire culture is based off of seizing that
- 1:11:45Speaker 40: resource by any means necessary... you are going to have conflict.
- 1:11:50Speaker 40: And as things get even worse and as pollution gets worse,
- 1:11:53Speaker 40: as microplastics gets worse.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Islands of plastics.
- 1:11:58Speaker 33: Right.
- 1:11:58Speaker 40: And so you're going to have a situation where water
- 1:12:01Speaker 40: becomes more and more of a commodity, and it already is.
- 1:12:05Speaker 40: You're seeing a situation where even clean air is becoming
- 1:12:08Speaker 40: harder and harder to find. And there are corporations already
- 1:12:12Speaker 40: trying to commodify the air the water, everything possible. And
- 1:12:17Speaker 40: if you rewind the clock, you get to a point
- 1:12:19Speaker 40: where land itself wasn't commodified in that same way. And
- 1:12:24Speaker 40: it's a process called enclosure. It's how we have our
- 1:12:27Speaker 40: economic system today. If we ask ourselves, how did we
- 1:12:31Speaker 40: get people who had most of the year off because
- 1:12:34Speaker 40: it wasn't the growing season and lived off of largely
- 1:12:38Speaker 40: collectively owned land, and I use that term carefully because
- 1:12:41Speaker 40: it has a lot of connotations, but There was land
- 1:12:44Speaker 40: that was owned in common, and that was the norm
- 1:12:46Speaker 40: throughout the world until only a few hundred years ago.
- 1:12:50Speaker 40: And how do you get those people who live off
- 1:12:52Speaker 40: the land to go into a factory to work 10
- 1:12:55Speaker 40: hours a day, 365 days a year?
- 1:12:58Speaker 17: How do you get them to do that?
- 1:12:59Speaker 40: How do you get them to have their children get
- 1:13:01Speaker 40: their scalps ripped off in industrial machinery? Well, you do
- 1:13:05Speaker 40: that by saying you can't have the land anymore. And
- 1:13:07Speaker 40: that was the process of enclosure. It first happened in England,
- 1:13:10Speaker 40: and then it metastasized to the rest of Europe and
- 1:13:13Speaker 40: the rest of the world. And it's an unfolding process.
- 1:13:16Speaker 40: The enclosure of land happened a very long time ago.
- 1:13:18Speaker 40: But you create a situation where you've severed the access
- 1:13:22Speaker 40: to land of the peoples. They then had to get
- 1:13:25Speaker 40: food somehow. Well, how do they get food? Well, they
- 1:13:26Speaker 40: have to pay money. Well, how do they get money?
- 1:13:28Speaker 40: They go into the factory. If they decide to live
- 1:13:30Speaker 40: in the woods, they get charged with the crime of vagabondage.
- 1:13:33Speaker 40: And upon their second offense, they were put to death.
- 1:13:37Speaker 40: So it was pretty easy for England to be brought
- 1:13:39Speaker 40: to heel. And that same thing happened all throughout Europe.
- 1:13:43Speaker 40: It happened all throughout the Americas. It happened all over
- 1:13:45Speaker 40: the place. It is incredibly frustrating, and it's an unfolding
- 1:13:48Speaker 40: process that has not stopped, and it won't stop until
- 1:13:51Speaker 40: someone stops it.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Hayward Gatch here just giving us a history lesson every week,
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: and I fully appreciate you and appreciate all the knowledge
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: you bring to the conversation. We'll be back next with Boots.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: Good night.
- 1:14:15Speaker 17: Traffic Alerts on 94.9 News Now.
- 1:14:19Speaker 13: Any slime road construction, I-95 northbound exit 73 to 75.

- 1:22:19Speaker 14: oh how the tables have turned because last night it
- 1:22:21Speaker 14: was the brewers turn to break out the brooms and
- 1:22:24Speaker 14: send those billionaire Dodgers back to LA.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: And it didn't matter that Milwaukee had.
- 1:22:29Speaker 14: To come from behind in every game of this series
- 1:22:31Speaker 14: to do it. This Brewers team was ready for this.
- 1:22:34Speaker 14: And now they get to hoist their first National.

- 1:22:37Speaker 9: 44 years.
- 1:22:40Speaker 14: Milwaukee baseball fans have been waiting to get back to

- 1:22:47Speaker 2: That they've been there.
- 1:22:48Speaker 14: And honestly, with the way this team's playing right now,

- 1:23:03Speaker 4: Good morning, I'm Sean Murphy.
- 1:23:05Speaker 28: Clouds rained today with a high around 70. Norwich police
- 1:23:08Speaker 28: responded to Sunrise Street Thursday evening after an Uber driver
- 1:23:12Speaker 28: reported being followed and assaulted with a skateboard. One person
- 1:23:16Speaker 28: suffered a head laceration and officers separated those involved. Legend
- 1:23:20Speaker 28: police warned thieves are using devices to steal cars by
- 1:23:23Speaker 28: extending key fob signals. Two vehicles stolen near Cartridge Trail
- 1:23:29Speaker 28: were later recovered in New Haven. No arrests have been
- 1:23:32Speaker 28: made and residents are urged to secure their vehicles and
- 1:23:35Speaker 28: key fobs. Plainfield police arrested 33-year-old Jack Hennell Hawkins of
- 1:23:40Speaker 28: Florida for allegedly impersonating a high school employee to change
- 1:23:45Speaker 28: direct deposit information. Hawkins was extradited to Connecticut on October
- 1:23:50Speaker 28: 14th and charged with identity theft and attempted larceny. He

- 1:23:58Speaker 28: Kings protests are planned across Connecticut Saturday, October 17th. Organizers
- 1:24:03Speaker 28: say the demonstrations oppose Trump administration policies and encourage voter

