Boulder [Photography]

My Word with Douglas E. Welch · Jul 26, 2026

Shot from a low angle in rich, detailed black and white, this photograph centers on a massive, weathered boulder nestled deep within a shadowy forest canopy. The sharp contrast highlights every crack, texture, and natural contour of the ancient stone, while sweeping tree branches and delicate leaves frame the rock from above. The soft overhead light filtering through the trees creates a peaceful, almost secret-haven atmosphere. Follow me on Instagram at @douglaswelch, @dewdesignphoto, and @agardenersnotebook and Pixelfed.
