- 0:01Speaker 1: Last break of the day, Steve bless Us with your
- 0:05Speaker 1: closing remarks, bless Us enlightening. Yeah, that's heavy, bless Us,
- 0:11Speaker 1: it's really heavy. Yeah. I know what I think of
- 0:14Speaker 1: that that that puts me in motivated space.
- 0:18Speaker 2: So I think of what I'm gonna do is talk
- 0:21Speaker 2: to you about something that can help really move your
- 0:24Speaker 2: life forward.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You know.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Oftentimes, you know, man, we get stumped because we get
- 0:29Speaker 2: we find ourselves in a dark place much longer than
- 0:31Speaker 2: we want to be there. And some of these dark
- 0:33Speaker 2: places that we find ourselves here is because we don't
- 0:36Speaker 2: have the right.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Attitude to get out.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you something that can help you
- 0:41Speaker 2: move your life forward that could possibly be holding you
- 0:45Speaker 2: back without you even realizing it. Is the act of forgiveness,
- 0:53Speaker 2: Just the simple act of forgiveness.
- 0:58Speaker 1: You know. I have Bishop Jakes on my show one time.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I mean, we were talking about how forgiveness slows people
- 1:03Speaker 2: up because when you don't forgive.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You have to harbor all of these feelings.
- 1:10Speaker 2: When you don't forgive, you have to harbor the memory
- 1:14Speaker 2: of something. When you don't forgive, you harbor all of
- 1:19Speaker 2: the ways it made you feel, which keeps you in
- 1:23Speaker 2: a low state. Instead of getting to the mountaintop, you
- 1:27Speaker 2: stay in this valley the whole time, and.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's a tough place to be.
- 1:34Speaker 2: You can rid yourself of that low place in life
- 1:38Speaker 2: with the act of forgiveness. A lot of us can't
- 1:42Speaker 2: move forward because we're allowing something somebody did to us
- 1:48Speaker 2: hold us back. You know, I just can't get passed
- 1:51Speaker 2: away he treated I just can't get passed away.
- 1:56Speaker 1: My father left me.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I cannot get past the way that my mama was.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I just cannot get.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Past the way of how my friends treated me. I
- 2:12Speaker 2: thought this was my best friend. I cannot believe how
- 2:18Speaker 2: they did me. Man, that's unthinkable. I just can't get
- 2:23Speaker 2: past it. Well, if you say you won't get past it,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I got news for you.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You're not. And if you don't get past it, you
- 2:31Speaker 1: can't move forward.
- 2:33Speaker 2: See Bishop Jakes taught me this forgiveness is not for
- 2:36Speaker 2: the other person. Forgiveness is actually for you. See you
- 2:42Speaker 2: do a person like I tell you what, every time
- 2:45Speaker 2: they see me, I bet I ain't gonna forgive them. No,
- 2:47Speaker 2: what actually happens is every time you see them, you
- 2:50Speaker 2: relive the moment. Every time you see them, you drum
- 2:54Speaker 2: up those old feelings. Every time you see them, you
- 2:57Speaker 2: throw yourself into something.
- 3:00Speaker 1: The person that you're not forgiving.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Usually don't even know that you haven't forgiven them, and
- 3:08Speaker 2: they have moved on with they life. They skipping, but
- 3:13Speaker 2: because you have never forgave them or never brought it
- 3:17Speaker 2: to their attention. So you think that it'll create closure
- 3:19Speaker 2: for you. It won't. It won't. The fact that you
- 3:24Speaker 2: won't forgive a person does nothing to them, but it
- 3:28Speaker 2: does so much damage to you.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It's like a cancer in.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Your body that festers and grows and over the years
- 3:36Speaker 2: if you don't forgive enough, If you don't forgive a person,
- 3:39Speaker 2: it stays with you and it causes so many ill
- 3:42Speaker 2: feelings in you. And next thing you know, you can't
- 3:45Speaker 2: move on with the next relationship because you still living
- 3:49Speaker 2: in the other relationship. You can't move on to the
- 3:52Speaker 2: next business deal because you so wiped out how they
- 3:55Speaker 2: did you in that last business deal. You can't find
- 3:58Speaker 2: yourself progressing with your friends, your new friends, because you
- 4:02Speaker 2: can't move past what your old friend did to you.
- 4:04Speaker 2: How many times, if you really think about it, has
- 4:09Speaker 2: the act of non forgiving held you back? Probably more
- 4:13Speaker 2: times than you think. I did it to myself. It
- 4:17Speaker 2: was a guy man that ran a club for me
- 4:19Speaker 2: in Dallas. Well, he took some money from me, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: at the time it was thirty three thousand dollars. Now
- 4:28Speaker 2: back then, man, that was all I had. I came
- 4:31Speaker 2: from a gig and the money in account. They said,
- 4:34Speaker 2: well it's gone, mister Harby. You have some people signing,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and they removed the money. I said, okay, maybe I
- 4:41Speaker 2: had to do some winning.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I called him.
- 4:43Speaker 2: He went to answer the phone. I went by his
- 4:45Speaker 2: office and his office was cleared out, and I went
- 4:49Speaker 2: and I came from a comedy gig. I came back
- 4:51Speaker 2: to my club and all of a sudden it was gone.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And man, that was it, I said, hold up, just
- 4:59Speaker 2: to I looked for him everywhere. Every time I heard man,
- 5:05Speaker 2: I had people looking for him. Hey man, he up
- 5:06Speaker 2: here getting the haircut. I get in my car forty
- 5:09Speaker 2: minutes away, drive to the barbershop. Or he left. Man,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I go to a club. Hey man, your boy just
- 5:14Speaker 2: run out the back door. I run out the back door.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I see his tail lights pulling through the gate. I
- 5:19Speaker 2: looked for him for years, and for years and for years, man,
- 5:24Speaker 2: I looked for this dude man for seven years, and
- 5:29Speaker 2: then something happened. My mama passed, and he sent the
- 5:33Speaker 2: biggest flower arrangement to my mama's funeral because my mama
- 5:38Speaker 2: taught him Sunday school. And I was sitting there and
- 5:41Speaker 2: I read the car and it was from him. But
- 5:44Speaker 2: at that moment I didn't have time to hate him,
- 5:47Speaker 2: because my mama was gone. And at that moment, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: realized what was really important to me, and he was
- 5:53Speaker 2: so unimportant to me at that time, and so at
- 5:56Speaker 2: that day I forgave him that day. Now, since then,
- 6:00Speaker 2: had he stayed my manager, he would be making right
- 6:05Speaker 2: now ten percent of everything I've earned. You do you
- 6:09Speaker 2: have any idea what that check would be. But for
- 6:11Speaker 2: thirty three thousand and I just forgave it. I was
- 6:16Speaker 2: able to move on with my life. If I had
- 6:18Speaker 2: allowed that to hold me, then I could be stuck
- 6:21Speaker 2: right back at that thirty three. But because I was
- 6:24Speaker 2: willing to let it go, God has opened up the
- 6:28Speaker 2: windows of heaven and poured out of blessings. I ain't
- 6:30Speaker 2: even got rich. His blessings chased me down. I am
- 6:34Speaker 2: telling you, you've got to let it go. Talk to
- 6:37Speaker 2: God today. Love yourself.