- 1:25:22Speaker 10: You keep saying you've got something for me.
- 1:25:27Speaker 49: Something you call love but confess.
- 1:25:33Speaker 42: You've been a mess where you shouldn't have been a mess.
- 1:25:38Speaker 7: And now someone.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: Else is getting all your best.
- 1:25:44Speaker 17: These boots are made for walking.
- 1:25:47Speaker 24: And that's just what they do.
- 1:25:50Speaker 42: One of these days, these boots are going to walk
- 1:25:53Speaker 42: all over you.
- 1:25:55Speaker 17: United States Congressman turned political analyst. It's time for John Laboutelier.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: All right, we are back. Steve Elsie here, sitting in
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: for the Voice of Freedom. Lee Elsie ends with me
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: again on Friday. I appreciate it every week. John Laboutelier, a.k.a.
- 1:26:12Speaker 7: Boots.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: How are you, John?
- 1:26:14Speaker 43: Steve, good morning. I'm doing okay, man. It's a rainy
- 1:26:17Speaker 43: day here. I guess you're going to get the rain also,
- 1:26:20Speaker 43: I guess.
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:26:22Speaker 43: Then we're getting some cold weather after a little bit
- 1:26:24Speaker 43: of an Indian summer midweek this week.
- 1:26:26Speaker 31: Yeah.
- 1:26:27Speaker 24: Yeah.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: It's definitely, uh, going to drop this weekend. There's lots of, uh,
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: you know, rallies this weekend, which I'll be at and
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: performing at. And, uh, and they say the weather is
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: not just going to be cold, but windy, you know,
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: which kind of can. Yeah.
- 1:26:40Speaker 43: No Kings, uh, tomorrow, I think is having.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:26:43Speaker 43: It's no last demonstrations before the midterm.
- 1:26:46Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: It's, uh, no Kings. And I'll be part of part
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: of that here locally, but, uh, The weather's going to
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: be tough, you know, as you said, with big winds
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: and a lot of speaker equipment and so forth. It
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: could be dangerous. So we'll do our best. We'll do
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: our best for sure.
- 1:27:02Speaker 43: I think they'll be nationwide. I think they're going to
- 1:27:06Speaker 43: be very large turnout because it dovetails with early voting
- 1:27:11Speaker 43: and people getting ready to vote. If you don't do
- 1:27:14Speaker 43: early voting, getting ready to vote on Election Day. And
- 1:27:17Speaker 43: we already know. that in five or six states that
- 1:27:21Speaker 43: have already begun receiving mail-in ballots, that compared to two
- 1:27:27Speaker 43: years ago, Detroit, state of Virginia, compared to one year ago,
- 1:27:32Speaker 43: has doubled the amount of people who have voted already.
- 1:27:36Speaker 7: Oh, wow.
- 1:27:37Speaker 43: And that is an indicator. Now, it's a small indicator,
- 1:27:40Speaker 43: but it's another one. Along with the crowds at No
- 1:27:44Speaker 43: Kings throughout the year and along with the polling, Mm-hmm.
- 1:27:48Speaker 43: That there's huge energy for the Democrats to come out
- 1:27:50Speaker 43: and vote and a depressed turnout by Republicans because they're
- 1:27:55Speaker 43: turned off by gas prices, the economy, all this stuff.
- 1:28:00Speaker 43: And unlike other times when we've had midterms that go
- 1:28:05Speaker 43: against a party that's in power, this time it's really
- 1:28:09Speaker 43: against Trump. It's going to be against the Republicans because
- 1:28:13Speaker 43: Trump's not on the ballot, but the polling shows that.
- 1:28:17Speaker 43: The public blames Trump. And why wouldn't they? He put
- 1:28:22Speaker 43: the tariffs on. He started the war in Iran. He's
- 1:28:26Speaker 43: the one running around saying crazy stuff every day. And
- 1:28:30Speaker 43: he's not fixing the problem that he said he was
- 1:28:32Speaker 43: going to fix. So the blame is on him, whether
- 1:28:35Speaker 43: he likes it or not. Now, I noticed today he's
- 1:28:38Speaker 43: already preparing who to blame for losing in the election.
- 1:28:44Speaker 43: He's going to blame Karl Rove and John Cornyn for
- 1:28:48Speaker 43: losing the Senate seat in Texas. What those guys had
- 1:28:52Speaker 43: to do with it, I don't know. It was Trump
- 1:28:55Speaker 43: who favored Paxton. And he's going to probably blame Zelensky
- 1:29:03Speaker 43: for the bad prices of oil, even though it's the
- 1:29:07Speaker 43: war that Trump started in Iran that jacked up oil prices.
- 1:29:12Speaker 43: And he might blame Hegseth, too. There's some feeling that
- 1:29:16Speaker 43: Hegseth may get the ax after the midterms. He may
- 1:29:20Speaker 43: blame Iran on him, too.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's everybody but him, right?
- 1:29:27Speaker 43: Everybody but him.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: That seems to be how this rolls, right? What does
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: he say? He alone can fix the problem, and then
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: when the problem isn't fixed, it's everybody else's fault.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:29:42Speaker 43: When, in fact, only I can fix it. He has
- 1:29:46Speaker 43: created these problems. We didn't have to have these tariffs.
- 1:29:49Speaker 43: We didn't have to have the war. The economy, when
- 1:29:52Speaker 43: he took over, was on the upswing, and Inflation was
- 1:29:56Speaker 43: at three and dropping. The smartest move for him would
- 1:30:01Speaker 43: have been to leave it alone, take credit for it, sure,
- 1:30:05Speaker 43: but let it keep improving. After all, we were rebounding
- 1:30:09Speaker 43: from two years of COVID displacement.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:30:13Speaker 43: He comes in, and within three months, we have that
- 1:30:16Speaker 43: ridiculous Independence Day where willy-nilly he makes up numbers and
- 1:30:21Speaker 43: puts tariffs on everybody, and that is ridiculous. then the
- 1:30:26Speaker 43: initial reason for inflation to go back up, and then,
- 1:30:29Speaker 43: of course, the war, which was really unnecessary and very unpopular.
- 1:30:34Speaker 43: And by the way, while all that's going on, that's
- 1:30:36Speaker 43: governmental policy. While that's going on, what gets the headlines
- 1:30:42Speaker 43: every day? The ballroom, the Kennedy Center, his stock trades, him, him, him,
- 1:30:49Speaker 43: his money, Donald Trump Jr. 's wedding paid by a
- 1:30:53Speaker 43: Russian oligarch. Kimberly Guilfoyle getting her Amex bill paid by
- 1:30:58Speaker 43: some guy. I mean, this is the worst political messaging
- 1:31:03Speaker 43: by a political party I've ever seen. It is not
- 1:31:07Speaker 43: even close. And you see in the new Fox poll,
- 1:31:11Speaker 43: the number one issue, 88% say number one thing is corruption. And,
- 1:31:20Speaker 43: you know... It's on Trump. All this is on Trump.
- 1:31:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: You know, and I don't know if you saw the
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: other day, the protester at the Trump rally, you know,
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: essentially with the shirt that says, you know, release the
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: Epstein files, which is what Trump was supposed to do.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: And then she just gets the, you know, the lights
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: just beat out of her. I mean, like, that's the
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: look we have going into the election. It's like, how...
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: How is that even possible? I don't understand it. I
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: don't get it.
- 1:31:54Speaker 43: I just don't get it. I get it, because what's
- 1:31:58Speaker 43: happened is, through a confluence of events, Donald Trump has
- 1:32:04Speaker 43: complete and utter control of the Republican Party. Absolutely. You
- 1:32:09Speaker 43: don't go along with him, you don't have a role.
- 1:32:13Speaker 43: You don't have a nomination. You don't get funding.
- 1:32:15Speaker 41: Nothing.
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 1:32:17Speaker 43: He has a party that does only and exactly what
- 1:32:20Speaker 43: he wants them to do. And on his staff, no
- 1:32:24Speaker 43: one can come into the Oval Office and disagree with him,
- 1:32:28Speaker 43: push back on him, because you won't be in the
- 1:32:30Speaker 43: Oval Office ever again. So he's surrounded by yes people
- 1:32:35Speaker 43: who tell him what he wants to hear, and he's
- 1:32:38Speaker 43: got a political party that just does whatever he wants.
- 1:32:41Speaker 43: The result of that is his bad judgments. And let's
- 1:32:46Speaker 43: be frank. Every one of us makes mistakes. We decide
- 1:32:51Speaker 43: something today and a week from today we go, you know,
- 1:32:54Speaker 43: I think if I could do it again, I wouldn't
- 1:32:56Speaker 43: have made that decision. That's human. No problem. But in
- 1:32:59Speaker 43: the Donald Trump world, when he makes these decisions, he
- 1:33:02Speaker 43: sticks with them. And they're tragic. He didn't listen to
- 1:33:07Speaker 43: people who knew what they were talking about. And they
- 1:33:11Speaker 43: weren't even allowed in the room. No one was in
- 1:33:14Speaker 43: the Situation Room in February telling them, don't do this war.
- 1:33:18Speaker 43: Here's what's going to happen. He had eliminated those people
- 1:33:21Speaker 43: over time. They weren't allowed to be around him.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, this is, you know, again, I think
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: you said it before, like this really didn't have to,
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: he had so many off-ramps, right? So many off-ramps to
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: kind of bring it to kind of bring it around circle.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: Even with the war, he could have got out of it.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: He could have done things a lot different. It just seems,
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: you know, if I'm looking at this, it just seems
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: like every worst idea he's doing. And that's just me.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:33:58Speaker 43: If you wanted to write a script of how a
- 1:34:03Speaker 43: president could sabotage his own party's election, you couldn't write
- 1:34:09Speaker 43: one more accurate than what he's doing. Because we even
- 1:34:14Speaker 43: know that where he goes to campaign, what he does
- 1:34:17Speaker 43: at these rallies is not helping. The places aren't even
- 1:34:21Speaker 43: full anymore. People are walking out during the speech. And
- 1:34:25Speaker 43: then what he actually says is not an argument on,
- 1:34:30Speaker 43: for instance, if the top thing is inflation and affordability,
- 1:34:33Speaker 43: which it is.
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: It's huge, isn't it?
- 1:34:37Speaker 43: What does he do? He comes out and says, oh,
- 1:34:39Speaker 43: this whole affordability thing is a hoax. It's a hoax. Okay,
- 1:34:44Speaker 43: so what you're there to talk about, you're trashing. Instead,
- 1:34:48Speaker 43: you're talking about the physique of a man senator, a
- 1:34:54Speaker 43: male senator. You're talking about his rear end in gross
- 1:34:58Speaker 43: graphic terms. How does that help anybody get elected? Or
- 1:35:04Speaker 43: how does it help? What it does is it helps
- 1:35:06Speaker 43: the voters decide, we've got to change things here.
- 1:35:10Speaker 57: And, you know.
- 1:35:11Speaker 43: You see now interviews with people who voted for Trump
- 1:35:14Speaker 43: three times and now say they regret it and they're
- 1:35:17Speaker 43: going to vote Democrat this year. There are not many
- 1:35:20Speaker 43: of them, but there are some of them. And that's
- 1:35:22Speaker 43: a huge change.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: Yeah, John, I have a question here from a listener.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: I think we have a call in, right? Is that
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: what it is? All right, so let's go to that
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: and see what's going on.
- 1:35:32Speaker 12: Here's a question from Wally in Old Sabre.
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: Well, he wants to ask John. Now it looks like
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: we have some technical difficulty, John, so that's not going
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: to happen. One of the something happens, so we'll just
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: continue on. So I apologize there. So, you know, what
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: about this oil, the oil part happening with Putin and Trump?
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: How does that, how is that faring?
- 1:35:56Speaker 43: Well, that thing happened a week ago today. I think
- 1:35:59Speaker 43: it went over like a lead balloon, but we're, breaking
- 1:36:02Speaker 43: the law, because we just had a sanctions bill passed
- 1:36:06Speaker 43: by the House and Senate, signed by Trump, putting new
- 1:36:09Speaker 43: sanctions on Russian oil. And what does Trump do last Friday?
- 1:36:14Speaker 43: He announces lifting sanctions on Russian diesel, which means a
- 1:36:21Speaker 43: ton of money goes into Putin's pocket, which he could
- 1:36:24Speaker 43: use militarily in Ukraine against our ally. It's a bad look.
- 1:36:33Speaker 43: It's a bad move. It's not going to make any
- 1:36:35Speaker 43: difference to oil prices, diesel prices in America. But it
- 1:36:39Speaker 43: shows where Trump goes when he needs help. Picks up
- 1:36:42Speaker 43: the hotline and calls the Kremlin.
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:36:46Speaker 43: I just think it's a bad move. Then you add
- 1:36:48Speaker 43: this thing this week where for one day and night,
- 1:36:55Speaker 43: Trump and the White House stopped Ukraine from receiving aid.
- 1:37:00Speaker 43: intelligence information from the Starlink satellite system that is used
- 1:37:07Speaker 43: to track incoming missiles into Kiev and all of Ukraine,
- 1:37:13Speaker 43: and they can then shoot them down. For 24 hours,
- 1:37:16Speaker 43: Trump turned it off, and they were naked. A lot
- 1:37:21Speaker 43: of missiles got through, and a lot of people died.
- 1:37:24Speaker 9: Wow.
- 1:37:24Speaker 43: There was a lot of protest. They put it back on.
- 1:37:27Speaker 43: Zelensky correctly filed. got angry about it, said, okay, fine,
- 1:37:33Speaker 43: we're going to hit more Russian refineries, and they started
- 1:37:36Speaker 43: doing that. And the Zelensky-Trump feud is back on, and
- 1:37:42Speaker 43: it's not Zelensky's fault. It's Trump's fault. And Trump is
- 1:37:47Speaker 43: not being an ally of Ukraine. He's never said he was,
- 1:37:50Speaker 43: by the way. He tried to be an intermediary. Well,
- 1:37:55Speaker 43: you can't be an intermediary if you favor one side
- 1:37:58Speaker 43: over the other. And he clearly favors Putin and Russia
- 1:38:03Speaker 43: in the war in Ukraine. He even said the other
- 1:38:05Speaker 43: day on the White House, on the way to the helipad,
- 1:38:09Speaker 43: Zelensky's horrible, they need to get a new leader. That's
- 1:38:13Speaker 43: just ridiculous.
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: So to take Starlink down, though, you'd have to go
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: through Elon Musk. Is that how that works?
- 1:38:19Speaker 43: Yeah, Musk said he'd do whatever Trump told him.
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:38:23Speaker 43: So the new reporting today is the order didn't come
- 1:38:26Speaker 43: from Musk. It came, this is a news report today.
- 1:38:30Speaker 24: Okay.
- 1:38:30Speaker 43: The order to shut it down, quote, came from inside
- 1:38:35Speaker 43: the White House, unquote. So a White House spokesman overnight
- 1:38:40Speaker 43: said Trump didn't make the decision. So either somebody's lying
- 1:38:46Speaker 43: or somebody else in the White House other than Trump
- 1:38:49Speaker 43: told Musk to shut the thing down.
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so, wow. And, you know, Elon Musk now has,
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: you know, if that's the case, allowed for this to happen,
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: to shut Starlink down, you know, obviously hurting, killing, you know,
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: lots of folks. And he himself is settling with fraud
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: charges with the last election, right? I mean, he's got
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: his own problems legally as president, as he was doing
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: illegal things to kind of inspire votes.
- 1:39:21Speaker 43: In Wisconsin.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: In Wisconsin, yeah.
- 1:39:23Speaker 43: Paying voters. He offered to pay voters to vote Republican,
- 1:39:28Speaker 43: which he can't do. It's no big deal. He'll get
- 1:39:31Speaker 43: away with it. If I were him, though, I would
- 1:39:33Speaker 43: increase my security detail, because put yourself in Ukraine, and
- 1:39:42Speaker 43: if this Starlink thing, and apparently it's back up and
- 1:39:45Speaker 43: running and protecting Ukraine, Ukraine after one day, so that's good.
- 1:39:52Speaker 43: But a lot of people died, and he could do
- 1:39:54Speaker 43: it again. If I were the Ukrainian intelligence, I'm in
- 1:40:02Speaker 43: the middle of a war where my survival is at stake.
- 1:40:06Speaker 43: I have to have as an option that we're going
- 1:40:09Speaker 43: to take Musk out, that he's an enemy of our country.
- 1:40:13Speaker 43: He killed Ukrainians by force. breaking the agreement we have
- 1:40:18Speaker 43: with them to use this Starlink defense system. And if
- 1:40:22Speaker 43: he's going to go and favor Putin, he's an enemy
- 1:40:25Speaker 43: of Ukraine.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:40:27Speaker 43: And I think that I'm sure they're thinking that way.
- 1:40:31Speaker 43: And these guys are tough and they're not going to
- 1:40:33Speaker 43: take it. Their country's survival is at stake. Children are
- 1:40:38Speaker 43: being killed every night by Putin. They will do whatever
- 1:40:43Speaker 43: they have to do. to protect their country.
- 1:40:47Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: Is there any way out of that war? I mean,
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: you know, we hear about the Iran war here and
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: everything that we're doing there, but this other war, this
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: Ukraine-Russian war, we just hear missiles flying everywhere. Is it
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: coming to an end? Is there any end in sight
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: with this?
- 1:41:07Speaker 43: Well, by the way, if we wanted it to end
- 1:41:09Speaker 43: the way we want it to end, which is Ukraine
- 1:41:12Speaker 43: to survive and maintain sovereignty, we ought to be helping them. See,
- 1:41:17Speaker 43: we have them under Biden. And then the minute Trump
- 1:41:20Speaker 43: got in, he cut back on the help, although he
- 1:41:23Speaker 43: kept it going for a while. Now, lately, he's scaling
- 1:41:26Speaker 43: it back because Russia's doing so badly that Putin obviously
- 1:41:32Speaker 43: convinced Trump, look, cut off your aid to Ukraine, like
- 1:41:36Speaker 43: the Starling thing, and we can maybe rally and take Ukraine.
- 1:41:41Speaker 43: If we want Ukraine to win, we need to resume
- 1:41:43Speaker 43: helping them and selling them stuff. We don't have to
- 1:41:47Speaker 43: give it to them. We can sell it to them.
- 1:41:50Speaker 43: Problem is, a lot of the stuff they need, we
- 1:41:52Speaker 43: blew it in Iran. Hegseth and Trump mismanaged our weapons
- 1:41:58Speaker 43: stocks and used them all up in the Iran war
- 1:42:02Speaker 43: over the last six months. So we're low on the
- 1:42:05Speaker 43: very same stuff like anti-missile defense that Ukraine needs. The
- 1:42:11Speaker 43: Ukrainians are way ahead offensively on drone technology that they're
- 1:42:16Speaker 43: using to blow the hell out of Russia. And they're
- 1:42:18Speaker 43: not just hitting military targets and airfields. They're hitting oil refineries, pipelines.
- 1:42:24Speaker 43: In Russia, they've also been hitting their version of Amazon, which,
- 1:42:31Speaker 43: believe it or not, the Russian military uses Amazon to
- 1:42:34Speaker 43: move spare parts, ammunition, military stuff. They move it on their,
- 1:42:42Speaker 43: I think it's called Blackberries, I think.
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:42:45Speaker 43: Some name like that. And they, just like Amazon, they
- 1:42:49Speaker 43: have their own airplanes. They have big warehouses all over Russia.
- 1:42:54Speaker 43: And Ukraine has been blowing those up because it disrupts
- 1:42:58Speaker 43: the flow of equipment to the front. So they're doing
- 1:43:03Speaker 43: a great job on that. It's the missile defense around
- 1:43:06Speaker 43: Kiev that is... hurt because of the Starlink thing and
- 1:43:10Speaker 43: because we aren't giving them Tomahawk missiles, Patriot defense systems,
- 1:43:16Speaker 43: and Europe is stepping up and they're buying some of
- 1:43:19Speaker 43: the stuff they're building their own. If Ukraine can survive, Steve,
- 1:43:24Speaker 43: another year or so, they have built their own defense
- 1:43:29Speaker 43: infrastructure to manufacture their own weapons. There's nothing more they
- 1:43:35Speaker 43: want than to thumb their nose at Donald Trump and say,
- 1:43:40Speaker 43: screw you, we don't need you anymore. And they're headed
- 1:43:44Speaker 43: in that direction, because he's insulted Zelensky and the Ukrainian people.
- 1:43:49Speaker 43: And he's, let's face it, by turning off that Starlink thing,
- 1:43:53Speaker 43: Trump has blood on his hands. He helped Putin kill Ukrainians.
- 1:43:59Speaker 43: How does that make any sense, you know?
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: I mean, you turn Starlink off, you pay Putin for oil,
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: you try to give Ukraine– it's like we're trying to–
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: it's like we're helping both sides. I don't understand. I
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: don't know why we're helping Russia at all.
- 1:44:14Speaker 43: Well, I think we're helping Russia more than we're helping Ukraine.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: You're probably right. You are probably right there.
- 1:44:20Speaker 41: Yep.
- 1:44:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: Yeah. So anyway, Boots, John, thank you so much again.

