- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So I want to share with you
- 0:31something that I read which I think is really interesting.
- 0:34Change is never painful. Only the resistance is painful.
- 0:38Quite a concept, right, Because it's not the change, actual
- 0:41change that's the problem because it's always going to
- 0:44take place. It's inevitable.
- 0:45We can't avoid change. We've talked about this a
- 0:47million times in our lives that, you know, change is inevitable.
- 0:51You can't, you can't get past it.
- 0:53And often you'll hear people say, well, it's it.
- 0:57It's pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
- 1:01And that's a big part of this concept.
- 1:03It's not the change that's painful, it's the resistance to
- 1:07it that's so painful and the resistance to having such a a,
- 1:12you know a thing about it, like, you know, just anything that you
- 1:16come up with, it's like it doesn't matter what the subject
- 1:18is around it. It's like if you resist things,
- 1:21they become painful. And I think that's a really
- 1:24important concept to dig into as to why do we resist.
- 1:28What is the reason that we resist things so much that we
- 1:32because we're we're, we know it's going to happen.
- 1:34We're told over and over it's going to happen.
- 1:36We witness over and over that it happens, yet what do we do?
- 1:40The same thing we always do. We put out this this feeling of
- 1:45being completely and totally angry about the fact or sad
- 1:49about the fact, whatever it might be, that it's taking
- 1:52place. So we have to recognize that we
- 1:54are creating our own problems. And it is 1000% true that that
- 2:00is what happens. I mean, if we didn't care, let's
- 2:04just go right down to the bottom line.
- 2:05If you don't care, then it doesn't matter.
- 2:08And my husband will often say, you know, people will say
- 2:11somebody doesn't care and he's like, well, it might be, but
- 2:13they also, you know, they might not know.
- 2:16So it's either they don't know or they don't care, but either
- 2:18one of those things puts out this feeling of pain for us.
- 2:23But it's partly because we sit there and we dwell in this
- 2:26resistance. We dwell in it and we keep
- 2:29ruminating on it and we keep going back and forth and back
- 2:31and forth and back and forth. And in the process of us just
- 2:34going back and forth so many times, we create our pain.
- 2:38It keeps looping in our head. We just spend so much time
- 2:41looping that it gives us more and more and more and more pain.
- 2:46So if we could stop, if we could pause, if we could just get
- 2:49ourselves to the point where we recognized I'm looping and this
- 2:52is not fun. This is not.
- 2:54Even if it's if you don't want to look at it as it's fun, this
- 2:56is not resourceful. That's probably the best word
- 2:59for you to go to, is it's not resourceful.
- 3:01It's not helping. And when we're not helping
- 3:04ourselves by doing that, we recognize we are generating the
- 3:08resistance to the change. And of all the things that we
- 3:12could do for ourselves, of all the things that we could end up
- 3:15doing, It's the understanding that the resistance to the pain
- 3:19is so big that that's what's giving us this, this turmoil
- 3:25inside of us. It's what's giving us all of
- 3:27this gut wrenching, heart wrenching feeling.
- 3:32And if we just would let go of it, we could move on.
- 3:36Now the question is how do we let go of something like this?
- 3:39How do we let go of it? Well, first of all, we come back
- 3:42to the same simple principle of choosing the direction of what
- 3:45you're focusing on. Choosing the direction of what
- 3:48you're focusing on is always the key.
- 3:50When you can absolutely control the direction of your focus, you
- 3:56are in a much better position. So when you start controlling
- 3:59how you think and what you think about, you are in command, and
- 4:04the way you do that is by course correcting minuscule little
- 4:08amounts over and over and over. Keep changing that bus driver,
- 4:11Keep pulling yourself back. But recognizing the root cause
- 4:15of the problem in this is also very valuable to you when you
- 4:19recognize that it's the resistance that we're putting
- 4:23on. If I wasn't resisting this, if I
- 4:25was just taking it in for what it was worth, then I would be
- 4:29able to ask myself, what can I learn from this?
- 4:32What can I do to shape shift this?
- 4:34What can I do to feel better about this?
- 4:36You can start asking yourself much more resourceful questions
- 4:39and not have such a deep, deep pain about something because
- 4:44recognize the pain is coming from the resistance.
- 4:47And if you keep reminding yourself that what am I
- 4:49resisting? Am I?
- 4:50What am I afraid of? It's a great question to ask
- 4:53what do I think is going to happen?
- 4:54Because sometimes those are. Those threats are so perceived
- 4:58that we don't recognize they're not real.
- 5:01They're just not real. Are they possibilities?
- 5:03Sure, but they're very low down on that possibility list.
- 5:06So do yourself a favor. Recognize it's the resistance,
- 5:12and ask yourself the questions, and you'll be able to make a
- 5:15shift. All right, my friends.
- 5:16I will see you tomorrow. Have a blessed day.
- 5:19Bye.