- 1:47:37Speaker 48: Fox's Chandlee Painter, the 16-year-old shot and killed three students,

- 1:48:21Speaker 59: I think we're getting a lot of people elected and
- 1:48:24Speaker 59: we have. Some quite a few stops to make. The
- 1:48:28Speaker 59: crowds are unbelievable.

- 1:50:26Speaker 25: Sundays on 94.9. Guys, why do taxes get overlooked in
- 1:50:31Speaker 25: retirement planning?
- 1:50:32Speaker 60: Because the tax code is so complicated. You look at it,
- 1:50:35Speaker 60: the 401k is pre-tax money. The Roth is tax-free. Your
- 1:50:38Speaker 60: non-retirement accounts are capital gains, dividends, and interest. Your Social
- 1:50:41Speaker 60: Security is taxed by provisional income. I'm giving you all
- 1:50:43Speaker 60: these things and you're probably already confused. That's why you
- 1:50:46Speaker 60: want to build out that two-month retirement checkup to see short, first,
- 1:50:49Speaker 60: long-term effects on these type of things.
- 1:50:51Speaker 16: Because you never know.
- 1:50:53Speaker 60: You might have been saving well in those 401ks, and
- 1:50:55Speaker 60: you might have a required minimum distribution issue at 73
- 1:50:58Speaker 60: or 75, depending on your birth. So you really don't
- 1:51:01Speaker 60: want to look at it just on a one-year basis. Oh, yeah,
- 1:51:04Speaker 60: I'm going to do a Roth conversion this year. It's
- 1:51:05Speaker 60: going to take care of everything.
- 1:51:07Speaker 8: No.
- 1:51:07Speaker 60: Planning takes year over year on tax planning. You can't
- 1:51:10Speaker 60: just do it in one year.
- 1:51:11Speaker 61: Yeah, and one of the biggest things that we did
- 1:51:13Speaker 61: find with tax planning is especially for our listeners was
- 1:51:16Speaker 61: that it has to be done over multiple years to
- 1:51:19Speaker 61: actually gain an advantage. So it's not that simple where
- 1:51:21Speaker 61: you just make one change in one year. A lot
- 1:51:24Speaker 61: of times it's the planning piece of it. And when
- 1:51:26Speaker 61: we do our two-month financial retirement checkup, it actually looks
- 1:51:28Speaker 61: like a big spreadsheet. And it shows the numbers over
- 1:51:31Speaker 61: a whole bunch of years. We like to go out 24,
- 1:51:33Speaker 61: even 30 years at times when we're projecting out. Because
- 1:51:36Speaker 61: if we can pick up on some of these tax
- 1:51:38Speaker 61: things and then start to implement strategies, then what we
- 1:51:41Speaker 61: can do is put in front of you, the listeners,
- 1:51:43Speaker 61: we can put in front of them where they would
- 1:51:44Speaker 61: save money in taxes and how much over time. So
- 1:51:47Speaker 61: it starts with that Tumalo Financial Retirement Checkup, our number, 860-854-3434.

- 1:52:59Speaker 28: Florida for allegedly impersonating a high school employee to change

- 1:53:10Speaker 28: 14th and charged with identity theft and attempted larceny. He
- 1:53:14Speaker 28: was held on a $ 5, 000 bond. Rhode Island's T.F. Green

- 1:54:02Speaker 17: Billion years in an epic battle of right versus wrong
- 1:54:06Speaker 17: and good versus evil. Today, we spend the next hour
- 1:54:12Speaker 17: allowing those who go by the name of Tree Hugger, Democrat, Pinko, Lefty,
- 1:54:19Speaker 17: Kool-Aid Drinker, or the Liberal Mafia go toe-to-toe with the
- 1:54:24Speaker 17: people on the right. Lock your doors and get ready for.
- 1:54:29Speaker 16: The Liberal Invasion.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: Wow, that is quite the intro. I'm here with Lady Mo.
- 1:54:41Speaker 12: Hey, engineer, you never turn me up.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: You know, Lady Mo, I have gotten a lot of
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: feedback on our recent segments that involved energy, that involved astrology.
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: Yeah, good, I hope.
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: And so, can we talk more about that today?
- 1:55:00Speaker 12: We can.
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: Because I have a surprise guest coming on right now.
- 1:55:03Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: And let's bring her in. This is Jessica from– Jessica,
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: the astrology lady.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: Hey, girl.
- 1:55:10Speaker 12: Hey.
- 1:55:11Speaker 22: Hi, guys.
- 1:55:12Speaker 60: How are you?
- 1:55:13Speaker 12: Good morning.
- 1:55:14Speaker 17: Good morning.
- 1:55:15Speaker 43: We're good.
- 1:55:16Speaker 12: It's been a great show so far.
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Great show so far and, and happy to have you, Jessica.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: Goodness gracious, of course, uh, is, is your, uh, company. Um, and, uh,
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: you know, I've been, you know, when you're on the
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: street that people love the shows and they always love
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: this segment, this energy segment, and they love sort of the,
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: the vibe that everything has, uh, between us all. Uh,
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: but anyway, what's going on in your worlds guys?
- 1:55:40Speaker 12: Well, I, uh, I do want to be the antidote
- 1:55:45Speaker 12: here a little bit. It's been a tough set of
- 1:55:48Speaker 12: guests and heavy, heavy discussion. I know 94.9 listeners get
- 1:55:55Speaker 12: a broad spectrum of perspectives. That's the one thing that
- 1:56:02Speaker 12: we're all here for. That energy I want to harness.
- 1:56:07Speaker 12: There is a little bit of that I want to
- 1:56:15Speaker 12: sprinkle into the discussion today.
- 1:56:17Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:56:18Speaker 12: The state of affairs, right? You guys have been talking
- 1:56:23Speaker 12: all morning. You've been talking with Hayward, Boots, just the
- 1:56:27Speaker 12: state of misery that everybody is in. On my way here,
- 1:56:32Speaker 12: I drove behind several people who.
- 1:56:38Speaker 12: Were inconsistently driving around the road, not following the speed limit,
- 1:56:46Speaker 12: either above or below, completely distracted. I have no idea
- 1:56:51Speaker 12: what was going on in the cars in front of me,
- 1:56:54Speaker 12: but every day I feel like there's this zombification of
- 1:57:02Speaker 12: our nation.
- 1:57:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:57:04Speaker 12: And I can't look away.
- 1:57:06Speaker 16: I can't.
- 1:57:07Speaker 30: Yeah.
- 1:57:10Speaker 12: I'm over the school shootings. I'm over all of it.
- 1:57:17Speaker 12: And it's affecting every single facet of life. We need
- 1:57:25Speaker 12: to really come together. We really need to do better. Everyone, everyone,
- 1:57:30Speaker 12: every single day. So that's all I'm going to say
- 1:57:34Speaker 12: on that.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: Yeah, no.
- 1:57:36Speaker 12: But exciting things.
- 1:57:37Speaker 43: Yeah.
- 1:57:39Speaker 57: Excuse me. As within, without, right. So whatever's going on
- 1:57:44Speaker 57: in our internal world is being reflected outwardly. And while
- 1:57:48Speaker 57: we may not be calling their shots on bombings and
- 1:57:51Speaker 57: stuff worldwide, um, I think collectively everybody's lives are up in,
- 1:57:56Speaker 57: in heat up upheaval right now with everything that's going
- 1:57:59Speaker 57: on in the world. And, um, What people don't realize
- 1:58:03Speaker 57: is that our mindsets on things, like if we just
- 1:58:06Speaker 57: see the world through a bitter lens, it's never going
- 1:58:08Speaker 57: to end. We've got to come together. We've got to
- 1:58:11Speaker 57: work together somehow, some way to make it better.
- 1:58:15Speaker 12: I mean, I think it has to do with accountability
- 1:58:17Speaker 12: and ownership of one's behaviors and actions. It starts with
- 1:58:22Speaker 12: the self. So if we're talking.
- 1:58:25Speaker 16: If.
- 1:58:25Speaker 12: We're talking putting a mirror up and reflecting to the
- 1:58:27Speaker 12: self and asking ourselves, okay, well, why does this trigger us?
- 1:58:32Speaker 12: Or why should we take a closer look at this?
- 1:58:35Speaker 12: Or this is interesting. Maybe I should learn about this.
- 1:58:42Speaker 12: Fill in the blank, whatever it may be. Hayward said
- 1:58:45Speaker 12: he was diving into immense amounts of history this morning
- 1:58:51Speaker 12: just for fun.
- 1:58:52Speaker 9: I mean.
- 1:58:53Speaker 56: Yeah.
- 1:58:54Speaker 12: Let's do this. I think that if we don't do
- 1:58:59Speaker 12: it now, this is the tipping point.
- 1:59:03Speaker 16: We're done.
- 1:59:04Speaker 12: We're done as a species.
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 1:59:06Speaker 57: And that's why I'm so passionate about what I do
- 1:59:09Speaker 57: because it kind of helps bring the focus inward to
- 1:59:12Speaker 57: kind of figure out your strengths and your weaknesses. And
- 1:59:15Speaker 57: then you can project that outwardly and, you know, collectively
- 1:59:18Speaker 57: we can work together, uh, You know, forget our differences
- 1:59:23Speaker 57: and find the similarities where we can make the world
- 1:59:28Speaker 57: a better place. And as cheesy as that sounds, it's true.
- 1:59:30Speaker 57: It starts at home. Whatever energy you're in, you're rippling
- 1:59:35Speaker 57: that out. We're energetic beings. That's science right there. We
- 1:59:39Speaker 57: have a torridal field around us. And, you know, if
- 1:59:42Speaker 57: we're in a constant state of anger, bitterness, resentment, which
- 1:59:46Speaker 57: in my personal opinion, I feel like that's by design.
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:59:51Speaker 57: You know, we've gone through decades and decades and decades,
- 1:59:55Speaker 57: regardless of president, regardless of party, and it just seems
- 1:59:59Speaker 57: to continuously get worse and worse. And like I said,
- 2:00:03Speaker 57: I feel like that's by design. That's the powers that be.
- 2:00:07Speaker 57: Keeping us humans in a lower vibrational state, filling our minds,
- 2:00:11Speaker 57: filling our consciousness with, hatred and division and bigotry and everything,
- 2:00:16Speaker 57: and so we have no other option but to ripple
- 2:00:20Speaker 57: that outwards and now look at the state that we're in.
- 2:00:23Speaker 4: It's easier.
- 2:00:24Speaker 57: Getting people to understand themselves and their energy so that
- 2:00:29Speaker 57: collectively ripples outwards and we can work together.
- 2:00:32Speaker 2: Really quick, if all of that is brilliant, Jessica, it
- 2:00:38Speaker 2: really is, to kind of To kind of stop some
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: of these feelings, these bad energies. I mean, you use
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: astrology to kind of help learn about yourself. Is that right?
- 2:00:51Speaker 57: Yeah, yeah, actually. Yeah, because what people don't realize, again,
- 2:00:55Speaker 57: as above, so below. So what's happening in our sky
- 2:00:58Speaker 57: is taking place here in the 3D. And funnily enough...
- 2:01:04Speaker 57: We are in the age of Aquarius. That started about
- 2:01:07Speaker 57: two years ago-ish or so. And that invites us to
- 2:01:10Speaker 57: explore our relationship between power and the people. Like, who
- 2:01:15Speaker 57: holds the power? Who gave it to them? And that
- 2:01:17Speaker 57: is on an individual level, too. So a lot of
- 2:01:19Speaker 57: people are reflecting inwards. I don't know about you, but
- 2:01:23Speaker 57: I have so many people in my life that have
- 2:01:25Speaker 57: just suddenly said, you know what? Screw this job. I
- 2:01:27Speaker 57: hate it. It's not making me happy. and going a
- 2:01:29Speaker 57: completely different path, but it takes them to a breaking point.
- 2:01:33Speaker 57: And what I'm looking to do is kind of get
- 2:01:35Speaker 57: rid of that breaking point and kind of make it
- 2:01:37Speaker 57: a little bit more cohesive and easier of a transition
- 2:01:41Speaker 57: instead of waiting until somebody hits their boiling point before
- 2:01:45Speaker 57: any sort of change starts.
- 2:01:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:01:47Speaker 12: I have had so many conversations on the same wavelength, similar.
- 2:01:52Speaker 12: And I actually find that that's also a pattern I'm
- 2:01:54Speaker 12: recognizing is there's, there's a collective of people, um, in
- 2:02:01Speaker 12: my world that are also, they're like, Oh my gosh,
- 2:02:04Speaker 12: I was just saying that same exact thing to someone else.
- 2:02:09Speaker 57: We're all just kind of mirrors of one another in reality. Um,
- 2:02:13Speaker 57: have you ever met somebody that just had a bad,
- 2:02:17Speaker 57: bad vibe and like you kind of absorbed that bad,
- 2:02:19Speaker 57: bad vibe and then project that outwards. I mean, that's, that's,
- 2:02:23Speaker 57: that's our core as humans. Um, You know, another beautiful
- 2:02:26Speaker 57: detail is that, you know, going back to astrology this morning, Mars,
- 2:02:30Speaker 57: the planet of war and aggression and rebellion, is trining
- 2:02:34Speaker 57: fatter this morning, which is, you know, lessened. And it's
- 2:02:40Speaker 57: kind of a hard, too hard planet to deal with.
- 2:02:42Speaker 57: But the overarching theme is what would happen if we
- 2:02:46Speaker 57: put as much energy into creating solutions as we do
- 2:02:51Speaker 57: reacting to the problem? So instead of grunting over the
- 2:02:54Speaker 57: headlines and stuff, Why aren't we collectively trying to work
- 2:02:58Speaker 57: together to affect better change instead of just feeling that
- 2:03:04Speaker 57: division and that anger and the hatred and wanting to
- 2:03:06Speaker 57: fuck people behind keyboards?
- 2:03:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you speak as if you know a little bit
- 2:03:13Speaker 2: about astrology. For those of you out there, Jessica Owens,
- 2:03:19Speaker 2: goodness gracious, and she does astrology readings. Actually, they're called
- 2:03:22Speaker 2: something different. What do you call them?
- 2:03:24Speaker 57: I call them soul memoirs.
- 2:03:26Speaker 2: Soul memoirs.
- 2:03:26Speaker 57: Because basically what I do is I take your birth
- 2:03:28Speaker 57: information and I input it into this template thing that
- 2:03:31Speaker 57: I created, this software thing that I created, and it
- 2:03:35Speaker 57: drafts up a biography about you on your life, you know, from.
- 2:03:39Speaker 43: Birth on over.
- 2:03:41Speaker 57: And it's not... It doesn't tell you what your life...
- 2:03:44Speaker 57: It's not a fortune teller.
- 2:03:45Speaker 9: Right.
- 2:03:45Speaker 57: It's showing you energies in your life that may present
- 2:03:49Speaker 57: itself repeatedly throughout life. And you're... You know, have you ever...
- 2:03:52Speaker 57: For single people, if you've gone on dates with people
- 2:03:54Speaker 57: and it feels like you keep dating the same person
- 2:03:57Speaker 57: over and over, well, that's something internally within you. So
- 2:04:01Speaker 57: what it does is it holds the mirror up to
- 2:04:02Speaker 57: yourself so that you can see your own strengths, your
- 2:04:05Speaker 57: own weaknesses, and learn to kind of overcome those so
- 2:04:08Speaker 57: that you stop repeating patterns. And, again, I like to
- 2:04:11Speaker 57: call it leveling up and ascend to a higher state
- 2:04:14Speaker 57: of consciousness. And once you ascend, once you kind of
- 2:04:18Speaker 57: regulate your energy and learn how to work with it,
- 2:04:21Speaker 57: you become a magnet. for abundance, for good, for things
- 2:04:26Speaker 57: working in your favor, for magic.
- 2:04:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know Lady Mo had it done, and
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: lots of other folks have reached out to me who
- 2:04:36Speaker 2: had it done from you, and it really is so eye-opening, right?
- 2:04:41Speaker 2: And it's not just for people, right? You can get
- 2:04:44Speaker 2: it for someone as a gift. You can get it
- 2:04:46Speaker 2: for your children so you can learn about them more. Actually,
- 2:04:49Speaker 2: how do they actually get this if they want it?
- 2:04:52Speaker 57: Yeah, I have a website. It's goodnessgracious.shop. I actually had
- 2:04:57Speaker 57: two people last week order them for their daughter and
- 2:05:00Speaker 57: their daughter-in-law's birthday gifts. You know, just they are for gifts.
- 2:05:05Speaker 57: And my next phase, what I'd love to do is
- 2:05:07Speaker 57: I just held a class in Daytona Beach this past Sunday,
- 2:05:11Speaker 57: which went amazingly well. And not only did I explain astrology,
- 2:05:15Speaker 57: but I explained how the energy works within our bodies
- 2:05:18Speaker 57: and then how to, like, regulate that and everything. But
- 2:05:21Speaker 57: my next phase is wanting to do a class for
- 2:05:24Speaker 57: parents because I ran my, I have two sons. I
- 2:05:28Speaker 57: have a 14 and a 10-year-old, Tyler Jr. Landon, and
- 2:05:32Speaker 57: I ran their chart. So I got to understand how
- 2:05:36Speaker 57: they operate on a soul level. So, you know, most parents,
- 2:05:40Speaker 57: you know, think. well, this is the path you should
- 2:05:43Speaker 57: take because it's the most successful with the most money,
- 2:05:45Speaker 57: or grandpa was a lawyer, now you've got to be
- 2:05:47Speaker 57: a lawyer, you know, that kind of thing. And that's
- 2:05:50Speaker 57: not a one-size-fits-all for everybody. You're just kind of setting
- 2:05:54Speaker 57: your child up for a path of misery, in my opinion.
- 2:05:58Speaker 57: So what I'd really like to do is open up
- 2:06:00Speaker 57: parents' minds and worlds to how their child operates on
- 2:06:05Speaker 57: a soul level so that they can just give them
- 2:06:08Speaker 57: the best path forward. It might not be what they
- 2:06:12Speaker 57: particularly want for themselves, but it gives their child the
- 2:06:16Speaker 57: best ability for the most success.
- 2:06:20Speaker 12: I just think it's so spectacular that this whole soul
- 2:06:25Speaker 12: memoir thing comes from the mapping in the sky at
- 2:06:29Speaker 12: the exact moment you were birthed. and came into this world.
- 2:06:33Speaker 12: So it connects your soul to something so powerful. I mean,
- 2:06:37Speaker 12: we as children, we look out at the night sky
- 2:06:43Speaker 12: in awe and wonder. And the things that happen in
- 2:06:48Speaker 12: space are still being explored. We don't even know how
- 2:06:53Speaker 12: big this galaxy is. It's so expansive. So we're... like
- 2:07:01Speaker 12: I said, we are at a pivotal moment. We are
- 2:07:03Speaker 12: at a pivotal moment. I think we need to get
- 2:07:05Speaker 12: back in touch with these very ancient truths and wisdoms,
- 2:07:13Speaker 12: if you will. So I appreciate, I really appreciate what
- 2:07:15Speaker 12: you do, Jess. Thank you.
- 2:07:17Speaker 57: Well, I appreciate our conversations that we've had this week because,
- 2:07:21Speaker 57: you know, you and I are a lot on the
- 2:07:23Speaker 57: same wavelength as to, you know, what's happening in the world.
- 2:07:27Speaker 2: The reflection.
- 2:07:28Speaker 57: I like to compared to the astrology, just because that's
- 2:07:31Speaker 57: what lights me up. And I just find it fascinating
- 2:07:34Speaker 57: that what is present in the sky right now, the
- 2:07:38Speaker 57: energies that are present in the sky, and like I
- 2:07:40Speaker 57: said earlier, Mars and Saturn, you know, they're hard planets
- 2:07:44Speaker 57: to deal with. Look at the headlines that are coming
- 2:07:46Speaker 57: out right now, you know? And instead of getting angry
- 2:07:49Speaker 57: at those, we need to find a way to bring
- 2:07:52Speaker 57: it back home and just find solutions to these problems
- 2:07:56Speaker 57: instead of furthering the divide. And so our conversations this
- 2:08:00Speaker 57: past week with you both have been incredible and inspiring.
- 2:08:03Speaker 57: And so thank you for that.
- 2:08:04Speaker 43: I appreciate that.
- 2:08:05Speaker 12: Oh, that's so nice. I have a feeling I have
- 2:08:08Speaker 12: a friend for life.
- 2:08:08Speaker 16: Steve, by the way.
- 2:08:10Speaker 12: We're so cut from the same cloth. but what I
- 2:08:15Speaker 12: wanted to say was that something interesting, okay. Tinfoil hat moment, y'all. Um, no,
- 2:08:22Speaker 12: but I was listening to a podcast the other day
- 2:08:24Speaker 12: and there was a Harvard, you know, professor who, you know,
- 2:08:28Speaker 12: he's very well connected and has, you know, a very
- 2:08:32Speaker 12: strong circle of intellectual minds, powerful minds that he associates with. Um,
- 2:08:37Speaker 12: and he, there is, there's, I guess, evidence of, um,
- 2:08:45Speaker 12: Fighting UAPs, people call them, or UFOs, they used to
- 2:08:50Speaker 12: call them.
- 2:08:50Speaker 2: Kind of the same thing.
- 2:08:51Speaker 12: Same thing. Unidentified aerial phenomena.
- 2:08:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:08:57Speaker 12: But there's been an increased activity in the skies above,
- 2:09:02Speaker 12: particularly America, over the last six months. And the claims
- 2:09:09Speaker 12: are that there are other worlds fighting above us, about us.
- 2:09:14Speaker 12: because we're kind of not doing well right now.
- 2:09:19Speaker 57: Yeah. I got into.
- 2:09:24Speaker 2: Dr.
- 2:09:24Speaker 57: Stephen Greer for a while there, and he was in
- 2:09:28Speaker 57: the Black Ops project, and he's got a lot of
- 2:09:31Speaker 57: documentaries out there, and he's been working with these alien
- 2:09:35Speaker 57: beings telepathically, and it's actually caught on camera. This fascinated me.
- 2:09:41Speaker 57: Years ago, I don't know when, but we... the United States, humans,
- 2:09:46Speaker 57: were going to try to launch a nuclear bomb into
- 2:09:51Speaker 57: space to see what it did, because that's what humans do.
- 2:09:54Speaker 57: We do stupid things. And on camera, you see a
- 2:09:59Speaker 57: UAP come in and disable the fuselage on the rocket,
- 2:10:04Speaker 57: on the bomb, so it couldn't do the damage, because
- 2:10:08Speaker 57: we're not the only ones.
- 2:10:09Speaker 41: In this galaxy.
- 2:10:10Speaker 57: Like there's other planets, there's other energies, there's other things
- 2:10:14Speaker 57: going on around us that we may not be able
- 2:10:16Speaker 57: to see, but doesn't mean like the world doesn't revolve
- 2:10:18Speaker 57: around us, you know? And so the, the implications that
- 2:10:22Speaker 57: could have had, had that been successful or catastrophic. So
- 2:10:26Speaker 57: they're actually there. I find them as friendly. I believe
- 2:10:29Speaker 57: in it. I believe in the galactic federation, you know,
- 2:10:33Speaker 57: all that stuff of, of, Energy is happening outside of
- 2:10:35Speaker 57: our world that we can't see, and they're assisting humanity.
- 2:10:38Speaker 57: And while it doesn't feel like it right now when
- 2:10:40Speaker 57: you look at the headlines, that's why I'm so passionate
- 2:10:43Speaker 57: about saying in my classes and to anybody who will listen,
- 2:10:46Speaker 57: what you consume consumes you, right? So if you start
- 2:10:49Speaker 57: throwing yourself more into the higher vibrational learning of the
- 2:10:53Speaker 57: Black Federation or whatever it is that lights you up,
- 2:10:56Speaker 57: And you can ripple that energy outward. That's how we
- 2:10:58Speaker 57: affect change. But, yeah, the UAP thing, I completely believe
- 2:11:02Speaker 57: in and agree with.
- 2:11:04Speaker 2: The Age of Disclosure, right? That's right.
- 2:11:06Speaker 57: The Age of Disclosure. Yeah, absolutely. That movie was fantastic.
- 2:11:09Speaker 57: I don't know if you guys saw it, but, you know,
- 2:11:12Speaker 57: I believe we're headed for that direction.
- 2:11:14Speaker 12: Truth is stranger than fiction, for sure.
- 2:11:15Speaker 57: And being of that movie is kind of where we're headed.
- 2:11:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we've talked about movies before and how
- 2:11:21Speaker 2: they somehow predict the future or they somehow soften the
- 2:11:24Speaker 2: blow of what's actually beginning to happen, i.e. Disclosure, The Terminator,
- 2:11:29Speaker 2: you name it, War Games. They sort of deliver it
- 2:11:35Speaker 2: through cinema to soften the blow to us, perhaps, and
- 2:11:39Speaker 2: then it becomes reality, right?
- 2:11:42Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:11:43Speaker 12: This has been happening for forever.
- 2:11:44Speaker 57: The Pentagon has a budget for Hollywood, believe it or not.
- 2:11:48Speaker 37: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:11:49Speaker 57: I'm a big believer in telling the truth through Hollywood.
- 2:11:54Speaker 57: To your point, Steve, how many movies have you watched
- 2:11:58Speaker 57: years ago that you're like, oh my God, this is
- 2:12:00Speaker 57: playing out in real life right now?
- 2:12:02Speaker 2: You know, and with all this stuff, with energy, with alien,
- 2:12:05Speaker 2: I mean, like, so many high-level officials have testified about this.
- 2:12:09Speaker 2: So many, right? It's fascinating. One could say, well, they're
- 2:12:15Speaker 2: all just lying, and then they just want to ruin
- 2:12:17Speaker 2: their careers at the end of their life by just
- 2:12:19Speaker 2: lying about a UFO. Or it could actually be... There
- 2:12:23Speaker 2: really is UFOs out there, and there really is something
- 2:12:26Speaker 2: else going on above the skies, as you guys were
- 2:12:29Speaker 2: talking about before. And who knows?
- 2:12:31Speaker 16: Who knows?
- 2:12:32Speaker 12: You guys, I just want to— can I also change up
- 2:12:35Speaker 12: the subject really quick and promote a little bit of
- 2:12:37Speaker 12: something that I'm doing on the side here?
- 2:12:39Speaker 2: Of course.
- 2:12:40Speaker 12: I want to shine a little light on an exciting thing.
- 2:12:43Speaker 12: I entered into a contest, and it was for charity,
- 2:12:48Speaker 12: the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. And I'm up, actually, for a
- 2:12:51Speaker 12: huge package, like a full studio package from Rode Microphones.
- 2:12:57Speaker 2: Which are awesome, by the way.
- 2:12:58Speaker 12: Which are awesome, by the way.
- 2:12:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:13:01Speaker 12: Ryan Seacrest Foundation. Obviously, I can be on his podcast once.
- 2:13:05Speaker 12: And I'm up for $ 25, 000 and six episode podcast. Let's go.
- 2:13:10Speaker 12: Let's go. Let's go.
- 2:13:12Speaker 57: You were like number one the other day.
- 2:13:13Speaker 4: I was.
- 2:13:14Speaker 12: I was actually number one for a while. And I
- 2:13:16Speaker 12: didn't realize, but I am in the top 20 of
- 2:13:18Speaker 12: my group. So I guess I continue on. So I'm
- 2:13:21Speaker 12: just asking for some help. And I would appreciate it.
- 2:13:24Speaker 2: Let's put some of our... our energy towards you to
- 2:13:27Speaker 2: do that.
- 2:13:28Speaker 12: Thank you.
- 2:13:28Speaker 2: So Jessica, one more time. And for those out there
- 2:13:31Speaker 2: who look, you know, it's the holiday season. Uh, if
- 2:13:33Speaker 2: you guys are looking for an incredible gift for your family,
- 2:13:36Speaker 2: for anybody, you know, uh, an astrology reading, a soul

- 2:13:45Speaker 2: You cannot get in anywhere else anywhere. So where can

- 2:20:54Speaker 28: and key fobs. Plainfield Police arrested 33-year-old Jack Hennell Hawkins
- 2:20:59Speaker 28: of Florida for allegedly impersonating a high school employee to
- 2:21:03Speaker 28: change direct deposit information. Hawkins was extradited to Connecticut on
- 2:21:09Speaker 28: October 14th and charged with identity theft and attempted larceny.
- 2:21:14Speaker 28: He was held on a $ 5, 000 bond. A 223-unit housing
- 2:21:18Speaker 28: development is proposed on 80 acres of mystic farmland. Residents
- 2:21:23Speaker 28: fear increased traffic, loss of open space, and impacts to
- 2:21:26Speaker 28: wells and wetlands. The project is awaiting wetlands approval before

- 2:23:00Speaker 17: All right, we are back. And, you know, that intro, Rick.
- 2:23:29Speaker 2: I love it all the time. I know it's old,
- 2:23:31Speaker 2: and it's been with you for a while, but, like,
- 2:23:33Speaker 2: the likes of Socrates, or, yeah, whatever that is. Yeah,
- 2:23:36Speaker 2: and there you go. Anyway, brilliant.
- 2:23:38Speaker 3: Your brother wrote that, you know.
- 2:23:40Speaker 4: Brilliant!
- 2:23:40Speaker 3: Before AI.
- 2:23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, right before AI.
- 2:23:44Speaker 4: There you go.
- 2:23:45Speaker 3: Yeah, before AI.
- 2:23:46Speaker 58: And the thing is, if he'd said, I'm going to
- 2:23:49Speaker 58: allude to a philosopher, who would you like it to be?
- 2:23:53Speaker 3: It wouldn't have been Sophocles.
- 2:23:54Speaker 2: Who would it have been?
- 2:23:58Speaker 58: I'm sort of fond of Schopenhauer. He's like the only
- 2:24:03Speaker 58: existentialist that you could describe as depressive, which seems sort
- 2:24:08Speaker 58: of contradictory, but the.
- 2:24:11Speaker 3: Likes of Schopenhauer. Bertrand Russell is a good one. Okay.
- 2:24:16Speaker 58: But anyway, and then he tagged it with the schizoid man,
- 2:24:22Speaker 58: 21st century schizoid man from Ken Crimson, so.
- 2:24:26Speaker 3: How are you? You're doing a good job.
- 2:24:29Speaker 2: Well, thank you. Thank you very much.
- 2:24:30Speaker 3: Morgan's doing a good job.
- 2:24:32Speaker 12: Thank you, good sir.
- 2:24:33Speaker 2: You know, earlier I was, you know, as I started
- 2:24:38Speaker 2: the show, I said you were coming. I told everyone
- 2:24:40Speaker 2: what's coming on. And you'll be coming on and talking
- 2:24:45Speaker 2: to all arts and your books. And I've been to
- 2:24:49Speaker 2: one of your book signings.
- 2:24:50Speaker 3: Yes, you do.
- 2:24:51Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 2:24:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:24:53Speaker 43: And.
- 2:24:54Speaker 3: It was nice to see the only person in the room.
- 2:24:59Speaker 2: No, that's not true out there. It was very full.
- 2:25:01Speaker 2: But no, the energy at those things are really cool.
- 2:25:04Speaker 2: And it was like when I was sitting there watching
- 2:25:07Speaker 2: you kind of do your thing and sign your books
- 2:25:10Speaker 2: and talk about your product, it almost felt like a
- 2:25:12Speaker 2: gig for me. Like you get excited and there's an
- 2:25:15Speaker 2: audience and you're about to play some new music. And
- 2:25:19Speaker 2: it was that vibe.
- 2:25:21Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 2:25:23Speaker 58: I mean, you know this, and we've talked about this
- 2:25:25Speaker 58: on the show for the 27 plus years I've been
- 2:25:30Speaker 58: going on your brother's show. When I was in a
- 2:25:34Speaker 58: band professionally for 14 years, I was always the front man.
- 2:25:37Speaker 58: I was always the guy that talked between songs. So
- 2:25:39Speaker 58: you and I have a very similar comfort level or
- 2:25:44Speaker 58: charisma that is required if you're going to stand up
- 2:25:47Speaker 58: on stage and play music for people.
- 2:25:48Speaker 3: So it doesn't surprise me that you're really good at this.
- 2:25:52Speaker 2: If you call it music. I try.
- 2:25:54Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 2:26:00Speaker 58: You knew that I had to go to Dallas in
- 2:26:04Speaker 58: August for the funeral of a bandmate. And his widow
- 2:26:09Speaker 58: asked if the old gang would get together and play
- 2:26:12Speaker 58: several of Nick's songs, which required me picking up a
- 2:26:17Speaker 58: bass and a guitar for the first time since before COVID, literally.
- 2:26:22Speaker 58: It was my arthritis. And let me just say that
- 2:26:26Speaker 58: even though we rehearsed, we got down there. Boy, did
- 2:26:29Speaker 58: I suck.
- 2:26:31Speaker 5: Come on.
- 2:26:32Speaker 2: It wasn't like riding a bike?
- 2:26:34Speaker 3: No, it is.
- 2:26:35Speaker 2: But the brain. But the brakes don't work anymore.
- 2:26:38Speaker 58: The brain works, but the fingers don't translate. The other
- 2:26:42Speaker 58: guys are still, a lot of them are still playing.
- 2:26:44Speaker 58: So they were able to cover up my many, many
- 2:26:47Speaker 58: screw ups. So I just, by the end of it,
- 2:26:50Speaker 58: They go, where's Rick? I still hear the bass making mistakes.
- 2:26:54Speaker 58: But I just sort of backed up and hid behind
- 2:26:56Speaker 58: a PA column.
- 2:26:57Speaker 12: So maybe stick to writing.
- 2:26:59Speaker 2: Well, thankfully, you know, you've transitioned to writing books and
- 2:27:06Speaker 2: you've written a few of them now.
- 2:27:08Speaker 46: And.
- 2:27:10Speaker 2: All of them have this really cool energy and just
- 2:27:14Speaker 2: sort of different approach to it all, which is very you,
- 2:27:18Speaker 2: by the way. For those, if you know Rick, and
- 2:27:21Speaker 2: I know Rick and everybody here does, it's like he's
- 2:27:23Speaker 2: got this sense of humor, he's got this charisma, and
- 2:27:25Speaker 2: it really comes through in the books, which is cool.
- 2:27:27Speaker 3: Thank you. I try.
- 2:27:29Speaker 58: I mean, I hope that I have a voice that's,
- 2:27:33Speaker 58: I mean, they're not, you can't separate yourself from what
- 2:27:37Speaker 58: you write, but I wouldn't describe any of the novel
- 2:27:40Speaker 58: as autobiographical, even though people will say of one character
- 2:27:44Speaker 58: or another, oh, that's based on you, and well, no.
- 2:27:47Speaker 2: You know, a good character you might want to create.
- 2:27:49Speaker 12: No, but technically the genre is horror, correct?
- 2:27:50Speaker 56: Yeah.
- 2:27:51Speaker 4: I mean.
- 2:27:52Speaker 3: So, well, of the three novels that have been published, two.
- 2:27:57Speaker 2: And what are the novels? Can you just tell us?
- 2:27:58Speaker 58: Yeah, the first one was Pop in a Cold Room,
- 2:28:00Speaker 58: which is a comic crime novel. The funny part of
- 2:28:05Speaker 58: it is it involves a necrophiliac mortician.
- 2:28:07Speaker 3: That's humorous as hell.
- 2:28:09Speaker 2: So funny.
- 2:28:13Speaker 3: But Morgan, it is funny.
- 2:28:15Speaker 4: OMG.
- 2:28:15Speaker 12: I mean, I imagine in a way that good comedy
- 2:28:18Speaker 12: just is. Right?
- 2:28:21Speaker 7: Because what?
- 2:28:21Speaker 58: But so if people said, oh, you were the The
- 2:28:26Speaker 58: necrophiliac mortation. No, no, I'm certainly not. But anyway, to
- 2:28:31Speaker 58: answer your question, the other two that are published are
- 2:28:35Speaker 58: horror and supernatural, and I'm drawing a fine line.
- 2:28:38Speaker 2: And their names?
- 2:28:39Speaker 3: One of them is Grigri Gumbo, which is a horror.
- 2:28:41Speaker 2: Which I have, which is great.
- 2:28:43Speaker 3: Thank you. And then the newest one.
- 2:28:45Speaker 2: And you signed it for me, which is even better.
- 2:28:47Speaker 9: Anyway.
- 2:28:48Speaker 3: Well, I just lessened the resale value. Maybe.
- 2:28:52Speaker 58: Take it to half-price books or whatever they call those things.
- 2:28:56Speaker 58: They go, oh, hell, if you didn't have his name
- 2:28:58Speaker 58: in it, we could give you a little more money
- 2:28:59Speaker 58: for it, but you've ruined that. But anyway, there's three
- 2:29:03Speaker 58: unpublished novels, and none of those are horror.
- 2:29:06Speaker 17: They're all crime.
- 2:29:06Speaker 12: And the third you were about to say.
- 2:29:08Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, White Ghost Blues.
- 2:29:09Speaker 2: Yes. That's the new one. That's the vampire one, right?
- 2:29:12Speaker 3: No.
- 2:29:13Speaker 58: Yes, it's a young adult novel about an albino woman.
- 2:29:18Speaker 3: Blue's Guitar Prodigy. Oh, that's right. He was lonely.
- 2:29:20Speaker 2: I've got to get that one.
- 2:29:22Speaker 3: He falls in love with a.
- 2:29:23Speaker 2: Do you know somebody who has that book?
- 2:29:24Speaker 3: Can I get it?
- 2:29:25Speaker 2: Do you know somebody who has that book?
- 2:29:27Speaker 3: Can I get a deal? I should have brought... Would
- 2:29:29Speaker 3: you give me a deal today? I would have brought
- 2:29:30Speaker 3: all three of you books, because.
- 2:29:32Speaker 7: You know what?
- 2:29:32Speaker 3: There's only... And they're free. That's a good deal.
- 2:29:36Speaker 58: There's only like 600 left in my personal stock.
- 2:29:39Speaker 3: Of the original 611. Oh, my goodness. That I had.
- 2:29:42Speaker 3: Come on, don't listen to me.
- 2:29:44Speaker 12: No, I was stressed for you because originally I think
- 2:29:46Speaker 12: you were on the show and you were waiting for
- 2:29:48Speaker 12: a shipment.
- 2:29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that was last year.
- 2:29:49Speaker 12: Right, for the last book signing and.
- 2:29:51Speaker 58: It wasn't here yet. It wasn't the publisher's fault. It
- 2:29:55Speaker 58: was the people that print it.
- 2:29:57Speaker 2: Rick, where do they get these books?
- 2:29:59Speaker 3: Where do they get them?
- 2:30:01Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the books are incredible, guys, but where are
- 2:30:04Speaker 2: they going to get them?
- 2:30:04Speaker 3: Oh, I thought you meant where did the publisher get them?
- 2:30:06Speaker 7: No, no, no.
- 2:30:07Speaker 2: Where do they buy them?
- 2:30:08Speaker 7: Oh, well.
- 2:30:09Speaker 58: There's such a change, as it is in music, in
- 2:30:12Speaker 58: publishing now, that if you're not one of the top
- 2:30:16Speaker 58: five publishing houses or a New York publishing house established,
- 2:30:23Speaker 58: your chance of getting distributed into major bookstores nationwide. Leap
- 2:30:31Speaker 58: past me when you ask where can people get them.
- 2:30:35Speaker 3: It's just dumpsters everywhere.
- 2:30:37Speaker 58: Okay.
- 2:30:41Speaker 12: Thank you for the support, engineer.
- 2:30:42Speaker 1: Always nice.
- 2:30:43Speaker 58: It's like the guys, the poor guys that pick up
- 2:30:45Speaker 58: our trash on Trash Dago. Why is it so heavy?
- 2:30:48Speaker 58: It's like, oh, he's throwing away his own book by
- 2:30:52Speaker 58: the hundreds. Anyway, what I was saying is pretty much
- 2:30:56Speaker 58: the publisher's website, which is Journalstone Books, which is a
- 2:31:01Speaker 58: very established but small dark fiction house, or Or pretty
- 2:31:06Speaker 58: much Amazon.
- 2:31:06Speaker 2: Amazon, okay.
- 2:31:07Speaker 3: Barnes & Noble.
- 2:31:08Speaker 2: But you'll find it there. So you can Google this
- 2:31:10Speaker 2: and just find it. Yeah.
- 2:31:12Speaker 3: Locally, it's at Bank Square Books. Right, okay. All right,
- 2:31:15Speaker 3: there you go.
- 2:31:16Speaker 58: But the days when my books were distributed to real
- 2:31:20Speaker 58: bookstores across the country, that's gone.
- 2:31:23Speaker 2: Is there a digital version of, like, you know?
- 2:31:25Speaker 3: There is a digital version of White Ghost Blues.
- 2:31:28Speaker 2: Okay, so that's, so if you don't want to read
- 2:31:29Speaker 2: it full. You know, inaudible. It's inaudible, right?
- 2:31:32Speaker 12: Is it inaudible?
- 2:31:33Speaker 3: I don't even know what that is.
- 2:31:34Speaker 12: Oh, Audible is a book.
- 2:31:36Speaker 2: Oh, Rick, this is what you have to do.
- 2:31:38Speaker 1: Rick, Audible.
- 2:31:40Speaker 3: Are you going to tell me to read my own book?
- 2:31:41Speaker 52: It's how I read books.
- 2:31:42Speaker 2: Or get actors to read the.
- 2:31:45Speaker 3: So you know how.
- 2:31:46Speaker 2: I'm a pretty good actor, Rick.
- 2:31:47Speaker 3: I know you are.
- 2:31:48Speaker 2: I would love to play the vampire in that book
- 2:31:52Speaker 2: in your Audible.
- 2:31:53Speaker 12: And when you're on next week with my sister, she's absolutely.
- 2:31:57Speaker 12: We're going to play some snippets from the Audible book.
- 2:31:59Speaker 12: She actually hired the narrator specifically.
- 2:32:03Speaker 3: Your sister's book's doing well, isn't it?
- 2:32:05Speaker 12: Thank you. Yeah, I think so. It's doing very well.
- 2:32:07Speaker 3: Tell everybody about that.
- 2:32:09Speaker 12: Well, next week I will. Yeah, it's Kingdom of Devils.
- 2:32:12Speaker 12: I don't want to steal yours.
- 2:32:13Speaker 3: But I don't care. I'm proud of all the people.
- 2:32:16Speaker 12: That make music and write books.
- 2:32:17Speaker 3: See, here's the thing. It's a weekend, and people might
- 2:32:20Speaker 3: be saying, I.
- 2:32:21Speaker 12: Want something to read.
- 2:32:22Speaker 2: A rainy, stormy one. And a stormy one, yeah.
- 2:32:24Speaker 12: Hold, bundle up, grab a book.
- 2:32:25Speaker 3: And get your sister's book.
- 2:32:27Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:32:29Speaker 3: Or Audible.
- 2:32:29Speaker 29: Or Rick's.
- 2:32:30Speaker 12: Come on now.
- 2:32:31Speaker 3: My book's short. That's a good thing. I love it.
- 2:32:34Speaker 2: Are you working on things new right now?
- 2:32:35Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I'm writing one I wrote this morning before
- 2:32:38Speaker 3: I came in here.
- 2:32:39Speaker 58: But you know what? I'm 72. If I did re-get
- 2:32:44Speaker 58: an agent, I lost. I've had two agents.
- 2:32:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:32:47Speaker 3: I lost the last one during COVID.
- 2:32:51Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:32:51Speaker 58: And without an agent, you're not going to get a
- 2:32:54Speaker 58: major publishing deal. And so I haven't had a major
- 2:32:57Speaker 58: publishing deal. Not that any of them were great publishing deals,
- 2:33:00Speaker 58: but they were with Allegiant Publishing Houses. So I'm 72.
- 2:33:04Speaker 58: It'll take me another year to finish this. If I
- 2:33:07Speaker 58: did sell it, I'd be 74 before it came out.
- 2:33:11Speaker 3: I'm not kidding anybody. I'll be dead.
- 2:33:14Speaker 2: Come on now! Says the man with the Nosferatu shirt.
- 2:33:20Speaker 58: But so you understand this because I have the creative impulse.
- 2:33:29Speaker 3: It's fun for me.
- 2:33:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:33:30Speaker 3: Probably never will.
- 2:33:31Speaker 2: It's a blessing and a curse.
- 2:33:33Speaker 3: But you write every day.
- 2:33:34Speaker 12: I think it's the antidote to what's happening right.
- 2:33:36Speaker 4: Now in the world.
- 2:33:37Speaker 43: It is.
- 2:33:37Speaker 1: To create.
- 2:33:37Speaker 2: That's a great.
- 2:33:38Speaker 3: It's so therapeutic.
- 2:33:39Speaker 12: It really is.
- 2:33:40Speaker 3: And I lose myself.
- 2:33:41Speaker 12: You should do it.
- 2:33:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:33:43Speaker 41: Whenever.
- 2:33:44Speaker 4: Wherever.
- 2:33:46Speaker 42: Yeah.
- 2:33:46Speaker 8: No.
- 2:33:47Speaker 2: When we create... it's like positive energy gets put back out.
- 2:33:51Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:33:51Speaker 3: Right. It is.
- 2:33:53Speaker 2: And so that, and did you.
- 2:33:54Speaker 3: Ask your previous guest about that? Cause I was in the, yeah,
- 2:33:57Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 2:33:58Speaker 2: Jessica talked about a little bit about, you know, what
- 2:34:01Speaker 2: creating and you talked about.
- 2:34:02Speaker 3: It as well.
- 2:34:03Speaker 12: It's sort of a mirror. I mean, it's actually like a,
- 2:34:06Speaker 12: I actually think it's, it, it reminds me of some
- 2:34:08Speaker 12: Buddhist concepts. Um, you know, the, the, the, the mirror,
- 2:34:12Speaker 12: you know, if you set the tone, um, You know,
- 2:34:15Speaker 12: say your household is, you know, you have five people
- 2:34:18Speaker 12: in it and you're the one who's a practicing Buddhist
- 2:34:22Speaker 12: and you're chanting and you're doing all the self work
- 2:34:25Speaker 12: that is going to radiate. And then by example and
- 2:34:28Speaker 12: your leadership will then the others in your, you know,
- 2:34:32Speaker 12: around you. It's essentially you pay it forward and the
- 2:34:36Speaker 12: tree grows and grows and grows and grows almost as
- 2:34:39Speaker 12: planting a seed, you know.
- 2:34:41Speaker 2: You know what's funny is, Rick, and you write every day,
- 2:34:46Speaker 2: you were saying, there was a time when I was
- 2:34:47Speaker 2: writing where it was very important for me. This is
- 2:34:51Speaker 2: sort of like computers are obviously there, but before I
- 2:34:54Speaker 2: was using computers to write more of the stuff and
- 2:34:57Speaker 2: type it out, I would buy these really cool, and
- 2:35:02Speaker 2: I'd have lots of them, journals. that had a look
- 2:35:05Speaker 2: about it, a feel, a leather case, a dragon on it,
- 2:35:08Speaker 2: a this, a that. And I remember I'd, I'd love to,
- 2:35:11Speaker 2: you know, whatever these journals would be, I'd pick them
- 2:35:14Speaker 2: out because they inspired me, what their cover, what it
- 2:35:17Speaker 2: looked like. And I remember opening up and it's all
- 2:35:19Speaker 2: blank pages. And I used to love that because I'm
- 2:35:22Speaker 2: going to fill these, right? This is going to be filled.
- 2:35:24Speaker 2: And so, and I used to love that whole, that
- 2:35:27Speaker 2: whole concept, the whole concept of like these different, you know, journals,
- 2:35:32Speaker 2: blank journals that have a, a radiating energy that happened
- 2:35:35Speaker 2: to like, right. And now, unfortunately I don't buy the
- 2:35:38Speaker 2: journals and I just go onto my Mac and I
- 2:35:40Speaker 2: go on pages and I write, and it's not the same.
- 2:35:42Speaker 12: It's not the same.
- 2:35:43Speaker 2: It's not the same.
- 2:35:44Speaker 3: Those blank pages.
- 2:35:45Speaker 40: Yeah.
- 2:35:47Speaker 12: Memories that involve all the senses, you know, going to
- 2:35:52Speaker 12: get the journal.
- 2:35:53Speaker 2: Well, it's funny. It's funny. And with my case, when
- 2:35:56Speaker 2: I was journaling and writing the songs, I actually knew
- 2:36:01Speaker 2: the lyrics better because I would write the lyrics and
- 2:36:03Speaker 2: have to write them down, physically write them, so I
- 2:36:06Speaker 2: would remember them better. Now it's like type them like
- 2:36:09Speaker 2: a million minutes ago and spell half of it wrong.
- 2:36:11Speaker 2: And I don't even know the words of my own
- 2:36:13Speaker 2: song anymore because I didn't do it the way I
- 2:36:16Speaker 2: used to.
- 2:36:16Speaker 3: It is not the same.
- 2:36:17Speaker 7: Right.
- 2:36:18Speaker 58: And you know what you said, both of y'all referring
- 2:36:22Speaker 58: to the seduction of blank pages. I can only write
- 2:36:29Speaker 58: With a certain type of pen. I have a pen
- 2:36:32Speaker 58: that I will, I mean, if the plumber comes and
- 2:36:38Speaker 58: I've got to write a check and one of my
- 2:36:40Speaker 58: pens is up in the office, I can grab one
- 2:36:42Speaker 58: of Eileen's pens.
- 2:36:43Speaker 2: But your writing pen, your creative pen.
- 2:36:45Speaker 3: My writing pen is a certain.
- 2:36:47Speaker 12: That's your connection.
- 2:36:48Speaker 9: It is.
- 2:36:48Speaker 12: That's the point at which you're.
- 2:36:53Speaker 49: Very.
- 2:36:53Speaker 2: It'll flow.
- 2:36:54Speaker 12: Yeah, it flows and it reaches the page into actual
- 2:36:57Speaker 12: real life.
- 2:36:59Speaker 58: Now, you know, partially you were referring to the fact
- 2:37:02Speaker 58: that before we came on that you have a slight.
- 2:37:05Speaker 3: Ocular problem, and I do too. Yes, dear.
- 2:37:08Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:37:08Speaker 3: Well, I'm partially colorblind. Okay.
- 2:37:11Speaker 58: And so I bought a package of these pens, and
- 2:37:17Speaker 58: I didn't realize they.
- 2:37:18Speaker 3: Were purple instead of blue. So.
- 2:37:22Speaker 58: Everybody's like, why are you writing me notes in purple pen?
- 2:37:26Speaker 58: Which is like something a 17-year-old girl would.
- 2:37:28Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:37:31Speaker 16: Little love notes.
- 2:37:32Speaker 12: Like, I made you mixed tape, too.
- 2:37:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:37:35Speaker 58: Yeah.
- 2:37:36Speaker 2: Yeah, mixtape too, yeah. Yeah, it's too funny.
- 2:37:38Speaker 3: Did you have mixtapes?
- 2:37:40Speaker 12: Oh, all the mixtapes.
- 2:37:41Speaker 2: Did you have mixtapes?
- 2:37:42Speaker 8: I did.
- 2:37:42Speaker 4: All of them.
- 2:37:43Speaker 45: Yeah.
- 2:37:43Speaker 1: All of them.
- 2:37:43Speaker 3: My thing was set to record.
- 2:37:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I still have them. My thing was
- 2:37:46Speaker 2: set to record, and I'd hear it on the radio.
- 2:37:47Speaker 2: I'd pop it.
- 2:37:48Speaker 1: There it is.
- 2:37:48Speaker 41: Yeah.
- 2:37:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:37:49Speaker 2: It's the only time you can hear your song.
- 2:37:51Speaker 12: There were categories. My dad was famous. I mean, he
- 2:37:54Speaker 12: made my mom all the, like, this was like the
- 2:37:56Speaker 12: love song tape.
- 2:37:57Speaker 53: Yeah.
- 2:37:58Speaker 4: Yeah, one and two.
- 2:38:00Speaker 3: Your parents are probably about my age then.
- 2:38:02Speaker 5: Yes, 75.
- 2:38:02Speaker 42: Yeah.
- 2:38:04Speaker 3: So they're right in the prime age of.
- 2:38:05Speaker 2: Making mixed cassettes. Yeah, no, it was an art in
- 2:38:10Speaker 2: and of itself. If you missed the song, then you
- 2:38:15Speaker 2: had to listen to the radio for another hour until
- 2:38:17Speaker 2: it comes back on again.
- 2:38:19Speaker 3: If any of the songs you like were even on
- 2:38:22Speaker 3: the radio.
- 2:38:23Speaker 2: That's right. Well, that's the other issue, right?
- 2:38:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it really is.
- 2:38:27Speaker 12: How times have changed. But you should stick to Stick
- 2:38:32Speaker 12: to it. Stick to finding the page, getting the pen,
- 2:38:35Speaker 12: whatever color.
- 2:38:36Speaker 3: It may be.
- 2:38:36Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 2:38:37Speaker 3: Oh, I will never stop doing that.
- 2:38:38Speaker 12: And connecting.
- 2:38:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:38:40Speaker 12: It's where you find yourself and the rest of the world.
- 2:38:43Speaker 2: Rick, do you just write story books, novels, or is
- 2:38:47Speaker 2: it also poems and other things?
- 2:38:49Speaker 3: No, I've never written poetry. I am in awe of poets. Okay.
- 2:38:56Speaker 58: I used to be able to quote like Yeats and
- 2:38:58Speaker 58: Eliot and stuff like that, but my brain is.
- 2:39:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:39:02Speaker 58: Swiss cheese, but, um, so no, I don't, but I mean,
- 2:39:06Speaker 58: I wrote two nonfiction books.
- 2:39:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:39:09Speaker 3: Uh, but no, I don't, I can't.
- 2:39:11Speaker 12: If you ever thought of writing one about sort of
- 2:39:15Speaker 12: like in your genre, your comedic, but historical.
- 2:39:18Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 2:39:19Speaker 2: Kind of context.
- 2:39:21Speaker 3: That's too much.
- 2:39:22Speaker 12: Have you ever thought about a title of like what,
- 2:39:24Speaker 12: like if you were to write another book about today,
- 2:39:27Speaker 12: like what is happening in today's world?
- 2:39:30Speaker 2: It would be a title like Steve is a good guy.
- 2:39:31Speaker 2: What would you call it?
- 2:39:34Speaker 58: I don't think I can say what my title would
- 2:39:36Speaker 58: be on a conservative radio station. They'd have the FBI
- 2:39:41Speaker 58: kicking down the door.
- 2:39:44Speaker 3: You know what? I have a sub stack called I
- 2:39:49Speaker 3: Like Good.
- 2:39:51Speaker 58: And I posted one yesterday because it was Eileen's birthday
- 2:39:54Speaker 58: on Tuesday. And I usually post them on Thursday. And
- 2:39:59Speaker 58: it was a joke, they're all joke columns, but that
- 2:40:02Speaker 58: we were opening a museum of her Tupperware collection.
- 2:40:05Speaker 2: That's fantastic.
- 2:40:08Speaker 3: I don't know if y'all are.
- 2:40:09Speaker 12: I think everyone can empathize with that.
- 2:40:11Speaker 2: It's insane.
- 2:40:12Speaker 7: It is insane.
- 2:40:13Speaker 58: But the point was that to set up the joke
- 2:40:16Speaker 58: of the substack properly, I described that I had, because
- 2:40:22Speaker 58: the museum wouldn't be open on time for her birthday,
- 2:40:24Speaker 58: I had to give her some fake presents. And so
- 2:40:27Speaker 58: I asked AI to make me a sweatshirt that said,
- 2:40:32Speaker 58: I will proudly.
- 2:40:38Speaker 3: What I wanted the sweatshirt to say.
- 2:40:42Speaker 58: Was something that called for violence against a certain Texas politician.
- 2:40:48Speaker 3: Gotcha.
- 2:40:48Speaker 58: That I can't say Paxton's name.
- 2:40:51Speaker 3: Oh, did I just do that? But AI said, no,
- 2:40:54Speaker 3: can't do that.
- 2:40:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:40:57Speaker 3: Why can't you do it? You're AI.
- 2:41:00Speaker 2: AI is being big brothered.
- 2:41:03Speaker 12: Is AI summoning the demons? Are we all just doing it?
- 2:41:07Speaker 2: He's AI the demon.
- 2:41:09Speaker 12: Are we all just doing it? Are we normalizing the abnormal?
- 2:41:13Speaker 2: Listen, AI now is in Google. It's everywhere. It is
- 2:41:15Speaker 2: in Google. If you don't want to do AI, that's fine,
- 2:41:19Speaker 2: but you're doing it when you go to Google.
- 2:41:21Speaker 3: It's the first thing that pops up.
- 2:41:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:41:25Speaker 3: I do use it, and I.
- 2:41:26Speaker 58: Enjoy using it, and it's very effective for the illustrations
- 2:41:29Speaker 58: for my sub.
- 2:41:30Speaker 3: Stack, the comic illustrations.
- 2:41:32Speaker 2: It's perfect for that, right?
- 2:41:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's perfect.
- 2:41:34Speaker 58: But not once have I ever asked it for any
- 2:41:37Speaker 58: writing help because I'm better than that.
- 2:41:40Speaker 2: Yes. You are better than that.
- 2:41:42Speaker 3: Not morally or ethically. As a craftsman, I write better
- 2:41:47Speaker 3: than AI does.
- 2:41:48Speaker 58: And, in fact, I got a message from AI this
- 2:41:50Speaker 58: morning asking me to write for it.
- 2:41:53Speaker 3: I'm just kidding.
- 2:41:56Speaker 44: And I almost.
- 2:41:58Speaker 3: Just kidding.
- 2:42:00Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised, though.
- 2:42:04Speaker 58: I'm looking at your doodle sheet over here. Those look
- 2:42:06Speaker 58: like veve symbols and voodoo.
- 2:42:09Speaker 2: Well, I am very voodooist.
- 2:42:13Speaker 17: Yes.
- 2:42:13Speaker 12: It reminded me of when John Stewart on The Daily
- 2:42:15Speaker 12: Show does his all.
- 2:42:17Speaker 2: Yeah. When I talk, I just doodle and I just
- 2:42:21Speaker 2: make circles and strange.
- 2:42:23Speaker 3: Those look like veve symbols and voodoo. You better watch out.
- 2:42:26Speaker 3: You might have accidentally summoned Baron Samedi.
- 2:42:30Speaker 2: Or purposefully.
- 2:42:31Speaker 3: Or purposefully. Or purposefully.
- 2:42:32Speaker 7: Oh, oh.
- 2:42:34Speaker 3: I mean, we are. We're not getting out of the studio.
- 2:42:39Speaker 2: Not alive.
- 2:42:40Speaker 3: Snakes appearing in the corner and stuff.
- 2:42:42Speaker 2: Anything going on this weekend for you, Rick?
- 2:42:45Speaker 3: No, I don't think so.
- 2:42:48Speaker 58: I would like, if I can, say that I was very,
- 2:42:52Speaker 58: speaking of the Tonight Show, Stephen Colbert, Late Night, the very,
- 2:43:00Speaker 58: hilarious writer for him, Paul Mercurio, who has a podcast
- 2:43:05Speaker 58: and is a renowned stand-up comic, was nice enough to
- 2:43:08Speaker 58: be on his podcast, asked me to be on his podcast,
- 2:43:12Speaker 58: Inside Out, which is insane.
- 2:43:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I've listened to it. He has Paul McCartney on there.
- 2:43:20Speaker 12: Brian Cranston was just on there.
- 2:43:23Speaker 58: So these people like that, and then he asked me,
- 2:43:27Speaker 58: and I was like, I get it. For insurance possible,
- 2:43:32Speaker 58: whatever reason, he needed a tank.
- 2:43:35Speaker 3: So he asked me on.
- 2:43:37Speaker 2: That is not true.
- 2:43:39Speaker 3: Anyway, so you can....
- 2:43:42Speaker 58: I don't know if you're like this, Steve. Because we
- 2:43:45Speaker 58: were in bands together and wrote songs. I didn't mind
- 2:43:47Speaker 58: listening to my own songs. I was happy to do that.
- 2:43:51Speaker 58: But I don't like to listen to my voice talking.
- 2:43:55Speaker 58: So I haven't listened to this fairly elite podcast that
- 2:43:59Speaker 58: I'm on.
- 2:44:00Speaker 3: I see.
- 2:44:00Speaker 2: You should.
- 2:44:01Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:44:01Speaker 26: No, I don't.
- 2:44:02Speaker 3: You know, you have a great, Morgan, you got a
- 2:44:04Speaker 3: wonderful voice.
- 2:44:05Speaker 12: Thank you.
- 2:44:05Speaker 3: Obviously Lee has a wonderful voice.
- 2:44:08Speaker 2: The goat.
- 2:44:09Speaker 3: I sound like someone that fell off a hillbilly.
- 2:44:13Speaker 4: I disagree.
- 2:44:14Speaker 12: I actually really looked like when you were doing the
- 2:44:16Speaker 12: regular Friday thing on the voice of freedom.
- 2:44:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:44:19Speaker 12: Um, I really looked forward to that because your voice
- 2:44:21Speaker 12: is very calming and soothing right at the end of
- 2:44:23Speaker 12: the week of like, you know, just madness.
- 2:44:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:44:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:44:28Speaker 12: And then you even brought it to a non-political tone, too. So,
- 2:44:32Speaker 12: you know.
- 2:44:33Speaker 3: It was hard to stay non-political.
- 2:44:35Speaker 22: I know.
- 2:44:36Speaker 3: By the way, you're doing it.
- 2:44:38Speaker 58: I didn't know that you were having boots on every week.
- 2:44:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:44:42Speaker 3: I've been missing my boots.
- 2:44:44Speaker 2: Oh, you've been missing your boots.
- 2:44:45Speaker 3: Can you resend me all those boots?
- 2:44:47Speaker 2: I've got to talk to the man in charge over here. Yeah.
- 2:44:50Speaker 12: You can go to the links online and listen to
- 2:44:52Speaker 12: the SoundClouds and Rumbles.
- 2:44:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:44:54Speaker 3: Because they're all digital. What do you think of Laboot
- 2:44:56Speaker 3: and the Ice?
- 2:44:58Speaker 12: I'm a huge Boots fan.
- 2:45:00Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 2:45:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:45:01Speaker 12: I think I actually think that a lot of us
- 2:45:06Speaker 12: get unfairly categorized and labeled a little bit. And so,
- 2:45:15Speaker 12: you know, and I really do believe that we all
- 2:45:17Speaker 12: have a lot of commonalities more so than we more
- 2:45:23Speaker 12: so than we admit.
- 2:45:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:45:25Speaker 2: Rick, one more time, thank you for being here. Where
- 2:45:27Speaker 2: can they get your books if they want to get them?
- 2:45:29Speaker 2: One more time.
- 2:45:31Speaker 58: Right now, get White Ghost Blues and Grigori Gumbo. Go
- 2:45:35Speaker 58: to Amazon.com or go to Bank Square Books and Mystic,
- 2:45:38Speaker 58: and I won't sign them, and that should be an inducement.
- 2:45:43Speaker 12: And tune in Wednesday because you're coming back.
- 2:45:45Speaker 3: I'm coming back.
- 2:45:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:45:46Speaker 12: My sister will talk about her book. You can talk
- 2:45:49Speaker 12: about yours and we can talk about.
- 2:45:50Speaker 17: Well, listen, guys.
- 2:45:51Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:45:51Speaker 2: Thank you guys so much for being here. Happy Friday.
- 2:45:54Speaker 2: Happy weekend.
- 2:45:56Speaker 1: Bye, everybody.
- 2:45:56Speaker 7: Out.
